211 Babies Saved From Abortion So Far During 40 Days for Life Campaign

Here we are at the halfway point of our 40 Days for Life campaign … and God has really been generous with His blessings! So far, there have been 211 babies saved from abortion that we know of. And maybe more!

Here are a couple of stories about the impact of the peaceful, prayerful vigils.

LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS
——————————————————-

40d25Deana and other 40 Days for Life participants in Little Rock watched as three couples arrived at the abortion center – and all left without having abortions.

The first couple arrived with a child. “They were told they couldn’t bring the child into the building,” Deana said. After a short time, they exited the side door of the abortion facility and left.

A second couple arrived – and was quickly met by a security guard who said they couldn’t bring the bag they were carrying inside. They left the bag in their car and went in. “Not long afterward, they were seen leaving,” Deana said. The young woman was in tears.

As a third couple then approached the building, volunteers noticed the woman had a bewildered look on her face. They weren’t inside very long. When they came out, the woman had that same wide-eyed look on. They also left the area and did not return.

“We pray that they chose life for these babies and find the support they need,” Deana said.

TUCSON, ARIZONA

Kaitlynn said as volunteers were praying outside the abortion center in Tucson, a young woman pulled up and parked – in the wrong lot. These parking spaces are very close to the vigil location, and “for that very reason, women are told not to park there.”

“She got out of the car and looked anxious,” Kaitlynn said. “She was 16 weeks pregnant and her boyfriend told her she had to get an abortion. After we informed her that no one could force her to have an abortion, we gave her information about the local pro-life pregnancy resource centers.”

After gladly reviewing her newfound options, the woman declared she would not follow through with the abortion. “A life was saved,” Kaitlynn said, “all because she chose the wrong parking lot!”

Six States Are Almost Abortion-Free and Have Just One Abortion Business Left

http://www.lifenews.com/2014/03/24/six-states-are-almost-abortion-free-and-have-just-one-abortion-business-left/

Back in January 2010 I reported that the DC Abortion Fund had given the “gorgeous and touching” coat hanger pendant as a holiday fundraising gift. And it’s so très chic, constructed of “handmade sterling silver,” no less.

Two days ago, National Review Online noticed DCAF is again hawking the coat hanger bauble, and this time Drudge picked up the story, drawing the abortion funder lots of scorn.

goodnewsAn editor at U.S. News & World Report called DCAF’s give-away a “misguided parody” that “makes you wonder what goes on in the minds of people who think a trinket like that is a good idea as it lampoons the horrors of back alley abortions and makes light of the imagery the supporters of legal abortion used for decades to get their point across.”

I, on the other hand, want to thank DCAF and the pro-abortion community for their decades long “anti-coathanger abortion” public service announcements. They pretty much ensure no one will be so senseless as to try to kill her baby that way once abortion again becomes illegal, since the psa’s make it clear she might take herself out in the process.

Indeed, I think evidence points to the fact that the coathanger-abortion psa’s are having a positive impact in almost-post-abortion America. If, when abortions become difficult to obtain, we will return to the coathanger-abortion days, as abortion proponents threaten, you’d think we’d already be seeing them in any of the six states – Arkansas,  Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming – that are now down to one abortion provider. But no.

Or how about in Texas, where a “400-mile stretch between Houston and the Louisiana border,” in the “vast, impoverished Rio Grande Valley,” quoting CBS News, is now without an abortion clinic?

Indeed, if abortion access is indeed now “in a full-blown crisis,” as claimed at Salon the other day, shouldn’t we be seeing that crisis played out in coathanger abortions?

But we have abortion advocates constantly warning against them, from old

Actually, abortion proponents know the truth. The just don’t want others to learn their coathanger abortion threat is a lie. So they just keep telling it louder.

All their other arguments are failing.

LifeNews.com Note: Jill Stanek fought to stop “live birth abortions” after witnessing one as an RN at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois. That led to the Born Alive Infants Protection Act legislation, signed by President Bush, that would ensure that proper medical care be given to unborn children who survive botched abortion attempts.

New Video Powerfully Shows the Travesty of 56 Million Abortions

Today, Life Dynamics, a national pro-life organization located in Denton, Texas, has released a new video comparing unborn babies killed inside American abortion clinics to those killed from American wars.

56 millionAccording to the latest statistics, there were 1.06 million abortions reported in the United States for the year 2011, the last year the stats have been publicly recorded.

From 1973 through 2011, at least 56 million unborn children have been killed in abortions.

Mark Crutcher, president of Life Dynamics in explaining why they created this video said, “We did this video because it’s very easy to talk about 55 million dead babies but no one can fully wrap their minds around those numbers. This will help America understand just how overwhelming these numbers are and demonstrate the magnitude of abortion in the United States.”

Louisiana bans use of welfare benefits for tattoos, lingerie, jewelry

Louisiana welfare recipients will be prohibited from spending the federal assistance at lingerie shops, tattoo parlors, nail salons and jewelry stores, under new limits enacted by state social services officials.

The Department of Children and Family Services announced the emergency regulations late Thursday. They cover the Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program — commonly known as welfare benefits — and the Kinship Care Subsidy Program.

Both programs pay cash assistance to low-income families for items like food, clothing and housing.

DCFS Secretary Suzy Sonnier said the agency decided to ban the use of electronic benefit cards, which work as debit cards, at stores that don’t sell items that are considered basic needs for families.

“This rule will not affect families who currently use the program as intended, which is to provide food, shelter and clothing for families,” Sonnier said in a statement.

About 3,500 households in Louisiana receive welfare benefits, and about 2,400 households get kinship care subsidies, according to the department. Average payments are $192 per month for welfare and $419 a month for kinship care.

The emergency regulations come a week after WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge reported that an Ascension Parish lingerie store posted a sign noting that it accepted the welfare benefits card along with most credit cards.

Also barred in the latest restrictions from taking welfare debit cards are video arcades, bail bond companies, cruise ships, psychics, adult-entertainment businesses, nightclubs, bars and any businesses where minors are not allowed.

Violators of the new regulations will stop receiving welfare benefits for a year for a first offense, two years for a second offense and permanently for a third offense, according to the social services department.

The department also said it is seeking to enact the restrictions in law and allow the state to fine retailers who don’t follow the guidelines. Rep. Chris Broadwater, R-Hammond, will sponsor the bill for consideration in the current legislative session.

“I hope that we can meet the spirit of intent of the program while also ensuring that state and federal tax dollars are being used appropriately,” Broadwater said in a statement.

Last year, the social services agency enacted new regulations that banned the spending of welfare money on cigarettes, alcohol and lottery tickets. Those regulations also included prohibitions on the use of a welfare electronic benefit card at liquor stores, gambling sites and strip clubs, as required under a recently-passed federal law.

Tracking violations may be difficult, however, because the welfare money can be taken off the electronic benefit card as cash through an ATM. Social services officials said they rely on businesses and the public to report suspected violations.

The bill, titled the “Repeal the Job Killing Health Care Law Act,” was set to come up for a vote this week, but in the wake of Gabby’s shooting, it has been postponed at least until next week. Don’t get me wrong — I’m not suggesting that the name of that one piece of legislation somehow led to the horror of this weekend — but is it really necessary to put the word “killing” in the title of a major piece of legislation? — Chellie Pingree, Congresswoman (D-ME)

Homeland Security Exercise Targets “Free Americans Against Socialist Tyranny”

Leaked documents reveal plan to counter online dissent during martial law

Paul Joseph Watson
Infowars.com
March 24, 2014

Leaked Homeland Security documents obtained by Infowars reveal details of a joint DHS/FEMA national exercise set to take place this week, one of the components of which revolves around an effort to counter online dissent by a group called “Free Americans Against Socialist Tyranny,” which is disgruntled at the imposition of martial law after an earthquake in Alaska.

Image: DHS (Wiki Commons).

The document again underscores the federal government’s obsession with characterizing libertarians and conservatives as some kind of extremist radical threat.

The document (PDF) was leaked by an individual affiliated with Stewart Rhodes’ Oathkeepers organization and passed on to Infowars. It is entitled National Exercise Program – Capstone Exercise 2014 – Scenario Ground Truth.

The document is intended for “U.S. Department of Homeland Security Trusted Agents Only” and is “disseminated only on a
need-to-know basis.” Even the role players involved in the exercise itself are prohibited from seeing the files.

The exercise is designed to evaluate readiness in preparation for a catastrophic incident, natural disaster or major act of terrorism. Some of the scenarios which will be in play during the exercise include a series of earthquakes, tsunamis and a nuclear weapons accident.

On page 125 of the document, a scenario is outlined whereby a group calling itself “Free Americans against Socialist Tyranny” responds to “The U.S. Northern Command mission of Defense Support to Civil Authorities” (or the imposition of martial law) by launching a protest campaign on social media and potentially engaging in cyber attacks.

According to the scenario, the campaign is driven by suspicion that “the government is responsible for the Alaska earthquake and a “hacktivist” manifesto.”

“The U.S. Northern Command mission of Defense Support to Civil Authorities has led to increased activity by some anti-government organizations,” states the document. “Currently, the most vocal organization is Free Americans against Socialist Tyranny; using social media, they advertise anti-U.S. rhetoric focusing on the Department of Defense as well as to recruit like-minded individuals to join their “cause”.

“While some Free Americans against Socialist Tyranny members are capable of conducting adverse cyber operations, the greatest threat is current government employees sympathetic to their cause,” the document adds. “It is believed that there are employees within US Northern Command, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, National Guard, and Defense Information Systems Agency that may support Free Americans against Socialist Tyranny doctrine based on individual comments on social media sites. Free Americans against Socialist Tyranny sympathizers may include both former and current members of the military with training on satellite communications, computer network defense, network operations, as well as military command and control.”

The scenario also suggests that Northern Command members sympathetic to Free Americans Against Socialist Tyranny may attempt to hack the North American Aerospace Defense Command as a form of retaliation.

This is by no means the first time that the Department of Homeland Security has characterized anti-big government Americans as domestic extremists.

A study funded by the Department of Homeland Security, details of which emerged in 2012, characterized Americans who are “suspicious of centralized federal authority,” and “reverent of individual liberty” as “extreme right-wing” terrorists.

As we have exhaustively documented on numerous occasions, federal authorities and particularly the Department of Homeland Security have been involved in producing a deluge of literature which portrays liberty lovers and small government advocates as extremist radicals.

The document also mentions the threat posed by “disgruntled military and Department of Defense civilians,” which ties into the talking point, repeatedly promoted by the DHS and other federal agencies, that returning veterans pose a major domestic terror threat.

The Capstone Exercise 2014 document makes it clear that a key part of the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA’s preparation for the aftermath of major catastrophic incidents in the United States is centered around combating online dissent which will be sparked as a result of federal authorities and military assets instituting martial law, or what the document refers to as “Defense Support to Civil Authorities”.

This is particularly chilling given reports that emerged in 2006 concerning a nationwide FEMA program under which Pastors and other religious representatives were trained to become secret police enforcers who teach their congregations to “obey the government” in preparation for a declaration of martial law, property and firearm seizures, and forced relocation.

The fact that the DHS is focusing its cyber security efforts during a major national exercise not on targeting foreign state actors or terrorists but on combating online dissent by conservatives is sure to increase concerns that the federal agency once again has libertarians, patriots and small government activists in the crosshairs.

City rejects media cover-up when violence breaks out in newspaper parking lot

By Colin Flaherty
Colin Flaherty is an award-winning reporter and author of “White Girl Bleed a Lot: The return of racial violence to America and how the media ignore it.”

(Editor’s note: Colin Flaherty has done more reporting than any other journalist on what appears to be a nationwide trend of skyrocketing black-on-white crime, violence and abuse. WND features these reports to counterbalance the virtual blackout by the rest of the media due to their concerns that reporting such incidents would be inflammatory or even racist. WND considers it racist not to report racial abuse solely because of the skin color of the perpetrators or victims. Videos linked or embedded may contain foul language and violence.)

Ten years ago, the media in Louisville, Ky., could have gotten away with reporting this weekend’s events this way: A group of 10 “roving teens got into a fight with two girls … then it happened a few more times over two hours.”

But now, less than 24 hours after a mob of 30 black people roamed through the city’s downtown Saturday, beating, laughing, destroying property, sending three seriously hurt people to the hospital and walking away laughing, outraged citizens in Louisville are asking two questions: Why is black mob violence such a problem? And when is local media going to start telling the truth about it?

Samantha Craven saw one of the attacks: “I seriously just witnessed a man get beat (almost) to death on Broadway right by 4th street live,” she wrote at the WAVE-TV News site. “He was jumped by AT LEAST 30 kids!! There was blood everywhere. … This is the craziest s— I’ve ever seen in my life! I’m shaking. … I wanna cry.”

Later, via email, Craven described the attackers as black and added, “As we drove away, we noticed the group still walking laughing and carrying on a few blocks down.”

WHAS-TV News described one of the assaults as a “fight.” But it was hardly that.

“It was a group of black teens,” said Craig Roberts of Louisville. “Wonder why they won’t mention that.”

Black mobs routinely terrorize cities across the country, but the media and government are silent. Read the detailed account of rampant racial crime in “White Girl Bleed A Lot: The Return of Racial Violence to America and How the Media Ignore It.”

The first beat-down happened at the popular Big Four Bridge, a converted railroad trestle that is now a bike and pedestrian attraction at the recently redeveloped Louisville Waterfront Park area.

Amy Reid described what happened to her father, mother and children.

“These incidents actually started around 7 p.m. when these vicious little hoodlums attacked my 61-year-old father on the Big Four Bridge, in front of my mother and two small children, while they screamed for help and he pleaded for them to stop,” Reid posted in the comments section of the Louisville Courier-Journal. “Bystanders just stood and watched it happen, no one would help. Louisville Metro Police arrived and would not let them file a report and would not help them get off the bridge to their car safely! My girls are still traumatized and cannot understand why someone would want to hurt their grandpa.”

Reid’s family had to walk past their laughing attackers to return to their car.

Some of the violence took place in and around the parking lot of the Courier-Journal. The black mob vandalized several cars there. It is not clear if anyone was working at the Courier-Journal then, because the newspaper added few details of the violence to its initial reports.

Or if the editors knew, they did not say.

Former Louisville Police Detective Dale Rhodes has a hunch which it is. He took to Facebook to put the racial violence in perspective after the paper removed his initial comments. Black-on-white crime is a fact of life in Louisville, he says. As is its denial.

“Over a period of about five weeks (I think in the summer of 1990) there were at least 20 incidents where white people were assaulted by a gang of blacks numbering anywhere from 5 to 15,” Rhodes wrote. “Many of the victims were severely beaten, some left for dead and others left with life-long, career-ending injuries. All the incidents involved black-on-white crime, every single one. Yet we were ordered, if asked, to tell reporters and the media there was no evidence to indicate these crimes were racially motivated. I personally witnessed commanding officers being far less than truthful with the media regarding these incidents.”

Even a cursory check of Google reveals the black mob violence and black-on-white crime in Louisville never really stopped since then.
“The incidents to which I refer are just the tip of the iceberg,” said the former police officer.

Writing in the Louisville Examiner in 2011, Thomas McAdam exposed Louisville’s dirty little secret: “Sadly, this idyllic urban oasis is fast devolving into a target-rich environment for roving bands of thugs. … The dirty little secret that City Hall wants to hide from the public is the fact that Waterfront Park is not a very safe place for families, particularly after dark.”

McAdam went on to describe an incident where 200 black people beat a disabled person at a bus stop after a minor league baseball game. The man went to the hospital with a fractured skull.

“But just how dangerous is it down at Waterfront Park?” McAdam asks. We may never know because “city officials hide the dangers from the public.”

Today, however, there are too many victims, too many witnesses, too many videos and too many people who want answers for that to continue forever.

Even so, some in Louisville are determined to ignore the racial violence.

“Black mob violence trend,” snarked James Kemp at the Courier-Journal. “Fox News much?”

Others chirped in with accusations of racism for those who noticed the black-on-white crime.

But more and more people in Louisville are less and less willing to accept how newspapers, TV stations, police officials and liberal activists refuse to confront the reality of black mob violence and black-on-white crime.

“Notice our police chief will address this Monday – after the really important stuff like the NCAA tournament is over for the week,” said one Louisville resident and WND reader. “Make sure you read the comments with each article. Interesting, I think, how Louisville residents have a more realistic stance on what is happening.”

And that cannot come too soon for some.

“It’s happening,” said Morris Willis. “And if you deny it, ignore it or try to hide it, the end result will be violent retaliation by those who feel victimized or fear being victims.”

Black mobs routinely terrorize cities across the country, but the media and government are silent. Read the detailed account of rampant racial crime in “White Girl Bleed A Lot: The Return of Racial Violence to America and How the Media Ignore It.”

One drug to rule them all: Researchers find treatment that kills every kind of cancer tumor

http://nypost.com/2013/03/27/one-drug-to-rule-them-all-researchers-find-treatment-that-kills-every-kind-of-cancer-tumor/

Researchers might have found the Holy Grail in the war against cancer, a miracle drug that has killed every kind of cancer tumor it has come in contact with.

The drug works by blocking a protein called CD47 that is essentially a “do not eat” signal to the body’s immune system, according to Science Magazine.

This protein is produced in healthy blood cells but researchers at Stanford University found that cancer cells produced an inordinate amount of the protein thus tricking the immune system into not destroying the harmful cells.

With this observation in mind, the researchers built an antibody that blocked cancer’s CD47 so that the body’s immune system attacked the dangerous cells.

So far, researchers have used the antibody in mice with human breast, ovary, colon, bladder, brain, liver and prostate tumors transplanted into them. In each of the cases the antibody forced the mice’s immune system to kill the cancer cells.

“We showed that even after the tumor has taken hold, the antibody can either cure the tumor or slow its growth and prevent metastasis,” said biologist Irving Weissman of the Stanford University School of Medicine in Palo Alto, California.

One side effect of the treatment was that healthy cells were subjected to short-term attacks by the mice’s immune system, but the effect was nothing in comparison to the damage done to the cancer cells.

Weissman’s group recently received a $20 million dollar grant to move their research from mouse to human safety testing.

Why Do We Tolerate Lying Politicians Who Violate Their Oath Of Office?

freedomoutpost.com/2014/03/tolerate-lying-politicians-violate-oath-office/#ypQHWj6wE7kqtISC.99

Richard Anthony March 23, 2014

Every single politician who has ever held public office has lied at one time or another, but now lying, it seems, is a given. Laws against false campaign advertising raise other issues. “What sort of mechanism do you set up?” asked Brooks Jackson, director of Factcheck.org, a website that monitors the accuracy of politicians’ claims. “I don’t know how you pass a law making it a crime to utter a falsehood in a political debate without giving some government official the power to decide what’s false and what’s not.”

To the rest of us peons, when we tell a lie, there are usually severe consequences. For instance, if we tell a lie to our spouse, we can expect a problem with our relationship, or even the end of it. If we lie under oath in a court of law, we can expect to be charged, fined, or also imprisoned.

But what about politicians who look right in our eyes and lie to us? Why in God’s name do we not punish them? Why are they allowed to get away with it?

For instance – “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor, if you like your current insurance plan you can keep it”; that whopper came from the lips of our current president, not once, not twice, but several times. We have irrefutable evidence to that fact. What about Harry Reid? He lies almost every time he opens his mouth. And yet, NOTHING is done to punish him. Have we as a society and a people fallen so far that this is acceptable? If my son were to lie to me, there would be consequences and some form of punishment, as I’m sure most parents would agree with me when I make that statement.

We are taught from an early age not to lie. Political candidates are not held to the same standard, and the reason is simple: their statements and advertisements are considered “political speech,” which falls under the protection of the First Amendment. The noble idea undergirding what otherwise seems like a political loophole is the belief that voters have a right to uncensored information on which to base their decisions. Too often, however, the result is a system in which the most distorted information comes from the campaigns themselves.

But it’s not just that candidates are allowed to launch unfounded attacks against their opponents or make false claims about their own records. Broadcasters are actually obligated to run their ads, even those known to be false. Under the Federal Communications Act, a station can have a blanket policy of refusing all ads from all candidates, but they cannot single out and decline to air a particular commercial whose content they know to be a lie.

So is a “lie” protected under the 1st Amendment or not?

But what about a politician who violates their oath of office? Surely THAT is a crime….or IS it? Apparently, if you are the current president, it isn’t. And to be fair, I’m also talking about every single politician who is currently in office right now, Democrat AND Republican. So what can we do? Arrest every member of congress and charge them with violation of oath of office? That would be rather difficult.

Is Obama President, King, Dictator, or Tyrant?

President Obama is breaking all precedents in steamrolling a complacent Congress as he governs by executive orders. With Obama, we the people has been replaced by me the president.  In recent speeches, the president has been forthright in saying that in every case where he can act without Congress he will do so.  Not only is this an extraordinary statement coming from a man who is supposed to have been a professor of Constitutional law, it shows a dangerous disregard for government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

Ever since the U.S. Constitution was established as the law of the land, there has been tension—some would say power struggles—between the executive and legislative branches of government.  In fact, this tension is a necessary part of the checks and balances our Founders put in place to ensure that each branch of government plays its assigned role without encroaching on the prerogatives of the other branches.  If the president gains too much of the upper hand over Congress, the voice of the people is replaced by the voice of just one person: the president.  If Congress gains too much of the upper hand over the executive branch, we have government by committee, and nothing gets done.  Consequently, it is important to maintain the proper Constitutionally-prescribed balance between the executive and legislative branches of government.

Barack Obama knows this. He probably taught the concept when he was moonlighting as a professor of law.  But knowing about a concept and complying with it are two very different things.  In President Obama’s defense, working with Congress can be a frustrating experience.  Congress can be ponderous, self-protective, parochial, self-serving, and excruciatingly slow to act.  It is governance by committee with all of the shortcomings inherent in that concept.  President Obama is hardly the first person to be elected president only to find that his hands are often tied by an unresponsive Congress.  I am sure that many of his predecessors would have loved to simply by-pass Congress and—like him—govern by executive order.  But most had the good sense to understand that governing by executive order is one of those concepts where the solution is worse than the problem.

When the President of the United States by-passes Congress by issuing executive orders or by using the regulatory process—things Barack Obama does frequently—he undermines the concept of we the people that is the foundation of our form of government and of the freedoms Americans have traditionally enjoyed.  Congress, with all of its warts and blemishes, is still composed of the representatives of the people.  By-passing the elected representatives of the people is the same as by-passing the people.  Rulers who by-pass the people are dictators, kings, and often tyrants, but they are not presidents. Barack Obama was elected president, not dictator nor king, but by governing through executive orders and bureaucratic regulations, he is behaving like one or the other, or both.

One measure of an effective president is that he understands the governing process and is sufficiently adept politically that he can work with Congress to implement his programs and make good on his campaign promises.  Some presidents have had the political skills to accomplish this and some have not.  Barack Obama falls into the latter category, but where he differs from his predecessors is that he has made no effort to learn the way Congress and Washington, D. C. work.  Rather, if he cannot get what he wants when he wants it—regardless of whether the American people want it—he simply by-passes Congress using executive orders or bureaucratic regulations.  What makes this tyrannical situation especially dangerous is that at a time when our country has a president who thinks he is a king, we also have a weak, complacent Congress that lacks the fortitude to stand up to him.  As a result, government of the people, by the people, and for the people has been replaced by government of the president, by the president, and for the president.

Obama Has Made the World a More Dangerous Place

wimp

Once again President Obama has proven who the world leader is and who is the pansy in mom jeans.  Obama loves all the tough talk and rhetoric but he is really upset with Vladimir Putin for running Russia the way Obama would like to run the United States: as a dictator with a spine. Comparing Obama and Putin you get Pee Wee Herman on a bike (Obama) versus a strong, tough leader on a horse (Putin).  What happened to this president saying he was going to restore respect for the United States in the International community?  Instead we see another example of how the Obama apology tour failed to impress world leaders and was perceived as a sign of weakness and lack of leadership.  The ineptness of this president has caused the stature of the United States to slip further into the outhouse.  If Obama really wanted to get Putin’s attention he would threaten to leave Joe Biden and John Kerry in Moscow and sign Putin up for Obamacare.

For all the religious quoting of this administration and its talking heads they missed the Golden rule which states “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” This is sound advice to live by.  Instead they want to treat others their way and remain exempt from retribution.  Watching the Obama administration respond to receiving the same treatment that they have been giving the American people is entertaining.  The administration was upset with Putin forcing his will on the country of Ukraine, calling it “,,,unfair and not listening to the people.” That’s rich.  The very issues they are complaining about were just fine with them until the shoe was on the other foot.  Bullying, intimidation, spying, reckless spending, forcing their will on people instead of listening to them; these are all actions the administration has complained about recently but had no problem inflicting on the American people.  The only time they seem to take issue with bullying is when someone is doing it to them.

  • Senator Diane Feinstein is right to complain about the CIA spying on the Senate but she had no problem with the US government’s warrantless spying on the American people.
  • Lois Lerner had no problem stomping on the US Constitution as she used the IRS to go after the Obama administration’s perceived enemies, but was quick to hide behind her constitutional rights when going before Congress.
  • The administration is decrying Putin’s intimidation of opponents but had no problem with the IRS intimidating Americans.
  • The State Department is complaining about the ballot used in the election to see if Crimea should succeed from the Ukraine having no option for a No vote, but the administration saw no problem forcing Obamacare on the American people and sees no problem with the president using his “pen and phone” to force new rules and regulations on the American people without no vote.
  • The unilateral decision making regarding which laws to enforce and what new rules to impose has brought us closer to
    • the national legalization of pot,
    • the destruction of the traditional family,
    • and the moral decay of our military
    • as well as the destruction of morale among our troops.

About two years ago the DNC Chairperson called for The Republican National Committee Chair, Reince Priebus, to apologize for his remarks on Meet the Press, where he compared President Obama to the Italian cruise ship captain who abandoned his ship rather than stay with it and lead the people to safety after the tragic accident.  The Left felt his comments were insensitive, but I guess the truth hurts as today the comments seem prophetic.   The RNC Chair’s words were more accurate than even he realized as the President has effectively taken our world standing which was pretty sound, the economy that was ailing, our credit rating which was good, and our healthcare that needed some adjustments and scuttled it all by running it upon the rocks.  Sadly all the missteps have been fueled by his massive ego coupled with a complete lack of leadership ability.  To make matters worse, just like the captain who ran away after the incident, instead of leading by making some tough decisions Obama prefers to be on vacation, on the golf course, campaigning, or anywhere else instead of being in Washington where he can be held responsible for his incompetence.  What is important to Obama is golfing, fundraising, vacationing and watching movies instead being in the National Security briefs or doing his job. His slothfulness and desire for celebrity, while hosting multiple and White House parties, is overshadowed by his cries of “income inequality” while millions of Americans are still out of work.   Is it then a coincidence that Obama’s actions send the world financial markets down but Putin’s comments ignoring US sanctions settled the markets?

What is sure is that Obama has been successful in undoing 200+ years of world leadership and sending this nation into a downhill slide.  His celebrity life free of leadership, responsibility, with no international respect is filled with hollow threats for our adversaries, and has reignited the Cold War, making this world a much more dangerous place.

What Happened to Uncle Sam?

Her daily rants and fables also are available at her blog where she writes as a Granny Guerrilla to entertain and enlighten low-information voters, amuse patriots, and piss off progressives.

Once upon a time, in a country of good and hardworking people, everyone felt a kinship with Uncle Sam who represented a supportive, benevolent, and trustworthy government. No matter what the circumstances, We-the-People knew we could count on Uncle Sam who honored the Constitution, and always represented our best interests.

In those not-so-long ago days, America’s brave warriors had fought against tyranny and for freedom in Europe and Asia. We prospered with manageable taxes, smallish government, and opportunities galore to launch and expand business. Jobs and career opportunities were plentiful. Parents socked dollars away for retirement and college funds for their children. American students BDE (Before the Department of Education) consistently placed #1 in worldwide rankings of academic achievement.

We-the-People continued to trust Uncle Sam to protect our best interests and make correct decisions about when and where to send our brave warriors to help other countries fight for freedom on their soil.Uncle Sam

Does this sound like never-never land? It wasn’t. These were the “good old days,” before progressive liberals came into power.

This was America at a time when it seemed our best days stretched out into the future, toward an endless horizon of possibilities. Safe, secure and comfortable, We-the-People shifted into snooze control.

Zzzzzzz.

We failed to notice how our values, formerly shared with Uncle Sam, no longer were quite so shared.

We failed to notice the gradual erosion of adherence to our Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the Rule of Law.

We failed to notice destructive actions being taken by our elected representatives who:

  • Tossed aside campaign promises and supported policies that enhanced their personal wealth but diminished it for everybody else.

  • Broke into grandma and grandpa’s piggy banks and stole Social Security and Medicare dollars to redistribute to “favored” supporters.

  • Shifted allegiance to new “best” friends (special interest groups) who supported re-election campaigns to keep their bought-and-paid-for representatives in positions of power for happily ever after.

  • Turned our government into an uncontrolled debt machine.

  • Passed legislation that chip-chip-chipped away at our Judeo/Christian traditions.

  • Promoted involvement in foreign wars with no clear cut objective or end plan that squandered blood and treasure, and resulted in defeat and retreat.

  • Supported intervention of teachers’ unions and federal regulations that dumbed down our education system and trapped America’s children in government-controlled “flunk factories.”

How could this have happened?

While We-the-People were snoozing, Uncle Sam was shoved over a cliff and replaced by his evil twin, Uncle SCAM, the poster child for something gone terribly wrong in America.

He and his cohorts represent the most powerful, ruthless, and corrupt political machine seen in our recent history. Their goal? The fundamental transformation of our country, by hook or by crook (mostly the later).uncle sam

Those who comprise Uncle SCAMs corrupt core occupy our White House and include Chicago socialist liberals, left-wing, current-and-former congress people, community organizers, Ivy League endowment babies, heads of powerful commissions and congressional committees, bureau chiefs, lobbyists, advisors, bankers, socialists, labor union thugs, and a communist or two: all of whom hate unlimited freedom for anyone but themselves.

Their agenda involves control over everything from freedom of speech to education to healthcare. They rub their greedy hands together in glee with “Mawwaaaahahaha” (evil laugh), as they snatch power and become more entrenched as the “political elites.”

America’s president and his misses are perfect examples of this privileged class. The “first couple” enjoy luxurious, taxpayer-funded vacations for themselves and friends in Hawaii, Spain, Africa, Ireland, China, Mexico, etc. They throw lavish parties for celebrity pals and foul-mouth rappers, but lock the doors of our White House to keep out We-the-Riffraff. (The reason for the lockout? Budgetary concerns. Really? The cost to keep the White House open for one year is $2 million dollars: less than the cost of a typical Obama family-and-friends vacation.)

You gotta’ hand it to Uncle SCAM. His minions have been quite successful in achievement of fundamental transformation. Their programs of redistribution of wealth, esteem-based education, free food, free cell phones, free contraceptives, free abortions, politically correct speech, promotion of class, race, and gender warfare, and penalties for success drag America down to the lowest common denominator.

Their shining accomplishment is almost complete. We-the-people have been duped.

Complete Message

We’ve lost our doctors and healthcare we could afford. Our 1st Amendment to freedom of religion is being destroyed. Sad to say, Uncle SCAM’s promised solution to fix America’s economic and healthcare woes is doing just the opposite (which was the plan all along). We’ve become a nation of part-time workers, have suffered massive job loss, and millions of families have become enslaved to Uncle Scam’s handouts of welfare and food stamps. But wait, it gets worse, much worse.

The final blow is on the way . . . discover the meaning of worse in “Uncle SCAM, Part II.”

Joe Biden jokes that he would nominate Obama for ‘sainthood’

http://washingtonexaminer.com/article/2546050

By Meghashyam Mali | MARCH 21, 2014 AT 12:08 PM

Vice President Joe Biden in a speech Friday joked that he should have nominated President Obama for “sainthood” after seeing his patience during the rocky rollout of the health law’s new insurance exchanges.

In an address to the National Association of Community Health Centers policy summit in Washington, D.C., Biden told the health care workers in attendance that “we didn’t help you much at the front end,” acknowledging the problems that plagued the healthcare.gov launch.

Complete Message

“My boss, my friend Barack Obama, is an incredibly patient man,” Biden continued. “I suggested, after going through the first couple weeks, I would nominate him for sainthood … that he kept his patience.”

In his remarks, Biden encouraged the audience to do what they could to help bolster enrollment in state and federal exchanges with under two weeks left before the end of the open enrollment period.

The administration says enrollment has passed 5 million through February, but initial targets aimed for 7 million enrollees. The numbers are also short of the 40 percent initial target for young consumers, who are needed to help keep costs down.

“You know, it got off to a slow start,” said Biden. “The president and I were as frustrated as anyone.”

“But it’s basically fixed,” he added

Could the U.S. Face a Cruise Missile Threat from the Gulf of Mexico?

The United States is puzzling over how to block cruise missiles that theoretically could be launched from the Gulf of Mexico, even after throwing some of its most advanced technologies at the problem.

Russia and Iran have been cited as possible threats that might, at some point, lurk in the waters just off U.S. shores.

A 2013 military exercise pitted systems such as Patriot interceptors, Aegis warships and combat aircraft against potential cruise-missile or short-range ballistic missiles fired from the Gulf. But the drill highlighted a particular vulnerability to cruise missiles lobbed from that region, U.S. Northern Command head Gen. Charles Jacoby indicated in congressional testimony last week.

He said the Pentagon has “some significant challenges” in countering these missiles, but is exploring “some opportunities to use existing systems more effectively to do that.” Many detailed results of the Oct. 11 drill conducted near Key West, Fla., remain classified, Jacoby said.

“The cruise-missile threat portion of that we are working on very hard,” the general added at the March 13 Senate Armed Service Committee hearing, in response to a question from Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

The military leader — whose command focuses on defense of the U.S. homeland — referenced an initiative to quickly mobilize assets against such threats in a configuration called the Joint Deployable Integrated Air and Missile Defense system.

The effort is housed within the Pentagon’s Joint Test and Evaluation program, which aims to address “operational deficiencies” in military preparedness, according to information released by the Pentagon.

“The idea is to cobble together enough stuff [so] that maybe something will work. But none of these systems were designed for cruise-missile defense,” Kingston Reif, an analyst with the Center for Arms Control and Nonproliferation, said in an e-mail.

Cruise missiles can be particularly challenging to defend against, as they can be more difficult than aircraft to detect on radar and are sometimes tricky to shoot down, according to military experts.

A 2013 U.S. military intelligence report forecasted that cruise missiles would spread into more hands over the coming decade. The document also hints at the ability to evade defenses designed against ballistic missiles.

“Cruise missiles can fly at low altitudes to stay below enemy radar and, in some cases, hide behind terrain features. Newer missiles are incorporating stealth features to make them even less visible to radars and infrared detectors,” says the 2013 assessment by the National Air and Space Intelligence Center.

Cruz’s office did not respond to requests to discuss his specific concerns about potential attack risks facing the United States from the Gulf of Mexico. His comments came, though, in the wake of some other public discussion of possible threats of this kind.

Iran last month announced it intended to deploy warships near the U.S. maritime border, prompting heightened discussion of the Middle Eastern nation’s growing military capabilities.

At last week’s hearing, Jacoby also spoke to Moscow’s cruise-missile capabilities.

Responding to a question from Senator Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), the Northern Command leader said the United States has been “tracking for a number of years Russia’s continued investment in improved cruise missile technology.”

The Kremlin has armed its bomber aircraft with cruise missiles for decades, he noted.

“They also are capable of introducing cruise missiles into a theater from submarines,” said Jacoby, without elaborating on the specific regions to which these vessels could deploy. “They’ve just begun production of a new class of quiet nuclear submarines specifically designed to deliver cruise missiles.”

One 2012 news article quotes U.S. government insiders asserting that a Russian submarine equipped with cruise missiles had evaded detection for weeks in the Gulf of Mexico. However, the Defense Department denied the contentions described in the Washington Free Beacon report.

The fiscal 2014 defense authorization bill, enacted in December, mandates a U.S. defense focus on “ballistic missiles that could be launched from vessels on the seas around the United States, including the Gulf of Mexico.”

Jacoby said the increased focus on cruise-missile defense took shape well over a year ago, at the direction of then-Defense Secretary Leon Panetta.

Good Samaritan rescues mom, newborn from deranged man

‘In the name of Jesus, you will not touch this woman’

Surveillance video reveals the heroic actions of a Good Samaritan who came to the aid of a young mother and newborn infant being harassed by a menacing stranger on a commuter train in Philadelphia, Pa.

“She moves from her seat and he follows her, he then swats at the baby,” SEPTA Police Chief Thomas Nestel told WTXF-TV. “It looks as if he’s trying to get control of that child.”

That’s when evangelical minister and fellow passenger Tameka Bates stepped up to escort the woman and her week-old baby girl away, while at the same time physically blocking the man’s advances.

“I said, ‘Satan, the Lord God, rebuke you in the name of Jesus you will not touch this woman,’” Bates told the TV station.

Tameka Bates thwarts attack by violent man on SEPTA train in Philadelphia, Pa.

At one point, the chief says, the deranged man grabbed for the baby, but Bates managed to lead the crying woman off the train.

“I said, ‘Miss, just stay with me and I’ll protect you. I have you covered. Don’t worry,’” said Bates.

“She should be playing for Villanova or St. Joe’s during the tournament because she boxed this guy out better than any forward I’ve seen on any team,” Nestel added. “This was just phenomenal, phenomenal behavior on the part of somebody who doesn’t even know another person getting in and making sure they were safe.”

Moments later, Steven Mason, 47, exploded in violence and attacked a SEPTA police officer.

Mason is now behind bars charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and disarming a police officer.

Police say he was high on drugs at the time of the attack.

Love is SEEN by What it DOES

The Approval Process: Act Out
Today’s Devotional by Dr. David Jeremiah
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2)
“Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, for each one should carry his own load.’
“Anyone who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor. ‘
“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” (Gal 6:1-10; NIV)
Last October two puppies, brothers Jeffrey and Jermaine, were found wandering the streets of Philadelphia. Though both dogs were frightened and sick, Jeffrey had the greater challenge—he was blind. Determined to care for his brother, Jermaine literally became a guide dog. He constantly stayed within touching distance of his disabled brother, and Jeffrey leaned on Jermaine for support. Without any training, Jermaine became a guide dog. The puppies were always seen touching each other and even slept holding each other. Their story melted the hearts of Philadelphians, and the brothers had no trouble finding a home.
If animals can be that devoted to each other, shouldn’t we be the same? Galatians 6 tells us, as we have opportunity, to bear the burdens of others, especially to those who are of the household of faith. We can affirm, appreciate, and approve of others by the way we treat them. We can bear their burdens. Love is worthless unless it acts out, unless it’s expressed in deed and behavior.
That’s not just puppy love; it’s agape love.
“Love is seen in what it does.”

Jihadists Arrested in North Carolina on Terrorism Charges – Planned to Travel to Syria and Yemen to Fight for Islam

It could not have escaped your notice that I am reporting news stories of Muslims in America waging jihad, plotting to wage jihad, funding jihad, recruiting for jihad on a daily basis. So I can’t help but shake my head when media, academic and cultural elites smear me for opposing such sedition and violence.  That, as much as anything, is a clear indication of the success of the stealth jihad. Islamic supremacists and their well-paid lapdog apologists have made defense of freedom the work of “bigots” “racists” and “Islamaphobes.”

“Akbar Jihad Jordan slept on his kitchen floor with an AK-47 and a Quran.”

These devout converts read the Quran and joined the millions Muslims waging jihad. Once again, we see converts “misunderstanding” Islam in the exact same way as millions of Muslims understand Islam.

Taking their cues from Hamas-CAIR, the pair planned to use a charity as a cover for their travels. The FBI recovered a cache of weapons in the arrest of planned to travel to Syria and Yemen to fight for Islam.

They would have been fighting with blood-soaked Obama-backed jihadists. Perhaps one day soon we’ll see Eric Holder step in because the religious rights of these jihadists are being violated.

“Wake terrorism investigation built over weeks,” from WRAL.com, March 20 *thanks to Robert Spencer)

Raleigh, N.C. — Planes linked to a company with FBI connections circled a north Raleigh neighborhood for weeks before a Wednesday raid that resulted in terrorism charges against two men.

Authorities said in court documents that Akbar Jihad Jordan and Avin Marsalis Brown planned to travel to Syria and Yemen to fight for Islam. Federal law prohibits conspiring to kill or maim people outside the U.S.

FBI agents seized several weapons, including an AK-47 rifle and a sword, along with ammunition from the apartment off Gresham Lake Road that Jordan, 21, shared with his mother.

Airplanes equipped with electronic monitoring equipment have been circling the area where Jordan lives for about a month, flying the same path for up to eight hours a day.

WRAL Investigates tracked the planes’ registrations to a company known to have ties to the FBI. Airplanes belonging to the company and its known affiliates were also spotted in Boston in the days following the marathon bombing last April.

Radar records for every plane connected to or owned by the companies with FBI connections were searched, and two clearly showed a circular flight path. It’s unclear whether those flights are connected to ongoing investigations.

FBI agents moved on the alleged conspiracy involving Jordan and Brown this week because Brown, 21, was about to leave the country, court records show.

Brown was arrested Wednesday at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, and he told investigators that he planned to fly to Turkey and then travel to Syria, according to court records. He made his first court appearance Thursday morning.

One person was taken into custody during the north Raleigh raid, but it’s unclear whether it was Jordan.

A motion filed in federal court noted that Jordan, who is listed as Akba Jordan, is in a hospital, but it’s unclear what he’s being treated for and which hospital is treating him.

Confidential informants told the FBI that Brown and Jordan, a 2011 Millbrook High School graduate, began talking last May about going overseas to engage in jihad. Jordan “functioned as a type of physical fitness, firearms and tactics instructor to Brown” and often displayed a cache of weapons and ammunition in his apartment, records state.

Jordan even stated at one point that he slept on his kitchen floor with an AK-47 and a Quran to empathize with Muslims in Syria.

The pair planned to use a charity as a cover for their travels, saying the government would have a hard time making a terrorism case against them if they argued they were on a charitable mission overseas, according to court records.

WRAL Investigates discovered that Jordan visited at least two Facebook pages about humanitarian work in Syria, asking how difficult it would be to travel there.

The case is similar to that of Basit Javed Sheikh, a Cary man accused of planning to fight in Syria for a group linked to al-Qaida. The FBI arrested him at RDU in November after he told people he wanted to be a martyr for Islam.

Boy-On-Boy Third Grade Sexual Assault Case Rocks California Elementary School

http://freedomoutpost.com/2014/03/boy-on-boy-third-grade-sexual-assault-case-rocks-california-elementary-school/#8scoUqTxGfCS6fdk.99

In Riverside, California, the worst possible horror has come to pass. A confirmed boy-on-boy third grade sexual assault incident has occurred, and two teachers have been placed on leave for the atrocity. How could this have happened? Two boys, barely nine years old involved in a sexual assault case is a nightmare scenario, but more than this, it is indicative of cultural depravity that cannot be adequately put into words. To begin to fathom such acts is to come to the realization that American culture is not just in a free fall, but experiencing complete death. Sex at this age is taboo, but sexual assault is unthinkable. But boy-on-boy, third grade sexual assault, with one student abusing another is uncharted territory. The rotten fruit of the progressive agenda has come to fruition in Riverside, California

What kind of evil is at hand in a third grade sexual assault? Truly it is otherworldly, something Satanic. Nothing could adequately prepare the psyche for fathoming how something so horrible could happen and no adults realize it or report it.

Two teachers at a Riverside elementary school have been placed on leave amid allegations that a third-grade boy sexually assaulted another boy repeatedly since last year.

News of the action came as parents attended a meeting Thursday night at John Adams Elementary School seeking answers from district administrators.

image9This abuse went on repeatedly for over a year. The idea that a second grader had the know how and desire to sexually abuse another student of the same sex, continually, should send shock waves through every school and home in this country. Rapists and sexual perverts are being bred, groomed, and programmed. How are they being programmed? The homosexual agenda and a culture that propagates sex at every turn is responsible; selling it and proselytizing it as “good.”

For something of that nature to happen in that classroom; some super severe negligence,” parent Joseph Paredes said.

The alleged abuse occurred over the course of months, dating back to when the two students were in second grade, according to the Riverside Unified School District. “One boy allegedly coerced another boy to perform sex acts,” RUSD spokesperson Jacquie Paul said.

The alleged abuse took place five to seven times and began when the Adams Elementary School students were in second grade, said Jacquie Paul, spokeswoman for the Riverside Unified School District.

One boy coerced another boy into performing sex acts on him. How did a teacher not notice this? Signs of abuse, especially after multiple times, would surely be visible. But, placing blame on a teacher is easier than acknowledging the truth about a godless, depraved culture that deliberately shuns the light and embraces hedonism. There is every chance the young boy had watched multiple sex acts performed on television and emulated them. Homosexual sex acts are visible everywhere and portrayed as normal. Shock no longer is applicable, just grief that violence and sex have become a staple in children’s lives.

As soon as staff was made aware, the school contacted the Riverside Police Department, who in turn contacted Child Protective Services to investigate,” the letter stated.

Disciplinary action was taken against the student accused of committing the assault, the letter stated.

Officials at the school found out about the abuse Monday evening when students at an after-school program told a staff member that “they wanted to report something they knew,” Paul said.

The two students involved in the incidents were also in the after-school program and were interviewed by the principal that evening.

The initial investigation indicates that the incidents occurred in a bathroom and a classroom,” Paul said at the meeting.

This happened in an after school program, right under the noses of multiple people. The sexual abuse took place in a bathroom and classroom, and no one reported anything for over a year. How can one punish a nine year old for sexual assault properly? Adults, guilty of sexually abusing children, find themselves targets of other inmates in prison. But this is boy-on-boy, two children engaging in abusive sex acts.

A society that has willingly and without hesitation forced God out of its institutions should not be surprised when children engage in deplorable, revolting acts. America’s embracing of homosexuality, promiscuity, and all forms of hedonism have led to this moment of truth. Third grade sexual assault proves that this rejection has far reaching impacts, some never considered. What have we done? A society that reject rules and God’s law and embraces violence will reap what it sows. The end leads only to death.

ObamaCare: America’s Kidney Stone

http://clashdaily.com/2014/03/obamacare-americas-kidney-stone/#9mgmPUFSCEXeQUTj.99

kidney

The connection between the Affordable Care Act and a kidney stone first came to me when Nancy Pelosi, using her best On Golden Pond voice, famously stammered, “We have to pass it to see what’s in it.” While her words replayed on occasion in my recesses somewhere between the cerebellum and the ureter, the analogy didn’t fully dawn on me until I got my projected ACA compliant rates for 2015.

Apparently, by the time I amass all of the coverage this unread 2,000+ page mystery novel mandates, my monthly premiums will increase from $345 a month to $815. So rather than the $2,500 per year savings touted by the President, and despite the MSM’s never ending attempt to revise the numbers and convince us that the law will help, not hurt, my real increase will be over 130%. Not to worry though, my deductibles will only double.

This forever calcified my connection between the ACA and kidney stones: it will now burn when I pay!

Of course as details of this reality continue to emerge for people across the country, stories like mine have been sloughed off as “poppycock” by people like Sen. Harry Reid, a man who clearly has a vivid grasp on fantasies and imagination. I can’t begin to think what his safe word must be.

Sorry Senator, this is all very real to some of us. More real than even the clammy-handed milquetoast who plays your counterpart on House of Cards.

There are a variety of thoughts as to what is but here’s what I think:

The stark reality of adding more sick people of all ages added into the actuarial tables affects rates for everyone. Sure it’s the “right” thing to do, but it makes the increase in costs inevitable. While railing against the man over a cup of free-trade green tea latte, hipsters are quick to relegate this rise in costs to corporate greed.  However, no matter how shaggy your beard is or how many pairs of Clark Kent glasses you own, covering more doctor bills means paying more money.  Math is still math…or at least it will be for a little bit longer.

Also, individuals and families are being forced to pay for programs or coverage they don’t need. Via the ACA the administration has deemed that health insurance policies which don’t have things like birth control and pregnancy coverage are “sub-standard” and “junk.” I for one would like the government to leave my junk alone, as I previously dealt with my own prospective pregnancy concerns over a decade ago: one afternoon of pain, followed by a weekend of frozen peas and martinis. Now, as someone who more closely resembles a Florida orange (full of juice but totally seedless), I resent being forced to pay more for something I don’t need.

What’s the takeaway? First, if your rates haven’t gone up or your policy hasn’t been canceled, they will be. Mandates and delays aside, your day on the chopping block is coming. And if you have already been affected and left between a stone and hard website, tell your story loud and often.  Do your best to influence anyone who will listen.

If we provide so many voices that we can’t all be silenced maybe we can make the upcoming mid-term elections the cranberry juice needed to flush this law once and for all.

Yo, Christians: How Great Is that God of Yours?

http://clashdaily.com/2014/03/yo-christians-great-god/#CWSZys6uR6TRu2HZ.99

great

Can you really blame religious skeptics, here in the West,  for their doubts?  Don’t Christians have to wear some of the blame? Have we really been doing a great job of that whole “ambassadors of Christ” thing? They don’t think God is great (no surprise) — but do we? Truly?

Militant Islam deserves most of the criticism heaped on it.  Even so, one thing is certain.  Right or wrong, they believe their god really is “Great”. Isn’t that the last phrase on their zealots’ lips: “allahu akbar”? They are saying their god isn’t merely great, but “greater”.  Greater than other religions and greater than no religion at all.

You see the same thing with militant atheism  – mouthpieces explicitly denouncing the goodness of God. They sell books, set up billboards, create campus groups, troll the internet, loudly proclaiming what it is they (don’t) believe.

Are the “New Atheists” timid, and afraid to offend? Do they try to duck behind subjectivism and relative truth claims (ok, sometimes they might do that last one), but they are convinced their position is true.

They’re not bothered that it’s logically impossible to prove a universal negative. Or that they “might” be wrong. For them, being personally convinced they are right is enough. As with Islam, this confidence of their “rightness” leads to boldness. (This can also lead to less desirable things, but that’s a separate matter.)

What about Christians? If we claim to be Christians, we are declaring the truth of certain things. We are declaring the divinity of Jesus Christ, and that He is True and Good.

Being Christian is not about adopting the moral philosophy of one god among many. It is a declaration that God is, and that he alone is God. You can come to him as friend or foe, but there are no other options. With that as a starting point, other non-negotiable truths follow naturally.

But do skeptics believe it? No — why would they?

Scripture tells us that on account of (believers) the name of God is blasphemed among the gentiles. (In today’s context, you could say blasphemed among non-believers.)

If God’s own children don’t live as though he is great, should anyone else think he is? If your friend was a chef, but refused to eat food from his restaurant, would you trust it?

Isn’t that what’s happening today?

If you accidentally turned on “christian” television, you’d find hucksters promising that Christ will grant you a more comfortable life.  Your health will improve, you’ll have more money, a better job, happier marriage, kids that listen — the whole shebang.

Is that why Christ came?

Did he come to feed your ego, and sense of entitlement? Did he bleed and die so you could watch the game on a 110” flat-screen, with a house full of Precious Moments figurines? No!

Bottom line: some of you don’t believe God is Great because you only want him to be your cosmic butler. Being Christ’s disciple isn’t about me-monkeys chasing blessings.

There’s another way to take Him for granted, in Jesus’ day they were Sadducees.  Today, they’re liberal theologians.

These are the “reasonable” men and women who don’t actually believe their faith.  They might reduce Christ to the level of Buddha, or the Dali Lama, or Oprah. Has some good things to say, you know, but you can’t take these things too seriously.

Like miracles, for instance.  You can’t say the man Jesus was actually God, can you? They have … issues … with statements that claim exclusive truth. Because that calls all counter-claims wrong, and even rebellion against the truth. How obscene! Often they don’t even believe in sin. Or that Christ went to the cross as a propitiation for our sins. Or even that a righteous God can have any problem with our sin. Don’t even mention Hell or the afterlife. No, the Bible, to them is just a useful book telling us all how to get along while we live here on terra firma. Or so they might think.

Really, that’s more pathetic than the atheists. Atheists and these guys both believe the same thing, but at least atheists have the courage of their convictions to turn their backs on God.  The other guys want his institutions, but not Him.

Don’t look to either of these groups for encouragement, they have none to offer.

Instead, hear what real men said about this God:

…waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ

Apostle Paul

For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God

Moses

Therefore you are great, O Lord God. For there is none like you, and there is no God besides you

David

How great are his signs,
how mighty his wonders!
His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and his dominion endures from generation to generation.

– King Nebuchadnezzar

The common denominator: these great men were convinced of the greatness of God.  And being convinced of that changed who they were as people — as it must.

If you are suffering from a diminished view of God, go back to the source. Spend time with Him, marvel at his greatness.

Then, like Daniel, we’ll be able to say “the people who know their God will stand firm, and take action.” (Daniel 11:32) And that’s way better than whatever it is we’ve been doing lately.

A Victory for Free Speech: Atheist Turned Christian Professor Wins Lawsuit Against University

http://www.tpnn.com/2014/03/21/a-victory-for-free-speech-atheist-turned-christian-professor-wins-lawsuit-against-university/

March 21, 2014 By Jennifer Burke

Mike-Adams-UNCW
Conservative professor wins lawsuit against his university that can only be described as a win for the First Amendment. Mike Adams began his career as a professor at the University of North Carolina – Wilmington in 1993. Adams was, at the time, an avowed atheist. University official recognized his work as he won numerous awards and received accolades.

Things changed when, in 2000, Adams converted from atheism to Christianity. He became an outspoken Christian conservative and began writing a column for Townhall.com in 2003. After this conversion, Adams began to experience extreme animosity towards him on the campus, which included baseless accusations and an attack on his once heralded work. He also found his career threatened as he was denied full professorship, despite his awards and recognition from the university. The Campus Fix reported on Adams’ experience.

“After this, he was subjected to intrusive investigations, baseless accusations, and the denial of promotion to full professor even though his scholarly output surpassed that of almost all of his colleagues,” according to the professor’s attorney, who assert the university “denied Adams a promotion because his nationally syndicated opinion columns espoused religious and political views that ran contrary to the opinions held by university officials.”

Adams’ radical conversion had been noted by many of his colleagues. The lawsuit contends his views began to “cause tension across campus,” so much so that his interim department chair “suggested that Adams alter his ‘tone’ to sound less ‘caustic.’”

Adams sued the university citing First Amendment violations centered on his conversion from an atheist Democrat to a Christian Conservative. Star News Online reports that Adams won his lawsuit against the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

“I’m just really thrilled that the jury ruled in our favor,” he said. “I’m pleased and honored.”

In his lawsuit, Adams claimed he was denied promotion because of his religious views. Adams is a Christian and has written columns and books and appeared on radio and television programs to talk about his views. He also claimed he was retaliated against by the university when he spoke about his views by not receiving a promotion, saying that violated his First Amendment right to free speech, and that he was denied equal protection under the Fourteenth Amendment.

A federal district court ruled in favor of UNCW in 2010, saying that since Adams included his columns and books as part of his application for promotion, they were part of his duties as a university professor and were not protected under the First Amendment. A federal appeals court overturned that ruling in 2011, and the jury upheld that Thursday.

The university is expected to appeal the jury’s decision.

Putin’s quiet Latin America play

http://thehill.com/blogs/defcon-hill/policy-strategy/201305-putins-quiet-play-for-latin-america

By Kristina Wong

Away from the conflict in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin is quietly seeking a foothold in Latin America, military officials warn.

To the alarm of lawmakers and Pentagon officials, Putin has begun sending navy ships and long-range bombers to the region for the first time in years.

Russia’s defense minister says the country is planning bases in Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua, and just last week, Putin’s national security team met to discuss increasing military ties in the region.

“They’re on the march,” Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.) said at a Senate hearing earlier this month. “They’re working the scenes where we can’t work. And they’re doing a pretty good job.”

Gen. James Kelly, commander of U.S. Southern Command said there has been a “noticeable uptick in Russian power projection and security force personnel” in Latin America.

“It has been over three decades since we last saw this type of high-profile Russian military presence,” Kelly said at the March 13 hearing.

The U.S. military says it has been forced to cut back on its engagement with military and government officials in Latin America due to budget cuts. Kelly said the U.S. military had to cancel more than 200 effective engagement activities and multi-lateral exercises in Latin America last year.

With the American presence waning, officials say rivals such as Russia, China and Iran are quickly filling the void.

Iran has opened up 11 additional embassies and 33 cultural centers in Latin America while supporting the “operational presence” of militant group Lebanese Hezbollah in the region.

“On the military side, I believe they’re establishing, if you will, lily pads for future use if they needed to use them,” Kelly said.

China is making a play for Latin America a well, and is now the fastest growing investor in the region, according to experts. Although their activity is mostly economic, they are also increasing military activity through educational exchanges.

The Chinese Navy conducted a goodwill visit in Brazil, Chile and Argentina last year and conducted its first-ever naval exercise with the Argentine Navy.

Meanwhile, the U.S. had to cancel the deployment of its hospital ship USNS Comfort last year.

“Our relationships, our leadership, and our influence in the Western Hemisphere are paying the price,” Kelly said.

Some experts warn against being too alarmist, and say Russia, China and Iran do not have the ability or desire to project military power beyond their borders.

Army War College adjunct professor Gabriel Marcella said Russia’s maneuvering is more about posturing than a real threat.

“Latin America is seen as an opportunity to challenge the United States in terms of global presence,” he said. “They want to show the flag to assert their presence and say they need to be counted on the world stage.”

Other experts said the encroachment of rivals has huge economic implications for the U.S., which has more trade partners in Latin America than in any other region in the world.

“[Russia’s presence] serves to destabilize what has become a more stabilized, middle class continent with an increasing respect for the rule of law. … Any type of unsettling of that environment will scare off investors,” said Jason Marczak, deputy director at the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center.

“Market economies and democracies are fundamental for trade, for jobs, and for stable investment environments,” he said.

Marczak noted the instability in Venezuela, which is facing civil unrest from anti-government protestors.

“In Venezuela, a lot of the money that’s been able to prop up President Chavez and now Maduro has been Chinese money,” Kelly said.

So far, 31 protestors have been killed in clashes with government security forces.

“I see a real degradation in what used to pass as Venezuelan democracy. There’s less and less of that now,” Kelly said.

And while Chinese investment in Latin America could have positive aspects for the region, it could also make it more difficult for U.S. official to push labor and environmental safeguards that it argues are building blocks for democracy, Marczak said.

Angel Rabasa, a senior political scientist at RAND, said cuts to the defense budget are going to accelerate a long trend of U.S. neglect and disengagement with Latin America.

According to Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), there are 10 countries in Latin America that currently have no U.S. ambassador because they either haven’t been nominated yet or confirmed, a sign that the region is seen as a low priority.

“We will be losing the ability to influence developments in a region that is very important to us because of proximity,” Rabasa said.

Obama Hijacks Symbol of Liberty and Independence to Sell Tyranny

http://www.tpnn.com/2014/03/20/obama-hijacks-symbol-of-liberty-and-independence-to-sell-tyranny/

March 20, 2014 By Jennifer Burke

Obama-Hijacks-Gadsden-Flag
Obamacare, or as it is officially known the unaffordable “Affordable Care Act”, is a government takeover of 1/6 of America’s economy. It was passed along party lines with 100% of the votes coming from Democrats. It is the first time that the federal government is forcing its citizens to purchase a product or face a penalty. It has resulted in millions losing their insurance coverage and millions more experiencing a massive increase in premiums and/or deductibles. It was sold to the public based upon lies from Barack Obama himself including “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. Period.” And “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan. Period.” These lies were told even though the president knew they weren’t true.

Obama has been desperately pushing for enrollment in his signature legislation as he falls massively short of his 7 million-target number. In an effort to bolster enrollment numbers, his administration has even counted as enrollees individuals who created an account, but never formalized a transaction. In addition, there are also stories from people around the country who thought they had coverage, only to find out when they needed it that their enrollment was nowhere in anyone’s system. This series of unfortunate events were magnified when the story was revealed about a man in Las Vegas who is facing $407,000 in medical bills due to no coverage, even though he has paid his Obamacare premium since December.

Despite the reality of Obamacare, especially it being government imposed tyranny with a fine, or tax, on the people for non-compliance, Barack Obama has decided to attempt to hijack the symbol used in the fight for liberty and independence, dating back to when Christopher Gadsden designed It during the American Revolution, to push his massive government intrusion into the lives of every American. Of course, who else would help push such propaganda than Nancy Pelosi’s daughter.

Sweden Leads the Way in Dumping Socialism

4.0.1

Perhaps President Obama and liberals in Congress should pay better attention to what is happening in Europe.  Interesting things are happening in Sweden, things that have a direct bearing on the direction Obama and his minions have set for the United States. Following World War II, Western European countries set themselves on the path of socialism.  By the 1960s, they had arrived.  Western Europe quickly recovered from World War II, but not because of socialism.  France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the other war-ravaged countries of Western Europe were able to quickly recover from World War II because of the foresight and generosity of the United States in implementing the Marshall Plan.  In other words, the shattered nations of Western Europe accepted $billions from a free-market nation that, at the time, steadfastly rejected socialism.  These countries then used the money to transform themselves into bastions of socialism.  And so things have remained since the 1960s.  However, change is in the air.

Sweden has become the first of the Western European nations to take a major step away from socialism. According to the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA), “Sweden spent years as a statist economy, with marginal tax rates above 90 percent.  With nationalized healthcare and welfare programs, Sweden had a budget deficit worth 13 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) in 1993 and a government debt at 71 percent of its national output.”  These deficit and debt levels should sound familiar to anyone paying attention to what has happened to America’s economy over the last several decades and particularly during the first six years of the Obama administration.

In the 1990s Swedes began to realize what socialism and statism were doing to the quality of life in their country.  As a result, they elected Sweden’s first conservative government since the end of World War II.  Knowing precisely what needed to be done to pull their nation back from the abyss of economic ruin, Sweden’s new conservative government quickly went to work cutting taxes on businesses and individuals.  Things began to change for the better almost immediately.  Consider the following improvements Sweden has enjoyed since beginning the long, hard road back from socialism and statism (data provided by the NCPA):

  • Between 1993 and 2010, Sweden’s GDP growth exceeded that of the rest of Europe by one full percentage point.  Further, by 2010 public debt had dropped to 37 percent of GDP and taxes on businesses had been decreased to 22 percent (compare this with the 36 percent rate in the United States).
  • Sweden’s political leaders transformed the nation’s retirement pension system from a defined-benefit system into a defined contribution system, thereby saving it from inevitable insolvency.
  • The Swedish Fiscal Policy Council was established and empowered to independently monitor and evaluate government fiscal policy.  The Council’s most current recommendation is that Sweden raise its retirement age to protect the long-term solvency of the nation’s retirement system.

These and other free-market initiatives have resulted in an upturn in entrepreneurship in Sweden.  For example, Skype (the VolP service) and Spotify (the music streaming program) both got their starts in Sweden.  Saab, best known as an automaker, is also excelling in the aerospace and aviation industries.  In fact, according to the NCPA Saab has beaten out Boeing for aviation contracts in the past several years.  In a move that should be watched closely by America’s airlines, automakers, and other unionized industries, SAS—the Scandinavian airline—finally posted a profit after six straight years of losses by negotiating with its union to cut pay and retirement benefits.  The rationale of SAS executives in asking for the cuts and the rationale of union leaders in accepting them was simple:  It is better to get a little less than you want than to get nothing when the airline goes bankrupt.

Sweden has not yet weaned itself completely from socialism, but it has made excellent progress.  Socio-economic change is difficult in a democracy.  It typically happens in fits and starts, but as Sweden has shown, it can happen.  What Sweden began in the 1990s is what America will need to begin in 2016.  But, as it did in Sweden, this will require electing a conservative government.  Let us hope and pray that the American electorate will show the good sense shown by its counterpart in Sweden.

Amid Rising Racial Tension, Principal Fired for Requiring Students to Speak English

http://lastresistance.com/5115/amid-rising-racial-tension-principal-fired-requiring-students-speak-english/#8leQjY6XEiJ4TU4Q.99

Posted By on Mar 20, 2014

bilingual sign
Back in December, in Hempstead, Texas, at the heavily Hispanic-populated Hempstead Middle School, Principal Amy Lacey grew what is referred to in casual circles as “a pair” and announced over the intercom that all students were thenceforth to abstain from speaking Spanish in the classrooms, thus discriminating her way into my heart.

Some students complained that Spanish is their first language, as if that had any relevance at all. If they can complain in English, which they did, then they can certainly speak in English. The Hispanic students and the white social-justice activists on the Internet called it racist. Was it? Maybe. But try telling these people that the schools in France ought not to be French-speaking, that the schools in Mexico ought not to be Spanish-speaking, and that the schools in Japan ought not to be anime-speaking, and see how different a reaction you’ll get.

In classic leftist fashion, an actual investigation was launched into the matter and the principal was booted out of the school on paid suspension until her presumed guilt was determined accurate.

Now, months later, a final decision has been made and Miss Lacey’s contract will not be renewed. She is officially fired. If she had planted bombs at the Pentagon rather than telling kids to speak English, she’d have been promoted instead.

There are no pictures of Miss Lacey that I can find, so I don’t know what race she is, but the whole thing reminds me of this study published last week that found that the more integrated we become as a society–the more racially diverse, in other words–the more hostile to other races we become. Specifically white attitudes toward non-whites.

The Northwestern University study presented members of different races with information on the changing demographics in America, like, for example, the fact that by the year 2042, white people will no longer be the majority in America and will be demoted to having only a plurality. Today’s minorities, on the other hand, will be what is ridiculously called “majority-minorities”–because even when they’re the majority, they apparently still will not want to let go of that exalted minority label.

When presented with this and other facts, whites in particular “preferred interactions/settings with their own ethnic group over minority ethnic groups; expressed more negative attitudes toward Latinos, Blacks [sic], and Asian Americans; and expressed more automatic pro-White [sic] /anti-minority bias.” The reason whites reacted more negatively to the shifting-demographics information is because whites are the ones being negatively impacted by it. Hostility toward those who are displacing you is merely your instinct of self-preservation kicking into gear after much suppression by a leftist society.

The study concluded that “rather than ushering in a more tolerant future, the increasing diversity of the nation may instead yield intergroup hostility.”

The study also concluded that touching a hot stove will burn your hand. One could have figured out their conclusion just by looking at post-apartheid South Africa. Or France or England or Sweden. Heck, just look at the animal kingdom. Self-segregation is the natural world’s preferred social state; why should it be any different for humans? We like those who are like us.

In the case of Principle Lacey and her declaration of a Spanish-language ban, I suppose it could be seen as racial hostility. But Hempstead Middle School is just one case. Even if it wasn’t racially motivated, we will still witness a rise in animus between the races. When majorities become minorities, the majorities feel like their heritage is being threatened. This feeling is valid and completely natural. God put that in the DNA of all living things for a reason.

It’s especially reasonable to feel this way when one considers that the people we’re being displaced by hate us, complain about this country in which we’ve allowed them sanctuary, expect us to adapt to the cultures of their origin countries, and commit brutal crimes against us daily.

But other than that, no, why should we feel threatened by them?

Young people don't change -- neither does the NY Times

By: Ann Coulter
3/19/2014 05:33 PM

Let me begin by saying that I think the only issue in the 2014 election should be Obamacare. In fact, that should be the only issue in every election until it’s repealed.

I also think all Republican candidates should be trained with shock collars and cattle prods to automatically respond, upon hearing some combination of the words “abortion,” “rape” and “incest”: “Yes, of course there should be exceptions in the case of rape or incest, and I also support giving rapists the death penalty, unlike my Democratic opponent, who wants to give rapists the right to vote. Now, back to what I was saying about Obamacare …

“Yet and still, I’m not sure it’s news that The New York Times ran into some kids at CPAC who are “pro-free market on fiscal issues and libertarian on social ones.” (“Young Republicans Find Fault With Elders on List of Social Issues,” March 10.)

First of all, young people are idiots. I love them, I was one once myself -– but they’re idiots. We’ll be interested in their opinions on the basic rules of civilization as soon as they have one of three things: a household to run, a mortgage, or school-aged children. Being in college is like living in Disneyland.

Second, I’ve been reading that same column in The New York Times every few months for the last 20 years. Whether it’s abortion, gays, God, or drugs, Times reporters are like bloodhounds in sniffing out Republicans — often kids — who are “pro-free market on fiscal issues and libertarian on social ones.” If something has been trending for decades without ever really catching on, it’s probably not about to sweep the nation.

In 1988, the Times claimed Congress had “lost its taste for the social agenda” and quoted Sen. Warren Rudman of New Hampshire — one of the GOP’s last liberals and, consequently, the Times’ lodestar for all things Republican -– saying that people like himself “felt deeply” that the social issues should be dumped.

In 1989, the Times was all atwitter about three typical Republicans who opposed the GOP’s pro-life position. These “stalwart Republicans” were: Barbara Gimbel of Manhattan (Gimbels department store heiress), Barbara Mosbacher of Manhattan (banking heiress), and Pauline Harrison of Manhattan (DuPont heiress). All vowed not to support any pro-life candidates — except Harrison, “because she had recently been appointed to the Republican State Committee representing the 66th Assembly District on Manhattan’s East Side.” There’s a reason you never hear the expression, “As goes Manhattan’s Upper East Side, so goes the nation.”

In 1990, the Times heralded the formation of a pro-choice Republican group, consisting primarily of Ann Stone and her husband, Roger.

In 1992, the Times missed the masses of socially conservative delegates at the Republican National Convention, but somehow bumped into several people who wanted to drop the family and God references.

In 1996 — nearly 20 years ago! — guess what the Times said young voters cared about? Young people were: “Conservative on economic issues and liberal-leaning on social issues like health care and abortion.” It’s almost as if today’s generation of whippersnappers is exactly like their middle-aged counterparts 20 years ago!

In 1999, the Times reported that Republicans were “repositioning” themselves on the abortion issue, based on their recognition that “a more tolerant position” would help the GOP win the White House. The following year, pro-life Republican George W. Bush won the presidency.

In 2003, the Times again noticed that the Republican Party was considering “moving to the center on social issues in order to become even more competitive in state and national races.” Former representative Joe Scarborough told the Times, “I think the country right now continues to get more conservative on economic issues and more progressive on social issues.”

The year on the calendar changes, but the cliches stay the same.

In 2006, the Times triumphantly reported that former representative Dick Armey had denounced James Dobson and Focus on the Family as a “gang of thugs,” and “real nasty bullies.” Armey complained that while Republicans were talking about “gay marriage and so forth,” Democrats were “talking about the things people care about, like how do I pay my bills?” (Of course, as soon as Democrats get elected, then all they talk about is transgender rights for kindergartners.)

In 2008, the Times found some “families that have been Republican for generations” carping about the “newcomers’ agenda of opposition to abortion, gay rights, and liberalized immigration policies.”

In 2009, the Times reported that Republicans were “rethinking” their position on gay marriage because — guess who didn’t care about it? That’s right: Young people! In another article that year, the Times said: “Many Republicans have been arguing that the party’s focus on social issues is a mistake.”

In 2012, the Times produced this gripping headline: “Young in GOP Erase the Lines on Social Issues.” Yes, apparently, people with no responsibilities, no families to provide for, no children to worry about, and who had recently experienced their first hangovers, didn’t care about the social issues.

As with every generation, the kids always think they’re saying something fresh and new. “Social issues are far down the priorities list,” Matt Hoagland told the Times, “and I think that’s the trend.” (How far down the list compared to “global warming”?)

So I guess, in addition to sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll, we can add to the list of “Things Young People Didn’t Invent” the bright new idea of being “pro-free market on fiscal issues and libertarian on social ones.”

Interestingly, when the Times reports on actual election results, rather than the opinions of 20-year-olds, the paper admits that the social issues are a huge boon to Republicans.

In 2004, for example, when traditional marriage initiatives were on ballots in dozens of states, the Times admitted that the measures “acted like magnets for thousands of socially conservative voters in rural and suburban communities who might not otherwise have voted” and even “tipped the balance” in close races. (“Same-Sex Marriage Issue Key to Some GOP Races,” Nov. 4, 2004.)

Luckily, like every generation before them, someday, young people will eventually grow up and discover that you can’t have conservative economic policies without also having conservative social policies. Imagine their embarrassment when they realize that a free society is impossible without lots of stable, married, two-parent families raising their children in safe, drug-free neighborhoods.

How about not letting them vote until they’re at least old enough not to be on their parents’ health insurance?

Prove it: Court rules states can make voters prove citizenship

Election commission can’t stop voter ID laws

By Stephen Dinan

The Washington Times

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

**FILE** Aaron Belenky shows part of a letter from election officials while standing in front of his apartment in Overland Park, Kan., on Aug. 14, 2013. The letter lists the valid citizenship documents needed to register to vote in Kansas for the first time. Belenky allowed the American Civil Liberties Union to list him as one of three aggrieved voters in a notice sent this week to Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach. (Associated Press)A U.S. District Court judge ruled Wednesday that Arizona and Kansas can require anyone registering to vote to prove their citizenship and the federal Election Assistance Commission cannot block them.

The ruling is a boost for states’ rights and marks a setback for President Obama and other liberals who fought stiffer voter ID checks with an argument that they reduce voter turnout.

“This is a huge victory for me, personally, for the states of Kansas and Arizona, and for the whole cause of states’ rights,” said Kansas Secretary of State Kris W. Kobach, who led the challenge. “We’ve seen so many defeats recently in areas where the federal government has been encroaching on states’ authorities, and this time the good guys won.”

In his ruling, Judge Eric F. Melgren said the EAC, which Congress created after the 2000 Florida voting fiasco, must accede to states’ requests for people to provide proof of citizenship when they register to vote.

The judge said the Constitution gives states the power to determine voter qualifications, and if states want to insist on proof of citizenship, the election commission cannot overrule them.

“The EAC’s nondiscretionary duty is to perform the ministerial function of updating the instructions to reflect each state’s laws,” Judge Melgren ruled in a decision out of Kansas. “The court orders the EAC to add the language requested by Arizona and Kansas to the state-specific instructions of the federal mail voter registration form immediately.”

A spokesman for the EAC said the commission was reviewing the decision. The Justice Department, which argued the case before Judge Melgren, didn’t return a message seeking comment.

The ruling comes at a time when both Democrats and Republicans are paying increasing interest to the rules governing campaigns and voting. With the country ideologically split, each side is looking for an advantage at the ballot box.

Democrats say identification checks could prevent some eligible voters from casting ballots. Republicans generally argue for stiffer checks to prevent fraud.

Kansas and Arizona enacted requirements that voters prove their citizenship when they register. State registration forms were changed to add the requirement.

But the federal government, which also distributes voter registration forms in states under the 1993 National Voter Registration Act, or motor-voter law, refused to add the requirement.

Arizona then said it would refuse to process federal forms and ended up in court. Last year, in a case known as Arizona v. Inter Tribal Council of Arizona, the Supreme Court ruled that Arizona couldn’t reject the federal forms.

But the Supreme Court ruling also hinted that if states asked the EAC to include proof of citizenship on forms distributed within their borders, the commission couldn’t refuse.

Arizona and Kansas requested that the EAC change the forms distributed in those states, but the commission refused.

Judge Melgren said he saw clear signs in last year’s Supreme Court ruling that the justices intended for the EAC to follow the wishes of the states.

“On one hand, the ITCA decision acknowledges the broad scope of Congresspower under the Elections Clause, which includes the authority of the NVRA to preempt state law regarding voter registration,” the judge wrote. “But the ITCA opinion also emphasizes the states’ exclusive constitutional authority to set voter qualifications — which Congress may not preempt — and appears to tie that authority with the power of the states to enforce their qualifications.”

Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett said the ruling will help clean up voter rolls. About 2,000 people have submitted federal forms in the state but haven’t proved their citizenship, he said.

“With this filing and with this ruling, we have accomplished what we felt was the desire of Arizona voters all along,” Mr. Bennett said.

Wednesday’s ruling was focused on election law, but it comes in the middle of a thorny national debate about U.S. immigration laws. A number of states have pushed for stricter enforcement from the Obama administration and the right to help enforce federal immigration principles.

Mr. Kobach has been at the forefront of those effort

LBJ: I’ll have those niggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.

On March 20, 1854 the Republican Party was established in Ripon, Wisconsin. Referred to as the GOP or Grand Old Party, it established for one reason: to break the chains of slavery and ensure the unalienable rights endowed by the Creator of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness would be for all Americans.

The Republican Party was created to achieve individual freedom. Then, as now, the antagonist to the Republican party has been the Democrats, the party of collective subjugation and individual enslavement — then physical, now economic.

  • The first black members of the US House and Senate were Republicans.
  • The first civil rights legislation came from Republicans.
  • Democrats gave us the KKK, Jim Crow, lynchings, poll taxes, literacy tests, and failed policies like the “Great Society.”
  • Republican President Eisenhower ordered troops to enforce school desegregation.
  • Republican Senator Everett Dirksen enabled the 1964 civil rights legislation to pass, in opposition to Democrat Senators Robert Byrd (KKK Grand Wizard) and Al Gore, Sr.

As a matter of fact, it was Democrat President Lyndon Baines Johnson who stated, “I’ll have those niggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years” as he confided with two like-minded governors on Air Force One regarding his underlying intentions for the “Great Society” programs.

Yep, and who are the real racists? So far, thanks to a Republican Party that is ignorant of its own history and gave up on the black community, Democrats have 50 of those 200 years under their belt.

The problem with today’s Republican Party is that it has forgotten its own history and raison d’ etre: individual liberty. The Party must come to realize that GOP also stands for “Growth, Opportunity, Prosperity” and articulate how it stands, as its history and founding clearly demonstrate, for the individual pursuit of happiness as opposed to the progressive socialist (Democrat) lie of a collective guarantee of happiness.

So, happy 160th birthday to my Party, the Republican Party. I am a strong Conservative and I hope Republicans recommit to those fundamental principles which established this Party — the historical antithesis of the Democrats. Do I agree with every Republican on everything? Not always, but I doggone ain’t about to join up with the other liberal socialist rascals. And I do have a word of caution to my fellow Republicans, (wo)man up, or go the way of the Whigs.

BETS ANYONE?

Obama administration now classified as “PRANKSTER”. Thank you Mr. Putin, Number One Imperialistic Dictator, for telling it like it is! My personal definition may be a little less PC when I say, simply, that Obama is a JOKE!!! Of course, the truth is there is no difference, only a matter of semantics.

For a little perspective on the current state of international affairs that hold monumental consequences for the future of this globe let us revisit a scene just a few short decades ago: the confrontation of then U.S. President Reagan and the USSR Czar “Mr. Khrushchev”. Let’s see, I was young then, perhaps in my late twenties or early thirties and uninvolved in politics, especially worldwide matters of importance! BUT, I do recall President Reagan having the balls to tell Mr. Khrushchev to “TEAR DOWN THE WALL”. As I recall, the Czar did not take kindly to President Reagan’s demands and in one confrontation became so angry that he proceeded to beat the hell out of the table at which he was sitting.

Oh what a difference true leadership makes. Reagan displayed strength and insisted on freedom; Obama apologizes for America’s strength and tells today’s dictator that he will be more accommodating. Under Reagan the wall came down and the USSR dissolved; under Obama Crimea falls and Obama’s reaction is considered a joke!

Makes one wonder if Mr. Putin can get the USSR rebuilt during the remaining Obama tenure. Any one care to place a bet??

What Did You expect

Mr. President, how about those job thingys

President Obama is about due for another “pivot toward job creation”. We can’t remember just when the last pivot but hey, we’re old and our memory is not what it used to be. We think. Anyway, it seems like there was another jobs pivot just a couple of weeks ago and it came and went in about a heartbeat.

The point of all this snark is that Reuters is reporting today about the first of President Obama’s “manufacturing innovation hubs” in Youngstown, Ohio.

The President announced, with appropriate fanfare, in his 2013 State of the Union address that he was creating these hubs to attract new manufacturing and create great, middle class jobs that would revitalize the area where the hubs are located. Youngstown was the first hub and seven more are planned by the end of the year in Chicago, Detroit, Raleigh, and four other US metro areas hard hit by unemployment and economic problems.

With this Presidential initiative, you should think “O’manufacturing”. This plan appears to be about as well thought out as “O’healthinsurance”.

One of the biggest challenges is the nature of factory innovation itself, which often reduces, rather than bolsters, the need for workers who aren’t very skilled. That means the manufacturing initiative could help create jobs for people with highly specialized skills, such as engineers, but it may do far less to help people struggling to find work after the shuttering of local steel mills.

Three-D printers, the focus of the Youngstown project, are an example of this. Once they are programmed and loaded with raw materials, they work their magic with nary a human hand. If they are ever widely adopted, researchers say a big reason will be that they use less labor than traditional manufacturing.

Heck of a job Sparky.

What Did You expect

The President asked Congress for $1B to set up 45 of these thingys, the money is tied up in Congress, thankfully, and he’s stealing money from the military for the first seven.

Here’s the net result of the project so far in Youngstown, keeping in mind that we don’t know how much the administration spent on the project or what, if any, their initial goal was.

The Youngstown hub is still in its very early stages but so far, at least, there are no obvious signs of a wider impact. About 29,600 people held factory jobs in the Youngstown metro area in January, the latest month for which data are available. That’s actually slightly lower than the number of manufacturing jobs there when the administration awarded the hub to Youngstown in August 2012 and when it opened its doors that October. Total employment in the area was flat in 2013, while it grew nationwide.

Of six organizations in Youngstown and Cleveland – the nearest major city in the state – working on America Makes projects, none has made new hires for the work.

So, money spent, no return. It’s a government project.

How about we look at something that is adding jobs, lots and lots of really good paying jobs, to the economy.

Signs of pride and prosperity were evident all over Williamsport and the gorgeous northern Pennsylvania countryside around it. Friendly, happy people greeted us. New cars, trucks, hotels and restaurants sparkled in a clean, bustling downtown. New roofs topped barns and houses, while late model tractors worked the fields. Former dirt roads are now paved.

Men and women again have high-paying jobs, young people are coming back instead of moving away, their salaries are supporting other businesses and jobs, and many are taking college programs in oilfield technical and business specialties…

What could be causing that to happen? Could it be an administration jobs initiative that we missed?

Hydraulic fracturing has created 1.7 million new direct and indirect jobs in the United States, with the total likely to rise to 3 million jobs over the next seven years, IHS Global Insight reports. It has injected billions into North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Texas and other state economies. It’s added $62 billion to federal and state treasuries, with that total expected to rise to $111 billion by 2020.

Hydraulic fracturing, also known as “fracking” is the bearer of this good news. Fracking is an initiative of private industry and they’ve been fought tooth and nail by the Obama administration’s EPA and every blue state governor in the nation.

The boom that we’re seeing from fracking is happening almost exclusively in red states and only on privately developed lands. Federal lands, which hold huge reservoirs of gas and oil that could be safely recovered by fracking are off limits thanks to the Obama administration. They’re building solar and wind powered turkeys instead and keeping people unemployed and the US economy on a code blue.

TPNN EXCLUSIVE: Dinesh D’Souza Calls Out Obama Administration for Mafia-Style Tactics

http://www.tpnn.com/2014/03/19/tpnn-exclusive-dinesh-dsouza-calls-out-obama-administration-for-mafia-style-tactics/

Dinesh
Conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza, who earned much praise from conservatives for his documentary “2016: Obama’s America” spoke with The Tea Party News Network regarding his current battle with Obama’s Justice Department and the nature of the Obama Administration’s willingness to deal with political dissent through brute force.

In January, D’Souza was indicted for alleged campaign finance law violations. Prosecutors charge that D’Souza used straw donors to provide money to a U.S. Senate candidate in 2012.

TPNN met up with D’Souza and asked about the legal battle and questioned if the indictment was politically-motivated given his outspoken views on President Obama.

D’Souza responded that he is trying to avoid saying anything directly about the pending legal actions, but noted that the Obama Administration has a history of dealing with political dissent with force.

“I do think that Obama was unnerved by ‘2016,’” D’Souza began. “We know that because he had a diatribe about it on his website, BarackObama.com. I can also see from just looking around that the government has been using its power to target its opponents.

This is kind of an Alinsky-ite strategy. [Saul] Alinsky came up in Chicago and Alinsky says that he learned a lot of his tactics from the mafia and he points out that the way to win in politics is not to treat your opponent as a well-meaning good guy, but to make him a bad guy; treat him not as a critic, but an enemy. And that seems to be the modus operandi of this administration.”

D’Souza’s criticism comes as Obama’s IRS remains under fire after it was revealed that for years, the tax-collecting agency targeted Tea Party and conservative groups for harassment prior to and after the 2012 re-election bid.

D’Souza and many other conservatives have long pointed to Saul Alinsky as a model for Obama’s political strategy. Alinsky advocated a radical brand of politics that focuses on seizing and maintaining political power as a means of creating radical change in society and government.

New Executive Order: “Obama Has Just Given Himself the Authority to Seize Your Assets”

http://www.infowars.com/new-executive-order-obama-has-just-given-himself-the-authority-to-seize-your-assets/

SHTFplan.com
March 20, 2014

On Monday the U.S. government took steps to seize the US-based assets of Russian lawmakers and anyone else that the US government deemed complicit in supporting the Crimean secession movement.

Image: Barack Obama (Wiki Commons).

We’ve seen the U.S. government do this in countless cases surrounding drug and financial crimes, and sometimes even against foreign leaders like Saddam Hussein and Manuel Noriega.

What makes this particular instance so unprecedented and terrifying is that President Obama went so far as to issue a new Executive Order to give himself the authorization to do so, because the laws of the United States are such that our government is not allowed to simply take someone’s bank assets, home or business without due process.

Here’s the kicker.

The new Executive Order doesn’t just apply to just Russians or foreigners. It gets blanket coverage, so even American citizens could now face asset forfeiture if their actions are deemed to be “contributing to the situation in the Ukraine.”

Be careful what you say. Be careful what you write. President Obama has just given himself the authority to seize your assets.

According to the president’s recent Executive Order, “Blocking Property of Certain Persons Contributing to the Situation in Ukraine” (first reported by WND’s Aaron Klein), the provisions for seizure of property extend to “any United States person.” That means “any United States citizen, permanent resident alien, entity organized under the laws of the United States or any jurisdiction within the United States (including foreign branches), or any person in the United States.”

Via: The Ron Paul Institute

Like most Executive Orders and government legalese, the definitions for why an individual would have their assets seized under this directive are extremely broad and they could, for all intents and purposes, be used against anyone who supports Russian interests, or simply argues against those of the United States.

You can read the full Executive Order at the White House web site. The key points are noted below:

All property and interests in property that are in the United States, that hereafter come within the United States, or that are or hereafter come within the possession or control of any United States person (including any foreign branch) of the following persons are blocked and may not be transferred, paid, exported, withdrawn, or otherwise dealt in: any person determined by the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State:

(i) to be responsible for or complicit in, or to have engaged in, directly or indirectly, any of the following:

(A) actions or policies that undermine democratic processes or institutions in Ukraine;

(B) actions or policies that threaten the peace, security, stability, sovereignty, or territorial integrity of Ukraine; or

(C) misappropriation of state assets of Ukraine or of an economically significant entity in Ukraine

This new Executive Order has crossed a very dangerous line. It’s one that turns the notions of property rights and due process upside down by effectively bypassing the U.S. Constitution.

While we’re sure the President and his staff would argue that such a law would never be used against Americans who are protected by free speech, the fact is that the Executive Branch now believes it has the self-manifested authority to target any individual who engages in activities that undermine US interests abroad or at home.

If a President of the United States believes he has the authority to make it illegal for you to provide support to Russia by way of political commentary, charitable donations or other methods, could he also use similar directives to push forward other agendas?

President Obama has already re-authorized an E.O. giving him the ability to seize farms, food, processing plants, energy resources, transportation, and skilled laborers during national emergency.

The next Executive Order could come in the form of restrictions on firearms advocacy or target those who speak out against policies like government mandated health care. All it would take is the declaration of a national emergency and they can essentially do as they please.

Is it prudent to give a single person the ability to force such actions down the throats of the American people without Congressional oversight or Judicial review?

beat obamacareBy Tim Young–If you haven’t been following the landmark case that Houston’s Dr. Steven Hotze has brought against Obamacare, simply put, now’s the time to listen up.

Of all of the cases that have been brought against the administration, his is THE ONE that has found solid standing in federal court and if experts are correct, this case is the “make or break” for the fight against Obamacare in the court system.

Here’s what you need to know:

Dr. Hotze filed federal suit on May 7, 2013 in Houston Texas. The case is known as Hotze v. Sebelius.

In the case, Dr. Hotze has made 2 significant constitutional claims against Obamacare:

1 – That it violates Article 1, Section 7 of the Constitution known as the Origination Clause. The Origination clause says that any bills for raising revenue must start in the House of Representatives. Guess what? The Affordable Care Act didn’t.

2 – Obamacare violates the Takings Clause in the 5th Amendment of the Constitution. The government can’t force you to buy anything, including Obamacare… which is what this clause is set up to protect us from.

This case seems like a cut and dry win… the end of the tyranny that is Obamacare… but that’s not what a Clinton appointed judge said on January 10, 2014. Federal District Judge Nancy Atlas actually agreed with all of Dr. Hotze’s points… but SOMEHOW STILL FOUND OBAMACARE TO BE CONSTITUTIONAL!

A shocked Dr. Hotze and his legal team immediately appealed to the U.S. 5th Circuit Court in New Orleans. It is by far the most conservative of the 13 federal circuit courts… but with a ruling like what happened in Houston, who knows what will happen.

Here’s the bottom line: This is it. This is our last solid LEGAL and CONSTITUTIONAL chance to stop Obamacare. If this fails, we lose in the courts. Republicans know this. That’s why Sen. John Cornyn and Congressman Pete Sessions are writing and circulating an amicus brief in support of Dr. Hotze’s case.

Battle lines have been drawn, the war has been waged and we are ready to take our final stand with Dr. Hotze. If you want to join the Senators and Congressmen standing with him, please go to www.CitizensAgainstObamacare.com and sign the petition.

He can only win this with your help and support. If you believe in an America that isn’t faced with this horrible tyranny, please go to www.CitizensAgainstObamacare.com and stand against Obamacare right now!

High school senior jailed, kicked out of school and may lose Army dream because of pocket knife in car

Jordan Wiser, 18, was arrested after school officials in Jefferson, Ohio, found a pocket knife in his car. The incident could cost him his dream of joining the Army. (JBWphotography)

A knife similar to this was in an EMT vest in the trunk of Wiser’s car. The student maintains that it was part of his life-saving kit and used for tasks like cutting a victim’s seat belt.

An Ohio high school student has already been jailed and kicked out of school for having a pocket knife in his car, and now he fears he could lose his dream of serving in the Army.

Jordan Wiser, a student at Ashtabula County Technical School in Jefferson, is finishing up his senior year from home after school officials searched his car in December and found the folding knife and an Airsoft gun. School officials called police, who charged him with illegal conveyance of a weapon onto a school ground based on the three-inch knife.

“I declined to allow them to search myself or my car and that I wanted to talk to my lawyer or my father,” Wiser told FoxNews.com. “They told me it wasn’t an option.”

Wiser, an EMT trainee who hopes to become both a police officer and a soldier, spent 13 days in the Ashtabula County Jail following the incident. The knife, which Wiser said is part of his first responders kit and can be used for slicing an accident victim’s seat-belt, was found tucked inside his EMT medical vest in the trunk of the car. The Airsoft gun, which fires non-lethal pellets, was not illegal and was used by Wiser in a shooting club he belongs to, he said.

School officials told FoxNews.com that possession of the pocket knife was a violation of the school’s zero tolerance policy for bringing weapons on campus and that based on a message he posted on an online forum, they had probable cause to search Wiser and his car. They also insisted Wiser consented to the search.

“When we asked, he had said, ‘okay,'” school Superintendent Jerome Brockway said.

Brockway said the district is obliged to motion for expulsion once a student is found with banned items on campus, and said the student handbook states that officials have the right to search a student and his or her vehicle if they have probable cause.

“We indicate that we have the right to search, and he was aware of the policy,” he said, adding that the decision to pursue criminal charges was left to police and prosecutors.

Wiser has a court hearing on April 1. He is hoping for a favorable disposition to put his career plans back on track. He has been kicked out of the Army’s Future Soldier Training System program, and his plans to enlist in August are now in jeopardy. He says he is seriously considering filing a lawsuit.

“It is definitely an option,” said Wiser, who must enroll in a special online program to complete his education.

Russian Deputy PM Laughs at Obama’s Sanctions

 By

Mar 17, 2014 3:09pm

MOSCOW – Russia’s deputy prime minister laughed off President Obama’s sanction against him today  asking “Comrade @BarackObama” if “some prankster” came up with the list.

The Obama administration hit 11 Russian and Ukrainian officials with sanctions today as punishment for Russia’s support of Crimea’s referendum. Among them: aides to President Vladimir Putin, a top government official, senior lawmakers, Crimean officials, the ousted president of Ukraine, and a Ukrainian politician and businessman allegedly tied to violence against protesters in Kiev.

It remains to be seen whether the sanctions will dissuade Russia from annexing Crimea, but one an early clue that they will not be effective came just hours later when President Putin signed a decree recognizing Crimea as an independent state, perhaps an early step towards annexation.

U.S. official have warned of additional sanctions for Russian action, hoping it will deter Russia from any further aggression towards Ukraine, but it didn’t appear to upset the often outspoke Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.

Rogozin, a friend of actor Steven Seagal,  took to Twitter to tweak Obama, tweeting  he thinks “some prankster” came up with the sanctions list

In a later tweet addressed to “Comrade @BarackObama,” he asked, “what should do those who have neither accounts nor property abroad? Or U didn’t think about it?”

Another Russian on the sanctions list, Vladislav Surkov, also seemed unconcerned.

Surkov,  a top Putin ideologue often called the Kremlin’s grey cardinal, reportedly told a Russian newspaper, “It’s a big honor for me. I don’t have accounts abroad. The only things that interest me in the U.S. are Tupac Shakur, Allen Ginsberg, and Jackson Pollock. I don’t need a visa to access their work. I lose nothing.”

Here’s who gets hit with the sanctions:

U.S. officials said that, among the sanctioned individuals were the “key ideologists and architects” of Russia’s Ukraine policy, while adding that some of the Russian officials were included in the list for their role in curbing “human rights and liberties” in Russia.

The sanctions freeze any assets under American jurisdiction and prevent American banks from doing business with the named individual, essentially freezing them out of the international banking system. The sanctions also impose a ban on their travel to the United States. Separately, but in coordination with the White House, the European Union announced sanctions today on 21 individuals that it plans to name later. U.S. officials told reporters that the American and European lists “overlapped” in some area, but declined to say how.

While some of the sanctioned officials are bold faced names, the White House move is unlikely to affect Russia’s decision making with regard to Crimea’s bid to join the Russian Federation. Russia’s stock market actually improved on the news that so few officials were included on the list. U.S. officials warned that, if Russia does go ahead with annexation of Crimea, additional penalties will follow, with more, harsher measures to come if Russia attempts to enter eastern Ukraine.

 Kremlin aides

Vladislav Surkov – An aide to President Vladimir Putin, he was once considered one of Russia’s most powerful men. He has been called the Kremlin’s “gray cardinal” for his role as a power broker behind the scenes. He’s also credited the architect of Russia’s political system, with power concentrated in the presidency. In the past he was credited with shaping the ideology of the ruling United Russia party. He has also written rock music lyrics and is rumored to have authored a book.

Sergei Glazyev – An economic aide to Putin who oversaw relations with Ukraine. He frequently blasted the protest movement in Kiev and was outspoken in his criticism of American and European support for the protests.

Top government official

Dmitry Rogozin – An outspoken, hawkish Deputy Prime Minister, he’s known to have a close friendship with Hollywood actor Steven Seagal. As a member of Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev’s government, Rogozin is responsible for the armed forces and arms industry.

 Russian lawmakers

Elena Mizulina – A senior lawmaker, she is considered one of the Kremlin’s morality enforcers in the parliament. She is perhaps best known as the co-author of last year’s homosexual “propaganda” law which sparked outrage overseas. She also proposed a measure to give Ukrainians Russian passports.

Leonid Slutsky – A lawmaker in the lower house of Parliament. He is the chair of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration, and Relations with Compatriots. He was one of the Russian observers attending Sunday’s referendum in Crimea.

Andrei Klishas – A member of the upper house of Parliament, the Federation Council, who proposed retaliatory action in case of Western sanctions on Russia. He is chairman of the Federation Council Committee of Constitutional Law, Judicial, and Legal Affairs, and the Development of Civil Society.

Valentina Matviyenko – The head of the Federation Council, she is the most senior lawmaker on the sanctions list.

Crimean officials

Sergey Aksyonov – Once an obscure pro-Russian politician in Crimea, he has now been declared the prime minister.

Vladimir Konstantinov – The newly declared speaker of Crimea’s parliament.

Ukrainian officials

Viktor Medvedchuk – A pro-Russian politician, he is being sanctioned for having “materially assisted, sponsored, or provided financial, material, or technological support” to impeached President Viktor Yanukovich. Ukraine’s opposition has accused him of orchestrating or aiding a crackdown on protesters and opposition.

Viktor Yanukovich – The ousted president of Ukraine. He was elected in 2010 but was chased from office by protests last month.

MAX HASTINGS: Putin thinks the West is as weak as jelly. And the tragedy is he’s right

The West’s outrage at Russia’s illegal annexation of the Crimea found full expression at Monday’s meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.

It was announced that 21 Russian and Crimean politicians and officials face a travel ban and asset freeze, a sanction matched by America. Thus, a tiny number of Moscow’s elite and their puppets find their Harrods cards suspended.

And in case you are wondering, it is as likely that President Vladimir Putin’s £25billion personal fortune will be discovered sitting in a current account at the Kensington branch of NatWest as that Sevastapol will win the 2014 Holiday Destination of the Year prize.

Armed aggression: Putin's actions in Ukraine rely on exactly the same arguments that Hitler once deployed

Armed aggression: Putin’s actions in Ukraine rely on exactly the same arguments that Hitler once deployed

Former Foreign Secretary Sir Malcolm Rifkind yesterday dismissed this pea-shoot gesture as ‘pathetic’, and he is right.

Whatever the historic arguments for Crimean secession from Ukraine – and some exist – Putin’s act of armed aggression, with threats of more to come, relies on exactly  the same arguments that Hitler deployed to justify his 1938-39 lunges into Czechoslovakia and Poland.

Russia’s brutish president plays golf abroad with only one club in his bag — force, or the threat of it.

Nothing that has been said or done by the West since the Ukrainian crisis began will have caused him a moment’s discomfort.

Russia cannot impress the world by social or industrial achievements, because it boasts none. It can gain our attention only by inspiring fear or sponsoring mayhem, whether in Crimea, Iran or Syria, and Putin is content that this should be so.

The United States yesterday warned of further sanctions against Russia, including expulsion from the G8.

But it remains unlikely that the leading Continental nations will support convincing economic action.

Half of Europe cooks on Russian gas, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel opposes a display of real defiance against Putin, or indeed any foreign enemy.

Thus the master of the Kremlin has concluded that the West is weak, jelly weak. The evidence of almost three decades since the Cold War’s ending suggests he is right.

Depressed

Europe’s major powers have largely dismantled their armed forces. NATO is more dependent on the Americans than ever in its history for any display of military power.

U.S. radar surveillance aircraft and U.S. fighters yesterday patrolled the skies over Eastern Europe, and mighty sick the American people are becoming of paying the bill for our defences.

And where in all this is Britain? The Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary have talked bravely since the crisis began.

Yesterday in the Commons, William Hague deplored Russia’s ‘land grab’, the manner in which Moscow has rejected ‘respect for the law of that country, or for international law’.

He asserts that Putin has made ‘a big miscalculation’; that Russia will face ‘costs and consequences’ for its military intervention in Ukraine.

Brave talk: Foreign Secretary William Hague has condemned Putin, but Britain now commands little respect internationally

Brave talk: Foreign Secretary William Hague has condemned Putin, but Britain now commands little respect internationally.

But why should Moscow be impressed? This British Government, for all its pretensions since 2010 to play a heroic lead, has conducted its affairs in a fashion that leaves us singing falsetto on the international stage.

A friend who recently accompanied a national delegation to the Middle East told me how depressed he was to discover how respect for Britain has slumped.

We have lost two wars, in Iraq and Afghanistan, albeit as junior partners to the Americans; then made an almighty mess of policy towards Syria.

There, David Cameron and William Hague marched to the top of the hill, then had to come scuttling down again when they found nobody else following. Libya is now a shambles.

Defence cuts have made a sorry impression. We can no longer posture in Washington as a credible partner in military operations, and the Government lies through its teeth about the state of our Armed Forces.

Stuck with two absurd giant aircraft-carriers under construction, it refuses to admit a truth well known in Whitehall – that it can afford only a handful of American-built F-35 jets to fly off them.

Ministers pretend they can make good their drastic reduction in Army strength by recruiting more reservists. Yet every man, woman and sniffer dog in the services knows the reserves scheme is dead in the water.

Thuggery

Moreover, in the secrecy of the Ministry of Defence, discussions have already started about prospective Army cuts below the planned 82,000 establishment, on the assumption that even this will soon be unaffordable.

David Cameron has placed Britain’s security in the hands of an accountant, Defence Secretary Philip Hammond, who displays as much understanding of strategy as Davina McCall.

It is welcome that a British Government should recognise our diminished place in the world. It is sad, however, that respect for this country should be so drastically reduced.

Accountant: Defence Secretary Philip Hammond has overseen plans to slash the Armed Forces

Accountant: Defence Secretary Philip Hammond has overseen plans to slash the Armed Forces

Britain commands enthusiasm among the rich and mighty as a great destination for shopping, country week-ending and Michelin-starred dinners.

But William Hague’s stern remarks about Ukraine impress foes and friends alike no more than the same lines delivered by Winnie the Pooh.

The lessons of the Ukraine crisis are written in neon lights. First, after decades in which the Left has denounced American ‘meddling’ in the affairs of other nations, here we see what happens when the greatest democracy on earth renounces its historic leadership role.

Barack Obama’s presidency is a failure for many reasons, rooted in the weird detachment of the man himself.

But it is scary indeed to see what happens when a big, ugly state such as Russia, ruled by a gangster elite, decides that the United States and its leader are no longer capable of resisting its thuggery.

Beyond this, it has been plain for decades that the U.S. is unwilling much longer to bankroll and spearhead our defence – and why should it, when Europe is a rich continent? Now, we see Germany refusing even to use its vast economic muscle to deter Moscow.

We must keep a sense of historical perspective. The Ukrainian crisis is grave, but it is not 1914 nor 1939. Nonetheless, it should provide a giant wake-up call to Europeans.

History did not end with the conclusion of the Cold War. There are still very bad people out there, willing to do very bad things unless they are deterred or stopped.

It is indispensable for NATO to warn Moscow, and mean it, that any act of aggression towards the Baltic states would provoke a major showdown.

Instead of imposing personal sanctions on a mere 21 Russians and Crimeans, every member of the Russian parliament who voted for invasion and annexation should be denied entry to the U.S. and EU.

Germany must recognise that its place as the richest and most powerful nation in Europe demands that it should start to do its share towards protecting our common security, as it has not done since 1990.

Crumbling

The British Government must find the money to rebuild our crumbling Armed Forces. We need a credible strategy for the 21st century, instead of a mere defence balance sheet.

Crumbling forces: Reductions in Armed Forces spending has left us less able to act

Crumbling forces: Reductions in Armed Forces spending has left us less able to act

It is a misfortune for the world that Russia, a great nation, should have fallen into the hands of brutes. Putin reveres Stalin, one of the most successful mass murderers of the 20th century.

Freedom and dissent are, in the Russian president’s eyes, unacceptable in his new czardom.

Yesterday, a Ukrainian servicemen was shot and killed at a base that came under attack in Crimea’s main town of Simferopol.

The acting Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk called it a war crime and said the Crimean conflict has now entered a ‘military phase’. These are chilling words indeed.

We neither need nor wish to fight Russia, but the West must abandon its dismally failed attempt to appease its leader.

The bear will continue to claw victims unless we display the will to drive him back into his lair – before he comes hunting closer to our own door.

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A parent is speaking out after she said her daughter’s teacher rejected a rough draft of her paper. The subject, her hero, Jesus.

Heather Watts said her daughter attends second grade at Cerro Gordo Elementary School in Columbus County. Watts said the teacher asked her 8-year-old daughter Ryleigh, “can’t you write about something different?”

“I think she should have freedom to write about what she wants to write about,” the disgruntled mother said. “If she wants to write about Jesus, she should write about Jesus.”

Watts said this question is threatening her daughter’s First Amendment rights of freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

A statement from the school denies the incident:

“After speaking with both the teacher and the principal, we have learned that students were not restricted from writing on any topic of their choosing. Columbus County Schools encourages student expression in all aspects of our educational program. We also have an open-door policy, and encourage our parents and guardians to contact or visit their child’s school to address any concerns.”

After meeting with her daughter’s principal and teacher, Watts said the issue has not been resolved and Ryleigh is still being asked to write about something different.

Sexual Assaults In The Military Are At An All-Time High And Most Of Them Are Male On Male

http://freedomoutpost.com/2014/03/sexual-assaults-military-time-high-male-male/#OXdv4RgIUjOEu228.99

There is a raging epidemic of sexual assault in the U.S. military. A report released by the U.S. Department of Defense says that an astounding 12,000 women serving in the U.S. military were sexually assaulted in 2012. This is a national disgrace, and any U.S. service member that rapes a woman deserves the death penalty in my opinion. It has gotten so bad that a female service member serving in Afghanistan is more likely to be raped by a male service member than she is to be killed by the Taliban. But that is only half the story. Sexual assault against males is at an epidemic level in the U.S. military as well. In fact, according to the same report that I just mentioned, there were 14,000 sexual assaults against men serving in the U.S. military during 2012. That means that most of the sexual assaults in the military are actually male on male. The following is an excerpt from an article in the New York Times

According to the Department of Defense’s Military Sexual Assault Report for 2012, an estimated 26,000 members of the United States military, both men and women, were sexually assaulted in that year. The Pentagon survey almost certainly underreports the scale of the issue. Of those sexual assaults, 53 percent (approximately 14,000 in 2012) were attacks on men.

The study also found that male service members are far less likely to report when they are attacked, and when a report is made, military authorities are far less likely to go after the perpetrator

These men — an estimated 13,900 last year alone — are far less likely than women to report an attack. Only 13 percent of reports last year were filed by men, military data show.

But the disparities do not end there. The Sun found that when men do report a sexual assault, military authorities are less likely to identify a suspect, to refer charges to court-martial or to discharge the perpetrator than in cases in which the victim is a woman.

Fortunately, after years of denial this issue is starting to come to the forefront. Some prominent retired officers are even speaking out about this.

For example, Major General Dennis J. Laich says that the military brass “should be asking for forgiveness” from the thousands of victims that never got justice…

The chain of command “should be asking for forgiveness” from the thousands we have failed to serve and protect over the past 25 years, former Maj. Gen. Dennis J. Laich (ret.) told reporters during a press call. “When an American female service member serving in Afghanistan has a higher probability of being raped by a fellow soldier than being killed by the Taliban, I would submit that the chain of command has a problem,” he continued.

When we can’t even protect members of our own military, we have got a major problem on our hands.

During 2012, more than 85,000 military veterans were formally treated for sexual abuse that they suffered while serving in the U.S. military.

And even though they are less likely to come forward for treatment, 40 percent of those that were treated were men.

Things have gotten so bad at this point that even military recruiters have become known for sexually assaulting those that they are recruiting. According to the Washington Post, the Pentagon is pledging to do something about this growing problem…

“The secretary has made it clear that we will spare no effort to rid our military of sexual abuse,” said George Little, the Pentagon press secretary. “The fact that there have been problems of sexual abuse during the recruiting process is simply intolerable.”

When you get sexually assaulted, it can absolutely shatter your life – especially if you never get any justice. This is one of the reasons why the suicide rate in the U.S. military is so high.

Most people don’t realize this, but the number of active members of the U.S. military that kill themselves each year now exceeds the number that are dying on the battlefield.

And according to one absolutely shocking study, 22 military veterans kill themselves in the United States every single day.

Clearly something is very wrong with the U.S. military.

Most of the time, the stories of these victims of sexual assault in the military never get told. But fortunately a few of them are starting to get out there. For example, consider what happened to former Marine Lance Corporal Jeremiah Arbogast

His eyes low, focused on the prepared statement in front of him, Arbogast recounted the details of his own sexual assault and its equally horrifying aftermath. He was drugged to the point of incapacitation and sexually assaulted by a fellow marine, a former staff sergeant, while on active duty. “I was humiliated at the thought of my helplessness,” he said.

Two months after the attack, incessant nightmares, anxiety, depression and confusion finally overpowered his fear and embarrassment and Arbogast confronted a base social worker who reported the attack to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, which investigates crimes involving Naval or Marine Corps personnel. This would only further his humiliation, Arbogast came to find out. He said he was forced to make recorded phone calls to his rapist and even confront him at his house while wearing a wire in order to get a confession. He accomplished his mission, but his nightmare was far from over. Arbogast’s attacker was arrested and hit with several charges including sexual assault and sodomy, but after only a week in court, evidence shed light on his 23 years of service and he walked away with a bad conduct discharge and no jail time. Arbogast said his rapist was ordered to NCIS headquarters for fingerprinting only to reveal that he’d dulled the skin on his fingertips, and that he managed to refuse to register on the sex offender database by simply saying, “No, I don’t have to.”

You can read some more first person testimonies of sexual assault in the U.S. military right here.

This has got to stop.

The U.S. military is supposed to be the most highly disciplined fighting force on the planet, and there is no excuse for this.

Sadly, the reality is that what is going on in the military is simply a reflection of society as a whole.

America has become a giant cesspool of filth and corruption, and this is manifesting itself in thousands of different ways.

If it was up to me, every member of the U.S. military that rapes someone would get the death penalty.

But it is not up to me. Instead, political correctness has taken over the U.S. military and we have an administration that treats military veterans like absolute garbage.

So let us hope that things in the military start to get better, but I wouldn’t count on it.

Message from Panayiota Bertzikis

Greetings,

You are about to read true first person testimonies of sex abuse in the United States military. A lot of the survivors do go into details about their sexual assault, rape and the military response to the rape.  Reading these testimonies could potentially be triggering to survivors of Military Sexual Trauma or rape. Please take that into account before continue reading.

My Duty to Speak started as a writing workshop in Cambridge, MA for Military Sexual Trauma survivors that was hosted by the Military Rape Crisis Center in November 2010. The day workshop was taught by some of the greatest trauma and writing specialist in the country. By writing about what we went through while wearing the uniform we broke the silence of abuse liberating ourselves while also might be helping someone else who is feeling the same way.

We are thankful for so many survivors who came forward to share their Military Sexual Trauma testimonies with us. As you can read from the testimonies the military response to rape is often as disturbing and horrifying as the act of rape itself. Want to do something to help survivors? Take Action and call your representatives and demand better treatment for sexual assault survivors in the military. Head over to change.org and sign our brand new Petition to demand better treatment to survivors of rape in the Coast Guard. If you are interested in sharing your testimony go to Be Heard.

My staff and I are always available to you email me at panayiota@stopmilitaryrape.org . Together we are making a difference and improving the military response to sex abuse within it ranks. However, there is a lot more that needs to be done and we can not do this without you,  your support and your voice!

Friendly Fire, Not So Friendly

They say a Marine on duty has no friends. Truer words have never been spoken.

My experience in the military has been one of accomplishment, pride, and endurance. It was also heart breaking, emotionally disturbing, and disappointing. I enjoyed being in the Marine Corps. It was challenging. It pushed me to limits I didn’t even know existed, and beyond. After completing MOS school I was stationed aboard a tropical island, many only dream of going.

I was doing well for myself aboard my station, received recognition for achievements, and I was satisfied. I met my husband and we began our family together. There had already been rumors that there were Marines who were not conducting themselves properly. Our unit had come under investigation, which wasn’t surprising given the fact leadership did nothing to change how Marines were behaving nor how problems were handled. The “keep it in-house rule” was applied for anything that arose from underage drinking, to attacks on females in an attempt to keep them quiet. Not my problem. It was “above my pay grade”.

Duty NCO’s are in charge of keeping the peace in the barracks, and I have my own things to deal with. Besides, I didn’t live in the barracks. Around this time, a family member of mine became gravely ill. I had used up all of my leave and was unable to go home. My husband in turn went with our son to see this family member as we were unsure whether they would pass due to their illness. I packed up their things and sent them on their way. They were set to return three weeks after their departure. This was my first time being apart from my son, and staying in a multi-story house alone did nothing to ease this. I became very work oriented often spending an additional 2-3 hours after close of business of the work day. Thing’s hadn’t been going to well at work because a disgruntled higher-up had been removed from his position and placed in my work section. The wonderful joys of dealing with an angry old school Marine who believes women should be making coffee, sweeping the floors, and staying at home. The weekend following my family’s departure was much welcomed, and brought about a sense of relief for two days.

As usual, I went over to see my neighbor who husband was on deployment. So, girls night, we had ourselves a couple of drinks and enjoyed watching several shows. Earlier in the day another neighbor had invited her to come over and partake in a cookout they were having. I was invited to come. We shared drinks, enjoyed some food, and were inebriated by midnight. I called it a night and returned to my house which was down the street. Somewhere along the lines a Marine I knew had come over unannounced and was at this cookout. I didn’t know or realize until the next morning. I didn’t recall much of the night and much less when I got home to my couch to sleep. Some how I had arisen in my bed, hair saturated with water, and my vagina was sore. My neighbor said this person had come inside of my house with me and she had eventually left, with him still in my house. Great battle buddy indeed. Anyway, I brushed off the incident since I didn’t remember anything and didn’t want to make a big deal about it. After all, it was nothing right?

The following day after the incident we went about our day, grocery shopping, mall, lunch, the usual things military spouses and members do on the weekend. I didn’t know where my phone was and chalked it up to being loss in my drunken stupor. Night fell quickly, and I was feeling better about what had happened earlier in the day. My neighbor came over, which on occasion I would be the one over at her house. A fellow Marine I knew was having a rough day so I invited them to come over as well. We were siting in my living room and watched movies on my television. I left my door unlocked because I was living on base. Obviously nothing bad happens on military bases. Ever. In walks the Marine from the other night and it kind of shocked me. I didn’t invite him to come over and he walk through my door like he owned the place. I didn’t want to start any trouble or anything to that effect. I went to the kitchen and called my neighbor. I told her I felt “weird” and was feeling tired. I went outside with her and we smoked several cigarettes. After this, I went upstairs to my bedroom locked the door. They continued to drink and talk downstairs. I changed into a pair of pajamas I had, and looked forward to jumping in my bed. New sheets and comforter so that when my husband came home he would be impressed I put an effort to making his return joyous. We had moved in fairly recently and didn’t really have things like coffee tables and decorations. All of which I bought that weekend. I woke up at 3 or 4 that morning to my pajama bottoms being ripped off. I could see his outline, I could smell him. I knew who it was.

My friend, my fellow Marine I had known for a long time, doing the unthinkable. I knew my other male marine friend was in the other room because he would never drive after drinking. I went to yell for him but he told me not to and covered my mouth. He continued to do as he please, all the while I struggled. I was scared. I was angry. I was hurt. I finally was able to kick him off of me. He went to grab his stuff; I pulled the comforter over my head. I heard the door click shut. I cried myself to sleep that night. The following morning I woke up to another female marine I was very close to shaking me. She had entered through the garage after my husband instructed her to check on me since neither one could get a hold of me. We were to go to the beach that morning. I moved the sheets to find that I was sitting in a pool of blood. I didn’t know what was going on. I yelled at her and threw her out. Its always the ones we love we hurt the most. I jumped in the shower and cried and cried until I had no more tears. I got dressed and headed down stairs. The marine who had stayed in the other room was sitting on the couch, after having cleaned up a bit. I sat on the couch and told him everything. He asked me what did I want to do. We both knew if I said anything, bad always comes down the pipeline. I wanted to pretend that nothing happened. I knew if I said something everything I held to be good and true in the world would come crashing down and it would make the Rape real. It’s still difficult to say he raped me. We went to the gas station so that I could fill up my SUV. When we got there I saw my friend. She had been through the same circumstances. I grabbed her and hugged her and told her everything. She held me close and said you need to tell the police. I looked and her said I can’t. I’m scared. You know what’ll happen. No one will believe me. She respected me enough to let me make that decision on my own. Later that day I mustered enough will power to tell my husband what happened. I reported the incident to the police.

I knew once I said this it was going to become a mad house in my battalion. It took a long time before the police convinced me to give them his name. Marines would called me liar. I was ridiculed and forced to sit through SAPR training which contains a reenactment of a rape. Worse of all, I would have a battalion that would not support me and force me to work with this Marine, in the same unit, only 10 feet away everyday. All the Marines I knew would shun me and turn their backs. Marines would drive by and yell obscenities as I walked down the street. I said what was happening to me after I reported the rape to the Battalion Commander. I was told not to complain and ‘Duty before self’. I was discharged from the Marine Corps four months later. Several other female marines came forward with their stories of rape from the same Marine. After seeing how I was treated, all retracted their statements. I don’t blame them. A Marine on duty has no friends. No room for doubt in the Marine Corps Fidelity.

Nobody to turn to.

Wronged Recruit, United States Army
I had loved hanging out at the recruiting station, chatting with my recruiter, SFC H. He seemed like a nice guy. Always willing to come pick me up across town since I didn’t have a car, let me use his computer since I didn’t have internet, answer any question I may have even if it wasn’t military related. It took me 6 months from when I first walked in that door to when I swore in. SFC H was in the process of leaving for deployment with his wife and kids. I swore in June 27, 2012. A week or so later, SFC H wanted to take me out to dinner to celebrate. He said he took all his recruits out. I agreed. We went to a pizza place and chatted for a while.

We talked about the online training I had to complete and that I didn’t have internet. He offered to let me come back to his hotel room and use his computer. I was hesitant. He insisted, saying it was for military business/training. I was still hesitant, but agreed. We did most of my training, then chatted about basic and AIT for a while. He started talking about how I needed to “get my lovin done before I went.” Then he offered to help me with that. I declined and said I had to leave. He reminded me that he had the power to get my contract cut. He made me sleep with him. He told me not to tell anyone.

When I got to basic, we had our SHARP training. I finally broke down and told our liaison. She took me straight to the 1SG, who had me go to CID. They took my statement and said they would be in touch. I received one call via my CO during basic from CID. My Drill Sgts told me to get over it and that I should be fine with them running their hands from hips to ankles during shake downs after the range, etc. I wasn’t. The DS constantly singled me out and belittled me for having those issues. I ended up being discharged after my “battles” told me I was lying and to kill myself to save them the trouble.

I received a couple emails and one or two phone calls from CID after that. Then an email stating that they had closed the case with no repercussions for SFC H. I was crushed. Not only was my trust in my NCOs shattered, but my trust in my battle buddies and the UCMJ. JAG didn’t do anything. Anytime I tried to talk to somebody about it, I was blown off. The VA isn’t much help, helplines aren’t much help, I’ve even tried civilian sources. The second I mention military, they stop paying attention. I have constant nightmares about him coming after me. I am so jumpy it’s now a joke and game to my coworkers to see me jump out of my skin when they sneak up behind me. I can’t sleep, I eat so much I’ve gained over 50 lbs since basic. I’m at a complete loss as to what to do anymore. It’s a nightly battle convincing myself that suck-starting my pistol won’t solve my problems. I feel so alone.

U.S Soldier raped at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center

Anonymous, United States Army

I am stationed at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Bethesda, originally from New Jersey. I never said anything  about this because I was embarrassed because I broke down and took a plea deal where he plead guilty to adultery.

He was supposed to receive a letter of reprimand, to be confined for 45 days, to undergo 45 days of hard labor, to be restricted for 45 days, and to be reduced in rank to E-3. ..well I JUST now got an email from the Department of the Navy stating he was administratively discharged on 12 April 2013. And that “although I am approving this sentence, no hard labor without confinement or period of restriction was initiated prior to administrative separation” …an email 6 months after the fact, with a letter that was dated 26 April, basically saying “Oh, I’m sorry, he only did half of his punishment.”Which was an already reduced punishment in my opinion for what I’ve gone through because of him! ..I’m not sure what you can do with this information, but I figure someone should hear this besides the people he that have done NOTHING for me. I HOPE YOU CAN USE THIS STORY FOR SOMETHING GOOD!

On September 9, 2011 I lost all my trust in the military. That’s the night I decided to go out with someone I met through work, HM2, USN. I had worked with HM2 for a few weeks when he asked me to go with him and a few other co-workers to celebrate his last weekend in Bethesda. I agreed to this because I was under the impression it was going to be a group gathering. I wrote my phone number down on a piece of paper for him to contact me with the details, I was only told it was going to be a Friday night. He never contacted me but instead just showed up to my place of duty and offered to give me a ride to Downtown DC where we were to meet the others. No one else ended up showing up but I stayed and we danced at a few different clubs.

That night ended in a hotel room that I do not remember getting to. Between that moment and the next morning, I have hazy, intermittent memories of him having sex with me. The next morning I tried to forget it ever happened, I wanted to forget I ever met him. But that is when he continuously placed phone calls to my place of duty and even went as far as to drive 45 minutes out of his way to, I believe, intimidate me. The last phone call he placed is when I was blindsided with the information that this person is married, has three children, and has herpes. I wanted this to all go away, to forget it ever happened, but he chose to, once again, do the wrong thing.

I feel betrayed in two ways: I feel betrayed as a woman and I feel betrayed by the Navy as a soldier. I am 23 years old, hardworking, intelligent, and caring. I would never hurt someone on purpose. I would never maliciously attack, violate, or intimidate someone. Joining the Army is the only thing that has taken me away from home. I feel like some of my innocence was lost. The fact that I cannot remember getting to the hotel room has made me very depressed and has left me crippled with anxiety. Most of the anxiety stems from the fact that I cannot remember what happened, playing it back in my mind, wondering if just would have done “this” or “that”…maybe he wouldn’t have done this to me.

Sometimes I wake up out of my sleep, panicking, and lock myself in the bathroom until I can calm myself down. Other times I dream that I am trying to scream for help, but no noise comes out of my mouth. I feel so disgusting and horrible. This person also put me at risk of contracting an incurable disease. Thankfully, I have tested negative for herpes. During the time all of this happened I was taking two college classes. I received my first “D” and second “C” in my academic career. My goal in September 2011 was to get my Bachelor’s degree in Medical Imaging by January 2013. I also had specific goals to reach professionally, but I have yet to get that motivation back.

As a soldier, we are taught that being a Non-Commissioned Officer is an honor and a privilege bestowed upon those who earn it. That it’s a position held by someone who has not only proven themselves as a soldier, but as a leader. An NCO swears to “at all times conduct one’s self so as to bring credit upon the Corps, the military service, and their country” and to “never compromise their integrity”…but HM2 chose to bring shame to the military and himself. An NCO is something that I whole-heartedly aspired to be before this happened; now, I struggle with my motivation to continue to reach my goals and I no longer want to re-enlist and be a career soldier. This has affected not only me but my work place at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Radiology Department.

This “NCO” – HM2 – showed up to the Radiology department multiple times after he PCS’d down to Fort Belvoir Community Hospital. The first two times I didn’t say anything. Then he called. And after I found out he was married he showed up again after calling a few times. All of this calling and showing up to work made me nervous and not a productive member of the team. And the phone calls took time that none of us had because we are a very busy department. The last time he showed up to work was a Friday, which is a flight night for us, we are busy. When I told a co-worker to ask him to leave he didn’t leave. So I waited about 15 minutes and he was still there. That’s when my co-worker got my Army NCO, SGT and I told him what happened and that HM2 needed to leave.

At that point three productive members to the Radiology team, on one of the busiest nights, were unavailable because HM2 would not leave. Not only were we unavailable for a portion of the night, I had to leave for the remainder of the shift because SGT told me to leave and go to a friend’s house to be safe. I was grilled and interrogated as if I had been the one who had done wrong, then I was given the run-around as to whom my counsel was and what, if any, progress was being made with this case. I can’t help but feel this is a systematic process that weeds out the faint of heart and tries to scare victims of assault into thinking that there isn’t a chance in hell that justice will be brought forth and they will be protected.

I gave my blessing for this plea deal because after 16 months, I cannot endure anymore. I have been treated like a criminal. I was re-victimized by Navy JAG officers who berated me for wanting to get an order of protection from this person who had already shown behavior that would warrant one. I would not have been put in this situation and treated the way I have been for the past 16 months had it not been for HM2’s actions the night of September 9, 2011 and thereafter with him showing up to work.

TSgt raped at Sather Air Base Iraq

Mary Gallager,  United States Air Force

I was at Sather AB, Iraq in November 2009, this was my 3 tour to the region. I was having trouble with a co-worker and one night I went into to the bathroom as I came out of the stall he was standing there and threw me up against the wall and raped me and then told me “that is how you fuck a whore”. He left me there and when I finally left I went to my Commander who told that it is a “he said she said”. 12yrs of service went down the drain that night. From that point on the Air Force saw me damaged goods and they told me I had PTSD and medically discharged me just a year before I was a raising star doing what I love and now I spend my days at the VA, taking pills, and trying to find a reason to live!

Recently separated Coast Guard veteran demanding changes in how the Coast Guard handles rape cases.

I was separated from the Coast Guard because I reported a rape.

I am not ready to share my story.  I do want to share these four concerns that I feel should be addressed by the Congress.

1. I was forced to pay out of pocket to attend my own Article 32 hearing. I was eventually reimbursed but I was given a hard time when I requested to be reimbursed and had to tell 3 people why I was traveling.  One questioned me on why the Coast Guard should pay for a personal matter.  Apparently you have to be rich to bring forward any charges against a rapist in the Coast Guard. Unless you are sitting on a pile of cash forget about having your parents or anyone there to support you.

2.  The retaliation was worst than the rape.  Almost everyone from an E-2 to an O-7 called me a liar.

3. After reporting my rape I was the one transferred not my rapist. You’ll think that the Coast Guard would have some common sense and not transfer a rape victim away from her friends and a unit she is familiar with. In addition to being the odd new girl that left early for counseling I felt even more isolated because I was at a new unit and in a new city.

4. The Coast Guard does not allow non-Coast Guard victim advocates to serve as victim advocates. I requested Panayiota as my victim advocate and the Coast Guard denied it. Instead they gave me 3 different victim advocates within a year. By the time I felt comfortable with one they gave me a new one.  The irony of it all is that at times they did not know the answers to my questions and they’ll ask me to ask Panayiota and then requested to know what Panayiota has said so that they can know for future victims. Even though Panayiota was not allowed on base with me and at the hearing she was the only one that was stable in my life and the first person I emailed or called after getting any updates about my case.  All of the victim advocates were very nice people but I felt that they were not trained enough. Every other branch of the military allows non-military members to assist rape victims why doesn’t the Coast Guard?

Mother speaks out about her rape as one of the first female Naval Aircrew Members

Ellen, United States Navy

My teenage son plans to apply for West Point, and it is my dream to help leave a legacy for him, including a fair and safe military. As he and I have discussed his goals, I’ve come to realize that I should tell my story to prevent what happened to me in 1989, during my enlistment as one of the Navy’s first female aircrew member, to prevent this from happening to future generations.

I have reached out to MST Survivors through social media, joined forces to help our newest survivors, and rallied around the movement which supports measures like the Military Justice Improvement Act. The MJIA takes the reporting, investigation, adjudication and victim care for cases out of the local unit chain of command. In my case, no one could have helped me, while I remained under the command and control of the aircrew culture which collectively had no regard for my presence among them. It’s unconscionable to me that the same climate exists today, as when I didn’t report my rapes, believing that my rapes were planned as retaliation for invading the “all boys club.” Just like me more than 20 years ago, I’ve learned 90 percent of victims are still afraid to report.

My rape occurred after I was selected to be the first enlisted female to attend Air Crew School. It was 1988, when I was raped, and I had just finished technical training as a Cryptologist, when I was 19. I believe I was selected for aircrew training because I was expected to fail, being that I wasn’t the best student in my tech school. I was very young, and thought surely a senior female Cryptologist already in the fleet would be better qualified. But, I accepted the challenge, and enjoyed the aircrew, and survival, schools, required to fly as a Cryptologist. The first evidence of the discord I was walking into happened after training.

I was assigned to a Naval Air Squadron, in Spain. On the first night at my new squadron, a group of senior co-workers took me to a Sangria bar in town. That evening, my co-workers disappeared leaving me stranded in a bar, in a new country. Unaware of the stigma of placing a female among the crew, I couldn’t understand why I was left behind? Trying to find my way back to the barracks, I felt very confused and frightened.

My first deployment from Spain, was to Athens Greece. As the only female of a 25 man crew, it quickly became clear that I had invaded a very tight fraternity, and my presence was resented. During the first night there, I was told that every time a newbie deploys they go out for “six shots of tequila.” I decided to go through with the initiation; my plan was to return to my room to sleep off the alcohol. It wasn’t uncommon for underage service members to drink while deployed during those days. But the next day, I learned I’d suffered a very different fate than a simple drinking-game initiation into the aircrew.

A female officer who had a room next to mine pulled me aside to tell me she heard men coming back from the bars, and knocking on my hotel door, throughout the night. Each time she opened her door they went away. I was horrified. The female officer made a report to our command, and an executive order immediately came down that our squadron prohibited all initiation drinking games, now that women were flying. From then on, I was totally isolated. Rumors were spreading that I had slept with more than one of the men on the aircrew. When their wives were present, I was avoided, and not included in social circles. My fellow air crew members avoided talking to me, and if they did, it was impersonal. I never felt so alone, like a stranger in a strange land.

Eventually, I was sent on another deployment to Greece. I felt I could manage my interactions with people to ensure what happened on my first deployment, didn’t happen again. So one evening, when I was asked by a quiet, married crew member to join him for a drink, I felt it was a safe, low-risk opportunity to socialize. The last thing I remember is having one drink with this man. I am confident I was drugged. The following morning I woke up black, blue and purple from head to toe. I had severe bruising and swelling between my legs. My vagina was raw. I was covered with vomit and bodily fluids. The man I had had one drink with was still there. But the bruising and the mess that was made in the night told me, there had been more than one visitor to my room. I soaked in a bath to rid myself of the disgustingness that was done to my body. I put on a turtle neck under my flight-suit to hide my bruised neck, and went to work broken.

We flew a very long mission that day, and no one made eye contact with me. I was convinced that all the male officers and enlisted, who wanted to get to me after the tequila initiation, finally got their chance to rape me. Maybe they did, maybe they didn’t, I will never know because I was too afraid to tell, and the situation was never investigated. I’m haunted by the possibility of what might have happened to me, unprotected, alone and betrayed. And I’m haunted by what did happen. Betrayal by someone I thought could be a safe place during a deployment, someone I could just talk to about our work, and the next day’s mission. I knew telling would cause me to lose my job; I was so young and afraid of these older, married aircrew members and their wives. Without proof, I’d most likely be charged with underage drinking, and feared even worse repercussions than social isolation that happened due to false rumors.

Once we returned to Spain from deployment, I was harassed by wives and girlfriends. They all suspected that I was having an affair with all of their spouses! I couldn’t reconcile how one man drugging and raping me, equated to the escalation of social stigmatization. I was dating a service member who had returned back to the states. Rumors reached him and he broke up with me. I never tried to explain my story to him, due to shame. As a result, my performance didn’t meet standards, and I was removed from air crew. I was placed in jobs where I didn’t have much contact with people. Thankfully, a female Master Chief took me under her wing. She was Christian so I started attending church at missionary houses, and was eventually baptized. I also met a very nice group of runners and tri-athletes whom I bonded with, and spent most time, off training, practicing to meet physical training standards, and races.

I believe God saved me from hurting myself, during the aftermath, by sending me compassionate people to help me. I separated from active duty in 1992, when I was 21; returned home and immediately joined the reserves and started college, repressing all of the sexual harassment, the personal attacks, and the rapist. My time in the reserves was very positive. Without stress, I was able to flourish, learn, and earn the respect of my co-workers. I was even selected to serve at a Joint Task Force several times to work in anti-narcotics. In 1994, I married, and in 1997 we had our first child. So, I decided to leave the reserves. Over the years I have not been able to forget my attack. I’ve had random bouts of anger when I’ve realize what I was cheated out of back in Spain. My innocence taken, my body defiled my reputation in ruins. I have struggled with depression, anxiety, and detachment from post traumatic stress disorder. I can’t fly in an aircraft without being heavily medicated, or I have severe unmanageable panic attacks. When I see aircraft flying above me I’m triggered. I do have shame for not reporting my attack, shame from taking part in underage drinking. I have health consequences, bladder conditions, and fibromyalgia. All of which stems from the horrific rape and aftermath I survived.

When I hear of the suicidality, errant mental health diagnosis, homelessness and poverty today’s MST Survivors are enduring, I wonder what I would have done, had I not had such an incredible support system with my husband who agreed that I should stay home to raise a family. I’ve found peace, as much as possible, in burying myself in my family life. I’ve dedicated myself to a life of service fostering 13 medically-fragile newborns, and working with a non-profit in Washington State to advocate for foster children. And yet, in my heart of hearts, I know that I have not reached my full potential, according to who I am as a woman, because of my fears of leaving the safe inner circle of my family. I know that thousands of survivors suffer a much worse fate.

More than twenty years later, it’s clear nothing has changed, things have gotten worse, and something must be done about this, now. Getting injured in the line of duty is one thing. But enabling a rapist, tolerating a culture which tolerates them, where they can hide undetected, is another. I believe it is our duty to speak out, and demand our government right these wrongs. It is unfortunate that to make this need a reality, it is necessary for me to share this very intimate, and personal tragedy, but it clearly is necessary.

Thank you for letting me share my story.

U.S Sailor Gang Raped

Anonymous, United States Navy

On 16 November 2011 I was sitting at the ER at the Dayton VA and this male Veteran approached me and asked me “to go out back and have sex with him”. I said “what”, he said “let’s go out back and fuck”. It brought back all my memories that I had hidden for so many years. I just got up and went back home and took an extra 2 diazepam. I was at the ER for my anxiety in the first place. It brought back so many memories of what happened to me when I was active duty and what happened to my children.

First, it was in June 5th 1982, I was 18, and at my first duty station in Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. I lived in the Bundy Barracks and worked for the Navy Exchange, (I ran a mini store at the main barracks). One night a friend named Sara asked me to go to the Seabee Club with her so I went one Saturday night, I remember we were talking to a couple of guys who had bought us a couple of cokes, I believe my coke was drugged because the next thing I remember was being at the bus stop alone the next morning waiting for a bus to be taken back to the Bundy Barracks. I do not remember what happened to Sara. As I was sitting there waiting for the bus I was having vivid memories of different men having sex with me, I did not know who they were or that they even knew me. I do not remember faces; all I could see in my mind was that there were several men. I have no clue as to whom or where I even was the night before or even how I got there.

The vivid memories I now have are of different men’s penises in my mouth and in my vagina at different times throughout the night. I remember I was in such a daze in and out. My body was limp and I remember just lying there with no control over anything I did or was being done to me. I remember being dragged from one bed to another I was completely out of it. I remember being at work the next Monday and this guy came in and told me everything that had happened I did not realize that all that had happened. He told me that at least 25 different guys had sex with me.

I then went to the Naval Hospital and was told that if I was to report it that I would be put out of the Navy because it was destruction of government property and that it was my fault for being at the club. I also became pregnant and was diagnosed with Herpes. I was also transferred from the department to MWR, because I didn’t fit in to the NEX as what I was told.

Second around August of 1982 this one guy wanted to date me, and I was to have sex with him or he would get my friend in trouble (he was base police), I did not want it nor did I like it but I felt coerced into doing it. That had occurred a few times. I was transferred to the gym to work I remember one day I was walking to work (I did not have a car) and these guys drove by me and yelled out hey that is the chick we all fucked that one night, (my pregnancy was showing at this time).

Third time was between November and December 1982; the boss at the gym (***** *****) made me perform oral sex. I went to my Sr. Military Officer and he told me that it was my word against the civilians and no one would believe me, he told me that if I perused it I would lose my career and how would I support my child and myself without the military. So I did not fight for my rights yet again. I then remember I was stationed at Gt. Lakes Naval Hospital, where as I was the administration assistant to a Lt. who was the department head. He and I worked in the same small office. He made sexual advances toward me all the time. Told me I would have great evaluations and he could do a lot for me if I did certain sexually things. I kept telling him no. Because of all the above I have never been in a “real” relationship. I spent most of my time with my children watching movies, playing kids games and doing kid things.

In September 1989, I received orders to Guantanamo Bay Cuba, and I had to leave my children behind until I received base housing. I worked with this Sr. Chief Corpsman for over a year he said he and his wife would take care of them. I paid them $1500.00, took over clothes and dropped my children and their clothes off with them. I came back 35 days later and picked up my kids to find them bruised and balled spots on their heads. Took them to a friend’s house (Dental Tech Chief), I put my kids in the bath and they had bruises all over them and cigar burns on their bottoms, I then took my kids to the Naval Hospital to get pictures taken and contacted NIS.

There were reports done, my girls ages 6 and 3 were both sexually abused and my 2 year old son was also. It took me 6 months to get my son to sleep on a bed and use a blanket and pillow. He would crawl in a corner and scream instead of going to sleep. November 1989 I started going to the Naval Hospital Mental Health Department and started medication for Depression and anxiety, due to the sexual, physical, emotional abuse my children suffered. My children were beat with a wooden spoon; my youngest two had bald spots all over their heads. My middle daughter was made to eat like a dog on the floor; she was also thrown down concrete stairs and hit a concrete wall at the bottom of the stairs with no medical attention and has caused brain damage. My middle daughter had gone through many tests when she was 4, for brain damage and she was place on ritalin at age 4, and diagnosed as Mental Retarded at age 9 and Borderline Personality Disorder at age 18. She has been so hard to deal with her behavior has been so out of control several times I have had to call the police but they told me since she is not being abused there is nothing that they can do. I did all that I could do that I had to give up guardianship a few years ago because I could not handle it any more. She is 27 and still requires 24/7/365 care.

Since I got out of the Navy, in 1992, I have been homeless 5 times and have moved 13 times because I don’t feel comfortable where I was living. I’ve had at least 16 jobs since I have been out of the Navy. I have not ever worked in the field of social work, which I have my degree in.

Senior Airman raped in Okinawa

Sarah, United States Air Force

It all began 22 March 2003. I landed in a foreign land as a technical school graduate. After departing my flight I got settled into this new land called Okinawa. When I finally got acclimated to the shop I met my first supervisor, Staff Sergeant ***** Our first supervisor/trainee session was at CoCo’s, the local curry shop. Since this was all new to me, I thought that this was how bonds were built between the ranks. Then **** began telling me about all of his heterosexual and homosexual relationships he had been having on the island. Mind you, this man was married with a child. I began to feel like this encounter was not going as it should and was feeling very uncomfortable about the topic.

After our food came he propositioned me. He said, “If you have sex with me I will give you a five out of five on your performance report. If not, I will give you a one and take away all hopes of your having any type of successful career in the military.” I held off on his advances. Every day I worked with him was a day I would dread. He would ask questions such as: “If this tool were my penis, what would you do with it?” I avoided him at all costs. There was only one other female in the shop. One day we were having a drink and ****’s  name was mentioned and I told her what was going on. Later she informed the Flight Chief without my knowledge. The next thing I knew, I was being questioned in the Flight Chief’s office and I told him everything that was going on. He changed my shift and supervisor. Then he swept the incident under the rug because it was clear that Staff Sergeant **** was the flight’s golden child who received all of the awards.

I’m not quite sure whether I developed an allergy to jet fuel or if it had something to do with all the stress I was under in my shop. Either way, I could no longer do my duty as a fuel system mechanic. In October I began working for the squadron doing odds and ends jobs. In March the dorm needed an escort to take Okinawans in and out of the dorm rooms so they could work on the fire suppression system. I began working with the contractors and one of the men began to become very friendly with me. I just ignored his behavior, not seeing him as threatening. He would point to his penis and say “piku, piku.” I ignored him because I didn’t know what that meant.

Then on 29 March 2004 we went to room 145 of building 600. I was reading a Playstation magazine article about a samurai video game. He came over and asked to look at the article. I showed it to him and he took his phone out and showed me a picture of his baby daughter. Then he put his phone away and grabbed my shoulders and started to rub them. I pushed his hands away and made an “X” with my arms and told him to go back to work. Then he grabbed my breasts and began rubbing them. I made an “X” with my arms and told him no and to go back to work. Then he grabbed for my BDU (battle dress uniform) pants and unbuttoned them and began stroking my groin area with his fingers. I pushed him away and made an “X” and told him to work. Then I pulled out my phone and texted my boyfriend at the time who then stayed with me the rest of the shift. That was on a Friday. On Monday, my boyfriend informed the dorm chief what had transpired on Friday.

I begged to speak with my First Sergeant but was denied. First the dorm chief spoke with the lead contractor. He brushed it off. Then she received approval from her squadron to call the security forces and they showed up along with the Okinawan police. I identified my attacker out of a lineup and continued asking to speak with my First Sergeant. Then the Okinawan police took me back to the room and had me reenact everything while they took pictures. At this point I still had not seen or spoken with my First Sergeant and the Okinawan police took me to their police station. They allowed no English speaking person to be with me at any time. My squadron Commander, First Sergeant, and Flight Chief were all too busy to come to the police station to find out what was going on. So the squadron sent a random Staff Sergeant whom I had never met to assist me in any way he could. Once again I had to identify my attacker from another lineup. I gave my statement and signed something that I think was what I had said to the police officers, however I wasn’t sure because it was all in kanji, the written language of Japan.

After the Okinawan police had finished their questioning, I had to go to the Military Law Enforcement Desk, which instructed me to return the next day. When I returned, I had to first give my statement to a detective, and then I had to write my statement out completely. After all that, I was finally allowed to see my First Sergeant. After I began talking to the First Sergeant, he pulled me into the Commander’s office. My Commander told me I was too emotional for the situation and that he didn’t want me in “his” military. He then called the mental health clinic and began asking how he could get me discharged from the military. So the process of being separated from the service began while I was dealing with the sexual assault. After that I met with the military prosecutor and again told the details of my traumatic event. Finally I made it to the Okinawan prosecutor. He told me the man who had sexually assaulted me would not be tried.

I was told by this prosecutor that it was my attacker’s first time and that because his wife had just had a baby, what he had done to me was ok. At this juncture, the people above me tried discharging me from the military on two separate occasions and they failed each time. After three years in Japan, I was sent to McChord AFB in Lakewood, WA. I was working with a therapist on getting over my trauma overseas. And then, while at home one day, I was raped. I was the head coach of the squadron soccer team and one of the players was a Master Sergeant in my flight. There had been a couple of complaints about his behavior to Military Equal Opportunity, information I wish I had known beforehand. On the last Friday of April we played a hard game and lost, not surprising since we didn’t win any games that season. I went home as usual, cleaned up and sprawled out on my futon to watch a movie.

I received a couple of phone calls from a Master Sergeant **** asking me to go out to a bar with him. I told him no and that I was going to sleep. Around 10:00 p.m. I received a knock on the door. I looked out the peephole, saw that it was Master Sergeant ****, and thinking something important was going on I opened the door. From that point on my life was in fast forward to pause to slow motion to the end. When I opened the door I could smell the booze on his breath. He grabbed my arm and took me to my bedroom. He threw me on my bed and tore off my clothes. He held a knife to my throat. I asked him what he was doing. He didn’t answer.

Then I froze. Within a split second, I had flashbacks of every trauma I had ever experienced. Then he was on top of me with his pants down and he began the act of raping me. He first began by inserting his penis into my vagina. It seemed like he was rocking back and forth forever. Then he told me to tell him that I wanted him to cum inside me. Wanting things to end, I said it. Then he came. Then he flipped me over and began to sodomize me. I just remember the pain and then him telling me to say the same phrase to him again. So I complied again. He pulled his black boxers and black Levis up. He then hit me a couple of times and told me no one must know of our relationship. So I kept quiet.

About the end of May I had been drinking and when someone mentioned Master Sergeant ***, I began to cry and told them I had been raped by him. Little did I know that by revealing this information, I would eventually be victimized again by deceit and falsehoods. In late July my Commander promised to hold my hand during an entire Office of Special Investigations inquiry. I believed her, but unfortunately that turned out to be a blatant lie. When I finally gathered up enough courage to talk to the investigators, I let them know all that had happened. They did their investigation and then they called Master Sergeant **** in for questioning. He claimed that on the night in question, the team was going to a bar to hang out. He said he went to my place to pick me up to go with, but that I had told him I didn’t want to go and that we sat and had a drink. Once the Commander heard his story she backed away from me and said she couldn’t choose sides. She then told me that his wife had just had a baby and that this was his first offense. She then assigned Master Sergeant **** to a workstation 100 yards away from mine which meant that I would have to see him each and every day when I left or came to work. Some days he would approach me and I would have anxiety attacks. Other times I was forced to be in the same room with him. That year I was hospitalized in the psychiatric unit seven separate times. The Commander grew angry and told me that I needed to have bearing and to start behaving like a good Airman.

After being hospitalized a few times I lost all faith in the military and its elite brotherhood through thick and thin and requested a medical discharge. I missed out on making rank—something I had been looking forward to—but I thought I would be able to stop reliving the trauma with the military no longer there. That did not work. Sometimes I get down on myself, thinking I didn’t go to war so why do I get to be a veteran? I did what only one percent of the general population does. I signed that dotted line and said I would march into battle for my country if called upon. I just wasn’t called upon. Because of the traumatic experiences I had on the homefront, I had to take care of that first before they would send me to any more traumatic places, which is why I still am a veteran. I am proud to be a veteran. I think all veterans should be proud. I’ve been in inpatient psychiatric units on approximately ten separate occasions. When you are in the inpatient unit, you are stripped of everything, given pajamas to wear all day, and are medicated. When you’re in the unit you cannot leave for any reason other than a discharge. There is a possibility that you can be put into four-point restraints. Once you become stable enough to return to real life, they then release you. But what is real life when you live with post-traumatic stress disorder?

GUN REGISTRATION ALWAYS LEADS TO GUN CONFISCATION

Protesters burn gun registration forms

March 16, 2014 6:10 pm  •  MICHAEL GOOT — mgoot@poststar.com

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Nearly a thousand gun registration forms were turned into ashes Sunday.

The forms are used for people to register with New York State Police firearms that meet the state’s definition of military-style assault weapons. The deadline is April 15. Gun rights advocates gathered at the Saratoga-Wilton Elks Lodge 161 to burn the papers in a symbolic protest.

E.J. Stokes, leader of the Warren County chapter of New York Revolution, said he was participating because he believes in the U.S. Constitution.

“Once the Second (Amendment) falls, the rest will go with it. It’s an unconstitutional law, done in the middle of the night with no input from the public,” he said.

The event was organized by the NY2A Grassroots Coalition. NY2A co-founder Jake Palmateer said the goal is for people not to register their assault weapon as an act of civil disobedience.

“We are opposed to registration because the evidence is clear that registration leads to confiscation,” he said.

He and others hope that so few people will fill out the forms, that the registry portion of the SAFE Act “collapses under its own weight.”

He estimates that less than 3,000 New York assault weapons have been registered and he says Sate Police estimated that there are several hundred thousand. The gun industry believes the number may be high as 1.2 million, according to Palmateer.

He added that similar gun control legislation in Canada proved to be unworkable.

The second purpose of the event was to kick off advocacy efforts for the 2014 election. NY2A will be vetting Assembly and Senate candidates for their stance on gun rights.

“Make sure we are putting people in who are pro-civil rights. Ultimately, this is a civil rights issue,” he said.

The SAFE Act infringes on due process rights, the right to privacy and the right to equal protection under the law, according to Palmateer.

About 230 people attended a forum to discuss the issue before the burning. Similar forums held across the state have been well attended, Palmateer said. Gun groups will be holding a big rally April 1 at the state Capitol.

Kevin Sisson, a Carlisle councilman in Schoharie County, said he and others are defending the Constitution.

“We are not extremists,” he said. “We are simply free men who love our country.”

St. Patrick’s Day should start with good news – and today we have plenty! So far during this campaign, we are aware of …… 142 babies who, through your prayers and the Lord’s mercy, have been saved from abortion.

40d21Praise God!

Here are more stories of lives permanently changed on the sidewalks outside the abortion centers.

——————————————————-
TEMPE, ARIZONA
——————————————————-

We’ve heard much good news from Tempe.

When prayer volunteers asked two young women if they wanted to talk, their answer was, “Yes. We heard you say you offer free ultrasounds.” Lisa in Tempe said the girls had become frustrated, as Planned Parenthood was running three hours behind schedule.

After the one who was considering abortion received information and a gift bag, she told Lisa she was going to keep her baby, “and went to one of our local pregnancy centers for genuine help.”

A mother and daughter pulled up to a volunteer holding a sign that said, “Pregnant? We can help.” As the mother got out of the car, the volunteer offered pro-life resources. She held out her hand, took the information without a word, got back in the car and drove away.

Two groups of women who were both there with friends scheduled for abortions came over and talked about options for their friends. They received literature and called their friends inside to talk to them. Both women left without having an abortion.

Lisa said, “Your continued prayers and witness will bring Christ to those who have become lost because of ‘choice.’”

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA

In Cedar Rapids, a woman showed up early for her appointment at Planned Parenthood. “She was not pregnant,” Jim said, “and was going there for some other type of appointment.”

She told volunteers that she had come about a year ago, planning to have an abortion. But the sight of the people praying made her decide against it. She now has a 4-month-old daughter and is very happy.

“Although we suspect there were many other saves in the past,” Jim said, “this was the first confirmed one in Cedar Rapids. It makes us feel like the cold weather we had last spring was well worth it!”

——————————————————-
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS
——————————————————-

Rita tells us there were two babies saved in Boston on one day. “Sidewalk counsellors were joined by a large group of people praying and singing hymns,” she said, “and many were holding 40 Days for Life signs.”

Volunteers rejoiced when a woman came out of Planned Parenthood and said, “Your prayers have been answered. I’m not going to do it.” And then it happened again!

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! Newly Formed Muslim Coalition Seeks Greater Clout in U.S. Elections

(CNSNews.com) – Ten U.S. Islamic organizations have formed a new umbrella group to serve as a “representative voice” for American Muslims, and one of their first tasks will be to carry out a census of the community.

Other focus areas for the new U.S. Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO), according to speakers at the body’s launch in Washington on Wednesday, include enhancing Muslim political engagement and participation in forthcoming elections, civil rights issues, combating “Islamophobia” and having an impact on U.S. foreign and domestic policy.

Participating organizations include high-profile groups that have been dogged by controversy, such as the Muslim American Society (MAS), founded by Muslim Brotherhood members, and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which was named by the Justice Department in 2007 as “unindicted co-conspirators” in its case against the Holy Land Foundation in Texas, subsequently found guilty of raising money for Hamas.

“The new national council’s first priority will be to build on Muslim citizenship rights by conducting a census of American Muslims to create a database that will be used to enhance civic and political participation in upcoming elections,” USCMO said in a statement.

CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad, a participant at the launch, said that Muslim organizations in 2011 had come up with a “guesstimate” of seven to eight million Muslims in the United States.

“Opponents of the Muslim community shot down the number for political reasons, to two-and-a-half, two million, and sometimes people even said half a million,” he said.

The aim of the census project would be to determine a clear idea of the number and distribution of American Muslims, by 2016.

“Muslim voters can be swing voters in key elections, especially in 2016, and we are aiming at that election to bring a more visible participation from the Muslim community,” Awad said.

Another participant, Osama Abu Irshaid of American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), said Muslims “are a growing demographic, numbering in the millions, and it is time to organize ourselves so that we can fully participate productively and efficiently in the political process.”

Abu Irshaid said American Muslims’ purchasing power exceeds $170 billion, “but we want to be more than consumers in this country.”

“We want to fully participate and engage in the civic process. We also want to ward off the evils of bigotry and Islamophobia and begin to define ourselves instead of allowing others – who don’t understand us, who fear us and even hate us – tell us how we should live and worship in this country.”

Abu Irshaid said bringing American Muslims into the political process “can only enrich American foreign policy and enrich our domestic policy as well.”

One prominent anti-Islamist Muslim described the move as “a circling of the wagons” by the nation’s top Islamist organizations.

“If they were going to start an American Islamist political party those would be the founders,” the president of the non-profit American Islamic Forum for Democracy, M. Zuhdi Jasser, said early Thursday.

The USCMO launch was a sign that Islamists were “feeling the heat,” Jasser said.

“America is both getting tuned in to their anti-American agenda as well as also realizing that far more diverse anti-Islamist American Muslim groups – like our American Islamic Leadership Coalition – can provide alternative and authentic Muslim voices beyond the Islamists.”

Although a woman emceed the event, no women were visible among the leaders of the organizations at the launch. USCMO Secretary-General Oussama Jammal said the new body’s stated priorities include “empowering women by developing and supporting their leadership skills, seeking appointment of Muslim women to leadership positions, and also involving women at all levels of our community organizations and expressions.”

The founding members of the new umbrella group are The Mosque Cares, Muslim American Society, American Muslims for Palestine, Council on American-Islamic Relations, Islamic Circle of North America, Muslim Legal Fund of America, Muslim Alliance in North America, Muslim Ummah of North America, American Muslim Alliance and the Mosque Foundation of Chicago.

How many Muslims?

The size of the Muslim American community has been a point of contention.  The U.S. Census Bureau does not collect religious data, but the 2008 American Religious Identification Survey, conducted by scholars at Trinity College, found the number of American adults self-identifying as Muslims to be 1.35 million, up from 1.1 million in 2001.

In 2010, the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life put the number of Muslims in the U.S. at 2.77 million.

In his “address to the Muslim world” in Cairo the previous year, however, President Obama made reference to “nearly seven million American Muslims in our country” – drawing applause for doing so from an American Muslim leader at the time.

The seven million figure has been attributed to a CAIR-sponsored 2001 survey of leaders from a representative sample of mosques, which concluded that two million Muslims were associated with a mosque (with “association” defined as at least attending Eid, the major Islamic holiday at the end of Ramadan).

Based on that number, the survey authors concluded that “estimates of a total Muslim population of 6-7 million in America seem reasonable.”

The Islamic Society of North America states that there are “close to seven million Muslims” in the U.S.

Why Did the Obama ATF Raid This Gun Parts Store?

March 17, 2014 By

http://www.tpnn.com/2014/03/17/update-judge-reverses-restraining-order-atf-raids-gun-parts-store-for-customers-names/

ATF

Last week, TPNN reported that the ATF was demanding that the owner of a gun parts store in California turn over the names of 5,000 customers who bought parts for their AR-15s. The store owner, Dimitri Karras, a former Marine, refused the demand and sought a restraining order to keep the ATF from the records.

However, on Saturday the ATF raided the gun parts store and confiscated computers and other assorted inventory. It’s also been reported that customers who left the establishment have been harassed in the days leading up to the raid with plainclothes officers asking about the nature of the business each customer had with Ares Armor.

The ATF raiders stormed the establishment with automatic weapons drawn and full body armor and rooted through the entire establishment, even cracking open the store’s safe.

Though the store was granted a restraining order, it has been reported that Federal Judge Janis L. Sammartino soon bowed to political pressures and modified her original restraining order to allow the ATF to conduct a raid on Ares Armor and collect the information on thousands of law-abiding customers.
The raid on Ares Armor had been captured on video by patriots and has been shared on YouTube. The ATF also took pictures of the protesters that had accumulated outside the store. (SEE VIDEO OF THE RAID BELOW);
Raid

The heavy-handedness of the ATF should serve as a terrifying illustration of tyrannical government to all patriots. The Second Amendment is more than a privilege, it is a guaranteed right that is irrevocable by government thugs.

The Costs of Obama’s Weakness

Tea Party News Network Banner

March 18, 2014 By

Weak-ObamaWhen George Mallory was asked in 1924 why he wanted to climb Mount Everest, he snapped, “Because it is there.”  Fourteen years later, Adolf Hitler might well have given the same answer if asked why he wanted to annex the Sudetenland.  And nearly a century later, Vladimir Putin is swallowing up the Crimea for the same reason: Because it is there for taking.  Putin knows when it comes to invading and annexing the Crimea, no one is going to stop him.

Consider the three candidates you might think at first glance would stand in Vladimir Putin’s path.  First, there’s Ukraine.  But its military is no match for Moscow.

Second, there’s the European Union.  But Western Europe’s anemic military budgets have taken a back seat to welfare spending in once-great nations that have said since World War II, “We’ll sit this one out; we gave at the office between 1939 and 1945.”

Third, there’s the United States.  But it is led by the weakest, most feckless, least intimidating President in the history of the republic.  As Russian dissident Garry Kasparov recently said, “Obama makes Jimmy Carter look like Winston Churchill.”  Putin knows that Crimea is there for the taking because he knows Barack Obama would rather collect Nobel Peace Prizes than stand up for American allies and interests and values.

This weak excuse for a President isn’t about to “fight on the beaches”; he only fights in courtrooms defending Obamacare and on the stump excoriating wealth and success.  He isn’t offering “blood, toil, tears, and sweat”; he’s only offering cheaper student loans and free birth control.  He isn’t chomping on a cigar and praising his countrymen during their “finest hour”; he’s wearing mom jeans and apologizing for his countrymen to the rest of the world.

Whereas Vladimir Putin is a Cold Warrior, Barack Obama is a class warrior.  When he declares that “we’re going to punish our enemies and we’re going to reward our friends,” the enemies he’s talking about are entrepreneurs with the audacity to think they actually built their business, and the friends he’s talking about are the adoring fans of this Celebrity-in-Chief.  His style of warfare plays well among union leaders and community organizers, but it isn’t much help against KGB-agents-turned-lawless-dictators intent on territorial expansion.

Don’t get me wrong – I don’t want to go to war over Crimea.  America shouldn’t be the world’s policeman.  Instead, what I want is a president who projects strength.  I want a president who understands that weakness provokes aggression.  I want a president who doesn’t draw red lines he can’t back up; who protects our diplomats from terrorists in places like Benghazi; who invests in militarily necessary projects and soldiers; who isn’t afraid to make a detainee stand on his feet for a few hours during an interrogation; and who doesn’t telegraph his spinelessness by flip-flopping for political reasons on everything from gay marriage to campaign matching funds to the individual mandate.

In his best imitation of a real leader, President Obama has vowed that “there will be costs” to Putin’s aggression in Crimea.  I doubt it.  But there are costs to American weakness.  Sadly, the people of Crimea are paying those costs.
