The biblical account of creation describes the image of God upon humanity.
Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’ “And God said, ‘See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so. Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day (Genesis 1:26-31 NKJV).
“Let us…” Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit acted as one in creation to make humanity in God’s image or likeness. God gave humanity dominion over plants, animals, and nature, not over each other to control people as if they were possessions or property. Enslavement objectifies others in an attempt to control human liberty. Such objectification is always wrong. Such objectification violates God’s creative design that bestows freedom of choice upon humanity, the pinnacle of His Creation.
I believe that sexual harassment is wrong not only because it objectifies people and violates the imago dei God gives to humanity as His creative gift, but also because I reject the shifting mores of political correctness.
Human nature depends upon rules. Rules create order. Order is demanded to ensure predictability. Predictability is at the core of learning. All of life depends upon order. God built order into the universe to protect and prosper His creation.
It never works out well.
God created us with a need for very clear boundaries if we are to experience fulfilling expression of the sexuality that He so intricately designed within humanity.
And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him. “And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. “And Adam said: ‘This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.’ “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. “And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed (Genesis 2:18- 25 NKJV).
God designed man and woman for mutual fulfillment in lifelong covenantal love. Sex is to be a beautiful recreative and procreative act within the boundaries of holy, committed love.
God gave the Hebrew people a moral law in the Old Covenant. This moral law provided details for sexual fulfillment along with prohibitions of those activities that undermine the healthy function of a community. He insisted that sex within holy marriage is good and fulfilling. Sex outside of holy marriage is objectifying and exploitative. Someone always winds up losing. So, He forbade certain sexual relationships:
Everybody else was living this broken, sinful lifestyle. But God said “Not my people. They are in covenant relationship with me.”
Political correctness has abandoned God’s morality and replaced it with a new, more permissive one. The only problem is, IT DOES NOT WORK! The new morality is simply the old immorality. I find no hope in the fact that the moral carousel has stopped at this temporary conclusion because I know that the shifting mores of political correctness will continue to turn its destructive and downward cycle.
However, one after another, the exploiters are being “outed.” Once outed, they are being ousted. Newscasters, politicians, media moguls, business executives, preachers, and priests alike. Some are not even being afforded due process. But that is not my point.

Jesus seems to be viewed as a benevolent teacher, rather than the Savior of the World and Lord of all Creation. Of more preeminence is the “Sacredness, Oneness, and Unity of life.” Strangely, the words are even crowned with the honor of capitalization. Everything else appears to be viewed as a tool to arrive at such an experience.
The remaining five points encompass an array of qualities that exhibit kindness, compassion, peacefulness, environmental concern, and all-inclusiveness. But within the eight points, you’ll find no mention of sin, our sinful natures, or our need for salvation. And no references are made to the authority and sufficiency of the Scripture.
Tony Campolo, co-founder of the “Progressive Red Letter Christian” movement, has led many evangelicals to believe the words Jesus spoke while in human bodily form carry more weight than the rest of Scripture. In an interview with The Christian Post, Tony explained that Red Letter Christians believe that because “Jesus raises the moral standard,” His words are “the most important part of the Scripture.
“There’s no question that the morality prescribed by Jesus is superior to anything that was hitherto suggested by the law and the prophets,” he continued.”
Tony’s son Bart says that progressive Christians turn into atheists. His claim comes from personal experience. He recited a sinner’s prayer when he was 15. And then he followed in his father’s ministry footsteps. He led inner-city missions in Philadelphia and Ohio, and he traveled extensively as a guest preacher.
In over 30 years of ministry, Bart experienced a great deal of confusion and theological regression. In an interview with Holy Heretics, he said, “I passed through every stage of heresy. It starts out with sovereignty goes, then biblical authority goes; then I’m a Universalist; now I’m marrying gay people. Pretty soon I don’t actually believe Jesus actually rose from the dead in a bodily way.”
Finally, in 2011, his wife Marty who had presumably traveled a similar path, confronted him. “You know, I think you ought to stop being a professional Christian since you don’t believe in God, and you don’t believe in heaven, and you don’t believe Jesus rose from the dead three days after dying — and neither do I.”
She was right. Bart admitted, “The supernaturalism in my faith was dialed so far down you could barely notice it.”
In 2004, he performed a wedding for two close lesbian friends. And in 2006, he began teaching that nobody could go to hell and all would be saved. That compromise had begun back in college when he had two gay roommates. Although he had been taught that homosexual behavior was sinful, he either couldn’t admit his friends were doing anything wrong or he couldn’t bring himself to address them with the gospel. Instead of courageously and lovingly speaking truth into the lives of his two friends, he altered his belief system.
That came after his exposure to urban poverty as a teen. Having believed that God was all-powerful, he couldn’t understand why He couldn’t or wouldn’t intervene. So instead of humbling himself before God, Bart adjusted his theology. Gone was the sovereignty of God. And as he put it, that was “the beginning of the end.”
If he didn’t like the way God defined things or how He did things … or didn’t do things, he changed his beliefs to harmonize with his understanding or to match what he thought should be. And Bart admits, “It’s an infinite progression.”
Today’s progressive Christian fails to take a biblical position on abortion, homosexuality, and other forms of sexual immorality. When we line up our speech with the Word of God concerning the sin most severely attacking the culture at large, we place ourselves in a raging battle over truth. And we may suffer some wounds as a result.
Many are unwilling to take the risk. It’s easier to go with the flow. Why draw a line of distinction? A shift in beliefs becomes necessary.
Jesus Himself clarified in Luke 12:50-53 that He came not to bring peace to the earth, but to divide people against each other. While Christ followers are called to be peacemakers, that never comes at the cost of compromising on the Word of God. Jesus told His disciples in advance that they would be hated by the world, as it first hated Him (John 15:18-19). These are teachings that appear in red ink, yet they seem to be overlooked by progressive Christians. When one reduces God’s Holy Word to the red letters, he will soon find himself picking and choosing which of the red letters are worthy of retaining.
“When you get to this ragged edge of Christianity,” Bart explained, “when people say ‘God’ they sort of mean ‘the universe’ and when they say ‘Jesus’ they sort of mean ‘redemption.’”
He has predicted that over the next decade as many as 40% of progressive Christians will stop pretending they believe God exists. Now a secular humanist himself, Bart described the process of abandoning Christian beliefs as almost addictive, adding that once you start, you don’t know where to stop.
AFA’s new documentary, The God Who Speaks, presents an answer to the issue of progressive Christianity – the Word of God in its entirety. Scores of honest questions are asked during the intensive one-hour-and-30-minute film, and each is answered with accuracy and detail.
Norman Geisler, a contributor to TGWS, said, “If you can get people to doubt the Bible, then you’ll get them, sooner or later, to deny. You have to doubt first before you’re going to deny. Then if you deny, then you’re going to get them to disobey. And that’s worked so well since the Garden of Eden; he [Satan] hasn’t had to change his tactics. He still uses it.” Geisler serves as Distinguished Senior Professor of Theology and Apologetics at Southern Evangelical Seminary.
“We don’t go to the Bible wanting to judge the Scriptures. We go to the Bible with a sense of submission, wanting to hear what the living God wants to say to us – and that’s crucial,” said contributor Conrad Mbewe, pastor of Kabwata Baptist Church in Lusaka, Zambia.
As with the mission of progressive Christianity, the film also finds grace in the search for understanding. But rather than valuing questions over absolutes, it values truth over all. Jesus, after all, is “the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Your Excellencies, Distinguished Guests, Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The leaders of our Church asked me to address you today. No doubt they asked me because they felt it to be right that, at the final gathering of this five hundredth anniversary, I should speak on behalf of the Hungarian Government – both as Prime Minister and a member of the Reformed Church. Tradition is a compelling force – particularly today, ninety-nine years to the day after anti-Christian forces murdered István Tisza: a great Prime Minister and member of the Reformed Church. In addition to our respect for tradition, this anniversary also presents us with an opportunity to clarify, to discuss and reach conclusions on what lessons the Reformation has for public affairs, state administration and the building of the nation.
This is what I would like to speak about now; and due to the constraints of time, I will do so in the manner I have just learned from Bishop Steinbach: I won’t explain things, I’ll simply say them. To serve people is at least as difficult a task in Government as it is in the Church, and this is why I am personally grateful for all the support we receive from our spiritual and intellectual communities, from you Protestants, and naturally also from our Catholic brothers and sisters. In the past few decades, I have also learned that prayer is the highest form of this support. Thank you for your prayers.
As our lives and work are governed by a force and a power that is higher than us, it is also part of a higher order of things that before our celebration we have a service of worship – only after which we turn to our secular affairs. The world did not begin with us, but at the beginning of our lives, there is the same divine order which created man and gave him place and time. The place for us is the Carpathian Basin, the heart of Europe. The time is two thousand years after the birth of Jesus Christ, one thousand years after our first king’s decision that he and his people would become Christian, and five hundred years after the spiritual and intellectual revolution that revived the Christian faith.
This is our place, and this is our time. God’s teachings have led us to see not a mere coincidence or whim of fate in the fact that, here and now, there is a Christian government of faith leading Hungary, but to see in this a manifestation of God’s mercy. We believe that, after a period of anti-Christian, internationalist governance, Hungary needs a period of governance that seeks to follow Christian values; and we accept that task. We are now confirmed in this belief by the fact that Hungarian citizens decided to grant us a second mandate. We are grateful for the fact that the nation has united its efforts, has regained its footing and has grown in strength.
We are grateful for the fact that it has regained its vitality, its capacity for action and the desire to do great things. We are grateful that, instead of letting the current carry it, it has chosen a cardinal point of the compass and a lodestar, it has charted a course, and it is creating a route for its own life. We believe it is a privilege that in this renewal, Providence has used us as a vehicle: our churches, the Government and the free communities of Hungarian citizens across the entire Carpathian Basin. We are grateful that divine mercy has made up for our weaknesses and lack of strength, and canceled out our mistakes.
We also see it as a manifestation of God’s help that, although we need to stand in the way of major forces – even global forces – we can still stand, and we are still standing on our feet. We believe it to be the essence of our responsibility, ordained in our governmental duties, to preserve the approach to life which, based on the teachings of Christ, has made Europe and the Hungarians great, protected us in times of peril, and helped us through spiritual, intellectual and national crises.
We don’t confuse our calling with the mission of our churches. Our calling is to protect the ways of life that have their roots in Christianity. We defend human dignity, we defend families, we defend the nation, and we defend our faith communities. For us, this is not a mere task, but a duty and a calling which we must perform to the best of our abilities. We can see that the Hungarian people and Christian Europe are in need of spiritual and intellectual renewal.
For our part, we take on the share allotted to us as free people, of our free will, of our free resolve. The Scriptures, too, teach us – and our experiences in Government confirm this – that we should never set the soul against the body; we should never set our financial and social needs in opposition to our spiritual and intellectual growth. While working to enable Hungarians to live well, we are also making efforts to enable them to a more fair, happier and richer lives, with hearts uplifted. The Reformation also taught us that we should never set a good, fine human life against a life serving the glory of God. What is good for a community of people glorifies God the Creator and Redeemer. That which serves the glory of God is the best for the people – indeed it is the ultimate good.
We not only want a future in which everyone has a job – we have almost achieved that – but a future in which the glory of God is also served by every form of work: from street sweeping to the country’s governance. Sincere worship for God and service for men. The outlines are already visible: bridges are being built on the Danube, along with Hungarian Universities in Transylvania and hundreds of kindergartens throughout the Carpathian Basin; and Felvidék, Transcarpathia, Vojvodina and Transylvania are also celebrating together today. The reality of a peaceful unification of the nation across the borders is becoming visible.
However, the thousand-year biblical force – which five hundred years ago gained such sweeping momentum that it reached even the tiniest Hungarian household – today gives us one more task. Those who have gone before us struggled a great deal with that task, but with hardly any success. We know that the truth sets one free. We have experienced this in spiritual trials and tribulations, and in our freedom fights, but we have yet to learn how together – rather than torn asunder – we can represent the truth that we have recognized. For the final, great unification of the nation, we shall need the truth that not only sets us free, but also keeps us together, and unites not only the parts of our nation but also Hungarian souls.
I sincerely hope that it is possible to also celebrate the Reformation as something that not only has led to a denomination – a section of the community – but much more as a common calling given to us Hungarians. Ultimately we are fighting and praying together for God’s blessing on the Hungarians.

Hello, God.
First, let me say that we appreciate all you have done for us since life began. You gave us guidance and help during our growing up period. You taught us about love and family and so many other good things. You really tried, but sometimes effort doesn’t count. Times change, and now is the time for us to make a break from you.
God, we don’t want to hurt your feelings, but we don’t need you anymore. You really made a mess of things when you created us. However, we now have the knowledge and resources to clean up that mess.
Remember the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you told Adam and Eve about in the beginning? You told them not to eat that fruit. But they did. And so are we. In fact, we are not only eating it, we are having a feast! And it tastes great!
We are in the process of developing scientific knowledge to make humans live hundreds of years. Scientists are close to extending human life to 200 or 300 years. Who knows, in the future, we might live as long as Methuselah. And we can now create life, God. Using cloning, we are going to produce the perfect man. No disease. No deformities. Perfect, God.
We can even mix humans and animals to get the best of both. We can create the super race and then create a slave race to do our work. All we’re doing is what you should have done many centuries ago. So we’re going to finish the job you started – and do it right this time. We’ll produce non-violent beings that think like we think and do what we say. They will be whatever we want them to be.
Family? We’ve redefined it. No more one man, one woman stuff. We’re free of the old moral constraints. Now family may be two men or two women. Three men and one woman. Three women. Any combination will be OK. No more nasty divorce. No more of this foolish commitment for a lifetime. You just don’t get it, God. You never did.
And God, we’ve created very effective means of changing the thinking of humans. We have media mills on the East Coast and the West Coast, and they do a great job. We have our people in Hollywood and in the news media.
We can now build a perfect world.
Morals? We will determine those from now on. Your old set didn’t work. They were too confining, too restrictive. Did you ever notice that the rules you gave Moses were all so negative? We’re now more enlightened than you, and we understand what morals are best. That’s another issue we can best determine for ourselves.
In fact, we have already eliminated your wrongheaded rules about sex. God, you made such a big deal about that, but sex is nothing more than another activity. So we have removed the limits you placed on it.
To be honest, God, you made a mess of things when you were creating. Now we have to clean up your mess.
What’s that, God? Oh, we aren’t worried about the institutional church. They are more concerned about the institution than the church. They spend their time keeping themselves going and don’t have time to hinder us. It is no threat. In fact, we can even use the institutional church for our purposes.
How’s that? A remnant of those faithful to you? Yes, God, that’s about all you have left in the church.
To put it bluntly, God, we really don’t need you anymore.

My wife always says of the Word of God that if you will not stand on it, then at least hide behind it. The straight edge of Scripture is what should lead and guide every believer. Far too often, we are guilty of cherishing the opinions of man rather than the steadfast Word of God. But the Word of God is what causes us to be courageous, to be bold in our walk, and to be peacemakers instead of peacekeepers.
If we who are a part of the Body of Christ will not contend for the faith, then who will? While the wicked and the reprobate grow bolder in their wickedness, now is not the time for the followers of The Way to cower.
Armed with the Word of God and the precious Holy Spirit who infuses every believer with the power to stand in difficult times, we must stand firm and represent what we know to be true. Believer, don’t quiet down when they tell you to shut up; it’s this Christian witness that the world wants to silence. It’s this conviction — that the wages of sin is death and that the only way out of a totally depraved situation is through Christ Jesus — that the enemy wants to silence. We cannot be silent.
Instead, we should do as the prophet Isaiah declared:
The Body of Christ needs courage today. As this courage is displayed, I believe we will see that, as Rev. Graham stated, the spines of others in the Body will also be stiffened.

–No one has been to Heaven except the One who came from there. John 3:13. How clear is that? He is the One who knows.
–No one can come to God the Father except through Jesus. John 14:6. How clear is that? He is our Mediator.
–No one can know God unless Jesus reveals Him to them. Matthew 11:27. How clear is that? He is the Revealer.
–There is no other name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Only Jesus. Acts 4:12. How clear is that? He is our Savior.
–Jesus said He was given authority over all mankind. John 3:35; 13:3; 17:2 and Matthew 28:18. How clear is that? He is Lord.
Here’s an outline that sums it up for me.
It got me out of bed in the middle of the night recently. Use it if you can and if the Lord leads…
–One. There is only One who has come from Heaven–and He alone is our AUTHORITY on matters of Heaven and eternity. John 3:13
That’s why even the Father told people, “Listen to Him!” (Luke 9:35)
–Two. There is only One who has gone to the cross and made atonement for our sins–and He alone is our SAVIOR. John 3:16
That’s why the Holy Spirit draws people to Him. He is the Door (John 10).
–Three. There is only One who has risen from the dead and ascended to the Father–and He alone is our LORD. Acts 2:32-36.
That’s why every knee shall bow, every tongue confess. He alone is Lord.
Jesus is our Authority on things of life and the afterlife, our Savior from our sins and from the world, and Lord of Heaven and earth. He alone is worthy of all worship.
Jesus. It all comes down to Jesus. He is the focus of all God has revealed.

This is where people miss it.
They speak of God and think that’s enough. If they preach about God, what could be wrong with that? If they tell people to turn to God, they’re solid.
But they’re wrong.
Lots of people believe in God, they say, but have no use for Jesus.
It’s all about Jesus, friend. People have a thousand concepts of God, and have even made gods in their own image. They have no trouble with you telling them to “believe in God,” “turn to God” and “worship God.” It’s when you bring Jesus into the conversation that they jump ship.
No one in the New Testament was persecuted for talking about God. It was the Jesus-talk that got them into trouble.
–In Acts 4, the disciples were “proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead,” and were arrested. When put on trial, they announced, “it is by the name of Jesus the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, that this man was healed.” The authorities conferred and agreed to demand that “they speak no more to any man in that name.”
Had they preached the typical “God-only” message in a thousand churches today, they would have been safe.
–In Acts 5, they are arrested. The authorities say, “We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name….” After the believers were flogged, they went on their way, “rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name.” And they kept right on preaching Jesus.
Had they chosen to leave Jesus out of it, as is done in a thousand churches today, they could have spared themselves the suffering.
–In Acts 8, Philip joins himself to the Ethiopian who was puzzled by what he was reading in Scripture. “And beginning from this scripture, he preached Jesus to him.”
–In Acts 9, when Saul of Tarsus is knocked off his high horse, he stares into the brightest light he has ever seen and he hears a voice coming from it. “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” And then, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.”
When Saul took action against the believers, Jesus took it personally.
Anyone see a trend here? It’s all about Jesus.
To stay safe in ministry, leave Jesus out of it. To our shame, a great portion of our congregations will never notice. But the ones who know the Father will notice and will care. And at judgement, those who heard you but never knew Jesus will rise up and witness against you.
Tell them of Jesus, friend. Tell them He is the Authority on spiritual matters and heavenly things. Tell them He is the only Savior who can save us from our sins. Tell them He is Lord, for now and forever.
Tell them that a day will come when every eye will see Him, every knee bow before Him, and every tongue will cry out that Jesus is Lord! And that they would do well to get started now.
As I write, just yesterday a pastor friend did a funeral for a lovely young mother whom he had never met. She left a grieving husband and a small child. At the funeral, friend after friend rose to tell of her good works. But not a soul mentioned her faith or her relationship with Jesus. Afterward, a family member sought out the pastor. “You did a good job of skirting the issue,” he said.
He continued, “Our family did not go to church. Our parents never took us. All our church friends just assumed we were Christians. No one ever asked.”
Let us not be guilty of assuming everyone around us knows the Lord Jesus Christ, friend. Let’s go tell them.
Tell them of Jesus.

In Matthew 3, the Scriptures record that Jesus was baptized in the Jordan by John the Baptist.
Former Arizona Cardinals player Aeneas Williams, who is a pastor at The Spirit Church in St. Louis, Missouri, was there to help perform the baptisms for the players.
This is the sort of stuff that the media should be covering, but of course they won’t because it would show something other than people kneeling on the ground to take part in a pointless protest.
“Baptism is an outward sign of what has already happened on the inside of us,” Williams explained.
“Getting in the water, literally, your sins have been washed away and when you come up, it is symbolically a new person. The old person has been buried. We rejoice in the Lord,” he stated.
This action also highlights the generation gap between football players. The old guard are concerned with their love for God, while the newer generation is more concerned about how many people will like a picture of them kneeling.
The newer generation really has its priorities screwed up. In a few years, once their bodies are completely shattered from playing football, they will be completely forgotten by the American public and will having nothing to show for their protests.
However, the old guard have made their peace with God, and have clearly accepted something more important than a cool hashtag and a 30-second sound bite.
