In early September, the COS Project began searching the country for citizens who recognized the brokenness of D.C. and were ready to be a part of the solution. Since the release of its Volunteer Leadership Application, the Grassroots Team has reviewed hundreds of names. Each application highlights a common desire to serve the nation and defend its freedoms for future generations.

We are excited to announce that twenty-six states now have active leadership in place.

One recently-appointed leader explained, “I don’t want to take the chance of sitting aside thinking that perhaps someone else will jump in and do it – and then not have it happen. So I am putting myself out there and am offering my time and my talents to help get this going.” Every day, citizens, no longer willing to sit on the sidelines, stand up and take tangible steps to return rightful power back to the states.

Ted Cruz criticizes DOJ for arguing international treaty can trump the Constitution

The Obama Administration (Cartel) has looked for every loophole it can find to get around the United States Constitution. According to the following report, they have found the ultimate way. This is more than scary. We have to watch this closely, do the Spiritual Warfare necessary, and speak up to our representatives. We cannot let this become the norm.

Ted Cruz criticizes DOJ for arguing international treaty can trump the Constitution

Justice Department attorneys are advancing an argument at the Supreme Court that could allow the government to invoke international treaties as a legal basis for policies such as gun control that conflict with the U.S. Constitution, according to Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.

Their argument is that a law implementing an international treaty signed by the U.S. allows the federal government to prosecute a criminal case that would normally be handled by state or local authorities.

That is a dangerous argument, according to Cruz.

“The Constitution created a limited federal government with only specific enumerated powers,” Cruz told the Washington Examiner prior to giving a speech on the issue today at the Heritage Foundation.

“The Supreme Court should not interpret the treaty power in a manner that undermines this bedrock protection of individual liberty,” Cruz said.

In his speech, Cruz said the Justice Department is arguing “an absurd proposition” that “could be used as a backdoor way to undermine” Second Amendment rights, among other things.

The underlying case, Bond v. United States, involves a woman charged with violating the international ban on chemical weapons because she used toxic chemicals to harass a former friend who had an affair with her husband.

Under the Constitution, such an offense would be handled at the state level. In Bond’s case, the federal government prosecuted her under the Chemical Weapons Convention Implementation Act.

That law implements the Chemical Weapons Convention, the international treaty Syrian dictator Bashar Assad is accused of violating in that country’s vicious civil war.

“The problem here is precisely that Congress, rather than implementing the treaty consistent with our constitutional system of federalism, enacted a statute that, if construed to apply to petitioner’s conduct, would violate basic structural guarantees and exceed Congress’s enumerated powers,” according to Bond’s lawyers.

The Judicial Crisis Network’s Carrie Severino said the Bond case could have ramifications for many other issues.

“If the administration is right, the treaty power could become a backdoor way for the federal government to do everything from abolishing the death penalty nationwide, to outlawing homeschooling, to dramatically curtailing the states’ rights to regulate abortion,” she told the Washington Examiner.

The Judicial Crisis Network is a conservative legal activist group.

The Obama Administration Cartel

In most every gangster movie there is a scene that demonstrates to the viewer the far-reaching power of the criminal group that makes up the antagonist in the movie. Perhaps it’s the Godfather commanding the police chief how to handle certain problems that the bad guys are facing. Or maybe it’s the scene where foot soldiers in a gang destroy the unassuming store of a poor neighborhood family. Both scenes are intended to demonstrate to you the viewer — and to the protagonist in the film — that the bad guy is very powerful and likely … unbeatable.

You’ve seen the movies. Today, you don’t need a movie to watch this kitschy story line play out; you simply need to observe the Obama White House in action. Or should I say the Obama cartel? The Obama family? The Obama gang?

“The White House is exerting massive pressure on the industry, including the trade associations to keep quiet.” “Sources telling us they feared White House retribution.”

The latest proof that the Obama administration believes itself to be the all-mighty arbiter of what is good and right is their reported response to insurers who are willing to tell reporters what is going on with Obamacare. The Obama administration is telling insurance companies to keep their mouths closed, and if any quotes or messages are leaked to the media, they draw immediate attention from the White House.

In essence, the Obama administration is using all of the coercive force they can bring to bear to threaten the insurance companies into silence. They are not using their influence for the good of Americans either–they are simply bullying the insurance companies in an effort to save face. The truth is that the media is trying to figure out why so many people are being dumped by their insurance companies and the answer is incredibly embarrassing to the White House.

“…Clarifications were made to the Affordable Care Act after the law was passed and those clarifications are forcing the insurance industry to drop insurance plans that do not meet Obamacare requirements. There’s a lot of coverage now required in these plans that was not part of many people’s private healthcare plans. Those are the people, Anderson, who are being dropped. And despite all the rhetoric from the President you simply cannot keep your current healthcare plan if it does not meet these requirements… the insurance industry is embarrassed about canceling the plans but… the administration was warned about this very scenario and ignored the advice.”

Why would the insurance companies not fight back? Why are they cowering in fear when faced with the corrupt bullies on Capitol Hill? What could the Obama gang have on them that could keep them from speaking truth to power and letting America know what is going on?

Obama Godfather“Executives are willing to listen to the White House because right now it is the Federal government that’s the biggest customer for these insurance companies. Government backed plans accounted for about 48% of healthcare policies last year Anderson (Cooper), a number that is expected to grow this year and years to come… insurance companies are in a position to just be quiet for fear of offending their biggest source of income.”

Don’t buy the Democrat spin when they say the insurance industry just needs more government oversight or involvement. The government is plenty involved – in fact, that’s the problem. The government is in bed with the insurance companies which is why our costs keep rising, even now under Obamacare. Crony capitalism always leads to more profits for the government backed company and less choice, efficiency, quality and satisfaction for the consumer. It is the corruption of the free market that has allowed the Obama Cartel to take over our healthcare and thoroughly ruin what was once a fine system.

The Obama gang is scared. First they ran the economy into the ground and now they are destroying a healthcare system that just needed some tweaking. It’s the same story we’ve seen play out time and again. The IRS scandal, Benghazi, the NSA … plan to hear a lot more news about the Democrats and the White House using their intimidation tactics to keep people quiet.

America and the Fall of Rome

ually witness the blatant comparisons between our nation and those greater (and lesser) countries that have fallen in the past – a constant eroding of moral foundations, a disintegration of law, and a collapse of what was once a vibrant economy. It seems each day the six o’clock news reports yet another challenge to the values and traditions of America. The daily paper has become the harbinger of doom for a country that once believed in God, revered the traditions of marriage and faith, and preserved the concepts of swift and sure justice.

When we have sufficiently removed God from our culture and diminished the value of honesty as a wellspring of our morals, then we become nothing more than sociopathic tribes of cretins, and our courtrooms nothing more than ineffectual bonfires for us to dance around. And that, is the beginning of the end.

Anyone who has studied history finds it painfully obvious that history is repeating itself. It has always been traditions and values, and a powerful presence of justice, swift and sure, that have maintained the continuity of the great cultures before us. In the same breath, it has most always been the deterioration of values, traditions, and justice that has eroded the power base of those cultures.

rome-and-usaRome is always the example that comes to mind, and no society in modern history parallels Rome more than the United States of America – the deterioration of faith, the promulgation and encouragement of alternate sexuality, the collapse of political, judicial and religious tenants, the tapestry of a nation deteriorating into a mosaic of autonomous tribes, and the unchecked and continuous invasion of the country’s borders. (Rome at least resisted its invaders – we, on the other hand, are welcoming them).

Our way of life is now continually threatened from the outside by an loose amalgam of angry sects coalescing around a bitter, vengeful religion, but it is the deterioration of our society from within that will provide our inexorable collapse into a third world country. We’ve become a nation of apologists and excuse-makers, stumbling along while embracing this new technicolored philosophy of diversity above common sense, and reward without effort – that everyone should have the same amount of everything regardless of whether or not they’ve earned it. These same people are the ones who tell us the foundering indigenous cultures within our borders are simply a product of insufficient attention, and the ones climbing over the fences of our borders deserve everything we have the moment their feet touch the ground. They are the same myopic folks who believe every heinous criminal is a product of a childhood without Sugar Pops, and every African American deserves $50,000 in reparations money. It’s poignant naiveté bordering on a “wrestling is real and the moon landing was faked” mindset, and it’s corroding the very foundations of intelligence and common sense in this nation – and yet it grows, and it is beyond me to explain that.

It is the nature of great societies to rise and fall. I know this, and I will accept the inevitability. But it’s just so incredibly distressing to me to witness this race with such pure abandonment, into the tar pits of history.

Rubio: Policy Cancellations Were ‘Intended Consequence’ of Obamacare

Image: Rubio: Policy Cancellations Were 'Intended Consequence' of ObamacareSen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., isn’t buying the argument that the policy cancellations resulting from Obamacare are an unintended consequence of the law.

“It wasn’t an unintended consequence. It was an intended consequence,” Rubio said Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.”  “This was done on purpose because they want to undermine and gut the individual marketplace.”

Rubio didn’t elaborate, but he signed on to a bill introduced Wednesday by Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., that would allow people to keep current policies they like even if current rules say they can’t.

Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh has long maintained that Obamacare is a step toward a single-payer plan that essentially would put every American on government-sponsored insurance.

“I’m fully convinced that the chaos that’s happening now could well be intentional to speed it up,” Limbaugh said on his radio show Tuesday.

Limbaugh repeatedly has played clips of President Barack Obama saying in 2003 and 2007 that he wants to eventually move toward a single-payer system.

Obama 2003In 2007, Obama told an AFL-CIO Civil, Human and Women’s Rights Conference:

“My commitment is to make sure that we’ve got universal healthcare for all Americans by the end of my first term as president. I would hope that we set up a system that allows those who can go through their employer to access a federal system or a state pool of some sort, but I don’t think we’re going to be able to eliminate employer coverage immediately. There’s going to be potentially some transition process. I can envision a decade out or 15 years out or 20 years out.”
