An honors program at a public university gives students a scholarship and early course signup and lets them use laptops if they take classes on subjects like “white privilege” and Black Lives Matter, which both have community engagement components.

Sam Houston State University in Texas (SHSU) offers a scholarship of up to $2,800 to students who take these courses or others as part of its Elliott T. Bowers Honors College. Students who gain admission into the Honors College can sign up for courses earlier than their non-Honors peers, obtain access to a special computer center, and “automatically receive the Bowers Scholarship upon acceptance into the college.” The Honors students also graduate with distinction and gain usage of cameras, video cameras, and laptops for their class projects.

“Understanding Whiteness: Historic and Contemporary Viewpoints on Privilege,” asks SHSU Honors students “how might white people better understand white privilege and their potential role in dismantling systemic racism?” and requires students to “engage in personal self-reflection” and “educate others about white privilege through action research projects and community engagement initiatives.” The seminar examines “white privilege” from modern and historical perspectives, e.g., “the social construction of whiteness,” as well as “key historic events and movements advancing white privilege (eugenics, global colonization, holocaust).”

The Black Lives Matter Honors College seminar is taught by associate professor Ervin Malakaj, who co-chairs SHSU’s Diversity Committee for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

“The Black Lives Matter movement has called on Americans to address the racial violence, mass incarceration, and dehumanizing social policies directed at African Americans,” reads the seminar description. The BLM course is part of SHSU’s Academic Community Engagement (ACE) program, which blends teaching with community engagement.

Other seminars offered by the Honors College include a course examining the “physiology of sexual function,” and a course called, “Culture and Society: Harry Potter.”

SHSU, a taxpayer-funded public school, also offers three other scholarships to its Honors College participants, with amounts set at $500 per semester and $500 per year.

The Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear a high-profile case on transgender rights, sending it back to the lower courts. The justices tossed out a ruling Monday that allowed Gavin Grimm, a transgender boy in Virginia, to use the bathroom he chooses, and ordered that a lower court reconsider the case in light of new guidance issued by the Trump administration last month.

The justices had planned to hear arguments later this month and both sides had pressed for the high court to weigh in amid a national debate over rights for the transgendered.

Grimm, born female, was barred from using the boy’s bathroom in 2014 after the Gloucester County School Board enacted a policy requiring all students to use the bathroom that corresponds with the gender assigned at birth. The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals sided with Grimm, who argued that the school board “impermissibly discriminated against him” in violation of Title IX anti-discrimination laws and his constitutional right to equal protection under the law.  The court cited Obama administration guidance that transgender students should be allowed to use the bathrooms corresponding to their gender identity, claiming those rights were covered federal anti-discrimination laws addressing “sex.”But on Feb. 22, the Trump Justice Department and Education Department sent a letter to the lower court rescinding that Obama guidance.

The fight now returns to the lower court, where both sides vowed to press forward with their case.

“On remand to the lower courts, the Board looks forward to explaining why its commonsense restroom and locker room policy is legal under the Constitution and federal law,” the Gloucester County School Board said in a statement. LGBTQ advocates expressed disappointment in the justices’ decision.

“This announcement speaks volumes to the ways that President Trump’s actions are already having devastating consequences for transgender youth across the country,” said Freedom for All Americans Executive Director Matt McTighe, in a statement.

“All students, including transgender students, deserve to participate fully and succeed in school, and to feel safe and respected while doing so.”

At issue is whether Title IX’s anti-discrimination measures can force schools to allow transgender students to use the bathroom of their choice. The Obama guidance said it did. The Trump administration in withdrawing that guidance said the Obama administration failed to “explain how the position is consistent with the express language of Title IX,” but didn’t make their own case for whether Title IX applies. Legal experts say it’s unclear what the Fourth Circuit will do.

“It could ask for more briefing, it could send it back to the district judge to rule on the merits and then let it come back up,” said Carl Tobias, a professor at the University of Richmond School of Law.

“It could also wait and see what DOJ and DOE [Department of Education] are planning on doing or it could just go forward and reach the merits under Title IX and try to discern the legislative intent from 1972.”

In a statement, Mark Phillis, a discrimination and harassment lawyer at Littler Mendelson P.C., said there are two cases pending before the Second Circuit and Seventh Circuit Courts in which the interpretation of “sex” is being considered in the employment context under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

“Since Title IX cases often look to cases decided under Title VII, these cases could have an impact on the way the this case may be decided,” he said.

Legal experts say that the issue could eventually end up back before the Supreme Court, with other cases also making their way through the courts.

“No question about it,” Tobias said. “It’s just a matter of which case is the right case.”

He said Grimm’s case was premature. “The district court never reached the merits,” he said. “I don’t know why they granted cert.”

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which brought the case forward on Grimm’s behalf, told the justices on March 1 that the Trump administration’s actions made it critical for the high court to quickly resolve the question of transgender students and bathrooms.

“[T]he Court will inevitably have to settle the question by clarifying the proper interpretation of Title IX,” the group said.

A conservative radio talk show host slammed the Obama administration on Sunday over claims of spying and wiretapping, saying, “the evidence is overwhelming.” Mark Levin, who is also a constitutional lawyer, told “Fox & Friends” that the focus should not be on President Donald Trump’s tweets alleging the wiretapping, it should be about the Obama administration overreaching with its spy program.

“The evidence is overwhelming. This is not about President Trump’s tweeting. This is about the Obama administration spying, and the question is not whether it spied,” he said.

The question is who they did spy on and the extent of the spying that is the Trump campaign, the Trump transition, Trump surrogates.”

Levin listed his reasoning and offered evidence, including saying his sources tell him “the FBI sought and was granted a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act court” order. “This is spying.”

Levin charged that the Obama administration began investigating Trump in October because of, or under the umbrella of, his connection to Russia. Levin also suggested that private emails were given to the Obama administration to review. “Quote,The Guardian has learned the FBI applied for a warrant from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court in court in order to monitor four members of the Trump team,’” Levin read from an article, adding, “Keep in mind, this is during presidential election.”

Levin then suggested six agencies — including the FBI, CIA, NSA and Justice Department — knew about the Trump-Russia investigation that happened before the election. “The FBI and five law enforcement intelligent agencies have collaborated for months in an investigation in Russian attempts to influence the November election. … Are you telling me Barack Obama didn’t know it was going on in six agencies?” Levin asked. He continued that the media is “confused about their own reporting,” citing contradictory reports about intercepted communications between the Trump and Russia.

Levin called for an investigation, saying there is enough evidence to get a FISA court order. Levin said Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and other Democrats participated in this “cover-up activity.”

“For the Republicans in Congress, who control the majority, if the Democrats do not want to assist and they won’t because I’m starting to think Chuck Schumer and the others are participating in all of this cover-up activity, then plow ahead without them. But this is important to the country. We cannot have a sitting presidential administration unleashing six federal agencies,” on a candidate, Levin said.

President Trump signed a new executive order Monday that temporarily bans visitors from six Middle East and African counties while the administration creates an extreme vetting program, taking pains to remove the pitfalls of the original order and the perception that it’s a “Muslim ban.”

The new order also dropped Iraq from the list of seven predominately Muslim countries covered by the original Jan. 27 executive order that was blocked by federal courts. The ban will be phased in over a 10-day period to avoid the chaos at airports following the original executive order that caught travelers in transit, and the wording has been changed to avoid suspicions that it is a “Muslim ban,” said a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official.

“We are going to have a very smooth implementation period,” said the official, who spoke to reporters on condition of anonymity. “The motivation behind it is a real concern by the American people for their security.”

The 90-day halt of visitors from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen will take full effect March 16, according to the official.

The official stressed that the Trump administration was confident that the original executive order would have eventually prevailed in court, but for expediency the president opted for a new order that addressed the courts’ concerns. The inclusion of Iraq in the original ban raised objections from some U.S. military officials and the Iraq government because of special consideration previously given to Iraqis who aided in the war effort, including translators. The administration said Iraq was removed from the list, despite the presence of Islamic State fighters in the county, because of extra steps the Iraq government was taking to share information and assist the U.S. in vetting travelers.

“As a result of this increased information sharing, Iraqi citizens are not affected by the Executive Order. Of course, all normal immigration processing requirements continue to apply, including the grounds of inadmissibility that may be applicable,” according to the fact sheet.

In an attempt to demonstrate that the order is not a “Muslim ban,” which was a chief criticism of the original order based on Mr. Trump’s comments during the campaign, the new order removes language that exempted religious minorities from the targeting predominately Muslim countries.

The new order exempts people who currently have visas or legal “green card” status in the U.S., a carve-out that was not included in the original order.

The modifications did not satisfy Mr. Trump’s critics.

“This isn’t about keeping America safe. Let’s call it what it is. This ban is a racist and anti-Islamic attempt to divide us up,” tweeted Sen. Bernard Sanders, the Vermont independent who emerged as a leading voice for the left after his 2016 run for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Another court challenge is likely for Mr. Trump’s order. Omar Jadwat, director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Immigrants’ Rights Project, said the new order had the “same fatal flaws” as the last one.

“The only way to actually fix the Muslim ban is not to have a Muslim ban,” he said. “Instead, President Trump has recommitted himself to religious discrimination, and he can expect continued disapproval from both the courts and the people.”

Jon Rainwater, executive director of the liberal activist group Peach Action, said the order was “the same Muslim ban with a fresh haircut, and a botched one at that.”

“It still blocks refugees and travelers from six Muslim-majority countries. It still violates core American values of religious tolerance and providing refuge to those fleeing violence and persecution. It still makes Americans less safe by feeding into the recruitment narratives of violent extremists,” he said. “There’s no evidence that banning travelers based on nationality actually protects anyone.”

The administration has delayed the signing as it works with federal agencies that will be responsible for enforcing the new order. The order on tougher vetting of travelers from terror-prone nations was one of Mr. Trump’s campaign pledges, and he signed the original order shortly after taking office. But a federal judge in Seattle blocked the action, and a panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the injunction. Since then, the administration has been working on a new directive while defending the initial order in court. In an address to Congress last week, Mr. Trump said his actions are justified due to national security concerns.

The extreme vetting program will include:

• Uniform screening standards for all immigration programs government-wide, as developed by DHS in conjunction with the Director of National Intelligence and State and Justice departments.

• A biometric entry-exit system for all targeted travelers entering and departing the U.S.

• A review by the State Department of all non-immigrant visa reciprocity agreements to ensure that they are, with respect to each visa classification, truly reciprocal.

• New restriction on the Visa Interview Waiver Program and additional non-immigrant visa applicants will have to undergo in-person interview.

The executive order also temporarily halts the acceptance of new refugees into the U.S. for 120 days while DHS and other agencies review screening procedures to ensure refugees admitted in the future do not pose a security risk, according to a fact sheet provided by the Trump administration. In another change from the original order, Syrian refugees will not be subject to a permanent ban.

Upon resumption of the Refugee Admissions Program, the executive order calls for refugee admissions not exceed 50,000 for fiscal 2017, cutting by more than half the 110,000 refugees projected to be admitted this year under Obama administration guidelines.

Supporting claims that the U.S. is at risk because of its refugee policies, administration officials said that of the FBI’s 1,000 ongoing anti-terrorism investigations, 300 cases involved suspected terrorists who came to the country as refugees.

Unlike the public signing ceremony for the original order that Mr. Trump attended at the Pentagon on Jan. 27, the president signed the new immigration order at the White House without press coverage.

Hundreds of people admitted to the United States as refugees are the subjects of FBI counterterrorism investigations involving ISIS – including some individuals from countries cited on President Trump’s revised travel ban. Trump’s order, which was announced late Monday morning, temporarily bans travel to those without valid visas from Sudan, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia and Yemen.

Nearly a third of the 1,000 FBI domestic terrorism cases – 300 – involve those admitted to the U.S. as refugees, a Department of Homeland Security official said Monday. That number was confirmed later in the day by Attorney General Jeff Sessions during a news conference. Officials said some of those 300 came to “infiltrate” the U.S., while others were radicalized once they were in the country.

“Like every nation, the United States has a right to control who enters our country and to keep out those who would do us harm,” Sessions said.

The officials who spoke Monday morning didn’t detail the current immigration status of those 300 people who were subjects of government terror probes, Reuters reported, citing a source.

One official also sought to clarify the apparent conflict with a leaked DHS report that appeared to show no connection between refugees and terrorism. The official said the draft document, which was reported by The Associated Press on Feb. 24, was not complete, had not been vetted through the interagency process and did not reflect classified information.

FBI Director James Comey said in late 2015 that some 900 terror investigations were going on, and probes were active in every state. But Monday’s development marked the first official concrete linkage between the refugee program and terrorism. At the time, Comey indicated the bureau was stretched thin by the sheer volume of investigations.

“If that becomes the new normal,” Comey said, “that would be hard to keep up.”

Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly said the travel ban announced Monday was a key to ansuring the refugee program is conducted safely.

“We must undertake a rigorous review of our visa and refugee vetting programs to increase our confidence in the entry decisions we make for visitors and immigrants to the United States,” Kelly said. “We cannot risk the prospect of malevolent actors using our immigration system to take American lives.”

Several refugees have already participated in mass attacks in recent years motivated by apparent Islamic radicalism.

  • Somali refugee Abdul Razak Ali Artan rammed his car into a crowd at The Ohio State University in November after posting a message on Facebook warning America not to interfere with Muslim communities.
  • Somali refugee Dahir Adan reportedly yelled “Allahu Akbar” and asked one victim if they were Muslim during a September rampage in which he stabbed and injured nine people at a Minnesota mall.
  • Seddique Mateen, the father of Pulse nightclub shooter Omar Mateen, is an Afghan refugee.
  • Countless other refugees have been convicted of plotting attacks or planning to join ISIS abroad.

Though they didn’t enter the nation as refugees, several other terrorists have benefited from inadequate vetting to come to the U.S.

  • Tashfeen Malik, who was born in Pakistan, came to the U.S. on a K-1 “fiancée” visa prior to engaging in a deadly shooting spree with husband Syed Rizwan Farook that killed 14 and injured 22 others in December 2015.
  • Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the brothers who orchestrated the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, were born in Kyrgyzstan and entered the U.S. when their family filed for asylum.

Illegal Immigration Giant

An illegal immigrant was arrested Thursday in Connecticut for sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl. Douglas Hus-Flores, a 19-year old Guatemalan living illegally in Stamford, Connecticut, was arrested just hours before a scheduled immigration hearing according to local police.

Hus-Flores admitted his crime to police, telling them he “felt lonely and wanted to be with a woman,” according to the police report.picture3

A little over a week ago, Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy issued a memo to the state’s law enforcement officers ordering them not to comply with federal immigration enforcement.

“Putting all opinions about this presidential executive order aside, its enforcement is going to have a local impact, especially given the constrained resources and financial impacts this will have on state and municipal budgets, which we already know are stretched to their limits, in addition to giving rise to serious concerns in affected communities,” Malloy said in a prepared statement.words-of-a-leftist-propagandist

Hus-Flores’ arrest came less than a week after the arrest of another illegal alien in Connecticut for a violent crime. Last Friday, Oscar Hernandez, an illegal alien deported previously for felony convictions, was arrested as the prime suspect in a double stabbing and kidnapping in Bridgeport.immigration-piper

News of the horrific crime in Stamford also comes just a day after two illegal aliens from El Salvador — members of the notorious MS-13 street gang — appeared in a Houston, Texas, court on charges of kidnapping and torturing one victim and the murder of another in what was allegedly a satanic ritual sacrifice. Also on Thursday, more than a dozen MS-13 gang members living in Long Island, New York most of whom are in the country illegally were indicted for the brutal murders of several area high school students.living-nextdoor-to-you

While few have noticed, U.S. airport security workers long had the option of using five different types of physical pat-downs at the screening line. Now those options have been eliminated and replaced with a single universal approach. This time, you will notice. The new physical touching—for those selected to have a pat-down—will be what the federal agency officially describes as a more “comprehensive” physical screening, according to a Transportation Security Administration spokesman.Oh good

Denver International Airport, for example, notified employees and flight crews on Thursday that the “more rigorous” searches “will be more thorough and may involve an officer making more intimate contact than before.”

“I would say people who in the past would have gotten a pat-down that wasn’t involved will notice that the [new] pat-down is more involved,” TSA spokesman Bruce Anderson said Friday. The shift from the previous, risk-based assessment on which pat-down procedure an officer should apply was phased in over the past two weeks after tests at smaller airports, he said.

The TSA screens about 2 million people daily at U.S. airports. The agency doesn’t track how many passengers are subject to pat-down searches after they pass through an imaging scanner. People who decline to use this screening technology are automatically subject to physical searches. While passengers may find the process more intrusive, the new screening procedure isn’t expected to increase overall airport security delays. However, “for the person who gets the pat down, it will slow them down,” Anderson said.

The change is partly a result of the agency’s study of a 2015 report that criticized aspects of TSA screening procedures. That audit, by the Department of Homeland Security’s Inspector General, drew headlines because airport officers had failed to detect handguns and other weapons. An additional change prompted by the report was the TSA’s decision to end its “managed inclusion” program, by which some everyday travelers were allowed to use PreCheck lanes to speed things up at peak times.

Physical screening has long been one of the traveling public’s strongest dislikes regarding airport security protocols. The TSA has all pat-downs conducted by an officer of the same sex as the traveler, and allows a passenger to request a private area for the screening, as well as to have a witness present. Likewise, the traveler can request that the pat-down occur in public view.

The new policy also applies to airline pilots and flight attendants, classified as “known crewmembers” who generally receive less scrutiny at checkpoints. The TSA conducts occasional random searches of these employees, and airlines this week inquired as to whether their employees would be subject to more frequent pat-downs. The number of random searches for airline crews isn’t changing and will remain a “very small percentage” of the total, Anderson said. But airport employees may face more random checks.

The random searches also vary by airport, depending on the screening program, Anderson said. “Sometimes it’s random, sometimes they’re consistent, based on the door you enter,” he said of the searches given workers with airport ID badges. “Sometimes, those measures call for a pat-down.”

In their notice, Denver airport officials said employees are subject to search at random locations: “If a pat down is required as part of the operation, badged employees will be required to comply with a TSA officer’s request to conduct a full body pat down.”

In December, a CNN political commentator, Angela Rye, posted an article online describing her “humiliation” during a TSA agent’s search. Rye wrote in graphic detail about the pat down of her genitals during a search at the Detroit Airport before a flight to New York.

TSA officials didn’t immediately address whether the new universal pat-down protocol will mandate touching of passenger genitals.

Shows you how different impressions of the same event can be. I didn’t leave the room once during the president’s address to a joint session of Congress Tuesday. But if I had to assess the behavior of the Democrats in attendance based on the available evidence, which was the occasional cutaway to the audience, the word I would use to describe it would be petulant.

Apparently I’m not alone in that perception. The Wall Street Journal’s James Freeman made this observation:

[House Minority Leader Nancy] Pelosi and her colleagues obviously decided before the event that they would provide television cameras with reaction shots expressing their disapproval or even contempt for the President. He caught them off guard by delivering a big-hearted, moving and gracious address, but they seemed unable to react in real time. The pantsuit caucus and their equally grumpy male Democratic colleagues continued to sit, frown and offer tepid applause or none at all even for lines that would be objectionable.

For those who might beg to differ, Freeman provides a tweet by Pelosi several hours before the speech indicating that the wearing of white was intended as a thumb in Donald Trump’s eye:

Nevertheless, there are those who saw the Democrats’ behavior differently. One commentator went so far as to describe their deportment as dignified. That would be “conservative” TV host Joe Scarborough, who had Pelosi on as a guest yesterday. Maybe he planted the seed but when it was Pelosi’s turn to speak again, she picked up on the dignity meme:

What I was concerned is, people might boo, because, for all of the dignity that we wanted to bring to the address of the president, the fact is, I had no idea he was going to make an assault on public education, that he was going to have nothing positive to say about immigration, that he’s going to blow up the deficit. [Emphasis added]special-kind-of-retard

I will grant that the Democrats stopped short of giving Donald Trump a Bronx cheer, but raising their arms to make their thumbs-down gestures more visible comes pretty close.

Tell governors: Block Trump’s war on immigrants

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has built the blueprint for Trump’s mass deportations. Governors must do everything in their power to disrupt their plans.

DHS just released memos that turn Trump’s anti-immigrant executive orders into policy. The memos empower federal immigration officers to target almost every undocumented immigrant for detention and immediate deportation, expand Trump’s deportation army by 10,000 agents and encourage local law enforcement to collaborate with federal immigration officers.1

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is already terrorizing immigrant communities.2 With these new policies, DHS is unleashing and emboldening a dangerous, unaccountable deportation force. States have the power to slow them down. Speak out now to demand that governors take bold action.

Tell governors: Protect immigrants. Refuse to comply with DHS’ racist anti-immigrant policies.

ICE is a terrifying rogue agency. For much of the last eight years, ICE agents flouted Obama administration enforcement priorities. Now the Trump administration is giving ICE sweeping permission to harass and attack all undocumented immigrants at will.

In recent days, ICE agents have arrested and detained:

    • a Chicago father whose criminal record only includes traffic violations;3
    • a woman at a Texas hospital undergoing treatment for a brain tumor;4
    • men leaving a church’s overnight hypothermia shelter in Alexandria;5 and
    • a transgender woman who was obtaining a restraining order against a violent partner at an El Paso courthouse.6

Even though the DHS memos protect the legal status of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, ICE arrested and detained DACA recipient Daniel Ramirez Medina in Seattle.7 This is not normal. This is not okay.

Tell governors: Protect immigrants. Refuse to comply with DHS’ racist anti-immigrant policies.

Fortunately, some state leaders are already standing up to protect immigrants. For example, Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee have barred state agencies from cooperating with and aiding federal immigration enforcement.8 California state lawmakers are pushing an omnibus immigration bill through the legislature that would ban state resources from being used to enforce federal immigration laws.

Governors have a choice: Enable Trump’s agenda of criminalization and deportations, or resist and obstruct Trump’s racist regime at every turn. Help make sure governors do the right thing. Add your name now.

    Thank you for speaking out.

A record 16 out of 100 Navy women are reassigned from ships to shore duty due to pregnancy, according to data obtained under the Freedom of Information Act by The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group. That number is up 2 percent from 2015, representing hundreds more who have to cut their deployments short, taxing both their unit’s manpower, military budgets and combat readiness. Further, such increases cast a shadow over the lofty gender integration goals set by former President Barack Obama.death-of-a-military

Overall, women unexpectedly leave their stations on Navy ships as much as 50% more frequently to return to land duty, according to documents obtained from the Navy. The statistics were compiled by the Navy Personnel Command at the request of TheDCNF, covering the period from January 2015 to September 2016.

The evacuation of pregnant women is costly for the Navy. Jude Eden, a nationally known author about women in the military who served in 2004 as a Marine deployed to Iraq said a single transfer can cost the Navy up to $30,000 for each woman trained for a specific task, then evacuated from an active duty ship and sent to land. That figure translates into $115 million in expenses for 2016 alone.

“This is an avoidable cost and expense, leaving a gap for other people to pick up the work slack,” Eden said. “A pregnancy takes you out of action for about two years. And there’s no replacement,” said Elaine Donnelly, president of the Center for Military Readiness, a nonpartisan public policy organization. “So everybody else has to work all that harder,” adding that on small ships and on submarines, “you really have a potential crew disaster.”engineering

Navy Lt. Cmdr. Nathan Christensen told TheDCNF the Navy tries to plan for the unplanned.

“Just as we deal with other unplanned manning losses due to injury or other hardships, we work to ensure that pregnant service members are taken care of and that commands are equipped to fulfill their missions when an unexpected loss occurs,” he said.

In January 2015, 3,335 women were pregnant aboard military vessels, representing about 14 percent of the 23,735 women then serving such duty, according to the data. But by August 2016 that number reached nearly 16 percent, an all-time high. The Navy reported 3,840 of the 24,259 women sailors who were aboard Navy ships were pregnant. Not okay

The Obama administration understated the pregnancy problem throughout its eight years and even suppressed some data about the impact of its “gender-neutral” policies on the Navy. For decades, for instance, the Navy published results from exhaustive surveys of 25,000 men and women in a document called the “Navy Pregnancy and Parenthood Survey.” The reports once were 75 to 100 pages long and disclosed attitudes among men and women and their behavior.  However, the Obama administration published only brief two to three-page summaries from 2012 onward.of-course-they-did

A civilian attached to the Navy Personnel, Research, Studies and Technology group, which researched and published the surveys, told TheDCNF full reports were completed regularly even though it’s detailed findings were not released to the public. The individual requested anonymity.

“The military has been tight lipped over the years about these numbers. They don’t like to publicize them,” Eden told TheDCNF.

The Navy has been dogged for years by lingering claims that some women get pregnant simply to avoid deployment.

We all know that happens. Women do it to avoid deployment,” Eden told TheDCNF.

“There do seem to be coincidences,” said Donnelly. “There is a lot of anecdotal evidence.”

“This information is considered so sensitive. You just don’t talk about it. And you don’t ask. It’s just something that everybody knows occurs. Don’t ask, don’t tell,” Donnelly said. She served on the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services and on the Presidential Commission on the Assignment of Women in the Armed Forces.picture1

The sudden departure of pregnant women aboard military vessels severely hurts military readiness and morale for those left behind and who must pick up the slack. The expecting sailors must be transferred from a ship after the 20th week of pregnancy. The Navy officially considered pregnancy incompatible with military service and women who became pregnant were automatically discharged, according to The Alliance for National Defense. However, with the introduction of the all-volunteer military, the Navy provided many lucrative incentives to men and women — including free housing, medical care, recreation and educational opportunities.

But women got additional benefits, including free prenatal care, daycare, counseling, and special education for toddlers and children with disabilities or for other “special needs.”What did you say 07.jpg

“Since benefits offered to recruits who are women are so very generous, it almost becomes an incentive,” said Donnelly. “One feminist advocate many years ago referred to the military as a ‘Mecca for single moms.’”

“I think there are so many carrots. The military has become a modern-day jobs program,” Eden said.

Obama during his eight years in office sought to increase dramatically the number of women on ships. In May 2015, Admiral Michelle Howard announced a quota of 25% women on all ships. “We’re going back and looking at the ships — all of them — and what percentage of women are on the ships. Over time, we’ll modernize them to make sure we get to about 25 percent on each ship,” she said.death-of-a-military

Former Navy Secretary Ray Mabus in September 2015 pushed the new policy, stating that the Navy SEALs and all other combat jobs in the Navy should be open to women, with no exemptions as part of the Pentagon’s new “gender-neutral” employment policy.engineering

Eden believes the policy of increasing women on ships results in failure. “It’s bad policy when you think of ships that have to be battle-ready and then have to transfer women off for pregnancy — something that has to do with controlled behavior or voluntary behavior,” she said.

It is unclear how President Donald Trump’s Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis will handle women in the military. He has been a skeptic, but also said during his confirmation hearing he would support a combat role for women.

    Lt. Col. Khallid Shabazz

In one of the most head-scratching turn of events in recent military history, the Army has decided that the man most capable of handling the spiritual needs of 14,000 mostly Christian soldiers is Muslim chaplain Lt. Col. Khallid Shabazz.

Sure, there are about 1,400 other chaplains (only 10 of whom are Muslim), but Shabazz has apparently done something that gives his Army superiors confidence that he’s the best man for the job.

Army Lt. Col. Khallid Shabazz, a Muslim chaplain, has accepted the job of handling the spiritual affairs of 14,000 mostly Christian soldiers.

Shabazz recounted to McClatchy the offer he received to lead the 7th Infantry Division at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

“I’m on the phone saying, ‘Thank you, I appreciate it. I’ll serve honorably,’ and then I hang up the phone and I’m jumping all around like a little kid,” Shabazz said. “I was running around the office saying, al hamdulillah, al hamdulillah, praise be to God!”

Out of 1,400 chaplains in the Army, only five are Muslim. And across all the services, there are only ten Muslim chaplains total.

“When you get the call saying you have been bestowed a division, the news is kind of like, unearthly,” Shabazz added. “The list is so small and it’s such a tough cut.”

For those concerned about the odd juxtaposition of a Muslim being in charge of the spiritual care of Christian soliders, Shabazz reminds everyone that he used to be a Christian and so he can speak to their problems using Christian language and Scripture without violating his own faith. He also recounts the story of his Christian mentor who made him promise to be a fair-minded chaplain.picture3

When he was commissioned, Shabazz said, his mentor pulled him aside for a talk.

“He said, ‘Promise me you will be an advocate for our corps no matter what the faith or the background of the person is,’ ” Shabazz recalled. “It moved me to the very essence of my core. Here you have a devout Christian who’s taken the time to care for a young Muslim soldier and make sure I got to be a chaplain. I don’t want to help just Muslims. I don’t want to help just Christians. I want to help people who are in distress.”

Shabazz has also gone a long way to reassure everyone that he has no interest in converting the soldiers who come to him for counsel, even if they may be sharing their deepest most intimate feelings and fears.

“My job is not to convert anybody to Islam. God guides people. My only goal is to have people leave my office stronger than when they came in.”

Sometimes, though, soldiers do convert and turn to Shabazz for guidance as they enter Islam. One of the most unusual conversions came just three months ago, Shabazz said. A master sergeant in the Special Forces – a man who’d come to no Friday prayers or study groups – showed up, crying, to meet with Shabazz. He told the imam he was ready to take shahada, the modest ritual to officially accept Islam.

“He said, ‘I heard you’re a good chaplain. I’ve been thinking about Islam for about three years,’ ” Shabazz recalled. “I took him down to the mosque, he took shahada and I’ve never seen him again.”culture of deceit and lies

While this may seem like simply another step in the integration of Islam into Western culture, it’s just not so. As we’ve seen time and time again, Islam as an ideology is incompatible with Western culture. The beliefs, philosophies, and ideals of Islam are contrary to the beliefs, philosophies, and ideals of Western and American culture. On another level, the decision to give a Muslim chaplain charge of the spiritual affairs of an entire division is simply irresponsible. Instead, Chaplain Shabazz should have simply been given charge of the Muslim soldiers in the division, and one of the many qualified Christian candidates should have been given the duty to care for the mostly Christian division.

Bowing to political correctness in a matter as serious as the spiritual care of our soldiers is not simply foolish, but it is immoral and unethical. Our soldiers deserve better.picture4 Islam is NOT

    Carryn Owens President’s Speech

Taya Kyle, the widow of American Sniper Chris Kyle, appeared on Fox News Wednesday evening to decry the liberal attacks on Carryn Owens, the widow of U.S. Navy SEAL William “Ryan” Owens, who was killed in Yemen in January.

During President Trump’s speech to the joint session of Congress, the President honored Owens and his family for the sacrifices they have made for their nation. In a heartfelt and touching display, the President praised the fallen soldier and promised his wife that her husband would never be forgotten.

Sadly, in the aftermath of those comments, unhinged liberals across the media spectrum have been attacking and demeaning both the President and the Owens family. They claim that the President was simply using the fallen hero as a “prop” and they’ve denigrated Carryn Owens for being too naïve to realize she was being used.marxist-socialist-leftist-tyranny-hate-groups

For example, Democrat activist Dan Grilo immediately tweeted, “Sorry, Owens’ wife, you’re not helping yourself or your husband’s memory by standing there and clapping like an idiot. Trump just used you.”more-words

But it wasn’t just Grilo saying ridiculous and disgusting things; the same kind of commentary could be heard coming from the talking heads at MSNBC.

Hopefully MSNBC and their stable of ignorant and unfeeling liberals will face the ire of the American consumer for their horrible comments about Trump’s decision to honor Owens and his family.

White House officials scrambled in the final days of the Obama administration to spread information across the government about Russian meddling in the election — and possible contacts between Trump associates and Russians, The New York Times reported.

The effort was to thwart any future meddling, and to leave a “clear trail of intelligence for government investigators,” the Times reported.leading-propaganda-generator

According to the Times, the information included that from American allies, including the British and the Dutch, describing meetings in European cities between Russian officials — and others close to Russia’s president Vladimir Putin – and Trump associates, the Times reported, citing three unnamed former American officials.

Separately, American intelligence agencies had intercepted communications of Russian officials, some of them within the Kremlin, discussing contacts with Trump associates, the Times reported.

According to the Times, some people in the Obama White House worried the intelligence could be covered up or destroyed — or its sources exposed — once power changed hands. The Times reported the push by intelligence agencies aimed to process as much raw intelligence as possible into analyses, and to keep the reports at a relatively low level of classification to ensure as wide a readership as possible across the government — and, in some cases, among European allies.

“This allowed the upload of as much intelligence as possible to Intellipedia, a secret wiki used by American intelligence analysts to share information,” the Times reported.words-of-a-leftist-propagandist

White House spokesman Sean Spicer responded, “The only new piece of information that has come to light is that political appointees in the Obama administration have sought to create a false narrative to make an excuse for their own defeat in the election.” “There continues to be no there, there.”

The FBI is conducting an investigation into Russia meddling in the election, and separately, the House and Senate intelligence committees are conducting their own probes.

The Senate on Thursday confirmed Ben Carson to be President Trump’s secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The final vote was 58-41. Carson needed a simple majority to be approved.

Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin (W.Va.), Mark Warner (Va.), Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.), Sherrod Brown (Ohio), Jon Tester (Mont.), Joe Donnelly (Ind.) and Independent Sen. Angus King (Maine) joined all Republicans in backing Carson. Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) did not vote.
The former neurosurgeon wasn’t a top target for Senate Democrats. But Carson’s nomination and lack of government experience has divided the caucus.
Top Democrats — including Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) and Sen. Dick Durbin (Ill.) — voted against Carson’s nomination earlier this week.

But red-state Democrats, including Manchin, Donnelly and Heitkamp, voted with Republicans to support him.

Republicans have rallied around Carson’s nomination. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) predicted ahead of the vote that he would be confirmed with bipartisan support. “[He] can begin bringing much needed reforms to the Department of Housing and Urban Development,” he said from the Senate floor.
Sen. Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) also urged his colleagues to support Carson. “Once Dr. Carson is confirmed we can begin working on several important issues under HUD’s jurisdiction,” he said.
Carson easily cleared the Senate Banking Committee in late January, picking up the support of liberal senators elizabeth-lieawatha-warrenincluding Brown and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.). Warren defended her committee vote amid backlash from progressive outside groups, writing on a Facebook post: “Yes, he is not the nominee I wanted. But ‘the nominee I wanted’ is not the test.” Warren didn’t vote for Carson during the Senate’s procedural vote on Wednesday, and she voted against him again Thursday.
Carson’s nomination has been largely free of controversy. Senators only questioned Carson for 2 1/2 hours during his confirmation hearing, in contrast to more controversial picks — including Attorney General Jeff Sessions — who faced hours of intense grilling. Democrats have voiced public skepticism about Carson’s qualifications, noting that the onetime presidential candidate also previously questioned whether he was fit to run a federal agency.
“Having me as a federal bureaucrat would be like a fish out of water,” he said in November, on the heels of rumors that he would be considered for Trump’s Cabinet.
Carson, a conservative Christian, also received some criticism for suggesting that LGBT Americans don’t deserve “extra rights.” picture2
But neither impeded his nomination. Crapo thanked Brown from the Senate floor for being willing to work with him to get Carson to the Senate floor for a vote.  It is unclear how Carson will shape the agency. He told lawmakers in his confirmation hearing that he wants to have “listening sessions” with housing officials around the country. He was also noncommittal about upholding an Obama-era rule that beefed up a fair housing law.

Senate confirms Perry for Energy secretary / © Getty Images

The Senate on Thursday confirmed Rick Perry to lead the Energy Department — an agency he once pledged to eliminate. Perry, the former Texas governor and a two-time Republican presidential candidate, was confirmed on a 62-37 vote.

The Senate confirmed Perry after only a few hours of debate on Thursday afternoon, moving unexpectedly quickly on the final cabinet-level member of President Trump’s energy and environment team.
During a Republican primary debate in 2011, Perry listed the three federal agencies he would abolish as president but famously forgot the Energy Department, quipping, “oops.” But after Trump nominated him to lead the department in December, Perry said he had reconsidered the importance of the agency, which supports energy research and oversees the nation’s nuclear arsenal.

“My past statements made over five years ago about abolishing the Department of Energy do not reflect my current thinking,” Perry said at his January confirmation hearing.
“In fact, after being briefed on so many of the vital functions of the Department of Energy, I regret recommending its elimination.”
Republicans supported Perry’s nomination, applauding his support of the Texas energy sector during his time as governor and saying his experience in Austin means he can effectively lead a $30 billion, 14,400-person department.
“He will hold his employees and contractors accountable. We know that he will be a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars,” Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) said during floor debate on Thursday.
“I think that he will work to continue to break down the research silos that have really frustrated the department and work to find ways that there can be greater collaboration — greater working together — and I’m also confident that he will pursue policies that will ultimately provide us with more stable sources of energy.”
    solid-foundation-600-wlogo
Democrats said they are concerned about Perry’s views on climate change and his support for climate research in the department. The Trump administration has previously hinted at potential deep cuts for the Energy Department, something Democrats contend Perry will struggle to resist.
“I take Gov. Perry at this word that he has been briefed on all the functions of the Department of Energy and that he does not believe it should be abolished, as he once articulated,” Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) said.
“But, as I said, his testimony leaves a lot to question about whether he will fight for these essential programs in a Trump administration who have already tried to target these agencies and programs to be defunded.”
The Senate confirmed Perry after only about three hours of debate on Thursday, moving his nomination quicker than any other energy or environment official in Trump’s cabinet.
Senators confirmed Ryan Zinke to lead the Interior Department on Wednesday. Scott Pruitt became administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency in February.
Democratic Sens. Mark Warner (Va.), Joe Manchin (W.Va.), Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.), Tom Udall (N.M.), Catherine Cortez Masto (Nev.), Debbie Stabenow (Mich.), Claire McCaskill (Mo.), Jon Tester (Mont.), Tom Carper (Del.) and Joe Donnelly (Ind.), and Independent Sen. On February 26th, President Trump told those in attendance at the Governors’ Dinner at the White House, that he plans to rebuild our depleted military. That rebuilding includes increases in shipbuilding, increases in military aircraft, and increases in our troop sizes.  Trump plans to also increase our defense spending by 10% to $54 billion.

It’s no suprise that 60% our military personnel believe Obama’s decreases in military personnel, withdrawal of combat troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, along with his “lack of focus” made America less safe. Trump’s about to change that….BIG LEAGUE!

Trump loves the military and has shown he has a new level of respect that our military personnel have not seen in the last 8 years. President Trump shared some of that respect recently when a class of Green Beret candidates visited the White House.

    green-berets-640x480

    H/T Conservative Tribune:

The 18 Army officers in the Special Forces Qualification Course, or “Q-course” were visiting the National Security Council, when Deputy Assistant to the President Sebastian Gorka suggested they meet the President.

“Halfway through the discussion, (Trump) said, ‘Hey — we’re not supposed to do this but follow me,’ and he brought them all into the Oval Office, took a group photograph around the Resolute desk, and then — throwing the schedules into a bit of a tizzy, said, ‘OK, that’s not good enough,’” Deputy Assistant to the President Sebastian Gorka explained.now-thats-my-president

Given all of the photos of Trump meeting with people in the Oval Office that have come out over the past month, this may not seem like a huge deal, but in fact it truly is. This was the first time in the Green Beret course’s history that candidates were inside the Oval Office. Nothing like this ever came close to happening under President Barack Obama.

“He said, ‘everybody stand in the corner.’ They all stood in the corner, and one-by-one we took photographs they can take home to their family with each future Green Beret next to the president at the Oval Office desk,” Gorka explained.now-thats-my-president

What makes this story even more amazing was the fact that Trump kept this Feb. 7 meeting private. No photos have been released, and the Trump-hating press pool didn’t report on it, even though it was announced a day before it occurred. Trump could have used the opportunity as a publicity stunt, but instead he chose to (attempt) to keep it a private affair. That’s one hallmark of a real leader.now-thats-my-president

“That’s how much he loves our soldiers — our warriors,” he said. Gorka had earlier brought up Cz5orEtUkAA9-VK-800x437the meeting during remarks on a panel at the 2017 Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday. Under Obama, he said, they “wouldn’t have even gotten into the West Wing.

This ISN’T Obama’s America any more. With President Trump in the White House, America will see, not only will our military be rebuilt, but there will be more respect for our military and the morale of our troops will be increased. It’s time to ‘Make America Great Again’….and that includes making our military the best in the world!

Thank you, Mr. President for treating some of America’s finest…like the finest! God Bless Our Military!now-thats-my-president

waving flag disclaimerCommentary by  Ann Coulter

URL of the original posting site: http://humanevents.com/2017/03/01/how-to-provide-universal-health-care-using-this-one-easy-trick/

The first sentence of Congress’ Obamacare repeal should read: “There shall be a free market in health insurance.”

Right there, I’ve solved the health insurance crisis for 90 percent of Americans. Unfortunately, no one can imagine what a free market in health care looks like because we haven’t had one for nearly a century.

On NBC’s “Meet the Press” this weekend, for example, Chuck Todd told Sen. Tom Cotton that his proposal to create affordable health care that would be widely available, “sounds good,” but “do you understand why some people think that’s an impossible promise to keep?”words-of-a-leftist-propagandist

(The “do you understand …?” formulation is a condescension reserved only for conservatives, whose disagreement with liberals is taken as a sign of stupidity.)

Todd continued: “To make it affordable, making it wider, I mean, that just seems like — you know, it seems like you’re selling something that can’t be done realistically.”

Dream Sequence: Chuck Todd on Russia’s “Meet the Press” after the fall of the Soviet Union: “Do you understand why some people think that’s an impossible promise to keep? To make bread affordable, making it wider, I mean, that just seems like — you know, it seems like you’re selling something that can’t be done realistically.”

It turns out that, outside of a communist dictatorship, all sorts of products are affordable AND widely available! We don’t need Congress to “provide” us with health care any more than we need them to “provide” us with bread. What we need is for health insurance to be available on the free market.

With lots of companies competing for your business, basic health insurance would cost about $50 a month. We know the cost because Christian groups got a waiver from Obamacare, and that’s how much their insurance costs right now. (Under the law, it can’t be called “insurance,” but that’s what it is.)

Even young, healthy people would buy insurance at that price, expanding the “risk-sharing pools” and probably bringing the cost down to $20 or $30 a month.

In a free market, there would be an endless variety of consumer-driven plans, from catastrophic care for the risk-oblivious to extravagant plans for the risk-averse. You know — just like every other product in America.

You should visit America sometime, Chuck! The orange juice aisle in a Texas grocery store knocked the socks off Russian president Boris Yeltsin. (Imagine how cheap a double screwdriver must be in America!)

Just as there are rows of different types of orange juice in the grocery store –- and loads of grocery stores — there will be loads of health insurance plans and insurance companies offering them.

Americans would finally be able to buy whatever insurance plans they liked, as easily as they currently buy flat-screen TVs, cellphones and — what’s that product with the cute gecko in its commercials? I remember now! CAR INSURANCE!

Evidently, insurance is not impervious to the iron law of economics that every product sold on the free market gets better and cheaper over time. The only complicated part of fixing health care is figuring out how to take care of the other 10 percent of Americans — the poor, the irresponsible and the unlucky. And the only reason that is complicated is because of fraud.

Needless to say, the modern nanny state already guarantees that no one will die on the street in America. The taxpayer spends more than a trillion dollars every year on Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security disability insurance so that everyone’s health is taken care of, from cradle to grave. Unfortunately, probably at least half of that sum is fraud.

    Policing fraud is difficult because:

    (1) the bureaucrats dispensing government benefits believe there is no fraud and, if there is, it’s a good thing because it redistributes income; and

    (2) we keep bringing in immigrants for whom fraud is a way of life. (See “Adios, America! The Left’s Plan to Turn Our Country Into a Third World Hellhole.”)

Consequently, after the first sentence establishing a free market in health insurance, the entire rest of the bill should be nothing but fraud prevention measures to ensure that only the truly deserving — and the truly American — are accessing taxpayer-supported health care programs.

I’d recommend sending as much as possible back to the states, and also paying bounties to anyone who exposes a fraud against Medicare, Medicaid or Social Security. Anyone caught committing health care fraud should get 10 years. Not in prison, in a Medicaid doctor’s waiting room.

But I’m sure you guys in Congress have come up with lots of great ideas for policing fraud in the SEVEN YEARS you’ve had to think about it. (Hello? Is he breathing? Dammit, I’m not getting a pulse!!) Then, Congress can start removing all the bad stuff from the U.S. Code, such as:

    — the requirement that hospitals provide “free” care to anyone who shows up (how about separate health clinics for poor people with the sniffles?);

    — the exemption of insurance companies from the antitrust laws (where all our problems began); and

    — the tax breaks only for employer-provided health insurance (viciously and arbitrarily punishing the self-employed).

The goal of “universal health care” is very simple to achieve, just as the goal of “universal wearing of clothing” seems to have been taken care of. The government can provide for those who can’t provide for themselves, but the rest of us need to be allowed to buy health insurance on the free market — an innovation that has made America the richest, most consumer-friendly country in the world.

It’s taken 50 years, but, thanks to Hillary’s losing the election, we finally have liberals on the record opposing the Soviet Union. Can’t all of Washington come together and end our soviet health care system?

There are no greater visions of revival outside the scriptures than those of the open air preaching of England.  Men like Wesley’s, Whitfield, and others called their countrymen to repentance.  Many were saved, even though most of what they preached was not well accepted in their day.

It is no surprise that this situation is returning to England.  But, now the preaching is illegal.  Open air “preaching” must be non-offensive.  Do not scare or alarm the sinner.  And two men are finding out just how expensive it can be offending someone in Britain.

    Christian News reports

Two street preachers who were arrested last July on accusations of “causing a disturbance” and engaging in “anti-social behavior” after some listeners became offended by their speech about issues such as Islam, Buddhism, homosexuality and divorce have been found guilty of “intentionally alarming” the public with open-air preaching.

The verdict against Michael Overd of the U.K. and Michael Stockwell of the U.S. was handed down Tuesday in Bristol Magistrates’ Court. They were fined $4202.98 each.

During their trial, prosecutor Ian Jackson “told the court some of the statements made by the preachers may have been in the King James Bible, translated in 1611, but that did not mean they were acceptable in 2016,” according to the Daily Mail.combined truth-hate-speech

What this verdict means is that there will be a second thought for those preaching.  Whether they are completely honest when asked about forgiveness will have to be weighed in their minds.  Will it be worth the cost?

The Liberal government of Britain does not want the gospel to be given, unfiltered to the people.  They do not mind that they be Christian, as long as it is in title only.  True repentance in England would likely mean the thieves/politicians would be out on their bums.

So much for freedom of speech.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) says he’s seen no evidence that the Trump campaign coordinated with the Russian government before the election. (AP File Photo)

(CNSNews.com) – Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), chair of the House intelligence committee, told reporters on Monday that there is no evidence that any campaign officials — from either the Trump or the Clinton campaigns — had any contact with the Russian government or Russian agents before the election.

Nunes called the Monday news conference to refute a Feb. 14 report in the New York Times that said: “[M]embers of Trump’s presidential campaign and other Trump associates had repeated contacts with senior Russian intelligence officials in the year before the election.” The Times said it based its reporting on information provided by “four current and former American officials,” all of them unnamed.enemedia

“We still have not seen any evidence of anyone that’s from the Trump campaign or any other campaign, for that matter, that’s communicated with the Russian government,” Nunes said.

Nunes also said there’s nothing wrong with White House officials asking him to speak to reporters about the issue. Being transparent with the press doesn’t compromise the intelligence committee’s ongoing investigation into alleged Trump-Russian ties, he said.

Nunes said he’s more concerned about “major leaks that have occurred here,” including Trump’s leaked phone conversation with the Australian prime minister and Michael Flynn’s post-election conversation with the Russian ambassador to the U.S.

Nunes said we’ve known for a long time that the Russians are “very interested in manipulating elections, manipulating the press, they’re very good at propaganda.”

And he said the situation definitely requires scrutiny: “And we do need to know if there are any Americans that are talking to the Russians or anybody connected to the Russian government or Russian agents, but at this time, I want to be very careful that we can’t just go on a witch hunt against Americans because they appear in a news story somewhere.”

Nunes said he would have preferred for his committee’s “long, ongoing investigation into Russian activities” to be private, not out in the public.

“Since the election, we’ve broadened the scope of that investigation to include any involvement in our elections here, and of course, any ties that there might be to any government officials at any level, so it’s not just here in Washington but governors and others. If there’s anything out there, any American citizens from political campaigns coordinating with the Russian government, we clearly would want to know that and we would want to investigate it.”

Nunes also said he opposes the appointment of a special prosecutor to look into the alleged Trump-Russian connections.

“I think the history of special prosecutors is mixed,” he said. “And at this point, what are we going to appoint a special prosecutor to do exactly? To chase stories of American citizens that end up in newspaper articles?”

Nunes said if it turns out that serious crimes have been committed, then appointing a special prosecutor would be something his committee would consider. “But at this point…the only serious crimes we have are leaks that have come out of our government.”

President Trump met with numerous presidents of historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) at the White House on Monday. Trump signed an executive order that would result in the government issuing more contracts and grants to HBCUs. McClatchy’s article carried the headline: “Donald Trump will try to outdo Obama in backing black colleges.” From McClatchy:

“It would be truly, truly historic,” said Leonard Haynes, a longtime educator who ran the office and is helping to write the executive order. “It’s part of a long time dream…none of (the other presidents) had the courage to do it.”

Though African-Americans overwhelmingly support Democrats at the polls, many education experts credit Republican leaders for helping to improve HBCUs, the common shorthand for historically black schools.

Some black college administrators say they were disappointed in President Barack Obama for not making the schools a priority and, in some cases, harming their financial health and contributing to declining enrollment with the changes he made to loan programs.

Some campuses are struggling, suffering from budget cuts, low endowments, aging facilities and fiscal mismanagement.

The schools receive money from the federal government through grants, contracts, appropriations and student aid. They received $4.7 billion in federal financial assistance in 2013, according to the latest annual report available. The money accounted for 2.8 percent of federal funds awarded to all institutions of higher education.

Obviously, it was a big deal, considering the media narrative that Trump and his administration – particularly Steve Bannon – are a bunch of white supremacist Nazis. So, it’s no surprise that some media networks wanted to focus on a more serious scandal – that of Kellyanne Conway sitting on the couch in the Oval Office…with her shoes on the couch. (gasp!)

Breitbart noted: “Leading the pack was Buzzfeed’s Deputy news director Jon Passantino, who said ‘Conservatives were pissed Obama put his feet on Oval Office desk. Watch their reaction tonight.’”

No, we’re not talking about a poll from a Republican outfit, and we’re not talking about a survey from a “right wing” website. The poll we’re talking about is from is from a mainstream media outlet.

The latest poll from the folks at NBC and the Wall Street Journal has revealed some shocking information that NBC has chosen to spin in an effort to make the President look bad. Here’s what NBC’s headline had to say about their poll…

Trump’s Job Approval Stands at Just 44 Percent as Partisan Splits Reignmore-leftist-propaganda

Oh no. Sounds like it must have been a rough poll for the President, doesn’t it? This is where NBC focuses their reporting on this poll — the fact that Trump’s numbers aren’t great and that Democrats don’t support him at all. But if they would have just dug a little deeper into their own numbers, they might have learned a very different set of lessons. They might have learned that the majority of those polled (53%) believe that the media has been too critical of Trump and has “exaggerated” the problems in the Trump administration. Or they might have noticed that the majority of Americans (52%) believe that President Trump and the GOP should be taking the lead in setting policy for our nation!

If NBC had been worried about writing something more than a hit piece against President Trump, they might have also noticed that more Americans have been “harmed” by Obamacare than have been helped.

But the real “nail in the coffin” for this poll can be seen when examining those dreaded “popularity” numbers that the media loves to focus on. While the liberals are busy crowing about how unpopular President Trump is, it’s worth noting that he’s far MORE popular than most of the Democrat leadership and more popular than the Democrat Party as a whole!

In fact, Guy Benson at Townhall perfectly explains just how upside-down NBC’s reporting on their own poll actually is.

The president’s approval rating is slightly underwater (44/48), a figure that is leavened by fairly widespread optimism about the future of the country and US economy.   Sixty percent say they’re “hopeful and optimistic” about America, with 40 percent calling themselves “worried and pessimistic.”  By a similar 20-point margin, more Americans say they expect the economy to improve over the next year, with only one-in-five expecting it to worsen.  In certain circles, it’s taken for granted that the sky is falling, but that sentiment simply hasn’t taken root among most Americans.  Liberal Bubble-dwellers believe the nation has galvanized against Trump, with pervasive buyers’ remorse setting in; this data punctures that illusion.  As for favorability, despite all the news coverage painting Trump as a train wreck, Republicans as craven enablers, and Democrats as righteous opponents, Trump and his allies are in much better shape than the Democratic Party…

This poll may be used as evidence that the President is unpopular, but it’s better evidence of the fact that our national media has completely lost its mind when it comes to Donald Trump. While Trump may not be Mr. Popular, the majority of the American people would rather walk the path being laid out by Trump and the GOP than to continue down the road to ruin from the Obama era.enemedia

State of the Union Addresses are usually full of carefully-crafted platitudes presenting the president’s agenda in a unifying tone from a position of strength. Typically, no new ground is plowed at these events. In recent years, they have fallen flat for presidents of both parties. But given that Trump is such an unconventional president, a conventional policy speech — carefully crafted with a serious but upbeat tone — is exactly what he needed in order to recover his stalled momentum.

In many ways this was the best speech he has given to date. In fact, it was a perfect presentation of his agenda. To be clear, not all of his agenda is conservative, but that is already baked into the cake. Amidst a month of endless muddled messaging, ramblings about the media, Republican infighting, and competing factions within his own administration, last night was his only opportunity to take his message directly to the American people. It was also a time to move beyond campaign rhetoric and embrace the reality of his party controlling all of government and the need for a forward-looking message.

Here are my quick observations on the policy aspects of the speech, divided into what conservatives should consider good and bad..

    THE GOOD

    1. Immigration:

Coming into the speech, rumors were swirling in the media that Trump would embrace some sort of amnesty. Not only did that not occur, but Trump reclaimed the term “immigration reform” and used it to describe what the word truly means: finally restoring our immigration system to its historical values before Ted Kennedy destroyed it. That means only admitting immigrants who love our values, do not become a public charge, and do not threaten our way of life. It also means implementing a sane legal immigration system that is not based on chain migration. He put Democrats on defense so that they will have to explain why they oppose merit-based immigration.. For those of us who’ve worked on this issue for years, this speech was just what the doctor ordered.

    2. Refugees:

Trump spoke to the morality, not just the legality, of his immigration moratorium, which we called on him to do earlier this week. As Trump said,

“It is not compassionate, but reckless, to allow uncontrolled entry from places where proper vetting cannot occur. Those given the high honor of admission to the United States should support this country and love its people and its values.” He also charted a completely new path on the entire premise and goal of refugee policy: “The only long-term solution for these humanitarian disasters is to create the conditions where displaced persons can safely return home and begin the long process of rebuilding.”

    3. Obamacare:

Earlier today, I laid down the gauntlet for Trump to finally speak directly to the problems of Obamacare. I argued he needed to call for full repeal and hold Democrats accountable for creating this disaster but then blocking its solution. Trump did not disappoint in the macro-messaging. The guiding principles he laid out on health care were sound. He actually touched on the central point missed by GOP congressional leadership — that we should focus on lowering costs rather than expanding coverage as an end to itself, saying: “The way to make health insurance available to everyone is to lower the cost of health insurance, and that is what we will do.” Unfortunately, he contradicted that messaging by hinting at a pre-existing condition mandate and refundable tax credits — two elements of the establishment plan that will actually keep prices high. Nonetheless, the overall plan was as good as we can hope for from any Republican at this moment and needs to be bolstered by allies in the administration.complete-message

    4. Foreign policy:

Although the details were a little sparse for a speech this long, he made it clear that the era of nation building is over. “My job is not to represent the world. My job is to represent the United States of America,” said Trump in a very effective punchline. At the same time, President Trump spoke to defending American security without apologizing and waging an unflinching war against radical Islamic terror. And thank God, as this is the first time in years a president has mentioned our alliance with Israel without pushing the odious “two state solution.”

    5. Drugs and crime:

Although crime is a policy mainly dealt with on a state level, I’m glad Trump used his “job” as ‘citizen in chief’ to address rising crime rates. This is one area of Trumpism that is actually more in line with traditional conservatism, even though it deviates from the current dogma among “right-leaning” policy elites. The same is true for the drug epidemic. He let the liberal open borders crowd own the disaster that is taking place in our communities thanks to drugs pouring over the border.

    THE BAD

    1. No mention of life and religious liberty:

While we’ve come to expect social conservatism to take a back seat, it’s a shame that these issues didn’t even receive the traditional obligatory mention, especially given the persecution that is taking place at the hands of the sexual identity lobby and the courts. He could have easily woven in respect for the conscience and private property decisions of others into this unifying speech and would have been a good ambassador for the cause. He won with overwhelming support from evangelicals and other faith-based groups in this country. It’s a shame they were left out tonight. Then again, the rest of the party is just as bad on this issue, so it’s not as if Trump is changing the party’s true position. Nonetheless, conservatives need to fight harder to address fundamental rights and judicial reform.amen

Let our policies stand on their own merits and the media’s desire to destroy them will be that much harder.

    2. Ivankacare, porkulous, spending, and debt:

As always, there was no mention of balancing the budget, the threat of debt, or the need to cut spending. In addition, President Trump promoted “Ivankacare” and the full blown $1 trillion porkulous he calls an infrastructure rebuilding package. Conservatives should not back down in their opposition to these bad ideas. We don’t need another massive entitlement; we need to repeal Obamacare so that mothers don’t have to work more to pay for a second mortgage. Likewise, the talk of “crumbling infrastructure” is a dubious left-wing talking point. And to the extent there are problems with our infrastructure it’s because of the inefficient, failed federal monopoly on highway spending. Trump said, “the time has come for a new program of national rebuilding.” He is right, it’s time to devolve transportation and education spending to the states in order to improve those important functions.amen

Moreover, Trump must remember that we cannot have economic growth with such long-term debt. Also, the trade deficit he speaks of is only a problem because of our fiscal deficit and the misallocation of investments pouring into this country.

    3. The protectionist trade policies:

Nothing new here, but still very problematic. Much of the appeal of “buy America” and “stopping companies from going overseas” stems from the general feeling that we have lost our economy and sovereignty. But were Trump to really propose a solid agenda ending venture socialism — taxation, regulation, and subsidization — along with his virtuous immigration ideas, those problems would go away over time and trade won’t have to be the bogeyman. Furthermore, enactment of true free market policies is the best way to keep companies in America.

Overall, there was really nothing new regarding Trump’s non-conservative views, and I believe they were overshadowed by the solid parts of his speech on immigration and Obamacare. It’s something we must continue to work on as we fight to defend his good policies.

President Trump must now harness the energy from this successful speech and deliver specific policies to Congress on taxes, immigration, and health care. He must whip GOP leaders into shape, get everyone in his administration on the same page, stay on message, and let his policies speak above the rancor of the media. Trump should focus relentlessly on his policies (hopefully the more conservative ones) and back them up with a series of policy speeches while simply ignoring the media. Yes, the media is the enemy, but we must not be our own worst enemy. Let our policies stand on their own merits and the media’s desire to destroy them will be that much harder.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has 37 agreements in 17 states with local law enforcement agencies to help enforce immigration law. (Photo: Reuters/Newscom)

In July 2007, the elected board of a growing county in Northern Virginia adopted a controversial resolution requiring the police department to partner with the federal government to help deport illegal immigrants.

Corey Stewart, the Republican elected the year before as chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, ran on a platform of stricter immigration enforcement during a time of economic anxiety.

“The main purpose of the resolution was to remove criminal illegal aliens so they couldn’t commit crimes, and to reduce illegal immigration to Prince William County,” Stewart recalled in an interview with The Daily Signal.

Before 2007, Prince William, a county of about 450,000 today, experienced dramatic growth in the number of foreign-born residents. Most of these recent arrivals were Latino, a segment of the total population that almost doubled from 11.5 percent in 2000 to 21.9 percent in 2006.

The debate over the immigration enforcement measure, amplified by demonstrations and phone and email campaigns to sway the eight county supervisors, ended with a 15-hour board meeting. More than 100 people testified before board members, delaying the vote, The Washington Post reported. Prince William’s supervisors, including six Republicans and two Democrats at the time, approved the measure unanimously.

    Test Case: ‘Avoided the Controversy’

Prince William’s policy, as originally implemented in March 2008, required police to inquire about the immigration status of anyone officers encountered who they suspected to be in the country illegally, including people stopped for traffic tickets, for instance. The Obama administration shunned policies like this one, which were authorized through the use of a program known as 287(g) that permits local and federal immigration partnerships.

The George W. Bush administration had expanded the use of 287(g) agreements—named for the section of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1996, signed by President Bill Clinton, that created them.picture1

In President Barack Obama’s second term, however, his administration curtailed the 287(g) program, citing investigations and court rulings that found local officers in some jurisdictions had engaged in racial profiling when enforcing immigration law.illegalalienvoters-300x300

The most high-profile case was in Maricopa County, Arizona’s most populous county, where a federal judge ruled in May 2013 that Sheriff Joseph Arpaio’s policy discriminated against Latinos.

But today, as part of its own effort to strengthen immigration enforcement, the Trump administration is seeking to encourage and expand the use of 287(g) agreements.ATTA BOY

In new memos detailing implementation of President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, John Kelly, secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, called the program a “highly successful force multiplier” that would help overburdened federal deportation agents enforce immigration law. As local politicians and law enforcement agencies decide whether or how to act on Trump’s call for help, observers say Prince William’s experience can be instructive on how to make a successful partnership that balances community and security concerns.

After pushback from the police chief at the time, Charlie Deane, who worried about diverting resources from normal operations to immigration enforcement and harming public trust, the board of supervisors suspended the policy at the end of April 2008. The board implemented a revised policy in July 2008. Under the change, police officers could inquire about immigration status only after arresting someone and taking him or her to the county jail—not during interactions on the street before making an arrest.

“Prince William County took a moderate, down-the-middle approach and avoided the controversy,” said Randy Capps, the director of research for U.S. programs at the Migration Policy Institute, who helped write a study of 287(g) programs that included Prince William County.

“That’s an interesting contrast with other police departments and sheriff’s offices, and it shows that for this to work, it has to be somewhat reflective of local concerns,” Capps told The Daily Signal. “We have a tradition in the U.S. of local control over policing, and that will mean variations in policing when it comes to immigrants.”

Stewart, who served as Trump’s campaign chairman in Virginia, had fought scaling back the county’s policy of enforcing immigration law. But today he credits the change with helping reduce serious crimes in Prince William County, such as aggravated assault—which declined 27 percent after announcement of the original policy in July 2007—while also respecting residents.

According to a University of Virginia report from 2010, no one made a substantiated claim of racial profiling related to the immigration enforcement program. Stewart says that is still the case.

Police officials issued bilingual brochures explaining the modified program to residents, and conducted hundreds of briefings with religious groups, social service agencies, and school faculty, among others.

“I opposed the change at the time, but at the end of the day, it was good,” Stewart told The Daily Signal, adding:

Federal immigration authorities need to be able to leverage local law enforcement to do the job of removing criminal illegal aliens. To do these things right, you have to make sure the community understands you are not racial profiling, but you are targeting illegal aliens who commit crimes. I learned there is a PR element which was very, very hard. Because one bad case of racial profiling can undo the whole thing.

    Change in Priorities

At the peak of the 287(g) program’s use, in 2008, more than 60 local law enforcement agencies across the nation had agreements with the federal government, including three dozen that allowed for street-level enforcement. In street-level agreements, known as “task force” models, police officers and sheriff’s deputies could inquire about a person’s immigration status when they encountered him or her during routine patrols—as under Prince William’s original policy. These agreements allowed state and local law enforcement to work in task forces with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials on specific immigration-related operations.

Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies for the Center for Immigration Studies, said 287(g) agreements at one point were responsible for nearly 20 percent of all criminal deportations by ICE. ICE credits the program for identifying more than 402,000 “potentially removable aliens” from January 2006 through Sept. 30, 2015. From 2006 to 2013, the program led to 175,000 deportations, The New York Times reported. Today, ICE has 37 agreements in 17 states, but law enforcement agencies administer all of them in local jails, not in the streets.

    170223_ice-map_v3

That’s because Obama’s administration decided in 2012 to end street-level agreements, meaning that trained local police may question people about their immigration status only after booking and jailing them.

“The jail models are the ones that are most useful to ICE just because of the sheer numbers [of deportations] they generate,” Vaughan said, adding:

But the task force models canceled by Obama were extremely useful to local agencies, in some cases, at addressing specific crime problems. The Obama administration’s suppression of this program has contributed to the steep drop in interior enforcement.

In the Trump administration’s implementation memos, the Department of Homeland Security does not specify whether street-level agreements will be made available again to local agencies, although it leaves open the possibility.

“It is the policy of the executive branch to empower state and local law enforcement agencies across the country to perform the functions of an immigration officer in the interior of the United States to the maximum extent permitted by law,” the memos say.

In addition to restricting the 287(g) program, the Obama administration narrowed the categories of illegal immigrants targeted for deportation to convicted felons, national security threats, and recent arrivals. By the end of Obama’s eight years as president, the administration didn’t consider around 90 percent of the country’s estimated 11 million illegal immigrants a priority for deportation, the Migration Policy Institute determined.

Interior removals—deportations of illegal immigrants who are not residing at or near the border—decreased by 71 percent during Obama’s presidency, from 237,941 in fiscal 2009 to 69,478 in fiscal 2015, according to ICE data.illegalalienvoters-300x300

The Obama administration had instructed local law enforcement officials to follow the narrow priorities set by the federal government. However, the Migration Policy Institute found that some jurisdictions did not always follow that direction, and sought to have ICE deport “nearly 100 percent of potentially removable immigrants they encounter.”

Trump’s orders, by contrast, instruct federal immigration officers to deport not only those convicted of crimes, but also those who aren’t charged but are believed to have committed “acts that constitute a chargeable criminal offense.”

“The No. 1 limitation of the ability to remove people from inside the United States is finding them,” said Theresa Cardinal Brown, director of immigration policy at the Bipartisan Policy Center and a former policy adviser at the Department of Homeland Security.

“Trump is expanding the net of people who are removable, but a few thousand ICE officers don’t have such a great chance of encountering them, especially in small jurisdictions,” Brown told The Daily Signal. “Criminal aliens, or those suspected of crimes, are much more likely to encounter state and local police. It’s up to the localities to decide how to follow Trump’s guidance. There’s always friction because there’s different priorities at different levels of government.”

    Renewed Interest in Local Partnerships

Since it became clear Trump embraces the 287(g) program, some local agencies already are eager to engage with ICE, even if the partnership exists only in jails. Last month, A.J. Louderback, the Republican sheriff of Jackson County in Texas, signed such an agreement with ICE. Louderback, who is also legislative director of the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas, said more than 10 other counties in the state have expressed interest in brokering new partnerships with the federal government.

“We need to make sure our criminal aliens are handled consistently throughout Texas and throughout the U.S.,” Louderback told The Daily Signal.

“And the best way we can do it, the most efficient way we can do it, is to cooperate with ICE to make sure each criminal foreign-born alien is properly vetted before we let them out of jail.”amen

In the jail model, trained local officers interview inmates about their immigration status and identify potentially removable illegal immigrants to ICE. When booked, all new inmates are asked to state their place of birth and nationality. If an inmate indicates he is a noncitizen and foreign-born, the officer screens him by accessing a federal database that includes information about immigration status and history, then consults with an ICE supervisor. If the local officer discovers that the person is an unauthorized immigrant, the officer may issue a detainer. This allows the jail to hold the inmate 48 hours past the normal release time before transferring the inmate to ICE custody. ICE then would decide whether to pursue removal proceedings against the illegal immigrant.

Aside from training local officers chosen to carry out immigration enforcement duties, and providing and installing associated equipment, ICE does not pay for any costs associated with implementing the program. The local agency bears the costs.

In Prince William County, the sheriff’s office currently operates the 287(g) program through the jail. The police department’s agreement with ICE ended in 2012, after the Obama administration stopped allowing enforcement by local officers in the streets.

Prince William’s Stewart says ICE has trained eight officers in the county jail who do nothing but check immigration status. He does not expect or want the county to expand into street-level enforcement, Stewart said, but is hopeful for one change under the Trump administration. In previous administrations, he told The Daily Signal, ICE did not notify the county on whether the federal agency deported or released illegal immigrants after local officials transferred them to federal custody. ICE held that such information was private.

Local police rearrested 14 percent of the more than 7,400 illegal immigrants handed over to ICE since 2008, Stewart said.

“What changes now is a belief that Trump will keep his word and we will finally see the federal government deporting the illegal aliens we have handed over to them,” Stewart said.

    Resistance Remains

Despite some renewed interest in 287(g), the program faces resistance from some states as well as so-called sanctuary cities, which limit cooperation in enforcing federal immigration law.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said last week that the city would cooperate in cases involving “proven public safety threats,” but vowed that “what we will not do is turn our NYPD officers into immigration agents.”deport-politicians

The Major Cities Chiefs Association, an organization made up of dozens of senior law enforcement executives from the nation’s largest cities, rejects the policy of enlisting local or state officers in immigration enforcement.

“We do not believe local police should be involved in civil immigration enforcement,” Darrel Stephens, executive director of the association, told The Daily Signal. “We do have a responsibility, however, to enforce criminal laws regardless of one’s immigration status. Our agencies work with ICE on a range of programs involving human trafficking, gang enforcement, and the like.”

In Texas, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, a newly elected Democrat, terminated a 287(g) partnership with ICE in which 10 trained local deputies screened the immigration status of jailed suspects.

Adrian Garcia, a Democrat who served as Harris County sheriff from 2009 to 2015, told The Daily Signal that he tried to end an agreement with ICE that he inherited from his predecessor. During his tenure, Garcia said, Harris County altered the program so that local officers screened the immigration status only of “violent, serious” offenders in the jail, rather than all inmates.

The 23-year veteran of the Houston Police Department commended Gonzalez for ending the program.

“It was a constant battle to stay true to what I thought the goal should be, which was to go after the worst of the worst,” Garcia told The Daily Signal, adding:

It was important for me that the community never lost confidence in the police department. There was an increasing amount of feedback that people were not engaging with law enforcement as they could or should have.liberal-propaganda-hogwash

    Evaluating Impact

Back in Prince William County, debate over the impact of its immigration enforcement program continues, even though it is less visible and contentious today operating strictly in the jail. A 2013 study published by the American Society of Criminology found that while the policy did not affect most forms of crime in the county (including robberies, drug offenses, and drunk driving), aggravated assaults declined 27 percent after the announcement of the original policy in July 2007.

Last year, 22 homicides occurred in the county, the highest total since local authorities began tracking them in 1975. The overall crime rate is at a 24-year low, however. Prince William’s noncitizen Hispanic population (legal and illegal) declined 23 percent from 2007 to 2009.

A 2010 study by the University of Virginia found that most of the arrests of illegal immigrants in 2009—about 70 percent—were for drunken driving, public drunkenness, and driving without a license. The study also showed that illegal immigrants committed a relatively small percentage of the county’s serious crimes—6 percent in 2009.

Experts say it’s difficult to connect crime and population trends to the county’s immigration policy, since illegal immigrants were committing a small percentage of serious crimes, and the policy’s implementation coincided with the economic downturn. Thomas Guterbock, the director of the University of Virginia’s Center for Survey Research, said that overall, the policy had achieved its intended effect.

“As Prince William County showed, these programs can be effective in doing what they are intended to do—finding undocumented persons who have committed crimes or serious violations of immigration law,” Guterbock told The Daily Signal. “If done carefully, they could be made to work behind the scenes as a fairly quiet and unbiased way to find and deal with those people.”

    Hassan Abbassi

We have Iranian activist Banafhseh Zand to thank for once again revealing to us the danger that we face from the Muslim world. In a recent post to his Twitter feed, Zand exposes the threat that Iran (one of the nation’s on Trump’s travel “ban” order) poses to the United States.against-america

The threat is voiced by Hassan Abbassi, who happens to be an officer in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard of Iran and heads up a think-tank that provides counsel for the Iranian government’s leadership. He is an important supporter of former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and he is a trusted advisor to the Supreme Leader the Ayatollah Khamenei.

I say all of this so that you understand that when Abbassi speaks of foreign policy issues, particularly ones that pertain to the USA, we should be paying attention. The man has a lot of influence in Iranian politics.

Recently, Banafhseh Zand happened to get a hold of a video that showed Abbassi explaining that Iran had many loyal supporters in the United States who were ready, willing, and waiting to attack.

“We have 2 million Iranians there (in the USA) be certain that I will raise a guerilla army from amongst them against you, you know this well.

Look how vulnerable you were on 9/11 when 4 Arabs from Saudi who don’t know how to fight managed to endanger your foundations. Yet with us, you face a nation even stronger. Don’t forget, we have 7,000 PhD holders in the U.S. If only 11 people created 9/11, do you realize what we can do?

We don’t need nuclear weapons, you have 6000 nuclear warheads those warheads are our target for our guerillas to destroy. Not even an Iranian guerilla movement but we have people from ALL Islamic countries…

We will guide anyone who has problems with the U.S. We have identified the U.S.’s Achilles heel…”

The threat is real, folks, and it’s time we demand our government and our media take the threat seriously. Liberals must be forced to stop playing politics with our lives and get proactive about our national defense.America Never Forget

I couldn’t have been more surprised by something I heard coming from the backseat of our Dodge Caravan last Friday night. As the sun crept behind the Pennsylvania mountains, my four-year-old son, Carter, cried out, “It’s getting dark, and I’m afraid of the dark, Daddy! The monsters are coming out!”

At that moment, I was relieved my son couldn’t see my face in the rear-view mirror, because it was all I could do to keep from laughing.

Monsters. My first thought was to wonder which kids television show had planted this idea in his mind. But then, like a good dad, I relieved my son’s fears by telling him there is no such thing as monsters. Instead, I explained the truth: God made everything — including the darkness — and even when it is dark God still watches over us.

Later that evening, when darkness reigned supreme and the monsters were a no-show, I couldn’t help but spot the irony in our conversation. When Carter mentioned monsters, I snickered at his childish understanding and spent the next few minutes explaining God’s existence. But how many millions of secular people today secretly hide a smile when they hear someone mention the existence of God? “A Supreme Being? Really? You can’t be serious!”

    /* */

If it were possible, how many atheists would like to take me on a car ride, where they would explain that just like monsters in the darkness, God is just a figment of my imagination?

I am willing to admit one striking similarity between Carter’s magical monsters and my glorious God: Both are invisible to the human eye. But that is surely where the similarities end.

While there is no reasonable evidence to prove the existence of monsters, there are some remarkable proofs that demonstrate the existence of a mighty God who lives and loves. So how do I know with an unshakable certainty that God really exists?

1.) Because the universe is here.

If you walked into your kitchen and spotted a fresh pot of dark-roast coffee brewing on the countertop, what would you conclude about how it got there? Did that pot of coffee magically burst into existence? Of course not — someone must have prepared it.

Common sense tells us every effect has a cause. Something can’t come from nothing, so if something is here, then something else must have caused it. The universe is here — and it is amazing. Therefore, the best logical conclusion is that this incredible universe was caused by a truly incredible God. He is the first and greatest cause (Gen. 1:1).

2.) Because the world overflows with design.

Millions of consumers love Apple because its products feature stunning designs. Pick up the latest iPhone, and you cannot deny the remarkable engineering behind it.

In the same way, the world overflows with undeniable evidence of design: the consistency of gravity, the cycle of seasons, the optics of the human eye, the pumping power of the human heart, the genetic information in DNA. All of these realities point to a magnificent Designer, namely God.

3.) Because all humans understand right and wrong.

As a father of six children, I have broken up many fights between toddlers yearning for the same toy. But what is truly fascinating is how even the youngest children have an instinctive understanding of right and wrong.

When a boy pushes his sister into the dirt and steals her doll, no one has to teach her that wrong has been committed. She senses it, and cries to Dad for justice. In the same way, every human being has an innate understanding of good and evil. Humans know that murder, rape, and robbery are wrong — regardless of culture or education. Since this “law of morality” exists in the conscience of every person (Rom. 2:14-15), there must be a good Lawgiver who implanted it there. That Lawgiver is God.

4.) Because millions have been transformed.

Years ago, Harry Ironside was preaching in San Francisco when a heckler shouted, “All you’re saying is a lie! And I challenge you to debate me tomorrow.”

Ironside replied, “I will be delighted to debate you, but I have one condition. I’ll be here tomorrow with 100 people, whose lives were once wretched — but now have been delivered by the grace of God. I’ll be here with my 100. But I challenge you to bring 100 who have been saved by the power of atheism.”

While there are many logical proofs for God’s existence, there is perhaps no greater evidence than the millions of broken people whose lives were completely transformed by God’s amazing grace. Where will power came up short, God’s power gave the victory (1 Cor. 15:57).

For as long as life lasts, children will look to their parents for answers to the hardest questions. Sometimes those questions come at the dinner table; other times they bubble up from the backseat of the car.

Are you ready for those curious conversations about school romances, lightning strikes, or monsters in the dark? In my experience, I know I haven’t always given the best answers to my children’s inquiries. But there is one thing I can affirm with absolute confidence: God exists. No matter where I look, His powerful presence is undeniable. And that truth gives me peace when the lights go out.amen

URL of the original posting site: http://www.lifezette.com/polizette/how-trump-maintains-anti-regulatory-momentum/

One of the themes emerging from the new Trump administration is a focus on overturning onerous regulations currently smothering American industries. It’s a laudable goal, since government rules bear so heavily on middle-class job creation.

On Feb. 24, the president signed an executive order tasking officials with peeling back excess regulation. The president still faces a fairly big problem, however, since behind each regulatory door he opens, there are two more doors.

Essentially, the Obama administration spent its second term cooking up a wide array of environmental measures that were both ideologically conceived and bureaucratically cumbersome. And nowhere was such red tape stretched more aggressively than in the quest to keep coal and minerals in the ground.

Already, President Trump has followed through on some of his campaign pledges. For example, he signed a congressional resolution overturning the Obama-era “stream rule.” This massive rule simply duplicated existing measures to monitor coal mining and land reclamation. Thus, canceling the rule will not meaningfully impact environmental standards already in place. But it will lift the hefty costs intended to punish mining firms simply for extracting a carbon-based source of energy.

That’s merely step one for the Trump administration, though. There’s more to do.

    /* */

First off, there’s the leasing moratorium imposed on coal reserves on federal lands. Even though federal coal accounts for 42 percent of total U.S. coal production — while being responsible for 40 percent of total coal-generated electricity in 2014 — the Interior Department decided last year to shut down new coal leases for three years.

This smacks of political payoffs to activists since taxpayers receive 39 cents from every dollar earned from federal lease sales while the net global “carbon contribution” from federal coal is negligible. The moratorium solved a problem no one had. The good news is that this moratorium can be lifted by the new Interior Department secretary as easily as it was imposed by his predecessor. Thus, after Ryan Zinke is confirmed for his post at the Interior Department, he could move quickly to end the moratorium.

Also in the administration’s purview is the Obama administration’s “Clean Power Plan” (CPP), the carbon reduction rule currently tied up in the D.C. Circuit Court. In essence, the CPP represents the zenith of regulatory ambition — a total transformation of the nation’s energy grid, engineered by an environmental agency hoping to impose the very cap-and-trade regime that Congress repeatedly rejected. The CPP is still breathing, but barely; it isn’t legally binding until the D.C. Circuit decides its dubious legality. But Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt has reiterated his intention to scrap the plan — an encouraging prospect for the millions of Americans living in states that depend heavily on electricity from reliable and affordable coal-based power

And finally, there’s the blundering excess of the financial assurance requirement that Obama’s EPA hoped to impose on hard-rock mining companies. It is already standard practice for mining firms in the United States to post financial assurances for the reclamation, closure, and post-closure costs of any mining site. But the EPA simply decided to duplicate these requirements, even though the process is already being managed successfully by state regulators as well as by the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service.

Why would the EPA want to increase the financial burden on mining companies by requiring them to lay out additional capital for the same costs they’ve already covered? Because green activists have waged an ideological campaign opposed to mining, and the EPA simply acquiesced to their agenda. Ignored by these same environmentalists is their reliance on the very metals and minerals they would keep in the ground.

Trump Should End Obama Coal Lease MoratoriumNew energy production on federal lands will generate affordable electricity for the entire country Smartphones, for example, contain more than 40 metals and minerals extracted from state-of-the-art mining operations. And solar panels and wind turbines require copious amounts of bauxite, boron, cadmium, copper, cobalt, iron, molybdenum, etc. The new financial assurance requirement is another example of an environmental agenda lacking any real-world practicality.

Mining matters greatly to the future security of the United States, however. And it’s not just the reliable, affordable energy that coal provides. Or the critical minerals needed for 21st century technologies. There’s also the thousands upon thousands of good-paying, middle-class jobs on the line, and the economic impacts for industry and manufacturing.

This is why the Trump administration must continue to root out regulations that were conceived in an ideological vacuum — with little to justify their massive impact. Dismantling an anti-coal regulatory edifice, and ending the blanket hostility to mining, will do much to secure affordable energy and a stronger industrial base for America.

URL of the original posting site: http://www.lifezette.com/polizette/vulnerable-2018-senate-democrats-duck-town-halls/

As Republicans continue to fight back against trained activists disrupting their town halls, some of the nation’s most vulnerable Senate Democrats are refusing to hold meetings with their constituents ahead of the 2018 elections. While Congress is on recess, lawmakers across the country have been holding town halls to discuss issues ranging from repealing and replacing Obamacare, border security, and the president’s executive order limiting immigration from seven terror-ridden nations.

While disruptions to Republican town halls have received much of the media’s attention, notable Democrats are skipping out on the chance to speak to the voters about important issues. Democrats avoiding in-person town halls altogether have instead resorted to communication through the telephone, e-mail surveys, and social media. Some are only meeting with voters in controlled environments with limited opportunities to ask questions, according to ABC News.

“Seems to me that all these members of Congress are afraid to face their constituents,” said Hillary Shields, a volunteer organizer with the Kansas City Indivisible, said after Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) declined the group’s invitation to attend a town hall.

Democrats will be defending 25 seats in 2018, 10 of which are in states carried by President Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election.

    /* */

McCaskill declined an invitation from Indivisible, the liberal activist group leading many of the protests against Republican lawmakers at town halls, and instead sent one of her staffers to speak on her behalf, according to ABC News.

Trump won McCaskill’s state by 19 percentage points over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election, making Missouri a high-priority target for Republicans to try to unseat McCaskill in 2018. McCaskill does not have any scheduled town halls, but she is slated to speak with her constituents this upcoming week on Facebook Live.

The political pressure has kept other endangered Democrats in hiding from their constituents. Neither Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) held in-person town halls during the recent recess. Trump won both of their states by more than 30 points in November. Heitkamp’s office indicated that she participated in a discussion about flood issues with voters in northeastern North Dakota and attended a subsequent ribbon-cutting event. Likewise, Manchin’s office reported an equally busy schedule, while his constituents argued he has been “hard to find” this past week, according to the Associated Press.

In Montana, where Trump beat Clinton by 20 percentage points, Sen. Jon Tester made a few small public appearances, but none in the form of a town hall where voters could ask him questions.

Sen. Bob Casey (D-Penn.) claimed he would be hosting a town hall in early March, but details of the event are not yet available on his official website. Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) delivered remarks to students Thursday, while Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) spoke with his constituents through a tele-town hall.

Other Senate Democrats not up for re-election in 2018 are ducking town halls, too. Washington Democratic Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell are not scheduled to speak in their states at all, The Seattle Times reported.

Last Wednesday, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) faced a raucous crowd that repeatedly heckled the former infantryman as he attempted to answer audience questions. Cotton kept his cool and answered many of the questions that were asked of him, even as he was being booed.

The importance of speaking to your constituents is crucial, Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“It’s now on us to produce results. And one of the things that we need to do is engage with the public,” Christie said.

NY Post and Daily Mail articles focus attention on Rasmea’s involvement in second phase of Women’s March.

On February 12, 2017, we reported on the next phase of the so-called Women’s March, Women’s March calls for General Strike and Day Without A Women. In that post, we called attention to the fact that Rasmea Odeh was one of the organizers, along with other radicals like Angela Davis, via Algemeiner:

A convicted Palestinian terrorist was among the eight feminist activists who called earlier this week on American women to join a March 8 international strike — which organizers are calling a protest “against male violence and in defense of reproductive rights.” ….liberal-propaganda-hogwash

In a Guardian op-ed published on Monday — attention to which was brought on social media by investigative journalist and author Gary Weiss — Odeh, joined by Linda Martín Alcoff, Cinzia Arruzza, Tithi Bhattacharya, Nancy Fraser, Barbara Ransby, Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor and Angela Davis, wrote that the goal of the planned protest is to “mobilize women, including trans women, and all who support them in an international day of struggle — a day of striking, marching, blocking roads, bridges, and squares, abstaining from domestic, care and sex work, boycotting, calling out misogynistic politicians and companies, striking in educational institutions…Let us use the occasion of this international day of action to be done with lean-in feminism and to build in its place a feminism for the 99%, a grassroots, anti-capitalist feminism — a feminism in solidarity with working women, their families and their allies throughout the world.”liberal-propaganda-hogwash

As reported by The Algemeiner on Monday, Odeh will be a featured speaker at the upcoming Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) 2017 National Member Meeting — set to be held in Chicago from March 31 to April 2.

    https://www.womensmarch.com/womensday

Legal Insurrection readers, of course, are very familiar with Rasmea from our many dozens of posts about her history and trials. For those of you who have not been following the case, here is a very brief summary:

Rasmea Odeh is the military member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) who was convicted in Israeli in 1970 of the 1969 bombing of the SuperSol supermarket in Jerusalem, and the attempted bombing of the British Consulate.

That supermarket bombing killed Israeli students Edward Joffe and Leon Kanner.

[Vigil in memory of Edward Joffe and Leon Kanner, DePaul University, outside fundraiser for Rasmea Odeh]

Rasmea claims she was not involved in the supermarket bombing, and was convicted only because she gave a false confession after 25 days of sexual torture. Previously, we have explored the factual conflicts in Rasmea’s story, including that she confessed the day after arrest, not 25 days later; bomb-making material was found in her room; she received an open trial observed by a representative of the International Red Cross who described the trial as fair; and perhaps most important, Rasmea’s co-conspirator, Ayesha Odeh (not related), described in a 2004 interview for a pro-Palestinian filmmaker how Rasmea was the mastermind behind the supermarket bombing. After serving nearly a decade in prison, Rasmea was released in a prisoner release for an Israel soldier captured in Lebanon. While she was imprisoned, the PFLP formed the “Rasmea Odeh Brigade” to try to free her and others by taking hostages, and Rasmea was on the list of prisoners whose release was sought by the Black September terrorists who took Israeli athletes hostage (and killed them) at the 1972 Olympics. Yet Rasmea claims she was not involved in terror organizations and was just an innocent political activist when arrested by the Israelis. Rasmea eventually made her way to the U.S. in the mid-1990s. Rasmea gave false answers on her visa application, and in 2004 on her naturalization application, by denying (among other lies) that she EVER (bold and CAPS in original) was convicted or imprisoned. Rasmieh was convicted of immigration fraud in November 2014.In December 2016, the trial court ordered a new trial so that Rasmea could testify that she only confessed because of 25 days of torture which caused her to suffer PTSD. That PTSD, Rasmea’s expert will testify, caused Rasmea to “filter” the questions on the immigration forms such that EVER was understood by her to mean only since coming to the U.S. in the 1990s. Thus, Rasmea will argue, she did not “knowingly” give false answers, which is an element of the criminal offense.Bull

The expert testimony, which amounts to junk science, never should have been allowed and Rasmea should not have been given a new trial, for reasons we have explained before. But the Judge ruled as he did, and it’s moving forward to a new trial in January 2017.

At that re-trial, unlike the first trial, Rasmea’s guilt or innocence of the bombing will be an issue, though it still isn’t an element of the immigration charge, because Rasmea claims she only confessed due to 25 days of torture. (Whether she did the bombing or not, she still needed to disclose the conviction and imprisonment.) The prosecution has argued in court papers that Rasmea is lying, and that the prosecution will prove so in the next trial.

It’s important to note that while Rasmea professes innocence, her two co-conspirators have stated on film that Rasmea was involved.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtdLvCG4hi0

Rasmea’s status in the radical community is rising, as we noted in The Sickening Deification of Rasmea Odeh. So it is no surprise that Rasmea has injected herself into the Women’s March movement. But that association is causing a stir.

    http://nypost.com/2017/02/25/the-next-womens-march-is-co-organized-by-a-terrorist/

Rasmea’s role in the March 8 march now is the subject of national debate after the NY Post ran a story about it on February 25, Meet the terrorist behind the next women’s march:

Instead of milling around Washington, organizers have in mind a “general strike” called the Day without a Woman. In a manifesto published in The Guardian on Feb. 6, the brains behind the movement are calling for a “new wave of militant feminist struggle.” That’s right: militant, not peaceful.

The document was co-authored by, among others, Rasmea Yousef Odeh, a convicted terrorist. Odeh, a Palestinian, was convicted in Israel in 1970 for her part in two terrorist bombings, one of which killed two students while they were shopping for groceries. She spent 10 years in prison for her crimes. She then managed to become a US citizen in 2004 by lying about her past (great detective work, INS: Next time, use Google) but was subsequently convicted, in 2014, of immigration fraud for the falsehoods. However, she won the right to a new trial (set for this spring) by claiming she had been suffering from PTSD at the time she lied on her application. Oh, and in her time as a citizen, she worked for a while as an ObamaCare navigator.

The Daily Mail also had a story, since Rasmea also tried to bomb the British Consulate:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4261654/Illegal-immigrant-terrorist-organize-women-s-strike.html

The Daily Mail gave us a nice shout out:

Her lawyers claimed that her confession was tortured out of her by Israeli military. However, according to a 1970 report in The Jerusalem Times – reprinted on conservative site Legal Insurrection – a Red Cross representative – Guy Wintelir – testified that the trial had been fair.

    (added) Express also had coverage:

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/772350/Donald-Trump-women-s-march-organiser-Rasmea-Odeh-terrorist-terror-attack-Israel

Twitter has lit up after the NY Post  and Daily Mail stories. But so far, I’ve not seen any public comment from the Women’s March organization.

    Death of the GOP

Donald J. Trump was swept into office on several key issues, one of which was to put a merciful end to the odious Obamacare. So far the Republican Party has thoroughly failed to move on any of Trump’s issues and in the case of Obamacare in particular, if they do nothing or only tinker around the edges, it will sink both Trump and the Party.complete-message

Trump was made president of the United States on several fronts. He was against illegal aliens infesting the U.S.A. and for building a wall on the southern border, he was in favor of lowering taxes and re-building the economy, he was pro-U.S.A. (i.e. “make America great again”), and he was going to end Obamacare.

On the latter issue, the Republican Party stood fully behind Trump and have for several years now said they, too, rnc-passing-repeal-and-replace-obamacarewant to put an end to one of the worst, most destructive laws ever to ooze out of D.C. But, now, only a month into the era of Trump, now that they are fully in charge and have a president ready to join the effort to quash the socialist take over of one sixth of the nation’s economy, we have already seen they are losing their spine on the matter.

Despite so many who are crowing that the Democrat Party is dead — and, yes, they are in the worst shape they’ve ever been in — and despite those who assume Democrats are now in the permanent wilderness, it is idiotic to assume the Dems are down and out. The fact is, right this minute the GOP has more power than it has had in generations and now is the time to act on Obamacare. We can’t expect the GOP to ever be in a better place to put an end to President Obama’s signature nightmare.

To their credit — and just, at that — many Republicans do understand that ObamaCare needs to be eliminated. Remember, many Republicans were heard claiming that repealing Obamacare would be a “day one” task. And on that subject, Trump did, indeed, make a “day one” move to begin the rollback of Obama’s law. Hours after taking office, Trump signed an Executive Order instructing federal agencies to grant relief to Americans negatively affected by the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

But, Executive Orders are not “laws” passed by Congress nor do they have the full force of law. We need to have Congress move to end the law. Yes, Republican leaders in Congress have continually mouthed their desire to end Obamacare in line with Trump’s campaign promises. The media is full of these pronouncements.

For instance, last year, when Speaker of the House Paul Ryan was not able to muster enough votes to override Obama’s veto of a bill designed to begin dismantling Obamacare, Ryan insisted that if a Republican were to win the White House, they would still do it.

“We have now forged a path — that is a clear path — to repealing Obamacare without 60 votes in the Senate. So what we are proving today is if we have a Republican president next year, we will repeal Obamacare. And we will replace Obamacare,” Ryan said at a press conference in February of last year after the vote to override Obama’s veto failed.kick-em-out-of-office

Just before Donald Trump was inaugurated as our 45th president, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell also ripped into Obamacare, said it has failed America, and promised to dump it.

“The Senate is currently working to pass the legislative tools to bring relief to the middle class by repealing this partisan law,” McConnell said of Obamacare in an op-ed January 9.

“We’re acting quickly because ObamaCare is collapsing under its own weight, and things will continue to get worse otherwise. That doesn’t mean the law will end overnight. There will be a stable transition period, and once repeal is passed we will turn to replacement policies that cost less and work better than what we have now,” McConnell promised.

Sadly, there has been much talk but little concrete action.amen

Indeed, there are hints all over the media that the Republican Party is backing down from concrete action as fast as they rush to microphones to claim otherwise. For instance, only about a week before his inauguration, Trump was listening to Kentucky Republican, Senator Rand Paul, who was already cautioning that the party should slow down of the repealing of Obamacre until there was a “replacement” ready for introduction.

Now, before I go on, if you don’t believe that the GOP has several replacement bills already written, then you are a fool. Rand Paul has probably even been part of the drafting of at least one of them. So, there is no reason to wait for some mythical bill to be “written.” There are several to choose from already. Just frikkin pick one and go!amen

Even conservative Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark) has been blathering about waiting until a “replacement” is ready.

“I think when we repeal Obamacare we need to have the solution in place moving forward,” Cotton said on MSNBC show in January. “Again, the solution may be implemented in a deliberate fashion, but I don’t think we can repeal Obamacare and say we’ll get the answer two years from now.”more-blather

And orange-faced former House Speaker John Boehner is even back in the media insisting that the GOP will never repeal Obamacare. Just last week Boehner claimed “it is not going to happen.”

Notice what all this means? It means that Republicans are looking for a reason to tell voters that they aren’t ready to fight to repeal Obamacare.

This “let’s wait and see” attitude is a common refrain in Washington belched out by Republicans who are looking for ways to avoid doing what they promised or were elected to do. They’ve been throwing this line of nonsense around for decades. The GOP said they couldn’t reign in government, lower taxes, or fight Obama because they didn’t have the House of Representatives. Then they got the House. After that they said now wasn’t the time to fight for anything because the GOP didn’t control the Senate. Then they got the Senate. Then they said they couldn’t forge ahead because Obama was president and they needed a Republican in the White House. Then Trump won. Today they have no excuse not to plow ahead… but what are they saying? They are saying now is not the time to fight. Now is the time to cool our jets and slow things down.amen

This never, ever happens when Democrats are in power. When Democrats are in power they launch into their agenda with full steam ahead quite regardless of whether or not they have an electoral “mandate.” Sadly, the Republican Party hasn’t had the spine to lead since it finally lost its post civil war lock on power when the socialist FDR era finally sent them packing.

Like I said, the GOP should assume that it will never have this much power again and at light speed they should sweep the Democrats and their legacy into the wastebasket of history with all haste. Not only is it what the Democrats would do — and have done decade after decade — but it is exactly what Republicans were sent to Washington to do.amen

Right now the Republican Party has a very weak coalition despite the cliff the Democrats fell off of. The GOP is at an uneasy crossroads between its weakling, past self, and its possible new, stronger self led by Trump. But right now it does not have a successful identity and if it slows Trump down and refuses to repeal Obamacare, refuses to lower taxes and improve our economy, won’t vote to build the wall, or won’t work to pass any of Trump’s main agenda, then it will not succeed. It will instead give the undeserving, un-American Democrats an easy path right back to power.

By refusing to support Trump, the GOP will commit suicide.

    human sex trafficking

Donald Trump has been President of the United States for just over a month and in that time, the mainstream media has been busy attacking Trump and other conservatives. They are so busy blasting Trump and his people over every little thing that they fail to report the many positives that he and his administration have been accomplishing in such a short time. Actually, the mainstream media hasn’t just failed to report the positive accomplishments, they are intentionally ignoring them and don’t want the public to know about them.

Were you aware that Barack Obama and his administration supported legalized prostitution with prostitutes as young as 10-years-old?american-children-sex-slaves

Obama and his administration fully supported many of the United Nations efforts to impose their will on our nation and others around the world. One of those initiatives took place in 2011 at the United Nations Youth Conference which was held in New York City. The conference was the stage for Y-PEER, a United Nations Population Fund initiative announced that youth need to have more sexual and reproductive rights including the right to choose (aka – abortion). While the statement does not define or specify an age limit for youth, the standard used by the United Nations in all of its dealings defines them as ages 10-24.

Part of the Y-PEER statement says:

“Young women’s health is threatened by policies and services that do not provide life-saving access to family planning and contraception.  It is vital to implement key effective measures in the continuum of care for maternal health, including access to safe abortion…The rights of marginalized young people, including those who are living with HIV, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, young men who have sex with men, sex workers, injecting drug users, disabled youth, young people in crisis situations and other vulnerable youth continue to be violated through policies and programmes that criminalize them and ignore their specific needs.”more-leftist-propaganda

In examining the Y-PEER statement, Family Research Council senior fellow Peter Sprigg said that the document implies the term ‘sex workers’ as meaning prostitutes.  Furthermore, Sprigg points out that they want to decriminalize prostitution and injecting drug users, which basically is a roundabout away of legalizing prostitution and drug use.i-am-not-for-sale

Paul Rondeau of the American Life League said:

“The United Nations has become the unsupervised playground and laboratory of the sex-industrial complex…Organizations like UNESCO, International Planned Parenthood, and now Y-PEERS demand more sexual rights and more abortions as the solutions to more HIV infections and more abortions for the ever-younger victims they pretend to serve… Within the statement absolutely stuffed with gobbledygook, it calls for disordered sexual behavior, prostitution, and IV drug use to be decriminalized.  Yet the leading cause of the spread of AIDS is sexual promiscuity followed by sharing needles in IV drug use. So, who benefits from decriminalizing these behaviors:  youth or sexual health agencies, providers, and pharmaceutical companies?”80-percent-women-and-children

Tyler Ament of the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute also expressed concerns over the statement’s desire of confidentiality for youth.  He points out that most 10-year-olds naturally turn to mom and dad for most things, but the Y-PEER statement wants to give these kids complete confidentially to the point that their parents and law enforcement officials will not be told of any activity or violations made against them.

Obama’s support of this UN initiative along with his push to legalize homosexuality and other perversions could explain why human sex trafficking was rampant during his 8 years in the White House. A large portion of human sex trafficking involves minors under the age of 18.american-children-sex-slaves

For example, in all of 2014, there were fewer than 400 arrests for human trafficking.

Unlike Obama, Donald Trump takes human sex trafficking seriously. in October 2012, Trump tweeted:

“Got to do something about these missing children grabbed by the perverts. Too many incidents – fast trial, death penalty.”

In the first month of Trump’s first term in office, there have been over 1,500 arrests for human sex trafficking, nearly four times the total for all of 2014 under Obama. Some of those arrests are detailed here.ATTA BOY

Now ask yourself why hasn’t the mainstream media been reporting on the huge number of arrests in Trump’s crackdown on human sex trafficking? In one month, he has accomplished far more than Obama did in a full year. Could it be the mainstream media doesn’t want you to know that Trump is doing a great job in protecting America’s women and children?

A man is detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), agents on October 14, 2015 in Los Angeles, California. ICE agents said the immigrant, holding a Green Card, was a convicted criminal and member of the Alabama Street Gang. ICE builds deportation cases against thousands of immigrants living in the United States. Green Card holders are also vulnerable to deportation if convicted of certain crimes. The number of ICE detentions and deportations from California has dropped since the state passed the Trust Act in October 2013, which set limits on California state law enforcement cooperation with federal immigration authorities. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents say that under the new Trump administration, they’ve been empowered to carry out their jobs, instead of being punished for insubordination and told not to arrest illegals. The New York Times interviewed 17 ICE agents across the country to talk about how the new atmosphere created under the Trump administration has allowed them to properly deport illegals. The Times described the agency under Trump as a “whirlwind of activity.”

“Before, we used to be told, ‘You can’t arrest those people,’ and we’d be disciplined for being insubordinate if we did,” said one ICE agent, who had worked with the agency for 10 years. “Now those people are priorities again. And there are a lot of them here.”

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday that the Trump administration’s goal was to “take the shackles off” agents.

Under the Obama administration, agents were told only to focus on deporting gang members and those with serious criminal histories.

“What part of illegal don’t people understand?” one agent commented on Obama-era policies in frustration. Now that ICE agents no longer fear the scourge from officials bent on providing cover for illegals, the unions for ICE and Border Patrol noted that morale has skyrocketed.

“As representatives of the nation’s frontline immigration officers and agents responsible for enforcing our laws and protecting our borders, we fully support and appreciate President Trump’s swift and decisive action to keep the American people safe and allow law enforcement to do its job,” the statement read. “Morale amongst our agents and officers has increased exponentially since the signing of the orders.”

Some agents have even started describing their jobs as “fun.”

This new-found empowerment is concerning to Democratic Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe, who protested to Department of Homeland Security Secretary John F. Kelly that Virginia residents are being detained “without cause or specific allegations of criminal activity.”words-of-a-leftist-propagandist

Resistance isn’t just coming from elected officials like McAuliffe, but also from local law enforcement in cities that have pledged to protect illegals from deportation. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and other officials have asked ICE agents to stop calling themselves “police” when conducting raids, as they say it’s reducing trust among residents.

Joint raids between police and DHS in Santa Cruz has devolved into a series of accusations from the local police chief that DHS was going after immigrants, as well, not just MS-13 gang members.

“The Department of Homeland Security, unbeknownst to us at the Santa Cruz Police Department, had acted outside the scope of this operation and had detained and removed a number of individuals from locations based upon their immigration status,” Chief Kevin Vogel said at a news conference. “The community has an absolute right to be angry over this. This has violated the trust of the community, and we cannot tell you how disappointed we are by the betrayal of the Department of Homeland Security.”liberal-propaganda-hogwash

It’s expected that the tension between local police authorities in liberal states like California and federal authorities will continue to escalate.

Trump said he wants to hire 5,000 more Border Patrol agents and 10,000 more ICE officers.ATTA BOY

The activists split up into an “inside team” — tasked with occupying “as many seats as we can” and an “outside team,” whose job was to “give [the media] the coverage they want” before joining the others inside. Activists were instructed to dress like conservatives and leave at home “any signifier that you’re a liberal” in order to blend in with constituents. The leftist activists strategized how best to “dominate” the question-and-answer section of the town hall and keep anyone “sympathetic” to Cassidy from asking a question.

The audio also reveals the activists laughing about “the poor people of Breaux Bridge” — local constituents — who might get stuck behind them. Local news coverage of the town hall said that “many attendees were turned away” from the town hall due to “capacity restrictions.”

“Game plan number one is to fill as many seats as we can, right? If it’s all of us in there and the poor people of Breaux Bridge are sitting behind us, well then tough luck for them,” said one organizer, identified by KPEL as James Proctor. His “poor people” comment drew laughs from the other activists.

“If we can arrange it so he doesn’t hear one sympathetic question–great. That only magnifies our impact,” Proctor said.partyof-deceit-spin-and-lies

KPEL identified Proctor as the leader of Indivisible Acadiana, a local branch of the national Indivisible organization, which has organized hostile Republican town halls all around the country. (RELATED: Anti-Trump Protesters To Begin Soliciting Tax-Deductible Donations)

“The Indivisible Guide does say that when you start to lose mob-rule-tyrannythe meeting, that’s when you boo and hiss,” one unidentified activist can be heard saying. “Right, I was going to say that,” another activist replied. Local news outlet The Advertiser reported that members of the crowd “frequently interrupted, expressing disagreement with some of Cassidy’s positions and shouting out their own questions.”

“The outside team will join the inside team in the hall after media coverage,” Proctor states at one point. “So what we’ll do is we’ll try to dominate enough, because–remember, the camera people especially are looking for some ‘b-roll’ and some quotes.”

“They’ve got three or four things to cover that day, this is just one of them,” Proctor said of media covering the town hall. “So we make sure we give them the coverage they want, and then everyone breaks and goes inside.”

Video from outside the event posted on YouTube shows protesters chanting, “Love not hate, that’s what makes America great.” One woman appears to be reading the chant from a script.point-counterpoint

    LISTEN:

The activists can be heard in the audio referencing a partner group’s protest of Sen. Cassidy in Metairie, Louisiana, as a possible source of inspiration. Protesters at that event booed the name “Jesus” during the opening prayer.

One woman can be heard on the audio saying she was in contact with the national Indivisible organization, a statement that Indivisible Acadiana denied over email after this article was published, claiming they: “were not in direct contact with the national group but “were in direct contact with some Indivisible groups in the Louisiana area who are also constituents of Senator Cassidy.”

Congressional Republicans have faced a wave of hostile town halls in recent weeks, due in part to the work of Indivisible and other leftist groups. (RELATED: Leader Of Portland Anti-Trump Protests Charged With Sexually Abusing Minor)

Indivisible recently partnered up with Organizing for Action, the activist group aligned with former President Obama, NBC News reported earlier this month. Additionally, Indivisible announced the formation of a new non-profit, designed to help fund the group’s efforts with tax-deductible donations.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was the target of similar protest efforts while on a diplomatic visit to Mexico. Although on foreign soil, that protest was organized by Democrats Abroad Mexico — an official arm of the Democratic party.
