The eight-page document eventually made its way to the FBI through Christopher Steele, the former British spy who wrote a dossier of his own. While the FBI is reportedly investigating the claims made in the Shearer memos, one person who discussed the document with Shearer during the campaign says it appeared at the time to be a ruse.
According to the source, who spoke to The Daily Caller News Foundation on condition of anonymity, Shearer claimed that members of Russia’s spy service, the FSB, had video tape of Trump engaged in sexually compromising acts. That allegation was similar to the one contained in Steele’s dossier, which was funded by the Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee. Steele, a former MI6 officer, cited a source who said that the Kremlin has video of Trump in a Moscow hotel room in 2013 with prostitutes. The Russian government was blackmailing Trump with the footage, Steele alleged.

Shearer said he did not have the supposed tapes, TheDCNF’s source said, adding that Shearer’s situation sounded like a “rope-a-dope story where the FSB throws this stuff out there, sucks people in, tries to get money.”
A U.S. government official who was briefed on the Shearer memos in Aug. 2016 — though not by Shearer — told TheDCNF that the allegations were not taken seriously because Shearer was “not a guy with a whole lot of credibility.”
“The whole thing stinks,” recalled the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the Russia investigation.
The official said that Shearer’s effort showed that Clinton loyalists were “doing their best to get this stuff out into the mainstream media before the election.”
Shearer’s memos have received little media attention since their existence was revealed in January. The Guardian broke the story that the documents had been passed to the FBI through Steele and that the bureau was attempting to ascertain their accuracy. Steele reportedly told the FBI that the information came ultimately from Shearer.

Shearer first gained notoriety in 1991 when he was involved in spreading the false claim that then-Vice President Dan Quayle purchased drugs from Brett Kimberlin, a drug dealer who was the culprit behind the Speedway bombings. It turned out that Kimberlin made up the story about Quayle. He is now a left-wing political activist.
Shearer, whose brother-in-law is Brookings Institutions President Strobe Talbott, was also reportedly investigated by the State Department’s inspector general in the late 1990s for allegedly misrepresenting himself as State Department official during negotiations with associates of a Bosnian warlord. Shearer was reportedly paid at least $25,000 in exchange for helping the warlord.
New details of Shearer’s memos emerged on Thursday with a report from Real Clear Investigations.
Journalist Lee Smith reported that Shearer created two four-page reports entitled “Donald Trump — Background Notes — The Compromised Candidate” and “FSB Interview,” a reference to the Russian spy agency.

Shearer wrote that he relied on information from an unnamed Turkish businessman who claimed to have “excellent contacts within the FSB.” The businessman said the FSB source knew of a “cut out” between the Trump campaign and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Trump campaign was “also involved hacking his opponents and trying to alter votes on election day,” Shearer’s source claimed.
Shearer wrote that his FSB source said that the spy agency knew of Trump’s predilection for women and used it against him.
“From observing Trump for years in previous visits to Moscow, the FSB knew he had a weakness for women,” reads the Shearer memo, according to Real Clear Investigations.
Trump was also aware that the Kremlin had compromising material on him.

Copies of the video were in Bulgaria, Israel and in vaults in Moscow, Shearer’s source said.
Shearer’s memos wove a twisted path to the FBI, with Blumenthal being the initial conduit.
In summer 2016, Blumenthal shared Shearer’s documents with a friend, a State Department official named Jonathan Winer. At the time, he was serving as special envoy to Libya, provided the Shearer reports to Steele, who he had known since 2009. Steele gave the Shearer reports to the FBI. The London-based Steele first contacted the bureau in July 2016 to share his information on Trump. He continued meeting with investigators through that October. Steele provided information from his own dossier to Winer. Winer wrote a two-page memo summarizing Steele’s allegations and passed them up the chain of command at the State Department. Sec. of State John Kerry ultimately decided that the dossier information should be shared with the FBI.
According to Lee Smith, the Real Clear Investigations reporter, Shearer’s memos also detail conversations he had with two journalists who heard rumors about Trump’s activities in Moscow. Both of the journalists, ABC News’ Brian Ross and The Wall Street Journal’s Alan Cullison, had been in contact with Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm that hired Steele. According to Shearer, Ross said that he would report on the story if he would “fly to Moscow to tape and air for broadcast,” which he would do if he could find a “talking head source” to back up Shearer’s claims. While Ross did not secure the explosive interview he sought, he did interview Sergei Millian, a Belarus-born businessman who is alleged to be “Source D,” the dossier’s main source for the Moscow hotel room allegation.
The recent book “Russian Roulette” suggests that Ross learned about Millian from Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson. Simpson hired Steele in June 2016 to investigate Trump’s activities in Russia.

“For Simpson, Millian was now an investigative target. He tipped off ABC News, which conducted an on-air interview with Millian, in which he said Trump ‘likes Russia, because he likes beautiful ladies — talking to them, of course,’” write Michael Isikoff and David Corn, the authors of “Russian Roulette.” Corn is the Washington bureau chief of the left-wing Mother Jones magazine.
Millian’s alleged involvement as a source for the dossier has raised questions about the veracity of the document. Former business associates of Millian have claimed that he has embellished his business achievements and connections. According to “Russian Roulette,” Fusion GPS’s Simpson was concerned that Millian was a source for Steele.
“Simpson had his doubts. He considered Millian a big talker,” the book reads.
Cullison, a former Moscow correspondent for The Wall Street Journal, was one of the three reporters who broke the Jan. 11, 2017 story revealing that Steele was the author of the dossier. According to Real Clear Investigations, Shearer claimed in his memo that Cullison told him that the DNC was paying Fusion GPS to corroborate the story about Trump’s Moscow visit. The Wall Street Journal has denied that Cullison knew who hired Fusion GPS. But as Lee Smith notes in his report at Real Clear Investigations, even if Cullison did not know that the DNC had hired Fusion GPS, Shearer clearly had that information.
It remains unclear how Shearer knew that the DNC was involved with Fusion GPS and how he happened to speak with two reporters who were in contact with the opposition research firm.
Shearer’s memos show he also spoke to Robert Baer, a former CIA operative who currently works for CNN. Shearer said that Baer claimed that “the Russians had established an encrypted communication system” between the Trump campaign and Russian president Vladimir Putin.
Baer told Real Clear Investigations that he picked up that story “from acquaintances at The New York Times who were trying to run the story down.” He recalled speaking with Shearer in March or April 2016. As Smith notes, if that timeline is accurate, Shearer was investigating the salacious Trump claims at around the time that Fusion GPS was hired by the Clinton campaign and DNC.

Shearer has refused to provide comment to TheDCNF.

Now that he’s president and could actually implement all those great things he ran on, Trump sounds like Liddle Marco.
This was Trump on Saturday night: “We need people to be able to come into our country, do your jobs, help you on the farms. … Guest workers, we’re going to take care of that. Guest workers. Don’t we agree? We have to have them. We have to have them.”
It went on like this for an eternity.
Liberals love to sneer about the bovine idiocy of Trump supporters, who are allegedly incapable of processing basic information. (See Evan Osnos, every week in The New Yorker.) The dead silence that greeted Trump as he blathered about replacing Americans with guest workers proves that Trump voters are listening quite closely.
The president needs to understand, unless he drops his bizarre and totally uncharacteristic desire to bring in people to do your job, the voters might just bring in someone else to do his.
The plus side of the midterm elections is that liberals have gone mad. The minus side is that voters intensely hate Republicans. Liberal insanity is not going to save a GOP dead set on pleasing the donor class by screwing over ordinary Americans. As usual. It was hatred for Republicans that drove millions of voters to Trump in the first place.
The same conservative talking heads who think the GOP is going to be fine by focusing on those great tax cuts – we’ll get to immigration soon, promise! — spent the first six months of Trump’s candidacy indignantly informing us that he was “not a Republican.”
They said it was “unhealthy” for the party to be debating mass deportations. Trump “hasn’t really stood for Republican things.” The “summer of Trump” would come to a quick and deserved end. The danger, standard-GOP conservatives told us, was what Trump’s candidacy “can do to the GOP brand.”
I thought the 2016 election would finally be enough to convince everyone that the Republican “brand” is not worth saving. It’s like trying to buy the rights to the name “the U.S.S.R.”
Trump won by making the election about all the things Republicans would never talk about. Principally, this was immigration. (Duh.) Trump also had a refreshing new approach to dealing with ISIS: Don’t bring them here. This is what happens when you run around the world kicking over hornets’ nests. The cowardly GOP was too terrified of the media to ever run on any awesome issues. Only Trump did, and, for that reason, nothing could stop him.
But now he seems to think he can win the midterms by hewing to the loser wing of the Republican Party. We’ve got to save the GOP “brand”! What does Mark Short say? RUN ON TAX CUTS!
Yeah, that’ll do it.
There’s still time to hold the Democrats to a blue eddy this fall. All it takes is Trump keeping his promises on immigration and not starting a war. (Who could have guessed it would be so difficult for a president not to start a war?)
Every journey begins with a small step, and this one begins with Trump firing everyone in the White House. They’re the ones who have encouraged him to ignore his promises for so long.
Even the “3-D chess” lunatics don’t say, It’s great that Trump is screwing over his voters, like Republicans always do! What they say is: Through some innate sixth sense, a higher vision, a third eye, Trump has an immensely complicated plan that you can’t understand to make things come out exactly the opposite of the way they are currently headed.
Maybe. But if Trump doesn’t do something major on his central campaign promise — not repainting border fences and telling us it’s the wall — see you on Nov. 7.

Or, for example, a certain former FBI Director Robert Swan Mueller III was appointed as Special Counsel to investigate alleged foreign government collusion with Team Trump to interfere in United States’ elections, with no credible evidence to substantiate said investigation. Well then, time would slow almost to the point of reversal.
Every day the American people wake up to hear new supposed allegations.
That whole “Trump colluded with Russia” thingy didn’t pan out. Even worse, turns out Hill the Pill Clinton foot the bill for the dossier used to prompt the investigation.
How does that work exactly?
HRC, of the Clinton Crime Syndicate…er…the Clinton Foundation, paid for a dossier compiled by a foreign operative to find dirt on candidate Trump. But that same “lady” sold 20% of our U.S. strategic uranium to her pals the Russkies.
In spite of all the nefarious activities and ties of Bubba and Hill, Bobby Mueller was appointed as Special Counsel for, as Andrew McCarthy points out, two reasons:
(1) ostensibly to take over a counterintelligence probe;
(2) in reality, as a cave-in to (mostly) Democratic caviling over Trump’s firing of FBI director James Comey — which was lawful but incompetently executed.
But in this Groundhog Day-like investigation, we wake up every morning and the never-ending probe continues with yet different goal posts.
And time drags on.
The “collusion” accusation was a bust. So the second verse, same as the first, a little bit louder and a little bit worse, is an ever-changing raison d-être for the Mueller probe.
McCarthy notes:
The Democrats did not want a special counsel in order to investigate a crime; they wanted a special counsel (a) to promote a political narrative that Hillary Clinton lost because of something other than her lack of appeal and (b) to frustrate Trump’s ability to govern — to mollify their “Resist!” base, to stop Trump from implementing policies they oppose, and to enhance their electoral hopes in the 2018 and 2020 cycles.
The latest refrain in the “Mueller’s Gonna Get Trump” ballad is obstruction. But here the investigation grows even swampier.
Read what McCarthy (and other knowledgeable Con Law attorneys) has to say:
A president should not be subjected to prosecutorial scrutiny over poor judgment, venality, bad taste, or policy disputes. Absent concrete evidence that the president has committed a serious crime, the checks on the president should be Congress and the ballot box…Otherwise, a special-counsel investigation — especially one staffed by the president’s political opponents — is apt to become a thinly veiled political scheme, enabling the losers to relitigate the election and obstruct the president from pursuing the agenda on which he ran.
. . .
A president, of course, may not subvert an investigation by unlawful actions — e.g., by conspiring to suborn perjury or bribe witnesses (cf. Clinton, Nixon). Illegal acts could amount to actionable obstruction. But the president’s dismissal of subordinate executive officials (such as the FBI director), and his exercise of prosecutorial discretion (by merely weighing in on whether a person — here, Flynn — deserves to be investigated), are constitutional acts that are not judicially reviewable. Executive prerogatives that are not subject to judicial review may not be subjected to judicial review by indirection, under the guise of a prosecution.
You see, the highest executive officer in the most powerful nation in the world was never meant to be tied up in political investigations barring REAL crimes committed. Thus my pal Bob Mack nails it with this cartoon.
Robert Mueller relentlessly pursues Trump like a blood hound tailing a no-good scoundrel.
Problem is, Trump may not be a highfalutin, smooth-talking, ever-sensitive Commander in Chief, but he’s no criminal, no scoundrel. In fact, most of us voted for Trump because he espoused our values — life, national security and sovereignty, legal immigration, less government regulation on individuals and businesses — and we happen to like that he’s a rugged straight shooter.
When I vote for a man for president, I want a real man. I don’t want some touchy-feely effete male. Give me a man’s man every time.
Eventually, maybe, this Mueller investigation will grind to a halt and time will pick up the pace and allow Trump to actually govern. Until that time, you can bet your bottom dollar that Mainstream Media (I won’t even pretend to call them journalists) and the rest of the #Resist nincompoops will maintain the pouting and heckling, like a pack of rabid, ankle-biting little dogs.
And time drags on.

In America, you can be whatever you want to be, right? I mean, the “pursuit of happiness” is completely ingrained in our DNA. We literally guaranteed ourselves the right to be happy. No one else really gets to say that. One could easily argue that the Founding Fathers created “the party nation”…say whatever you want, do what makes you happy, tell the Monarchy to take a hike. Not going to lie; the whole concept was a very much the 1770’s equivalent of punk rock.
And in this pursuit of happiness, we have seen a great number of converging and diverging interests in our nation, specifically as it pertains to cultural and gender-based norms. As the women’s rights movement came to the forefront to challenge the “men” in “all men are created equal”, the nation came to realize that the modern world was changing the dynamic of what we believed 200-some years ago.
Not to disparage those Americans who paved the way for us, but if you told Thomas Jefferson that we’d have a serious female contender for the White House, you’d be likely to hear something cringe-worthy in return. It’s not Jefferson’s fault, however. If you had tried expelling the iPhone to him, you would be in for a similarly perplexing series of statements.
Heck, even going back just a few decades, telling a southern man in the 70’s that we’d have a professional female NASCAR driver would have made some heads explode.
So, when the Boy Scouts erupted on the scene in 1910, it didn’t take long for the nation’s young women to get a hankering for a similar outfit. In fact, it was only two years later that the Girl Scouts arrived in America, giving young women a place to hone their skills, learn about the importance of preparedness, and sell me the most delicious darned cookies in existence.
Now, 106 years later, the liberal left has taken the women’s lib movement into Bizzaro-World, attempting to erase the inherent differences between men and women, and in doing so, have created mass confusion for our nation’s youngsters.
After 108 years, the Boy Scouts program is set to drop the gender from its name and re-emerge as “Scouts BSA,” a more “inclusive” group that will also soon welcome girls in its ranks.
Boy Scouts of America, the parent organization of the Boy Scouts program, made the announcement Wednesday. Though the decision to toss “Boy” aside was considered controversial by some, Chief Scout Executive Mike Surbaugh said the new name came about after an “incredibly fun” deliberation.
“We wanted to land on something that evokes the past but also conveys the inclusive nature of the program going forward,” he said. “We’re trying to find the right way to say we’re here for both young men and young women.”
The name change is expected to take effect next February. Boy Scouts of America and Cub Scouts will keep their titles. Cub Scouts – the program for 7- to 10-year-olds – has already started to admit girls.
The 11- to 17-year-olds who join Scouts BSA will likely start referring to themselves as scouts without a gender modifier, Surbaugh said.
If this means that there will be less young women out there to sell me Samoas, we’re going to have a serious problem on our hands.

But the new law wouldn’t be limited to legal residents. Illegal aliens would be permitted to run for state offices. But it would also make them highly visible deportation targets. The bill is the brainchild of California State Sen. Ricardo Lara.
It is not necessarily a bill to shore up illegal aliens as much as it is a way of shaking up Lara’s failing campaign for California Insurance Commissioner. Polls show that Lara is far behind former California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner, who instead of running as a Republican again is running as an independent.
There has been no word on how other legislators feel about the proposal but my guess is they really don’t want the competition.
California has already allowed at least two illegal aliens to serve in state office. Most recently, State Sen. Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) appointed Lizbeth Mateo to the California Student Opportunity and Access Program Project Grant Advisory Committee.
Mateo is an illegal alien who was brought to the U.S. as a minor by her parents but is not eligible for deferred deportation under DACA because she returned to Mexico and attempted to re-enter the U.S. in 2013 as part of a protest. She was detained at the border and requested asylum — after spending several weeks in Mexico with family.

Kim Dong-chul, Kim Sang-duk and Kim Hak-song are three U.S. citizens who were arrested in North Korea last year and accused of “hostile acts.”
Some experts suggested that the move was meant to facilitate upcoming talks between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
“We heard it through our sources in North Korea late last month. We believe that Mr Trump can take them back on the day of the US-North Korea summit or he can send an envoy to take them back to the US before the summit,” said Choi Sung-ryong, who campaigns for the release of detainees in North Korea.
Kim has time and time again committed himself to denuclearization and not called for the withdraw of US forces from the peninsula, nor has he demanded the US stop military drills with South Korea in exchange for a freeze in his nuclear and missile testing.
“Detainees face deplorable conditions, sexual coercion and abuse, beatings and torture by guards, and forced labor in dangerous and sometimes deadly conditions,” a 2016 report by Human Rights Watch detailed.
“Those accused of serious political offenses are usually sent to political prison camps, known as kwanliso, operated by North Korea’s National Security Agency. These camps are characterized by systematic abuses, including meager rations that imperil health and can lead to starvation, virtually no medical care, lack of proper housing and clothes, regular mistreatment including sexual assault and torture by guards, and public executions,” the report continued.
“Words mean a great deal. I was pleased to see Ms. Raza use the term “Regressive” to define the left. Why would we allow them to capture the high ground by accepting and regurgitating their self defined moniker “Progressive”. While “Regressive” makes the point, we should look for a term that accurately defines the self-destructive nature of their policies. “Delusionals”? “Utopians”? Let’s have a contest to come up with the most appropriate and descriptive moniker…”

One of the teen’s mothers decided to send the photo of the kids praying at dinner to a journalist in Oakland California, named Frank Somerville. Somerville shared the photo with his followers on Facebook with a note attached from the mother explaining how she wanted to share a picture of her daughter on her prom night. Now the picture is gaining headlines as many have decided to get upset over what they saw the kids doing. The debate about the photo is that people just assumed they were good people because they were spotted saying grace.

A photo featuring a group of teenagers praying over their dinner before heading to the prom is going viral — but it’s not garnering the positive reaction one might expect. KTVU journalist Frank Sommerville shared the heartwarming picture on social media after the mother of one of the teens sent it to him, saying, “Now with the stories today about teenagers and tide pods and condoms gathering headlines—this picture speaks for itself.”
The woman, identified as Noelle Smith, added that she was “so impressed with these young people on their prom date at Longhorn. They all said Grace before eating and were all well behaved.”
Sommerville appeared to agree, posting the photo on Facebook and writing, “Coupled with the post I did yesterday about the kids playing basketball who kneeled when a funeral procession went by, it says a lot about young people these days. It’s REALLY nice to see.”
“Saying grace over your food says nothing of your moral compass, integrity or character … Behaving well at a restaurant while in your late teens, and being considerate to people, should not be Facebook praise worthy,” one commenter wrote.
“Let’s be clear though, kids who don’t say grace are also good kids,” another added. “Just because you aren’t Christian doesn’t make you a bad person.”
While the post was soon flooded with negative comments, Sommerville eventually addressed the criticism:
I’m honestly surprised by some of these comments.. I wasn’t trying to imply that you have to be a Christian to be a good person.. what I see from these kids is that they are respectful… that they are humbled… and that they are appreciative for what they have. … I could care less whether they are religious…. but by saying grace it shows me that they have those qualities.. and those are the qualities… regardless of whether you believe in god … that I admire.
A woman claiming to be the grandmother of one of the teens also came to their defense, writing, “These kids were raised to respect their elders and to be the best that they could be.”
Reported By Posted on Wisconsin Dairy Queen owner Kevin Scheunemann has created quite the stir on social media and it was not for his delicious frozen treats. Scheunemann posted on his door a sign that the left would deem as politically incorrect, and in all reality, it isn’t. The simple sign consists of a list of sayings and core values that the majority of Americans in our country hold dear, but leave it a liberal to find that offensive.
“I felt the sign was appropriate to hang in terms of being transparent about the views of the owner and staff supporting God and country,” Scheunemann explained to CBS 58.
“It just seems that those kinds of values and principles are becoming controversial in society,” he added.
The sign has hung there for the last four years without a problem, but that streak ended about a week ago when one snowflake saw the sign and took to social media to complain. Ashley Coleman saw the sign hanging outside the door and was triggered by the sentiment and needed to take a snapshot of the sign.
“I find this extremely offensive,” whined an Oregon woman who goes by the name Ashley Coleman on Facebook. “Please speak with the franchise owner,” she added.
The post quickly picked up steam on Facebook as over a thousand people shared it and over two people commented, but if Coleman thought the town would get behind her she would be sorely mistaken. In fact, the community in this small town has rallied around the Dairy Queen seemingly in agreement with sign’s views.

“Business is good,” noted local CBS reporter Julie Parise, “thanks in part to a sign that’s hanging on the front door.”
Business owners in the area also came to Scheunemann’s defense.
“He posted it on the door so you see it before you walk in,” said local store owner April Serwe. “You don’t have to walk in if you don’t agree with it.”
Some Kewaskum residents even said the sign is unnecessary since most all of them “share the same values,” notes CBS 58.
“In this small community, I don’t think it’s a problem,” said local Liz Torrison. “We’re all just liking each other and having fun.”
Dairy Queen has not dictated the owner take down the sign, but they did distance themselves from the poster in a statement:
American Dairy Queen Corporation does not encourage our independently owned and operated franchisees to post non-business related messages in their locations or on their external reader boards. This sign expresses the views of this independent owner only and does not speak for ADQ Corporation or any of our other independent franchise owners. We expect our franchisees and employees to treat every person who walks through our doors with the utmost dignity and respect. Nothing less is acceptable.
Scheunemann said he’d be willing to make accommodations for anyone uncomfortable with the declarations made by the poster.
There is nothing wrong with anything that was said on this sign but leave it to a liberal to be triggered by it. America is a melting pot but that does not mean we need to abandon our customs for others people’s feelings. If they do not
like that this place says Merry Christmas then are free to go to a place that says Happy Holidays and so forth. Being offended by something does not mean they get to force other people to see it their way it just simply means that is their views. To many people that seem simple enough but thanks to the liberal indoctrination, these entitled leftists believe everyone must bend to them. It will take time to fix this mess, but until then we cannot bend to these liberal idiots and we must continue forging on.

The messages, exchanged between Dec. 14, 2016, and May 17, 2017, were initially thought to be missing due to a technical glitch on FBI-issued cell phones. But the texts were recovered by the Justice Department’s office of the inspector general, which is investigating the FBI’s handling of both the Clinton and Trump campaign investigations.
Approximately 300 messages were given to Congress, a Justice Department official told The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Strzok, the former deputy chief of the FBI’s counterintelligence division, was removed from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia team in July 2017 after the discovery of the text messages. They showed Strzok and Page expressed deep hostility to Trump during the 2016 campaign.
Strzok oversaw the FBI’s Russia investigation when it began on July 31, 2016. He was also a top investigator on the Clinton email probe. He helped conduct the interviews of Clinton and several of her top aides.
The congressional committees that received the text messages are likely to pour through them to find any information that might shed light on political bias from Strzok and Page as well as their thoughts on the Clinton and Trump investigations. Some of the text messages released so far have drawn scrutiny from congressional Republicans. One in particular is an Aug. 15, 2016, exchange in which Strzok referred to an “insurance policy” he wanted in the event of a Trump election win.
“I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy’s office — that there’s no way [Trump] gets elected — but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk,” Strzok wrote to Page, referring to a conversation they had in then-FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe’s office.
“It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you’re 40.”
Though Strzok was heavily critical of Trump in the texts, he indicated to Page in one exchange he believed there was not much evidence of collusion against the Trump campaign.
“You and I both know the odds are nothing. If I thought it was likely, I’d be there no question. I hesitate in part because of my gut sense and concern that there’s no big there there,” Strzok wrote to Page on May 19, 2017 — two days after the appointment of Robert Mueller as special counsel.
Strzok was referring to the Russia investigation when he said he believed there was “no big there there,” a source close to Strzok confirmed to The Daily Caller News Foundation.
The Daily Caller News Foundation has obtained the missing text messages the Department of Justice released to members of Congress between two former FBI employees who were highly critical of President Donald Trump.
The text messages are between FBI special agent Peter Strzok and FBI counsel Lisa Page, who were in an ongoing, intimate relationship. The Justice Department was able to recover the text messages, which were exchanged between Dec. 16, 2017 and May 23, 2017, after they were believed to be missing from a technological failure on the part of FBI-issued cell phones.
What the Justice Department released Thursday evening comprises 49 pages, or around 300 text messages.

Many of the text messages in the 49 page release are shorthand and are not entirely clear to the outside 
interpreter. The congressional committees that obtained the messages Thursday will likely siphon through them to see if, as GOP lawmakers currently believe, there is any evidence of political bias on the part of Strozk and Page.
Strzok was the chief investigator during the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server and, notably, watched over the FBI’s investigation into Russian influence in the 2016 presidential election.
A group of House Republicans are calling for the Department of Justice to investigate Strzok and Page for their potential involvement in a potential interference scheme in the Clinton private email case.
A number of the text messages released thus far between Strzok and Page have caused congressional Republicans to raise their eyebrows.
For example, Strzok told Page that he wanted to have an “insurance policy” in the off chance that Trump defeated Clinton in the 2016 election.

(i) (1) “Sexual orientation change efforts” means any practices that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation. This includes efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex.
… (a) The following unfair methods of competition and unfair or deceptive acts or practices undertaken by any person in a transaction intended to result or that results in the sale or lease of goods or services to any consumer are unlawful…
(28) Advertising, offering to engage in, or engaging in sexual orientation change efforts with an individual.
The problem with the rules (as is so often the case with California regulations) is that the scope is so broad that materials as activities could be construed to meet the definition of “sexual orientation change efforts”. One need look no farther than our coffee houses, which are now decorated with cancer warnings, to appreciate the understandable concern religious leaders, conservatives, and those with common sense have over the proposed measure.
Fox News host Todd Starnes reviewed AB2943, and noted that Alliance Defending Freedom called the potential for censorship is “staggering”.
A religious ministry could not hold a conference on maintaining sexual purity if the conference encourages attendees to avoid homosexual behavior;
A bookstore (even online bookstores) could not sell many recently published books challenging gender identity ideology and advocating that these beliefs should be rejected by society;
A pastor paid to speak at an event addressing current social topics could not encourage attendees that they can prevail over same-sex desires or feelings that they were born the wrong sex.
The measure is quietly making its way to the state senate, for the next phase in implementation. To assuage the concerns now being voiced about the potential to outlaw the Bible and other faith-based material, “fact-checkers” cite that religious texts aren’t mentioned. The Federalist contributor Robert Gagnon explains why this approach is sneaky:
Read the bill. There is no religious exemption. There is no restriction to mental health professionals. There is not even a restriction to claims about changing a person’s sexual orientation or transgender feelings in whole or part. The bill is quite clear that any “efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions” are included in the ban on attempts to change a person’s “sexual orientation.”
So you would be violating the law if you advertise that Christ can empower people not to engage in homosexual practice or not to identify as “gay” or “transgender” because such behaviors and self-identities are morally wrong, or if you offer to engage or actually engage in efforts to persuade people of Christ’s power to transform in this area, you will be in violation of California AB 2943, at least so long as your advertising or efforts involved in any way an exchange of money for goods or services.
Furthermore, like most progressive policies, the rules could end up hurting those it was intended to help.
The broad nature of AB 2943 also fails to consider those LGBT individuals who may seek help in their efforts to refrain from acting on certain inclinations. These individuals would be denied professional and personal help under AB 2943.
The policy would also affect transgender persons who later cease identifying with the opposite sex and wish to transition back to their biological gender. Under AB 2943, such individuals would be categorically denied the help and support they desire.
Should this bill be signed into law, there is a little hope that the rest of the nation will be spared further California insanity. Another #CalExit proposal has now been cleared for the signature gathering process.

Reported By Posted on First, it hurts their precious feelings. They get sad when they realize that people need to be deported in order for us to live in a nation of laws.
In their minds, America is a magical place filled with candy and unicorns, where everyone is allowed to just hop in and get free stuff. Little do they know that the real world does not work this way, and that this mentality has devastated our economy.
Second, and perhaps most importantly, liberals hate the wall because they know that its existence would shrink a valuable Democratic voting bloc. 
Millions of illegal immigrants vote for Democratic candidates. Whether it’s because they are forced to by local 
politicians or because they truly support the liberal platform, illegals vote en masse for Democrats. Since Democrats have come to rely on illegal support to win elections, they bend over backwards to grow the illegal population. They know that any plan to restrict illegal immigration would hurt their electoral chances, and thus they oppose the wall.
As a result, liberals were quick to celebrate when the administration announced that it would delay plans to build a wall. They got so carried away with excitement that they even made fun of the president and his supporters for believing that such a project could be completed in the first place.
Now, however, the joke is on them.

Ronald Vitiello, Customs and Border Protection’s acting deputy commissioner, said Tuesday that four to eight companies will get contracts for prototypes in San Diego that could be models for the roughly 2,000-mile border. Companies will have 30 days to complete the models.

It looks like we will get our wall, and it looks like it will be better than anyone expected.
Leave it to President Trump to take a construction project and make it even better.
Most people expected the wall to consist of simple concrete slabs. Trump, on the other hand, wants only the best. That is why he is open to a more innovative wall, which contains solar panels and other fascinating high-tech features.
Of course Mexico cannot be happy about this, watching their rich high-tech neighbor come up with solutions that will allow them to keep out illegals and make money back while they are at it. All while they still worry that Trump will penalize them on trade for the way they have hurt America’s economy all these years.
Regardless of the wall’s exact nature, Americans should be ecstatic that a wall will end up being built. Our southern border has been wide open for far too long. Millions of individuals, including criminals, gang members, and terrorists, have entered the United States by simply passing over some bushes or a small wire fence. Once they arrive here, they sell drugs and commit other crimes. Even non-criminal illegal immigrants cause problems by taking jobs and receiving welfare benefits.
This must come to an end if we ever want to fix our broken economy and culture. Fortunately, President Trump is committed to Making America Great Again. It looks like now we will finally get to “build that wall!” Source: Fox News

Usually the vibrant cultural diversity that immigrants bring runs more along the lines of child rape, drunk driving and food stamp fraud. But our official government policy of importing the Third World also means we’re going to have a lot more elder rape, too.

I was recently reminded of this aspect of diversity because, a few days ago, jury selection began in the trial of illegal alien Victor Aureliano Martinez Ramirez and anchor baby Jose Fernando Villagomez for the rape, torture and murder of 64-year-old Marilyn Pharis.
Pharis was attacked in 2015, just a few weeks after Kate Steinle was killed by an illegal in San Francisco — a wondrous moment in time when Donald Trump wanted to deport illegals, rather than call them “Dreamers” and give them amnesty. Like Steinle’s killer, Martinez Ramirez had a lengthy and impressive arrest record in this country, including felony assault with intent to commit sexual assault. A week before his violent home invasion, he was released from jail on drug and weapons charges.
We don’t know the details of the recent attack because the perps have VIP status, requiring the utmost discretion from our media. But based on what is known, the crime sounds pretty gruesome.
Pharis was attacked at 10 in the morning, at home, sleeping in her own bed, after working a night shift at Vandenberg Air Force Base. According to the dry legal charges and hospital report, she was penetrated with a “foreign object” and beaten with a hammer, leaving her with a broken neck and broken eye sockets. Pharis survived, managed to call the police and was taken to a hospital, where she died eight days later.
While we wait for the trial transcript, here are a few more examples of this multicultural trait we are importing for no good reason.
Sergio Martinez-Perez was the sort of hardworking undocumented immigrant from Mexico we keep hearing so much about from elected Republicans angling for campaign donations from the Koch brothers. He “played by the rules,” working in Omaha, Nebraska, as a roofer. (Roofing is well known to be a job Americans just won’t do.) Only 19 years old, Sergio was a “Dreamer.” They’re “absolutely incredible kids!”
One summer night in 2013, Sergio got drunk and broke into the home of 93-year-old Louise Sollowin, savagely beat her, breaking her nose and orbital bones, then ripped off her adult diaper and raped her. Sollowin’s daughter had put her mother to bed earlier that night. When she returned at 8:30 the following morning, she found Sergio lying naked and passed out on top of her mother’s bloody body. Three days later, Louise Sollowin died.
Mexican illegal immigrant Victor Manuel Batres Martinez raped, sodomized and beat two nuns in their 50s, strangling one to death with her own rosary beads. By the time of his nun-rape in 2002, Martinez had already been arrested multiple times before for kidnapping, robbery and possession of narcotics. Under the rigorous immigration enforcement procedures of the Clinton and Bush administrations, Martinez had been “ordered” deported three times, meaning he signed a note three times promising to leave.
In 2013, Antonio Nieto, a certified nursing assistant, was convicted of sexually assaulting patients in a nursing home. The staff didn’t believe the first victim, a 59-year-old woman, who was considered a complainer for objecting to the facility’s oppressive anti-smoking rules. This allowed two more female patients to be sexually assaulted by Nieto, one 73 years old, and the other 93. (Always believe the smoker!)
Nieto needed a Spanish translator at trial. Don’t say Third World immigrants aren’t creating jobs!
In 2008, a rash of rapes of women older than 60 in Texas finally ended when the police arrested Jose Ayala Nunez, a Honduran illegal immigrant, who later pleaded guilty to the assaults.
Twenty-four-year-old Parkpoom Seesangrit, an anchor baby, was a student at the American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts, when he was arrested in May 2014 for raping a 69-year-old dementia patient at the nursing home where he worked.
When caught by a nurse, he said, “I am sorry. I know it looks bad. I am in trouble.” He later claimed he was merely changing the victim’s diaper when he slipped and “digitally penetrated her.” He admitted to slipping on another occasion when he was taking the same patient to the bathroom.
Seesangrit was convicted and sentenced to six to eight years in prison. He needed a Thai interpreter at trial. (Immigration SAVES taxpayers money!)
Last month, 23-year-old Ghanaian immigrant Fode Doukoure pleaded guilty to raping a 74-year-old woman.
The first time, he merely fondled the wheelchair-bound woman. The second time, he doused her in pepper spray, then held an anesthesia-soaked rag over her mouth, knocking her out for about an hour. When the woman awoke, her hands were bound and her underwear was on backward.
(Who wanted Norwegians, anyway?)
Doukoure promised Pennsylvania state court judge Christylee Peck to “stay out of trouble and stay away from people who would put trouble in my way.” Like 74-year-old hussies in wheelchairs — that’s trouble with a capital T!
Melted by his words, Judge Peck sentenced Doukoure to the 16 months he’d already spent in county lockup, awaiting trial, so he was released immediately and is now well on his way to taking Joy Reid’s job at MSNBC.

Hmmm. That right there Missy M indicates that your little tirade at the despicable “Women’s March” could have easily been a federal offense earning you a fine or imprisonment or both! Got orange?
I could cite numerous examples, including the death threats I’ve personally received from radical liberals AND from a Muslim extremist.

I like the line Sandra Bullock speaks playing the part of Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side. A gang-banger has just called her b*tch and “Leigh Anne’s” mouth clenches, she turns around and calmly gives the young thug a well-deserved, fierce mama bear tongue-lashing:

That’s a little like me. I know people in high places (including current and former special operators), I pray, support the NRA, and I pack heat. So no worries. But back to the subject at hand.
The truth is that The Left, the Progressives/Socialists, are not in the least open-minded or tolerant unless you 
espouse their very same lefty worldview, in which case that is not even tolerance!!! Group-think yes; tolerance no.
I have heard liberals call conservatives “haters.” Just in general. They may not know any conservatives personally, but they seem to know that conservatives are “haters.”
Methinks The Left doth protest too much. Take out the log in your own eye, you perverted people.
Every conservative I know loves people and if they’re packing heat, would protect your miserable, whiny, safe-space seeking self if a violent situation arose. The trouble is, most of the violence emanates from gatherings of radical Lefties.

After a disheartening appeals court ruling preventing Alfie Evans’ parents from flying the 23-month old boy to Rome, Italy to take him to a pediatric hospital that has offered to provide appropriate medical care and treatment for him, Alfie’s mother has posted a new photo of him.
Little Alfie Evans is finally getting food. But officials at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital waited 28 hours before finally feeding the 23-month old boy, who is fighting a rare neurological condition.
Whatever happens with the legal battle over Alfie Evans’ life and death and whether his parents can take him home or take him to Italy for proper care and treatment, the battle in the courts may continue for some time.

The Second Amendment was added in spite of some who protested: many in the New World thought it nonsensical to add a right to keep and bear arms. After all, they had recently secured their independence from the tyranny of King George due in large part to the colonials being armed. Surely no one would ever seek to disarm Americans?
The proponents of the Second won the day, thank goodness, because now the Progressives (aka Socialists) would love nothing more than to disarm the “lowly, unenlightened masses.”
The Left — Feinstein and Bloomberg and Pelosi et al — don’t care about the citizens’ health and well-being — they care about CONTROL! Period. 
Think of gun-free Chicago with its astronomical murder rate. Gun-grabbers hate that topic. Bring up The Windy City and you get a chorus of Lefties, fingers in ears, shouting, “LA LA LA I can’t HEAR you!!!”
Another Leftist stroke-inducing topic? Illegal alien criminality. Whoah boy! The radical left call them undocumented and paint a picture of peaceful, law-abiding (uh…didn’t the break the law to get here?) people who just want to be Americans. Except they don’t. These illegals don’t want to become Americans. They do NOT want to assimilate and learn English and be good citizens.
Hint: good citizens do not break the law.
What these illegals do want to do is become recipients of American healthcare, food, housing, schools, etc., all on the taxpayer dime. Oh you can be sure the Socialists call it free. But it is not. Might be free to those who sneak across our border then scurry quick-like to the nearest bleeding heart Democrat to sign up for free stuff. But the so-called “free stuff” is expensive to Americans.
Especially Americans like Kate Steinle. Or like Deputy Sheriff Danny Oliver or Placer County Sheriff’s Detective Michael Davis Jr..
Kate was the daughter of Jim and Liz. Danny had a wife and two daughters. Michael Davis left behind a wife and four children.
Oliver and Davis’ killer, Luis Bracamontes, was “a Mexican citizen who had been deported repeatedly and had a felony drug and weapons history.”
Those are but three examples out of hundreds across this land.
So if the Lefties really want to protect Americans, they will get on board with building the wall and securing our border AND deporting illegal aliens.

One of the incidents involved alleged drug smugglers.Border Patrol agents responded to a tip that a group of men were smuggling large bundles across the Rio Grande River border with Mexico near the town of Roma, Texas, on Sunday. When the agents arrived, the smugglers abandoned their cargo and attempted to flee back to Mexico, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
One of the agents intercepted a fleeing smuggler, officials stated. The smuggler began to fight the agent. He allegedly pushed and scratched the agent in an attempt to avoid arrest. A second agent assisted the struggling colleague and the two agents took the man into custody.
The other smugglers escaped, but not before the agents were able to seize the bundles, weighing a total of 150 pounds. Officials estimated the value at $120,000.
Agents working near Rio Grande City came upon a man who crossed the border. As the agent attempted to arrest him, he became combative and struck the agent in the chest. The agent subdued the man and placed him under arrest. A background investigation revealed the man to be a Mexican national.
On Friday, an agent assigned to the Rio Grande City station came upon an illegal immigrant who attempted to enter the U.S. near Roma, officials said. As the agent attempted to take the man into custody, the illegal immigrant threw a handful of dirt in the agent’s face. After regaining his vision, the agent place the man under arrest. Agents then learned the illegal immigrant is from Honduras.
These assaults come on the heals of four others in the same sector, Breitbart Texas reported. The attacks all occurred during a one-week period.
More than 300 Border Patrol agents were assaulted in the first six months of Fiscal Year 2018, officials reported. This compares to 462 during the same period in FY 2017.

So what’s going on in California follows a familiar pattern? Indoctrinating children, using violence to shut down your opponents and to intimidate them and now they’re ready to burn books. That’s exactly what Hitler did in the 1930s and anyone who is surprised by what is going on in California just hasn’t been paying attention.
Well, somebody better start paying attention and soon.
But what if someone decided for themselves that they want to change? A priest or a pastor could face legal consequences if they were to help them. In a normal state that wouldn’t be a worry but this is California and if you believe they wouldn’t face charges, you are sadly mistaken.
They will never miss a chance to bash God and religion.
Shockingly, the proposed law could even be construed to make it illegal to sell Bibles, since they include verses that the far left finds unacceptable.
“Assembly Bill 2943 would make it an ‘unlawful business practice’ to engage in ‘a transaction intended to result or that results in the sale or lease of goods or services to any consumer’ that advertise, offer to engage in, or do engage in ‘sexual orientation change efforts with an individual,’” explained National Review.
That’s a lot of legalese to digest, so let’s break it down. What the bill basically says is that anything that can be seen as trying to impact a person’s sexual orientation would be illegal to sell or offer.
“The bill then defines ‘sexual orientation change efforts’ as ‘any practices that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation. This includes efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex,” continued National Review (emphasis added).
In Sutherland Springs (did you still remember?) there were 26 fatalities, men, women and children. Besides the dead, 20 were injured. But even though that event had greater casualties than the high school, with victims every bit as ‘innocent’ and ‘unsuspecting’ we don’t talk about that one much, do we? Was it because it didn’t generate any useful activists? Or could it have something to do with the fact that the bad guy was brought down by a good guy with a gun?
It was a former NRA instructor wielding an AR-15 no less? He might have acted even sooner, but he had to retrieve it from his gun safe, first. (Being the responsible firearm owner that he was.)
That’s exactly the story we never hear splashed all over national news. The only time an AR-15 is ever really mentioned is when it is held by a villain — despite the fact that most murders involve a handgun, not a rifle. Rifles are further down the list of ‘murder weapons’ than hammers, bats, fists or feet.
So, is there any truth to the ‘good guy with a gun’ argument for gun ownership? 
The CDC actually conducted a massive study on the defensive use of firearms decades ago, and for some reason, they never publicized the findings.
The study has resurfaced.
Florida State University criminologist Gary Kleck conducted the most thorough previously known survey data on the question in the 1990s. His study, which has been harshly disputed in pro-gun-control quarters, indicated that there were more than 2.2 million such defensive uses of guns (DGUs) in America a year.
Now Kleck has unearthed some lost CDC survey data on the question. The CDC essentially confirmed Kleck’s results. But Kleck didn’t know about that until now, because the CDC never reported what it found. [ephasis added]
Kleck’s new paper—”What Do CDC’s Surveys Say About the Frequency of Defensive Gun Uses?”**—finds that the agency had asked about DGUs in its Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System in 1996, 1997, and 1998.
Those polls, Kleck writes,
are high-quality telephone surveys of enormous probability samples of U.S. adults, asking about a wide range of health-related topics. Those that addressed DGU asked more people about this topic than any other surveys conducted before or since. For example, the 1996 survey asked the DGU question of 5,484 people. The next-largest number questioned about DGU was 4,977 by Kleck and Gertz (1995), and sample sizes were much smaller in all the rest of surveys on the topic (Kleck 2001).
Kleck was impressed with how well the survey worded its question: “During the last 12 months, have you confronted another person with a firearm, even if you did not fire it, to protect yourself, your property, or someone else?” Respondents were told to leave out incidents from occupations, like policing, where using firearms is part of the job. Kleck is impressed with how the question excludes animals but includes DGUs outside the home as well as within it.
Kleck is less impressed with the fact that the question was only asked of people who admitted to owning guns in their home earlier in the survey, and that they asked no follow-up questions regarding the specific nature of the DGU incident.

What’s the whittled down finding of the study?
Setting aside any professional use of a firearm (for example, law enforcement) those who have used a gun (whether fired or not) to protect themselves, their property, or another person have outnumbered those who have used a weapon in the commission of an offense by a wide margin.
The final adjusted prevalence of 1.24% therefore implies that in an average year during 1996–1998, 2.46 million U.S. adults used a gun for self-defense. Kleck points out this only means that about 1 percent of guns in the U.S. are thus used annually. In Armed, Kleck discusses a number of later surveys on DGUs, including one from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 1994, that at least roughly back up his original estimates. He sums up that “there are now at least nineteen professional surveys, seventeen of them national in scope, that indicate huge numbers of defensive gun uses in the U.S.”
For those who wonder exactly how purely scientific CDC researchers are likely to be about issues of gun violence that implicate policy, Kleck notes that “CDC never reported the results of those surveys, does not report on their website any estimates of DGU frequency, and does not even acknowledge that they ever asked about the topic in any of their surveys.”

Republicans are planning to marry Democrats to Hillary Clinton and force the party to be associated with their failed nominee.

She’s a very powerful motivator,” Corry Bliss of the Congressional Leadership Fund super PAC told Fox News. “It’s about what she represents. What she represents, just like what Nancy Pelosi represents, is out-of-touch far-left liberal positions.”

In a huge contrast to how Mitt Romney treated Barack Obama after the 2012 election, Hillary has refused to leave the public eye.
Last month, Clinton smeared many Trump supporters as racists and sexists during a talk.
“I won the places that are optimistic, diverse, dynamic, moving forward, and his whole campaign ‘Make America Great Again’ was looking backwards,” she claimed. “‘You know, you didn’t like black people getting rights, you don’t like women, you know, getting jobs, you don’t want to, you know, see that Indian-Americans are succeeding more than you are — whatever your problem is, I’m going to solve it.”

He then added that his administration would be putting pressure on Mexico to stop some of this in the new NAFTA agreement he has been working on.
Despite the rhetoric given, at least 50 migrants made it to Tijuana, Mexico last week and have turned themselves in seeking asylum in the US.

As you can see, the vast majority of these migrants are men. That’s not surprising as often the men go ahead of their families to settle things.
The group of 50 Central American migrants who set out from southern Mexico in late March arrived in Tijuana, Mexico on Wednesday, after splintering off from the original caravan of 1,500.
‘Since yesterday, some began to cross into the United States to turn themselves in from Tijuana and request asylum. We understand more of (the migrants) will do the same,’ said Jose Maria Garcia, director of Juventud 2000, an organization dedicated to assisting migrants.
He said more migrants, many of whom are stranded in Mexico’s central states, are expected to arrive in the coming days.
The splinter groups headed toward the US have been undeterred by President Donald Trump’s threat to deploy the National Guard along the border, after Trump called California’s contribution to the mission a ‘charade’.
Trump warned as the caravan of migrants were making their way across Mexico that it was a threat to ongoing NAFTA negotiations.
“The big Caravan of People from Honduras, now coming across Mexico and heading to our “Weak Laws” Border, had better be stopped before it gets there. Cash cow NAFTA is in play, as is foreign aid to Honduras and the countries that allow this to happen. Congress MUST ACT NOW!” Trump tweeted earlier in April.
According to Bloomberg, there will be an “intensified push” for a new NAFTA agreement in the coming weeks.
“Talks will pick up on Tuesday, after cabinet-level members vowed on Friday to keep up the momentum following consultations with their technical teams over the weekend. Mexican Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo said last week that after seven rounds of talks in as many months, rotating between the three countries, the three sides have entered a concentrated phase where “my negotiating team is practically living in Washington.”
Frankly, we don’t need another NAFTA just like we don’t need another TPP.
We’ll see if DHS can do that job properly that Trump is ordering them to do, or will they once again be babysitters like they were during the orchestrated invasion under Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Sobarkah.

If liberal lawmakers in California get their way, that west coast state may be one step closer to being unrecognizable as part of the United States. A bill currently pending in the legislature would essentially ban the sale of books that include traditional Christian views on marriage and sexuality.

Shockingly, the proposed law could even be construed to make it illegal to sell Bibles, since they include verses that the far left finds unacceptable.
“Assembly Bill 2943 would make it an ‘unlawful business practice’ to engage in ‘a transaction intended to result or that results in the sale or lease of goods or services to any consumer’ that advertise, offer to engage in, or do engage in ‘sexual orientation change efforts with an individual,’” explained National Review.
“The bill then defines ‘sexual orientation change efforts’ as ‘any practices that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation. This includes efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex,” continued National Review (emphasis added).
“Efforts to change behaviors” is where the real problem is. After all, almost all counseling and even common psychiatric care are intended to “change behaviors” in various ways.
If you think about it, that’s the entire reason people seek help in the first place: They want to stop drinking or becoming angry or, yes, having troubling thoughts about their sexuality.
It’s also worth pointing out that the bill as written would apply to people who are trying to change their own behavior. This would mean that if a person was struggling with same-sex behavior or sexual identity and they themselves wanted to change, it would be illegal for them to buy any book meant to help them with this. The problem here isn’t limited to Christian books. Bizarrely, the bill appears to put almost any counseling or psychiatric service in the cross-hairs.
For example, let’s say a man has the paraphilia of crossdressing or transvestism. For whatever reason, the person has become addicted to wearing women’s clothes and has found that showing up to work in high heels and a dress has a negative impact on his life. Setting aside any personal judgment about this lifestyle choice (how liberal of us), suppose he voluntarily seeks counseling to get a handle on this problem. Maybe he just wants to stop being addicted to cross-dressing in public.
It’s his own choice. Yet counselors or books intended to help him would be illegal because they’re “efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions,” in the words of the proposed law.

You might consider that example silly, but this concern is rather serious: If passed, it could only be a matter of time before the law’s extremely vague wording is used against traditional Christian teachings in the Bible.
Take Romans 1:26-27, for instance. This verse calls out homosexuality as “shameful” and encourages Christians to not act in this way.
Then there are 1 Peter 1:15-17, Romans 6:1, and Ephesians 4:22-24, all of which direct followers of Christianity to abstain from homosexuality even if they have those desires.
Let’s be extremely clear: The point of this article is not to lecture about gay lifestyles. There are an increasing number of gay conservatives who have reached their own conclusions about their beliefs, and many are on the front lines of the culture war.

You don’t even have to particularly agree with the Bible verses mentioned here to see the problem. Efforts like the proposed bill represent dangerous slippery slopes that would use the legislature to attack traditional beliefs, and even mainstream views that happen to be at odds with the far-left agenda. If nothing else, it’s an affront to the free exchange of ideas — yes, even ones that someone might dislike — and a censorship of speech.
“No one doubts that (Christianity’s) teachings on sexual morality are increasingly unpopular,” summarized National Review. “But they remain constitutionally protected, and no state legislature should be permitted to ban a ‘good’ (such as a book) or a ‘service’ (like counseling) that makes these arguments and provides them to willing, consenting consumers.”
It’s amazing that the same liberals who bemoan “government in the bedroom” eagerly jump at the chance to give the same government control over sexual and moral topics the moment it helps their cause.
