America Has Strayed From Founders’ Vision for Economic Freedom and Limited Government, Walter Williams Says

“I think that our government has become destructive of the ends it was created to serve,” Walter Williams, a professor of economics at George Mason University, said in a speech Tuesday at The Heritage Foundation. (Photo: Thaleigha Rampersad)

An author and economics professor warns that America must return to the Founders’ vision of limited government to preserve the economic future of the country.

“I think we can safely say that we have made a significant departure from the constitutional principles of individual liberty and limited government that made us a rich nation in the first place,” Walter Williams, a professor of economics at George Mason University, said in a speech Tuesday at The Heritage Foundation.

Most legitimate functions of government are noted in the Constitution, such as collecting taxes and providing for the common defense and general welfare of the country, and regulating commerce between the states and with foreign nations, he said.

“Nowhere in the Constitution, in the United States Constitution, do we find authority for Congress to tax and spend for up to three-quarters of what Congress taxes and spends for today,” Williams said. “In other words, there is no constitutional authority for farm subsidies, bank bailouts, food stamps, business bailouts—not to mention midnight basketball.”

The latter is a reference to a provision in a federal anti-crime bill in the mid-1990s.

The rise in spending in government, he said, is the best way to illustrate how fast and how much the government has grown.

“To put it in perspective, in 1902, expenditures at all levels of government—I mean federal, state, and local levels of government—totaled $1.7 billion,” he said. “In 1902, the average taxpayer paid $60 a year for state and local taxes. In fact, from 1787 until 1925, federal expenditures were only 3 percent of the [gross domestic product], except during wartime.”

But that was then, and this is now.

“Today, federal expenditures alone are close to 25 percent of the GDP. State and local governments spend over $3 trillion. The federal government over $4 trillion,” he said. “The average taxpayer today pays more than $10,000 a year in federal, state, and local taxes.”

Williams, a syndicated columnist, urged those in his audience to take ownership of what is rightfully theirs.

“As time goes by, you and I own less and less of our most valuable property; namely, ourselves and the fruits of our labor,” he said, adding:

Free enterprise is threatened today, not because of its failure. Somewhat ironically, it is threatened because of its success.

That is, free enterprise or capitalism has been so successful in eliminating the traditional problems of mankind—such as disease, pestilence, hunger, and gross poverty—that all other human problems appear to us at once to be inexcusable and unbearable.

Williams said Americans need to remember that all of the programs “offered” by the government come at a personal cost and that the government has no resources of its own.

“[T]hose programs coming from Washington or out of your state capitals, they don’t represent congressmen and legislators reaching in their own pockets to send out the money,” he noted, adding:

When we recognize that government has no resources of its very own, that forces you to recognize that the only way the government can give one American one dollar is first through intimidation, threats, and coercion—confiscate that dollar from some other American.

Now if you think I am being too loose with terminology and intimidation, threats, and coercion, you have April 15.

He said that it’s incumbent on the American people to return to the Founders’ vision of limited government to preserve freedom.

“I think that our government has become destructive of the ends it was created to serve,” Williams said. “I think that our Founders would be very disappointed with you and me if they were to come back and see that we have developed a new class of people that prefers safety to liberty.

“But the optimistic note for us is that we Americans have not done the wrong thing for a long time,” he added. “But we better get about setting our house in order while we still have the freedom to do so.”

Williams’ lecture was the first in a new series, “Free Markets: The Ethical Economic Choice,” sponsored by The Heritage Foundation.

Newly Disclosed Strzok-Page Texts Shed New Light on ‘Media Leak Strategy’ at FBI, Justice

Strzok-Page texts revealed “an apparent systemic culture of media leaking by high-ranking officials at the FBI and DOJ related to ongoing investigations.” (Photo: Aaron P. Bernstein/Reuters/Newscom)

Peter Strzok has been fired from his job at the FBI, but the hits from his text messages to his former mistress, former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, just keep on coming. In the latest development, Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., has written a letter to Rod Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, disclosing that the latest documents provided to his committee by the Justice Department contained Strzok-Page texts that revealed “an apparent systemic culture of media leaking by high-ranking officials at the FBI and DOJ related to ongoing investigations.”

Meadows, who chairs the subcommittee on government operations of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, was referring to a text on April 10, 2017, in which Strzok tells Page that he wants to talk to her “about [a] media leak strategy with DOJ.”

The reason that this is significant is that on April 11, the very next day, The Washington Post broke the story that the FBI had obtained Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants to electronically eavesdrop on former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page after convincing the FISA court that Page was “acting as an agent of a foreign power.”

The Washington Post article cited “law enforcement” officials as the source of its story. On April 12, the day after the story broke, Strzok sent Lisa Page another text message that, according to Meadows, congratulated her for a job “well done,” while referring to two derogatory articles about Carter Page.

As Meadows correctly points out, the story set “off a flurry of articles suggesting connections between President Trump and Russia.”

Of course, after a year and a half of the special counsel investigation by Robert Mueller, there still has not been any evidence publicly revealed that shows any actual collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian officials and agents. Moreover, Carter Page has never been charged with being an agent of a foreign power or for any other violation of the law.

What makes this even worse is that Meadows also tells Rosenstein that other documents indicate that Andrew Weissmann “participated in unauthorized conversations with the media during this same time period,” as did other “senior officials at the FBI and DOJ.” Weissmann is a senior deputy to Mueller in the special counsel’s investigation.

None of this alleged misbehavior should be a surprise.

In June, the Justice Department’s inspector general, Michael Horowitz, released his report on the handling of the separate Hillary Clinton email investigation. One of his findings was that FBI agents “widely ignored” the FBI’s policy against disclosure of confidential information about law enforcement investigations. The agents making these disclosures even “received benefits from reporters, including tickets to sporting events, golfing outings, drinks and meals, and admittance to nonpublic events.”

The disclosure of confidential law enforcement information in a criminal investigation can irreparably damage the reputations and livelihoods of innocent individuals (not to mention presidential candidates). It can also unduly prejudice the due process rights of those targeted in a federal investigation and prosecution.

What is especially disturbing about this is that, as Meadows says in his letter:

During our interviews with Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, FBI attorneys consistently suggested witnesses could not answer questions due to the U.S. Attorneys’ Manual’s policy for ongoing investigations.  However, documents strongly suggest that these same witnesses discussed the ongoing investigation multiple times with individuals outside of the investigative team on a regular basis.

If anyone thinks this leaking has been stopped since Horowitz criticized the FBI in his June report, think again.

Meadows says that his committee “continues to receive troubling evidence that the practice of coordinated media interactions continues to exist with the DOJ and FBI.” In August, Meadows claimed that he had information indicating that the FBI and Justice Department leaked information to the press in order to be able to use “those same press stories as a separate source to justify FISA” warrants.

As a result of his review of this recently provided documentation, Meadows is asking Rosenstein for copies of all communications between several FBI agents and Justice Department officials and Strzok, Lisa Page, Andrew McCabe, Bruce Ohr, and Weissmann that “would provide critical insight into the backdrop of the Russia investigation.”

What Meadows didn’t ask for—but should have—is an explanation about Weissmann’s alleged meetings with the media.

  • Did they happen, and, if so, why? Who authorized them?
  • What was the purpose?
  • What confidential information was revealed?
  • Did those communications reveal any bias by Weissmann that might affect the integrity of the ongoing investigation?
  • Were any media stories used in any FISA applications to justify electronic surveillance?

It seems clear from Meadows’ letter that Congress and the public may still not have all of the information they need to determine whether there was a legitimate basis for the FISA warrants that authorized electronic surveillance of the Trump campaign and launched the Russian election-collusion investigation, and whether this investigation has been appropriately handled.

Horowitz’s office is investigating alleged abuses of the FISA process. Hopefully, his report will cover these issues.

It is also important that Congress get to the bottom of this, not only to protect the rights of individuals who may have been unfairly targeted by federal law enforcement agents, but also to ensure that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which is an important and necessary tool in our counter-intelligence operations, was not maliciously abused for political purposes.

Government for Hire? Emails Show ‘Climate Industry’ Funds Jobs in Offices of Governors, Attorneys General

California Gov. Jerry Brown is welcoming climate activists to a global summit in San Francisco this week. Pictured: Brown delivers his final state of the state address Jan. 25 in Sacramento. (Photo: Fred Greaves/Reuters/ Newscom)

California Gov. Jerry Brown is host of a three-day “Global Climate Action Summit” in San Francisco organized by an “activist donor network” that has burrowed into state government agencies, a climate change skeptic says in a new report.

Chris Horner, a senior fellow with the Competitive Enterprise Institute, is the author of two reports detailing how a well-endowed “climate industry” steers donor money through nonprofit organizations into the offices of state governors and attorneys general.

The relationship between governors and environmental activists who are using governors’ offices to advance the climate change agenda of certain donors is the subject of a report by Horner released Tuesday by CEI, a libertarian think tank in Washington.

“A particular theme slated for the San Francisco event is that President Trump’s promise to withdraw from the Paris climate treaty is isolating the United States from what is otherwise and elsewhere a doable, successful, and economically beneficial adoption of this agenda,” Horner writes.

The new report highlighting Brown, a Democrat, builds on Horner’s report last month describing how these same special interests work with compliant state attorneys general.

It views the actions of Brown in California as a case study, examining how elected officials and other political figures allow their offices to be used to pursue climate change policies that conform with the international accord known as the Paris Agreement.

Government officials around the world negotiated the agreement in Paris as part of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2015. The agreement calls on countries to combat the perceived threat of climate change by working to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

In June 2017, President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. would withdraw from the Paris Agreement, which he said “disadvantages the United States to the exclusive benefit of other countries.”

Brown’s San Francisco summit, set for Wednesday through Friday, places a strong emphasis on opposition to Trump’s policies, Horner writes:

Trump vowed to withdraw from the Paris Agreement because it is in reality a costly and ineffectual solution to the alleged climate crisis, it mostly directs resources to politically favored industries, and it harms disfavored ones. For similar reasons, the climate industry is dedicated to reversing Trump’s not yet consummated decision.

A major component of its campaign is claiming momentum toward Paris’s goals and rebutting the history of economic and social costs involved in implementing the policies that Paris demands. Implementation of the Paris agenda requires domestic policies, and implementing those policies is the principal objective of the campaign detailed in this paper.

The Daily Signal sought comment from Brown’s office on the new report, but had not received a response at publication time.

The California governor’s three-day summit comes with a budget of $10 million made possible through the support of individuals, foundations, governments and business, according to Horner’s report.

The nonprofits involved “take a handsome percentage for serving as middlemen,” it says.

Emails obtained from open-records requests indicate that politicians are making use of nonprofits and consultants as “pass-throughs for donors to support politicians with resources that the relevant legislatures will not provide and that donors cannot legally provide directly,” Horner’s report says.

The email records describe privately funded staff members placed in governor’s offices as “refugees” from the Obama administration who are working to reposition U.S. policy on climate and energy to conform with their preferred policies.

Horner, author of a 2007 book called “The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming and Environmentalism,” raises several questions in the new report in response to what he uncovered:

Are the donors going to such lengths to avoid 1) directly placing consultants in governors’ offices or 2) giving the money to do so directly to those offices, because they are barred from such placement? If so, why is this permissible? Or is the effort creating middlemen all merely due to appearances? Why do we find participants misleading or telling outright falsehoods when questioned about what we have found?

And the biggest issue of all is, does this represent government for hire?

The “off-the-book” operations detailed in the emails call out for legislative oversight to determine whether they violate state laws, Horner concludes.

FYI Cartoonists: Drawing Serena Williams Throwing A Fit Is Now ‘Racist’

Written By Wes Walker |

You haven’t seen this much outrage over a cartoon since that Danish guy drew something that set half the world on fire. Turns out some people get really antsy when you draw Mohammed. Who knew?

In America, they don’t care so much if you draw a religious figure. And mocking politicians (especially if they are Republican) is fair game. Not just ‘fair game’, but it’s absolutely open season.

Have you seen Time Magazine’s representative of our President on their covers? They even used that bogus pic of Trump towering over a little girl who wasn’t ACTUALLY separated from her mommy like the press photographer had first claimed.

And one guy is so worked up on the bogus idea that Russia stole the election that he expressed himself with this dishonorable slop, on 9/11 of all days:

But if a cartoonist lampoons a beloved celebrity’s childish behavior? Serena threw a tantrum, broke the rules, was docked points, stole the spotlight, and sucked all the oxygen out of a moment that should have been one of triumph for the new champion.

Make fun of THAT in a comic, and all hell breaks loose.

People took issue with the caricature of Serena’s features. (Are these critics new to the idea of political and current-event cartoons?)

Here are some responses:

And no, there wasn’t really a baby’s pacifier on the court when Williams had her tantrum but that is part of the humor and embellishment that cartoonists routinely employ to make a point. It’s astonishing that something so obvious needs to be pointed out.

“I have to make her look like who she is. I’m not going to draw Taylor Swift when I’m portraying Serena Williams,” Knight explained.

“It’s a cartoon about poor behavior. It’s got nothing to do with race.

“Maybe you can’t caricature people of color but a couple of weeks ago I did a cartoon of Aretha Franklin. I’ve heard cartoonists say to criticize a minority in any way is ‘punching down’ and because I’m a white man, it’s out of bounds for me to criticize someone like Serena Williams.”
Source: Herald Sun

Someone wrote in with about as sensible a defense of the picture as you can get:

SHOW a race-obsessed agitator a cartoon lampooning a petulant tennis star and all they’ll see is “racism”. That’s all they ever see, whether it exists or not.

You know we live in crazy times when a progressive artist from country Victoria is slandered around the world as a racist misogynist for a funny cartoon that depicts Serena Williams’ outrageous antics at the US Open tennis final.
Source: Herald Sun

Just like a little while ago when everyone was freaking out about the ‘obvious racism’ of Ron DeSantis saying ‘monkey this up’, finding new ‘racist overtones’ every day says more about the perpetually offended grumblers who cry foul than the people they accuse of racism.

It’s a cartoon. Grow up and get yourself a sense of humor. If you won’t do that, you can just pick up Serena’s soother and go home.

Opinion | Trump Shuts Down Assad, Shows Obama How a Real Leader Handles Chemical Warfare

Reported By Jared Harris | September 10, 2018 at

6:57pm

Chemical weapons are some of the nastiest things to come out of war. They can’t tell the difference between a soldier and a child. Depending on the level of exposure, death can come after a few agonizing minutes. Those that do survive often live with neurological, physiological, and mental wounds for the rest of their life.

It’s no wonder this was a “red line” for former President Barack Obama in the Syrian Civil War. When chemical weapons were used, however, the United States of America was nowhere to be found.

Obama’s excuse? Chlorine gas, used in the attack, isn’t a chemical weapon.

“Chlorine itself has not been listed as a chemical weapon,” the former president stated.

Chemical weapon or not, chlorine gas isn’t pretty. I won’t list the effects here, but accounts from the First World War paint a grisly picture of chlorine’s gruesome interaction with human skin, eyes, and organs.

Let’s give Obama a pass and let him play around with semantics. President Donald Trump operates by a different standard.

Syria attempted to test Trump’s red line with chemical weapons, possibly expecting the same response as Obama. Within a week, Trump had U.S. warships parked on the coast. A few missile salvos made his position on the matter painfully clear.

Now, apparently not done with poking the sleeping giant, Syria has doubled down on chemical weapons. Syrian President Bashar Assad has given the green light for use of chlorine in what is expected to be the last true battle of the Syrian Civil War.

Idlib province is the last remaining rebel holdout, and the target of Assad’s chemical ambitions.

The remaining rebels are a motley crew — the survivors include al-Qaeda allies and the Turkistan Islamic Party, an Islamic terrorist group that was founded in China. Unfortunately, the area is also crawling with civilians.

The province of Idlib had a population of 1.5 million in 2011, giving it roughly the same population as modern-day Hawaii. Although international treaties forbid use of force against civilian targets, the Syrian Civil War is already rife with humanitarian crimes.

Trump leveled a stark warning against Assad, telling him to play fair — or else.

“If it’s a slaughter, the world is going to get very, very angry, and the United States is going to get very angry too,” President Trump said.

A new initiative approved by the Commander-in-Chief would see 2,000 U.S. troops stationed in Syria indefinitely. The purpose is to ensure the total eradication of ISIS as well as the return of Iranian forces to their home country.

The Middle East has ultimately been a quagmire for the United States military. Every insurgent force we fight is an expert in asymmetrical warfare, draining our economy while giving us no real gains. We have nothing to show in the almost 17 years we have spent engaged in Afghanistan. Our time in Iraq did unseat a dictator, but our exit gave ISIS a playground full of abandoned U.S. equipment.

This doesn’t mean we should ignore evil in the world. Trump was right to act once his red line had been violated. Assad knows to tread carefully now — the second lesson from the United States is sure to be more painful than the first.

As for the best Syria policy? Donald Trump himself hinted at it in 2013.

If they want a war, we’re always ready to give them one. But let’s hope they don’t.

Commentary: Norway’s Boardroom Gender Quota Didn’t Work. California May Try It Anyway.

California aims to experiment with a gender boardroom quota law that has been tried in countries all over Europe. (Photo: Mike Blake/Reuters/Newscom)

The latest craze is a bill that would force publicly held companies to put women on their boards by 2019. Specifically, companies would have to add at least one woman to their board by the end of 2019, and by the end of 2021 the boards must be made up by at least 40 percent women, depending on the size.

All this, under the threat of heavy fines.

The legislation passed through the California Legislature and awaits signature by Gov. Jerry Brown. If Brown signs the measure into law, it would make California the first state to have such a mandatory quota.

The legislation likely runs afoul of the California Constitution and the Constitution of the United States, but it’s also a terrible idea on its own merits.

Over the last decade, numerous European countries—France, Germany, and Italy, among others—have adopted similar laws with generally negative results.

Norway was the first country to do so, and the results have been lackluster to say the least. Norway adopted a gender boardroom quota in 2006, requiring 40 percent of publicly traded corporate boards be comprised of women.

The result, according to The Washington Times, is that numerous Norwegian companies have either left the country or changed their practices to skirt the law.

“The number of public limited firms in Norway by 2009 was less than 70 percent of the number in 2001, according to the study, while the number of privately held firms not subject to the gender quotas jumped by more than 30 percent,” according to The Washington Times.

This won’t be good for California, which already has a problem with businesses pulling up stakes and moving elsewhere.

Though proponents of the law claimed it would improve businesses by forcing them to include more women in the upper echelons of power, there is little evidence that’s the case.

A 2012 study found that the “constraint imposed by the quota caused a significant drop in the stock price at the announcement of the law.”

“The quota led to younger and less experienced boards, increases in leverage and acquisitions, and deterioration in operating performance, consistent with less capable boards,” the study found.

In a review of the gender quota laws across Europe, The Economist concluded that they have not “proved their worth.”

Among The Economist’s findings was that the law has failed to open up jobs for women in the “lower levels of the corporate hierarchy.” The women who are succeeding in this system are typically from a limited pool that now receives additional opportunities and higher pay from multiple companies that want their services.

So, the women in the thin slice at the top do great because companies need to fill their quotas.

The fact that the quotas have had either negligible or negative impact on businesses is already problematic, but it’s also worth considering the message that’s being sent to women. The policy essentially amounts to affirmative action, which can provoke doubt in the actual capabilities of those who are promoted to high positions, whether that doubt is warranted or not.

As Carrie Lukas, managing director of the nonprofit Independent Women’s Forum, argued in The New York Times, gender quota laws are a bad way to ensure more women get into corporate boardrooms, regardless of intent.

“Board quotas may seem like a convenient shortcut to workplace equality, but they are not—nor are they a long-term solution,” Lukas wrote. “A distraction at best, they may undo women’s historic gains by suggesting that we cannot succeed on our own.”

One of the things that infuriated Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas in his career as a lawyer was the condescending attitude insinuating that he got to where he is only through an affirmative action boost. In some ways, he saw it as worse than open bigotry.

California’s law will create the same perception of female executives, even for those who rose on merit alone—especially if the quotas foist underqualified candidates onto boards that only increase the perception that women aren’t up to the job.

Even some feminists recognize that using government power to force companies to hire more women is counterproductive regardless of end goals.

The evidence is clear. Boardroom quotas are simply a bad idea that should be left in Europe.

Judge Jeanine Tarnishes Obama Legacy in Brutal Fashion

Reported By Lisa Payne-Naeger | September 9, 2018 at

12:58pm

You’ve got to love Judge Jeanine Pirro and her common-sense plain talk. She speaks to mainstream Americans just as well as, if not better than, President Donald Trump on matters that are near and dear to their hearts, on issues that affect their lives on a daily basis.

In her latest monologue Saturday night, Pirro brilliantly outlined why Americans rebelled against the establishment of either party to elect Trump.

On Friday former President Barack Obama spoke at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and in that speech he unloaded on the current administration with countless criticisms. Not only did he try his best to cast the Trump White House in a bad light, he tried to take credit for Trump administration successes.

That gave Pirro all the ammunition she needed to so succinctly outline the current differences between the mindset of voters who elected the current president and their mindset when they elected him.

And in the “Opening Statement” segment of Fox News’ “Justice with Judge Jeanine,” she held nothing back.

She began: “All of you have a decision to make. It has never happened in the history of this country, an ex-president viciously attacking his successor, trashing our commander in chief, his party and all those Americans who put him in the Oval Office…

“There is so much hatred and resentment over the success of this president that they simply cannot handle it. I’ve got news for you. It’s not going to stop. The haters aren’t going anywhere. But if you’re a patriot and you like the course America is on, just ignore them, get behind this president and vote.

“Yesterday, with a full-throttle savage attack on the president, Barack’s message, obstruct and resist. He pontificates about the reality of racial discrimination, slavery and the quote, ‘darker aspects of America’s story’ …”

Pirro went on to cite various instances in which Obama and his administration facilitated racial and religious division in the nation. She skillfully dissected Obama’s comments on the economy, Middle East policy, relations with Russia, money to the Clinton Foundation, antifa and the various other narratives Obama pushes to stoke his base into hatred and division.

The list is long.

Pirro addressed Obama directly and at length: “You ran the most corrupted administration since Harry Truman and you can’t stand it that every metric under Trump is better off than when you were in office.

“And Donald Trump is one of the biggest threats to our democracy? How dare you? This man is the president of the United States, someone that we put in office and he is to be respected. Your attack on him as a racist and a fascist is not about making things better for us, its about you, your ego and your corrupt, deep-state power structure…

“You desperately tried to defeat Trump and it didn’t work. And you remain in Washington to support the resistance and obstruction of a sitting American president while you stoke your racial cop -ating narrative.”

As Pirro tied it all together, it almost seems too simple. Americans have seen through the smoke-and-mirrors version of the nation presented by the left.

“Your version of America is not the America we want,” Pirro said, still addressing Obama. “To us, social justice is about justice for American citizens, and not illegal criminals. To us, social justice is about taking care of veterans who come back to our shores with fewer limbs than when they left. To us, social justice is not about burning our flag. It is about raising it and lifting it.

“I’m sorry to say this, but there’s one thing that you’re going to have to live with. The only reason that we have an outsider businessman president is because of you, your lies, your policies and your divisiveness. You, Barack. You elected Donald Trump and there’s nothing you can do about the fact that he’s sitting in the Oval Office now. So I guess I should say, thank you, Barack.”

Barack Obama should know better than to try to speak out against a sitting president, especially this one. Americans have woken up to the fact that they are better off under policies that support capitalism, less regulation and thriving economy rather than divisiveness, open boarders and socialism.

And Judge Jeanine delivered a perfect narrative to describe what Americans are thinking, regardless of the critical narrative presented by Obama and the left. If Obama is upset at seeing his legacy go up in smoke, he has no one to blame but himself .

Attorney John Dowd: ‘I Saw a Stall Going On’ With Mueller Probe

Reported By Susan Jones | September 6, 2018 | 5:29

AM EDT

Former Trump attorney John Dowd told Fox News he regrets relying on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s word that Mueller would move quickly on the Trump-Russia investigation. (Photo: Screen capture/Fox News)

(CNSNews.com) – The Trump administration has given Special Counsel Robert Mueller all the witnesses and documents he requested; Mueller understands that the investigation is a “great burden on the president”; and Mueller has even told President Trump’s legal team that Trump is not a target of the investigation, Trump’s former attorney John Dowd said Wednesday night.

Yet Mueller has not kept his word about wrapping up the Trump-Russia investigation, as he should have done by now, Dowd said.

“That’s when I saw a stall going on, and I just lost complete faith in him because we had shaken hands,” Dowd told Fox News’s Sean Hannity. He said he now regrets taking Mueller at his word.

Dowd, who resigned from Trump’s legal team in March, said it was Mueller’s suggestion that his team “engage” and “work together” with the White House — “and we said fine.”

You ask for the document list, ask for your witnesses. And Ty Cobb and Jay (Sekulow) and I provided them. And he said he wouldn’t let any grass grow. And every meeting and communication we had, we stressed how important it was and how his inquiry was a great burden on the president, and interfered with the president’s ability to lead this country, particularly in foreign affairs.

And he said he took that very seriously. And on and on, he gave me his word he would do it. And we got to late last year and he had completed the 37 witnesses. And I asked him, did you have any problem with those witnesses? They were all well-represented, all well-prepared, and he said no. Did anyone lie to you? No.

Documents. We gave you 1.4 million but more importantly, we gave you the most intimate notes of the communications and deliberations by the president. No president in history has ever done anything like that. Are we missing anything, are there any missing documents? No. Are you satisfied with everything you’ve got? Yes.

I said, well, what’s the president’s exposure? Well, The president’s exposure, he’s a witness slash/subject. I said, so he’s not a target, correct? Correct. That means he had no exposure. And at that point we said well, why don’t you just decline?

He said well, we’d like to get back to you on that but we think we need to talk to the president…And we said, what do you not know that we have not given you — that only the president knows? And he could never answer that question, Sean. And that’s when I saw a stall going on, and I just lost complete faith in him because we had shaken hands.

He’s the one who said, John, we’ll engage. We said, we are not going to raise conflicts, we are not going to raise the legality of the order, we are not going to fool with all this nonsense, let’s get the job done. This president wants the job done. And by the way the president gets the credit. He’s the one that said, give it to him.

Do you now regret believing Mueller? Hannity asked.

“I regret relying on him because he didn’t keep his word,” Dowd replied. “And I believed he would keep his word.

“But more importantly the way we did it completely protected the president. We’ve not waived executive privilege. We’ve not had four years of litigation. We’ve not had motions to quash grand jury subpoenas. We’ve not had anyone go in the grand jury, Sean.

“There is no case there, and that’s what Bob Mueller ought to face up and do. So yeah, it’s a very sad thing to see and then, you see the other cases — I mean, you see the Flynn case and the other case and it’s just — it’s more (of) this sorry abusive practice in the prosecutive ranks.

Dear CNN: Border Rancher Films Armed Illegals Tramping Thru His Property – Is That ‘News?’

Reported By K. Walker |

One Arizona rancher that lives on the U.S.-Mexico border set up hidden cameras on his land and here is what he captured on video. John Chilton, 79, has collected hours of video of illegal aliens trespassing on his 50,000-acre property on the southern border. He has released a 25-minute video showing a steady stream of people crossing into the United States on his land.

Chilton is a supporter of President Trump’s Big, Beautiful Wall, and has pushed for the government to replace the barbed wire fence at the border with something more substantial. He said that he set up the cameras to show the number of trespassers that cross over on his property, and the danger that they pose. Some bring large backpacks, some are in camouflage, and several carried guns and guided horses.

Chilton is concerned about the drug mules and human traffickers that cross the border.

The remote area is known for drug and migrant smuggling.

A US Border Patrol agent was wounded on Chilton’s property back in June when he was shot while canvassing the area.

Chilton said at the time the agent was struck in the leg and the hand, but several bullets also struck his protective vest.

‘Without it, he probably would not be with us today,’ Chilton told the Associated Press.

The rancher said his property is separated from Mexico by a four-strand wire fence.

‘We have drug runners coming through our ranch and this has become a very dangerous situation,’ Chilton said.

Source: Daily Mail

The video is from the Chilton Ranch and Arizona Border Recon.  Some of the footage goes back to 2016, but most of it is from 2018.

In 2014, McClatchy D.C. posted an article that seems to reference the same Mr. Chilton.

He said that thousands of illegal aliens have crossed on his land doing untold damage. A stretch of his property has become a favored spot for drug smugglers and other illegal border crossers, and confrontations are dangerous.

Chilton, who spoke by telephone while visiting the nation’s capital, said he’d offered the Border Patrol 10 acres right at the border on his 50,000-acre ranch, west of Nogales, to use as a forward operating base. So far, the agents haven’t accepted it.

U.S. senators from border states acknowledge that there are frictions with ranchers over border policy implementation and about damage to their properties.

“From time to time, there is concern about that,” said Sen. John Cornyn, a Texas Republican who’s the minority whip. “The Border Patrol tries to work with ranchers . . . to make sure they are good neighbors. But occasionally problems do arise.”

In 2013, Sen. John McCain sought to double the number of border patrol agents to 40,000 as a part of an immigration bill that didn’t pass. Sen. McCain, however, hadn’t listened to ranchers that insisted that more agents at the border was the wrong solution.

Nevertheless, he persisted.

And ultimately failed.

“It’s like in any war. You don’t just rely on the front line. We have to also have some depth,” McCain said. But he noted that many border ranchers face serious difficulties from many quarters. “Their frustration is real.”

Chilton said 4,000 migrants had crossed his ranch so far this year, and the border fence is so flimsy along the five-and-a-half-mile stretch of his property that touches the border that drug smugglers have made it a favored crossing.

“There’s a 30-mile gap of four-strand unpatrolled fence – a cattle fence – and I have to maintain it,” Chilton said.

He said he’d had encounters with heavily armed drug smugglers.

“Can you imagine what it feels like to run into people with AK-47s dressed in camo and with 30 people behind them?” Chilton asked, explaining what happens next. “We all go the other way as fast as possible.”

Another article from 2016 also cites Chilton. He says that the drug cartels and border agents play a game of ‘cat and mouse’ and struggle to keep their technology ahead of the other guy. Chilton says that his employees have found $2,500 satellite phones and $2,000 binoculars as well as other sophisticated equipment on his land left behind by scouts.

Chilton and his wife also said that 40 people have died on their land as they made their way across the border. They said that the cartels are brutal with the migrants — some women are repeatedly raped, and some men have had their fingers cut off. The Chiltons said that they once gave water to armed traffickers that came to their door looking for ‘agua.’ The elderly couple insists that they are not scared, but they now lie low in their kitchen with the lights off when they know that drug smugglers are in the area.

If only they had built that wall years ago.

Now, we have President Trump, and that wall needs to get built.

OPINION COMMENTARY: NYT Credibility Shot: Senior Official Turned Out To Be Intern in Past Hit Piece

Commentary By Ben Marquis | September 6, 2018 at 3:05pm

The New York Times published an opinionated hit piece against President Donald Trump on Wednesday, but what else is new?

The anonymously written op-ed article, titled “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration,” was purportedly penned by a “senior official” in Trump’s administration. It asserted that a collection of other “senior officials” are part of a broader, right-leaning “resistance” inside the administration that is “thwarting” the president’s “misguided impulses” to save the country from Trump’s petty recklessness.

This, even as the supposed “senior official” author admitted that many of Trump’s policies “have already made America safer and more prosperous,” though the author insisted that was the case in spite of, and not because of, Trump himself.

Unsurprisingly, the op-ed sparked plenty of controversy and outrage on all sides and provoked conspiratorial conversations about exactly who this anonymous “senior official” is.

Using clues such as linguistic mannerisms and specific words contained within the article, guesses have ranged from Vice President Mike Pence to a number of different cabinet-level officials to other truly “senior” officials in the top tier of the administration’s several agencies and departments.

But if Trump’s White House has engaged in a “witch hunt” of its own to identify the anonymous author of The Times’ hit piece, an op-ed in Townhall suggested the hunters avert their gaze from the cabinet and top tier of the administration and search a little bit lower on the totem pole to find the potentially seditious insider.

That Townhall piece noted that The Times has a history of inflating and over-exaggerating the stature or seniority of its anonymous sources from within the government, and pointed to a rather glaring example of the practice that occurred in 2011.

At that time, the explosive growth in natural gas energy production was gaining steam in large part because of technological progress in a new method of drilling known as hydraulic fracturing. Better known as “fracking,” it was widely opposed by the left, to include the Obama administration and its liberal mouthpieces at The Times.

A writer for The Times published a series of anti-fracking articles in the paper, one of which anonymously cited emails from three “senior” insiders — an energy industry analyst, a federal analyst and a senior administration official — who were all opposed to the shale energy boom and the industry’s methods used to extract it.

A Senate investigation into the matter determined that the emails had all originated in the federal government’s Energy Information Agency, and even better than that, all the emails from the three “different” sources had actually come from just one person employed by the EIA.

On top of that, the one EIA employee was nowhere close to truly being a “senior” official of any sort. At the time he wrote the first email quoted by The Times, he was actually an intern with the EIA. He had been promoted one rung on the ladder to be an entry-level analyst when he wrote the others.

A deeper dive into that particular scandal was well documented in a 2011 article published by Energy In Depth, including a look at how harshly The Times’ own ombudsman judged the newspaper’s product.

There’s no way of knowing who The Times’ source is in this case, but history suggests the possibility that The Times has similarly exaggerated or inflated the seniority of this anti-Trump “senior official” who is part of a resistance movement inside Trump’s own administration.

The Times editors — who stated in an introduction to the op-ed that they know who the author is — have refused to reveal that individual’s identity, ostensibly to protect the writer from potential blowback or career-ending punishment.

Perhaps just as likely is that they are protecting that person’s identity because it will be quite embarrassing for them if it is revealed that the “senior” official is in actuality some Trump-hating mid-level bureaucrat or low-level intern.

That’s if the op-ed was even written by a member of the administration at all, and wasn’t just some piece of fiction cooked up by The Times itself to smear Trump. (Hard as that might be to believe, it can’t be completely ruled out, given how fake some of the media’s “fake news” stories have been proven to be.)

Keep this in mind the next time somebody tries to assert how credible The New York Times is, when in reality it’s staffed by narrative-driven, leftist hacks who care more about pushing an agenda than actually reporting the news.

Today’s Ann Coulter Letter: Liberals Never Sleep (And Neither Does Jeff Sessions

Commentary by Ann Coulter  |

The left is very close to having a governing majority due entirely to immigration. Despite the promise of the Trump campaign, there isn’t much standing in their way. Now, they’re just running out the clock. Soon, we will have admitted so many immigrants that it will be too late to do anything.

Although liberals pretend to have no idea where conservatives got the idea that immigration was designed to change the country and bring in new voters, they weren’t always so modest.

In a 1998 article for Cornell University’s Roper Center for Public Opinion Research, Democratic political consultant Patrick Reddy exulted that the 1965 immigration act was “the Kennedy family’s greatest gift to the Democratic Party.” Changing the country’s demographics through immigration would be “George McGovern’s revenge,” liberal political strategist Ruy Teixeira announced 16 years ago — and then celebrated as a fait accompli upon Obama’s election in 2008.

The very reason the left loathes Trump is that he promised to stop their hostile takeover of our country. But instead of sticking it to his enemies by blocking their depraved agenda, he has fallen into their trap.

Obsessed with the Robert Mueller investigation, the president spends his days tweeting attacks on his attorney general, Jeff Sessions — the one member of Trump’s Cabinet making good on his campaign’s immigration promises.

It’s a win-win for the left. Either they drive Trump from office with an unending harassment campaign disguised as a legitimate investigation, or they keep him too distracted to thwart their plans to flood the country with foreigners.

The Swamp has succeeded beyond its wildest dreams. Trump seems to have completely forgotten about the one policy the left fears most.

Evidently, the media have decided Trump is no longer a threat to their inevitable conquest. The Washington Post cheerfully touts the “growing diversity” — i.e., non-whiteness — of Democrats’ nominees. (“Black and Latino Democratic nominees boost their ranks by merging insider organization and outside money,” Aug. 29.)

The New York Times is already doing a victory dance on the corpse of historical America. Recently, the newspaper hired a white male-hating bigot, Sarah Jeong, for its editorial board. In the past week alone, the Times has run articles with these headlines: “Who’s Afraid of a White Minority?” and “The Religion of Whiteness Becomes a Suicide Cult.”

The gleeful destruction of our country may be less annoying than the insults to our intelligence necessary to pull it off.

To keep the mass migration flowing, we get lies, half-truths, insults and cliches. The citizenship of anchor babies is a lie (see “Adios, America”); the humanitarian need of so-called “refugees” is a lie (see “Adios, America”); the lower crime rate and welfare consumption of immigrants is a lie (see “Adios, America”); the Trump administration’s policy of “separating children” from their parents at the border is a lie.

About 80 percent of the “children” are teenaged boys, many of them MS-13 gang members. Recently a child rapist tried to enter the country, claiming the rapee was his daughter. Don’t separate children from their rapists!

The left doesn’t care about child rape or human trafficking. They just want an end to America and its infernal white people.

Children” captured at the border have to be released from custody after 20 days, pursuant to an ACLU-forged court order. Twenty days was the number the ACLU settled on after determining that it would be impossible to process the illegal border-crossers’ asylum claims within that time frame, so the kids and their alleged “parents” would have to be released into the country.

I could process the claims in 10 minutes. Anyone who shows up on our border after “fleeing” El Salvador, Guatemala or Honduras isn’t fleeing anything. There are about 20 countries closer to their homes than the United States — and they speak the same language.

Among the countries closer to them than the U.S. is Mexico.

You’d think that, just as a PR matter, Mexico would say, We’re currently involved in this PR thing with the U.S., so let’s be REALLY nice to any illegals coming into our country. … He beats you? Oh, that’s awful — of course, you can stay here!

But no. Mexico says, Screw off, illegals. We’ll help you get to the U.S., but that’s the end of our beneficence.

The whole border surge is a hoax, intended to overwhelm the system and get Democrats their last needed non-American voters.

When they’re busted on their lies, liberals turn to cliches. “Diversity is a strength!” After four decades of mass immigration from the Third World, I think we’re all set on diversity. Any more diversity would be like bringing snow to Eskimos. We’re drowning in diversity.

Even if diversity were ever desirable — as opposed to what it is, which is “undesirable” — surely it’s not the most important value to a country. At best, diversity is a luxury, adding “vibrancy,” as The New York Times is constantly telling us.

It’s like having a rule that men need to set aside a certain amount of money each week to wear carnations in their lapels. Carnations are nice, but when you’re unemployed and the carnations are wormy, would you make that Priority No. 1?

Similarly, “diversity” is a luxury we can’t afford in a time of massive income inequality, stagnating wages and a raging heroin epidemic — with 90 percent of the heroin coming from Mexico.

When the cliches fall flat, they just say, So you’re with Hitler!

You’re Hitler if you support Teddy Kennedy’s original claims about his 1965 immigration bill. At the time, he and his co-conspirators swore up and down that it would not alter the country’s ethnic composition one iota. Now, it’s “white supremacist” to say: “We liked our country the way it was.”

Has anyone ever criticized a black, brown, beige, yellow, red or green nation for wanting to preserve its ethnicity? No, only a white majority is pure evil that must be extirpated.

When facing your new overlords, remember: When there was 10 seconds left on the clock, we decided to get rid of Jeff Sessions for keeping Trump’s promises on immigration, rather than using his office to protect the president from a Russian investigation so stupid that no one outside of the Swamp cares about it.

Breaking: Arizona Governor Announces Replacement for John McCain

Reported By Randy DeSoto | September 4, 2018 at

11:19am

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey named former Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl as the late Sen. John McCain’s replacement on Tuesday. Kyl served with McCain in the Senate from 1995 to Jan. 2013 before his retirement. Sen. Jeff Flake succeeded him. Kyl, 76, was the GOP minority whip before leaving office, which is the second-highest position in the Republican conference, the Arizona Republic reported.

Ducey made the announcement at a press conference from the Arizona capitol in Phoenix.

“There is no one in Arizona with the stature of Sen. Jon Kyl,” the governor said.

“There is no one in Arizona more prepared to represent our state in the U.S. Senate than Jon Kyl,” Ducey added. “He understands how the Senate functions and will make an immediate and positive impact benefiting all Arizonans.”

Ducey also tweeted, “I am deeply grateful to Sen. Kyl for agreeing to succeed his friend and colleague of so many years. Every single day that Jon Kyl represents #Arizona in the U.S. Senate is a day our state is well-served.”

Kyl has agreed to serve out the remainder of the current session of Congress, which will conclude in December.

Ducey expressed the hope that Kyl will stay on through the special election to fill McCain’s seat, which will take place in 2020. That election will be to fulfill the last two years of McCain’s term, which ends in 2022.

McCain’s wife, Cindy, offered support for Ducey’s choice tweeting, “Jon Kyl is a dear friend of mine and John’s. It’s a great tribute to John that he is prepared to go back into public service to help the state of Arizona.”

Kyl spoke at a ceremony at the Arizona capitol honoring McCain last week.

Most recently, Kyl has been serving in the role of “sherpa,” guiding Trump’s Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh through the confirmation process in the Senate.

Kyl will fly back to Washington, D.C., on Tuesday and could take up his seat in the Senate as early as Tuesday night.

Among the first high-profile votes he will be called upon to make is for the confirmation of Kavanaugh, which is expected later this month and likely to be close, given the current 51-49 Republican majority.

Compound Teen Betrays Jihadis, Horrific Details Revealed in Court

Reported By Cillian Zeal | September 3, 2018 at

9:18am

One of the teens who was taken into custody from the alleged jihadist camp in New Mexico has told investigators he was being trained for terrorist acts, Reuters reports.

The “13-year-old boy who was part of group taken into custody at a squalid New Mexico compound last month has told FBI agents his mother’s boyfriend was training him to conduct ‘jihad’ against non-believers,” according to federal court documents.

The boy’s mother is Jany Leveille, who investigators believe was the leader of the jihadist sect.

The boy was among 11 children and five adults living at the compound in Taos County when it was raided on Aug. 3 by local sheriff’s deputies, who discovered a large number of firearms and the children living in filthy conditions without food or clean water.

The dead body of a three-year-old boy was found buried at the same location three days later.

Earlier reports indicated that the adolescent and pre-adolescent members of the jihadist camp had been trained to carry out attacks and to “confront corrupt institutions or individuals,” including hospitals.

Leveille had apparently planned to target Grady Hospital in Atlanta “due to the treatment her mother received there,” according to court records.

Reuters reported that in an affidavit filed in support of a criminal complaint, an FBI special agent wrote that Leveille’s 13-year-old son told investigators that his mother’s boyfriend, Siraj Ibn Wahhaj, 40, wanted to “get an army together” and train them for jihad.

The boy told agents that Ibn Wahhaj trained him and another of Leveille’s teenage sons in firearms and military techniques, including rapid reloads and hand-to-hand combat, and told them jihad meant killing non-believers on behalf of Allah, according to the affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in New Mexico.

“The 13-year-old also told the FBI that his mother believed she received messages from God, and that he watched her and Ibn Wahhaj perform supposed ‘exorcism’ rituals over the three-year-old boy, including one during which the boy choked and his heart stopped,” according to the special agent’s affidavit.

The teen also said that they were told they would “all go to jail” if they talked about the 3-year-old ever being at the camp, Reuters noted.

The jihadist camp has been one of those stories that has flown under the radar, and for the most obvious of reasons.

Despite the fact that Wahhaj was “heavily armed with an AR15 rifle, five loaded 30-round magazines, and four loaded pistols, including one in his pocket when he was taken down,” a media obsessed with gun control decided it wasn’t worth the trouble of covering all that much.

The answer why was simple: It’s a jihadist camp, the kind that conservative outlets like the Western Journal have warned about for years and which liberal outlets have laughed about.

Nobody’s laughing now — or saying much of anything about this sick story.

COMMENTARY: President Trump Fires Back with His Own Incredible Response After McCain Funeral Turns Political

Commentary By Benjamin Arie | September 3, 2018 at

6:10am

John McCain’s actual election rivals may have been George W. Bush back in 2000 and Barack Obama in 2008, but you’d be forgiven for wondering if they were all on the same team after the late senator’s funeral on Saturday.

“The same team” is even how former President Obama described himself and McCain as he addressed the gathered crowd at the senator’s funeral.

The Arizona lawmaker may have been gone, but the figures he approved to speak at the service definitely seemed to be on the same page when it came to using the memorial service as a platform to join forces against the sitting president of the United States.

Nobody mentioned Donald Trump by name, but as Joseph Curl pointed out at The Daily Wire, it was clear that three of the main speakers — Meghan McCain, Barack Obama, and George W. Bush — were of one mind when it came to backhanding the current president.

“We gather here to mourn the passing of American greatness — the real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice he gave so willingly, nor the opportunistic appropriation of those who lived lives of comfort and privilege while he suffered and served,” McCain’s adult daughter Meghan chastised from the podium.

It was a cheap shot directed, without a doubt, at the billionaire Trump.

“The America of John McCain has no need to be made great again because America was always great,” Meghan McCain continued, obviously hammering at Trump’s famous slogan of “Make America Great Again.”

Remember, this was supposed to be a funeral.

Obama joined in when his time came.

“So much of our politics, our public life, our public discourse can seem small and mean and petty, trafficking in bombast and insult and phony controversies and manufactured outrage,” he declared pompously.

“It’s a politics that pretends to be brave and tough but in fact is born in fear. John called on us to be bigger than that. He called on us to be better than that,” stated the former president who beat the deceased in 2008 aided in large part by a media that slandered McCain constantly.

Then George W. Bush, a man who reportedly refused to vote for Trump against Hillary Clinton, took the stage.

“John was above all a man with a code,” Bush stated.

“He led by a set of public virtues that brought strength and purpose to his life and to his country. He was courageous, with a courage that frightened his captors and inspired his countrymen,” Bush said.

“He was honorable, always recognizing that his opponents were still patriots and human beings,” Bush continued, without clarifying what the definition of a patriot was or if every opponent met the criteria.

“He loved freedom with the passion of a man who knew its absence. He respected the dignity inherent in every life, a dignity that does not stop at borders,” Bush continued, likely taking a swipe at Trump’s push for border security.

One Republican president jabbing at another for daring to enforce the nation’s borders, at a funeral. Welcome to 2018.

In response, Trump could have gone on a rant. He could have pushed back against the almost certain efforts to chide him by establishment politicians who have had power for decades — basically, the very people he was elected to counter.

Instead, Trump posted just four words on Twitter on the evening of McCain’s funeral.

It wasn’t a lot. It didn’t have to be.

For Trump opponents, nothing the president said would have mattered.

For Trump supporters, those four words said it all.

Black Pastor Enrages Left, Demolishes Black Lives Matter Movement at Aretha Franklin’s Funeral

Rev. Jasper Williams Jr. was personally chosen by Franklin to speak at her funeral, which took place in Detroit on Friday. During a 50-minute long eulogy, the fiery minister scolded black culture for losing its way and specifically called out the “Black Lives Matter” movement.

Williams was a friend of Franklin’s father and fellow pastor C.L. Franklin. His surprisingly conservative message sent many liberals into a huff, and the media and outlets like Twitter quickly lit up with indignation.

“Where is your soul, black man? As I look in your house, there are no fathers in the home no more,” Williams declared during the ceremony, according to the Associated Press.

Calling out the black community for abandoning family values was one of his major themes, with the connection between fatherless homes and crime at the forefront.

(A)s proud, beautiful and fine as our black women are, one thing a black woman cannot do, a black woman cannot raise a black boy to be a man,” he warned.

The pastor chosen by Franklin pointed out that it took a “provider” father and “nurturer” mother to raise children, particularly boys. That conservative view, of course, flies in the face of “progressive” messaging that promotes single parenthood and rejects traditional gender roles.

Williams was just getting warmed up. As the star-studded audience looked on, he took on another of the left’s sacred cows: Black Lives Matter.

“It amazes me how it is when the police kills one of us we’re ready to protest, march, destroy innocent property,” the African American minister stated.

He pointed out how black-on-black violence in places like Chicago and Detroit has been largely ignored by the very groups it impacts the most.

“We’re ready to loot, steal whatever we want, but when we kill 100 of us, nobody says anything, nobody does anything,” he continued, falling into a heartfelt rhythm.

“Black on black crime, we’re all doing time, we’re locked up in our mind, there’s got to be a better way, we must stop this today,” he declared.

If there was any doubt that he was criticizing the Black Lives Matter movement for failing to take responsibility for African American problems, his next sentences cleared it up.

“No, black lives do not matter,” Williams said. “Black lives will not matter, black lives ought not matter, black lives should not matter, black lives must not matter until black people start respecting black lives and stop killing ourselves.”

Predictably, that message didn’t sit well with liberals.

“Social media critics called his eulogy ‘a disaster’ and questioned why he was chosen as the one to honor Franklin,” reported the AP.

Some social media users quickly called Williams “ignorant” — but he appears to have reality on his side.

“Department of Justice statistics showed that between 1980 and 2008, 52 percent of all homicides were committed by black males, as we previously reported based on publicly available data. Remember, African Americans are only 13 percent of the U.S. population, and black males only about 6 percent.

“With the police shooting of black men taking the center media stage, current statistics show that at current rates it would take 40 years for police to kill as many black men as were killed by other black men in 2012 alone,” our report found.

“The evidence does not support the conclusion that American police are waging a racist war against blacks,” a recent Manhattan Institute report explained. “The Black Lives Matter movement has been a counterproductive distraction from the real violence problem facing black communities: violence from criminals, not the police.”

It’s the same story with Williams’ message about black families. The left may hate it, but the facts back him up. Even Barack Obama has pointed this out.

“More than half of all black children live in single-parent households, a number that has doubled — doubled — since we were children,” Obama said on Father’s Day at a Chicago church in 2008.

“(C)hildren who grow up without a father are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime; nine times more likely to drop out of schools and 20 times more likely to end up in prison.” Again, that was Barack Obama — and stop the presses, he was right.

One of Aretha Frankin’s last wishes was for her family friend and pastor to deliver her eulogy. This message was so important that he put it front and center where key members of the black community could hear it. Maybe we should give that a little respect.

4 Key Points Nobody’s Addressing About Trump’s Federal Pay Decision

President Donald Trump announced he’s not granting the usual 2.1 percent pay hike for federal employees, prompting staunch opposition from many Democratic lawmakers. It’s the latest move by the Trump administration to try to rein in excessive compensation packages for federal employees, after the president signed three executive orders in May.

“Specifically, I have determined that for 2019, both across-the-board pay increases and locality pay increases will be set at zero,” Trump’s letter notifying Congress said Thursday. “These alternative pay plan decisions will not materially affect our ability to attract and retain a well-qualified federal workforce.”

Here’s a look at what the pay freeze could mean.

1. Fiscal Impact

In his letter to Congress Thursday, Trump asserted the pay hikes would not be responsible at this time:

“I view the increases that would otherwise take effect as inappropriate.

“Under current law, locality pay increases averaging 25.70 percent, costing $25 billion, would go into effect in January 2019, in addition to a 2.1 percent across-the-board increase for the base general schedule. We must maintain efforts to put our nation on a fiscally sustainable course, and federal agency budgets cannot sustain such increases.”

However, the impact may be negligible, said Rachel Greszler, a research fellow in economics, budget and entitlements with the Heritage Foundation.

“Basically, it’s not the most efficient reduction in spending or excessive pay, but it’s all the administration can do on their own,” Greszler told The Daily Signal. “And pay increases shouldn’t be automatic.”

2. Current Federal Compensation

In recent years, the Congressional Budget Office and conservative think tanks the Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute all produced reports finding federal compensation packages far outpace the private sector.

Further, the government watchdog group OpenTheBooks.com found that one in five of employees at the 78 largest federal agencies has a salary that is six figures. Another 30,000 rank-and-file career government employees earn more than any governor.

A 2017 CBO report estimated taxpayers compensate federal workers with 17 percent more than what similar employees – with comparable education, skills and experience – earn in the private sector.

The Office of Management and Budget during the Obama administration estimated the federal government would spend $337 billion in 2017 on the civilian federal workforce.

Also, with seniority comes at least two pay hikes for some years under the current system. All federal employees generally get a cost-of-living adjustment that is not based on performance. Second, federal employees are paid for each “step increase” they move up in the system based on seniority, which provides a 3 percent hike.

Federal employees get a retirement contribution of between 15 and 18 percent of their pay, while private sector employees average 3 to 5 percent, according to a 2016 Heritage Foundation study. Federal employees also contribute significantly less to their retirement, as taxpayers fund the bulk of the pensions.

3. Performance Pay

Greszler co-authored a 2016 Heritage Foundation study that estimated a performance-based system would reduce federal personnel costs by $26.7 billion.

In his letter to Congress on Thursday, Trump made what seemed to be a long-term point.

“In light of our nation’s fiscal situation, federal employee pay must be performance-based, and aligned strategically toward recruiting, retaining, and rewarding high-performing federal employees and those with critical skill sets,” Trump said. “Across-the-board pay increases and locality pay increases, in particular, have long-term fixed costs, yet fail to address existing pay disparities or target mission critical recruitment and retention goals.”

Simply holding off on raises won’t accomplish anything without broader civil service reform, said Robert Moffit, senior fellow in domestic policy studies at the Heritage Foundation.

“The federal pay system does not effectively reward the most talented and productive because the system is highly standardized,” Moffit told The Daily Signal. “Federal employees in many cases should be paid more and many should be paid less. We need more employees in some areas and less in others.”

4. What Trump Has Done So Far

In keeping with the president’s “drain the swamp” reform efforts, the Trump administration has pushed for civil service reforms in budget proposals to Congress with little action.

However, Congress did pass and the president signed a law to make it easier to fire bad employees at the Department of Veterans Affairs following the VA waiting list scandal in which employees had doctored lists, leaving some veterans to wait excessively long times for care.

Congress has left most of the rest of the federal bureaucracy untouched. However, on May 25, Trump issued an executive order to move the ball on civil service reform.

One order holds nonproductive workers more accountable by speeding up the disciplinary and appeals process. In many cases, it takes more than a year to remove an employee. The order also limits the grace period to shore up their performance from 120 days to 30 days. The order also limits the ability of federal managers from simply moving employees that engaged in poor performance or illegal activity from one agency to another.

Federal agencies would share performance reviews, and also consider performance in making layoff decisions. Previously, layoffs were based on the amount of time employed by an agency.

A separate executive order limits the amount of time a federal employees can spend on union activity during work hours to no more than one-quarter of their workday. The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee found more than 12,500 federal workers took “official time” to work on union activities in 2017. Of them, 470 worked in the VA.

Fox Host Blows Whistle on Who Was Sitting 3 Seats from Clinton at Aretha’s Funeral

After Friday’s celebration of singer Aretha Franklin’s life — a celebration that preached the themes of joy and unity — Fox News host Martha MacCallum put her finger on one prominent aberration.

Seated with prominent dignitaries, in fact seated just three seats away from former President Bill Clinton, was Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who has made no secret of his hatred of Jews, gays and whites, TheBlaze reported.

“There were some beautiful performances today at Aretha Franklin’s funeral in Detroit. The guests ranging from world leaders to musical legends and one especially controversial figure seated in the front row. Many people kind of wondering what the unapologetic anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan was doing up there,” MacCallum said Friday.

“He, you know, has said awful things about Jewish people, about white people, about gay people and I thought it was never the message that I heard in Aretha Franklin’s music,” MacCallum said.

MacCallum said that despite inspiring musical performances at Franklin’s funeral, she was “distracted by Louis Farrakhan who was in every single shot.”

“I’m thinking, ‘What was he doing there?’” MacCallum said.

https://www.mrctv.org/embed/532694

“Why was (Farrakhan) so front and center?” MacCallum asked. “It’s something that’s supposed to be about Aretha Franklin became, I thought, in many ways about some of these gentlemen who were right behind.”

Kylie Patterson of the New Leaders Council told MacCallum that Franklin and Farrakhan both worked for liberation of black Americans.

“We forget that she was really at the head of the liberation movement for years,” Patterson said.

“This is her funeral. I mean, it’s her choice- who she wants there, how she wants people sitting.”

In a separate broadcast, Fox News’ Pete Pete Hegseth suggested that under different circumstances, the presence of an extremist would have become a major story.

“I just think it’s such a double standard. Imagine if the inverse were to be true and there were a white national racist there, the media would blow it up,” he said, according to Newsbusters.

Some media organizations dealt with Farrakhan’s presence by omitting him in photos of the funeral.

Deadline noted that Franklin and Farrakhan went way back, citing a statement from Farrakhan.

“In 1972, when I was minister in New York City, Temple No 7, the police attacked our mosque. Within a few hours, Aretha Franklin came to the mosque, to my office, and said that she saw the news and came as quickly as she could to stand with us and offer us her support,” Farrakhan wrote in the Aug. 21 edition of The Final Call, a publication of the Nation of Islam.

“She asked me if Rev Jesse Jackson had been there to show support. I said, not yet. She said, he’ll be here within 48 hours. Rev Jackson came and stood with the Muslims.”

A Very Important Email I Received Today. A VERY BIG REASON FOR CELEBRATION

But, first, Please read the forwarded email that I received from Pastor Jim Domen of Church United. Assembly Bill 2943 was WITHDRAWN by it’s author, Assemblyman Evan Low, from being sent on to the govenor for signature. Mr. Low is reconsidering the merits of his bill in light of the impact of the faith community and it’s leaders throughout the state. THIS IS A VICTORY FOR GOD AND HIS CHURCH as we seek to PRAY, PARTICIPATE, and PENETRATE our culture and civic society with the truth of the gospel!! As you read Mr. Low’s statement, please pray for him and his colleagues as they wrestle with their consciences and the Spirit of God. “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 (NIV).

Dear Pastor Jim,

Assemblyman Evan Low (D-Campbell) decided not to send his bill AB 2943 to the Assembly. His statement is below:”Authoring Assembly Bill 2943 is one of the most personal decisions I have made since taking office. As an elected official, I made decisions that discriminated against my very existence in order to support the broader community I represented. I officiated at weddings but, at the time, I could not legally have one of my own. I hosted blood drives but I was prohibited from participating due to the FDA’s discriminatory ban on gay blood donors. I hosted Boy Scouts earning merit badges but as a child I was never able to earn my own.

As a young person I often found myself confused about my sexual orientation. It was hard to find any mainstream media surrounding the feelings I was having. Gay men were not depicted in movies or TV that I was exposed to. I hid myself and my feelings because I was afraid of what others would think of me. This left me feeling very lost, scared, alone, and even suicidal. I wondered if I could change. Coming out was not an easy experience. Yet, I am grateful my community embraced me as I was, a gay man. Many fellow members of the LGBT community are not as fortunate and do not have the support I did and have been subjected to the harmful and fraudulent practice of conversion therapy.

I authored Assembly Bill 2943 to ensure a remedy for those who are deceived by this deceptive practice. As the bipartisan bill progressed through the Legislature this year, opposition began to speak out against the legislation. I knew this was an emotionally charged issue, so I spent the past few months traveling up and down the state meeting with a wide variety of faith leaders.

I was heartened by the conversations. A number of religious leaders denounced conversion therapy and recognized how harmful the practice is while acknowledging it has been discredited by the medical and psychological communities. I left those productive conversations feeling hopeful. I believe every person who attended these meetings left with a greater understanding for the underlying reason and intention of this bill to create a loving and inclusive environment for all. However, I believe there is still more to learn.

The best policy is not made in a vacuum and in order to advance the strongest piece of legislation, the bill requires additional time to allow for an inclusive process not hampered by legislative deadlines. With a hopeful eye toward the future, I share with you that, despite the support the bill received in the Assembly and Senate, I will not be sending AB 2943 to the Governor this year. I am committed to continuing to work towards creating a policy that best protects and celebrates the identities of LGBT Californians and a model for the nation to look towards.”

Assemblyman Low, the Church in California knows and feels your pain. We are grateful for your decision not to continue with AB 2943. Please know as we represent Jesus Christ, His heart and blood was given for you, me and every person in this world – past, present and future.

One of the Formers changed by His grace and truth,

Jim

Leftism as a Secular Religion

“Leftists have contempt for anyone who is guided by the Bible and its God, and substitute the heart and feelings for divine instruction,” writes Dennis Prager. (Photo: ~Userc0373230_9/Getty Images)

One of the most important books of the 20th century—it remains a best-seller 59 years after it was first published—is “Man’s Search for Meaning” by Viktor Frankl.

Marx saw man’s primary drive as economic, and Freud saw it as sex. But Frankl believed—correctly, in my opinion—that the greatest drive of man is meaning. One can be poor and chaste and still be happy. But one cannot be bereft of meaning and be happy—no matter how rich or how sexually fulfilled one may be.

The greatest provider of meaning for the vast majority of human beings has been religion. In the West, Christianity (and on a smaller scale, Judaism) provided nearly all people with the Bible, a divine or divinely inspired text to guide their lives; a religious community; answers to life’s fundamental questions; and, above all, meaning: A good God governs the universe; death does not end everything; and human beings were purposefully created.

In addition, Christianity gave Christians a project: Spread the Good News, and bring the world to Christ. And Judaism gave Jews a project: Live by God’s laws of ethics and holiness and be “a light unto the nations.”

All this has disappeared for most Westerners. The Bible is regarded as myth, silly at best, malicious at worst—there is no God, certainly not the morality-giving and judging God of the Bible; there is no afterlife; human beings are a purposeless coincidence with no more intrinsic purpose than anything else in the universe. In short: This is all there is.

So, if the need for meaning is the greatest of all human needs and that which supplied meaning no longer does, what are millions of Westerners supposed to do?

The answer is obvious: Find meaning elsewhere. But where? Church won’t provide it. Nor will marriage and family—increasingly, secular individuals in the West eschew marriage, and even more do not have children. It turns out, to the surprise of many, that marriage and children are religious values, not human instincts.

In the West today, love and marriage (and children) go together like a horse and a carriage for faithful Catholics, Orthodox Jews, religious Mormons, and evangelical Protestants—not for the secular. I know many religious families with more than four children; I do not know one secular family with more than four children (and the odds are you don’t either).

The answer to the great dearth of meaning left by the death of biblical religion in the West is secular religion. The first two great secular substitutes were communism and Nazism. The first provided hundreds of millions of people with meaning; the latter provided most Germans and Austrians with meaning.

In particular, both ideologies provided the intellectual class with meaning. No groups believed in communism and Nazism more than intellectuals. Like everyone else, secular intellectuals need meaning, and when this need was combined with intellectuals’ love of ideas (especially new ideas—”new” is almost erotic in the power of its appeal to secular intellectuals), communism and Nazism became potent ideologies.

With the fall of communism and the awareness of the extent of the communist mass murder (about 100 million noncombatants) and mass enslavement (virtually all individuals in communist countries—except for Communist Party leaders—are essentially enslaved), communism, or at least the word “communism,” fell into disrepute.

So, what were secular intellectuals to do once communism became “the god that failed”?

The answer was to create another left-wing secular religion. And that is what leftism is: a secular meaning-giver to supplant Christianity. Left-wing religious expressions include Marxism, communism, socialism, feminism, and environmentalism.

Leftism’s guiding principles—notwithstanding the principles of those Christians and Jews who claim to be religious yet hold leftist views—are the antitheses of Judaism and Christianity’s guiding principles.

Judaism and Christianity hold that people are not basically good. Leftism holds that people are basically good. Therefore, Judaism and Christianity believe evil comes from human nature, and leftism believes evil comes from capitalism, religion, the nation-state (i.e. nationalism), corporations, the patriarchy, and virtually every other traditional value.

Judaism and Christianity hold that utopia on Earth is impossible—it will only come in God’s good time as a Messianic age or in the afterlife. Leftism holds that utopia is to be created here on Earth—and as soon as possible. That is why leftists find America so contemptible. They do not compare it to other nations but to a utopian ideal—a society with no inequality, no racism, no differences between the sexes (indeed, no sexes), and no greed in which everything important is obtained free.

Judaism and Christianity believe God and the Bible are to instruct us on how to live a good life and how the heart is the last place to look for moral guidance. Leftists have contempt for anyone who is guided by the Bible and its God, and substitute the heart and feelings for divine instruction.

There may be a clash of civilizations between the West and Islam, but the biggest clash of civilizations is between the West and the left.

Root: Trump Just Got Mexico To Pay for the Wall and They Didn’t Even Notice

Reported By Kara Pendleton | August 30, 2018 at

5:26pm

Are you tired of winning yet? Its a common refrain seen on social media every time President Donald Trump keeps a campaign promise. But critics have plagued him with skepticism about being able to keep one of his biggest promises: building the southern border wall, and at Mexico’s expense.

But now it seems said critics may have to eat crow. According to conservative radio talk show host Wayne Allyn Root, Trump just kept that very promise and America is winning, yet again.

“That was all before President Trump announced a United States-Mexico trade agreement. Because Trump talked tough and never gave in, US workers will benefit,” he wrote. “US carmakers will benefit. US manufacturers will benefit. US taxpayers will benefit. Trump did it. He won. We all won.”

“Trump announced he will terminate NAFTA,” he continued. “While we don’t know all the details yet, I guarantee this new trade deal will save us tens of billions, perhaps hundreds of billions of dollars over the next decade.”

“Since the wall with Mexico costs about $25 billion, Trump just forced Mexico (whether they know it, or not) to pay for the wall. Once again, Trump accomplished what establishment politicians of both parties said could never be done.”

According to The Hill, during a “meeting with FIFA and U.S. Soccer officials about the 2026 men’s World Cup,” Trump was asked about the border wall. Trump’s response was that “the wall will be paid for very easily by Mexico. It will ultimately be paid for by Mexico.”

Following this statement, the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs Luis Videgaray Caso took to Twitter to express, again, that Mexico will not pay for the wall.

This, however, does not take into consideration the explanation Root outlined for how they actually will, knowingly or not, pay for the wall, via the trade deal.

The establishment media has been rife headlines proclaiming that, “No, Mexico won’t pay for the wall, no matter what Trump says” rhetoric.

Even on social media, his critics are disputing his claim. But, as with Caso, none have looked at the simple math of the deal the way Root did. Interestingly, on Twitter, Trump has not yet been taking a victory lap regarding the wall. He’s been hit hard for months about the wall promise but his tweets focused on other benefits of the trade deal with Mexico.

He began with high praise for all involved in making the deal happen:

He has also discussed how the deal will benefit our economy. Farmers and jobs have been big topics for Trump, even before this deal:

Root pointed out that Trump is taking a page from Rush Limbaugh’s book with a “Don’t doubt me” standard.

He wrote: “(W)ith Donald J. Trump there are no such words as ‘never’ or ‘impossible.’ Trump has chutzpah. Trump has cajones. Trump aims for the moon. Trump is combative and aggressive. Trump is driven to do what others say cannot be done. Trump is an eternal optimist. He accepts nothing less #WINNING.”

It is this, perhaps, that plays a big role in Trump’s popularity with his supporters and one-time doubters, alike. Not only has he been keeping his promises, but he tirelessly fights the good fight for America, regardless of what his critics say.

China Hacked Hillary’s Server, Got Her Emails

URL of the original posting site: http://www.con-alerts.com/china-hacked-hillarys-server-got-her-emails/

National security moves made by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Obama administration came as no surprise to China. We’re now learning that a Chinese state-owned company – aka the Chinese government – hacked Clinton’s email server and then inserted code to forward themselves a “courtesy copy” of every email she sent or received after that. Insanely enough, the code was discovered in 2015 by the Intelligence Community Inspector General who then warned the FBI officials – and agent Peter Strzok – but the FBI says it found no such compromise and the ICIG has declined to comment. There was no follow up. Any guesses why the FBI found no evidence of the hack just before the presidential election heated up?

Here’s more from Fox News…

A Chinese state-owned company reportedly hacked former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email server, then inserted code that forwarded them a copy of virtually every email she sent or received after that — a revelation President Trump is demanding be investigated.

The Daily Caller reported that the firm operating in the D.C. area wrote code that was then embedded in the server and generated a “courtesy copy” for almost all her emails — which was then forwarded to the Chinese company.

The code reportedly was discovered in 2015 by the Intelligence Community Inspector General (ICIG), which then warned FBI officials of the intrusion.

A source briefed on the matter confirmed to Fox News the details of the Caller’s reporting, and said that the ICIG was so concerned by the revelation that officials drove over to the FBI to inform agents — including anti-Trump agent Peter Strzok — of the development after it was discovered via the emails’ metadata.

The source told Fox News the hack was from a Chinese company, describing it as a front for Chinese intelligence.

Outrage: Strzok Was Notified of Chinese Accessing Hillary’s Server, Did Nothing

Reported By Joe Saunders | August 29, 2018 at

11:34am

This name is getting a little too familiar – and Americans should be getting very angry. Amid the blockbuster report by The Daily Caller that a Chinese firm had penetrated Hillary Clinton’s private email server “throughout” her time as secretary of state, one FBI figure is mentioned prominently.

And it’s the same agent who’s appeared at almost every sordid turn in the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s handling of the Clinton email investigation and the  trumped up “collusion” case against President Donald Trump – the now-fired FBI Agent Peter Strzok.

According to The Daily Caller, Strzok, who was a one of the FBI’s top counterintelligence agents,  was briefed by investigators with the Intelligence Community Department of Inspector General (ICIG) about the possibility that Clinton’s email server had been compromised by a foreign intelligence service.

The meeting took place sometime after the ICIG had discovered an “anomaly” on Clinton’s server that indicated information that was placed on it was being surreptitiously copied by another entity. That discovery was made “pretty early in 2015,” The Daily Caller reported.

The Daily Caller quoted a former intelligence official explaining the problem:

“When [the ICIG] did a very deep dive, they found in the actual metadata — the data which is at the header and footer of all the emails — that a copy, a ‘courtesy copy,’ was being sent to a third party and that third party was a known Chinese public company that was involved in collecting intelligence for China.”

That’s pretty serious stuff, considering Clinton was secretary of state – the top diplomat in the United States government. If emails she was writing were being copied – in real time – to a hostile foreign power like China, Americans would expect the FBI to take some sort of notice.

But Peter Strzok, under questioning by Rep. Louis Gohmert in July, said he didn’t even remember the conversation. In response to Gohmert, a Texas Republican, Strzok acknowledged speaking the ICIG investigator Frank Rucker but, unbelievably, said he didn’t remember what they’d talked about.

(Watch the CSPAN clip of the exchange here. Strzok’s smirk is as infuriating as his statements are, literally, incredible.)

“I remember meeting Mr. Rucker on either one or two occasions,” Strzok said. “I do not recall the specific content or discussions.”

If the “content” of the conversation was China spying on Hillary Clinton, that’s simply not possible.

In an editorial published Tuesday, the Investors Business Daily summed it up nicely:

“It seems unlikely that the FBI’s top counterintelligence official — who was leading the investigation into Clinton’s emails — wouldn’t remember being told that the Chinese had unfettered access to those emails while she was secretary of State.

“So, either Strzok is lying or the ICIG officials are. Our money is on Strzok.”

That’s as safe a bet as anyone ever made.

There are many, many figures in the Clinton email scandal that have disgraced themselves – not least the former secretary of state herself, President Barack Obama, who appointed her, and the political party and mainstream media that tried to make this woman the president of the United States.

But for sheer nuts-and-bolts deception, the FBI “counterintelligence agent” who clearly turned a blind eye to information that his favored candidate had been compromised by an intelligence operation from China, then had the effrontery to tell a United States congressman that he couldn’t remember the conversation is in a class by himself.

That isn’t just negligence, and it isn’t just a partisan passion to use the powers of the FBI to swing the outcome of a presidential election. It amounts to Strzok being a traitor to his duty to the bureau, and the Americans it’s supposed to serve.

Democrat voters outside Washington – infected by a bizarre mix of blind range at their loss in 2016 and what can only be described as staggering stupidity – could be forgiven for supporting obviously demented nutcases like Maxine Waters or doddering statists like Nancy Pelosi.

But now, just in time for the midterm elections, they’re being faced with evidence that not only did the Democrat Party’s 2016 presidential nominee put national security at risk for the entire time she was secretary of state, but minions in the FBI like the increasingly loathsome Peter Strzok have been helping her conceal it for their own ends.

Strzok worked directly for FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. McCabe worked directly for former FBI Director James Comey. And it was James Comey who reacted to his own firing by President Donald Trump by leaking information that led directly to the hiring of Robert Mueller as special counsel investigating Trump campaign’s alleged collusion with Russia.

Those connections aren’t hard to make. Maybe someone in the Justice Department or the mainstream media might be able to connect the dots at some point and the country can realize what a bill of goods it’s been sold with the “Russian collusion” story.

Most Americans busy living their own productive lives might have thought the name “Strzok” was fading into the background by now. But it’s just getting familiar again – and it’s getting beyond infuriating.

School Gets Equipped With ‘Social Justice’ Manuals That High-5’s Islam, Black Panthers & Che Guevara

Reported By Wes Walker |

Here’s another taste of the ‘fundamental change’ President what’s-his-name had promised. Where are all those ‘Separation of Church and State’ radicals now? In Portland — of course it would be Portland — there is a new teacher’s handbook. It’s chock-full of inspiring quotes, and important dates like holidays (Except Thanksgiving. That’s now called ‘National Day of Mourning’), anniversaries of protests, and quotes from such wonderful and inspiring people as Che Guevara or founders of the Black Panthers?

Objection to the ideas or indoctrination of ’See You at The Pole’ events are so yesterday. Now they WANT indoctrination and activism. It just has to be the ‘right kind’ of indoctrination. So long as the thing they’re being indoctrinated by is not aligned with traditional Western values or culture, it is A-OK to this crowd.

… you know anything they do that breaks news is going to be a real gong show, right? Buckle up.

They published a “plan book for social justice teachers”. Because the most important thing for kids to learn is NOT math, science, or a solid grasp of language skills. The most important thing is raising up a generation of rabid activists.

Here is how the book was introduced on another activist site, the Education for Liberation Network:

Planning to Change the World—an annual lesson plan book for social justice teachers that features birthdays and anniversaries from the history of the struggle for justice, references to resources to teach about those dates, inspirational quotes, essential questions and much more.

They were the organization who produced the book and described themselves this way.

Picking one city at random — Baltimore — how well are the students doing, that teachers think they can divert attention from more traditional studies?

In fourth- and eighth-grade reading, only 13 percent of city students are considered proficient or advanced. In fourth-grade math, 14 percent were proficient and in eighth-grade math 11 percent met the mark, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, a federally mandated test from the U.S. Department of Education. — Baltimore Sun, April 10, 2018

Here’s the objective of the program:

Can the content REALLY be that bad?

It tells you that Wednesday August 1 is the birthday of the founder of PETA, that the British slaughtered people in India on April 13, when Islam’s Eid formally begins (sunset on 8/20), the 60th anniversary of the closure of Little Rock schools, the 30th Anniversary of the CANADIAN apology for their Japanese Internment. And, naturally, the celebrate the 30th anniversary of Palestine declaring independence. (November 15) They forgot to mention the Charter of Hamas pledging the annihilation of the Jews, or that they have affirmed this goal has not changed.

It’s almost like they’re conditioning people to be perpetually angry and aggrieved. Because life never goes badly for people with a perpetual chip on their shoulder, right?

Are there some of the inspiring quotes by someone like FDR, Helen Keller, Frederick Douglas or Henry David Thoreau to inspire students to strive for greatness? Not exactly. They’re working from a different list of inspirational figures.

Yikes.

Who else are they celebrating?

Noam Chomsky… Black Panthers founders… trans activists… and this guy, who is justifying turning schools into indoctrination camps:

Is this the kind of ‘education’ that will give graduating students a level playing field, and an even shot at getting into good careers? Or are they more interested in churning out protesters and aggrieved activists?

Hat tip to GP, who seem to be the first ones to spot this story and make it public.

Lindsey Graham Reveals Powerful Message Trump Gave Him After McCain Eulogy

Reported By Randy DeSoto | August 29, 2018 at

12:39pm

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., revealed on Wednesday that President Donald Trump called him after the senator’s tearful tribute speech to the late Sen. John McCain, telling him, “you did right by your friend.”

During an appearance on CNN, anchor Dana Bash asked Graham how he can square his friendship with McCain to being willing to “carry the water” for Trump.

“It’s pretty simple, if you knew anything about me. I want to be relevant,” Graham responded. “I want to make sure this president, Donald Trump, who I didn’t vote for and ran against, is successful.”

He added, “I regret the relationship between the two. John is my dearest friend in the world, and I am going to try to help President Trump, and I will. I think ‘Country First’ means that.”

The South Carolinian went on to say that when Trump speaks poorly of McCain, “it pisses me off.”

“He called yesterday after my speech, and he couldn’t have been nicer,” Graham recounted. “He said, ‘That was very sad. I just want to let you know you did right by your friend.’”

“To those who say the only way you can honor John McCain is to fight Donald Trump and try to kick him out of office, I don’t agree,” the senator said.

Graham and Bash talked about Graham’s emotional tribute from the Senate floor during which he said, “It is going to be a lonely journey for me for a while. I am going to need your help, and the void to be filled by John’s passing is more than I can fill.”

“What hit me was the desk,” he recalled to Bash. “Funerals are for a reason. They’re for the living.”

“They give us a chance to remember what we’ve lost and how we can cope with it. It hit me really hard when I saw the cloth on the desk, because I’ve sat next to that desk by him for years talking about everything under the sun, and that will be an empty desk. My life has changed like everybody who knew John.”

Graham told NBC’s “Today” on Tuesday that Trump had gotten to the right place in terms of honoring McCain’s service to the country while acknowledging the two men often didn’t see eye-to-eye.

“John Kelly, (the White House) chief of staff has been terrific,” the lawmaker said. “The president told Gen. Kelly whatever they need, they get,” referring to the McCain family.

CNN reported that besides his Senate tribute speech, Graham will read a scripture at McCain’s memorial service at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., on Saturday and speak at his burial service on Sunday at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

MLK’s ‘Dream’ Speech Is Coming True, His Niece Says

“So the opportunity [is increasing] to let people come into a place of dignity and equality in America, not based on skin color, not based on sexuality,” Alveda King says of the 55th anniversary of her uncle’s “I Have a Dream” speech at the Lincoln Memorial. (Photo: Brian Frank/Reuters/Newscom)

Martin Luther King Jr.’s niece says her uncle’s vision in his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech is being brought to fruition today.

“Are we living in a perfect society today? No, but the dream is being realized 55 years later,” pro-life activist Alveda King told The Daily Signal in an interview Monday ahead of the 55th anniversary Tuesday of King’s famous speech.

King, who directs the Civil Rights for the Unborn program for the organization Priests for Life, said of her uncle’s oratory:

He said ‘Let freedom ring’ and he named all of the different places, including the hamlets, the townships, and he says ‘from the hilltops’ [and] I think of Stone Mountain … in Georgia.

This year, 55 years later, I was at Stone Mountain for a OneRace rally that was led by millennials, and so prophetically, many of the things that Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed 55 years ago are being revisited today.

MLK delivered the speech during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on Aug. 28, 1963, about five years before his assassination in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1968. It was prophetic, Alveda King said, because her uncle’s vision for a more unified and equal America has been coming true.

“President Trump himself has said we all believe the same,” King, 67, said, adding:

I voted for President Trump … for many reasons, but one of the reasons was that when he was asked about race … his answer—and this was as a candidate, but he has echoed it and said it over and over and repeated it—he says, ‘We all believe the same, [it] doesn’t matter what color our skin is … everybody … wants somewhere safe to live, food to eat, opportunity to work and produce, opportunity to enjoy their families.’

King noted that her uncle’s speech, which he made on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, asserted that “America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked ‘insufficient funds.’”

She said she is encouraged by how today’s economic environment—with black and Hispanic unemployment at historic lows—is correcting that insufficiency.

“The unemployment rates are lower, the employment rates are higher in the job market,” she said. “We have 6.5 million jobs at least, here in America. The technical, the skilled positions where there are not enough people who are … trained with those skills to step into those jobs.”

The country still has room to improve, King told The Daily Signal, and one opportunity is through the Trump administration’s work to advance prison reform:

We are looking at … prison reform and we are beginning to see that we need jubilee to let those prisoners out and to put them back into society and perhaps into some of those jobs with the proper skills, those who did not commit violent crimes.

The time is ripe, she said, for America to embrace the values that her uncle fought and prayed for.

“So the opportunity [is increasing] to let people come into a place of dignity and equality in America, not based on skin color, not based on sexuality, but the fact that, as human beings, we were created and desired with a genuine purpose. And that’s by God, and so our mantra, our motto [is] one nation under God, in God we trust,” King said.

Source: ‘Hell List’ Circulating DC, Dem’s Plans To Cause Chaos in Nation

Reported By Lisa Payne-Naeger | August 27, 2018 at

11:07am

Democrats with an eye on winning the midterm elections are already planning a multi-pronged assault aimed at taking down the Trump administration with a strategy of offensive techniques that seek to create chaos. Democrats likely believe going on the offensive by creating so many crises they will destabilize the Trump administration. And with the aim of returning Washington to the arrogant mess it was during the Barack Obama presidency, they are loaded for bear.

According to Axios, Republicans on Capitol Hill are preparing for a pitched battle with Democrats if the current opposition party wins the majority in November and implements a a laundry list of crises they’re just waiting to dump on Republicans, turning “the Trump White House into a 24/7 legal defense operation.”

“Axios has obtained a spreadsheet that’s circulated through Republican circles on and off Capitol Hill — including at least one leadership office — that meticulously previews the investigations Democrats will likely launch if they flip the House,” the website reported.

That list includes:

  • “President Trump’s tax returns; Trump family businesses — and whether they comply with the Constitution’s emoluments clause, including the Chinese trademark grant to the Trump Organization; Trump’s dealings with Russia, including the president’s preparation for his meeting with Vladimir Putin; The payment to Stephanie Clifford — a.k.a. Stormy Daniels;
  • “James Comey’s firing; Trump’s firing of U.S. attorneys; Trump’s proposed transgender ban for the military; Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin’s business dealings; White House staff’s personal email use; Cabinet secretary travel, office expenses, and other misused perks;
  • “Discussion of classified information at Mar-a-Lago; Jared Kushner’s ethics law compliance; Dismissal of members of the EPA board of scientific counselors; The “travel ban”; Family separation policy; Hurricane response in Puerto Rico; Election security and hacking attempts; White House security clearances.”
  • The list also includes more than 100 formal requests for members of the administration to go before committee staff in hearings to obtain sworn testimony, to seize communication relating to policies and personnel decisions deemed controversial, as well as threats of subpoenas.

As these requests span nearly every committee, the result would be a near gridlock of the Trump administration and would be considered a great threat to the Trump presidency. Many of the items on the current list are already floating around Capitol Hill, but Republicans have blocked requests for investigation. The fear is if Democrats take control of the House, the GOP will lose the power to control and block investigative calls in the future. And if special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation looks bad now, it might look like nothing compared to what a Democrat majority could do in the House.

The Hill reports: “Republican lawmakers have sought to downplay Democrats’ chances of taking the House in the upcoming elections, claiming reports of a ‘blue wave’ are overblown.”

However, Axios also reports that unnamed lawyers “close to the White House” have said the administration isn’t fully prepared for the Democrat offensive that’s going to break if the midterms hand control of the House or Senate — or both — to Democrats. Clearly, the list of chaos provides ample grounds for Republicans to worry.

The idea of the Trump administration being mired in an even more aggressive swamp in its second two years as it was in the first does not bode well for an agenda aimed at continuing the economic boom fostered by Trump’s deregulation strategies or rebalancing American trade relations with its international partners.

Perhaps they wouldn’t have to worry quite so much if they had their own “Hell List” of inquiry on matters such as the Hillary email investigation, Strzok-Page texts, possible perjury by James Comey and more. What has come out so far should have Republicans in Congress on the warpath, but virtually nothing is changing.

The American people might possibly elect, in a landslide, a party they thought was really serious about draining that Washington swamp.

Sadly, this is NOT a Joke!

You all need to know that the CA Legislative Year Closed on Friday.  All the Representatives went home exhausted and the damage was done.
So, what did they accomplish during this high-pressure year in Sacramento?

This is an update today on the progressive Democrats’ continued destruction of California.  The ones who would not endorse Dianne Feinstein, because she is not sufficiently Socialist extreme.
By the way, we are already deemed the worst state for businesses.
Here are some of the highlights of this session:
  • Passed Cap-n-Trade Tax which will increase gas 0.63 to 0.93 cents a gallon change and the taxes that go with it. So do the math projection … (0.12 + 0.63 = 075/gallon + current $3.10/gallon = $3.85/gallon).
  • Proposed increase on a new tax.  Every residence will pay for tap water!
  • A $3.46B parks bond to pay for parks in “disadvantaged communities”.  The debt service alone will be over $200 million a year. The good news is some money goes to help fix the Salton Sea which should have always been a State responsibility!
  • Law to release any lifer (murder, rape, child molestation, etc.) who is 60 years old and has already spent 25 years in prison! Charles Manson would have qualified if he just waited a few months before dying; and the Melendez brothers, who murdered their parents could be released in about 12 years? Victims?  What victims?
  • A new $50 charge on all residents living in a mobile home parks to address “living condition enforcement” in those parks? What the hell does that mean?  As if having to live in a mobile home park isn’t bad enough? Regressive tax on the poor?
  • We picked an official dinosaur for the State of California!  Really?
  • Requires Tesla to either unionize with the United Auto Workers Union, or forfeit State incentives to buy their electric cars! Maybe political blackmail doesn’t count as breaking any law.  Unions are loving it. “Watch out solar companies.  They may be coming after you next!”  Hang tight Elon!
  • Reduce from a felony to a misdemeanor the purposeful intent to transmit the AIDS virus to an unknowing partner.
  • Give preferential treatment to prisoners convicted of serious crimes, who are less than 25 years old. Why? Because their brains are not mature enough to understand right from wrong. Whaaat?
  • A bill to require our true sex be omitted from driver’s licenses? Whaaat?
  • Free legal services for illegal immigrants.  Of course!
  • Establish safe “injection zones” … run by a new government bureaucracy … to oversee people injecting heroin!

Yep, it all passed!

You may consider sharing this so that ALL Californians can be proud of our elected officials.

PLEASE. NO PUSHING AND SHOVING AS YOU FLEE THE STATE!!!!!. Let’s start the state break-up process NOW!
