The Pandemic Made Me Do It!

Source: AP Photo/Noah Berger

With the mind-boggling rise in violent crime since the Democrats turned all policing policies over to BLM, the media have become obsessed with convincing us that it’s all the fault of the pandemic. (At least they’re not blaming it on Putin this time.)

In its coverage of the subway shooting by a rage-filled black nationalist last week, The New York Times inserted its pandemic theory of crime into nearly every update (emphasis added):

— “Shootings in New York City rose during 2022’s first quarter compared with the same period last year … the continuation of a drumbeat of violence that emerged early in the PANDEMIC, and has not ebbed with the virus.”

— “This year’s first three months have also seen rises in crimes like burglaries, robberies and grand larcenies compared to the same periods in 2020 and 2021, though experts warn against short-term comparisons, particularly during the statistic-skewing PANDEMIC.”

— “Mr. Lee said reports of attacks across the city, along with the violence that other Asian Americans in the city have experienced throughout the coronavirus PANDEMIC, have left him fearful.”

(I’d like to know if Mr. Lee cited the pandemic or — my guess — the Times helpfully threw that in.)

— “The city’s police commissioner announced new figures last week that showed a 36% increase in major crimes and a 16% rise in shootings over the past year — part of a rise in violence during the PANDEMIC.”

No evidence is ever cited. The Times made no attempt to tie Frank James’ personal pandemic experience to his outburst of homicidal racism. “The pandemic caused the crime wave” is just repeated in article after article, like the sleep conditioning of infants in Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World.”

Except even in Huxley’s dystopian world, the bureaucrats only needed to repeat an idea three times a week. The media authoritatively announce that the pandemic caused the crime wave about a thousand times a week.

A spate of shootings over the weekend led to another gusher of “The pandemic causes crime” sightings in the Times. Now it’s not just crime generally, but specifically mass shootings: “Experts are pointing to multiple possible factors that could explain the upswing [in mass shootings], including the pandemic …”

I wonder if that includes any of the experts who spent the first 2.5 months of the pandemic telling us that the lockdowns had had the wonderful effect of virtually ending violent crime! That is, right up until the day George Floyd was killed, whereupon white people became guilty for everything, and black people responsible for nothing, including their own criminal behavior.

Thus, on April 14, 2020, a month into “15 days to slow the spread,” the Times stated matter-of-factly: “Violent crime has dropped precipitously.” Two weeks later, on May 4, 2020, Politico reported: “Major crime has plunged during New York City’s coronavirus lockdown, down 28.5% in the month of April.”

Similarly, on April 23, 2020, The Denver Post reported that during the first four weeks of the pandemic, crime reports were down by a third, adding that “other large cities have seen significant drops in crime during the coronavirus.”

The very day that Floyd died, Voice of America announced that major U.S. cities had “reported dips in burglary, assault, murder, robbery and grand larceny — all due to stay-at-home orders and fewer opportunities for crime.”

How about a bigger comparison? Are there any studies of crime during the pandemic from around the globe? Why yes, there are! A study by Cambridge University of crime rates in 27 cities across 23 countries in Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Middle East found that stay-at-home orders during the pandemic “were associated with a considerable drop in urban crime.”

Then, in a crazy coincidence invisible to every member of our media, on May 25, 2020, an innocent black man, just minding his own business, bothering no one, was killed by a cop in Minneapolis, and …

BAM! As you may have seen in Twitter and YouTube videos (at least the ones that were not immediately removed by “moderators”), violent crime promptly exploded in cities across the nation.

Both the FBI and CDC report that murders were up 30% in 2020 — the largest year-to-year increase in more than a century. The next biggest increase was back in 1968, when it went up by 12.7%. In 2021, murders were up again, 44% compared to 2019.

And it all started on the mystery date of May 25, 2020. From Jan. 1, 2020, to May 25, 2020, gun homicides increased by 14%, compared to 2019. (Democrats do control the cities.) But from George Floyd’s death on May 25, 2020, through the end of the year, gun homicides shot up an astronomical 41%.

Obviously, therefore, one problem with the theory that the bacchanal of violence of the last two years is the pandemic’s fault is that there is absolutely no evidence to support it.

As we’ve seen, right up until the hysteria over Floyd’s death, the media were fairly bristling with stories about the salubrious effect the pandemic was having on crime. In addition, as a factual matter, gun homicides nearly tripled from the period before Floyd’s death (B.F.) compared to the period after his death (A.D.)

A second major problem with the pandemic theory of crime is that it requires a complete mind-wipe of everything that happened in the months after Floyd’s death: BLM. All Cops Are Bastards. Defund the Police.

Media in unison: We have no idea what you’re talking about.

Here’s a reminder:

— Associated Press, May 29, 2020: “Minneapolis police station torched amid George Floyd protest

— New York Times, June 12, 2020: “Yes, We Mean Literally Abolish the Police.

— 770 KTTH, Aug. 25, 2020: “Rioters tried to burn Seattle police alive, sealed door during fire at East Precinct

— In These Times, Dec. 15, 2020: “The Best Moment of 2020: The Burning of the Third Precinct

Throughout all this, Democrats and the media celebrated as police budgets were slashed, officers’ hands were tied, and crime after crime was decriminalized.

No wonder they want to blame the pandemic.

Still, there are less obviously false excuses for the current crime wave than the pandemic. (I’m assuming the truth is a non-starter for our media.)

You know what else happened in 2020? The Pentagon released photos of UFOs! How about replacing “the pandemic” with that? The media should start including clauses like this in their crime stories: “… a drumbeat of violence that emerged after the Pentagon released UFO videos” and “… part of a rise in violence the year UFO videos were released.”

Seriously — that’s less unhinged than blaming the current, epic crime wave on “the pandemic.”

CNN’s brand-new streaming service, CNN+, is shutting down only a month after launch. In a Thursday memo, incoming CNN chief executive Chris Licht confirmed a Variety report  on the shutdown. Licht said the service would shut down at the end of April.

In his memo, Licht said consumers wanted “simplicity and an all-in service” rather than “stand-alone offerings.” Discovery had previously suggested that it wanted to merge the new company’s separate streaming services, which include Discovery+ and HBO Max, into a single app. Licht said some CNN+ content will wind up on other company networks, and the streaming service’s employees will get opportunities to apply for jobs elsewhere inside Warner Bros. Discovery. The head of CNN+, Andrew Morse, is leaving the company.

“While today’s decision is incredibly difficult, it is the right one for the long-term success of CNN. It allows us to refocus resources on the core products that drive our singular focus: further enhancing CNN’s journalism and its reputation as a global news leader,” Licht wrote.

CNN+ launched when its parent was still part of AT&T. It combined with Discovery earlier this month in a new company, Warner Bros. Discovery, under Discovery CEO David Zaslav, who had his own vision for CNN and its Warner siblings. Under AT&T, there were $100 million in development costs and some 500 employees assigned to building out CNN+. The service had attracted big names for its lineup, from former Fox anchor Chris Wallace to food-media star Alison Roman, as part of the company’s effort to appeal to younger people with a streaming news service as cable news audiences age. There had been skepticism that a paid news streaming service would attract interest from consumers, who already have available a slew of online TV. While Fox has a paid streaming service, Fox Nation, other major TV news organizations make their apps available free.

CNBC, citing an unnamed source, reported that the decision to shut the service was based on recommendations from Licht after he studied the service. Politico reports that CNN+ staffers will continue to get pay and benefits for the next 90 days. Any CNN+ employee who leaves the company after that will get a minimum six-month severance.

CNN launched CNN+ in a bid to capitalize on the rising popularity of streaming video and growth of digital subscriptions at major news organizations. The streaming service offers a combination of live, on-demand and interactive programming, with an emphasis on original content.

REPORTED By Wallace B. Henley, Exclusive Columnist | Wednesday, April 20, 2022

Read more at https://www.christianpost.com/voices/is-a-global-oligarchy-shaping-before-our-eyes.html/

A mere half-century ago most of us might have smirked at the suggestion that the day really would come when the whole world would be ruled by a single human being or a small cluster of elites, a global oligarchy. People who took literal prophecies from the Bible about such things were regarded as fanatics easily led by sensationalist preachers of doom. In recent years, however, the possibility of global elites dominating throughout the world has become plausible. Perhaps now we even can know what such an oligarchy of the elite might look like.

“There is a power structure in this country,” wrote Sohrab Ahmari on April 5 in The American Conservative. This is “a tangle of private capital, managerial interests, and governmental authority…that has become adept at seeing off challengers.”[i]

In previous columns, I have described this as a “consensus establishment” comprised of entertainment, information, academic, political, and corporate elites. They converge into a general agreement about what the rest of us should believe and value and propagandize that worldview non-stop. They marginalize, or, worse, cancel us when we refuse to comply.

Wars make many vulnerable and willing to receive leadership that is strong enough to stop killing and maiming. Desperation forces people to settle for even greater threats if the looming disasters burst upon the existential moment.

It was this intensifying angst that we are observing in our era that prompted me to author a book about artificial intelligence and the “looming spiritual crisis” rapidly developing technologies may present sooner rather than later.

The proliferation of the machines, their startling abilities, and entrancing presences make us all vulnerable to the belief systems wired into them. People who have no sense of Transcendence in their hearts and minds are the most susceptible.

Babylon,” as presented in the Bible book of Revelation, is the world system organized without and even in defiance of God. It is the human attempt to recover through human means the lost Paradise that was Eden before the entry of evil.

Babylon” is an apt symbol for that world system because human hands have tried to restore Eden on their own terms. The effort ranges from Nimrod to those who built Babel’s tower, to Nebuchadnezzar aiming to construct and then energize the human-built kingdom with his own glory. The struggle to recover paradise through human effort extends to modern social movements that try to build the perfect world in their image, from the 18th-century French revolution to Communism to movements of the Right, including Fascism and Naziism, and many many more. To pull off their schemes they must drug people. Thus, the Book of Revelation speaks of the “seductions” of Babylon, the world system. In fact, Revelation 18:23 describes this allurement as “sorcery” that deceives whole nations — whole people groups. The Greek word translated “sorcery” is pharmakeia from which we get “pharmaceuticals” and other terms. The appeal of the elitist-ruled world system is powerful because it makes addicts of people, causing us to crave the imagery and the spiritual, mental, and emotional stimulations of modern Babylon.

My concern in my book, Who Will Rule The Coming ‘gods’: The Looming Spiritual Crisis of Artificial Intelligencewas not so much the machines as the human beings who wire into the devices a set of values, boundaries, and worldview The survival of the human race might hinge on the kinds of worldviews that shape the logic.[ii]

One hopes the creators of all the alluring platforms of public interaction will awaken to their responsibility as arenas that facilitate widespread conversation rather than propaganda machines of the global elite. It’s not the devices that ought to be at the center of concern, but the mighty people who create them in their image and have no sense of accountability to any ‘God’ than themselves.

The problem we struggle with is the inconvenient truth that God has put “eternity” in our hearts. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) We immerse ourselves in the intoxicants of Babylon, but discover that we are still not satisfied, and seek more…and more.

This is what the elites vie with one another to meet. Franklin Graham is not talking mere religion but reality when he says that our only hope is in God. Otherwise, we succumb to the seductions of Babylon and become slaves to those who would the be lords of our lives, nations, and cultures.

Broadcasters Bill Maher and Piers Morgan shredded what they described as “victim culture” and said that the necessity for trigger warnings ahead of films, videos, and more is nothing short of “pathetic.”

During Monday’s “Club Random with Bill Maher,” Maher spoke with Morgan and discussed what the two believe is the condition of today’s society. Approximately 30 minutes into the discussion, the legendary film “Gone with the Wind” came up during the conversation, prompting Maher to say, “By the way, that movie — entertaining as f***. And the people who need a disclaimer, this is the problem. You f***ing babies. It’s 1939. Can’t you just see by the film stock that things were very different?”

He continued, “Humans are like history in general, we evolve. Just celebrate we’re not racist any more and just be a grown-up.”

Morgan interjected, adding that constant disclaimers — including on comedy projects — are preposterous and noted that it’s apparent when jokes are clearly nothing more than jokes and “not intended to be remotely offensive to anybody.”

“And even that now needs a warning at the front in case anybody’s offended,” he continued. “What do they think is going to happen when you watch it? What happens to people? I mean do they sit there shaking?”

Maher added, “The fact this generation needs a trigger warning and a Klonopin to get through an episode of ‘Friends’ [is] pathetic.”

Morgan continued, noting that he believes the world places a “premium” on those who consider themselves victims.

“It is celebrated to be weak,” he reasoned.

Maher later added, “Well, it’s the end of the empire.”

Elsewhere during the discussion, Morgan said that gender identity is “all bulls**t.”

“I just find myself constantly feeling, what is going on with the world?” he said. “Like, I just saw in the U.K. today there was a thing about the fire service or something, they’re being ordered now to use him/her/them/their pronouns. Whatever. I said, ‘OK, well fine, let’s take this to the logical extension because pronouns are whatever you want to be, right? So, if I decide I want to identify myself as a d***head, which many people watching this might think is entirely —”

Maher interrupted, suggesting, “You know why they’re gonna think you’re a d***head? Because of the way you said those pronouns, you dismissed it. … It’s not my generation’s thing either, but I get it.”

Morgan then changed course and went on to recall a 2019 debate he had on “Good Morning Britain” in which he jokingly said he wanted to identify as a “two-spirit penguin” — a quip that prompted heavy criticism at the time.

“It’s all bulls**t,” he said.

Three months ago, Dartmouth College in New Hampshire canceled a College Republicans event featuring journalist Andy Ngo in response to violent threats made by Antifa activists and “concerning information” the school claimed it received from Hanover police. Now, the school is insisting that Dartmouth College Republicans pay $3,600 in security fees for the canceled event and warning that failure to pay the fees will result in the club being unable to request further funds from the school.

On Tuesday, the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education sent a letter to Dartmouth College demanding that the school “immediately rescind the security fee charge” and permit the College Republicans chapter to request funding to host future events.

“Forcing the group to shoulder these security costs — based on detractors’ disruption at no fault of the College Republicans — and refusing to fund future College Republicans events until these exorbitant fees are paid, infringes the expressive and associational rights Dartmouth promises to its students,” FIRE’s Sabrina Conza wrote to Dartmouth President Philip J. Hanlon.

The planned event with Ngo in January was moved online after his physical visit to campus was canceled. At the time, Dartmouth College claimed that it had received unspecified “concerning information” from Hanover police “regarding safety issues” for the event. In response to requests from FIRE for clarification about why the in-person event was canceled, the school said it was “deeply concerned about the credible threats to participant safety shared by local law enforcement” before the event with Ngo was scheduled to begin.

However, FIRE also requested clarification from the Hanover police, which shared public records and a letter from the police chief stating that law enforcement “did not make a recommendation to Dartmouth College regarding the January 20th event.”

The letter from Chief of Police Charles B. Dennis said that “the information and concerns we had received from student organizers, event organizers, the speaker, open-source information available online referencing the event, and information through law enforcement channels was credible and caused us concern for the safety of those attending the event, protesting the event, as well as our community members.”

“With the information we had, we were operationally prepared as best we could to handle the event and protest,” Dennis said.

In a statement to Inside Higher Ed, a spokesperson for Dartmouth College affirmed the school’s support for “freedom of expression and dissent.”

The school said that student organizations are responsible for event-related security costs and said that “leaders of the college Republican club were aware of their responsibility for security fees for the event and received an estimate in advance, with enough time to submit a funding request for these costs. They did not request this funding. The club was also aware of the possibility that the event might need to be adjusted to address safety concerns expressed by the organizers themselves.”

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, has diagnosed the disease that he believes is causing Netflix’s foreboding financial woes.

Netflix announced on Tuesday that it experienced its first net loss of subscribers in more than a decade during the first quarter of 2022. The streaming platform disclosed that 200,000 users dropped the service between January and March. The news caused shares of Netflix stock to tumble more than 25%, CNBC reported. Netflix previously told shareholders the company would experience a net gain of 2.5 million subscribers in the first quarter of 2022. To make matters worse, Netflix is now forecasting the loss of another 2 million subscribers in the second quarter of this year. Netflix’s stock further cratered more than 30% as of Wednesday afternoon.

Musk pointed to woke ideology as the source of Netflix’s subscriber and impending financial woes.

Responding to news of the significant stock tumble, Musk said, “The woke mind virus is making Netflix unwatchable.”

In response to another Twitter user who said the “woke mind virus is the biggest threat to the civilization,” Musk affirmed, “Yes.”

Indeed, Netflix has platformed provocatively progressive content. For example, Netflix hosts the show “Dear White People,” which is described as addressing the “complexities of prejudice that take different forms — whether it’s white or light-skinned privilege, sexism, or homophobia.”

Netflix is also scheduled to release a new show on Thursday called “He’s Expecting.” As the title suggests, the show is centered on a pregnant male character. Netflix describes the show: “When a successful ad executive who’s got it all figured out becomes pregnant, he’s forced to confront social inequities he’d never considered before.”

Netflix is also working with Ibram X. Kendi to adapt his anti-racist work into film projects, and the platform released a show about Colin Kaepernick last year. The platform attributed its subscriber decline and bleak forecast to market factors outside the company’s control, account sharing, competition (from Amazon, Disney, YouTube, Hulu, and others), and other “macro factors” including “sluggish economic growth, increasing inflation, geopolitical events such as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and some continued disruption from COVID.”

HHS isn’t run by honest medical professionals. It’s in the grip of ideologues determined to destroy troubled children.

The nation’s public-health establishment lost all credibility during the Covid era by either ignoring or politicizing scientific data. But health bureaucrats seem to have learned nothing. With respect to the highly charged issue of gender dysphoria, they continue to substitute politics for science when necessary to advance the leftist narrative.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently released an official document designed to enshrine experimental medical interventions as the standard treatment for transgender-identifying children. Prepared by HHS’s Office of Population Affairs (OPA), the document is a political statement unmoored from actual medical research.

According to Gender-Affirming Care and Young People,” medical interventions such as puberty-blocking drugs, wrong-sex hormones, and surgical mutilation are “crucial to overall health” of young people confused about their sex. (For what it’s worth, OPA falls under the supervision of Dr. Rachel Levine, a man who identifies as a woman.) The document complements a proposed rule announced by HHS in March, mandating insurance coverage for such “gender-affirming care.”

But the claims made in HHS’s new release have been deftly dismantled by an organization of physicians and scientists who still care about reality, and about ethical medical practice. The Society for Evidence Based Gender Medicine (SEGM which exists “to promote safe, compassionate, ethical and evidence-informed healthcare for children, adolescents, and young adults with gender dysphoria”  points out that HHS’s discussion is deeply misleading and indeed dangerous. SEGM identifies seven serious misrepresentations of fact crammed into the two-page HHS document. Most of these involve cherry-picking, distorting, or simply ignoring the results of studies on the many facets of so-called gender-affirming treatment.

HHS Mischaracterizes Studies

For example, HHS flatly mischaracterizes a study that failed to find any benefits of “social transition” (presenting oneself as the opposite sex, with a new name, hairstyle, dress, etc.). As SEGM notes, the HHS document cites that study for the opposite conclusion, “wrongly assert[ing] that social transition improves functioning.” HHS presumably assumes readers won’t read the actual study and thus will accept the agency’s false claims about its findings.

SEGM identifies other falsifications of the supposed mental-health benefits of wrong-sex hormones and surgeries. HHS’s “claims of benefits coming from cherry-picked studies do not hold up when the entire body of evidence is properly evaluated in a systematic and reproducible way,” according to SEGM.

The design of the studies cited by HHS made it impossible to link medical interventions and improved mental health, SEGM observes. By contrast, multiple European studies “concluded that there is a lack of convincing evidence for the mental health benefit for children and adolescents of either puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones.”

SEGM notes, in fact, that the Swedish health authority warned that “the risks of puberty suppressing treatment . . . and gender-affirming hormonal treatment currently outweigh the possible benefits, and that the treatments should be offered only in exceptional cases.”

HHS ignored all this research, which would have led honest medical professionals to at least acknowledge the scholarly debate about the wisdom of these interventions. But HHS isn’t run by honest medical professionals. It’s in the grip of ideologues determined to drive troubled children and their families into the clutches of the trans industry.

Dishonest Use of Data on Suicide

SEGM also criticizes the HHS document for dishonesty about the related issue of suicide among trans-identifying youth. In claiming alarmingly high rates of suicidal ideation in this population — a claim routinely used to pressure desperate parents into consenting to dangerous medical interventions — HHS relies only on “a low quality, non-probability online survey.”

In fact, SEGM reports, “recent research from one of the world’s largest pediatric gender clinics estimated the rate of suicide in trans-identified youth as 0.03% over a 10-year period, which is comparable to youth presenting for care with mental health problems.”

Even more critically, despite HHS’s strong implication that drugs, hormones, and surgeries reduce suicide rates, SEGM clarifies that “no study to date has demonstrated that transition reduces the rate of serious suicide attempts.” Is HHS afraid that telling the truth about suicide will make parents less likely to place their troubled children on the trans-industry conveyor belt?

Puberty Blockers Are Not Fully Reversible

The mendacity of HHS extends beyond misrepresenting or ignoring studies. For example, the document states, without supporting citation, that puberty blockers are fully reversible (i.e., natural puberty will resume once the drugs are discontinued). But SEGM warns about the utter dearth of research supporting this claim. In fact,

concerns have been raised that puberty blockers are psychologically irreversible (since over 95% of all treated youth proceed to cross-sex hormones), that they may harm bone development, may permanently alter the brain, that it is not yet known how they affect other vital organs, all of which undergo significant structural changes during uninterrupted puberty.

Once again, public-health agencies in Europe are more honest. As SEGM reports, Britain’s National Health Service says that “[l]ittle is known about the long-term side effects of hormone or puberty blockers in children with gender dysphoria.”

But ignoring the risks of these interventions is HHS’s modus operandi. SEGM calls out the HHS ideologues for mentioning only the supposed (in some cases imaginary) benefits of interventions while failing to mention documented risks to bone development, cardiovascular health, and the mental health of patients who later regret their transition decisions.

Sterility Expected After Trans Treatments

SEGM particularly targets HHS’s failure to mention the effect on reproductive health, which is supposed to be the focus of Levine’s Office of Population Affairs. “When puberty blockers are administered in early puberty and followed by cross-sex hormones,” SEGM notes, “sterility is expected.”

HHS is silent about this potentially devastating consequence. Nor does it acknowledge the “serious ethical questions about whether adolescents can be considered competent to waive their future reproductive rights at an age when they are unlikely to be able to appreciate or predict the importance of fertility to their adult selves.”

Ethics, it appears, is not HHS’s strong suit.

HHS also misleads in stating that mutilating surgeries are “typically used in adulthood or case-by-case in adolescence.” In fact, as SEGM notes, draft recommendations from the influential (though highly politicized) World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) urge broad availability of mastectomies to patients at age 16.

Even worse, patients as young as 13 had their healthy breasts removed as part of a study funded by the National Institutes of Health – i.e., by you and me through our tax dollars. The HHS bureaucrats who prepared this report surely knew this, but distort the facts.

This HHS document, then, is a farce. As SEGM summarizes, HHS inadequately reviewed the scientific literature, issued “biased recommendations that do not acknowledge the low quality of evidence,” failed to solicit input from professionals and patients whose experiences contradict the government narrative, and utterly ignored possible alternatives to medical interventions, such as psychotherapy. The result:

This incomplete representation of the relevant issues is likely to mislead the public to believe that this is the best and only alternative, particularly when no other alternatives are mentioned. The public is also likely to erroneously assume that the risks of affirmative care are low. Patients and families are not capable of providing valid informed consent when the information they receive is inaccurate and incomplete

If the public-health establishment wants to rehabilitate its tattered reputation after the Covid debacle, this isn’t the way to do it. Health policy is too important to be entrusted to political hacks.

Our nation has been rocked by at least two significant acts of domestic terrorism in a five-month span. Last week, Frank James opened fire in a New York City subway, injuring 23 people. In November, Darrell Brooks drove his SUV through a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, killing 6 people and injuring 60 others.

Both perpetrators are black, which is a bit unusual given that mass shootings have historically been perpetrated by white men. More significantly, both Brooks and James had expressed radical views on social media advocating violence towards whites in the lead-up to their attacks, strongly suggesting race relations were a key motive for their acts of violence. (Naturally, the mainstream media has neglected to find out if it was indeed their motivation).

Ditto for Quintez Brown, a Black Lives Matter activist who was charged with the attempted assassination of Louisville mayoral candidate Craig Greenberg in February, and Micah Johnson, who killed five Dallas police officers in 2016. Meanwhile, public perceptions about the state of race relations in the country have plummeted.

These anecdotes, particularly during increasing dissemination of critical race theory (CRT), suggest CRT has been a detriment to racial progress rather than a force for good. The harmful impacts of CRT on race relations are unsurprising when considering several of its basic tenets.

CRT Teaches America Is Racist

The New York Times Magazine’s “1619 Project,” the brainchild of Nikole Hannah-Jones, expresses a historical view in which America’s true founding was in 1619, the year African slaves were first brought to the United States. American history is thus viewed and analyzed through a lens of anti-black racism.

For example, Hannah-Jones controversially asserts that the Revolutionary War was primarily fought to preserve slavery, argues that the U.S. Constitution was meticulously crafted to establish a “slavocracy,” and criticizes Abraham Lincoln’s approach to the issue of slavery and race. Similarly, a report last June from our very own National Archives argued that America’s founding documents are steeped in “systemic racism.”

Philadelphia-based attorney and radio host Michael Coard perhaps best sums up the CRT view of American history, as he decried the Fourth of July as “a celebration of kidnapping, transporting/buying/selling human beings, separating families, torture, whippings, rapes, castrations, lynchings and enslavement.” The conclusion, then, is that the history of slavery persists, impacting all aspects of American life to this very day.

CRT Teaches American Government Is Racist

The Constitution remains the law of the land, and if you believe that the Constitution is racist, then it follows that the American system of government, which is based on the Constitution, is also racist. This is a core argument of CRT: American institutions, including the Electoral College, the Senate, and the Second Amendment have all recently been attacked as systemically racist to justify their abolition.

In the words of The Nation’s Elie Mystal,“[t]he Constitution is kind of trash… It was written by slavers and colonists, and white people who were willing to make deals with slavers and colonists. They didn’t ask anybody who looked like me what they thought about the Constitution.”

Allegations of widespread government-sanctioned suppression of minority voters also continue to persist. Therefore, according to CRT, minorities are forced to live in a system designed to oppress them, and the system is too flawed to allow for any reform internally.

CRT: Non-Whites Cannot Succeed Within the System

Perhaps most important to CRT and “wokeness” is the tenet that you cannot truly be successful as a minority in America. This was most clearly illustrated in a July 2020 display at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, which accredited several objective measures of successful behavior (e.g. hard work, planning for the future, delayed gratification, the scientific method) as part of “White Culture.”

Minorities who achieve wealth and/or educational success in the United States are openly attacked as exhibiting “white characteristics” or “acting white.” Successful African-Americans who don’t adhere to every woke political or social stereotype are quickly dismissed as “cornball brothers,” “oreos,” or “Uncle Toms.”

Thus, success for minorities in America is not taken as evidence of racial progress, but as a sign of conformity with “white” values and a betrayal of racial identity.

That Leaves Violence as the Only Option

If you wholeheartedly believe in those three statements, violence inevitably becomes your only option for progress. You live in an oppressive society, with built-in systems of oppression that prevent you from altering that society, and have no way to be successful within the system while staying true to yourself. Your only alternative is to destroy that system.

That is the thought process that Brooks and James expressed. “White people and Black people should not have any contact with each other,” James argued. A June 2020 tweet by Brooks was even more direct: “[W]hen we start bakk knokkin white people TF out ion wanna hear it…the old white ppl 2, KNOKK DEM TF OUT!! PERIOD.”

Of course, the leaders of the CRT movement who craft these beliefs and pass them on to others clearly don’t believe their own teachings. Prominent CRT figures such as Ibram KendiPatrisse Cullors, and Robin DiAngelo have achieved tremendous financial and professional success within the very systems they rail against. They are able to live in upscale neighborhoods and run in social circles that are far removed from the violence and poverty that plague many minority neighborhoods.

The corporate, educational, and entertainment institutions that score public relationship points by peddling CRT propaganda are similarly largely insulated from the harm that their teachings cause. Unfortunately for passengers on the New York subway and parade-goers in Waukesha, some people believe in CRT wholeheartedly, and thus embrace violence as the ultimate solution to systemic racism.

Florida recently passed an anti-groomer law for their schools. No longer will teachers be able to push overtly sexual material to kindergarteners up to third graders. This makes the Democrats crazy! They love their school grooming exercises. How sick.

Jen Psaki is a perfect example of this warped thinking. Psaki recently sat down for an interview with podcaster Jessica Yellin. Psaki told the leftist podcaster that anti-groomer laws bring her to tears.

Via Breitbart.com:

White House press secretary Jen Psaki broke down in tears over anti-grooming laws in an interview with podcaster Jessica Yellin on Tuesday.

“I’m going to get emotional about this issue because it’s horrible … This is an issue that makes me completely crazy,” Psaki said when she was asked about laws passing in Republican states restricting schools on transgender issues and sexual identity and giving parents more control of their child’s education.

The laws, like the one passed in Florida, prohibit discussions about sexual identity and gender in school classes with young children and prevent school officials from transitioning a child’s gender without the parent’s consent.

Psaki said the laws were “cruel” and did not represent the majority of Americans.

“It’s like kids who are bullied and all these leaders are taking steps to hurt them and hurt their lives and hurt their families,” she wept.

She scolded Republicans for using the laws as a “political wedge issue” in the ongoing culture war fights in the United States.

“The political games and harsh and cruel attempts at laws, or laws that we’re seeing in some states like Florida, … that is not a reflection of the country moving to oppose LGBTQ+ communities,” she said.

This is what happens when corrupt politicians steal the White House.  The American people have no idea who is running the show behind the scenes of the Biden regime.  Americans know that the Bidens were involved in Ukraine in financial deals in the past so does this still continue?

We know that Hunter Biden was on the Board of a Ukrainian company along with his friend connected to John Kerry.   They made millions being on the Burisma Board despite knowing nothing about oil and gas.  They did not even speak the native Ukrainian language.  When a local prosecutor began looking into Hunter’s arrangement, Joe Biden had the prosecutor removed and fired.  Then he bragged about it later in front of an audience.

Well “son of a bitch”, now Biden is back in the business of sending billions to Ukraine.  After his previous corruption in the country, how can any American trust that the dollars Biden is awarding to Ukraine will ever get there?  This is a serious question.

In March, Biden and Congress arranged for nearly $16 billion for Ukraine.  This was at first $10 billion along with an additional $6 billion.  We have no idea if this ever made it over there or not.

Now there are reports that Biden has provided another $3 billion to Ukraine.  This is reportedly in military aid.

Vowing to “stand with Ukraine,” President Joe Biden and his administration have committed nearly $2.6 billion in U.S. military aid to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion Feb. 24, supplying a range of weapons for Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression.

The latest round, $800 million, was authorized Wednesday. Since August, nearly $2.8 billion has been specifically allocated for military assistance, but the White House said the total amount of aid is closer to $3.2 billion since Biden took office. That would include money from a $13.6 budget bill Biden signed in March that contained money to arm Ukrainians.

There’s also been indirect assistance to allies such as a Patriot missile system the United States repositioned to Slovakia after its government agreed to supply an S-300 air defense system to Ukraine.

“We won’t be able to advertise every piece of security we give because our allies and partners are supplying to Ukraine through us,” Biden said last week, “but advanced weapons and ammunition are flowing in every single day.”

Based on the numbers reported to date there is somewhere near $20 billion going to Ukraine from Joe Biden.  But does anyone really trust the Bidens enough to believe this money will make its way to Ukraine?  Or is there another 10% going to the big guy?

The same people who relentlessly insisted that Big Tech’s censorship campaign was totally fine are now screaming that a potential buyout of Twitter by Elon Musk poses a certified Threat to Democracy. But we’ve heard this absurd routine before, and it’s not really democracy they’re worried about. The Big Tech, big media, and big government cabal just whine about democracy being under siege when their own power conglomerate is threatened.

“I am frightened by the impact on society and politics if Elon Musk acquires Twitter. He seems to believe that on social media anything goes,” fretted The Washington Post’s Max Boot last week, after the Tesla and SpaceX CEO offered to buy the entirety of Twitter stock. “For democracy to survive, we need more content moderation, not less.”

Former New York Magazine writer Jesse Singal had the very intelligent take that even the possibility of Musk buying out Twitter was “America’s very first 9/11,” while Salon’s Matthew Rozsa blared that “Elon Musk’s attempted takeover of Twitter is a threat to the free world.”

The idea of losing some power to silence opposing viewpoints on social media is terrifying to these people — so terrifying that in their panic they don’t even realize they’ve admitted their own gluttony for control.

But this isn’t the first time the group of people in media, tech platforms, and politics who want to control what you think have seen pushback on their vise grip and gone ballistic. And a “threat to democracy” is their favorite label with which to smear anything that challenges their power.

The most obvious example is the systematic campaign to convince the country that a five-hour riot at the U.S. Capitol — which, contrary to media lies, did not cause the deaths of five people — was as bad as or worse than the terror attacks of 9/11, Pearl Harbor, and the Civil War. You don’t have to defend the Jan. 6, 2021 riot to recognize that America’s own justice system indicates it was neither an “insurrection” nor a “terrorist attack,” despite the hysteria of the corporate press.

But that’s not the only instance. Just think back to when The Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin cried “Democracy is hanging by a thread” when an elected majority in the U.S. Senate, including West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, determined not to pass President Joe Biden’s Build Back Bankrupt plan. For Rubin and others, actual democracy at work was just too much of a threat to … democracy.

Meanwhile, The Atlantic has called the entire Republican Party “a grave threat to American democracy,” with similar smears from Business Insider and the Chicago Sun-Times.

When concerned parents showed up to school board meetings to protest racist and radical sex ideology in their kids’ classrooms, they were labeled not just a threat to democracy but domestic terrorists, in a smear campaign that was revealed to be orchestrated by President Joe Biden’s own Department of Education.

New York Magazine’s Eric Levitz worried that the U.S. Supreme Court was too conservative, threatening that “the consequences for … popular democracy could be dire.”

Vox, among others, has declared that the constitutionally prescribed Electoral College “poses a … long-term threat to American democracy.” It has also claimed the constitutionally prescribed half of our bicameral legislature known as the U.S. Senate poses an even greater one.

And of course, nearly everyone on the left whined that questions about the rigging of the 2020 election were existential threats to democracy, after they spent years deriding President Donald Trump’s 2016 win as illegitimate.”

It’s more than obvious by now that these people don’t truly want democracy or freedom, but power. When their control — over what laws are passed, who wins elections, what’s taught to kids in schools, or what you’re allowed to say on social media — is challenged, including by actual democratic processes like fair elections, free speech, or the will of a congressional majority, they’ll rush to call the challenger an enemy of democracy itself.

Just like Dr. Anthony Fauci equating himself with Science, these members of the ruling class want you to believe that an attack on their power is an attack on our entire political order. If they succeed in that, they can insulate themselves from all critique and silence the opposition, either via the power of cancel culture and self-censorship, or by simply locking the accounts of their critics.

But their propensity to fall back on that sham defense every time their rule is threatened has revealed just how desperate they are for control, and just how ridiculous they are willing to sound to maintain it. If they felt confident they could maintain power without smearing every opponent as the next big threat to the free world, there would be no need for such distracting theatrics. Instead, they’re so fragile that making any chink in their armor will get you labeled as America’s (next) “first 9/11.”

Next time you hear cries that something is a “threat to our very democracy itself, even graver than all the other, formerly-gravest threats to democracy,” it should be your first clue that that thing, good or bad, is making the censorship class quake in their silk slippers. Your second thought should be to expect them to exploit the “democracy” fearmongering for even more control — and your third thought should be to keep that the heck from happening.

Hundreds of hypocritical nonprofits implicitly endorse eagle elimination because they oppose nuclear energy and promote wind turbines.

On April 6, energy firm NextEra pleaded guilty to three federal charges of killing eagles with wind turbines. The plea included an $8 million fine, an agreement to pay almost $30,000 for future eagle kills, and a commitment to spend $27 million to prevent future kills.

The penalties should have been worse. Prosecutors alleged NextEra’s raptor-slayers had executed 150 eagles in eight states.

NextEra didn’t act alone. Hundreds of hypocritical nonprofits implicitly endorse eagle elimination because they oppose nuclear energy and promote massive build-out of wind turbines. Their combined annual budgets exceed $1 billion. The notorious list includes the Natural Resources Defense Council, the League of Conservation Voters, the Sierra Club, and the Environmental Defense Fund. Financial support comes from big names such as the Ford Foundation.

A March 2021 Department of Energy report stated that a “typical” nuclear plant “needs a little more than 1 square mile to operate,” while “wind farms require 360 times more land area to produce the same amount of electricity and solar photovoltaic plants require 75 times more space.”

Supporters of wind energy are not conservationists. There’s nothing “clean” about energy that devours hundreds of times the land needed by another carbon-free option and then needlessly wipes out eagles as a cost of doing business.

Renewables Can’t Meet Energy Needs

President Joe Biden hasn’t learned this yet. In his March 1 State of the Union address he pledged to “double America’s clean energy production in solar, wind, and so much more.”

But despite hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies already given out, solar, and wind together still accounted for less than 5 percent of total American energy consumption in 2020. Biden’s speech didn’t mention increasing production of nuclear or the other fuels that account for 95 percent of the energy we need.

In 2020 the combined output of every wind turbine and solar panel on Earth was 6,037 TWh (terawatt hours). In comparison, the American nuclear program alone produced 2,051 TWh, even as it represented just 8.4 percent of total U.S. energy consumption.

Conservationists Should Support Nuclear Energy

If the president, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and the rest were conservationists, they’d ditch the wasteful wind subsidies and instead demand a doubling (or more) of carbon-free nuclear energy. The Department of Energy reports uranium is “a common metal found in rocks all over the world” and “economically recoverable” in the United States and more than a dozen other nations.

France obtained 36.1 percent of total energy consumption from nuclear in 2020. Of the five richest and largest industrial economies, the French are the least carbon intensive per capita. In 2020, French carbon emissions measured 3.8 tCO2 per person, compared to 4.6 for the United Kingdom, 7.0 for Germany, 8.2 for Japan, and 13.0 for the United States.

If 36 percent of American energy consumption in 2020 had been nuclear, that could have theoretically displaced all of the coal and nearly half of oil consumption. (Although this would have required many more vehicles to run on electricity).

Fake conservationists are marching us in the other direction. Last April the Natural Resources Defense Council and Environmental Defense Fund cheered the closure of the Indian Point nuclear station in upstate New York. In an absurd defense of the weather-restricted power industry, the Sierra Club released a graphic showing house cats kill more birds than wind turbines.

Well, yes, house cats prey upon America’s inexhaustible supply of quickly reproducing sparrows, robins, and other small birds. For the Sierra Club to equate this with wind turbines wiping out big and slow-to-reproduce predators is as silly as saying a Formula One racer is comparable to what is found at a roadside used car lot.

Protecting Wild Animals and the Wide Open

Quoted by NPR after the federal plea deal, the leader of the eagle-killing wind firm copped a Sierra Club attitude: “NextEra President Rebecca Kujawa said collisions of birds with wind turbines are unavoidable accidents that should not be criminalized.”

Every single one of those collisions is avoidable, because wind turbines themselves are avoidable. We’d be knocking almost all of them down if the sanctimonious anti-nuclear nonprofits acted like conservationists who enjoy witnessing wild animals and wide-open spaces.

To the Biden White House, the final working day of last week wasn’t Good Friday—and it wasn’t Jackie Robinson Day, either. To borrow an analogy from “The West Wing,” the Biden White House used last Friday as “Take Out the Trash Day,” dumping out President Biden’s 2021 tax returns late on a Friday afternoon, ahead of the Easter and Passover holidays.

This year, Tax Day didn’t come until Monday, April 18. One would think that, because Biden has released his tax returns and his predecessor did not, he would want to highlight this fact in a very public manner. Why didn’t Biden wait until Monday, and hold a big press conference where he could wave around his returns for everyone to see, to emphasize the fact that he’s “not like Donald Trump”?

Because Biden does have something to hide. He apparently has a dirty little secret—actually, it’s a pretty big secret—that he doesn’t want the American people to learn about. According to his own Treasury Department, Biden didn’t “pay his fair share” in taxes, and hasn’t for several years.

Corporate Loophole

I have written about this issue on several previous occasions. Upon leaving the vice presidency in January 2017, Biden and his wife Jill established two S-corporations to handle their book and speech income. By characterizing most of their income as profits from the corporations rather than wages, the Bidens were able to avoid payroll taxes on more than $13 million worth of income.

In 2021, they were back at it again, writing off $61,995 in corporate profits as exempt from payroll taxes, as evidenced on page 13 of their returns:

This $61,995 gets broken down in two ways: $29,234 comes from Joe Biden’s CelticCapri Corporation, while $32,761 comes from Jill Biden’s Giacoppa Corporation. In the president’s case, Biden avoided paying 3.8 percent tax on his nearly $30,000 in corporate profits—2.9 percent that funds Medicare, and an additional 0.9 percent imposed by Obamacare. (So much for Biden’s claim that “Obamacare is personal to me.”)

Jill Biden, who earned roughly $67,000 as a teacher at Northern Virginia Community College last year, avoided far more in taxes, as she did not reach last year’s Social Security wage cap of $142,800. Because she would have had to pay Social Security taxes on all wages up to the wage cap, classifying her nearly $33,000 in book income as corporate profits rather than wages meant Jill Biden didn’t just avoid paying Medicare taxes on these earnings—she avoided paying Social Security taxes as well.

All told, the Bidens seem to have dodged more than $6,100 in Medicare and Social Security taxes in 2021 alone:

              Joe Biden: $1,110.89 ($29,234 times 3.8 percent)

              Jill Biden: $5,012.43 ($32,761 times 15.3 percent)

This tax evasion comes after the Bidens appear to have previously avoided at least $517,000 in Medicare and Obamacare taxes from 2017 through 2020.

At least part of their scheme included potentially illegal tactics. As I have alleged in a complaint to the IRS regarding both Biden’s tax returns and his accountant’s conduct, I—along with many other tax experts—believe that in 2017 and 2018, Biden paid himself such a low salary as to violate IRS guidelines on “reasonable compensation.”

Treasury Says Biden Didn’t ‘Pay His Fair Share’

Regardless of whether the Bidens’ 2021 returns also violated tax laws, they constitute very clear hypocrisy—as one might expect from a career Washington politician. Note this passage from last year’s Treasury budget making the argument for closing the very loophole Biden continued to exploit in office, just as he had the past four years:

Different treatment [i.e., allowing S-corporation profits to avoid payroll tax] is unfair, inefficient, distorts choice of organizational form, and provides tax planning opportunities for business owners, particularly those with high incomes, to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.

If Biden really cared about the wealthy “paying their fair share,” he would look in the mirror, get out his checkbook, and write a check for the hundreds of thousands of dollars in Medicare and Obamacare taxes he appears to have dodged for the past five years. That would involve practicing what one preaches—or in other words, having integrity. Try that some time, Mr. President.

If outfits like the Aspen Institute’s Commission on Information Disorder,” along with Big Tech’s faceless “fact-checkers,” ever get a total monopoly on dictating reality, the result will be a 24/7 mix of falsehoods with the occasional limited hangout to cover up their lies. The icing on this fake cake is the use of conferences about disinformation, such as the recent stunt at the University of Chicago that served as cover for justifying political censorship. There former President Obama presented the perfect picture of psychological projection: a panel of propagandists accusing others of wrongthink.

The Atlantic’s Anne Applebaum, for example, sought to censor the reality of the Hunter Biden laptop scandal by announcing she didn’t find it “interesting.” See how that works? Truth depends upon how our elites personally feel about what should be true. But it gets much worse, because political censorship creates deep dysfunction in society. In fact, the surest way to kill a democracy is to practice political censorship under the guise of protecting society from disinformation.

Censorship causes disinformation. It’s the grandaddy of disinformation, not a solution to it. The sooner everyone recognizes this obvious fact, the better off we’ll be. Whenever a self-anointed elite sets up a Ministry of Truth, the link between censorship and disinformation becomes clear. Before long, they invent reality and punish anyone who expresses a different viewpoint.

So, it’s no small irony that those who claim to be protecting “democracy” from disinformation are the biggest promoters of disinformation and greatest destroyers of real democracy. Their dependence on censorship obstructs the circulation of facts. It prevents any worthwhile exchange of ideas.

Unchecked Censorship Isolates People

Consider what happens if a society is only permitted one propagandistic narrative while all other ideas and information are silenced. People start self-censoring to avoid social rejection. The result is a form of imposed mental isolation. Severely isolated people tend to lose touch with reality. The resulting conformity also perpetuates the censorship. This is unnatural and dangerous because human beings depend on others to verify what’s real. People weren’t able to verify reality in Nazi Germany, during Joseph Stalin’s Reign of Terror, or during Mao Zedong’s brutal Cultural Revolution. All were societies in the grip of mass hysteria because of ruthless censorship to protect a narrative.

As psychiatrist Joost Meerloo noted in his book “The Rape of the Mind,” no matter how well-meaning political censorship might be, it creates dangerous conformity of thought: “the presence of minority ideas, acceptable or not, is one of the ways in which we protect ourselves against the creeping growth of conformist majority thinking.”

The only way we can strengthen ourselves against such contagion is through real freedom of speech that allows fully open discussion and debate. However, if we’re confined by Big Tech to a relentless echo chamber and punished for expressing different thoughts, we’ll just keep getting more and more disinformation. In fact, we are now drowning in the distortions produced by “fact-checkers.” Take, for example, narratives that promote the gender confusion and sexualization of children. Public school teachers routinely post TikTok videos of themselves spewing forth their gender confusion. And if someone calls out Disney for its open grooming of children, Twitter suspends them.

If we never push back against such absurdities, we ultimately end up in a state of mass delusion, each of us a cell in a deluded hive mind, obedient to commands about what to say, how to act, and what to think. To get an idea of what that looks like in a population, check out this clip from North Korea:

Censorship-Invoked Social Contagion Is Real

One of the most telling incidents of censorship over the past year was YouTube and Twitter’s take-down of virologist and vaccine inventor Dr. Robert Malone, claiming he was “spreading misinformation”—i.e., spreading a second opinion—about Covid vaccines and treatments. But big tech saw an even bigger threat in Malone’s discussion of Mattias Desmet’s study of Mass Formation Psychosis (MFP) on Joe Rogan’s popular podcast. This is a big reason Spotify was under pressure to de-platform Rogan entirely. Open discussion of such things would erode the illusions big media and big tech so doggedly prop up.

Malone explained how a propaganda-saturated population can end up in a state of mass hypnosis that renders people incapable of seeing reality. He described Desmet’s theory about how social isolation, a high level of discontent, and a strong sense of free-floating anxiety are keys to the development of this psychosis.

The anxiety is so painful that it causes people to cling, trancelike, to any narrative that seems to offer stability. Once all other views are censored, people become so invested in the narrative that they cannot consider any alternative views. They will even mob anyone who endangers the narrative. This phenomenon was prevalent in the German population under Nazism. Their obedience to the propaganda rendered them incapable of understanding any opposing narrative.

Mass psychosis should not sound farfetched. There’s nothing new about it. Hundreds of instances of mass hysteria are documented. In the 19th century, Scottish journalist Charles MacKay wrote up a whole catalog of them. In 2015 medical sociologist Robert Bartholomew co-authored a compendium of popular delusions or “mass sociogenic illness.”

Most past incidents of mass hysteria have been confined to geographic regions, such as the witch trials in 17th century Salem, Massachusetts. But with the internet accessible and addictive in the 2020s, the possibility of mass delusion on a global scale is upon us. Censorship—in the name of protecting “democracy” from disinformation—is the key to creating it.

Propagandists Guard Their Illusions Like Magicians

By definition, propaganda aims to psychologically affect people and change their attitudes. So, our social survival depends upon becoming aware of such phenomena. Building self-awareness about our vulnerability to crowd psychology would serve as a sort of psychological vaccine. Of course, elites do not want us even entertaining the possibility that we can be manipulated or vulnerable to social and psychological pressures. Propagandists are illusionists by nature. If their illusion falls apart, then the game is over for them. This is why they depend so heavily on the slur “conspiracy theorist” to distract us from the truth and from their use of censorship to cut us off from other ideas.

The late Nobel laureate Doris Lessing spoke against the dangers of social conformity and censorship in 1986. She noted there was a great body of knowledge that was continuing to be built about the laws of crowd psychology and social contagion. It was odd that we weren’t applying this knowledge to improve our lives. Lessing concluded that no government in the world would willingly help its citizens resist group pressures and learn to think independently. We have to do it ourselves. Fast forward to the twenty-first century, and it sure looks like the keepers of this secret knowledge use it as a means of social control.

No sane person would want to live inside the boxes that the censors who claim to be fighting disinformation are building around us. If we want to escape this Twilight Zone existence, we must destroy that canard and insist on real freedom of speech everywhere.

Massachusetts parents Stephen Foote and Marissa Silvestri have filed suit against their children’s school district and a number of school district officials, claiming that the school officials encouraged their child to use new pronouns and a new name without their consent, according to a report from Fox News. According to the complaint, school officials initially contacted the plaintiffs in December of 2020 after their daughter reported complaints of feeling depressed and of “experiencing insecurity, low self-esteem, poor self-image, and a perceived lack of popularity.” Their daughter also reportedly expressed to school officials that she was experiencing same-sex attraction. The parents expressed thankfulness to school officials for alerting them, and engaged mental health professionals to counsel their daughter.

The parents reportedly then sent an email to teachers, stating, “I appreciate your concern and would like to let you know that her father and I will be getting her the professional help she needs at this time. With that being said, we request that you do not have any private conversations with B. in regards to this matter. Please allow us to address this as a family and with the proper professionals.”

The parents allege in their complaint that this directive was ignored by school officials, who permitted her to change her used name “at least twice” between December 2020 and June 2021, which they only discovered when teachers inadvertently sent email communications to the parents regarding a homework assignment for their child that did not use her given name. The complaint also alleges that the school counselor “in direct contravention to their explicit instructions,” continued to counsel their daughter regarding her alleged “discordant gender identity,” and affirmed this “discordant identity and name.”

The complaint alleges further that in February 2021, the plaintiffs’ daughter sent an email to school officials informing them that she was genderqueer,” preferred to use a new name, and that “A list of pronouns you can use are: she/her he/him they/them fae/faerae/aer ve/ver xe/xem ze/zir. I have added a link so you can look at how to say them.” The complaint alleges that the school counselor responded to this email by directing other school officals that the parents were not to be notified of this and that school officials should comply with this request. The complaint further alleges that, after this point, school officials summarily disregarded the parents’ rights to direct the mental health care of their daughter, and repeatedly affirmed that their daughter, who was struggling with feelings of unpopularity, was “brave and awesome” for declaring that she was “genderqueer” and wanted to be called by a new name.

In a statement to MassLive about the lawsuit, Ludlow School Committee Chair claimed that the school was acting with the students’ best interest in mind: “It’s a slippery slope. We want to support our students the best we can. But we should bring parents to the table, and hope they respond in a loving and supportive way as well.”

A public university in Ohio will pay $400,000 to a philosophy professor who refused to use a student’s preferred pronouns. The settlement arrives four years after the school punished the professor for not using a student’s preferred pronouns. The legal team for the professor argued the university violated the professor’s First Amendment rights.

During a political philosophy class in January 2018, Shawnee State University professor Nick Meriwether responded to a biological male student’s question by saying, “Yes, sir.” When the class ended, the student confronted Meriwether. The student declared to be transgender, and to be referred to as a woman, with feminine titles and pronouns.

“When Meriwether did not instantly agree, the student became belligerent and promised to get Meriwether fired,” according to the Alliance Defending Freedom.

The student filed a complaint with the university, which triggered a formal investigation into the incident.

Meriwether said the pronouns would force him to speak and act “contrary to his own Christian convictions and philosophical beliefs.” Meriwether reportedly offered to address the student by the individual’s first or last name, but the student insisted the professor use the preferred pronouns.

Shawnee State University also rejected Meriwether’s compromise, and claimed that “he effectively created a hostile environment.” The university also slapped the professor with a written warning in his personnel file and threatened “further corrective actions” unless he used the student’s preferred pronouns.

Meriwether countered with a lawsuit, asserting that the Portsmouth-based school violated his First Amendment rights and his 14th Amendment right to due process. The lawsuit was dismissed in February 2020, but was revived by the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in March 2021.

“[Shawnee State University] punished a professor for his speech on a hotly contested issue. And it did so despite the constitutional protections afforded by the First Amendment,” a three-judge panel wrote in their unanimous opinion. “The district court dismissed the professor’s free-speech and free-exercise claims. We see things differently and reverse.”

On Thursday, the Alliance Defending Freedom announced that Meriwether had won his case against the university. Shawnee State University will pay $400,000 in damages and attorney’s fees to settle the federal lawsuit with Meriwether.

“As part of the settlement, the university has agreed that Meriwether has the right to choose when to use, or avoid using, titles or pronouns when referring to or addressing students,” the ADF declared. “Significantly, the university agreed Meriwether will never be mandated to use pronouns, including if a student requests pronouns that conflict with his or her biological sex.”

“This case forced us to defend what used to be a common belief – that nobody should be forced to contradict their core beliefs just to keep their job,” ADF Senior Counsel Travis Barham said in a statement. “Dr. Meriwether went out of his way to accommodate his students and treat them all with dignity and respect, yet his university punished him because he wouldn’t endorse an ideology that he believes is false.”

“We’re pleased to see the university recognize that the First Amendment guarantees Dr. Meriwether – and every other American – the right to speak and act in a manner consistent with one’s faith and convictions,” Barham said.

“Public universities should welcome intellectual and ideological diversity, where all students and professors can engage in meaningful discussions without compromising their core beliefs,” said ADF Senior Counsel Tyson Langhofer. “Dr. Meriwether rightly defended his freedom to speak and stay silent, and not conform to the university’s demand for uniformity of thought. We commend the university for ultimately agreeing to do the right thing, in keeping with its reason for existence as a marketplace of ideas.”

CNN host Brian Stelter was seemingly left surprised on Sunday after a guest on “Reliable Sources” bucked his narrative on White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s alleged insult of reporter Peter Doocy.

In January, President Joe Biden was caught on a hot mic calling Doocy, a White House correspondent for Fox News, a stupid son of a b****.”

During an interview on the left-wing podcast “Pod Save America” last week, Psaki was asked whether she agrees with Biden’s insult.

“He works for a network that provides people with questions that, nothing personal to any individual including Peter Doocy, but might make anyone sound like a stupid son of a b****,” Psaki responded, adding that she appreciated how Doocy handled Biden’s insult with “grace.”

Whereas Stelter defended Psaki, Lynn Sweet, Washington bureau chief for the Chicago Sun-Times, condemned Psaki for being unprofessional.

“She got lulled into losing her discipline. This podcast is made by her friends. They go back to the Kerry campaign. They worked in the Obama White House,” Sweet said.

“She was forgetting what her real job is, which is to communicate on behalf of the president. OK? She even repeated some of the swear words that the questioner asked in the question, upping the ante,” she added

After commending Psaki for acknowledging Doocy’s “grace,” Sweet said, “One other quick thing: It’s not a negative to consult your colleagues on what question to ask.”

Stelter responded to Sweet’s remarks with a puzzled look, only uttering, “Hmm, right,” before moving on.

“So, they’re defending his honor.” @brianstelter a few days ago was smirking at Fox’s “outrage” and implying Fox’s defense of Doocy was untrue and Psaki’s comment was fine.

However on Sunday @lynnsweet had a “little different view,” saying Psaki “was forgetting what her real job is,” and she appeared to catch @brianstelter off-guard in saying, “it’s not a negative to consult your colleagues on what question to ask.”

Originally tweeted by Caleb Howe (@CalebHowe) on April 18, 2022.

Last Friday, Stelter defended Psaki and suggested that Doocy is a puppet for Fox News, the exact point that Sweet chided last.

“I think the point she’s trying to say there is that Fox pushes storylines that are sometimes nonsense. Doocy does that in the briefing room,” Stelter said.

“I think Jen Psaki’s like — remember in senior year, spring of your senior year, you’re about to graduate and you’re just tired of all this? I think we’re seeing that from Jen Psaki,” Stelter went on to say. “She’s about to leave the White house. She’s going to go to a job likely at MSNBC, so she’s kind of relaxing and maybe sharing how she really feels.”

“But, to be fair, she didn’t really criticize [Doocy] directly,” Stelter excused. “She was really criticizing Fox News as an organization.”

A federal judge in Florida on Monday declared the Biden administration’s mask mandate for public transportation unlawful.

U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump, ruled that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention exceeded its statutory authority by imposing masking requirements on airplanes, airports, and other forms of public transportation and transportation hubs. Mizelle wrote in a 59-page opinion that the agency did not follow proper procedure in issuing the masking order and failed to adequately explain its decisions.

“Because ‘our system does not permit agencies to act unlawfully even in pursuit of desirable ends,’ the Court declares unlawful and vacates the Mask Mandate,” the judge wrote.

The decision comes just days after the CDC extended the mask mandate for an additional two weeks, citing concerns over rising coronavirus cases cased by the BA.2 Omicron subvariant of the virus. The mandate is now set to expire May 3.

When the CDC extended the mask mandate for the fifth time last week, the agency said that the BA.2 subvariant is now the dominant coronavirus strain circulating in the U.S.

“Since early April, there have been increases in the 7-day moving average of cases in the U.S. The CDC Mask Order remains in effect while CDC assesses the potential impact of the rise of cases on severe disease, including hospitalizations and deaths, and healthcare system capacity,” the agency said in a news release.

The CDC and the Transportation Security Administration put masking requirements in place in January 2021, in response to an executive order from newly inaugurated President Joe Biden. Before Biden’s order, U.S. airlines and other forms of public transportation had voluntarily adopted masking rules in accordance with COVID-19 pandemic guidance from the CDC.

In recent months, the masking requirements for public transportation have become controversial as pandemic case numbers have fallen and many COVID-19 restrictions on other industries have been lifted. The CDC adjusted its masking guidance in February to permit about 70% of Americans to forgo face masks indoors because they lived in areas where the threat from the virus was low or moderate. As of March, all statewide mask mandates in the country have been lifted, with Hawaii being the last state to do so.

CDC officials have received widespread criticism for permitting indoor workplaces, restaurants, entertainment venues, and other places where large number of people gather to drop masking requirements while keeping restrictions in place for public transportation like airplanes.

The lawsuit to end the mask mandate was brought by the Health Freedom Defense Fund and two other individuals.

Rev. Franklin Graham will deliver an Easter message of hope from war-torn Ukraine, where he has seen the resiliency of the Ukrainian people who are fighting back against an invasion by Russia.

“The people that you meet and talk to [in Ukraine] are strong,” Rev. Graham told Fox News. “There’s no question there’s despair and there’s fear. But they are determined they are going to fight for their land. And I just admire the [Ukrainian] people for the stand that they’re taking.”

Graham said the worst suffering has occurred in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, where there is “famine and great food shortage.” The faith leader revealed that four Ukrainian people distributing food through Graham’s humanitarian aid charity Samaritan’s Purse were recently killed. The victims died “trying to help their own citizens, their own people,” Graham said.

“This may be one of the hardest countries that we have worked in,” he said of the crisis. “It’s a big country, the size of Texas. And transportation is an issue. They have trains, and trucks, and so forth, but fuel is a big issue. You can’t always get fuel.”

Samaritan’s Purse said their team of doctors and nurses has treated over 5,000 Ukrainian patients at six medical sites across Ukraine. The Christian charity has also airlifted more than 232 tons of emergency relief supplies to Ukraine, and utilized a network of over 3,200 churches to share medicine and food.

Graham said the Ukrainian “people are living in the shadow of death,” but still have the sense that God is with them.

“It’s obvious that these people have a strong faith in God,” Rev. Graham continued.

He pointed out that there are more than 5,000 churches in Ukraine, and they are “full on Sunday.”

“They’re packed. Catholic, Orthodox, Evangelical, Pentecostal, Baptist — they’re packed. The people’s faith is strong in Ukraine right now. Very strong,” the CEO and president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association said.

“In Ukraine, there are billboards that say, ‘Our only hope is God.’ We need some billboards like that here in this country,” he added. “I hope that our nation would wake up and see the problems we’re facing and realize that the only hope is God.”

“The problem we have in the world today is a sin problem,” Rev. Graham stressed. “People have turned their back on God.”

“The only hope is God. That’s the only hope. Only God can turn [our] nation around,” he proclaimed. “This Easter, I pray that people will look to God, pray to him and ask him for his help in all that we do — and that he’ll bless the nation.”

Graham declared, “But to do that, we’ve got to repent, turn from our sins and believe on the name of his son, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

“We [all] need to repent and turn from our sins. And maybe God will hear us from heaven,” Graham advised. “Pray for yourself. Just examine your heart. And if something’s not right in your life, confess it to God and turn from it. We need to look at ourselves.”

“I will be sharing a message the whole world needs to hear: Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, conquered sin and death 2,000 years ago when He rose victoriously from the grave,” Graham said of his Easter message. “This good news changes everything – for individual hearts, for communities, and for entire nations.”

Previously, Graham wrote to Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy requesting a ceasefire from April 15-24 in observance of the Easter holiday.

“It’s a mess. It’s going to get worse, I’m afraid,” Graham said of the conflict in Ukraine. “And what President Putin’s end game is, I don’t know. But I think we just need to pray that God can change his heart.”

“And I would recommend for people to pray for Putin. I don’t want to be misunderstood,” he clarified. “I want people to pray that God would change his heart. And turn his heart around, and that he would see the sin that he’s involved in. That he would repent and turn from it.”

He added, “And if we pray, that could happen.”

“God loves us, and Easter is about God’s love,” Graham said.

Graham’s Easter message from the Ukrainian city of Lviv airs on Fox News at 12 p.m. EST on Sunday.

Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein (CA), 88, is in such bad shape that her own Democrat colleagues want her to retire before her term expires at the end of 2024.

In December 2020, The New Yorker, citing people familiar with the matter, Feinstein had been “seriously struggling” and her short-term memory “has grown so poor that she often forgets she has been briefed on a topic, accusing her staff of failing to do so just after they have.” Feinstein has now significantly declined since the New Yorker’s report and Democrats are worried she cannot fulfill her duties.

According to Democrats who spoke to the San Francisco Chronicle on the condition of anonymity, Feinstein’s cognitive decline is so bad that a lawmaker had to reintroduce themselves to her multiple times during one encounter. The Chronicle spoke with four US Senators and three former Feinstein staffers about the California Senator’s cognitive decline.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported:

When a California Democrat in Congress recently engaged in an extended conversation with Sen. Dianne Feinstein, they prepared for a rigorous policy discussion like those they’d had with her many times over the last 15 years.

Instead, the lawmaker said, they had to reintroduce themselves to Feinstein multiple times during an interaction that lasted several hours.

Rather than delve into policy, Feinstein, 88, repeated the same small-talk questions, like asking the lawmaker what mattered to voters in their district, they said, with no apparent recognition the two had already had a similar conversation.

The episode was so unnerving that the lawmaker — who spoke to The Chronicle on condition they not be identified because of the sensitivity of the topic — began raising concerns with colleagues to see if some kind of intervention to persuade Feinstein to retire was possible. Feinstein’s term runs through the end of 2024. The conversation occurred several weeks before the death of her husband in February.

“I have worked with her for a long time and long enough to know what she was like just a few years ago: always in command, always in charge, on top of the details, basically couldn’t resist a conversation where she was driving some bill or some idea. All of that is gone,” the lawmaker said. “She was an intellectual and political force not that long ago, and that’s why my encounter with her was so jarring. Because there was just no trace of that.”

Feinstein declined an interview with The Chronicle.

“The last year has been extremely painful and distracting for me, flying back and forth to visit my dying husband who passed just a few weeks ago,” Feinstein told The Chronicle. “But there’s no question I’m still serving and delivering for the people of California, and I’ll put my record up against anyone’s.”

Dianne Feinstein in February announced her husband of more than 40 years, Richard Blum, died of lung cancer at the age of 86.

What great timing!
Elon Musk was scheduled to give a TED talk today, which happens to be the same day Elon announced his intentions of buying far-left social media giant Twitter. The interview turned quickly to Elon’s $43 billion offer to buy Twitter.

Elon Musk described his intentions in purchasing Twitter.

Elon Musk: It’s important for the function of democracy. It’s important for the function of the United States as a free country among many other countries. And to help, actually to help freedom in the world more importantly than the US. And so, I think it’s, the situational risk is decreased if Twitter the more we can increase the trust of Twitter as a public platform. And so I do think this is going to be something somewhat painful. I’m not sure that I will actually be able to acquire it. The intent is to retain as many shareholders as is allowed by the law… This is not a way to make money. I think this is, my strong intuitive sense is to have a public platform that is maximally trusted and broadly inclusive is extremely important for the future of civilization.

Harris County, Texas – Two of Judge Lina Hidalgo’s staffers were indicted this week after prosecutors expanded the investigation into an $11 million ‘vaccine outreach contract’ awarded to one of the judge’s political cronies.

Texas Rangers last month raided the office of Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and executed a search warrant related to an $11 million ‘vaccine outreach contract’ awarded to one of the judge’s friends. Recall, radical far-left judge Lina Hidalgo was one of the most aggressive Covid tyrants in Texas during the pandemic. While she was threatening to jail and fine people for violating her Covid rules, she was secretly trying to award one of her political cronies an $11 million ‘vaccine outreach’ contract.

Hidalgo panicked and canceled the $11 million vaccine contract after questions were raised that it was with a one-person firm with no experience.

Two of Hidalgo’s staffers were indicted this week after Texas Rangers obtained a new search warrant and requested the Google accounts of Lina Hidalgo and 6 of her senior staffers. Hidalgo lashed out at county prosecutors during an interview with ABC 13, calling the charges ‘partisan politics.’

“At best, this is going forward with a fundamental misunderstanding of the facts and at worst, it is the weaponization of the criminal justice system for political purposes so I’m not going to play into that,” Hidalgo whined to ABC13 on Wednesday. “My staffers are hardworking people. They work day and night for the people of Harris County and we’ve got work to do, like this catalytic converter issue or like childhood education, homelessness, huge wins.”

ABC 13 reported:

In her first on-camera comments about the indictment of two current and one former staffer, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo attacked county prosecutors for weaponizing the system with a “flimsy” case.

Alex Triantaphyllis, who is Hidalgo’s current chief of staff but was her deputy chief of staff at the time the allegations took place; Aaron Dunn, then a senior advisor for public safety and emergency management at the county; and Wallis Nader, who is Hidalgo’s deputy policy director, were indicted Monday. Each one of them was indicted on one count of misuse of official information and one count of tampering with a government record.

Investigators allege Triantaphyllis, Dunn and Nader steered a nearly $11 million COVID-19 vaccine outreach contract to a small Houston-based firm and shared proposal documents with the company before they were made public.

Search warrants include text messages and emails between Triantaphyllis, Dunn and Nader about the contract before it was awarded, but Hidalgo’s legal team has said the snippets of messages in the warrants doesn’t offer the full picture.

“The facts just don’t add up as they’re being presented,” Hidalgo said during her interview. “It’s the middle of an election year and I think it’s very clear that the motivations around this are just to harm me politically and it’s very sad to see the criminal justice system used that way.”

When ABC 13 reporter Steve Campion asked Hidalgo, who still hasn’t been charged, if she’s afraid she will be indicted, she said, “No. I mean, look, I don’t know how far this is going to go and it’s very easy when you present one-sided facts to the grand jury. Everybody knows a grand jury can indict a ham sandwich if that’s all they see.”

Democratic mega-donor Ed Buck was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for his role in the overdose deaths of two men at his apartment in West Hollywood, California. Last year, Buck was found guilty of plying men with drugs during sexual encounters, which led to the overdose deaths of two black men – Gemelle Moore and Timothy Dean.

Buck, 67, lured vulnerable black men – many suffering from homelessness, addiction, and/or poverty – to his home for sex sessions and to inject them with methamphetamine and drug them with sedatives such as gamma hydroxybutyric acid and clonazepam, federal prosecutors wrote in a sentencing memorandum. Buck reportedly used social media sites, dating websites, escort services, and referrals from prior victims to find new men. Buck allegedly would even pay a finder’s fee for referrals.

“Prosecutors allege that Buck caused the deaths as a result of his ‘fetish’ for injecting men with increasing doses of methamphetamine until they became comatose,” KABC-TV reported.

The Los Angeles Times reported, “For nearly a decade, the wealthy, white Buck lured young black men at the lowest points in their lives — homeless, addicted, resorting to subsistence-level sex work — into what he called ‘party and play’ sessions.”

“Buck used his money and privilege to exploit the wealth and power imbalances between himself and his victims, who were unhoused, destitute, and/or struggling with addiction,” assistant U.S. attorney Chelsea Norell stated in a court filing. “He spent thousands of dollars on drugs and party and play sessions that destroyed lives and bred insidious addictions.”

“Buck’s lack of remorse is aptly captured in one image: As he was hiding out in a hotel, evading arrest for Gemmel Moore’s death, he was injecting Dane Brown, another young black man, with back-to-back slams of methamphetamine,” Norell added. “Brown sat on the couch, resigned to the same fate as Moore and Dean, when he heard his deceased mother cry out to him, ‘Get up, Dane.'”

Gemelle Moore, 26, was found naked on a mattress in the living room with a “male pornography movie playing on the television” on June 27, 2017, according to the coroner’s report. Investigators also discovered sex toys, syringes, and “clear plastic bags with suspected methamphetamine in a tool box roll-cabinet in the living room,” the report stated.

Moore’s mother – LaTisha Nixon – wrote a letter to the court calling for Buck to receive the maximum sentence.

“All I can think about is how my son died naked on a mattress with no love around him,” Nixon said. “No one to hold his hand or tell him good things.”

On Jan. 7, 2019, another black man was found dead at Buck’s home. Timothy Dean, 55, died of a methamphetamine overdose.

“In text conversations with multiple friends in which they discussed Moore’s death, Dean described him as a ‘horrible, horrible man,’ ‘the f***ing devil,’ and mused ‘this might be it for Ed Buck,'” the Daily Mail reported.

“A search of the Internet Adult Film Database shows that Dean worked as a gay porn actor for about a decade between 2007 and 2016, appearing in 26 productions under the pseudonym ‘Hole Hunter,'” according to Pink News.

Buck was a big-dollar donor to the Democratic Party.

The New York Times reported, “Mr. Buck was a longtime activist who had donated at least $116,000 over his lifetime to Democratic candidates and groups.”

An overwhelming majority of Americans say they are less likely to do business with Disney after learning that the company is “creating content to expose young children to sexual ideas.”

The Trafalgar Group released a nationwide issues survey that it conducted in conjunction with the conservative advocacy group Convention of States Action. The survey questioned 1,079 likely general election voters between April 5–8, and asked them for their opinions about the Walt Disney Company’s publicized embrace of LGBT activism following a Florida law that prohibits school officials from teaching curriculum on sexual orientation on gender identity to children in kindergarten through the third grade, including teaching them that they can identify as any gender they choose.

After informing respondents that “News reports reveal Disney is focusing on creating content to expose young children to sexual ideas,” the survey asked, “Does this make you more or less likely to do business with Disney?” A majority of those surveyed (57.2%) indicated that Disney’s embrace of LGBT activism made them “much less likely” to do business with the company, while an additional 11% told pollsters they were “less likely” to do so.

Only 6.1% said they were “much more likely” to do business with Disney, while 3.3% reported that they were “somewhat more likely” to do so. The remainder of respondents (22.5%) maintained that Disney’s efforts to introduce LGBT ideology to young children would make “no difference” in their desire to do business with the company.

Broken down by party ideology, Republicans were more likely than Democrats to express a desire to cut ties with Disney over its LGBT activism. More than three-quarters (76%) of Republicans surveyed reported that they were “much less likely” to do business with the company and an additional 9.3% simply described themselves as “less likely.”

Less than 1% (0.9%) of Republicans identified themselves as “somewhat more likely” to conduct business with Disney, while 3.5% predicted that they were “much more likely” to conduct a business relationship with Disney going forward, and 10.3% insisted that the company’s LGBT advocacy made “no difference” in their support for the corporation.

Similarly, 63.4% of those who selected “no party/other” when asked about their partisan affiliation contended that they were “much less likely” to do business with Disney, while 9.1% maintained that they were “less likely” to do so. The share of independent voters who are much more likely to do business with Disney because of its LGBT activism was measured at 6.9%, with the percentage of independent voters “somewhat more likely” to do business with Disney measured at 2.2%.

Slightly more than one-sixth of unaffiliated voters (18.3%) stated that Disney’s creation of “content to expose young children to sexual ideas” would make “no difference” in whether or not they would conduct business with the company going forward.

While Democrats were much less likely than Republicans and Independents to express a desire to boycott Disney over its LGBT activism, a plurality of Democrats surveyed (48.2%) classified themselves as “less likely” to do business with the family entertainment company, with 34.2% “much less likely” to do so and 14% “less likely” to conduct business with Disney. Only 8% asserted that Disney’s LGBT activism made them “much more likely” to conduct business with the company, while 6.4% were “somewhat more likely” to do so.

More than one-third of Democrats (37.4%) said Disney’s LGBT activism made “no difference” in whether or not they would do business with the company. The survey also inquired about respondents’ likelihood to support “family-friendly alternatives to Disney.”

A plurality of likely voters (45.1%) said they were “very likely” to support alternatives to Disney, while 24% maintained that they were “somewhat likely” to do so. An additional 11.5% suggested that they were “somewhat unlikely” to embrace alternative family entertainment companies, while 19.3% classified themselves as “very unlikely” to do so.

An outright majority (53.9%) of Republicans were “very likely” to embrace family-friendly alternatives to Disney and an additional 23.7% saw themselves as “somewhat likely” to support alternatives to Disney. Only 7.3% of Republicans were “somewhat unlikely” to support alternatives to Disney, while 15.1% identified themselves as “very unlikely” to take their business elsewhere.

A plurality of respondents who selected “no party/other” as their partisan affiliation (49.3%) predicted that they were “very likely” to do business with alternatives to Disney, followed by 22.8% who saw themselves as “somewhat likely” to embrace alternatives to Disney, 17.4% who saw such a scenario as “very unlikely” to, and 10.6% who viewed the possibility of championing alternatives to Disney as “somewhat unlikely.”

Approximately one-third of Democrats (33.2%) told pollsters they were “very likely” to support family-friendly alternatives to Disney, followed by 25.4% of Democrats who seemed “somewhat likely” to do business with family-friendly alternatives to Disney, 25% who were “very unlikely” to do so, and 16.4% who reported the abandonment of Disney in favor of family-friendly alternatives as “somewhat unlikely.”

The release of the Trafalgar poll comes as Disney continues to face backlash over its response to a recently passed parental rights bill in Florida that prevents school officials from teaching students in kindergarten through third grade about matters related to sexual orientation and gender identity. While Disney is based in California, it operates the popular Walt Disney World theme park in Orlando, Florida.

In what Christopher Rufo of City Journal and the Manhattan Institute characterized as an “all-hands meeting” about the legislation derided by critics as the “Don’t Say Gay Bill,” Disney officials lauded their efforts to incorporate LGBT ideology into programming geared toward young children. Specifically, one executive producer at Disney touted that she was “basically adding queerness” to children’s programming “wherever I could” because “no one would stop me” and “no one was trying to stop me.”

As the comments made during the video obtained by Rufo suggest, Disney had worked to incorporate LGBT characters into children’s programming even before the outcry over Florida’s parental rights bill. The entertainment company’s Pixar Animation Studios released the children’s animated film “Onward” in March 2020, which features a lesbian heroine. Three years earlier, a live-action remake of the classic “Beauty and the Beast” featured a “gay moment.”

In Historic First, 5'5", 130-lb Woman Confirmed to Supreme Court

Source: AP Photo/Andrew Harnik

Weird that the media didn’t cite Ketanji Brown Jackson’s height and weight as her most important characteristics. When it came to THE FIRST BLACK WOMAN ON THE SUPREME COURT, it was all about her race. But after a guy shot up a New York City subway car this week, the last thing the media wanted to tell us was his race. For more than three hours after the attack, we got urgent alerts: Suspect at large! Police request public’s help! Be on the alert for a male, about 5’8″, 160 lbs.”

In this particular case, the media’s rule of never telling us the suspect’s race (unless he’s white) was more deranged than usual. This wasn’t a carjacking. It wasn’t a shooting at a block party. It wasn’t an attack on an Asian or Jew. This crime had all the earmarks of a terror attack — smoke bombs, fireworks, a gas mask, and about a dozen people shot while trapped in a subway car. The police desperately needed the public’s help, but most people were looking for a Middle Easterner.

At least we knew it wasn’t a white guy! If it had been, reporters would have worn out the “W” on their computer keyboards. There would have been rampant speculation that it was a Proud Boy, as top administration officials reminded us that “white supremacy is the most lethal threat to the homeland today. Not ISIS, not al-Qaida — white supremacists.” (President Joe Biden June 2, 2021)

We’re always told “wokeness” is just about being polite and that those who ridicule it are trying to “discredit the claims of traditionally marginalized groups for respect.” (Thomas Zimmer, history professor, Georgetown University) Or they are engaging in “white backlash.” (Seth Cotlar, history professor, Willamette University)

[SIDEBAR: Don’t go to college, kids!]

No, wokeness is real. And it can get us killed — when, for example, off the top of my head, a murderous psychopath is on the run and the media refuse to tell us what he looks like.

At the New York Police Department’s first press conference on the subway attack, Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell came up with an all-new circumlocution to convey the relevant information without saying “black male.” She said: “… we will describe him as an individual, he is being reported as a male black.”

“A male black”! That’s so much better than “black male” when identifying a criminal.

By the time of the evening press conference, Sewell had settled on an even dumber description, calling him “a dark-skinned male.” Great, so now we’re back to looking for a Middle Easterner. Or possibly Hispanic. Maybe South Asian or mixed race. Definitely NOT “black male” (or “male black”).

The NYPD must have spent all day crafting that new euphemism, because “dark-skinned male” was the exact phrase used minutes later by the chief of detectives, James Essig. “Black” is OUT. “Dark-skinned” is IN.

Biden Appoints First Dark-Skinned Woman (whatever the hell that is) to Supreme Court!

No, “black” is fine, provided we’re talking about THE FIRST BLACK FEMALE SUPREME COURT JUSTICE, or THE FIRST BLACK FEMALE POLICE COMMISSIONER. Such as … Commissioner Sewell herself!

— “One of Mr. Adams’ first appointments was to name Keechant Sewell, chief of detectives in Nassau County, as the first Black woman to head the NYPD.” (The Christian Science Monitor)

— “New York’s incoming mayor just made history by appointing a Black woman to run the nation’s largest police department …” (New York Daily News)

— “This is truly historic. We heard that word a lot, but it’s 176 years of the NYPD. You’re the first woman, the first black woman to lead the force.” (CNN’s Jim Sciutto to Sewell)

A black person becoming a Supreme Court justice or police commissioner makes black people feel good about themselves! But a black man being identified as the perpetrator of a heinous crime makes black people feel bad about themselves. Therefore, you can’t say it.

As is well known, the sine qua non of a well-run society is factoring in people’s feelings when reporting important events. And if New York City is not running like a top, then I don’t know what your definition of “running like a top” is.

Instead of subway cameras capturing clear photos of the homicidal brute and being broadcast out within minutes of the attack, hours later, the police were climbing up ladders to physically inspect the cameras. They weren’t working.

New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority operates the cameras, but they’ve been VERY busy promoting diversity. Evidently, “Is our equipment working?” has not come up.

Julio Rosas

Here’s the MTA’s summary of the last meeting:

3rd Quarter 2021 Report:

“The Department of Diversity and Civil Rights will present 3rd quarter 2021 update on MTA Agency-wide EEO and M/W/DBE and SDVOB contract compliance activities.

“Status Report on MTA Inter-Agency M/W/DBE and SDVOB Task Force. The Department of Diversity and Civil Rights report will address progress made by the Task Force to improve M/W/DBE and SDVOB participation. Master Page # 6 of 108 — Diversity Committee Meeting 9/15/2021

“2022 Diversity Committee Work Plan. The Department of Diversity and Civil Rights will present an updated Diversity Committee Work Plan for 2022.”

Another confidence-inspiring development: The New York Times reports that immediately after the shooting, “Toward the front of the train, three victims were being attended to by bystanders. A uniformed police officer approached, asking passengers to call 911 because his radio was not working.” (Emphasis added.)

The officer’s radio didn’t work. But on the plus side, he’s been through six diversity training sessions.

To top things off, at the evening press conference, the top brass COULDN’T GET ZOOM TO WORK. Mayor Eric Adams was introduced, whereupon every TV in the land broadcast total silence for a solid 60 seconds, while city officials stood around waiting for the mayor to appear. They finally gave up and patched him in later.

At least the mayor is on top of things. Hours after even MSNBC had admitted the perp was a black male, Adams was on TV, vowing to catch the man — “or woman!” — who perpetrated this attack.

Gosh, that makes me feel validated.

The Kentucky state legislature has overridden Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear’s veto of a bill to block biological males from competing in girls’ or women’s athletics from sixth grade through college. Beshear had previously issued a veto message in which he pointed to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s policies regarding transgender participation, which indicate that students must compete based on the gender indicated on their birth certificate unless their gender has been legally reassigned.

“Again, the KHSAA policy requires that a student-athlete who has undergone sex reassignment after puberty must take hormonal therapy in a verifiable manner and for a sufficient length of time to minimize gender-related advantages in competition, and if the student-athlete stops taking hormonal therapy they must participate in the sport consistent with their birth gender,” Beshear said in the veto message.

“Senate Bill 83 most likely violates the equal protection rights afforded by the United States Constitution because it discriminates against transgender children seeking to participate in girls’ or women’s sports. Moreover, Senate Bill 83 bans transgender children from participating in girls’ or women’s sports without presenting a single instance in Kentucky of a child gaining a competitive advantage as a result of sex reassignment,” Beshear’s message said.

The governor entered office in late 2019 and will seek re-election during Kentucky’s 2023 gubernatorial election

The state legislature’s veto override comes amid an ongoing national debate over issues pertaining to the radical gender ideology that leftists have been striving to promulgate throughout society. Many Americans believe that children should not be exposed to leftist gender ideology, and that biological males should not be allowed to compete in girls’ sports or utilize facilities designated for women.

Alabama has recently approved pieces of legislation that push back against the radical movement. Once it takes effect, one measure will make it a felony to prescribe or administer puberty blockers or gender reassignment hormones to individuals younger than 19. It also makes it a felony to perform gender reassignment surgery on individuals in that age range.

“I believe very strongly that if the Good Lord made you a boy, you are a boy, and if he made you a girl, you are a girl,” Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, a Republican, noted in a statement last week. “We should especially protect our children from these radical, life-altering drugs and surgeries when they are at such a vulnerable stage in life. Instead, let us all focus on helping them to properly develop into the adults God intended them to be.”

A pair of neighborhood dads in Los Angeles, California, have taken matters into their own hands to fight soaring crime in recent months. But now, they say they’re “tired of it” and have decided to pack their bags with their families and ditch the area. The two neighbors, identified only as Michael and Josh in recent report by local news outlet KTTV-TV, have retrieved a stolen car, fought off robbers, and tracked thieves with AirTags, all within the span of 18 months. Yet still, brazen criminals continue to stalk and harass their Playa Del Rey condo complex time and again.

“The number of instances that have happened in the year and a half that I’ve lived here has been in the half-dozen range, and I’m tired of it,” Michael told the outlet in an interview. “I’m tired of losing our property.”

The latest robbery served as the straw that broke the camel’s back for Michael, who said he plans to move to Texas. Thieves reportedly broke into a locked parking garage and stole his elderly neighbor’s car. Only 12 hours later, another neighbor spotted it about a mile down the road at a homeless RV camp. So, Michael and his neighbor Josh grabbed a spare key and hopped in a car and drove down Jefferson Avenue to retrieve the stolen vehicle. They soon spotted it, and once they figured out how to drive the Toyota Prius, they were off.

“It was nice to get the car back for the owner,” Josh said, smiling. “Win one for the good guys.”

Fed up with LA crime, neighbors take action into their own handswww.youtube.com

But prior to their heroic and blissful win, the neighbors had taken several losses. KTTV reported that thieves had made off with several padlocked bikes stored in the same parking garage.

One time, Michael encountered a thief and decided to confront him. Surveillance video shows the dad tackling the criminal to the ground and ripping the bike from his hands — but even that didn’t stop him. The thief was back a couple days later to steal more property. Josh opted to start tracking the whereabouts of his e-bikes with Apple AirTags, small coin-sized devices that can attach to items and signal their location to a connected Apple phone or computer. Three were taken: one to Marina Del Rey and two others to the homeless RV camp.

“I tracked it to that encampment, called the cops, they came and helped me retrieve it,” Josh said. “It was being disassembled as [we] walked up at a bike chop shop.”

Per Los Angeles rules, authorities stopped towing illegally parked RVs during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing encampments to rapidly clutter neighborhoods. The moratorium was finally lifted last week following a city council vote. But much damage had already been done. Members of the community claim the encampments quickly became epicenters for crime and debauchery.

“They’re ruining the environment,” said one Playa del Rey resident, Lucy Han, during the council meeting. “They’re defecating, they’re urinating in the area. … There’s human sex trafficking. We’ve had four shootings.”

KTTV said the Jefferson Avenue encampment is even home to a meth lab.

The pervasive crime has reportedly caused “good guys” like Michael and Josh to “hit the road for good,” the outlet noted.

Michael said: “We’re making that move partially because what’s going on but partially because it just feels like L.A. is going backwards, not forwards.”

In reality, one of Tesla’s Supercharger stations was reported to get 13 percent of their energy from natural gas and 27 percent from coal. Power plants burn coal to generate electricity to power electric cars and emit a higher fossil fuel footprint than the left would care to admit.

While these vehicles may be falsely advertised, many who invest in these overpriced cars are able to avoid paying the currently outrageous gas prices. Still, Americans’ growing reliance on electric cars and the batteries they require will increase our dependence on countries such as China for materials.

I love the idea of electric cars until I think of all the pollution they cause. Rare earth mineral mining is a pollution nightmare. Filling the batteries with power from fossil fuel is asinine, a shell game. Disposal of toxic batteries is a disaster in the making.

And don’t get me started on the disaster of wind power. Concrete and metal skyscraper factories that litter or rural areas. Just wait till they rot, leave massive concrete foundations and pollute a once beautiful landscape.

Read more at https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2022/04/transgender-teacher-tells-kindergarteners-doctors-make-incorrect-guess-babies-gender-born-video/

A first-grade transgender teacher at Brooke Charter School in Roslindale told kindergarteners that doctors guessed babies’ gender when they were born and claimed, “sometimes the doctor is wrong” and “makes an incorrect guess” when assigning gender.

Ray Skyer, a trans teacher in Boston, Massachusetts, posted a video clip of his zoom session with a group of kindergarteners regarding “identity share” last year.

“So, when babies are born, the doctor looks at them, and they make a guess about whether the baby is a boy or girl based on what they look like. And most of the time, that guess is 100% correct. There are no issues whatsoever,” Skyer claimed.

“But sometimes the doctor is wrong. The doctor makes an incorrect guess. When a doctor makes a correct guess, that’s when a person is called cisgender. When a doctor’s guess is wrong, that’s when they are transgender,” Skyer argued.

“I’m a man, but when I was a baby, the doctors told my parents I was a girl. And so my parents gave me a name that girls typically have and bought me clothes that girls typically wear, and until I was 18 years old, everyone thought I was a girl. And this was super, super uncomfortable for me because I knew that wasn’t right.”

More from Blaze News:

The text accompanying Skyer’s longer Facebook video of the Zoom call is titled “BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN??” It reads as follows:

Whenever there are bills introduced targeting trans youth, we always hear the argument that these laws are “protecting” their peers and “preventing confusion.” At this point, I’ve had many conversations with many young children (I’m a 1st grade teacher) about what being transgender is and never once have I been met with any fear or confusion. I’ve even been the recipient of a group hug! Children just get it, it’s as simple as that.

This is a video from an Identity Share I did yesterday over Zoom with many of our kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students. When I opened up my classroom’s Zoom room immediately after, here are some things my students said:

“Great job, Mr. Skyer!”
“I think my family is a lot like yours!”
“How did you grow a beard?” (My answer was just that I grew up!)
“Where are you in those pictures?”
“Your brother is taller than you AND has a bigger beard!” (Thanks, friend.)
“Who is the homework leader for today??”

Learning about and embracing differences is something that comes naturally and is exciting to children. Let’s follow their lead.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed a bill allocating $70 million toward initiatives that support and encourage fathers to take an active role in their children’s lives. Former NFL football player Jack Brewer described the law as “the order of God.”

DeSantis held a press conference in Tampa, Florida, on Monday, where he signed House Bill 7065. The legislation, which passed with unanimous support among lawmakers in both the Florida House and Senate, will provide $70 million in state funding to support initiatives designed to encourage responsible fatherhood.

“If you look over the last many decades, one of the worst social trends has been the decline of fatherhood and we do have, in many instances, a fatherhood crisis in this country,” said DeSantis as he began the press conference.

As the governor held the hands of his two daughters, he highlighted the importance of fathers playing an active role in their children’s lives and warned of the harms that can result when they don’t.

“If you look at the statistics, 90% of homeless and runaway children did not have a father in their home,” he said. “Seventy percent of high school dropouts did not have a father in their home, and 60% of youth who commit suicide did not have a father in their home.”

The bill authorizes the creation of a Responsible Fatherhood Initiative, which “must provide an opportunity for every father in the state to be able to obtain information and inspiration that will motivate and enable him to enhance his abilities as a father, recognizing that some fathers have greater challenges than others and would benefit from greater support.”

Fathers in the state will have access to a website and other electronic resources where they can find parenting information and support resources. Resources will also come from the National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse.

The law also enables the state government to “award grants to not-for-profit community-based organizations to address the needs of fathers” by “assisting them in finding employment, managing child support obligations, transitioning from a period of incarceration, accessing healthcare, understanding child development, and enhancing parenting skills.”

Other grants authorized by the law will go toward mentorship programs for at-risk male students in middle and high school. Students would be given access to programs to provide training for future employment.

The Jack Brewer Foundation’s American Heroes Initiative, which partners professional athletes and local leaders with fatherlessness youth across the U.S. to “bridge the cultural gaps that are escalating [due] to the absence of spirituality and positive male influence” was highlighted at DeSantis’ press conference. Part of the program’s curriculum teaches boys financial literacy.

Brewer attended the press conference alongside youth participating in the American Heroes Initiative, who wore shirts emblazoned with the organization’s logo. In remarks at the press conference, Brewer warned that mental health issues are on the rise “because we have fatherless children who are getting indoctrinated in our public schools.”

“We talk about [critical race theory] and all these other things. Those are not our issues. Our issues are we are indoctrinating kids that don’t have a sound household,” he stressed.

While he expressed gratitude that “this bill is changing all that,” Brewer suggested that “this is a spiritual battle and they cannot be fought with flesh and blood.” Brewer declared: “You need a father, you need the order of God and that is what this bill does.”

“This bill is just not about someone giving you some money, it’s about calling all you dads out there and you moms to coach your husbands, your boyfriends, your sons, your fathers. Hold them accountable because they need to be reaching out to some other kids.”

Brewer lamented that “we’ve got 18.6 million fatherless kids in this country,” between 600,000 and 700,000 of whom live in Florida. “We can’t fix this problem with just this bill. We need to work with our hands like Jesus told us to do: serving the sick, touching the broken-hearted and visiting those in prison. We must all be held accountable and it starts today behind the leadership of this governor that I love in Jesus’ name.”

At the press conference, DeSantis pointed to New York Times columnist David Brooks’ piece in The Atlantic that asserts the nuclear family was a mistake.DeSantis vowed that “in Florida, we are not going to be following this propaganda.” … “We’re going to put programs in place that support fathers and help families stay connected and engaged with each other.”

DeSantis summarized the contents of the bill, which include the creation of a “statewide awareness campaign to call attention to the importance of responsible fatherhood and to equip fathers with resources to stay engaged in their children’s lives” as well as “grant opportunities for nonprofit organizations” that use “evidence-based parenting education to help fathers stay engaged and to connect with their children.”

“The bill also will support case managers who will help fathers find employment, transition from incarceration and to better manage their obligations,” the governor added. “The bill also supports and creates mentorship programs at the Department of Juvenile Justice for at-risk youth.”

The governor signed the bill with one of his daughters on his lap and the other by his side before opening up the floor to other speakers, including NFL coach Tony Dungy, who heads an organization called All Pro Dads, and Brewer.

Gov. Stitt signs law banning most abortions, seeks to make Oklahoma ‘most pro-life state’

By Ryan Foley, Christian Post Reporter | Tuesday, April 12, 2022

Read more at https://www.christianpost.com/news/gov-stitt-abortion-law-will-make-oklahoma-most-pro-life-state.html/

The governor of Oklahoma has signed a bill into law banning nearly all abortions in the state except when a mother’s life is at risk in a medical emergency. Those who violate the law could face up to $100,000 in fines and 10 years in prison. Oklahoma’s Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt signed Senate Bill 612 into law Tuesday, saying he aims to make the Sooner State “the most pro-life state in the country.”

Women who seek or obtain an illegal abortion wouldn’t need to fear prosecution, as the law doesn’t “authorize the charging or conviction of a woman with any criminal offense in the death of her unborn child.” It does not ban the use or sale of prescription contraceptives so long as the products are sold before a woman becomes pregnant.

The bill passed the state’s House of Representatives in a 70-14 vote last week, more than a year after it passed the state Senate in a 38-49 vote. In both chambers, one Republican joined Democrats in opposing the measure.

Stitt signed Senate Bill 612 into law Tuesday, as he was surrounded by pro-life activists, religious leaders and the bill’s sponsors in the state Legislature. The governor and those gathered around him were wearing red roses in honor of the Pro-Life Rose Day at the Capitol, an occasion sponsored by the pro-life group Oklahomans for Life, the Baptist General Convention, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, and other churches and pregnancy resource centers.

“As governor, I represent all 4 million Oklahomans,” Stitt said at the signing ceremony. “They overwhelmingly support protecting life in the state of Oklahoma. We want Oklahoma to be the most pro-life state in the country. We want to outlaw abortion in the state of Oklahoma.”

While he predicted that “this bill will be challenged immediately by liberal activists from the coasts who always seem to want to come in and dictate and mandate and challenge our way of life,” Stitt signed the bill, nonetheless. Sharing his belief that “every life is precious,” Stitt declared that “the most important thing is to take a stand for the unborn and protect life.”

In a statement released Tuesday, Marjorie Dannenfelser of the pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List, praised Oklahoma for enacting “some of the nation’s strongest protections for unborn children and their mothers, which could save as many as 3,800 lives a year.”

The ACLU of Oklahoma had a different take on the bill, with Executive Director Tanya Cox-Toure declaring that “the only person who should have the power to decide whether you need an abortion is you — no matter where you live, or how much money you make.” She cited the enactment of the law as “a reminder of the immediate threat to our community’s health and reproductive freedom” that serves as a “placeholder to a rapidly approaching future without access to safe and legal abortion.”

“What politicians have done today is create a state where anybody who can become pregnant is forced to carry out a pregnancy against their will. We must continue to fight in the courts, in our state legislatures, in the streets, and at the ballot box to guarantee all people have access to the health care they need.”

The Oklahoma law represents a drastic contrast to a law recently approved by the governor in the neighboring state of Colorado. Last week, the state’s Democratic Gov. Jared Polis signed into law a measure declaring that “a fertilized egg, embryo, or fetus does not have independent or derivative rights under the laws of this state.”

“A pregnant individual has a fundamental right to continue a pregnancy and give birth or to have an abortion and to make decisions about how to exercise that right,” the legislation added. “A public entity shall not … deprive, through prosecution, punishment, or other means, an individual of the individual’s right to act or refrain from acting during the individual’s own pregnancy based on the potential, actual, or perceived impact on the pregnancy, the pregnancy’s outcomes, or on the pregnant individual’s health.”

Pro-life laws passed by states like Oklahoma and the abortion laws passed by states like Colorado come as the United States Supreme Court is expected to rule on the constitutionality of Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban. A ruling in favor of the state of Mississippi, which is asking the justices to uphold the ban, would weaken the precedent set by Roe v. Wade, the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion nationwide.

Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona called Tuesday for raising U.S. oil production to offset the loss of imported Russian oil, according to the Associated Press.

“The reasonable way to address what is going to be an oil shortage in America is for us to responsibly increase our own domestic oil production,” the senator remarked during a luncheon for the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, according to the outlet.

Americans have been getting slammed by high gas prices — as of Tuesday, the AAA national average for a gallon of regular gas was $4.098.

Last month, President Joe Biden issued an executive order banning the import of crude oil and other products from Russia, a country that has been waging a devastating invasion in Ukraine.

“We can help our European allies do the same, but it is incumbent on us to help fill that gap,” Sinema said, according to the AP.

High fuel costs directly hurt American drivers each time they fill up their vehicle, but the financial pain does not necessarily stop there since high gas prices can also drive up the costs associated with transportation and lead to higher prices across the board.

On March 31, President Biden announced plans to release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve at the rate of one million barrels each day over the span of six months.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released new consumer price index data on Tuesday which showed that rising prices are continuing to hammer Americans hard. “The gasoline index rose sharply in March, increasing 18.3 percent after rising 6.6 percent in February. (Before seasonal adjustment, gasoline prices rose 19.8 percent in March.),” the BLS noted.

Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin issued a statement about the nation’s rapidly rising inflation.

“Here is the truth, we cannot spend our way to a balanced, healthy economy and continue adding to our $30 trillion national debt. Getting inflation under control will require more aggressive action by a Federal Reserve that waited too long to act. It demands the Administration and Congress, Democrats and Republicans alike, support an all-the-above energy policy because that is the only way to bring down the high price of gas and energy while attacking climate change,” Manchin said in the statement.

“Real Time” host Bill Maher predicted to podcaster Joe Rogan this week that the Democratic Party is “going to get their ass kicked” during midterm elections in November because they have all but abandoned “common sense.”

“I’m always saying to the Democrats, just don’t be the party of no common sense and you will be surprised at what amazing success you will have, as opposed to what’s going to happen, which is they’re going to get their ass kicked in November,” Maher explained during an appearance on Tuesday’s episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience.”

The liberal talk show host has gained some notoriety among conservatives in recent years due to his penchant for calling out increasingly radical left-wing ideas. But on Tuesday, Maher asserted that he’s not the one who has changed; rather, progressive in the country are the ones who have drifted away from broadly accepted norms.

“The left has gotten goofier. So, I seem more conservative, maybe,” he argued. “But like, it’s not me who changed. I feel I’m the same guy.”

“Five years ago, we hadn’t spent $6 trillion to stay home. I mean, I understand we had to do something with the pandemic,” he continued. “Five years ago, no one was talking about abolishing the police. There was no talk about pregnant men. I mean, looting was still illegal. So, like, have I changed? No, because if someone had said 20 years ago ‘I’m not sure looting is a bad thing,’ I would’ve opposed it then. So, I haven’t changed.”

Bill Maher on the Hunger for Common Senseyoutu.be

Later, when discussing why both he and Rogan have experienced a growth in their followings, Maher said, “I think it’s because we are both seen as people who are commonsensical.”

“And that is what there is a hunger for, I think, in America, more than anything, is common sense. Away from the extremes,” he added.

Elsewhere in episode, the two commentators discussed Big Tech censorship of the coronavirus lab-leak theory as an example of how everything in America has become politicized and categorized into one of two “extremes.”

“It wasn’t cool that [Twitter] didn’t allow the lab-leak theory to be talked about,” Maher said. “For months, you couldn’t even mention it. And that is certainly something that was open to question.”

“I mean, it was like, to me, the very kind of issue that if Twitter was really doing the job it should would be a healthy forum for people to go back and forth and say, ‘Well, here’s why I think COVID probably came from bats because A, B and C’ and then, ‘Well, but you know, there was this lab in Wuhan that was studying coronaviruses and somebody could have walked out with it on their shoe,'” he continued. “‘Can’t we even look into that?'”

“For Twitter to take that off, that to me was a huge red flag,” he added.

Rogan responded by saying, “It was crazy because it wasn’t resolved. It just wasn’t resolved. It wasn’t resolved amongst virologists, there was no way they could know.”

“Even the Biden administration admits that,” Maher cut in. “[Robert] Redfield, the former head of the CDC, firmly believes that it was in a lab, but again, that becomes the conservative view. For what f***ing reason, why — I can’t even follow the logic of why we pick, ‘OK, if you think it came from the wet markets, you’re a Democrat. And if you think it came out of the lab, you’re a Republican.’ It’s like what the f*** does it have to do with a Republican or Democrat?”

Read more at https://www.christianpost.com/voices/jesus-christ-created-3-resurrection-portals.html/

As Christians prepare to celebrate Easter, are you aware that Jesus Christ created three resurrection portals? The first portal is rooted in history; the second is rooted inside man’s soul; and the third is rooted in Heaven. A portal is “a doorway, gate, or other entrance.”

The first resurrection portal is the opening to the tomb Jesus exited after rising from the dead (Matthew 28:5-7). J.C. Ryle said, “The resurrection is a fact better attested than any event recorded in any history, whether ancient or modern.”

Charles Colson said, “I know the resurrection is a fact, and Watergate proved it to me. How? Because 12 men testified they had seen Jesus raised from the dead; then they proclaimed that truth for 40 years, never once denying it. Everyone was beaten, tortured, stoned and put in prison. They would not have endured that if it weren’t true. Watergate embroiled 12 of the most powerful men in the world — and they couldn’t keep a lie for three weeks. You’re telling me 12 apostles could keep a lie for 40 years? Absolutely impossible.”

The first resurrection portal involves believing the historical fact that the crucified Savior rose from the dead. When the women “found the stone rolled away” and then walked through the portal into the empty tomb, “they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus” (Luke 24:2). Christ had risen from the dead, just as He foretold (Matthew 16:21). Do you accept this fact of history and this fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies concerning the coming Messiah? (Psalm 16:10; Psalm 22:1-31; Isaiah 53:1-12).

The first resurrection portal is an essential element of Christianity. “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost … but Christ has indeed been raised from the dead” (1 Cor. 15:17-18,20).

The second resurrection portal is inside man’s soul. When you receive Christ as your Savior through faith, (Ephesians 2:8,9) the God of the universe enters your body through a portal in your soul and takes up residence within you. The Apostle Paul informed believers: “Christ lives in me” (Galatians 2:20), and “your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit” (1 Cor. 6:19).

How does God enter the believer? Through a door; that is, a portal. Jesus said, “Be earnest and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with me” (Revelation 3:19-20).

“If Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness” (Romans 8:10). The second resurrection portal is necessary “so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith” (Ephesians 3:17). Jesus said, “Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you” (John 14:19-20).

The second resurrection portal is an essential element of Christianity. Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, unless a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God … you must be born again” (John 3:3,7). In other words, one must be saved, forgiven, justified and redeemed through faith in Jesus (Romans 3:21-26).

“In His great mercy God has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade — kept in Heaven for you,” (1 Peter 1:3-4) and for all who have received Christ through faith (John 1:12).

The third and final resurrection portal is entered when the body of the believer dies. At that point, the person’s soul is immediately ushered through “the gates of Heaven” (Genesis 28:17; Revelation 21:21). The Christian is then “absent from the body and present with the Lord” (2 Cor. 5:8). Believers will be given a resurrection body at the end of time “in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed” (1 Cor. 15:52).

Jesus told His disciples: “In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going” (John 14:1-4).

And so, you see: Jesus Christ has created three resurrection portals. The Messiah rose from the dead; Jesus is the author of our faith (Hebrews 12:2) and Christ is also the guarantor of our eternal life in Heaven.

Jesus told Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25,26).

The death of Christ on the cross paid for our sins, and the resurrection of Jesus from the grave guarantees everlasting life for all believers. Repent of your sins as you turn away from them. Trust that Christ died on the cross to save you, and then rose from the grave on the third day.

“All things have been created by Christ” (Colossians 1:16), and this includes the three resurrection portals. Will you humble yourself before the Creator of all things? Will you admit you are a sinner and unable to save your soul?

If you refuse to accept the historical fact of Christ’s resurrection (first portal), you will remain stuck in unbelief. Without faith, you cannot be forgiven and born again (second portal). And your soul will be locked out of Heaven forever (third portal) unless you “repent and believe the good news” (Mark 1:15) while you still have time to do so.

If you have not yet placed your faith in Christ for salvation, will another Easter come and go while you remain spiritually dead in the tomb of your unconverted soul? Will you believe in the risen Savior who is the resurrection and the life? (John 11:25,26) “Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you” (Ephesians 5:14).

Some 16 missing children have been recovered in an operation led by the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern District of Louisiana New Orleans Task Force which also uncovered allegations of sex trafficking in some of the cases, the agency announced. In a news release published Thursday, the agency revealed that through “Operation Fresh Start,” conducted from Jan. 1 to March 31, they made five arrests and are currently pursuing the arrest of four other adults.

“Based on the operation at least four (4) felony warrants exist for adults suspected of involvement with MCU minors and the USMS New Orleans Task Force is actively pursuing these fugitives,” the agency said.

In one of the cases, marshals recovered a 14-year-old female on March 25 from an address in Fayetteville, Georgia, living with several adults. She had run away from her family in New Orleans in January, authorities said.

“The teen had run away from New Orleans in January of 2022 and her family were concerned about her possible involvement in sex trafficking and believed that she was with an older male in Florida. USMS investigation shows the teen may have also traveled to the Jacksonville, Florida area as well before being located in Georgia,” the U.S. Marshals Service said.

A day later, on March 26, marshals also rescued another 14-year-old habitual runaway from a location in Addis, Louisiana. The teenager was described as a “previous victim of sexual assault.” She was returned to St. Tammany Parish after the rescue.

According to the release, New Orleans was one of the original U.S. cities to begin a USMS pilot program for the Missing Child Unit in 2016, and U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Scott Illing, said he was proud of the work they have done so far.

“I am very proud of the cooperative work done by all the agencies involved in safeguarding at risk children. Our Office is proud to be a part of a robust MCU program that took root in New Orleans starting in 2016,” Illing said in a statement. “This work is being done with our partners while our office still performs its critical USMS missions (judicial and witness security, managing federal prisoners, violent fugitives’ apprehension, sex offender investigations, and service of federal process).”

Several of the cases also involved custodial disputes between parents, which can sometimes turn deadly. Marshals successfully recovered a 5-year-old female and 7-year-old male who were taken by their mother, who was the non-custodial parent.

“The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office issued a felony warrant for the mother of the children for kidnapping, and she made active attempts to avoid arrest along the way,” the release said. “The non-custodial parent/mother took the children to the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida area and the USMS Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force was able to recover the children and arrest the mother on her Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant.”

On Jan. 31, marshals also recovered a 1-year-old male child abducted by his father after the father shot and killed the infant’s grandfather in New Orleans, Louisiana, the agency said. News reports show that the grandfather, the late beloved trumpeter Brian Murray, was babysitting the child at the time he was killed by Edmond Ramee Sr. Ramee is currently in custody on a second degree murder charge.

“New Orleans Police Department Violent Offenders Warrant Squad (VOWS) and USMS New Orleans Task Force immediately began to search for Edmond RAMEE Sr., and he surrendered to NOPD VOWS on the evening of 01/31/2022, with the child being safely located and recovered,” the U.S. Marshals Service said.

Not all custody disagreements end with children being recovered safely. In January, Tennessee Pastor Kenneth Cook died along with his 16-year-old step-daughter, Teagan Welch, and Teagan’s biological father, Christopher Ray Welch, 48, after a domestic-related shooting in White Pine at a Pilot gas station. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office told WVLT News that the Jan. 3 event stemmed from a custody drop-off between the pastor’s wife and Teagan’s father, who were meeting to change custody of their child.

Last month, three sisters were fatally shot by their father in another domestic dispute concerning custody. The father also killed himself and their chaperone inside the sanctuary of The Church in Sacramento during a supervised visit in California. All the individuals involved were members of the church. The Sacramento coroner’s office identified the father as David Mora Rojas, 39. His daughters were identified as Samarah Mora Gutierrez, 9; Samantha Mora Gutierrez, 10, and Samia Mora Gutierrez, 13. The late chaperone was identified as Nathaniel Kong, 59. Business records show that he was an executive of the church.

Read more at https://www.christianpost.com/news/alabama-gov-kay-ivey-signs-bill-banning-genital-mutilation-of-kids.html/

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has signed into law measures that aim to protect children in her state by banning genital mutilation as part of sex-change operations on youth who suffer from gender dysphoria and the teaching of sexual orientation to elementary school students.

Ivey, a Republican, signed the bills on Friday, one day after the Biden administration condemned the state’s laws as “discriminatory.”

Senate Bill 184, also known as the “Vulnerable Child Protection Act,” and House Bill 322 deal with controversial LGBT-related issues. The state’s Republican-controlled Legislature approved both bills mostly along party lines.

The Vulnerable Child Protection Act bans state employees as well as employees of public school districts from “prescribing, dispensing, administering, or otherwise supplying puberty blocking medication to stop or delay normal puberty,” “performing surgeries that sterilize,” “performing surgeries that artificially construct tissue with the appearance of genitalia that differs from the individual’s biological sex” and “removing any healthy or non-diseased body part or tissue.” A violation of this section of the law constitutes a Class C felony.

House Bill 322 requires “public K-12 schools to designate the use of rooms where students may be in various stages of undress upon the basis of biological sex.” Students must use bathrooms and locker rooms that correspond with their biological sex instead of their chosen gender identity.

Additionally, the measure will prohibit those teaching students in kindergarten through fifth grade from engaging in “classroom instruction regarding sexual orientation or gender identity in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”

Ivey defended her signing of the bills in a Twitter thread Saturday.

“I signed two bills into law to protect our kids in Alabama,” she said. “The first bill makes clear — boys will only use the boys’ bathroom and ladies will only use the ladies’ bathroom. That’s Alabama common sense.” She offered similar praise for the second bill: “Here in Alabama, we’re going to go by how God made us: If the Good Lord made you a boy, you’re a boy, and if he made you a girl, you’re a girl. It’s simple.”

“Enough of this woke radical nonsense that preys on our kids. We’re going to focus on protecting our kids and keeping our schools focused on being a place where students learn the fundamentals,” Ivey added. “This follows what we’ve already done to protect girls’ sports in Alabama — girls play sports with girls and boys play sports with boys. Just more Alabama common sense.”

At a press briefing Thursday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki slammed Alabama’s Republican lawmakers for passing legislation that she claimed would “target trans youth with tactics that threatens to put pediatricians in prison if they provide medically necessary, lifesaving healthcare for the kids they serve.”

Psaki also warned that “Alabama’s lawmakers and other legislators who are contemplating these discriminatory bills have been put on notice by the Department of Justice and the Department of Health and Human Services.”

“Laws and policies preventing care that healthcare professionals recommend for transgender minors may violate the Constitution and federal law,” Psaki said.

Although Psaki claimed that “every major medical association agrees that gender-affirming healthcare” for children with gender dysphoria is a “best practice and potentially lifesaving,” the American College of Pediatricians has called the effectiveness and safety of “puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries for transgender-believing youth” into question.

The American College of Pediatricians says “there is not a single long-term study to demonstrate the safety or efficacy” of such practices. The medical organization further warned that puberty blockers can cause side effects such as “osteoporosis, mood disorders, seizures, cognitive impairment and, when combined with cross-sex hormones, sterility.” It also found potential side effects of cross-sex hormones to include “an increased risk of heart attacks, stroke, diabetes, blood clots and cancers.”

While Psaki did not explicitly address House Bill 322 in her remarks last week, its passage comes as Florida continues to face backlash from the LGBT community due to the enactment of similar legislation derided by critics as the “Don’t Say Gay Bill.”

The Florida bill will ban school officials from discussing matters related to sexual orientation and gender identity with students in kindergarten through third grade. The Alabama bill will extend the prohibition on such discussions through fifth grade.

Alabama is not the only state where elected officials have expressed opposition to the push to perform life-altering surgeries on youth with gender dysphoria. Last year, the Republican-controlled Arkansas legislature passed a law banning the prescription of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to minors over the objection of the state’s Republican governor.

Six months after the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services characterized gender transition surgeries for minors as a form of child abuse, the Texas Attorney General issued an opinion assigning the label of child abuse to the procedures. Most recently, Arizona’s Republican Gov. Doug Ducey signed into law a measure that “delays any irreversible gender reassignment surgery until the age of 18” late last month.

The Walt Disney Company will soon be airing an ad on all of its channels featuring the mother of a trans-identified child lambasting supporters of bills banning genital mutilation surgeries for children and the teaching of LGBT ideology in schools. The mother accuses these Americans of trying to “tear our families apart.”

The LGBT advocacy organization GLAAD released the public service announcement called “Protect Our Families” last week. The 60-second ad profiles the Briggle family, which includes Amber Briggle along with her husband and her two children. The ad focuses on her trans-identified daughter, who now identifies as a boy and goes by the name Max.

The LGBT advocacy group says the video shows that “families with transgender kids are just like any other family: they love their kids unconditionally and simply want the best for them.”

In the video, Briggle discusses Max’s interests as she narrates a background video of her daughter in an effort to persuade those watching the ad that society should support parents who want their children to be given puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, saying a transgender child “is no different than yours.”

“There are some politicians who are trying to tear my family apart, simply because my [daughter] is transgender,” she asserts. “Trans kids don’t have a political agenda. They are just kids. They just want to be left alone.”

CNBC reports that the ad, which does not explicitly mention any legislation, in particular, will air on channels owned by The Walt Disney Company as well as channels owned by Comcast, WarnerMedia and Paramount. The Walt Disney Company has received intense criticism over its outspoken opposition to a Florida parental rights bill recently signed into law by the state’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The legislation states that “classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation and gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.” While states including Alabama, Arizona and Arkansas have passed laws banning the prescription of cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers to minors, the Florida law does not include such a provision.

After initially declining to take a position on the Florida bill, Disney, which operates the popular theme park Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, came out hard against the bill after critics derided it as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. Disney’s opposition to the law that prevents teachers from exposing young children to LGBT ideology, motivated worship artist Sean Feucht to hold a protest in front of Disney’s headquarters in Burbank, California.

Last month, Christopher Rufo of the Manhattan Institute and City Journal released video footage of Disney officials discussing their efforts to incorporate “queerness” and other LGBT ideology into programming directed at children as part of what he described as “Disney’s all-hands meeting about the Florida parental rights bill.”

Briggle, a progressive activist who is running for city council in Denton, Texas, operates a blog titled “Love to the Max.” In an August 2019 blog post, Briggle listed “3 things your child can do to help make middle school better for my trans son.” Accompanying the blog post is a photograph of Max, which identifies the child as a member of the fifth grade graduating class of 2019. This seems to indicate that Briggle’s child is now in eighth grade and is either 13 or 14 years old.

In the blog, she noted that “my sweet [daughter], Max, socially transitioned in 1st grade — changing [her] name and pronouns, but otherwise living life exactly the same (only much, much happier).” In a speech at this year’s GLAAD Media Awards, Briggle said, “We live in Texas, where Gov. [Greg] Abbott issued a directive to investigate parents like my husband, Adam and I for child abuse because we provide Max with the gender-affirming care he needs.”

Briggle added that Child Protective Services recently visited their home and questioned them. She expressed relief that “a court has barred Texas from investigating parents of trans kids.”

Supporters of legislation banning what LGBT advocates refer to as “gender-affirming care,” including the American College of Pediatricians, warn that puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones can have negative side effects. Side effects of puberty blockers identified by the American College of Pediatricians include “emotional instability” as well as “osteoporosis, mood disorders, seizures, cognitive impairment and, when combined with cross-sex hormones, sterility.”

The medical organization lists “an increased risk of heart attacks, stroke, diabetes, blood clots and cancers across their lifespan” as possible complications of cross-sex hormones.

While supporters of providing puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to youth with gender dysphoria maintain that such procedures help improve the children’s mental health, children who underwent some form of gender transition only to regret doing so later insisted that such procedures worsened their mental health.

The newsmagazine program “60 Minutes” profiled a group of “detransitioners” last year, including a male who once identified as female explaining to CBS’ Lesley Stahl that he “had never really been suicidal before until I had my breast augmentation.” He told Stahl that “about a week afterward, I wanted to actually kill myself,” adding: “I had a plan, and I was going to do it but I just kept thinking about my family to stop myself.”

Another detransitioner, who once sought to transition from female to male, developed a “really disturbing sense that, like, a part of my body was missing, almost a ghost limb feeling about being like, there’s something that should be there.”

A preschool teacher has gone viral on social media after describing how she teaches her young, impressionable students about her personal life — including the fact that the teacher is polyamorous, gender-fluid, not identifying as either female or male — and that she is a pagan witch. The teacher, who, according to the Post Millennial, goes by the name Lois Schwartz, recently shared a video in which she bragged about her woke students and their informal education on human sexuality.

“Man, y’all thought me teaching the children about me being poly was crazy. But, not only that, but they also know that I’m gender-fluid!” she said in the video. “At one-point last year, I had explained to them that I was not Miss Lois or Mr. Lois. It’s just Lois because I’m not a boy or girl. And this was all well and good until October, when I also explained to them that I’m pagan, so I am also a witch.”

She continued, “And at one point I got a haircut, and I had gotten the sides of my mohawk shaved down and I come into work and one of the children goes, ‘Lois, are you a boy? You have short hair.’ And his sister goes, ‘No, Lois is a girl.’ And a third child, who is my favorite, suddenly yells, ‘No guys, we’ve been over this. Lois isn’t a boy or a girl. Lois is a witch. Duh.'”

The video, posted by the Libs of TikTok Twitter account, was captioned, “This polyamorous genderfluid witch is a preschool teacher in Florida. She’s so proud of herself that she discusses her gender and sexuality with 4 year olds[.]”

The owner of the Libs of TikTok Twitter account recently told the Post Millennial that they believe the American school system is breaking down, concerning video by concerning video.

“I think that the American education system is completely and has completely been taken over by leftists,” the Twitter handle owner, who was not identified, told the outlet. “From the top down, we have the school board, the superintendent, the teachers, the staff, and it has been completely taken over over the last few years. So what we’re seeing is the, like, push for, you know, the woke agenda, which includes, obviously, the sexual stuff and the critical race theory, and even some anti-American propaganda. We’re seeing all of that being incorporated into all the schools, which are run by these crazy leftists.”

In a move designed to appease pro-union progressives and strike a blow against Amazon, the National Labor Relations Board’s general counsel will ask the board to strip companies of certain free speech rights, which would overturn more than seven decades of legal precedent.

In a memo sent last week, NLRB general counsel Jennifer Abruzzo declared her intention to ask the board to reconsider an employer’s right to hold “captive audience” meetings, mandatory meetings that companies sometimes use to argue against worker efforts to form a union. Progressives argue that requiring employees to listen to anti-union rhetoric while at work is a coercive and unlawful practice, while their opponents say companies have a recognized and statutorily protected First Amendment right to express their opposition to unionization.

Abruzzo’s memo makes the progressive argument. She wrote to NLRB field offices across the country on April 7 that captive audience meetings “inherently involve an unlawful threat that employees will be disciplined or suffer other reprisals if they exercise their protected right not to listen to such speech.” She claims that NLRB case precedent — settled law — was wrongly decided and that the board should “reconsider such precedent and find mandatory meetings of this sort unlawful.”

The specific case Abruzzo refers to is the NLRB’s 1948 decision in Babcock & Wilcox, where the Board concluded that companies could compel employees to attend anti-union meetings without violating the National Labor Relations Act. That decision was based on part of the law that says, “The expressing of any views, argument, or opinion, or the dissemination thereof … shall not constitute or be evidence of an unfair labor practice.”

Abruzzo argues the Board’s decision 74 years ago is “inconsistent” with labor law.

“This license to coerce is an anomaly in labor law, inconsistent with the Act’s protection of employees’ free choice. It is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of employers’ speech rights,” she wrote in the memo. “I believe that the NLRB case precedent, which has tolerated such meetings, is at odds with fundamental labor-law principles, our statutory language, and our Congressional mandate. Because of this, I plan to urge the Board to reconsider such precedent and find mandatory meetings of this sort unlawful.”

Progressive attacks on captive audience meetings have become something of a cause célèbre during the labor dispute at Amazon. As Amazon warehouse employees in Bessemer, Alabama, and New York City have tried to unionize, the company has held meetings to dissuade them. The New York Times reported in March that Amazon has held “hundred of meetings with workers to discourage them from supporting a union.”

Union supporters say they want to improve health and safety conditions at Amazon warehouses and receive better pay and treatment from management. They’ve accused Amazon of misrepresenting the benefits of unionization at these mandatory meetings and filed complaints with the NLRB accusing the company of trying to coerce workers against unionization.

Abruzzo’s memo, however, has been criticized for attempting to rewrite settled law on this question without input from Congress. The Wall Street Journal editorial board wrote in an editorial that the general counsel’s memo “is a thumb in the eye of Congress and the Constitution.”

“Companies can clearly require employees to attend meetings — say, to discuss productions goals or workplace morale. Banning any mention of unionization at a meeting, or its impact on company performance, is blatant speech regulation. Congress has been aware of the Babcock & Wilcox decision for decades and has never overruled it,” the Journal’s editorial board argued.

The coroner’s report on Cam Newton’s NFL career should list “lack of self-awareness” as the cause of death, not misogyny.

Newton returned to the news cycle yesterday after media outlets circulated comments about women he made during a recent podcast interview. On the Sunday edition of the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast, Newton discussed his upbringing, his parents’ long marriage, and his philosophy on women. The latter comments provoked the ire of feminists, the matriarchy, Twitter, and beta males and cast Newton as the love child of Archie Bunker and Cardi B.

Newton said: “It’s a lot of women who are bad bit***s, and and I say ‘bit***s’ in a way not to degrade a woman but just to go off the aesthetic of what they deem as a ‘boss chick.’ A woman for me is handling your own but knowing how to cater to man’s needs. I think a lot of times when you get that aesthetic of like ‘I’m a boss bit**, I’m a this, I’m a that,’ no baby. But you can’t cook. You don’t know when to be quiet. You don’t know how to allow a man to lead.”

ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio wrote that Newton’s “outdated views regarding gender roles and obligations” will make it more difficult for Newton to land a job this off-season.

I disagree. Sans the profane language, Newton’s views on gender roles and obligations are commonplace in the NFL or among high-net-worth men. His views are standard among people, regardless of income, with a biblical worldview. Genesis 2:18 says that God created Eve as a suitable helper (helpmeet) for Adam. Newton’s views are not problematic or outside the mainstream, especially within his peer group. It’s his lack of self-awareness that’s the problem. The content of his podcast interview is a reflection of the lack of self-awareness that has undermined the success of his NFL career.

Newton never fully delivered on his seemingly endless potential because of his distorted view of himself. Talent and the coddling produced by immense athletic gifts blinded the quarterback prodigy to the harsh realities and inevitabilities of playing the most challenging position in all of sports.

Talent isn’t enough at quarterback. The intangibles of leadership, film study, technique, and persona matter as much as physical skill. Cam Newton was a rock star playing the one position in football that requires an actor. Newton was Rick James, b***h! He needed to be Denzel Washington.

Had Newton played tight end or outside linebacker, he’d likely be seen as a sure-fire Hall of Famer and a missing piece for some team’s Super Bowl dream. Instead, at age 32, the former MVP is jobless, quite possibly finished as an NFL player, and too many miles from Canton, Ohio, to hitchhike to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Rich Gannon, a journeyman, played in more Pro Bowls, won more games, and had a better career than Cam Newton. Why? Because Newton has no idea how to be a leader. You can see the shortcoming in his attitude toward women.

“You don’t know how to allow a man to lead.”

Newton doesn’t know how to lead. He fathered four kids with a woman, Kim Proctor, he refuses to marry. His relationship with Proctor ended because he fathered a fifth child with an Instagram model.

Why would a woman follow a man with five illegitimate kids? Why would a woman cater to the needs of a man who refuses to cater to her desire for monogamy, matrimony, and spiritual salvation? Why would a woman agree to be a suitable helper to a man who eschews being obedient to God’s will?

You can’t lead without sacrifice. You can’t lead without following first. In order to follow God, man must sacrifice the desires of the world.

This is at the heart of Newton’s professional underachievement. His talents convinced him he didn’t need to do all the little things that make great quarterbacks and great leaders. When it comes to relationships, wealthy men suffer the same delusion. They think finances allow them to bend the rules in their personal relationships with women.

I’ve made this mistake too many times to count.

In the podcast interview, Newton praised his dad and mom for sustaining their 38-year marriage. His parents are devout Christians. Newton said his father set a tremendous example of what a man is supposed to be. Did Cam follow his father’s blueprint? Is Cam obedient to God’s will?

Cam’s lack of self-awareness is the reason he doesn’t know when to be quiet, when to be humble, when to be reflective, and when to evaluate his own behavior rather than analyze the actions of “bad bit***s” and boss chicks.

Newton’s intentions on and off the field are positive. He wants to be a great football player. He wants to build a great family, similar to his parents. Talent and money have prevented him from taking the necessary steps to make those goals a reality.

Virtually every NFL owner, executive, and coach desires a woman who can cook, caters to his needs, knows when to be quiet, and will allow him to lead. They want the exact same thing from their players.

As a football player, Cam Newton is a lot like the “bad bit***s” he describes. Everybody eventually tires of “bad bit***s.” The NFL is tired of Cam.
