Ecclesiastes 2:2; “What do I think of the fun-filled life? Insane! Inane! My verdict on the pursuit of happiness? Who needs it?
How many times have you heard something like this? “If you’ll do this or that then I will be happy”. In reality that is pure manipulation and psychological exploitation. The good old “Cinderella Syndrome”. “If this would happen; if this was the situation; if my spouse would only; if I only had; then I would be happy.”

The pursuit of happiness is an endless series of efforts to fulfill some void, only to realize that happiness is not at the end of the journey. Happiness in this usage is elusive and impossible to really fulfill the mental picture we created about what makes us happy.

As Christians we are taught that true happiness is the result of pursuing God and His righteousness. Living the life Jesus teaches puts everything in correct perspective and we begin to realize that happiness was always there in the satisfaction of bring the Christian Jesus wants us to be. Only the Spirit filled life can realize Jesus joy and peace. Things cannot produce anything but more debt.

Stop pursuing happiness and start pursuing Jesus.

Blinding Spirits

1 Kings 11:1; King Solomon was obsessed with women. Pharaoh’s daughter was only the first of the many foreign women he loved-Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite.”

If we read the Word of God too quickly, we miss many important lessons. Here is one of them. Solomon was obsessed with women. That obsession ended up his destruction, the dividing of the kingdom, evil kings from Israel, many defeats by enemy nations, multiple captivities into foreign nations, multiple losses of treasure and territory causing their inheritance to shrink instead of grow. Still think that your obsession is a victimless activity?

First if all his obsession caused him to break God’s law by marrying foreign women. That wasn’t enough. He lusted after every fair madden in the kingdom and kept his bed full of them. This sounds like a sex addict.

Where was the prophet during all this? There is no record of God warning him or any Levite or High Priest rebuking him. It appears no one cared about any of this.

The lesson here is about our own obsessions (blinding spirits). None if them can produce anything good. When we are caught up in these obsessions it makes it very difficult to hear the Holy Spirit. Obsessions are another form of “idol-worship” because the obsession has all our attention, energy, money and allegiance. Left to itself it will replace our relationship with Jesus and our obsession becomes our god.

Problem? When we are obsessed we can’t see it. We all must seek God to break through to our spirits and show us if we are obsessed anywhere with the determination of repentance and delivery from the blinding spirit of obsession. It’s not easy, but with the assistance of the power of the Holy Spirit, we can find the victory.

Humbleness a Constant Theme

Proverbs 25:7;  “It’s better to be promoted to a place of honor than face humiliation by being demoted.

Have you notice a series of common threads throughout the Bible? These are Kingdom principles that apply to both the Old and the New Covenant. One of those threads has to do with “humility”.

I was one of those believers who thought I knew what humility was, and could not have been more wrong. With my horrid definition I ended up destroying the multiple ministries God gave me, and was sent to the “back side of the desert” to learn humility. It’s been a 20 year plus journey, and now confess I’m still learning its definition. I’m on my way out of the desert.

What I’ve learned is that with humility you live a life of constant acknowledgement that God is the “All powerful One” and I’m not. He has all the answers, I only have the answers He’s given me, or directed me to.

God wanted the Church to understand that so he wrote through Paul to the Church in the Ephesian letter (chapter 6), “…be strong in the Lord and the power of His might”. His power NOT mine. His might NOT mine. Therein is success through God. As Jesus wrote to us through Peter in his first letter to the Church, “Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God and He will exalt you in due season”.

Our part of the covenant is to humble ourselves submitting to His Word of the covenant and in His timing He will release the grace to answer prayer.

Plenty of Blame to Go Around

Proverbs 19:3; People ruin their lives by their own stupidity, so why does God always get blamed?”

Jesus said in John 3 that men love darkness instead of the light because they know that in the light their sins will be exposed. Also true is the fact that men would rather stay in their darkness rather than admit they were wrong in all their philosophies of life and their subsequent choices. In order to repent means you HAVE to admit your wrong, and all you held true was wrong, and all the people you hung around with that had the same life choices was wrong. They choose death over life rather than repent.

Blaming God for all that goes wrong has been around since the Garden. In America we have built an entire sub-culture around being victims. Blame is their religion and pity their god. They, like those previously discussed, have chosen darkness over light. Choosing light means they can’t play the victim anymore because they will have to assume responsibility for their life choices and results.

It gets easier for me to understand our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, when He said that the way is broad that leads to destruction; the path that leads to Life is narrow and few find it. Finding a narrow path requires light.

An Interview I want To See

I have deliberately waited to write this article to see if the “Main-Stream Press” would actually report this correctly. So far, after two weeks, I only see FOX reporting on it. This story is so disturbing on so many levels and proves to be one of the many blunders the Obama Administration has born. The new blunder under the Mr. Holder, the Attorney General? Selling fully automatic weapons (plural – large numbers of weapons sold through gun shops near the U.S, / Mexican Border), to known cartel members to see if they could track them across the Mexican Border to the actual cartels.

As a result, multiple Mexican citizens have been murdered, as well as, two U.S. Border Patrol Agents with THOSE weapons. The operation failed miserably. Where are all the screamers we heard under Republican Presidents every time there was a serious shooting incident? Where are all the activist demonstrating for more restrictive gun laws? Why isn’t any one from the far left voicing their typical “gun-hating” rhetoric like they have in the past? Why all the silence?

How I wish the following interview would happen and shown on every television channel;

Interviewer:  “Mr. Holder, it is my understanding, based on years of statements and interviews that you have been a staunch supporter of gun control and restricting the sale and use of fully automatic weapons as well as semi-automatic weapons. Is that true?

Mr. Holder: “Yes that is true. I have always supported taking such weapons off the street and out of the hands of criminals.”

Interviewer:  “Is it also true that the entire President Obama Administration has the same convictions?”

Mr. Holder: “Yes, that is also true. Those weapons go way beyond what anyone would ever need to hunt with and they are responsible for many deaths. They do not belong in anyone’s hands except those of the military.”

Interviewer:  “Based on that answer, why did you, a man of convictions regarding removing semi-automatic and fully automatic weapons from the public, supported by an administration with the same convictions, deliberately sell multiple numbers of those weapons, from stores you want them restricted in, to KNOWN Mexican Cartel members?”

Mr. Holder: “Our intention was to track these weapons across the Mexican Border to Mexican cartels that would end up using them. We had the participation of the Mexican Government. The idea was to use this information to shut down the cartels.”

Interviewer:  “Don’t we already know who the cartels are, who runs them, and most of their members?

Mr. Holder: “Well, yes we do. However, we needed to know who was buying guns from American suppliers.”

Interviewer:  “Didn’t you already have that information? According to ATF reports, such suppliers have been identified and prosecuted. Certainly that doesn’t stop others from forming new methods of sale and transportation, and the ATF has had a good history of finding them and shutting them down. So, why deliberately sell multiple weapons, in multiple shipments to KNOWN cartel members knowing how they would be used?”

Mr. Holder: “Like I already said, the plan was use these sales to help shut down the cartels.”

Interviewer:  “Have you shut down any cartels with this operation?”

Mr. Holder: “No, not yet. The operation is ongoing.”

Interviewer:  “What do you have to say to the families and friends of the multiple Mexican citizens who have been murdered with your weapons, and especially the family and friends of the two Border Patrol Agents murdered with your weapons?”

Mr. Holder: “Of course our thoughts go out to those families and friends. I want the record to reflect that I resent your referring to these guns as MY WEAPONS.”

Interviewer:  “Did you deliberately sell someone else’s weapons, or did you sell weapons purchased for this specific operation?

Mr. Holder: “This interview is over.”

I don’t know about you, but I intend to ask every Republican Presidential candidate why they have not said anything about his, and if they will bring criminal charges against the organizers of this operation.

What are your thoughts about this?

Why Am I So Angry?

Lately I have been greatly annoyed at the fact that I find myself so very angry. That is not my personality, nor is it the way I want to be perceived. These attitudes have permeated my sleep giving me horrible dreams that is robbing me of rest. I find myself tense and short-tempered; I don’t like myself right now, and neither does anyone else. I’ve prayed about it, and I believe I have been given some answers.

I am a news junkie. I know many people who are. I also take my relationship with God very seriously, without being religious. I have found to be true that a Believer can live in this world successfully as long as they are not so heavenly minded they are of no earthly good. I have also found to be true that successful relationship living with the Triune God is based on living from the inside out. So, why am I so angry?

For those that don’t take the news seriously, what is happening in the world around us does not affect you. The contradictions, lies, deceit, political manipulations, propaganda news from the left designed to bred hate, form “mind-numbed robotic thinkers” and the looming dangers from the War or Terror don’t affect casual observers. That could be a source of what’s making me angry. However, living with your head in the sand means you are what the World wants; an easy prey.

So, why am I so angry? The more I analyze it, the clearer the answer becomes. Ready? Here it is; “TALK-TALK-TALK. ALL I HEAR IS JUST TALK.”  I have learned many lessons in life and one of the most important is that talking about something never solves the problem. Someone actually has to DO something. That means getting up off our well cushioned “apathy”, form a plan of action, make sure it’s moral, legal and not fattening, and then put that plan into action. Simple?  Maybe that why it hasn’t been done yet.

Back in the late 70’s, early 80’s, is when my wife and I became politically aware. We had actually voted for Jimmy Carter, and were personal recipients of his disastrous tax and spend policies. This time we took our time, did our own research, and got busy. Yes, we became Reagan Democrats (four years later we switched parties). We also became part of a Grass Roots group started in our church.

The first meeting had over 200 people in attendance. First action; Demonstrate against abortion. Great turn out in multiple locations. Successful.

The next meeting, 20 people showed up. Within one year the group consisted of one couple, and me. The well-meaning Christians that was eager to make a difference found out that making that difference takes work, and a lot of it. Since those times, that group of people labeled by the main stream press as, “The Sleeping Giant” (referring to “the Church” which was made up of Evangelical Christians), has gone back to sleep. Each election the “Sleeping Giant” has gone deeper into sleep, and fewer and fewer show up. Looking at what we have now and what is happening to our economy and rights demonstrates that being a sluggard is NOT the right answer.

It’s still not too late. We can still wake that “Giant” up again. We can still fight to save our country, rights and freedoms. In 2 Chronicles 7:14 … “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (NIV)

God said, “IF”. That means a deliberate act of the will to make the quality decision to act on what He tells us to do. “My People” distinguishes His followers from all other people on the planet. “Will humble themselves”; that’s where we lose most Christians. Humbling ourselves is the toughest thing to do. It mans we have to actually say, “I’M WRONG. I DID IT MY WAY AND FAILED. YOUR WAY IS THE ONLY WAY. I REPENT, AND CHOOSE TO GO YOUR WAY. Please forgive me in Jesus Name, Amen”

“Pray – Seeking God’s Face”. Not our religion, not our politicians, not anyone, or anything else but God alone. “Turn from your wicked ways”. That is the next toughest step, to actually say, “My living standards that lust for the world and multiple compromises, is WRONG. I repent. I choose to live by Your standards. Please forgive me in Jesus Name. Amen.”

The last part is what we want, without doing the first part. That can never  work. We have to stop thinking we can dictate to God. He, and only He, can change what is happening to our country, and world. God says, “Then (and only then – added by me) will I hear from Heaven, forgive your sins and heal your land.”

Doing. That’s the answer. Get up off our apathy, shake off the entanglements that keep us down, start making correct chooses and get to work, fighting to get our country back.

Hum. I’m not as angry anymore. It has been channeled into a positive direction. Sure feels better.

A Speech Every American High School Principal Should Give…. By Dennis Prager

To the students and faculty of our high school:

I am your new principal, and honored to be so. There is no greater calling than to teach young people.

I would like to apprise you of some important changes coming to our school. I am making these changes because I am convinced that most of the ideas that have dominated public education in America have worked against you, against your teachers and against our country.

First, this school will no longer honor race or ethnicity. I could not care less if your racial makeup is black, brown, red, yellow or white. I could not care less if your origins are African, Latin American, Asian or European, or if your ancestors arrived here on the Mayflower or on slave ships. The only identity I care about, the only one this school will recognize, is your individual identity — your character, your scholarship, your humanity. And the only national identity this school will care about is American.

This is an American public school, and American public schools were created to make better Americans. If you wish to affirm an ethnic, racial or religious identity through school, you will have to go elsewhere. We will end all ethnicity, race and non-American nationality-based celebrations. They undermine the motto of America, one of its three central values — e pluribus Unum, from many, one.” And this school will be guided by America’s values. This includes all after-school clubs. I will not authorize clubs that divide students based on any identities. This includes race, language, religion, sexual orientation or whatever else may become in vogue in a society divided by political correctness. Your clubs will be based on interests and passions, not blood, ethnic, racial or other physically defined ties. Those clubs just cultivate narcissism — an unhealthy preoccupation with the self — while the purpose of education is to get you to think beyond yourself. So we will have clubs that transport you to the wonders and glories of art, music, astronomy, languages you do not already speak, carpentry and more. If the only activities you can imagine being interested in are those based on ethnic, racial or sexual identity, that means that little outside of yourself really interests you.

Second, I am uninterested in whether English is your native language. My only interest in terms of language is that you leave this school speaking and writing English as fluently as possible. The English language has united America’s citizens for over 200 years, and it will unite us at this school. It is one of the indispensable reasons this country of immigrants has always come to be one country. And if you leave this school without excellent English language skills, I would be remiss in my duty to ensure that you will be prepared to successfully compete in the American job market. We will learn other languages here — it is deplorable that most Americans only speak English –but if you want classes taught in your native language rather than in English, this is not your school.

Third, because I regard learning as a sacred endeavor, everything in this school will reflect learning’s elevated status. This means, among other things, that you and your teachers will dress accordingly. Many people in our society dress more formally for Hollywood events than for church or school. These people have their priorities backward. Therefore, there will be a formal dress code at this school.

Fourth, no obscene language will be tolerated anywhere on this school’s property — whether in class, in the hallways or at athletic events. If you can’t speak without using the f-word, you can’t speak. By obscene language I mean the words banned by the Federal Communications Commission, plus epithets such as “Nigger,” even when used by one black student to address another black, or “bitch,” even when addressed by a girl to a girlfriend. It is my intent that by the time you leave this school, you will be among the few your age to instinctively distinguish between the elevated and the degraded, the holy and the obscene.

Fifth, we will end all self-esteem programs. In this school, self-esteem will be attained in only one way — the way people attained it until decided otherwise a generation ago — by earning it. One immediate consequence is that there will be one valedictorian, not eight.

Sixth, and last, I am reorienting the school toward academics and away from politics and propaganda. No more time will be devoted to scaring you about smoking and caffeine, or terrifying you about sexual harassment or global warming. No more semesters will be devoted to condom wearing and teaching you to regard sexual relations as only or primarily a health issue.

There will be no more attempts to convince you that you are a victim because you are not white, or not male, or not heterosexual or not Christian. We will have failed if any one of you graduates this school and does not consider him or herself inordinately lucky — to be alive and to be an American.
