Horowitz: Seattle commuter shooting: Nearly 70 prior arrests among three suspects

Isn’t it time we “do something” about shootings in America? Well, last week there was a shooting at one of downtown Seattle’s busiest street corners, yet it was barely covered by the media. There were about 75 opportunities to “do something” to prevent the murder, as is the case with almost every major city shooting you don’t hear about in the media. This is yet another example of the need for criminal control as a more effective public safety tool than gun control.

Last Wednesday night, right around rush hour, gunfire erupted on a busy Seattle street near a bus stop with numerous commuters and pedestrians nearby. One person was killed and seven were wounded, including a 9-year-old boy. This wasn’t the typical gang fight that erupted deep in a bad neighborhood; it placed numerous commuters in the crossfire. Two Amazon workers were shot.

The suspects are Marquise Latrelle Tolbert, 24, William Ray Tolliver, 24, and Jamel Linonell Jackson, 21. Tolbert and Tolliver are on the run, while Jackson is in custody of local police.

William Ray Tolliver has at least 44 prior arrests and 20 convictions, for offenses including unlawful possession of a firearm, theft, malicious mischief, and assault.

Marquise Latrelle Tolbert has over 20 arrests, with 15 convictions, including for robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, discharging a firearm in a public place, theft, and harassment.

Both men were arrested in 2018 for drive-by shooting and weapons violations but appear not to have served time in prison. Police believe they are both members of a local gang.

What about Jamel Jackson? According to KIRO, he had a prior robbery conviction and two prior convictions for unlawful handgun possession. Yes, it was 100 percent illegal for him to have a gun, but he was caught on camera with a gun at the scene of this crime. He has barely served time in prison, according to court records – just four months of “work release” in 2017 – and even after this incident he is only being held on $50,000 bond. In a 2017 case, police charged that he was a gang member and “likely to commit a violent offense.”

Here we have three suspects with a total of nearly 70 prior arrests, including for violent crimes and gun offenses. But Washington state is a notorious criminal justice “reform” state with an egregious record of releasing both violent domestic criminals and violent illegal aliens.

Washington is also one of the states that is weakening its “three strikes” law. Under the law, those convicted of three violent crimes are supposed to serve time for life, but Gov. Jay Inslee has been consistently granting clemency to the most violent criminals. As KIRO radio host Dori Monson reported last week, Inslee released one three-strike offender who was convicted of stealing 27 guns as his last offense. He violated the terms of his clemency twice and then disappeared. He is now a fugitive criminal in California and is wanted by police for several crimes.

This is the story of almost every shooting and violent crime in America. There have been 943,591 homicides in America from 1966 through 2018. Almost all of them are committed by known criminals who are let back out on the streets, and very few of them are committed with AR rifles. If we only locked up the violent gun felons, most murders would be prevented. Instead, the very people who want gun control are the ones who think that a system that already fails to confine violent gun felons and gangsters is too punitive.

A Prayer

My Own Two Cents

hyperbole

[hīˈpərbəlē]

NOUN

Exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally.

synonyms:

exaggeration · overstatement · magnification · amplification · embroidery · embellishment · overplaying · excess · overkill · purple prose · puffery

Abundantly used by politicians since a politician was created. It is especially used when cameras are rolling and they know their “hyperbole” will be heard by constituents, and anyone else they might be able to sway to their distorted view.

When does “hyperbole” become slander?

When does “hyperbole” become lies?

When does “hyperbole” become PROPAGANDA?

No where do we see this more clearly than The House Managers, especially Chairman Schiff. In fact, it’s rare when he does NOT speak in “hyperbole”.

It’s no secret to any casual watcher of this impeachment trial, that the Leftist are wallowing in “hyperbole”. Each speech, each presentation, is replete with “hyperbole”. Knowing they have a national audience, their determination to paint President Trump in the most extreme way is palpable. It’s all about the 2020 vote, and nothing else.

Let’s look at another definition:

quid pro quo

[ˌkwid ˌprō ˈkwō]

NOUN

A favor or advantage granted or expected in return for something.

Synonyms: exchange · trade · trade-off · swap · switch · barter · substitute · substitution · reciprocity · reciprocation · return · payment

As I said earlier in the week, we will never know how extensively every President has used quid pro quo in dealing with multiple nationals heads of state. Yes, the Leftist know it; Yes the Leftist knows it will continue to be used; Yes, the Leftist know no one will stop it from happening. So, why aren’t the RINO’s calling forcing the issue and just settle the issue that it has always been the practice of any government in dealing with any other government?

Back to “hyperbole”. This morning Chairman Schiff actually accused President Trump of “utter destruction of Congress”. Let that swirl around in your mind for a minute. “Hyperbole”????????

When you talk with your Leftist friends; co-workers; in-laws; outlaws; neighbors; et., al., be patient with those that can’t see the “hyperbole”. Gently let them know that “hyperbole” is not, nor can it ever be, fact(s).

Yes, the Leftist hates President Trump. Why? I only have guesses like anyone else;

  • He’s not a politician. Therefore he doesn’t talk the talk?
  • His form of “hyperbole” is directed at them, and exposes their frailties and failures?
  • He was abundantly successful as a businessman, all without their help?
  • He’s an “outsider”?
  • He gets the job done?
  • He can get jobs done quicker, without bureaucracy, under budget, and far greater quality?
  • He talks plainly without “political speak”?
  • He can’t be bought?
  • Most of the electorate love him?
  • He can’t be controlled by Congress?
  • He’s right?

Your guesses are as good as mine, and any other attempts at supposition. All I can see so far is that these Leftist are more determined than ever to rid America of anyone in their way to drag this country, kicking and screaming, into the depths of socialism. They are most angry that the path has been interrupted by this man they cannot tolerate.

That brings me to these thoughts:

  • Will there be a civil war, started by Antifa, if President Trump is not impeached?
  • If not, will there be civil war should President Trump be re-elected?
  • Is it possible that the Leftist has so divided this nation that America will never be the same?
  • Other than a truly God-inspired revival, is there any way to save our country?

Ann Coulter OPED: Fully Automatic Media

The tedium of the impeachment trial has at least allowed me to catch up on my reading. Apparently, there was a peaceful gun rights rally in Virginia last week that had the media in a panic.

Today, I will explain how their hysteria about the gun rally is directly related to their hysteria about the Russians throwing the 2016 election with Facebook ads — or, as MSNBC’s Brian Williams put it, using Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to turn Americans against one another, psychological and information warfare, that didn’t stop with the election.”

First, the moral panic on guns:

“Virginia’s capital braces for gun-rights rally” — The Associated Press
“New fears tied to a pro-gun rally that’s scheduled in Virginia” — NBC News
“A gun rights rally in Richmond on MLK Day has people fearing a repeat of Charlottesville” — Richmond Times Dispatch

As we have come to expect, the “newspaper of record,” The New York Times, bested them all:

“Virginia Capital on Edge as F.B.I. Arrests Suspected Neo-Nazis Before Gun Rally”

Wow — neo-Nazis! Wait, what did the arrest of “neo-Nazis” have to do with the Virginia gun rally?

Not a thing, it turns out.

The FBI had arrested three white guys with guns in another state the week before the rally. One of the men was an illegal alien from Canada. Three of the four charges against the men had to do with his immigration status.

What does the arrest of an illegal alien and his accomplices in Maryland have to do with a gun rally in Virginia? As the Times explained, “Although the charges were not directly linked to the Richmond rally, law enforcement officials said the three men had discussed attending it.”

Here’s an idea for you, New York Times. Every time an African American is arrested for some infamous crime, cite that arrest in a headline claiming that people are “on edge” about a coming NAACP convention — or maybe a meeting of black scientists.

“Virginia Capital on Edge as F.B.I. Arrests R. Kelly Before NAACP Convention” (Just say Kelly had “discussed attending it”!)

The media are liars, and they know they’re liars. We’ve been having gun rights rallies forever, and they’ve never turned into murderous bacchanals. How about some flood-the-zone coverage of Big Foot sightings?

If journalists were serious about alerting the public to events that are likely to result in violence, they should check out the West Indian Carnival parade in New York.

The Wikipedia entry on the parade has a special listing for “incidents,” which I have fact-checked and edited for brevity:

— In 2003, a man was fatally shot and another was stabbed in the neck.
— In 2005, one man was shot and killed along the parade route.
— In 2006, one man was shot and another was stabbed.
— At the 2007 parade, a man was shot twice in the leg.
— In 2011, there was one murder, three stabbings and numerous shootings, including of a policeman.
— In 2012, two people were fatally stabbed; two others were shot.
— In 2013, several shootings killed two and wounded three.
— In 2015, at a pre-parade celebration, there was one fatal stabbing and one fatal shooting, when an aide to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Carey Gabay, was shot in the head. He died eight days later.
— In 2016, during pre-parade celebrations, four people were shot, two fatally, and two more were stabbed.

Under the bloodcurdling headline, “Playing and Swaying to Caribbean Rhythms,” the Times mentioned a few other incidents. In 2004, a man was stabbed and a woman was run over by a float. In 1999, two young children were killed by floats, and one man was killed by a sound truck.
