The Mueller Report is out and for most Americans—the ones not addicted to 24-Hour round the clock panel discussions and continuous (albeit pointless) coverage of every nuance inside of Washington, it’s over and it failed to show President Donald Trump or anyone in his orbit had anything to do with Russian interference in the 2016 Election.

No matter how hard the Democrats try to pump life into the Mueller Report and try desperately to make it something it’s not, America has moved on. People have a lot of things on their minds but Russia isn’t one of them.
Here are what people in Michigan and The Rust Belt do care about today.
The Economy and economic opportunity — Democrats I talk with find themselves in the awkward position of grudgingly praising the President and his success in this area. The vibrant economy is noticed by tens of millions of people all across the nation and no matter how loudly the left proclaims the Middle Class is disappearing, most people are smart enough to see that just isn’t true. Anyone who goes out for dinner on a Friday night or a Tuesday night for that matter is going to find full parking lots and a waiting list at any place decent. The parking lots are also full at Kroger, Home Depot and Starbucks. That doesn’t even take into account how many times the mailman and the lady from Fed-Ex are stopping each day to drop things off at their homes. And if things were so bad in America why are millions of people fighting to stay here while millions more are fighting to get in? The truth is things are pretty damned good and everybody knows it.
Wages are increasing because of the simple basic idea of supply and demand—there is a growing demand for good employees in numerous places creating a jump in paychecks. How many jobs are sitting open today because there just isn’t anyone to fill the slot? Millions is the answer and because of that employers are being forced to dig deeper or go without. Wages do not need to be dictated by the government when the market is dictating an upward trend.
Abortion on demand matters. Elective abortion on demand is being rejected by Catholics in large numbers and by people of faith in general. Even Democrats who identify as pro-choice recoil at the idea of aborting full-term babies or worse, deciding the fate of a child born alive after the fact. This kind of open barbarism and butchery really isn’t appealing to anyone I’ve met and may, in fact, be the biggest issue in 2020.It is not widely discussed in the echo-chamber media but it should be because it is being discussed at dinner tables and water coolers in the heart of the nation. It is turning people away from the Democrats by the score. Trust me on this and then watch the exit polling in 18 months to see what I was talking about.
Anti- Semitism is forcing a re-alignment of the Jewish vote in the Rust Belt and elsewhere. Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar do not go unnoticed here and their words are doing real damage to the Dems. Anti-Semitism and more accurately anti-American comments are taking a serious toll on the left whether they care to admit it or not. If they want to stop this hemorrhaging they must stop tip-toeing around the issue and tackle it head-on.
The push for Socialism on the left matters because it is so dangerous. It is soundly rejected everywhere except in big cities and college campuses. If you leave the Diag at the University of Michigan you won’t find much praise for such ideas—at least not in Michigan. I would guess the same holds true for Madison and Columbus. The far-left workers Xanadu only exists in their fanciful minds because in practice it fails at a cost of millions of lives every time. People living in this country know it takes hard work to get ahead. If you are willing to work you can do anything in America and everyone knows that is still true.
The 2nd Amendment matters and a lot in Union Households and blue-collar workers are seeing calls by Dems for gun bans and gun confiscation. They don’t like it, they won’t support it and in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin millions will flock to the polls just to vote against it. I said in 2016 and say again today, the hunting and fishing crowd is key to victory for Donald Trump. The more that group is alienated by the left with copious talk of gun control the better it is for The President.
The Border matters to people here. They can see what chaos looks like and they know what a crisis looks like. They are not idiots. Many will support an influx of new immigrants—millions in fact but only if they follow the rules to get here. They do not support open borders, or sanctuary cities or amnesty for those who broke the law without regard. They want law and order and, as an aside, they support the border patrol and ICE.
Impeachment matters because Democrats know that if another two years is wasted in this effort, they will suffer for it. The things they want to see happen and what Americans want will never get done instead the opportunity will be squandered. Democrats will be punished at the polls in 2020 if they are unable to admit they were wrong, Donald Trump was not a master spy for Vladimir Putin nor was anyone else and the nation is ready to move on.
Moving forward matters most because people on all sides are worn out by all of the talk of Russia. They know it was not a factor in why Trump beat Hillary and they are sick and tired of hearing about it — it really is time to move on. The new House in more than 100 days in office has done what? What has been put forward to address jobs? Healthcare? The border? Infrastructure? Anything? Swing districts will be the whole show again in 2020 and right now Nancy should be worried because the voters in those districts are not impressed with what they are seeing — and not one is thinking, “if only Hillary Clinton were President it would all be great!”

Perhaps just as impactful as illegal migration across our nation’s porous southern border is the manner in which some of those illegal aliens proceed to game the system. Once across the border, some illegal immigrants take advantage of taxpayer-funded government benefits that are intended solely for American citizens. Accordingly — and in line with President Donald Trump’s “America First” policy — some government departments and agencies are looking closely for ways in which they can change certain rules or close various loopholes to stop this exploitation.
The Daily Caller reported exclusively that the Department of Housing and Urban Development, led by Secretary Ben Carson, is one of those departments aiming to prevent ineligible illegal aliens from further taking advantage of benefits designed for citizens and certain classes of eligible non-citizens.
According to Section 214 of the Housing and Community Development Act, first passed into law in 1980, most non-citizens were prohibited from applying for and obtaining federal financial housing assistance. By virtue of “mixed family”households that include both citizens or eligible non-citizens as well as ineligible illegal aliens, the prohibition has been skirted by some. Consequently, there are illegal aliens that inappropriately receive federal housing subsidies.
The HUD department is expected to produce a proposal in the near future which would crack down on that particular loophole. Such a proposal would make sure that anyone who is not eligible to receive federal benefits cannot even live in households that do receive those benefits— even if that individual is not the direct recipient.
This proposal would reportedly bring ineligible illegal aliens’ exploitation of benefits to an end by forcing all households receiving such benefits — particularly those households where illegal aliens reside — to either comply with the new rule or vacate the subsidized housing unit entirely.
HUD will use what is called the SAVE program — Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements— to screen all subsidy-receiving households for compliance. In other words, every household that receives benefits will have to prove that each family member residing in the household is either a U.S. citizen or a legal non-citizen who falls into one of the various categories of eligibility. Should any of the benefit-receiving households be found to not be in compliance, and one or more family members do not qualify as eligible, then there is an appeals process that can be pursued.
Ultimately, however, federal assistance will cease if the non-compliance is not rectified.
This new proposal would seem to be 100 percent in line with the Trump administration’s “America First”policy.
It is worth noting that, according to HUD statistics, there are estimated to be millions of eligible American citizens who are currently stuck on waiting lists for housing subsidies simply because there are not enough resources available to the department to process and provide benefits to all who are eligible. In other words, already limited resources for deserving citizens have been stretched even thinner by illegal aliens and their enablers who have figured out how to game the system — leaving some citizens out in the cold.
That particular sentiment was ironically posited by liberal actress/singer Cher in a recent tweet — and subsequently retweeted by President Trump in hilarious fashion — after Trump had suggested sending all detained illegal migrants to live in sanctuary cities. Trump’s suggestion sparked a hypocritical “not in my backyard”response from many Democrats.
“This proposal gets to the whole point Cher was making in her tweet that the President retweeted. We’ve got our own people to house and we need to take care of our citizens,” an unnamed Trump administration official told The Daily Caller.
“Because of past loopholes in HUD guidance, illegal aliens were able to live in free public housing desperately needed by so many of our own citizens. As illegal aliens attempt to swarm our borders, we’re sending the message that you can’t live off of American welfare on the taxpayers’ dime,” the official added.
As Cher aptly noted in her tweet, there’s an overwhelming number of American citizens in dire need of assistance, some of whom are left wanting as limited resources are taken by illegal aliens that don’t deserve them. Cracking down on the exploitation of federal benefits by illegal aliens will help go a long way toward being able to adequately provide for our own citizens in need.

President Donald Trump didn’t waste much time expressing his thoughts about Attorney General William Barr’s news conference Thursday morning. Moments after Barr asserted the Mueller report concluded that Trump’s campaign didn’t collude with Russia and that no evidence of obstruction was established, the president posted on social media. True to form, the image Trump tweeted was commensurate with trolling the opposition, with an assist from HBO’s series “Game of Thrones.”
Game on, indeed. Not unlike Pavlov’s dogs, Trump critics — including overzealous Hill editor Brian Krassenstein — were swiftly triggered and reacted in kind, with a side of profanity.
Democrats and other NeverTrumpers will follow suit — via social media or before the cameras — with their predictable litany of liberal platitudes. Never mind that, as Barr emphasized Thursday, the president didn’t invoke “executive privilege” over the Mueller report.
Such assessments evidently aren’t good enough for those in denial on the left, chiefly Rep. Adam Schiff who continues to perpetuate the desperate myth that there’s “incriminating evidence” against Trump. Forget the fact that listening to Schiff ramble on is akin to reviewing brake fluid.
Countless Democrats will strive to emasculate the commander in chief, despite little or no proof of any wrongdoing related to his 2016 campaign.
Another certainty is that shameless members of the mainstream media will blur the lines between reporting and coloring. That’s a given, even though Barr assured reporters that a version of Mueller’s report with few redactions will soon be made available to a bipartisan group.
Onward we go, with the left’s high-octane accusations peppered with whining. Cue the drama queens, stage left.

Should Joe Biden drop out of the Presidential race because of his inappropriate touching of women?
It’s a strange case out of a small Alaska town that’s attracted national attention — all because of what it says regarding school bathrooms and transgender access.
According to The Washington Post, a female student was expelled from North Pole High School in North Pole, Alaska, after she kneed one of several boys who had entered the girls’ room in an incident on April 4. The male students had allegedly entered the bathroom, The Post reports, as a protest against a transgender student transitioning from female to male who had taken a selfie in the boys’ room.
Fairbanks North Star Borough School District Superintendent Karen Gaborik said the boys had entered the bathroom “as a form of protest.” When the seven boys entered, however, the protest was swiftly ended when one of the girls kneed one of the boys in the groin. Now, her family says she’s been expelled.
The case went national when state Rep. Tammie Wilson, a Republican who hails from North Pole, commented on it during a House Majority news conference on Friday.
“We had an incident last week to where some boys entered the girls’ bathroom, and a girl kneed a boy, feeling threatened. They were blocking her way. And she was suspended from school because she used too much force,”Wilson said, according to KTUU-TV.
Wilson said that the girl had been prevented from leaving the bathroom by the boys and had defended herself.
“If you ever feel threatened, for your safety, whatever force you think you have to go give, I will stand by you and so will your community, and not for those boys who were where they didn’t belong,”Wilson said.
The representative told the station the girl was suspended and missed her prom — the boys were allowed to attend, she said. But the student’s sister took to Twitter to say the girl had actually been expelled. The school wouldn’t confirm what happened to the female student, merely stating that the boys had also been disciplined for “attempting to enter the girls’ bathroom.”
“Gaborik said that in her Fairbanks-area school district, which is geographically ‘larger than the state of Connecticut,’ transgender students can choose to use a gender-neutral, single-stall bathroom that corresponds with the student’s gender identity, or the one that corresponds with the student’s gender at birth,”Meagan Flynn reported in The Post on Monday.
“The decisions are made on an individual basis for each student based on whatever is most comfortable, she said. At North Pole High School, about 16 transgender students have attended the school in the last three years, she said.”
She told The Post that students are encouraged to seek out school staff when they feel threatened, not to act out themselves.
“We do not advocate physical or psychological violence as a means to attain safety,” Gaborik said.
“The entire school community needs to work together to ensure that all students feel welcomed, safe and are able to learn and thrive. We recognize that parents, students and members of our community feel strongly about these issues, but advocating for the use of violence does not contribute to a safe learning environment.”
As for the threat, Gaborik told The Post that an investigation by school administrators found that there was “not evidence that the boys were threatening any student or using any type of force toward students.”
Leaving aside the initial question of the transgender student taking a selfie or the reaction of the boys to it, exactly what wouldn’t make seven males in the girls’ room threatening to the girls inside? Yet the school apparently wants us to pretend nothing threatening happened and that this girl’s reaction was somehow worthy of an expulsion.
“She did the right thing, and we should be backing her, not having her sitting at home wondering whether she made the right decision or not,”Wilson told KTUU.
In another interview with the Fairbanks News-Miner, Wilson framed the question as self-defense.
“Was she supposed to not protect herself?”she said. “She was where she belonged. They were not.”
Meanwhile, Gaborik told The Post that all students disciplined in the situation have the right to appeal any measures taken in the incident. The girl’s family says that they will — and we can only hope that sanity prevails.
Cher was a big supporter of sanctuary cities and illegal immigration until the idea of locating those immigrants in her own town became a real possibility.

A federal judge is allowing a lawsuit against transgender facilities in a school district to proceed, but warned the student-plaintiffs that, if the government allows boys who claim to be female to use the girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms, then the girls have no right to “visual bodily privacy.”
Judge Jorge Alonso of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois Eastern Division is allowing a lawsuit to proceed against the school district that adopted the Obama-era transgender policy permitting boys claiming to be female to use the girls’ bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms.
However, the judge informed the girls, represented by Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), that, “[s]o far, the right not to be seen unclothed by the opposite sex is not on the Supreme Court’s list.”
The crux of this suit is that defendants seek to affirm the claimed genders of students by allowing male students who claim female gender to use privacy facilities (i.e., bathrooms and locker rooms) designated for use by the female sex and female students who claim male gender to use privacy facilities designated for the male sex … District 211 adopted the policy solely to affirm the claimed genders of those students claiming a gender different from their sex at birth.
Alonso continued, saying the school district has adopted the policy of allowing all transgender students to use the restrooms, locker rooms, and showers of their choice, while it insists all other students “must use the restrooms and locker rooms designated for their sex.”
“Before adopting the policy, District 211 did not investigate the reliability of the science underlying gender-affirmation treatments,” the judge wrote. “Nor did it make any effort to understand the impacts such a policy would have on students exposed to opposite-sex, same-gendered students in locker rooms and restrooms.”
The judge acknowledged the school district’s enforcement of the transgender policy has caused the students “embarrassment, humiliation, anxiety, fear, apprehension, stress, degradation and loss of dignity.”
The students “are at continual risk of encountering (and sometimes do encounter), without their consent, members of the opposite sex while disrobing, showering, urinating, defecating and while changing tampons and feminine napkins,” he added.
Christiana Holcomb, ADF legal counsel, said, “a compassionate approach to protecting students’ privacy” is needed.
“We welcome the court’s decision to allow key claims to move forward,” she added in a statement. “The district officially authorizes opposite-sex use of school privacy facilities, and that violates Title IX. Letting boys into girls’ showers, restrooms, and locker rooms is sexual harassment. Students should be confident that their school will protect their privacy and dignity. So far, this school district has failed to do so.”
Alonso did not allow all the claims of the plaintiffs to move forward. He threw out the students’ argument made in the case that they have the right to “bodily privacy,” saying that right refers to physically being touched by others, “not visual bodily privacy.”
Additionally, the judge dismissed the students’ claim that parents’ right to direct their children’s education applies in this case. Alonso said that right refers only to parents’ choice of type of education or schooling.
As Breitbart News reported in 2016, the district opened its schools’ bathrooms to boys claiming to be female without informing parents. Later, it allowed a boy claiming to be transgender into the girls’ locker room after the Obama administration’s Department of Education threatened the district’s federal funding in the amount of $6 million. Initially, the school district arranged for a private dressing area in the girls’ locker room for the boy, but federal officials complained the arrangement stigmatized the student. Consequently, the district allowed the boy to use the girls’ locker room openly as if he were a biological girl.
The Trump administration has rescinded the Obama administration’s policy and restored Title IX to the understanding that “sex” means biological sex – male or female – rather than perceptions or beliefs about one’s gender.
Since Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election, former President Barack Obama admitted his unpopular transgender policy helped to defeat Trump’s rival, Hillary Clinton.
As the College Fixreported, Tom Petersen, director of community relations for the school district, said, “The District will continue to defend our practices that affirm and support the identity of all our students.”
In a “backgrounder” on the case, ADF wrote, “If our government is powerful enough to command innocent school children to disrobe in the presence of opposite-sex classmates, then there will be little it will not be powerful enough to do.”
“The restroom policy and locker room agreement thus threaten our very liberty to live our lives in accordance with the most basic expectations of common decency, dignity, and privacy in our bodies,” the law firm added.

In a development that can’t be heartening to the millions of America’s faithful, new survey data shows the percentage of Americans who profess no religious belief is actually higher those who are part of the country’s largest faith traditions. The trends might not be looking good right now, but there’s a reason to hope.
According to the General Social Survey, which has been tracking American social trends since 1972, Americans who claim no religion — or “nones” — now outnumber Roman Catholics and evangelicals.
“’Nones’ have been on the march for a long time now,”Ryan P. Burge, a professor at Eastern Illinois University, told the National Catholic Reporter.
“It’s been a constant, steady increase for 20 years now. If the trend line kept up, we knew this was going to happen.”
According to the NCR, the percentage of American “nones” is now 23.1, up from 21.6 percent in 2016. That’s only slightly ahead of Catholics, at 23 percent, and evangelicals, which were 22.5, down from 23.9 percent in 2016. The percentage is so small, considering the millions of individuals involved, it’s probably statistically insignificant. The NCR calls the results “statistically tied.”
But there’s no denying it represents a change in American life — and the kind that could have a direct result on the country’s politics.
NCR cited exit polls from the 2016 elections that white evangelicals made up 26 percent of the voters even if their share of the voting population wasn’t that large.
“Evangelicals punch way above their weight,”Burge said told NCR. “They turn out a bunch at the ballot box. That’s largely a function of the fact that they’re white and they’re old.”
That’s one way to put it. One could also look at it like they’re patriotic, committed, intelligent and aware that — as Americans — they’re part of the rich history of a nation that’s truly exceptional in world history. In other words, they’re pretty much the opposite of the millennial America that is embodied by progressives like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow Democrat freshmen representatives.
So let’s just stipulate that a future where the American electorate is made up of a lot fewer people like the voters who pushed Donald Trump over the top early on Nov. 9, 2016, and a lot more fans of AOC is likely to be a trying one for the country overall. But this has been coming for a long time. The General Social Survey numbers are almost to be expected if several factors are taken into account.
First and foremost, public schools have for decades been in the hands of an education establishment and leftist teachers unions that scorn traditional morality.
Secondly, our nation is saturated with an entertainment culture that celebrates individual narcissism and immorality while mocking virtually every expression of religious belief.
Finally, America’s political culture is such that one of its two major political parties has been virtually a religion-free zone.
Combine these factors with the lawfare practiced by the likes of the ACLU and the cranky atheists of the Freedom from Religion Foundation — which target even the most innocent endearing expressions of religious faith in public life – and it’s a wonder that numbers like this didn’t show up ages ago.
And as Michael Knowles pointed out at The Daily Wire, it’s probably no coincidence that the country is experiencing a level of social ills that it hasn’t seen before.
“As religiosity has declined, social ills have abounded. Nearly one in five American adults suffers from anxiety disorders, which now constitute the most common mental illness in the country,” Knowles wrote.
“One in six Americans takes antidepressant drugs, a 65% surge over just 15 years. The problem is particularly acute among younger Americans. While depression diagnoses have increased 33% since 2013, that number is up 47% among Millennials and 63% among teenagers. Coincidentally, suicide rates among American teenagers have increased by 70% since 2006. American life expectancy declined again last year, as Americans continue to drug and kill themselves at record rates.”
Does anyone think it’s just a coincidence that that happens when religious faith is failing? (And does anyone think it’s a coincidence that all of this happening less than 60 years after the Supreme Court ruled that prayer in public schools was unconstitutional. Three generations of Americans have grown up in the world that helped create.) Now, no one can believe the members of the American Civil Liberties Union wake up in the morning wondering how they can contribute to more American suicides than they did yesterday. And no one thinks the Freedom from Religion wackos in Wisconsin are consciously setting out to increase the mental and spiritual health of their fellow citizens. (Though at Christmas time, it can be hard to tell.) And one might even be able to give the benefit of the doubt to the American education establishment (though Hollywood and the teachers unions will never deserve it).
But even the most willfully obtuse, deliberately blind individual member of the cultural elite has to see the wreckage that’s being strewn across society by the large-scale abandonment of faith. And that might be a reason for hope.
The numbers might not be looking good at the moment, but it’s the job of conservatives to try to turn that trend around. The election of President Donald Trump was a start in that process — and the developments it made possible, like the gradual return of sanity to the United States court system, will help.
But this is the long fight — the longest fight there is — and conservatives have to be willing to get into it. If they are in the fight — heart and soul — a setback or two in the numbers of the faithful are largely irrelevant in the long run. Conservatives have taken on long odds before and won — the news out of the White House every day proves it. They can do it again.

Donald Trump, Jr. took Facebook to task in a recent article, and the censorship may be worse than even he thought
Legal Insurrection readers are acutely aware of the deplatforming and silencing of conservative voices across social media and via outlets like Amazon.
The latest victim to get slammed by the iron-hand of Big Tech is President Trump’s chief social media guru, Dan Scavino. Facebook blocked his account for simply responding to a question from a reader.
Scavino is responsible for several of the president’s and White House’s social media accounts. He has been with the president for years.
His accounts have a tremendous following, so a block on Facebook has a big reach. Already there are over 750 comments on his page, including:
“Cory Critser Dan Scavino Daniel Scavino Jr. … I think it’s time for some Senate hearings with Facebook on there attempts to influence the election.”
On a smaller scale, my personal website (Temple of Mut) was temporarily blocked from being linked in Facebook. The reason I was given: The website did not meet community standards.
True . . . if your community consists merely of climate-change cultists and gender justice warriors. However, Facebook is supposed to be playing by the rules of a platform and not a publisher, so my science-based and news-focused content should be acceptable under any reasonable standard.
Additionally, the Canto Talk Show program that I help host on occasion was also hit with a Facebook ban. Silvio Canto, the mild-mannered, thoughtful host and author of historic, sports, and political analysis was deeply troubled when his show promotion posts were deemed “inappropriate.”

Barry Jacobson, a former Green Beret who fought to defend the Constitution (including his First Amendment rights), was also impacted by Facebook censorship. The social media giant recently stopped the promotion of his military history podcasts.
That Facebook deems discussion of WW-2 “in violation of community standards” is not only astonishing; it begs the question, what standard are they upholding? Ignorance? Put another way, is the banning of all discussion of the horrors caused by the Nazis somehow going to further the cause (which I assume Facebook supports) of hindering the spread of Nazi ideology?
I suspect that Facebook has tweaked its algorithms in such a way that anything even mildly conservative is now flagged. Donald Trump, Jr. recently published a detailed piece decrying Big Tech’s censorship of conservatives, which has steadily become more flagrant and overt.
Facebook appears to have deliberately tailored its algorithm to recognize the syntax and style popular among conservatives in order to “deboost” that content. “Mainstream media,” “SJW” (Social Justice Warrior) and “red pill” — all terms that conservatives often use to express themselves — were listed as red flags, according to the former Facebook insider.
Facebook engineers even cited BlazeTV host Lauren Chen’s video criticizing the social justice movement as an example of the kind of “red pills” that users just aren’t allowed to drop anymore. Mainstream conservative content was strangled in real time, yet fringe leftists such as the Young Turks enjoy free rein on the social media platform.
I would argue that the situation is even worse than the president’s son has stated if history-based blogs are now being silenced.

Ever since the release of Attorney General William Barr’s synopsis of the Mueller report, Rep. Devin Nunes — the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee — has been talking about criminal referrals for acts committed during the 2016 presidential campaign and its aftermath.
Now, the California congressman is making it clear just how many people he’s going after — and former FBI Director James Comey is just one of those who has a reason to sweat.
In an appearance on Fox News on Sunday, Nunes said he’d sent eight criminal referrals to Barr, the latest sign that high-level Republicans were going on the offensive in the wake of the Mueller report. Nunes told Fox News he’d been working on the referrals for over two years. However, he had delayed sending them over until Barr’s confirmation. (The Mueller report, one imagines, didn’t hurt his case either.)
“We’re prepared this week to notify the attorney general that we’re prepared to send those referrals over,”Nunes told host Maria Bartiromo. “First of all, all of these are classified or sensitive. … Five of them are what I would call straight up referrals — so, just referrals that name someone and name the specific crimes.
“Those crimes are lying to Congress, misleading Congress, leaking classified information. So five of them are those types.”
“There are three (referrals) that I think are more complicated,” he added.
They involve material investigators presented to the special court established by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
“So, on the first one, is FISA abuse and other matters. We believe there was a conspiracy to lie to the FISA court, mislead the FISA court by numerous individuals that all need to be investigated and looked at that, and we believe the (relevant) statute is the conspiracy statute,” he said.
That likely referred to the use of the “Trump dossier” — assembled as opposition research funded by the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee — to obtain a warrant in a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court against a Trump campaign official.
Nunes later said that “we’ve had a lot of concerns with the way intelligence was used” in the probe into the Trump campaign and possible collusion with the Russians.
“The second conspiracy one is involving manipulation of intelligence that also could ensnarl many Americans,” he continued.
“The third is what I would call a global leak referral,”Nunes said. “So, there are about a dozen highly sensitive classified information leaks that were given to only a few reporters over the last two-and-a-half-plus years. So, you know, we don’t know if there’s actually been any leak investigations that have been opened, but we do believe that we’ve got pretty good information and a pretty good idea of who could be behind these leaks.”
The “horrific” leaks Nunes referred to involved Trump’s conversations with major world leaders as well as the transcripts of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn’s phone calls.
“I think it’s impossible to ignore,” Nunes said. “If the Mueller team was busting people for lying to the FBI — there are some pretty simple times when people lied to Congress for the sole purpose of obstructing our investigation.”
The criminal referrals also might involve more than one person. In fact, Nunes said that a conspiracy referral could ensnare “a dozen, two dozen people.”
There are a few individuals we can possibly guess will be among those referred. Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen is being investigated for lying to Congress by both sides after inconsistencies in his testimony last month arose. And then there’s House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff, a California Democrat, who was suspected by Donald Trump Jr. when it came to leaking his closed-door testimony before the committee.
Fox News reported that in January, Trump Jr. said “there’s a 99.9 percent chance (House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff is) the guy” who leaked the 2017 testimony, adding that he “came out of testimony 8 at night and CNN is running quotes from noon on about my testimony, you know, in the House Intelligence Committee.”
“I mean, that has to say something about what is going on and who they are. Since (Schiff has) never met a camera he didn’t love, I would bet a lot of money that it was him.”
The FISA warrant, however, might be of more concern to Democrats, particularly when it comes to Comey. Even if the criminal referrals don’t include him, they’re bound to include those close to him — and that’s something that’s probably going to make him sweat. Others who have reason to sweat? Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. They all signed FISA warrant applications.
The Republicans have increasingly gone on the offensive since the release of the Mueller report. Nunes’ criminal referrals aren’t even the most aggressive move — that award, thus far, has to go to Sen. Lindsey Graham, the South Carolina Republican who’s proposed a special counsel to look into all matter of Obama-era shenanigans in regard to the 2016 election — but it’s in the same vein.
The message is clear:
Now it’s the Republicans’ turn. And unlike the chimerical Russiagate accusations — what President Donald Trump repeatedly called a “witch hunt” — this is actually real. The idea that a dossier consisting of dodgy opposition research paid for by Hillary Clinton and the Democrats was used to get a FISA warrant against a Trump campaign employee — that’s real.
Lives being destroyed to promote a narrative? That’s real, too.
Peter Strzok’s text messages and conflicts of interest in several investigations? Again, real.
This is about justice. Now that the phony “collusion” narrative is out of the way, we can finally seek it.

Once upon a time, President Obama warned the United States cannot tolerate illegal immigration.
Then, President Trump worked to turn his lip-service into action.
And we all know what happened next. Democrats suddenly started pretending the border crisis doesn’t exist.
In fact, not too long ago, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer stood arm in arm, acting as though they’ve never even considered a border crisis. Considering the massive proof that most Democrats previously supported tightening border security, only one logical explanation remained.
Apparently America is nothing without our illegals.
Thus, Pelosi let the cat out of the bag as to why she and other Democrats oppose President Trump’s wall.
She wants illegals to vote.
Pelosi spoke at a news conference on voting rights with Rep. Lloyd Dogget (D-TX) in Austin, Texas. According to the House Speaker, “newcomers” should “be fully part of our system” after arriving in the United States. Newcomers are in fact Pelosi’s euphemism for illegals.
“So, when we talk about newcomers, we have to recognize the constant reinvigoration of America that they are, that we all have been – our families,” Pelosi said.
“And that, unless you’re blessed to be Native American – which is a blessing in itself that we respect – but that constant reinvigoration of hope, determination, optimism, courage, to make the future better for the next generation.
“Those are American traits. And these newcomers make America more American.
“[Further] we want them, when they come here, to be fully part of our system. “And that means not suppressing the vote of our newcomers to America.”
Sadly, neither Americans or our LEGAL newcomers can accomplish this “re-invigoration” of the country. It takes illegals to do this.
But those votes link to clear and present danger, whether Pelosi admits it or not. Democrats can deny the border crisis as much as they want to, but the numbers don’t lie. More than a million illegal immigrants know to be in the US absolutely refuse to comply with deportation rules. How’s that for “law-abiding citizens?”Additionally, some estimates forecast more than a million migrants will be apprehended this year alone trying to cross illegally.
Obama-era Border Patrol Chief Mark Morgan sounded the alarm Thursday on the crisis at the southern border, testifying before Congress that the crisis is “at a magnitude never seen in modern times” and urging lawmakers to act to stop what he described as a virtual “open border policy.”
“We’re experiencing a crisis at the southern border at a magnitude never seen in modern times, it’s unprecedented,”Morgan, who served as the head of U.S. Border Patrol during the Obama administration,told the Senate Homeland Security Committee.
Morgan made the remarks after Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said that more than 76,000 migrants were detained in February — the highest number of apprehensions in 12 years — and were on pace for more than 100,000 apprehensions in March. The surge in numbers has led President Trump, who declared a national emergency on the border in February, to threaten to close the southern border if Mexico did not stem the numbers flowing north, and if Congress did not act.
“If we don’t make a deal with Congress…or if Mexico doesn’t do what they should be doing…then we’re going to close the border, that’s going to be it, or we’re going to close large sections of the border, maybe not all of it,” he said in the Oval Office Wednesday.
Downward Spiral
Of course, we know the border crisis is escalating a neck-breaking speed. Under Obama, the crisis was difficult to manage. But now, the President fights this battle without the support of Congress. Further, many agents are diverted from security to humanitarian efforts.
Fox continues:
“In 2016, as chief, I estimated 15 percent of agents’ resources were diverted from the front lines to support humanitarian activities. I saw that as a crisis and so did everyone else,” he said. “Now Border Patrol is diverting 40 percent of personnel away from front lines to humanitarian-related functions, meanwhile cartels are exploiting the resultant resource gaps.”
Like Trump, who has blamed U.S. immigration laws in part for the crisis, Morgan said that “loopholes in our asylum laws and nonsensical judicial precedent has driven what has devolved into essentially an open border policy for a certain demographic.” He added that families coming to the border know that if they step foot on U.S. soil they can say they have “credible fear” of returning home and they’ll be allowed into the U.S.
He also warned that an unsecured border is leading to increased flows of drugs into the U.S. and called the claim that most drugs come through ports of entry “simply false.”
“We have no idea, no idea what’s coming through our southwest border,” he said.
It’s actually very simple, we have two choices here. We can continue listening to an ideology fueled by personal politics and bitterness over a lost election. Or, we can study the facts, evaluate the figures, and protect our country.
A federal district judge in California recently knocked down that state’s ban on firearm magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition as being an unconstitutional infringement of the Second Amendment. The liberal media hasn’t really said too much about the ramifications of this ruling, and for good reason, as it undermines a major argument put forward by the anti-gun crowd in support of their confiscatory gun control schemes.
NBC News reported U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez struck down the ban on possession of “large capacity magazines” that hold more than 10 rounds, in large part due to the commonality of such ammunition feeding devices. Benitez also slammed the lawmakers who think they know what citizens need to defend themselves and their families or protect their homes and property from common armed criminals.
The judge’s 86-page ruling began by declaring “Individual liberty and freedom are not outmoded concepts,” and compared three stories of home invasions in which a woman used a firearm to defend against her assailants. In two of those cases, the victim ran out of ammunition prior to the end of the criminal assault against them, while in the third case, a woman dressed in only pajamas with a large capacity magazine managed to fend off three attackers because she had the extra ammunition in the large capacity magazine.
Benitez wrote that the woman “held a phone in one hand and took up her pistol in the other and began shooting. She fired numerous shots. She had no place to carry an extra magazine and no way to reload because her left hand held the phone with which she was still trying to call 911. After the shooting was over and two of the armed suspects got away and one lay dead, she did get through to the police.”
California first instituted a ban on so-called large capacity magazines in 2000 but allowed those who already possessed such magazines to keep them. However, the law was changed in 2016 to no longer grandfather those previously possessed magazines. Benitez had issued an injunction in 2017 to block the implementation of that law, which would have required all such magazines be turned in or else risk a felony charge for unlawful possession. The reasoning behind the added confiscation and penalties for possession was to reduce death counts in mass shootings. However, Benitez noted that while incredibly tragic, mass shootings were also “extremely rare,” and the law-abiding citizenry shouldn’t be infringed upon with a “solution” to a relatively small problem.
Citing the prevalence of common crimes versus mass shootings — and the fact that it wholly depends on each individual incident to know how many rounds will be needed to defend oneself — the judge decried the limit of 10 rounds to be a significant burden on the Second Amendment-protected right of all law-abiding Americans to possess “arms” necessary for self-defense. The ruling cited the Supreme Court’s monumental District of Columbia v. Heller decision in 2008, as well as other cases similarly couched on that precedent, which guaranteed the right of Americans to possess “common” arms. Benitez ruled that standard magazines that hold more than 10 rounds fell into the category of being arms in common use. He also gave a nod to the “militia” clause in the Second Amendment later in the ruling by noting that, in the unlikely but still possible event a citizen militia would need to defend the country in the future, they would likely have to do so with firearms and magazines holding more than 10 rounds.
“Constitutional rights stand through time holding fast through the ebb and flow of current controversy. Needing a solution to a current law enforcement difficulty cannot be justification for ignoring the Bill of Rights as bad policy. Bad political ideas cannot be stopped by criminalizing bad political speech,” Benitez wrote.
“Crime waves cannot be broken with warrantless searches and unreasonable seizures. Neither can the government response to a few mad men with guns and ammunition be a law that turns millions of responsible, law-abiding people trying to protect themselves into criminals. Yet, this is the effect of California’s large-capacity magazine law,”he added.
The judge also took on the leftist trope that firearms holding more than 10 rounds were “too lethal” for the average citizen to possess. After noting that all firearms of any capacity are “dangerous” and “lethal,” he followed the faulty logic to conclude that, if the 10-round limit were allowed to stand, it could eventually be reduced by the state to as few as one allowable round — a ridiculous notion that would completely undermine the entire premise of armed self-defense.
Judge Benitez concluded that California’s ban on magazines that hold more than 10 rounds could not survive any level of legal scrutiny, nor was it historically acceptable prohibition, and thus was unconstitutional as it placed an unfair and severe burden on law-abiding citizens.
This judge is exactly right. Nobody knows how many rounds will be necessary to defend against an unknown number of assailants, and arbitrary limits imposed by the state — with criminal liability for non-compliance — only serve to burden law-abiding citizens while having no effect on criminals who are already violating existing laws.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement sent a strong message to employers who hire illegal immigrants with a Wednesday raid on a Texas company that netted more than 280 people working in the U.S. illegally. The raid on the Allen, Texas, location of CVE Electronics, a New Jersey-based company, was described as the biggest workplace immigration raid in a decade, NBC reported. Four related staffing businesses were also raided. Allen is located 25 miles from Dallas.
“Businesses that knowingly hire illegal aliens create an unfair advantage over their competing businesses. They take jobs away from U.S. citizens and legal residents, and they create an atmosphere poised for exploiting their illegal workforce,”Katrina Berger, Homeland Security Investigations Dallas special agent in charge, said according to USA Today.
“We need integrity in our immigration systems. Illegal workers, these companies need to go about it properly. They need to be using a legal workforce. It’s required by law,” Berger said, KTVT reported.
The investigation began in January after ICE received tips that illegal immigrants had been hired by the company. An audit of CVE’s I-9 forms was then performed, NPR reported. Federal hiring laws require that new hires fill out I-9 forms to verify citizenship. The laws perform “necessary and common sense functions,”Berger said.
“They ensure U.S. citizens and legal U.S. residents are hired for jobs in the U.S. They also ensure that illegal workers are not preyed upon or paid less than the going wage or otherwise coerced or cheated or subjected to unsafe working conditions without any means of complaint,” she said.
However, those arrested and their families were displeased at the loss of their jobs.
“It’s not fair. It’s really sad and it makes a lot of people really angry and frustrated,” Anel Perez, daughter of a detained worker, said.
“The hardest thing was when the bus started taking off,”Wendy Armas of Gautemala, who was arrested and released to appear in court next month, said. She added that she had worked for five years at CVE.
“There was a long moment of silence, people crying, people saying, ‘I’m going to leave this country and go back to my own.’”
Some of those arrested could be eligible for a humanitarian release after being interviewed, Berger said. Others will be sent back to the home countries.
“Unauthorized workers often use stolen IDs of legal U.S. workers, which can profoundly damage for years the identity-theft victim’s credit, medical records and other aspects of their everyday life,” ICE said in a statement.
“The investigation is ongoing, but we can disclose that this is the largest ICE work site operation at one site in the last 10 years,” said Berger.
Raids on employers who hired illegal immigrants have stepped up under the Trump administration.
“Not only are we going to prosecute the employers that hire illegal workers, we’re going to detain and remove the illegal alien workers,”former acting ICE Director Thomas Homan said in 2017, announcing the change in policy.
“When we find you at a work site, we’re no longer going to turn our heads. We’ll go after the employer who knowingly hires an illegal alien … but we’re always going to arrest a person who is here illegally. That is our job,” he said, according to CNN.
In August, immigration officials said they thought a raid at a Texas company was its largest in a decade when it arrested 160 workers at Load Trail, a manufacturing company located in Paris Texas, according to the Dallas Morning News. Last June, 114 workers were arrested at two locations of Corso’s Flower and Garden Center, an Ohio gardening center, according to The Washington Post.
Before that, ICE had raided Southern Provision, a meatpacking company located in in Bean Station Tennessee, in April 2018 and arrested 97 workers, according to The Washington Post.

Despite a vast array of factors standing in the way of success, the pro-life movie “Unplanned” — which takes a decidedly critical view of abortion providers Planned Parenthood — opened in theaters this weekend with surprisingly robust ticket sales.
The film is centered around the real-life story of a former manager of a Planned Parenthood clinic who has second thoughts about her position on the issue after witnessing abortions first-hand. She has gone on to become an outspoken critic of her former employer and the abortion industry in general as she now supports the right to life of unborn babies.
The pro-life film has faced staunch opposition from the predominantly liberal mainstream, such as receiving an “R” rating that will undoubtedly keep away some viewers, a refusal of some networks to air ads for the film, and even what appeared to be coordinated efforts by social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter to suppress accounts affiliated with the film in order to stifle its reach.
Despite all of those obstacles and more — or perhaps because of them — viewers flocked to see the film that tackles the abortion issue in a brutal, if thought-provoking manner, as evidenced by a review of the film from a self-proclaimed pro-choice viewer.
Writing for the Central Florida Post, a woman named Bridgette Bayley — who described herself as a pro-choice libertarian — admitted that the “Unplanned” movie had forced her to question many of the assumptions she had held as true with regard to abortion.
Bayley wrote that she initially resisted the efforts of a pro-life friend to get her to see the film, but eventually relented out of respect for her friend and the expectation she would have if she’d asked her friend to go see a movie about an issue that was important to her.
“I wish I had asked more questions. I almost wish I had not gone,” Bayley wrote. “Before the film, we got our drinks and smiled in front of the movie poster for Instagram, I had no idea how quickly our smiles would be wiped from our faces.”
Bayley wrote, “Unplanned was a bloody, emotional spiritual roller coaster.” She noted the irony of how conservatives tend to emphasize “facts over feelings”when the movie did the opposite, in her view, but noted how in doing so, the film managed to “tug on my heart strings in a way that actually made me reflect on a subject that I felt so confident on my beliefs of.”
She admitted that she had been “moved to tears”several times during the film, and expressed her appreciation for how the movie didn’t demonize the regular employees at Planned Parenthood clinics, but instead portrayed them as normal people who were misguided into believing that what they were doing was morally right and acceptable.
“By the end of the film, I was completely distraught, questioning everything I had ever believed about what abortion really was. I was hungry for more information, I went to Google, I talked with friends and I prayed,”Bayley wrote.
She declined to delve any further into whether her political affiliations and broader beliefs were substantially changed by the film, and stated that she still had plenty of questions about what she had seen in the movie. However, she admitted that she had been proven wrong when she entered the film with the mindset that nothing would change her core beliefs on the subject.
“What I saw DID make me question myself and my beliefs and I believe that EVERYONE should go and test themselves as I did,” she wrote.
Bayley encouraged everyone on both the pro-life and pro-choice sides of the debate to see the movie for themselves, for two distinct reasons. Pro-lifers should see it to realize not everyone who works in a Planned Parenthood clinic is a remorseless and evil monster, and pro-choicers should “go and expose yourself to a different perspective and compare that to your own reasons for your vote.”
“This film will challenge you in a way that politically-charged Facebook disputes never will,” she concluded.
This account of the pro-life film from an admitted pro-choice supporter of abortion is simply incredible and has gotten plenty of attention. Posted on the “Unplanned” movie’s Facebook page, it’s been shared more than 6,000 times from there alone.
We commend Bayley for not only keeping an open mind when viewing the film, but also having the bravery to publicly admit how it so thoroughly challenged her views on the subject.
Given the vehemence with which the pro-choice protects and defends abortion, Bayley’s admission is an unpopular one on that side, but it is correct. Hopefully others who have supported abortion will similarly see the movie with an open mind and come away with a changed heart.

“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy” (James 3:17).
The word “hypocrite” is an interesting one. It came into English from the Greek word which means “an actor” or “a stage player.” The idea is that actors in ancient Greek theater wore large masks to mark which character they were playing. The same person could play multiple characters that way. He or she would simply use a different “false face.”
The Democrats today are drowning in a flood of hypocrisy. It isn’t a surprise, I’m guessing, to those who’ve been paying attention. Here are a few of the “false faces” the Democrats want to put forth.
Do you remember Gov. Ralph Northam, Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax, and Attorney General Mark Herring? This was the trio of Virginia Democrats who found themselves in scandal a few months ago. Northam, remember, is the doctor who carefully described how to let an infant who survived an abortion die on the table. That’s the guy. Pictures of Northam in blackface were discovered, and Herring admitted to doing it as well. In normal circumstances, this would be an outrage, especially among the Democrats. Had a Republican done this, he or she would’ve already been out of office. Strange isn’t it that Northam and Herring remain.
Can you say hypocrisy?
Fairfax is another matter. He’s been accused by two different women of raping them. We are consistently reminded to believe the women. When Justice Brett Kavanaugh was accused by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford the Democrat presidential hopefuls were out in force. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), former Vice President Joe Biden, and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) all declared that the believed Dr. Ford, some of them before even hearing her testimony.
After a few initial awkward moments in the media, I haven’t heard any of them call for his accusers to be believed. The fact that he remains in office is a testament to a double standard. It doesn’t take a theater major to see that’s a “false face,” hypocrisy run amok.
Speaking of former Vice President Biden, he’s found himself in some hot water, too. Likely a target from the far-left, Biden is being attacked for touching women and making them feel uncomfortable. Just to put it into perspective, here are some Democrat and media attitudes about that.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) noted the importance of the “MeToo”movement during the hearings for Justice Kavanaugh. She wrote on her own website on October 1, 2018, of “multiple credible, corroborated allegations of sexual harassment.”She asserted that these, though ultimately unproven and spurious charges, should disqualify Kavanaugh from being on the highest court.
Now, though, with Biden, it’s different. She says of his recorded and undeniable actions, “such claims are not disqualifying for a potential 2020 presidential bid.” Let’s get this one straight. Accusations that were never proved because they never happened ought to have derailed Justice Kavanaugh, but actions clearly done by Vice President Biden which Democrat women have said made them uncomfortable are not disqualifying?
Can you say hypocrisy?
Then there’s the case of Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY). According to Mediaite, April 2, 2019, Rep. Nadler opposed the release of the Starr Report. He told PBS’ Charlie Rose it should not be made public.
“As a matter of decency and protecting people’s privacy rights, people who may be totally innocent third parties, what must not be released at all,” Nadler said in 1998. Now, regarding the Mueller report, Nadler sings a different song. On April 3, 2019, Nadler’s House Judiciary Committee voted to issue subpoenas to obtain the unredacted report. Nadler has vehemently demanded that Attorney General William Barr send them the nearly 400-page Mueller report without redactions — along with all of the evidence that supports its findings.
Let’s be clear on this. When it was the Starr report, it needed to be held, but when it’s the Mueller report, it needs to be released.
Hmm, can you say hypocrisy?

No change for SCOTUS, Appeals Court, Cabinet and senior nominees, “[b]ut for most other nominations – for the hundreds of lower-level nominations that every new president makes – post-cloture debate time would be reduced from 30 hours to 2 hours.”
Mitch McConnell has been a bad boy (in the eyes of Democrats) according to my email inbox:

WASHINGTON — In response to Mitch McConnell’s threat to break the Senate’s rules yet again in order to expedite GOP efforts to confirm as many of Donald Trump’s nominees as possible, People For the American Way Executive Vice President Marge Baker issued the following statement:
“There’s literally no one in the world with less credibility to accuse Democrats of obstructing the confirmation process than Mitch McConnell. His latest effort to break the Senate’s rules is a naked power grab based on lies and distortions. By attempting to speed up Republicans’ confirmation machine, Senator McConnell is trying to ensure that nominees to lifetime seats on the federal bench receive as little scrutiny as possible. That’s not because of Democratic obstruction—the Senate has confirmed almost the same number of district court nominees for Donald Trump as it did for President Obama, and far more circuit court nominees. It’s because time and again these nominees have been shown to be embarrassingly unfit. But Senator McConnell’s answer isn’t to find better nominees; it’s just to make sure there’s less transparency for the entire process.
“Judicial nominees, if confirmed, serve for life. And several of the nominees awaiting votes have frighteningly extreme records when it comes to opposing reproductive freedom, attacking the rights of LGBTQ people, undermining voting rights, and enabling torture. Rushing these nominees through the process would be profoundly irresponsible.” …
So what’s all the hysteria about?
McConnell is finally doing what has been threatened for over a year, to reduce floor “debate” time to get around Democrat obstruction where they invoke 30 hours of debate even for non-controversial non-debatable nominees. That drags out the process interminably.
It took six months of partisan delays — and several railroad accidents — before Democrats let the Senate confirm a federal railroad administrator, even though none of them actually voted against the nominee in the end.
It’s been 354 days and counting in Senate purgatory for the president’s nominee to head the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Two-hundred eighty-seven days and counting for the under secretary of state for management. Noncontroversial lower court nominees have languished for weeks and weeks — for no discernible reason — before they, too, were confirmed unanimously. These are just a few examples of the historic obstruction Senate Democrats have visited upon President Trump’s nominees for two years and counting.
Since January 2017, for the first time in memory, a minority has exploited procedure to systematically obstruct a president from staffing up his administration. This new, across-the-board obstruction is unfair to the president and, more importantly, to the American people. Left unchecked, it is guaranteed to create an unsustainable precedent that would see every future presidency of either party obstructed in the same mindless way.
The Senate needs to restore normalcy. And this week, we will vote to do just that….
… in President Trump’s first two years? We had to hold a stunning 128 cloture votes to advance nominations. Our Democratic colleagues made the Senate jump over five times as many hurdles as in the equivalent periods in the Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations combined….
The all-encompassing, systematic nature of this obstruction is not part of the Senate’s important tradition of minority rights. It is a new departure from that tradition.
“So today, I am filing cloture on a resolution that takes that bipartisan effort as its blueprint. This resolution from Senator Blunt and Senator Lankford would implement very similar steps and make them a permanent part of the Senate going forward. The Supreme Court, circuit courts, cabinet-level executive positions, and certain independent boards and commissions would not change.
“But for most other nominations – for the hundreds of lower-level nominations that every new president makes – post-cloture debate time would be reduced from 30 hours to 2 hours. This would keep the floor moving. It would facilitate more efficient consent agreements. And most importantly, it would allow the administration — finally, two years into its tenure — to staff numerous important positions that remain unfilled, with nominees who have been languishing.
“This resolution has come up through regular order, through the Rules Committee. And next week, we will vote on it. It deserves the same kind of bipartisan vote that Sen. Schumer and Sen. Reid’s proposal received back during the Obama Administration. I understand that many of my Democratic colleagues have indicated they would be all for this reform as long as it doesn’t go into effect until 2021, when they obviously hope someone else might be in the White House. But they’re reluctant to support it now.
“Give me a break. That is unfair on its face. My Democratic colleagues were more than happy to support a similar proposal in 2013 under President Obama. They whisper in our ears privately that they’d support it now if it took effect in 2021. But they can’t support it now, especially under these unprecedented circumstances, simply because we have a Republican president. So look, fair is fair. Members of this body should only support reforms that they would be ready to support in the minority as they are in the majority. Put another way, if my side is in the minority two years from now, I don’t think this will be unfair – it will not disadvantage us in the wake of a new Democratic president. This is a change the institution needs, a change the institution made already basically with a two-year experiment when President Obama was in office. This is a reform that every member should embrace — when their party controls the White House and when it does not control the White House.
This should help speed along the process, particularly for judicial nominees. There remain many empty seats to fill, and Republicans want as many as possible filled prior to the 2020 election, just in case.

Late Senator John McCain (AZ) apparently regretted choosing Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate in 2008. Why he made that known publicly makes little sense, considering McCain was going to lose the ‘08 race unless his VP was Barack Obama himself.
Even wilder is that Palin was not invited to McCain’s funeral.
Now, the former governor of Alaska is breaking her silence.
In an appearance on “Good Morning Britain” on Monday, the former Alaska governor said the funeral snub felt like a “gut punch.”
Palin said, “I was kind of surprised to be publicly disinvited to the funeral. I think that was an unnecessary step. [The McCain family] didn’t have to embarrass me and embarrass others. And it wasn’t just me, it was other good people from our campaign back in 2008 who were very, very loyal to Sen. McCain, and worked with him and for him for many years, and they weren’t invited to the funeral.”

Palin noted, “My guess is, it came from Cindy. She is very protective of John’s memory and legacy. She’s also a grieving widow. I think she wants to get through this as best she can. Donald Trump and Sarah Palin were not served official notice outright. I want to make that clear. It wasn’t a no-trespass order. They won’t be turned away by guards if they show up at the funeral.”
Hollywood’s Spike Lee is one of President Trump’s biggest celebrity critics. After winning an award for his film “BlackKklansman” at the Oscars on Sunday night, Lee decided to use part of his acceptance speech to call out POTUS.
“The View’s” Meghan McCain defended Lee for ripping into Trump after he sent a tweet blasting the activist director. She referred to 45 as a “reality show president,” an obvious dig at his past life as host of “The Apprentice.”
Lee: “When we regain our humanity it will be a powerful moment.”
Lee: “The 2020 election is around the corner — let’s all mobilize and be on the right side of history. Make the moral choice between love versus hate.”
Trump’s message for Spike:
Be nice if Spike Lee could read his notes, or better yet not have to use notes at all, when doing his racist hit on your President, who has done more for African Americans (Criminal Justice Reform, Lowest Unemployment numbers in History, Tax Cuts,etc.) than almost any other Pres!
Due to the overwhelming number of migrants attempting to cross into America from the southern border, the Department of Homeland Security is taking action. They are sending 750 additional agents to the border.
Today, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen M. Nielsen issued a memorandum to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Kevin McAleenan outlining new steps the agency must take to combat the growing security and humanitarian crisis at the southern border.
“The crisis at our border is worsening, and DHS will do everything in its power to end it,” said Secretary Nielsen. “We will not stand idly by while Congress fails to act yet again, so all options are on the table. We will immediately redeploy hundreds of CBP personnel to the border to respond to this emergency. We will urgently pursue additional reinforcements from within DHS and the interagency. And we will require those seeking to enter the United States to wait in Mexico until an immigration court as reviewed their claims.”

The Secretary ordered Commissioner McAleenan to undertake emergency surge operations and immediately increase its temporary reassignment of personnel and resources from across the agency to address the influx of migrants. According to the directive, the CBP Office of Field Operations shall accelerate its planned reallocation of up to 750 officers to Border Patrol Sectors that are affected by the emergency. Moreover, CBP is directed to explore raising that target, is authorized to exceed it, and shall notify the Secretary if reassignments are planned to exceed 2,000 personnel.
Secretary Nielsen further directed CBP to immediately expand the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), a DHS initiative to return aliens to Mexico to wait during the pendency of their U.S. immigration proceedings. The Secretary directed CBP to return hundreds of additional migrants per day above current rates to Mexico, consistent with U.S. law and humanitarian obligations. This increase in returns shall include individuals apprehended or encountered at or between POEs. Moreover, the agency is directed to plan for an expansion of MPP beyond the locations in which it currently operates in California and Texas.
President Trump tweeted:

In just five minutes, 400 illegal aliens were apprehended in El Paso. Again…four hundred apprehended in five minutes. Democrats say there isn’t a problem at the southern border, but the numbers beg to differ. And numbers don’t lie.

12 Senate Republicans decided to vote against President Trump’s national emergency at the southern border. Not one, not two, not three…12. Trump, as you’d imagine, was not at all pleased.
Enter Trump with the only word he really needed to say:
Enough said. “Veto,” says it all, doesn’t it?
Trump has to fight against his own party in a way Barack Obama never did. Democrats stick together while Republicans have minds of their own, for better or worse. In this case, worse.

The Mueller Report exonerated President Trump of claims that he colluded with Russia to steal the election from Hillary Clinton. In essence, Nancy Pelosi said screw Mueller’s Report. Her minions will continue seeking to create evidence of Trump/Russia collusion to impeach him.

Fake news media claims this is proof that Trump is guilty of collusion. The truth is the indictments and guilty pleas have nothing to do with Russia collusion. Many were found guilty of process crimes.
My wife Mary asked, “What is a process crime?”One example is investigators repeatedly ask you the same questions on different occasions. If you do not give the exact same answer each time, they can charge you with lying; a process crime. Suddenly, you find yourself in prison for a crime unrelated to the original investigation. Mary said, “Oh my gosh, given my short memory, you would be visiting me in prison.”
Since Mueller failed to find Trump/Russia collusion, Democrats and fake news media are demanding that Trump be charged with obstruction of justice. Every time the deep state loses a battle to get rid of Trump, their insane rage becomes more out-of-control. Their lawlessness, lies, deceptions and violence becomes more extreme. In the next 10 years, Democrats want to end air travel, ban fossil fuels, mandated that every new job be unionized and close nuclear plants. Absurdly, Democrats demand that every building in the US must be rebuilt for state-of-the-art energy efficiency. Democrats also want to fund those who are irresponsible and lazy.
Yes, there was a divide in the Tea Party during the presidential campaign. I campaigned for Ted Cruz. I praise God that Trump won. While doing an amazing job for We the People, Trump has been a one-man wrecking ball demolishing the way our best interests have not been served in Washington DC.

Should Trump go on the offensive after Mueller vindication?
Pennsylvania Democrats, including the state’s governor, chastised a freshman Republican representative for an “offensive” and “Islamophobic” opening prayer at the state capitol in Harrisburg on Monday, during which she mentioned Jesus numerous times.
In her prayer, Rep. Stephanie Borowicz — an associate pastor’s wife representing a district in the center of the Keystone State — also thanked President Donald Trump specifically for “unequivocally” supporting Israel.
The lawmaker began the invocation, “Jesus, I thank you for this privilege Lord of letting me pray. I Jesus am your ambassador here today representing you, the King of kings, the Lord of lords. The great I am.”
Borowicz referenced the tradition of leaders praying for the country, including George Washington at Valley Forge, Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg, as well as the members of the Continental Congress in Philadelphia who “fasted and prayed for this nation to be founded on Your principles and Your words and Your truths.”
“God forgive us — Jesus — we’ve lost sight of you, we’ve forgotten you, God, in our country, and we’re asking you to forgive us,” she said.
Borowicz then paraphrased the Bible passage 2 Chronicles 7:14, saying, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek Your face, and turn from their wicked ways, that you’ll heal our land.”
The verse has often been quoted by political and religious leaders, including Ronald Reagan who had his family Bible opened to it when he was sworn as the 40th president of the United States in 1981, CBN News reported. Mike Pence used the same Bible, opened to the same passage when he took the oath as vice president.
Borowicz further prayed, “thank you that we’re blessed because we stand by Israel,” a clear reference to the Bible’s Genesis 12:3.
The representative concluded her invocation: “I claim all these things in the powerful, mighty name of Jesus, the one who, at the name of Jesus, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess, Jesus, that you are Lord, in Jesus’ name.”
Someone, apparently a representative, yelled out as Borowicz was finishing, prompting Republican House Speaker Mike Turzai, who had looked uncomfortable at various points throughout, to nudge her arm indicating it was time to wrap it up.
Borowicz’s prayer came before Pennsylvania’s first Muslim-American female representative, Movita Johnson-Harrell, was sworn in. Johnson-Harrell recently won a special election to fill a vacant seat for a Philadelphia district.
Pennsylvania Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf said on Tuesday that he apologized to Johnson-Harrell for Borowicz’s prayer, Fox News reported.
“I was horrified. I grew up in Pennsylvania,”Wolf said. “Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn on the basis of freedom of conscience. I have a strong spiritual sense. This is not a reflection of the religion I grew up in.”
Johnson-Harrell told reporters she thought pretty much the “entire invocation was offensive,”describing it as a weaponization of Jesus and the Israeli – Palestinian issue.
“It blatantly represented the Islamophobia that exists among some leaders — leaders that are supposed to represent the people,”she added in an interview with the Pennsylvania Capital Star.
Democratic Leader Frank Dermody called Borowicz’s invocation “beneath the dignity of this House,”The Associated Press reported.
Majority Leader Bryan Cutler did not find fault with his Republican colleague.
“I, for one, understand that everybody has sincerely held beliefs and I would never ask any one of us as an individual to go against that,” Cutler said.
Borowicz was unapologetic, according to state house reporter Andrew Bahl.
“That’s how I pray every day,” she said, adding, “Oh no, I don’t apologize ever for praying.”
Michael Geer, president of the Pennsylvania Family Institute, said that individuals offering the opening prayers “should be free to pray as their faith and conscience dictates.” He said he would hope their words would not be censored.
“A Christian praying out loud to Jesus and speaking his name should not be a surprise to anyone, nor viewed as offensive,” Geer said. “From the days of William Penn and Benjamin Franklin, prayer is at the centerpiece of Pennsylvania’s founding and flourishing, and we must never abandon it.”
Harrisburg-based conservative radio talk show host Marc Scaringi agreed.
“State Rep. Stephanie Borowicz’s prayer wasn’t offensive,”he contended. “It was a beautiful invocation for the blessings of Jesus Christ. What’s offensive is Governor’s Wolf’s apology — that he was ‘horrified’ by the prayer.
“Strangely, Wolf invoked Pennsylvania’s founder, William Penn, in rebuke of Borowicz and her prayer. Yet, Penn founded Pennsylvania to be a peaceful refuge for members of all religious beliefs — and yes, that includes Christians too! Pennsylvanians should be horrified by our Governor’s apparent rebuke of the blessing of Jesus Christ.”
Rep. Jason Dawkins, a Muslim lawmaker, opened Tuesday’s Pennsylvania House session by reading from the Quran, prompting applause in the chamber, Fox News reported.

The only people surprised that the special counsel’s investigation of Russian collusion did not confirm a lunatic conspiracy theory are consumers of the modern American media. For two years, our constitutionally protected guardians of the truth put out a stream of misinformation, promising viewers that Robert Mueller was going to reverse the outcome of the 2016 election.
Everyone at fake news MSNBC, marginally less fake news NBC, and totally fake news CNN — hosts, guests, legal experts and national security analysts — should be told, Clean out your lockers. Put all your things in cardboard cartons. If you need to go back, you will be escorted by security.
Instead, they are adamantly refusing to take back their years of lies about Trump and Russian collusion. This is not a time to let bygones by bygones. The boot should not be lifted from the media’s throat.

Who needs to actually ‘know’ any ‘facts’ when you have an audience who hates gun rights and is more than ready to buy any lie you sling at them?
What he lacks in knowledge, he more than makes up for in righteous indignation. And emotion — rather than facts — seems to be the coin of their realm.
It that long ago that AOC who said: “I think that there’s a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually and semantically correct than about being morally right.”
The ‘morally correct’ position (as they see it) is to oppose gun ownership, lawful or otherwise because they are convinced that gun ownership endangers lives.

The townhall question was “how can we talk about being free when we live in fear of gun violence; what is your plan to ensure our safety?”
He set his sights (so to speak) directly at the ‘evil’ NRA, showing himself as the clown that he is. The only things missing from this over-rehearsed performance were a single glistening tear (like Obama’s) and maybe some jazz hands.
We are going to bring the fight to the NRA who wants to represent corporate gun owners … corporate … gun corporations… uh… manufacturers more than they want to represent the people because this is what they’re doing to Americans. They are defending loopholes, like that loophole that if a man who is convicted of beating his wife he can find a loophole to go out and find a gun and murder her. They are defending not their membership, but loopholes like the loophole that says [voice trembling] that someone on the terrorist no-fly list in our country can still go to a gun show and buy weapons. Somebody who’s convicted of a violent crime can still find a loophole to go and buy a weapon.”
Thanks for that community theatre performance there, Spartacus. But your delivery and content both need some work.
First off, the NRA is not ‘in the pocket’ of manufacturers. They don’t need to be. They are funded by millions of citizens, thank-you very much. It’s called a ‘grass-roots’ movement. Democrats used to pretend to care about such things.
The NRA is doing work that no liberal will do — they are defending the Constitution as written.
If you look carefully at the American founding documents, you might notice there is this thing called the Bill Of Rights. On that document, you will find a list of enumerated points that are pretty important to the American system of government, including a particular phrase on there that says ‘shall not be infringed’.
The NRA (and similar groups) are standing up against morons like Booker who don’t think American citizens can or should be trusted with such rights. They also think that teens too young to walk into an R-rated film should be entrusted with the right to vote… but that’s a subject for another day.
But Booker is picking a fight with NRA’s advocacy. Let’s look at the ‘Loopholes’ he’s talking about.
Man convicted of beating his wife can find a loophole to go out and find a gun and murder her.
If you are registered as a felon, you cannot legally buy a gun.
What gun advocates want is precisely the opposite. They want the woman facing a threat of violence to have the right to own a gun for her own protection without an unreasonable waiting period that further endangers her safety, something gun-grabbers directly oppose.
Let’s look at the terrorist no-fly list.
Have there been any problems with that list? Has the ACLU railed against it as being unconstitutional? Have people been wrongly barred from travel?
A Muslim family of 11 from the UK was barred from flying to Disney because of a no-fly list.
Two days after the family was stopped from boarding their flight, another British traveller, Ajmal Masroor, an imam and lecturer based in London, was turned away from boarding a flight to New York.
“USA has the right to issue and revoke visa – I fully understand that,” Masroor wrote in a Facebook post. “However not forwarding any reasons infuriates ordinary people. It does not win the hearts and minds of people, it turns them off. I am amazed how irrational these processes are but does USA care about what you and I think? I don’t think so!”

Spartacus would be outraged by those people being barred from flying — but not American citizens being stripped of their Second Amendment rights without due process, without their knowledge, and without any recourse of having those rights restored if they had been wrongly stripped of him.
Someone convicted of a violent crime can buy a weapon?
If you mean the lawful purchase of a firearm, (as opposed to a machete or a bat) you’re wrong. But we’re not expecting serious answers about gun safety from the party that objected ICE being notified if an illegal alien tried to purchase a firearm, are we?
Even Sutherland Springs — the killer was legally disqualified from owning guns, but the government screwed up the paperwork and he wasn’t added to the FBI database. The NRA actually WANTS these problems fixed, and violent felons stopped from purchasing firearms.

The Senate voted on Tuesday on freshman Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green New Deal,” an ambitious project that would cost upwards of $100 trillion taxpayer dollars.
Things didn’t work out in AOC’s favor – not by a long shot.
Four Democrats sided with Republicans and voted “No,” while 43 Dems voted “present.”
In other words, not one member of the Senate voted “yes.”
The Green New Deal, a sweeping Democratic proposal for dealing with climate change, fell at the first hurdle Tuesday as the Senate failed to reach the 60 votes necessary to begin debate on the non-binding resolution, with 42 Democrats and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., voting “present.”
No senator voted to begin debate on the legislation, while 57 lawmakers voted against breaking the filibuster. Democratic Sens. Doug Jones of Alabama, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona joined 53 Republicans in voting “no.” Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, who caucuses with the Democrats, also voted “no.”
The vote had been teed up by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., in a bid to make Democratic senators — including several 2020 presidential candidates — go on the record about the measure. McConnell had called the proposal “a radical, top-down, socialist makeover of the entire U.S. economy.”
A new report suggests the real number could nearly hit $100 trillion. That would come to, roughly, $650,000 per American household.
Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) “Green New Deal” — a massive government takeover of large portions of the U.S. economy — is projected to cost up to $93 trillion.
Bloombergreportsthat Ocasio-Cortez’s far-left plan would “tally between $51 trillion and $93 trillion over 10-years, concludes American Action Forum, which is run by Douglas Holtz-Eakin, who directed the non-partisan CBO from 2003 to 2005.”
The enormous price tag, which amounts to over $650,000 per U.S. household, covers a low-carbon electricity grid, net zero emissions transportation system, guaranteed jobs, universal health care, guaranteed green housing, and food security.
Ocasio-Cortez is “the boss.” Everybody good with that?
Her reasoning is that she’s trying to do something about “climate change” by introducing her “Green New Deal,” while her critics aren’t doing anything.
Has AOC considered that the opposition isn’t doing anything because there’s nothing to do?

President Trump gave two thumbs up as he left Air Force One in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday. And really, he had every reason to do so. The Mueller report — that Key to All Mythologies that liberals kept on believing would put Trump and his retinue behind bars for good — has been turned over to Attorney General William Barr. We don’t know the details of it and probably won’t for a while, but what we can glean thus far looks good for the president.
The biggest news is that there aren’t going to be any more indictments from the special counsel. That likely means that the report won’t contain solid proof of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians. Without any solid proof, the Russian collusion theory collapses into the dustbin of conspiracy theory.
But Beto O’Rourke isn’t above pronouncing Trump in cahoots with the Kremlin, even if Congress hasn’t been briefed on the Mueller report and he won’t be anyhow.
“You have a president, who, in my opinion, beyond the shadow of a doubt, sought to — however ham-handedly — collude with the Russian government — a foreign power — to undermine and influence our elections,” O’Rourke said at a town hall in South Carolina, according to CNN.
“If you are wondering about collusion then when you saw the President of the United States standing next to the leader of Russia on that stage in Helsinki, Finland, defending him and taking his word for it against our own intelligence community in our country, in (conservative columnist) George Will’s words, not mine, that is collusion in action,” O’Rourke said.
“Ultimately, I believe this will be decided at the ballot box in 2020 by you, by me, by all of us in this country.”
Just another day in Beto-land. It almost makes you forget about all that weird hacking stuff and concomitant lewd cow poetry.
So, all right, let’s unpack all of that. First, O’Rourke is straightforward in what he’s telling the crowd: He thinks Donald Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia — a country he had to remind his audience is “a foreign power” because apparently he doesn’t think highly of their intelligence — “to undermine and influence our elections.”(I neither know nor care how he did this “ham-handedly” or how this apparent patina of plausible deniability covers O’Rourke when the Mueller report eventually provides a cosmic thwack to this sort of rhetoric.)
His evidence of this is somehow the Helsinki summit, which may not have been Trump’s finest hour but certainly wasn’t the heart-clutching death-of-our-democracy moment the left maintains it was.
His attempt at making this sound bipartisan is bringing pundit George Will into it. This doesn’t work for two reasons.
First, Will is one of those conservatives who immediately checked into the Bill Kristol Psychiatric Center for the Trumpically Deranged the moment that he realized Trump’s candidacy wasn’t being treated by voters as the farce he thought it was. I have no small regard for Mr. Will’s oeuvre, but take this morsel of his fulmination from this past January and try to attribute it to someone who is either conservative or on an even keel: “Dislike of (Donald Trump) should be tempered by this consideration: He is an almost inexpressibly sad specimen. It must be misery to awaken to another day of being Donald Trump. He seems to have as many friends as his pluperfect self-centeredness allows, and as he has earned in an entirely transactional life. His historical ignorance deprives him of the satisfaction of working in a house where much magnificent history has been made. His childlike ignorance — preserved by a lifetime of single-minded self-promotion — concerning governance and economics guarantees that whenever he must interact with experienced and accomplished people, he is as bewildered as a kindergartener at a seminar on string theory.”
And second, what Will said about Helsinki actually proves O’Rourke wrong. Here is the passage to which the 2020 Democratic hopeful assumedly refers: “Like the purloined letter in Edgar Allan Poe’s short story with that title, collusion with Russia is hiding in plain sight,”Will wrote in July of last year.
“We shall learn from special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation whether in 2016 there was collusion with Russia by members of the Trump campaign. (Emphasis mine.) The world, however, saw in Helsinki something more grave — ongoing collusion between Trump, now in power, and Russia. The collusion is in what Trump says (refusing to back the United States’ intelligence agencies) and in what evidently went unsaid (such as: You ought to stop disrupting Ukraine, downing civilian airliners, attempting to assassinate people abroad using poisons, and so on, and on).”
By “collusion,” what Will meant was that Trump was paying fealty to the Russians. When it came to collusion by the Trump campaign, however, Will saw fit to leave that matter in the hands of Robert Mueller.
When O’Rourke took the stage during his Saturday whistle-stop and invoked Will, he’d almost certainly been disabused of the notion that Mueller’s investigation was going to provide any definitive link to show that Trump or members of his campaign colluded with the Kremlin “to undermine and influence our elections.”
But then, symbolic “collusion” between Trump and Putin on stage at Helsinki doesn’t get crowds in early primary states whipped up the same way that collusion to undermine our elections does, and it’s not as if many people in attendance are George Will readers anyway. (Crowds that need to be reminded Russia is “a foreign power” probably aren’t too keen on obscure polysyllabic words.)
But that’s the point about conspiracy theories: They don’t require evidence to keep on going. You can explain to your chemtrail-believing neighbor how condensation works when hot air comes out of jet engines at high altitudes, and he’s still going to think that the CIA is spraying mind-altering chemicals on all of us in the most inefficient way possible.
Kennedy assassination theories are marginally more plausible, but you’re still dealing with individuals who will never believe that a violent, pathetic specimen like Lee Harvey Oswald could alter history so easily even with the evidence right in front of them.
In the same way, the Democrats still can’t believe that — if indications are correct — the Mueller report will be two years of nothing. It’s a nothingburger of finely aged beef. It may provide intimations or innuendoes — though one would hope Mueller wouldn’t be that irresponsible — but no one will have been indicted by the special counsel for conspiracy with the Russians.
And yet, O’Rourke counts himself as a perfervid believer in the idea that there was collusion between Trump and the Russians to influence our elections. Or, at the very least, he thinks that his audiences believe there was — and that’s all that really matters, right?
House Democrats are not letting the conclusions of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report impede them from further investigations of President Donald Trump. “We’re going to move forward with our investigations of obstruction of justice, abuses of power, corruption, to defend the rule of law, which is our job,”House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler, a New York Democrat, said Sunday, according to Bloomberg.
Nadler insisted his wide-ranging probe, which he has already begun, is not a rehash of the Mueller report.
“It’s a broader mandate than the special prosecutor had,” he said.
Mueller was initially charged with investigating allegations that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia in 2016. As noted by Attorney General William Barr in a note to Congress, those allegations have been proven false.
“The Special Counsel’s investigation did not find that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 US Presidential Election,”Barr said in a letter to Congress.
But Nadler is now digging into the gray area in the Mueller report — whether Trump obstructed justice.
Barr’s letter said the report “leaves unresolved what the Special Counsel views as ‘difficult issues’ of law and fact concerning whether the President’s actions and intent could be viewed as obstruction. The Special Counsel states that ‘while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.’”
Nadler said that he wants to put Barr in the hot seat to determine how Barr decided not to pursue an obstruction case against Trump.
“Attorney General Barr, who auditioned for his role with a memo saying that it was almost impossible for any president to commit obstruction, made a decision in under 48 hours,” Nadler said Sunday, according to CBS.
He referenced a 2018 memo Barr wrote that said “Mueller’s obstruction theory is fatally misconceived” and based “on a novel and insupportable reading of the law.”
Mueller said Barr needs to better explain himself.
“Given what Barr found on obstruction of justice, I think all of us should be very concerned about the even-handedness,” Nadler said Monday. “The American public needs to know how exactly did he conclude there is no obstruction of justice.”
Nadler issued a statement co-authored with fellow Democrats House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff of California and House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings of Maryland that gave Barr a zinger for not charging Trump.
“It is unacceptable that, after Special Counsel Mueller spent 22 months meticulously uncovering this evidence, Attorney General Barr made a decision not to charge the President in under 48 hours. The Attorney General did so without even interviewing the President. His unsolicited, open memorandum to the Department of Justice, suggesting that the obstruction investigation was ‘fatally misconceived,’ calls into question his objectivity on this point in particular,”the statement said.
The three Democrats maligned Barr’s impartiality.
“The only information the Congress and the American people have received regarding this investigation is the Attorney General’s own work product,” the chairmen said.
“The Special Counsel’s Report should be allowed to speak for itself, and Congress must have the opportunity to evaluate the underlying evidence,” the statement said.
It is unclear yet whether the full Mueller report will ever be released. Both Trump and his Democratic critics, however, have said it should be released in full.

The Pentagon has approved the transfer of up to $1 billion to build 57 miles of President Trump’s southern border wall, according to a Defense Department statement released Monday night.
Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan notified Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen of the transfer in a letter, released alongside the statement, which said the money will go to block “up to 11 drug-smuggling corridors along the border.”
Look at that! The target areas are known drug-smuggling corridors. That makes perfect sense, don’t you think?
Shanahan “authorized the commander of the U.S Army Corps of Engineers to begin planning and executing up to $1 billion in support to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Customs and Border Patrol,” according to the statement.
“These funds will be used to support DHS’s request to build 57 miles of 18-foot-high pedestrian fencing, constructing and improving roads, and installing lighting within the Yuma and El Paso Sectors of the border in support of the February 15 national emergency declaration on the southern border of the United States.”
The statement adds that the Pentagon has such authority to transfer the money “to construct roads and fences and to install lighting to block drug-smuggling corridors across international boundaries of the United States in support of counter-narcotic activities of Federal law enforcement agencies.”

The plan is that;
approximately $8 million will be reallocated to build the wall,
with $6.1 million coming from Pentagon accounts.
Of that, $2.5 million will be taken from counter-drug programs
and $3.5 from military construction projects.
Transferring money from counter-drug measures to build the wall to stop drug smugglers is going to really trigger our comrades on the left. And the fact that it’s going to block an area of the border from Yuma to El Paso is going to trigger one particular leftist — one Robert Francis O’Rourke.
Of course, Democrats are opposing the move.
CNN is taking some tentative steps into a return to actual reportage without overt bias. In their reporting on the wall funds, CNN mentions that all of the Senate Democrats on the Appropriations Committee’s subcommittees on Defense and Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies signed a letter objecting to the reallocation of funds to the border wall. The Senators claim that the Pentagon did not seek approval before notifying the committee of the transfer of funds.
“We strongly object to both the substance of the funding transfer, and to the Department implementing the transfer without seeking the approval of the congressional defense committees and in violation of provisions in the defense appropriation itself,”the senators wrote. “As a result, we have serious concerns that the Department has allowed political interference and pet projects to come ahead of many near-term, critical readiness issues facing our military.”
The letter was signed by Sens. Patrick Leahy, Democrat of Vermont; Dick Durbin, Democrat of Illinois; Jack Reed, Democrat of Rhode Island; Brian Schatz, Democrat of Hawaii; Jon Tester, Democrat of Montana; Patty Murray, Democrat of Washington; Chris Murphy, Democrat of Connecticut; Tammy Baldwin, Democrat of Wisconsin; Dianne Feinstein, Democrat of California; and Tom Udall, Democrat of New Mexico.

Wow! That almost looks like honest-to-goodness reporting! However, the article is accompanied by a video that discusses how unlikely and expensive the wall would be.
Baby steps, I guess.
Even CNN’s attempt at throwing cold water on the border funds, (and what exactly is their solution — more physical patrols by border security agents?) this is still a win for President Trump.
Not only that, no one seems to acknowledge the ripple-effects on legal immigrants who have to wait longer to be processed as resources are used to deal with illegal border crossers.

Infectious diseases—some that ravaged populations in the Middle Ages—are resurging in California and around the country, and are hitting homeless populations especially hard.
…Public health officials and politicians are using terms like “disaster” and “public health crisis” to describe the outbreaks, and they warn that these diseases can easily jump beyond the homeless population.
“Our homeless crisis is increasingly becoming a public health crisis,” California Gov. Gavin Newsom said in his State of the State speech in February, citing outbreaks of hepatitis A in San Diego County, syphilis in Sonoma County and typhus in Los Angeles County.
“Typhus,” he said. “A medieval disease. In California. In 2019.”
After all, we noted this fact as early as 2015, when we noticed the combination of Obamacare and illegal immigration was hitting our public health system hard. Legal Insurrection has also followed the outbreaks of hepatitis A, typhus, measles, and other diseases in the news.
The record levels of previously well-controlled diseases is a disturbing trend. Now the Centers for Disease Control is indicating that the U.S. saw the most sexually transmitted diseases to date.
In 2017, the most recent data reported, there were dramatic increases in gonorrhea, syphilis and chlamydia.
In the country, there were 2,365,744 reported cases of these three diseases with chlamydia making up more than half of the reports (1,708,569 cases of chlamydia).
Total cases of these two STDs in the U.S. in 1941 was 679,028. Reporting on chlamydia did not begin until 1984 when there were 7,594 cases of the disease.
Popular Science also recently took a look at infectious diseases, addressing the reason that they were so hard to eradicate. Part of the reason can be attributed to politics.
…[G]etting the number of cases from a handful to zero comes with its own set of challenges, says Stephen Blount, director of Special Health Projects at the Carter Center, a human rights and public health nonprofit organization started by former president Jimmy Carter.
When the number of cases gets this small, he says, political issues become increasingly important. “It takes more time and energy and effort to find the last one, two, or 20 cases than [to] find them when there are hundreds.”People who make decisions around resource allocation might also see getting rid of the last handful of cases as a low priority, as there are always other conditions having greater impact.
However, Blount says, the last remnants of a disease won’t go away on their own. “It’ll almost certainly start to get bigger if you discontinue the human effort to drive cases down.”
Once a disease is eradicated, there’s no longer a need for a public health infrastructure to try and beat back the progress of a virus: If it’s not around, there’s no need for anyone to be vaccinated. But until the number of disease cases hits zero, researchers must invest similar effort and resources to keep the condition from spreading.
…“If you take action for a long period of time, and get numbers down, but stop the intervention, it almost certainly will come back,” Blount says.
Today’s politicians have enjoyed the public health works established by previous generations, but have clearly focused on policies that have undermined the solid efforts of their predecessors.
There were reasons rules were established against vagrancy, illegal immigration, unlawful dumping, and public urination. There was also logic behind measures requiring vaccinations, reporting of sexually transmitted diseases, and controlled care for those whose mental illnesses made it impossible for them to care for themselves properly.
Public health policy isn’t there to be mean, racist, or sexist.
It appears our feudal lords are going to have to relearn and reestablish these public health practices one more time if we are to have a healthy future.
Finally, I will simply point out to my governor that if you run a feudal society, you may expect feudal problems.
