The scene: A high school football player lies injured on the ground. Just minutes before, he was doing the thing he would almost certainly choose to do above all else. Now he is seemingly paralyzed and unable to move his legs. The clock ticks. Nothing changes. A half hour passes, with the young man still lying on the field as the crowd looks on and grows increasingly uncomfortable with what the fates have in store. The situation appears hopeless.

Then, into that breach, steps another player. He asks a youth pastor in attendance at the game to offer a prayer. Gridiron opponents quickly become brothers-in-arms as players and coaches from both teams bow their head and call down aid from above. There is light in the darkness, and after the impromptu prayer huddle breaks with an “Amen,” the grateful crowd applauds.

But in that crowd is also someone for whom the consolations of God are a grievous offense. Where others see peace and possibility, they see a dire need to make the world flat. And so, anonymously of course, like a certain serpent in the garden, they make a call to the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF). A group based in Wisconsin that has been remarkably successful at doing what should be impossible: Convincing people that our country’s founding was based on godlessness.picture6 picture7

The prayer, the FFRF has charged along with the male complainant, is a violation of the Constitution. No matter that there is nothing even remotely resembling the establishment of a religion going on here. Or that this is exactly what the free exercise clause of the First Amendment is designed to protect.

Evil is on the march, and marching out in the open.

Because we don’t do open-and-shut cases anymore when it comes to the foundational principles of our country. We choke the life out of them.

We’ve been down this road over and over again. In case you haven’t heard, we even sue nuns now for not paying for other women to have sex. This is what eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil ultimately looks like in a culture bent on committing suicide, via the joyless crusade of the God-haters. They have traded a righteous inheritance for a cesspool and called it the dictates of “reason.” Yet that word most certainly doesn’t mean what they think it means. For these types of fools never seem to run out of ways to torpedo dignity and civility with their ugliness and folly. There’s nothing “reasonable” about that. Only sadness and wickedness.

Such a bad tree will produce bad fruit. Like a new investigative video, which revealed Planned Parenthood implementing abortion quotas to increase the number of dead babies at the hands of their modern-day holocaust. Including the use of pizza parties to motivate employees to sell and perform more murders. That is the pitch-black utopia the God-haters seek to sell us.

What a vile trade the usurpers of liberty are making. Prayer is oppression, while promoting violence against the innocent is lionized as fundamental to the future of democracy. And they’re not even pretend to hide it from us anymore. Evil is on the march, and marching out in the open. combined

The devil is telling us exactly who he is, and showing us the ash heap of history he desires to jettison us. Sadly, some of our fellow countrymen thunderously applause at this ode to the macabre. The Declaration of Independence is a dead letter to them, and the most fundamental right is to strip the world of any ultimate meaning other than the whims of the self.

“Ye will be like God,” said the serpent, with forked tongue. The same forked tongue being used to lie to us now. There’s always fine print, though, when it comes to that sort of Faustian bargain. And rest assured, the devil is always in those details.

Which brings me to another man of faith, who once said a prayer in the face of the laughter of those who did not believe. He uttered the phrase “Talitha Koum,” and a little girl rose from the dead to the wonderment of all. Good thing that didn’t happen on a public high school football field, or Jesus could have expected a strongly worded letter from the Freedom From Religion Foundation. And maybe even a court injunction to go along with his scourging and crown of thorns.

There are simply moments that belong to God alone to bring light to the darkness in our midst. Those in attendance at that high school football game in Tennessee recognized just such a moment when they fell on bended knee and sought out God’s mercy, and my prayer for them is this: May their righteous response to the Freedom From Religion Foundation’s jihad be to pray all the louder and all the more publicly in the future, and may that include praying for the souls of the God-haters who seek to persecute them. For God is just, and His justice cannot sleep forever.

Things are getting ugly out there, folks. Freedom of speech and freedom of religion are both dying painful deaths in the once-Christian West. Over the last couple of years we’ve brought you a handful of stories about Christians being arrested for saying Christians things (see here, here, here, and here), and yet it just keeps happening more and more often.

The latest example may be one of the most egregious yet.

Gordon Larmour is a 42-year old Christian who has been street preaching for seven years. This past summer he was handing out leaflets and saying, “Don’t forget Jesus loves you and He died for your sins.” One of the men passing him asked, “What does your God say about homosexuals?” Mr, Larmour responded by quoting Scripture and telling the questioner that God created Adam and Eve to produce children, which sent the young homosexual man into a rage and he began chasing the preacher.

When the police arrived they arrested Larmour (who was the one being threatened) and accused him of threatening or abusive behavior, which was ‘aggravated by prejudice relating to sexual orientation,’ even though the preacher had not used any foul language or made any offensive remarks. Larmour was forced to spend a night in jail and the six months of court cases and legal trouble before finally being cleared of any crime by the local sheriff.

Mr. Larmour still can’t believe what happened to him, telling the Scottish Mail, “I can’t see why I was arrested in the first place – it was a massive overreaction and a waste of everyone’s time. The police didn’t listen to me. They took the young homosexual guy’s side straight away and read me my rights.

“I feel they try so hard to appear like they are protecting minorities, they go too far the other way. I want to be able to tell people the good word of the Gospel and think I should be free to do so. I wasn’t speaking my opinions – I was quoting from the Bible.”Big Gay Hate Machine

Larmour believes that the police acted wrongly and points to the court case where the young man’s friend testified that Larmour had really done nothing wrong.

“I think the police should have handled it differently and listened to what I had to say. They should have calmed the boy down and left it at that.

“In court the boy’s friend told the truth – that I hadn’t assaulted him or called him homophobic names. I had simply answered his question and told him about Adam and Eve and Heaven and Hell. Preaching from the Bible is not a crime.”Leftist Giant called Tyranny

The local courts found Larmour innocent of all charges and cleared him of all wrong doing, but it doesn’t change the injustice of this situation happening at all. Cases like this are becoming all too common in the UK and across Europe and Canada where saying the “wrong” thing can lead to arrest and fines. The world is a dangerous place for Christians (Christianity is the world’s most persecuted religion), but it’s even becoming dangerous for Christians living in the supposedly “Christian” West.America are you paying attention

No one likes to be silenced. No one wants to be told what they can or cannot talk about. However, this is what is beginning to happen on college campuses all across America. It is an end-around free speech, rather than blatantly removing the rights of the students.

At least this is the apparent result, according to a recent study.

Heat Street reports:

So-called “Bias Response Teams” are creeping onto university campuses across the country. This was the conclusion of the first national survey of Bias Response Teams done by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE).

The report identified 232 public and private American colleges and universities that had bias response teams on their campuses in 2016, affecting around 2.8 million students.

BRTs encourage students to formally report on other students and faculty members whenever they perceive that someone’s speech is “biased,” which threatens free speech.pure socialism

These Bias Response Teams are run by administrators and volunteer police personnel. And they are encouraging students to report those who may have or are expressing a biased opinion on a subject. It also includes the way people dress for Halloween and the things they share on social media.

Most universities receive a variety of complaints from students, including students who encounter “offensive” yet legally protected speech, but rather than responding to these incidents fairly if there’s an actual threat, campuses with Bias Response Teams conduct an investigation and if the “respondent” is found “guilty”, invite them for a “hearing”.

FIRE Senior Program Officer Adam Steinbaugh said: “Inviting students to report a broad range of speech to campus authorities casts a chilling pall over free speech rights.

“Bias response teams solicit reports of a wide range of constitutionally protected speech, including speech about politics and social issues. These sometimes-anonymous bias reports can result in interventions by conflict-wary administrators who then provide ‘education,’ often in the form of a verbal reprimand, or even explicit punishment.”free speech def

Rather than encourage students to confront ideas they do not agree with, they are teaching them to run to the governing authority. Let “Big Brother” curtail speech that we find offensive or unpleasant; another step in the destruction of free thought and open debate. This fear tactic also destroys free speech, as it makes the consequences too high to speak out.

A Danish student who gave up her studies to fight ISIS believes she has a $1million bounty on her head but claims she is being treated as “a terrorist” back home. Joanna Palani, 22, claims to have killed 100 militants during battles in Iraq and Syria as a crackshot sniper.

 

She also says she freed a group of women and children being held as sex slaves by ISIS and then taught them how to become soldiers and fight back.

Born in a refugee camp, this Iranian Kurd came to Copenhagen as a toddler. She grew up loving firearms. When she was old enough, she left to join the fight… for the GOOD GUYS!

Palani is the first foreign fighter to be jailed under new passport laws and is currently being held in Denmark’s largest prison, Vestre Fængsel in Copenhagen. …Her lawyer, Erbil Kaya, noted the irony of seeking to prosecute someone who fought on the same side as Danish troops and other coalition forces while the government seeks to rehabilitate returning Isis fighters.

…Returning Isis fighters have benefited from the so-called Aarhus model of reintegration and deradicalisation instead of custodial sentences. Under the Aarhus model, returning fighters are assigned mentors, psychological counselling and are helped to apply for jobs or to resume education.

Let that thought sink in.

At this rate, Media will spend the next four years playing catch-up. The media doesn’t report news anymore. They frame narratives.

They use keywords and phrases to not just INFORM the public, but to INFLUENCE how they will react to the news they are hearing about. We have seen hints that it’s all coordinated, too. Like the use of certain words (like the word ‘dark’) by nearly EVERY left-leaning news outlet to describe Trump’s speech at the GOP convention.

They don’t mention the seven nations covered by the Executive Order, for instance, without first inserting the leading phrase ‘Muslim-majority’. (Coincidence? Hell no.)

Historically, this tactic has been absolutely LETHAL to Republican politicians. The media attack machine, when unleashed, has a long line of ‘assassinated’ political careers. Again, not a coincidence. They could use an innocent clumsy phrase, like ‘binders full of women’ as a cudgel to beat us down.propaganda machine

 

Then along came Trump.

Not only has he been completely impervious to their frenzied attacks — only Dubya has seen hysterical venom that has even come close to these levels — but he’s making them look like clowns.

It’s a political game of rope-a-dope.

They think they’re baiting him to destroy him… and (to continue the boxing analogy) wind up face own on the mat, wondering what hit them. This time, for instance, they were pounding on him, like usual, over the travel ban. He called them out for being fake news, saying they hadn’t given proper coverage to terror attacks. He issued a list of attacks they hadn’t covered adequately.

What did they do? The set to work ‘proving him wrong’. The started talking about the terror attacks. It was beautiful. The LEFT was playing defense by calling him a liar. See? We covered 74% of those attacks!

This gave the RIGHT an opportunity to point out that whenever there WAS an attack, the Left consistently moves heaven and earth to avoid connecting motive to Islam. Evidence be damned.

Result? When the motive for the travel ban was to protect Americans from dangerous countries… the antagonistic media spends whole news cycles discussing exactly WHICH dangers Trump is aiming to defend us from.

Pretty slick, that.

If they can’t stop Trump’s nominees, they’ll just try to damage them as much as possible.

Thanks to Google, there’s no such thing as the memory hole. Just about everything is neatly archived on the Internet forever, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s hypocritical political record on presidential nominees.

Schumer might insist Democrats are just acting as a constitutional check on the administration by slowing executive nominees. But a quick search shows he once decried what he’s now embracing.

Four years ago, Obama had just won a second term, Democrats controlled the Senate, and Schumer was getting annoyed with Republicans. “Just about everyone in America—Democrat, Republican, liberal, conservative—believe that once you elect a president,” Schumer said, “he deserves his choices to run the executive branch.”

Because the minority wouldn’t sign off, Schumer accused them of holding the government hostage. Republicans were, he argued, “trying to “paralyze the executive branch the way they’ve paralyzed the legislative branches because they really don’t want the government to function.”Leftist Propagandist

A bill offered by a pair of Senate Republicans this week to reduce immigration could save taxpayers $1.7 trillion, according to back-of-the-envelope calculations by a scholar at The Heritage Foundation.

The sponsors of the bill, Sens. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) and David Perdue (R-Ga.), have not estimated the fiscal impact of the proposal. But they cite models projecting that the result of eliminating an immigration diversity visa program and prohibiting new citizens from sponsoring their extended family members would reduce legal immigration by about 4.3 million people over the first 10 years. Most of the people who come into the United States to join family members have low skills and little education, making them less likely to succeed in the U.S. economy.

Citing data from the National Academies of Sciences, Heritage Senior Research Fellow Robert Rector projected the net lifetime cost to taxpayers of the typical immigrant with a high school degree or less at $400,000. That is the net of costs minus taxes paid at all levels of government. If all of the would-be immigrants who would be stopped from coming had high school degrees or less, according to the projections, the lifetime savings to taxpayers would be about $1.7 trillion.

“The fiscal impact would be very strong and very positive,” Rector said.

A large and obvious source of taxpayer savings would be government-assistance programs designed to help the working poor. This includes programs such as food stamps, Medicaid, and housing subsidies. Immigrants without advanced education and skills tend to be heavy users of those programs, just like natives of that profile.

“It doesn’t matter whether you come from Mexico or Indiana,” Rector said.

But Rector said the costs of low-skill immigration go beyond anti-poverty programs. “Conservatives have deluded themselves that the whole cost of government is means-tested welfare,” he said.

The typical low-skill worker does not pay nearly enough in taxes to pay for the benefits he receives, Rector said. As just one example, he cited public education, where the average annual cost is about $12,000 per student. Low-income Americans also cost more in Social Security and Medicare when they get older than they pay in payroll taxes for those programs, he added.

Strong Opposition Looming

In a sign of the opposition that the Reforming American Immigration for Strong Employment (RAISE) Act is likely to face, Sen Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) quickly released a statement criticizing the proposal. “This legislation sends a terrible message to the rest of the world and is unquestionably a job killer,” she stated. “As a nation of immigrants, this bill runs counter to our values.” 

Roy Beck, president of NumbersUSA, pointed out that previous proposals for “comprehensive immigration reform” contained provisions to reduce chain migration. He said this bill would reverse decades of immigration policy that have resulted in the nation currently housing the most foreign-born residents in U.S. history. “It would be the biggest change in immigration since the 1965 act,” he said. “It would be the first one since 1924 that would act to reduce immigration.”

Steven Camarota, director of research at the Center for Immigration Studies, said calculating the precise fiscal impact of the bill is difficult. He noted that Rector’s estimate, for instance, does not account for the effect of inflation over decades. The impact also depends on other policy decisions that are unknowable in the long run. Camarota said not all immigrants who arrive via family reunification lack skills and education. Educated foreigners who arrive on employment-based visas are more likely to have extended family members who also have education and skills, he noted. But he said the impact on taxpayers “almost certainly” would be positive.

Proponents argue the law would do more than save taxpayer money. They contend it also would benefit American workers, particularly those with the least education and skills who compete directly with low-skill immigrants for jobs. Cotton said Wednesday on “The Laura Ingraham Show” that 14 out of 15 immigrants arrive in the U.S. without the government checking on their skills or education. “The effect of it simply is to drive down wages for people who work with their hands and work on their feet, people with a high school diploma or less,” Cotton said. “The very people we’re hurting are the previous generation of immigrants who are most likely to face more competition for the very same jobs they’re working today. So, I would say that my legislation is both pro-immigration and pro-immigrant.”

Impact Would Grow Over Time

Camarota said with 325 million people total and 150 million in the labor force, the country is too big to see much of an impact from a reduction of 300,000 to 400,000 workers in Year 1. “It would take awhile for it to have a big impact,” he said. “The economy and the workforce are very large … But over 10 years, it begins to add up.”cut

The impact would be greatest in certain geographic areas and for certain occupations where immigrants are disproportionately represented, he said. Camarota said foreign-born workers, for instance, make up 49 percent of maids working in the United States.

However, Camarota said other effects are hard to predict. For instance, he noted, there is some evidence that immigrants flooding into areas like Southern California may have reduced the number of Americans moving there from other parts of the country. If immigration dropped sharply, it might draw more natives to those areas, canceling out whatever wage effect the immigration cut produced.

But there are real-world examples of how a sharp decline in immigration has impacted wages. The Wall Street Journal reported last year that a 40 percent decline in immigrants from 2007 to 2012 prompted by an Arizona law targeting illegal immigrants in the state led to wage gains in certain industries.

The Texas state Senate on Wednesday passed a measure to block state funding to cities in which law president-bill-clinton-on-illegalsenforcement officials disregard federal immigration laws. The measure would require police agencies to hold anyone in custody until U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement is able to verify their immigration status, or risk losing state funding.

Similar legislation has been introduced in Ohio, Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, Iowa, Idaho and Pennsylvania. Other laws are likely to be introduced in the coming weeks. Many are inspired by Trump’s executive orders barring refugees and blocking all immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries.

“What he’s doing is a great idea. We need to protect Americans, we need to protect Tennesseans,” state Sen. Mark Green (R), author of his state’s version of the sanctuary city ban, said in an interview. “We’re going to take it a step further and enhance what the president is doing and take state dollars from cities that decide, because they want to, to ignore ICE detainers.”Civil rights groups that oppose bans on sanctuary cities say the measures are questionable, and many promised to challenge the bills in court if they become law. Local law enforcement agencies that decline to participate with federal immigration authorities say their approach helps them build trust with immigrant communities. If undocumented immigrants are afraid for their own safety, they are less likely to report crimes or cooperate with local police. “Many cities and some states and other municipalities have made the decision that they’re not going to use their jails, their police officers, their city resources to do immigration enforcement,” Omar Jadwat, a senior attorney at the American Civil Liberties Union’s Immigrants Rights Project, told The Hill last year. “And that is completely within their rights.”Leftist Propagandist

Local law enforcement agencies are not required to enforce immigration statutes or to comply with detention requests from ICE. But the new round of state proposals would use state grant money as leverage to require local compliance. Some of the new proposals go farther by holding local officials accountable for their city’s actions. In Ohio, a proposal backed by state Treasurer Josh Mandel (R) — who is challenging Sen. Sherrod Brown (D) in 2018 — would charge officials with a fourth-degree felony, punishable by up to 18 months in prison, if an undocumented immigrant is charged with a crime.

A Florida proposal would require government officials to report possible violations to the state attorney general or risk expulsion from office. The Florida bill would fine local governments up to $5,000 a day for maintaining sanctuary policies. deport-politicians

North Carolina’s version would withhold tax revenues from natural gas, telecommunications and beer and wine sales from any locality that maintains a sanctuary policy. State lawmakers banned sanctuary cities in 2015, though that measure has no enforcement mechanism.

In Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has already moved to block about $1.8 million in state grants to Travis County, where the local sheriff has implemented a sanctuary policy. “I will not tolerate sanctuary city policies that put the citizens of Texas at risk,” Abbott said in a statement Thursday. “Elected officials do not get to pick and choose which laws they will obey.”

Since the day after Trump won election, Democrat-led states have pursued an opposite path in hopes of protecting undocumented residents, setting up likely legal clashes. California legislators are working on a package of laws that would create legal defense funds for those swept up in immigration raids, while Oregon Gov. Kate Brown (D) ordered state agencies to avoid asking about immigration statuses of those with whom they come into contact.

“In California, immigrants are an integral part of who we are and what we’ve become,” Gov. Jerry Brown (D) told legislators in his state of the state address last month. “We will defend everybody, every man, woman and child, who has come here for a better life and has contributed to the well-being of our state.”liberal-leftist-derangement-syndrom

The Clinton administration used the executive branch’s broad power over immigration to send a 6-year-old boy back to a communist dictatorship. The courts were completely powerless to stop him.

As explained by the federal appellate court that ruled on Elian Gonzalez’s asylum application: “It is the duty of the Congress and of the executive branch to exercise political will,” and “in no context is the executive branch entitled to more deference than in the context of foreign affairs,” which includes immigration.

The court acknowledged that Elian might well be subjected to “re-education,” “communist indoctrination” and “political manipulation.” (Then again, so would enrolling him at Sidwell Friends.) It didn’t matter! Sending little boys back to communist dictatorships was the policy of the Clinton administration.

The Obama administration’s immigration policy was to ensure that millions of poverty-stricken foreigners would come here and help turn our country into a Mexican version of Pakistan. The most reviled section of the act, melodramatically called the “Papers Please” law, was upheld by the Supreme Court. But the other parts, allowing state officials to enforce federal immigration laws, were ruled unconstitutional. A president’s policy choice to ignore immigration laws supersedes a state’s right to enforce them.

The court conceded that hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens were arrested in Arizona each year, that they were responsible for “a disproportionate share of serious crime,” and that illegals constituted nearly 6 percent of Arizona’s population.

But Arizona was powerless to enforce laws on the books — if those laws happened to be about immigration. The president’s authority over immigration is absolute and exclusive, as part of his authority over foreign policy.

To review:

— When the president’s immigration policy is to promote international communism: The president wins.

— When the president’s immigration policy is to transform America into a different country: The president wins.

But when the president’s immigration policy is to protect Americans: Some piss-ant judge announces that his authority exceeds that of the president.

In many parts of the country, you’re already not living in America. Just a few more years, and the transformation will be complete. There will be a North American landmass known as “the United States,” but it won’t be our country. The only thing that stands between America and oblivion is a total immigration moratorium. The judiciary, both political parties, the media, Hollywood, corporate America and approximately 1 million lobbying groups are all working frantically to bring the hardest cases to our shores. Left-wing traitors, who used to honeymoon in Cuba and fight with peasant revolutionaries in Peru, toil away, late into the night, to ensure that genocidal Rwandans can move to America and immediately start collecting food stamps, Medicaid and Social Security.

No matter how clearly laws are written, government bureaucrats connive to import people from countries that a majority of Americans would not want to visit, much less become. Federal judges issue lunatic rulings to ensure that there will never be a pause in the transformation of America.

Congress could write laws requiring immigrants to pay taxes, learn English, forgo welfare and have good moral character. It could write laws giving the president authority to exclude aliens in the public interest. Except it already has. Those laws were swept away by INS officials, federal judges and Democratic administrations — under ferocious pressure from America-hating, left-wing groups.

Dueling polls released by CBS and UC Berkeley should be all the proof that Americans need to understand just how out-of-touch the Democrat Party is with the rest of America.

First, a new poll from the liberals at University of California Berkeley is sending shockwaves throughout the state of California. The pollster asked if California residents would like to see the state BAN so-called “Sanctuary Cities” and found that roughly 74% of Californians wished that the state would end “Sanctuary” practices! Remember California easily sided with Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump in the most recent election, but still the vast majority of the state’s voters want to see Sanctuary Cities outlawed. The poll found that 82% of Republicans want the ban, 74% of Democrats, 70% of Independents, and, most surprisingly, 65% of Hispanics!

As if this poll from UC Berkeley weren’t shocking enough, CBS has another poll which is just as shocking but far more disheartening. According to a new poll released from CBS only one out of seven (roughly 15%) Democrats believes that Islam is more “violent” than Christianity. Comparatively about 60% of Republicans believe that Islam is more violent. This poll is shocking in that it unmasks the utter delusion that most Democrats must be living under. Thankfully, the folks at the Daily Wire have offered 7 pieces of evidence to prove that Islam is far more violent than Christianity.

  1. Islamic countries and Muslim-majority countries are far more violent and intolerant than any of the two Christian countries on earth or better yet, any of the Christian-majority countries.
  1. Islamic religious apologists are selectively blind to the macabre history of Islam.
  1. A far larger percentage of Muslims are biblical literalists compared to Christians.
  1. Currently, Islam treats Jews far worse than Christianity does. How a majority religion treats the Jews is a litmus test for its level of civility.
  1. When Jesus is mocked, Christians take to social media. When Muhammad is drawn, even in the gentlest light, Muslims burn down embassies and slaughter cartoonists in cold blood.
  2. The world is being torn apart by Islamic terrorists.
  1.  Islam hasn’t had a reformation. Christianity has.

Some of these arguments are more convincing than others, but for me the ones which carry the most weight point to the difference in history and theology. Throughout Muslim history, the Muslim world has ALWAYS been embroiled in religious warfare. Literally, from day one, some portion of the Muslim world has been fighting to expand its borders. While this may have been an issue at certain points in Christian history, the days when Christianity was spread through war ended more than 500 years ago.

Theologically, the teachings of orthodox Christianity are incompatible with acts of violence not perpetrated in self-defense. Meanwhile, violence is a feature of the Islamic faith. Where Christianity teaches the aggrieved to “turn the other cheek,” Islam demands physical punishment in recompense for offense. While Christianity teaches that forgiveness and grace are beautiful virtues to be practiced liberally, Islam focuses its energy on physical manifestations of justice and retribution. While Christianity leaves justice, vengeance, judgment in the hands of the Almighty (and for a future date), Islam demands these things… NOW.

One of the Daily Wire’s arguments does strike me as compelling though – the one dealing with how we treat Israel. Israeli Jews are banned from entering 16 of the world’s Muslim nations; can you think of one “Christian” nation banning Jews? There is none.

Wake up, America. Christianity is the true “religion of peace,” and while it might be politically correct to equate the two great Universal world religions, any cursory examination proves this comparison to be ridiculous. There is no comparison, Islam is by far the more violent religion.

We have heard endless bloviation from media types who have spent their entire journalistic careers in open hostility to Christianity suddenly pontificating about how un-Christian it is to build walls and restrict immigration to the United States. Why, we’re told, that’s not something Jesus would do! He himself was a refugee! How can you call yourself a Christian and not believe in letting anybody and everybody in? That’s what Jesus would do!

Now we know that people who think and talk like this are wrong. When Jesus came to Earth, he did not come as a immigrationrefugee. He came as the rightful king, intent on reclaiming what had been stolen from him by the Prince of Darkness. When his parents took him to Egypt as a child, they didn’t go as refugees but as exiles who returned to their homeland as soon as they could. When his parents took him to Bethlehem, they didn’t go as refugees, they went as hard-working taxpayers doing their civic duty.

Biblically we know that there is a legitimate place for walls, for physical barriers designed for protection. God sent Nehemiah to Jerusalem to build one around the city to keep the bad guys out. We know that immigration bans under the right circumstances are appropriate, for God permanently banned immigration from the neighboring nations of Ammon and Moab because of their historic and implacable hostility to Israel. 

But we know that building walls and using immigration restrictions are legitimate policies because Jesus will use them in his own kingdom. (I am indebted to my good friend Jeff Reed for this idea, but don’t blame him for anything in what follows that you don’t like. That’s on me.)

The Scriptures tell us that the eternal city of his coming kingdom will be surrounded by “a great high wall with twelve gates” (Revelation 21:12), each guarded by an angel so undocumented intruders cannot enter. Identification papers will be scrutinized carefully before anyone is allowed to enter through one of the great big beautiful doors that are built in this wall that surrounds the city. In John’s vision, “books were opened,” and “if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life” he was not only not admitted but “thrown into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:12; 15). Talk about extreme vetting and deportation.

Only those who “wash their robes” in the shed blood of Christ will be allowed to “enter the city by its gates” (Revelation 22:14). Those who refuse to adopt the values of the eternal city will remain outside its walls. “Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood” (Revelation 22:15). In other words, cultural assimilation will not be optional for someone who desires a place in this coming kingdom. 

Immigration controls will be stout, and deportation for those without proper documentation will be enforced. The king will apprehend those who try to sneak in and pass themselves off as citizens when they are not, and say to them, “Depart from me, you workers of lawlessness” (Matthew 7:23).

How do would-be immigrants get their names written in this register, this book of life, so that they will be admitted through the gates on that day? How do they get the visa, if you will, that entitles them to enter the kingdom of God? 

“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household” (Acts 16:31). All prior allegiances must be renounced, and Jesus must be acknowledged as their new sovereign. They must accept him not just as Savior but as Lord. Once they do, their citizenship is granted, their passport is stamped, and they are welcomed to their new kingdom. This citizenship process is open to anyone in the world, anywhere, at any time. 

We have my great-grandfather’s immigration documents hanging on the wall of our living room. In order for him to become a citizen of the United States, it was necessary for him to “renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to all and any foreign Prince, Potentate, State and Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to the Czar of Russia, of whom I was a subject.” Then he was required to declare his new allegiance to a new source of ultimate political authority, the Constitution of the United States.

The earthly process of becoming a citizen of the United States is a parable, a reflection, a shadow, of the process of becoming a citizen of the eternal kingdom. Perhaps God even intended it to be just that, and we cloud the picture when we make foolish changes to sound immigration policy. To be sure, it’s a shadow only, since the eternal kingdom is perfect and America is not. 

In the kingdom of the age to come, documentation is required, a profession of allegiance is required, the borders are patrolled, and intruders are expelled. If that’s how Christ governs his heavenly kingdom, earthly kingdoms can be governed in the same way.

Does Christ believe in immigration control and border security? Of course. And if he does, it’s okay for the United States to believe in them too.

And the ultimate lesson for readers of this column is this: be sure you have your visa in hand because no one knows when the day of ultimate migration will come.immigration

Pay is flowing so generously at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) that hundreds of bureaucrats there receive more than most members of Congress.

  • The Senate majority and minority leaders are paid $193,000 annually. Two hundred and one CFPB employees outdo Sens. Mitch McConnell and Charles Schumer in pay.
  • Speaker of the House Paul Ryan of Wisconsin receives $223,000 per year, but that’s less than what 54 CFPB employees are paid.
  • Another 170 CFPB employees earn more than the secretaries of defense and state, the attorney general and the director of national intelligence. All cabinet salaries are capped at $199,700, but not at the bureau. Thirty-nine CFPB employees earn more than the $230,000 paid to Vice President Mike Pence.
  • A total of 198 CFPB employees also earn more than their ultimate boss, Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellin, who is paid $201,700.
  • Overall, 449 CFPB employees get at least $100,000 per year and 228 CFPB are paid more than $200,000, according to publicly available 2016 data.

These findings are part of a Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group salary analysis for the consumer agency that was founded by Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and then-President Barack Obama in 2011.  The agency was created under the Dodd-Frank Act to serve as a consumer agency protecting the poor against financial fraud.

Warren deliberately placed the agency inside the Federal Reserve Board. As a result, the salaries there do not have to conform to the pay scale set for federal workers at all other department and agencies.not-okay

CFPB spokesman Samuel Gilford justified the high salaries by citing Dodd-Frank’s section 1013, saying “compensation at the CFPB is set pursuant to the federal law that established the agency.”

“It’s ironic that the agency that is supposed to be looking out for the ‘little guy’ is actually padding the pockets of their own employees with exorbitant salaries,” David Williams, president of the Taxpayer Protection Alliance, told TheDCNF. The top salary at CFPB is reserved for Gail Hillebrand, the associate director for consumer education. She received $259,500 in 2016.i-am-definitly-not-okay-with-that

Not only do CFPB employees earn more than most of America’s top leaders, but 240 CFPB employees earn more than all 50 governors. The highest current salary for a sitting Democratic governor is Pennsylvania’s Tom Wolf, who is paid $187,818, according to Ballotpedia.

CFPB now is an embattled agency with congressional calls for its elimination. Others favor sharply reorganizing it and removing CFPB from the Federal Reserve Board so it can operate like a regular agency with congressional oversight. Unlike all other federal departments and agencies, Congress cannot set its budget or enact reforms at the agency due to the Dodd-Frank restrictions.picture4

Rep. Sean Duffy of Wisconsin, chairman of the House Financial Services oversight and investigations subcommittee, told TheDCNF that it’s “outrageous” CFPB continues to “use taxpayer dollars to pay themselves lavishly. This is just another reminder that the CFPB must be reined in and held accountable to the American people. The CFPB is one of the most unaccountable agencies in the federal government.”

Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, called CFPB, “one more secret part of Dodd Frank, hidden away from the American people’s eyes.” Norquist said the Dodd-Frank Act is “Obamacare for the financial world. The fact that 170 earn more than sitting cabinet members and many more than the Vice President just shows how out of line the CFPB is.”

Paul H. Kupiec, resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, compared the salaries of federal employees at financial regulatory agencies and found that most federal bureaucrats earn more than those in the private banking sector.

Kupiec worked for a decade at the Federal Reserve, and later at FDIC, Freddie Mac and at the International Monetary Fund. He found in a 2014 study that federal workers “earned average total compensation that exceeded the average total employee compensation paid by 99.9 percent of all banks that filed regulatory reports in 2012.“As a group, those lucky enough to find employment at any of these bank regulatory agencies earned average total compensation that exceeded the average total employee compensation paid by 99.9 percent of all banks that filed regulatory reports in 2012,” he concluded.

“There’s kind of been a nuclear war in terms of salary and benefit between these agencies trying to one-up each other,” Kupiec told TheDCNF in an interview. “Nobody looks at it. And nobody stops them.”i-am-definitly-not-okay-with-that

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of Iran, used bogus news peddled by some major U.S. media outlets to denounce the United States and foster anti-American perceptions Tuesday.

Khamenei, speaking before gathered Iranian military leaders, pointed to stories a five-year-old child was detained and then handcuffed at Dulles International Airport as part of President Donald Trump’s travel ban.

“We actually thank this new president!” Khamenei told military leaders. “We thank him, because he made it easier for us to reveal the real face of the United States … Now, with everything he is doing — handcuffing a child as young as five at an airport — he is showing the reality of American human rights.”

Except the handcuffing incident never happened. A five-year-old Iranian child was temporarily detained after Trump’s Jan. 27 executive order on immigration but reports of a handcuffing turned out to be based on a 2015 photograph of a child being detained at school. Some outlets reported the child was only detained, while others, hungry to undermine the credibility of the administration, quickly ran with the handcuffing angle.liars-news

White House press secretary Sean Spicer was even asked about the alleged incident on Jan. 30, before the debunking of the handcuffing incident began. On Tuesday, The New York Times blew past the fact that some media outlets had confused a 2015 incident at a school and the 2017 detention of a child at Dulles.

“Although the boy was detained — the White House press secretary, Sean Spicer, said that ‘to assume that just because of someone’s age or gender, or whatever, that they don’t pose a threat would be misguided and wrong’ — he was apparently not handcuffed,” The New York Times reported on Tuesday.help-stomp-out-fake-news

The alleged incident reportedly happened on Jan. 27, at Dulles. It came after an executive order from Trump that temporarily banned travel from seven nations — Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, Syria, and Somalia. The executive order also banned new refugee entries for 120 days, and indefinitely suspended Syrian refugees from entering the United States.

It is not clear when large media outlets began reporting the Iranian boy had been handcuffed, using a photo taken in 2015. But the reporting shot around the world, and was published in Arab American News and in outlets in Great Britain and Australia. Debunking of the handcuffing detail began on Feb. 1, when Snopes.com identified that the photograph of the child was taken in 2015, during an incident at a Kentucky school. WUSA-TV also ran a report debunking the handcuff claim.

“It is not apparent whether the image circulated in error, or if it was purposely misidentified,” Snopes wrote. “However, it does not show a handcuffed child detained at Dulles in January 2017; it shows a handcuffed child detained at school in August 2015.” propaganda machine

After the debunking, news stories from major outlets began to disappear from the web. A story published by Yahoo News disappeared. Google News results Tuesday brought up a Jan. 31 Yahoo News piece headlined: “5-Year Old Iranian-American Boy Handcuffed, Held at Dulles.” A click on the story link brings up a “page not found” message. A story in the United Kingdom’s The Independent apparently mentioned handcuffs; now it does not.

Some stories and editorials did not make a correction. The Baltimore Sun still hasn’t corrected an opinion piece by Chris Edelson, a professor at American University, who makes the claim. The left-wing AlterNet made the claim as recently as Tuesday afternoon, well after Snopes debunked the story.

Dr. Sebastian Gorka, a foreign policy adviser to Trump, could not comment about the issue on Tuesday when approached by LifeZette. But earlier in the day, Gorka told a caller during “The Michael Medved Show” that fake news is indeed being used against Trump for political reasons, going back months before the election.

“Every single organ that generates these kinds of stories comes from the same clique of media organs that predicted that Hillary would win and that Brexit wouldn’t occur,” said Gorka. “I know what fake news is. And it’s coming from those organizations.”

A longtime conservative media watchdog said accuracy is being tossed aside in a rush to zing Trump, and America’s enemies are using some of the claims.

“It appears that more media fake news is now being used as a propaganda tool by the anti-American loons who run Iran,” said Dan Gainor, vice resident of Business and Culture at the Media Research Center. “This is what happens when news media operate on their own bizarre version of publish or perish. Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) used its headquarters in Mosul to make chemical weapons, the Pentagon announced January 7, reported Al-Monitor.

Coalition forces, in their steady assault to retake the Iraqi city, found chemicals inside the university, which the terror group had claimed as its control center.

The university was liberated last month. Booby traps set by the jihadis in the heavily-damaged buildings made a thorough investigation difficult. However, tests confirmed the university was “central to the ISIS chemical weapons program,” stated Pentagon Spokesman Navy Captain Jeff Davis. “They have received positive samples; that is indeed what was going on there.”

Davis said the chemical, sulphur mustard, was “used primarily as an irritant and something to scare people,” rather than an agent of death.

Since the beginning of the assault on Mosul in October, coalition forces have captured most of the eastern parts of the city. The western part of the city still remains in ISIS hands.against-america

RTD Officer Killed in Denver

This past Tuesday night a sad story played out in downtown Denver, Colorado that didn’t get much coverage in the national media. A private security guard who works for a company that the city of Denver employs to help commuters get around the city, was murdered late Tuesday night by a man who police describe as a “radical Muslim.”

Scott Von Lanken, 56, worked for the Regional Transportation District (or RTD) in Denver along with about 250 other RTD officers. On Tuesday night he was shot and killed while helping two women figure out which light rail route they should be using to get home. The women said while they were speaking a man, identified as 37-year-old Joshua Cummings, walked up behind Von Lanken muttered something and then shot the officer in the neck. Surveillance video caught the crime on tape and Cummings was arrested about 20 minutes later and the murder weapon has also been recovered.culture of deceit and lies

Investigators worry that Von Lanken may have been targeted because he was wearing a uniform and Cummings may have confused him for a police officer.

“This is an incredibly sad day for us, and on behalf of the entire RTD family I extend my prayers and express my sincere condolences to the officer’s family, friends and loved ones,” RTD CEO Dave Genova said on Thursday.

“It’s really disheartening when anyone loses their life, but especially when we have someone out there providing safety to the community at large,” police chief Robert White told the media.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Von Lanken family and his loved ones, but we’re also forced to wonder why this story isn’t getting more coverage across the nation. Yet another homegrown violent Muslim attack on our soil even as liberal Democrats search for new and creative way to import thousands more Muslim migrants. Stories like this should be part of the immigration/refugee conversation.

UK peer Lord Kevin Shinkwin recently spoke out against the unjust abortion laws in the UK that allow disabled children to be aborted right up until the moment of their birth. While the UK’s laws on abortion are more restrictive than the laws in the USA (abortions on a healthy child are only legal until the 24th week), there is a loophole that allows parents to abort their disabled children right until the moment of birth. In an effort to close this loophole, Shinkwin has proffered a bill that would see disabled children treated the same as healthy ones and make abortion after 24 weeks illegal for all children.

In an effort to convince his fellow lawmakers, Shinkwin delivered a brilliant and emotional speech that was sure to win over even the most hardened abortion supporters.

New Trier High School is holding a mandatory All-School Seminar Day on Feb. 28, which is supposed to cover diversity topics. But the program — called “Understanding Today’s Struggle for Racial Civil Rights” — is incredibly flawed. It’s not in the least bit diverse. Instead, it seeks to educate white students about their “inherent bias” — and will feature radical speakers and workshop topics as part of the program.engineering

The high school, in the suburbs north of Chicago on two separate campuses in Winnetka and Northfield, Illinois, has 4,000 students and an annual per-pupil expenditure of $25,000, according to Betsy Hart, a parent with two children in the high school. Hart and other parents have tried to talk to the administration about their concerns over the program, including the paid speakers at the event who have a radical agenda.

For example, Monica Trinidad, who is scheduled to teach a class called, “We Charge Genocide: An Emergence of a Continued Movement,” once posted to Twitter a picture of police on horseback with the caption, “Get them animals off those horses.” Her other divisive posts included a picture of her self-described “light reading” of a book entitled, “Conspiracy to Riot in Furtherance of Terrorism.”gag me

Planned topics during Seminar Day for these high school students include: “Disney and Racial Stereotypes,” “Tracing Food Inequality: Food Deserts In Chicago,” and “Understanding Implicit Bias: Being Biased Doesn’t Make You a Bad Person.”

“A perusal of the list of workshops being offered makes it clear this will be more about white privilege and less about solutions,” said Hart, who notes that the student body of New Trier is about 80 percent white. “They [the administration] are not really interested in challenging the kids — we want them to think for themselves, and we want diverse discussions. Let’s also talk to some black ministers who are doing amazing work to reach kids before they join gangs. If we teach that all racial disparities are systemic racism — that means you can never talk about the things that would really help the black community. It’s a real lost opportunity.”Death of a nation

Chicago attorney Joseph Morris described the seminar to Illinoisfamily.org as “a rather bold and raw effort at hard-left propaganda with decidedly anti-American, anti-free-market, anti-family, anti-parent, and bigoted biases on display.”

Concerned parents have created the website Parentsofnewtrier.org. They’re suggesting qualified alternative speakers and explaining their issues with Seminar Day.

“Peer review studies (e.g., from the Harvard Business Review in 2016) increasingly show that diversity programs like this create more harm than they do good, because they reinforce racial stereotypes and resentments,” the website notes.

Parents have tried to get involved — only to be shut out by the school. 

“I called the school and offered ideas — I said, ‘Great, if you’re going to do this, I have some people I think could speak to these issues that I didn’t see it last year,'” said Hart. (A very similar program was held on Martin Luther King Day last year, and many students stayed home.) “People who could cover entrepreneurship, choice in education, how we stem the tide of violence and gangs — a lot of what actually goes into the disparity between blacks and whites.”

Hart said she was told by a vice principal that the program for the day was “put together by faculty and students.”

“I asked, ‘What about parental input?’ And he said, ‘That’s just not how we do this.'”What did you say 06.jpg

LifeZette called the New Trier High School administration for comment, but did not hear back as of publication time.

Hart and other parents don’t want to do away with Seminar Day — they simply want more balance inserted into the program, or for the school to postpone it until that happens.

“Parents have to know the bias of [the program] — and the lack of really good information,” she said. “We have Chicago just a few miles away. These city kids are getting murdered, and 80 percent are African-Americans. It’s a horrible situation. An area that was once thriving with African-American businesses and culture is now devastated by violence, and we’re up here on the north shore diverting half a million dollars of resources to talk about white privilege?”

Hart identifies the obvious departure from the school’s communications model when it comes to Seminar Day.

“The school [usually] loves to alert parents — you have to sign off on their coursework for the year, and I just signed something last night that said I had seen grades, and there are permission slips all the time. But with Seminar Day, there was no mechanism through which the parent could be informed and involved in the panels the kids are choosing. No mechanism to know what my child has chosen, or to help direct their choosing. And if it’s happening at New Trier, it’s probably happening in similar ways all over the country,” said Hart.

Parents questioning the event also question a link to the radical progressive group S.E.E.D. The Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity Project” is a national organization that trains educators and students on race from an “identity politics” viewpoint, including “oppression” and “white privilege.”

“One of the people coordinating the conference at New Trier is also on the staff at S.E.E.D.,” said Hart. “I’m sure she does a great job, but it’s concerning to us that she is connected to this messaging of white privilege and radical progressivism.”engineering2

Parents could excuse their kids for the day if they object to the proposed material, but “if [their kids] are like mine — very involved in theater and sports — if you excuse them for the day, they don’t get to participate in sports that night,” said Hart.

This agenda-laden, unbalanced, and ultimately unenlightening program is on the taxpayer dime, and has been in the works for months. “It’s costing half a million dollars, and it’s a huge drain of resources,” said Hart. “It’s not just the day. It’s the lead-up, the time that teachers and admin are putting into it — the extreme focus on this. When they say, ‘We want kids to be critical thinkers,’ well, no, they don’t — they are offering nothing but clichés and different iterations of the word ‘racist.’ It is said more than 75 times in the program,” Hart continued.

“We are excited about what could be done with this type of seminar day — but they’re calling the program ‘courageous,’ and as it stands now, it’s not.”

Trump administration giving final green light to Dakota Access pipeline

The Army Corps of Engineers will grant the final approval needed to complete the controversial Dakota Access oil pipeline as soon as Wednesday, it told lawmakers Tuesday. The news from the Army Corps, in letters to Congress and to a federal judge in Washington, D.C., came two weeks after President Trump issued a memo asking the agency to approve the pipeline as soon as possible.

The Army Corps also told the court that it will no longer complete an intensive environmental impact statement on the pipeline, an action the Obama administration decided to take in December that would have delayed the project for potentially a year or more.

The decision is a major victory for pipeline developer Energy Transfer Partners and the oil industry and a defeat for environmentalists and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Transfer told the federal judge Monday that that it could take as little as 60 days to finish the pipeline once it gets the Army Corps easement, Reuters reported.

The easement allows Energy Transfer to build the line under federally owned Lake Oahe in North Dakota. The pipeline, when complete, will run in North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and Illinois. Its construction is substantially complete, with the Lake Oahu portion behind the last major hurdle. The approval had been held up for months amid objections from the Standing Rock Sioux, whose reservation abuts the lake. The tribe said the pipeline threatens its water supply. The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe outlined its plans to fight against the pipeline in a statement on Tuesday, saying it would continue litigation against the project and urge policymakers in Washington oppose it.

“We are a sovereign nation and we will fight to protect our water and sacred places from the brazen private interests trying to push this pipeline through to benefit a few wealthy Americans with financial ties to the Trump administration,” tribal chairman David Archambault said in a statement.

Tribal lawyers have insisted Trump administration officials cannot overturn the December decision, and a lawyer for the tribe called such a decision “unlawful” during a Monday court hearing, according to Reuters. Standing Rock’s concerns blossomed into a months long protest with thousands of people from around the world at the construction site urging the federal government to cancel the project. It quickly became a flashpoint for environmentalists and indigenous-rights advocates, who accused the federal government of ignoring the Standing Rock Sioux’s objections.

But the oil industry and Republicans rallied behind Energy Transfer and said that former President Obama’s delays of the project threatened the rule of law.

Jan Hasselman, an attorney with Earthjustice who represents the Standing Rock tribe, said the Trump administration’s action is illegal and threatened court action over it.
“The Obama administration correctly found that the tribe’s treaty rights must be respected, and that the easement should not be granted without further review and consideration of alternative crossing locations. Trump’s reversal of that decision continues a historic pattern of broken promises to Indian tribes and a violation of treaty rights,” he said in a statement.Leftist Propagandist

Remember when Democrats predicted the imminent decline of the GOP? The theory was that Republicans were so out of touch with women and ethnic minorities that they would soon be relegated to the status of a “permanent minority” — supported only by Southern white men and incapable of recapturing the White House.

Donald Trump’s victory has put an end to this fantasy. Now it’s the Democrats who are facing their own “doomsday” scenario.

A recent analysis conducted by Third Way — a self-described “centrist” think tank — argues that Democrats are evolving into a “coastal” party. They have strong bases in California, New York and Massachusetts but are slowly ceding the rest of the country to Republicans.

Third Way compared 2016 election results in the two areas and found an astounding asymmetry:

In California, New York and Massachusetts, home to roughly 24 million voters, voters chose Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump by a large margin, 65% to 35%.

But in the remaining 47 states, home to 105 million voters, voters broke for Trump by a decisive 52% to 48% margin.

The geographic concentration of the pro-Hillary vote is one reason Clinton’s supposed popular vote “victory” rings so hollow. Clinton ran up the score in a liberal state like California, where she bested Trump by some 4.3 million votes. But that single-state advantage is simply not reflective of the broader national pattern, which favored Trump, Third Way found.

Recent voting patterns in Congress point to another disastrous trend for Democrats: They are fast becoming a “two-region” party. Democrats have a 3-1 lead over the GOP in California, New York and Massachusetts and a 3-1 lead over Republicans in the Pacific Northwest and the Mid-Atlantic (also known as the “Acela Corridor”). However, those regions account for less than 20% of the total numbers of House members.

By contrast, if you focus on the American South, the Heartland, and the Southwest — about 80% of the country — the GOP leads Democrats by more than 2-1. Overall, that translates into a decisive GOP advantage in the House of Representatives — one that is not likely to shift anytime soon.

There are other powerful signs that the Democrats are losing their grip on power.

The vast majority of state legislatures — 32, a record — are in GOP hands, as are a majority of the state houses. And Democrats face enormous challenges in the U.S. Senate in 2018 because they must defend at least 10 seats in states that Trump won in 2016 — while the GOP occupies virtually none that are considered vulnerable to reversal.

One bellwether contest will be the battle of liberal Sen. Elizabeth Warren for re-election in Massachusetts. A recent statewide poll found that 46% of voters would support someone else for her seat — her weakest showing yet.Happy Happy Joy Joy

Other vulnerable Senate Democrats include party stalwarts like North Dakota’s Heidi Heitkamp, Missouri’s Claire MCCaskill, Montana’s Jon Tester, and even Clinton’s running mate, Tim Kaine, in Virginia. One top Democratic strategist recently told Politico Magazine“It’s going to be a disaster.”

Another major quandary for Democrats is their national leadership. Without Obama at the helm, the party has fallen prey to fierce ideological, gender and ethnic divisions. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) managed to impose herself as party leader yet again, beating back a powerful challenge from Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH), who blamed Pelosi and her ardent followers, many of them dependent on her fundraising support, for leading Democrats astray.

Since then, the party has found itself increasingly divided over the nomination of Muslim Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) to become Democratic National Committee chair. Former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders and more recently, former vice-president Joe Biden have joined the fray, but each supports a different candidate, further complicating the dispute. It’s becoming a race to the bottom. Ellison and his emerging rival Tom Perez, Obama’s former labor secretary, are virtual unknowns outside the party. Sanders and Biden, who might have fared better against Trump than Clinton, are too old to lead the Democrats moving forward. Warren herself will be 71 in 2024.

The party could well find itself without a viable White House challenger to Trump in 2020.Happy Happy Joy Joy

And then there’s the Supreme Court. Trump has just announced his candidate to replace Judge Antonin Scalia, Neil Gorsuch. A staunch conservative who once clerked for Anthony Kennedy, the leading “swing” vote on the Court, he’s hard to pigeon-hole politically. And despite threats to block Gorsuch, the Democrats have become victims of their own hubris. Under Obama, they altered the rules so that only 51 Senate votes were needed to confirm a judicial appointee. The Republicans now have 52, making Gorsuch a shoo-in.

For the GOP, regaining a 5-4 majority in the Supreme Court would amount to a political crown jewel: The party will dominate every branch and level of government for the first time in modern history. For Democrats, who’ve grown accustomed to having their way in national politics, it’s like staring into the abyss.Happy Happy Joy Joy

Conservatives and religious groups are calling on President Donald Trump to stand firm on a draft executive order asserting the federal government recognize religious freedom as not only the right to worship but the right to express one’s religion.

The draft of the executive order, reportedly called “Establishing a Government-Wide Initiative to Respect Religious Freedom,” tells federal agencies to accommodate religious practices “to the greatest extent practicable and permitted by law,” would no longer require religious employers such as Little Sisters of the Poor to violate their beliefs by providing contraception and abortion-inducing drugs to employees, and prohibits penalizing employees because of personal religious views.picture7

But after the draft leaked, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders told ABC News on Wednesday, “We do not have plans to sign anything at this time but will let you know when we have any updates.”

The Nation, a liberal magazine, first reported on a leaked version of the draft, prompting some liberal and LGBT groups to attack the order.

Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage, wrote:

Let’s make it clear to President Trump: you were not elected by gay activists, you were elected by people of faith (81 percent support among evangelicals and 52 percent among Catholics). Do not throw people of faith under the bus in order to curry favor with LGBT groups and the leftist media …

President Trump seems focused on fixing the so-called Johnson Amendment that prevents pastors from endorsing candidates and preaching about partisan politics. That’s fine as far as it goes, but this is a much smaller concern than protecting actual religious liberty and preventing people from being discriminated against by the government simply because they are pro-marriage, pro-life and live out biblical principles in their daily lives. The Johnson Amendment has never been enforced, not even by President [Barack] Obama who was openly hostile to religious conservatives and is far less of a priority.


Gregory S. Baylor, the senior counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom, a religious liberty legal group, strongly backs the draft order, noting that during the 2016 president campaign, Trump said that the “first priority of my administration will be to preserve and protect our religious liberty.”

Baylor said:

The president appears to be following through on that promise so that all Americans can exercise their constitutionally protected freedoms without fear of being maligned and discriminated against by the cultural and political elites. The executive order being discussed simply reaffirms the American commitment to the First Amendment and requires the government to respect its legal and constitutional obligation to ensure that Americans are free to peacefully live and work consistent with their beliefs without being punished by the government.picture8

Trump reiterated support for religious freedom during his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday.

“I want to express clearly today to the American people that my administration will do everything in its power to defend and protect religious liberty in our land,” Trump said. “America must forever remain a tolerant society where all faiths are respected, and where all of our citizens can feel safe and secure. We have to feel safe and secure.”picture9

In a commentary earlier this week on The Daily Signal, Ryan T. Anderson, a senior research fellow at The Heritage Foundation, called for Trump not to give into “fearmongering” from the left. He wrote:

But the president should not cave. He should stand up to the liberal outrage and hostility to ordinary American values that fueled his rise in the first place.

The executive order is good, lawful public policy. And it makes good on several promises then-candidate Trump made to his supporters.

In a statement Friday, Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, said:

It properly recognizes that religion should not be confined to a home or house of worship alone, but to ‘all activities of life,’ such as those that involve social services, education, health care, employment, obtaining ‘grants or contracts,’ or otherwise participating in the ‘public square.’ Religious expression has every right to exist in the public square as do other forms of expression … The free exercise of religion has suffered greatly under the policies and orders of President Obama. I am confident that the Trump administration will protect this first and most fundamental freedom.

Vice President Mike Pence makes no secret of his faith. He has often said of himself, “I’m a Christian, a conservative, and a Republican. In that order.” His faith is the foundation of his political convictions, the root from which governance grows.

Donald Trump shored up his evangelical Christian support with the choice of Pence for vice president. During the tumultuous campaign, many conservatives took confidence in the partnership the two men forged.

As President Trump said at the National Prayer Breakfast last week, “Every time I was in a little trouble with something, where they were questioning me, they’d say, ‘But he picked Mike Pence, so he has to know what he’s doing.’”

Pence is staunchly and persuasively pro-life. During the lone vice presidential debate, it was Mike Pence in his determined but gentle demeanor who cited Jeremiah 1:5 to Tim Kaine. While discussing the sanctity of life, Kaine — a practicing Catholic —attempted to justify abortion as a reproductive choice. Pence politely but forcefully said, quoting Scripture, “‘Before you were formed in the womb, I knew you.’”

A recent FaithWire article detailed a private meeting held last Wednesday evening before the Prayer Breakfast. Pence shared that the Bible verse Jeremiah 29:11 hangs above his mantle. It states, “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Pence grew up in an Irish-Catholic family of Democrats. It was while he was in college that he “gave [his] life to Jesus Christ and that changed everything.” He met his wife at church — they have now been married for more than 30 years — and attended Mass regularly until the mid-’90s.

He often described himself as an “evangelical Catholic,” but eventually he began referring to himself as an “ordinary Christian” instead. Regardless of his personal references, he stands for traditional Christian values — including religious freedom, pro-life causes, and traditional marriage.

At the same private gathering, Pence also shared a specific verse that means a great deal to him, both personally and for this country. The passage 2 Chronicles 7:14 reads, “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” This is a verse of contrition, mercy, and restoration. God promises Solomon that He will remain faithful to His people, if only His people will repent. 

Many reporters have commented that Vice President Pence has avoided discussing his faith in recent years. However, it appears that in such interviews Pence is merely attempting to explain in simple terms the miracle of personal conversion, which is often inexplicable. He is both a man who values his Catholic upbringing but also someone who experienced a moment of realization that he needed Christ as his Savior. And that realization altered his faith and therefore the influence his faith has had over his life and career.

In 2012, Pence told the IndyStar, “I would say that my Christian faith and my relationship with Karen are the two most dominant influences in my life today.” Pence spent his time in Congress and his years governing the state of Indiana with conviction according to his biblical beliefs. Now, as vice president, he will have the opportunity to influence the country with faith as his influence.amen

The Supreme Court could decide as early as Monday whether to review an appellate court decision striking down North Carolina’s law requiring voters to show photo identification at the polls. The ruling by the Richmond-based 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals was something of an outlier in the ongoing war over voter ID laws, finding not just that the statute disproportionately impacted minorities but that lawmakers had acted intentionally to suppress minority voters.

“Although the new provisions target African-Americans with almost surgical precision, they constitute inapt remedies for the problems assertedly justifying them and, in fact, impose cures for problems that did not exist,” U.S. Circuit Judge Diana Gribbon Motz wrote in an opinion signed by all three judges on the appeals panel. “Thus the asserted justifications cannot and do not conceal the  State’s true motivation.”more-leftist-propaganda

If the high court decides not to hear the case, it will leave North Carolina without a photo ID law. If the justices do take the case and adopt the reasoning of the appeals court, it could jeopardize voter ID laws elsewhere — particularly in Southern states that previously had to get advance go-ahead from the Justice Department under the Voting Rights Act to make even minor changes to voting rules.

The Public Interest Legal Foundation, which filed a friend-of-the-court brief in favor of North Carolina’s law, argues that the justices should lay down a clear marker that states are within their rights to require identification to ensure the integrity of elections.more-leftist-propaganda

“Voter ID works just about wherever it’s tried,” said Logan Churchwell, a spokesman for the group.

North Carolina passed the law in 2013. In addition to the ID requirement, it also eliminated same-day voter registration, scaled back early voting dates, prohibited voters from casting ballots in the wrong precinct, and eliminated straight-ticked voting, requiring voters to mark their choices in each race individually. It provided a free photo ID card for anyone who stated he could not obtain a driver’s license.amen

Even before the Supreme Court weighs in on the appeal, Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper could try to short-circuit the law by withdrawing the appeal. He refused to defend the law in court when he was the attorney general.

“Gov. Cooper continues to oppose this law and believes we should make it easier, not harder, for people to exercise their right to vote,” gubernatorial spokeswoman Noelle Talley told WRAL-TV in Raleigh last week. We’re currently reviewing this case inherited from the prior administration.” Attorney General Josh Stein, also a Democrat, issued a similar statement.

Even if both pull out, though, the Republican-controlled legislature could appoint its own attorney to pursue the appeal.

Meanwhile, it is possible the federal government might switch sides, as well. The Justice Department of former President Obama had been supporting the plaintiffs. But President Donald Trump’s administration might reach a different conclusion.

The Justice Department filed its brief in support of the plaintiffs one day before Trump’s inauguration — 11 days before the deadline. It is similar to an attempt by Obama’s outgoing administration to kill a lawsuit accusing the IRS of improperly targeting conservative nonprofit groups.

In its legal brief in the North Carolina case, the Public Interest Legal Foundation argues that the appeals court applied the wrong standard in evaluating the state’s law. The judges used a standard under the Voting Rights Act that placed the burden of proof on North Carolina and other states tainted by discriminatory practices in the past to show that electoral system changes were race-neutral. But the Supreme Court struck down that portion of the Voting Rights Act in 2013, holding that the formula for determining whether jurisdictions should be subject to so-called “preclearance” was outdated.

 

As a result, attorneys J. Christian Adams and Kaylan Phillips argue in their brief, the appeals court should have used the legal standard that applies to every other state under the Voting Rights Act. That would have put the burden on the plaintiffs to demonstrate discriminatory intent.

“That standard requires a far more robust showing than a statistical demonstration that a given minority might be less likely to be able to vote at a certain time, use a particular voting practice more often than non-minorities, or possess certain types of documentation at different rates,” the brief states.

Churchwell, the spokesman for the Public Interest Legal Foundation, predicted the issue will not go away, even if the justices pass on taking the case. Different courts have used different standards to evaluate voter ID laws, he said. What’s more, he added, issues like redistricting that must take place every 10 years also could be affected.

“If they don’t take this case, we will continue to have that split,” he said. “This is bigger than North Carolina. It’s bigger than voter ID … If this ruling takes hold, it’s going to cause a whole lot of problems in a few years when redistricting comes along.”

More than a dozen lawsuits and counting have been filed against President Donald Trump’s executive order that temporarily blocks visas from Iraq, Iran, Syria, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, and Yemen. Looking beyond the handful of emotional personal stories that are gaining the media’s sympathy, there is a more predictable political power dynamic at play. The lawsuits largely stem from organizations bankrolled by billionaire leftist George Soros and Democratic state attorneys general.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who has carried out a political vendetta against Trump, led 15 other state attorneys general in a joint statement condemning what they called an “unconstitutional, un-American and unlawful executive order.” The Democratic AGs also said, “Religious liberty has been, and always will be, a bedrock principle of our country and no president can change that truth,” a curious statement from the party that targeted the Little Sisters of the Poor.more-leftist-propaganda

Schneiderman, as well as Democratic attorneys general in Virginia and Massachusetts, intervened in existing lawsuits. The lawsuit brought by Washington State Attorney General Robert Ferguson has achieved the most success, bringing the case that blocked the order nationwide.

The lawsuit convinced a federal judge of the state’s standing on the claim the order is “separating Washington families, harming thousands of Washington residents, damaging Washington’s economy, hurting Washington-based companies and undermining Washington’s sovereign interest in remaining a welcoming place for immigrants and refugees.”more-leftist-propaganda

Judge Blocks Immigration Order Nationwide

Democrats are even raising money off the lawsuits. In a Facebook post, the Democratic Attorneys General Association said, “Stand with Attorney General Bob Ferguson and all Democratic State Attorneys General fighting for what’s right!” It added, “Chip in to support Democratic AGs fighting for progressive rights and freedoms.”picture3

Outside of the politicians, Soros’ Open Society Foundations, which advocates for open borders, is financing several advocacy groups that initiated litigation against the order.

Leading the way in these lawsuits in several states is the American Civil Liberties Union, which has gotten at least $35.5 million from the Open Society Foundations, according to the Capital Research Center, a Washington think tank that investigates nonprofits.

Soros also gave $4.6 million to the National Immigration Law Center, which has been involved in litigation, according to the CRC; and $621,000 to the Urban Justice Center, which has an appendage known as the International Refugee Assistance Project that has jumped into the lawsuits, according to the CRC.picture4

Flooding the country with Muslim aliens who won’t assimilate is one way to do that.”

In a Seattle suit, separate from the Washington State case, ABC News reported the American Immigration Council, the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, and the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild filed a class action complaint on behalf of lawful permanent residents that want their immediate family members that are citizens of the seven countries be able to enter the United States.

Soros’ Open Society Foundations gave $425,000 to the American Immigration Council from 2011 through 2013, according to the CRC, which shows Soros’ group also gave at least $50,000 to the National Lawyers Guild.

The fact that a lawsuit is politically motivated doesn’t mean it lacks legal merits. Republican attorneys general and conservative groups challenged the Obama administration’s executive actions. But as the media plays up emotional stories, no one should try to divorce politics from these legal maneuvers.

America’s recent foreign policy justifying preemptive strikes — but only those by America — has undermined the legitimacy of U.S. supremacy, Soros said, while the branding of American protesters as unpatriotic undermines the foundations of our democracy.

Well, he has ties to not one, but FIFTY groups that participated in the march. And we all know about his ties to the election recount and BLM riots.

Looks like some liberals need to do some fact checking before they sling insults around.

Over the past couple of weeks, Live Action has released new investigative videos — shedding light on the true nature of what goes on at Planned Parenthood.

While the organization attempts to market itself as dedicated to women’s health care, it seems that if a pregnant mom actually wants to keep her baby, then Planned Parenthood is not the place to go. In a new video, undercover journalists are shown calling 68 Planned Parenthoods around the country — and only three of them agree to do an ultrasound to check the health of the unborn baby.

“No, we don’t do any ultrasounds for prenatal care. We do them when we’re doing abortion-monsterabortions, but not for any other reason,” said a Planned Parenthood worker from Council Bluffs, Iowa.

“No. Nope. Not — not something we offer. Well, we do have to do an ultrasound with an abortion, but we don’t offer them for — we can’t do anything to make sure that the pregnancy’s fine,” said an employee at a St. Louis, Missouri, Planned Parenthood.

“We only do ultrasounds if you are terminating,” explained a staff member at a Corning, New York, Planned Parenthood.

“I anticipate Planned Parenthood will respond as it usually does by denying the findings of this investigation,” said Lila Rose, the president and founder of Live Action in a statement. “That’s why I encourage media outlets to contact any of the 68 centers that Live Action did — or any others — and ask them if they offer ultrasounds to check the baby’s health if a mother wants to carry her baby to term. The media will find results similar to ours.”

Religious conservatives’ gamble on President Trump is paying off.

The last several days have brought a slew of victories for evangelicals, many of whom set aside their reservations about Trump to back him during the presidential campaign.

From the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, to Trump’s affirmation of support for allowing tax-exempt churches to engage in politics, to the appointment of Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. to an education task force, evangelicals are seeing the new president quickly deliver on a number of fronts.

“I never doubted his sincerity or his commitment. There were, obviously, those who did. Not just in the evangelical community or in the faith community, but more broadly,” said Ralph Reed, the chairman of the Faith & Freedom Coalition.

“Certainly even for those doubters, this week has laid any of those concerns to rest.”

Trump, a thrice-married business mogul who once expressed support for abortion rights, hardly fit the mold of a conventional conservative candidate. Some evangelicals were hesitant to fully embrace Trump, particularly after a leaked “Access Hollywood” video showed him bragging about using his celebrity to get away with touching women without their consent. He dismissed the tape as mere “locker room talk.”

Yet Trump won the voting bloc decisively in the election, with 80 percent of white evangelicals supporting him over Hillary Clinton, according to an exit poll conducted by NBC News.

Trump is repaying their support in spades, with promises to repeal the Johnson amendment, which prevents tax-exempt religious organizations from engaging in political activity, and his nomination of a conservative jurist to the Supreme Court.

“I think if you really go back and you look at the campaign, it’s undeniable. He received an astonishing 81 percent of the evangelical vote in no small measure because of ironclad commitments he made that were explicit and unambiguous in areas of policy and personnel,” Reed said.

Religious conservatives in Congress are eager to capitalize on having an ally in the White House. On the same day Trump reaffirmed support for getting rid of the Johnson amendment, Rep. Jody Hice (R-Ga.) and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) introduced legislation to do just that.  While Trump declared he’d “totally destroy” the law, Hice and Scalise’s bill would allow only political activity by tax-exempt religious organizations in limited circumstances, though they would still be banned from giving to campaigns.  Hice told The Hill he expects his bill to come up for a vote in the House sometime in the near future, though a specific timeline hasn’t been finalized.

“We have great momentum,” Hice, a Southern Baptist pastor, said of Trump’s support. “I think that this is going to send a great, positive message to the evangelical community throughout the country that strongly supported him.”

It hasn’t been entirely smooth sailing, however. Trump this week announced he’d uphold an Obama-era executive order prohibiting federal contractors from discriminating against workers on the basis of sexual orientation.  Former President Obama’s 2014 order stirred fierce debate in the House last year when Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-N.Y.) offered amendments to annual spending bills to ensure the order’s enforcement. Its adoption caused one spending bill to collapse on the floor, in large part because of Republicans who opposed the amendment.

Trump, the first GOP presidential candidate to mention the LGBTQ community at a party nominating convention, made a point of emphasizing his support for gay rights when announcing he’d keep Obama’s order in place.

“President Trump continues to be respectful and supportive of LGBTQ rights, just as he was throughout the election,” the White House said in a statement.

Conservatives expressed disappointment in Trump’s move, though they are still hopeful he will sign an executive order to ban retaliation against religious groups and businesses opposed to gay marriage.

“Trump can and should protect all Americans from violence and oppression, but he should not go along with Obama’s policies of elevating ‘sexual orientation and gender identity’ to a protected class,” Heritage Foundation senior research fellow Ryan Anderson wrote.

But it’s Trump’s selection of Gorsuch for the Supreme Court that has generated the most excitement among religious conservatives.  One of Gorsuch’s most notable rulings was siding with Hobby Lobby and the Little Sisters of the Poor in 2013, when they challenged a provision in the healthcare law requiring them to include contraceptive coverage in their employees’ insurance plans. The Supreme Court eventually ruled in a 5-4 decision a year later that closely held for-profit corporations should be exempted for the contraceptive mandate if its owners have religious objections.

“Things that he promised, he followed through on. The biggest one being this past week with the Supreme Court,” said Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.), another Southern Baptist pastor serving in Congress.

“I mean, when you look at that from all rounds and all sides, especially from the professional conservative point of view, the court pick was the one that I think helped voters come through [for] Trump.”

I find it rather humorous that the progressive socialist left is up in arms because Christians from the Middle East are receiving priority entry into the United States. Funny, we heard nothing from the left when these same Christians were being refused entry, and many — Assyrians, Chaldeans, and Copts — had family already established here in America.

It appears that the left has deemed insidious protected status for Muslims, not realizing no foreign national has a right to enter the United States. It is a privilege that we as Americans reserve the right to deny, and our president has the enumerated power to restrict, for concerns of the safety of our citizens. Sadly, folks like the progressive socialist left in America, along with Angela Merkel in Germany, don’t comprehend that.

Muslims — protected. Christians? Not so much. And it appears to be getting much worse very close to home.

The Christian Post reports, The United States has for the first time been named among the top 12 nations where Christians are targeted for their faith by a persecution watchdog group in its “Hall of Shame” report for 2016. www.persecution.org/persecutionnl/2017-01/ICC 2016 Hall of Shame Report.pdf

“We felt it was very important this year that we highlight three countries where religious discrimination and persecution are deemed unusual but have reached a certain threshold of concern. These are Mexico, Russia, and sadly, the United States,” explained in a press release Jeff King, president of International Christian Concern. 

“While conditions in the US are in no way comparable to other countries on the list, a certain segment of the culture and the courts seem to be intent on driving faith out of the public square. There have been too many court cases with bad decisions to miss the clear trend line.” 

The ICC report divides the 12 countries into three categories. Nigeria, Iraq, Syria and North Korea were listed among “the worst of the worst”. India, China, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt were listed as “core” countries of persecution. Finally, the U.S., Mexico, and Russia were identified as “new and noteworthy” nations where Christians are facing increased persecution.”

Another report on Christian persecution doesn’t yet include the U.S., but the list is noteworthy for another reason.

As reported by the Christian Post, Persecution watchdog group Open Doors USA has ranked the top 50 most dangerous places for Christians in the world today in its 2017 World Watch List, with North Korea once again topping the list. 

“For Christians in the West, the Open Doors World Watch List is a clear indicator that we need to advocate on behalf of those who do not have the same religious freedom privileges we do,” said David Curry, president and CEO of Open Doors USA. “We hope the Trump administration will address religious liberties in the first 100 days in office.” 

Open Doors revealed that persecution rose globally for a third year in a row, with countries in South and Southeast Asia rising rapidly in danger levels, almost matching the severe persecution Christians face in the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa. The watchdog group estimated that close to 215 million Christians experience “high, very high or extreme persecution” in the countries that made the top 50 ranking.

Researchers with Open Doors used a points-based scale to rank the worst persecutors of Christians around the world, with the top 10 list going as follows:
1. North Korea (92 points)
2. Somalia (91 points)
3. Afghanistan (89 points)
4. Pakistan (88 points)
5. Sudan (87 points)
6. Syria (86 points)
7. Iraq (86 points)
8. Iran (85 points)
9. Yemen (85 points)
10. Eritrea (82 points)

Did you notice? Six of the seven countries listed in President Trump’s (and Barack Obama’s) executive order as “terrorist hot spots” are in the top ten worst countries for persecution of Christians…and the liberal progressive media outrage is, wait for it…crickets.

“As in past years, Islamic extremism remained the top driver of Christian persecution, and was the primary reason for the oppression of Christians in 35 out of the 50 nations listed. North Korea and its secretive government, which outlaws even owning a Bible and carries out imprisonment and executions of Christians, remained in the top spot for the 15th year.”

I tend to believe the Christians residing in these countries would celebrate exuberantly if they were afforded the simple freedom of religion that others enjoy here in America. And these are often historically older communities that have existed long before. I guess we need to ship some “coexist” bumper stickers overseas to these countries. Why is it that we have become so subservient and allowed this to happen while we create false narratives and embrace an absurd level of political correctness? We appear abjectly weak.

Just ask Oregonians Aaron and Melissa Klein who once owned Sweet Cakes by Melissa about state-sponsored persecution of Christians. It never happens quickly, but slowly — almost imperceptibly. And we need to pray the tide is turning.

The U.S. slapped new sanctions on Iran on Friday after the Trump administration signaled it wanted to punish Tehran for its latest ballistic missile test.

The Treasury Department announced that 13 people and 12 companies face new restrictions, including several entities that support the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and help the Iranian government procure materials for its missile program.

The individuals and companies — based in Iran, China, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates — are banned from doing business with U.S. institutions or American citizens.

Foreign nationals who provide support for them could be subject to additional U.S. sanctions, a senior administration official said.President Trump and his top aides have said they won’t tolerate provocative acts like the missile test that occurred Sunday, calling it a violation of a United Nations Security Council resolution. The White House also included Iran on a list of nations whose citizens face a temporary ban on travel to the U.S.  The more aggressive posture is a departure from the approach of former President Barack Obama, who sought closer ties with Tehran.

“Iran is playing with fire — they don’t appreciate how ‘kind’ President Obama was to them. Not me!” Trump tweeted Friday morning.

Two days earlier, national security adviser Michael Flynn made a rare appearance before the White House press corps to announce the administration is putting Iran “on notice.”  The approach has been cheered by national security hawks and congressional Republicans who criticized Obama for taking what they said was too soft of an approach toward Iran.

“This swift and decisive response proves that our new administration is serious about holding the Iranian regime accountable for its illicit behavior,” Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said in a statement.

Trump’s move also escalated tensions with Iran, which has said the missile tests are within their rights to conduct.

“Iran unmoved by threats as we derive security from our people. We’ll never initiate war, but we can only rely on our own means of defense,” Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif wrote on Twitter before the announcement.

While Trump has taken a tougher rhetorical line against Iran, Friday’s sanctions are similar to penalties imposed by Obama in response to Iran’s previous ballistic missile tests.

The decision to issue sanctions came after a review by the White House and agencies, officials said. While the Treasury Department has long researched new Iranian targets for sanctions, one official said “the launch of the missile was the triggering event.”

But the new punishments come after the Iran nuclear pact took effect last year, in which the U.S. and five nations lifted other sanctions related to the country’s nuclear program.

The Treasury Department said the fresh sanctions are “fully consistent with the United States’ commitments under the” nuclear agreement. 

The U.S. did not reimpose penalties against individuals or entities who had sanctions against them lifted as part of the nuclear deal, a senior administration official said.

The Senate voted Thursday to kill an 11th-hour regulation of the previous administration, stopping new rules restricting coal mining. The 54-45 vote, following House approval Wednesday, sends the resolution to President Donald Trump. Assuming the president signs it, it would be only the second time that lawmakers canceled a regulation under the Congressional Review Act, a 1996 law that gives legislators 60 legislative days to block new regulations from the executive branch.

A veto threat from then-President Obama kept Congress from acting during the past eight years. But there are many regulations adopted in the waning days of the Obama administration that Republicans have in the crosshairs.

“On its way out the door, the Obama administration forced nearly 40 — 40 — major and very costly regulations on the American people,” Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said. “Fortunately, we now have the opportunity to work with the new president to begin bringing relief from those burdensome regulations.”

Trump has made regulatory reform a top priority. Earlier this week, he signed an executive order requiring the repeal of two existing regulations in order to adopt a new one.

After the vote on the coal cleanup regulation, senators began debating a resolution to kill a regulation by the Securities and Exchange Commission to energy companies to disclose the payments they make to foreign governments for natural resources. The Senate will vote on that Friday morning.

The regulation voted down Thursday, known as the Stream Protection Rule, included more than 400 regulatory changes under the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act. The Interior Department finalized the changes in December. Supporters argued the rules would protect 6,000 miles of streams and 52,000 miles of forest by prohibiting mining companies from dumping debris into nearby waters. It narrowed exceptions for a pre-existing 100-foot buffer on coal mining near water.

McConnell called it a “blatant attack on coal miners” and pointed to one study indicating that it would put up to a third of coal-related jobs at risk. He said the Kentucky Coal Association called it a “regulation in search of a problem.”

Sen. Susan Collins, of Maine, was the only Republican to join 44 Democrats in voting “no.” Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) argued that the regulation was necessary to protect the environment.

“Regardless of whether you voted for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, nobody wants to live in a dirty environment where we don’t have clean water, clean rivers, clean streams or clean air,” she said. “Once again, we’re being told to choose between a clean environment and creating jobs.”Bull

Coal-state Democrats, though, broke with their party.

“There’s no one in West Virginia that wants dirty water or dirty air,” said that state’s Democratic senator, Joe Manchin.

The senator said he urged Obama administration officials to consult with affected states. “They did nothing. They would not reach out to us, whatsoever,” he said.

Manchin said the regulation was “excessive and duplicative,” and that it would cripple his state’s businesses and families.

“Tell me, what four hours of the day do you want your electricity to work? What four hours of the day do you want your refrigerator to stay cold?” he said. “What four hours of the day do you want to heat your home? Tell me what four hours of the day that you take for granted that you want that everything and anything you want works 24 hours a day?”

Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) said regulators devised the rules for the Appalachian Mountains region.

“Yet, the former administration made this rule applicable to the entire nation,” she said.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Thursday cited a supposedly grand tradition of requiring Supreme Court nominees to receive 60 votes in order to win confirmation. The facts don’t back him up.

“It’s nonsense,” said Carrie Severino, chief counsel and policy director at the Judicial Crisis Network, which supports Judge Neil Gorsuch’s nomination to the high court. “Anyone who’s followed the Supreme Court for more than five minutes knows that’s not true.”

Schumer’s comments suggest Democrats are prepared to dig in to fight Gorsuch’s nomination by any means necessary. A filibuster would be close to unprecedented, but Schumer attempted to make it seem par for the course.

“We Democrats will insist on a rigorous but fair process,” he said from the Senate floor. “Part of that process entails 60 votes for confirmation. Any one Democrat can require it. Many already have. It was a bar met by each of [former President] Obama’s nominations. Each received 60 votes. And most importantly, it’s the right thing to do.”DELUSIONAL

Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) later picked up on Schumer’s assertion.

“I think he should be subject to the same 60-vote margin that the last few Supreme Court nominees were subjected to,” he said.more-leftist-propaganda

In fact, however, two sitting justices won fewer than 60 votes in their Senate confirmations. Justice Clarence Thomas received 52 votes, and Justice Samuel Alito got 58.

“It’s an arbitrary standard because they just don’t like the nominee,” said Rachel Boyard, an expert at The Heritage Foundation. “It’s wrong for Democrats to say it’s always 60.”

Typically, filibusters have been rare. Democrats tried to launch one against Alito but managed to sustain only 25 votes to keep the delaying tactics going. William Rehnquist also faced filibuster attempts when President Richard Nixon nominated him to the high court in 1971 and then again in 1986 when President Ronald Reagan elevated him to chief justice.

Only once has a Supreme Court nomination been successfully filibustered; President Lyndon Johnson withdrew the nomination of Associate Justice Abe Fortas to become chief justice after a filibuster amid an ethics scandal.

Don’t tell that to Schumer, though. He said a 60-vote threshold ensures a “mainstream” justice.

“Requiring 60 votes has always been the right thing to do on Supreme Court nominations, especially in these polarized times,” he said. “But now in this new era of the court, in this new administration, there is even heavier weight on this tradition.”partyof-deceit-spin-and-lies

Severino said Schumer is conflating the filibuster with ordinary up-or-down votes. Democrats starting employing the tactic against lower-court judges during the George W. Bush administration. But Supreme Court nominations that have been moved to the floor have been granted votes.

“He seems to want a standard of 60 votes for a Republican nominee and 51 votes for a Democratic nominee,” she said. “They’re still throwing a hissy-fit over the election.” 

Schumer argued Thursday that Gorsuch is out of the mainstream and could not be counted on to stand up to business special interests. But Severino and Boyard said it is a hard argument to make with a straight face, given the fact that the Senate confirmed Gorsuch in 2006 for a seat on the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on a voice vote.

It is unclear how unified Democrats will remain as the Gorsuch nomination moves forward. Many Democrats are still seething over the Republican majority’s decision to freeze out Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland to the seat without even holding hearings. But Boyard said she believes some Democrats will want to at least grant Gorsuch a vote, even if they vote against him.

Paul Collins, a professor and director of legal studies at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, said Gorsuch’s credentials are impeccable. “Historically, filibusters are very rare and nominees have been given an up-or-down vote,” said Collins, who co-wrote a book in 2013 on Supreme Court confirmation. “What you’re filibustering, if that’s what they decide to do, is the idea of this being a stolen seat.”

Severino said former Democratic Senate Leader Harry Reid, who eliminated the filibuster for most appointments, indicated that he would not hesitate to expand that rule to cover Supreme Court nominations if necessary.

“They weren’t wringing their hands and hemming and hawing about institutionalism,” she said.

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) could decide to employ the so-called “nuclear option,” if Democrats won’t back down. “It will be Chuck Schumer’s fault if it happens,” Severino said.

Boyard said there is a less extreme option open to Republicans — enforcing the “two speech rule.” Under Rule 19, she said, Republicans can hold each Democrat to two speeches during the Gorsuch confirmation debate. That would mean the Democrats could drag out debate but not ultimately prevent a vote. And it would allow the Senate to keep the filibuster rule, Boyard said.

Carol Costello CNN Trump Prayer Breakfast

I confess that today I was … triggered.

Watching CNN in the office, as is my habit while I work, I heard Carol Costello repeat a common claim made by those on the Left who have zero understanding of the American founding. In this particular segment of “CNN Newsroom,” she asked her guests about something President Trump said while speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast.

The president said that the people in that room were united by their common humanity. “We are not just flesh and bone and blood, we are human beings with souls,” he said. “Our republic was formed on the basis that freedom is not a gift from government, but that freedom is a gift from God.”

And Costello found that strange.

“He said ‘it is God who gave us life and liberty’ … not, of course, the mere men who wrote the Constitution, and came up with the Constitution and our way of government.”More Evidence

As is typical for the Left (and media), Costello fundamentally misunderstands the American founding — the cornerstone principles of the American republic. What exactly were those “mere men” thinking when they put the founding documents of our government together? To understand the philosophy of the United States Constitution, you must first consult the Declaration of Independence.

Thomas Jefferson wrote:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

You see, in the social-compact theory adopted by our Founding Fathers, government does not exist to confer rights upon the people. Those rights preexist government. They are God-given — bestowed upon by the Creator.amen

The role of government, then, is to protect those rights. As the Declaration continues: “That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

A just government acknowledges the natural rights of the people, who have consented to submit themselves to this government’s authority with the understanding that it was instituted to protect their natural rights. When a government fails to protect the natural rights of its people, it is no government at all.

“That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

As Conservative Review Editor-in-Chief Mark Levin wrote in his book, “Ameritopia”: “The Declaration of Independence represents the most prominent, official, consensus position of the Founders’ rationale for declaring independence and, importantly, the philosophical origin of the new country.”

The philosophy of the Declaration was put into practice in the formation of the “new country” — the United States of America. And the country was formed with the United States Constitution. Hillsdale College President Dr. Larry Arnn beautifully describes the “divine” connection between our founding documents in his book,The Founders’ Key: The Divine and Natural Connection Between the Declaration and the Constitution and What We Risk by Losing It”:

A constitution is not only described in the Declaration of Independence; it is necessary to it. The Declaration claims that the people may not be governed except when they have given their consent. They must agree that some particular offices must be occupied by some particular people who may do some particular things. The Declaration describes what kinds those offices ought to be and how they should be related to one another, but it does not provide the offices themselves or any way for their occupants to be selected. A constitution like the one we have is then a necessary element of the American government.

Carol Costello’s double-plus not good idea about our founding is so commonplace that it ranks right up there with the separation of church and state” misnomer. This is also the same tripe that leads people to think that the court-manufactured positive rights of the 20th century rank up there with the fundamental, negative ones articulated in the Declaration and Bill of Rights. These (leftist) falsehoods and myths are commonplace because they have been endorsed and articulated, fought for at every level of government for more than 100 years by the Progressive movement.

As the Claremont Institute’s Dr. John Marini wrote in an excellent essay, “The Progressive movement … had as its fundamental purpose the destruction of the political and moral authority of the U.S. Constitution.” The moral authority of the Constitution comes from understanding that the rights protected by government are not created by government. These rights are endowed to mankind by a higher moral authority. They are derived from a higher law.amen

The Left rejects this understanding out of necessity. For if rights are manmade, if they have no attachment to a moral force that is beyond mankind, then “rights” can simply be created out of our selfish desires. Such as the right to kill an unborn child … and have the government subsidize the exercise of that “right.” Other rights can be taken away in the name of progress, such as the right of religious conscience objections

In his National Prayer Breakfast speech, President Trump cited Thomas Jefferson:

It was the great Thomas Jefferson who said, “the God who gave us life, gave us liberty.” Jefferson asked, “Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God?”picture2

For all his faults, President Donald Trump has a better understanding of America — and origin of natural rights — than all progressives.

Is it possible to repair a house on fire without extinguishing the raging inferno in it? Republicans think we are stupid enough to believe so.

First they promised to repeal Obamacare “root and branch.” Then they promised to “repeal and replace” without explaining its meaning — other than to legitimize the premise of Obamacare as a partial force for good. Now, they are on to “repair.”

The Hill has the relevant quotes from two of the most important committee chairmen (Senator Walden, R-Ore. (F, 36%) and Senator Alexander, R-Tenn. (F, 15%)) drafting the repeal bill … which will not repeal Obamacare:

“I’m trying to be accurate on this that there are some of these provisions in the law that probably will stay, or we may modify them, but we’re going to fix things, we’re going to repair things,” House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-Ore.), a key player on healthcare, told reporters Tuesday.

“There are things we can build on and repair, there are things we can completely repeal,” he said.

Senate Health Committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) is sounding a similar note. […]

“I think it is more accurate to say repair ObamaCare because, for example, in the reconciliation procedure that we have in the Senate, we can’t repeal all of ObamaCare,” Alexander said. “ObamaCare wasn’t passed by reconciliation, it can’t be repealed by reconciliation. So we can repair the individual market, which is a good place to start.”

As we noted before, every word of this premise is false because the price-hiking coverage regulations are inextricably linked to the subsidies, as noted by the courts and CBO. Therefore, the regulations can be repealed through budget reconciliation. Moreover, the Senate parliamentarian doesn’t have the final say on addressing Senate precedent.

However, there is a more important point to bring out from this story. These people lied to all of us. They told a bald-faced lie. Absolutely nothing changed structurally about Obamacare from the time they made these promises during the past three elections until now. If anything, premiums went up even more than expected and there are even fewer insurers than previously predicted, making the case for repeal an easier political sell.kick-em-out-of-office

Likewise, nothing changed procedurally from the time they promised to use budget reconciliation to repeal at least most of the main elements of the law. Republicans always knew that they would need to get rid of the actuarially crippling regulations, which would then unfreeze the insurance market, lower costs, bring back choice and competition, and engender much less of a need for subsidies. All the while, everyone always planned to maintain the subsidies and Medicaid expansion for a one to two-year transition period while other free market health care and health insurance reforms were put in place.

Yet, Republicans, particularly those in the Senate, never had any intention of repealing it because they don’t believe or understand free markets, are owned by the big pharma/big government complex, and have no desire or ability to articulate a winning issue to the public without shooting themselves in the foot.

This day was predicted long ago

In 2012 and 2014, conservatives worked against Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. (F, 40%) and his sitting RINO Senators (such as Thad Cochran, R-Miss. (F, 22%), Pat Roberts, R-Kan. (F, 51%) Lisa Murkowski, R-Ala. (F, 20%) and Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn. (F, 15%)) and his chosen challengers in open seats (such as Sens. Tillis, R-N.C. (F, 35%) and Cassidy, R-La. (F, 47%)). Voters were warned that they had no intention of repealing Obamacare. Conservatives cautioned that if Ted Cruz’s, R-Texas (A, 97%) plan to defund Obamacare at its inception was not followed, the law would never be repealed. That if we failed to build a Senate majority upon a solid foundation and stronger leadership, Obamacare would never be repealed even if we were so fortunate to control all three branches. Groups like Senate Conservatives Fund were maligned as pursuing “purity for profit” and undermining the creation of a GOP majority that would truly repeal Obamacare. Establishment voices accused the grassroots activists of needlessly creating a civil war over disagreements on strategy. Yet, we knew all along it was a disagreement over beliefs and courage, not strategy. Unfortunately, the establishment used their superior funding (from groups like the Chamber of Commerce that wanted to keep Obamacare all along) to run on repealing the law “root and branch,” as McConnell famously said. Now, some of these very senators are leading the charge to repair the law, which is not feasible.kick-em-out-of-office

Trump must intervene

Obviously, President Trump is having a busy week with his immigration policies and the Supreme Court pick, among many other issues. He can’t address everything in the first month of his presidency. But there is no way to ignore Obamacare. Unless it is FULLY repealed, within a few years no middle-income American will be able to live in freedom and dignity without permanent government support and intervention in healthcare. We will have no freedom in one sixth of our economy. Moreover, the crushing job loss, debt, and diminished wages from the Obamacare regulations are weighing down the economy and will undermine the president’s ability to grow the economy with some of his other plans. It will limit his ability to secure a legacy as a jobs president.

The plan forward

Trump should dispatch Vice President Pence to work with the House Freedom Caucus as well as Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wisc. (F, 52%) and ensure that the House passes the full repeal bill — along with the regulations. They should make it clear that there are no excuses for the Senate to not overrule the parliamentarian, but at the same time they should not wait around for the lords of the Senate to do the right thing. The reconciliation bill should be structured as follows:

  • An 18-month transition for retaining the subsidies and the Medicaid expansion. However, immediately freeze both programs from new registrations.
  • Repeal Obamacare’s taxes immediately and the regulations by mid-year so that insurance companies can have certainty to offer cheaper, competitive plans in 2018
  • On the administrative end, have Tom Price, R-Ga. (D, 62%) get rid of any cost-sharing subsidies and risk corridor bailouts for insurance companies. This will force them to utilize the lifting of regulations to lower prices and actually compete for business rather than relying on subsidies.
  • Meanwhile, individual states should work on reducing their own onerous health care and health insurance regulations in order to maximize the market effect of reducing federal insurance regulations.

At that point, Trump should relentlessly use his bully pulpit to name and shame the Senate into fulfilling their promise. It can be done if we actually got the momentum rolling in the House. As Reps. Mark Meadows, R-N.C. (A 94%) and Jim Jordan, R-Ohio (A, 96%) said in a statement today, “We committed to the American people to repeal every tax, every mandate, the regulations, and to defund Planned Parenthood. That’s what the American people expect us to do — and they expect us to do it quickly.”amen

In the meantime, conservatives should put the pressure on the Senate by launching a new round of primaries. Members like Jeff Flake, R-Ariz. (F, 50%), Bob Corker, R-Tenn. (F, 45%), Roger Wicker, R-Miss. (F, 28%), and Orrin Hatch, R-Utah (F, 33%) could be prime targets in states won by Trump.

As Bobby Jindal said, “Republicans who want to retreat from repeal to repair should be replaced.”

President Donald Trump is now facing resistance from his own party on his number one campaign pledge — erection of a border wall along Mexico, CNN reported.

When it comes down to the brass tacks, CNN reports congressional Republicans have one major problem with Trump’s wall – dollars and cents.

How, exactly, is Trump planning to pay for the estimated $12 billion to $15 billion it’ll take to build the wall?

“If you’re going to spend that kind of money, you’re going to have to show me where you’re going to get that money,” Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski told CNN. “I don’t see how you can get a bill like that through [Congress] without offsets. I don’t see how that’s possible.”

Trump has pledged that Mexico will pay for the wall one way or another, after the fact if not before. While Mexico has repeatedly said it will not, House Republicans aren’t buying it either.

“It’s not a viable option,” Sen. John McCain told CNN.no-more-rinos-2

So unless Trump’s plan carries with it spending cuts to offset the cost of the wall, Trump’s own party remains skeptical, not only on cost but effectiveness of keeping out bad hombres, too.

“I don’t want to see any spending, additional spending on anything done that is not paid for,” Sen. Bob Corker, a Trump ally and a one-time potential Cabinet nominee, told CNN.

“We have got a huge fiscal problem right now — $20.355 trillion in debt projected to add $9.7 trillion over the next 10 years. ”
