Why the ‘Resist’ movement is not at all like the Tea Party

Regular patriotic Americans stood up to the Obama administration, not by screaming and berating Democrat politicians, but by looking inside their own houses, their own traditional place within the Republican Party. After years of being told through campaign literature and promises, the Republican Party once again claimed it stood for the Constitution, for free markets and limited government. When the Tea Party drew up to challenge those Republicans who never practiced what they preached, they were castigated by the media and the Republican Party leadership as miscreants, as extremists, and were laughed at as, “hobbits” who should return to “Middle Earth.”

I’m sure any day now John McCain, R-Ariz. (F, 32%) will blast the resistance movement in similar fashion, right?

Don’t count on it. What McCain misunderstood back in 2010 was that the hobbits were the good guys. It is more likely McCain and his ilk will see the current resistance movement as good, right, and pure because what they want is what any big government politician wants: more government.

Yet the resistance movement is improperly named, just like the “Affordable” Care Act. The people blasting Republican members of Congress at town hall meetings aren’t resisting government, they are demanding more. They should be treated as what they are: a mob of Orcs, a group of destroyers of the Constitution and American Exceptionalism.

The Tea Party went to Republican town halls and said, “we want government out of our lives,” and “we want you to adhere to the Constitution.” They said, “we want less government, limited government, so we can have freedom and liberty.” The destroyers, however, are saying to the Republican politicians, “your job is to control the people, don’t stop doing your job.” They say, “give us more government, more handouts, more welfare, more taxes, more regulation,” anything less makes them scream, “you suck!”

The destroyers are resisting the Constitution, using it and the Declaration of Independence as toilet paper. Any similarities drawn between the two uprisings is the difference between constitutionalism and anarchy, between capitalism and communism, as my friend Mark Levin would say: between liberty and tyranny.

The destroyers claim that they are, “We the People.” But they are not the people the Constitution was formed to govern. We are witnessing the destroyers demand anarchy and lawlessness. When Ben Franklin said, “a republic, if you can keep it,” he was talking about right now.

As former Tea Party members sit back and think their work is done by electing Trump who promised, “only I can fix,” conservatives are rightly frustrated. Complacency and reports of “fake news” has put up walls between Tea Party activists who believed saving the country was a sprint instead of a marathon, and dogged conservatives who rightly reject nationalism yet see a desperate need for coalition.

And the problem is that this complacency if continued, it will supplant conservative influence on Republican legislators. The destroyers aren’t looking inside their own house, going to the Democrats and demanding they, “do their job,” they are going after the traditional weakest link. The Republicans who want to go along to get along — the ones who traditionally have no — spine will likely fall for the tactics of the far Left, as they per usual, want to, “give the people what they want.” As we have learned in lesson after painful lesson these past years, for some spineless Republicans, their ideology is not that far off from the goals of the Left.

We have to convince regular Americans that the resistance movement is out to destroy America, because that is what they are trying to do.

Yet people on the side of right wonder, “what is it the resistance movement is protesting?” The marches included a thousand different issues, the uncoordinated mobs had every cause represented from transgender rights to population control and climate hoax extremists. They are protesting America as founded. They are protesting biological truth. They are protesting God. They are protesting individuality. They are protesting private property. They are protesting capitalism. They are arguing for Fascism and Socialism and Communism.

Fascism is government control of private enterprise; they are arguing for that, not against it. The Tea Party argued against it, causing headaches for Republican members who believed the Left’s big lie that government can and should control the markets. The Tea Party mobilized in every state to stop crony capitalism, stop government from picking private business winners and losers, and stop government from playing favorites with “public-private” partnerships. Many Tea Partyers lost their way when Trump ran for president, because he too agreed with the left-winger belief that government should pick the winners and losers. Those Tea Partyers must come back and face the fact that there must be a stark difference between us and the destroyers of truth, so that spineless Republicans won’t cause more damage to the republic.

Socialism and its logical conclusion — Communism — is represented by Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. (F, 17%) and Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. (F, 18%) and is now mainstream in the Democrat Party. What has socialism gotten us? Social Security is bankrupt, as it the entire federal government, yet they want more. We had to put up massive resistance as Tea Partyers to stop Republicans from expanding Medicaid, yet several states ran by Republicans did it anyway. Doing so probably cemented Obamacare forever. Tea Partyers rightly said, “stop giving more, stop spending, you are breaking our backs!” You will never hear a destroyer say that, ever.

No, the destroyers, the mob of Orcs aren’t the same as the Tea Party. There is a war on for the direction of this nation, and it is not over after one election, or ten elections. We are being called to the carpet by the Founders of this great nation to keep a republic. Tea Partyers can’t sit around and wait while these destroyers are claiming they are the same as the Tea Party, as if all they have to do is demand and viola, two years later the Democrats sweep Congress. Tea Partyers have to recognize the Democrat Party is a Fascist/Socialist/Communist party, and that they are resisting America. We have to convince regular Americans that the resistance movement is out to destroy America, because that is what they are trying to do.

5 smart reasons to abolish the Department of Education

Speaking on Fox News Sunday in 2015, Trump said, “I may cut the Department of Education,” and in his book “Crippled America,” released the same year, he wrote “A lot of people believe the Department of Education should just be eliminated. Get rid of it. If we don’t eliminate it completely, we certainly need to cut its power and reach. Education has to be run locally.” So there is opportunity if only Republicans in Congress are brave enough to seize it.

To help push them in the right direction, here are five reasons why the Department of Education should be eliminated.

1. It’s unconstitutional

The word “education” never occurs in the U.S. Constitution. Already, this should mean that the federal government has no business interfering with education policy, since the Constitution is a list of enumerated powers. In other words, the Constitution is a comprehensive list of things the federal government is allowed to do, and anything not included is de facto forbidden.

To make this doubly clear, the 10th Amendment in the Bill of Rights is explicit: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” There you have it. The power to set education policy is reserved to the states or the people. The federal government is not authorized to meddle.

2. It’s expensive

The Department of Education comprises more than 80 subagencies, employs more than 4,000 people, and has an annual budget of nearly $70 billion. When you include other federal spending like Head Start and the School Lunch Program, that number swells to more than $100 billion.

With a national debt rapidly hurtling toward $20 trillion, this may be a drop in the bucket, but as a wise man once said, a few billion here and there eventually adds up to real money. It’s insane to think we couldn’t find better, more productive uses for $100 billion a year. Just off the top of my head, how about giving it back to the taxpayers?

Of course, maybe the federal government could justify this expense if it produced positive results.

Unfortunately …

3. It doesn’t work

The Department of Education has been around since 1979, and in that time, with the huge amounts of money that have poured into it, a reasonable person would expect to see massive improvements in educational performance.

In fact, we’ve seen no such thing. The more money we spend, the less students benefit. The department itself recently admitted that education spending isn’t producing any measurable results — a finding, which conforms with previous analyses of programs like Head Start and the department in general.

It may seem like an obvious question, but why are we continuing a program which has proven, time and time again, not to work?

4. It hinders school choice and student freedom

Perhaps the most infamous of Department of Education initiatives was Common Core, foisted upon the states through a complex system of incentives and penalties with the goal of imposing standardization of testing and, to a certain extent, curricula across the whole country.

These wildly unpopular standards have been the source of outrage and confusion among parents and students alike, who found the math problems impossible, the history textbooks revisionist, and the constant testing oppressive.

But Common Core is far from the only soul-crushing program leveled at local schools from on high. The Department of Education also brought us the spectacular failures of No Child Left Behind, Race to the Top, Head Start, and most recently the Every Student Succeeds Act. All of these share the goal of making schools everywhere the same, in spite of the fact that different states, different cities, and different children have diverse education requirements that cannot be met by a single top-down structure. It may come as a surprise to education bureaucrats, but many parents are not comfortable with their children being ‘tracked’ by the federal government.

Like every other market, the market for education thrives only when innovation, competition, and experimentation are allowed to flourish. The Department of Education has devoted itself to stamping out all of that.

5. It’s really, really creepy

Like so many other pseudoscientific pursuits, the Department of Education has been moving increasingly toward data collection and analysis in what it claims is an effort to improve student performance. Barack Obama’s Education secretary, Arne Duncan, made the following statement about his ambitions:

Hopefully, some day, we can track children from preschool to high school and from high school to college and college to career.

It may come as a surprise to education bureaucrats, but many parents are not comfortable with their children being “tracked” by the federal government. In many cases, parents have no idea what type of data is being collected on their children, and it is not easy to find out even if you are aware of the practice and want to know.

Nor are we just talking about test scores. A surprisingly candid 2013 report from the Department of Education provides a wish list of data collection, including the desire to monitor students’ facial expressions and eye movements during class, and then using the data to diagnosis learning disabilities or other problems.

In fact, schools may already be doing this; they are notoriously tight-lipped about data collection. The idea that a computer algorithm might diagnose one’s child with mental illness because he made the wrong expression in class is chilling, and we can be sure that it’s only the beginning of where the department would like to go in the future.

Bearing all these points in mind, it’s baffling that the government continues to fund and defend the Department of Education, which, by its own admission, has not improved student outcomes yet interferes with the freedoms of America’s children on a daily basis. The time is now. Abolish the Department of Education once and for all.

The United States Department of Education (ED or DoED), also referred to as the ED for (the) Education Department, is a Cabinet-level department of the United States government. Recreated by the Department of Education Organization Act (Public Law 96-88) and signed into law by President Jimmy Carter on October 17, 1979, it began operating on May 4, 1980.[3]

The Department of Education Organization Act divided the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare into the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services. The Department of Education is administered by the United States Secretary of Education. It has approximately 4,400 employees and an annual budget of $68 billion (2016).[1]

The Constitution of the United States of America does not give the President the responsibilities of creating jobs. I am uncertain of this origin, but it created the mammoth government we have today. The pressure on each President’s Administration caused them to created Federal jobs, which means Federal agencies, which means the functions that belong to the States, was taken over by a Federal bureaucracy. Thank you President Jimmy Carter and the Socialist Left.

The original design of the Founders was as follows;

By taking education into Federal control, the monies set aside for education exploded into the billions of dollars to pay for all the jobs created by a bloated bureaucracy just so President Carter the Socialist Left could claim they created jobs. All the increase in taxes went to pay for the bureaucracy, NOT FOR THE CHILDREN.

Then the Socialist Left cried that they needed more monies for education, but whatever they took from tax payers went into the bureaucracy, NOT THE SCHOOLROOM. The Dems love to talk as if they are the ones who care most about children and their education, yet very little of the billions they collect ever get to teachers income, and the needs of the teachers to do their jobs. Now we have teachers spending their own monies to buy supplies for their classroom, as the Federal bureaucracy, State Department of Education bureaucracy and the Local School District bureaucracy line their pockets with the monies needed for the children.

Enter the Union. The Teachers Union is one of the most powerful union in the nation. They get to choice what your child gets taught, even if it’s mostly propaganda. History is rewritten to push their Liberal-Socialist agenda. They also hold our children hostage whenever they want more taxpayer money. Again, very little of those increases ever get to the classroom.

By eliminating the Federal Department of Education bureaucracy, as well as the States Department of Education bureaucracy, all those monies would now go to the Districts bureaucracy, ending up with the monies needed by the teachers to do their jobs (and perhaps get those much needed raises.)

This brings us to School Voucher Programs. When there is competition, there is always better services. Despite the lies the Teachers Union puts out about Voucher Programs, they work. When School Districts start losing funding to better school systems, they will be forced to get as good as the private schools, or face extinction. Children win.

RUN FOR THE BORDER! Look How Many ILLEGALS Were Rounded Up In A Week

If you’re in the US illegally — maybe you should look at heading back home. Over the last week, 600 illegal immigrants were apprehended.

Hundreds of illegal immigrants across 11 states were arrested last week as part of targeted operations, federal immigration officials revealed on Sunday. A series of raids by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers saw around 600 people apprehended. The agency said the operations were ‘routine’.

President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Sunday morning to proclaim his commitment to a crackdown on crime. He tweeted: ‘The crackdown on illegal criminals is merely the keeping of my campaign promise. Gang members, drug dealers & others are being removed!’…

…David Marin, head of ICE’s removal operations in Los Angeles, told reporters that approximately 160 people had been arrested in the city. Some 75 percent of them had prior felony convictions, he said, adding that some people had been apprehended solely because they were undocumented.

By Friday night, 37 undocumented immigrants had already been expelled to Mexico. An additional 40 were arrested in New York City, which hosts around 1.15million undocumented immigrants.

A further 200 were arrested across Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri and Wisconsin and another 200 across North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

Of course, activists and Progressives are going to be outraged, because they believe ‘no one is illegal’. The real issue is that the way that immigration law is handled in the United States. It treats some immigrants with kid-gloves and with others with a sledgehammer.

Just try ‘overstaying a Visa’ if you’re, say, a white Canadian relocating for work or school. Or the years (and sometimes decades-long) wait and the thousands of dollars if you’re trying to do it legally.

Trump Justice Department Signals An End To Transgender Locker Room Lunacy In Public Schools

A motion filed in federal court by the Justice Department on Friday suggests that newly-minted Attorney General Jeff Sessions is reassessing a vague Obama administration order allowing transgender students in America’s public schools to use the bathrooms and locker rooms of their choice.

The Justice Department’s new motion in the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals seeks permission to delay a hearing on a previous motion — filed last year — which had asked the court to ease a preliminary injunction by federal district judge Reed O’Connor striking down Obama administration guidance about bathroom and shower use in taxpayer-funded schools.

The Obama administration guidance, sent in May, instructed public school districts across the country to allow transgender students to choose bathrooms and shower stalls consistent with their gender identity, not their biological features. “A school’s failure to treat students consistent with their gender identity may create or contribute to a hostile environment in violation of Title IX,” the guidance said, in reference to the 1972 federal law banning gender discrimination in education.

The U.S. Department of Justice motion to delay came just one day after Sessions was sworn as President Donald Trump’s attorney general. The parties are “currently considering how best to proceed in this appeal,” the motion states, according to ABC News.

The preliminary injunction, entered in August, stems from a 2016 lawsuit filed by the state of Texas in response to the Obama administration’s transgender bathrooms directive. A dozen states have joined the suit, setting the stage for what once appeared to loom as a legal battle that could have huge implications for transgender legal issues.

The suing states accused the agencies of issuing the guidelines by means of regulatory “dark matter,” a deluge of agency directives, notices, memoranda, guidance documents, and even blog posts which effectively create new policy without congressional legislation or Administrative Procedure Act (APA) protocols. The states claim that this strategy allows agencies to evade judicial review and achieve their policy objectives. (RELATED: Texas Leads 13 States In Lawsuit To Stop Obama Transgender Bathroom Rules)

Judge O’Connor, an appointee of George W. Bush, wrote in the preliminary injunction that Title IX “is not ambiguous” concerning “the biological and anatomical differences between male and female students as determined at their birth.”

A Justice Department spokesman refused to comment on the motion to delay the hearing. Transgender enthusiasts lamented the Justice Department motion.

“Our concern is that it’s a very clear signal that at a minimum the Department of Justice — and possibly more broadly throughout the Trump administration — will not protect transgender students,” Human Rights Campaign legal director Sarah Warbelow told ABC News.

Next month, the U.S. Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a case involving a female Virginia high school student, Gavin Grimm, who insists on using boys’ bathrooms and locker rooms despite the fact that she is a girl. Grimm’s saga dates back to 2014 when the school board in Gloucester County, Virginia refused to allow her to use boys’ bathrooms and locker rooms. The school board chairman at the time, George Burak, observed that other students use bathrooms and locker rooms in addition to Grimm. To placate Grimm, now 17, the school district paid to build a number of unisex, single-person bathrooms for all students — including Grimm — to use. Grimm was unsatisfied. With the help of the American Civil Liberties Union, she and her parents sued the school district under Title IX, a comprehensive 1972 federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of biological sex. At least one physician has diagnosed Grimm with gender dysphoria, which means that Grimm insists she is actually a boy even though she was born with and lived her life with female reproductive organs. A lower court order — currently stayed — had directed the Gloucester County school district to allow Grimm to use boys’ bathrooms.

John Banzhaf, a famed public interest law professor at the George Washington University Law School, noted in a statement sent to The Daily Caller that the rights and safety concerns of transgender students must be balanced against the rights and safety concerns of everyone else who must use the same set of public bathrooms in a given taxpayer-funded building.

“The concerns about assault are raised not primarily about transgender males, but rather about traditional males who would have a legal defense if found within a female restroom,” Banzhaf said.

Wall Street Journal editor in chief Gerard Baker told his reporters Monday the paper would not abandon objectivity in its coverage of President Donald Trump, and directed them to find work somewhere else if they want to adopt a more oppositional tone.

“It’s a little irritating when I read that we have been soft on Donald Trump,” he told his reporters and editors, a source at the newsroom meeting told The New York Times. Baker held the meeting ostensibly to have a casual conversation on the editorial direction of the paper, but it was held on the heels of reports the newsroom is in turmoil over the Trump coverage.

The Trump coverage is “neutral to the point of being absurd,” one source inside the newsroom recently told Politico. Criticism peaked when Baker sent a memo to staff instructing reporters and editors to tone down the use of “loaded” language in coverage of Trump’s immigration ban. Baker strongly defended his paper’s coverage as objective in the meeting, going so far as to read from a list of past WSJ headlines compiled to refute the criticism. He suggested it is other outlets such as The New York Times that have abandoned fair reporting standards and objectivity — not The Wall Street Journal — and that those standards aren’t going anywhere.

Reporters who don’t like that, he said, might want to find work somewhere else.

Some journalists at other outlets have openly criticized the idea of treating Trump and his former Democrat opponent Hillary Clinton equally in the press. In an amazing justification of this kind of blatant bias, New York Times columnist Jim Rutenberg described the thinking behind this new “norm” of objectivity.

“If you view a Trump presidency as something that’s potentially dangerous, then your reporting is going to reflect that,” he wrote. “You would move closer than you’ve ever been to being oppositional. That’s uncomfortable and uncharted territory for every mainstream, nonopinion journalist I’ve ever known, and by normal standards, untenable.”

Trump Supporter Gets Liberal Crowd Cheering on Obamacare, then Drops Reality on their Heads

Across the nation, Republican lawmakers have been holding raucous town hall meetings where their liberal constituents have been gathering to complain. From California, to Michigan, to Florida liberals have been filling up venues and yelling at recently elected Republicans (in usually heavily Republican districts) about President Trump, Obamacare, and other hot-button topics.

Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA) was reelected with 63% of the vote in his district, but you never would have guessed it if you would have been at a recent town hall where police had to escort him from the premises.

Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) was reelected with 60% of the vote in his district, but at a recent town hall in Grand Rapids, Michigan you would have thought that no one in his community had voted for him.

There are many other examples of the ridiculous rise of liberal complainers. Folks who are so incensed at losing (even when the winner got more than 60% of the vote) that they simply have to complain about everything, but I’ll just share one more…

In Florida, Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) won his district with 69% of the vote. 69%! And yet, when he held a town hall in New Port Richey, Florida you would have though that the man would soon be looking for other work. The venue was filled with liberal Democrats screaming and complaining about the GOP majority doing things that Republicans elected them to do. The insanity was epic, stirred by one man’s demand that Obamacare be “ripped to shreds,” but it was an elderly gentleman in a trademark “Make America Great Again” hat that made the crowd apoplectic.

The man asked three simple questions, and had the Democrat crowd cheering him on… but when he answered his own questions it was as if he’d just poured hot coals over their liberal heads.

“Every American should have health care coverage—would you agree,” he asked. The crowd cheered their approval. “That pre-existing conditions should be covered—would you say,” the man continued. Again the crowd cheered the man on. “If you are 26 years old, or at least up to that, you should be able to be covered by your parents’ insurance—would you agree,” he asked one last time to raucous applause. But there would be no cheering from the liberals after his final statement… “OK, Mr. Price, the cabinet member, has said he’s committed to those three things. Yes, yes, yes! So you need to find out the facts before you start complaining.”

The Independent Journal Review proves the man right, and lays out Dr. Tom Price’s (the new Secretary of Health and Human Services) position on healthcare.

On the issue of health care for all, Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price said:

“I think it’s absolutely imperative that we have a system in place that has patients at the center and allows for every single American to have the opportunity to gain access to the kind of coverage they want.”

Price also recently vowed, “we will not abandon individuals with pre-existing illness or disease.”

Finally, even President Donald Trump said he wants to keep the Obamacare provision allowing people up to 26 years old to be covered by their parents’ insurance plans.

Principal tells Parents that Trump Presidency is “More Troubling” than 9/11 and the MLK Assassination

The question before us is; are liberals stupid, crazy, or evil? At least, that would seem to be the question based upon the comments of so many liberals in the wake of the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States.

The latest example of the insanity that has struck so many American liberals are the recent comments of Principal Steve Nelson, who recently emailed to the parents of the students who attend the Calhoun School in New York City’s Upper West Side.

From the NY Post:

The principal at a progressive Manhattan private school told parents in an email last week that the Trump presidency was more troubling than Vietnam, the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., the September 11 attacks and Watergate, The Post has learned…

Nelson emailed a series of anguished ruminations on Donald Trump’s ascent to Calhoun parents, simultaneously calling for non-partisanship while skewering the billionaire’s policies.

Nelson specifically said that he was “more troubled now” than he was watching “soot-covered New Yorkers grimly trudging north on West End Avenue on September 11, 2001.”

I think this is where I should add the sentence that is becoming all-too common in conservative circles these days: “This is why Donald Trump won.” Liberals speaking in this manner — dramatically condemning every word from the Trump White House as if it were evidence of our nation’s collapse, even when those words echo Obama or Clinton — is simply infuriating.

Some parents were offended, with one telling the Post that “It was inappropriate, it was offensive, it was condescending. This is a liberal school. So I guess that’s the approach. But this was too much. To compare this to 9-11 – I think that’s just too much.”

Another parent complained, “I just think this went too far. I understand that this is a progressive school, but at a certain point you have to have some restraint.”

Sadly, as the Post explains, the vast majority of the parents and students that they spoke with cheered on the Principal’s comments and were in complete agreement with them. Think about that. A large group of citizens who live in New York City believe that Donald Trump as President is “more troubling” than the events of 9/11. This is the level of delusion that we face today in America.

We are at a very dangerous crossroads, and it has nothing to do with Donald Trump and everything to do with the collapse of the liberal intellect and the demise of the liberal conscience.

Why Frederick Douglass Was an Exemplary American

This month of each year, we commemorate the great individuals and events in the history of African-Americans. On Tuesday, marking his 199th birthday, we will commemorate perhaps the greatest of them all, Frederick Douglass—a singular exemplar and apostle of the American spirit.

“He was an American of the Americans,” Douglass once said of Abraham Lincoln, in words that apply no less aptly to himself. “Born and reared among the lowly, a stranger to wealth and luxury, compelled to grapple single-handed with the flintiest hardships of life … he grew strong in the manly and heroic qualities demanded by the great mission to which he was called.”

Douglass loved America. He loved it for its principles and for its promise. Nonetheless, the sentiment of patriotism, which he regarded as “pure, natural, and noble,” did not come naturally or easily to him.

“What country have I?” he asked in an 1847 editorial, and he then answered: None. As he confessed to his early abolitionist mentor William Lloyd Garrison, the sentiment of patriotism “was whipt out of me” by the slave masters under whose dominion he was born.

Given the circumstances of his youth, it is unremarkable that Douglass, after escaping from slavery, would embrace the teaching of Garrison, who in his abolitionist zeal rejected the Constitution as a pro-slavery “covenant with death” and who would call for non-slaveholding states to sever their association with slaveholders by seceding from the federal union.

What is remarkable is that within a few years, by conscientious study and reflection, Douglass set himself on a different course. Douglass came to reject the Garrisonian position, and he explained why in a Fourth of July oration delivered July 5, 1852, a speech now recognized as the greatest of all abolitionist speeches. In it, he praised the Constitution as “a glorious liberty document,” and he extolled the Founders for their courage and their wisdom alike: “They were brave men. They were great men too. … They seized upon eternal principles, and set a glorious example in their defense. Mark them!”

In those principles—the principles of the Declaration of Independence—Douglass found the distinctive promise of America.

“The leading object of [our] government,” Lincoln said in a July 4 message of his own, is “to elevate the condition of men—to lift artificial weights from all shoulders—to clear the paths of laudable pursuit for all—to afford all an unfettered start, and a fair chance.”

Precisely so, Douglass added in the most popular of his post-Civil War speeches:

America is said, and not without reason, to be preeminently the home and patron of self-made men … [The] principle of measuring and valuing men according to their respective merits and without regard to their antecedents, is better established and more generally enforced here than in any other country.

Douglass summarized the nation’s promise a few years after the Union victory. America’s mission, he proclaimed, is to become “the most perfect national illustration of the unity and dignity of the human family that the world has ever seen.”

The converse is still more telling: As Douglass conceived of the virtue of the country in terms of human integration and elevation, he conceived of the main dangers to it as forces of disintegration and degradation, including any and all artificial barriers to the exercise of individual rights and the cultivation of civic unity. Those forces and barriers were manifold. In the antebellum period, they included not only slavery itself but also Garrison’s disunion proposal, in which Douglass found “no intelligible principle of action.”

Both before and after the Civil War, they included also the ideas of constitutional state sovereignty and of sectionalism whereby portions of the country were licensed to disregard rights proper both to human beings and to American citizens.

“The true doctrine,” Douglass wrote in objecting to the Supreme Court’s Slaughter-House Cases doctrine of differential state and federal citizenship rights, “is one nation, one country, one citizenship and one law for all the people.”

Most powerful of all sources of disintegration, however, was race. Beyond his objections to race-based slavery, needless to belabor here, of particular interest is Douglass’ objection to the cultivation of racial identity even when the aim was racial uplift rather than oppression or exclusion. A few months before he died, he observed, “We hear, since emancipation, much said … in commendation of race pride, race love, race effort, race superiority, race men, and the like.”

Conceding that what he had to say “may be more useful than palatable,” he nevertheless admonished the friends of racial equality that they:

make a great mistake in saying so much of race and color … It is an effort to cast out Satan by Beelzebub … I would place myself, and I would place you, my young friends, upon grounds vastly higher and broader than any founded upon race or color … Not as Ethiopians; not as Caucasians; not as Mongolians; not as Afro-Americans, or Anglo-Americans, are we addressed, but as men. God and nature speak to our manhood, and to our manhood alone.

Douglass’ story is the story of an American who, like his country, rose from a low beginning to a great height, who gained freedom by his own virtue and against great odds, and who matured into a world-famous apostle of universal liberty. It is the story, too, of a man divided by race, who with time and work became his country’s most prominent representative of the aspiration toward racial uplift, reconciliation, and integration.

Recounted in three finely crafted autobiographies, Douglass’ story is timely in any season and locale.

In our own, a time when many Americans feel trapped by circumstances, ignored, or disdained by those in positions of public responsibility and confused about the meaning and merits of their country’s identity, it is particularly so.

Column: California moves further to the left

People outside California often have a hard time grasping how poisonous the state’s political atmosphere is. In his recent testimony to the Public Safety Commission, Senate President Pro Tempore Kevin de Leon made it abundantly clear just how far conditions have come undone.

Overreacting to President Donald Trump’s commitment to enforcing U.S. immigration laws, De Leon confessed that Trump’s policies would make “half [his] family” deportable. But, Trump has repeatedly said in various public forums that his first order of business is to remove criminal aliens. Getting rid of criminals could take years, so De Leon’s family has no immediate concerns. Trump’s pledge refers to the most dangerous offenders-murderers, rapists, sex offenders, kidnappers and drug dealers.

But, if per chance the Trump administration decided to expand its definition of who’s removable to include criminals that committed identity fraud, falsified work applications, lied to receive permanent residency cards, Social Security numbers and driver’s licenses under false pretenses-all felonies-then De Leon’s family could be in hot water.

In his statement defending SB 54 (the California Values Act), his bill that would make California officially a sanctuary state, De Leon said that within the illegal alien community, “almost entirely everybody has secured some sort of false identification. That’s what you need to survive, to work.” The law prohibits employers from hiring aliens, and for those aliens to work.

During a later interview, De Leon doubled down on his insistence that identity theft to secure fake documents is perfectly acceptable, not a deportable crime, and reconfirmed that many in his family had done just that because “it’s what you need to survive.”

De Leon’s brazenness proves how far to the left California has shifted. De Leon is a high-ranking elected official with no qualms about publicly identifying his family as felons, and without the least concern that he might suffer political consequences. In fact, the California rumor mill predicts that De Leon will be a 2018 gubernatorial candidate to succeed Jerry Brown. He might run on the platform that because his family is corrupt, he’ll legalize corruption, a position that would be popular in the Los Angeles area that De Leon represents. The Migration Policy Institute estimates that L.A. County has more than one million illegal immigrants.

Brown, the California Latino Legislative Caucus and the state’s sanctuary city mayors insist that they will defy Trump on immigration, and promise not to let the federal government withhold funding. To that end, California state lawmakers have retained former Attorney General Eric Holder to advise them on challenging Trump. Holder’s $25,000 weekly salary comes from taxpayers’ pockets, as does half of the $10 million fund Los Angeles created to provide legal services to aliens allegedly facing deportation.

Unwittingly, De Leon has provided Trump with a great forum to defend his immigration agenda. Build a wall or a physical barrier, and illegal immigration is reduced. Pass mandatory E-Verify, and De Leon’s family living here illegally can’t get jobs. Defund sanctuary California, and the nation hails Trump as a hero.

Lost in the Latino Caucus’ ceaseless illegal immigrant advocacy is that of California’s 39 million population, about 36 million are citizens and legal residents. In Sacramento, the majority is poorly represented.

Supporters of illegal immigration are working overtime on social media trying to get information out there on how those caught up in raids should respond. This is absolutely ridiculous. Agents are doing their jobs and following the law!

If Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents show up at the door, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) advises not opening it unless the agents can show a warrant signed by a judge.

“Ask to see it (through a window or slipped under the door,” the graphic, available in multiple languages, says.

ICE administrative warrants don’t allow agents to enter a home without the consent of the residents. Residents can ask through the door why the agents are there and request an interpreter if they need one.

If there is no warrant, ask the agents to leave information outside.

She partied with Nancy Pelosi, traveled on Air Force one next to President Obama, and cast her superdelegate vote for Hillary Clinton. But today Corrine Brown is in federal court for stealing scholarship money from school children.

The disgraced congresswoman must defend against charges that she funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars from a non-profit charity, One Door for Education, into her own pocket. If convicted on all 24 counts, she faces 357 years in prison and $4.8 million in fines.

With her former chief of staff expected to testify against her, the question’s no longer whether or not she’s guilty. It’s why Democrat brass would continually cozy up to a congresswoman who was so clearly corrupt?

From the beginning, Brown’s been shrouded in controversy. Shortly after she won election in 1992, the Federal Election Commission accused Brown of violating numerous campaign finance laws. Most notably, she accepted donations from foreign citizens and failed to report the use of a corporate plane. And that’s just the tip of the ethical iceberg.

New Study Proves Trump Right – 72 Terrorists have come from Countries on Travel Ban

Surprise, surprise, surprise. Apparently, when you look into the data, examine the facts, and move past the emotional (and irrational) arguments of the left, we find that President Trump’s Executive Order on Immigration is better grounded in reality than our media lets on.

In a just released study from the Center for Immigration Studies we learn that 72 individuals, from the seven countries on President Trump’s travel ban (pause) list have been CONVICTED in terrorism cases since 9/11. Not suspected. Not arrested. CONVICTED in terrorism cases. Even worse, the Senate data from which the study was undertaken was incomplete, so it’s quite possible that this number is even higher than the study indicates.

Here’s what the data that could be studied shows, these are the number of terrorists we’ve let in to our nation from these seven countries since 9/11/2001:

Somalia: 20
Yemen: 19
Iraq: 19
Syria: 7
Iran: 4
Libya: 2
Sudan: 1
Total: 72

Again, the number could be higher since the researchers could not obtain complete information on each case.

According to the study, at least 17 of the 72 entered the United States as refugees from terror prone countries. Three of them came in on student visas, and one arrived using a diplomatic visa. At least 25 of these terrorists eventually became citizens, ten of them were lawful permanent residents, and ONLY four of them were illegal aliens.

That means that 68 of the 72 terrorists from these seven countries (since 9/11) entered legally, were fully vetted and cleared to come to the United States. Does that give you cause for concern? Does that number imply a greater problem with our vetting system?

These immigrant terrorists lived in at least 16 different states, with the largest number from the terror-associated countries living in New York (10), Minnesota (8), California (8), and Michigan (6). Ironically, Minnesota was one of the states suing to block Trump’s order to pause entries from the terror-associated countries, claiming it harmed the state. At least two of the terrorists were living in Washington, which joined with Minnesota in the lawsuit to block the order.

Thirty-three of the 72 individuals from the seven terror-associated countries were convicted of very serious terror-related crimes, and were sentenced to at least three years imprisonment. The crimes included use of a weapon of mass destruction, conspiracy to commit a terror act, material support of a terrorist or terror group, international money laundering conspiracy, possession of explosives or missiles, and unlawful possession of a machine gun.

President Trump’s order is lawful (many Presidents have issued similar orders in the past – including President Obama, Bush, Clinton, and Carter), and as this study proves, his order may actually be necessary. He shouldn’t have to do more work to prove that a temporary pause in immigration from a small group of countries is a good idea, especially since all of the information gathered in this study was readily available to anyone with a computer and internet access.

Don’t let the Democrats and the media fool you, folks. In this debate, President Trump is the only one making any sense.

Democrats Demanding that Immigration Officials Stop Deporting Illegals Convicted of Violent Crimes

Democrats are so in the tank for open borders and the importation of illegal aliens that they are even working themselves into a froth to protest the deportation of illegals convicted of violent crimes against Americans.

Left-wingers are furious this week over the recent increase in deportations initiated by the newly ensconced Donald J. Trump administration. They were mollified somewhat over the last four years by Obama’s increasingly lower number of deported illegal aliens, but now that Trump is in charge, more attention is being brought (properly so) to the job of deportation being ignored by the Immigration department through most of Obama’s 8-year reign of terror on the nation.

First some numbers. While it is difficult to get hard and fast numbers a CNN report from 2015 said there are nearly 75,000 people in U.S. prisons who are not legal citizens. Also at that time authorities had issued detainer requests for over a million illegals (these are requests issued to hold an illegal for deportation). And during Obama’s reign from 2010 to 2014 at least 121 illegals were released from immigration only to end up arrested for murdering a U.S. citizen. Ten years ago, another report found that 12 Americans are murdered by an illegal alien every day.

As you can see from these numbers, it would seem Americans are in far more danger from illegal aliens than from Muslim terrorists. Despite this obvious danger to Americans, in his last term in office President Obama refused to deport a whopping 820,000 criminally convicted illegal aliens and simply released them right back into the U.S. population to prey on all of us. Of that 820,000 illegals, fully 690,000 had serious convictions such as drunk driving, drug dealing, rape, and murder.

Thanks to Obama’s hands off, open door policy, Jessica Vaughan, the policy director for the Center for Immigration Studies, testified that, “Established gangs have been able to transfer an unknown number of experienced foot soldiers from Central America to help colonize new criminal territory in the United States.”

Now we have the age of Trump just fairly beginning and our immigration officials are finally not being held back by Obama’s anti-American edicts. One of the first things Trump did was dump Obama’s very unpopular U.S. Border Patrol Chief Mark Morgan. Members of the border patrol hated this guy because he repeatedly said he supported amnesty (then later denied it) and was 100 percent in favor of Obama’s destructive immigration policies. Only days after he took the oath of office, Trump told Morgan to resign.

Not long after Morgan left his post, Trump also fired Daniel Ragsdale, Obama’s director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. On January 30 the ICE director was replaced by Trump appointee Thomas D. Homan. By the second week of February, the number of deportations began to move upward instead of downward as they have been for the last five years… and the liberals are screaming bloody murder.

This weekend a mass protest against Trump’s new deportation policy sprung up in New York City. For a change the New York Police Department didn’t treat these un-American disruptors with kid gloves and the ones blocking the road ways were slammed to the ground and arrested. One protester said Trump’s new deportation regimen is meant as a “fear tactic.”

Ask Kate Steinle’s family where the fear is coming from after she was murdered by an illegal alien in “sanctuary city” San Francisco.

Naturally there were violent, hate-filled signs — many professionally printed to prove the protest is not a spontaneous, true reflection of sentiment — to go along with this anti-American protest…

The Trump administration, of course, rightfully notes that deporting these criminal aliens saves lives.

According to the Washington Examiner, Stephen Miller, the president’s policy director, said, “the cases that I’m familiar with…have to do with removing criminal aliens, individuals who have criminal charges or convictions against them. And that’s what’s been taking place all across the country. And the effect of that is going to be saving many American lives, American property and American safety.”

“The bottom line is this: in the calculation between open borders and saving American lives, it is the easiest choice we will ever have to make,” Miller added on Face the Nation on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Trump’s policies are also finding favor among the law enforcement community and the wild, unsupportable claims by liberals are being lampooned. Recently sheriffs from around the country voiced ridicule of claims by Democrats that these illegal, lawbreaking “sanctuary cities” actually help illegals feel comfortable enough to report crimes to local police. Many sheriffs find the claim absurd.

“National Sheriffs’ Association executive director Jonathan Thompson, who represents a wide geographical range of law enforcement officers, said he has never seen any statistics indicating that illegal immigrants are a significant source of information for police,” the Washington Examiner reported.

“I’ve not even seen anecdotal evidence,” Thompson insisted. “The sad thing is that [the Democratic claim] suggests that people here are aware of criminal activity and are not reporting it. We have to give them specific dispensation so that they’re reporting crimes? … I find the irony thicker than anything I can cut with a knife, that somebody here illegally is going to report a crime.”

“It’s a whisper campaign. You tell a lie once it goes around the world in 20 seconds,” Thompson concluded. “I think it makes a nice soundbite. It’s nice for some in law enforcement who want to believe that all criminal aliens want to support local law enforcement. That may be true, but I don’t know of any statistics … that suggest that this is a wealth or reserve ocean of confidential informants.”

The Examiner found several other sheriffs who thought the left’s claims were absurd, as well.

We are seeing the federal government swing back in the favor of making America great again. Let us hope liberals prove unable to put a hitch in this drive.

The armed robber puts a gun in your back and says it simply and frankly. The Marxist socialist says the same thing with more words.

As a matter of fact, the socialists main tool is words. They weaponize them by redefining concepts. They take a privilege and say it is a right. A socialist redefines himself as a “liberal” to confuse liberty with socialism. They redefine “tolerance” to confuse mercy and impunity and brand justice as “intolerant.” Now they redefine perversion as “sexual preference” so that soon pedophilia, necrophilia and animalism will be as “acceptable” as homosexuality. They have converted emasculation into “sensitivity” and masculinity into monstrosity, but in their insane rebellion against truth, the most “feminist” of “feminism” go to the most antifeminists of beliefs — Islam. In recent cases they are trying to convert immigration — a privilege by any sane standard — into a “right” for the purpose of eliminating nationality and thus national defense, sovereignty and patriotism. Socialists in judicial power will continue to do so until executive power stops their abuse and enforces constitutional law.

Globalists say they’ll take your money and kill you (wage external war or internal strife) if you don’t accept their debt based money, or accept their conditions of interest and political policy (like “human rights,” “social justice,” “tolerance,” “political correctness” and, eventually “global government and the New World Order.”) — These will use the money they created from our future to wage street protests and make nations fight each other Russia or China if you reject their money, their debt or their conditions, like not “bailing out” their banks with our future and the future of our future generations. Your money or your life — same concept different words.

In the “Affordable Health Care” plan, the globalists are, saying that they’ll keep you from even getting into a hospital if you don’t pay a big and ever increasing deductible or accept an unpayable debt. Same concept different words.

Communists say we’ll take your productive facilities or we’ll kill or throw you out. So they do, and the only thing they prove is that bureaucrats and politicians can’t produce, because they only know how to steal. And when the leaders only know how to steal, the people can’t learn how to produce. But they do learn how to steal from each other, so parasites eat parasites. In the early stages people have to wait in long lines to get bread, soap or toilet paper. In later stages, they hunt and eat each other. Same concept different words.

Fascists say, you need to buy our protection from competition with higher taxes or we’ll tax you to death and send criminal elements to shut you down. So, the net effect is big, inefficient, corporations that produce goods of less value for more costs, because of their overhead to government and banks. Honest, hardworking, creative competition dies out, and so does the morality of exchanging value for value. Same concept different words.

What dies is sovereignty, for the individual and the nation.

With the loss of sovereignty comes the loss of freedom. True freedom, the responsibility-driven freedom of doing the best and promoting the common good instead of the average bad of giving in and taking in so that you get some loot. It is, in essence a gradual loss of values which comes at a gradual increase in price. This is what religion calls selling your soul to the devil. The bigger the religion, the more formalized is the acceptance and “tolerance” of the average bad. Now, Marxism is the biggest religion.

Virginia Bill Will Protect Christians Who Believe in Marriage

For many Christians, the question has never been about whether people can marry the same sex. The idea has nothing to do with legal language. It has to do with the definition of marriage. Two people of the same sex cannot marry because what they do is not marriage. Marriage is a union created by God, and the government cannot change what God instituted.

This was not the legal standing of the U.S. Supreme Court. According to their ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, the government determines what the definition of marriage. This, for Christians clearly places the government in an idolatrous position. They can believe and operate as God tells them or they can obey the government, but there can only be one authority on this issue. This is why this authority should never be conceded to the government in the first place.

But for many, this Christian understanding was becoming financially impossible to hold. At least in the public legal sense, the Christian was being forced into financial and practical assent to this variant view of marriage and the authority over its administration.

Now, this might be changing, at least in Virginia.

Christian News reports

Lawmakers in Virginia have passed a bill that prohibits the government from punishing those who believe in biblical marriage and conduct their public lives in accordance with that conviction.

S.B. 1324 passed the Senate on Tuesday 21-19, and now moves on to the House for consideration. The vote was along party lines.

“No person shall be required to participate in the solemnization of any marriage, or subject to any penalty by the Commonwealth, or its political subdivisions or representatives or agents, notwithstanding any other provision of law, solely on account of such person’s belief, speech, or action in accordance with a sincerely held religious belief or moral conviction that marriage is or should be recognized as the union of one man and one woman,” the legislation reads.

If this bill becomes law, it will provide a protection of Christians from being legally obliged to accommodate what they consider sin.

This Iraqi Christian Leader Supports Donald Trump! [VIDEO]

This Iraqi Christian leader does not seem worried about Trump’s travel ban and extreme vetting. It is no surprise that this Iraqi Christian leader does not get much coverage in the mainstream media. I refer to the Archbishop Bashar Warda of Erbil, Iraq. Here he is being interviewed last August:

Now he has been commenting on our new President. According to Fox News:

The Archbishop for the Christian community in Iraq hopes President Trump and will help minority religious groups in the region. Bashar Warda, the Chaldean Catholic Archbishop of Erbil in Iraq, said as long as Trump’s executive order includes special preferences for all victims of ISIS, it can be a positive for Christians in the region, whose plight Trump has been sympathetic to.

“I would personally prefer that our people stay here in their ancient homeland, but I also understand that many have lost hope,” Archbishop Warda said to Fox News. “They have suffered too much and want to leave. It is not my place to force them to stay.

“That said, the fact that an American administration seems to know that there are Christians and other religious minorities here who need help is something I find heartening. I hope this means that we will no longer be excluded from U.S. government and UN aid, which our people desperately need.”

Warda, a key figure in the beleaguered Iraqi Christian community, has been vocal in the past about the lack of assistance from the U.S. government to Christians and other minorities in the region. Now, he hopes the current administration in Washington has started a helpful dialogue.

“How is it possible that a community suffered genocide, that has seen its numbers decline by more than 8 in 10 in a little over a decade, [receives] nothing at all from the American government that is funding countless humanitarian projects for internally displaced persons in this country?” he said.

The Nineveh Plain region, also known as the Plain of Mosul, has been the ancestral homeland of Assyrian-Chaldean-Syriac Christians, Yazidis and other minorities — all of whom were under attack from ISIS since the terror group rose in 2014. These ethnic and religious minority groups were driven from the Plain when the Islamic State attempted to establish their caliphate.

One of the most awful results of George W. Bush’s war in Iraq has been the devastation of the Christian churches there. Donald Trump condemned the Bush’s Iraq slaughter in no uncertain terms. Furthermore, he’s promised to protect Christian refugees. As Bradford Richardson pointed out in the Washington Times,

Advocates who work to protect persecuted groups say there is a “blind spot” in the West concerning the plight faced by Christians around the world — a shortsightedness evident in the overwhelmingly negative reaction to President Trump’s executive order granting preferred refugee status to persecuted religious minorities.

From the Coptics in Egypt and the “house churches” in China to the “subversives” in North Korea and the “apostates” in Pakistan, Christians are under fire on the international stage.

Paul Coleman, deputy director of the Alliance Defending Freedom International, said the international persecution of Christians is unrivaled. “No person or group should live in fear of being killed, tortured or oppressed because of their religious beliefs,” Mr. Coleman said in a statement. “By all accounts Christians are the most persecuted group on the planet.”

We need an administration that cares about this issue!

Liberals Value Convicted Felon Illegal Alien More than American Citizens and Laws

Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos is being used as a poster illegal by liberals and the mainstream media in their attempt to show just how cruel President Trump’s deportation order is. The fact is, she is a convicted felon and should have been deported years ago, but Obama illegally allowed her to remain in the country.

Rayos came to the United States illegally when she was 14, around 20 years ago. Whether she entered the country with her parents, other family or friends, makes no difference. At 14 years of age, she had to have known that she was violating US immigration law.

If she didn’t know it then, she has had around 20 years to try to correct the matter and go through proper legal avenues to attain citizenship, but she hasn’t. We have close friends that immigrated to the United States legally. It took them a number of years but they persevered and came here legally. Then they went through the necessary procedures to become American citizens. They legally applied for and received valid Social Security Numbers so they could work and pay taxes. When talking to them, they say that they are deeply offended and upset by how Barack Obama allowed millions of illegals to remain in the country. Our friends say that every illegal should be forced to go through the proper legal channels that they and millions of other legal immigrants have gone through. They also strongly believe that every illegal should be deported and forced to use legal means to enter the country or face deportation or imprisonment.

One of these close legal immigrant friends told us that yes, America is a nation of immigrants but it’s a nation of legal immigrants, people who came here legally. My wife’s father was a legal immigrant from Barbados. He applied to come to the US. He was processed through Ellis Island and then worked to become a US citizen. He also felt strongly about illegals needing to be deported and forced to use the same legal means that he used.

In the case of Rayos, she was arrested in 2008 and charged with three felonies, including using an ‘alien number’ that belonged to an older man and using a Social Security Number of a man living in Tucson. Because she was using false documents for financial gain, her charges were listed as felonies. She eventually took a plea deal where she plead guilty to criminal impersonation which is a Class 6 felony. Even though Class 6 is the lowest level of felony charge, it is still a felony. She was sentenced to time served (three months in jail waiting prosecution) and two years of probation.

She should have been deported then, but she appealed the deportation and due to Obama’s lax immigration policies, she was allowed to remain and work in the US.

Her lawyer told the media that she was just trying to work to support herself and her family and that she really wasn’t doing anything wrong. Let’s face it, Rayos is guilty of knowingly committing at least 4 crimes – entering the US illegally, and the other three that she was arrested for. Not exactly the model immigrant that the liberal media is making her out to be.

Just because Obama’s immigration policies prevented her from being deported in 2009, doesn’t make it wrong for President Trump’s order to deport her now. Obama’s immigration policies were harmful to the United States and the American people. The only reason he allowed millions of illegals to remain in the country was in hopes of getting enough of them to vote illegally in the November election to keep a Democrat in in the White House and regain control of Congress, and it almost worked.

It’s obvious that we have a nation of liberals who care more about illegal aliens than they do for American citizens. When foreigners who violate our laws mean more than the rights and laws of our nation, it’s a sure sign that America is going down the toilet.

NY Post: Tillerson Lost First Fight With Trump Over Abrams

President Donald Trump and newly approved Secretary of State Rex Tillerson are facing their first major disagreement after the president rejected former deputy national security adviser Elliott Abrams as Tillerson’s number two man at the State Department.

“Tillerson fought the president and went back to try to salvage it,” a source told The New York Post, claiming that Trump’s chief strategist Steve Bannon “did not want Abrams.”

Trump overruled Tillerson on Abrams after meeting with the two men at the Oval Office on Tuesday. Sources said the Tuesday meeting mostly concerned a foreign policy talk between Trump and Tillerson, and some time after that, the president changed his mind on Abrams.

During Trump’s 2016 campaign, Abrams who served in foreign policy positions for Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush, often criticized Trump and questioned his fitness for office.

Abrams, a senior fellow for Middle Eastern Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations and a regular contributor to The Weekly Standard, told Politico last March that he was in a quandry because he could not vote for either Trump or Hillary Clinton.

“1972 was the first time I was old enough to vote for president, and I did not vote,” Abrams said “Couldn’t vote for McGovern for foreign policy reasons, nor for Nixon because of Watergate. I may be in the same boat in 2016, unable to vote for Trump or Clinton.”

Abrams also outlined his concerns in a May piece, “When You Can’t Stand Your Candidate” for The Weekly Standard. The Post’s source said that some of Abrams’ writings also became an issue, even though they had not posed a problem earlier in the selection process.

“The White House leaked the fact that Trump was meeting with Tillerson and Abrams Tuesday, and that Abrams was Tillerson’s choice,” another source told The Post. “After the meeting the White House let people know the meeting went well, and it was a done deal. Then, with no warning, the White House pulls the plug. Tillerson must be furious.”

The argument appears to be the first major disagreement between Tillerson and Trump, who has also rejected personnel backed by Secretary of Defense James Mattis. Neither the White House or the State Department commented to The Post.

However, sources who have spoken with Trump told The New York Times that Trump is becoming more focused on whether people supported or opposed him during the campaign. In addition to Tillerson, Abrams was backed by Trump son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner, Arkansas GOP Sen. Tom Cotton, and members of the pro-Israel lobbying group Aipac.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, however, has been saying for days that he would not vote to confirm Abrams and in fact would join others in filibustering his nomination because of his role in the Iran-Contra affair, the Iraq War, and other serious foreign policy issues.

GOP fights ObamaCare PR war

Republicans are facing a new public relations war in their effort to repeal and replace ObamaCare. The GOP Congress has repeatedly approved legislation to repeal ObamaCare, but those proposals went nowhere with President Obama in the White House. Now that Republicans also hold the White House, the challenge for the GOP is taking the long-promised action in a way that won’t backfire politically. And that’s turning out to be harder than many anticipated.

Polls show the public is divided on whether to repeal ObamaCare, which doesn’t make the task of unraveling one of the largest social programs passed in recent history any easier.

Republicans say the key to winning the public relations battle is for their party to highlight the weaknesses of ObamaCare, a law even most Democrats admit could improve from legislative changes.

“I think the thing that, simply from a Republican standpoint, is to point out it’s a failing system,” said GOP Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.), who pointed to rising insurance premiums and fewer choices for consumers as significant problems that will spur public support for the GOP’s plans.

The GOP arguments are being made to a politically polarized population on edge after the 2016 presidential election. Democrats are doing everything they can to make it tougher for Republicans to take action on ObamaCare. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) says Republicans want to “Make America Sick Again,” playing off of President Trump’s campaign slogan. Other Democratic senators have said repealing ObamaCare will lead to the deaths of thousands of people.

Republicans have faced angry crowds at some town halls, where people have expressed their displeasure at possibly losing health benefits. While Republicans contend that much of the opposition at the local events is being ginned up by Democrats, it appears to have had an effect. Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.) tells upset constituents that Republicans are aware that repealing ObamaCare must result in a “much-improved health system.”

“We will be judged on our success in doing so,” he said.

A GOP aide to a congressman who faced a contentious town hall earlier this month said it’s about finding common ground.

“Even though they may disagree on the overall repeal of the ACA, he still believes it’s not sustainable…. From what he’s heard so far, I think he understands there is room for common ground and solutions.”

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has been on a media blitz to paint ObamaCare as a disaster. But his efforts have been challenged by disunity on the GOP side. Some Republicans are now talking about repairing ObamaCare, while others are in more of a repeal or bust camp. The party still hasn’t coalesced around a replacement plan, which makes taking on Democrats tougher.

“Until everyone is on the same page, it’s very hard to combat a lot of those allegations,” said Ford O’Connell, a GOP strategist.

“If they’re not looking like they’re walking in a unified front and like they have the perfect solution, it’s going to be very hard to get public support on your side.”

Republicans blew past a self-imposed January 27 deadline to have repeal legislation drafted. Leaked audio of Republicans speaking at their GOP conference highlighted differences within the party. If Republicans want to get, and keep public support as they try to repeal ObamaCare, they need to appear to be on the same page, said GOP strategist Matt Mackowiak.

“Republican unity is crucial. Finding a bill that Susan Collins and Jim Jordan can support and agree on is difficult,” he said, referring to two Republicans who appear to be on the opposite side of their party.

“If Republicans are divided and Democrats are unified, that’s a great way to lose this battle before it begins.”

Republicans believe they have a mandate to take action on ObamaCare. For evidence, just look at the election, they say.

Rep. Diane Black, who faced a fiery crowd at a townhall in Tennessee on Thursday night, doubled down on the Republican’s goal to repeal ObamaCare.

“While there were strong feelings at this forum, there is no mistaking the clear message Tennesseans sent last November at the ballot box when they sent Congressman Black and President Trump to Washington to repeal ObamaCare and put patients back in control of their healthcare choices,” her office said in a statement Friday.

“As a registered nurse, Congressman Black ran for office on a platform of providing relief from this disastrous law, and she is intent on keeping that pledge.”

Reba McEntire: Fans Don’t Pay Their ‘Hard-Earned Money’ to Hear Politics

Country music star Reba McEntire gave a lasting lesson to other entertainers on Wednesday’s episode of “The View.” The musician and actress was asked about entertainers preaching politics from public stages and how her audience might react if she followed suit.

“My fans would be shocked,” the Grammy winner said. “I take it this way: They have paid their hard-earned money to come in there and fill a seat — parking, getting something at the concession stand, go and eat before the concert. [And] I am there to entertain them, to take their worries away from them, so when they walk out, they can kind of have a little lift in their step and go, ‘Aw, that was such a great break from all the problems I have to deal with during daily life.’ So I’m not going to give them my political views.”

McEntire’s words are refreshing as more and more entertainers exploit their public stages to make political points. Rapper Drake just went on an anti-Trump rant at a concert — and everybody remembers the Golden Globes and Meryl Streep’s hogging of the spotlight.

McEntire has a little more gratitude to show her fans. She demonstrates consideration for the “hard-earned money” people fork over to see her perform. She is able to see the positive value her art can have — unlike many others today. Art has the power to lift, to unify, and to give a break to people from such things as politics. McEntire understands that and chooses to use her talents in a positive way, rather than in a divisive way. Her words should serve as a lesson to artists who overvalue their importance and choose to negatively impact pop culture.

Just because McEntire has political opinions doesn’t mean she thinks people pay to hear them. And it doesn’t mean she needs to suppress them, either. Through her music, she can express whatever thoughts and feelings she has. She can broaden the understanding of humanity and life through art — that is what people pay for.

When asked if her decision to refrain from going political was for fear of losing some fans, McEntire said, “That’s not as important as this is my job to entertain. It shouldn’t be my platform to be up on stage giving my political views.”

President Trump and the GOP-controlled Congress are working to undo President Obama’s actions on climate change, underlining what could be a major shift on a policy that affects the world. While it’s been just three weeks since Trump’s inauguration, the president has already issued memos to approve the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, which were both blocked by Obama partly due to concerns about how they would contribute to climate change.

Trump has also sought to limit regulations with another executive order, while the House has passed four measures under the Congressional Review Act to unwind Obama-era rules on energy. Two of those measures have also passed the Senate.

Energy has emerged as an area in which Trump and congressional Republicans are unified, and their actions have signaled to energy companies and climate change activists alike that Trump and congressional Republicans are serious about implementing a wholesale change in how the United States deals with big policy questions related to global warming.“I think we’re off to a great start,” said Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.), a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee who consistently complained that Obama tried to stymie development of coal, oil and natural gas due to climate change concerns.

“The shift is moving toward a commonsense energy policy,” Daines said. “President Obama’s energy policies did not make sense. President Trump is putting forward a commonsense, all-of-the-above plan which will encourage more made-in-America energy.”

Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), an outspoken climate activist, said Trump and his allies have been “every bit as bad as people had feared.”

“You can’t make this stuff up. It sounds like it’s out of a bad movie about politics,” he said.

He noted that two of the measures passed by Congress eliminate requirements that energy companies disclose the payments they make to foreign governments for energy production and repeal a rule meant to protect streams from coal mining waste.

Obama made fighting climate change a second-term priority. He relied largely on unilateral executive actions, such as his Clean Power Plan rules limiting carbon dioxide emissions from power plants. Obama also signed orders imposing limits on methane emissions from oil and natural gas drilling. He helped negotiate the Paris climate agreement, in which nearly 200 nations agreed to limit their greenhouse gas emissions, and blocked federal permits that the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines needed.

During his campaign, Trump, who has said that climate change is a hoax, promised to reverse many of these policies.

He has tapped pro-fossil fuel officials to lead key agencies, including former Exxon Mobil Corp. CEO Rex Tillerson for secretary of State, Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt for Environmental Protection Agency administrator, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) for Energy secretary and Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-Mont.) for Interior secretary.

On Capitol Hill, House Republicans are working to overhaul how the EPA uses science as part of an effort to roll back what they see as unjustifiable regulations. Tom Pyle, president of the right-leaning Institute for Energy Research, said Trump is likely to implement even more campaign promises soon.

“The key will be getting an energy and environment team in place, and that includes the White House. And once the Senate Democrats get through their process of getting over the fact that they lost and letting these guys get in place and begin to implement the president’s agenda, there’s going to be much more activity,” said Pyle, who served on Trump’s transition team at the Energy Department.

The Sierra Club, a conservation group, is also girding for more action from Trump.

“Trump and the GOP Congress have made it crystal clear that clean air, clean water and public health are public enemy No. 1 in America so long as they control our federal government,” said John Coequyt, global climate program director at the Sierra Club.

“Trump and the GOP have many more terrible plans in store for our environment and public health safeguards, but the good news is that states, cities, and companies across the country are moving ahead toward an economy powered by clean energy regardless,” he continued, citing data showing recent growth in renewable energy.

The culture war comes to a Tennessee high school football game

The scene: A high school football player lies injured on the ground. Just minutes before, he was doing the thing he would almost certainly choose to do above all else. Now he is seemingly paralyzed and unable to move his legs. The clock ticks. Nothing changes. A half hour passes, with the young man still lying on the field as the crowd looks on and grows increasingly uncomfortable with what the fates have in store. The situation appears hopeless.

Then, into that breach, steps another player. He asks a youth pastor in attendance at the game to offer a prayer. Gridiron opponents quickly become brothers-in-arms as players and coaches from both teams bow their head and call down aid from above. There is light in the darkness, and after the impromptu prayer huddle breaks with an “Amen,” the grateful crowd applauds.

But in that crowd is also someone for whom the consolations of God are a grievous offense. Where others see peace and possibility, they see a dire need to make the world flat. And so, anonymously of course, like a certain serpent in the garden, they make a call to the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF). A group based in Wisconsin that has been remarkably successful at doing what should be impossible: Convincing people that our country’s founding was based on godlessness.

The prayer, the FFRF has charged along with the male complainant, is a violation of the Constitution. No matter that there is nothing even remotely resembling the establishment of a religion going on here. Or that this is exactly what the free exercise clause of the First Amendment is designed to protect.

Evil is on the march, and marching out in the open.

Because we don’t do open-and-shut cases anymore when it comes to the foundational principles of our country. We choke the life out of them.

We’ve been down this road over and over again. In case you haven’t heard, we even sue nuns now for not paying for other women to have sex. This is what eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil ultimately looks like in a culture bent on committing suicide, via the joyless crusade of the God-haters. They have traded a righteous inheritance for a cesspool and called it the dictates of “reason.” Yet that word most certainly doesn’t mean what they think it means. For these types of fools never seem to run out of ways to torpedo dignity and civility with their ugliness and folly. There’s nothing “reasonable” about that. Only sadness and wickedness.

Such a bad tree will produce bad fruit. Like a new investigative video, which revealed Planned Parenthood implementing abortion quotas to increase the number of dead babies at the hands of their modern-day holocaust. Including the use of pizza parties to motivate employees to sell and perform more murders. That is the pitch-black utopia the God-haters seek to sell us.

What a vile trade the usurpers of liberty are making. Prayer is oppression, while promoting violence against the innocent is lionized as fundamental to the future of democracy. And they’re not even pretend to hide it from us anymore. Evil is on the march, and marching out in the open.

The devil is telling us exactly who he is, and showing us the ash heap of history he desires to jettison us. Sadly, some of our fellow countrymen thunderously applause at this ode to the macabre. The Declaration of Independence is a dead letter to them, and the most fundamental right is to strip the world of any ultimate meaning other than the whims of the self.

“Ye will be like God,” said the serpent, with forked tongue. The same forked tongue being used to lie to us now. There’s always fine print, though, when it comes to that sort of Faustian bargain. And rest assured, the devil is always in those details.

Which brings me to another man of faith, who once said a prayer in the face of the laughter of those who did not believe. He uttered the phrase “Talitha Koum,” and a little girl rose from the dead to the wonderment of all. Good thing that didn’t happen on a public high school football field, or Jesus could have expected a strongly worded letter from the Freedom From Religion Foundation. And maybe even a court injunction to go along with his scourging and crown of thorns.

There are simply moments that belong to God alone to bring light to the darkness in our midst. Those in attendance at that high school football game in Tennessee recognized just such a moment when they fell on bended knee and sought out God’s mercy, and my prayer for them is this: May their righteous response to the Freedom From Religion Foundation’s jihad be to pray all the louder and all the more publicly in the future, and may that include praying for the souls of the God-haters who seek to persecute them. For God is just, and His justice cannot sleep forever.

“Bias Response Teams” – Are They Destroying Free Speech on College Campuses?

No one likes to be silenced. No one wants to be told what they can or cannot talk about. However, this is what is beginning to happen on college campuses all across America. It is an end-around free speech, rather than blatantly removing the rights of the students.

At least this is the apparent result, according to a recent study.

Heat Street reports:

So-called “Bias Response Teams” are creeping onto university campuses across the country. This was the conclusion of the first national survey of Bias Response Teams done by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE).

The report identified 232 public and private American colleges and universities that had bias response teams on their campuses in 2016, affecting around 2.8 million students.

BRTs encourage students to formally report on other students and faculty members whenever they perceive that someone’s speech is “biased,” which threatens free speech.

These Bias Response Teams are run by administrators and volunteer police personnel. And they are encouraging students to report those who may have or are expressing a biased opinion on a subject. It also includes the way people dress for Halloween and the things they share on social media.

Heat Street continues:

Most universities receive a variety of complaints from students, including students who encounter “offensive” yet legally protected speech, but rather than responding to these incidents fairly if there’s an actual threat, campuses with Bias Response Teams conduct an investigation and if the “respondent” is found “guilty”, invite them for a “hearing”.

FIRE Senior Program Officer Adam Steinbaugh said: “Inviting students to report a broad range of speech to campus authorities casts a chilling pall over free speech rights.

“Bias response teams solicit reports of a wide range of constitutionally protected speech, including speech about politics and social issues. Rather than encourage students to confront ideas they do not agree with, they are teaching them to run to the governing authority. Let “Big Brother” curtail speech that we find offensive or unpleasant; another step in the destruction of free thought and open debate. This fear tactic also destroys free speech, as it makes the consequences too high to speak out.

Born in a refugee camp, this Iranian Kurd came to Copenhagen as a toddler. She grew up loving firearms. When she was old enough, she left to join the fight… for the GOOD GUYS!

Palani is the first foreign fighter to be jailed under new passport laws and is currently being held in Denmark’s largest prison, Vestre Fængsel in Copenhagen. …Her lawyer, Erbil Kaya, noted the irony of seeking to prosecute someone who fought on the same side as Danish troops and other coalition forces while the government seeks to rehabilitate returning Isis fighters.

…Returning Isis fighters have benefited from the so-called Aarhus model of reintegration and deradicalisation instead of custodial sentences. Under the Aarhus model, returning fighters are assigned mentors, psychological counselling and are helped to apply for jobs or to resume education.

Let that thought sink in.

TRUMPED: How President Trump Baited The Media Into Covering Terrorist Attacks

At this rate, Media will spend the next four years playing catch-up. The media doesn’t report news anymore. They frame narratives.

They use keywords and phrases to not just INFORM the public, but to INFLUENCE how they will react to the news they are hearing about. We have seen hints that it’s all coordinated, too. Like the use of certain words (like the word ‘dark’) by nearly EVERY left-leaning news outlet to describe Trump’s speech at the GOP convention.

They don’t mention the seven nations covered by the Executive Order, for instance, without first inserting the leading phrase ‘Muslim-majority’. (Coincidence? Hell no.)

Historically, this tactic has been absolutely LETHAL to Republican politicians. The media attack machine, when unleashed, has a long line of ‘assassinated’ political careers. Again, not a coincidence. They could use an innocent clumsy phrase, like ‘binders full of women’ as a cudgel to beat us down.

Then along came Trump.

Not only has he been completely impervious to their frenzied attacks — only Dubya has seen hysterical venom that has even come close to these levels — but he’s making them look like clowns.

It’s a political game of rope-a-dope.

They think they’re baiting him to destroy him… and (to continue the boxing analogy) wind up face own on the mat, wondering what hit them. This time, for instance, they were pounding on him, like usual, over the travel ban. He called them out for being fake news, saying they hadn’t given proper coverage to terror attacks. He issued a list of attacks they hadn’t covered adequately.

What did they do? The set to work ‘proving him wrong’. The started talking about the terror attacks. It was beautiful. The LEFT was playing defense by calling him a liar. See? We covered 74% of those attacks!

This gave the RIGHT an opportunity to point out that whenever there WAS an attack, the Left consistently moves heaven and earth to avoid connecting motive to Islam. Evidence be damned.

Result? When the motive for the travel ban was to protect Americans from dangerous countries… the antagonistic media spends whole news cycles discussing exactly WHICH dangers Trump is aiming to defend us from.

Pretty slick, that.

Democrats are doing everything they can to obstruct the confirmation of Trump’s team. It’s not doing much good considering the fact that Betsy DeVos and Jeff Sessions have been confirmed in the last few days. Their strategy is simple. If they can’t stop Trump’s nominees, they’ll just try to damage them as much as possible.

Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer had a different attitude about this a few years ago, however.

Thanks to Google, there’s no such thing as the memory hole. Just about everything is neatly archived on the Internet forever, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s hypocritical political record on presidential nominees.

Schumer might insist Democrats are just acting as a constitutional check on the administration by slowing executive nominees. But a quick search shows he once decried what he’s now embracing.

Four years ago, Obama had just won a second term, Democrats controlled the Senate, and Schumer was getting annoyed with Republicans. “Just about everyone in America—Democrat, Republican, liberal, conservative—believe that once you elect a president,” Schumer said, “he deserves his choices to run the executive branch.”

Because the minority wouldn’t sign off, Schumer accused them of holding the government hostage. Republicans were, he argued, “trying to “paralyze the executive branch the way they’ve paralyzed the legislative branches because they really don’t want the government to function.”

Bill Targeting Legal Immigration Could Save $1.7 Trillion. Experts contend reducing low-skill, low-education chain migration could also boost wages

A bill offered by a pair of Senate Republicans this week to reduce immigration could save taxpayers $1.7 trillion, according to back-of-the-envelope calculations by a scholar at The Heritage Foundation.

The sponsors of the bill, Sens. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) and David Perdue (R-Ga.), have not estimated the fiscal impact of the proposal. But they cite models projecting that the result of eliminating an immigration diversity visa program and prohibiting new citizens from sponsoring their extended family members would reduce legal immigration by about 4.3 million people over the first 10 years. Most of the people who come into the United States to join family members have low skills and little education, making them less likely to succeed in the U.S. economy.

Citing data from the National Academies of Sciences, Heritage Senior Research Fellow Robert Rector projected the net lifetime cost to taxpayers of the typical immigrant with a high school degree or less at $400,000. That is the net of costs minus taxes paid at all levels of government. If all of the would-be immigrants who would be stopped from coming had high school degrees or less, according to the projections, the lifetime savings to taxpayers would be about $1.7 trillion.

“The fiscal impact would be very strong and very positive,” Rector said.

A large and obvious source of taxpayer savings would be government-assistance programs designed to help the working poor. This includes programs such as food stamps, Medicaid, and housing subsidies. Immigrants without advanced education and skills tend to be heavy users of those programs, just like natives of that profile.

“It doesn’t matter whether you come from Mexico or Indiana,” Rector said.

But Rector said the costs of low-skill immigration go beyond anti-poverty programs. “Conservatives have deluded themselves that the whole cost of government is means-tested welfare,” he said.

The typical low-skill worker does not pay nearly enough in taxes to pay for the benefits he receives, Rector said. As just one example, he cited public education, where the average annual cost is about $12,000 per student. Low-income Americans also cost more in Social Security and Medicare when they get older than they pay in payroll taxes for those programs, he added.

Strong Opposition Looming

In a sign of the opposition that the Reforming American Immigration for Strong Employment (RAISE) Act is likely to face, Sen Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) quickly released a statement criticizing the proposal. “This legislation sends a terrible message to the rest of the world and is unquestionably a job killer,” she stated. “As a nation of immigrants, this bill runs counter to our values.”

Roy Beck, president of NumbersUSA, pointed out that previous proposals for “comprehensive immigration reform” contained provisions to reduce chain migration. He said this bill would reverse decades of immigration policy that have resulted in the nation currently housing the most foreign-born residents in U.S. history. “It would be the biggest change in immigration since the 1965 act,” he said. “It would be the first one since 1924 that would act to reduce immigration.”

Steven Camarota, director of research at the Center for Immigration Studies, said calculating the precise fiscal impact of the bill is difficult. He noted that Rector’s estimate, for instance, does not account for the effect of inflation over decades. The impact also depends on other policy decisions that are unknowable in the long run. Camarota said not all immigrants who arrive via family reunification lack skills and education. Educated foreigners who arrive on employment-based visas are more likely to have extended family members who also have education and skills, he noted. But he said the impact on taxpayers “almost certainly” would be positive.

Proponents argue the law would do more than save taxpayer money. They contend it also would benefit American workers, particularly those with the least education and skills who compete directly with low-skill immigrants for jobs. Cotton said Wednesday on “The Laura Ingraham Show” that 14 out of 15 immigrants arrive in the U.S. without the government checking on their skills or education. “The effect of it simply is to drive down wages for people who work with their hands and work on their feet, people with a high school diploma or less,” Cotton said. “The very people we’re hurting are the previous generation of immigrants who are most likely to face more competition for the very same jobs they’re working today. So, I would say that my legislation is both pro-immigration and pro-immigrant.”

Impact Would Grow Over Time

Camarota said with 325 million people total and 150 million in the labor force, the country is too big to see much of an impact from a reduction of 300,000 to 400,000 workers in Year 1. “It would take awhile for it to have a big impact,” he said. “The economy and the workforce are very large … But over 10 years, it begins to add up.”

The impact would be greatest in certain geographic areas and for certain occupations where immigrants are disproportionately represented, he said. Camarota said foreign-born workers, for instance, make up 49 percent of maids working in the United States.

However, Camarota said other effects are hard to predict. For instance, he noted, there is some evidence that immigrants flooding into areas like Southern California may have reduced the number of Americans moving there from other parts of the country. If immigration dropped sharply, it might draw more natives to those areas, canceling out whatever wage effect the immigration cut produced.

But there are real-world examples of how a sharp decline in immigration has impacted wages. The Wall Street Journal reported last year that a 40 percent decline in immigrants from 2007 to 2012 prompted by an Arizona law targeting illegal immigrants in the state led to wage gains in certain industries.

Beck said he thinks it has a chance. “This is really going to be decided by [House Speaker Paul] Ryan, [Senate Majority Leader Mitch] McConnell, and the 10 Democratic senators up for re-election in states that Trump won,” he said.

GOP states move to block sanctuary cities after Trump order

Amid protests over President Trump’s executive order aiming to block federal funding to so-called sanctuary cities, Republican legislators across the country are moving to deny their own funding to cities that refuse to comply with federal immigration authorities.

The Texas state Senate on Wednesday passed a measure to block state funding to cities in which law enforcement officials disregard federal immigration laws. The measure would require police agencies to hold anyone in custody until U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement is able to verify their immigration status, or risk losing state funding.

Similar legislation has been introduced in Ohio, Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, Iowa, Idaho and Pennsylvania. Other laws are likely to be introduced in the coming weeks. Many are inspired by Trump’s executive orders barring refugees and blocking all immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries.

“What he’s doing is a great idea. We need to protect Americans, we need to protect Tennesseans,” state Sen. Mark Green (R), author of his state’s version of the sanctuary city ban, said in an interview. “We’re going to take it a step further and enhance what the president is doing and take state dollars from cities that decide, because they want to, to ignore ICE detainers.”Civil rights groups that oppose bans on sanctuary cities say the measures are questionable, and many promised to challenge the bills in court if they become law. Local law enforcement agencies that decline to participate with federal immigration authorities say their approach helps them build trust with immigrant communities. If undocumented immigrants are afraid for their own safety, they are less likely to report crimes or cooperate with local police. “Many cities and some states and other municipalities have made the decision that they’re not going to use their jails, their police officers, their city resources to do immigration enforcement,” Omar Jadwat, a senior attorney at the American Civil Liberties Union’s Immigrants Rights Project, told The Hill last year. “And that is completely within their rights.”

Local law enforcement agencies are not required to enforce immigration statutes or to comply with detention requests from ICE. But the new round of state proposals would use state grant money as leverage to require local compliance. Some of the new proposals go farther by holding local officials accountable for their city’s actions. In Ohio, a proposal backed by state Treasurer Josh Mandel (R) — who is challenging Sen. Sherrod Brown (D) in 2018 — would charge officials with a fourth-degree felony, punishable by up to 18 months in prison, if an undocumented immigrant is charged with a crime.

A Florida proposal would require government officials to report possible violations to the state attorney general or risk expulsion from office. The Florida bill would fine local governments up to $5,000 a day for maintaining sanctuary policies.

North Carolina’s version would withhold tax revenues from natural gas, telecommunications and beer and wine sales from any locality that maintains a sanctuary policy. State lawmakers banned sanctuary cities in 2015, though that measure has no enforcement mechanism.

In Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has already moved to block about $1.8 million in state grants to Travis County, where the local sheriff has implemented a sanctuary policy. “I will not tolerate sanctuary city policies that put the citizens of Texas at risk,” Abbott said in a statement Thursday. “Elected officials do not get to pick and choose which laws they will obey.”

Trump’s order has already forced one local government, Miami-Dade County, to drop its sanctuary policy.

Since the day after Trump won election, Democrat-led states have pursued an opposite path in hopes of protecting undocumented residents, setting up likely legal clashes. California legislators are working on a package of laws that would create legal defense funds for those swept up in immigration raids, while Oregon Gov. Kate Brown (D) ordered state agencies to avoid asking about immigration statuses of those with whom they come into contact.

“In California, immigrants are an integral part of who we are and what we’ve become,” Gov. Jerry Brown (D) told legislators in his state of the state address last month. “We will defend everybody, every man, woman and child, who has come here for a better life and has contributed to the well-being of our state.”

There is no legal definition of a sanctuary city, county or state. But hundreds of jurisdictions across the country — including the entire states of California, Connecticut, New Mexico and Colorado — label themselves as such. Washington, D.C.; Arlington, Va.; Philadelphia; New York City; Boston; Baltimore; New Orleans and other major cities have all adopted sanctuary policies.

If only we were able to deport citizens, we could use Trump’s new policy of excluding those who are “hostile” toward our country to get rid of Judge James Robart. Judge Robart’s veto of Trump’s travel ban notwithstanding, there is not the slightest question but that the president, in his sole discretion, can choose to admit or exclude any foreigners he likes, based on “the interests of the United States.”

The Clinton administration used the executive branch’s broad power over immigration to send a 6-year-old boy back to a communist dictatorship. The courts were completely powerless to stop him.

As explained by the federal appellate court that ruled on Elian Gonzalez’s asylum application: “It is the duty of the Congress and of the executive branch to exercise political will,” and “in no context is the executive branch entitled to more deference than in the context of foreign affairs,” which includes immigration.

The court acknowledged that Elian might well be subjected to “re-education,” “communist indoctrination” and “political manipulation.” (Then again, so would enrolling him at Sidwell Friends.) It didn’t matter! Sending little boys back to communist dictatorships was the policy of the Clinton administration.

The Obama administration’s immigration policy was to ensure that millions of poverty-stricken foreigners would come here and help turn our country into a Mexican version of Pakistan. When Arizona merely tried to enforce the federal immigration laws being ignored by the Obama administration, the entire media erupted in rage at this incursion into the majestic power of the president over immigration. They said it was like living in Nazi Germany!

The most reviled section of the act, melodramatically called the “Papers Please” law, was upheld by the Supreme Court. But the other parts, allowing state officials to enforce federal immigration laws, were ruled unconstitutional. A president’s policy choice to ignore immigration laws supersedes a state’s right to enforce them.

The court conceded that hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens were arrested in Arizona each year, that they were responsible for “a disproportionate share of serious crime,” and that illegals constituted nearly 6 percent of Arizona’s population.

But Arizona was powerless to enforce laws on the books — if those laws happened to be about immigration. The president’s authority over immigration is absolute and exclusive, as part of his authority over foreign policy.

To review:

— When the president’s immigration policy is to promote international communism: The president wins.

— When the president’s immigration policy is to transform America into a different country: The president wins.

— But when the president’s immigration policy is to protect Americans: Some piss-ant judge announces that his authority exceeds that of the president.

This is exactly what I warned you about in Adios, America: The Left’s Plan to Turn Our Country into a Third World Hellhole. Nothing Trump does will be met with such massive resistance as his immigration policies.

The left used to attack America by spying for Stalin, aiding our enemies, murdering cops and blowing up buildings. But, then liberals realized, it’s so much more effective to just do away with America altogether! Teddy Kennedy gave them their chance with the 1965 immigration act. Since then, we’ve been taking in more than a million immigrants a year, 90 percent from comically primitive cultures. They like the welfare, but have very little interest in adopting the rest of our culture.

In many parts of the country, you’re already not living in America. Just a few more years, and the transformation will be complete. There will be a North American landmass known as “the United States,” but it won’t be our country. The only thing that stands between America and oblivion is a total immigration moratorium. We are well past the point of quick fixes — as Judge Robart’s delusional ruling proves.

The judiciary, both political parties, the media, Hollywood, corporate America and approximately 1 million lobbying groups are all working frantically to bring the hardest cases to our shores. Left-wing traitors, who used to honeymoon in Cuba and fight with peasant revolutionaries in Peru, toil away, late into the night, to ensure that genocidal Rwandans can move to America and immediately start collecting food stamps, Medicaid and Social Security.

No matter how clearly laws are written, government bureaucrats connive to import people from countries that a majority of Americans would not want to visit, much less become. Federal judges issue lunatic rulings to ensure that there will never be a pause in the transformation of America.

Congress could write laws requiring immigrants to pay taxes, learn English, forgo welfare and have good moral character. It could write laws giving the president authority to exclude aliens in the public interest. Except it already has. Those laws were swept away by INS officials, federal judges and Democratic administrations — under ferocious pressure from America-hating, left-wing groups.

And that’s only a small fraction of the anti-American immigration groups assiduously dragging the Third World to our shores — while you were busy working.

Look at that list — look at Judge Robart’s ruling! — and ask yourself: Is it possible that anything short of a total immigration moratorium can save this country? Only when there is no immigration to bellyache about will these nuts be forced to think of a new way to destroy America.

Two New Shocking Polls Prove the Democrats are ALL Wrong

Dueling polls released by CBS and UC Berkeley should be all the proof that Americans need to understand just how out-of-touch the Democrat Party is with the rest of America.

First, a new poll from the liberals at University of California Berkeley is sending shockwaves throughout the state of California. The pollster asked if California residents would like to see the state BAN so-called “Sanctuary Cities” and found that roughly 74% of Californians wished that the state would end “Sanctuary” practices! Remember California easily sided with Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump in the most recent election, but still the vast majority of the state’s voters want to see Sanctuary Cities outlawed. The poll found that 82% of Republicans want the ban, 74% of Democrats, 70% of Independents, and, most surprisingly, 65% of Hispanics!

As if this poll from UC Berkeley weren’t shocking enough, CBS has another poll which is just as shocking but far more disheartening. According to a new poll released from CBS only one out of seven (roughly 15%) Democrats believes that Islam is more “violent” than Christianity. Comparatively about 60% of Republicans believe that Islam is more violent. This poll is shocking in that it unmasks the utter delusion that most Democrats must be living under. Thankfully, the folks at the Daily Wire have offered 7 pieces of evidence to prove that Islam is far more violent than Christianity.

Islamic countries and Muslim-majority countries are far more violent and intolerant than any of the two Christian countries on earth or better yet, any of the Christian-majority countries.

Islamic religious apologists are selectively blind to the macabre history of Islam.

A far larger percentage of Muslims are biblical literalists compared to Christians.

Currently, Islam treats Jews far worse than Christianity does. How a majority religion treats the Jews is a litmus test for its level of civility.

When Jesus is mocked, Christians take to social media. When Muhammad is drawn, even in the gentlest light, Muslims burn down embassies and slaughter cartoonists in cold blood.
The world is being torn apart by Islamic terrorists.

Islam hasn’t had a reformation. Christianity has.

Some of these arguments are more convincing than others, but for me the ones which carry the most weight point to the difference in history and theology. Throughout Muslim history, the Muslim world has ALWAYS been embroiled in religious warfare. Literally, from day one, some portion of the Muslim world has been fighting to expand its borders. While this may have been an issue at certain points in Christian history, the days when Christianity was spread through war ended more than 500 years ago.

Theologically, the teachings of orthodox Christianity are incompatible with acts of violence not perpetrated in self-defense. Meanwhile, violence is a feature of the Islamic faith. Where Christianity teaches the aggrieved to “turn the other cheek,” Islam demands physical punishment in recompense for offense. While Christianity teaches that forgiveness and grace are beautiful virtues to be practiced liberally, Islam focuses its energy on physical manifestations of justice and retribution. While Christianity leaves justice, vengeance, judgment in the hands of the Almighty (and for a future date), Islam demands these things… NOW.

One of the Daily Wire’s arguments does strike me as compelling though – the one dealing with how we treat Israel. Israeli Jews are banned from entering 16 of the world’s Muslim nations; can you think of one “Christian” nation banning Jews? There is none.

Wake up, America. Christianity is the true “religion of peace,” and while it might be politically correct to equate the two great Universal world religions, any cursory examination proves this comparison to be ridiculous. There is no comparison, Islam is by far the more violent religion.

We have heard endless bloviation from media types who have spent their entire journalistic careers in open hostility to Christianity suddenly pontificating about how un-Christian it is to build walls and restrict immigration to the United States. Why, we’re told, that’s not something Jesus would do! He himself was a refugee! How can you call yourself a Christian and not believe in letting anybody and everybody in? That’s what Jesus would do!

Now we know that people who think and talk like this are wrong. When Jesus came to Earth, he did not come as a refugee. He came as the rightful king, intent on reclaiming what had been stolen from him by the Prince of Darkness. When his parents took him to Egypt as a child, they didn’t go as refugees but as exiles who returned to their homeland as soon as they could. When his parents took him to Bethlehem, they didn’t go as refugees, they went as hard-working taxpayers doing their civic duty.

Biblically we know that there is a legitimate place for walls, for physical barriers designed for protection. God sent Nehemiah to Jerusalem to build one around the city to keep the bad guys out. We know that immigration bans under the right circumstances are appropriate, for God permanently banned immigration from the neighboring nations of Ammon and Moab because of their historic and implacable hostility to Israel.

But we know that building walls and using immigration restrictions are legitimate policies because Jesus will use them in his own kingdom. (I am indebted to my good friend Jeff Reed for this idea, but don’t blame him for anything in what follows that you don’t like. That’s on me.)

The Scriptures tell us that the eternal city of his coming kingdom will be surrounded by “a great high wall with twelve gates” (Revelation 21:12), each guarded by an angel so undocumented intruders cannot enter. Identification papers will be scrutinized carefully before anyone is allowed to enter through one of the great big beautiful doors that are built in this wall that surrounds the city. In John’s vision, “books were opened,” and “if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life” he was not only not admitted but “thrown into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:12; 15). Talk about extreme vetting and deportation.

Only those who “wash their robes” in the shed blood of Christ will be allowed to “enter the city by its gates” (Revelation 22:14). Those who refuse to adopt the values of the eternal city will remain outside its walls. “Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood” (Revelation 22:15). In other words, cultural assimilation will not be optional for someone who desires a place in this coming kingdom.

Immigration controls will be stout, and deportation for those without proper documentation will be enforced. The king will apprehend those who try to sneak in and pass themselves off as citizens when they are not, and say to them, “Depart from me, you workers of lawlessness” (Matthew 7:23).

How do would-be immigrants get their names written in this register, this book of life, so that they will be admitted through the gates on that day? How do they get the visa, if you will, that entitles them to enter the kingdom of God?

“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household” (Acts 16:31). All prior allegiances must be renounced, and Jesus must be acknowledged as their new sovereign. They must accept him not just as Savior but as Lord. Once they do, their citizenship is granted, their passport is stamped, and they are welcomed to their new kingdom. This citizenship process is open to anyone in the world, anywhere, at any time.

We have my great-grandfather’s immigration documents hanging on the wall of our living room. In order for him to become a citizen of the United States, it was necessary for him to “renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to all and any foreign Prince, Potentate, State and Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to the Czar of Russia, of whom I was a subject.” Then he was required to declare his new allegiance to a new source of ultimate political authority, the Constitution of the United States.

The earthly process of becoming a citizen of the United States is a parable, a reflection, a shadow, of the process of becoming a citizen of the eternal kingdom. Perhaps God even intended it to be just that, and we cloud the picture when we make foolish changes to sound immigration policy. To be sure, it’s a shadow only, since the eternal kingdom is perfect and America is not.

In the kingdom of the age to come, documentation is required, a profession of allegiance is required, the borders are patrolled, and intruders are expelled. If that’s how Christ governs his heavenly kingdom, earthly kingdoms can be governed in the same way.

Does Christ believe in immigration control and border security? Of course. And if he does, it’s okay for the United States to believe in them too.

And the ultimate lesson for readers of this column is this: be sure you have your visa in hand because no one knows when the day of ultimate migration will come.

Pay is flowing so generously at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) that hundreds of bureaucrats there receive more than most members of Congress.

The Senate majority and minority leaders are paid $193,000 annually. Two hundred and one CFPB employees outdo Sens. Mitch McConnell and Charles Schumer in pay.
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan of Wisconsin receives $223,000 per year, but that’s less than what 54 CFPB employees are paid.
Another 170 CFPB employees earn more than the secretaries of defense and state, the attorney general and the director of national intelligence. All cabinet salaries are capped at $199,700, but not at the bureau. Thirty-nine CFPB employees earn more than the $230,000 paid to Vice President Mike Pence.
A total of 198 CFPB employees also earn more than their ultimate boss, Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellin, who is paid $201,700.
Overall, 449 CFPB employees get at least $100,000 per year and 228 CFPB are paid more than $200,000, according to publicly available 2016 data.

These findings are part of a Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group salary analysis for the consumer agency that was founded by Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and then-President Barack Obama in 2011. The agency was created under the Dodd-Frank Act to serve as a consumer agency protecting the poor against financial fraud.

Warren deliberately placed the agency inside the Federal Reserve Board. As a result, the salaries there do not have to conform to the pay scale set for federal workers at all other department and agencies.

CFPB spokesman Samuel Gilford justified the high salaries by citing Dodd-Frank’s section 1013, saying “compensation at the CFPB is set pursuant to the federal law that established the agency.”

“It’s ironic that the agency that is supposed to be looking out for the ‘little guy’ is actually padding the pockets of their own employees with exorbitant salaries,” David Williams, president of the Taxpayer Protection Alliance, told TheDCNF. The top salary at CFPB is reserved for Gail Hillebrand, the associate director for consumer education. She received $259,500 in 2016.

Not only do CFPB employees earn more than most of America’s top leaders, but 240 CFPB employees earn more than all 50 governors. The highest current salary for a sitting Democratic governor is Pennsylvania’s Tom Wolf, who is paid $187,818, according to Ballotpedia.

CFPB now is an embattled agency with congressional calls for its elimination. Others favor sharply reorganizing it and removing CFPB from the Federal Reserve Board so it can operate like a regular agency with congressional oversight. Unlike all other federal departments and agencies, Congress cannot set its budget or enact reforms at the agency due to the Dodd-Frank restrictions.

Rep. Sean Duffy of Wisconsin, chairman of the House Financial Services oversight and investigations subcommittee, told TheDCNF that it’s “outrageous” CFPB continues to “use taxpayer dollars to pay themselves lavishly. This is just another reminder that the CFPB must be reined in and held accountable to the American people. The CFPB is one of the most unaccountable agencies in the federal government.”

Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, called CFPB, “one more secret part of Dodd Frank, hidden away from the American people’s eyes.” Norquist said the Dodd-Frank Act is “Obamacare for the financial world. The fact that 170 earn more than sitting cabinet members and many more than the Vice President just shows how out of line the CFPB is.”

Paul H. Kupiec, resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, compared the salaries of federal employees at financial regulatory agencies and found that most federal bureaucrats earn more than those in the private banking sector.

Kupiec worked for a decade at the Federal Reserve, and later at FDIC, Freddie Mac and at the International Monetary Fund. He found in a 2014 study that federal workers “earned average total compensation that exceeded the average total employee compensation paid by 99.9 percent of all banks that filed regulatory reports in 2012.“As a group, those lucky enough to find employment at any of these bank regulatory agencies earned average total compensation that exceeded the average total employee compensation paid by 99.9 percent of all banks that filed regulatory reports in 2012,” he concluded.

“There’s kind of been a nuclear war in terms of salary and benefit between these agencies trying to one-up each other,” Kupiec told TheDCNF in an interview. “Nobody looks at it. And nobody stops them.”

High School Kids Will Be Lectured on Their ‘Inherent White Bias’. Chicago-area parents take issue with a radical, anti-family, anti-American program

New Trier High School is holding a mandatory All-School Seminar Day on Feb. 28, which is supposed to cover diversity topics. But the program — called “Understanding Today’s Struggle for Racial Civil Rights” — is incredibly flawed. It’s not in the least bit diverse. Instead, it seeks to educate white students about their “inherent bias” — and will feature radical speakers and workshop topics as part of the program.

The high school, in the suburbs north of Chicago on two separate campuses in Winnetka and Northfield, Illinois, has 4,000 students and an annual per-pupil expenditure of $25,000, according to Betsy Hart, a parent with two children in the high school. Hart and other parents have tried to talk to the administration about their concerns over the program, including the paid speakers at the event who have a radical agenda.

For example, Monica Trinidad, who is scheduled to teach a class called, “We Charge Genocide: An Emergence of a Continued Movement,” once posted to Twitter a picture of police on horseback with the caption, “Get them animals off those horses.” Her other divisive posts included a picture of her self-described “light reading” of a book entitled, “Conspiracy to Riot in Furtherance of Terrorism.”

Planned topics during Seminar Day for these high school students include: “Disney and Racial Stereotypes,” “Tracing Food Inequality: Food Deserts In Chicago,” and “Understanding Implicit Bias: Being Biased Doesn’t Make You a Bad Person.”

“A perusal of the list of workshops being offered makes it clear this will be more about white privilege and less about solutions,” said Hart, who notes that the student body of New Trier is about 80 percent white. “They [the administration] are not really interested in challenging the kids — we want them to think for themselves, and we want diverse discussions. Let’s also talk to some black ministers who are doing amazing work to reach kids before they join gangs. If we teach that all racial disparities are systemic racism — that means you can never talk about the things that would really help the black community. It’s a real lost opportunity.”

Chicago attorney Joseph Morris described the seminar to Illinoisfamily.org as “a rather bold and raw effort at hard-left propaganda with decidedly anti-American, anti-free-market, anti-family, anti-parent, and bigoted biases on display.”

Concerned parents have created the website Parentsofnewtrier.org. They’re suggesting qualified alternative speakers and explaining their issues with Seminar Day.

“Peer review studies (e.g., from the Harvard Business Review in 2016) increasingly show that diversity programs like this create more harm than they do good, because they reinforce racial stereotypes and resentments,” the website notes.

Parents have tried to get involved — only to be shut out by the school.

“I called the school and offered ideas — I said, ‘Great, if you’re going to do this, I have some people I think could speak to these issues that I didn’t see it last year,'” said Hart. (A very similar program was held on Martin Luther King Day last year, and many students stayed home.) “People who could cover entrepreneurship, choice in education, how we stem the tide of violence and gangs — a lot of what actually goes into the disparity between blacks and whites.”

Hart said she was told by a vice principal that the program for the day was “put together by faculty and students.”

“I asked, ‘What about parental input?’ And he said, ‘That’s just not how we do this.'”

LifeZette called the New Trier High School administration for comment, but did not hear back as of publication time.

Hart and other parents don’t want to do away with Seminar Day — they simply want more balance inserted into the program, or for the school to postpone it until that happens.

“Parents have to know the bias of [the program] — and the lack of really good information,” she said. “We have Chicago just a few miles away. These city kids are getting murdered, and 80 percent are African-Americans. It’s a horrible situation. An area that was once thriving with African-American businesses and culture is now devastated by violence, and we’re up here on the north shore diverting half a million dollars of resources to talk about white privilege?”

Hart identifies the obvious departure from the school’s communications model when it comes to Seminar Day.

“The school [usually] loves to alert parents — you have to sign off on their coursework for the year, and I just signed something last night that said I had seen grades, and there are permission slips all the time. But with Seminar Day, there was no mechanism through which the parent could be informed and involved in the panels the kids are choosing. No mechanism to know what my child has chosen, or to help direct their choosing. And if it’s happening at New Trier, it’s probably happening in similar ways all over the country,” said Hart.

Parents questioning the event also question a link to the radical progressive group S.E.E.D. The “Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity Project” is a national organization that trains educators and students on race from an “identity politics” viewpoint, including “oppression” and “white privilege.”

“One of the people coordinating the conference at New Trier is also on the staff at S.E.E.D.,” said Hart. “I’m sure she does a great job, but it’s concerning to us that she is connected to this messaging of white privilege and radical progressivism.”

Parents could excuse their kids for the day if they object to the proposed material, but “if [their kids] are like mine — very involved in theater and sports — if you excuse them for the day, they don’t get to participate in sports that night,” said Hart.

This agenda-laden, unbalanced, and ultimately unenlightening program is on the taxpayer dime, and has been in the works for months. “It’s costing half a million dollars, and it’s a huge drain of resources,” said Hart. “It’s not just the day. It’s the lead-up, the time that teachers and admin are putting into it — the extreme focus on this. When they say, ‘We want kids to be critical thinkers,’ well, no, they don’t — they are offering nothing but clichés and different iterations of the word ‘racist.’ It is said more than 75 times in the program,” Hart continued.

“We are excited about what could be done with this type of seminar day — but they’re calling the program ‘courageous,’ and as it stands now, it’s not.”

Trump administration giving final green light to Dakota Access pipeline

The Army Corps of Engineers will grant the final approval needed to complete the controversial Dakota Access oil pipeline as soon as Wednesday, it told lawmakers Tuesday. The news from the Army Corps, in letters to Congress and to a federal judge in Washington, D.C., came two weeks after President Trump issued a memo asking the agency to approve the pipeline as soon as possible.

The Army Corps also told the court that it will no longer complete an intensive environmental impact statement on the pipeline, an action the Obama administration decided to take in December that would have delayed the project for potentially a year or more.

The decision is a major victory for pipeline developer Energy Transfer Partners and the oil industry and a defeat for environmentalists and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Transfer told the federal judge Monday that that it could take as little as 60 days to finish the pipeline once it gets the Army Corps easement, Reuters reported.

The easement allows Energy Transfer to build the line under federally owned Lake Oahe in North Dakota. The pipeline, when complete, will run in North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and Illinois. Its construction is substantially complete, with the Lake Oahu portion behind the last major hurdle. The approval had been held up for months amid objections from the Standing Rock Sioux, whose reservation abuts the lake. The tribe said the pipeline threatens its water supply. The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe outlined its plans to fight against the pipeline in a statement on Tuesday, saying it would continue litigation against the project and urge policymakers in Washington oppose it.

“We are a sovereign nation and we will fight to protect our water and sacred places from the brazen private interests trying to push this pipeline through to benefit a few wealthy Americans with financial ties to the Trump administration,” tribal chairman David Archambault said in a statement.

Tribal lawyers have insisted Trump administration officials cannot overturn the December decision, and a lawyer for the tribe called such a decision “unlawful” during a Monday court hearing, according to Reuters. Standing Rock’s concerns blossomed into a months long protest with thousands of people from around the world at the construction site urging the federal government to cancel the project. It quickly became a flashpoint for environmentalists and indigenous-rights advocates, who accused the federal government of ignoring the Standing Rock Sioux’s objections.

But the oil industry and Republicans rallied behind Energy Transfer and said that former President Obama’s delays of the project threatened the rule of law.

Jan Hasselman, an attorney with Earthjustice who represents the Standing Rock tribe, said the Trump administration’s action is illegal and threatened court action over it.

“The Obama administration correctly found that the tribe’s treaty rights must be respected, and that the easement should not be granted without further review and consideration of alternative crossing locations. Trump’s reversal of that decision continues a historic pattern of broken promises to Indian tribes and a violation of treaty rights,” he said in a statement.

“Trump and his administration will be held accountable in court.”

A motion filed in federal court by the Justice Department on Friday suggests that newly-minted Attorney General Jeff Sessions is reassessing a vague Obama administration order allowing transgender students in America’s public schools to use the bathrooms and locker rooms of their choice.

“The concerns about assault are raised not primarily about transgender males, but rather about traditional males who would have a legal defense if found within a female restroom,” Banzhaf said.

Wall Street Journal editor in chief Gerard Baker told his reporters Monday the paper would not abandon objectivity in its coverage of President Donald Trump, and directed them to find work somewhere else if they want to adopt a more oppositional tone.

Reporters who don’t like that, he said, might want to find work somewhere else.

On the issue of health care for all, Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price said:

“I think it’s absolutely imperative that we have a system in place that has patients at the center and allows for every single American to have the opportunity to gain access to the kind of coverage they want.”

Price also recently vowed, “we will not abandon individuals with pre-existing illness or disease.”

Finally, even President Donald Trump said he wants to keep the Obamacare provision allowing people up to 26 years old to be covered by their parents’ insurance plans.

Supporters of illegal immigration are working overtime on social media trying to get information out there on how those caught up in raids should respond. This is absolutely ridiculous. Agents are doing their jobs and following the law!

If Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents show up at the door, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) advises not opening it unless the agents can show a warrant signed by a judge.

“Ask to see it (through a window or slipped under the door,” the graphic, available in multiple languages, says.

If there is no warrant, ask the agents to leave information outside.

If the agents force their way into the home, “don’t resist. Tell everyone in the residence to remain silent,” the ACLU says.

If you are arrested “remain silent and do not sign anything until you speak to a lawyer,” the graphic said.

The disgraced congresswoman must defend against charges that she funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars from a non-profit charity, One Door for Education, into her own pocket. If convicted on all 24 counts, she faces 357 years in prison and $4.8 million in fines.

With her former chief of staff expected to testify against her, the question’s no longer whether or not she’s guilty. It’s why Democrat brass would continually cozy up to a congresswoman who was so clearly corrupt?

Surprise, surprise, surprise. Apparently, when you look into the data, examine the facts, and move past the emotional (and irrational) arguments of the left, we find that President Trump’s Executive Order on Immigration is better grounded in reality than our media lets on.

That means that 68 of the 72 terrorists from these seven countries (since 9/11) entered legally, were fully vetted and cleared to come to the United States. Does that give you cause for concern? Does that number imply a greater problem with our vetting system?

Don’t let the Democrats and the media fool you, folks. In this debate, President Trump is the only one making any sense.
