Walmart’s woke Walton family funneling millions into LGBT activist causes, drag shows for kids, and DEI programs

Inheritors of Walmart founder Sam Walton’s fortune have poured millions of dollars into LGBT activist organizations in Arkansas, helping to bankroll a number of propaganda events ranging from drag shows and story hours for kids to so-called “education” programs for sexually-confused youths.

In a recent report, Heritage Foundation research associate Gillian Richards scrutinized some of the causes that second- and third-generation beneficiaries of the Walmart patriarch’s wealth have patronized.

In June 2021, the Alice W. Walton Foundation and Olivia and Tom Walton, through the Walton Family Foundation, launched the Arkansas LGBTQ+ Advancement Fund.

Heather Larkin, president of the Arkansas Community Foundation, stated that this $1 million fund, which in turn confers grants of up to $150,000 to “LGBTQ-serving” nonprofits throughout the state, helps ensure that activist groups can “expand their impact on communities and help Arkansans pull together to build a more welcoming and supportive environment for us all.”

Richards noted that the Equality Crew is one beneficiary of the Waltons’ advancement fund.

Don’t miss out on content from Dave Rubin free of big tech censorship. Listen to The Rubin Report now.

This particular group established Arkansas’ confidential “Affirming Teacher and School Staff Database” ahead of the 2021-22 school year so that confused children could connect with teachers who would “affirm” their amorphous adolescent and teen sexual identities.

According to Richards, the Equality Crew hosted an event at the Walton Arts Center, which had a segment titled “Kids Zone,” featuring a “drag story time for younger children.” In another segment, titled “Teen Zone,” grade school students were treated to a “DJ, local band, and TWO drag shows.”

In another Equality Crew event that was set to take place at a public library, youth were invited to get “clothing from The Transition Closet” and to take part in a “teens-only dance party.”

The Transition Closet happens to be another Walton-funded nonprofit that provides “gender-affirming clothing and accessories for transgender and non-binary Arkansans.”

According to the organizers, the Equality Crew event was ultimately cancelled due to an “increasing number of violent and disruptive attacks on parents, children, and organizers seeking to serve members of the LGBTQ+ community.”

Richards reported that the Walton Family Foundation and the Walmart Foundation are both also leading sponsors of Northwest Arkansas Equality, an activist nonprofit based in Fayetteville.

According to the group’s website, “Northwest Arkansas Equality’s mission is to provide programs, education, and advocacy to serve, connect, and empower the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community.

The NAE puts on various drag events.

The NAE proudly claims to have targeted kids with a number of its events, including drag brunches and “children’s storytimes.” Some of the group’s events featured so-called celebrities like drag queens Brian Michael Firkus (“Trixie Mattel”), Darius Jeremy Pierce (“Shangela”), and Ryan Taylor (“Trinity Taylor”).

The Walmart Foundation has been giving the NAE money since at least 2007 and has been filling the group’s coffers with the help of the Waltons as recently as 2020.

In addition to bankrolling LGBT groups, the Waltons have involved themselves directly in political battles regarding the advancement of the transgender agenda in Arkansas.

In 2021, Alice Walton, Tom Walton, and the Walton Family Foundation fought Arkansas’ “Save Adolescents From Experimentation Act” and failed. The proposed legislation passed despite a veto from Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson.

The act, now law, bans doctors from medically mutilating children and teens for the purposes of so-called “gender transition.”

The Capital Research Center, an American conservative nonprofit focused on charity and philanthropy, previously detailed Walmart’s long slide into woke philanthropy.

Sam Walton wrote “that Wal-Mart really is not, and should not be, in the charity business,” not the least because it would amount to the company being charitable with other people’s money, particularly “shareholders or our customers.”

Nevertheless, the Walmart Foundation, created by Walton in 1982, reportedly tripled its expenditures on philanthropic donations between 1999 and 2005.

While the foundation largely gave to right-leaning think tanks in the early 2000s, facing criticism over being too capitalistic, it ramped up its funding of progressive and liberal causes in the 2010s.

The CPC indicated that the foundation soon was giving millions to leftist and leftist-adjacent organizations such as the New Venture Fund, FSG Inc., the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the Meridian Institute, and others.

Soon, it was funneling cash into open-borders organizations like the National Immigration Forum and leftist identity groups like the Institute for Latino Progress.

Advocate, a gay activist publication, reported in 2016 that “Walmart has made an imperfect but nonetheless remarkable turnaround on LGBT advocacy,” trending from 14 out of a possible 100 on the Human Rights Campaign’s so-called Corporate Equality Index to 90.

Now, just six years later, Walmart sits at first place on the index with a 100 CEI score, ahead of Amazon, ExxonMobil, and Apple. In addition to donating to groups pushing open borders, amnesty for criminal noncitizens, bigger government, and drag shows for children, Walmart also jumped on the BLM bandwagon.

In June 2020, amidst the George Floyd riots, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon announced that the Walmart Foundation and Walmart were committing $100 million to create a new center on racial equity.

While financially backing and systematizing identity politics, Walmart also embraced critical race theory. City Journal reported in October 2021 that Walmart employees were told that the U.S. was a “white supremacy system.”

Walmart Pulls Guns and Ammo from Sales Floor Over Fears of Civil Unrest

Reported By Jared Harris | Published October 30, 2020 at 7:15am

The world’s largest retailer is pulling firearms and ammunition from sales floors across the United States, a move that is intended to keep the deadly weapons from falling into criminals’ hands.

Walmart advised store managers to begin making the shift Wednesday, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Customers interested in buying firearms or ammunition can still make purchases, but an authorized employee will have to retrieve the goods.

“We have seen some isolated civil unrest and as we have done on several occasions over the last few years, we have moved our firearms and ammunition off the sales floor as a precaution for the safety of our associates and customers,” a company spokesman told The Journal.

Although Walmart stopped selling so-called assault rifles in 2015, the firearms that remain on store shelves are plenty deadly enough to do damage in the hands of a motivated criminal or an inexperienced looter.

The Arkansas-based company also banned open carry within its stores and stopped carrying certain kinds of ammunition after several of its locations were targeted by shooters.

It’s unclear how long Walmart’s latest decision will stand.

The move comes amid a surging demand for firearms and growing civil unrest in several places across America, a trend that is anticipated to increase as a hotly contested election approaches.

Most notably, a Walmart was ransacked Tuesday night in Philadelphia by looters running wild.

Video from the scene is surreal, showing rioters swarming the store and making off with cars full of ill-gotten things.

Here’s What Happened to Walmart After LA Raises Minimum Wage to $15

Minimum-Wage-AspirantSG

replacementDespite President Barack Obama’s rosy report on the strength of the economy during his last State of the Union address, the economy is still struggling mightily, as evidenced recently by an announcement from retail giant Walmart.

Walmart recently made known that it would be closing hundreds of retail stores in the U.S. and around the globe, potentially laying off thousands of workers.

One of those Walmart stores, just closed on Sunday, was the downtown Los Angeles “Neighborhood Market” location that served the largely Hispanic and Asian communities of Chinatown, according to Breitbart.not worth it

Min-Wage-590-LAThe retailer cited a “number of factors” taken into account in deciding to close the store, but the fact that L.A. just raised its minimum wage to $10 per hour, on its way to $15 per hour by 2018, was likely one of the main factors in the decision.

Sadly, the largely impoverished community had fought for years to get Walmart to open a store in their area, but the retailer has been consistently attacked since by liberal labor and environmental activists and union organizers, despite the fact that most of the employees of the store rejected efforts to unionize them.

Anyone with even a modicum of economic understanding knows that arbitrarily raising the minimum wage, which replacementmeans higher labor costs, will result in lost jobs and closed stores as employers attempt to balance the thin margin between their profits and expenses.

We have already seen the steady creep of automation making its way into the fast food restaurant market in response to the increased labor costs that result from increased minimum wages for unskilled and replaceable entry-level workers.

Conservative Tribune is in favor of higher wages for workers who earn them. We are not in favor of statists at the federal, state or local level 2 out of 3arbitrarily setting wages that are better determined by the free market.

Please share this on Facebook and Twitter to help spread this story about the Walmart store in L.A. closing its doors, at least partially in response to the increased minimum wage.

FBI alerted about bulk cell phone purchases at Missouri Walmarts

COLUMBIA, MO – Federal officials are concerned about a large quantity of cell phones purchased in four different Missouri cities in less than a week. Police have investigated the purchase of large quantities of cell phones at Walmart stores in Columbia, Jefferson City, Lebanon and Macon. In two cases, the FBI was contacted.

Law enforcement agencies report cellphones are potential tools in the hands of terrorists. The devices can be used to communicate and they’re difficult to trace if they’re prepaid phones; they can also be used as detonators for bombs.

A call about several suspects buying many cell phones at once in Jefferson City was reported by police today.

t01

KMIZ-TV reports that several men bought dozens of phones at a Columbia Walmart late last week, and paid in cash. Police just reported the purchases Monday.

The Macon County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating a similar report on Wednesday at a Macon Walmart:

t02

Police say two men bought 60-cell phones at Walmart just off of I-44 in Lebanon Saturday. Authorities talked to the men buying the merchandise, but didn’t have a legal reason to detain them, so they were allowed to leave. Police say they did notify the FBI.

“Somebody went in and bought 60 cell phones from Walmart that’s not normal for this area. I’m not going to say just because they’re different religion or just because they’re Muslim–but these people were they were foreign speaking then you need to take notice and you need to let us know because it doesn’t hurt to check on it. You’re not being racist or anything like that you’re just protecting yourself.” Laclede County Sheriff Wayne Merritt tells KYTV.

A spokesman for the FBI tells WDAF-TV that it’s standard procedure for law enforcement agencies to contact them if they deem something to be suspicious. Just because the FBI was contacted does not mean they are investigating the purchases. The alerts could be out of an abundance of caution.

CONFEDERATE BATTLE FLAG GONE. NEXT STATUES. THEN RENAME HIGHWAYS, SCHOOLS.

waving flagBy John Gibson, Jun 23, 2015

Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg

Liberals’ Intollerance of History Sets Off Massive Purge. The Confederate Battle Flag is toast. Burnt toast.

South Carolina’s Governor and both U.S. Senators (one black, one white) have called for its removal from the capitol grounds. The legislature will take up the issue and will promptly vote to remove the flag.

The lonely voices of resistance to the purging of the Confederate flag will soon be silenced. It is simply not cool to display the Confederate Battle Flag.

Wait…correction. It is forbidden.

Just to be clear, I’ve never owned or displayed any item of confederate flag-ware. Don’t particularly support its display. But geez…I don’t cause of deaththink I’ve ever seen a stampede to political correctness quite like this one. Any moment I expect Jimmy Carter to issue a tearful apology for using the Stars and Bars to carry the South.

But after the flag has been rendered non existent if you thought that was going to be the end of it, silly you.

In New Orleans, the mayor is thinking maybe that statue of Robert E. Lee in Lee Circle has to go. Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s office  is looking forward to New Orlean’s 300th birthday. His office issued a statement that the city “should include a close examination of the historical symbols throughout our city and what changes could be made as we approach 2018, including the Robert E. Lee statute in Lee Circle.”

The statement went on, in expand the scope of the purge: “These symbols say who we were in a particular time, but times change. Yet these symbols – statues, monuments, street names, and more – still influence who we are and how we are perceived by the world.  Mayor Landrieu believes it is time to look at the symbols in this city to see if they still have relevance to our future.”Liberalism a mental disorder 2

That’s a hint of what is to come. Jefferson Davis Highway? New name coming. Statue of the President of the Confederacy? Soon to be gone. In fact, the Atlantic Magazine is ginning up the next round of expunging the Confederacy from the pages of history, at least that part of history in public view. It is a looooonnnng list. “The database of the National Center for Education Statistics shows at least 20 schools named for Robert E. Lee, and nine apiece for Stonewall Jackson and Jefferson Davis,” the magazine says, clearly urging changes and quick.

In Tennessee there’s a bust of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest in the state capitol. Gotta get rid of that. Same in Texas where there’s a statue of Jefferson Davis on the grounds of the University of Texas, Austin.

Out, thou foul flag… and statue and highway sign and school name! Be gone!Head in Hands 01

What are libs going to do when they want to call Republicans the Confederacy rising again when there is no sign that the Confederacy ever existed?

Will Levon Helm and The Band now go the way of the hated and banished flag for the offense of “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down?” My god, the racism in that song, in his soulful voice, is just so obvious.

Fine. Purge to your heart’s content, Liberals. If you finish with the flags, statues, highways and schools, and you still have a taste for blood, there’s always the graves of Confederate soldiers. There they are under those headstones–maybe they’re not even dead yet. Alinsky affect

You can always shoot ’em again. Of if that’s not enough, dig ’em up. The bones are probably dust, but go ahead–burn the dust. It will make you feel all righteous and superior.

And that’s what this is really all about, isn’t it?

Imported Muslims arriving now in these U.S. cities

waving flagPosted By Leo Hohmann On 06/17/2015

Article printed from WND: http://www.wnd.com

Cheering Syrian rebels. The rebel groups are made up of various Sunni factions all vying to replace the Shiite-led government of Bashar al-Assad. The overwhelming majority of "refugees" coming from Syria are also Sunni Muslim.

A few congressmen are fighting to block the planned importation of thousands of Syrian refugees into American cities and towns, arguing that they present a grave security risk because many Syrians have ties to the Sunni rebel groups ISIS and al-Nusra Front.

But the fact is, as President Obama ignores the concerns of U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, and others on the House Homeland Security Committee, the Syrians have already started to arrive stateside.

Since January, more than 70 U.S. cities have been on the receiving end of a Syrian visitation.

WND has compiled a complete list of cities (see chart below) that received Syrian refugees since Jan. 1. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres has as many as 11,000 Syrians in a pipeline waiting for admission into the U.S., which is responsible for screening them for criminal and terrorist activity.

Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, wrote President Obama warning that the Syrian refugee program could become a 'back door for jihadists" to enter the U.S.

And therein lies the problem.

McCaul has tried to block the arrival of the Syrians based on testimony from FBI counter-terrorism experts. As chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, he held a hearing on the national security risks of the Syrian refugee program in February and has scheduled a second hearing for June 24. He’s also sent two letters to Obama, urging him not to let the U.N. refugee program become a “jihadist pipeline” into the United States.

The Syrian civil war, now more than four years old, has chased more than 3.8 million Syrians from their homes, according to the U.N., which has about 130,000 it wants to resettle permanently in outside countries. Some of the top destination points in the past few months have been in;

  • Texas, where the cities of Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston have each received more than 20 Syrians since January.
  • Chicago has received 42 Syrians so far this year, more than any other city,
  • while San Diego has taken in 25
  • and Phoenix 20.
  • The troubled city of Baltimore has not been left out. It has received 19 Syrians
  • while Louisville, Kentucky, has taken in 21.

“Baltimore is already suffering with all of the black crime violence (in the wake of the Freddie Gray shooting) and now we’re going to plunk down 19 Syrians,” said Ann Corcoran, who runs the watchdog blog Refugee Resettlement Watch. “It doesn’t make sense.”Picture3 Alinsky affect

WND reported earlier this week that 93 percent of the 922 Syrian refugees resettled into the U.S. since the civil war started in 2011 have been Muslim. The vast majority, 86 percent, have been Sunni Muslims, which means some could have ties to the Sunni rebel groups fighting to bring down the government of President Bashar al-Assad, a Shiite Alowite.

Assad protected the Christian minorities who have now come under brutal attack from ISIS and al-Nusra. Yet, only 4.9 percent of the 922 Syrians brought to the U.S. so far as refugees have been Christians. Why

Syria is home to one of the world’s oldest Christian communities. It was in Antioch, Syria, where followers of Jesus Christ were first called “Christians,” yet their churches have been destroyed and their families decimated by ISIS and al-Nusra terrorists. Many have watched family members beheaded or shot in front of their eyes. “Syria represents the single largest convergence of Islamic terrorists in history,” McCaul wrote in his June 11 letter to Obama. It also represents the largest refugee crisis.

The United States takes in more U.N.-designated refugees than the rest of the world combined. Of the 130,000 Syrians the U.N wants to permanently resettle, the U.S. is being asked to take half, or about 65,000, by the end of Obama’s term in office. The State Department insists they are “intensely screened” even as the FBI has admitted they are impossible to screen because the U.S. has no “boots on the ground in Syria” and Syria is a “failed state” with no reliable law-enforcement data, said Michael Steinbach, deputy director of the FBI’s counter-terrorism unit, in his Feb. 11 testimony before McCaul’s committee.

Growing ‘pockets of resistance’

The State Department, working through nine private contractors and 350 subcontractors, resettles U.N.-certified refugees into more than 190 cities and towns across America. The refugee program has operated in its current form since Congress passed the Refugee Act of 1980.

Some cities in recent years have begun to push back against the arrival of refugees in their communities, saying they have become a burden on social services and aren’t finding jobs that will support themselves without government assistance. Elected leaders in Clarkston, Georgia, for instance, complained in 2011 to Gov. Nathan Deal, who was able to strike a deal in which no new refugees would be sent to the town other than family members of existing refugees.

The mayors of Lynn and Springfield, Massachusetts, as well as Manchester, New Hampshire, and Athens, Georgia, have also questioned why they can’t have more information and influence over how many refugees get sent to their towns. These have been dubbed “pockets of resistance” by the resettlement agencies working for the federal government. A manual was written by one contractor on how to deal with local grassroots activists who push back against the arrival of refugees.

WND last month uncovered a document authored by one of the federal government’s main resettlement contractors that detailed plans to counter the growing “backlash” that is occurring in many cities that would like to shut the refugee spigot off, or at least slow it down. The report recommended monitoring blogs by activists and turning in some to the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center which could then brand them as “anti-Muslim” or guilty of “Islamophobia.”

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C.

The most recent uprising has been in Spartanburg, South Carolina, in the district of Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C.

Gowdy has tried to gather facts on exactly how the program works so he can answer the questions being asked of him by an organized resistance to World Relief’s plans to resettle 60 refugees from Congo, Syria and other countries over the next year.

So far, no Syrians have arrived in Spartanburg, but they have arrived and will continue to arrive in ever larger numbers in many other cities and towns. The chart below logs the numbers who have arrived just in the past five months.

Some of the questions Gowdy has pressed the State Department to answer are:

  • Who makes the ultimate decision as to which cities get refugees from what countries?
  • What variables are taken into consideration when distributing these refugees? Is it done, for instance, according to population density, geography, job and housing availability or availability of welfare benefits?
  • What local officials are brought into the decision-making process and at what point?
  • How are the other “stakeholders” chosen in the receiving communities?
  • How are the financial and economic impacts of the refugees to taxpayer-funded budgets being measured in the various cities where they are sent?

Hiding behind ‘public-private partnerships’

As Gowdy discovered, the State Department dodged most of the questions that concerned Americans have been asking for years.

After Secretary of State John Kerry provided an initial response that Gowdy called vague and “wholly inadequate,” the State Department followed up by saying any further information would have to come from the resettlement agency. In the case of Spartanburg, that would be World Relief, an evangelical agency that contracts with the government on resettlement work. Because it is a private agency, World Relief considers its reports on individual cities to be “proprietary information.” The public is not invited to the quarterly meetings in the receiving communities nor, typically, is the local media.

Approximately 70 percent of World Relief’s revenues last year came from government grants totaling $41.2 million, according to its IRS returns. It also receives funding from foundations such as the Vanguard Charitable Foundation, Mustard Seed Foundation, Soros Fund Charitable Foundation, Pfizer Foundation and Global Impact.

Besides World Relief, the other eight resettlement agencies that contract with the government are the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, Church World Service, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, the International Rescue Committee, Episcopal Migration Ministries, U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, and the Ethiopian Community Development Council. These nine agencies present themselves to local communities as “charities.”

But if they are truly doing the Lord’s work, why are their budgets funded so heavily by the government, and why have they agreed to carry out their work without sharing the gospel message to their refugee clients, many activists have asked.

The nine contractors share the wealth with more than 350 subcontractors. For instance, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops subcontracts with Catholic Charities, while Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service subcontracts with Lutheran Social Services and Church World Service contracts with affiliates of the National Council of Churches.

Many of the agencies and their myriad subcontractors also accept donations from leftist foundations tied to George Soros, Bill Gates, the Tides Foundation, Walmart, Target, the Komen Foundation, the United Way and many others.

Big money flows into resettlement business

According to research in a new book by James Simpson, an independent investigative journalist, the Lutheran resettlement efforts, which have been very active in bringing Somali refugees into Minnesota among other places, are financed 92 percent by the government. This Lutheran “charity” also receives donations from George Soros’ Open Society Institute, the Ford Foundation, Global Impact, Fidelity Investments, Bank of America and the Annie E. Casey Foundation.

Simpson sums up the program in his book, “The Red-Green Axis: Refugees, Immigration and the Agenda to Erase America.” He writes:

“Hatched by the U.N. and the American Left, the resettlement agenda is dedicated to erasing our culture, traditions and laws, and creating a compliant, welfare-dependent multicultural society with no understanding of America’s constitutional framework and no interest in assimilation. The ultimate target is a voting base large enough for the Left’s long-sought ‘permanent progressive majority.’

“Most people would be shocked to know that America currently takes more refugees from the world’s ghettos than all other refugee resettlement countries in the world combined. The State Department brags about it. Furthermore, most of those refugees are referred to the United States by the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The refugees (and the illegal aliens flooding the southern border from Central America) are then ‘resettled’ by taxpayer funded ‘Voluntary Agencies’ or VOLAGs as they are called.”The Lower you go

And the CEOs of these resettlement agencies get paid handsomely. According to Simpson’s research, they bring in six-figure salaries of between $300,000 and $500,000 per year. Of the nine main resettlement agencies, six are faith-based or as Simpson says, “nominally religious,” because they operate with mainly government cash and they are forbidden by their government contracts from evangelizing their clients, many of whom are Muslim. “All are in it for the money and top staff make high six figures,” Simpson writes. “Together the VOLAGs are paid close to $1 billion in taxpayer dollars to resettle refugees. Two more organizations (including Baptist Family and Children Services) who settle most of the unaccompanied alien children (UAC) brought the total to over $1.3 billion last year.”

Forty-nine of the 50 states, with Wyoming being the lone exception, have a refugee resettlement program in place with the federal government. In most states the governor appoints a refugee resettlement coordinator to handle the shipments of refugees, but in 12 states the contractors handle the refugees with little or no input from the governor’s office.
