Officials confirmed Monday that the team had disappeared in the country’s Kasai Central province — although it was unclear when exactly the incident took place.
“Sadly, it is true,” John Sharp told NBC News by phone. “At one point [during the journey], they were surprised, confronted and taken.”
Michael Sharp was abducted along with a Swedish U.N. worker named Zahida Katalan, three local drivers and a translator, Congo’s government and a U.N. official told The Associated Press.
The kidnap victim’s father, who is a 65-year-old professor at Hesston College in Kansas, said he had been given the same information.
John Sharp said his son was working as a coordinator with the United Nations Group of Experts for the Democratic Republic of Congo.
“He and a colleague, another member of a group of experts, and four Congolese people were together,” he said. “Three were drivers, one a translator and they were going on a mission, we don’t know what that mission was.”
The United States State Department and the U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa announced both are monitoring the situation along with the UN within the African country:
Charles Bambara, spokesman for the U.N. mission in the country known as MONUSCO, told the news agency that two experts from the mission have disappeared in the country.
“The United Nations and MONUSCO are doing all that is possible at this moment to locate the two experts,” he said.

U.S. attorneys Deirdre Daly of the District of Connecticut and Richard Hartunian of the Northern District of New York have both worked in the U.S. Department of Justice in various capacities for over 19 years, and are just a few months away from reaching the 20-year threshold necessary for certain federal benefits. Sessions agreed to allow them to stay on for a few more months in order to reach the 20-year mark.
Daly and Hartunian both expressed gratitude to Sessions and President Donald Trump, thanking them for their graciousness and promising to oversee a quick and orderly transition.
“I thank the Attorney General and the Administration for affording me the opportunity to remain as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut so that I might complete 20 years of service to the Department of Justice in October,” Daly said in a statement. “I look forward to continuing to work on behalf of the residents of Connecticut in my remaining time, and I will focus on an orderly transition as I complete what has been a rewarding tenure in the Office.”
“The Attorney General has graciously permitted me to remain as United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York through June of 2017 so that I can complete twenty years of service to the Department of Justice,” Hartunian said. “I am very grateful to the Attorney General and the Administration for this opportunity to finish up a 20-year career and I will do everything I can to assist in the orderly transition to my successor.”
An additional Obama-appointee, Dana Boente, will also remain in his post as U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. Boente served as acting attorney general after the president dismissed Sally Yates for refusing to defend his first executive order on refugees and migrants in court. Boente oversaw efforts to defend the directive’s legality during his brief tenure. He is now serving as acting deputy attorney general pending the confirmation of Rod Rosenstein, the president’s nominee for that post.

Commentary by As explained in lavish detail in Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism, liberals instinctively lunge toward treason. They say Putin is a “thug” and a “bully” who kills journalists. Liberals never used to mind Russian leaders killing journalists. Nor millions of scientists, writers, Christians, Jews, kulaks, Ukrainians and so on. Have you guys heard of the Evil Empire? Now Democrats are hypersensitive to a Russian leader’s flaws?
Liberals were cool with the show trials, the alliance with Hitler, the gulags, the forced starvations, the shooting down of American planes and goose-stepping through Eastern Europe. But that was when the Russian leader was Joseph Stalin or Nikita Khrushchev — not the beast Putin! Back then, liberals were spying for Stalin (Julius Rosenberg’s code name: “Liberal”), the U.S. president was calling the bloodthirsty dictator “Uncle Joe,” and The New York Times was covering up Stalin’s infamous crimes. In the storied history of fake news, the Times’ Walter Duranty won a Pulitzer Prize for his false reports denying the Ukrainian famine, in which more than 7 million people were deliberately starved to death. As far as the Times is concerned, those were Russia’s halcyon days!
Back when Russia was actually threatening America with nuclear annihilation, Jimmy Carter warned Americans about their “inordinate fear of communism.” Sting sang that “the Russians love their children, too.” But now liberals are hopping mad with Putin. They could never forgive Russia for giving up communism.
To add insult to injury, Putin embraced the Russian Orthodox Church! This was deeply offensive to fiercely Christophobic liberals. Russia’s descent into insanity and madness was clear when Putin refused to allow LGBTQ marches through Red Square. For having the same position on gays as Obama did, circa 2008, Russkies were walking on the fighting side of liberals!
Trump’s election victory was the capstone of the left’s rage with Putin. To explain the inexplicable, Putin was made the center of liberals’ axis of evil, the mastermind of a malevolent plot to steal the election from Hillary Clinton. That’s how liberals became born-again John Birchers, seeing Russians under every bed. Now, no fear of Russia is inordinate. The Russians do NOT love their children, too.
We really could have used some of this fighting spirit about 50 years ago when the Soviet Union sought total world domination and Stalin’s spies were crawling through the U.S. government. But back then, liberals were blackening the names of Whittaker Chambers, Richard Nixon and Sen. Joe McCarthy. (Later proved 100 percent correct by the top-secret Venona Project.)
Russia’s loss of the left’s esteem happened very quickly. In 2008, The New York Times editorial page demanded that Obama “signal to the Russians that he wants better relations,” and complained of the “alarming” deterioration of “Russian-American relations” under Bush.
It was considered the height of statesmanship when Obama was caught on a hot-mic in 2012, telling Russian president Dmitry Medvedev, “This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility. I understand you.” To hoots of laughter at the Democratic National Convention, Obama said: “You don’t call Russia our number one enemy — not Al-Qaida, Russia — unless you’re still stuck in a Cold War mind warp.”
MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow couldn’t contain her hilarity over the GOP offering “an extra bonus of threatening Russia.” But today, Democrats (and two especially showboating Republicans) are horrified that Trump wants to get along with Russia. Tonight, the threatening evil of Vladamir Putin will be the top issue on Rachel Maddow’s show, assuming she still has a show. (Maybe she can get a copy of Putin’s tax returns!)
When the same people who hailed Stalin as a beloved American ally are happy to threaten Putin with thermonuclear war, we may deduce that the left’s newfound Russia-phobia has some seditious objective. Historically, liberals show their manliness by demanding war with our friends and allies, while methodically undermining America’s ability to fight the wars it’s already in.

And who is a key ally in that fight? Russia has been dealing with these troublesome Muslims for centuries. It was Russian officials who tried in vain to warn our blind, incompetent government about the Boston Marathon bombers.
The left’s hysteria about Russia isn’t just an attempt to delegitimize Trump. It’s the usual Christophobic fifth column rooting for the Islamization of the West.

H/T Liftable:
Canadian winters can be harsh. Motorists can easily find themselves stranded on roadways, because of heavy snow and icy conditions. That’s exactly what happened to semi-truck driver Peter Douglas. The Winnipeg driver was captured by highway cameras after getting stuck on Highway 10, South of Brandon. Looking at the footage, it’s easy to see why; conditions were fierce. He was forced to sleep in his cab overnight, hoping the weather would clear up by next morning. Instead, he woke up to find someone quite surprising knocking on his door.
Eighteen-year-old Eileen Eagle Bears was watching the traffic cams with her mother, when they spotted the stranded truck driver just over 3 miles from their home. She told herself if he was still there when she looked again in the morning, she wanted to help. The next morning, Douglas was still stuck, so the teen got her horse, Mr. Smudge, and headed Douglas’ direction. The trip would be roughly one hour in the cold.
“There was a lot of ice on the road from the rain that we had got and drifts were bad in a few places,” Eagle Bears told CBC News.
Imagine Douglas’ surprise when he awoke to see a young woman, her horse, and a thermos filled with hot coffee outside his window. A gesture those same highway cameras caught on video.
“She had to walk that horse half a mile up that hill and half a mile down because it was so icy. Blew me away,” said Douglas to CTV News. “She said she saw me on the camera. Her and her family were watching.”
Douglas was so grateful for her kind gesture, and she promised him that if he were still stuck there later in the day, she would return with a hot meal. “He was just really glad that someone knew that he was there and that someone cared,” said Eagle Bears.
She did, in fact, return later that evening with another thermos. This time it was filled with stew and potatoes. She also brought him water.
“I thought he would be getting pretty hungry, and that’s not a good feeling, I just put on extra clothes and did what I promised I would,” Eagle Bears stated. What an amazing young woman!

Luis Gutierrez Arrested
Okay, maybe that’s not really surprising. But it is an important story that should be illustrative of a much larger problem in America today. The Democrats have fully embraced their position as the party of lawlessness. Illegal immigration, sanctuary cities, demanding that local authorities ignore the President’s lawful orders, cheering when the intelligence community illegally leaks top secret information… No matter where we turn today, we can see the Democrats wholeheartedly embracing lawlessness.
In Chicago on Monday Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) was briefly arrested by law enforcement after he and a group of protesters refused to leave the Immigration and Customs Enforcement offices in Chicago.

— Karen (@kssturgis62) March 13, 2017
Gutierrez continues to advocate for the criminal element of our nation while refusing to serve the people who he is actually supposed to be representing, but the good people of Chicago are suffering for the political choices that they’ve made. Whether it’s the violence of Chi-raq, or the failing schools and the striking teachers, or the high taxes, or the hostile business climate, Chicago continues to be both the heart of liberalism in America and the perfect example of how liberal policies can destroy a community. So, go ahead Chicago… keep on voting for your awful liberal politicians but please stop complaining about how terrible things have become in your city. You brought all of this on yourself with the way that you voted.

Alas, such is our current political and societal climate. Consider this:
Who’s right? Who’s wrong? Moreover, can a Christian even support Trump’s immigration policies?
It’s amazing how many on the Left discard the teachings of the Bible and Christ as being outdated, anachronistic, and even tyrannical. Abortion? Gay marriage? Sex? The Bible is wrong, wrong, wrong! Helping the poor and least among us, including immigrants? We’re not doing enough to follow the Bible!
But what does the Bible actually say? The Bible is unclear on the stance of immigration as we know it, of course, yet throughout the Old Testament, the stranger — or alien — was to be treated kindly and with respect, even provided for. “You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God” (Lev. 19:34).
The church instructs us that political authorities have two duties in governing the people. The first duty is to welcome the foreigner out of respect for the human person. This follows the commandment of God to treat the sojourner with respect and to love this person as ourselves. This is especially true if the immigrant is fleeing a place that does not respect the human person.
The short answer to this is yes: Christians certainly do have an obligation to accept immigrants. However, they do not have an obligation to accept immigrants who do not respect the laws of their nation — and that includes laws that protect national sovereignty and security.
Good government has the first and foremost obligation to protect its citizens. Without securing the borders, this becomes almost impossible to do so. Good governments must balance the duty to protect their citizens and the national common good with that of the international community. The obligation of prosperous nations to accept immigrants only extends to accepting law-abiding immigrants who also respect the spiritual heritage of the country, as well as hold the same respect for human dignity.
Furthermore, a nation cannot guarantee the safety of its citizens by accepting certain immigrants who cannot be vetted, as in the case of many immigrants who cross the border illegally. By not guaranteeing the safety of its citizens, the government is not fulfilling its duty of providing for the common good. If a nation cannot give security and protection to its own citizens, how can it possibly guarantee security of the international community?
President Donald Trump’s policies are to secure the border and enforce already existing immigration laws. By providing security to American citizens through strong borders, his administration is providing for the welfare of the common good. This security and welfare can then be spread to the immigrant population that respects the laws of our nation, including our immigration laws. These laws are not only in place to protect the current citizens — but also future citizens, including immigrants.

President Donald Trump’s White House has steadily ratcheted up the discomfort for many members of the Old Guard media. Spicer has allowed questions at press briefings from conservative outlets shunned by the Obama administration. The White House even allowed some bloggers to attend the briefings. Spicer began taking questions from local media, via Skype. And in the last five days, the slow burn caught up with the fuse.
On Monday, the New Yorker uncorked a long story on Trump and Spicer’s relationship with the White House press corps. The New Yorker reporter, Andrew Marantz, who had been working his angle of new conservative faces at the briefings for weeks, turned a sympathetic ear to the prima donnas of the briefing room. Marantz suggested Trump is “trolling the media” by letting in new conservative faces. To his credit, Marantz yanked some truly snobby quotes from the White House press corps. It’s as if Rodney Dangerfield has shown up at Bushwood Country Club again, and Judge Smails is not amused.
Marantz even got one veteran reporter to admit some of the front-row reporters are a “smug little cartel.” And if you ever doubt the elite media are an entitled group of folks, those doubts vanish after reading Marantz’s piece in the March 20 edition. Marantz notes most of the correspondents at right-of-center outlets — the ones without assigned seats at the briefing room — are under 30. (LifeZette’s White House correspondent is 50.) Marantz lets the anonymous (and perhaps older) White House correspondents lather on the calumny.
“At best, they don’t know what they’re doing,” a radio correspondent told Marantz. “At worst, you wonder whether someone is actually feeding them softball questions.”
Marantz notes the New York Post got the first question at Spicer’s second briefing. And that LifeZette got the first question at Spicer’s third. These things still fascinate the media. It shows the pecking order has been disrupted. But a few things have so far not been disrupted. The elite media still feel entitled, that much is clear. They are still predominantly liberally biased — that is obvious, too. And they still have a herd mentality that has not helped the health of the U.S. media.
The carping at the White House will likely not drown out new voices. Just as liberal outlets The Huffington Post and Buzzfeed grew to great heights under President Obama, it’s likely the new conservative media will find its groove with a Republican in the White House.

In an interview with Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” that aired this week, Trump explained that his administration’s seemingly lack of political appointees has been an effort to shrink the size of the federal government.
“When I see a story about ‘Donald Trump didn’t fill hundreds and hundreds of jobs,’ it’s because, in many cases, we don’t want to fill those jobs,” he said.
When pressed on the fact that he has 600 empty positions, Trump doubled down on his reasoning behind the situation.
“A lot of those jobs, I don’t want to appoint, because they’re unnecessary to have,” the president explained. “You know, we have so many people in government, even me. I look at some of the jobs and it’s people over people over people. I say, ‘What do all these people do?’ You don’t need all those jobs.”
He’s right. In fact, there are more than 4,000 roles for political appointees throughout government, according to the Center for Presidential Transition.
“Many of those jobs I don’t want to fill,” Trump said. “I say, isn’t that a good thing? That’s not a bad thing. That’s a good thing. We’re running a very good, efficient government.”
Watch Trump’s comments here:
Some positions in the federal government have been needed to ensure that things run smoothly, but the problem is that, even with thousands of people, things haven’t been running smoothly (see: Social Security, the Department of Veteran Affairs and the State Department — just to name a few.) Democrats might not be able to grasp the concept of leaving a government job unfilled, even if it’s not necessary. But a businessman has no problem with the idea at all.

Drawing from Barnes and Noble bargain bin classics like “A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton,” “Jimmy Carter: A Comprehensive Biography from Plains to Post-Presidency,” and scores of others, Knowles has created an exhaustive list of every great idea that forms the foundation of Democratic political thought.
While many books designed to persuade readers to open their hearts and minds to the Democratic Party provide a deluge of platitudes, cherry-picked statistics, and revisionist history, Knowles has steered clear of all such devices and delivered a full catalog of the Democratic Party’s greatest achievements, their philosophical triumphs, and their most notable contributions to our political system based on nothing but cold hard facts.
The research contained within this volume is not merely “thorough” but complete. Nary a tweed-sporting, pipe-smoking, Ivy League professor could have examined the history of the Democratic Party with more ferocious brevity than Knowles manages.
His observational prowess mirrors that of Sherlock Holmes — not the stodgy, old Victorian one that demands a long attention span but the pop-culture-icon, Benedict Cumberbatch one. Like an un-mustachioed version of Magnum, P.I., Knowles investigates the history of the Democrats from the Trail of Tears, to the creation of the Ku Klux Klan, all the way to Obamacare and the Iransom payment (none of which made Knowles’s list of reasons to vote for Democrats), he pulls upon the thread of left-wing self-righteousness, poor decision-making, and outright mendacity from its Jacksonian roots to its Clintonian climax and back down into its Obamian denouement. Without abandoning his laser-esque focus on the overarching thesis of the narrative, the author is able to show the reader all the ways in which America would be better without her flirtations with Republican presidencies like those of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan.
The structure of the book makes it accessible to the average reader as well as the seasoned scholar by breaking down the list of reasons to vote Democrat by subject matter. For instance, a reader who wonders “why should I vote for a party that doesn’t believe American workers should be entitled to the fruits of their labor” can simply turn to the chapter titled “Economics” and discover the stark totality of reasons. For the reader who wonders, “What possible reason could there ever be to vote for a party who believes that President Obama’s trademark Lead-From-Behind-ism is a sustainable way for America to interact with others in an increasingly dangerous world?” Wonder no more! Twenty pages of the book is dedicated to chronicling the steps that Democrats have taken to make the world safer, freer, and more prosperous.
Despite its deep and meticulous research, this book is not an “all info, no style” experience for the reader. It is not a dark and bumpy subway ride to endure in the quest for facts. It is a wind-in-the-face roller coaster adventure where the journey and the destination offer up equal reward. Knowles’s minimalistic style of writing reaches levels of concision that will astound readers.
The popularity of Knowles’ book — which is currently the #1 best-selling book on Amazon, even though it inexplicably disappeared from Amazon while he was plugging it on the Saturday morning episode of “Fox & Friends” — ensures that this will not be a standalone work. One can merely speculate that Knowles, at this very moment is sitting at his desk pounding away at the space bar as he churns out volume two. Perhaps, something to the tune of, “How Progressive Economics Took Me to the Top,” “The Foreign Policy Achievements of our 44th President,” or “Ethical Achievements of the American Left.”
This volume also contains historic photographs of America’s great Democratic Party leaders, making it well worth the cover price of $8.99. Not yet available for Kindle or Kindle Fire.

Dead End: Senate Intelligence Dems Admit There May Be ZERO Evidence Of Collusion Between Russians And Trump Campaign
A month into its sweeping investigation into the Kremlin’s efforts to undermine the US election, the Senate Intelligence Committee is expected to answer all those questions — publicly, coherently, and fast. As the days tick by, they’re less and less sure they’ll be able to.
Even some Democrats on the Intelligence Committee now quietly admit,
after several briefings and preliminary inquiries, they don’t expect to find evidence of active, informed collusion between the Trump campaign and known Russian intelligence operatives, though investigators have only just begun reviewing raw intelligence. Among the Intelligence Committee’s rank and file, there’s a tangible frustration over what one official called “wildly inflated” expectations surrounding the panel’s fledgling investigation.
Since the probe was first announced in December — days after the FBI and CIA told Congress they believed the Kremlin had worked to elect Trump — political infighting has fundamentally shifted its mandate. Instead of a surgically precise examination of the raw intelligence that led US agencies to conclude the Kremlin attempted to tilt the election, the Intelligence Committee investigation has quickly become the catch-all for any politician’s lingering questions related to Moscow. Now, several committee sources grudgingly say, it feels as though the investigation will be seen as a sham if the Senate doesn’t find a silver bullet connecting Trump and Russian intelligence operatives.
“I don’t think the conclusions are going to meet people’s expectations,” a second official said.
[…]
Lost in the political shuffling is the fact — concluded by 17 US intelligence agencies — that the upper echelons of Russia’s government directed an operation aimed at manipulating and disrupting the US election, and to a notable degree, succeeded. Short of an impeachable offense, officials are concerned the public is missing the forest for the trees.
So, the first part is something we’ve known for a bit: there’s zero evidence of so-called collusion, though that has not quelled the Democrats’ obsession with Russia. Any Trump aide who has met with a Russian foreign official is considered a breadcrumb on a trail could point to collusion, where in reality it’s probably a case of both sides doing their jobs; the Russian meeting with staffers of a person who could potentially become the next president of the United States and the Trump aide meeting with the Russian aide and the officials of other nations to establish a possible working relationship. This is not unusual. It’s also not unusual for members of Congress to meet with foreign officials as well, especially if you’re on the Senate Armed Services Committee, like former senator and current Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
As we’ve noted before, it quite interesting how in four years, Democrats can go from laughing at Republicans for suggesting that Russia is our biggest geopolitical foe to public enemy number one in less than five years. Some on the Left have also noted this descent into Russophobia concerning meetings between Trump aides and Russia is nothing more than “neo-McCarthyite furor” that could damage relations on future projects.
Also, the propaganda and fake news that was peddled by the Kremlin through social media trolls and their state-funded media outlets had zero impact on the election. Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg said their platform, which was used disseminate some of these stories did not sway the election, The Economist reported on a study that also concluded that fake news did not play a pivotal role in the 2016 election. Russia didn’t succeed in undermining Clinton’s presidential ambition. Hillary Clinton did that to herself. Period.

A Day Without Idiots
Should they go back to immigrants? No, no one cared last time. They can’t repeat women after having just done women. Besides, like with immigrants, no one outside of newsrooms gave a damn or really noticed.
How about LGBTQ? “ A Day Without A Gay”? It does have a certain ring to it. But again, the problem is who is going to notice? Americans don’t run around spotting gay people and attempting to “otherize” them, as leftists like to say. And the crocheted design, not to mention the sales or the cost of extra yarn, might leave something to be desired.
There is, however, one group of people the political left has a stranglehold on which is large enough to be noticed by all, though perhaps not missed, if they were to “strike” for one day: idiots.
Might I suggest the next “A Day Without” protest be “A Day Without Idiots.” Newsrooms would be empty. People would notice the normally vacant head of hair reading the nightly news being replaced by an empty chair…eventually…probably. There certainly would be fewer interpretive dances at city council meetings.
Government agencies would undoubtedly be forced to close if idiots took the day off. But if the “strike” was successful, and all idiot-Americans refused to participate in any activities that day, the absence of government employees would go unnoticed by most since their customers would be out as well.
No TV or movie production would take place that day; Hollywood would be as empty as the space between the ears this year’s award winners. Concerts would be cancelled, Broadway a ghost town. Hell, New York would be empty; California would collectively go to the beach. Left lanes on freeways would only be filled by people going fast, blindly j-walking in the middle of a block across a one-way street while texting and looking the wrong way would not happen. Fast-food drive-thrus would move efficiently with the “anchors” on the crew playing X-Box at home. See, it’s not all bad.
Marginally talented comedians wouldn’t accuse anyone with brain cancer of having “Nazi hair” simply because they don’t agree with them politically. It would also spare the country non-apology apologies for a day. No one would have to issue a “We deeply apologize for offending” tweets to said cancer patients for having “Nazi hair” while remaining silent on all the other people they accused of the same.
Who would have thought we’d come to a point in human history where accusing random strangers of being a Nazi based on having a hairstyle Brad Pitt recently sported because they committed the perceived sin of not agreeing with the accuser politically would only elicit an apology when the recipient is discovered to have a horrible disease but not a blanket apology for making the accusation against 3 other people? Wouldn’t you like a day without more of that? Wouldn’t you like a day without any of this? Just one day?
A Day Without Idiots would empty college campuses , as students, professors, and administrators all marched in solidarity against the injustice of not being able to afford what you want to do for spring break or the horrors of white women wearing hoop earrings.
Since we’ll all be supporting these gender and ethnic justice studies participation ribbon recipients once they graduate now that burger-flipping machines are taking over the jobs for which they are most qualified, a day without them would serve as a nice thank you in advance. Sure, the best vegan restaurants might be forced to close that day for lack of staff, but since there is no such thing as a good vegan restaurant, we, like “The Dude” in The Big Lebowski, will abide.
Best of all, Congress would be out of session for another day this year. And any day Congress is out of session is a good day for America. One day without politicians swearing to you the GOP Obamacare repeal plan is greatest bill ever or another one swearing it will lead to the end of the Republic or people dropping dead in the streets. Wouldn’t a day off from that be nice?
Liberals are fast running out of a “victim” groups to grant martyr status to, it’s time they got creative. And it’d be nice if they were generous with something besides other people’s money, for once. They should give the country a day off from them. While “A Day Without Idiots” might not be to their liking, as long as the concept remains, they can call it whatever they want. Maybe they can even find a way to sell more of those stupid hats. Anything, as long as they leave us the hell alone, for even one day.

Organizers said the event at a sports arena on the University of Miami campus was livestreamed to locations in all 50 states. ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero said 200,000 people had signed up to attend one of an estimated 2,000 local events. The event, staged in town hall style, was aimed at capitalizing on numerous demonstrations since Trump’s election in November and to make sure people know their rights to protest, Romero said. He said priority issues are immigration, the First Amendment free speech and religious freedom rights, civil and reproductive rights and rights of gay, lesbian and transgender people.
“We will bring all the lawsuits necessary to defend these rights,” Romero said. “We’ll do the work in the courts. You do the work in the streets. People are motivated. They want to be engaged.”
The ACLU also launched a new grassroots online organizing platform called PeoplePower.org. It’s billed as a way for people considering a local protest or rally to connect and coordinate with others around the country with similar intentions, and to provide details of ACLU initiatives.
Another plan is creation of “freedom cities” around the country that would encourage local officials to pass laws resisting Trump policies such as stepped-up deportations of people living in the country illegally, said Faiz Shakir, ACLU national political director.
Other parts of Saturday’s event detailed the rules for demonstrations on streets, sidewalks and in public parks, and the rights people have when arrested such as the right to remain silent. ACLU attorney Lee Rowland said large demonstrations generally require a local permit, but government can’t typically shut down protesters in public places without good reason.
“The government can’t censor you just because it disagrees with your opinion,” Rowland said.
Also speaking at the event was Padma Lakshmi, an Indian-born cookbook author, actress, model and television host. She said she emigrated to the U.S. at age four and said the nation appears to be retreating from its welcoming ways. “Lately I’ve started to feel like an outsider,” she said. “What makes America great is our culture of inclusion. We must not tolerate the intolerance.”

“As was the case in prior transitions, many of the United States Attorneys nominated by the previous administration already have left the Department of Justice,” Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores said in a statement. “The Attorney General has now asked the remaining 46 presidentially appointed U.S. Attorneys to tender their resignations in order to ensure a uniform transition.”
“Until the new U.S. Attorneys are confirmed, the dedicated career prosecutors in our U.S. Attorney’s Offices will continue the great work of the Department in investigating, prosecuting, and deterring the most violent offenders,” she added.
Dana Boente, the U.S. attorney for the eastern district of Virginia, was not among those asked to resign. He served as acting attorney general for several days after the Trump administration dismissed acting Attorney General Sally Yates for refusing to defend the president’s first executive order on refugees and migrants in court. He currently is serving as acting deputy attorney general, pending the confirmation of Rod Rosenstein. Rosenstein is U.S. attorney for the district of Maryland. He also was asked to remain in place.
The New York Times reports Preet Bharara, the U.S. attorney for the southern district of New York, was among those asked to step aside. Trump himself asked Bharara to remain in office during the transition, though it was never clear how long Bharara would continue to man his post. The Manhattan-based prosecutor is a fixture of national headlines, after numerous high profile investigations of Wall Street financiers and public officials in New York state, including individuals close to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee expressed concern about the dismissals in a statement released late Friday. The senator characterized the departures as abrupt, and asserted they reflect a disorderly transition at DOJ.
“In January, I met with Vice President Pence and White House Counsel Donald McGahn and asked specifically whether all U.S. attorneys would be fired at once,” she said. “Mr. McGahn told me that the transition would be done in an orderly fashion to preserve continuity. Clearly this is not the case. I’m very concerned about the effect of this sudden and unexpected decision on federal law enforcement.”
Several unnamed sources told CNN many prosecutors learned of their dismissal through media reports, and that senior officials had not communicated clearly with U.S. attorneys about staffing changes. The report does not make clear whether any of the sources are currently serving in the Justice Department, or if they were even familiar with the internal deliberations of the Trump administration with respect to this issue.
There are 94 U.S. Attorneys, all of whom are appointed by the president.

The ABA announced the vote Thursday in a letter to Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley and California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the chairman and ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, respectively. Grassley celebrated the letter on Twitter, saying Gorsuch is “well on his way to [the] Supreme Court.”
“The ABA Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary has completed its evaluation of the professional qualifications of Judge Neil M. Gorsuch, whom the President has nominated to the United States Supreme Court. As you know, the Committee confines its evaluation to the qualities of integrity, professional competence, and judicial demeanor,” the letter states. “After an exhaustive evaluation process, the Committee has determined by unanimous vote that Judge Gorsuch is ‘Well Qualified’ for the position of Associate Justice of the Supreme Court.”
Trump nominated Gorsuch on January 31 to fill the seat of the late Justice Antonin Scalia.
Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has already indicated he will drag out the confirmation process for Gorsuch.
President Trump previously urged Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to use the nuclear option to prevent a filibuster of Gorsuch’s nomination if needed.

Three brothers who provided computer services to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., among others, are being investigated for improprieties that include financial ties to Middle East terrorism. (Photo: Solar/ACE Pictures/Newscom)

Fairfax County is just outside Washington. A relative described the woman’s life as being completely controlled by the brothers for months while they schemed to take their father’s life insurance. Authorities said the brothers–who as IT professionals for Congress could read House members’ emails– used wiretapping devices on their own stepmother and threatened to abduct loved ones in Pakistan if she didn’t give them access to money stowed away in that country.
On Feb. 2, House officials banned Imran, Abid, and Jamal Awan from the House network as part of a Capitol Police criminal investigation into the House’s computer security.

Meeks said although the brothers had access to his data, he’d “seen no evidence that they were doing anything that was nefarious” like steal or hack, and were being unfairly picked on for being Muslim.
But a Fairfax police report obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group says that separately from that investigation, on Thursday, Jan.5, at 2 p.m., the stepmother, Samani Galani, called police “after her stepchildren were denying her access to her husband of eight years, Muhammad Shah, who is currently hospitalized.” Police said they responded to the Springfield, Virginia, home Galani shared with Shah.
“I made contact with her stepson, Abid, who responded to location and was obviously upset with the situation. He stated he has full power of attorney over his father and produced an unsigned, undated document as proof,” officers wrote. “He refused to disclose his father’s location.”
The father died days later, with his children denying him a final moment with Galani. His body was taken to Pakistan, where the family has significant assets. Galani was shocked to learn that his death certificate listed him as divorced, according to a relative of Galani’s. The relative spoke only on condition of anonymity.
“They kept their stepmother in sort of illegal captivity from Oct. 16, 2016, to Feb. 2,” the relative said, telling Galani they were in charge of her life and she was not allowed to speak to anyone.
The fact that she did not speak English made it easy for them to take advantage of her, the relative said. When Shah was hospitalized, “they would not let the father communicate with the wife, they would say he’d be meeting her when they said so.”
The brothers bugged Galani’s house with hidden listening devices and told her “her movements were under constant surveillance and conversations within the house and over the telephone were being listened to,” the relative said. “They would repeat what she had told people to prove that they were really listening.”
“This happened in the United States of America, can you believe it?”
Galani obtained a secret cell phone and stood in the yard to communicate with relatives, who encouraged her to call police, the relative said.
After she did, Abid “threatened her very severely, made her fearful,” the relative said, and the brothers “told her they are going to abduct or kidnap her family back in Pakistan, and she had to apologize.” Imran then tried “to manipulate her,” the relative said. “She said to him ‘If you say you are my son then why are you keeping my phone conversations listened to?’ So he said he would remove the devices. He came into the house and she saw him remove a couple,” including under the kitchen counter.
But as soon as Shah died, the stepmother’s relative said, the brothers came into the house and “whatever documents were there they stole, a couple laptops which were their father’s property, and [they] left for Pakistan.” Then Imran called and demanded that Galani give him power of attorney–this time a Pakistani version–for assets in his father’s name there, instructing Jamal to take her to the Pakistani embassy in Washington, the relative said. “He sent a couple of people to pressure her.” Galani learned from a life insurance executive that “a few days before the father’s death, the beneficiary was changed and Abid became the beneficiary,” the relative said. On top of that, the Springfield house where she lived would go to Abid.
Galani fled from the brothers and has filed a second police complaint with Fairfax County over insurance fraud and other abuses. Abid did not return a request for comment from The Daily Caller News Foundation.Galani’s relative came forward because members of Congress have attempted to downplay the brothers’ potential crimes, and limited the investigation to the Capitol Police, who lack the ability to investigate cyber breaches and international crimes and despite naming the brothers as suspects, have not even arrested them.
“I am fighting to protect the country,” the relative said. “These are very bad people.”
Politico reported that Imran and his wife, Hina Alvi, are personal friends with Wasserman Schultz, who presided over the Democratic National Committee when it was subject to an email hack that she angrily blamed on Russians. Wasserman Schultz has not fired Imran, although he is banned from the House network, and circumvented the ban by having him serve as an “adviser.”
Imran began working for the Florida Democrat in 2005 and soon after, his two brothers and two of their wives all appeared on the congressional payroll, collecting more than $4 million from Congress. The brothers had numerous additional sources of income, all of which seemed to disappear. While they were supposedly working for the House, the brothers were running a car dealership full time that didn’t pay its vendors. While the brothers were working for House members, including members of the Homeland Security and Foreign Affairs committees, the car dealership took but did not repay a $100,000 loan from Ali Al-Attar, a fugitive from U.S. authorities who has been linked to Hezbollah.

Talking to Your Kids About Transgenderism
It’s easy to forget that young children can easily misread our intensity.- Rob Jackson
As a mental health professional, I’m more concerned about transgenderism than I am homosexuality. In a separate post, I’ve written about the increased rates of physical and mental health concerns experienced by transgender individuals. Based on these and other trends, including the recent alarm sounded by the American College of Pediatricians, I predict that transgenderism will eventually prove more prevalent and damaging than other variants of LGBTQ sexuality.
As a Christian, all sexual sins concern me, including those committed by heterosexuals, but transgenderism is especially alarming from a spiritual perspective, too. It not only goes against nature (as does homosexuality,) it requires hormone therapy, body enhancements with silicon and/or surgery, and the altered biological reality of sexual reassignment. While the ACP is correct in their concern for the physical and mental health challenges associated with gender identity disorders, I believe the spiritual wounds are far greater still. We Christian parents now have another level of spiritual attack from which we must guard our children’s developing identity.
In my work as a Christian therapist I frequently meet with parents who are concerned for their children’s sexuality. Childhood exposure to pornography opens Pandora’s Box where counterfeit versions of sexuality abound. For example, in a recent week of intensive therapy with parents and their 11 year-old daughter, I was saddened, though not surprised, to learn their precious child had seen pornographic videos. Porn sites hold nothing back. A curious child is likely to see a wide array of sexual expressions, including, of course, transgenderism.
Here are some ways I encouraged that little girl’s parents to speak with her about healthy sexuality. These four qualities will keep the conversation relational and effective as we talk to our kids about any important subject. They are especially important as we shepherd a child’s developing sexuality. I hope they will help equip you and your spouse to broach the sensitive issues emerging from today’s porn-saturated culture.
Frequency. The US Treasury issues authentic dollar bills frequently, and updates about counterfeits occasionally. You have the privilege of teaching your children daily about God’s plan for new life in Christ. By focusing primarily on the standards that honor him, your children will be more apt to detect counterfeit philosophies and practices of all types, including transgenderism. If, instead, you talk more about the negative than the positive, you may actually cause your children to be over-focused on the sins of our culture. A final caveat is in order here, though. Teachable moments abound in today’s sex-saturated culture. Strive for balance. You don’t have to capture every teachable moment, ruining family outings and creating the dreaded eye-roll response. Balance is key.
Tone. Tone reveals attitude, so check your heart before you speak. Be mindful of how you talk about people who live as transgendered individuals. Kids can tell whether you are working from a position of love versus one of fear or hatred.
Take for example, the ongoing media saga of Bruce Jenner’s attempted gender switch. Recent reports say he has challenged Trump’s reversal of the bill that would allow transgendered people to use the restroom of the opposite biological gender. Now, I find Jenner’s appearance as a woman unconvincing, and there’s a good chance you do, too. It’s easy to find something to critique there. But we can’t be genuinely concerned for this person while speaking in unloving ways about him. When we speak to our children about Jenner and other transgender individuals, we need to voice our convictions and concerns with compassion. If we don’t feel compassion for him in our heart, we need to deal with our unloving attitude before God first, then speak to our children when that sin is resolved.
Intensity. Most Christian parents I know are increasingly concerned and even outraged by the dramatic shift in our culture. According to the liberal media, transgenderism should be considered the new normal. Now, your child is likely to see a new transgender doll when you take her shopping. Righteous indignation over this form of child abuse is the natural response for evangelical Christians. But strong feelings do not justify the misuse of our emotions as we respond.
Along with tone, intensity communicates what we really feel about a subject. Here again, we must take care to respond to our children, and not react to a topic. Our anger over the culture’s promotion of transgenderism, or fear that our child might be led into sexual sin, can quickly ramp up the intensity of our response. Our intensity may trigger an unwarranted sense of shame or blame in our kids. It’s easy to forget that young children can easily misread our intensity. They react to our reactions and may shut down to avoid our anger. At this point, we ourselves have become the problem to avoid in our children’s eyes, rather than the sin we so vehemently protest.
Duration. I’ve always told parents that, when it comes to sex, micro-conversations are way more effective than “the talk.” Specific to this topic, our sermonizing will also create reactions for or against transgenderism. We must bear in mind what the priority here should be. We don’t just want a robot that thinks correctly or a puppet that spouts good theology. We want our child to love Christ and desire to imitate Him in word and deed.
How do we accomplish this lofty goal? A good place to start is to be sensitive to our child’s body language, countenance, and overall receptivity when we talk. Make sure that we’re actually having a conversation and not a monologue. It’s pretty obvious when our child is checking out mentally. When this happens, chances are we missed earlier cues that she needed a break.
Related Topics. Younger children need us to connect the dots for them. Explain each letter of the LGBTQ acronym as simply as possible, based on the age and maturity of your child. Tell him about each of the five counterfeit lifestyles that are becoming more popular as humanity falls further from the genuine standard God declares in the Bible.
Resources. In addition to writing for The Stand, I’ve also written commissioned articles for Focus on the Family. You can find a list of articles about Christian sexuality here.
Finally, I never intend to speak or write about LGBTQ issues without conveying my genuine love and concern for individuals in this community, and for those who are beginning to experiment with their sexuality. While The Stand’s readership is predominantly conservative, evangelical Christians, I’m sure that some reading this post don’t agree with me. God reveals biblical truths to his children. Without a redeemed love for Christ, a person can’t be expected to love God’s Word or desire or be able to live like His Son.
As our culture continues to erode even more quickly than many of us could have predicted, let’s seek peace with God, and teach our children the good news about new life in Christ. As we do this, let’s also be kind to our neighbors who differ from us in appearance and practice, for we are far more alike as humans than our appearance, faith, and politics may reveal.

putin-trump-obama
That’s the question being asked in the Daily Caller today, after a story in Circa made major headlines early Thursday morning. U.S. officials, who spoke with Circa on the condition that they remain anonymous, explained that a rule change made by the Obama administration just 8 days before leaving office has led to the havoc that we are currently seeing in the intelligence community.
Obama changed the way National Security Agency intelligence is shared 8 days before leaving office, which allows globally intercepted communications to be disseminated across the entire intelligence community.
The change was part of a post-9/11 push by the executive branch to increase intelligence sharing, to ensure that NSA analysts do not miss critically important information. The change is “simply widening the aperture for a larger number of analysts, who will be bound by the existing rules,” the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said at the time.
Obama administration officials also scrambled to spread classified intelligence related to Russian meddling in the 2016 election to as many people within the U.S. government as possible. These officials said they spread the intelligence around to ensure Trump administration officials would not be able to quash the investigation. The officials also fought to keep the related intelligence at a low-classified level, giving more officers access to the raw information.
However as the officials made clear to Circa the people who now have the classified information in their hands don’t actually understand what it is they are reading, seeing, or even saying!
“We have people spouting off who don’t know the difference between FISA surveillance and a wiretap or a counterintelligence probe versus a special prosecutor, and it has hurts our ability to get to the truth and has wrongly created the impression that intelligence officials have a political agenda,” said one source directly familiar with the drama.
The information collected really has nothing to do with Trump or his team, it’s all about Russia, but because of the Obama administration’s meddling, the entire story has become convoluted and the media’s distortion is only making matters worse. While the FBI did briefly monitor one of President Trump’s servers, they found nothing illegal and they most certain did not intercept any emails or phone calls from the Trump team.
Sadly, because of the mess that the Obama team has created the intelligence community will now have a far more difficult time simply doing their job.
Many of the leaks have surfaced since former President Barack Obama in his waning days in office had his intelligence leadership brief a wider than normal audience about the sensitive Russia surveillance. Those leaks have created a false narrative that the FBI has been predominantly focused on Trump ties to Russia, officials said.
In fact, any FBI activity involving the president’s associates or advisers was mostly ancillary to a wider counterintelligence probe into Russian efforts to influence the election or curry favor with U.S. figures, the sources said.
“The (Trump-Russia) narrative in the media hasn’t been our primary focus and mostly involves pieces of information that came in incidentally. We check them out and we move on,” one official said, adding most of the work has involved old-fashioned investigative tactics and not surveillance.
Added another official: “I’ve never seen a case so misrepresented and leaks so damaging to a process that was meant to be conducted in secret so that foreign powers don’t know what we know and people’s reputations aren’t tarnished unfairly.”

“I’m a proud Latino immigrant here in the United States. You know exactly what is going on here in the US. There are many people who do not want us to be here and who want to create a wall in order to separate us. But you know what, this is also our country. Let me repeat this, our country, not theirs, it’s our country.”
What exactly did Mr. Ramos mean by saying that this is not “their” country? Who’s the “our,” and who’s the “their?”
In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Ramos said that he was talking about people who support the President. “The interesting thing is with the Trump administration and many people who support Donald Trump they think it is their country, that it is a white country,” he told Carlson. “And they are absolutely wrong.” He said that the country doesn’t belong to those people. “This is our country, it is yours, it is mine and it is ours,” he said.
He went on to say that 27 years from now, the U.S. will no longer be a white majority country:
“This is not a white country, this is not their country, it is ours, and that is precisely what I’m saying… Look in 2044, the white population will become a minority, it will be a minority-majority country, that is precisely what I’m saying. Latinos, Asians, African-Americans, whites, it is our country, Tucker.”
Basically, if you’re someone who disagrees with Mr. Ramos, then regardless of where you were born, this is not ‘your’ country, and you should have no right to try to shape its immigration policies. But if you do agree with him, then it is your country, and you should have right to dictate immigration policies.

Image: Illegals Crossing Border Drop 40 Percent
The downturn came after President Donald Trump took office on Jan. 20 vowing to deport many of the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States.
The flow of illegal border crossings as measured by apprehensions and the prevention of inadmissible persons at the southern border dropped to 18,762 persons in February from 31,578 in January, Kelly said in a statement.
He said the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency, which compiled the data, historically sees a 10 percent to 20 percent increase in apprehensions of illegal immigrants from January to February.
On Jan. 25, Trump ordered the construction of a wall along the roughly 2,000-mile
(3,200-km) U.S.-Mexico border, moved to strip federal funding from “sanctuary” states and cities that harbor illegal immigrants, and expanded the force of U.S. immigration agents.
“Since the administration’s implementation of Executive Orders to enforce immigration laws, apprehensions and inadmissible activity is trending toward the lowest monthly total in at least the last five years,” Kelly said.

Trump vs the Deep State Obama

Why are these deep state government employees doing this? For no other reason than to protect their undeserved jobs, their unelected power, and their rich pensions all at the expense of you and me, the U.S. taxpayer. Like thieves, they want to make sure they can continue their grift to our detriment.
As conservatives, we are used to advocating to “vote them all out of office.” We are also fond of saying we want that agency or this agency to be closed down. But in all the years that conservatives have been espousing this goal, there has never been any real movement in that direction. Until, that is, Donald J. Trump entered the White House.
Not only do we have a president who is used to the logical business practice of firing people who aren’t performing to expectations, but we also have advising him Stephen Bannon, a man whose stated goal has for years been to disempower the administrative state that oppresses this nation.
So, we live in an exciting time for small government conservatism. As conservatives we should now be taking up the call to fire every government worker from the smallest village receptionist or sewer worker to the staffers of the highest Senator and every menial clerk and recalcitrant paper shuffler in between.
I recognize that we won’t get that out come and that we do need some government workers, granted. But we need to drive the discussion to the most desired end instead of hedging for “reasonable” cuts. Why? Because in Washington, “reasonable” cuts are never cuts at all.
Donald Trump knows well the art of the deal. As a movement, we need to learn it too. Come to the table with your dearest wishes right up front and negotiate from there. Don’t come to the table with 1/4 of a loaf to be “reasonable” and then negotiate half of that away just to “get a deal.”
I am not just railing at the famously lazy government worker here. It’s also not just that many government workers are better paid than just about any real American in the private sector — whether they deserve it or not. It’s not because they are often impossible to fire, nor is it because they get a better pension and more comprehensive health care than anyone who really contributes to society… our campaign to fire every government worker is all that, yes, but it is far, far more.
One example of how pernicious government employment has become is reflected in an editorial once published by Investor’s Business Daily titled “The New Beltway Babylon.” This piece reported that Washington D.C. had replaced Silicon Valley and even New York as the center of affluence in the U.S.A.
How can the seat of government in a capitalist society double as its seat of wealth? The late Milton Friedman, who warned about the growing mix of government in the U.S. economy, must be turning in his grave.
According to the Census Bureau, the nation’s three richest counties — and half the top 10 — are now all located near Washington, where they gorge on the tax dollars you send there.
This is no less than an affront to true American principles.
At the time IBD pegged this rise in affluence in the area surrounding D.C. to government contracts created by defense and Homeland Security programs bringing in people to fulfill those needs. But, it is surely a larger problem than just the temporary need for Homeland security programs. The problem is more widespread than that.
To start with, government workers make up the single biggest segment of unionized labor in the U.S. As the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports, “The union membership rate for government workers (36.2 percent) was substantially higher than for private industry workers (7.4 percent). Within the public sector, local government workers had the highest union membership rate, 41.9 percent.” The National Center for Policy Analysis finds those stats alarming. “The nation’s 16 million state and local government workers form a large, growing, and well-compensated class in society,” the report found before going on to say, “State and local workers earned $36 per hour in wages and benefits in 2005, on average, compared to $24 per hour for U.S. private-sector workers…”
Not only is it unsustainable, these workers are unaccountable. These people, regardless of how well or how badly they do their jobs — regardless of whether their jobs are even necessary — are too often unable to be fired due to their ironclad union contracts the tax payers are duped into paying for. Worse, these people’s retirement at such cushy levels that are far and away better than that of the private sector are endemic. To compound that, the courts often back these backstabbing union thugs over what is best for the American people.
As USA Today reported in 2007, “Retired government workers are twice as likely to get a pension as
their counterparts in the private sector, and the typical benefit is far more generous. The nation’s 6 million retired civil servants … received a median benefit of $17,640 in 2005… Eleven million private-sector retirees covered by traditional pensions got $7,692.”
Naturally, we can’t begrudge benefits to certain government workers worthy of receiving them. Teachers, Policemen, Firemen, and Military personnel deserve benefits as they provide a professional, sometimes dangerous and necessary service — As with everything there are exceptions that prove the rule.
But, why should a perfunctory paper pusher at the State Department get a better pension than anyone in the private sector? Worse, how can we stand by and allow government workers to retire at much younger ages than those in the private sector, forcing tax payers to pay their exorbitant health care benefits and cushy, undeserved pensions for many more years than private sector workers ever get theirs?
Even when we vote out a member of Congress, for instance, we are not cleaning house. Staffers often stay on from one Senator or House member to another because of their so-called “expertise” in the inner workings of government. This adds to government inertia. After all, what staffer is going to do much that would annoy the go-along-to-get-along backroom workings that might upset their apple cart. This also adds to the cost of government.
The fact that government workers have the best jobs, the safest jobs, the highest paying jobs, and the best retirement plans is all so thoroughly un-American. In fact, the founders worried about this very thing befalling their new nation.
During the Constitutional Convention, several of the founders talked* about what they then called “pensioners and placemen” — how government workers were described at the time. These “placemen” were hangers on, people that were leaching off the people’s taxes. These placemen were a feature of the British system, too, and they were inveighed against as evidence of the corruption of the British system. These placemen were something that the founders wanted to avoid in the United States of America.
This subject was a matter of much worry by James Madison as he criticized Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton, you see, was keen to replicate the British system here in America (it should be remembered that the founders initially insisted that they were being more British than the British by more closely following Britishness). Madison, on the other hand, was just as keen to avoid the sort of ministerial corruption that heavily invested government workers could wreck on America. Madison thought that public pensioners, placemen, dealers in public funds, and influence peddlers would doom this country to rule by regulators and bureaucrats.
Madison was exactly right. It may have taken more than 200 years to prove his prescient warning correct but it has been proven, nonetheless.
So, let’s do something about this. No government worker should ever qualify for a pension or post employment health care. Their unions are unconstitutional anyway, so let’s get rid of those, too. I include all elected members of government under that umbrella, by the way. We need to make government jobs less desirable than they now are, not the plum positions of the entire American work force. It is a crime that, in a supposedly capitalist society, working for the government is more lucrative than working for the private sector.
All this, though, is the result of creating the Frankenstein’s monster of a bloated, big government, nanny state. We have allowed it to grow beyond control and some efforts to curb it must be taken before it overwhelms us. With Trump we have a meaningful chance to do this. We should push to fulfill that promise.
Lastly, Mr. government worker, before you get into your high dudgeon, before you warm that computer up to write me to ask if I think it’s fair that you should have your benefits cut, let me assure you of something. I am not just asking you to suffer a cut in your benefits… I want you to lose both your job AND your benefits. I want you out of government never to return. And I want your jobs entirely eliminated.
I am saying you are a problem, not a solution. So, please, for the sake of our country, go find a real job and get out of government, you lazy slob.

It faced massive opposition from both the moderate and conservative wings of the GOP almost immediately. Moderates howled over the draw-down of Medicaid expansion in the leadership bill. Conservatives slammed how much of the original law would be left in place, the lack of movement on key free market promises, and new provisions seen as expanding government control over the health care system.
What now to do in 2017 depends on which Republican you ask. Members of President Donald Trump’s administration and House Republican leadership will say this bill has a way forward and that repeal and health care reform cannot be done at once.
Conservative congressional members and activist groups believe full and unconditional repeal is an immediate must.
On Tuesday afternoon, the House Republican bill was panned by conservatives long waiting for repeal of the hated Obamacare, passed in 2010. At a gathering of conservative Republican senators and representatives outside the Capitol Tuesday, elected officials took turns beating the proposed repeal-and-replace bill.
“There’s the leadership plan that was brought forward, which I believe, when you look through it, is Obamacare in a different form,” said Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), the former chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus.
“This is … a step in the wrong direction,” said Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah).
A common refrain at the Freedom Caucus press conference with Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Lee was a question about repeal in 2015. Why couldn’t the Republican Congress simply vote for repeal, as they did in December 2015, when every GOP member of Congress voted to yank Obamacare in whole? Paul called it “clean repeal.” Addressing all of the issues that Paul and other Republicans want in a “clean repeal” may not be possible. Republicans don’t have the 60 votes needed in the Senate to move forward.
Republicans have 52 seats in the Senate. They would need eight Democrats to move forward with a repeal-and-replace option outside of the process known as reconciliation.
“The bill that goes through reconciliation and only requires 50 votes in the Senate in order to pass,” said Tom Price, secretary of Health and Human Services, during an interview Tuesday on “The Laura Ingraham Show.”
“There’s some things that you can do in that and there’s some that you can’t do just because of the rules,” Price said. “I know that’s a process argument, but that’s the truth.”
And it is the truth. One health care policy expert who has concerns about the Republican first draft told LifeZette that the first phase has to contain all the things that can be done via budget reconciliation, which only needs 51 Senate votes.
The next step, the second phase, would be Price’s move. As HHS secretary, Price will exercise his power to affect up to 1,400 health care regulations, as empowered by the law.
The final step, according to House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), would be a second bill, with items that can be filibustered because of their nature. The “Phase 3” bill will be moved almost simultaneously with the American Health Care Act, Ryan explained in a Tuesday afternoon press conference with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).
One big item in this secondary bill will be a favorite of President Donald Trump and many conservative groups: It will allow the purchase of health insurance beyond a customer’s state lines. Unlike automobile insurance, health plan customers have been confined to the state in which they live. Opponents of the current draft think that provision can be added now.
“Such an injection of competition would lead to hundreds of billions of dollars in savings, nullifying any argument by congressional Republicans that this provision cannot be included in the current bill,” said Club for Growth President David McIntosh in a statement.
Conservatives also expressed concern that a number of taxes and mandates (although not the hated “individual mandate”) are left in place.
“Republicans should be offering a full and immediate repeal of Obamacare’s taxes, regulations, and mandates, an end to the Medicaid expansion, and inclusion of free-market reforms, like interstate competition,” said McIntosh.
The Heritage Foundation’s political arm, Heritage Action, has also blasted the current draft in a statement.
“If Republicans move forward with this bill, they will be accepting the flawed premises of Obamacare,” said Heritage Action CEO Michael A. Needham. “Instead, they should fully repeal the failed law and begin a genuine effort to follow through on their seven-year promises to create a free market health care system.”
Yet Paul, of all people, seems to realize the House bill is an “opening bid” from Ryan and Trump. Democrats have been dealt out. The only people needed to pass Phase 1 are the conservatives and libertarians like Paul, Lee, and Jordan.
“This is the beginning of the negotiation,” said Paul, admitting Vice President Mike Pence has been contacting House Freedom Caucus members, and that Cabinet members have been setting up appointments with conservatives. “If they were to remove the objectionable items from their repeal and replace, it would essentially be [clean] repeal.”
That would be possible, since congressional Republicans and the administration have made clear the bill will be considered under regular order — a process that would allow the bill to be amended to win conservative votes.
I am getting tired of having to explain the same thing repeatedly. Every time I hear someone talk about buying health insurance across state lines, I know for a fact that they do not understand how selling health insurance works.
I sold health insurance for many years. Had to do coarse work, and pass a State Department of Insurance test in order to be approved to sell health insurance. I has to do additional coarse work and pass additional test to maintain my insurance license. So, I am offering the following simple explanation of how a health insurance company determines what a policy covers, cost, and pay claims. It is not exhaustive, but representative.
Every health insurance company uses the same formula to determine a premium payment for a policy they want to market. It begins with the actuarial. The actuarial provides the insurer the statistical calculations of risk for:
· Age groups
· Men, women, boy, girls
· Claim activity in a given Zip Code
o Includes pre existing conditions per Zip Code
· Uninsured claims in hospital Emergency Rooms
· Pharmaceutical purchases
· Whatever else individual insurers want to know in order to determine premiums.
· What are the cost associated with what that policy is going to cover.
· And whatever else they need to know in order to determine what they are going to charge for a premium for that policy.
The insurer will then add for administrating the policy and earned commissions and you have a insurance premium.
Each state has their own Department of Insurance. Each DOI determines:
· Which health insurance companies sell in their state
· What each insurance company must offer in coverage
· Mandated coverage of certain ailments, conditions, or events
· What each company can sell, and cannot sell.
· Each DOI determines what percentage of RISK each insurer must assume with each policy coverage and consideration. Yes, the insurers go into each issued policy with a determined level of risk for loss. MANDATORY.
· Each DOI has their own risk pool offerings.
For illustration purposes, let’s assume the policy you desire (based on coverage) is $100.00 a month;
· In the Zip Code next to yours, that same policy, same age, same sex, same coverage, same insurer could by $125.00 a month. Another Zip Code could be $75.00 a month.
· In the next state that same policy, same age, sex, family, insurer could be $150.00 a month. Another state could be $50.00 a month.
The difference all started with the ZIP CODED ACTUARIAL. Now, you want to go to the cheaper state and buy that policy. Every state will tell you that you MUST LIVE IN THE ZIP CODE YOU ARE BUYING COVERAGE.
The only exception is GROUP POLICIES. Most allow you to get coverage with medical providers in other states (example long haul truck drivers).
So, the politicians who are telling you they want you to be able to buy “cheaper” policies in the next state, do not know what their talking about.
The next issue. You pay your $100.00 premium every month. After 12 months you have given them $1,200.00. If you never used your policy, great. But, if you did files a claim for $2,400.00, the insurer is bankrupt. In order to avoid that, insurance companies take a determined amount of your monthly premium and invest it into the market. As they get a Return on their Investment (ROI) they use THAT MONEY to pay your claims. So when you see the amount of assets an insurer has, know that they are well able to pay your claims, without increasing your premium.
When the state DOI creates more mandated coverage for pre-existing conditions, that means that they are taking more loss on a policy and risking their ROI to pay your claims. Every time an insurer is mandated to cover a pre existing condition, they are demanding they buy claims they have never received premiums, or ROI. That requires them to raise everyone’s premiums in order to cover those loses. If that market starts to go, and claims exceed risk, then the insurer can no long cover anyone’s claims. BANKRUPTCY. That is why so many insurers have had to pull out of OBAMACARE.
For my fellow health insurance agents who are screaming now that I have left something out, please forgive me and let me know. There are so many other issues associated with this like executive pay structures, type of policies, etc. This was not intended to be exhaustive.

According to North Carolinians for Immigration Reform and Enforcement, immigrants commit hundreds of sex crimes against children in North Carolina every month — 350 in the month of April 2014, 299 in May, and more than 400 in August and September. More than 90 percent of the perpetrators are Hispanic.
They aren’t even counting legal immigrants. Aren’t those worse? Only certain Republicans get excited about the difference between legal and illegal immigrants. The rest of America is trying to understand the point of the last 40 years of legal immigration. Why was this necessary?
Below is a very short excerpt from a few days in November 2013. As Stalin is supposed to have said, sometimes quantity has a quality all its own.

The list, for a single month in a single state, goes on in the same vein through 87 separate offenders. When not providing North Carolina meatpackers with cheap labor, immigrant workers seem to spend all their time raping little girls.
To be fair, there are also Asian names, such as Y’Hon Nie (Indecent Liberties With Child, First Degree Sex Offense-Child, Second Degree Sexual Offense); and David Vo Minh (First Degree Sex Offense-Child, Indecent Liberties With Child).
North Carolina’s cheap labor advocates better be paying Sen. Thom Tillis well. It sure isn’t the average North Carolinian demanding that he shill for amnesty. Illegal immigration alone costs North Carolina taxpayers billions of dollars per year.
Except North Carolina’s businesses aren’t just externalizing their costs to the taxpayers. They’re externalizing their costs to little girls.
The reason websites like North Carolinians for Immigration Reform and Enforcement are so important is that the government and the media hide immigrant crime from the public. They cite bogus studies that compare immigrants to America’s criminal class. (We didn’t want immigrants who are only slightly less criminal than our worst inner cities.) Or they announce their impressionistic conclusions. (I heard about a crime in Montana — that state must have a lot of crime, is not a scientific way to argue.)
Or they refuse to count any criminal without an ICE detainer against him as an immigrant, at all. (Is the court translator a hint that the defendant isn’t a 10th-generation American?)
The way to determine how many immigrants are committing crime is to count them. Why does the government refuse to do this? The number of immigrants in prison would be a good start, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg.
Immigrant criminals flee back to their own countries after arrest. Prosecutors deport illegals rather than imprison them — and then the illegals come right back. Some George Soros-inspired prosecutors allow illegals to plea guilty to some minor offense, to prevent them from being deported.
To get the full picture, government investigators will need to talk to crime victims, police and prosecutors, too. And we want honesty — not studies that count anchor babies and second-generation immigrants as “the native population.”
The media is the government’s co-conspirator in hiding immigrant crime. I have approximately 1,000 examples of media subterfuges on immigrant crime in Adios, America! The Left’s Plan to Turn Our Country Into a Third World Hellhole.
Here are a few recent examples from Sen. Tillis’ North Carolina.
Other informative North Carolina headlines:
It’s too relentless to be a coincidence.
There have been more stories in the American media about a rape by white lacrosse players that didn’t happen than about thousands of child rapes in North Carolina that did.
I’m pretty sure our media is opposed to rape. But evidently, not as opposed as they are to America.

Did you listen to my show on Thursday, before President Trump tweeted? Did you watch my appearance on Fox and Friends Sunday morning? I know you are ticked I did not appear on your show, despite your numerous requests. Your ad hominem attacks about “right wing” radio host and conspiracy theory stuff … incredible.
I simply put together the stories that YOUR profession reported, on the public record. Do you deny there were two FISA applications? Do you deny the first was turned down? Do you deny the second was approved? It’s called the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. It is about surveillance. The fact that we cannot discern all the details because of the secrecy, except for what the media have revealed and selective leaks by the government, should cause you to want to know more, not to trash those who point it out.
And yes, we can make several logical implications based on events and experience. A FISA application is a big deal. One, or two in this case, that involve campaign surrogates, or a server or computer related to a candidate or campaign, etc., is a big deal. President Obama’s statement is not a definitive statement of anything, other than he, personally, did not order a wiretap, which I never claimed. But that does not mean he was unaware of surveillance activity by several of his departments, even through routine reports to the president, such as the Daily Intel Briefing or information conveyed to him or his staff via the Justice Department re the FBI counter-intelligence activities. As for Clapper, despite his past dissembling before Congress, he may not have been aware of what was taking place since the FBI counter-intel operation reportedly sought the warrant. The Daily Intel Briefing might provide useful information in that regard as well.
Of course, the release of the FISA applications would also shed a lot of light on events, assuming YOU believe reports that they were filed.
Furthermore, Clapper has said, as recently as yesterday, that no connections between the Russians and the Trump campaign have been found. I am extremely critical of Russia, Putin, and the efforts to influence our election, although I do not believe they succeeded. That said, how would Clapper know of no connections if he, as former Director of National Intelligence, didn’t look? On what is that based?
Your lack of curiosity and dishonesty about such matters and in dealing with me demean you and your profession. You are free to circulate this communication to whomever you wish, as I am making it public.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange gestures during a news conference at the Ecuadorian embassy in central London August 18, 2014. Assange, who has spent over two years inside Ecuador’s London embassy to avoid extradition to Sweden, said on Monday he planned to leave the building “soon”, without giving further details. REUTERS/John Stillwell.
According to an explainer released by WikiLeaks, the 8,761 documents had been maintained in a high-security network at CIA’s Center for Cyber Intelligence in Langley, Va. But the group says that the CIA “lost control” of the documents after they began circulating among a 5,000-person network of former U.S. government hackers and contractors. One of those individuals is WikiLeaks’ source, the group claims.
The documents, which include more than 70,000 redactions, show how CIA hackers use malware, trojan viruses and other tools to convert electronics, including phones and smart TVs, into covert microphones used for spying. The group also says there are documents showing that the CIA uses the U.S. consulate in Frankfurt as a covert hacker base for its European operations.
Among the most salacious revelations in the WikiLeaks release come from documents showing how CIA developed techniques to hack Samsung smart TVs with British intelligence services. The malware, called Weeping Angel, records audio while the target of the hack believes the TV is turned off.
One of the documents released on Tuesday purportedly shows that the CIA was working on a program as of Oct. 2014 that would infect the vehicle control systems of certain cars and trucks.
“The purpose of such control is not specified, but it would permit the CIA to engage in nearly undetectable assassinations,” WikiLeaks asserts.
The group also claims that the documents show that the CIA has developed techniques that allow it to bypass encryption used by secret text messaging programs like WhatsApp, Signal, and Confide.
In its explainer, WikiLeaks attempts to capitalize on the recent debate about whether President Obama spied on President Trump prior to the election. Trump made the unfounded claim on Twitter on Saturday. The group claims that CIA malware can be used to “penetrate, infest and control” Android and iPhone software “that runs or has run presidential Twitter accounts.” Trump is well known for using Twitter to comment on the day’s news or make announcements about his administration.
Assange issued a rambling statement along with the release of the files.
“There is an extreme proliferation risk in the development of cyber ‘weapons.’ Comparisons can be drawn between the uncontrolled proliferation of such ‘weapons,’ which results from the inability to contain them combined with their high market value, and the global arms trade,” he said.
“But the significance of ‘Year Zero’ goes well beyond the choice between cyberwar and cyberpeace. The disclosure is also exceptional from a political, legal and forensic perspective.”
It remains to be seen how the Trump administration will respond to the WikiLeaks dump. Trump praised the group during the campaign because it was leaking emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton campaign.
