Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore is busily training an army of organizers to go out and spread his environmental gospel ahead of key climate talks in Paris later this year.

The modern world is collapsing around us and we must change our ways, according to the former US vice president, who has led the training of more than 5,000 people in the last 18 months.

At each session, he delivers an updated version of his Academy Award-winning documentary “An Inconvenient Truth,” using the latest news footage and startling videos to show how the very fossil fuels that have powered so much innovation are leading to the demise of society.

Air so hot it melts airport runways, floodwaters that crumble roads and bridges, methane that blows terrifying holes in Siberia and air pollution so thick it has shortened life expectancy in China by several years featured prominently during his three-hour presentation in Miami this week.

“The world that we have built was built for different conditions,” Gore told about 1,000 people who came from 80 countries to attend the three-day climate training session.

At times, he lamented killer heat waves, parching drought, a media that doesn’t connect the dots between extreme weather and global warming, and what he called “crazy short-term thinking” among politicians who deny that climate change is occurring.

“Don’t let anybody tell you that we are going to get on rocket ships and go to Mars and live in hermetically sealed buildings. We couldn’t even evacuate the city of New Orleans when a hurricane hit there,” he said.

In Florida, where sea level rise threatens the drinking water, the tourist-friendly beaches and billions of dollars in infrastructure, Gore arrived just as Monday’s super moon coincided with high tide, flooding some streets in Miami

“The scientists have long since told us we have to change,” Gore said. “But now, Mother Nature is saying it with water in the streets in this city.”

The Climate Leadership Reality Corps Training aims to teach people to give similar but shorter presentations in their own communities, each lasting around 20 minutes, so that they can educate others and encourage conservation and renewable energies.

Attendees in Miami were charged no fee to participate, but once their applications were approved, they were required to pay for their own food, lodging and travel.

On the second day, Gore led a panel discussion with leading scientists, including NASA expert Eric Rignot, who warned that 20 30 feet (six to nine meters) of sea level rise is considered inevitable, although it’s unclear when this will eventually happen.

Pressed by Gore for a more precise timeline, he said to expect at least 6.5 feet before century’s end. Such a scenario would devour many coastal cities worldwide, but Gore counseled his followers to maintain a positive focus, citing progress in the wind and solar industries.

“Despair is paralyzing,” said Gore. “We can’t deliver that message.”

Attendee Julie Arnold, who works for NexAmp Solar in Boston, said she was moved by Gore’s talk, and had initially seen his documentary almost eight years ago. “I think he pulled together a lot of new things I had not seen, and I am someone that reads about this constantly just being in the business and being an environmentalist,” she told AFP. “It struck me enormously because I hadn’t realized how serious it was.”

Arnold said her plan is to learn to deliver a shorter version of Gore’s presentation to middle school and high school-aged kids, in the hopes of motivating them to make changes in their lives.

Dann Diez, who founded an organization to provide renewable energy for indigenous people, traveled from the Philippines for the conference and said he plans to continue to encourage his peers to waste less and reduce their carbon emissions. “Change comes from individuals,” Diez said.

Russian military forces start airstrikes in Syria – Ministry of Defense

“In accordance with the decision of the Supreme Commander of the Russian Armed Forces, Vladimir Putin, warplanes of the Russian Air Space Forces today [Wednesday] have started an aerial operation, involving pinpoint strikes on ground targets of Islamic State [IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL] terrorists in Syria,” spokesperson for the Russian Defense Ministry, Igor Konashenkov, said.

The Russia airstrikes are targeting military equipment, communication centers, vehicles, arms and fuel depots, belonging to IS terrorists, Konashenkov added.

Russia’s Rossiya 24 channel said that the first airstrikes were carried out by two Sukhoi Su-24 attack aircrafts “213km north of [the Syrian capital] Damascus” near the city of Hama.

Meanwhile, Syrian state television has named at least seven areas targeted by Russian air strikes. They include areas around the cities of Homs and Hama, which are separated from each other by 44 kilometers.

Earlier, a US official told Reuters that Moscow gave Washington one-hour advanced notice of its operations. The bombing is taking place in western Syria, near the city Homs, the official added. A Pentagon official also told Russia’s RIA Novosti that Russia urged the US to clear the skies for the operation. US State Department spokesman John Kirby said that Russia indeed requested that American aircraft avoid Syrian airspace during the Russian air missions, but the US military will not comply.

“The US-led coalition will continue to fly missions over Iraq and Syria as planned and in support of our international mission to degrade and destroy ISIL (Islamic State),” Kirby said.

Following the reports, Vladimir Putin said all Moscow’s foreign partners have been informed about Russian plans in Syria. During his meeting with the government, the president stressed that Russia’s participation in the anti-terrorist operation in Syria is based on international law and is being conducted “in accordance with an official request from the president of the Syrian Arab Republic [Bashar Assad].”

On Wednesday morning, the upper chamber of the Russian parliament unanimously gave formal consent to President Putin to use the country’s military in Syria to tackle Islamic State and other terror groups. The Russian air campaign in Syria is commencing just a few days after Putin’s address at the UN, in which he called for an international anti-terrorist effort in the country. The Russian president also met with US counterpart Barack Obama on the sidelines of the 70th UN General Assembly, with the two leaders agreeing that Moscow and Washington have common interest in Syria.

Senate passes funding bill to avert government shutdown

The Senate voted overwhelmingly Wednesday in favor of a funding bill that would avert a government shutdown and fund federal agencies through Dec. 11. The measure, which also provides emergency funding to fight wildfires and extends the expiring authority of the Federal Aviation Administration, passed the Senate by a vote of 78-20. All Democrats voted for the bill. Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Linsdey Graham (R-S.C.), who are both running for president, missed the vote.

The House is expected to approve the bill later in the day, ahead of the midnight deadline for keeping the government open.

GOP leaders appear to have avoided, for now, the prospect of a government shutdown, which some conservatives had threatened to gain leverage in their effort to defund Planned Parenthood.

The stopgap buys President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), outgoing Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Boehner’s successor just more than two months to craft a broader year-end spending deal. McConnell and Boehner spoke to Obama last week to lay the groundwork for the budget summit, which leaders hope will set the top-line spending numbers for fiscal 2016 and 2017.

In the meantime, McConnell plans to bring several appropriations bills to the Senate floor and force Democrats to vote on them in a bid to highlight their obstruction. Democrats have vowed to filibuster the spending measures, because they follow the spending caps set by the 2011 Budget Control Act.

“Now that the [continuing resolution] appears to be on track, we can turn back to the last step in the Senate’s normal appropriations process and that is getting the funding bills passed here on the floor,” McConnell said.

Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) criticized the GOP leader for bringing legislation to the floor that he said has little chance of passing without a budget deal. “We’ve gotten nothing done, Mr. President, nothing done under the leadership,” Reid said, addressing the presiding chair. “I’m reminded what Albert Einstein said when he defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who is running for president, was the Senate’s most vocal advocate for opposing any funding bill that did not defund Planned Parenthood but found little support from fellow Republican senators. Republican colleagues blocked his effort Monday to add a one-year ban on federal funding for Planned Parenthood to the stopgap appropriations measure. The Senate voted 77-19 Monday to advance the continuing resolution stripped of policy riders.

A group of House conservatives plan to follow Cruz and offer an amendment defunding Planned Parenthood to the stopgap when it reaches the Rules Committee later Wednesday. That gambit is expected to fail, as many Republicans have already signaled support for a clean short-term funding measure, but the vote will allow conservatives to formally register their opposition to funding Planned Parenthood.

Once Pope Francis boarded a plane back to the Vatican, President Barack Obama wasted not time getting back to business as usual — attacking religious freedom. On Sunday night, at a Democratic National Committee-sponsored event in New York City billed as an “LGBT gala,” Obama took to the podium and warned Christians across the country that their religious freedom means nothing in the face of gay rights.

“We affirm that we cherish our religious freedom and are profoundly respectful of religious traditions,” the POTUS said. “But we also have to say clearly that our religious freedom doesn’t grant us the freedom to deny our fellow Americans their constitutional rights.”

Obama patronized Christians and Christian groups about their “genuine concerns,” but ultimately suggested that the issue was being pushed by Republicans who were simply using the concerns to acquire more votes.

“America has left the leaders of the Republican Party behind,” Obama said during his anti-Christianity speech. He’s made quite a few of those now.

Obama then launched a series of verbal assaults on several GOP presidential candidates, including Dr. Ben Carson, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. “I’m sure he loves the Constitution — except for Article III,” Obama said in a sarcastic tone, referring to Huckabee. “And maybe the Equal Protection Amendment. And 14th Amendment, generally.”

After thoroughly trashing Christians everywhere and essentially promising that their religious liberty would not be recognized under his rule, he called for the LGBT community to remain vigilant and assured them he would continue to fight for “progress.” If this isn’t a clear warning sign for American Christians, we don’t know what is.

Forensic Analysis: Planned Parenthood Videos Are ‘Authentic’

A forensic analysis of undercover videos about Planned Parenthood’s abortion practices are “authentic and show no evidence of manipulation or editing,” according to a report released Tuesday by Alliance Defending Freedom.

The analysis was completed by Coalfire, a digital security and forensics firm that has worked on civil and criminal investigations. The firm had access to all audio and video investigative footage recorded by the Center for Medical Progress.

“The Coalfire forensic analysis removes any doubt that the full length undercover videos released by Center for Medical Progress are authentic and have not been manipulated,” said Casey Mattox, senior counsel at Alliance Defending Freedom. “Analysts scrutinized every second of video recorded during the investigation and released by CMP to date and found only bathroom breaks and other non-pertinent footage had been removed.”

According to the report, the videos only omit footage irrelevant to the allegations such as bathroom breaks.

“Planned Parenthood can no longer hide behind a smokescreen of false accusations,” Mattox said, “and should now answer for what appear to be the very real crimes revealed by the CMP investigation.”

“American taxpayer money should be redirected to fund local community health centers and not subsidize a scandal-ridden, billion-dollar abortion business,” Kerri Kupec, legal communications director for Alliance Defending Freedom said in a statement.

“Planned Parenthood is an organization that cares about one thing: making a profit at the expense of women’s health,” she added. “The investigative videos, whose authenticity was confirmed by the report, show that Planned Parenthood is an abortion-machine whose top executives and doctors haggle and joke about the harvesting and selling of baby body parts. Women deserve far better.”

Spokespersons for Planned Parenthood have denied illegal conduct. Last month, the organization commissioned their own analysis of the videos which claimed that the “edited” videos “have no evidentiary value in a legal context and cannot be relied upon for any official inquiries.”

The Daily Signal previously reported that the firm hired by Planned Parenthood, Fusion GPS, has ties to the Democratic Party, including an effort to expose a group of eight private citizens who donated to a super PAC supporting former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign.

IT WAS only when the gates of the Nazi death camps were thrown open that the industrial scale of Hitler’s killing became known. Western diplomats had received scattered information about Nazi massacres of Jewish people and “undesirables” in occupied Poland and Russia but it was difficult to confirm. Yet just 70 years since the end of the Second World War, a genocide is taking place once again, this time against Christians.

Scores have already been murdered by Islamic State and thousands forced to leave ancient Christian communities in northeastern Syria and western Iraq as the extremists demand they either convert to Islam, pay an extortionate rate of tax or face execution.

Some have even been crucified.

Despite concerns being raised by religious leaders including the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the plight of Christian refugees is largely being ignored by the western world.

Now a charity, which is being funded by Jewish peer George Weidenfeld, who escaped Nazi-occupied Austria with the help of British Christians, is taking matters into its own hands by mounting a series of rescue missions to save the Syrian Christians. Lord Weidenfeld, who was smuggled to safety by Quakers at the age of five, said: “I have a debt to repay.” So far the charity, the Barnabas Fund, has liberated 158 Christians from Syria and found them a new home in Poland.

Its founder and international director Patrick Sookhdeo has recently returned from a visit to eastern Europe, where he was seeking refuge for the hundreds of thousands of Syrian Christians who continue to live under the tyranny of IS.

According to Mr Sookhdeo, Britain’s offer to take up to 20,000 Syrian refugees inadvertently discriminates against the Christian communities most victimised by the Islamic State butchers.

He said: “The British government has said it will take 20,000 refugees and we have said, ‘Will you not take some Christians?’ But we have had no reply.

“We have even put out a joint statement with Muslim Aid to the Government saying both communities are suffering, can’t you look after both?

“What David Cameron is doing, we believe, is unfair.

“He has said he will go to the camps to get the refugees, but the problem is that the Christians don’t like to live in the camp.

“What they prefer to do is to live in church halls or else with families and the reason is that it is safer for them. What we are saying to the Government is that you need a broader based approach.

“By all means take the most vulnerable people but don’t just take them from the camps because you are only going to get one kind of people. When it comes to other countries they all say that European legislation means you can’t discriminate between one religious community and another but we say surely the most vulnerable are the ones you have got to be taking in.”

In areas controlled by IS, Christians have been crucified, beheaded, raped and subjected to forced conversion. Christian children are also being sold as slaves.

Mr Sookhdeo added: “It is like going back 1,000 years seeing the barbarity that Christians are having to live under. I think we are dealing with a group which makes Nazism pale in comparison and I think they have lost all respect for human life.

“Crucifying these people is sending a message and they are using forms of killing which they believe have been sanctioned by Sharia law.

“For them what they are doing is perfectly normal and they don’t see a problem with it. It is that religious justification which is so appalling.”

While it is not known how many Syrian Christians have been murdered by IS, the numbers living in the country have fallen rapidly since the start of the civil war in 2011.

More than 700,000 of Syria’s population of 1.1 million Christians have already been forced to leave as IS militants expanded into the northwest of the country. Mr Sookhdeo believes there are now no more than 250,000 Christians living in Syria.

He said: “In Aleppo, to give you one illustration, there used to be 400,000 Christians four years ago. Today there may be between 45,000 and 65,000.”

Mr Sookhdeo now faces a race against time to find a new home for the hundreds of thousands of Syrian Christians who he claims have “lost all hope”.

Last week he was in Hungary, where he was appealing to religious and political leaders to provide visas for the Christians. He then drove on to Romania as part of his mercy mission.

He is planning a second mission that will see another 40 Christians rescued from Syria.

Mr Sookhdeo said: “Basically what we have to do is to persuade political and religious leaders to look kindly on this project. I think there is some concern about the numbers involved and the costs, but what we have been saying to these countries is that we can bear these costs so they are not a burden on poor impoverished states or even western states.

“Many Christians and churches are saying we will open up our homes and churches, we will also provide money and support for the first year.

“Because these people are Christians they can also integrate very quickly within the churches and most of them are professionals, like doctors and accountants, so they won’t have a problem finding work.”

One country has already indicated a willingness to take 10,000 Syrian Christians, while others have said they will take between 150 and 200.

“I think things are starting to escalate,” he said.

“But we cannot stop until we find a home for every one of them.

“There are eastern European countries that are sympathetic but once we hit the UK and some of the other countries, they say they don’t want to do it.”

While he did not wish to reveal too much about the rescue operations that often take place behind enemy lines, he explained that the Christians were being taken to neighbouring countries before being moved on to their end destination.

“Everything is done officially,” he said.

“We have to get the visas for them first. With those who went to Poland, it was the Polish embassy in Beirut that had to process everyone.

“Unfortunately it is a very dangerous world and we have to be very sensitive and cautious about this process.”

Following a career in publishing, Lord Weidenfeld, 95, remains extraordinarily grateful for the risks taken by those who helped him reach Britain in 1938 and has decided to plough money into the fund as a result.

He said: “‘IS is unprecedented in its primitive savagery compared with the more sophisticated Nazis. When it comes to pure lust for horror and sadism, they are unprecedented. There never was such scum as these people.”

The peer said he hopes the project could replicate the work of Sir Nicholas Winton, who died earlier this year aged 106.

Sir Nicholas was a British former stockbroker who helped organise the Kindertransport programme that saved more than 10,000 Jewish children from Nazi persecution in Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, and Poland prior to the outbreak of the Second World War.

The Prime Minister has previously said that Christians would be included in the Government’s vulnerable persons resettlement scheme, although no detail has been provided as to how they will reach them.

Ted Cruz: ‘Republican Leadership Leads The Onslaught Attacking Conservatives’

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) slammed Republican leadership on Monday for slavishly serving the interests of major corporations — and worse, leading attacks from the Left on its conservative grassroots base.

The Democrats are “relentless” in pursuing their principles, Cruz said, which include ever-increasing government spending and unlimited abortion rights. They’re “willing to crawl over broken glass with a knife between their teeth to fight for their principles,” Cruz said. Republican leadership “reflexively surrenders,” Cruz said. “President Obama simply has to utter the word shutdown and Republican leadership runs for the hills.” Cruz explained three types of votes take place in the Senate:

“show votes,” a limp-wristed attempt to placate voters by staging a pre-ordained surrender to Democrats;
votes that simply grow government;
“must-pass” votes that include continuing resolutions, appropriations bills, and debt ceiling raises.

The Texas senator compared GOP leadership to an NFL coach that declares “we forfeit” at every single coin toss. The “clean” continuing resolution rubberstamps Obama’s hard-left agenda. “It funds 100 percent of Obama’s agenda, executive amnesty, Obamacare, the Iran nuclear deal. It is essentially a blank check to Barack Obama,” Cruz said.

“How is it that Speaker Boehner can promise there would never be a shutdown? Because I believe Speaker Boehner has cut a deal with Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA),” Cruz said. He believes Boehner plans to cling to his Speakership for another month in order to ram through a spending deal which will continue to fund industrial baby body parts seller Planned Parenthood, thereby avoiding a government shutdown.

Republican leadership told voters they needed a majority in the House of Representatives in 2010, and a majority in the Senate in 2014 in order to effectively oppose Obama. Voters delivered in “tidal wave” elections, Cruz said. But now, nine months after the November election in which Republicans gained nine Senate seats, voters ask Cruz in town halls: “What exactly have those Republican majorities accomplished?” The spontaneous response to their own question is “absolutely nothing.”

But Cruz said it’s far worse than that. “It would have been better if the Republican majorities did ‘absolutely nothing,’” he said, but they took the lead in imposing the cromnibus, Obamacare, executive amnesty, continued funding of Planned Parenthood, and confirming Loretta Lynch as attorney general — even after she promised to act as lawlessly as Eric Holder and to never oppose Obama.

“We keep winning elections but the people we put in office don’t do what they said they’re going to do,” Cruz said. GOP leadership is “quite competent and willing to fight. The question is what they’re fighting for.”

A list of major corporations’ priorities would be identical to that of the GOP leadership’s, Cruz said. Voters’ are far, far down on the list. And defunding Planned Parenthood isn’t among “the priorities of K Street,” Cruz added.

The billionaires who fund Democrats “don’t despise their base,” Cruz said, unlike top GOP donors. “They don’t despise the radical gay rights or radical environmental movement.”

“A very large percentage of top donors actively despise our base… who voted you and me into office,” Cruz continued. He added he’s talked with many New York Republican donors who ask three questions: Do you support same-sex marriage? Are you pro-choice? Pro-amnesty? “The people writing the checks agree with the Democrats,” Cruz said, and look down on the Republican base as “hicks and rubes.”

“Which is why the Republican leadership likes show votes,” Cruz said. But now, “voters understand difference between show votes and real votes.”

A restless base has sparked scorn and fear in the GOP establishment.

“Notice how much energy Majority Leader McConnell devotes to attacking conservatives? Notice how much energy Speaker Boehner devotes to attacking conservatives?” Cruz said. Boehner denounced Cruz as one of the GOP’s “false prophets” and a “jackass” on Sunday’s Face The Nation. He’s repeatedly and publicly mocked the same Tea Party voters who helped elect him and significant Republican majorities. His described his attitude towards dealing with conservatives as: “Garbage men get used to the smell of bad garbage. Prisoners learn how to become prisoners, all right?”

Boehner is free to insult whomever he likes, Cruz said. But, he asked, “Where is that level of venom and animosity to President Obama and the Democrats? It’s Republican leadership that leads the onslaught attacking conservatives.”

Breitbart News has dubbed the season of Washington Kabuki as “Failure Theater” during Boehner’s embarrassing tenure as Speaker, during which he fought for the interests of the Chamber of Commerce and liberal GOP donors.

The baton was officially transferred Monday to the world’s new sole superpower — and Vladimir Putin willingly picked it up. President Obama (remember him?) embraced the ideals espoused by the United Nations’ founders 70 years ago: Diplomacy and “international order” will win over time, while might and force will lose.

Putin, too, appealed to UN laws (as he sees them), but he also used his speech to announce the formation of a “broad international coalition” to fight ISIS in Syria and Iraq. “Similar to the anti-Hitler coalition, it could unite a broad range of forces” to fight “those who, just like the Nazis, sow evil and hatred of humankind,” he said.

And who’d lead this new coalition? Hint: Moscow has always celebrated the Allies’ World War II victory as a Russian-led fete.

Oh, and if anyone wondered which Syrian players the coalition would rely on as allies, Putin made it clear: “No one but President [Bashar al-]Assad’s armed forces and Kurd militia are fighting the Islamic State.” That, of course, isn’t Obama’s view. America’s president said he opposed the “logic of supporting tyrants.” After all, Assad “drops barrel bombs on innocent children.”

But Putin has troops in Syria, is arming Assad to the teeth and signed a pact of anti-ISIS intelligence-sharing with Assad, Iran and the leaders of Iraq (the ones America fought to put in power).

And after meeting Obama for the first time in two years Monday, he spoke vaguely about future “joint air attacks on ISIS.” But no agreement on Assad was reached in the 90-minute meeting.

Meantime, if Obama has any realistic Syria plan of his own — beyond having Assad magically “transitioned” out of the country and simultaneously fighting ISIS — he failed to present it during his UN speech. Or any other time.

Instead, he scolded an “isolated” Putin for using force to annex Crimea and other parts of Ukraine. “Imagine if, instead, Russia had engaged in true diplomacy,” said Obama. “That would be better for Ukraine, but also better for Russia, and better for the world.” Then again, imagine if Obama’s eloquence were backed by, say, American-led NATO. Would Putin so easily be able to eat up Ukraine and take over Syria? Not likely.

But even as he chided Russia, China and even Iran for being steeped in the policies of the past, it was Obama who at times sounded like a throwback to days of yore.

His celebration of the United Nations was reminiscent of scenes from 1950s movies that portrayed it as a place where problems are actually resolved. In reality, along the decades (and even more so in the last six years), the UN became so paralyzed that it can no longer serve as arbiter of global security.

Obama’s speech was, as ever, full of promise. His turn from using “might” to claiming to have “right” on his side and relying on diplomacy have led to America’s opening up to Cuba and a key deal with Iran on nukes. But these are yet to yield positive results. “If this deal is implemented,” he said of Iran, “our world is safer.” Big if.

By contrast, Putin’s deployment of forces in Syria and arming of Assad create facts on the ground. They have also propelled him to the top by taking initiative on today’s most consequential world fight.

Although Obama received much less applause during his Monday speech than in past years, he’s still well-liked at the world body. Yet those who count, the ones he scolded in his speech — Putin, Assad, China’s Xi Jinping and even Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani — weren’t in their seats to hear his words.

Because as forceful as Obama’s words are, they’re rarely backed by action.

Putin? Nobody applauded him. He’s more interested in being feared than liked. Then again, his words, at most, are meant to explain forceful action. That’s how Putin seized leadership from America.

And that, to borrow from Obama’s speech, is bad for Syria, where the war will continue as long as Assad remains in power. It’s bad for Europe and Syria’s neighbors, which have no idea what to do with that war’s refugees.

And it’s bad for America. Because sooner or later, after more bloodshed and under even worse conditions than now, our next president will be called upon to retake the leadership baton from Putin. And that could prove tricky.

ISIS planning ‘nuclear tsunami’

Nuclear annihilation across the globe. This is what a German reporter who successfully embedded with the Islamic State says the terror group is planning. Jurgen Todenhofer released his findings in a book titled “Inside IS – Ten Days in the Islamic State,” reports the UK’s Daily Express.

“The terrorists plan on killing several hundred million people. The west is drastically underestimating the power of ISIS. ISIS intends to get its hands on nuclear weapons,” says Todenhofer, calling the group a “nuclear tsunami preparing the largest religious cleansing in history.”

“They now control land greater in size than the United Kingdom and are supported by an almost ecstatic enthusiasm the like of which I’ve never encountered before in a war zone. Every day hundreds of willing fighters from all over the world come. They are the most brutal and most dangerous enemy I have ever seen in my life. I don’t see anyone who has a real chance to stop them. Only Arabs can stop IS. I came back very pessimistic.”

With the ink not yet dry on the “Iran nuclear deal,” Middle Eastern states opposed to Persian domination of the region now are actively pursuing a nuclear weapons capability of their own. President Obama’s deal could literally mean an arms race that could lead to nuclear devastation as Saudi Arabia and others look to get the bomb as well to counter Iran. With more countries obtaining nukes, the greater the possibility terrorists could obtain a weapon, which could be used to attack Israel or the West.

Cruz Humiliates Obama in Front of Chinese President With With Massive Slap in Face

Yesterday morning, when President Barack Obama met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, 2016 GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz humiliated our president with one sentence.

We know as much courtesy of The Washington Post political contributor Dave Weigel, who shared Cruz’s comment on his Twitter feed.While Cruz obviously meant this statement in jest, his comment rang true with a lot people:

Communism places the collective good over the individual and demands that every worker be paid according to his abilities and needs. President Obama believes that the wealth rightfully earned by business owners and job creators ought to be redistributed via increased wages and taxes.

Furthermore, Obama studied under the tutelage of Frank Marshall Davis, a card-carrying member of the Communist Party USA and close friend of his grandfather, who reportedly mentored Obama during his teen years.

Cruz’s tweet was especially brutal considering that Chinese President Xi Jinping is the ruler of a genuinely communist nation, one fraught with worker abuse and human rights violations.

By referring to Obama as “the world’s most powerful communist,” Cruz insinuated that the president’s ideology is so radical in nature, it makes Jinping look like a commonplace capitalist. In other words, Obama is a rigid ideologue and collectivist who wants to “radically transform” America from a free and just capitalist nation into a communist/socialist one where so-called “social justice” takes precedence over actual justice.

Cruz was likely joking when he made the comment, but like the best jokes, it’s funny because of the element of truth that runs through it.

God help us. Here’s what America’s newly homosexualized, “values neutral” military looks like.

Last week, in a strange fit of actual news reporting, the New York Times published an exposé revealing that, under this Obama administration, the Department of Defense is not only permitting the homosexual abuse of little boys at the hands of Muslim allies in Afghanistan, but is effectively facilitating it. A handful of U.S. servicemen have had enough and are courageously blowing the whistle on this unimaginably evil policy. Naturally, they’re being punished and drummed out of the service for doing so.

“Rampant sexual abuse of children has long been a problem in Afghanistan, particularly among armed commanders who dominate much of the rural landscape and can bully the population,” reports the Times. “The practice is called bacha bazi, literally ‘boy play,’ and American soldiers and Marines have been instructed not to intervene – in some cases, not even when their Afghan allies have abused boys on military bases, according to interviews and court records. …”

“At night we can hear them screaming, but we’re not allowed to do anything about it,” Lance Cpl. Gregory Buckley Jr. told his father, Gregory Buckley Sr., who recounted his conversation with the Times. “My son said that his officers told him to look the other way because it’s their culture,” Buckley added.

Isn’t multiculturalism peachy?

I sat down with Dr. Judith Reisman, research law professor and director of the Liberty Center for Child Protection, to discuss this shocking development. “Unfortunately, this has been going on for years, with the knowledge of our American government,” she told me. “I just received an email from one of my German child-protection colleagues. She included several links to violent torture films and photos of hundreds of real children being brutalized by animals in horrific scenes. There is no way the FBI, CIA, Interpol and all other policing agencies do not know about this, which is readily accessible.

“This is glamorization of ’50 Shades of Grey’ novels and films acted out on children, chained to beds, tortured, never to recover,” she added. “It’s a natural outgrowth of generations of Western ‘fee sex’ conditioning via the ‘sex science’ of violent bi/homosexual pedophile Alfred Kinsey in 1948 and his ‘pamphleteer’ Hugh Hefner, beginning in 1953. Kinsey’s claim he proved ‘children are sexual from birth’ has been supplemented by slow, devious conditioning of future generations through child pornography in Playboy. Can people be so brainwashed that they really believe we have always been so demonic?” she asks.

Indeed, Kinsey, though married to a woman who took part in his many filmed “scientific” orgies, was a promiscuous homosexual and sadomasochist. He managed to completely upend and twist the world’s perception of human sexuality in the 1950s and ’60s with his world famous “Kinsey Reports.”

Even today, most are completely unaware that during his tenure at Indiana University, Kinsey facilitated, with stopwatches and ledgers, the systematic sexual abuse of hundreds, if not thousands, of children and infants – all in the name of science.

Among other things, Kinsey asserted that children are “sexual from birth.” He further concluded, based upon experiments he directed and documented in his infamous Table 34, that adult-child sex is harmless, even beneficial, and described child “orgasm” as “culminating in extreme trembling, collapse, loss of color, and sometimes fainting. …” Many children suffered “excruciating pain,” he observed, “and [would] scream if movement [was] continued.” Some “[would] fight away from the [adult] partner and may make violent attempts to avoid climax, although they derive[d] definite pleasure from the situation.”

Yeah. Sounds like it.

Disturbing though this may be, what’s equally disturbing is that nearly all of today’s liberal “comprehensive sex education” curricula – such as that pushed by extremist groups like the National Education Association (NEA), Planned Parenthood and the Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) – is derived entirely from the criminally fraudulent, pro-pedophile “research” of Alfred Kinsey.

What’s even more disturbing is that, in addition to the DOD, Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has likewise embraced the debunked Kinsey sex-education model and has long pushed curricula based upon it.

You may recall, for instance, that during his first term, the Obama administration provided on the HHS “Questions and Answers About Sex” website, a “Quick Guide to Healthy Living” section which, like Kinsey, outrageously claimed that “Children are human beings and therefore sexual beings … which is healthy and normal.”

And what do “sexual beings” do? Well, they have sex, of course. “It’s hard for parents to acknowledge this,” admitted the page.

You think?

So we shouldn’t be surprised in the least that, since Obama repealed the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy a few years back, not only have we seen a massive spike in male-on-male homosexual assaults in the armed services, we now discover that this administration is looking the other way as similar homosexual assaults are being perpetrated against children. After all, “Children are sexual from birth,” right? They’re “born that way.”

And so are the men who rape them.

Don’t be a pedophobe, you bigot.

It’s not every day that a Hollywood actor comes out as a conservative, but Tim Allen is no stranger to controversy. In the 1990s, Allen became an A-list actor when he played Tim Taylor on the hit show Home Improvement.

Now, in the fifth season of Last Man Standing, Allen is playing Mike Baxter, a “very smart Archie Bunker” character who pokes fun at sensitive issues without the scandalous comments Bunker often made.

On Thursday, Allen was a guest on Fox News’ Hannity, discussing his fiscally conservative ideas.

Host Sean Hannity showed a clip of the show in which Allen’s character made the comment: “You see the world is kinda opposite of Hillary Clinton. It actually gets less scary the better you know it.”

Hannity followed up with a question: “How close to Tim Allen is Mike Baxter?”

Allen replied that his problem-solving skills come from his upbringing and growing in a single-parent home. He stated that he uses those problem-solving skills in local politics, working within regulations to get things done.

“I’m what they call fiscal conservative,” he said.

Allen made fun of politicians who think they can “spend their way out of debt.”

Hannity and Allen talked about how easy it would be to balance budgets by taking one penny from every dollar, every year for six years, suggesting budget issues would be a thing of the past.

Judicial Watch Puts Hillary Clinton on the Spot over Abedin Patronage Job

I’m sure you’ve seen and read the usual DC establishment talking heads professing confusion as to why Hillary Clinton would make the “mistake” in setting up a separate email system to conduct government business as secretary of state. Of course, these types never see the obvious answer – because she had something to hide! And so did a lot of other Obama administration officials, some still running things at the State Department.

If you have any doubt about this, please take a look at the new State Department records we released yesterday that reveal Hillary Clinton personally signed the authorization for Huma Abedin, her then-deputy chief of staff, to become a special government employee.

The records also show that Abedin declined to provide complete information about her husband Anthony Weiner’s financial dealings. The records were uncovered as a result of a court order in a Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit that seeks records about the controversial, to put it charitably, employment status of Abedin (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:13-cv-01363)). The records show also that Abedin used a clintonemail.com account to communicate about her special status. (We know only that Abedin had a clintonemail.com account to conduct business. Neither Clinton nor the State Department are telling who else from the State Department participated in this shady Clinton email system.)

The lies on this particular issue began in February 2014, when the State Department assured Judicial Watch that it had searched several individual offices of the department, including the office of the executive secretary, which would have included the offices of the secretary of State and top staff. Relying upon the State Department’s misrepresentation that the agency conducted a reasonable search, Judicial Watch agreed to dismiss its lawsuit on March 14, 2014. Judge Emmet Sullivan reopened the lawsuit on June 19, 2015, in response to revelations about Clinton’s separate email system.

The newly uncovered documents show that Clinton personally signed the form for Abedin’s appointment as a “Special Government Employee/ senior advisor to Clinton on March 23, 2012.” The position description form details that Hillary Clinton certifies that Abedin’s “position is necessary to carry out Government functions for which I am responsible.” The Obama State Department blacked out Clinton’s signature on the form, allegedly to protect Clinton’s privacy.

As Politico, which first reported our find, points out, this document suggests that Mrs. Clinton is a liar:

Clinton, in an interview with MSNBC on Sept. 4, said she “was not directly involved” with Abedin’s job arrangement.

“Do you think [Donald Trump] had a point in raising the question of whether it was appropriate for her to be taking a State Department salary and also be paid by an outside company closely associated with your husband, by you?” asked reporter Andrea Mitchell.

“Well, I was not directly involved in that, but everything that she did was approved under the rules as they existed by the State Department,” Clinton said.

Obviously, she was directly involved and, as you’ll see below, the “rules” were violated left and right.

The documents detail Abedin’s “expert” position, which evidently also required a continued top secret clearance:

As a Senior Advisor (Expert) to the Secretary, the incumbent will provide expert advice and guidance on varying issues related to the planning of logistical arrangements for foreign and domestic missions, and for the coordination of the foreign policy requirements, press, and protocol and security components necessary for a successful and sensitive foreign policy mission.

The documents raise questions about whether Abedin’s position complied with a federal law that prevents special government positions created for work already performed by current employees. On June 4, 2012, Abedin states “NO, MY NEW POSITION IS IDENTICAL TO MY OLD POSITION.”

Abedin also expressed concern in March 2012 about the State Department finally paying for her travel from New York. In a March 27, 2012, email about her “conversion to expert appointment,” Abedin writes:

“Have a few questions. One is time sensitive, I need to come down to state tomorrow. Can state start paying for my travel since ny is now my base? I’ve been paying personally for the last 6 months. Thanks.”

The records show that there was a rush to appoint Abedin to the position, which was initially set to begin on April 1, 2012. When Abedin was finally approved in June 2012, she had failed to provide her husband Anthony Weiner’s financial information, despite repeated requests from the State Department.

In a March 21, 2012, email, Cynthia Motley, administrative officer in the State Department, writes to Abedin requesting the financial disclosure information:

Huma, I have been advised to begin the process to convert you from your Non-Career SES position as Senior Adviser (Expert-SGE) in the Office of the Secretary which is to be effective April 1, 2012. In order to initiate the conversion appointment, I will need the following from you as soon as possible:

The attached SF-278 Financial Disclosure Report must be completed for your termination from the Non-Career SES appointment.

On April 3, 2012, in a response to Motely, Abedin begins what turns out to be a lengthy period of non-compliance:

Anthony filed his separate disclosures last june. Nothing has changed. I don’t need to include his stuff on mine, right? Just want to confirm Thanks!

On April 4, Motley again advises Abedin that Weiner’s assets must be disclosed:

I have confirmed with the Legal Office that his assets are imputed to you so his assets are reportable on your OGE-278 which should include all of 2011 and 2012 up to the date.

In May 2012, after Abedin has still failed to file the required disclosures, Sarah Taylor, the chief of the State Department’s financial disclosure division, is forced to contact Abedin in an email marked “Importance: High:”

I have your termination OGE-278 report and the financial disclosure report for the Senior Advisor position. While reviewing your termination OGe-278, I noticed your spouse had several assets that weren’t reported on your report. Can you kindly provide an end of year summary statement so that I can update your report accurately?

After months of non-productive wrangling, Abedin was appointed to the SGE position on June 3, 2012, without having submitted the proper financial disclosure documents for Weiner, as indicated in a June 22 email from Taylor to Marcela Green of the DOS Financial Disclosures Division:

Yes, she [Abedin] was supposed to give me some information regarding her spouse’s assets and she has not done so.

Another email suggests that as of August 29, 2013, Abedin still hadn’t provided the required financial information.

In a June 6, 2012 email, Abedin admits, “I don’t really know [Weiner’s] clients or his work.” This email chain discloses that Abedin had already been cleared for the “other position.”

So if the “rules” had been followed, Abedin would never have gotten her sweetheart job that allowed her to double dip from federal taxpayers and Clinton Foundation/Clinton front operations.

Interestingly, the State Department produced these records after performing a second search of State Department offices. The first search, conducted in early 2014, produced only eight pages. I wonder how these documents were missed in the first place? You can bet we’ll be asking the court the same thing.

This same litigation saw the development of the FBI and Justice Department rejecting an order by Judge Sullivan to produce information about searching for records on the server and other material reportedly taken from Mrs. Clinton. As Judicial Watch responded in a court filing this week:

We still do not know whether the FBI… has possession of the email server that was used by Mrs. Clinton and Ms. Abedin to conduct official government business… We also do not know whether the server purportedly in the possession of the FBI – an assumption based on unsworn statements by third parties – is the actual email server that was used by Mrs. Clinton and Ms. Abedin to conduct official government business… Nor do we know whether any copies of the email server or copies of the records from the email server exist.

These documents show the Huma Abedin received special treatment contrary to law and that Hillary Clinton personally approved a corrupt patronage position.

These new documents are smoking gun evidence of what Hillary Clinton’s separate email server was all about – keeping secret the corruption of her and her top staff.

What else is out there?

Politico reported that, since June 2012, Abedin had been double-dipping, working as a consultant to outside clients while continuing as a top adviser at State. Abedin’s outside clients included Teneo, a strategic consulting firm co-founded by former Bill Clinton counselor Doug Band. According to Fox News, Abedin earned $355,000 as a consultant to Teneo, in addition to her $135,000 SGE compensation.

Teneo describes its activities as providing “the leaders of the world’s most respected companies, nonprofit institutions and governments with a full suite of advisory solutions.” [Emphasis added] Outside of the U.S., it maintains offices in Dubai, London, Dublin, Hong Kong, Brussels, Washington, and Beijing. Teneo was also the subject of various investigative reports, including by the New York Times, which raise questions about its relationship with the Clinton Foundation. This week, Politico also reported that other State Department documents show Abedin was asked to help both the Foundation and Teneo in April 2012.

Clinton Email Games Put Nation at Risk

The Clinton email scandal isn’t only about the subversion of the rule of law. It is about the nation’s security and, frankly, the safety of senior government officials. Mrs. Clinton’s email games, ironically, may have put her own personal safety at risk.

If you have any doubt take a look at the more than 50 pages of new emails from the clintonemail.com server account of Huma Abedin, a former top aide to Hillary Clinton during her tenure in the State Department. The emails discuss seemingly sensitive security and foreign affairs issues and raise questions about the handling of classified material. The documents were obtained as result of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit seeking Huma Abedin’s government business emails conducted on non-state.gov email accounts (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:15-cv-00684)). The emails were produced from a search of State Department records, as the agency continues to delay full production of records turned over by Ms. Abedin recently.

In 2012, then-Secretary of State Clinton traveled to Finland (June 27-28), Latvia (June 28), Russia (June 28-29), and Switzerland (June 29-30). On June 26, 2012, former Principal Deputy Executive Secretary Pamela Quanrud writes to Abedin:

Huma – if I could lobby to get to Geneva on Friday night. We have a big data dump to get from beth jones and others there to prep for Saturday, and it would be a lot better for us to work through the night there (with access to classified) than be stuck in St. Pete with no classified at all.

Abedin responds from her huma@clintonemail.com account the next morning (June 27):

Let’s think for a minute about why this matters and what kind of insight that gives us into how Clinton and her team operated in the U.S. State Department.

The emails show Abedin used the non-secure clintonemail.com server to discuss sensitive travel and operations security information that could have placed the personal security of Clinton and other government officials at risk, such as real-time location information while traveling abroad, such as hotel and travel arrangements.

On May 31, 2012, as Clinton and her State Department entourage are traveling in Scandinavia, Abedin writes to Clinton’s then-Special Assistant Lona J. Valmoro:

Abedin to Valmoro: “Let me know when u r leaving.”

Valmoro: “We are en route to airport now. Could we do during the 45 minute drive from Oslo airport to hotel. Everyone can dial into Ops and will have minis.”

Abedin: “When? Who’s in car with her?”

Valmoro: “Cheryl is with her now. If we are wheels up by 9:35 pm, land at 11:25, start call by 11:35 or 5:35 pm EDT?

Abedin: “[I] could barely hear [Hillary Clinton] with the background….”

Can you imagine if these unsecure emails fell into the hands of bad guys? The threat to the safety of top public officials, especially Mrs. Clinton, could have been enormous.

On June 25, 2012, Abedin writes that she is willing to discuss travel details while on a “packed train.” With the subject line “Could we get on the phone together at 11:30 – in advance of the [Russia] trip call?” Abedin writes to several people, including Quanrud:

I see call got moved to noon. We can talk right before then if you want. All shuttles were canceled this morning and I am sitting on a packed train so hard for me to talk but we can def do calls. [Emphasis added]

Other emails provide details of Clinton’s plans and schedules for the 2012 trip that included Russia, including the timing of calls on trip planning.

Other emails show sensitive foreign affairs information is contained on Abedin’s Clinton server account. A June 29, 2012, email discloses a move to hold a meeting concerning Syria in Geneva. Pamela Quanrud writes to Abedin and Valmoro an email with the subject: “UK and P3 meeting requests:”

UK has asked to meet at 8:45 ahead of a 9:30 with UK. US and France to coordinate. Jake thought P3 meeting necessary – what about UK? Should we say yes to 8:45?

Abedin writes back two hours later:

Another email details a request from the Iraqi Foreign Minister for a bilateral discussion with Clinton. Abedin uses her clintonemail.com account to approve the “pull aside,” writing, “fine to add to list.”

Another document shows Abedin approving, weeks ahead of time, the Hanoi Sheraton for Clinton’s trip on July 10-11, 2013, to Vietnam. A June 22, 2012, email from Tulinabo S. Mushingi, who is now the U.S. Ambassador to Burkina Faso, details the hotel options in Hanoi for Abedin, with Sheraton as the number one option. The email details both the luxury and security aspects of the hotel:

The Sheraton hosted the Secretary in July 2010 and October 2010 and much of the hotel staff remains, so they know the drill The July 2010 visit S stayed in the Imperial Suite (shown in attachment and the suite available for this visit); in October 2010, since another Head of State was also in the Sheraton and occupied the Imperial Suite S stayed in the Presidential Suite. The Imperial suite is spacious and very bright and airy, with lake views. It has a large bathroom with Jacuzzi style tub and walk in shower. The Sheraton was redecorated and refurbished within the past 12 months, so it is in excellent condition and is very attractive. From a logistics perspective the hotel is excellent as it has a very large parking area for staging motorcades. It’s location is in close proximity to government buildings where most meetings are likely to be held.

P.S. Post reminded us that the entire focus of the Hanoi stop is to promote U.S. businesses and trade. Given the purpose of the stop, the optics of staying at the available quality American name brand hotels would carry the same message, hence another for choosing The Sheraton.

Mushingi also suggests that one other hotel choice is not up to par in that “the suite bathroom is nice, but not quite to the standard of the Sheraton.” Your tax dollars at work ensuring Mrs. Clinton has the best possible luxury bathroom!

On August 8, in response to another JW FOIA lawsuit, Clinton was forced to file a sworn declaration in which she claimed to have turned over to the agency “all my e-mails on clintonemail.com” and conceded “Huma Abedin did have such an account which was used at times for government business.” Again, neither the State Department, Clinton, nor Abedin has provided information about the status of Abedin’s emails (or the emails of any other government employee) on the clintonemail.com server.

What conclusions can we draw from this?

These emails your JW forced out through a federal lawsuit show that Huma Abedin used her separate clintonemail.com account to conduct the most sensitive government business, endangering not only her safety but the safety of Hillary Clinton and countless others. And why on Earth would Ms. Abedin and Mrs. Clinton recklessly use this unsecure system to discuss foreign affairs and sensitive matters such as the Syria conflict?

Hillary Clinton’s email games were a danger to the nation’s security.

While the US Congress welcomed the socialist Pope Francis to speak before them, the Obama administration was quietly betraying the American people (again) and acting treasonously against the US Constitution.

The Pope has been rubbing elbows with American leaders, schmoozing with Washington’s elite, and espousing traditionally liberal talking points during highly politicized speeches, which has kept the media plenty busy covering his every move. As this has been happening, the Obama administration quietly released a man named Abdul Shalabi without anybody taking notice, until now.

Shalabi was being held at the infamous Guantanamo Bay detention facility in Cuba, so you know that he’s probably not the best person on the planet. That much is confirmed after you find out why he was put there to begin with.

Shalabi has a long resume in the world of terror, reports Derrick Wilburn for Allen West. Just how deep are his ties to terror? Well, you don’t get much more terroristic than Osama bin Laden, who Shalabi served as a bodyguard for, but it goes even deeper than that.

Shalabi was also a bodyguard for Kalid Sheik Mohammed, one of the masterminds behind the 9-11 attacks.

The Bush administration said that Shalabi was “too dangerous to release.” Well, if so, then the Bush administration should have proved their assertions, assertions I believe would have been clear and then removed Shalabi from the face of the earth. Derrick Wilburn points out, “The very idea that this man who worked side-by-side with Osama bin Laden can somehow be “rehabilitated” to no longer want to kill infidels, and, be rehabbed by the Muslim government of an Islamic nation – is beyond laughable. What does Obama think he’s going to do there now, train to become a valet? Take up needlepoint? Oh, I know, maybe open a bakery and make cakes for gay weddings.”

Exactly right. However, instead of dealing with Salabi justly, finding him guilty of his crimes and administering proper justice, the criminal Obama administration has set him free, and you can be sure he will re-engage the jihad, just as the five jihadis did that Obama illegally released in a swap for deserter Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.

So, once again Barack Hussein Obama puts America in jeopardy so he can side with the Muslims, and at the same time, House Speaker John Boehner, who has engaged the fight at all since he’s been in office, retreats to a life of retirement at tax expense. I say good riddance to Boehner, but when is Congress going to impeach the traitor-in-chief for giving aid and comfort to the enemy, including setting free a known jihadist, who will sure as the devil engage in the fight against the united States of America.

Division 30 is a U.S. training program assigned by President Obama for Syrians in Turkey, also known as the “Moderate” Muslim Rebels. The program is designed for them to learn our tactics, maneuvers for combat against ISIS, and we even issue and teach them how to use our weapons.

The second class of the “Moderate” Muslims Rebels graduated from the program two days ago. Yesterday they returned to Syria to take the battle to the enemies that are overrunning their country. Well, at least that was the plan; instead they handed over all of the weapons that we gave them to an Al-Qaeda affiliate by the name of Jabha Al-Nursa. The program is so bad that congress recently reported that only 4-5 American-trained Syrians remained on the battlefield against the Islamic State group.

The leader of Division 30, Anas Ibrahim Obaid, issued a statement repudiating the division and people who trained the “Moderate” Muslim Rebels. But of course he did, because the program has been funded $500 million dollars. He knows exactly how many troops they can train, how many weapons they can be issued with that kind of cash, and we all know that our resources will make it into the hands of the enemy to be used against the “infidels”.

You would think that the President would shut down the program, especially when the Chief of Staff resigned a week before the class graduated; or when he released a statement saying he left because the program was “not serious” and suffered “a lack of accuracy and method” in the selection of Division’s 30 cadre’s. But we know he will ignore all his military advisors to shut it down because he loves arming his Muslim brothers – and in my opinion, he’s building himself an army to destroy everything we stand for.

This isn’t the first time that this has happened, the President has been indirectly handing weapons to our enemies since he took over. How does he keep getting away with this? He needs to be impeached NOW while we still have time to save our country.

The Jersey City Board of Education last week voted down a proposal to take off a day of school for Eid al-Adha, an important Muslim holiday. Muslim attendees who wanted the day off for everyone at the schools showed up at their meeting.

Things became heated, and one official urged security to “take charge of the situation.” At least one person was escorted from the meeting. One Muslim parent said: “We feel alienated from this Board of Education, we feel alienated from this system.” Another added: “We’re going to be the majority soon.”

Islam is in fact the world’s fastest growing religion and is expected to grow from 1.6 billion to 2.76 billion by the year 2050, according to Pew. That means almost one third of the world’s population by 2050 will be Islamic, according to CNN.

Jersey City Board Member Gerald Lyons suggested that closing the schools with only six days notice would cause “undue hardship” on 5,000 to 10,000 parents, who would not have anywhere to send their children. Also, Lyons reminded parents that children can take the day off as an excused religious absence with no penalty.

Others mentioned that the important Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are not days off for the schools. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio decided last March that the city’s schools would have the holiday off, and this is the first year they will.

Good grief. Scott Walker can’t even drop out of the presidential race without invoking Ronald Reagan! He began his exit speech, “As a kid, I was drawn to Ronald Reagan …” then went on to read a statement written for him by GOP donors, calling on the other one-percenters (in the polls) to get out, so that the party can nominate a “conservative alternative to the current front-runner.”

A true admirer might have recalled that the front-runner terrifying Republican insiders in the summer of 1979 –– was one Ronald Reagan. (And surely, everyone remembers how Reagan’s constant droning on about Dwight Eisenhower propelled Dutch to victory and allowed him to crush the Soviet War machine and usher in 20 years of peace and prosperity.)

Which reminds me: Perhaps Donald Trump, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina are soaring in the polls not because they’re “outsiders,” but because they’re not dumb. I notice that, other than Ted Cruz, they’re the only GOP candidates for president who went to top schools.

I think we want a president who’s better than us.

Marco Rubio’s grandfather seems to have been cheering the little fellow up when he told Marco that, in America, “even I, the son of a bartender and a maid, could aspire to have anything, and be anything,” including president! At least since the late-1960s when the SATs, rather than geography or social class, began to determine college admissions, it seems very unlikely that a community college student could be elected president.

This is the problem with using the word “elites” to refer to Republican Party apparatchiks: They’re all such utter mediocrities.

I don’t mean to be unkind. It’s simply a fact.

Trump graduated from the Wharton School of Business and went on to make $11 billion. Carson went from Yale to the University of Michigan Medical School and was the first man to separate twins conjoined at the brain. Fiorina graduated from Stanford University and then earned $80 million in business.

By contrast, look up the educational achievement of the average pundit sneering at Trump’s idiocy and the ordinariness of his supporters. I won’t be as nasty as they are, but wow! – people who went to bush league schools shouldn’t throw stones. There’s nothing wrong with attending a bush-league college. But maybe ease up on holding yourself out as a great intellectual appalled by the dirty masses if you went to a third-rate college in the era of need-blind admissions.

These guys damn well better be good at what they do. But, to the contrary, Republican insiders are the Washington Generals to the Democrats’ Harlem Globetrotters. They enjoy being good losers. That’s their job.

The consultant class wants a neat, static world, where nothing ever changes. They produce an occasional tepid victory to create the illusion of a two-party system. But like Arafat with the PLO, Republican insiders don’t actually want to govern. The organization itself has become the cause — not the purported goals of the organization. Just keep the donations rolling in.

A majority of elected Republicans, their advisers, conservative magazines and newspapers are nothing but junior partners to the left. They go on TV and repeat prepackaged conventional wisdom, hoping to get at least a small ovation. Trump is popular because we now live in a Kardashian nation and are one big cult of celebrity!

By mounting only impotent opposition, professional Republicans win the admiration of The New York Times, as they turn our country over to the left. All that matters is that they get to keep their offices, their salaries and their friends.

It’s important for them to think of themselves as better than other people — especially those yahoo proletarian conservatives.

Ironically, it’s the Ivy League billionaire living a glamorous New York City life who has rocked the political world by speaking for ordinary Americans and insulting the powerful. Meanwhile, depressingly average Washington insiders insult ordinary Americans and suck up to the powerful.

When someone like Trump comes along and is actually serious about winning the very causes the GOP purportedly seeks to advance, he is seen as a disruptive force.

Most alarmingly, Trump brought up immigration. The Democrats thought they had this one in the bag — they’d worked it all out with Republicans! Both sides had agreed: I won’t talk about it if you won’t.

The decision has already been made: We aren’t going to ask the American people what they think. We’re just going to do this because we think we’re right, and at a certain point it will be impossible to reverse, because Republicans will never be able to win another national election.

The transformation of our country has been a deliberate, methodical process, carefully hidden from the public.

Until Trump started talking about immigration, most Americans had no idea that immigrants take more government assistance than natives, that we are allowing nearly half a million anchor babies a year to force their way into citizenship and a lifetime of welfare, and that we’re bringing in rapists, murderers and terrorists. Immigration is an easy argument to win. But if you talk about it, the media will cut your mike.

Once the Democrats get the voters they want through immigration, they will be like kids in a candy store. What will they do first? Ban private ownership of guns? Strip Christian churches of their tax exemptions for being “homophobic”? Release criminals from prison? Imprison the police? It will be the LBJ and Carter administrations rolled into one for all time, without end.

All the debates we have now on talk radio and cable news will be completely irrelevant. The most left-wing policies imaginable will be enacted, with no opposition — as they are today in California.

You might think California would wake up even the utter mediocrities in the Republican Party. But their predictable little lives have been disrupted. That’s why Trump has them in a panic.

‘Tacit’ deal between US, Russia to end Syria war: Assad adviser

Damascus (AFP) – Russia and the United States have reached a “tacit agreement” on ending Syria’s bloody crisis, a senior adviser to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has said. “The current US administration wants to find a solution to the crisis in Syria. There is a tacit agreement between the US and Russia to reach this solution,” Bouthaina Shaaban said in an interview with state television late Wednesday.

“The US recognises now that Russia has profound knowledge of this region and a better assessment of the situation,” she said.

“The current international climate is heading towards detente and towards a solution for the crisis in Syria.”

Shaaban said there was a “change in the West’s positions” over Syria’s war, which has killed more than 240,000 people and displaced millions since 2011.

Russia, a decades-long backer of Syria’s regime, has said it would not accept Assad’s departure as a prerequisite for launching any peace process in the war-torn country.

On Wednesday, French President Francois Hollande called for a new Syria peace conference “so that all the countries who want to see peace restored in Syria can contribute.”

While Hollande maintained that there could be “no transition without (Assad’s) departure,” German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Thursday that the Syrian leader should be involved in the talks.

“We have to speak with many actors, this includes Assad, but others as well,” Merkel told a press conference after an EU summit on the migration crisis sparked by the Syrian war.

The diplomatic flurry came amid concerns about increased Russian military support to Assad, including Moscow’s announcement Thursday that it would hold naval drills in the eastern Mediterranean region in September and October.

On Wednesday, the Syrian military deployed Russian-supplied drones for the first time, a security source in Damascus said.

The army has received new weaponry from Russia for its fight against jihadists, including at least five fighter jets, a senior Syrian military official told AFP.

A new book by Edward Klein claims Hillary Clinton exploded at President Barack Obama during an Oval Office meeting over her emails, telling him to “call off your f**king dogs,” the New York Post reported.

The Post said it obtained an excerpt of the book, “Unlikeable: The Problem with Hillary,” which is set to publish next Monday and indicates the former secretary of state believed Obama aides were behind leaks that led to multiple investigations of her. But her husband, former President Bill Clinton, reportedly didn’t want her to meet with Obama.

During the meeting, according to the book, Obama acted as though he didn’t know what Hillary was talking about. “He was almost being deliberately dense,” a Clinton source noted, the Post added. “It really angered her.” This allegedly led to Clinton breaking with White House decorum — calling Obama by his first name — and dropping the F-bomb.

“What I want for you to do is call off your f**king dogs, Barack!” the book claims Clinton yelled at Obama, citing sources close to Clinton and Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, the Post said.

Apparently, the president was sufficiently shocked by Clinton’s alleged outburst, so he needed a moment to compose himself.

“There is nothing I can do for you one way or another,” he allegedly responded. “Things have been set in motion, and I can’t and won’t interfere. Your problems are, frankly, of your own making. If you had been honest —”

The book says Clinton cut off Obama — “There are always haters out there to get the Clintons” — and then later regretted her behavior, but only because of the weakness she showed.

Nick Merrill, Clinton’s spokesman, told the Post that Klein’s claims are “bulls**t.”

“Another book? Someone should do a book about Ed,” Merrill told the paper. “They could call it ‘Bulls**t: The Problem With Anything Ed Klein Writes.’”

“The only true thing about him is his consistent and utter lack of a relationship with the facts,” Merrill continued to the Post. “He has more hair than credibility, and the man is bald. So we’re not going to get down in the gutter with him and his outrageous fabrications.”

Klein has authored numerous political-insider books and is the former foreign editor of Newsweek, former editor-in-chief of The New York Times Magazine, and a contributing editor of Vanity Fair.

GOP presidential candidate and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson has taken a lot of heat for comments he made on this weekend’s “Meet the Press,” in which he stated that he “would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation.” While Carson’s comments have drawn an uproar — the Council on American-Islamic Relations has called for Carson to withdraw from the race — it’s also sparked a discussion on the possibility of political Islam within the American system and its potential dangers.

One of the people supporting Carson’s position has been radio legend Rush Limbaugh. On his Monday show, Limbaugh said that the U.S. Constitution and Muslim law are incompatible.

“If you look into Shariah law, you will not find any consistency with the U.S. Constitution,” Limbaugh said.

“Shariah law is the law which is used to behead women in Islamic countries who have been raped,” he explained. “Shariah law is the reason women in Islamic countries can’t drive. Shariah law is so inconsistent with the U.S. Constitution. Ben Carson could not be more right.’

“And the question he was asked was in that context. ‘Well, do you believe that Islam is consistent with the Constitution?’” Limbaugh continued. “Well, Shariah law isn’t.”

Carson made the statement when “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd asked the candidate whether a candidate’s faith is relevant.

“I guess it depends on what that faith is,” Carson replied. “But, if it’s inconsistent with the values of America, then of course it should matter. But if it fits within the realm of America and consistent with the Constitution, no problem.

“I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation,” Carson continued. “I absolutely would not agree with that … Congress is a different story, because it depends on who that Muslim is and what their policies are, just as it depends on what anybody else says, you know.”

This elicited plenty of fury from media figures, as well as a call from the Muslim Brotherhood-linked CAIR group for Carson to withdraw.

“We call on our nation’s political leaders — across the political spectrum — to repudiate these unconstitutional and un-American statements and for Mr. Carson to withdraw from the presidential race,” CAIR national executive director Nihad Awad said.

Media coverage on Ahmed “Bomb-Clock” Mohamed has been remarkably one-sided, with the Mohamed family and the media spinning a tale of Islamophobia and overreaction. However, in an appearance on Glenn Beck’s The Blaze TV last night, the mayor of the city where Mohamed goes to school painted a starkly different picture. Among other revelations were her claims that the Mohamed family had stonewalled her and seemed more interested in talking with the Council on American-Islamic Relations and related groups than with city officials.

Irving, Texas, Mayor Beth Van Duyne said that, since Mohamed is a juvenile, they cannot release the records of what caused police to arrest him. She says that the family has refused to allow those records to be released, according to Townhall.com.

“The (Irving) school district, a number of times, has asked the family to release the records, so that you can have the balanced story out there,” Van Duyne said. “The family is ignoring the request from the ISD.”

The mayor said the records would “help to describe why it progressed as it did.”

“Nobody is going to walk in and say, ‘Oh you’re a 14-year old child, you’re totally cooperating, we have all the answers we need, let’s arrest you,’” Van Duyne said, adding she had information that Mohamed was being “passive aggressive” and “non-responsive” when police questioned him.

Van Duyne also noted that the family seemed more interested in seeking press than resolving the issue.

“We had tried to reach out to the family a number of times; this was before it ever even hit the papers on Wednesday,” Van Duyne said. “At the exact same time they were supposed to be meeting with us, they were on their front lawn with a press conference.”

Van Duyne also slammed President Barack Obama for jumping the gun on Ahmed Mohamed’s case.

“We never even got a call from anybody at the White House asking to verify any of that information,” Van Duyne said. “I don’t think the picture of the hoax bomb was even released before he tweeted ‘cool clock kid.’”

Van Duyne, adding that Irving officials were receiving death threats because of the case, said that the “teacher was reacting to the device, not the student.”

“If something had happened, and nobody had spoken up, people would be livid,” Van Duyne said. “Can you imagine if you were a parent at ISD and no one said anything?”

Abdul Shalabi, a Guantanamo detainee and former bodyguard of Osama bin Laden, was just released to Saudi Arabia, bringing the total number of detainees in the prison down to 114. This is the second transfer in under a week. Last week, the Department of Defense announced the release of Younis Abdurrahman Chekkouri to Morocco.

“The United States is grateful to the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its willingness to support ongoing U.S. efforts to close the Guantanamo Bay detention facility. The United States coordinated with the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to ensure this transfer took place consistent with appropriate security and humane treatment measures,” the Defense Department said in a statement.

A detainee assessment from 2008 found that 39-year-old Shalabi, who comes from a wealthy and educated family, not only served as bin Laden’s bodyguard, but also has familial ties to the bin Laden family. Shalabi belonged to al-Qaida and was part of an aborted component of the September 11 attacks. But Shalabi consistently denied involvement and claimed to be a religious teacher.

On December 15, 2001, Pakistani authorities captured Shalabi along with 31 other al-Qaida fighters, who were fleeing from Tora Bora, Osama bin Laden’s mountain complex.

Near the end of December, authorities transferred Shalabi over to U.S. custody, who then was sent to Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, where he stayed for 13 years.

At the time, the assessment determined Shalabi was too dangerous to release, but the board changed its mind in June, clearing him for release.

“The board also considered the detainee’s well-established family, their willingness and ability to support him upon his return, and their prior success in assisting with the rehabilitation and reintegration of a former Guantánamo detainee,” the review panel said.

There are 52 detainees left who have been cleared for release. The rest require further detention. President Barack Obama still wants to close the prison before his term is up, and so the Pentagon has investigated domestic facilities to hold detainees in the long-term if the administration manages to shutter Gitmo.

Federal investigators reportedly have recovered work-related and personal emails from Hillary Clinton’s time as secretary of state that the Democratic presidential front-runner claimed had been deleted from her personal server. The recovery of the emails was first reported by Bloomberg News late Tuesday. The initial report, which cited a source familiar with the FBI investigation into Clinton’s private email server, was corroborated by The New York Times, which cited two government officials. It was not immediately clear whether all 30,000 messages Clinton said she had deleted from the server had been recovered, but one official told the Times that it had not been difficult to recover the emails that had been found so far.

The FBI is investigating whether classified information that passed through Clinton’s so-called “homebrew” server during her time as secretary of state was mishandled. Clinton turned over approximately 30,000 copies of messages she deemed work-related to the State Department this past December. Clinton said earlier this year that the emails she deleted from the private server she kept at her Chappaqua, N.Y., home mostly pertained to personal matters such as her daughter Chelsea’s wedding and the secretary’s yoga routines.

An intelligence source told Fox News earlier this month that investigators were “confident” they could recover the deleted records. The source said that whoever had been deputized to scrub the server must “not be a very good IT guy. There are different standards to scrub when you do it for government versus commercial.”

It is not known when exactly Mrs. Clinton “wiped” her server, nor who was directed to do so. However, it seems the move came after October 2014, when the State Department requested personal emails be returned as part of her business records.

The source also told Fox News an FBI “A-team” is leading the “extremely serious” investigation into Clinton’s server and the focus includes a provision of the law pertaining to “gathering, transmitting or losing defense information. The section of the Espionage Act in question is known as 18 US Code 793.

When asked about the report, Clinton’s presidential campaign spokesman Nick Merrill told Fox News that Clinton’s team “will always cooperate with the FBI,” and that Clinton and her staff “simply don’t know what the FBI has, and doesn’t have” in regard to the ongoing investigation.

Fox News’ Ed Henry said Tuesday that should the report of the newly-recovered emails prove true, some of the emails recovered would already be in investigators’ hands.

A separate source, who also was not authorized to speak on the record, said the FBI will further determine whether Clinton should have known, based on the quality and detail of the material, that emails passing through her server contained classified information regardless of the markings. The campaign’s standard defense and that of Clinton is that she “never sent nor received any email that was marked classified” at the time.

It is not clear how the FBI team’s findings will impact the probe itself. But the details offer a window into what investigators are looking for — as the Clinton campaign itself downplays the controversy.

This radical group of Muslims is not pleased with the Mayor of Irving, Texas after she put the end to America’s first “Sharia Court.” Mayor Beth Van Duyne has accused mosque leaders of creating separate laws for Muslims, which is why the city voted to stop these supposedly “voluntary” tribunals from operating.

In a very close 5-4 vote, the city of Irving ruled to back the Texas state bill banning foreign law from the state. The bill doesn’t mention Sharia or any religion, but it’s a huge defeat for Sharia supporters, as such courts are in violation of the U.S. Constitution.

All four of the “voluntary” court’s lawyers were unlicensed in the state of Texas, a third degree felony. Mayor Beth Van Duyne received several phone calls on the matter. It seems that the Islamic Tribunal not only was unlicensed, but they failed to notify the city of their illegal court being operated in city limits. She promised to get to the bottom of it, and she did.

By their own website’s admission, if U.S. law conflicts with Sharia law, “we follow Sharia law.” It also openly admitted separate rules for men and women in their proceedings, discriminating and humiliating women which is against the U.S. Constitution. The Islamic Tribunal also openly declared that they hope [this] will “set a precedence that will be emulated and duplicated throughout the country.”

And while Muslims filled the city council hearing to voice their opposition, the Mayor shot back:

“This bill does not reference Shariah, Islam or even religion. It has nothing to do with preventing any tribunal,” Van Duyne told the crowd. “Why anyone would feel this is hatred or bigotry is absolutely beyond me.”

Good for Mayor Van Duyne! The legal system from the Islamic faith is incompatible with civilized Western cultures. To have anyone in America abiding by Sharia law is a dangerous precedent, which is why the city moved swiftly to outlaw the practice. No one is above the law!

We’re DOOMED: Look what Iran “discovered” during the very first nuke inspection

The Obama administration has been touting the checks and balances through inspections that will ensure Iran plays by the letter of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). They’ve stated there will be consequences to any violations by Iran – I don’t know what, because any restoration of sanctions requires a committee. As well, there was supposed to be a complete disclosure of any related documents to the U.S. Congress – but then we found out about the side deals between the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Iran.

And here’s just another example of how completely absurd this whole “deal” is, with the Iranians actually allowed to do their own inspections at one of its most sensitive sites.

Arutz Sheva (Israel National News) writes, ” As part of the recent nuclear deal, Iran on Monday handed over to the UN nuclear body alleged samples from the covert Parchin military base, which reportedly has been a key site used to test nuclear detonators. The samples were taken by Iranian scientists with UN scientists not allowed on the site.

The “environmental sampling from some specific parts within the Parchin complex” was conducted in the past week, Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi told state media. “It was done by Iranian experts, in the absence of IAEA inspectors,” Kamalvandi said, clarifying that International Atomic EnergyAgency (IAEA) staff who visited Iran last week were not allowed on the site.

The transfer of the materials comes in the framework of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) work to determine possible military aspects of Iran’s nuclear program by the end of the year, as part of a classified side deal between Iran and the IAEA that has been kept secret from the US Congress.”

That side deal stipulates that Iran will inspect Parchin itself, with no international inspectors allowed in. IAEA Chief Yukiya Amano on Sunday was granted brief access to Parchin during a one-day visit to the country, although his tour was a far cry from a full inspection of the site, which the IAEA has long requested access to that Iran has long denied.”

I would presume that in the case of wanting to establish good relations early in the stages of the JCPOA, Iran would be more accommodating — nah. Why should they when they hold the high ground? I’d like someone, anyone explain to me where Iran has shown any measure of contrition since “signing” the JCPOA. And of course the materials handed over by the Iranians are just perfect, kinda like Goldilock’s bowl of porridge — and that was a fairy tale too.

The Parchin military complex has been a controversial site and the Iranian regime has consistently kept inspectors from this site. “Despite Iran’s claims that Parchin is unrelated to its nuclear program, last October it admitted to using Parchin to test exploding bridge wires, used as nuclear detonators.”

Oops, another inconvenient truth for all parties involved, but then again what is truth regarding Iran? We will have no idea about what will exist on the ground in that country, now or in the future. And what is most disconcerting is the fact the West continues to acquiesce to Iran and accept their back handed actions. We have no verification apparatus in place to know what Iran is, or is willing, to do.

Some may say Iran is a sovereign country and has every right to restrict any access to its facilities. Nah, that would mean even as you seek to advance an agenda of terror in the world, you can make the case against transparency against evil. Perhaps the great Western powers back in 1936-1939 should have done something instead of allowing Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany to build its massive war machine. Ronald Reagan coined the phrase, “trust but verify”…with Iran we should not do the first because we will not be able to do the latter.

I’m no nuclear scientist but I know a little something about history. Every day Iran doesn’t have its nuclear program dismantled means we are marching closer to a greater global conflagration. Chamberlain said there would be “peace in our time.” Hitler said the 1938 Munich Accord was just a “piece of paper.” Just ask yourself, on which course do you believe we are embarking?

Salon.com published an op/ed by a self-described pedophile asking Americans to “learn to accept” pedophiles and be “understanding and supportive” of their “sexual orientation.”

“So, please, be understanding and supportive,” pedophile Todd Nickerson wrote. “It’s really all we ask of you.” He blamed his “sexual preference” on his brain while asserting he’s “not a monster.”

“In essence, your brain knows what it likes and isn’t going to take no for an answer,” Nickerson continued. “For that reason, the nature or nurture question with respect to sexual preference is ultimately irrelevant — it becomes all but hardwired soon enough, until it’s all you know, and it’s self-reinforcing, no matter how much you wish to dig it out.”

“Eventually it all tangles together with the rest of who you are.”

Numerous political commentators predicted that pedophiles would try to hijack the June 26 Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriages to argue that they too are “suffering” discrimination over their “normal” sexual orientation.

“Using the same tactics used by ‘gay’ rights activists, pedophiles have begun to seek similar status arguing their desire for children is a sexual orientation no different than heterosexual or homosexuals,” wrote Jack Minor for the Northern Colorado Gazette.

Minor also added that “psychiatrists are now beginning to advocate redefining pedophilia in the same way homosexuality was redefined several years ago.”

This trend began in 1998 when the American Psychiatric Association claimed the “negative potential” of adult sex with children was “overstated” and that “the vast majority of both men and women reported no negative sexual effects from childhood sexual abuse experiences.”

And in 2014 Margo Kaplan, an assistant law professor at Rutgers University, argued in favor of civil rights for pedophiles in an op/ed published by the New York Times. “Arguing for the rights of scorned and misunderstood groups is never popular, particularly when they are associated with real harm, but the fact that pedophilia is so despised is precisely why our responses to it, in criminal justice and mental health, have been so inconsistent and counterproductive,” she claimed.

Simply put, pedophilia is emerging as the next “sexual rights” revolution.

Who are the real enemies in the Middle East?

Is it ISIS – ransacking, raping and beheading its way across the region to carve out a new Caliphate and threatening terrorism inside U.S. borders – or is it Putin and his gang, cornering American statesmen in a deadly game of chess that could lead at any time to all-out nuclear war?

The answers may be conflicting, but it is clear that Obama has no idea what he is doing, and no way of containing all that confronts U.S. interests overseas. Check.

With Ukraine still boiling in the background, Vladimir Putin has taken things up a notch in Syria, by deploying 28 combat planes to aid Assad’s regime for reasons that don’t exactly rule out offensive attacks, or downplay concerns about Russian aggression..

This is just the latest and most pointed maneuver in the build-up of what has been dubbed “the largest deployment of Russian forces outside the former Soviet Union” since its collapse.

AFP reported that the Russia has sent in more than two dozen fighter planes to aid Assad against ISIS:

Russia has deployed 28 combat planes in Syria, US officials said Monday, confirming the latest move in Moscow’s increasing military presence in the war-torn nation.

“There are 28 fighter and bomber aircraft” at an airfield in the western Syrian province of Latakia, one of the officials told AFP… A second official… added there were about 20 Russian combat and transport helicopters at the base. That official also said Russia was operating drones over Syria.

This already complicated proxy war is taking on new dimensions, and arming up for a new phase of conflict.

As SHTF recently noted:

Russia’s military build-up in Syria has grown to include the shipment of a half-dozen highly sophisticated battle tanks — and more troops— [the] first clear sign of offensive weapons arriving in Syria,” a defense official told Fox News. “This is the largest deployment of Russian forces outside the former Soviet Union since the collapse of the USSR.”

The catch, of course, is that Russia is preparing to defend Assad against ISIS – not to pick a fight with the West. But looks could be deceiving, and the schism between East and West cuts too deep to allow for a unified front against terrorism.

AFP reports:

The United States has warned that Russian military backing for the Syrian regime only risks sending more extremists to the war-torn country and could further hamper any effort at bringing peace.

Moscow, meanwhile, has been on a diplomatic push to get the coalition of Western and regional powers fighting the Islamic State group to join forces with Assad against the jihadists.

The maneuver is interesting, because evidence continually points towards the covert Western-funding of Islamic State forces, as well as significant overlap between ISIS and anti-Assad rebel forces.

Putin’s latest tact would call the United States on the need to beat back the supposedly-unintentional outgrowth and takeover by the extremist ISIS forces in the region, and prioritize taking out America’s “number one terrorist threat” before belaboring the removal of Bashar al-Assad and empire building in the Middle East.

However, the bulk of United States’ diplomacy so far in the region appears much more concerned with Russia’s overt involvement than with eradicating ISIS forces. Record-sized war games have been acted out by both sides, and many military drills have doubled as stand offs that nearly sparked full-on war, according to reports. Will Putin call their bluff?

And what will it mean for the pending deal with Iran?

There is much, of course, that isn’t being said here, but on the surface, taking ISIS out of the equation would surely be a good thing.

As one commenter stated, “Excellent news. It’s time to get rid of the rebels so Syrians can return home.”

Good idea, only don’t hold your breath.

Twitter has exploded in recent days with violent threats targeting Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump.

While the left often accuses the right of engaging in vitriolic rhetoric, the number of threats directed against Trump far outweighs those leveled at Hillary Clinton.

A basic Twitter search for the terms “kill Donald Trump” and “murder Donald Trump” reveal a deluge of violent remarks directed at the Republican candidate in the aftermath of last week’s debate.

In comparison, similar threats against Clinton are almost non-existent.

Although the vast majority of the threats are obviously tongue-in-cheek, some of them come across as extremely menacing.

The ones that obviously carry no significant threat would still be denounced by the left if they were made against Bernie Sanders or Hillary.

For the past year, the left has been on a crusade to draw attention to violent and bullying threats made against left-wing activists and feminists, particularly in the context of the #Gamergate scandal. In turn, the media has repeatedly portrayed conservative and anti-social justice warrior Internet users as violent and hateful.

These tweets illustrate how many on the left are just as culpable of sending intimidating messages, if not more so than those on the right.

As we reported back in 2012, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney was also on the receiving end of numerous death threats during the campaign.

Islamist group Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) said today that liberalism can only co-exist with Islam if it is willing to submit to an Islamic system, as the ideology is a malleable man-made system compared to a religion that is bestowed by God.

Speaking in a forum on liberalism and faith, Isma president Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman said Islam cannot be reformed or amended by any parties, chiding so-called “liberal Muslim” for using Western philosophies born of “dark ages” in doing so.

“Liberalism can live hand-in-hand with faith, only if it’s willing to live under an Islamic system,” Abdullah said in the Liberalism Conference held by think-tank Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS). “If liberalism tries to redefine or reform Islam following the demands of liberal basis, that maybe can never be accepted by Islam.”

Abdullah had equated liberalism to religious pluralism, saying the ideology was borne out of the ancient “dark ages” in the Western world, in response to the domination of the Church.

In response, Dr Patricia Martinez from the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) — which represents over 90 per cent of the churches in the country — chided Abdullah Zaik for lumping liberalism together with Christianity and Judaism as scapegoats. She also took issue with the insistence of several state Islamic religious authorities that there is a liberal-Christian agenda to corrupt Muslims during Valentine’s Day, and the recent claim that whistleblower site Sarawak Report is part of an alleged Jewish-Christian agenda.

“These are very serious accusations against us. We are Malaysian citizens too,” said the CFM executive council member.

Last year, Isma had organised a closed-door multi-national seminar on tackling the alleged threat of liberalism, where Abdullah accused proponents of civil rights and liberties for championing their causes only for the sake of challenging religious values.

The group had last year stepped up its attack against what it called “liberalism” movement, saying Malaysians must stop the country from becoming a “liberal democratic” nation, alleging that it is a plot by the so-called global Zionist movement.

Carson doubles down on no Muslims in the White House

Republican presidential hopeful Ben Carson is standing by his view that a Muslim should not be president of the United States, telling The Hill in an interview on Sunday that whoever takes the White House should be “sworn in on a stack of Bibles, not a Koran.” Carson ignited a media firestorm in a Sunday morning interview with Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press,” in which he said he “would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation.” “I absolutely would not agree with that,” Carson said.

In an interview with The Hill, Carson opened up about why he believes a Muslim would be unfit to serve as commander in chief. “I do not believe Sharia is consistent with the Constitution of this country,” Carson said, referencing the Islamic law derived from the Koran and traditions of Islam. “Muslims feel that their religion is very much a part of your public life and what you do as a public official, and that’s inconsistent with our principles and our Constitution.”

Carson said that the only exception he’d make would be if the Muslim running for office “publicly rejected all the tenants of Sharia and lived a life consistent with that.” “Then I wouldn’t have any problem,” he said.

However, on several occasions Carson mentioned “Taqiyya,” a practice in the Shia Islam denomination in which a Muslim can mislead nonbelievers about the nature of their faith to avoid religious persecution. “Taqiyya is a component of Shia that allows, and even encourages you to lie to achieve your goals,” Carson said.

Pushing back at the media firestorm over his remarks, Carson sought to frame himself as one of the few candidates running for president willing to tell hard truths. “We are a different kind of nation,” Carson said. “Part of why we rose so quickly is because we wouldn’t allow our values or principles to be supplanted because we were going to be politically correct. … Part of the problem today is that we’re so busy trying to be politically correct, that we lose all perspective.”

Carson told The Hill that the question of a Muslim president is largely “irrelevant” because no Muslims are running in 2016. He said the question, which Todd is posing to all of the Republican presidential hopefuls who go on his show, “may well have been” gotcha journalism meant to trip the candidates up.

However, he acknowledged the question “served a useful purpose by providing the opportunity to talk about what Sharia is and what their goals are.”

“So often we get into these irrelevant things, because obviously if a Muslim was running for president, there would be a lot more education about Sharia, about Taqiyya,” Carson said.

The issue burst onto the scene last week when GOP front-runner Donald Trump declined to correct a questioner at a campaign rally who declared that President Obama is a Muslim. Carson said that if put in the same situation, he would have corrected the person at the rally. “I certainly would not have accepted the premise of a question like that,” Carson said.

However, the retired neurosurgeon declined to criticize Trump, saying those kinds of on-the-spot moments can be difficult to handle in the heat of the moment. “[Trump] may not have been ready for that,” Carson said. “I can tell you from experience a lot of these things are much easier when you’re quarterbacking from the armchair the next day.”

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a group that advocates for the spread of Islam, is calling on Ben Carson to withdraw from the presidential election for stating that Islam is “inconsistent” with the Constitution.

“I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation,” Carson said on Sunday’s Meet The Press. Islam, Carson explained, is “inconsistent with the values of America” and the U.S. Constitution.

Polling data indicates that Carson’s point is not without merit. According to the Pew Research Center, a majority of Muslims throughout South Asia, sub-Saharan African, the Middle East and North Africa favor “making Sharia the official law of the land.” Earlier this year, filmmaker Ami Horowitz interviewed Muslim residents of the Cedar Riverside section of Minneapolis, many of whom said that they would prefer to live under Sharia law.

One boy who was interviewed explained that he would rather live under Sharia law because it would promote safer communities: “Sharia law, it says that if you steal something, they cut off your hand,” the boy explained. “So, basically, [people] can leave their doors open. Nobody’s going to steal anything because Sharia is so tight.”

By definition, Sharia law contradicts the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and the separation of church and state.

Moreover, the natural-born-citizen clause of the Constitution would bar the vast majority of adult Muslim-U.S. residents from serving as commander-in-chief, according to 2011 data from Pew Research Center. Because only about a one third of the U.S. Muslim adult population was born in the United States, 63 percent of adult U.S. Muslims would be ineligible to serve as President.

As the Harvard Law Review has documented, the original purpose of the natural born citizenship clause was clearly laid out in a letter from John Jay to George Washington, in which Jay asks:

“[W]hether it would not be wise & seasonable to provide a… strong check to the admission of Foreigners into the administration of our national Government; and to declare expressly that the Command in chief of the american [sic] army shall not be given to, nor devolve on, any but a natural born Citizen”

In essence, the Founding Fathers were worried that even a British-born diplomat might be too foreign to run the country. Carson is suggesting the same may be true of a Sharia-compliant son of Somali refugees.

Carson’s assertion, however, has received strong criticism from the Islam expansion groups. CAIR announced that it will be holding a news conference demanding Carson’s withdraw from the race. “We call on our nation’s political leaders – across the political spectrum – to repudiate these unconstitutional and un-American statements and for Mr. Carson to withdraw from the presidential race,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad.

CAIR had similarly strong words for GOP frontrunner Donald Trump because Trump refused to forcibly silence and embarrass a supporter who asked Trump how he plans to combat terrorist training camps in the United States.

The billionaire’s refusal to publically berate the blue-collar questioner John-McCain-style, “sent the message that Islamophobia is acceptable,” declared CAIR Government Affairs Manager, Robert McCaw.

This, however, is not the only issue upon which CAIR disagrees with Donald Trump. CAIR, which critics have described as a “Muslim Brotherhood front group” with a “solicitous stance toward accused terrorists“, has similarly called for mass increases in the number of Muslim refugees admitted to the United States—on top of the tens of thousands of refugees the United States already admits annually. Donald Trump has argued that Muslim countries– not the United States– should be willing to take in some of the Muslim migrants.

On September 13th, the St. Louis chapter of CAIR co-sponsored a “Bring Them Here” march calling for the admission of even more Muslim migrants into the United States. The local CAIR chapter is pushing the United States to open its borders to all Muslim refugees who would like to be admitted, KMOV-TV St. Louis reports. “Organizers, in fact, say the U.S. should not even stop at ten thousand [additional refugees]. They’re pushing for St. Louis to open its doors to any and all refugees who would like to come here.”

At the same time that CAIR and other political Islam groups want to flood Western countries with Muslim migrants, they have no condemnation for the Islamist values and principles that have plunged one of the most world’s populous regions despair. “Either we let them in, or we take the statue of liberty down,” declared Faizan Syed, executive director of the St. Louis CAIR chapter told KMOV-TV.

Experts warn that such a policy would allow for the admission of Islamic extremists who wish to commit acts of terror on Western soil.

Chairman of the House Counterterrorism and Intelligence Subcommittee, Rep. Peter King (R-NY) has explained that there is, “no real way of vetting, to any extent, these refugees coming in.” King’s warning echoes that of FBI Counterterrorism Assistant Director Michael Steinbach, who earlier this year said it is impossible to do background checks on the refugees because Syria, “a failed state, does not have any infrastructure so to speak. So all the data sets, the police, the intel services, that you would normally go to and seek that information, don’t exist.”

Moreover, as the explosion of ISIS recruitment in Minnesota’s little Mogadishu has demonstrated, even if Sharia-law supporting Muslims were not explicitly enrolled in terror groups prior to their entry into the United States, there is nothing preventing them from striking out violently against the Western culture they view as oppressive once they are admitted into the United States. Opponents of relocating millions of Muslims into the West worry that they will bring with them the same violence, balkanization and failed political systems that their religion created throughout the Middle East.

Not all Republican candidates, however, are opposed to CAIR’s American-Islam expansion agenda. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), for instance, has proposed policies and legislation which would add substantially to CAIRs ranks.

Every year the United States voluntarily imports more than a quarter of a million– or 280,000– Muslim migrants (this number includes 117,423 migrants who were permanently resettled with Legal Permanent Resident status, as well as an additional 122,921 temporary Muslim workers and foreign students, and 39,932 Muslim refugee and asylees). This means that each year, the U.S. admits a number of Muslim migrants larger in size than the entire population of Des Moines, Iowa. The United States accepts at least 300 times more Muslim migrants than Mexico.

Yet Marco Rubio believes that number should be even greater.

Rubio is running on a platform of reducing labor costs for corporations and increasing diversity—or what he calls a New American Century.

Importing millions of poor migrants from failed and developing nations will enrich the country with the more diverse languages, vibrant classrooms, colorful neighborhoods, and a wider array of cultural values– allowing the United States to fulfill its exceptional potential and spread liberty and American democracy to the inhabitants from all over the world.

While mass muslim immigration has had been some negative consequences—such as an explosion of U.S. Female Genital Mutilation, an increase in homegrown terrorism, and the development of radicalized communities such as Dearborne, Michigan and Minneapolis, Minnesota– the benefits to big businesses and job creators will be enormous.

Rubio’s plan to expand the number of Muslim migrants admitted into the nation central to his vision for a “New American Economy”.

For instance, his H-1B bill currently before Congress—known as the I-Squared bill—would substantially increase Muslim immigration by lifting green card caps for foreign students and tripling the number of foreign workers admitted on visas. One of the bill’s biggest corporate backers, Disney—has already begun using these cost-effective foreign workers on H-1b visas to replace the more expensive American workers.

Rubio’s proposals to bring about this New American Economy have been endorsed by business groups and billionaires alike such as the Chamber of Commerce, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Sheldon Adelson, Disney’s Bob Iger and one of Rubio’s top donors, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison.

It is possible, however, that Rubio’s pledge to import more Muslim migrants might create some tension with his foreign policy goals.

Polls indicate that poor migrants from developing nations might not be overly receptive to Rubio’s goal of increasing military involvement in the Middle East.

As the 2016 race continues to unfold, it will be interesting to see how Rubio’s campaign is hawkish foreign policy is received in Dearborne, Michigan and Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) declined to support Ben Carson’s recent claim that he would not “advocate” for a Muslim president, instead citing the U.S. Constitution.

“You know, the Constitution specifies there shall be no religious test for public office and I am a constitutionalist,” Cruz said during an interview on Iowa public television on Sunday.

The Texas Republican also seemed disinterested in debating the faith of President Barack Obama, which again became a topic of conversation after a man accused the president of being a Muslim at a Donald Trump rally.

“The president’s faith is between him and God,” Cruz said. “What I’m going to focus on is his public policy record.”

When asked about the potential of thousands of refugees settling in the U.S., Cruz said Muslim refugees could pose a terrorist threat.

He added that “Christians are a very different circumstance because Christians are being persecuted, they are being persecuted directly for their faith and the Obama administration has abandoned Middle East Christians.”

President Obama, in a historic first for the Pentagon, has chosen to nominate Eric Fanning to lead the Army, a move that would make him the first openly gay civilian secretary of one of the military services. Fanning, 47, has been a specialist on national security issues for more than two decades and has played a key role overseeing some of the Pentagon’s biggest shipbuilding and fighter jet programs. Now he will oversee an Army that has been battered by the longest stretch of continuous combat in U.S. history and is facing potentially severe budget cuts. It’s also an Army that after a long stretch of patrolling Iraqi and Afghan villages is searching for its postwar role in protecting the nation. Fanning’s nomination, which must go to the Senate for confirmation, reflects a major shift for the Pentagon, which only four years ago prevented openly gay troops from serving in the military. The policy didn’t extend to civilian leaders, such as Fanning.

His long tenure in the Pentagon and his breadth of experience in shepherding some of the department’s most complex and sensitive weapons programs was a key factor in his nomination for the Army’s top job, administration officials said. “Eric brings many years of proven experience and exceptional leadership to this new role,” Obama said in a statement.

Fanning’s rise to one of the Pentagon’s toughest and most prominent jobs also reflects the Obama’s commitment to diversity at the highest levels of his administration. During his time in office, Obama has overhauled internal policies to provide federal benefits to same-sex partners, appointed gay men and lesbians to the executive branch and the federal courts and ended the 18-year ban on gays serving openly in the military.

As Army secretary, Fanning will be teamed with Gen. Mark Milley, who took over in August as the Army’s top general, the chief of staff. The two men will assume responsibility for the Pentagon’s largest and most troubled service.

The Army, which swelled to about 570,000 active-duty troops during the height of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, has shed about 80,000 soldiers in recent years and plans to cut 40,000 more over the next few years. The planned cuts would shrink the service to its smallest size of the post-World War II era.

Battered by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Army has had to deal with a spike in suicides as the wars drew to an end. Recently, the Army’s outgoing chief of staff, Gen. Ray Odierno, said that tight budgets and the ongoing strain of 14 years of war had badly degraded the Army’s readiness to fight and that only one-third of its brigades were prepared to deploy to a war zone, the lowest readiness rate in decades.

In a sign of how much the country has changed in the past decade, Fanning’s sexual orientation seemed a non-issue among Republicans and Democrats in Congress, who were far more worried about the state of the Army.

“There is a real crisis in morale and retention that has developed for the Army over the last several years,” said Joe Kasper, chief of staff to Rep. Duncan D. Hunter (R-Calif.). “The Army needs a leader who will stand up for soldiers, who recognizes war can get ugly and who won’t shy away from the tough issues. If Fanning is that type of person, he’ll be embraced.”

Fanning’s historic appointment didn’t seem to cause a stir in the Army, either.

“My sense is that the Army is over this and has been over it for some time,” said Phil Carter, a veteran of the war in Iraq and senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security. “The Army cares whether you can shoot straight, not whether you are straight.”

Fanning’s role as Army secretary would give him influence over the selection of the generation of generals who will rebuild the service after the wars. One big question for the Army is whether, in an era of tight budgets, it will return primarily to preparing for heavy combat missions against a big, conventional military, such as the Russians, or experiment with new formations that are better suited to training and working alongside indigenous partners.

“The biggest problem the Army faces is finding its mission, relevance and purpose after the Iraq and Afghanistan wars,” Carter said. “All of the services face it, but the Army faces it most acutely.”

Fanning has been a trusted ally of Defense Secretary Ashton B. Carter, who tapped Fanning last year to oversee his transition team as he moved into the Pentagon’s top job. He also served briefly as acting Air Force secretary, a deputy undersecretary of the Navy and has been acting undersecretary of the Army since June 2015.

Fanning’s new boss in the Pentagon described him as “one of our country’s most knowledgeable, dedicated, and experienced public servants.”

Defense officials said that Fanning might be the only person in history to serve at senior levels in all three services. “He understands how the Pentagon works and how to get things done in the Pentagon,” said Rudy de Leon, who was deputy defense secretary in the Clinton administration. “He knows what works and what doesn’t work.”

Fanning’s knowledge of the costly and complicated world of weapons development is needed in the Army, which has struggled to field new combat systems in recent decades. Since 2000, the Army has been forced to cancel virtually all of its major new weapons programs because they ran over budget or didn’t perform as expected.

New battlefield equipment for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, such as special armored vehicles designed to resist blasts from roadside bombs, had to be developed outside of the Army’s traditional procurement channels.

The net result is that many of the Army’s most sophisticated helicopters, tanks and artillery were developed more than 30 years ago.

“The Army is still living off equipment from the Reagan years,” de Leon said. With budgets tight, Fanning’s challenge will be to upgrade and modernize the aging fleet using modern information technology.

House votes to freeze federal funding for Planned Parenthood

The House on Friday voted along party lines to freeze federal funding for Planned Parenthood after weeks of escalating tension surrounding its use of fetal tissue. In a 241-187 vote, nearly all Republicans and two Democrats approved legislation that would block Planned Parenthood’s federal funding for one year, giving time for Congress to fully investigate claims of wrongdoing by the provider. Lawmakers also passed a bill tightening restrictions on abortion doctors who violate infant protections in a 248-177 vote.

“What we’ve learned about Planned Parenthood is appalling, barbaric and indefensible,” Rep. Keith Rothfus (R-Pa.) said.

Three Republicans broke ranks to vote against the funding freeze: Reps. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.), Robert Dold (R-Ill.) and Richard Hanna (R-N.Y.). The Democrats voting to defund were Reps. Dan Lipinski (D-Ill.) and Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.), who are both opposed to abortion rights.

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) voted “present,” objecting that the measure would allow Planned Parenthood to perform abortion in cases of rape, incest, and when the mother’s life is at risk.

An official with the Planned Parenthood Action Fund ripped the vote as a “callous attempt to insert politics into women’s heath.”

“Millions of Americans rely on Planned Parenthood for birth control, lifesaving cancer screenings, and other critical preventive care, and nothing that politicians in Congress did today will change the fact that our doors remain open to everyone, in every part of this country, who needs high-quality, compassionate reproductive health care,” said Eric Ferrero, the action fund’s vice president of communications.

The House vote represents the first time that congressional Republicans have approved legislation to defund Planned Parenthood in the wake of this summer’s undercover video controversy. The vote is largely symbolic, as Democrats are expected to block the bill in the Senate.

Cutting off Planned Parenthood’s federal funding would result in a net savings of $235 million over a decade, according to a report this week by the Congressional Budget Office. It would also cut off access for as many as 600,000 patients, resulting in “several thousand” unplanned births.

House GOP leaders hope the legislation will help avert a government shutdown by appeasing the dozens of conservatives who have pledged to defund Planned Parenthood at all costs. Lawmakers have five legislative days left to pass a spending bill and stop the shutdown that GOP leadership is aggressively working to avoid.

The vote is unlikely to placate conservatives, however. Thirty-one members are still vowing not to vote for any spending bill, known as a continuing resolution (CR), that includes Planned Parenthood funds.

King said Friday’s action “is not a sufficient vote to defund Planned Parenthood.”

“I expect much stronger language than this in the CR coming up in the next few weeks,” King said. “Innocent, unborn babies deserve more than just a show vote.”

Conservative Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.) has said standalone defunding votes, even with the fast-track process of reconciliation to get through the Senate, are not good enough. “Unless it’s tied to must-pass legislation, there’s no chance of success,” he said. “Everybody knows that.”

Democrats are seizing on the growing risk of a second GOP-led shutdown in two years. A half dozen House Democrats took to the floor Friday blasting the abortion bills. “The Republicans just want to shut the government down if we don’t fund Planned Parenthood. That’s what they’re all about,” said Rep. Frank Pallone, the top Democrat on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

GOP supporters of the bill sought to distance it from the politically toxic topic of a shutdown. “We are not on a bill about a government shutdown,” Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) said as she managed the floor debate. “Most people think that this is common sense. If there is reason to investigate, then there is reason to withhold taxpayer dollars during that period of time,” Blackburn said. “There is bipartisan opposition from men and women to this practice.”

Republicans spoke at length about allegations that Planned Parenthood has been “harvesting” fetal organs on the floor, while Democrats sought to rebut them. “No wrongdoing was shown. There’s no criminal charges, there’s no charges at all, pending against Planned Parenthood,” Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Col.) said.

Minutes later, Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Calif.), accused a Republican colleague of making “a complete falsehood” on the floor. “Planned Parenthood does not sell any body parts for profit. That is a fact,” she said.

The bills passed after several hours of emotional floor speeches that included graphic descriptions of botched abortions and comparisons to the convicted abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell. “I am getting emotional here because it is an emotional issue for me,” said. Rep Phil Roe (R-Tenn.), who said he delivered more than 3,000 babies in his 30 years as an obstetrician.

Republicans also highlighted the veto threats by the Obama administration, which has condemned the efforts to defund Planned Parenthood. Federal officials have said Obama would veto an expansion of the born-alive protection bill. “When you saw the president come out yesterday and say he would veto this bill, how extreme can someone be?” House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) said. “This should be a place where we can all come together.”

Democrats said the proposed changes to the born-alive protection bill are overly broad, and intended to intimidate abortion providers out of practice. “It is already illegal to fail to provide care to an infant born alive,” Rep. Judy Chu (D-Calif) said. “What this bill does is to vilify abortion providers.”

Politico, for once, said it best:

If you want to stump a Democrat, ask them to name an accomplishment of Hillary Clinton,” Carly Fiorina quipped at Wednesday’s Republican debate. The line got hearty applause—but it also cut to the core of one of the defining lines of attacks against the former first lady and Democratic presidential frontrunner. After nearly forty years in public life, what exactly has she accomplished.

It’s a question that even, at times, has tripped up Clinton herself: During her 2014 book tour, when ABC’s Diane Sawyer asked her about her “marquee achievement,” Clinton changed the subject and she fumbled over a similar question during a women’s forum in Manhattan last year. “I see my role as secretary—in fact leadership in general in a democracy—as a relay race. You run the best race you can run, you hand off the baton. Some of what hasn’t been finished may go on to be finished,” she told Thomas Friedman.

The question Fiorina posed has also tripped up members of the Obama administration. When State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki was asked last year to “identify one tangible achievement” accomplished through one of Hillary Clinton’s key projects as Secretary of State—the first-ever audit of the department—Psaki punted, “I am certain that those who were here at the time, who worked hard on that effort, could point out one.”

Hillary’s supporters have been stumped too. When Bloomberg Politics’ Mark Halperin asked a focus group of Iowans this summer about Hillary Clinton’s accomplishments, one Democratic supporter said, “I honestly can’t say I followed along [with] everything that was going on.”

So is Fiorina right? Are Democrats really unable to defend Clinton’s record on the merits? To find out, Politico Magazine on Thursday asked the nation’s top Democratic leaders and thinkers to name Hillary Clinton’s biggest accomplishment.

And here are their funniest responses:

1) Her role in killing Osama bin Laden. (Her role? Was she in that chopper that took sniper fire? Or was she the one who cold-tapped him?)

2) The sanctions that brought Iran to the table. (And now laughing to the bank.)

3) She empowered women in the 112 countries she visited. (Did that stop one woman from suffering genital mutilation, or one woman from being beaten by her husband, or one woman from being whipped for walking around outside without a male relative?)

4) She worked to create jobs at the Center for Bioinformatics at the University of Buffalo. (This is her signature accomplishment. She will be known as the Bioinformatics president.)

5) Renewing diplomatic relations with Myanmar. (Shouldn’t her greatest accomplishment be locatable on a map?)

6) Winning the U.N. resolution supporting military intervention in Libya. (They want to talk about Libya? Really?)

7) Helped Haiti recover from an earthquake. (Sure. Go to Haiti now. It has gleaming skyscrapers just like Singapore, and Hillary built them all.)

8) She was the point person in Copenhagen in compelling the Chinese to commit to cutting carbon emissions. (David Axelrod said this, but I am not sure if he was joking. The Chinese have not actually cut a thing. And even if they did, it would be in service to solving an imaginary problem.)

9) As first lady, Hillary was the point person in the Clinton administration on the Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997. (It’s not encouraging when they have to reach back to her “married to the president” job to find something.)

10) Hillary Clinton defined and tried consistently to implement a “smart power” diplomacy. (So how exactly did that work out?)

11) The world is safer and people are more free thanks to Hillary Clinton. (People in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Iran, Cuba, North Korea, Russia, China, Israel, and of course the United States would surely agree.)

I think Hillary could give any of these ridiculous answers with a straight face. The only question is whether we are going to get a nominee who will to call her on it (like Trump), or a nominee who will hang his head guiltily for even asking the question (like Bush).

Obama Admin Will Not Reveal to Congress Number of Americans Killed By Iran

In a series of on-the-record responses obtained exclusively by the Free Beacon, and provided in written form to Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.), Kerry sidestepped the questions on all of the three separate occasions he was asked to provide the figures. The questions come as the United States prepares to unfreeze more than $100 billion in Iranian assets under the terms of the recently inked nuclear deal. Experts fear the Islamic Republic will funnel the cash windfall into its rogue terror operations and proxy groups.

Lawmakers and experts also have expressed concern about portions of the deal that will lift international sanctions on the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), as well as Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s financial empire.

In the list of questions submitted to Kerry, Rubio asks: “How many U.S. citizens have been killed by Iran, including by Iran’s terrorist proxies, since 1979?”

The secretary of state declined to provide an answer, instead saying that the administration takes the murder of American citizens “very seriously.”

“The death of any U.S. citizen due to acts of terrorism is a tragedy that we take very seriously,” Kerry writes. “As the President said in his Aug. 5 speech, a nuclear-armed Iran is a danger to Israel, America and the world.”

“The central goal of the JCPOA [Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action] is to eliminate the imminent threat of a nuclear-armed Iran,” Kerry continued.

When asked a second time by Rubio to specify “How many U.S. troops and soldiers were killed by Iranian-provided weapons or by Iranian-backed militias in Iraq and Afghanistan,” Kerry said, again sidestepping the question.

“We are extraordinarily grateful for the service of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces, and we mourn the loss of every service member,” Kerry writes. “The JCPOA is not about a change in the broader U.S. relationship with Iran. It is about eliminating the biggest and most imminent threat—a nuclear-armed Iran.”

When separately asked to detail “how many Israelis have been killed by Iran, including by Iran’s terrorist proxies since 1979,” Kerry again declined to respond.

“The central goal of the JCPOA is to eliminate the imminent threat that Iran will acquire a nuclear weapon,” Kerry said. “But the JCPOA cannot erase decades of Iranian anti-American and anti-Israeli rhetoric and actions.”

A State Department official told the Free Beacon that no further information on these questions could be provided beyond what Kerry wrote.

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R., Texas) told the Free Beacon that the administration’s reluctance to provide information about Iran’s efforts to kill Americans is “unconscionable.” “It is a fact that Iran is the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and that they have killed and maimed thousands of upstanding military men and women at the hands of sheer hate,” said Gohmert, who has been a vocal critic of the Iran deal.

“It is unconscionable that the Obama administration is refusing to answer questions on just how many Americans have been killed or maimed by Iran,” the lawmaker said. “One thing we know— Iran says they will continue their efforts to destroy the United States and its people so one hundred billion dollars will allow Iran to kill and maim multiples of the numbers of Americans they already have killed and maimed, making the Obama administration knowing accessories.”

Michael Pregent, director of the advocacy organization Veterans Against the Deal, called it shocking that the administration would not release these figures.

“We find it absurd that the Obama administration and the State Department would deny information on Iran’s direct role in the deaths of Americans in Iraq from sitting U.S. senators,” said Pregent, whose organization has released several ads highlighting Iran’s terror operations against U.S. soldiers.

“For the State Department to protect Iran by keeping information detrimental to Iran’s Quds force and [IRGC Leader] Qasem Soleimani from the American people is an affront to veterans affected by this enemy and service members currently in harms way in Iraq and Afghanistan,” Pregent said.

Recent estimates by U.S. intelligence officials put the number of American soldiers killed by Iran in Iraq and Afghanistan at around 500.

The issue of Iran’s terror funding has emerged as a key concern among critics of the nuclear accord.

A Free Beacon report revealed that Iran has been spending billions of dollars to pay the salaries of terrorists. This includes potentially millions of dollars in monthly payments to pro-government forces in Syria, more than $1 billion in military aid to fighters in Iraq, and about $20 million annually to Hamas terrorists, according to a private report commissioned by Sen. Mark Kirk (R., Ill.).

The report was assembled following a request by Kirk for the Obama administration to disclose its estimates of “Iranian military spending, as well as Iranian assistance to Houthi rebels in Yemen, Shiite militias in Iraq, the Assad government, Hezbollah, and Hamas,” according to a copy of that report.

Kerry additionally discloses in his responses to Rubio that Iran is permitted to test fire ballistic missiles under the nuclear accord.

“It would not be a violation of the JCPOA [Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action] if Iran tested a conventional ballistic missile,” Kerry disclosed in the document.
