The John Elway Way: Stand For The Anthem And Get Politics Out Of Football

In response to the epidemic of national anthem protests sweeping the National Football League, NFL legend John Elway has made two things clear.

First, he will always stand for the national anthem even if others exercise their right to protest. Second, it is long past time to get politics out of football games.

Elway, who starred with the Denver Broncos as a player and is now the team’s general manager, made it clear this week that while not condemning players who kneel, he would never join them.

I’m one that believes in standing for the national anthem, and I’ve always believed that. I believe that this is the greatest country in the world. We are very fortunate to live here, but it’s obviously not perfect,” he said.

“There are a lot of things that need to be corrected, and we will continue to work on those things. I’m one that really believes in standing for the flag,” Elway said.

Elway indicated that he believed comments from President Donald Trump, who strongly criticized protesting NFL players, were a major factor in the protests that took place last weekend.

“I understand the players and the way they felt from the comments that were made earlier in the week. They felt they had to go down and kneel and that’s up to them,” he said.

But enough is enough, Elway also said.

“Hopefully, as we go forward we can start concentrating on football a little bit more. Take the politics out of football. But I think that last week was a good show of unity by the NFL and hopefully this week we can move forward,” he said.

Elway’s remarks mirrored those of Broncos head coach Vance Joseph, who said his players have the right to protest, even if he believes in standing for the anthem. Jones also seemed to finger Trump for the latest round of protests.

“That’s their right as U.S. citizens. The comments didn’t sit well with our football team or the entire NFL,” Joseph said. “Hopefully, we can move past this and play football because politics and football don’t mix, in my opinion. I’m a football coach and they’re football players, and our job is to win football games. Hopefully, we can get back to that this week.”

Elway had been asked about protests in August, and responded with a clear focus on job one — winning football games.

“My stance is that everybody has their right to do what they wish to do and their beliefs are their beliefs. That’s why we live in this country. They have the right to display whatever they wish to display,” he said then.

“I think one thing — where we stand and where I stand with the Broncos — is, ‘That’s OK and we will respect that and whatever you want to do is fine with us. But the bottom line is that can’t get in the way with our main goal. And that is to compete for world championships,’” he said.

“I just don’t want that pulling away from our team. It can pull (you) away, because it does get a lot of attention. The only thing that I would say to our players is to make sure it’s not hurting your teammate. If the questions and everything — if the tenor changes of what goes on in these interviews and you’re not talking about our next opponent, you’re talking about what’s going on in the world — that’s not the best thing for our football team,” Elway said then.

No Wonder The NFL Hates Cops – Look At Their ARREST Records

Published by ClashDaily.com | on September 26, 2017

URL of the original posting site: http://clashdaily.com/2017/09/no-wonder-nfl-hates-cops-look-arrest-records/?

Behold your Moral Superiors. Good grief.

A bunch of NFL whiners refuse to stand for the national anthem because they want to protest ‘police brutality’ against blacks. Really? Is it any wonder, that this is the attitude of the NFL?

These are the same people that called Tim Tebow kneeling in prayer ‘polarizing’ but now a heap of players disrespecting the flag is ‘unifying’?

Puh-leeze. This ‘Take A Knee’ protest was rooted in the anti-cop beliefs of Colin Kaepernick and that’s apparently perfectly fine. Mr. Pig Socks himself has been really upfront about it. Are you really surprised that these players are jumping on Kaepernick’s anti-cop bandwagon?

The President has said that the NFL is taking a strange position.

After all, just look at their off-season arrest record:

There are a bunch of criminals in the NFL and the league seems ok with that. Frankly, they’re doing well right now — it’s been two and a half weeks since one of the NFL players has been arrested.

As Joseph Curl from the Daily Wire points out, it’s a veritable ‘Golden Age’ for the NFL. There’s even a website NFLarrest.com is a database of arrest statistics of professional football players.

The average time between arrests is just seven days, while the record without an arrest is slightly more than two months, at 65 days, according to NFLarrest.com, which “provides an interactive visualized database of National Football League player Arrests & Charges,” the site says.

Players get arrested for a variety of crimes: drunk driving, drug offenses, domestic violence, assault and battery, gun violations, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, theft, burglary, rape and even murder.

These crimes are virtually ignored by teams that willingly draft thugs. The league seems to have a special appreciation for those who commit violence against women.

The NFL virtually embraces players who abuse women. Take this report in the Chicago Tribune: “In the first round [of the 2017 draft], the Oakland Raiders drafted Gareon Conley, who has been accused of rape. In the second round, the Cincinnati Bengals selected Joe Mixon, who in a much-viewed video punches a woman so hard that she falls down unconscious. In the sixth round, the Cleveland Browns selected Caleb Brantley, who was accused of doing pretty much what Mixon did.”
Source: Daily Wire

These are the ‘moral superiors’ that are preaching about police brutality.

Maybe there’s a reason that they don’t like police officers — they get arrested by them.

Remember, this whole ‘Take A Knee’ thing started because Colin Kaepernick wanted to make a statement about ‘systemic racism’ in American police forces.

Kaepernick says that there are ‘bodies in the streets’ and police officers are getting ‘paid leave’ as well as ‘getting away with murder’.

Here’s what he said back in August of 2016 when he was asked about why he sat on the bench during the anthem that first time.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
Source: NFL

Funny, he’s not so concerned about the (overwhelmingly black) ‘bodies in the streets’ in Chicago that had a bloody year in 2016 with over 750 murders — many of them still unsolved. The website Hey, Jackass chronicles the crime in Chicago and crunches the numbers. They illustrate the stats with helpful visuals.

Here’s what they found regarding race of victims and assailants:

All of those unsolved crimes apparently mean less to Kaepernick and his ilk than the ‘systemic racism’ that is exhibited by a handful of incidents of police officers (some not even white) every single time a black person is shot — despite the circumstances. Perhaps they should be protesting elsewhere — like inner city Chicago.

Maybe we could find out what their parole officers think of the situation.

“Snowflakeism” Strikes Cornell University

Reported by Photo of Dan Backer Dan Backer | Attorney | 6:56 PM 09/22/2017

Censorship is occurring across the world as countries step up their battles against “hate speech.” [Shutterstock – Marcos Mesa Sam Wordley]

Trigger warning: “Build a wall.”

Those three words have ignited a firestorm at Cornell University. An apology has been demanded, several issued, and demanded yet again. Sanctions have been sought. The administration even issued a condemnation, claiming the words were part of “a continued pattern of the marginalization of many members of the Cornell community.” Vice President for Student and Campus Life Ryan Lombardi put it this way: “I strongly condemn behavior that is antithetical to our proud history of inclusion.”

Ironically, Lombardi either didn’t know or bother to find out—or is deliberately misleading the public—that the student in question is a liberal Latino whose only goal in muttering those forbidden words was to mock President Trump. That’s right: A liberal, Latino undergraduate member of Cornell’s Zeta Psi chapter used the words “build a wall” within earshot of his neighbors, the campus’ Latino Living Center (LLC), residents of which filed complaints about the remarks.

Now, there’s nothing extraordinary about a liberal college student at an overpriced Northeastern university mocking a Republican president. What is extraordinary is the campus’ response.

Cornell’s La Asociacon Latina (LAL) published a statement condemning the words, claiming many Hispanic students are already under “a lot of duress” because of President Trump’s plan to cancel the illegal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and enforce our immigration laws. LAL also demanded all current and new fraternity members to undergo mandatory diversity training—that is, a liberal brainwashing re-education camp. Even the Greek Tri-Council vowed to “reject hateful actions,” while the fraternity’s headquarters appears to have tucked tail and apologized instead of correcting blatant lies and misinformation.

Meanwhile, the administration is considering disciplinary action for the allegedly egregious “hate speech.”

Has Cornell ever taken a forceful stand against liberal groupthink on campus? Or the divisive rhetoric in the university’s new anti-Trump course? Of course not. If anything, the administration has encouraged the proliferation of blind obedience to the same liberal dogma it espouses.

Lost in the shuffle are the student’s own liberal inclinations, and that he was a Latino mocking President Trump’s immigration policies. This is a fact LLC and others on campus appear to be concealing to target not just this fraternity, but any Orwellian “crimethink” contrary to the administration’s “goodthink.” Fraternities are an easy target, of course, and have come under leftist attack across the country for “micro-aggressions” as ridiculous as hosting construction-themed house parties and “Cinco de Drinko” events.

If LLC and the administration are indeed complicit in a hoax to target conservative speech—by intentionally obscuring the identity and purpose of the speech they’re squashing—it may be the most egregious example of anti-speech activism to date. Advancing this identity politics grievance agenda would not only be a blatant fraud, but it would threaten any Cornell student who didn’t toe the line on permissible speech. Here, the fraud is all the more blatant because LLC—and, presumably, the administration—knows the student in question is Latino, liberal, and anti-Trump.

The labeling of pure speech as “hateful actions” is yet another example of the Left moving the goalposts and targeting even speech they in fact support—the mocking of the president’s policies—to stifle any intellectual discourse. Agree or disagree with any particular message, academic institutions have a responsibility to foster meaningful debate. That’s the whole point of higher learning. Failing to protect speech is morally outrageous.

Unfortunately, we will continue to see university officials tolerate and even reward petty political agendas to appease snowflakes. And it’s disappointing to see the fraternity, which exists as an expression of our right to free association, cave when it comes to free speech—bowing down to a liberal agenda and obscuring the truth from the public for the sake of appeasement.

This isn’t liberal vs. conservative anymore. If we as Americans don’t stand up against this angry mob attacking our freedom of speech, the First Amendment will wither away on campus, and eventually nationwide. Is there a greater disservice to America’s future than that?

Viral Cartoon Perfectly Explains How Utterly Pointless Kaepernick’s “Protest” Is

Reported

URL of the original posting site: https://conservativetribune.com/cartoon-perfectly-kaepernick/?

Advertisement – story continues below

The debate over NFL players kneeling in protest of the national anthem, a protest started by former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick last year, grew thick over the weekend when President Donald Trump waded into the middle of it.

Proponents of the protest insist that kneeling during the anthem is a way to draw attention to the racism and police brutality that occurs within the United States. While these protests certainly have brought up the topics of race and police, in reality they have accomplished nothing. A cartoon that is circulating the internet perfectly sums up just how ineffective these protests are.

The cartoon depicts Kaepernick sitting on top of a pile of bodies, labeled “black on black murder”. In a word bubble, cartoon Kaepernick states that he’ll continue to sit until police brutally is eliminated.

Despite Kaepernick’s supposed care for violence against blacks, has said little of the bloodshed that has ravaged the black community in the form of black on black crime. In fact, 2015 data from the FBI showed that 2,380 African-Americans were killed by other African-Americans, while 229 African-Americans were killed by people identified as white.

Those are some pretty lopsided statistics, but you don’t see anyone kneeling during the national anthem protesting “black-on-black” murders — or making a stand against black crime whatsoever. That’s because these protesters don’t actually care about stopping violence against African-Americans — all they care about is themselves.

These football players see these protests as a chance to gain a following (because being professional football players apparently isn’t enough). If they cared about stopping the violence, they would do something other than kneel.

Take a look around. Have the kneeling NFL players actually accomplished anything other than dividing this nation further? Kneeling, linking arms, and even staying in the a locker room during the national anthem accomplishes nothing — all it does is show a complete lack of respect for those who sacrificed their lives for this nation.

There are racial problems in America — there’s no denying that — but trying to paint a one-sided picture of violence in the United States is only makes things worse.

Former Army Ranger Is Only Pittsburgh Steeler To Appear For Anthem

Reported

URL of the original posting site: https://www.westernjournalism.com/former-army-ranger-pittsburgh-steeler-appear-anthem-1/?

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin wanted to play football, not politics. Steelers offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva felt he had a higher duty. Thus, the former Army Ranger was the only Steeler visible on Sunday during the playing of the national anthem before the Steelers took on the Chicago Bears.

Tomlin admitted that two days after President Donald Trump tweeted out his condemnation of anthem protests, sparking a fierce negative reaction among NFL players, he wanted unity. Tomlin had said before the game that the team would not be on the field for the anthem, citing the players’ decision. Afterward, he said he wanted to respected what his players felt was best.

“Like I said, I was looking for 100 percent participation, we were gonna be respectful of our football team,” Tomlin said.

He said he let the players decide, with one condition.

“Many of them felt like something needed to be done. I asked those guys to discuss it and whatever they discussed that we have 100 percent participation or we do nothing,” Tomlin said.

“They discussed it for an appropriate length of time and they couldn’t come to an understanding, so they chose to remove themselves from it. They were not going to be disrespectful in the anthem so they chose not to participate, but at the same time many of them were not going to accept the words of the president,” he added, saying the team decided to remain out of view.

Tomlin said his focus was the game, not the anthem.

“We’re not politicians. We’re coaches and professional athletes,” Tomlin said Sunday. “If those of us or individuals choose to participate in politics in some way I’m going to be supportive of that. But when we come out of locker rooms, we come out of locker rooms to play football games.”

Offensive tackle Chris Hubbard said the players, by a slim majority, voted in favor of staying off the field instead of standing on the sideline holding hands, but that players knew Villanueva was going to do what he wanted.

“Al was cool with it, with whatever we went through. He was on board. That’s Al, man,” Hubbard told Penn Live. “He’s a good guy.”

“We thought we were all in attention with the same agreement, obviously,” said linebacker James Harrison. “But, I guess we weren’t.”

Villanueva, A Bronze Star recipient who three tours of duty in Afghanistan, has said there is a difference between changing society and protesting during the anthem.

“I agree that America is not perfect, I agree there are lot of issues with minorities in this country, I agree we should do something about it,” Villanueva in August 2016, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “But I don’t know if the most effective way is to sit down when the national anthem of the country that is providing you freedom and providing you $16 million a year is the best way to do it when there are black minorities that are dying in Iraq and Afghanistan and protecting our freedom for less than $20,000 a year.”

“I just know I’m very thankful to be an American,” Villanueva said.

When BLM Showed Up at Trump Rally…Things Took a Turn No One Saw Coming

Reported

Advertisement – story continues below

“The Mother of all Rallies” in Washington, D.C. on Monday brought out a huge group of President Donald Trump supporters. The rally also had some protesters from the Black Lives Matter group show up. All this seemed completely predictable. However, something truly unexpected occurred — and it was remarkable.

According to WXYZ, tensions at the rally were high when members of the Black Lives Matter activist group arrived. With their fists in the air, and some wearing shackles, the group infiltrated the rally in an apparent protest of what the rally stood for. Chants could be heard from both sides, with Trump supporters adorned in their MAGA hats chanting “USA, USA, you don’t like it… get out,” at the activists. On the other side, BLM protesters shouted, “Black Lives Matter.”

This was poised to be the fight of the century. Then something amazing happened.

According to Real Clear Politics, Tommy Gunn, the rally’s head organizer, invited Hank Newsome, a Black Lives Matter leader, onto the stage.

“So you guys know that the ‘Mother of All Rallies’ was to end the political violence,” Gunn began.

“It’s about freedom of speech. It’s about celebration. So what we’re going to do is something you’re not used to, and we’re going to give you two minutes of our platform to put your message out,” Gunn told the BLM activists.

Many Trump supporters booed in response to Gunn’s decision to let the activists on stage, but he stuck to his guns and let BLM have their say. “Whether they disagree or agree with your message is irrelevant. It’s the fact that you have the right to have the message,” he told the crowd.

It was this first olive branch that led to an exchange of ideas that turned out to be extremely eye-opening.

“I am an American. And the beauty of America is that when you see something broke in your country, you can mobilize to fix it,” Newsome started off. Many Trump supporters cheered in response, likely because fixing a broken system is exactly why many in the crowd decided to vote for President Donald Trump — because he was going to fight for that change.

So you ask why there’s a Black Lives Matter? Because you can watch a black man die and be choked to death on television and nothing happens. We need to address that,” Newsome continued. This comment did set off some jeers from the crowd, especially from an outspoken Trump supporter who pointed out “black on black” crime.

However, Newsome was not going to waste the time that Gunn gave him. He was there to share a special, though unexpected message: We are one. Even with dissenting voices, he carried on.

“We are not anti-cop! We are anti-bad cop. We say if a cop is bad, he needs to get fired like a bad plumber, a bad lawyer, like a bad f***ing politician!” This again, was something everyone could get behind. When it comes to draining the swamp, that goes across party and social justice lines. When people in public service are doing bad things, they need to be forced out of their position of power.

“We don’t want handouts, we don’t want anything that is yours. We want our God-given right to freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” Newsome added, highlighting the rights of all Americans.

When the crowd erupted into a chant of “All Lives Matter,” Newsome responded, “You are so right, my brother, you are so right. All lives matter, right? But when a black life is lost, we get no justice. That is why we say black lives matter.”

Now This Politics put together a video of the incident, and it is hard to watch without getting moved by the diplomacy and respectful exchange of both parties. Be sure to watch to the end to see how Newsome’s initial intent was changed after Gunn respectfully invited him on stage. It’s pretty powerful stuff.

This is how you exchange ideas respectfully. Gunn graciously gave Newsome time on their platform and the result is changed hearts.

“It kind of restored my faith in some of those people. Because, when I spoke truths, they agreed. I feel like we made progress. I feel like two sides that never listen to each other actually made progress today,” Newsome said after the rally.

Despite our differences, most of us can agree that all lives matter, and that includes every single American life. This video and exchange of ideas is exactly how we move forward past our disagreements and find a common bond and a common goal.

As Newsome said, “If we really want America great, we do it together.”

Insurance Industry Opposes Republican Health Bill

By Chip Bok of http://bokbluster.com/2017/09/23/insurance-industry/ | September 23, 2017

Fortune seemed surprised that insurers oppose last ditch Republican efforts to replace and repeal ObamaCare. As usual, the industry’s concern is for consumers.

Insurance Industry Explains Why

Industry spokesmen displayed their concern in an article titled “Even the Insurance Industry is Against the Latest GOP Health Care Plan”:

Despite the general view that health insurance companies would benefit from a free and open market, two of the biggest trade groups for insurers — Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and America’s Health Insurance Plans — announced their first opposition to the Republicans’ latest plan to repeal and replace Obamacare.

Both the Blue Cross and the AHIP came out against the so-called Graham-Cassidy bill Wednesday, arguing that the legislation would lead to an unstable market that would harm both insurers and patients.

“The bill contains provisions that would allow states to waive key consumer protections, as well as undermine safeguards for those with pre-existing medical conditions,’’ the Blue Cross association said in a statement. “The legislation reduces funding for many states significantly and would increase uncertainty in the marketplace, making coverage more expensive and jeopardizing Americans’ choice of health plans.”

The AHIP doubled down on those sentiments, writing that the bill “would have real consequences on consumers and patients by further destabilizing the individual market” and could “potentially allowing government-controlled, single payer health care to grow,” in a letter to Senate majority and minority leaders Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.).

The insurance trade associations’ resistance joins a number of health care groups already speaking out against the proposed bill, including the American Medical Association, the American Hospital Association and the American Association of Retired Persons.

The Graham-Cassidy bill, named after two of its drafters, Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Bill Cassidy (R-La.), has a voting deadline of Sept. 30. The Senate is expected to vote on the legislation next week after several previously unsuccessful attempts earlier this year.

President Donald Trump talked up the bill Wednesday, saying that it has “a very good chance” of passing in the Senate.

Woman Ordered to Take Down Pro-Trump Signs Would Rather Go to Jail Than Remove Them

Posted by Katherine Rodriguez | 21 Sep 2017

A Maine woman says she would rather risk jail time than take down her yard signs in support of President Trump after city officials said she had to remove them.

Officials from the city of Rockland told Susan Reitman, 75, that she had to take down her signs or face fines because the signs violate a local ordinance, the Daily Mail reported.

“I was shocked,” she said. “This is my freedom of speech. People have a right to voice their opinion.”

The signs, which hang over her front gate, read “I Love Trump” and “He Won, Get Over It.”

A code enforcement officer from the city told Reitman that, under the city ordinance, residents could only display one sign attached to a structure no larger than two square feet or one free-standing sign no larger than four square feet. Reitman’s signs violate the ordinance because she has two signs that are just over three feet by two feet, according to the officer.

Officials say that if she does not remove her signs by Friday, she faces fines of $100 to $1,000 per day. The code enforcement officer added that another resident complained about the size of the signs.

Reitman, however, is not backing down. She told New England Cable News that she would neither pay the fines nor take her signs down.

“If I have to sit in jail for the rest of eternity, that’s my choice,” she said. “I guess I’m being stubborn … but I’m not going to back down from what I believe.”

Town officials say that residents can apply for permits to display signs larger than what the ordinance allows.  Reitman added that she was not aware of the ordinance and thinks city officials should change it to allow for political speech.

Rockland Assistant Code Enforcement Officer William Butler argues that his directive had nothing to do with the content of the signs.

“I admire your passion for our president. Truly, I do,” Butler wrote in a Monday email to Reitman, according to the Press Herald. “However, we have received a complaint, and I have to do my due diligence, and I have determined your signs are not in compliance with the Rockland Code.”

“It is your business what you put on the signs. It is the city’s business regarding the size and number of signs,” he added.

Butler reportedly did not mention any threat of jail time in his email to Reitman.

The Herald reports that Reitman would only face jail time if she refused to follow a court order from a judge asking her to remove the signs. For that to happen, the city would have to file a land-use complaint in court.

Thought Crime: Police Officer Under Investigation for Criticism of Black Lives Matter. Alt-Left activist triggered by police officer’s meme on Facebook, demands officer be condemned and fired

Reported by Edmund Kozak | Updated 22 Sep 2017 at 1:41 PM

(photo credit, homepage and article image: Amir Clark, Flickr)

Since the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement — and largely because of it — America’s law enforcement officers have dealt with increased danger and resentment. They are accused of being racist and violent and face ever-rising hostility from the civilians they are supposed to protect.

And now it seems they can’t even protest this sad state of affairs without putting their jobs at risk.

More Than 80 Arrested In 3rd Night Of Protests In St. Louis;

A St. Louis police officer is under investigation for an anti-Black Lives Matter post on Facebook — made in the midst of violent, destructive rioting that took place under the Black Lives Matter banner. The investigation follows a complaint by Alt-leftist Lisa Clancy, who posted a photograph of herself participating in a Black Lives Matter rally on Facebook. In response, the unnamed police officer posted a meme describing Black Lives Matter as “the Klan with a tan” and “domestic terrorists.”

“Letting that behavior happen undermines the very trust and relationships that are very important right now, especially when our community is in such a crisis moment,” Clancy told local news station KMOV.

When the exchange occurred, St. Louis resembled a war zone. Violent, destructive riots in response to the acquittal of former police officer Jason Stockley were a nightly occurrence. While Clancy was writing anti-law enforcement propaganda on Facebook, St. Louis police officers were dealing with a veritable insurgency.

But this is irrelevant to Clancy, who believes the officer deserves to lose his job for exercising the very same right to free speech that Clancy exercised both in protesting the police and then bragging about it on Facebook.

“He needs to be let go. I think they need to send a strong message that this kind of behavior is unacceptable,” Clancy told KMOV. Tellingly, the existence of an internal investigation is not enough for Clancy, who is demanding that the St. Louis police department prostrate itself at the altar of the Alt-Left and publicly condemn the officer for his thought crime.

I think that their failure to condemn it publicly suggests that there’s systemic racism in the institution,” she said.

Rush Limbaugh Read Trump Wiretap Story, Made Grave Discovery

Reported

URL of the original posting site: https://conservativetribune.com/rush-limbaugh-trump-wiretap/?

Advertisement – story continues below

On Monday evening, the political world was blown wide open when a bombshell report emerged revealing former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort had been wiretapped — and, even worse, that his conversations with President Donald Trump may have been recorded as a result.

Of course the liberal media has been quite slow to admit that the revelation proves Trump’s infamous allegations in March that he had been wire tapped at New York City’s Trump Tower weren’t quite as insane and unfounded as they claimed.

Speaking on his show Tuesday, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh explained that he believed this revelation is actually “worse than Watergate,” according to a transcript from RushLimbaugh.com

“This is much worse than Watergate, folks. That was a third-rate burglary that went awry,” Limbaugh said. “Trump was called a liar. He was mocked for tweeting about Trump Tower being wiretapped.”

Limbaugh went on to explain that it appears that former President Barack Obama and former FBI Director James Comey spied on a rival political campaign — possibly in an attempt to sway the election.

“Now we know, ladies and gentlemen, that Obama and James Comey’s FBI wiretapped the head of a political campaign,” Limbaugh said. “This is bigger than Watergate. The phone lines and other aspects of life that were wiretapped and surveilled were that of Paul Manafort, the first campaign manager for Donald Trump.”

We should point out that right now there is no proof that Obama ordered the wiretaps, or that this was done to sway an election. The wiretaps on Manafort preceded his work with the Trump campaign, and actually weren’t in place for much of his time as manager. But that doesn’t change the accuracy of Limbaugh’s essential point.

“What the government’s doing is bigger than Watergate. Nixon never did any of this. He may have dreamed about it, and he may have gotten drunk and talked to people, but he never did this. Nixon never actually used the IRS to penalize enemies, but Obama did. Ever heard of Lois Lerner?” Limbaugh asked.

This wiretapping revelation raises serious questions that need to be answered. Multiple high-level Obama officials, like former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, insisted before Congress that there was no wiretapping (or claimed they weren’t aware of any).

Clearly, that wasn’t the truth.

This is one of the biggest political bombshells to drop in a long time. If Obama was spying on Manafort for political reasons, the ramifications could be extreme. The American people need answers, and they need them now.

Rocket Man vs. Mentally Deranged U.S. Dotard – September 22, 2017

URL of the original posting site: http://bokbluster.com/2017/09/22/rocket-man/

rocket man

President Trump (in his speech to the U.N.): “The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea. Rocket Man is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime.”

Rocket Man (in his speech responding to Trump): “I will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged U.S. dotard with fire.”

CNN adds that North Korea’s foreign minister suggested a possible hydrogen bomb test over the Pacific might be in order.

Rocket Man Responds

The NYT has the full text of Kim Jong Un’s response to Trump’s U.N. threat here:

The speech made by the U.S. president in his maiden address on the U.N. arena in the prevailing serious circumstances, in which the situation on the Korean Peninsula has been rendered tense as never before and is inching closer to a touch-and-go state, is arousing worldwide concern.

Shaping the general idea of what he would say, I expected he would make stereotyped, prepared remarks a little different from what he used to utter in his office on the spur of the moment as he had to speak on the world’s biggest official diplomatic stage.

But, far from making remarks of any persuasive power that can be viewed to be helpful to defusing tension, he made unprecedented rude nonsense one has never heard from any of his predecessors.

A frightened dog barks louder.

I’d like to advise Trump to exercise prudence in selecting words and to be considerate of whom he speaks to when making a speech in front of the world.

The mentally deranged behavior of the U.S. president openly expressing on the U.N. arena the unethical will to “totally destroy” a sovereign state, beyond the boundary of threats of regime change or overturn of social system, makes even those with normal thinking faculty think about discretion and composure.

His remarks remind me of such words as “political layman” and “political heretic” which were in vogue in reference to Trump during his presidential election campaign.

After taking office Trump has rendered the world restless through threats and blackmail against all countries in the world. He is unfit to hold the prerogative of supreme command of a country, and he is surely a rogue and a gangster fond of playing with fire, rather than a politician.

His remarks which described the U.S. option through straightforward expression of his will have convinced me, rather than frightening or stopping me, that the path I chose is correct and that it is the one I have to follow to the last.

Now that Trump has denied the existence of and insulted me and my country in front of the eyes of the world and made the most ferocious declaration of a war in history that he would destroy the D.P.R.K. [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea], we will consider with seriousness exercising of a corresponding, highest level of hard-line countermeasure in history.

Action is the best option in treating the dotard who, hard of hearing, is uttering only what he wants to say.

As a man representing the D.P.R.K. and on behalf of the dignity and honor of my state and people and on my own, I will make the man holding the prerogative of the supreme command in the U.S. pay dearly for his speech calling for totally destroying the D.P.R.K.

This is not a rhetorical expression loved by Trump.

I am now thinking hard about what response he could have expected when he allowed such eccentric words to trip off his tongue.

Whatever Trump might have expected, he will face results beyond his expectation.

I will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged U.S. dotard with fire.

Judging by the reporting from the liberal media it would sound as if Americans regret voting for President Donald Trump because he supposedly is out of touch with Americans and is inept on economic and foreign policy.

California Lady Moves to Red State, Suddenly Sends Unexpected Message to Lib Friends Back Home

Flyover country. Bible belt. Middle America. Coastal elites in liberal cities have all sorts of terms for “red states,” but they all seem to convey one message: Conservative areas of the country are somehow backward and should be avoided.

That’s the impression one California writer had about America’s heartland. Leah Singer never imagined that she would end up in Trump Country… but when she moved to Indiana not long ago, her entire perception changed.

In an editorial piece published last weekend in the Indianapolis Star, the author sent a clear message to liberal friends back in California and throughout the country: You might be wrong about “red states.”

“I used to say I’d never move to a red state. And then I did. And it’s changed my life for the better,” Singer admitted.

As a “California girl,” the writer explained that the left-leaning west coast sees itself as a bastion of “diversity,” but Singer hinted that it was less of a paradise for anybody who didn’t parrot the liberal talking points.

“I was raised in California, where we like to believe diversity is applauded and opportunities abound,” she explained. “In many ways, California’s blue state bubble can be a very safe place to live if you subscribe to the popular liberal politics.”

In other words, it was diverse only if you thought and talked the same as everyone else, which kind of defeats the point. Regardless, Singer was a bit apprehensive about starting her new life in a conservative region.

“Over and over, I was questioned about why I would ever leave the Golden State for a ‘flyover’ red state. This phrase alone troubled me, and the implied perception that one flies over the Midwest just to get to their East or West coast home,” she stated.

Like sheltered people naively asking about a faraway land they’ve only vaguely heard about, the writer’s west coast friends had a lot of curiosity about how things were in America’s heartland.

“As I settled into life in the Midwest, I heard the same assumptive questions: ‘Did everyone you know vote for Donald Trump?’ ‘Are there African-American, Jewish, Asian, LGBTQ people in Indiana?’ ‘Do people make fun of you for listening to National Public Radio?‘” Singer recalled.

The coastal transplant quickly realized that her past impressions of conservative America were nowhere near the reality.

“As I got to know my new Midwest home, I realize how living in a bubble and subscribing to the Middle America stereotypes is truly damaging to this country,” she explained.

“Never does one ask how the Indiana public schools provide many opportunities that have been cut from California’s public schools because of one budget crisis after another, Singer continued.

Never does one ask about the low cost of living that is allowing us to pay off the mountain of debt we accrued in California. And never does one ask about my fellow community members, who are running successful businesses, enriching the city’s arts and making a difference for the local environment.”

She noticed something that “enlightened” coastal liberals often ignore: Places such as California may not be as truly diverse as they pretend to be.

“Southern California is diverse racially and religiously; it really is not with respect to class or working poor,” the writer revealed.

“This is especially the case in San Diego County, where it’s becoming more difficult for middle-class families to own a home or afford rent, with 41% of homeowners and 57% of renters spending 30% or more of income on housing, all while incomes stay stagnant, according to the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.”

In simple terms, many places in liberal enclaves have become so expensive to live that economic diversity is a thing of the past. It’s a bit like pretending that a gated community where everyone is a doctor or lawyer and drives a BMW is “diverse” — different racial boxes may be checked but it’s all a bit boring.

In the end, Singer’s positive experience with the midwest helped her realize that many coastal elites purposely bury their heads in the sand when it comes to real diversity within the United States.

“(H)ow many of these people travel within their own country to get to know the ‘other?’ Why travel the globe, but not make an effort to get to know your Midwest neighbor?” the author asked.

“Living in Indiana, I now have an understanding of America that I did not before. I wish more people living outside the middle took the time to get to know the others living a few states away. I did, and I am a better person because of it,” she concluded.

She may not completely realize it, but Singer has stumbled upon an important fact. Liberal obsession with diversity often shuns true multiculturalism — a variety of opinions, thoughts and political stances — and instead focuses on the “feel good” categorization of irrelevant traits like skin color.

In many of the most important ways, conservative areas of the country are advancing while liberal neighborhoods face major problems.

Thankfully, people like Singer are having their eyes opened once they actually escape their bubble… and they’re realizing what conservatives have known for decades: Small town America might be on to something after all.

NFL PLAYER PROTEST

“It’s their First Amendment rights to protest.”

“There are no rules saying they have to stand.”

“Who is not going to stand for the National Anthem today?”

The sports world is more focused on NFL players during the playing of the National Anthem, than with their actual play. Camera people crowd around them, as well as the television crews with their broadcast of those kneeling, more than the audience, or on field display.

I hear the talk about viewership declining and all the idiotic rhetoric about the reason, yet I do not hear anyone speaking to the AUDIENCE that’s going away, or the fans at the stadiums who are forced to stand there and take it, or spend more money at the concession stands (maybe that’s the real motivation for tolerating this intolerable display of hate for country).

I am also weary with the lame explanations of the NFL team owners who seem to be afraid to disciple their players, while other owners are displaying their genuine patriotism by their stern guidelines for their players to STAND and honor America and all the greatness of our country which that FLAG represents.

Here are some thoughts I have for consideration;

·        Every employer has conduct guidelines for their employees. For example, conversations about religion and/or politics that cause other employees to not do the work they are hired to do, is forbidden.

NFL Teams also have conduct guidelines that restrict certain activities, especially those that reference how the team is represented. Expressing political protest is indeed a free speech right belonging to all of us. However, you do not have that right WHILE YOU’RE ON THE CLOCK REPRESENTING THE TEAM PAYING YOUR INCOME.

You want to protest, do so on your own time, away from the team and stadium.

·        If that is unacceptable, then have those players who insist on protesting stay in the locker room, or the tunnel leading to the field out of the sight of everyone.

·        TURN THOSE CAMERAS OFF! Maybe, just maybe, the lack of attention will make this whole mess go away.

Like ignoring a child who throws a tantrum every time they don’t get their way stops the tantrums, perhaps giving them zero air time, or pictures, or any form of recognition might give them no incentive to be so disrespectful.

It’s past time for the NFL owners who are so tolerant to realize they are feeding the problem, not solving it. This won’t just go away. I’m so fed up that I won’t turn the game on until I know the game has started, and I very reluctant to spend my money on any product advertised (and I know I’m not the only one).

I love college football. I am one more demonstration away from never turning on an NFL game again. These players and their owners need to realize that we all have the power to turn them off which effects who will advertise their broadcast.

This High School BANNED American Flags For A Pep Rally. The Reason Might Surprise You

Reported by Photo of Eric Owens Eric Owens | Education Editor | 3:58 PM 09/19/2017

Administrators at a public high school in New Hampshire have banned students from using American flags as props or clothing at a forthcoming pep rally because the administrators are concerned that students will treat the flag disrespectfully.

The site of the flag fracas is Londonderry High School, reports local ABC affiliate WMUR-TV.

A couple dozen Londonderry High student athletes who will organize the pep rally received letters describing the event’s rules last week. Most of the rules were standard fare: no insults about opposing teams, not getting naked — that kind of thing. The students who received the letter did notice the added rule about the U.S. flag. The rule read: “No use of the American flag. Do not wear, carry, present the American flag on the floor.”

Students and parents began inquiring about the new rule.

“We’ve had a lot of questions from parents and community members, and this a community that has a considerable tradition of patriotism,” Londonderry school district superintendent Scott Laliberte told WMUR.

Laliberte has issued a statement clarifying the rule.

“It was not our intention to ban the use of the flag at the rally, but instead to limit how students are including the flag in the school event,” the statement says, according to Londonderry News.

“There have been incidents in the past where students carried flags, but in a manner not consistent with the American Legion Flag Code. At previous rallies, some students have included it as part of an outfit allowing the flag to drag on the ground. The email was simply meant to avoid repeating any inadvertent disrespect of our nation’s flag,” the statement also said.

One previous incident in particular involved a student traipsing around that a school pep rally while wearing an American flag as a cape.

“Students are welcomed to bring American flags to the rally, so long as they are displayed with the respect that is deserved.”

Londonderry High principal Jason Parent echoed Laliberte’s statement.

It was out of reverence for the flag,” Parent told WMUR regarding the new policy.

“It’s just that, in this forum, we wanted the flag to be respected.”

The upcoming pep rally at Londonderry High School will include a rendition of the national anthem.

Does the Constitution Mean what the Supreme Court Says It Means?

Monday, September 18, 2017 @ 10:12 AM

Does the Constitution Mean what the Supreme Court Says It Means? Bryan Fischer Host of “Focal Point” MORENote: this is the first in a series of columns written to explain the theme “Everything you’ve heard about the Constitution is wrong.” I’m starting this series in honor of the Constitution, which had its 230th birthday on Sunday, September 17, 2017.

An obviously distressed young female student came into the office of Cornell’s lead Title IX investigator in the fall of 2015. The woman had come in the hopes that Elizabeth McGrath could ease her anguish.

Something terrible had happened to this student that same day, something that had “triggered” an intense emotional reaction inside her; something “oppressive” had happened that left her shaken and in need of urgent help.

What had happened to this poor young woman? Had she been mugged? Had she been assaulted? Had she been threatened? Had she witnessed an act of violence? Had someone flung racist epithets at her? Nope.

She had had the terrifying misfortune of being given a free copy of the United States Constitution. She not only received it but read it, and soon the tremors began. The entire episode left her devastated and trembling.

Said the student, “Is there any way that maybe like we can get rid of it somehow or I can just see that like maybe it will be like therapy for me, like if you can like shred it or something?”

Ms. McGrath eagerly and happily sympathized. “It is a flawed document, she lamented, “and the people who wrote it are certainly flawed individuals in my mind.”

And so without further ado, Ms. McGrath did the only thing any responsible adult in higher education would do, when faced with such a dilemma. She took the nation’s organic legal document, the supreme law of our land, and proceeded to cut it to pieces and leave it in strips in the waste basket.

Enormously relieved to be shuck of such awful baggage, the student left her office with her burden lifted.

This episode, part of an undercover investigative project of James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas, actually happened, with an investigator playing the part of the student. And worse, the faculties at Yale, Syracuse, Vassar and Oberlin did the same thing.         Every school ran the Constitution through the literary equivalent of a wood chipper.

The schools, of course, did not blame themselves for ripping the Constitution to shreds. Oh no, that was the fault of the “deplorable” conduct of the investigator.

My response to this sad but revealing affair is simple: if you’re talking about shredding the Constitution, Cornell is way late to the party. The Supreme Court has been doing that very thing for over 200 years.

“The weakest of the three departments of power”

The famous British politician William Gladstone, who served as prime minister of England no less than four times over his 60 year career in politics, once observed that “the American Constitution is the most wonderful work ever struck off at a given time by the brain and purpose of man.” Gladstone was talking about the Constitution as it came from the hands of the Founders, not the one that has been twisted, distorted, and wrenched out of shape by renegade and out-of-control judges. He would weep today to see what a hyperactive judiciary has done to this masterpiece.

Our Constitution has been shredded and mangled by judicial tyrants wearing black robes, who have left this once magnificent document in tatters and made it virtually unrecognizable. Only fragile strips of parchment remain from what once was – and still can be – the most remarkable political document in the history of human civilization.

The Constitution was intended to serve as the pillar on which our entire system of government rests. And yet federal judges, swinging their gavels like sledgehammers, have reduced much of it to rubble.

The Supreme Court has arrogated to itself a power the Founders never intended it to have, a power not delegated to the Court anywhere in the Constitution. The Court was designed to be the least powerful branch of government, its jurisdiction and authority strictly circumscribed by clear and unambiguous boundaries.

“At the establishment of our constitutions,” wrote Jefferson, “the judiciary bodies were supposed to be the most helpless and harmless members of the government.”

Joseph Story concurred (Commentaries, Sec 1595): “The judiciary is, beyond comparison, the weakest of the three departments of power.”

The Court was considered to possess so little power that It met in a closet in its early days, and then bounced around from room to room in the Capitol until it eventually landed in chambers abandoned by the Senate. It did not even have its own building until 1934.

It convened for less than two weeks a year over its first decade, and then only for six to eight weeks a year for the next half century.

Joseph Story, author of the magisterial Commentaries on the Constitution agreed with Jefferson about the impotence of the Court as the Founders designed it:

The judiciary, from the nature of its functions, will always be the least dangerous to the political rights of the constitution; because it will be least in a capacity to annoy, or injure them. The executive not only dispenses the honors, but holds the sword of the community. The legislature, not only commands the purse, but prescribes the rules, by which the duties and rights of every citizen are to be regulated. The judiciary, on the contrary, has no influence over either the sword, or the purse; no direction either of the strength, or of the wealth of the society; and can take no active resolution whatever. It may truly be said to have neither force, nor will, but merely judgment; and must ultimately depend upon the aid of the executive arm, for the efficacious exercise even of this faculty” (Sec. 1594).

The Court was deliberately designed by the Founders to be so weak that it could not compel anyone to do anything. It could issue an opinion, but if the Executive branch looked at its ruling, decided it was flatly unconstitutional, and refused to enforce such an unjust decree, the Court would be left utterly helpless. It’s about time in our own day for the Executive to do its job and stop mindlessly enforcing edicts it knows are wrong.

As Story added (Sec. 1582), “It may, in the last place, be observed, that the supposed danger of judiciary encroachments on the legislative authority, which has been upon many occasions reiterated, is, in reality, a phantom … from its total incapacity to support its usurpations by force.”

Thus the Court, under the Founders’ Constitution, would be entirely dependent upon the goodwill of the American people since it has no authority to enforce its opinions by force. None. As long as the Court behaved honorably, there was no reason for the American people to reject its opinions.

But in our day, when the Court is completely out of control and acts as a law unto itself, it now owes its influence purely to the obsequious acquiescence of the American people to its tyrannical edicts. If the people of a given state and their elected representatives decided to ignore a plainly unconstitutional opinion from the Court, there’s not a thing the Court can do about it. It has no police force at its disposal which it can summon to punish miscreants.

“The important constitutional check … the power of instituting impeachments”

The power of impeachment was designed by the Founders to be a real and present check on the hubris of activist judges:

“And the inference is greatly fortified by the consideration of the important constitutional check, which the power of instituting impeachments in one part of the legislative body, and of determining upon them in the other, would give to that body upon the members of the judicial department. This is alone a complete security. There never can be danger, that the judges, by a series of deliberate usurpations on the authority of the legislature, would hazard the united resentment of the body entrusted with it, while this body was possessed of the means of punishing their presumption, by degrading them from their stations” (Story, Sec 1582).

The contemporary problem, quite obviously, is that Congress has dispossessed itself of this power, through its own weakness and meek capitulation to the bullying edicts of the justices. That which was designed to be the ultimate, in fact the only necessary, check on renegade justices has been discarded and left useless and unemployed while the Court struts unimpeded throughout the land, making a wreck of virtually everything it touches. The power of impeachment is utterly worthless unless it is used, like an eminently necessary tool left to rust in the bottom of a tool box.

“A new rule for future cases”

Remarkably, there is another tool given to Congress to rein in a renegade Supreme Court, which is rarely if ever talked about. Congress can enact a law, in reference to an egregiously bad Supreme Court decision, that compels a different result the next time a similar case comes before it. Now it cannot reverse a bad Court decision, but it can make sure the same mistake is not repeated.

This is how Story expresses it (Sec. 1581):

“It is not true, in the second place, that the parliament of Great Britain, or the legislatures of the particular states, can rectify the exceptionable decisions of their respective courts, in any other sense, than might be done by a future legislature of the United States. The theory, neither of the British nor the state constitutions, authorizes the revisal of a judicial sentence by a legislative act. Nor is there any thing in the proposed constitution, more than in either of them, by which it is forbidden. In the former, as in the latter, the impropriety of the thing, on the general principles of law and reason, is the sole obstacle. A legislature, without exceeding its province, cannot reverse a determination, once made, in a particular case; though it may prescribe a new rule for future cases. This is the principle, and it applies, in all its consequences, exactly in the same manner and extent to the state governments, as to the national government, now under consideration. Not the least difference can be pointed out in any view of the subject.”

To give but one example, sixteen couples went before the Supreme Court to gain recognition for their same sex marriages. The Court, in Obergefell v. Hodges, opined that they could. So that decision is settled, and cannot be reversed. Fine. Those sixteen couples get their marriage licenses.

But Congress has the liberty, under the Founders’ Constitution, to enact legislation that directs future courts to refuse marital recognition to the next same-sex couple that darkens their doors. It’s long past time for them to do it.

The Supreme Court, not the supreme branch of government

The Constitution was intended by the Framers to strictly limit the size, reach and power of the federal government. But the Court, by imposing its own will over the will of the Constitution itself, has transmogrified the central government into a freedom-destroying behemoth which endangers every liberty which the Constitution was intended to protect.

The Court has appointed itself the supreme branch of government rather than simply one of three co-equal branches. But as Gov. Mike Huckabee has often pointed out, it is the supreme court, not the supreme branch of government. As a friend of mine is fond of saying, “The Supreme Court – isn’t.”

By claiming a supreme authority it is not given anywhere in the Constitution, the Court now exercises dictatorial authority over the other two branches of the central government and over the American people as a whole. It now rides the beast of the federal government like the great harlot of Revelation 17.

It is time for us to pull this rider off the beast, and, with regard to the beast itself, it is time for “We the People” once again, as Thomas Jefferson put it, to “bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.”

The Constitution means what the Founders intended it to mean

How do we do this?  I read a story one time about an American tourist who was lost in the English countryside. He asked a local farmer, “How do I get to London?” The farmer thought for a moment and said “Well, if I was going to London, I wouldn’t start from here.”

And so to find our way home, we must begin at the only place it is possible to begin, and that is by understanding the Constitution as it was crafted by the Founders. One of the cardinal principles of interpreting any piece of literature, whether it’s the Bible, the Constitution, or Shakespeare, or Calvin and Hobbes, is that a text means exactly what its author (or authors) intended it to mean. No more and no less.

Long-time literary critic and Yale and University of Virginia professor E.D. Hirsch correctly explained in his book Validity in Interpretation, no document is in fact a “living” document in the sense that its meaning changes over time. Any document means exactly what its author intended it to mean at the time it was written. While interpretations of it can change, and our understanding of its significance may change, its meaning never does. Its actual meaning is fixed for all time by the intent of the author. His words mean just what he intended them to mean.

Accurate interpretation of any text, in other words, is an objective affair, not a subjective one, and requires us to understand the culture of the writer’s day and a working understanding of the knowledge that was possessed both by the author and his intended audience.

To give a simple example. If I write the phrase “I’m going to look into that trunk,” that phrase has a range of possible meanings, depending upon whether I am speaking as a traveler, an automobile mechanic, a telephone repairman, or a squirrel. But the word “trunk” in my expression means exactly what I intend it to mean. If I am writing about the trunk of my car, then that is what the word means in my document. I emphatically do not intend for it to refer to a suitcase, a bundle of telephone lines, or a tree. Authorial intent is the controlling factor.

When I see a brochure advertising a trip to the Holy Land led by “Ancient Near Eastern Scholars,” I do not understand the authors to mean that these tour guides are senile and decrepit, so you better come on our tour before they keel over and die.

When I see a sign that says “Slow – Children at Play,” by “slow” I know that the authors are referring to the speed of my vehicle and not the clumsiness or the intelligence of the kids in the neighborhood. When I see a sign that says, “Sorry – Pumps closed,” I understand “sorry” to refer to an apology and not the condition of the gas pumps.

Interpreting the Constitution just like interpreting the Bible

In simple point of fact, a document either means what its author intended it to mean, or it can mean anything your fevered imagination can invent. This is the exact principle that governs the interpretation of the Bible. In fact, interpreting the Constitution is just like interpreting the Bible. Both documents mean what their authors intended them to mean, period.

For instance, when the Bible says that Jesus physically died on the cross and three days later rose physically from the dead, that’s exactly what it means. When it says he ate fish in the presence of the disciples after his resurrection, and the disciples both saw and touched the wounds in his wrists and in his side after they had seen him die, that’s exactly what it means. Now you may not believe what the authors say, or you may disagree with what they say, or you may think they imagined the whole thing, but intellectual honesty will require you to admit that’s what they said, and that’s what they intended to say.

We’ve probably all heard interpretations of the Scripture that were quite fanciful and even preposterous. For instance, contemporary Bible commentators have twisted themselves into pretzels trying to find a way to maintain that the Scriptures approve of homosexuality, but if we are honest with ourselves we all know that they’re reaching and coming up with interpretations that make hash out of the plain biblical text. After all, there is nothing ambiguous about the verse, “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination” (Leviticus 18:22). You may wish the Scriptures didn’t teach that homosexuality is a sin but it is foolish and intellectually dishonest to pretend it doesn’t.

I once read about a 19th century cultural observer who watched preachers grapple with Darwin’s newly introduced theory of evolution. As they wrestled with reconciling evolution and Scripture, they turned themselves inside out trying to make the two fit together. Noted the critic, they had a “marvelous gift of explaining things away.” That is, they could take the uncomfortable and counter-cultural things in Scripture, difficult because of modern sensibilities, and maneuver around them through imaginative and fanciful interpretations and reinterpretations of the biblical text. They could make the Bible say what they wanted it to say rather than what God wanted it to say.

When it comes to interpreting the Constitution, the Constitution means exactly what the Founders intended it to mean, no more and no less. “The first and fundamental rule in the interpretation of all instruments,” wrote Story, “is to construe them according to the sense of the terms, and the intention of the parties“(Sec 400).

In Section 451, Story elaborated on that principle:

“In the first place, then, every word employed in the constitution is to be expounded in its plain, obvious, and common sense, unless the context furnishes some ground to control, qualify, or enlarge it. Constitutions are not designed for metaphysical or logical subtleties, for niceties of expression, for critical propriety, for elaborate shades of meaning, or for the exercise of philosophical acuteness, or judicial research.”

When the Constitution uses the phrase “establishment of religion,” it means exactly what the Founders intended it to mean.  When it refers to the “free exercise” of religion, it means exactly what the Founders intended it to mean. When it refers to the “right of the people to keep and bear arms,” it means exactly what the Founders intended it to mean. When the Constitution uses the word “commerce,” it means exactly what the Founders intended it to mean. We’ll examine each of these in detail as we proceed.

The plain meaning of a plain provision in the Constitution can be so mangled that rulings can restrain what it was intended to protect and permit what it was intended to restrain. For instance, a badly adulterated understanding of the term “establishment” in the First Amendment has resulted in an astonishing and alarming repression of the “free exercise” of religion, which is guaranteed in the same amendment. As Story said, “No construction of a given power is to be allowed, which plainly defeats, or impairs its avowed objects” (Sec. 428). If the object of the First Amendment is to protect the free exercise of religion, and the Court’s opinions instead severely restrict religious liberty, then the Court is flatly wrong.

Story warned quite directly against enlarging the power of the central government beyond its constitutional limits just because politicians don’t like its restraints. “On the other hand, a rule of equal importance is, not to enlarge the construction of a given power beyond the fair scope of its terms, merely because the restriction is inconvenient, impolitic, or even mischievous” (Sec 426). For instance, the power to regulate “commerce” has been extended out of all proportion to the meaning the word had at the time simply because power-hungry big-government types wanted control over every aspect of the American economy.

Antonin Scalia, who was one of the great originalists on the Court, described the proper theory of constitutional interpretation this way: “The theory of originalism … gives it (the Constitution) the meaning that its words were understood to bear at the time they were promulgated … I take the words as they were promulgated to the people of the United States, and what is the fairly understood meaning of those words.” Exactly.

Senator says he nearly has the votes for ObamaCare repeal

Reported

“I am pretty confident we’ll get there on the Republican side,” Cassidy told a group of reporters in his office on Friday. “We’re probably at 48-49 [votes] and talking to two or three more.”

The problem for Senate Republicans when it comes to ObamaCare repeal has always been getting the final few votes to put them over the top. The repeal legislation that failed in July got 49 votes, but fell short because three GOP senators bucked leadership and voted no.

There is an extremely short window to pass the bill before a procedural deadline of Sept. 30. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Friday announced his opposition, saying the bill kept too much of ObamaCare.

Cassidy said that if the bill does not pass by Sept. 30, he would try again in the future.

But he pointed to a closed-door Senate GOP lunch on Thursday as a positive sign. He said after an informal discussion of the bill, Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) asked to devote the lunch to discussing health care more deeply.

“I told my wife when I got home last night that yesterday may have been my best day as a senator, and I’ve had some pretty good days,” Cassidy said.

Cassidy said the high point of the discussion was when Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nev.), who is co-sponsoring the measure and facing a tough reelection race next year, stood up.

“I’m running for reelection. People have told me to lay low on health care,” Heller said, according to Cassidy. “I said I’m not laying low. I wasn’t elected senator to lay low.”

The plan, which was put forward by Cassidy, Heller, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), seeks to give more power to states. It ends ObamaCare funding for subsidies to help people afford coverage and funding for the Medicaid expansion, instead converting both pots of money into a block grant to states

GOP leadership, though, has not thrown its full weight behind the bill, which would mean diving back into the divisive ObamaCare debate. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has told Cassidy and Graham that they need to find 51 votes on their own.

But Cassidy said that leadership is telling the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to prioritize its analysis of the measure, a crucial step before it can be considered on the floor.

“We’re told that CBO was told by our leadership to make this a priority above all other priorities,” Cassidy said. “Mitch has always said, ‘Show me you can get 50 votes.’ ”

With 50 votes, Republicans could then rely on Vice President Pence to break the tie.

Sen. John Cornyn (Texas), the No. 2 Republican in the upper chamber, said Thursday that he would do a whip count on the bill to determine its level of support.

The prospects of the bill passing have alarmed Democratic activists, who are now mobilizing against it. Democrats argue the block grants in the bill would be too small and would lead to cuts in Medicaid and other health spending. The liberal Center on Budget and Policy Priorities found that the measure would lead to a 17 percent cut in spending compared to ObamaCare in 2026.

Cassidy, though, argues, that his measure simply equalizes spending by giving more money to many states that have not expanded Medicaid under ObamaCare and cutting back on some high-cost states that he argues are spending too much.

“Should the rest of the country sacrifice because they have costs that are so incredibly high?” Cassidy said, using Massachusetts as an example of a state he said spends too much.

Defending a new cap on overall Medicaid payments in the bill, Cassidy said that current spending on the program is “not sustainable.”

The bill would also allow states to apply for waivers to repeal ObamaCare regulations, including the prohibition against insurers charging sick people higher premiums.

Cassidy, who has long promised to protect people with pre-existing conditions, said that the bill would still protect them because states would have to show they are providing “affordable and adequate” coverage in order to get a waiver. He also said coverage losses that will likely be found by the CBO for his bill would be wrong. The office’s analysis puts too much importance on the effect of repealing ObamaCare’s mandate to have coverage, he said.

“I just don’t care about the coverage numbers because their methodology has been proven to be wrong,” Cassidy said.

Asked why he has kept plugging away on his bill, Cassidy cited the book “A Peace to End All Peace,” about the history of the Middle East and David Ben-Gurion, the founder of Israel.

“The author says David Ben-Gurion was of the type that said, ‘If you continue to do what is right, good things happen,’” Cassidy said. “So we figured we’d just keep plugging away and doing what’s right, and something good would happen.”

Watch: Weather Channel Founder Sets Climate Change Nut Straight With Facts

Reported

Advertisement – story continues below

During an appearance on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” three years ago, The Weather Channel founder John Coleman destroyed, eviscerated and demolished both CNN and host Brian Stelter over their fanatical dedication to the unproven theory of man-made climate change.

“I resent you calling me a ‘denier,’” he initially told Stelter, referencing the host’s decision to identify him as a so-called “climate denier,” according to a transcript from The Heartland Center. “I’m a skeptic about climate change.”

Stelter then made the unwise decision to interrupt Coleman to tell him how much he personally loves The Weather Channel. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is when Coleman began letting him have it.

“I’m talking now!” he barked back. “Hold on just a minute. I’m not done. And CNN has taken a very strong position on global warming that it is a consensus. There is no consensus in science. Science isn’t a vote. Science is about facts. And if you get down to the hard cold facts, there’s no question about it. Climate change is not happening.”

When Stelter interrupted him again shortly thereafter to argue that it wouldn’t be possible for them to reach a definitive conclusion on man-made climate change during the show, Coleman hit him again. “Oh I know we’re not, because you would’t allow it to happen on CNN,” he snarkily replied.

Watch the full brutal interview below:

The remainder of the interview continued in the same vein, with Stelter repeatedly trotting out bogus “facts,” and Coleman slapping them down every time.

“That’s a manipulated figure and let me explain it to you,” he said when Stelter touted the “fact” that 97 percent of climate scientists believe in climate change.

He explained that the government will only fund scientists who produce certain scientific results that fit their desired agenda.

“So, they don’t have any choice,” he said. “If you’re going to get the money, you gotta support their position. Therefore, 97 percent of the scientific reports published support global warming. Why? Because those are the ones the government pays for and that’s where the money is.”

“I’m not a scientist, so I’m not going to try to refute you,” Stelter replied, to which Coleman replied with the slam of the year: “Boy, that’s the truth.“

Ain’t it, though!?

“So please stand back from this issue … There are 31,000 scientists who have signed a petition that says it is not valid, that my position is correct,” he added. “And we’ll keep battling, and we will prevail in time, but I don’t know if we’ll do it in my lifetime.”

As of September, an astonishing 31,487 scientists with 9,029 PhDs have signed the petition.

Berkeley’s Overreaction to Conservative Speaker Is Incredibly Pathetic

Reported By Andrew West | September 14, 2017

ANTIFA: Violence is Necessary

Posted by GirlsJustWannaHaveGuns.com | on September 14, 2017

The extreme liberal movement Antifa, anti-fascists, are continuing to protest President Trump all throughout the nation. They claim their use of violence is ‘necessary’ to combat authoritarianism and they are not sorry about it. ‘Experts’ and activists alike in the Antifa movement agree that the ‘use of force is intrinsic to their political philosophy,’ the Hill reports.

“The justification [of the use of violence] is that Nazi ideology at its very core is founded on violence and on wielding power by any means,” said Mike Isaacson, founder of Smash Racism D.C., an antifa organization in Washington.

Isaacson is unequivocal in his defense of violence as a legitimate tool to combat the creeping threat of what he deems authoritarianism.

The Hill

“There is the question of whether these people should feel safe organizing as Nazis in public, and I don’t think they should,” said Isaacson.

“I don’t think anyone should think that someone who is intent on politically organizing for the sake of creating a state-sponsored genocide — I don’t think is something that we should protect.”

This report comes after it was revealed Antifa has started a violent anti-cop ‘workshop’ titled “Our Enemies in Blue”. The program is being touted on various alt-left websites — including It’s Going Down, Sub.Media and Insurrection News — and are promoting it as a Revolutionary Abolitionist Movement (RAM). They are openly calling for violence against the police.

The group published a press release: in it they disclosed their plan to serve as a protective barrier to mosques that “are being ruthlessly bombed” (are they talking about America?) and the alleged systematic battering of LGBTQ community. “The destruction of black life continues unabated as millions languish in the plantations of the modern day slave system,” it states.

The ‘heroins’ of RAM includes Mumia Abu Jamal, “the Black Panther activist who shot and killed Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981,” and Russell Shoats, “who shot a police officer in the back five times in 1970.”

Far Left Watch has outlined the goals of RAM, which is everything from “Abolition of Gender” to the “Expropriation and the Cooperative Economy.” ‘Much of this borrows from the leftist guerilla movement known as the Rojava Revolution in northern Syria, who are currently involved in battling ISIS,’ reports the Daily Wire.

It has been reported, by the Daily Caller, that RAM has been holding different anti-police workshops including: “Legal Training”, “Introduction to Anarchism,” and “Our Enemies in Blue,” which deals with actual actions against the police–or how to handle law enforcement during violent clashes.

Today’s Ann Coulter Letter: “No Amnesty Is a Good Amnesty”

Commentary by Ann Coulter  |

Donald Trump is being told that amnesty for “Dreamers,” or DACA recipients, will only apply to a small, narrowly defined group of totally innocent, eminently deserving illegal immigrants, who were brought to this country “through no fault of their own” as “children.” (Children who are up to 36 years old.)

Every syllable of that claim is a lie, and I can prove it.

To see how DACA will actually work, let’s look at another extremely limited amnesty that was passed in 1986. Farmers wanted temporary guest-worker permits for their cheap labor, so that they could continue pretending that the Industrial Revolution never happened and refuse to mechanize. (And, boy, did that work! We haven’t heard a peep about “crops rotting in the fields” since then.)

The agricultural amnesty was supposed to apply to — at most — 350,000 illegal aliens. It would be available only to illegals who were currently in the country doing the back-breaking farm work that no American would do. Without them, crops would wither on the vine. They were saving us from starvation!

Talk about deserving. Are any Dreamers saving us from starvation?

But instead of guest-worker permits, then-Rep. Charles Schumer — from the lush farmland of Brooklyn — decided to grant full amnesty to any illegals who had done farm work for at least 90 days in the previous year. That’s pretty restrictive, isn’t it?

In the end, “up to 350,000 farm workers” turned into 1.3 million.

Oh well, what are you going to do? No use worrying — let’s just move forward and get all these people voter registration cards!

This innocent little amnesty for a small, clearly defined group of illegals quickly became amnesty for anyone who applied. The same thing will happen with any other amnesty, no matter how strictly the law is written. (And it won’t be written strictly.)

In the first few years of the agricultural amnesty, internal Immigration and Naturalization Service statistics showed that 888,637 legalization applications were fraudulent. According to immigration agents, “farm workers” stated in their interviews that cotton was purple or that they had pulled cherries from the ground.

Of the 888,637 fraudulent applications, guess how many our government approved. Answer: More than 800,000.

The agricultural amnesty was so carefully administered that not one, but TWO of the 1993 World Trade Center bombers were in this country because of it. (More on that in another column.)

The main problem with the farm worker amnesty, the DACA amnesty or any amnesty is that everyone involved in the entire immigration apparatus is feverishly working, on the taxpayer’s dime, to transform this country into a Third World hellhole. Lawyers for La Raza and lawyers for the government both believe it is their mission to humiliate and destroy white Christian America. (Actually, this country is “biracial Christian America,” plus a few Amerindians and anyone else who assimilated to Western European culture.) There are multitudes of them, and they will never, ever stop.

Congress could pass a law granting amnesty to any 7-foot-tall, left-handed, red-headed illegal aliens from Lichtenstein — and hundreds of left-wing outfits would instantly set to work, demanding amnesty for witch doctors, cannibals, pederasts, terrorists and the rest of the multicultural universe that makes America so vibrant.

On the other side of the application process would be government immigration bureaucrats who either used to work at La Raza, or hope to in the future.

On the off chance that some particularly risible amnesty application is denied by a stodgy rules-follower in our immigration bureaucracy, that denial will be litigated before a federal judge in Hawaii, then appealed to the Ninth Circuit.

For two decades after the 1986 amnesty, the federal courts were tied up with dozens of class-action lawsuits brought on behalf of illegal aliens — regular illegal aliens, farm worker illegal aliens and still-in-Mexico illegal aliens — challenging every aspect of the law.

Is that how American tax dollars should be spent? On endless litigation, brought by America-hating activists on behalf of people who have no right to be in our country and decided by Democrat-appointed judges? (Who are also America-hating activists.)

And when their work is done, there will be a lot more Democrat-appointed judges because there will be a lot more Democrats.

Lawyers sued over everything — the absence of Creole interpreters, the requirement that illegals have proof of prior farm work and the rare denials of amnesty. Congress desperately tried passing laws that would prevent courts from hearing these cases — all to no avail. Left-wing lawyers just had to pick the right judge, and they won.

In 2005 — nearly 20 years after the 1986 amnesty — the Ninth Circuit was still granting amnesty to hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens who claimed they had been unfairly denied because they were not in the country for the first amnesty. Seriously.

No matter how the law is written, as long as anyone is eligible for amnesty, everybody’s getting amnesty.

President Trump is the last president who will ever have a chance to make the right decision on immigration. After this, it’s over. The boat will have sailed. If he succeeds, all the p@ssy-grabbing and Russia nonsense will burn off like a morning fog. He will be the president who saved the American nation, its character, its sovereignty, its core identity. But if he fails, Donald Trump will go down in history as the man who killed America.
