School Decides Not to Play National Anthem Before Championship Game, So Crowd Starts Singing

The NFL announced last week it would require players who are on the field before the game to stand for the national anthem. The decision sparked a lot of contentious debate in the media, which made us wonder: Do Americans still believe it’s important to play the anthem before games?

flag on the fieldWell, if what happened recently in Fresno, California is any indication, fans still consider “The Star-Spangled Banner” to be an integral part of the game — so much so they were willing to sing it even though event organizers wanted to skip it.

According to the Fresno Bee, the situation in question happened when Clovis High School and Buchanan High were playing a championship game at the softball diamond at Fresno State University.

When an announcement was made that there would be no anthem before the game, the crowd was genuinely upset. In fact, they actually started booing.

“Honestly, I was shocked (when) the announcer stated, ‘There will be no anthem, let’s just play softball,’” fan Tiffany Marquez of Fowler, Calif., told the Bee.

But instead of just booing, the crowd broke into song.

“Within seconds, you could hear people in the crowd singing and the volume of their voices building,” Marquez said. “There I was, standing in the middle of a true testament to unity and patriotism.”

According to David White of the Bee, it was an incredible sight.

“Hundreds of softball fans took to their feet and spangled away, singing the anthem a capella while the players on the field stood at attention toward the centerfield flag,” White said.

White said the crowd’s reaction was a powerful message of what the anthem means to people.

“Oh say, can’t you see? The national anthem and the flag it adores still matter to a whole lot of people, and they take it personal when anyone comes between them and the star-kissed stripes. Some are obnoxious, ugly Americans, no doubt. Most of the others happen to think you can stand against social injustice (we do) and stand for the national anthem (we do, too),” White wrote. “Since when did the concepts become so mutually exclusive? Does anyone think anthem protests have started anything more than an argument that can’t be won?”

We wholeheartedly agree.

The national anthem protests in the NFL have accomplished little more than shaving a few points off the league’s TV ratings and make its partners antsy. Have the protests made us aware that some people are unhappy with certain aspects of this country? We already knew that.

Did their wholesale rejection of one of the unifying symbols of this country engender any more sympathy for them for those sitting on the fence? Not a whit. What it did was turn fans away in droves — and the free market eventually spoke.

There are very few things that we can come together about as Americans. Our anthem ought to be one of them.

When an entire crowd can sing along when the song is omitted, we know there’s something special and unifying about “The Star-Spangled Banner” — and those who died defending it. That’s something to remember this Memorial Day.

A look at California’s AB 2943, outlawing “sexual orientation change efforts”

rainbow gay pride flag

Assembly Bill 2943 is currently winding its way through California’s state legislature, and many religious leaders and free speech advocates are sounding the alarm about the possible ramifications if it should pass. The proposed legislation is entitled “Unlawful Business Practices: Sexual Orientation Change Efforts“. The bill adds “sexual orientation change efforts” to the state’s Consumer Legal Remedies Act.

The key passages are as follows:

(i) (1) “Sexual orientation change efforts” means any practices that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation. This includes efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex.

… (a) The following unfair methods of competition and unfair or deceptive acts or practices undertaken by any person in a transaction intended to result or that results in the sale or lease of goods or services to any consumer are unlawful…

(28) Advertising, offering to engage in, or engaging in sexual orientation change efforts with an individual.

The problem with the rules (as is so often the case with California regulations) is that the scope is so broad that materials as activities could be construed to meet the definition of “sexual orientation change efforts”. One need look no farther than our coffee houses, which are now decorated with cancer warnings, to appreciate the understandable concern religious leaders, conservatives, and those with common sense have over the proposed measure.

Fox News host Todd Starnes reviewed AB2943, and noted that Alliance Defending Freedom called the potential for censorship is “staggering”.

  • A religious ministry could not hold a conference on maintaining sexual purity if the conference encourages attendees to avoid homosexual behavior;

  • A bookstore (even online bookstores) could not sell many recently published books challenging gender identity ideology and advocating that these beliefs should be rejected by society;

  • A pastor paid to speak at an event addressing current social topics could not encourage attendees that they can prevail over same-sex desires or feelings that they were born the wrong sex.

The measure is quietly making its way to the state senate, for the next phase in implementation. To assuage the concerns now being voiced about the potential to outlaw the Bible and other faith-based material, “fact-checkers” cite that religious texts aren’t mentioned. The Federalist contributor Robert Gagnon explains why this approach is sneaky:

Read the bill. There is no religious exemption. There is no restriction to mental health professionals. There is not even a restriction to claims about changing a person’s sexual orientation or transgender feelings in whole or part. The bill is quite clear that any “efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions” are included in the ban on attempts to change a person’s “sexual orientation.”

So you would be violating the law if you advertise that Christ can empower people not to engage in homosexual practice or not to identify as “gay” or “transgenderbecause such behaviors and self-identities are morally wrong, or if you offer to engage or actually engage in efforts to persuade people of Christ’s power to transform in this area, you will be in violation of California AB 2943, at least so long as your advertising or efforts involved in any way an exchange of money for goods or services.

Furthermore, like most progressive policies, the rules could end up hurting those it was intended to help.

The broad nature of AB 2943 also fails to consider those LGBT individuals who may seek help in their efforts to refrain from acting on certain inclinations. These individuals would be denied professional and personal help under AB 2943.

The policy would also affect transgender persons who later cease identifying with the opposite sex and wish to transition back to their biological gender. Under AB 2943, such individuals would be categorically denied the help and support they desire.

Should this bill be signed into law, there is a little hope that the rest of the nation will be spared further California insanity. Another #CalExit proposal has now been cleared for the signature gathering process.

Forthcoming Law In California Could Ban The Sale of Bibles In The State

Reported by

It could only happen in California but they are considering a law to make any book or reading material that advocates for traditional marriage and sexuality. That would include the Bible.

So what’s going on in California follows a familiar pattern? Indoctrinating children, using violence to shut down your opponents and to intimidate them and now they’re ready to burn books. That’s exactly what Hitler did in the 1930s and anyone who is surprised by what is going on in California just hasn’t been paying attention.

Well, somebody better start paying attention and soon.

But what if someone decided for themselves that they want to change? A priest or a pastor could face legal consequences if they were to help them. In a normal state that wouldn’t be a worry but this is California and if you believe they wouldn’t face charges, you are sadly mistaken.

They will never miss a chance to bash God and religion.

From The Conservative Tribune

Shockingly, the proposed law could even be construed to make it illegal to sell Bibles, since they include verses that the far left finds unacceptable.

Assembly Bill 2943 would make it an ‘unlawful business practice’ to engage in ‘a transaction intended to result or that results in the sale or lease of goods or services to any consumer’ that advertise, offer to engage in, or do engage in ‘sexual orientation change efforts with an individual,’” explained National Review.

That’s a lot of legalese to digest, so let’s break it down. What the bill basically says is that anything that can be seen as trying to impact a person’s sexual orientation would be illegal to sell or offer.

“The bill then defines ‘sexual orientation change efforts’ as ‘any practices that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation. This includes efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex,” continued National Review (emphasis added).

California To Ban the Sale of Bibles?

When you think about the censorship and outright banning of books and opinions, do you imagine the United States of America? Or, more likely, does that kind of suppression strike you more as the tactics of communists or fascists that America has frequently fought against?

If liberal lawmakers in California get their way, that west coast state may be one step closer to being unrecognizable as part of the United States. A bill currently pending in the legislature would essentially ban the sale of books that include traditional Christian views on marriage and sexuality.

This would almost certainly include traditional Christian counseling services and books.

“Efforts to change behaviors” is where the real problem is. After all, almost all counseling and even common psychiatric care are intended to “change behaviors” in various ways.

If you think about it, that’s the entire reason people seek help in the first place: They want to stop drinking or becoming angry or, yes, having troubling thoughts about their sexuality.

It’s also worth pointing out that the bill as written would apply to people who are trying to change their own behavior. This would mean that if a person was struggling with same-sex behavior or sexual identity and they themselves wanted to change, it would be illegal for them to buy any book meant to help them with this. The problem here isn’t limited to Christian books. Bizarrely, the bill appears to put almost any counseling or psychiatric service in the cross-hairs.

For example, let’s say a man has the paraphilia of crossdressing or transvestism. For whatever reason, the person has become addicted to wearing women’s clothes and has found that showing up to work in high heels and a dress has a negative impact on his life. Setting aside any personal judgment about this lifestyle choice (how liberal of us), suppose he voluntarily seeks counseling to get a handle on this problem. Maybe he just wants to stop being addicted to cross-dressing in public.

It’s his own choice. Yet counselors or books intended to help him would be illegal because they’re “efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions,” in the words of the proposed law.

You might consider that example silly, but this concern is rather serious: If passed, it could only be a matter of time before the law’s extremely vague wording is used against traditional Christian teachings in the Bible.

Take Romans 1:26-27, for instance. This verse calls out homosexuality as “shameful” and encourages Christians to not act in this way.

Then there are 1 Peter 1:15-17, Romans 6:1, and Ephesians 4:22-24, all of which direct followers of Christianity to abstain from homosexuality even if they have those desires.

Let’s be extremely clear: The point of this article is not to lecture about gay lifestyles. There are an increasing number of gay conservatives who have reached their own conclusions about their beliefs, and many are on the front lines of the culture war.

You don’t even have to particularly agree with the Bible verses mentioned here to see the problem. Efforts like the proposed bill represent dangerous slippery slopes that would use the legislature to attack traditional beliefs, and even mainstream views that happen to be at odds with the far-left agenda. If nothing else, it’s an affront to the free exchange of ideas — yes, even ones that someone might dislike — and a censorship of speech.

“No one doubts that (Christianity’s) teachings on sexual morality are increasingly unpopular,” summarized National Review. “But they remain constitutionally protected, and no state legislature should be permitted to ban a ‘good’ (such as a book) or a ‘service’ (like counseling) that makes these arguments and provides them to willing, consenting consumers.”

It’s amazing that the same liberals who bemoan “government in the bedroom” eagerly jump at the chance to give the same government control over sexual and moral topics the moment it helps their cause.

Even non-Christians and political moderates need to fight against the new wave of suppression before a 21st-century iron curtain appears. Free speech is everyone’s fight.

CA Lawmaker Flees State Over Liberal Lunacy, Says Trump is…

By Warner Todd Huston April 19, 2018

Chuck DeVore, a one-time member of the California State Assembly has moved away from the Golden State saying that liberals have destroyed his once beautiful and bountiful home.

Not only does DeVore say that California is a cautionary tale, but he credits President Donald Trump with saving the rest of America from the same grizzly fate.

Former State Representative Chuck DeVore, who served in the legislature until retiring in 2010, has announced that he is done with his home state and is now a proud resident of the Lonestar State of Texas.

He moved right after he left the legislature, but a recent article by a pair of foolhardy leftists brought the reason he let into sharp focus.

“The reason why this is an issue right now, is you may have seen the CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey tweeted out a piece by Ruy Teixeira (contending that) California is the future and that California is this wonderful utopia,” DeVore said on Fox News.

DeVore continued saying, “and the reason that happened (according to Teixeira and co-author Peter Leyden) is they absolutely crushed the Republicans and conservatives in California, and now liberals run the place.”

DeVore recently appeared on Fox News to note why he left California: “If you’re a member of the working poor, if you’re anyone other than the elite from Silicon Valley and Hollywood, it’s tough to make ends meet, to put food on the table and put a roof over your head in California,” he said.

As Western Journalism reported:

First, he noted the poverty rate in California is 20.4 percent versus 14.7 percent in Texas, which is the second most populous U.S. state after California and also shares an extensive border (1,900 miles) with Mexico.

In other words, the Golden State’s poverty rate is 39 percent higher than the Lone Star State’s.

Additionally, DeVore noted that California for years has experienced a net out-migration, which has accelerated recently to over 100,000 people per year.

CNBC reported that a net 138,000 people left the state in the 12 months preceding July 2017, while Texas gained 79,000 people during the same time period, and Arizona added 63,000 new residents.

One of the main reasons people gave for leaving were California’s high taxes and housing costs.

DeVore also noted that he bought a house in Texas for $110,000 and that money got him a house many times larger than what he could have gotten for the same cost in California.

In an April 16 op-ed for Fox News, DeVore further explained why he left:

In 2011, after spending my adult life in California, working in the once-thriving aerospace industry there, serving 19 years in the state’s National Guard and six years in the legislature, I picked up my family and moved to Texas.

That home prices and rents in California average 55 percent higher than in Texas isn’t just due to the former’s good weather—the Golden State’s high taxes, capricious regulations, onerous lawsuit climate, and powerful unions all contribute to constraining the supply of new housing while jacking up the price of existing housing.

Further, California’s soaring unfunded pension liabilities to its all-powerful government labor unions are at least $477 billion with the annual shortfall to fund the pensions hitting about $5.4 billion a year by 2024—swamping rosy claims of a state budget surplus.

Lastly, California’s war on traditional and affordable domestic energy has resulted in among the highest energy costs in the nation, spurred on by high taxes and billions in greenhouse gas fees—fees earmarked to partially pay for a vastly oversold, over budget and years late high speed rail project that nervous voters are turning against.

DeVore concluded his op-ed saying that California “isn’t the future, rather, it’s what America’s 2016 election of Donald Trump saved the nation from becoming.”

California, DeVore said ending on a hopeful note, “is not a harbinger of things to come, but it will soon be an example of the fate we narrowly avoided.”

Of course, DeVore is exactly right. Just as he was posting his op-ed at Fox, the annual “Rich States, Poor States” study on the top performing (and bottom failing) states in the nation was released. And, probably unsurprisingly, the study finds California to be at the bottom of the heap in most metrics among our 50 states.

According to the study, California ranked at a low, low 47th among the 50 in economic outlook. The Golden State has the worst top marginal personal income tax in the country, the 40th worst corporate rate, and ranks 50th in personal income tax progressivity — meaning that the more you make the higher the rate is that they take.

It is also worst for employee freedom, is 50th in average worker’s compensation, and the worst right-to-work state of all.

A state that did even worse than California is Illinois. The Land of Lincoln ranked a dismal 48th in economic outlook — and I think that is generous. Vermont ranked in at 49th worst. And, also unsurprisingly, New York ranked dead last as 50th worse state for economic outlook.

What is the common denominator in these three worst states in the union? They are all dominated by liberals, of course.

Now that we have talked about some of the worst performers, here is the group’s video revealing the top ten best.

WINNING! California FORCED to Return 500+ Guns to Dealer After Seizing Them For…

Posted by GirlsJustWannaHaveGuns.com | on April 14, 2017

Former California Attorney General Kamala Harris said in a press release that a Fresno firearms dealer,  Albert Sheakalee, was arrested “due to a prior mental health hold.”  This prohibited him from owning firearms and allegedly landed him in the state’s Armed Prohibited Persons System (APPS) database.

Sheakalee had 541 firearms seized from his store after he was arrested.

Now, it seems the whole thing was done for political gain.

But the state never filed any charges. After receiving national media attention—including a press conference displaying all 541 guns—the case never moved forward.

“As far as I am concerned, it was a real political deal,” Sheakalee’s attorney, Mark Coleman, told the Fresno Bee. “(California Attorney General Kamala) Harris was running for senator.”

Harris, who won her Senate seat last November, said in 2015 that “removing firearms from dangerous and violent individuals who pose a threat to themselves and the public is a top priority for the California Department of Justice.”

Perhaps the state decided not to file charges when they realized Sheakalee had no criminal record, legally owned all his firearms, owned a retirement home, and was the retired budget director of Fresno Community Hospital.

Sheakalee’s attorney argued in court that the state neglected to notify his client of his ineligibility to own firearms until AFTER the raid took place. This was proven by using postal records.

Also noted was the fact that the DOJ broke a promise to Sheakalee to keep the raid confidential. They weren’t supposed to release anything until a court hearing determined whether he was mentally fit to own guns.

“The problem is with the way (the guns were seized),” Coleman said. “This has been a pretty traumatic experience for the family.”

All of Sheakalee’s firearms have been returned to him and his family, including 209 handguns, 88 shotguns, 234 rifles, 100,000 rounds of ammunition and 10 guns designated assault weapons under California law, including a .50 caliber bolt-action rifle.

While Sheakalee’s victory is cause to celebrate, misapplied prohibitions against firearms ownership for the mentally incompetent will continue to be a battle for the pro-gun community.

As Coleman pointed out to the Bee, targeting those seeking mental health care is “going to result in people refusing to seek mental health treatment” because they do not want to be in a database, causing “an incredible chilling effect.”

Clearly this was some liberal politician trying to make a point to get elected to office. The state should be paying MILLIONS in damages to this family.

Dennis Miller Posts Hilarious Idea for Trump to Get Warm Welcome in Calif… Dems Not Laughing

Leave it to Dennis Miller to cut right to the heart of the matter of President Donald Trump’s trip to the People’s Republic of California.

Trump was in the deep blue state for the stated reason of personally inspecting the prototypes of the border wall that have been erected in San Diego by six competing companies, Reuters reported. Unsurprisingly, the president was greeted by a group of protesters, and Miller suggested that there was only one thing Trump could have done if he wanted a warmer reception.

“Quite frankly, for Trump to receive a nice welcome in California he’s have to come in illegally,” the “Saturday Night Live” alum tweeted Tuesday afternoon.

Trump also met with representatives of the U.S. Border Patrol and delivered remarks, largely on the subject of U.S. border security, during his visit.

Miller, like actor James Woods, has been known to make insightful — not to mention funny — remarks on Twitter on many occasions. His most recent Twitter rant was on the subject of Massachusetts Democrat Sen. Elizabeth Warren and her claims to be descended from Cherokee ancestors.

Which, in turn, led to this response:

We love Dennis Miller, but I think Michael Osinski might actually have won Twitter this time.

Judge Rules Bakeshop Owner Doesn’t Have To Bake Wedding Cake For Gay Couple

Reported by Grace Carr | Reporter | 11:01 AM 02/06/2018

A California judge ruled Monday the state couldn’t force a cake shop owner to bake a cake for a gay couple’s wedding, ruling that doing so would constitute a violation of free speech.

Superior Court Judge David Lampe denied the State of California’s request for a preliminary injunction that sought to force bakeshop owner Cathy Miller to design a wedding cake for a gay couple.

“For this court to force such compliance would do violence to the essentials of Free Speech guaranteed under the First Amendment,” Lampe ruled, according to a press release sent to The Daily Caller News Foundation. The injunction also posited that if Miller refused to design the cake, the state would force her to close her Tastries Bakery shop altogether.

“We are pleased that the judge recognized that the First Amendment protects Cathy’s freedom of speech,” chief counsel and Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund (FCDF) president, Charles LiMandri, said after the ruling, the press release reports. LiMandri argued in Friday’s court hearing that Miller doesn’t discriminate against same-sex couples, but refuses to use her artistic talents to express a message that conflicts with her religious beliefs about marriage.

The ruling comes after two women asked Miller to design their wedding cake and filed a complaint with the state, alleging that Miller discriminated against them on the basis of sexual orientation. They also posted about the event on social media. Following their complaint, the state launched an investigation and sought a court order to force Miller to bake their wedding cake.

“This is a significant victory for faith and freedom because the judge indicated in his ruling that the State cannot succeed in this case as a matter of law,” LiMandri said. “No doubt the California officials will continue their persecution of Cathy, but it is clear that she has the Constitution on her side.”

The cake baking incident comes after the Supreme Court announced in June that it would hear a similar case that occurred in 2012, when a baker in Denver refused to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple. Lower courts had previously ruled that Jack Phillips, the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop had violated the state’s accommodation laws by refusing to serve a customer based on sexual orientation, according to The Washington Post.

California Presumes Homeschooling Parents Are Child Abusers, Seeks Invasive New Restrictions

Reported By Becky Loggia | February 1, 2018 at 10:54am

URL of the original posting site: https://www.westernjournal.com/california-presumes-homeschooling-parents-child-abusers-seeks-invasive-new-restrictions/

As California lawmakers continue their track-record of controversial decisions, one announcement in particular has caused an outcry for its overreaching presumption: that all homeschoolers must also be child abusers.

According to The Washington Examiner, the plan set out by lawmakers would be to force parents into proving to the government that they are, in fact, fit to be a parent. The homeschooling parent — per legal requirement — would have to meet the government’s required checklist via home visits, interviews, and other oversights, effectively increasing the burden on the parent to prove themselves parentally fit.

And many have expressed concern over stripping away the legally protected option of homeschooling and deeming it as absurdly unconstitutional.

The decision seems to be in light of the horrifying case of David and Louise Turpin who were registered as homeschoolers to the 13 children that authorities found chained, malnourished and abused. Setting logic aside, lawmakers have set their emotions to focus on the sole aspect of the couple being homeschooling parents, rather than the fact that there were psychological issues at play long before the couple even conceived.

It’s an extreme example to try and bolster the controversial plan to increase government regulations when it comes to children and their education, yet data about the benefits of homeschooling may work against them. A recent piece by Chris Weller for Business Insider gives five strong reasons why kids in today’s world of technology, online classes and apps might actually be better-off than their publicly educated peers.

“Homeschooled kids have the same access to online learning, friendships, and extracurricular activities as the typical public school student,” Weller summarizes. “But without many of the drawbacks, like standardized lesson plans and bullying.”

Furthermore, there is little to no data that proves — or suggests — that homeschooled kids are abused by their parents or even at greater risk of being a victim of parental abuse, yet standardized lesson plans have routinely been called out by parents nationwide.

Lawmakers continue to use extreme cases like the Turpins and veiled data to prove their point, pushing out an agenda that criminalizes homeschooling — just one agenda among many which American citizens seem to be blind to.

“I’m routinely astounded by the degree to which Americans will be outraged by government abuses that take place in far-off lands, while remaining uninterested in similar abuses right here in their very midst,” wrote senior editorial writer Steven Greenhut for Foundation for Economic Education.

Greenhut’s article was one of many that chronicled the outrageous attempt at the liberal state to strip away fundamental basic rights, including that of every parent: to educate their own child as they see fit. Though there are current laws that protect those parents, Greenhut cautioned America to take a closer look at just how far lawmakers will go to invade the privacy of a household, likening it to totalitarian countries where “anything not expressly allowed is forbidden.”

“Only someone with an ideological axe to grind could find illegality in the practice of homeschooling.”

The irony of a place that calls itself, The Golden State has no more gold.

According to new statistics released last month by the United States Census Bureau the blue dominate state has more people suffering from poverty than another state in the nation.

In its report, the Census Bureau used cost of living to determine poverty level. The report utilized a standard called the “supplemental poverty measure,” or SPM, which incorporates various factors including expenditures on food, clothing, shelter and utilities, as well as geographic variations, in housing costs.

A little more than 20 percent of Californians — about 8 million people — live in poverty, according to the state’s SPM rate. By comparison, in Mississippi, the state with the highest poverty rate by the official poverty measure, only about 16 percent live in poverty, according to the state’s SPM.

Considering how California throws money away at every problem, who’s shocked.

Welfare Dependence

California state and local governments spent about $958 billion from 1992 through 2015 on public welfare programs, including cash-assistance payments, vendor payments and “other public welfare,” according to the Census Bureau. That’s almost $1 trillion, and to what end.

Hosting 12% of the American population California boasts about one in three of the nation’s welfare recipients. Vagrants know California to be the state where you can get easy money. California fights against welfare-to-work, so the lazy flock to the state in droves. It doesn’t hurt that most areas of California are inhabitable in the worst of conditions.

While California rewards the apathetic, many states have gone back to implementing work requirements for welfare. Georgia is one such state. According to a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, there have been an additional 21 counties who restored the work requirements. These counties experienced a 62 percent drop in SNAP participants.

This kind of approach was also successful back in the 80’s and 90’s when states implemented welfare reform. The results were welfare rolls plummeted and people went back to work. But of course Leftists in California have rejected these positive results and continue with a no strings attached welfare approach.

In fact, California recipients of state aid receive a disproportionately large share of it in no-strings-attached cash disbursements. It’s as though welfare reform passed California by, leaving a dependency trap in place. Immigrants are falling into it: 55% of immigrant families in the state get some kind of means-tested benefits, compared with just 30% of natives.

Work ethic lifts people out of poverty. However, Democrats ignore this simple fact.

 Over Regulated Housing

In addition to out of control welfare handouts, finding an affordable home in California is nearly impossible. After New Jersey and Maryland, California is the third least-free state when it comes to housing regulation.

This is due to development fees, global warming carbon dioxide concerns, restrictive zoning, and other barriers which act to create a massive barrier to owning a house in California. This pushes the cost of a home beyond reach for the middle class, while making rent virtually impossible for the poor.

Extensive environmental regulations aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions make energy more expensive, also hurting the poor. By some estimates, California energy costs are as much as 50% higher than the national average.

Jonathan A. Lesser of Continental Economics, author of a 2015 Manhattan Institute study, “Less Carbon, Higher Prices,” found that “in 2012, nearly 1 million California households faced … energy expenditures exceeding 10% of household income. In certain California counties, the rate of energy poverty was as high as 15% of all households.”

In other words making the population more poor to be more “eco-friendly” is good by progressive standards!

The Official Sanctuary State

Further, if you really wanted to destroy California, you need change nothing. Take for example Jerry Brown’s new law that provides sanctuary for non-citizens. In effect, illegals have more rights than taxpaying American citizens in California.

As Reported by Fox News:

The Golden State is home to an estimated 2.3 million illegal immigrants.

“These are uncertain times for undocumented Californians and their families, and this bill strikes a balance that will protect public safety, while bringing a measure of comfort to those families who are now living in fear everyday,” Brown said on the day he signed the bill.

And we are seeing the effects of these dangerous polices first hand. Take a look at this recording from a driver observing what a “sanctuary” looks like in California:

Additionally, California spends $23 billion on illegal immigration as opposed to the rest of the United States combined at $89 billion.

If this is what California calls “progressivism” it’s no wonder why some counties in California are trying to declare independence from the rest of the state.

With the reading of their own version of a Declaration of Independence, founders of the state of New California took the first steps to what they hope will eventually lead to statehood. CBS Sacramento reports they don’t want to leave the United States, just California.

“Well, it’s been ungovernable for a long time. High taxes, education, you name it, and we’re rated around 48th or 50th from a business climate and standpoint in California,” said founder Robert Paul Preston.

But unlike other separation movements in the past, the state of New California wants to do things by the book, citing Article 4, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution and working with the state legislature to get it done, similar to the way West Virginia was formed.

Don’t expect California to see the light. The state is too far gone. And they have fixed the system so thoughtful leaders will never win.

I hope President Trump doesn’t offer them a bailout without a deal to change the leadership. Know that California is broke and not admitting it.

California Democrats want businesses to give half their tax-cut savings to state

SACRAMENTO — California lawmakers are targeting the expected windfall that companies in the state would see under the federal tax overhaul with a bill that would require businesses to turn over half to the state.

A proposed Assembly Constitutional Amendment by Assemblymen Kevin McCarty, D-Sacramento, and Phil Ting, D-San Francisco, would create a tax surcharge on California companies making more than $1 million so that half of their federal tax cut would instead go to programs that benefit low-income and middle-class families.

“Trump’s tax reform plan was nothing more than a middle-class tax increase,” Ting said in a statement. “It is unconscionable to force working families to pay the price for tax breaks and loopholes benefiting corporations and wealthy individuals. This bill will help blunt the impact of the federal tax plan on everyday Californians by protecting funding for education, affordable health care, and other core priorities.”

As a constitutional amendment, the bill would require approval from two-thirds of the Legislature to pass, a difficult hurdle now that Democrats have lost their supermajority. If passed and signed by Gov. Jerry Brown, it would then go to voters for final approval.

Democrats lost their supermajority following resignations of two Assembly Democrats, Matt Dababneh of Encino (Los Angeles County), and Raul Bocanegra of San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles County) amid sexual misconduct allegations. Another Assembly Democrat, Sebastian Ridley-Thomas of Los Angeles, resigned citing health issues. In the Senate, Democrat Tony Mendoza of Artesia (Los Angeles County) is taking a leave of absence pending an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations.

California Democrats have been exploring ways to help those in the state who could end up paying higher federal taxes next year under the Republican tax overhaul. The GOP overhaul caps state income taxes and local property tax write-offs on the federal income tax return at $10,000, a move expected to hurt high-local-tax states such as California, where the average state and local tax write-off in 2016 was $22,000.

State Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León introduced legislation this month that would allow Californians to get around the state and local tax cap with a voluntary donation to a charitable fund created by the state of any amount of owed taxes above $10,000. That donation — in lieu of taxes — would allow donors to write off the gifts on their federal tax returns.

New California Bill: Waiters Will Serve 6 Months In Prison For Handing Out ‘Unsolicited’ Straws

Reported By Caterine DeCicco | January 25, 2018 at 1:24pm

URL of the original posting site: https://www.westernjournal.com/new-californian-bill-waiters-will-serve-6-months-prison-handing-unsolicited-straws/

A California lawmaker has introduced a new bill that would make it illegal to distribute single-use straws to consumers at restaurants unless specifically requested.

Ian Calderon, the Democratic majority leader in California’s lower house, brought forth Assembly Bill 1884, citing environmental protection as a reason to discourage the use of “single use straws,” typically distributed with soft drinks, smoothies, and coffee, which are then disposed of after being used.

We need to create awareness around the issue of one-time use plastic straws and its detrimental effects on our landfills, waterways, and oceans,” Calderon stated in a media release

“AB 1884 is not a ban on plastic straws,” he added. “It is a small step towards curbing our reliance on these convenience products, which will hopefully contribute to a change in consumer attitudes and usage.”

Assembly Bill 1884 aims to update the California Retail Food Code.

The bill notes that the current code “… establishes uniform health and sanitation standards for, and provides for regulation by the State Department of Public Health of, retail food facilities, as defined, and requires local health agencies to enforce these provisions.”

As the law currently stands, punishment for violating the Retail Food Code ranges from paying a fine between $25 – $1,000 or jail time.

“Existing law requires, except as otherwise provided, a person who violates any provision of the code to be guilty of a misdemeanor with each offense punishable by a fine of not less than $25 or more than $1,000, or by imprisonment in the county jail for a term not exceeding 6 months, or by both.”

If passed, the law would modify the code to mark the provision of “single-use plastic straws to consumers unless requested by the consumer,” as a crime.

According to CNN, Americans dispose of 500 million plastic straws each day.

“Conservatively, you can guess that Americans will use on average two plastic straws a day, so 500 million is an accurate estimate. But I challenge you to start paying attention to the straws you get in your iced coffee, smoothies, soda, and cocktails,” said Adrian Grenier of the non-profit Lonely Whale to CNN.

“When I’m in New York or LA the number of plastic straws I receive is often closer to 10 a day,” Grenier added.

Disposable straws are made from fossil fuels, and according to the cable news outlet are rarely recycled due to their small size and the fact that they’re made from several different types of plastic. Straws and stirrers rank at number nine in the top 10 marine debris items, according to The Ocean Conservancy. Eliminating the use of plastic straws has been a growing movement for some time.  The “Be Straw Free Campaign” was introduced by Milo Cress in 2011 when he was just 9 years old.

“I noticed that whenever I ordered a drink at a restaurant, it would usually come with a straw in it, and I don’t usually need a straw,” he told CNN.

“This seemed like a huge waste,” Cress continued. “Straws are made of oil, a precious and finite resource. Is making single-use plastic straws, which will be used for a matter of minutes before being tossed away, really what we want to do with this resource?”

Then a resident of Burlington, Vermont, the young activist asked establishments in his hometown to make straws and option for customers –  and many complied. While some like Calderon, support changing legislation to modify people’s behavior, others believe that simply offering other options is a better alternative.

Besides not using a straw, reusable straws made from materials such as glass, steel, copper, and bamboo, are becoming popular.

Cress seemed to agree that encouraging consumers to make different choices is a more effective way to make a change.

“I am not out to ban straws,” he told CNN. “I think it’s much more effective to encourage people to make the choice not to use them. Voluntary participation encourages people to spread the word. Forcing people to do things is not always the most effective way to make a change.”

Illegal Alien Stabbing Suspect Is Seven-Time Deported Felon

Reported by Michelle Moons | 18 Jan 2018

Weeks after Eulalio Miniz Orozco was arrested in December as the suspect in a California restaurant stabbing, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has revealed that he has been deported seven times and has multiple criminal convictions on his record.

Orozco, 39, was arrested on December 27, allegedly for the December 21 stabbing of a 61-year-old man at Santa Rosa’s Lola’s Supermarket, according to local Fox2 News. The two men had been sitting at separate tables and had not spoken when the elderly man was attacked, according to local authorities. Video surveillance provided authorities with images of Orozco.

Orozco also goes by the alias Ricardo Velasquez-Romero, an ICE official told the Daily Caller (DC).

Similarly, the illegal alien prosecuted for the killing of Kate Steinle in San Francisco was known for months as Juan Francisco Lopez Sanchez before ICE officials were able to determine that this was actually just one of the aliases for Jose Garcia Zarate.

In Orozco’s case, ICE placed a detainer request on Orozco on December 28 in connection with the stabbing, ICE spokesman James Schwab told the DC. Schwab added that according to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) databases, Orozco has been deported seven times since 2007 to his native Mexico and has a criminal record that includes felony drug and weapons charges.

Before initially tracking down Orozco, the Santa Rosa Police Department asked for the community’s help in identifying the stabbing suspect in the days after the crime, even offering a description from witnesses of “a large tattoo on one of his forearms of the grim reaper, commonly referred to as La Santa Muerte.” After tracking down leads that led to the arrest of the suspect, the department posted a photo of him. At the time, a motive for the crime was still unknown. The victim’s condition at the time was upgraded to stable.

Orozco was charged with attempted murder for the December 21 stabbing, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department. His Sonoma County Jail booking listed multiple charges in the case, including felony counts.

A DHS report released this week revealed that according to ICE:

From October 1, 2011, to September 30, 2017, a total of 355,345 non-U.S. citizen offenders were arrested by ICE for purposes of removal after previously having been convicted of an aggravated felony … or two or more crimes each punishable by more than one year (felony offenses).

In addition, during that period, “372,09821 non-U.S. citizen offenders were removed from the United States after conviction of an aggravated felony or two or more felonies.”

‘ICE Has Your Six,’ Fed Immigration Chief Tells California Cops. Acting Director Thomas Homan pledged agency ‘will never turn our back on law enforcement’ in this sanctuary state

Reported by Kathryn Blackhurst | Updated 19 Jan 2018 at 6:16 AM

Speaking on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” Thursday night, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) acting Director Thomas Homan assured local California police officials that “ICE has your six” and “will never turn our back on law enforcement.”

Homan spoke specifically to officers in the Oakland Police Department, the day after the city council voted unanimously to cease cooperating with ICE and its operations. California lawmakers approved legislation last year making it a sanctuary state in 2018.

The acting director promised the officers that “if you’re out there doing a lawful operation and you are in need of assistance, if you find yourself in trouble and there’s an ICE agent within earshot or in the area, we will do everything we can in our legal authority to assist you.

We will do everything we can to make sure you go home safe to your families,” he said. “We will never turn our back on law enforcement. ICE has your six.” Having somebody’s “six” is a military/law enforcement term referring to covering a colleague’s back from attack.

Liberal California politicians and officials expressed outrage earlier in the week when it was reported ICE was planning to crack down on illegal immigrants and conduct sweeping raids across Northern California despite the state’s sanctuary status. Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) even wrote a letter to Homan on Wednesday in which they denounced the “troubling reports” of impending immigration raids.

“We firmly believe that law enforcement must prioritize dangerous criminals, not undocumented immigrants who do not pose a threat to public safety,” the Democrats wrote. “Diverting resources in an effort to punish California and score political points is an abhorrent abuse of power, not to mention a terrible misuse of scarce resources.”

But Homan offered a message of his own to Feinstein and Harris, noting that ICE’s decision to increase its resources in California “is in direct response to the sanctuary laws that forced me in that position.”

“Let me say this about the [senators] that wrote the letter — I didn’t think Congress is in the business of enacting laws they don’t want law enforcement to enforce,” Homan said. “I’m enforcing the laws that Congress enacted. And for them to say that I shouldn’t be enforcing the laws, there would be no integrity in the entire system.”

“We’re simply a law enforcement agency that has a sworn duty to enforce the laws of this country,” he added. “I’m doing what they tell me to do. I’m enforcing laws that they enacted. I’m enforcing laws that the president has signed.”

The acting ICE director also asked whether there are any other federal or local law enforcement agencies around “where congressmen or elected officials or attorney generals say, ‘Do not enforce the law,’” noting that “no one asks the FBI not to enforce law.”

It’s Happening: Multiple Counties “Secede,” Declare “New California” as Ind. State

Reported By Chris Golden | January 17, 2018 at 3:34am

URL of the original posting site: https://conservativetribune.com/multiple-counties-new-california/

California secession movements are right up there with new Jimmy Hoffa burial place claims: That’s great, but I’ve heard it all before, and please call me when there’s some actual evidence something’s going to happen this time.

So, when yet another secession proposal from the capital of high taxes, high homelessness, high residents and low hope of any prosperous future flashed across the news wire, you can probably imagine that I wasn’t exactly telling the folks in the newsroom to hold the presses. However, for once, the denizens of the Golden State might have come across a decent idea involving secession — and it could create a 51st state that Republicans can actually approve of.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, a movement called New California seeks to become the 51st state by divorcing the majority of the state’s territory from the liberal coastal counties that dominate the state’s political landscape.

“New California is a new state in development by egregiously aggrieved Californians exercising our Constitutional right to form a new state separate from the tyranny and lawlessness of the state of California,” the group says on its Facebook page.

Those representing counties in the New California movement declared their secession from the state at large on Jan. 15, although that’s probably not going to impress too many people in the Sacramento statehouse. The group’s website notes that “(a)t the New California State County Representative meeting held in Marysville, CA, Riverside and Sacramento counties were certified by the representatives to join the ever increasing number of counties wanting to join the movement to create the 51st state in the Union.”

According to The Daily Caller, 21 of the 58 counties of California have offered support, even though the matter is doomed to fail in the state legislature because of Democrat infestation.

This is the map of the proposed New California in blue, with Old California (or California Classic, should they wish to emulate Coca-Cola’s marketing department) in yellow:

New California: Now with 100 percent less Ventura County

The group says that “years of over taxation, regulation, and mono party politics” have left the state “ungovernable.”

“The nature of the state becoming ungovernable has caused a decline in essential basic services such as education, law enforcement, fire protection, transportation, housing, health care, taxation, voter rights, banking, state pension systems, prisons, state parks, water resource management, home ownership, infrastructure and many more,” New California’s executive summary says.

California’s political status has been much in the news since President Donald Trump’s election; many liberals have proposed seceding from the union to form their own country, while conservatives who feel marginalized in the Golden State have re-entrenched themselves behind the idea of the state of Jefferson, a long-proposed 51st state incorporating conservative parts of two liberal states, California and Oregon.

Unfortunately, while one has sympathy for anyone somehow stuck in a state whose prospects for economic health and growth in the 21st century are right up there with those of Mama Cass running this year’s Los Angeles Marathon and winning, the Constitution is pretty plain about cleaving extant states into two new entities.

“New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new State shall be formed or erected within the jurisdiction of any other state; nor any state be formed by the junction of two or more states, or parts of states, without the consent of the legislatures of the states concerned as well as of the Congress,” Article IV of the Constitution reads.

In other words, they have to get both Congress and California as a whole to sign off on this. And while the GOP-led Congress might be more than happy to let the über-liberal coastal areas and Silicon Valley go their own way, the coastal swath of the state probably isn’t going to be so keen on letting the rest of the state loose as it’s is about to undergo a serious debt crisis.

However, we can’t help but give our tacit support to the people of the New California project, quixotic though their attempt may be. After all, it can’t be anywhere near as bad as the Old California — or California Classic, if they go with that.

Feds Raid California “Maternity Hotels” Housing Pregnant Illegals

Reported by Lawrence

Jonathan McIntosh / Flickr / CC2.0

Homeland Security agents swept through The Carlyle, in Irvine, California, after they got intel of something pretty unbelievable.

You see… it was discovered that Chinese women were paying upwards of $60,000 to be brought to the United States solely to give birth on our soil.  These “Maternity Hotels” are created specifically for this; so foreign-born women can come here, give birth, and have a way to stay in the country because then by default their children are citizens of The United States.

“I am doing this for the education of the next generation,” one of the women told NBC News.

So somewhere out there are some OTHER people collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars, tax-free I might add, to help these women get here, obtain visas, and wait out the rest of their pregnancy. Now here’s where you may get a little p*ssed off — none of the women busted during the raid were arrested. Instead, they’re being treated as material witnesses. Investigators hope to use them to crack down on the operations which make this possible.

“It’s not necessarily illegal to come here to have the baby, but if you lie about your reasons for coming here, that’s visa fraud,” said Special Agent Claude Arnold. — but shouldn’t it be? I mean… it’s a pattern of deception.

And it should come as no surprise to you, dear readers, that this all took place in the “Sanctuary State” of California though if it’s happening there you can bet your bottom dollar it’s spread throughout The United States.

In all, 20 locations were raided between Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino counties AND The “organizers” have not even been charged, they’re just being questioned.

Chao Chen and Dong Li used a website for their business spouting all the wonderful benefits of having a U.S. Citizen child born here:  13 years of free education, low-cost college financial aid, less pollution, and a path for the entire family to emigrate when the child becomes an adult.

According to NBC News:

Clients were counseled on what lies to tell to obtain a tourist visa; how to fly through Hawaii, Las Vegas or Korea to avoid suspicious immigration officers at Los Angeles International Airport; and how to disguise their pregnancy in transit, according to search warrant affidavit unsealed Tuesday.

The women were then set up at the Carlyle, which charges about $3,000 a month for a two-bedroom apartment and features amenities including private balconies, a resort-style pool, and cabanas with flat-screen televisions.

This is just the beginning, you guys. This rabbit hole RAN DEEP!

The women’s handlers provided transportation for doctor visits and trips to restaurants and shops, the court papers say. An agent tailing one of the suspects followed them to Target and Babies R Us.

They were funneled to several Orange County hospitals to deliver, but they didn’t pay full price — approximately $25,000 — for medical services, officials said. Instead, they got reduced rates for the indigent, ranging from nothing to $4,000, the court papers say.

Which is HUGE! Some 400 babies have been linked to this scheme and that’s a HUGE LOSS in revenue for the hospitals.

Sharia California: Man Charged For Sending Islamocritical Posts To Islamic Center Of Southern California

Reported by Robert Spencer

All right, so apparently “intent to annoy or harass” is a misdemeanor in Southern California. Had I known that, I could have brought up on charges about a thousand people who have emailed me over the years. But there’s the rub, actually: is “intent to annoy or harass” a crime when directed at non-Muslims, or only at Muslims?

Would Feigin have been prosecuted if he had written five comments critical of Christianity on some church’s Facebook page?

“California Prosecutes Man For Posting Anti-Muslim Messages On Facebook,” by Anders Hagstrom, Daily Caller, December 30, 2017:

California has leveled misdemeanor charges against 41-year-old Mark Feigin after he sent five anti-Muslim posts to the Islamic Center of Southern California’s (ICSC) Facebook page in 2016.

The California Attorney General’s office argues that his comments constituted “repeated contact by means of an electronic communication device” with “intent to annoy or harass,” a misdemeanor under California law, Reason.com reported Friday. California courts are scheduled to begin the trial Jan. 2, according to court records. Feigin admitted in October 2016 that he wrote the following comments between Sept. 17 and 25 of the same year.

  • “THE TERROR HIKE … SOUNDS LIKE FUN” (In reference to the Center’s advertised “Sunset Hike”)
  • “THE MORE MUSLIMS WE ALLOW INTO AMERICA THE MORE TERROR WE WILL SEE.”
  • “PRACTICING ISLAM CAN SLOW OR EVEN REVERSE THE PROCESS OF HUMAN EVOLUTION.”
  • “Islam is dangerous – fact: the more muslim savages we allow into america – the more terror we will see -this is a fact which is undeniable.”
  • “Filthy Muslim shit has no place in western civilization.”

ICSC Communications Coordinator Kristin Stangas blocked Feigin soon after he made the final post, but also kept copies of the comments to pursue legal action. The Los Angeles Police Department arrested Feigin Oct. 19 and interviewed him. Feigin is now arguing that his charges should be dismissed because they are based on an unconstitutional application of the law.

Specifically, Cal. Penal Code § 653m(b) states that “every person who, with intent to annoy or harass, makes repeated telephone calls or makes repeated contact by means of an electronic communication device … to another person is … guilty of a misdemeanor. Nothing in this subdivision shall apply to telephone calls or electronic contacts made in good faith or during the ordinary course and scope of business.”

The AG’s office argues that Facebook comments are not legally different from telephone calls in this circumstance, and that Feigin’s intent was clearly to “annoy or harass,” making his actions illegal.

California ‘Sanctuary City’ Allows Illegals, But Stops Church from Feeding Hungry Americans

Reported By Warner Todd Huston November 13, 2017

Malibu, California, just issued a demand to a Christian church telling officials there to stop feeding homeless people once a week, but this same city is quite proud of itself for being a so-called “sanctuary city.” Meaning, the city fathers of Malibu don’t mind illegal foreigners streaming into their city, but they don’t want to feed homeless Americans.

Isn’t that an outrageous contradiction?

Last week the Malibu United Methodist Church was told to close its kitchen where every Wednesday it hosted a meal for the area’s homeless, according to KCBS.

“Yeah, it’s a safe place here and everybody is welcome,” said Micah Johnson, a homeless man who has been grateful for the church’s meals. “The food is really good. It is home cooked and a lot of TLC involved.”

Church officials reported that they have fed the homeless since 2014 and lately have been feeding up to 80 people each week.

“We can’t pretend like it doesn’t exist in our backyard. We can’t pretend like it only exists outside of Malibu,” church volunteer Kay Gabbard said.

The church worker said she fears that many of the people who usually eat at her kitchen will forage through dumpsters when they aren’t eating at the church. But the city wants it all to stop. Why?

“We were asked, very succinctly,” volunteer Dawn Randall said of a meeting with the city. “They claim we are responsible for increasing the homelessness.”

Apparently, the town officials are upset that the church draws more homeless people to the city merely because of the weekly meals. A church meal that feeds a paltry 80 people “increases the homeless”?

OK, let’s take that as a given. Let’s accept their logic. But, the city is also proud that it is a so-called “sanctuary city” allowing criminal illegals to live inside its borders without fear of deportation.

In March of this year, the city fathers of Malibu proudly followed the lead of extremist, left-wing actor Martin Sheen who in December spoke at a city meeting to urge the city to protect the criminal illegals among them.

Firstly, Malibu is 92 percent white. So, the illegals the city cited as those they want to “protect” are local illegals who work for the rich folks as nannies, gardeners, and menial laborers. This elitist situation was so absurd that some local detractor of the measure went to the expense of posting a satirical sign ridiculing the city’s sanctuary city vote.

Some infuriated citizen added a placard to the city limit sign that read, “Official Sanctuary City ‘Cheap Nannies and Gardeners Make Malibu Great!’ (Boyle Heights Not So Much).”

The sign — while very funny — made city officials furious.

“This was not an official city sign,” Malibu Councilwoman Laura Rosenthal told the L.A. Times. “It’s down, and it’s very disheartening that anyone would put up such an ugly sign.”

OK, let’s review. The city of Malibu is proud of its status as a sanctuary city status and is furious at anyone who ridicules that status.

So, let’s now circle back around to the story of the church and its homeless kitchen. Remembering that Malibu is 92 percent white and that the sanctuary status is to protect their gardeners and nannies… so, who does that leave to partake of the church meals? No less than those few American citizens in Malibu who are homeless.

What does this all mean? No less than that the city elites are fine with allowing illegals to break our laws as long as they are servants to the town’s rich folks. Yet, they don’t want to feed hungry Americans.

Then there is this final point. The city doesn’t seem to grasp logical disconnect inherent in these two situations. If they think a program that feeds homeless people is somehow at fault for drawing homeless people to the town, how do they not understand that a sanctuary city program is a draw for lawbreakers?

But, if you want “white privilege,” the liberals who infest the city of Malibu are the perfect example of it. After all, look at what they are doing here. They are chasing out hungry American citizens while laying out the welcome mat for the illegals whose only value is as their gardeners, nannies, lawn care workers, and pool boys.

Could there be any better example of liberal hypocrisy?

2.  Passed Cap N Trade tax which will increase gas 0.63 to 0.93 cents a gallon change, and the taxes that go with it.

3.  Proposed increase on a new tax every residence will pay for tap water in the State!

4.  A $3.46B parks bond to pay for parks in “disadvantaged communities”, meaning Los Angeles.  The debt service will be over $200 million a year.  The good news is some money goes to help fix the Salton Sea which should have always been a State responsibility!

5.  Law to release any lifer (murder, rape, child molestation, etc.) who is 60 years old and has already spent 25 years in prison! Charles Manson qualifies today and the Melendez brothers, that murdered their parents, could be released in about 12 years. What about victims?

6.  A new $10 charge on all residents living in a mobile home parks to address living condition enforcement in those parks?  Why does the left embrace these regressive taxes on the poor?

7.  We picked an official dinosaur of the State of California.  Really?  Yes!

8.  Blackmail Tesla to either unionize with the United Auto Workers Union or forfeit State incentives to buy their electric cars!  Just another Union Grab!

9.  Reduce from a felony to a misdemeanor the purposeful intent to transmit the AIDS virus to a unknowing partner.

10.  Give preferential treatment to prisoners convicted of serious crimes that are less than 25 years old because their brains are not mature enough to understand right from wrong.  Whaaat?  If the brains of our kids don’t mature until 25, why do we allow them to vote?

11.  A bill to require our true sex be omitted from drivers licenses?  Whaaat?

12.  Free legal services for illegal immigrants.

13.  Establish safe “injection zones” run by government to oversee people injecting heroin!  You have to be kidding me?  Yep, it passed!

Enough good news for today.

California Lady Moves to Red State, Suddenly Sends Unexpected Message to Lib Friends Back Home

Flyover country. Bible belt. Middle America. Coastal elites in liberal cities have all sorts of terms for “red states,” but they all seem to convey one message: Conservative areas of the country are somehow backward and should be avoided.

That’s the impression one California writer had about America’s heartland. Leah Singer never imagined that she would end up in Trump Country… but when she moved to Indiana not long ago, her entire perception changed.

In an editorial piece published last weekend in the Indianapolis Star, the author sent a clear message to liberal friends back in California and throughout the country: You might be wrong about “red states.”

“I used to say I’d never move to a red state. And then I did. And it’s changed my life for the better,” Singer admitted.

As a “California girl,” the writer explained that the left-leaning west coast sees itself as a bastion of “diversity,” but Singer hinted that it was less of a paradise for anybody who didn’t parrot the liberal talking points.

“I was raised in California, where we like to believe diversity is applauded and opportunities abound,” she explained. “In many ways, California’s blue state bubble can be a very safe place to live if you subscribe to the popular liberal politics.”

In other words, it was diverse only if you thought and talked the same as everyone else, which kind of defeats the point. Regardless, Singer was a bit apprehensive about starting her new life in a conservative region.

“Over and over, I was questioned about why I would ever leave the Golden State for a ‘flyover’ red state. This phrase alone troubled me, and the implied perception that one flies over the Midwest just to get to their East or West coast home,” she stated.

Like sheltered people naively asking about a faraway land they’ve only vaguely heard about, the writer’s west coast friends had a lot of curiosity about how things were in America’s heartland.

“As I settled into life in the Midwest, I heard the same assumptive questions: ‘Did everyone you know vote for Donald Trump?’ ‘Are there African-American, Jewish, Asian, LGBTQ people in Indiana?’ ‘Do people make fun of you for listening to National Public Radio?‘” Singer recalled.

The coastal transplant quickly realized that her past impressions of conservative America were nowhere near the reality.

“As I got to know my new Midwest home, I realize how living in a bubble and subscribing to the Middle America stereotypes is truly damaging to this country,” she explained.

“Never does one ask how the Indiana public schools provide many opportunities that have been cut from California’s public schools because of one budget crisis after another, Singer continued.

Never does one ask about the low cost of living that is allowing us to pay off the mountain of debt we accrued in California. And never does one ask about my fellow community members, who are running successful businesses, enriching the city’s arts and making a difference for the local environment.”

She noticed something that “enlightened” coastal liberals often ignore: Places such as California may not be as truly diverse as they pretend to be.

“Southern California is diverse racially and religiously; it really is not with respect to class or working poor,” the writer revealed.

“This is especially the case in San Diego County, where it’s becoming more difficult for middle-class families to own a home or afford rent, with 41% of homeowners and 57% of renters spending 30% or more of income on housing, all while incomes stay stagnant, according to the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.”

In simple terms, many places in liberal enclaves have become so expensive to live that economic diversity is a thing of the past. It’s a bit like pretending that a gated community where everyone is a doctor or lawyer and drives a BMW is “diverse” — different racial boxes may be checked but it’s all a bit boring.

In the end, Singer’s positive experience with the midwest helped her realize that many coastal elites purposely bury their heads in the sand when it comes to real diversity within the United States.

“(H)ow many of these people travel within their own country to get to know the ‘other?’ Why travel the globe, but not make an effort to get to know your Midwest neighbor?” the author asked.

“Living in Indiana, I now have an understanding of America that I did not before. I wish more people living outside the middle took the time to get to know the others living a few states away. I did, and I am a better person because of it,” she concluded.

She may not completely realize it, but Singer has stumbled upon an important fact. Liberal obsession with diversity often shuns true multiculturalism — a variety of opinions, thoughts and political stances — and instead focuses on the “feel good” categorization of irrelevant traits like skin color.

In many of the most important ways, conservative areas of the country are advancing while liberal neighborhoods face major problems.

Thankfully, people like Singer are having their eyes opened once they actually escape their bubble… and they’re realizing what conservatives have known for decades: Small town America might be on to something after all.

Dear CNN: Trump Supporter Stabbed Because He’s Conservative – Is That ‘News?’

Reported by ClashDaily.com | Published on June 20, 2017

Cops calling it ‘racially motivated’.

Stabbed nine times.

Doctors weren’t sure if he’d survive.

He’s paying one helluva price for attending …

27-year-old Antonio “Tony” Foreman had just left a free speech rally in California alongside a slew of other well-known Trump supporters such as Kyle Chapman (“Based Sick Man“). Afterward, they headed to a local bar to relax. After a few hours at the bar, the group — many dawning Trump hats and supportive bumper stickers on their vehicles – decided to retire for the night. That is when things took a turn for the worse.

As Tony approached his vehicle, another car rammed through the parking gate vehicle barrier into the lot, directly smashing into Tony’s car. The Armenians exited their car and reportedly were initially receptive to exchanging insurance information. They walked the length of Mr. Foreman’s car and noticed multiple “pro-patriot stickers” including a “Gadsden flag, an American flag, and multiple other patriotic and pro-Republican stickers” on his bumper and back window. That’s when things took a turn for the worse.

After noticing these stickers, the Armenian gang member is reported to have walked back to his car before re-approaching Mr. Foreman. The car’s other passengers stepped out of the vehicle wielding knives. Within in a matter of minutes, Mr. Foreman was stabbed nine times right before one of the gang members screamed, “I’m going to shank you whiteboy!”

The Santa Monica police, when asked for comment, said, “There is no reason to believe that this was pre-meditated, but it was a racially charged attack.” — Read more

The victim had this to say:

“We always hear about violence from the left, but I never thought it would happen to me. Next thing I know, I woke up in a hospital bed with 9 stab wounds for having patriotic stickers on my car. It really makes me sad to be attacked for my beliefs and who I am. I don’t wish this upon anyone, no matter your political views, and I hope my experience will help wake people up and stop this nonsense.”

Antonio is an Oathkeeper. (He’s there on the left.)

There’s a fundraising page to help with his hospital bills if any of our readers is so inclined.

This is yet another attack — that could have killed a man — for being a white guy with ideas that some thugs disapprove of.  Gee, do you think it could it be the emphasis on RULE of LAW that punks dislike about Republicans?

These punks can’t STAND somone daring to have any different idea than the ones they like.

Rather than engage in debate, they do their own version of the Julius Caesar treatment on the Trump supporter. They mobbed him and stabbed him nine times.

Amazing how life imitates art in this story.

The days ahead are NOT for the faint of heart.
