United States bishops are considering formalizing their opposition to pro-abortion Catholic politicians receiving communion as they continue to speak out against President Joe Biden, a Catholic, over his support for abortion.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, scheduled to hold a national meeting in June, is considering approving a draft document that would advise Catholic politicians who support abortion not to receive communion. The consideration of the document comes as Biden continues to advocate for liberal abortion policies that directly conflict with the teachings of his faith, specifically, that all human life is sacred from natural conception until natural death.

According to Archbishop Joseph Naumann of the Archdiocese of Kansas City, who chairs the USCCB’s Committee on Pro-Life Activities, advocacy for abortion constitutes a “grave moral evil.” Naumann told The Associated Press that “Because President Biden is Catholic, it presents a unique problem for us.”

“It can create confusion … How can he say he’s a devout Catholic and he’s doing these things that are contrary to the church’s teaching?” Naumann asked. The Catholic Church’s Code of Canon Law teaches that those who are “obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to holy communion.”

According to the USCCB website, “The body of bishops meets typically twice a year for a General Assembly to transact its business and address matters of concern within its civil and canonical mandates.” This year’s USCCB Spring General Assembly will take place from June 16-18.

Naumann told the AP that at the General Assembly, the bishops will vote on whether to continue working on the document, so it can be presented to the public at a later date. The rules of the General Assembly require proposals to receive a “two-thirds majority vote of those bishops present and voting.”

Even if the USCCB approves the document, it “would still leave decisions on withholding Communion up to individual bishops.” Individual churches and dioceses have taken different approaches regarding communion for Catholic politicians who support abortion.

A priest in South Carolina refused to give Biden communion when the then-presidential candidate visited his church on the campaign trail, citing his support for abortion as the reason for withholding communion. However, Cardinal Wilton Gregory of the Archdiocese of Washington said that he would allow the then-president-elect to receive communion despite his advocacy on behalf of a practice that the Church steadfastly opposes.

While Catholic bishops as a whole have demonstrated opposition to allowing Biden to receive communion, a recent poll conducted by the Pew Research Center revealed two-thirds of American Catholics believe that Biden should be able to receive communion despite his position on abortion.

Biden, the second Roman Catholic to serve as president, has frequently found himself at odds with the Church and the broader Catholic community due to his positions on social issues extending beyond abortion. This divide has manifested itself in exchanges between EWTN’s White House Correspondent Owen Jensen and White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki at the White House press briefings.

Most recently, on Tuesday, Jensen asked Psaki to react to criticism of Biden from the USCCB over his administration’s decision to lift “the ban on researchers using fetal tissue from elective abortions.”

Psaki rejected the USCCB’s contention that it’s “deeply offensive to millions of Americans for our taxpayer dollars to be used for research that collaborates with an industry built on the taking of innocent lives.”

“I think the White House … respectfully disagrees and we believe that it’s important to invest in science and … look for opportunities to cure diseases,” she responded. In addition to his support for abortion, Biden has come under fire for his support for the Equality Act, a wide-reaching legislative initiative that critics warn has negative implications for religious liberty. Jensen has repeatedly pressed Psaki about Biden’s position on such concerns.

At a White House press briefing earlier this month, Jensen asked Psaki if Biden had a message for “Catholic doctors, [and] Catholic institutions who are fearful that if the Equality Act passes, it has the potential to trample on their conscience rights.” In her response, Psaki maintained that the president has a “difference of opinion” with those who have those concerns while reiterating that “he has been a supporter of the Equality Act, and he also is a practicing Catholic and attends church nearly every week.”

In March, Jensen told Psaki that pro-life groups were “very concerned about the phrase ‘pregnancy discrimination’ in the Equality Act — that it would force doctors to perform abortions even if it violates their conscience.” Also mentioning concerns that the legislation would “force doctors to perform gender transition surgeries and sterilizations, again, even if it violates their conscience,” Jensen inquired as to whether the president wanted to address the aforementioned concerns.

Psaki did not directly answer the question, instead describing Biden as “a long supporter of Roe v. Wade” and highlighting his “consistent belief that [Roe] should be law.” She also declined to respond when Jensen asked if the president wanted to weigh in on “conscience concerns.”

UH OH: Evidence Shows the Intel on Israel that John Kerry Shared with Iran Was Not in the Public Domain as Claimed by Biden’s State Department

John Kerry must resign.  And while he’s at it, Biden and his entire Administration should too.

A few days ago it was reported that John Kerry told Iran about some Israeli secrets related to Syria:

Then John Kerry claimed that he didn’t give Israeli information to Iran, the event never happened:

Then the State Department attempted to cover for Kerry so they said that Kerry may have talked about Israel with Iran’s Zarif but not about anything that was not in the public domain.  But, Twitchy notes that this is not the case:

Remember when people (aka the State Dept) defending John Kerry said he didn’t tell Iran anything about Israel they didn’t already know? It was in the public domain? That anyone pretending that Kerry (aka Sing Like a Canary) was spilling secrets had an agenda because orange man bad and stuff?

Yeah, that appears to be bullsh*t. At least according to this problematic leaked audio.

Looks like Kerry gave Iran intel on our friend Israel and it was not in the public realm.  With friends like Kerry, who needs enemies?

The Protect Democracy Project – One of Three Groups Who Requested the DOJ Stop the Arizona Audit – Is Connected to Soros and Funds the Mothership of Democrat ‘Non-Profits’

Reported By Joe Hoft | Published April 30, 2021

We know that at least one of the three entities who are begging the DOJ to stop the Arizona forensic audit going on now, the Protect Democracy Project, is connected to Soros, but we uncovered that it is also connected to the mothership of Democrat Not-for-Profits (NFP’s)

Yesterday (on Thursday), three Lawfare groups petitioned the DOJ to stop the audit in Maricopa County Arizona: Then a couple of days ago we recognized their efforts again, this time in Arizona, which again are anything but non-biased:

The Democrats’ use of NFP networks has been so expertly inter-tangled by top-level Democratic operatives for years, that no one can trace its inner workings and connections, which are obfuscated on purpose. Democrats further obscure any connections between players, simply by creating a brand new NFP, with a brand new board and, presto, the new corporate shield protects the money and socialist players, as well as their tools, the expert “community organizers” and their many social justice warriors.

The Democrats and communists have spent decades building and perfecting this gigantic, convoluted, and criminal network. Today it is fully operational.

This gigantic, across-state-lines, interconnected, nonprofit corporate conglomerate(s) (plural) has been expertly set up, so as to evade detection, frustrate the hell out of researchers, likely hide billions in laundered, partisan, Democrat-progressive money – which is implementing socialism inexorably throughout the fabric of American culture and society, and this dirty work is all being executed by innocent-sounding, tax-exempt, ‘alleged nonpartisan’ charities.

The kingpin operation in 2019, 2020, and 2021 has been the Democrats stealing – and keeping – the election for President of the United States. One entity is the motherlode election NFP and was making sure Trump’s 2nd term never, ever manifests. It is actually a project of a nonprofit, which makes its mission, operations, and funding even less transparent. It’s called the National Task Force on Election Crises. Nobody has ever even heard of it.

Which nonprofit sponsors it? The Protect Democracy Project.  The same NFP that is asking the DOJ to stop the Maricopa County audit.

Since it’s a project of a nonprofit they can and have really hidden what they do. A stealth operation in the dark, under the wings of an NFP. It’s a secretive, task force of about 50 individuals, and you won’t believe who some of the players are. It seemed to kick into high gear after November 3 and its purpose seems to be to stop any efforts to place Donald Trump in his rightful seat as the president.

The chair of this cast of evil characters is none other than…James Baker.  Yes, that James Baker, former General Counsel to disgraced FBI Director James Comey. Baker was in the middle of the Russia collusion conspiracy and helped promote the garbage story to the media:

We wonder what else we can find out about this group of NFP’s who claim they are non-biased.

VIDEO: Woke professor becomes combative when student says police officers are ‘heroes’

Reported by NEWSPAUL SACCA | April 30, 2021

A professor at a Southern California college was caught on video becoming confrontational with one of her students after he called police officers “heroes,” a sentiment that the teacher strongly disagreed with.

Cypress College student Braden Ellis delivered a presentation on how cancel culture is “destructive and tearing our country apart” during a communications class that was being held remotely. Ellis cited the example of “PAW Patrol,” a cartoon about search and rescue dogs aimed at children ages 2-4. Last June, the outrage mob attempted to cancel the cartoon because one of the dogs on the kids show depicted police in a positive manner.

Ellis told the Daily Wire that after his presentation, there was a 10-minute question-and-answer session, which is when the woke professor attacked the student’s opinion that a “good majority” of police officers are heroes.

The professor is seen on the Zoom conference call telling the student that the issue with police is “systemic,” and she claimed the reason the United States has police departments “stems from people in the south wanting to capture runaway slaves.”

The first police department in the United States was established in New York City in 1844, according to Britannica. “Other cities soon followed suit: New Orleans and Cincinnati (Ohio) in 1852; Boston and Philadelphia in 1854; Chicago and Milwaukee (Wis.) in 1855; and Baltimore (Md.) and Newark (N.J.) in 1857.”

In 1799, New York state enacted the “Gradual Emancipation act that freed slave children born after July 4, 1799, but indentured them until they were young adults,” according to the New-York Historical Society. “In 1817 a new law passed that would free slaves born before 1799 but not until 1827.” President Abraham Lincoln issued a preliminary Emancipation Proclamation on Sept. 22, 1862.

Another classmate chimed in during the video conference call by saying that maybe the police shouldn’t be labeled as heroes and “maybe they don’t belong on a kids show.”

I disagree … I think cops are heroes and they have to have a difficult job,” Ellis responded, but then was quickly and flagrantly interrupted by the professor who acerbically asked, “All of them?”

“I’d say a good majority of them. You have bad people in every business,” Ellis replied before being cut off again by the professor.

“A lot of police officers have committed atrocious crimes and have gotten away with it and have never been convicted of any of it,” the professor said in an attempt to alter the direction of the conversation. “And I say [that] as a person that has family members who are police officers.”

Ellis conceded, “This is not popular to say, but I do support our police. And we have bad people, and the people that do bad things should be brought to justice, I agree with that.”

The professor interrupted the student mid-sentence yet again to say that police haven’t been brought to justice.

The student asks, “Who do we call when we’re in trouble and someone has a knife or a gun?”

And the progressive professor boldly riposted, “I wouldn’t call the police.”

When Ellis questioned her position, she snapped back, “I don’t trust them. My life’s in more danger in their presence.” When Ellis asked the instructor if she would have a firearm to defend herself, she replied, “No.” The professor then abruptly ended the discussion.

“I was shocked to hear her comments about police, but I stood firm in my beliefs,” Ellis told the Daily Wire. “We need to fight back against this liberal ideology spreading in our colleges and save America.”

John Kerry Invested In Oil And Gas Stocks Before Joining White House, Filings Show

Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry owned shares of multiple oil and gas corporations prior to joining the White House, ethics filings show. John Kerry previously invested in Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation, Duke Energy, Cimarex, Dominion Energy, Xcel Energy, Exelon Corporation, Valero Energy Corporation and WEC Energy Group, according to Office of Government Ethics filings obtained by Axios. Kerry reportedly sold off his entire stock portfolio, which was worth between $4.2 and $15 million, prior to joining President Joe Biden’s administration.

The Texas-based Valero Energy Corporation was recently ranked the fifth-worst emitter of greenhouse gasses despite having just 14 facilities, the San Antonio Current reported in December. The company was ordered to pay $2.85 million in a civil penalty in October for Clean Air Act violations, according to the Environmental Protection Agency

Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation, a billion-dollar fracking and natural gas company, has been cited for environmental damages. In 2014, a Pennsylvania court granted the company’s request to place a restraining order against an anti-fracking activist, The Guardian reported.

Kerry has railed against fossil fuel companies since Biden appointed him to spearhead the federal government’s climate change response. He has even warned oil and gas companies not to be on “the wrong side of this battle,” urging them to divest from current projects and invest in clean energy, CNN reported.

“They ought to be figuring out how do we become not an oil-and-gas company, but how do we become an energy company,” Kerry said during his remarks at an energy conference in March, according to CNN.

The filings also showed Kerry, who served as secretary of state under former President Barack Obama, was paid $5 million by Bank of America to lead its global advisory council and $382,400 by Deutsche Bank, Waste Management and Cornell University in speaking fees. The Rise Fund, a firm that invests in renewable energy stocks, paid Kerry $125,000 in consulting fees.

“The State Department’s Ethics Office reviewed Special Presidential Envoy Kerry’s assets and investments upon his appointment to identify holdings that could pose a significant risk of a conflict of interest,” a State Department spokesperson said in a statement, according to Axios. “Special Presidential Envoy Kerry agreed to divest the assets identified by the Ethics Office and has done so.”

Biden talks Equality Act, American Families Plan, white supremacist threat in Congress speech

In his first speech before a joint session of U.S. Congress Wednesday night, President Joe Biden urged the legislative branch to support his progressive agenda, unveiled his American Families Plan and warned of the threat posed by white supremacy.

Biden addressed the 117th Congress in the U.S. House of Representatives chamber one day before his 100th day in office. While Biden spent his speech attempting to portray his proposals as popular among Americans of all political persuasions, the president also made overtures to the progressive base of the Democratic Party.

https://www.youtube.com/embed/eJHwn9zu8X4

He specifically expressed a desire to see federal lawmakers send the Equality Act to his desk, which he described as a bill “to protect LGBT Americans.” Biden delivered a specific message to the transgender community, one of the intended beneficiaries of the legislation that would codify discrimination protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity into federal law.

“All transgender Americans watching at home, especially young people, who are so brave, I want you to know your president has your back,” the 78-year-old declared.

The Equality Act has already passed the House but has stalled in the Senate. Championed by Democrats, the Equality Act has come under frequent criticism by conservatives, who have expressed concerns about its implications for religious liberty and women’s sports.

Throughout his speech, Biden discussed a wide variety of topics, including the coronavirus stimulus package, the progress in distributing the coronavirus vaccine, efforts to fight climate change and foreign policy. The president promoted the American Jobs Plan, his infrastructure plan, in addition to unveiling his American Families Plan.

American Families Plan

The plan seeks to expand access to education, reduce the cost of child care and support women in the workforce while providing upwards of $1.8 trillion “in investments and tax credits for American families and children over ten years,” according to the White House. The plan will be financed by raising taxes on high earners.

Discussing the need to compete with other countries, specifically China, Biden stressed that the United States needs to “make a once-in-a-generation investment in our families and our children.” According to Biden, the American Families Plan addresses “four of the biggest challenges facing American families and in turn America.”

Biden identified the lack of “access to a good education” as one of the biggest challenges facing American families. Arguing that 12 years of free public education was no longer sufficient as the U.S. seeks to compete on the world stage, he explained that the American Families Plan “guarantees four additional years of public education for every person in America.”

“The great universities in this country have conducted studies over the last 10 years that shows that adding two years of universal, high-quality preschool for every 3-year-old and 4-year-old no matter what background they come from puts them in a position to be able to compete all the way through 12 years,” he said. “It increases exponentially their prospect of graduating and going on beyond graduation.”

“The research shows when a young child goes to school — not daycare — they’re far more likely to graduate from high school and go to college or something after high school,” he added. “When you add two years of free community college on top of that, you begin to change the dynamic.”

Additionally, Biden explained, the American Families Plan will “increase Pell Grants and invest in historically black college[s] and universities, tribal colleges [and] minority-serving institutions.”

“The American Families Plan will provide access to quality affordable child care,” he announced. It would “guarantee that low and middle-income families will pay no more than 7% of their income for high-quality care for children up to the age of five” while “the most hard-pressed working families won’t have to spend a dime.”

He said the plan would provide up to 12 weeks of paid leave and family and medical leave. He lamented that the U.S. is “one of the few industrial countries in the world” without such a policy.

“No one should have to choose between a job and a paycheck for taking care of themselves and their loved ones or parent or spouse or child,” the president said.

The former senator from Delaware maintained that extending a $3,000 child care tax credit for children over the age of 6 and a $3,600 child care tax credit for children younger than 6 years old through 2025 “will help more than 65 million children and help cut child care poverty in half.”

The president vowed that to pay for his proposals, he would “not impose any tax increase on people making less than $400,000.” Instead, the cost would fall on “corporate America and the wealthiest 1% of Americans,” whom he argued needed to “pay their fair share.” He proposed increasing the top income tax rate to 39.6% and getting rid of “the loopholes that allow Americans to make more than $1 million a year and pay a lower tax rate on their capital gains than Americans who receive a paycheck.”

As he addressed foreign policy, Biden warned that “terrorism has metastasized” to the point where “the threat has evolved way beyond Afghanistan.” He vowed that “it’s time to bring our troops home.”

Racism and policing

While stating that Al Qaeda and ISIS are still in the Middle East and Africa, he cited the intelligence agencies’ analysis when characterizing “white supremacy” as “the most lethal terrorist threat to the homeland today.”

“We have to come together to heal the soul of this nation,” Biden stressed as he pivoted to discussing the death of George Floyd and race in America. “We’ve all seen the knee of injustice on the neck of black Americans. Now’s our opportunity to make some real progress.”

“The vast majority of men and women wearing a uniform and a badge serve our communities, and they serve them honorably,” he continued. “We have to come together to rebuild trust between law enforcement and the people they serve to root out systemic racism in our criminal justice system and to enact police reform in George Floyd’s name that passed the House already.”

While he praised Republicans for having “very productive discussions with Democrats in the Senate,” Biden reiterated the need to “work together to find a consensus,” urging Congress to pass criminal justice reform by May 25, the first anniversary of Floyd’s death.

Immigration

Describing immigration as “essential to America,” the president asked Congress to support a “comprehensive immigration bill” that includes a pathway to citizenship for “11 million undocumented folks” as well as “high tech border security.”

He specifically highlighted “protection for Dreamers,” illegal immigrants brought to the country as children. He called for “permanent protection for immigrants who are here on temporary protective status” and a “pathway to citizenship for farmworkers who put food on our tables” as the most important immigration-related priorities that Congress must address.

H.R. 1

In addition, Biden asked Congress to pass H.R. 1, also known as the For the People Act.

Democrats, including Biden, have portrayed the bill as necessary to “expand Americans’ access to the ballot box.” But conservatives allege that H.R. 1, which they characterize as a “federal takeover of the administration of elections,” will “make it easier to cheat and make it easier to manipulate election results” because it loosens voter ID requirements and signature verification requirements for mail-in ballots.

As his speech concluded, Biden declared, “I have never been more confident or optimistic about America” because “we’ve stared into the abyss of insurrection and autocracy, pandemic and pain and we the people did not flinch.”

While it is not customary for newly elected presidents to give State of the Union addresses, they have given speeches to joint sessions Congress soon after assuming office. The audience in the Hosue chamber did not include most of the 535 members of Congress as is customary for State of the Union addresses or similar addresses given by presidents shortly after taking office. To maintain social distancing as the U.S. continues to grapple with the coronavirus pandemic, only a handful of members of Congress were physically present in the chamber.

Tim Scott says ‘America is not a racist country.’ Liberals immediately try to prove him wrong by calling him racist epithets.

After Republican Sen. Tim Scott (S.C.) delivered an impassioned rebuttal to President Joe Biden’s address to a joint session of Congress on Wednesday, declaring that despite the president’s claims, “America is not a racist country,” liberals on Twitter immediately tried to discredit his claims by launching racial epithets at him.

In the speech, Scott acknowledged that while America’s racial “healing” remains an unfinished task, no amount of divisive rhetoric from Democratic politicians and progressive media figures could diminish the progress the country has made toward racial equality. Such progress is powerfully embodied in his own family’s history, Scott suggested, pointing out that his family has gone from “cotton to Congress” in the span of one lifetime — a fact which, egregiously, was called into question by liberal Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler last week.

The South Carolina lawmaker went on to note that, in many cases, Democrats are the ones who exhibit racism in their politics and policy. He recalled that last year, after the deaths of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, he built a police reform bill to address concerns over unchecked instances of police brutality in America. But Democrats blocked the bill from ever being debated in Congress by using a political tactic they now insist is racist — the filibuster.

“My friends across the aisle seemed to want the issue more than they wanted a solution,” he charged.

He later referred to Georgia’s new voting law, which actually expands early voting opportunity in the state, but which Democrats — including the president — have falsely branded as the new “Jim Crow.” Republicans have an interest in making it “easier to vote and harder to cheat,” Scott said, but Democrats, on the other hand, are only interested in “virtue-signaling.”

“Race is not a political weapon to settle every issue the way one side wants. It’s far too important,” Scott said to close out discussion on the topic.

Stopping at nothing to discredit his assessment that “America is not a racist country,” liberals immediately launched a racist offensive against Scott on social media, using racial epithets.

Following Scott’s speech, mentions of “Uncle Tim” surfaced so many times on Twitter that it became a trend.

Following passage of Georgia’s new voting law, multiple CEOs of major American companies tripped over themselves to condemn the law when America’s far-left woke brigade came showed up with torches and pitchforks and threatened to blacklist them if they didn’t do more to condemn the law.

CBS News even got in on the act with a “news” story headlined “3 ways companies can help fight Georgia’s restrictive new voting law.”

And their efforts worked. For example:

  • Delta CEO Ed Bastian quickly toed the line when informed by the left that his initial statement on the bill wasn’t acerbic enough and issued a condemnation falsely stating that the law “could make it harder for many Georgians, particularly those in our Black and Brown communities, to exercise their right to vote.”
  • Major League Baseball pulled the All-Star Game out of Atlanta following pressure from corporate sponsors and the government — including President Joe Biden — and announced the game would take place in Colorado, which has voter ID laws similar to the new Georgia law.
  • Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey caved to the mob and joined the chorus of lies about the Georgia law, saying it “would diminish or deter access to voting.”

More than 60 other executives from other businesses have come out to publicly blast the law, the Hill reported. Those companies include American Express, HP, Nordstrom, MasterCard, Starbucks, Verizon, Uber, Pfizer, Google, GE, Merck, Bank of America, and Boeing. Nearly 200 companies have signed a statement denouncing other Georgia-style voting laws “threatening to make voting more difficult” that are being debated across the country, the Washington Post said.

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz said this week that it’s time the GOP stand up to woke CEOs. Cruz took to the op-ed pages of the Wall Street Journal on Thursday to inform those CEOs that Republicans are done with them and wished them luck when taxes and regulations start to bury them and they have to knock on Democrats’ doors for help.

The senator began his piece, “Your Woke Money Is No Good Here,” blasting the businessmen for clearly not reading the Georgia law and instead relying on crib notes from left-wing activists:

Had these watch-me-woke-it-up CEOs actually read the bill—instead of parroting the radical left’s talking points—they’d have discovered they had no idea what they were talking about. A clutch of business leaders tried to win woke Twitter points and clowned themselves instead.

Cruz then said it’s time for Republicans to stop ignoring these outrages from CEOs simply because they are “job creators” and to instead strike back. It’s past time to put these “fair-weather friends” in their place:

This time, we won’t look the other way on Coca-Cola’s $12 billion in back taxes owed. This time, when Major League Baseball lobbies to preserve its multibillion-dollar antitrust exception, we’ll say no thank you. This time, when Boeing asks for billions in corporate welfare, we’ll simply let the Export-Import Bank expire.

For too long, woke CEOs have been fair-weather friends to the Republican Party: They like us until the left’s digital pitchforks come out. Then they run away. Or they mouth off on legislation they don’t understand—and hurt the reputations of patriotic leaders protecting our elections and expanding the right to vote. Enough is enough. Corporations that flagrantly misrepresent efforts to protect our elections need to be called out, singled out and cut off.

The lawmaker, who admitted that he had received $2.6 million in corporate PAC contributions, said that from now on he’s taking no more of their money. Liberal CEOs and companies have spent years, along with their left-wing pals, attacking GOP values without paying a price.

That time is over, Cruz declared.

“As America’s greatest basketball player observed years ago, Republicans buy sneakers, too. We cast votes, too,” Cruz warned. “And we pay attention when CEOs come after our own just so they can look good for a few editorial pages and radical activists.”

“To them I say: When the time comes that you need help with a tax break or a regulatory change, I hope the Democrats take your calls, because we may not. Starting today, we won’t take your money either,” he concluded

Judge sides with trans-identified boys as female athletes’ high-profile case is dismissed

Reported By Ryan Foley, Christian Post Reporter| Monday, April 26, 2021

Selina Soule | Alliance Defending Freedom

A federal judge has tossed out a high-profile lawsuit filed on behalf of four female athletes suing to stop a Connecticut high school athletics association policy allowing biological males who identify as females to compete in girls’ sports at the K-12 level. Lawyers representing the athletes plan to appeal the ruling.

Judge Robert Chatigny, a federal judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, issued a ruling Sunday determining that the lawsuit filed against the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference and the Connecticut Association of Schools was “not justiciable at this time.”

He contends that “courts across the country have consistently held that Title IX requires schools to treat transgender students consistent with their gender identity.”

Appointed to the bench by former President Bill Clinton, Chatigny faced criticism last year from Alliance Defending Freedom, the legal nonprofit representing the plaintiffs, for telling ADF attorneys to refer to biological male athletes as “transgender females.” His insistence that the attorneys avoid referring to the athletes as “males” led to demands that he be removed from the case due to a lack of impartiality. But those calls went unanswered. The plaintiffs, who were all high school students when the lawsuit was filed, contend that allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports violates Title IX, which was designed to provide equal opportunities for females in education.

ADF announced the intention to appeal the ruling Sunday, stating that its lawyers “will continue to challenge the policy before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit.”

“Our clients — like all female athletes — deserve access to fair competition; that means authentically equal opportunities to compete, achieve, and win. But competition is no longer fair when males are permitted to compete in girls’ sports,” said ADF Legal Counsel Christina Holcomb.

“Males will always have inherent physical advantages over comparably talented and trained girls; that’s the reason we have girls’ sports in the first place. Unfortunately, this court has chosen to ignore our clients’ demoralizing experience of losing to male runners.”

Holcomb argued that while the case centers on female athletes in Connecticut, there is more at stake.

“Girls and women deserve opportunities that are truly equal — without being sidelined or dominated by males choosing to join their sport,” she added.

According to the ADF, Selina Soule, Chelsea Mitchell, Alanna Smith and Ashley Nicoletti have been “deprived” of “honors and opportunities to compete at elite levels.” Mitchell would have won the 2019 state championship in the women’s 55-meter indoor track competition, ADF reports. However, two biological male competitors took first and second place. Meanwhile, Soule, Smith and Nicoletti “have been denied medals and/or advancement opportunities.”

The ruling states:

“Chelsea Mitchell would have finished first in four elite events in 2019, and qualified for the 2017 New England Regional Championship in the Women’s 100m; (2) Selina Soule would have advanced to the next level of competition in the 2019 CIAC State Open Championship in the Women’s Indoor 55m; (3) Ashley Nicoletti would have qualified to run in the 2019 CIAC Class S Women’s Outdoor 100m; and (4) Alanna Smith would have finished second in the Women’s 200m at the 2019 State Outdoor Open.”

ADF states that due to CIAC’s policy, two males were permitted to compete in girls’ athletic competitions starting in the 2017 track season, who have taken 15 women’s state championship titles previously held by nine different girls between 2017-2019. The law group contends that the two athletes have taken away 85 opportunities to participate in higher-level competitions from female track athletes from 2017 to 2019.

“Today’s decision ignores the unfairness of the CIAC’s policy, which allows biological males who identify as female to compete in the girls’ category,” said Soule, one of the four athletes who challenged Connecticut’s policy. “During all four years of high school, I worked incredibly hard to shave fractions of a second off my time, only to lose to athletes who had an unfair physical advantage.”

“I don’t want any other girl to experience the pain and heartbreak I had to go through, and I will continue to stand up for fairness in women’s sports for as long as it takes,” she vowed.

Smith, another plaintiff, described the decision as “disheartening for athletes like me who train hard every day to be our physical and mental best at the starting block.”

According to Smith, “biological unfairness does not go away because of what someone believes about gender identity.”

“Biology — not identity — is what matters on the field, and that’s why I will continue to stand up to restore fairness to my sport,” she said.

Mitchell called the ruling “discouraging,” claiming the judge “ruled to dismiss my right to compete on a level playing field.”

“Today’s ruling ignores the physical advantages that male athletes have over female athletes,” she argues. “Female athletes like me should have the opportunity to excel and compete fairly. No girl should have to settle into her starting blocks knowing that, no matter how hard she works, she doesn’t have a fair shot at victory.”

Nicoletti warned that girls like her “have suffered countless losses because of the CIAC’s policy.”

“[A]nd today’s ruling ignores this fact,” she stated. “I will continue to tell my story and fight for fairness in women’s sports.”

While female athletes decried Sunday’s decision, LGBT activists reacted very favorably to Chatigny’s ruling.

“This is good news for transgender students in Connecticut and around the country,” declared ACLU Staff Attorney Joshua Block in a statement. “Today’s ruling shows that allowing transgender students to participate in school — including sports — is consistent with existing federal law. This is yet another sign that lawmakers attacking trans youth in states around the country have no legal basis for their claims.”

Additionally, Rahsaan Yearwood, the father of one of the two biological male athletes who now identify as females who are also named defendants in the lawsuit, cheered the decision.

“One of our most marginalized communities has the opportunity to rejoice in their authentic being and feel affirmed in doing so,” Yearwood was quoted as saying.

As the debate about women’s sports continues across the U.S., several states have passed laws restricting participation in women’s sports to biological females. This year alone, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee have already passed such laws. State lawmakers in more than two dozen other states have introduced similar legislation.

Meanwhile, Democrats in Congress want to pass the Equality Act, which would codify nondiscrimination protections for the LGBT community into federal law. Critics of the sweeping legislative initiative argue that the protection from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity will require biological males who identify as females to compete on sports teams that correspond with their gender identity as opposed to their biological sex.

Even though the Equality Act has failed to become law because of opposition from both Republicans and Democrats in the U.S. Senate, President Joe Biden has already signed an executive order prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

“Children should be able to learn without worrying about whether they will be denied access to the restroom, the locker room, or school sports,” the order stated.

Top Muslim political leader arrested for allegedly aiding 2019 Sri Lanka Easter bombings

A prominent Muslim political leader in Sri Lanka and his brother were arrested over the weekend due to their suspected connection to the 2019 Easter Sunday suicide bombings of three churches and three hotels in Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa that killed over 269 people.

Rishad Bathiudeen, a former cabinet minister and the leader of an opposition party in Parliament, and his brother, Reyaj Bathiudeen, were arrested in pre-dawn raids due to circumstantial and “scientific” evidence connecting them to the attacks, according to a police spokesperson. Police spokesperson Ajith Rohana said the brothers allegedly aided and abetted those “who committed the Easter Sunday carnage,” The Associated Press reports.

On April 23, Bathiudeen’s post on Facebook called the arrest unjust, saying his brother had already been arrested.

“The CID has been standing outside my house in Boudhaloka Mawatha since [1:30 a.m.] today attempting to arrest me without a charge,” the leader of the All Ceylon Makkal Congress Party wrote. “… I have been in Parliament, and have cooperated with all lawful authorities until now. This is unjust.”

Bathiudeen’s lawyer, Rushdhie Habeeb, called the arrests politically motivated and said there was no reason given.

Habeeb argued that the purpose of the arrest was to “punish the political leadership of the Muslims, which had nothing to do with 21/4, for the dastardly acts of some Muslim youths who were widely alleged as having been used as pawns by foreign powers,” he said in a statement.

No one has been charged with the suicide bombings, though nearly 200 people were arrested in the days following the bombings by Islamic extremists, according to Agence France Presse.  The arrests came three days after Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, the head of Sri Lanka’s Roman Catholic Church, accused the government of allowing investigations of the attack to be stalled.

During a commemoration of the second anniversary of the attacks on April 21, Ranjith joined with Catholic, Buddhist, Hindu and Muslim leaders at St. Anthony’s Shrine in Colombo, the location of the first bomb explosion during the Easter service, AP reported. The cardinal claimed players in global geopolitics use religious extremism as a way to achieve their goals. The Catholic Church suspects a larger foreign involvement is to blame.

Sri Lankan Muslims have disowned the attackers and refused to allow the bodies of the suicide bombers to be buried in their cemeteries.

President Gotobaya Rajapaksa’s government came to power in 2019 and faces pressure to find the mastermind responsible for the attack.

“We are surprised that even after two years, answers to the questions of who and why and what of these attacks have not been found by the relevant authorities,” Ranjith was quoted as saying. “We often see that there are political reasons behind some of the investigations stalling.”

“Even though we wish to forgive all these things, we would like to know what really happened,” he continued.

Nearly 300 lives were lost and over 500 were injured in the 2019 Easter morning suicide bombings. Of those killed, 39 were tourists, including five American nationals and a fifth-grade student from a Washington, D.C., private school.

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the multiple, simultaneous bombings, one of the largest coordinated terrorist attacks since Sep. 11, 2001. Days after the attack, the government announced Islamic terror cell Nations Thawahid Jaman was involved in the attacks and suggested the attackers likely had assistance from international terror organizations, such as al-Qaeda or the Islamic State, due to the sophistication of the attacks. Not long after the attack, Sri Lanka’s minister of defense said the attacks “were carried out in retaliation” for the shootings at two New Zealand mosques that killed 50 people a month before.

In January, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that three Sri Lankan citizens were charged with conspiring to provide material support to a group called “ISIS in Sri Lanka” that is believed to be responsible for the 2019 Easter attacks. The department announced that a total of five U.S. nationals were killed, including a Department of Commerce employee who traveled to Sri Lanka on official business.

“According to these charges, the defendants were committed supporters of ISIS, recruited others to ISIS’s violent cause, purchased materials for and made IEDs, helped to prepare and trained others who participated in the attacks, and murdered in the name of this deadly foreign terrorist organization,”statement from the department reads. “They are in custody in Sri Lanka.”

The Sri Lankan government was reportedly warned of possible attacks against Christians in early April, weeks before the bombings occurred through information received from foreign intelligence. This has caused many to question why the attacks were not prevented if the government was warned weeks in advance. Violent attacks were common in Buddhist-majority Sri Lanka during its Civil War, which lasted from 1983 to 2009. In recent years, there has been increased tension between Muslim groups and the majority Sinhalese, the largest ethnic group in Sri Lanka.

Buddhists make up about 70% of the Sri Lankan population.

A former official in the Obama administration was charged Tuesday with stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from a charter school he founded, and using the funds to help finance a luxury apartment in Manhattan. Seth Andrew, who served in the Obama White House and Department of Education, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with wire fraud, money laundering, and making false statements to a financial institution in connection with a series of banking transactions he conducted in 2019.

Federal prosecutors allege that Andrew ripped off his own charter school organization, Democracy Prep Public Schools, to the tune of $218,005. Andrew founded the New York City-based charter school in 2005. He joined the Department of Education in 2013 and later worked in the Obama White House’s office of educational technology. Andrew was paid by the charter school network while working in the Obama administration, according to prosecutors. He cut ties with the organization in January 2017.

Prosecutors allege that Andrew withdrew hundreds of thousands of dollars from Democracy Prep’s bank accounts even though he was no longer affiliated with the school network.

Andrew allegedly deposited the funds in his own bank accounts in order to obtain an interest rate discount on a $1,776,000 mortgage he and his wife secured on a Manhattan apartment.

News reports have identified Andrew’s wife as Lana Zak, a CBS News anchor.

“As alleged, Seth Andrew abused his position as a founder of a charter school network to steal from the very same schools he helped create,” Audrey Strauss, the U.S. attorney in Manhattan, said in a statement.

“Andrew is not only alleged to have stolen the schools’ money but also to have used the stolen funds to obtain a savings on a mortgage for a multimillion-dollar Manhattan apartment.”

According to Andrew’s LinkedIn account, he served as senior advisor to the White House’s chief technology officer. He “built and supported” several Obama initiatives, including the website Vote.gov, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Andrew did not respond to a request for comment through his LinkedIn page.

Far-Left Media Hack Admits to Sneaking Inside Arizona Audit Room at Veterans Memorial Center without Proper Credentials Before Ballots Arrive in Attempt to Discredit Process

Far-left CBS media hack Morgan Loew from AZFamily.com published a hit piece on Friday against the upcoming forensic audit of ballots at the Veterans Memorial Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Democrats and their supporting operatives in the media continue to work overtime to shut down this process. What are they so afraid of?

Loew admitted in his piece that he sneaked into Veterans Memorial Center without proper credentials before the start of the forensic audit. This was his contribution to Democrats in their ongoing attempts to discredit the entire process.

Soros-funded Secretary of State Katie Hobbs then used Loew’s report in her latest attempt to shut down the audit of Maricopa County ballots.

They sure are scared!

Black-owned businesses near ‘George Floyd Square’ plead for help amid rising crime, police ban

Black-owned businesses near George Floyd Square are struggling to survive amid rising crime inside the autonomous zone that has been the scene of two fatal shootings. Violent crime has been on the rise in Minneapolis, Minnesota, since 2020. In the area surrounding the intersection of 38th Street and Chicago Avenue, near where Floyd died last May, there were 19 fatal and non-fatal shootings last year, 14 of which were from May 1–Aug. 31, 2020. Business owners in that neighborhood, who describe themselves as the 38th Street Black Business Collective, said in a lengthy post on their GoFundMe page that they feel like a “sacrificial lamb” because their families — black families — are losing their livelihood.

While they believe in justice for Floyd, who died in police custody on May 25 last year — for which former police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter — they are dismayed by city officials who are allowing what they described as an “occupation” and its “unintended consequences.”

“Following … the reduction of the Minneapolis Police Department, there has been uncontrollable crime in this city. … Carjackings have nearly tripled … Reports of bullets whizzing through the streets, businesses, innocent unintended residence homes, into cars and walls are plentiful. There is constant gunfire day and night, … Black businesses have suffered a similar fate having windows shot out from random gunfire, cars stolen, customers not patronizing businesses due to fear of violence in the neighborhood and throughout the city,” the GoFundMe page says, in part.

These once-thriving businesses located at the intersection of 38th Street and Chicago Avenue have seen a loss in revenue of more than 75% with no reprieve in sight. Many residents have described the police-restricted autonomous zone dedicated in Floyd’s memory as a militarized zone, much like Seattle’s Capitol Hill Organized Protest occupation zone where multi people were killed and women reported being raped last summer.

In an attempt to keep their businesses going and their employees paid, the 38th Street Black Business Collective is seeking to raise $400,000. So far, they’ve raised nearly $12,000 toward that goal as of Saturday. The area, according to the business group, “has always been home to some of Minnesota’s most burgeoning Black businesses. This intersection has been home to a thriving Black, community and cultural corridor. However, since May 25th, its reputation has evolved and will now forever be connected to the memory of George Perry Floyd Jr. and the subsequent destruction of our city that followed. …”

They added, “In the fight for justice we must not forget the fight of economic justice of once thriving community. We business owners know that the fight for justice doesn’t just include justice from the legal system we must also include justice for business impacted.”

Andrea Jenkins, a city councilwoman who represents part of the neighborhood, said residents have complained to city council members about the frequency of hearing gunshots and the rise in crime.

“The neighbors deserve to have a level of comfort that does not include gunshots every night, and muggings and carjackings, and all the violent crimes we have been witnessing in this community,” Jenkins, told News Nation in an interview last month.

Kim Griffin, the aunt of 30-year-old Imez Wright, who was working security at the now infamous Cup Foods when he was shot dead inside George Floyd Square, told the news outlet that Minneapolis residents are afraid to enter the area.

“The situation at the memorial, from what I understand, is its kind of volatile,” Griffin said. “People that want to go and support doesn’t feel a sense of inclusion. There is more of a like militant type atmosphere over and a sense of fear.”

Speaker about the circumstances surrounding the March 6 murder of her nephew, who was a youth mentor training to be a mental health practitioner before he was killed, Griffin added: “Police were not allowed to get into that area; he was carried out outside of the zone of George Floyd Square. It was made clear law enforcement was not welcome to penetrate that zone, which is an atrocity because his life was taken, and I mean who knows whether or not he would have survived had things been different.”

Before the fatal shooting of Wright, a man named Dameon Chambers was shot and killed at the square during a Juneteenth celebration. Emergency services arrived at the scene but were blocked from the area. A city document said that “ultimately [police] had to pull Mr. Chambers to an area where the ambulance could access the area.” He later died from his injuries, KIMT News reports.

Recently, activists calling themselves the Twin Cities Encampment Responders have encamped in the square, which is cordoned off by cement barricades, warning that they will stay there through August or until the end of the trial for the three other Minneapolis police officers who were at the scene when Floyd died, Fox News reported.

On Wednesday, the Twin Cities Encampment Responders tweeted, “We don’t need the mayor’s permission to make decisions about our city. 38th & Chicago will be held until our demands are met.”

The Twitter thread referred to the two dozen demands of Justice Resolution 001, which includes continuing the closure of the square until after the trial. The resolution said that the barricades can be negotiated for removal if the city meets their “demands for justice.”

The autonomous zone also has special instructions for white visitors posted on a sign near the entrance, which was tweeted out by Fox News correspondent Matt Finn.

“Decenter yourself and come to listen, learn, mourn, and witness,” the sign said in reference to white people. “Remember you are here to support, not to be supported.”

“Seek to contribute to the energy of the space, rather than to drain it,” the statement continued. “Bring your own processing to other white folks so that you will not harm BIPOC.”

BIPOC is an acronym for black and indigenous people of color.

43 major companies oppose Texas bills to protect girls’ sports, ban trans experimentation on kids

Companies that do business in Texas have signed a statement opposing two bills that would ban boys who identify as female from competing in girls’ sports and ban the use of experimental puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and the genital mutilation of minors suffering from gender dysphoria.

Forty-three companies have deemed the bills as “divisive” and signed a statement advocating for trans-identified athletes to compete in girls’ sports and for minors to be able to obtain elective cosmetic surgeries such as double mastectomies, phalloplasties and orchiectomies (testicle removal).

“We are concerned to see a resurgence of efforts to exclude transgender youth from full participation in their communities, to criminalize or ban best-practice medical care that is proven to save lives, or to exclude LGBTQ people in a variety of other settings, including accessing healthcare, filling a prescription, or seeking legal representation,” reads the statement posted on the website Texas Competes, an LGBT advocacy organization.

Signatories to the statement include Amazon, American Airlines, Apple, Dell Technologies, Dow, Facebook, IBM, Levi Strauss & Co, Microsoft, PayPal and United Airlines.

Texas Competes says it’s “not a political or lobbying organization” but rather a coalition of 1,400 companies that do business in Texas seeking to “provide a unified voice for the Texas business community on the clear economic and business case for a Texas that offers fair treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people.”

The statement, signed by the 43 businesses on April 19, comes as Texas lawmakers seek to advance SB 29, which would require “public school students to compete in interscholastic athletic competitions based on biological sex.” The Texas Senate has already passed the bill. The legislation is now under consideration in the state’s House of Representatives.

Texas lawmakers are also working to pass SB 1646, which would amend “the definition of abuse of a child” to include “administering or supplying, or consenting to or assisting in the administering or supplying of, a puberty suppression prescription drug or cross-sex hormone to a child, other than an intersex child, for the purpose of gender transitioning or gender reassignment.” The Senate has yet to vote on this legislation.

The 43 companies asserted that such bills, if they were to become law, would ” … send a message that is at odds with the Texas we know, and with our own efforts to attract and retain the best talent and to compete for business. We will continue to oppose any unnecessary, divisive measures that would damage Texas’ reputation and make our customers, our visitors, and our employees and their families feel unwelcome or unsafe.”

The companies also expressed support for “the inclusion of LGBTQ people in nondiscrimination laws, including policy that would update Texas’ nondiscrimination laws to include LGBTQ people.”

Eighty-six companies based across the United States (including some that are listed in the Texas Competes statement) have signed onto a separate yet similar statement crafted by the LGBT activist organizations Human Rights Campaign and the Freedom for All Americans Education Fund. The statement, titled “Business Statement on Anti-LGBTQ Legislation,” expressed deep concern over “the bills being introduced in statehouses across the country that single out LGBTQ individuals — many specifically targeting transgender youth — for exclusion or differential treatment.”

“Laws that would affect access to medical care for transgender people, parental rights, social and family services, student sports, or access to public facilities such as restrooms, unnecessarily and uncharitably single out already marginalized groups for additional disadvantage,” the statement asserted. “They seek to put the authority of state government behind discrimination and promote mistreatment of a targeted LGBTQ population.”

Signatories include Adobe, Airbnb, Amazon, American Airlines, Apple, AT&T, Bayer, Ben & Jerry’s, Capital One, Dell, Dow, Dropbox, Facebook, Gap, GoDaddy, Google, Hilton, IKEA, Levi Strauss & Co, Marriott, Microsoft, Nike, Oracle, Patreon, PayPal, PepsiCo, Peloton, Pfizer, T-Mobile, Twitter, Uber, Verizon, Wells Fargo and Zillow.

So far this year, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee have enacted legislation banning biological males who identify as female from competing in girls’ sports. Additional bills are under consideration in more than two dozen states. The Arkansas state Legislature recently passed a bill that would ban minors younger than 18 from being prescribed experimental puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and having genital mutilation surgeries. Gov. Asa Hutchinson, who was expected to sign the bill into law, actually vetoed it. Lawmakers later overrode Hutchinson’s veto. The Alabama state legislature approved similar legislation last month but it has yet to be signed into law by the governor.

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler called for people to ‘stand up’ to rioters destroying his city when he announced Friday that the city’s state of emergency would be extended through Monday.

“They want to burn, they want to bash, they want to intimidate, they want to assault,” Wheeler said during a Friday speech, the New York Post reported. “If BLM leaders can show the courage to stand up to this mob, then we all should.”

Wheeler said that “the self-described anarchist mob” was responsible for the criminal intimidation and violence.”

“Together we can make a stand … and take our city back,” he added.

Riots have been a reoccurring problem in Portland since May 29, 2020, shortly after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. But the mayor seemed hesitant to take steps to quell the unrest and restore peace to Portland. In August, Wheeler rejected then-President Donald Trump’s offer for federal assistance, saying in a statement that the city didn’t need his “politics of division and demagoguery.”

The former president criticized Wheeler’s decision in a tweet calling the mayor a “fool” and said that Portland “won’t put up with no safety any longer.”

Wheeler, while calling for calm, took steps like banning police use of tear gas in September after four months of riots. The Portland Police Bureau said at the time that banning tear gas “will make it very difficult to address this kind of violence without resorting to much higher levels of physical force.”

It took six months of rioting and destruction for Wheeler to announce increased law enforcement actions against the violent mob. By that time, millions of dollars in damage to property and revenue loss had already occurred. Rioters were still causing damage and chaos through mid-April, when crowds set off fireworks and lit buildings on fire near the Portland Police Association.

‘A putrid threat’: China’s persecution of Christians ‘intensified’ in 2020: report

Religious persecution in China intensified in 2020, with thousands of Christians affected by church closures and other human rights abuses, according to a new report from ChinaAid.  ChinaAid’s research on persecution in China last year documented nine church demolitions carried out by Chinese Communist Party authorities, affecting more than 5,000 members and attendees. Overall, CCP authorities persecuted 100% of house churches, the study found, with police summoning and questioning every church’s main leader.

Under the direction of Chinese President Xi Jinping, CCP officials also worked to more fully control religion,” ordering Christians in both official, state-run churches as well as in house churches to fly the Chinese flag, and sing patriotic songs in services. Authorities also directed ministers and priests to “Sinicize” sermons, or alter them to conform to CCP ideology.

According to the report released this week, CCP authorities also invaded Christians’ homes, raided family gatherings, and interfered with parenting decisions. In numerous instances, authorities sued Christians for homeschooling their children or sending them to church-run schools.

“ChinaAid’s research for 2020 confirms that China’s persecution of Christians and of those professing any belief again exceeded incidents reported for the previous year,” the report says.

“As suppressed facts have emerged from dark, secret places, the fallout from the CCP’s persecution, like results from the unchecked Covid-19 pandemic, present a potent, putrid threat to challenge the outside world to pay attention.”

The group said it publishes its annual report to “not only increase awareness of religious persecution in China, but to promote religious freedom for all.”

ChinaAid’s findings come on the heels of the 2021 annual report from The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom that identified China as an egregious violator of human rights, specifically toward Christians and Uyghur Muslims. The report notes that CCP authorities continued their unprecedented use of advanced surveillance technologies to monitor and track religious minorities last year.

“Although the CCP has long repressed religious freedom, in recent years it has become increasingly hostile toward religion,” the report says.

The Commission recommended that the U.S. redesignate China as a “country of particular concern,” or CPC, for engaging in systematic, ongoing, and egregious violations of religious freedom. Previous reports reveal that schools in China have been teaching children that Christianity is an “evil cult, while children are being taught to oppose religion, encouraged to question the beliefs of family members and report those closest to them to authorities.

USCIRF Commissioner Gary Bauer commented: “Communist China doesn’t only deny its citizens basic human rights, including the right to seek and worship God. It is also asserting itself as a new authoritarian model for developing nations around the world. It is actively engaged in undermining international human rights standards. It utilizes its growing military power to intimidate and threaten its neighbors.”

Open Doors ranks China at No. 17 on its World Watch List of 50 countries where Christians are most persecuted.

Boyd-MacMillan, director of Strategic Research at Christian charity Open Doors, recently told Express UK that the CCP is becoming increasingly concerned about the Christian population’s growth and is cracking down on religion as a result.

“We think the evidence as to why the Chinese Church is so targeted, is that the leaders are scared of the size of the Church and the growth of the Church,” Boyd-MacMillan said.

“And if it grows at the rate that it has done since 1980, and that’s about between 7 [percent] and 8 percent a year, then you’re looking at a group of people that will be 300 million strong, nearly by 2030. And, you know, the Chinese leadership, they really do long term planning, I mean, their economic plan goes to 2049, so this bothers them. Because I think if the Church continues to grow like that, then they’ll have to share power.”

Christian leaders form new site to ‘stop corporate tyranny’

Recent weeks have seen a renewed focus of the conservative Christian movement on “woke capital.” Following corporate denouncements of the new Georgia voting law, many Christians and conservatives are looking for ways to resist the growing tide within corporate America of partisan activism. Amidst this controversy, a coalition of conservative and evangelical thought leaders opposed to corporate activism, has launched a new website: StopCorporateTyranny.org. It is dedicated to exposing left-wing activism with corporations and educating conservative Christians about how it can be opposed. The website is a hub for updates, information, and resources for normal investors who are troubled by the growing trend of explicit corporate activism. It includes articles highlighting recent examples of woke capital and will call attention to campaigns to push-back against corporate politics.

“Free speech is under attack like never before. Activists are weaponizing Big Tech and other corporations as an arm of cancel culture,” said Jeremy Tedesco, senior counsel and SVP of communications at the Alliance Defending Freedom. “While we continue to enjoy strong legal protections for free speech, our cultural institutions, our universities, and our corporations are rejecting free speech, and even punishing people for expressing their ideas. We face the very real risk of our societal norm of robust debate and dialogue being replaced with shaming, shunning, and silencing. Big Tech’s ongoing campaign of censorship against conservative and religious views is a prime example of this ominous threat to all Americans. Free speech is a cornerstone of a vibrant and prosperous nation. It’s essential for democracy, the search for truth, and as a check on governmental power and tyranny. Instead of virtue signaling to a woke mob that’s never appeased, corporations should take actions that build up a culture of free speech and religious freedom that will serve their customers, employees, and all Americans for generations to come.”

Within the conservative movement, there has been much discussion over the possibility of regulating big business to ensure ideological neutrality by law. Such a move is rife with potential complications, and even if those complications are resolved and some concrete policy proposal is found, it will likely be several years before the Republican Party is in a position to legislate on this issue.

But, while some wait for fairer political winds, progressive partisanship in American business is only increasing. The StopCorporateTyranny.org project is a mobilization of the conservative movement to fight back against corporate activism now, regardless of which party controls the White House.

This campaign comes at a time of increasing scrutiny over corporate activism. For many religious and conservative leaders, the recent attacks by corporate America on Georgia’s voting law have prompted a re-examination of what the political focus for their movement should be. Since the election of Donald Trump, big businesses – particularly tech giants – have become more openly partisan and politically involved. Richard Manning, President of Americans for Limited Government, said by email that “the attack on Georgia over their decision to require voter identification for voters by multi-national corporations is reminiscent to the attack on North Carolina led by Silicon Valley corporations when the state voted to keep men out of women’s restrooms.”

In the intervening years between North Carolina’s 2015 “bathroom bill” and today, corporate boardrooms have increasingly become a focal point for progressive politics. Despite the long-standing tradition of conservative support for corporations, corporate activism is now so widespread that many Republican officeholders are openly advocating punitive actions by government against some of the largest companies in America.

Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri recently announced his support for breaking up Amazon. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida declared his support for Amazon workers attempting to unionize, accusing the tech-giant of “waging a culture war against working-class values.” It is increasingly the view of many that the alliance between the political left and corporate America represents a serious threat to traditional values.

In some cases, businesses have explicitly committed themselves to deplatforming conservative dissent. Following the passage of Georgia’s voting law, dozens of corporate leaders participated in a Zoom call in which they discussed how to oppose voting laws being proposed in other red states. But most of the country does not believe that the proper role for corporations is advocating for political causes.

In the midst of this flashpoint, StopCorporateTyranny.org is an emerging resource for educating conservatives and Christians on how to push back against the politicization of big business – which does not rely on government action, as the makeup of the federal government does not determine whether shareholders, investors, and customers can rein in boardrooms. It is a grass-roots effort, headed by some of the leaders of the conservative Christian movement, designed to provide tools to ordinary Americans for resisting corporate activism. “Right now, nearly 400 large corporations are pushing Capitol Hill to enact the Equality Act. Working in concert with the far-left Human Rights Campaign, these major businesses are not only seeking to end women’s sports, but to end religious freedom. Full stop,” Justin Danhof, director of the Free Enterprise Project at the National Center for Public Policy Research, said by email. “Americans of faith must engage with these corporate oppressors and https://www.stopcorporatetyranny.org will provide you with the tools and resources to do just that. It’s time that big businesses heard from all ‘stakeholders’ not just those pushing leftist policies.”

Amazon forces employees to discuss their white privilege during regular meetings, whistleblower speaks out

“Vice presidents at Amazon are “forced to talk about how they grew up with unconscious biases” while acknowledging their white guilt and discussing the privileges they have because they are white.”

Amazon forces employees to discuss their white privilege during regular meetings, whistleblower speaks out

Amazon forces their white male executives to partake in company-run “town halls,” discussing their white privilege and “unconscious racial bias” with other employees during monthly meetings, according to an Amazon employee whistleblower. In an interview with the Daily Wire, the company insider said that once a month, vice presidents at Amazon are “forced to talk about how they grew up with unconscious biases” while acknowledging their white guilt and discussing the privileges they have because they are white.

According to the whistleblower, White privilege is part of “a wider company culture that seems to be forcing itself down on all of the employees.”

“Obviously they bring out the white male VPs to talk about all this,” the insider said.

Included in the town halls are live Q&A sessions where employees are given the opportunity to participate in discussions with senior fellows about experiences with their white privilege, Daily Wire reports.

“The stories that they come back with are so obviously just false and fake, but it’s just stuff that they have to say during these meetings,” the insider said.

Amazon sent out an internal email to employees earlier in the week which highlighted specific goals the company has to achieve greater means of equity, inclusion, and diversity—which promoted the whistleblower to speak out against the company.

“These goals represent the next step in Amazon’s diversity, equity, and inclusion journey, not the final destination,” Amazon human resources chief Beth Galetti wrote in a post on Amazon’s blog.

The company’s goals for the year includes hiring more black employees to senior positions and to increase the number of black employees by at least 30 percent in less senior positions. Amazon also aims to hire at least 40 percent more black software development engineer interns, Daily Wire reported.

“The most important work we did in 2020 was less visible,” Amazon’s post read. “We spent several months diving deep into the mechanisms we use to hire, develop, and promote employees, so that we can better identify opportunities to ensure equitable access for all.”

“Much of the conversation in 2020 was about the Black community,” the company added.

The Amazon insider says the true meaning behind Amazon’s equity goals remain unclear but the insider believes the company is trying to even out racial representation across departments while also mentioning Amazon’s tech department is 90 percent Indian and Asian.

“It seems like they’re no longer sticking to the ‘we’ll hire the best person for the job’ narrative that they’ve been pushing,” the insider said.

Amazon will implement internal reporting on equity issues and will hammer down on departments that fail to uphold the company’s goals of equity, inclusion, and diversity. The company also plans to force their employees to participate in mandatory inclusion trainings. During the training sessions, employees are given political scenarios. One example includes a minority employee being wronged their boss and trainees are then asked to choose the proper response for the given situation, the Daily Wire said.

The Amazon insider added that all large company meetings begin with discussions about equity, inclusion, and diversity.

Rand Paul: If feds want more folks vaccinated, Biden should take his mask off and burn it on TV

Reported by BRECK DUMAS | April 21, 2021

Read more at https://www.conservativereview.com/rand-paul-if-feds-want-more-folks-vaccinated-biden-should-take-his-mask-off-and-burn-it-on-tv-2652686577.html/

GOP Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) said Wednesday that the federal government’s messaging on vaccines has been full of “fearmongering” and suggested the best way to get more people on board with taking COVID-19 shots is for President Joe Biden to take off his mask and burn it on national television.

During an interview with Fox News, the Kentucky Republican and ophthalmologist continued his criticism of Dr. Anthony Fauci, whom he has sparred with several times over the course of the pandemic.

“Science is about proving things are happening,” Paul told host Martha MacCallum. “If Dr. Fauci can prove that people who are vaccinated are spreading the disease, I will listen to him. If he can prove that people like me who have already had it are spreading the disease, I’ll listen to him. But there is no evidence of that.”

Then, the senator offered some advice, saying, “If you want more people to get vaccinated, Joe Biden should go on national TV, take his mask off, and burn it. Light a torch to it, and burn his mask and say, ‘I’ve had the vaccine, I am now safe from this plague. If you get the vaccine, you can be safe too.'”

He argued, “The burden of proof should be on the government to prove that we’re spreading it and we will listen to them, but instead it sounds sort of like fearmongering.”

Meanwhile, the Biden administration continues to urge states and localities to re-implement mask mandates across the nation.

The Washington Examiner noted that earlier that day, Biden told the American people they must continue “to mask up until the number of cases goes down, until everyone has a chance to get their shot.”

This is not the first time Paul has accused federal officials of ignoring evidence while issuing their guidance. Last week, he blasted Biden administration officials for advising states like Michigan to re-impose lockdowns, saying:

“It doesn’t obey the science. There is no scientific evidence that the lockdowns in Michigan have done anything, or in California. In fact, the daily incidents of the disease in the last two months has been about almost one and a half times greater in California than it has been in Florida. The death rate is lower in Florida. So there is no real correlation between economic lockdowns, mask mandates, or any of this.”

Ann Coulter Op-ed: Thanks, Derek Chauvin Jurors! You’re Safe Now. We Aren’t.

Thanks, Derek Chauvin Jurors! You’re Safe Now. We Aren’t.

Source: Court TV via AP, Pool

To watch the hours of celebratory fist-pumping from government officials and black activists after the guilty verdicts against police officer Derek Chauvin this week, you’d think Minnesota had just won the NCAA tournament. One man is dead and another will be spending up to 40 years in prison. How about Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison show a little dignity, with something like: “We had the trial; we’ve got a verdict; I’m not taking any questions”?

Nope! We got a one-hour spirit rally for the championship team. The key was teamwork. Our guys practiced every night — staying even after the gym had closed! We couldn’t have done it without the fans.

There wasn’t this much triumphalism when Ted Bundy was convicted! He murdered 30 women, escaped from jail twice, and killed again before finally being brought to trial. We didn’t have hours of gloating after they got the Green River Killer, and it took 20 years to catch him.

Maybe we’ve gotten less decorous in the past few decades. But how about celebrating the conviction of a gangbanger who killed an 8-year-old girl in a drive-by? Would the media be as giddy about that? Not likely. Wild celebrations are in order only for the railroading of a cop.

The prosecutors must feel great! All it took was threatening the jurors with riots and personal destruction to get the verdict they wanted. Real Ciceros, these guys.

Chauvin was forced to flee his home last year, which naturally had been vandalized, requiring constant police presence. Barricades have recently been erected around the home of officer Kim Potter, who accidentally shot escaping violent gun offender Daunte Wright last week.

The day before Chauvin’s case went to the jury, a defense witness — a witness! — had his former home in California vandalized with pigs’ blood and a pig’s head. So I’m sure the jurors reached their verdict purely based on the evidence, after a careful weighing of both sides in the Anglo-Saxon tradition.

We’re told that this is only the beginning, big changes are in the air. Does that mean every case against a cop will come with threats of mob violence?

Here’s one big change in policing that will come out of the Chauvin trial: No longer will police use the least amount of force on vulnerable individuals, like George Floyd. From here on out, the safety of the perp will take a back seat to avoiding unflattering cellphone videos. A key point brought out at trial was this: As soon as Chauvin arrived on the scene, he would have been within his rights to use a Taser or stun gun on Floyd. The prosecution’s use-of-force experts agreed! Chauvin employed a less aggressive restraint that looked worse to bystanders. Big mistake.

By now, surely, all law enforcement officers realize that their one overriding concern must always be the optics, not the reality. Unlike other public servants, police have to do their jobs while under the watchful eye of cellphone cameras. What matters is how things appear to idiot onlookers.

Heart disease is rampant in the African American community. Combine that with drug use and behavioral problems — and there are a lot more George Floyds out there waiting to happen. According to the medical examiner, it was the stress of being restrained — combined with Floyd’s heart condition and massive amount of fentanyl in his system — that killed him. If lying on the ground was too much stress on Floyd’s heart, how about 50,000 volts of electricity? Again, according to the state’s use-of-force experts, that would have been A-OK.

Got a resisting arrestee? Zap him with the stun gun and heave him in the back of the police van. Whatever happens after that, at least you won’t have a chubby EMT screaming at you and taking videos.

True, Floyd stood a better chance of going on living by NOT being zapped with a stun gun. On the other hand, Chauvin stood a better chance of staying out of prison if he’d just gotten Floyd in the police van, pronto.

Nice work, Minnesota!

The other big change coming down the pike is that we are headed back to the 1960s in terms of crime. Already, 2020 marked the largest year-to-year increase in murders in the history of the country. In Minneapolis alone, the murder rate doubled. Get ready for a lot more violent crime, emboldened criminals and less aggressive police. To the unwitting citizens of Minnesota who will soon have their lives snuffed out, just remember: The jurors were worried about their own personal security. It was your life or theirs, and they decided the better part of valor was to sacrifice yours.

Their motto: I regret that I have only dozens of other people’s lives to give for my virtue.

Planned Parenthood condemns founder’s tie to white supremacy; pro-lifers call it ‘fake reckoning’

Pro-life activists have responded after Planned Parenthood President Alexis McGill Johnson denounced the organization’s founder, Margaret Sanger, and accused the head of the abortion giant of attempting to undertake a “fake reckoning” regarding Sanger’s ties to the eugenics movement.

Johnson, who heads the nation’s largest abortion provider, wrote a New York Times op-ed Saturday titled: “I’m the Head of Planned Parenthood. We’re Done Making Excuses for Our Founder.”

Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger | (Photo: Wikimedia Commons)

Johnson, who took over as Planned Parenthood president in 2019, noted that questions about Margaret Sanger’s views on race have loomed large in recent years. She stressed that “We must reckon with Margaret Sanger’s association with white supremacist groups and eugenics.”

Up until now, Planned Parenthood has failed to own the impact of our founder’s actions. We have defended Sanger as a protector of bodily autonomy and self-determination, while excusing her association with white supremacist groups and eugenics as an unfortunate ‘product of her time,’” she wrote.

“Until recently, we have hidden behind the assertion that her beliefs were the norm for people of her class and era, always being sure to name her work alongside that of W.E.B. Dubois and other Black freedom fighters.”

She acknowledged that Sanger “spoke to the women’s auxiliary of the Ku Klux Klan at a rally in New Jersey to generate support for birth control” and “endorsed the Supreme Court’s 1927 decision in Buck v. Bell, which allowed states to sterilize people deemed ‘unfit’ without their consent and sometimes without their knowledge.”

Johnson highlighted Planned Parenthood’s efforts to make “Margaret Sanger less prominent in our present and future.”

Maintaining that “Sanger remains an influential part of our history and will not be erased,” Johnson illustrated the need for her organization to “fully take responsibility for the harm that Sanger caused to generations of people with disabilities and Black, Latino, Asian-American, and Indigenous people.”

The rest of the op-ed focused on what Johnson viewed as the positive effects of Planned Parenthood, specifically that the availability of birth control led to wage gains among women in addition to expressing support for combating systemic racism.

In response to Johnson’s op-ed, the pro-life group Human Coalition and its affiliated advocacy organization Human Coalition Action released statements arguing that the Planned Parenthood president’s attempt to apologize for Sanger was insufficient. According to Human Coalition Action Board Chair Deborah Honeycutt, “Planned Parenthood has contributed to the harm of women of color for decades, and Alexis McGill Johnson’s so-called ‘reckoning’ does nothing to change that truth.”

“They have failed to confront white supremacy within its own organization, as they continue to aggressively pray on Black and brown communities with abortion,” Honeycutt stated.

“Destroying human life contributes to a culture of death and injustice, and Planned Parenthood will always be known for killing a generation of minorities, just as Margaret Sanger dreamed that it would.”

Benjamin Watson, former NFL football player and vice president of strategic relations for Human Coalition, argued that it is time for Planned Parenthood “to take the next step, or their denunciation of Margaret Sanger rings hollow.”

“Whether they personally identify with Sanger’s ideology or not, they continue to carry out her mission, by serving as the leading executioner of our children,” Watson, who retired in 2020 after 15 seasons in the NFL, stated.

“The same Sanger they claim to disavow would applaud their efforts and results, as a disproportionate percentage of Black children have been killed in Planned Parenthood’s abortion clinics. Acknowledging a racist history does not absolve them of the blood on their hands, as they continue to take full advantage of victims of the racism they decry.”

Human Coalition Action Executive Director Rev. Dean Nelson expressed gratitude that Johnson admitted “what many Black leaders have said for decades — Margaret Sanger harbored racist and eugenicist views.”

Responding to Johnson, he argued that “The problem with Margaret Sanger is more than just her ‘association’ with white supremacist groups and eugenics.”

“You cannot acknowledge the racist person and history without admitting to the racist vision that has resulted in nearly 80 percent of Planned Parenthood’s abortion facilities being located within walking distance of minority neighborhoods,” Nelson continued. “There’s no redeeming Planned Parenthood’s tainted origins and current day racist practices. It’s a grave injustice that Planned Parenthood uses the taxpayer dollars of Black and brown people to continue Margaret Sanger’s legacy of racism and eugenicism across the country.”

Johnson’s op-ed comes more than six months after a group of more than 120 black leaders urged Planned Parenthood to “confront its racist founding, mission and practices.”

Last summer, before the black leaders wrote the letter to Johnson, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York removed Sanger’s name from its building. Johnson cited that action in the op-ed as an example of the organization’s efforts to distance itself from Sanger.

Despite the newfound scrutiny surrounding Sanger’s support for eugenics, the Smithsonian Institute unveiled a new “Girlhood” exhibit last October at the Museum of American History. The exhibit paid tribute to Sanger alongside another notable figure in women’s history.

Planned Parenthood is not the only abortion and birth control provider to distance itself from its founder in recent months. The global abortion provider MSI Reproductive Choices, formerly known as Marie Stopes International, changed its name last year to disassociate from its namesake over her “advocacy of eugenics.”

I have had these thoughts for a while hoping someone else more eloquent would say the same thing. If that has happened, I apologize for this drivel.

First of all, I wish those life forms that arrived from the planet Moron would board up and go back to their universe and leave us the hell alone. It’s moronic to take 10’s of thousands jobs away just because you want to go “green”. Even the least of all morons will agree that you don’t shut down one industry while you develop another.

These life forms have never started a business, hired workers and maintained a payroll. As a results they have these “pie-in-the-sky” ideas that are Pollyanna, and lack the concern for the American people and the lives they are building.

Need more proof they are from the planet Moron? If you really do understand the middle class and the lives, they build based on the income they earn, then you never insult them telling them to go to work in the Solar market when you don’t have any idea what those jobs, where available, are actually paying. Such stinking thinking is the result of Socialistic stinking thinking. Only pretend you care and let them eat cake.

Based on the results of the last four years it has become obvious to me that we need to fire all the Morons from the Planet Moron, and the human life forms that have had their brains eaten by the life forms Moron, then ship them back to planet Moron. Then hire only businesspeople who have started businesses, maintained a payroll, and have demonstrated common sense in their business practices. ALL LAWYER TYPES NEED NOT APPLY.

Second. Once the Morons have left, then we can stop the MOB RULE. Let us be very honest here. The Leftist have developed a MOB RULE mentality that drives every aspect of their rule. At times it is outright intimidation: DO WHAT WE WANT OR WE WILL HURT THIS CITY, THE INNOCENT BUSINESS OWNERS AND WHOEVER GETS IN OUR WAY. It works, because they always get away with it and no one ever goes to jail and then to prison.

Other times they advance toward holding entire cities hostage until they get what they want, what verdict they want, the election outcome they want or any other thing they desire, but know they cannot obtain by legislative, or other normal means.

Mob Rule implies the actions of “the mob”. Operating just inside the law to obtain their sordid gains. The Left is very aware they cannot win any more elections unless it’s by mob rule because their message is no longer of any relevance.

Have we reached the point where the “bully” has won and cannot be defeated? Are we as a nation going to be ruled by these mobs, or are we going to get our freedom back? Can it be done without bloodshed? Anyone praying that way?

Please give me your perspective, ideas, prayers, or any comments you would like to add to the conversation.

Chauvin Trial Judge: Rep. Maxine Waters’ threats may result in “this whole trial being overturned” on appeal

Posted by William A. Jacobson | Monday, April 19, 2021

Read more at https://legalinsurrection.com/2021/04/chauvin-trial-judge-rep-maxine-waters-threats-may-result-in-this-whole-trial-being-overturned-on-appeal/

For years Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters has gotten away with stoking political violence, without ever behing held to account by the media or her own party. This time her sleazy incitement may have real world consequences.

Just yesterday Waters threatened Protesters Need to “Get More Confrontational” If No “Murder” Conviction Of Derek Chauvin: “We got to get more confrontational. We got to make sure they know we mean business.”

Today the defense in the Chauvin trial moved for a mistrial based on Water’s comments. The judge denied the mistrial motion, but noted it may be an issue on appeal and could lead to any conviction being overturned.

The Post Millenial reports:

“I’ll give you that Congresswoman Waters may have given you something on appeal that may result in this whole trial being overturned.” He said further that I’m aware that “Congresswoman Waters was talking specifically about this trial, and about the unacceptability of anything less than a murder conviction, and talking about being confrontational, but you can submit the press articles about that. This goes back to what I’ve been saying from the beginning: I wish that elected officials would stop talking about this case, especially in a manner that is disrespectful to the rule of law and the judicial branch and our function.“ I think if they want to give their opinions, they should do so in a respectful, and in a manner that is consistent with their commitment to the constitution, to respect the co-equal branch of government. Their failure to do so is abhorrent, but I don’t think it has prejudiced us with additional material that would prejudice this jury. They have been told not to watch the news and I trust that they are following these instructions and that there is not in any way a prejudice…

“A congresswoman’s opinion really doesn’t matter a whole lot,” Cahill concluded, and denied the motion for a mistrial.

The obvious reason for the Judge to deny a mistrial is that if there is a not guilty verdict on all counts, then the issue of Waters’ threats goes away. Andrew Branca will have his full write up later tonight, but I think the defense counsel Eric Nelson was phenomenol in closing, he picked apart the timeline of the 9-minute video. He was so good that the prosecution rebuttal was mostly personal attacks on him, which led to another motion for mistrial that was denied.

Baylor basketball coach credits ‘Christ-centered program’ after winning 1st championship (interview)

Reported By Emily Wood, Christian Post Reporter | Monday, April 19, 2021

Baylor University men’s basketball coach Scott Drew speaks with players during a timeout. The Baylor men’s basketball program won its first NCAA championship on April 5, 2021. | Baylor University

Fostering a Christ-first, others-second team model, the Baylor University Bears won their first NCAA men’s basketball national title earlier this month, completing a championship turnaround over 17 years after scandal and murder rocked the program. But unlike many other Division I basketball teams, the Bears took steps to ensure Christ was at the center of their program, not selfish ambition.

Moments after clinching the national title and being presented with the national championship trophy, Baylor Coach Scott Drew told CBS’ Jim Nantz that his team plays with a “culture of J.O.Y.,” which stands for “Jesus, Others and then Yourself.”

Drew, who has been the men’s head basketball coach at the Waco, Texas-based university since 2003, told The Christian Post in an interview last Friday that the “culture of J.O.Y.” motto factors into how the team seeks to honor God and love others.

“J.O.Y., it’s pretty simple, ‘Jesus, Others, Yourself. [Its] very easy to remember and yet so hard to do. But at the end of the day, we want to make sure we always honor and give credit to Jesus first, and our teammates and others second, and talk about ourselves third,” Drew, the son of National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame coach Homer Drew, explained.

He said all Baylor coaches strive for their team to play selflessly. But with a Christ-centered approach to life, this is easier to achieve.

“As coaches, your mission and goal for any team is to put your teammates in front of yourself,” he said. “Obviously, the only person you would want before others would be God. So if you could keep that priority, then obviously you’re playing selfless, you’re playing for others, you don’t have the pressure on yourself to perform.”

“At the same time, as we get older in life, you know it’s much better to give than to receive. Yet, obviously, with sin in the world, we get prideful, we get jealous, we want to get the attention. So it’s a constant battle …,” he continued. “It’s such a hard thing to actually enact. So you do have to love your teammates to put them in front of you, and it’s only through God’s grace and mercy are we able to do those kinds of things.”

Since Baylor is a Christian university — one of America’s largest Baptist universities — there are many ways for team members to become active in their faith. But the coaches seek to integrate faith into the team’s routine. Every practice begins and ends in prayer. The team also has Bible studies and holds gameday chapel services.

“So basically, everything we do is intertwined with being a Christ-centered program,” he said.

While in Indianapolis for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, players had the opportunity to have communion together for Easter weekend, Drew shared.

“Everyone comes into college spiritually at a different stage of life, and that’s the beauty of working at Baylor,” Drew said. “We’re trying to prepare champions for life. So, it’s a four-prong attack. It’s not only on the basketball court, but it’s also spiritual development, academic development and then character formation. So, what you’re trying to do is to touch and affect every part of their life. Obviously, winning in the game of life is most important and that would be the spiritual part.”

The Baylor atmosphere is ideal for 18 to 22-year-old college students surrounded by so much temptation, Drew explained.

“Jesus came for the sick, not the healthy, and we all sin,” the 50-year-old coach said. “We’re all saved by grace. So our staff does a great job at not judging people but trying to help them come along and mature as their years at Baylor progress.”

Drew has witnessed this in the spiritual growth of his team. He has had years where as many as six players have been baptized in one season.

Drew, who grew up in a Christian home and was saved at an early age, said his relationship with Christ began to mature when he became involved with Athletes in Action, a Cru ministry that teaches athletes to find and grow in a relationship with Jesus.

Baylor University men’s basketball coach Scott Drew claps his hands in approval during a game against the University of Kansas. The Baylor men’s basketball program won its first NCAA championship on April 5, 2021. | Baylor University

After following in his father’s footsteps by coaching at Valparaiso, Drew accepted the Baylor men’s basketball position in 2003 after the team had experienced the murder of one of its players by a teammate and was under fire for NCAA violations, bribery and drug use.

“When [the Baylor position] came open, the first thing I obviously did was pray about it. And then, I felt led to come here. And after meeting with the leadership at the time, I loved the vision they had for the university and the plans they had …,” Drew recalled. “They wanted to make it one of the premier Christian institutions in Division I and they had a lot of big plans as far as new buildings, new facilities and ways to honor God and bring attention to the Gospel through it.”

When he arrived at Baylor, the men’s basketball program had a long way to go to reach championship success after being imposed with strict NCAA sanctions and self-imposed restrictions due to its violations. The team was also recovering from the tragedy involving the murder of forward Patrick Dennehy, who teammate Carlton Dotson shot in the summer of 2003. Even then, Drew never doubted the team would one day win a national title.

“[A national championship] was always the goal,” he said. “We never put a timetable on it, but when we took the job, being younger, I probably thought it would happen sooner because when you’re younger, you’re a little more ambitious or think things can happen a little quicker than they actually do.”

In recent years the team had come close to winning the title, he said. In 2010, Baylor lost to Duke University in the Elite Eight. And in 2012, Baylor lost to the University of Kentucky, who went on to win the national title. Baylor has averaged 24 wins per season since the first year that Drew led the Bears to the NCAA Tournament in 2008. Since 2008, Baylor has become one of the most consistent men’s basketball programs in the nation. Waiting nearly two decades to win the national title at Baylor made winning that much sweeter, Drew said.

“God’s timing is always best,” Drew stressed. “So, after being close but not having reached the Final Four or won a national championship, it made … me appreciate it that much more and know just what a blessing this year was when we made it to the Final Four and won a national championship. I think if we’d have done it in 2010, we probably wouldn’t have appreciated it or understood what a blessing it was.”

Oral Roberts University Coach Paul Mills coached with Drew at Baylor for 14 years before becoming ORU’s head coach in 2017 and leading ORU on a Cinderella run to the Sweet 16 in 2021. Mills shared with CP in a recent interview how Baylor’s program always emphasized that ‘unless the Lord builds the house, [the labor is in vain].’”

Drew alluded to this nod toward Scripture and said a strong foundation is essential.

“If God doesn’t ordain it, bless it, then it’s not going to happen, it’s not going to last,” Drew stated. “[It’s] Very similar to building and having a strong foundation on the rock rather than sand. So you gotta be prepared for when the storms come because the storms are going to come. And if you don’t have that solid foundation, then you’re not going to last, and it’s not going to hold up.”

BUSTED: CDC Created and Was Passing Out Coronavirus Vaccine ID Cards to States Back in August ’20 — Months Before the Vaccine Created

The world reacted with great optimism at the news announced in November days after the election that test subjects given a COVID-19 vaccine being developed by Pfizer had 90 percent fewer symptomatic infections of the China coronavirus than those given a placebo. This was after the November election.  Pfizer delayed their testing to not influence the election — for Trump.

President Trump repeatedly said in the fall that it looked like a vaccine might be announced in October.  Trump was on the right track, but the science community decided to hold off until after the election. But way before this the CDC was passing out COVID Vaccine ID Cards to different state governments.

I was doing a bit of internet sleuthing and was looking for a template for a COVID INJECTION card. With the fact that they are standardized I assumed that many places online would have a PDF out of convenience for local offices. VOILA, Google didn’t let me down. Now of course I was going to just fill my own out and take advantage of KRISPY KREME and their stupidity…..BUT WAIT! The date of the template is from 8/17/20!

Here is the link and information below…

And here is a closeup of the card with a date from August 2020.

The tyrants in government have been talking and thinking about this idea for MUCH LONGER than they have let on!

70-year-old Mexican-American grandmother brutally beaten on bus by attacker who thought she was Asian

An elderly Mexican-American woman in California was reportedly savagely beaten by an attacker who thought the woman was Asian and hurled an anti-Chinese racial slur at her, according to reports. A 70-year-old woman was riding on a bus to go grocery shopping in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles last Friday afternoon, the victim’s son told the Eastsider. The elderly woman was getting off the bus to go to the Vons supermarket when another passenger screamed an anti-Chinese racial epithet at the Mexican-American woman. The suspect brutally beat the Mexican-American woman, whom she allegedly believed to be Asian.

“The victim’s son reportedly says that a female passenger, described as ‘black,’ called his mother an anti-Asian slur and then attacked her,” KTLA reported.

The attacker reportedly pulled out some of the victim’s hair as she dragged her from the back of the bus to the front. The son said his mother suffered a concussion and a broken nose from the assault. Her leg was badly injured, and she now has difficulty walking, according to her son. She was allegedly held overnight in a hospital. Photos show the unnamed woman’s face severely bruised and swollen.

“Nobody would help,” the victim’s son alleges. “Not even the bus driver.”

A passenger called 911 to report the vicious beating. The Los Angeles Police Department said that a suspect was apprehended shortly after the assault. LAPD said Yasmine Beasley, 23, was arrested on felony battery charges, according to the New York Post. LAPD spokesman William Cooper told the Los Angeles Times that he did not know whether prosecutors were pursuing hate crime charges.

Jail records show that Beasley is being held on a $130,000 bond and is due in court on Friday, Crime Online reported.

The Stop AAPI Hate Reporting Center, which tracks incidents of discrimination, hate, and xenophobia against Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders, reported 3,975 racially motivated incidents against Asian-Americans between March 19 last year and Feb. 28, 2021. Nearly 45% of the incidents in the United States took place in California, and 68% of the victims were female.

Ashli Babbitt’s Legal Team Releases Statement After DOJ Abruptly Closes Investigation into Her Murder inside the US Capitol

Reported By Tayler Hansen | Published April 14, 2021

As reported earlier — The Biden Justice Department announced Wednesday it has closed the investigation into the homicide death of Trump supporter Ashli Babbitt that took place inside the Capitol during the January 6 riot. This was while Congress was meeting in joint session to certify the November presidential election in favor of Joe Biden.

Babbitt, who was unarmed, was shot and killed without apparent warning by a plainclothes Capitol Police officer as she climbed through a broken window in a door at the Speaker’s Lobby. The name of the officer was not released. he DOJ stated that shooting her dead without warning was appropriate.  Evidently, this is the new standard for murder in our country.

Display at funeral service for Ashli Babbitt, February 21, 2021, photo by Taylor Hansen

Ashli Babbitt was a 35-year-old Air Force veteran who left behind a husband, Aaron Babbitt. The couple ran a pool service business in Spring Valley, California. On Wednesday afternoon the lead attorney representing the Babbit family, Terry Roberts, issued a press release following the DOJ’s earlier announcement.

Roberts explained, “A press release issued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office declared that “(t)he investigation revealed no evidence to establish beyond a reasonable doubt that the officer willfully committed a violation of 18 U.S.C. Sec. 242…   This double-negative is an odd way of explaining the basis for not bringing charges. It plainly glosses over the obvious problems of squaring the decision not to prosecute with the known facts. The actual evidence is this: the officer shot an unarmed woman who was not an immediate threat to him or any Member of Congress. This is inconsistent with any claim of self-defense.

Roberts then ended his statement by stating the legal team’s decision to proceed with their goal of true justice, “We strongly disagree with the U.S. Attorney’s decision. But we are not dissuaded from our goal of ultimately vindicating Ashli Babbitt’s constitutional rights in the civil arena.”

The shooting death of US Veteran Ashli Babbit was murder, plain and simple. Babbit did not represent a threat. The officer did not warn Babbit and disappeared after he shot her in cold blood. This case is far from over.

Democrats introduce bill to add 4 seats to the Supreme Court; Pompeo calls effort ‘political games’

Democrats in U.S. Congress have announced controversial legislation that would add four seats to the U.S. Supreme Court in response to the current conservative majority. However, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has reportedly said she won’t bring such legislation to the floor for a vote.

Introduced Thursday, the bill is known as the Judiciary Act of 2021 and would increase the number of justices on the Supreme Court for the first time since the 19th century. Sponsors include House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler of New York, Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet Hank Johnson of Georgia and Rep. Mondaire Jones of New York. In the Senate, the bill is backed by Sen. Edward J. Markey of Massachusetts.

In a statement, Markey claimed that “Republicans stole the Court’s majority, with Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation completing their crime spree.”

“Senate Republicans have politicized the Supreme Court, undermined its legitimacy, and threatened the rights of millions of Americans, especially people of color, women, and our immigrant communities,” he argued.

“This legislation will restore the Court’s balance and public standing and begin to repair the damage done to our judiciary and democracy, and we should abolish the filibuster to ensure we can pass it.”

Over the past couple of years, some progressive politicians and activists have pushed to add more justices to the Supreme Court to counter what is now a 6-3 conservative majority. During his only term in office, President Donald Trump appointed three justices to the Supreme Court. Those confirmations came after Republicans in the Senate blocked President Barack Obama’s 2016 nomination of Merrick Garland following Justice Antonin Scalia’s death.

Following Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death, Democrats were upset that the Republican-controlled Senate quickly confirmed Barrett to the court last October just days before the 2020 election but never held a confirmation vote for Garland even though he was nominated months before the 2016 election.

Last week, President Joe Biden signed an executive order creating a commission comprised of 36 individuals to assess the Supreme Court’s current status and whether to reform it. House Speaker Pelosi reportedly declared Thursday that she would not bring the bill to the floor for a vote. According to CNN’s Manu Raju, Pelosi responded with a “no” when asked if she would bring a bill to expand the Supreme Court to the floor. However, she reportedly said that she backs the White House commission to study the idea.

“I think it’s an idea that should be considered,” she reportedly said. “It’s not out of the question … I have no intention to bring it to the floor.”

Former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany is not sold by Pelosi’s remarks.

“Do not fall for the Left’s game. Dems put forward a Supreme Court packing bill. Pelosi not there yet but says she supports Biden ‘bipartisan’ commission,” McEnany tweeted. “Commission is 2-to-1 stacked w/ liberals Supporting commission = Supporting court packing.”

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized the legislation in a tweet Thursday morning.

“Our Supreme Court Justices uphold the rule of law, not the emotion of law,” he wrote. “Packing the Supreme Court to tilt favorable outcomes brings partisan politics into the courtroom. SCOTUS is the last place we need political games.”

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina called expanding the Supreme Court a “terrible idea” and vowed to vote against it.

Critics of the plan to pack the high court include Walter Shapiro of The Brennan Center for Justice, who wrote in 2019 that the plan seems “like a banana-republic attempt to change the rules in the middle of the game.” Shapiro drew a parallel to President Franklin Roosevelt’s attempt to pack the court when its conservative majority often struck down his New Deal efforts.

He noted that, eventually, Roosevelt abandoned his effort in part because the makeup of the Supreme Court began to change more in his favor without the need to add justices.

“The principled argument against 21st-century court packing is that it is dangerous to tamper with the mechanisms of democracy to thwart a single political figure,” wrote Shapiro.

“For times change while power eventually ebbs. But restructuring the Supreme Court could have lasting repercussions long after the current crisis is as forgotten as the mid-1930s conservative decisions that jeopardized the New Deal.”

Lebanon, a haven for Christianity, on the brink of collapse if world fails to act, experts warn

Damaged furniture is seen in the foreground as people attend Sunday mass at the partially damaged St. Antoine Church on August 16, 2020, in Beirut, Lebanon. The explosion at Beirut’s port last week killed over 200 people, injured thousands, and upended countless lives. Lebanon, known as a haven for Christianity in the Middle East, is on the brink of financial collapse and teeters on the edge of failed-state status if its path is not quickly reversed, an expert roundtable hosted by a leading Middle Eastern Christians advocacy group warned.

“Lebanon is moving rapidly towards total state failure. Full collapse would take weeks to unfold but decades to repair,” former U.S. Ambassador Ed Gabriel, the president of the American Task Force on Lebanon, said during a media roundtable hosted by In Defense of Christians last Friday.

Richard Ghazal, a senior advisor for IDC, a nonpartisan Washington-based grassroots human rights organization, said Lebanon will not remain “the final remaining bastion of Christianity in the Middle East” if immediate action does not take place to reverse the country’s downfall.

The explosion in Lebanon’s capital city of Beirut on Aug. 4 led to over 200 deaths, thousands of injuries and the destruction of over 300,000 homes. The explosion worsened Lebanon’s financial and humanitarian crisis as the country with nearly a 40% Christian population was already in a state of decline.

The Lebanese prime minister resigned days after the deadly explosion and the protestors alleged the government was guilty of negligent handling of the explosives that triggered the blast. Before the fatal blast, nearly 1 million people in the Beirut area could not afford basic living essentials such as food, clothing and shelter. Around and 60% of citizens live below the poverty line due to political corruption and negligence, according to IDC.

Lebanon, a country with a population of around 6.8 million, shares borders with Israel and Syria.

Though it was once a financial capital in the Middle East, recent events, government corruption and the destabilization of its currency are causing international banks to flee as it is in a financial crisis. Foreign lenders such as HSBC and Wells Fargo are removing themselves from Lebanon’s central bank, while Bank of America and Deutsche Bank have reduced activities in Lebanon. The prevalence of Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah makes the country’s banks increasingly risky for international lenders.

Bishop Peter Karam, the patriarchal vicar and titular bishop of Acre of Phoenicia of the Maronites, said part of Lebanon’s financial crisis is due to the amount of corruption in the government. He compared the financial system’s mismanagement as a “Ponzi scheme.”

“We must admit the fact that there is a lot of corruption in Lebanon. A lot of corruption in Lebanon financially, politically, socially. … The collapse of the financial institutions in Lebanon is a very complex issue. …,” Karam said. “The financial sector in Lebanon was a model in the region for a lot of years. The country was known as the Switzerland of the Middle East. But now it’s just nonexistent because of mismanagement, corruption and political interference in the workings of the central bank and the financial sector.”

Ghazal said the whole world would feel the effects of Lebanon’s failure if it collapses.

“The Lebanese people cannot buy food or even the basic life essentials. So make no mistake about it, a total collapse in Lebanon will send economic humanitarian and even national security ripple effects around the region and then across the globe,” Ghazal explained.

Ghazal said the international community must respond to Lebanon’s worsening crisis through a United Nations-led summit to “re-chart its course going into the future” and restore its founding values of egalitarianism, accountability, the rule of law.

“We often hear the phrase, ‘eternal vigilance is the cost of freedom,’ well that’s never been more true than today in the case of Lebanon,” Ghazal said.

The panelists agreed that the international community must respond to Lebanon’s worsening crisis with a non-corrupt, reform-minded government. Stabilizing the currency will be a first step in the right direction, Gabriel, the former U.S. ambassador to Morocco, said. Gabriel recommended a “solid diplomatic effort” and an international conference led by the U.S. and France to provide humanitarian effort and stabilized armed forces.

Robert Nicholson, president of the Philos Project, a Christian advocacy group in the Near East, said the country’s geopolitical importance means its impending downfall would cause a ripple effect of ramifications across Israel, the U.S. and Europe.

“Lebanon is uniquely linked to the West,” Nicholson explained. “It’s part of the Arab world, but it’s just as much a part of the Western world. I sometimes think of Lebanon as kind of a ceasefire zone between these two worlds or civilizations or cultural-religious blocks.” He said Lebanon is on the “seam line between the Christian West and the Islamic [Near] East.”

“We talk a lot about, as Christians, the importance of this country to the [Christian] who live there. But Lebanon is just as important for the Muslims who live there and their co-religionists throughout the region,” Nicholson contended. “What happens in Lebanon affects the Christians, yes, and I am very concerned about that as a Christian. But it also affects many Muslims.”

Amazon reverses ban on book helping parents rescue kids from transgenderism after pushback

With no notification given, Amazon banned a new book aimed at helping parents sever the influences of gender ideology and then reversed its decision in its latest move against voices that scrutinize transgenderism.

The online retail giant blocked the book Desist, Detrans, & Detox: Getting Your Child Out of the Gender Cult by Maria Keffler, the co-founder of the recently-formed Partners for Ethical Care, from being sold on its platform six days after its publication.

The book’s removal comes on the heels of a similar move earlier this year when Amazon scrubbed scholar Ryan Anderson’s book, When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment, which had until recently been allowed on the platform since its initial publication in 2018. Last summer, Amazon also prohibited the publisher of Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters by journalist Abigail Shrier from purchasing ads to promote the book.

Keffler told The Christian Post in a phone interview on Wednesday that she wasn’t surprised Amazon blocked her book, though she had hoped it would last longer than six days.

“We fully expected it to happen. We knew it was going to. We decided to launch it on multiple platforms because we expected it to be canceled. And so that’s why we also put it on Smashwords as well as Lulu, a print platform,” Keffler said.

Shortly after CP’s interview with Keffler Wednesday, the author said that the online retailer sent her an email, which she shared with CP, explaining that the scrubbing of the book was an “error.” The Kindle version went live and the paperback version should be reactivated soon. Amazon had previously told her that the book had violated their terms of service, which she challenged.  In a subsequent email to CP, Keffler said it was possible that “a calling and emailing onslaught may have affected the outcome” as “lots and lots of people were contacting Amazon to complain.”

Keffler believes that Big Tech and large corporations are intent on silencing critical voices of transgender ideology because there is big money in the “gender industry,” referencing The 11th Hour Blog, a website where the revenue streams fueling transgender ideology worldwide have been traced and documented.

Fifteen years ago, the trend in young adult literature was vampire and werewolves, she explained, noting that she was glad to see that trend come to an end. Yet today, the dominant genre is transgender literature.

“There are hundreds of these trans books out there and there’s a lot of money in it … this is a huge money-maker for the medical industry. I think there’s a lot of unconscionable profiteering going on.”

Keffler’s organization, Partners for Ethical Care, has received an uptick in traffic in recent weeks as increasing numbers of parents have reached out for help because their children have been harmed by the medicalization of gender, such as the use of cross-sex hormones in teenagers in pursuit of appearing as the opposite sex.

“We talk to new parents all the time and several support groups for parents on social media, and there’s just more and more of an influx of them coming in. It’s heartbreaking. Honestly, I’ve felt this way about the book for almost a week now, and every time someone buys it my heart hurts a little bit because I know that this is another family that’s been impacted by this,” she lamented.

“I think a critical mass is growing and people are going to realize that this isn’t just a trend with bad families or people who don’t parent well or some weird sub-set. This is actively being strategically put in our schools and on social media.”

Parents who are reaching out are politically diverse, conservative and liberal alike, she noted.

“[Gender ideology] is non-discriminatory across the spectrum with people whose kids are getting sucked into this,” Keffler said.

Trafficking survivors detail Pornhub’s ‘criminal’ practices at congressional briefing

Advocates and survivors speak during a virtual congressional briefing on Pornhub hosted by the National Center on Sexual Exploitation on April 8, 2021. | YouTube/National Center on Sexual Exploitation

A coalition of advocates and sex trafficking survivors have detailed to U.S. Congress the myriad ways one of the world’s largest pornography sites has concealed the sexual abuse of children for over a decade and has “built an empire” off criminal copyright violations.

Lawyer: Pornhub ‘built its empire on criminal copyright violations’

In a congressional briefing that took place last Thursday hosted by the National Center on Sexual Exploitation, the advocates continued scrutiny that Pornhub has come under in recent months as it has already faced questioning from lawmakers in Canada. MindGeek, the parent company of Pornhub and other popular porn websites, has faced mounting accusations that its companies have hosted child sex abuse videos and other non-consensually recorded content, including videos of rape and sex trafficking.

“MindGeek’s empire of exploitation is built on the monetization of sexual abuse and exploitation of children,” said sex trafficking survivor Brook Bello of the Sarasota, Florida-based More Too Life. She called for it and Pornhub to be shut down.

The heightened pressure on Pornhub has intensified since early 2020 as more survivors have come forward with their stories of exploitation, and a petition was launched that garnered over 2.2 million signatures calling for the website to be shut down because of its links to trafficking. The petition came as The New York Times published an article by columnist Nicholas Kristof titled “The Children of Pornhub” in December.

A Pornhub survivor named Serena, whom Kristof interviewed for his article, shared Thursday that the man who exploited her also uploaded a video of her to Pornhub. And when she contacted the website pretending to be her mother to demand the company take the video down since she was only 14, Pornhub took weeks to respond. The video was taken down only to reappear there days later, Serena detailed.

“I’d have to do this over and over and over again,” she said, noting that she would tell the company that the videos were during a dark time in her life, and she was a minor when it was filmed. She explained how Pornhub made her go through many steps to prove her identity and said the company made her send photos of herself with an ID card next to her face. She said the video set her on a destructive path of dropping out of school, drug use and becoming homeless. She wound up with an older guy who convinced her that since she already had an online presence, there was nothing wrong with making money in the same way.

“It wasn’t something that a 14-year-old should have had to deal with, let alone continue to deal with all the way up until I’m 20 now. And just after the [Kristof] article, that’s when Pornhub started deleting all of their videos. And I haven’t seen a video of myself up there again,” she said.

Offering a legal perspective, Serena’s attorney, Michael Bowe, shared during the briefing that her story is indicative of what has happened to thousands upon thousands of women. In the span of just one year of investigation, the attorney has spoken to and investigated over 100 stories that sound very similar to Serena’s plight, he said.

And the impact … doesn’t end with the assault or the posting [of videos on the site]. It takes life away from women, and it derails their life,” Bowe told congressional staffers, emphasizing that lawmakers need to understand that the porn industry is not occupied by responsible corporate actors.

“This is not Apple. This is not IBM. It’s not Microsoft. This is an industry which, for various reasons, grew up in illegality. The most obvious and mundane illegality is that the entire industry, this online porn industry, particularly Pornhub and MindGeek, the mack daddy of them all, built its empire on criminal copyright violations.”

“They basically stole millions and millions of legitimate adult entertainment videos, put them up there, all of which was criminal,” he added. “And they made a fortune, between $500 million and $1 billion a year.”

The companies knew that child sexual abuse content, trafficking and rape videos were on the sites and they did not care, he said. The attorney argued that their carelessness reflects the entire industry that is inherently rogue and can’t be trusted to self-police.

Current federal legislation on the books in the U.S. is dated and from the pre-internet era, Bowe added. He asserted that Pornhub and MindGeek do not believe that existing laws apply to them.

“What needs to happen is the statutes need to be updated so that there is no loophole and no ambiguity. … There needs to be a clear obligation that they ensure that the content that’s on their site is consensual and of age,” he stressed.

Laila Mickelwait of the group Exodus Cry, who launched the petition to shut down Pornhub last year, highlighted six areas of criminal content on the website: sex trafficking, child sex abuse material, rape, incapacitated sexual assault, “revenge porn” and hidden-camera/spycam abuse.

“Videos on Pornhub have obvious indicators of illegality, of criminal sexual abuse,” Mickelwait explained, noting that some videos contain tags such as “middle schooler” and “young teen.”

Content moderators who have come forward said that Pornhub could flag illegal content and disturbing comments. But what the site did instead was hide and censor the troubling signs, Mickelwait said.

“They have spent over a decade concealing the sexual abuse of children on their site, making zero reports to relevant authorities and child protection agencies,” she added.

Since December, five lawsuits have been filed against Pornhub on behalf of trafficked women and minors, while calls for criminal investigations have occurred in both the U.S. and Canada.

“The evidence of crime is overwhelming,” Mickelwait said at the close of the briefing.

She stressed that three things need to happen: a formal government hearing in the U.S. as Canada has done, the passing of preventative laws to respond in a regulatory fashion to the evasive porn industry and a criminal investigation and prosecution by the Department of Justice of MindGeek and Pornhub.

“A slap on the wrist for MindGeek is a slap in the face for the countless survivors who have had their lives completely destroyed by this predatory company,” Mickelwait concluded.

Terry Forliti of Breaking Free in Minnesota, also a survivor, emphasized that extensive movement occurs between several fronts of the commercial sex trade. Women are recruited into pornography from stripping or prostitution, trafficking victims are videotaped and the material is posted on pornography sites that they have no control over. People who are recruited into adult films are then pressured to escort, she explained.

“The commercial sex trade tries to create false borders between the legal industries like stripping and illegal crimes like sex trafficking,” Forliti said. “These lines are more blurred and coercion is deeply embedded in all forms of the sex trade.”

She continued: “the physical and psychological harms of being exploited on a platform such as PornHub is similar whether you’ve been in the life, or you were passed out and somebody uploads a video of your sexual abuse.”

“In both cases, you lose control of intimate images, and it’s a massive violation of your privacy,” Forliti said. “And this has a long-term impact on your sense of security, ability to form long-term relationships and can lead to other addictions and coping mechanisms.”

Online sexual abuse is becoming increasingly common, she believes, because there is no legal check on such abuse.

Author and researcher Christine Stark was trafficked as a child in the 1970s and 1980s in an organized sex trafficking and porn ring. Because victims have no control over the use of the images that are widely distributed, they have no closure from the abuse they endured.

“I’ve lived my entire life dealing with the harms of being tortured and also knowing that those images are being used over and over and over again,” Stark stated. “It’s like being used all the time for the rest of your life, psychologically, knowing that that is going on.”

Mike Pence launches new conservative organization to advance Trump-era policies

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence speaks about Operation Warp Speed with U.S. President Donald Trump in the Rose Garden at the White House on November 13, 2020, in Washington, D.C. | U.S. Vice President Mike Pence

Former Vice President Mike Pence has created a conservative advocacy group to advance policies that were championed during the Trump administration.

Known as Advancing American Freedom, the launch of the conservative policy group was announced last week, with Pence explaining in a statement that its goal is to “build on the success of the last four years by promoting traditional Conservative values and promoting the successful policies of the Trump Administration.”

“Conservatives will not stand idly by as the radical Left and the new administration attempt to threaten America’s standing as the greatest Nation in the world with their destructive policies,” stated Pence in the announcement.

Advancing American Freedom will engage in policy discussions and issue advocacy at both the state and federal level by proposing conservative policy solutions. Among many policy focuses, the group will try to “stop taxpayer dollars from funding abortions domestically and globally” and “defend religious liberty, including the conscience rights of doctors, nurses, teachers, and religious charities.”

The announcement also listed the Advancing American Freedom Advisory Board members, which comprises several leading conservative activists and public figures. Advisory board members include former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, Texas megachurch Pastor Robert Jeffress, former Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, former Heritage Foundation President Kay James, former U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint, and Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser, among others.

In an interview with The Christian Post, Dannenfelser, who heads one of the nation’s leading grassroots pro-life organizations, explained that she has known Pence and his team for many years and has worked alongside them to advance pro-life policy efforts.

“I’ve known Mike Pence and his team for many, many, many years. So, I think it’s a natural extension of our friendship and our partnership and the fact that I really believe in him,” said Dannenfelser. “He invited me to be on the advisory board, and I said yes.”

Dannenfelser spoke positively of Pence, saying he “makes this organization what it is” and has a strong “adherence to principle” and “ability to lead” in what she called a “moment” for the pro-life movement. She told CP that she believes Pence can be an important factor for helping to support pro-life legislation, especially at the state level, and aid in having Republicans take back the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022.

“This is a larger moment for the pro-life movement. And for him to lead at this moment is particularly important, and it is a watershed because of the complete transformation of the federal judiciary,” she continued.

“All of those [state-level pro-life] bills will require articulation, they require advocacy, and then the people who are the governors, who are signing those bills, the legislators that are advancing those bills, the people running for Congress later need an advocate that has a high profile, [an] articulate advocate like Mike Pence.”

Although Pence wants to build upon the Trump administration’s policies, former President Donald Trump recently criticized his vice president at a fundraiser event in Florida. At the invitation-only speech held Saturday at his Mar-a-Lago resort, Trump reportedly told Republican donors that he was disappointedin Pence. Trump also attacked U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.

Amid rioting and looting after an officer-involved shooting near Minneapolis, Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan has demanded an end to the police.

On Sunday, a Brooklyn Center police officer shot and killed Daunte Wright. The killing of Wright, a 20-year-old black man, by a white police officer triggered looting and rioting in the Minneapolis suburb. Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon said the officer who shot Wright appeared to have mistaken their service weapon for their Taser and accidentally fired the gun, according to the Star-Tribune.

As officials called for calm, Tlaib used her Twitter account to call for the abolition of all forms of law and order.

“It wasn’t an accident. Policing in our country is inherently & intentionally racist,” she tweeted. “Daunte Wright was met with aggression & violence. I am done with those who condone government funded murder. No more policing, incarceration, and militarization. It can’t be reformed.
