Biden Impeachment Inquiry

The corporate news media all but refused to cover the opening hearing of the House impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden on Thursday, and to the extent they did, it was only to repeat, at the behest of the White House, the exhausted mantra that thereโ€™s โ€œno evidenceโ€ connecting Biden to his son Hunterโ€™s international bribery scheme.

(The New York Times ran with a cursory and misleadingly headlined article, โ€œFirst Impeachment Hearing Yields No New Information on Biden,โ€ that boasted โ€œeven their [Republicansโ€™] witnesses said the case for impeachment hadnโ€™t been made.โ€ Which, of course the case hasnโ€™t been made yet. Thatโ€™s why you launch an inquiry, of which Thursday was day one.)

But if the media had actually covered it, the American public might have heard more about the mounds of damning evidence now piling up by the day, including the release on Wednesday by the House Ways and Means Committee of reams of text messages and emails between Hunter Biden, his uncle James Biden, and a colorful array of foreign oligarchs, business associates, and bagmen. All told, House Republicans presented more than two dozen pieces of evidence on Thursday linking Joe Biden to his sonโ€™s overseas business dealings.

This evidence was the centerpiece of the hearing Thursday, which served to lay the groundwork for the impeachment inquiry. So far, the evidence suggests the Biden family โ€œbusinessโ€ is exactly what it appears to be: an influence-peddling scheme on a scale never before seen in American history. George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley, who testified at the hearing, said that even though Washington, D.C., is โ€œawashโ€ in influence-peddling, heโ€™s never seen โ€œanything of this size and complexity,โ€ and that Congress has a โ€œduty to determine if the president is involved in what is a known form of corruption.โ€

Based on what we already know, itโ€™s hard to see how Joe Biden couldnโ€™t have been involved or couldnโ€™t have benefited from his sonโ€™s corrupt dealings. Consider just a few items of evidence mentioned during Thursdayโ€™s hearing. In one text exchange with his uncle in June 2017, Hunter refers to his father as his โ€œfamilyโ€™s brandโ€ and โ€œonly asset.โ€ That echoes something Devon Archer, Hunterโ€™s former business partner, said in his July testimony to the House Oversight Committee, that the value of adding Hunter to the board of the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma was โ€œthe brandโ€ โ€” clearly a reference to then-Vice President Joe Biden. (Hunter had no experience in the energy sector and brought no value to the company other than access to his father.)

Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina brought up an FBI memo released Wednesday by the House Ways and Means Committee about another former business partner of Hunterโ€™s, Tony Bobulinksi. In an FBI interview, Bobulinksi said that in 2015-16 Hunter and Hunterโ€™s uncle James did business with CEFC, a Chinese company with close ties to the Chinese government. But because Biden was still vice president, Hunter and James werenโ€™t paid right away. โ€œThere was a concern it would be improper,โ€ Bobulinksi said, because of the companyโ€™s affiliation with the Chinese Communist Party.

But Hunter and James wanted to get paid. According to Bobulinksi, โ€œthey believed CEFC owed them money for the benefits that accrued to CEFC through its use of the Biden family name to advance their business dealings.โ€ Once Biden left office, Hunter and James were paid more than a million dollars by CEFC. โ€œNow we know why,โ€ said Mace. โ€œBecause it was back-pay.โ€

Later in the hearing, Rep. Byron Donalds of Florida showed organizational charts of Hunter Bidenโ€™s businesses created by the IRS team investigating the presidentโ€™s son, including from 2014, when Joe Biden was vice president, and 2018, when he was a private citizen. The charts show a dizzying array of interrelated companies โ€” none of which involved real estate or any other industry where you would typically see this kind of complex matrix of different business entities and shell companies. Donalds then shared a text message between Hunter and James Biden in which Hunter, discussing a business deal, tells his uncle, โ€œYouโ€™ve been drawn into something purely for the purpose of protecting Dad.โ€

This is just a sample, but you get the idea. Hunter was engaged in a patently corrupt scheme that involved selling access to his father, one of the most powerful politicians on the planet. The question the impeachment inquiry has to answer is whether Joe Biden knew about the scheme, whether he profited from it, whether he intentionally helped Hunter, and whether he changed U.S. policy as part of rendering that help. On every count, there is mounting evidence that the answer is โ€œyes.โ€

But donโ€™t expect Democrats to take any of this more seriously than the corporate media are. Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, never one to miss an opportunity for self-parody, gravely asked all three Republican witnesses whether they were โ€œpresenting any firsthand witness account of crimes committed by the president of the United States,โ€ as if the only evidence that counts is video footage of Joe Biden stuffing cash into a duffel bag marked โ€œ$$$ from China.โ€

Not to be outdone in performative stupidity, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a Democrat from Texas, went on a bizarre, emotional rant claiming President Biden is only โ€œguilty of loving his child unconditionally,โ€ which is the only evidence Republicans have brought forward. She added, โ€œAnd honestly, I hope and pray that my parents love me half as much as he loves his child.โ€ Ah yes, Joe Biden loved his son so much that he made him the frontman of an international bribery scheme and money-laundering operation.

So much for the opposition (including the corporate press). They arenโ€™t going to take this seriously, even if the impeachment inquiry turns up audio recordings of Joe Biden saying, โ€œWhy yes, I did fire that Ukrainian prosecutor for $5 million from Burisma.โ€ Democrats and the media donโ€™t care about Bidenโ€™s corruption and wonโ€™t tell the truth about it, no matter what evidence comes to light. After Thursdayโ€™s hearing, at least that much is clear.

GOP rebels, Dems sink House stopgap funding bill less than 48 hours before likely government shutdown

A group of GOP hardliners joined Democrats in sinking House Republicans’ stopgap funding bill on Friday, significantly raising the chances of a government shutdown happening over the weekend. A procedural vote to advance the bill passed earlier in the day, but final passage failed on an 198 to 232 vote. Twenty-one Republicans voted against it, including Reps. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla.; Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga.; and Nancy Mace, R-S.C., among others.

It’s a heavy blow to Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., whose leadership has faced public threats throughout the spending battle so far from some in the right flank of his conference.

Federal government funding expires at the end of the day on Sept. 30. If the House and Senate can’t strike a deal by then, a partial shutdown threatens to force all federal functions deemed “nonessential” to grind to a halt.

HOUSE LAWMAKERS MOVE TO PROTECT MILITARY PAY FROM LOOMING GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN

Kevin McCarthy

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has been dealing with an unruly GOP conference for much of his leadership so far.

A short-term funding extension, known as a continuing resolution (CR), is almost certainly needed to give lawmakers more time to cobble together 12 individual spending bills for fiscal year 2024.

But Republican leaders have had a hard time so far corralling their conference into some kind of agreement. A faction of conservatives have for weeks said they are opposed to any CR, arguing it would be an extension of the previous Democratically controlled Congress.

GOP NEGOTIATORS HIT BACK AT REPUBLICAN REBELS AS SHUTDOWN THREAT LOOMS: ‘EMPOWERING SCHUMER’

The House GOP’s CR proposal included an amendment to slash spending for its monthlong duration to fiscal 2022 levels, about $130 billion less than the current year’s. It also featured elements from House Republicans’ border security bill, and McCarthy said a new provision would mandate the creation of a bipartisan committee to study the federal debt.

McCarthy and his allies have tried to pressure the holdouts by accusing them of siding with Democrats and giving Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., as well as the White House more leverage to pass government funding without conservative policy riders.

The speaker said before the vote on Friday morning, “Every member will have to go on recordโ€ฆ Are they willing to secure the border or do they side with President Biden on an open border and vote against a measure to keep government open?”

House GOP lawmakers are huddling behind closed doors at 4 p.m. on Friday to discuss a path forward. McCarthy was asked after exiting the House floor if he has any plan in his back pocket after the CR failed. “Nothing right now,” he replied.

REBEL UPRISING THREATENS TO DERAIL HOUSE GOP DEAL TO AVOID SHUTDOWN

Aย government shutdownย is all but assured now with no agreement on a short-term spending patch.ย The Senate is working on its own CR which would extend current funding levels for 45 days and include additional funding for Ukraine aid and U.S. disaster relief.ย

But a straightforward extension of the previous Congress’ spending priorities is a nonstarter for a significant chunk of House Republicans. McCarthy has also pledged not to bring a short-term spending bill that includes Ukraine funding to the floor.

McCarthy did say he was open to working with Schumer on a CR provided it includes border security measures.

Itโ€™s Looking Ever More Likely That Jan. 6 Was A Fedsurrection

Few incidents in recent history are as poorly understood as the riot on Jan. 6, 2021. Ever since it happened, the Biden administration and the corporate media have pushed the narrative that this was an insurrection by Donald Trump and his allies to overturn the 2020 election and destroy American democracy. They have compared this event to 9/11, Pearl Harbor, and even the Civil War. Accordingly, the Department of Justice has spared no expense to bring in each and every offender (there are now more than a thousand of them awaiting trial) and indict and convict their ringleader Trump.

However, several cracks in this story have started to appear. In last weekโ€™s hearing with the House Judiciary Committee, Attorney General Merrick Garland admitted his ignorance on whether there were federal agents in the crowds on Jan. 6. In a closed-door session with the same committee, Steven Dโ€™Antuono, former assistant director-in-charge of the FBIโ€™s Washington field office, allegedly conceded that he lost count of the number of confidential human sources who joined the protest.

One of those informants was almost certainly Ray Epps, a man who was caught on camera urging other protesters to storm the Capitol. While Garland and Dโ€™Antuono played dumb in their testimony, Epps was finally charged with a mere misdemeanor despite his prominent role in provoking the riot. This stood in stark contrast to Enrique Torrio, someone who wasnโ€™t even in Washington, D.C., that day who was sentenced to 22 years in prison just a few weeks earlier, or the hundreds of other protesters with similar sentences.

Added to this is the incoherent response of the Capitol Police. On one hand, they were happily ushering certain protesters into the building, even giving some of them a tour, including โ€œQAnon Shamanโ€ Jacob Chansley. On the other hand, they used excessive force against other protesters, hitting them with rubber bullets and tear gas and beating them down with riot sticksโ€” and in the case of Ashli Babbit, shooting them dead at point-blank range.

The implications of these reports are massive. Altogether, they strongly suggest that the federal government deliberately egged on a riot to silence any discussions about the 2020 election, crush Trumpโ€™s populist movement, and cast Trump as a dangerous tyrant. Along with the police, at least โ€œa handful,โ€ but probably more like dozens of (or possibly many more) informants and undercover agents from various government agencies were in the crowd goading otherwise innocent Americans to become violent and breach the Capitol. And now, these protesters are being denied due process rights and sentenced by psychopath judges to ridiculously long prison sentences in kangaroo courts.

[READ: J6 Prosecutor Charged In Road Rage Stabbing Incident]

In other words, much like the plan to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has been labeled a โ€œFednapping plotโ€ since the whole scheme was directed by FBI agents entrapping unsuspecting civilians, the Jan. 6 Capitol attack can fairly be considered a โ€œFedsurrectionโ€ for the same reason. How would events have unfolded if government agencies had not inserted themselves in the protest? Or if certain high-level politicians like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi actually allowed extra security instead of denying it multiple times?

Itโ€™s not hard to see why journalists and writers avoid entertaining this possibility. Beyond exposing the unfathomable depths of government corruption, the story itself is so vast and hopelessly complicated that no one can find an end to it. Julie Kelly, the premier expert of the Jan. 6 riot, has devoted a whole book and hundreds of articles (and now a Substack) to the event and is still going strong detailing the innumerable injustices being inflicted on the protesters. Although a few other journalists have joined in the effort to investigate Jan. 6, almost everyone else has understandably distanced themselves from the story โ€” itโ€™s just too much.

Added to this is the preference of many Americans, both on the left and right, to believe a narrative that reinforces a certain classist prejudice. Somehow, it makes perfect sense to them that a raucous crowd of uneducated rednecks would storm the Capitol in the hopes of making their cult-leader Donald Trump a supreme dictator of the country. Sure, these same people were unarmed and the great majority of them had no criminal record. And true, itโ€™s unclear how walking around a building and waving flags would overturn the election, let alone impose an antidemocratic Trumpocracy. One might even say this story makes about as much sense as Trump being a Russian agent who stole the election with some Facebook ads. Then again, many people continue to believe this hoax despite all evidence to the contrary.

However one feels about it, the Jan. 6 riot happened and the prosecutions continue to happen. For any American who still believes in the system it is well past time to come to terms with this reality for a few reasons. First, there are hundreds of innocent Americans wasting away in prison (also known as the โ€œDC Gulagโ€) who are subjected to terrible living conditions, all because they dared to speak against the regime.

Second, the federal agencies and departments responsible for putting those people there have faced no scrutiny or any check on their power โ€” on the contrary, most politicians seem happy giving them more money.

Third, the Biden administration is still using the narrative of Jan. 6 to shut down his political opponents. Fourth, because most news media and Big Tech platforms are allowed to gaslight people on this issue, there is nothing to stop them from doing the same for every other matter.

Beyond this, all Americans should worry about the tyranny at work and what this means for the country. If the government can stoke a riot to target dissidents and fabricate a bogeyman (e.g., MAGA Republicans, white supremacists, Christian nationalists, etc.) to distract the population, then no American citizen is truly free. They have no choice except to parrot the party line, submit to an oppressive government, and desperately hope that the leviathan takes care of them.

In some ways, this outcome has already materialized, putting the country in a precarious position. It will only become worse until Americans of all political stripes (not just conservatives) speak up for the Jan. 6 protesters. Whatโ€™s happening to them is not just wrong, but egregious. Whatever one thinks about what they were protesting, it cannot be denied that they have given up everything for their cause. The least we can do is give them our sympathy and uncover the truth about what happened.

Hunter Biden Email Discussing $5 Million Payment From Burisma Corroborates FD-1023

An email apparently sent by Hunter Biden to longtime business associate Devon Archer discusses a $5 million payment from Ukrainian energy company Burisma โ€” appearing to corroborate the FBI FD-1023 form in which a confidential human source recorded testimony from Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky that โ€œIt costs 5 (million) to pay one Biden, and 5 (million) to another Biden.โ€

โ€œNeed to determine what we consider expenses to be deducted from potential Burisma โ€˜payโ€™ before we determine true split # with Alex. (i.e. 5-.75/3= 1.42M apiece),โ€ย readย an email that IRS investigators believed to be from the younger Biden, which was part of a batch of records released Wednesday by the House Ways and Means Committee. According to a slide that investigators presented to Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, the โ€œ5โ€ is a reference to $5 million that would be paid out by Burisma. Of that money, $750,000 would be subtracted โ€” the email asked if Archer thought โ€œ750K [was] a reasonable expense # btw Wash and DC offices?โ€

Of the remaining $4.25 million, splitting the money between Hunter, Archer, and โ€œAlexโ€ (whose last name is redacted) would leave each man with $1.42 million.

According to an affidavit from IRS whistleblower Joseph Ziegler, who worked the Hunter Biden tax case, the discussion โ€œwas believed to be [Hunter Bidenโ€™s] laying out of the plan related to the Burisma board income he and Archer were about to receive.โ€

The emails were obtained โ€œby the investigative team via an Electronic Search Warrant served on Google related to RHBโ€™s [Hunter Bidenโ€™s] Apple email account,โ€ Ziegler noted.

โ€œRHB references $5 million in total from Burisma (which was referenced in the beginning of the board agreement), which I believe coincides with information on the FBI Form FD1023,โ€ he added.

Theย FD-1023ย was an FBI form completed in June 2020, in which a highly credible confidential human source (CHS) reported having a conversation with Mykola Zlochevsky in which the Burisma founder complained about having to pay $5 million to both Hunter and Joe Biden. Zlochevsky claimed โ€œhe didnโ€™t want to pay the Bidens, and he was โ€˜pushed to payโ€™ themโ€ and told the CHS he had โ€œrecordingsโ€ of Hunter and Joe to prove it.

โ€œZlochevsky [said] he did not send any funds directly to the โ€˜Big Guyโ€™ (which CHS understood was a reference to Joe Biden),โ€ the FD-1023 notes. When the CHS asked about Zlochevskyโ€™s bank accounts, โ€œZlochevsky responded it would take them (Investigators) 10 years to find the records (i.e., illicit payments to Joe Biden).โ€

The CHS also reported on the FD-1023 that another Burisma executive told him Hunter Biden was hired to โ€œprotect us, through his dad, from all kinds of problems.โ€

[READ NEXT: Hereโ€™s Everything In The Damning FD-1023 Document That Implicates Biden In An International Bribery Scheme]

Despite the explosive allegations contained in the form, Weissโ€™s team withheld the FD-1023 from IRS investigators, according to Ziegler. Weiss has since been appointed special counsel by Joe Bidenโ€™s attorney general.

Leaked Messages From UAW Official Reveal a Big Cause of Unionsโ€™ Decline

By: Rachel Greszlerย /ย September 28, 2023

Read more at https://www.dailysignal.com/2023/09/28/leaked-messages-uaw-official-reveal-big-cause-unions-decline/

A local UAW president speaks on a picket line

A leaked UAW officialโ€™s message reveals the unionโ€™s strategy for wounding and weakening U.S. companiesโ€”the very companies its members rely on for their paychecks. Pictured: Jesse Ramirez, president of the United Auto Workers Local 230, speaks on a picket line during a strike outside a Stellantis distribution center in Ontario, California, on Sept. 26, 2023. (Photo: Patrick T. Fallon, AFP/Getty Images)

โ€œIf we can keep them wounded for months, they donโ€™t know what to do โ€ฆ this is recurring reputations damage andย operation chaos.โ€

That leaked statement, first reported byย The Detroit News, is not a military tactic nor a hostile takeover plan. Rather, itโ€™s a strategy for wounding and weakening American companies, with collateral damage that includes theย American economy. And itโ€™s the strategyโ€”expressed in a private group chat on X (formerly Twitter) by United Auto Workers communications director Jonah Furmanโ€”of an organization whose foremost mission statement is toย โ€œimprove and protectโ€ย the compensation and work environment of UAW members.

The utter disconnect between the UAWโ€™s strategy of wounding, damaging, and inflicting chaos on the companies upon which its membersโ€™ jobs and compensation prospects depend is astounding. Big Laborโ€™s increasingly distorted understanding of unionsโ€™ role in Americaโ€”and of free enterprise and democracyโ€”are a cause of their decline. At their heyday, unions represented about 35% of workers in the U.S. Today, they represent 10% of workers, andย only 6%ย of private sector workers.

Workers realize that the viability of their jobs and the compensation they receive are interwoven with the success of their employers. In science, this is referred to as a symbiotic relationship: two groups working together toward a common goal.

(There will, of course, always be some bad employers who take advantage of workers or deny them a voice in the workplace. And when that happens, the best remedies are for workers to either seek better job opportunities or for those who want to band together collectively to do so.)

But despite surveys that show that teamwork and good relationships with managers are primary components of employeesโ€™ engagement and satisfaction, Big Labor seems intent on convincing workers that they must be at war with their employers.

When critiquingย the suggestion thatย unions would do better to abandon their focus on politics and adversarial tactics, two Teamsters union attorneys essentially admitted that creating conflict is how they survive, saying, โ€œIt is no secret that such a โ€˜non-adversarialโ€™ approach would gravely weaken organized labor.โ€ Thatโ€™s where unions have gone astray, thinking that โ€œitโ€™s us or them.โ€

Even in 1950, when the only cars Americans could buy were those made by the Big Three automakers, that flawed interpretation of labor unionsโ€™ roles was short-sighted. Yes, the UAW was able to drive up compensation above market wages to the benefit of its members, but the result of higher car prices meant fewer families could afford cars and, thus, fewer cars were produced and fewer workers were needed to produce them.

Now, in theย globally competitiveย 21st century, unions inflicting damage and chaos are at odds with unionsโ€™ short- and long-term goals. How can companies whose reputations have been crippled and whoโ€™ve suffered financial losses somehowย pay workers 40% moreย for 20% less work? Thatโ€™s like eliminating 11 players from the Arizona Cardinals roster, not allowing players to access to their practice stadium, and expecting them to win the Super Bowl.

Understandably, the Big Three automakers are frustrated.

A Stellantis spokesperson said that the reported comments โ€œare incredibly disturbing and strongly indicate that the UAWโ€™s approach to these talks is not in the best interest of the workforce. We are disappointed that it appears our employees are being used as pawns in an agenda that is not intended to meet their needs.โ€

GM said that itโ€™s โ€œnow clear that the UAW leadership has always intended to cause months-long disruption, regardless of the harm it causes to its members and their communities.โ€ GM also said this โ€œcalls into question who is actually in charge of UAW strategy and shows a callous disregard for the seriousness of what is at stake. UAW leadership needs to put the interests of its members and the country over their own ideological and personal agendas.โ€

And a Ford spokesperson said, โ€œItโ€™s disappointing, to say the least, given what is at stake for our employees, the companies, and this region,โ€ and noted, โ€œFor our part, we will continue to work day and night, bargaining in good faith, to reach an agreement that rewards our workforce and allows Ford to invest in a vibrant and growing future.โ€

If union officials actually want to protect UAW jobs and improve workersโ€™ compensation, then they have to want the Big Three American automakers to succeed and to grow. Considering that U.S. auto production is less than half of what it was two decades ago, success is likely going to require that the UAW work alongsideโ€”rather than againstโ€”U.S. automakers to help them become more competitive.

To the extent that involves lobbying policymakers, the focus should be on getting the government out of the business of picking winners and losers by its subsidizing of more expensive electric vehicles that require 40% less labor while also seeking to ban gas-powered vehicles that Americans still overwhelmingly desire.

And if unions across America want toย increase their membership, they should appeal directly to workers by offering things they value instead of using their dues to get politicians to go against their interests by doing things like attackingย secret ballot union elections, restricting employersโ€™ ability to share importantย information with workersย before union elections, and establishing aย pathway to force an employerย to bargain with a union even if workers donโ€™t want to be represented by it.

Jason Whitlock Op-ed: Colin Kaepernick and Philly looters share the same foolish, bigoted motivation

Thereโ€™s little difference between Dayjia โ€œMeatballโ€ Blackwell and Colin Kaepernick. Both are internet trolls, substanceless social media influencers adept at promoting chaos and outrage.

On Tuesday night, Meatball encouraged her Philly followers to meet her downtown. The group eventually looted a Lululemon, an Apple store, a Foot Locker, and a liquor store. Meatball livestreamed much of the action before getting arrested.

Kaepernick, of course, is the former NFL quarterback who elevated his brand seven years ago by kneeling during the national anthem. In the process, Kaepernick became the most polarizing athlete in America. He torched his football career while simultaneously becoming a cult figure to left-wing activists and Nike. On Tuesday, Kaepernick had his rap music buddy J. Cole release a letter Kaepernick wrote to the New York Jets asking for a roster spot on their practice squad.

โ€œI would be honored and extremely grateful for the opportunity to come in and lead the practice squad,โ€ Kaepernick wrote. โ€œI would do this with the sole mission of getting your defense ready each week. If I were able to fill this role, I believe this allows for multiple things.’

โ€œWorst case scenario, you see what I have to offer and youโ€™re not that impressed. Best case scenario, you realize you have a real weapon at your disposal in the event you ever need to use it. In either of these scenarios, I would be committed to getting your defense ready week in and week out, all season long, and I would wear that responsibility like a badge of honor.โ€

Meatball and Kaepernick are victims of a culture that rewards, promotes, enables, excuses, and justifies self-destructive behavior from black people. Theyโ€™re collateral damage from the circus โ€œclown showโ€ that Iโ€™ve been railing against all week. The social media matrix baits celebrities, journalists, athletes, broadcasters, and influencers into creating content that outrages what used to be the establishment. For black influencers, the establishment is white evangelical conservatives. Black influencers have been convinced that anything that aggravates, annoys, or frustrates white conservatives is a net positive for black people. Itโ€™s a ridiculous standard.

But itโ€™s what compelled Kaepernick to foolishly kneel during the national anthem. His protest and support of Black Lives Matter did not save one black life. It accomplished the opposite. It demonized the profession of policing, sparked defund-the-police policies and sentiment, and subsequently made black neighborhoods more violent and crime-ridden. It also wrecked Kaepernickโ€™s football career. It should be obvious to everyone that Kaepernick regrets sabotaging his playing career. How else do you explain someone who hasnโ€™t played football in seven years begging the Jets to sign him to the practice squad? Kaepernick is 35. Two years ago, he released a documentary-style movie about his life and analogized the NFL to a slave plantation. Three years ago, he backed out of an organized workout in Atlanta and donned aย Kunta Kinte T-shirt.

Kunta Kaepernick now wants a job back on Massa Goodellโ€™s plantation? Make it make sense. It only makes sense if you recognize and acknowledge that Kaepernickโ€™s original protest was devoid of substance and was driven by the social media stimulus that grants clout and relevance to black people who troll white evangelical conservatives.

This same stimulus motivates young people such as Dayjia Blackwell to loot and produce immoral content.

Leftists have defined Christianity as the โ€œwhite manโ€™s religion.โ€ Theyโ€™ve demonized whiteness, which, in their minds, justifies the tearing down of Christianity. Itโ€™s all a lie. The first Christians were ethnically Semitic and had light to dark brown skin. All humans, regardless of color, are made in the image of God.

Let me get back to Meatball and the looting last night in Philadelphia. Blackwell streamed much of the activity. She screamed into the camera: โ€œEverybodyโ€™s gotta eat!โ€

You donโ€™t rob Lululemon because youโ€™re hungry. The looting we see nationwide has nothing to do with hunger pangs. Itโ€™s a reflection of peopleโ€™s animus toward a country theyโ€™ve been convinced must be torn down and remade. It is a form of protest.

Theyโ€™re just protesting the wrong thing. The establishment that is truly in control is quite comfortable with black people and others protesting the wrong thing. Theyโ€™re fine with protesting white evangelicals and Christianity. What the ruling establishment wonโ€™t tolerate is American citizens protesting the ruling establishment.

The ruling establishment controls Congress, the Capitol, and the White House. Americans are strictly forbidden to protest there. The ruling establishment constantly points black people to direct their frustration at โ€œwhitenessโ€ and away from the wickedness of a secular society.

Joe Biden routinely tells the public that โ€œwhite supremacyโ€ is the greatest threat to America. Heโ€™s providing cover for Satan, who is colorless. Satan is a set of values and beliefs that destroy the soul and the mind. Biden and the left are intentionally inspiring black people to destroy America and themselves.

Colin Kaepernick and Dayjia Blackwell are useful idiots following instructions.

Now That Hoodies Are The Senate Uniform, Republicans Should Show Up Sporting These Slogans

Now that Chuck Schumer has dumbed down the Senate dress code to accommodate the slovenly habits of the privileged Pennsylvania senator who cosplays as a representative of the working class, hoodies like Sen. John Fettermanโ€™s signature Carhartt are welcome on the Senate floor.

Itโ€™s an ugly visual of the decay of an American institution. But you know what, fine โ€” if thatโ€™s the way itโ€™s going to be, Republicans might as well play along. If they want something comfier but just as effective as Susan Collinsโ€™s suggested ensemble, they should show up wearing hoodies emblazoned with one (or several!) of these reminders.

1. โ€˜Impeach Bidenโ€™

As my colleague David Harsanyi has pointed out, there exists โ€œmore than enough evidenceโ€ of Biden corruption for an impeachment probe.

Joe Biden has publicly bragged about bullying Ukraine into firing a prosecutor who was investigating Burisma, an energy firm that paid his son Hunter Biden millions to sit on its board and reportedly hired him to access the protection his fatherโ€™s political power could provide. We also know that Joe Biden spoke with Hunterโ€™s associates dozens, if not hundreds, of times and that the Bidens received millions from foreign oligarchs.

2. โ€˜Boys and Girls Are Differentโ€™

Itโ€™s an indisputable fact that there are two sexes and we are not the same but stating that obvious truth often causes the brains of Democrats who push transgender mania to combust.

3. โ€˜Democrats Support Abortion Up to Birthโ€™

They donโ€™t like to admit it, but Democrats in Congress overwhelmingly voted for a bill that would ensure abortions throughout all nine months of a womanโ€™s pregnancy as long as she could find a provider to say it was important for her emotional health. Democrat-led states like Colorado have explicitly enacted laws permitting abortion up to birth, and Democrats in Washington have opposed protections for babies born alive in botched abortions.

4. โ€˜Hunter Biden Takes Bribesโ€™

Itโ€™s no secret that Hunter Biden peddled access to his powerful father among his well-heeled foreign clients. In return, Hunter was rewarded with everything from shrouded bank transfers to a car with a six-figure price tag to a three-carat diamond.

Sen. Bob Menendez, who was recently indicted by Hunterโ€™s dadโ€™s DOJ for his own shady dealings, might consider a riff on this slogan, such as โ€œHunter Bidenโ€™s Bribery Scandal Is Worse Than Mine!โ€

5. โ€˜Biden Jails His Political Opponentsโ€™

Bidenโ€™s Department of Justice is prosecuting his 2020 presidential rival and likely 2024 opponent in multiple jurisdictions, threatening him with years of jail time. Not only has the DOJ gone after Trump, itโ€™s targeted peaceful pro-lifers and parents at school board meetings, while throwing the book at Trump supporters like a nonviolent grandma with cancer for being at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

6. โ€˜Trump Wonโ€™

Yes, weโ€™re aware that Biden won the 2020 election in a very literal sense, had more votes recorded for him, and was inaugurated as our 46th president. On the other hand, it clearly wasnโ€™t our โ€œmost secure election everโ€ โ€” it was rigged, or โ€œfortified,โ€ in numerous ways that were damaging to the integrity of our elections.

But you donโ€™t have to get into the nuances of that to exercise your First Amendment rights by wearing a hoodie and enjoy the reactions it inspires.

7. โ€˜Defund The FBIโ€™

Until the FBI stops interfering in our elections โ€” as they did by falsely labeling the bombshell Biden corruption story sourced from Hunter Bidenโ€™s laptop as โ€œdisinformationโ€ in 2020 and by furthering the Trump-Russia collusion hoax in 2016 โ€” congressional Republicans should refuse to keep paying its bills.

8. โ€˜Unborn Lives Matterโ€™

This shouldnโ€™t be controversial, right?

9. โ€˜Keep Porn Out of Schoolsโ€™

This one shouldnโ€™t be controversial either. But left-leaning school boards are working hard to fill school libraries with pornographic books promoting their LGBT agenda. They want you to think this is an issue of backwater Republicans โ€œbanningโ€ harmless books like To Kill A Mockingbird, but when parents try to read the contents of the books in question at public meetings, itโ€™s deemed too explicit for the ears of the adults in the room.

10. โ€˜Who Killed JFK?โ€™

Why are parts of more than 15,000 records relating to the Kennedy assassination still being kept from the public after Biden delayed their release? What convinced Kennedyโ€™s nephew that the CIA was involved in what he calls a โ€œ60-year coverupโ€?

11. โ€˜Save Girlsโ€™ Sportsโ€™

Allowing boys and men with gender dysphoria to enter girlsโ€™ locker rooms, bathrooms, and sports teams is neither safe nor fair to women, but Democrats want to do it anyway.

12. Trumpโ€™s Mugshot

OK, itโ€™s not a slogan, but weโ€™d still love to see Senate Republicans show up wearing this.

Perhaps you saw the news last week that two women in their 70s, Jean Marshall and Joan Bell, are each facing up to 11 years in federal prison for blocking the entrance to an abortion clinic in 2020. Federal prosecutors charged the pair for violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, which Bidenโ€™s Justice Department has been aggressively enforcing against pro-life activists, convicting 26 people last year alone.

You might have also seen, a few weeks earlier, that a 42-year-old North Dakota man who ran over and killed an 18-year-old kid for being a Republican was sentenced to just five years in prison on a manslaughter charge, and with credit for time already served on house arrest, will spend only about four years behind bars.

Seeing these two things, maybe you wondered how it could be that two grandmothers might well spend twice as many years in prison for the nonviolent offence of sitting in front of an abortion clinic as a man who intentionally killed another man for his political beliefs. Maybe you thought, as @politicalmath put it on X (formerly Twitter), that the left needs โ€œto start looking at this situation and admitting that this is not justice. They need to shake themselves awake and realize that their team is utilizing the justice system for political punishment and that this is destabilizing our entire culture.โ€

You might have thought the same thing recently about the Trump indictments. The hypocrisy is after all outrageous. Questioning an election is okay if Hillary Clinton and Democrats do it (as they did in 2016, 2004, and 2000) but itโ€™s a โ€œcriminal conspiracyโ€ if Trump and Republicans do it.

Or consider the draconian prison sentences for Jan. 6 rioters (22 years in one case) compared to the leniency shown to Black Lives Matter and Antifa rioters, one of whom was sentenced to just 10 years despite setting a deadly fire in a Minneapolis pawn shop during the 2020 George Floyd riots โ€” and this only after federal prosecutors invoked Martin Luther King Jr. and asked the judge to show leniency.

Or again consider the role of Bidenโ€™s Justice Department and FBI in protecting Hunter Biden and the president from congressional investigations that are, as of this writing, still uncovering damning evidence of corruption connected to Hunterโ€™s overseas business schemes. Just this week we learned that two payments totaling more than a quarter-million dollars were wired to Hunter Biden from China, and the beneficiary address listed on the wires was Joe Bidenโ€™s home address in Delaware. (At the time the wires were sent, Hunter was living in California.)

Surely, you might be thinking, not even the most rabid partisans on the left can think that this is justice, or that this will end well for the country. Surely they see the danger of supporting a politicized federal law enforcement bureaucracy that criminalizes the opposition and uses the justice system as a weapon. Even if they donโ€™t denounce it publicly, certainly theyโ€™re talking amongst themselves about how terrible this is and how to stop it. Right?

Wrong. To think this way is to misunderstand Democrats and the left completely. No, theyโ€™re not worried about any of this. No, they donโ€™t want it to stop, they want it to continue and intensify. They donโ€™t want justice, they want power.

You donโ€™t have to take my word for it. Increasingly, Democrats will readily admit as much. For example, nearly half of them donโ€™t believe in freedom of speech. A recent RealClear Opinion Research poll found that while solid majorities of Republicans (74 percent) and Independents (61 percent) believe speech should be legal โ€œunder any circumstances,โ€ only 55 percent of Democrats agreed.

The same survey found that a third of Democrats think Americans โ€œhave too much freedom,โ€ and a majority of them โ€œapprove of the government censoring social media content under the rubric of protecting national security.โ€ Worse, about three-quarters of surveyed Democrats think the government has a responsibility to limit โ€œhatefulโ€ posts on social media, and they are far more likely than Republicans or Independents to support censorship of political views.

Thatโ€™s just one survey of course, but it captures a growing trend of authoritarianism on the left. We see it in polls, on college campuses and corporate boardrooms, on social media, and in how the left wields the power of the institutions it has captured, like the FBI and DOJ.

When you see these glaring disparities in how opponents of the Biden regime are treated by the Justice Department and the courts, when you see how corporate media cover the Trump indictments versus how they refuse to cover the Biden corruption scandal, when you see them calling for government censorship of โ€œmisinformationโ€ on social media, understand that they are never going to take a step back and consider whether all of this is justice or injustice.

Despite the outdated moniker of โ€œsocial justice warrior,โ€ leftist Democrats arenโ€™t interested in real justice. Theyโ€™re interested in gaining and using power. Once they have it, theyโ€™ll use it against their enemies. Appealing to their desire for civil comity is futile. They have no use for comity so long as they have power.

This is to say, they wonโ€™t stop this until what they are doing to their enemies is in turn done to them. You donโ€™t like left-wing district attorneys indicting the Republican frontrunner ahead of election season? Better find some GOP state attorneys general to indict Hunter and Joe Biden.

You donโ€™t like Attorney General Merrick Garland using the Justice Department to protect a corrupt Biden administration? Better impeach him along with Biden. Donโ€™t like a woke U.S. military funding abortions and gender surgeries on the defense secretaryโ€™s say-so? Better do as Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama has done and use all available leverage to stop them

Power is the only language the left understands. So, if Americans on the right want to be anything more than a managed opposition โ€” and letโ€™s be honest, plenty of elected Republicans are happy to be exactly that โ€” they had better figure out how to wield the limited power they do have. And they had better hurry.ย

Jason Chaffetz Op-ed: The Republican debate elephant that won’t be in the room Wednesday night (hint: it’s not Trump)

Byย Jason Chaffetzย FOXBusiness | September 27, 2023 5:00am EDT

The most pressing problem in America right now is the one no one wants to talk about. As Republican candidates (minus former President Donald Trump) line up to debate Wednesday night, they may be asked about the ballooning national debt and the resulting drag on the economy. They may offer a few solutions that nibble at the edges. But the real truth is ugly, painful, and unpopular.

Candidates understand that the American people want the debt burden reduced. But we donโ€™t want to hear the truth of what it would take to actually do it. How will the candidates on the debate stage Wednesday night straddle that line in a world where theyโ€™re being asked both to solve the problem and to garner votes and do it in less than 90 seconds? It will be the most difficult needle to thread.

Since we hit the $33 trillion debt threshold, we are adding over $800 million an hour in new debt.  Weโ€™re accumulating more than $2 billion a day in interest on that debt. And thanks to the most recent debt ceiling bill, there will be no cap on that debt until January 2025. There is no greater threat to our future freedom and prosperity.

Can anything be done to slow this runaway train of inflationary government debt?

GOP STRATEGISTS WARN 2024 PRESIDENTIAL CONTENDERS ‘CAN’T KEEP DANCING’ AROUND EACH OTHER AT SECOND DEBATE

Democrats unsuccessfully try to argue the “Trump Tax Cuts” drove up the deficit. In reality, the tax cuts helped grow the economy and revenue to the Treasury was at an all-time high. Unfortunately, they were not accompanied by spending cuts.

Stage set for 2nd GOP presidential primary debate

‘America’s Newsroom’ announces the podium lineup for the second GOP presidential debate.

To solve the problem, the easiest part is fixing the federal budget process. And make no mistake โ€” there is nothing easy about that. But fixing that process would go a long way toward taming the part of the spending pie chart controlled by Congress.

A new Heritage study found only 10 percent of theย $7.5 trillion in COVID spendingย actually paid for health care. That means Congress is charging 90 percent in overhead and who knows what else. A serious presidential candidate will offer up real solutions to that problem. ย

For the candidates on the debate stage, and the one currently in the lead to get the Republican nomination, the biggest elephant in the room is who has the guts and leadership to do the unpopular things necessary to get our fiscal future back to reality.

In truth, the “discretionary budget,” the expenditures controlled annually by Congress, which includes all debt interest payments and defense spending, is less than 25 percent of overall expenditures โ€” and shrinking. The real driver of federal deficits is mandatory, programmatic spending. These are the expenditures Congress doesnโ€™t address on an annual basis. They happen whether or not Congress acts.

US NATIONAL DEBT TRACKER: SEE HOW MUCH THE GOVERNMENT OBLIGATIONS COST

The mandatory, programmatic expenditures are popular transfer payments, including Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, student loans and ObamaCare and countless other programs you have never heard about from Congress. They are perpetual and donโ€™t get voted on annually. Any presidential candidate who dares touch that third rail of politics risks everything. Thereโ€™s a reason Trump wouldnโ€™t touch it.

GOP candidates gearing up to win over American voters in second debate

FOX Business’ Madison Alworth reports from Simi Valley, California, where the 2024 Republican candidates will take the debate stage Wednesday night.

In all the constituent and lobbyist meetings Iโ€™ve ever taken, I can count on one hand the number of times an ordinary constituent was there to lobby me to cut or reform these programs, and they are our countryโ€™s biggest drivers of our challenges. There is no constituency for doing the hard things that will actually solve the problem, or at least put us on a trajectory to a more sound fiscal policy.

Iโ€™ve found most people believe we can solve our debt problems by tinkering with spending they donโ€™t like. Congressional salaries, foreign aid or the ubiquitous “waste, fraud, and abuse” come up frequently, and they should. But the truth is, it is the mandatory, programmatic spending that needs reform to save the very programs so many want and need.

DeSantis? Haley? Swing state voters discuss most appealing candidate ahead of second debate

Swing state voters Deb Ludwig, Rebecca Boyer and Bernadette Wright discuss their top 2024 issues and the candidates that best align with them.

For the candidates on the debate stage, and the one currently in the lead to get the Republican nomination, the biggest elephant in the room is who has the guts and leadership to do the unpopular things necessary to get our fiscal future back to reality.

As for the Democrats, donโ€™t expect them to ever address responsible spending. It isnโ€™t in their DNA.

WH Calls Biden Payment Revelations ‘Conspiracy’ Theory

Byย Eric Mackย ย ย ย |ย ย ย Wednesday, 27 September 2023 11:29 AM EDT

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., got the attention of the White House on Wednesday after he revealed 2019 bank transfers from China were addressed to then-former Vice President Joe Biden’s Delaware home.

“Extreme House Republicans are pushing out half-baked innuendo and conspiracy theories that yet again show no evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden, just more discredited personal attacks on him and his family, in a sad effort to distract from their chaotic inability to govern that is leading us to the brink of a dangerous government shutdown,” White House legal counsel spokesman Ian Sams wrote in a statement provided toย Newsmaxย senior White House correspondent James Rosen on Wednesday.

Sams’ statement did not delve into the facts of Comer’s news release Tuesday and merely spinned it to rebuke the political opposition and claim House Republicans are at fault for a looming government shutdown.

“Imagine them arguing that, if someone stayed at their parents’ house during the pandemic, listed it as their permanent address for work, and got a paycheck, the parents somehow also worked for the employer,”ย Sams added via tweet Wednesday.

“It’s bananas.

“Yet this is what extreme House Republicans have sunken to.”

The first House impeachment inquiry hearing is set for Thursday, inviting three witnesses to speak: Eileen O’Connor, former assistant attorney general in the Department of Justice Tax Division; Jonathan Turley, a professor at George Washington University Law School; and Bruce Dubinsky, an expert witness in forensic accounting.

“Bank records don’t lie, but President Joe Biden does,” Comer wrote in a statement Tuesday. “In 2020, Joe Biden told Americans that his family never received money from China. We’ve already proved that to be a lie earlier this year, and now we know that two wires originating from Beijing listed Joe Biden’s Wilmington home as the beneficiary address when he was running for President of the United States.

“When Joe Biden was vice president, he spoke on the phone and had coffee with Jonathan Li in Beijing, and later wrote a college letter of recommendation for his children.

“Joe Biden’s abuse of public office for his family’s financial gain threatens our national security. What did the Bidens do with this money from Beijing? Americans demand and deserve accountability for President Biden and the First Family’s corruption. The Oversight Committee, along with the Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees, will continue to follow the evidence and money to provide transparency and accountability.”

The Battle to Prevent a Government Shutdown Revolves Around One Key Issue, McCarthy Says

By: Tyler O’Neilย /ย @Tyler2ONeilย /ย September 27, 2023

President Joe Biden gestures in a suit with an American flag pin

President Joe Biden needs to address the border crisis if he wants to keep the government open, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said Wednesday. Pictured: Biden in the Roosevelt Room of the White House on September 25. (Photo: Alex Wong/Getty Images)

If President Joe Biden wishes to avoid a government shutdown, he should sit down with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and hammer out a plan to secure the U.S.-Mexico border, McCarthy said at a news conference Wednesday.

โ€œI want to sit down with the president to solve that border,โ€ McCarthy told reporters.

The speaker addressed the president on his border policies: โ€œThis wasnโ€™t a policy that was passed from the House and Senate that opened up this border. It was simply your decision, and you could do something to change it.โ€

McCarthy said he planned to pass a continuing resolution in the House that includes the Houseโ€™s border bill, H.R. 2. Such a resolution with border requirements โ€œwould keep government open while we finish the job.โ€ Unless Congress passes and the president signs legislation funding the government, nonessential functions will shut down on Oct. 1. On Tuesday, theย House advanced four billsย to fund specific departmentsโ€”the departments of Defense, Homeland Security, State, and Agricultureโ€”that would limit the impact of the shutdown. (Funding the government requires 12 appropriations bills, or Congress can pass a continuing resolution to fund the government on a limited basis.)

The House is voting on amendments Wednesday and will vote on passing the bills Thursday. These bills would fund 71% of total discretionary spending for the next fiscal year. Meanwhile, the Senate has not voted on a single appropriations bill.

Also on Tuesday,ย the Senate advancedย a continuing resolution to fund the government through Nov. 17, the week before Thanksgiving. That bill would provide about $6.15 billion in additional funding for Ukraine and $5.99 billion in disaster relief funding. McCarthy said the Senate bill would be a nonstarter in the House.

โ€œI donโ€™t see the support in the House,โ€ he told reporters Wednesday.

The Daily Signal reached out to the Senate resolutionโ€™s sponsor, Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., for comment on the resolution and responses to criticism of it, but neither responded by publication time.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., is opposing the bill.

โ€œCoach is a no,โ€ Steven Stafford, Tubervilleโ€™s communications director, told The Daily Signal in an email statement Wednesday. โ€œD.C. politicians are doing more for Ukraineโ€™s border than our border, not to mention more for Ukraineโ€™s farmers than our farmers.โ€

Heritage Action for America urged members of Congress to vote against the legislation, making it a โ€œkey voteโ€ for legislative scorecards. (The Daily Signal is the news outlet of The Heritage Foundation, of which Heritage Action is the political action arm.)

Heritage Action Executive Vice President Ryan Walker said the Senate bill โ€œcompletely misses the mark.โ€

โ€œCombining reckless spending levels with priorities the American people overwhelmingly donโ€™t supportโ€”like additional, unaccountable funding for Ukraineโ€”this package would do nothing more than continue the status quo in Washington,โ€ he said.

Heritage Action has demanded that government funding bills must include โ€œmeaningful spending cuts to alter the nationโ€™s discretionary-spending trajectory,โ€ by lowering top-line spending to the levels of fiscal year 2022. It has also insisted that โ€œany short-term funding extension should include policy changes to secure the border and prevent the Biden administration from continuing its open-border agenda.โ€ The Senate bill meets neither of those criteria.

โ€œBetween worsening inflation, the crisis at the southern border, and the weaponization of the federal government against citizens, the American people are feeling the consequences of the Biden administrationโ€™s policies every day,โ€ Walker added. โ€œWe cannot afford more of the same failures and attacks on American opportunity.โ€

McCarthy emphasized the border crisis in his remarks Wednesday.

The speaker noted that 11,000 people crossed the U.S.-Mexico border on Tuesday, marking 50,000 people in the last five days.

โ€œThink about what America looks like now that President Biden has come into office,โ€ he said, noting various labor strikes across the country. โ€œWeโ€™ve got a wide-open border. Weโ€™ve got people picketing in Michigan thatโ€™s going to put more costs into cars, and why are they picketing? Because his policies subsidize electric cars that are taking their jobs away. Weโ€™ve got in Hollywood five months of picketing.โ€

โ€œWeโ€™ve got five embassiesโ€”American embassies in other countriesโ€”that had to be evacuated,โ€ the speaker added. โ€œBased upon his missteps in Afghanistan, we now have allies turning towards China. We now have something we havenโ€™t seen since the โ€™30s, the creation of the axis of powers. Itโ€™s North Korea, China, Russia and Iranโ€ allying with one another.

โ€œAll this chaos is based upon his foreign policy, his immigration policy,โ€ McCarthy claimed about Biden. โ€œHeโ€™s got people in his own party now, states declaring states of emergency.โ€ He noted that Democratic governors in Massachusetts and New York have declared states of emergency connected to the border crisis.

The speaker mentioned the spread of fentanyl, the growth of Mexican cartels, and the expansion of human trafficking.

โ€œJust going and joining a picket line that you created doesnโ€™t solve the problem by having a photo-op,โ€ he said.

Message From California: Parents and the Constitution Not Welcome

California Gov. Gavin Newsom may have vetoed one transgender bill, but he has signed many LGBTQ+ bills that send the message that parents and the Constitution are not welcome in California. Will the government take your child away because you donโ€™t buy into radical gender ideology? Well, if youย live in California, itโ€™ll certainly try.ย While Gov.ย Gavin Newsom surprisingly vetoedย the bill that would have forced parents to accept their childโ€™s gender identity, that veto can still be overridden by the state Legislature.

In child custody and visitation cases, judges normally consider the health, safety, and welfare of the child. But California legislators went the extra mile: Judges there might have to include a parentโ€™s affirmation of their minor childโ€™s gender identity when determining who gets to see the childโ€”or doesnโ€™t.

Newsom did signย nine LGBTQ special interest bills into lawโ€”including one that allows a minor child to change their official gender and sex identifierโ€ฆ Without. Telling. Parents.ย

California is violating parentsโ€™ constitutional rights to raise their children as they see fitโ€”recognized by the Supreme Court for more than 100 yearsโ€”while it works toward a full-state apparatus to force gender orthodoxy on kids.

The message from California is: parentsโ€”and the Constitutionโ€”not welcome.

Missouri Transgender Center Shuts Down Over SAFE Act Liability Provision

The Missouri state Capitol in Jefferson City is inscribed with a Latin motto that translates as “Let the welfare of the people be the supreme law.” The welfare of Missouri’s children is more secure now that the Washington University Transgender Center at St. Louis Childrenโ€™s Hospital has stopped providing gender-transition procedures for minors because of a new state law. (Photo: Stephen Emlund/iStock/Getty Images)

The Washington University Transgender Center at St. Louis Childrenโ€™s Hospital has stopped providing gender-transition procedures for minors, itย announcedย earlier this month, due to a provision in the Missouri SAFE Act that โ€œcreates unsustainable liabilityโ€ for its operations. The law was passed earlier this year andย became effectiveย on Aug. 28.

In June, an analysis by The College Fix found that 14 youth gender centers were likely to close this year as a result of state legislation protecting minors from gender-transition procedures. This month, two transgender centers at childrenโ€™s hospitals in Missouri confirmed that they have ceased operations, specifically because of the stateโ€™s new SAFE Act.

The Missouri Save Adolescents From Experimentation (SAFE) Act of 2023 (SB 49) forbids aย health care providerย from โ€œknowingly perform[ing] a gender-transition surgeryโ€ or โ€œknowingly prescrib[ing] or administer[ing] cross-sex hormones or puberty-blocking drugs for the purpose of a gender transitionโ€ to anyone under the age of 18. The provision protecting minors from gender-transition hormones exempts anyone who began treatment before the lawโ€™s effective date and expires after four years. Any health care provider who violates these provisions would have their license revoked.

Missouriโ€™s SAFE Act also makes prescribing or administering puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones for the purpose of gender transition โ€œa cause of action against the health care provider.โ€ The law offers infertility as an example of the types of harm that could be caused.

A Daily Wire investigation this summer discovered that a transgender center at the University of Virginia Childrenโ€™s Hospitalย listedย โ€œirreversible infertilityโ€ as a possible side effect of cross-sex hormones. Missouri minors harmed by these drugs can bring a malpractice suit until they reach the age of 36 or until 15 years after treatment for their injury has ceased. In such a suit, the law places a heavy burden of proof on the health care provider, while the person harmed โ€œshall be entitled to a rebuttable presumption that the individual was harmed โ€ฆ and that the harm was a direct result of the hormones or drugs prescribed or administered.โ€ If a health care provider lost such an unfavorable suit, it would be required to pay a minimum of $500,000.

The Washington University Transgender Center shut down because of this provision, which it said โ€œcreates unsustainable liability.โ€

โ€œIf it was real medicine, that wouldnโ€™t be an issue,โ€ the Family Research Councilโ€™s senior fellow for biblical worldview and strategic engagement, Joseph Backholm, told The Washington Stand. โ€œDoctors have always faced liability for their work, and if they knew it was the right thing to do, they would continue doing it.โ€

In February of this year, a whistleblowerย describedย the practices at Washington Universityโ€™s Transgender Center as โ€œmorally and medically appalling.โ€ According to the whistleblower, who self-identifies as far-left and pro-trans, the centerย lackedย formal protocols for treatment, placed children on drugs without proper review, and lied to government officials about referring minors for gender-transition surgery. In 2021, the centerย encouragedย a school to โ€œaffirmโ€ a group of fifth grade girls who identified as transgender en masse.

The whistleblowerโ€™s explosive account led Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey to launch an investigation of the center in February, which was still ongoing in late July. โ€œIf even one-tenth of the allegations are true, theyโ€™re abusing children,โ€ said Bailey.

โ€œAnd, in fact, parents were coerced into making these decisions,โ€ Bailey added. One mother who took her 13-year-old son to the center said she โ€œfelt bulliedโ€ by clinic staff who bombarded her with suicide statistics. โ€œI really felt like this is not a meeting for me to get answers to my questions and for everybody to have equal say.โ€

In March, Bailey filed an emergency regulation to restrict the transgender centerโ€™s access to minors, but he withdrew the rule in May after it was blocked by a judge.

Although Washington Universityโ€™s Transgender Center has been among the most controversial, it is not the only one to close due to recent state laws. A transgender center at the University of Missouri Childrenโ€™s Hospital also stopped providing gender-transition procedures to minors on Aug. 28, a spokesperson said. โ€œBoth blamed a section of the law that increased the liability for providers,โ€ The Associated Press reported.

Also according to The AP, โ€œat least some providersโ€ in North Dakota and โ€œacross the Southโ€ have stopped providing gender-transition procedures to minors simply due to uncertainty about what the laws prohibit.

โ€œThe number of clinics stopping this ghoulish work once liability is firmly established illustrates their own lack of confidence in the long-term benefits for the kids and themselves,โ€ Backholm said. โ€œClinics do this because they get rich and because they win progressive brownie points for doing so, but this suggests they may be unable to defend the work they do today years from now.โ€

Judge Rules Trump Defrauded Banks, Insurers as He Built Real Estate Empire

A judge has ruled that Donald Trump committed fraud for years while building the real estate empire that catapulted him to fame and the White House. Judge Arthur Engoron, ruling Tuesday in a civil lawsuit brought by New Yorkโ€™s attorney general, found that the former president and his company deceived banks, insurers and others by massively overvaluing his assets and exaggerating his net worth on paperwork used in making deals and securing financing.

The decision, days before the start of a non-jury trial in Attorney General Letitia Jamesโ€™ lawsuit, is a strong counter toย Trumpโ€™s carefully coiffed image as a wealthy and shrewd real estate mogul turned political powerhouse. Beyond mere bragging about his riches, Trump, his company and key executives repeatedly lied about them on his annual financial statements, reaping rewards such as favorable loan terms and lower insurance premiums, found Engoron, whom Trump has assailed as politically biased.

Those financial tactics crossed a line and violated the law, the judge said, rejecting Trumpโ€™s contention that a disclaimer on the financial statements — that the figures given were not to be taken as gospel, but rather used only as a guide — absolved him of any wrongdoing.

Manhattan prosecutors had looked into bringing a criminal case over the same conduct but declined to do so, leaving James to sue Trump and seek penalties that threaten to disrupt his and his familyโ€™s ability to do business in the state.

Engoronโ€™s ruling, in a phase of the case known as summary judgment, resolves the key claim in Jamesโ€™ lawsuit, but six others remain.

Engoron is slated to hold a non-jury trial starting Oct. 2 before deciding on those claims and any punishments he may impose. James is seeking $250 million in penalties and a ban on Trump doing business in New York, his home state. The trial could last into December, Engoron has said.

Trumpโ€™s lawyers had asked the judge to throw out the case, which he denied. They contend that James wasnโ€™t legally allowed to file the lawsuit because there isnโ€™t any evidence that the public or other business entities were harmed by Trumpโ€™s actions. They also argued that many of the allegations in the lawsuit were barred by the statute of limitations.

And they alleged this case, along with other indictments over the 2020 election and more, are intended only to derail his campaign to retake the White House next year.

Ibram X. Kendiโ€™s โ€˜Anti-Racismโ€™ Center Imploded. Letโ€™s Make Sure His Grift Doesnโ€™t Continue to Poison Our Society.

Academia never questioned the fundamental premise of Ibram X. Kendiโ€™s ideology, especially after the โ€œracial reckoningโ€ of 2020. Pictured: Kendi speaks onstage Sept. 9 during Netflix’s “Stamped From the Beginning” at the Toronto International Film Festival in Toronto, Canada. (Photo: Tommaso Boddi/Netflix/Getty Images)

Much like theย crookedย Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundationย before it, author and agitator Ibram X. Kendiโ€™s noxious โ€œanti-racismโ€ grift has imploded at Boston University. After three years of existence and tens of millions of dollars in funding, Kendiโ€™s organization reportedly is falling apart.

Kendiโ€™s Center for Antiracist Research received, at minimum, $43 million in grants and donations since it went into operation in 2020, according to the Boston Universityโ€™s student newspaper, The Daily Free Press.

โ€œThe $43 million, according to 2021 budget records obtained by The Daily Free Press, includes general support, such as the $10 million from Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, as well as donations for specific projects,โ€ the student newspaper reported.

Kendiโ€™s center had the budget of a small market sports franchise, which is a lot of money for an ambiguous research institute. The production that Boston University got for this massive investment ended up to be about the same as my beloved but hapless Oakland Aโ€™s.

Kendiโ€™s organization is now laying off staff en masse.

โ€œThereโ€™s a mismatch between the amount of money that [the Center for Antiracist Research] has received from these grants and what theyโ€™ve actually produced,โ€ an anonymous source told The Daily Free Press. โ€œYou can juxtapose that with other research centers either at BU or other universities that have received a tiny fraction of what CAR has received and has produced a lot more.โ€

It appears that, for all its money, Kendiโ€™s anti-racism center produced next to nothing. Former employees are publicly burying it.

โ€œItโ€™s not that Kendi tried and failed to generate meaningful scholarly output; he seems to have had no interest in doing so to begin withโ€”and no concept of what would have been involved if he tried,โ€ writes Spencer Klavan at the Spectator.

Really, what did Kendiโ€™s backers expect?

At no point has he ever been expected to prove his thesis with data or information. Academia never questioned the fundamental premise of Kendiโ€™s ideology, especially after the โ€œracial reckoningโ€ of 2020. Any who did within the official institutions of approved thought would have found themselves quickly banished for thought crimes.

The legacy mediaย praised Kendi breathlessly. In the few cases in which heโ€™s been called on to defend his more ridiculous ideasโ€”like howย lowering capital gains taxesย is a racist policyโ€”his unsatisfactory answers never got a follow-up. He was treated not as a scholar or researcher but as the Rasputin of anti-racism. Even at that, heโ€™s been woefully deficient. He gotย tens of thousands of dollarsย for short speaking engagements and a huge contract from Netflix.

Still, there was nothing to show for it.

At an extremely friendly Aspen Ideas festival event, Kendi was asked to define โ€œracism.โ€ The venerated swami of our woke eliteย answered: โ€œI would define it as a collection of racist policies that lead to racial inequity that are substantiated by racist ideas.โ€

According to Kendi racism is defined as doing a racism, leading to racism, the result being racism and inequity, which is racism. Got it?

I will give Kendi his due in one sense. His ideas have become akin to official orthodoxy in our countryโ€™s public and private institutions. Thatโ€™s more a product of our institutions looking for someone to say what Kendi would say rather than his unique and insightful brilliance. He just took advantage of the situation and sold them the snake oil theyโ€™d been yearning for.

For a refresher on Kendiโ€™s worldview, Iโ€™ll point to my review of his book, โ€œHow to Be an Antiracist.โ€ This book, alongside โ€œWhite Fragilityโ€ by Robin DiAngelo, became a kind of foundational tract for college-educated liberals burning with the fire of the Great Awokening.

Kendiโ€™s work revolved around three main concepts: First, that racism had to be redefined. It was no longer good enough to simply not be racist. There are only two modes of thought, Kendi wrote: racist and anti-racist. Denying you are a racist can actually make you a racistโ€”the classic Kafka trap.

Second, anti-racists such as Kendi have posited that โ€œcolorblindnessโ€ in dealing with race is itself racism. You must see race all the time, recognize it, then address it. Under the anti-racist rubric, race becomes the defining feature of human existence.

Third, Kendi wrote that the way to deal with past discrimination is present discrimination. In addition, literally any racial discrepancies in society, according to Kendi, are a product of racism. To be a good anti-racist, you really must be the right kind of racist.

Hereโ€™s what Kendi wrote in his book:

If discrimination is creating equity, then it is anti-racist. If discrimination is creating inequity, then it is racist. Someone reproducing inequity through permanently assisting an overrepresented racial group into wealth and power is entirely different than someone challenging that inequity by temporarily assisting an underrepresented racial group into relative wealth and power until equity is reached. The only remedy to racist discrimination is anti-racist discrimination. The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination.

To think that one can tinker with society to ensure perfect racial equity in all situations makes traditional Marxism seem downright pragmatic.

Did it matter that Kendiโ€™s project was philosophically absurd, in practice discriminatory and tyrannical? Not at all.

Big money and big institutions went all in on this project.

Millions of Kendiโ€™s books have flooded American bookstores and libraries, most of them now gathering dust.

Our technocracy needs a reason for being. Symbolically fighting against racism is what gives their institutions credibility and authority in an age where basic competence appears to be waning. The regime found a man and a movement with an almost limitless definition of what would count as โ€œracist,โ€ and therefore had a blank check to pursue the goal of stamping it out and justifying its existence.ย DEI bureaucraciesย proliferated.

At some point, reality starts to intervene. The anti-racism movement is more akin to a cult than antyhing else, with limitless ends and that would ultimately require totalitarian means to produce. Unfortunately, this cult attracted many adherents in high places.

On a larger scale, Kendiism has meant that our society has become more racialized and hateful. By embracing his ideas, our institutions increasingly will find themselves bumping up against the U.S. Constitution. The Supreme Court already has declaredย racial discrimination in college admissions unconstitutional. Corporate diversity, equity, and inclusion programs also have been called into question and eventually may face a similar court test.

You can see why the Left hates the current Supreme Court so much.

Does this setback mean thatย our elite institutionsย suddenly will abandon the DEI regime? Absolutely not. Corporate America may tire of losing money, but higher education and public bureaucraciesโ€“given a blank check of taxpayer money by politiciansโ€“will continue to promote the revolution. Theyโ€™ll ignore the backlash and carry on.ย

Still, we see plenty of signs that Americans are fed up with the poisonous ideas of Kendi and his fellow travelers. A critical mass of opposition is building, composed of those whoโ€™ve become contemptuous of the grift that has elevated and enriched fanatics and con men.

Over 1,000 minors reported missing by Cleveland this year, including almost 50 kids this month

More than 1,000 children have been reported missing aroundย Clevelandย this year, including nearly 50 minors who have seemingly disappeared from the same area so far this month. According to the Ohio Attorney General’s Officeโ€™s missing children website, a total of 1,072 children have been reported missing so far in 2023 from the Cleveland-Akron area. That includes more than 45 children reported missing from the Cleveland-Akron area in September so far.

In August, more than 35 minors were reported missing from the same area.

“Yes, of course, we are worried about that,” Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost told News 5 Cleveland in an interview Monday. “Now, what we know is when we look behind the numbers, some of those represent repeated runaways and local police have talked about that.”

“All of these things have localized reporting problems that, again, are a function of local conditions,” Yost said. “We do our best to encourage compliance and improve assistance to remove barriers, but at the end of the day, we have to rely on our local partners that we donโ€™t control.”

“I am fearful of all kinds of things that fall through the cracks that include missing children,” the attorney general added. “I rely on the tenacity of a worried parent more than I do a harried bureaucrat whose job it is to put data into a computer.”

Yost said the state is working with the University of Toledo to create an improved statewide data collection and reporting system. For now, the attorney general said reporting deficiencies and even search efforts are affected by what News 4 worded as “under-resourced law enforcement.”

“Law enforcement canโ€™t be everywhere and can’t see everything,” Yost said. “We rely on the people, the population, because we have 11.7 million pairs of eyes out there that can keep an eye out.”

Nearly 30 children were reported missing in the Cleveland area in the first two weeks of May, and Newburgh Heights Police Chief John Majoy, who also serves as the board president of the volunteer nonprofit Cleveland Missing, told Fox News Digital then that the number of 12- to 17-year-olds reported missing had remained at unprecedented levels throughout the month.

“For some reason, in 2023, we’ve seen a lot more than we normally see, which is troubling in part because we don’t know what’s going on with some of these kids, whether they’re being trafficked or whether they’re involved in gang activity or drugs,” Majoy told Fox News Digital in early June, describing the number of missing children in the area as something he had not seen in his 33-year career. “There’s always peaks and valleys with missing persons, but this year, it seems like an extraordinary year.”

A group of Cleveland Missing volunteers gathered in Slavic Village, Ohio, on Saturday to search for 15-year-old Keshaun Williams, who has been missing for more than 90 days. Williams vanished from a house party on June 17, Cleveland police said.

“Thereโ€™s just not enough police officers in the streets to do this as law enforcement,” Majoy told News 5 then. “The public is our greatest asset. We canโ€™t do this without the public.”

The missing teenโ€™s grandmother, Mary Williams, told News 5 she feels concern about her grandsonโ€™s whereabouts being ignored.

“If itโ€™s beyond that and something unthinkable has happened, I know that God is there,” she said. “God is with him, and heโ€™s protected, and wherever he is, God is. I know that.”

Biden’s education secretary criticizes parents who are ‘misbehaving’ and ‘acting like they know what’s right for kids’

The secretary of the Department of Education criticized some parents who protested against controversial curricula at school boards, and he was taken to task on social media for it.

Miguel Cardona made the comments during an interview with the Associated Press when asked if the criticism aimed at school boards had gotten worse in recent years.

“I’ve never seen it where it is now. There was civility. We could disagree. We could have healthy conversations around whatโ€™s best for kids,” said Cardona.

“I respect differences of opinion. I donโ€™t have too much respect for people that are misbehaving in public and then acting as if they know whatโ€™s right for kids,” he added.

“Or people that have a problem when we’re trying to provide some support for folks who are buried in debt and complain about a $10,000 support for thousands of their constituents, but are OK taking over a million dollars in loan forgiveness themselves as an elected official,” Cardona said. “That hypocrisy, I want to call it out.”

Cardona had made similar comments in the past when he tweeted that teachers knew what was best for children.

“Teachers know what is best for their kids because they are with them every day. We must trust teachers,” he wrote in May.

Cardona was lambasted at that time for those comments, and he was similarly pilloried over his new comments.

“Secretary Cardona has shown us through his actions that he has no respect for parents or parental rights. Now he has sealed the deal with his words,” responded the account for Moms for Liberty.

“This is how Biden’s Secretary of Education views parental rights. The Left thinks the government knows better than parents when it comes to the education and upbringing of our children,” replied Jessica Anderson of the Sentinel Action Fund.

“Secretary Cardona says he doesn’t respect parents who think they know what’s best for their kids. Huh? This is disqualifying. He should be fired today,” read another critical missive.

Cardona was also roundly mocked and ridiculed in April when he was challenged to provide the definition of a woman during a congressional hearing and he refused to provide one numerous times.

Democratย mayor blames Biden for explosion of immigrants in his town coming in โ€˜without any consequenceโ€™

A surge of illegal immigrants in a Texas town has led to increased crime and forced the closure of a lucrative international bridge, prompting the townโ€™s Democrat mayor to blame President Joe Biden for the crisis.

During a recent interview with Erin Burnett on CNNโ€™s โ€œOutFront,โ€ Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas described the situation as โ€œvery seriousโ€ for the city, which has a population ranging from 28,000 to 30,000.

โ€œIn the last couple of days, weโ€™ve had an excess of 5,000 people cross from Piedras Negras, Mexico, into Eagle Pass, Texas,โ€ he told the cable news network.

Salinas lamented that people were being โ€œlet looseโ€ into the community, raising safety concerns and leading to the closure of their international bridge, a significant source of revenue. โ€œYou have all these thousands of people just walking in, without any consequence whatsoever,โ€ he was quoted as saying.

State and federal agencies, including the Department of Public Safety and Border Patrol, are assisting the town. However, Salinas expressed disappointment with the Biden administrationโ€™s lack of action. โ€œIโ€™ll be honest with you, I believe 100 percent he does [bear some responsibility],โ€ Salinas said.

The mayor also criticized the federal government for not reaching out to him or his staff. โ€œNobody has bothered to call me, anyone in the city staff saying, โ€˜Hey, this is the federal government. We know what youโ€™re going through. Weโ€™re worried about you. This is our plan of action,โ€™โ€ he said.

Salinas called for the enforcement of existing laws. โ€œPlease, just enforce the laws that are on the books. We are a nation of laws,โ€ he urged, emphasizing that the situation is unfair to those who have immigrated legally in the past.

Salinas concluded by saying that the situation is โ€œunacceptable.โ€

โ€œIt takes a lot of money and years to do it the right way. And itโ€™s not fair for those people that now we have thousands of people coming in without one single consequence,โ€ he said.

Texas and the Biden administration have had considerable differences over immigration policy for the U.S. southern border with Mexico, which has seen a significant increase in illegal migration since Biden took office. In the first 10 months of fiscal year 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported nearly 2 million encounters with illegal immigrants at the southwest border.

According to preliminary data from The Washington Post, a record number of migrants crossed the southern border in August. There were reportedly 177,000 arrests along the Mexico border last month, an increase from 132,652 in July and 99,539 in June. U.S. Border Patrol arrested at least 91,000 migrants who entered the country as part of a family group in August.

A DHS spokesperson told the outlet that the increases are part of โ€œseasonal trends,โ€ and the government has repatriated over 17,000 parents and children who crossed the border as families since May.

Earlier this month, U.S. District Judge David Alan Ezra of the Western District of Texas, Austin Division, ruled that the state canโ€™t have a floating barrier on the Rio Grande without permission from the federal government, a victory for the Biden administration that the state has vowed to appeal.

Ezra issued a preliminary injunction ordering Texas to remove a 1,000-foot buoy barrier along the Rio Grande.

In July, under the directive of Gov. Greg Abbott, Texas deployed the buoy barrier to curb illegal entry into the U.S. amid an increase in border crossings in recent years. The U.S. Department of Justice argued that the buoys were installed in violation of the Rivers and Harbors Appropriation Act because they were placed without permission from the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

โ€œGovernor Abbott announced that he was not โ€˜asking for permissionโ€™ for Operation Lone Star, the anti-immigration program under which Texas constructed the floating barrier. Unfortunately for Texas, permission is exactly what federal law requires before installing obstructions in the nationโ€™s navigable waters,โ€ wrote Ezra, an appointee of former President Ronald Reagan.

Polling expert loses it over new poll showing Trump is crushing Biden by double digits: ‘So absurd on its face’

Political prediction expert Larry Sabato called out the Washington Post on Sunday over a new poll showing Donald Trump leading President Joe Biden by double digits. The shocking Washington Post/ABC Newsย poll found thatย if the election were held today, Trump would crush Biden among registered voters, 52% to 42%. Moreover, the survey found that Biden’s job approval stands at a dismal 37% โ€” a metric that in and of itself signals Biden will lose re-election โ€” because the majority of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of the economy and the border crisis.

To make matters worse for Biden, approximately two-thirds of Democratic voters and Democratic-leaning voters want the Democratic Party to nominate someoneย other thanย Biden in 2024. Most of those respondents aren’t picky about who his successor is โ€” they just want someone other than Biden. The poll also found that most Americans do not believe Biden is being unfairly targeted by House Republicans, who have opened an impeachment inquiry over allegations of corruption against Biden. Instead, 58% of respondents said Biden is being “held accountable” while just 32% said he is being “unfairly victimized by his political opponents.”

Sabato, a professor of politics at the University of Virginia, condemned the Washington Post for publishing the poll because, in his view, the results are “laughable.”

“Ignore the Washington Post โ€“ ABC poll. Itโ€™s a ridiculous outlier (Trump up 10 over Bidenโ€”laughable),” Sabato reacted. “My question: How could you even publish a poll so absurd on its face? Will be a lingering embarrassment for you.”

In another reaction post, Sabatoย saidย he is “torn between scoffing and laughing” at the poll’s results.

Another data expert, Nate Cohn of the New York Times, also called out the Washington Postย for describing the poll asย “probably an outlier.”

“It’s really, really hard to release outlying poll results, so you’ve got to give credit to ABC/Post here, but I do have a fairly major quibble with ABC/Post here: if you release consecutive ‘outlying’ poll results โ€” R+7 in May, R+10 today โ€” you don’t get to dismiss your results,” Cohn reacted.

“If it happens twice in a row in the same race, it’s clear that this is the result of some element of your approach, and either you either need to decide you’re good with it and defend it or you need to go home,” he said.

While the poll seems like an outlier because no other survey has shown Trump with such a significant lead โ€” almost every other poll shows Trump and Biden locked in a dead heat within the statistical margin of error โ€” it’s not clear what in the poll’s methodology may have produced the result.

Some critics have suggested Republicans were oversampled, but the poll asked respondents about their party affiliation. Only 25% identified as Republican, while 25% identified as Democrats and 42% identified as independents.

Suffering

Up to a third of trans-identified teens put on puberty blockers suffered a significant decline in mental health, according to new analysis of a survey from the United Kingdom.

In August, researchers published an updated review of data from a 2021 study in the U.K. on medRxiv, a preprint service for medical research. The original study conducted by the U.K. National Health Service (NHS) examined 44 children aged 12 to 15 over three years who were prescribed puberty-blocking drugs to treat gender dysphoria. Participants took triptorelin, a prostate cancer medicine used to inhibit the synthesis of estrogen in women and testosterone in men.

According to researchers at the University of Essex, the mental health of between 20 and 34 percent of participants significantly deteriorated while on the puberty-inhibiting drug. Just between 9 and 20 percent reported a reliable improvement. Between 56 and 68 percent witnessed no change in distress.

In other words, less than a fifth of those prescribed puberty-blocking drugs, if that, experienced emotional improvement after taking triptorelin. The findings contradict broad claims that such medical interventions are necessary to save gender-confused children from the perils of suicidal ideation. While the updated analysis from the University of Essex has yet to be peer-reviewed, another long-term study from Sweden found those who underwent transgender surgery were 19 times more likely to die by suicide than the general public.

The national suicide hotline is 1-800-273-8255. More resources are here.

A U.S. study published in 2019 found nearly 60 percent of trans-identified patients in a more than 10,000-patient survey were diagnosed with at least one psychiatric disorder (besides gender dysphoria) to begin with.

In June, the U.K. NHS updated guidelines to prohibit prescriptions for puberty blockers outside of clinical research. The change in protocol follows other European nations similarly pulling back on dangerous premature medical interventions on minors who wish to manipulate their gender.

โ€œIn the past few years, European health authorities conducted systematic reviews of evidence for the benefits and risks of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones,โ€ City Journal reported in February. โ€œThe findings from these reviews โ€” that the certainty of benefits is very low โ€” guided the hand of policymakers there to restrict access to hormones.โ€

On Friday, California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed radical legislation mandating that parents โ€œaffirmโ€ a childโ€™s newfound so-called โ€œgender identity.โ€ Parents with kids in Californiaโ€™s Chino Valley Unified School District, however, are still fighting state Democrats for the right to watch over their own children.

In August, Californiaโ€™s far-left Attorney General Rob Bonta launched a legal crusade to terminate the districtโ€™s new policy requiring schools to notify parents whenever a child tries to change pronouns or display other symptoms of gender dysphoria.

The mother of aย Virginia teenย sex-trafficked twice after her school concealed her newly asserted gender identity has filed a groundbreaking lawsuit against school staff and a Maryland public defender who alleged parental โ€œmisgenderingโ€ and abuse. Theย complaintย was filed Aug. 22 in the Western District of Virginia court on behalf of Michele Blair by theย Child and Parental Rights Campaignย (CPRC) with support from theย Foundation Against Intolerance and Racismย (FAIR).

It alleges that the defendantsโ€™ actionsโ€”first in withholding vital information about the girlโ€™s gender identification and related assault in the boysโ€™ bathroom, then later by falsely alleging abuse to deprive her mother of custodyโ€”resulted in the childโ€™s ordeal at the hands of sexual predators not once, but twice. Blair v. Appomattox et al. will set critical precedents in two areas of roiling national debate: parental notification of gender transition in schools and parental custody relating to gender identity.

Public Schools Hide Kidsโ€™ Dysphoria

More than 10 million children this fall returned to public schools that conceal kidsโ€™ transgender identities from parents. A California case recently settled for $100,000 is one of several lawsuits filed by parents whose children were secretly transitioned in school.

The Blair suit, however, is groundbreaking for displaying the liability schools risk when secret-keeping results in tragedy. Safely back in her loving home for more than a year now, Sage still suffers persistent nightmares and panic attacks. She is receiving intensive therapy for complex PTSD, her mother reports, a diagnosis related to prolonged helplessness amid extreme trauma.

The reason for the secrecy that prefaced her ordeal no longer exists: Sage has embraced her sex, reflecting in hindsight that she had โ€œjust wanted to make friendsโ€ at her new school by claiming to be a boy.

How gender identity relates to โ€œabuseโ€ is fiercely debated nationwide. In some states including California, pending legislation categorizes parental non-affirmation of gender dysphoria as abuse. The political cost of angering parents of all backgrounds has begun to affect 2024 campaigns, as demonstrated by California Gov. Gavin Newsomโ€™s unexpected veto of one of these bills.

In 2023, Virginia lawmakers debated โ€œSageโ€™s Law,โ€ requiring parental notification in schools and clarifying that raising a child according to his or her sex may not be considered abuse. Virginia Senate Democrats killed Sageโ€™s Law, and it has become a campaign issue. In fact, the transgender delegate who vehemently opposed House Bill 2432 is now facing a veteran anti-trafficking leader championing the bill.

Given the lack of evidence for benefits to minors from โ€œgender-affirming careโ€ and the tremendous risk and potential for regret, the question of what constitutes โ€œabuseโ€ and grounds for state intervention is urgent.

โ€œSageโ€™s story is an absolute tragedy that no child should ever have to endure. But what is even worse is that it was entirely preventable,โ€ said attorney Vernadette Broyles in announcing the lawsuit. โ€œSchool administrators and public officials alike decided that their authority superseded that of her parentsโ€ฆThis is about who has the best interests of the child at heart, who knows that child better than anyone else, and ultimately who must make important personal decisions for a child.โ€

An โ€˜Entirely Preventableโ€™ Nightmare

Sageโ€™sย heartbreakingย story was documented in Theย Federalistย last winter, when Delegate Dave LaRock introducedย Sageโ€™s Lawย in the Virginia General Assembly. She was a 14-year-old freshman at Appomattox County High School in 2021 when her school allegedly reinforced her claim to be male and concealed it from her parents. She was severely bullied, then assaulted in the male bathroom school employees told her to use, according to the complaint.

Sage ran away, leaving a note expressing fear of further violence. She was caught by a predator who drugged and raped her, then drove her into Washington, DC, where other men sex-trafficked her into Maryland.

When the FBI rescued Sage in Baltimore eight days later, a public defender alleged โ€œmisgenderingโ€ and abuse at home, so aย judgeย withheld custody from Sageโ€™s loving parents for more than two months. Instead, the judge ordered Sage to a Maryland state home in male quarters, where she was assaulted again, the lawsuit says. Sage fled and was once again caught by a predator and raped, drugged, starved, and tortured, this time for months before law enforcement found her in Texas.

Seeking Justice for Sage

The 55-page complaint lays out nine causes of action, seeking โ€œcompensatory and punitive damagesโ€ plus court costs for โ€œtortious interference with the parent-child relationship, conspiracy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, professional malpractice, and other rightsโ€ resulting in extreme harm to Sage and her mother. The first four causes of actionย targetย Appomattox County High School counselors Dena Olsen and Avery Via, Superintendent Annette Bennett, and the school board.

The remaining causes contain shocking charges against Maryland public defender Aneesa Khan and the school counselors of malpractice, perjury, and conspiracy โ€œaimed at depriving Mrs. Blair of custody of her daughter and keeping [Sage] in Maryland to be affirmed in a male identity.โ€ The complaint alleges the trio knowingly presented false testimony of abuse to Judge Robert Kershaw, and that their success in convincing him to keep Sage from her parents resulted in her subsequent abuse in a state home and in her second, months-long victimization.

Lawsuit: Hiding Info Led to Sex Trafficking

The Appomattox defendants, contends the lawsuit, concealed both the schoolโ€™s unauthorized โ€œmental health interventionโ€ affirming Sage as male and the resultant student โ€œbullying, verbal, physical and sexual assault.โ€ It alleges they failed to take corrective action or to initiate a Title IX sexual harassment investigation, instead directing the girl into the male bathroom, where she was assaulted.

Among the most damning allegations is the counselorsโ€™ egregious disregard for Sageโ€™s history of trauma and mental health concerns. Michele had provided these to the school expecting they would work closely with her like Sageโ€™s previous school had, she described in testimony to Virginiaโ€™s legislature.

Sage lost her father as a baby and had been through six foster homes by age two when Michele, her biological grandmother, adopted her. Michele recalls Sageโ€™s unusual silence as a child: she had learned not to cry because adults didnโ€™t respond.

With years of love, she developed into a happy child. Then a wave of mental health issues emerged with puberty, compounded by Covid isolation. As a trained Virginia Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), Michele sought professional help for Sage, including hospitalization the summer before she entered high school.

Despite this known vulnerability, contends the lawsuit, Appomattox kept Sageโ€™s parents in the dark even once reports surfaced of assault in the boysโ€™ bathroom. School personnel met repeatedly with Sage alone, culminating in an emotional session on August 25, 2021 where they threatened she could be sued if she made false allegations against the boys, the lawsuit says. Sage suffered a โ€œpsychotic break,โ€ alleges the lawsuit, and ran away that night into the nightmare that followed.

Counselors, Public Defender โ€˜Conspiredโ€™

The night Sage was rescued in Baltimore, she spent hours alone at the hospital undergoing a difficult rape exam into the wee hours of the morning. As she was being driven to a detention center afterward, the complaint alleges, Sage asked that her mother be called to take her home. This request was denied and she was locked in solitary detention. Later that day, Khan was claiming in court that the Blairs were abusive and Sage did not want to go home.

Among the disturbing facts alleged are sudden, mysterious phone calls originating from self-described โ€œmandated reportersโ€ to the Appomattox County child abuse hotline hours after Sage was found on September 3, โ€œbefore her rescue and location were known to anyone but law enforcement, Mrs. Blair and Ms. Khan.โ€

Other reports followed, claiming Michele had subjected Sage to โ€œโ€˜conversion therapyโ€™ aimed at changing [Sageโ€™s] gender identity.โ€ This was โ€œfactually impossible,โ€ as Michele allegedly only became aware of the gender identity shift the night Sage ran away. In fact, asserts the complaint, Khan conspired with Olsen and Via to โ€œfacilitat[e] the initiation of child protective services investigations in Virginia and Maryland.โ€

There are further allegations of grievous cruelty to a traumatized young rape victim: Sage was never informed her parents were waiting for her right outside the jail; Khan convinced Sage to lie to the court that her parents had abused her; Khan told the child her mother no longer wanted her, and withheld all the gifts and loving letters Michele sent to Sage at the Maryland childrenโ€™s home.

These โ€œextreme and outrageous actions intentionally aimed at harmingโ€ฆMrs. Blairโ€™s parental relationship with [Sage]โ€ were allegedly โ€œall because Ms. Khan believed that [Sage] must be affirmed as male,โ€ the lawsuit says. According to a text from Sage to a friend, Khan had the stated ambition of taking her case to the Supreme Court.

Ideology Trumps Care for Trauma

Broylesย statedย to The Federalist Radio Hour that โ€œideology overwhelmed everything we know about trauma, about sex abuse victims, about children needing their parents and how they should be restored [to them] immediatelyโ€ฆunless thereโ€™s actual proof ofโ€ฆabuse.โ€ Instead, a 100-pound, deeply wounded girl with no criminal record was jailed for several days, then housed with troubled teenage boys, โ€œwhere she was exposed to drugs, further sexual harassment and assault.โ€

Broyles reasoned Sage was treated โ€œas if sheโ€™s a juvenile delinquentโ€ฆin order to maintain control.โ€ The legal maneuvering in Maryland lasted more than two months, with Judge Kershaw holding multiple hearings that delayed Sageโ€™s return to Virginia required under the Interstate Compact for Juveniles (ICJ).

Khanโ€™s alleged narrative of abandonment fell on receptive ground: Sage told Michele months later how much sheโ€™d missed her, but tried not to, because she โ€œknewโ€ Michele didnโ€™t want her. The shame and unworthiness felt by victims of sexual exploitation is well-documented. โ€œTrauma-related shame is an irrational and biological responseโ€ฆconnected to the specific reactions of denial, hiding, and running away,โ€ explains one study.

A Critical Precedent on School Secrecy

The school secrecy that allegedly facilitated Sageโ€™s ordeal is an intense national debate. In Virginia, leftist school boards like Fairfax Countyโ€™s are defying Gov. Glenn Youngkinโ€™s new model policies requiring parental notification and use of privacy facilities by sex, not gender identity. California and New Jersey are suing their own constituents, at constituent expense, for the right to deceive them about their own children.

Parents are fighting back, and surveys show that even left-leaning voters overwhelmingly favor parental notification in schools. Yet many Democrat politicians fiercely oppose it. They are backstopped by a billion-dollar industry that profits from pediatric transition and funds pro-secrecy activists in schools and legislatures, facilitating access to lifelong patients.

Significantly, records indicate Appomattox staff followed the same principle of instant, uncritical, and secret affirmation dictated by LGBT activistโ€“crafted model policies that have infiltrated thousands of schools. The โ€œSchools in Transitionโ€ model policy insists โ€œaffirming a childโ€™s gender identity is in a childโ€™s best interest,โ€ and that school personnel have โ€œunique insight into the studentโ€™s needs without the biases parents can or are perceived to have.โ€

An Essential Precedent on Childrenโ€™s Rights

This raises the critical question: does refusal to affirm a child as the opposite sex constitute โ€œabuseโ€ and grounds for removal from parental custody, as Khan advocated in court? Activists are training legal officials and law students that it does.

A bill Californiaโ€™s legislature passed would transfer children to state custody where, as Sage experienced, the risk of actual abuse skyrockets. Simultaneously, by dictating that foster parents โ€œaffirmโ€ kidsโ€™ sexual identities, California is reducing the homes available to needy foster kids.

In some states, family custody is already decided on this basis. While all 50 states are bound by the ICJ governing the return of runaway minors, some have passed โ€œrefugeโ€ laws preventing the return of children who have run or been taken across state lines for โ€œgender-affirming care.โ€

This wildly aggressive intrusion into parental rights is remarkable not only for the destruction it has wrought, but for the absence of justification. As other nations have concluded, there is a profound lack of scientific evidence to support pediatric gender transitions. And tens of thousands of detransitioners now bitterly regret the lifelong medical consequences of adults affirming their childhood choices.

The fundamental question in Blair v. Appomattox et al. is whether fit parents or the state rightfully decide a childโ€™s best interests. Sageโ€™s story as described in the complaint shows the devastating potential harm to children when ideologically captured institutions wrest control of a childโ€™s life from parents. While the case will set critical precedents in schools and courts, it also highlights the pressing need for laws reinforcing the right of parents to protect their children from state overreach.

Michele says sheโ€™s filing this lawsuit in the โ€œhopeโ€ฆthat no parent ever has to go through what [she] did to protect their child.โ€

South Carolina Republican demands mainstream media cover ‘open’ border crisis that ‘nobody can deny’

Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., clashed with CNN host Jim Acosta on Sunday over the border crisis, with the GOP lawmaker arguing that “CNN should report what’s going on.”

Acosta repeatedly asked Norman how Republicans planned to secure the border if there is a government shutdown and said, “I guess I don’t understand that.”

“Weโ€™re going to have to force โ€” the public is going to have to force this Biden Administration to let the border patrol agents do their job, to get the wall built, have designated points of entry. And this administration is not doing it. Theyโ€™re doing it intentionally. And whether you agree with it or not, theyโ€™re doing it for power. Why are they giving Social Security numbers and driverโ€™s licenses?” the congressman responded.

Acosta pushed back and demanded proof of his argument before saying, “it sounds like you’re just throwing rhetoric around.”

“Have you been to the border?” Norman asked Acosta.

Acosta responded, “Of course I have.”

“Have you seen whatโ€™s going on, the rapes, itโ€™s open. Nobody can deny that,” Norman continued.ย
“Iโ€™ll ask the questions, sir. And the border is not open. That is something that is peddled as a talking point, but itโ€™s not true. There are fences. There are walls. There are border patrol agents who work on the border,” Acosta said.ย

Migrant encountersย at the southern border soared past the 200,000 mark in August, hitting a new high for the calendar year and marking the highest August on record. Norman insisted border patrol agents were frustrated, challenging Acosta to ask “anyone down there.”

“You have not been able to answer my question as to how you effectively doย border enforcementย if youโ€™re shutting down the government. But I guess weโ€™re not going to get an answer to that question. Right? I mean, if you shut down the government, Saturday rolls around, youโ€™re going to have border patrol agents who are going to be without pay. How are they going to want to go out there and do border patrol enforcement if theyโ€™re not getting paid? It sounds like an effective way of running the government,” Acosta said.ย

The CNN host also said that the former president’s border wall was never built.

“Jim, look, those are your talking points. He did build a wall. He couldnโ€™t finish it because Joe Biden stopped him when he unfortunately went into office. And steel is laying on the ground, paying subcontractors. Itโ€™s a national security problem,” Norman said. “CNN should report what’s going on.”

“We are down there at the border all the time reporting on whatโ€™s taking it place. Weโ€™re doing it every day,” Acosta responded.

Gov. Ron DeSantis to Newsmax: Polls Push to Get Trump In, Biden Out

Byย Eric Mackย ย ย ย |ย ย ย Monday, 25 September 2023 02:07 PM EDT

The Washington Post/ABC News released a poll showing former President Donald Trump leading President Joe Biden by 10 points, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis suspects that is effectively a narrative-driven poll result.

Polls are showing a desire to push narratives to get Trump the GOP nomination and potentially drive Biden out of running for reelection, DeSantis told Newsmax‘s Addison Smith in a one-on-one interview that aired in part on “Newsline.”

“Just understand, the media โ€” if he ends up being the nominee, they will not be putting polls out like that; it’ll be the opposite,” DeSantis said. “I mean, they use this to juice a narrative.”

DeSantis pointed to the poll results showing Trump leading Biden among voters under 35 by 20 points as begging the question about the narrative goals behind publishing a self-described “outlier” result.

“I think people were showing that that poll had Trump beating Biden with under 35 by 20 points: No Republican has even won that, so when you see that you wonder, OK, what are they trying to do?” DeSantis continued. “I think they’re trying to do two things: I think the corporate press does want Trump to be the nominee. I think you see that in the coverage of that. I think you also see that in how they attack me. But I also think they’re trying to get the Democrats to dislodge Biden.”

The “corporate press” is trying to turn Democrats away from a Biden reelection campaign to get another candidate like California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom in the race, according to DeSantis.

“They want to show that Biden is weak, and they would like to see a Newsom or somebody else,” he added. “So I think when the corporate press is doing this, I think people should take it with a grain of salt, absolutely.”

DeSantis has already been geared up for a Newsom run, having already committed to a Nov. 30 debate with the California Democrat at 9 p.m. ET.

“That’s why, you know, he said he would debate me, so I said, ‘Let’s do it,'” DeSantis continued. “We’re waiting for the date. Hopefully, we’ll be able to do it, you know, within the next month or two. I think it’s an important debate for the country โ€“ not like saying who’s better Florida or California, because that debate is over.”

The migration numbers away from California and to Florida has shown people have already voted in that debate “with their feet,” DeSantis said.

“They’ve left California and come to Florida not the other way around. He has lost massive amounts of population. No governor in California history has ever witnessed population loss at all on net and he’s had it and that’s because of the policies he’s driving people away.

“But what’s the future for the country? The future for the country for what the left would want to do is just double down on the California policies. And so I think it’s being important debate. I think he’s definitely angling for it.”

Biden will not just “step down willingly,” DeSantis concluded. “I think it’s harder to dislodge somebody who’s an incumbent president and people assume it would be, but I think the Democrat establishment really, really is concerned, particularly, you know, if they have to run against somebody like me.

“I think that their view on Trump is that he will help energize their base to come out in ways that maybe some other Republicans won’t. I don’t know that that’s true, per se, the way they’re thinking it.

“But they do think that, so I think they’re looking for, How do we get away from this? Because, you know, Biden is floundering on the world stage. I mean, it’s been really embarrassing to see what he’s doing.”

Trump: Probe Media for ‘Country-Threatening Treason’

Former President Donald Trump called for a thorough review of media bias in America, prompting a rebuttal from the White House.

“They are almost all dishonest and corrupt, but Comcast, with its one-side and vicious coverage by NBC NEWS, and in particular MSNBC, often and correctly referred to as MSDNC (Democrat National Committee!), should be investigated for its ‘Country Threatening Treason,'” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday.

“Their endless coverage of the now fully debunked SCAM known as Russia, Russia, Russia, and much else, is one big Campaign Contribution to the Radical Left Democrat Party.”

Trump added a vow to investigate the some mainstream media’s ties to the Democratic Party for potential “corruption” if he is elected president.

“I say up front, openly, and proudly, that when I WIN the Presidency of the United States, they and others of the LameStream Media will be thoroughly scrutinized for their knowingly dishonest and corrupt coverage of people, things, and events,” Trump wrote.

“Why should NBC, or any other of the corrupt & dishonest media companies, be entitled to use the very valuable Airwaves of the USA, FREE? They are a true threat to Democracy and are, in fact, the enemy of the people!” he ended in all caps.

He added, “The Fake News Media should pay a big price for what they have done to our once great Country!”

Trump’s statements got the attention of President Joe Biden’s White House.

“President Biden swore an oath to uphold our Constitution and protect American Democracy,” White House senior communications adviser Andrew Batesย wrote to Mediaite in a statement. “Freedom of the press is a fundamental Constitutional right.

“To abuse presidential power and violate the Constitutional rights of reporters would be an outrageous attack on our democracy and the rule of law. Presidents must always defend Americans’ freedoms โ€” never trample on them for selfish, small, and dangerous political purposes.”

She Wanted to Be a Man From a Young Age and Lived as One for 11 Years. Why Kathy Grace Duncan Detransitioned.

A young girl holds the corner of a large transgender flag.

Kathy Grace Duncan lived as a man for 11 years before she decided to detransition. She joins โ€œThe Daily Signal Podcastโ€ to share her story. Pictured: A girl holds the Transgender Pride flag during the pride march in Madrid, Spain on July 9, 2022. (Photo: Luis Soto/SOPA Images/LightRocket/Getty Images)

As a little girl, Kathy Grace Duncan watched her father abuse her mother and vowed she would never be victimized like her mom.

โ€œI didnโ€™t have the tools to realize that my dad was abusive, my momโ€™s a victim,โ€ Duncan says, โ€œso, my takeaway from that was that women were weak, women were vulnerable, and women were hated.โ€

Duncan realized she would grow up to be a woman and did not want to be โ€œweak,โ€ so she says she โ€œmade a vow at a very early age, โ€˜Iโ€™m going to be the man my dad is not.’โ€

โ€œI was running from pain,โ€ Duncan says.

When she was 19, Duncan began toย live as a manย and did so for the next 11 years. When Duncan came to know Jesus as her savior, she got involved in a local church while she was still living as a man.ย Over the course of several years, Duncan journeyed with her church community and eventually made the decision to detransition.ย

For Duncan, it was a five year journey to go through the โ€œdetransitioning process, and that was undoing the thinking that being a woman is bad, that Iโ€™m not safe, that Iโ€™ll be hated, that Iโ€™m vulnerable,โ€ she says.

Duncan, director of gender advocacy for theย CHANGED Movement, joins โ€œThe Daily Signal Podcastโ€ to share her story and discuss what children struggling with gender dysphoria need most. Elizabeth Woning, co-founder of CHANGED Movement, also joins the show to explain the fight to preserve counseling and therapy that affirms and celebrates an individualโ€™s biological sex amid a struggle with their gender identity.ย

Below is the lightly edited transcript:

Virginia Allen: I am so pleased to have with me in studio today two amazing women from the CHANGED Movement, Kathy Grace Duncan and back with us is Elizabeth Woning. Thank you both so much for being here today.

Elizabeth Woning: Itโ€™s a privilege to be here.

Allen: I want to take a moment just to talk a little bit about what CHANGED Movement is. For those that havenโ€™t heard our previous conversations, that arenโ€™t familiar with the amazing work you-all do, just give us, in a nutshell, your heart, what your mission is.

Woning: Well, CHANGED came together in 2018 out of some bad legislation in California that would have limited resources for people who are questioning their sexuality.

And so the other co-founder, Ken Williams, and I, we were doing ministry. Weโ€™re both pastors in Northern California. We thought, โ€œThis is a bad idea,โ€ since both of us have come out of LGBT ourselves, to limit the kind of resources that are available for people, particularly if theyโ€™re leaving LGBT culture and want to follow Christ.

So we started speaking up and out of that. Then this strange new organic grassroots movement started to form. We met hundreds at that point of people who had left LGBT just like we had.

Ken and I both are married to opposite-sex spouses. We no longer identify as gay. Weโ€™ve experienced really dramatic transformation in our lives. Ken has four kids. He and his wife Tiffany have four kids. And so with that, we see that, I would say, justice for the LGBT community, in our opinion, is restoration. True justice is restoration. And so we do what we can now.

So out of that legislation, this movement formed that we called CHANGED, because as we were in committee hearings and sharing how the Lord had changed and impacted our lives, as you can imagine, the legislators in California kind of looked at us like we had three heads. And so we thought, โ€œWhat can we do?โ€ And at one point weโ€™re driving back to Northern California out of Sacramento and Ken said, โ€œWe need a book.โ€

And so we formed this book of testimonies. This wouldโ€™ve been the kind of resource banned by this legislation. We provocatively called it โ€œCHANGEDโ€ because we really wanted to bring the point forward that people leave LGBT all the time, and you just never hear about those people. So we created this book, and that kind of became a sensation and it formed this movement that we now call CHANGED.

We have a ministry side that helps equip pastors and leaders to better address the needs of those who are following Christ away from LGBT culture, but then also continue in the advocacy space. Because increasingly, avenues away from LGBT culture are closing. I mean, I could go so far as to say itโ€™s becoming illegal to get help, to get support, even to hear the Gospel if you identify as LGBT.

And so we want to be in that advocacy space, protecting free speech and First Amendment rights, freedoms of conscience, freedom to pursue professional therapy even. Thatโ€™s who we are at CHANGED. Thatโ€™s what weโ€™re doing.

Allen: Well, itโ€™s a powerful space to be in. Kathy Grace, you have such a profound story that has impacted so many lives, both through CHANGED and through sharing your story on so many platforms. Letโ€™s go all the way back to the beginning and walk through your story. What was your childhood like? When did you begin to start questioning your own sexuality and questioning your own identity?

Kathy Grace Duncan: Sure. It was like before I went to kindergarten. So ages 3 and 4, I already felt that I was born into the wrong body, that I should have been born a boy. So that was kind of my start in life, if you will.

My childhood, the house I grew up in, it was pretty dysfunctional. My dad was emotionally and verbally abusive to my mom, and my mom was the victim.

Now, at that age, I didnโ€™t have the tools to realize that my dad was abusive, my momโ€™s a victim. So my takeaway from that was that women were weak, women were vulnerable, and women were hated. And realizing Iโ€™m a girl, Iโ€™m going to grow up to be a woman, I donโ€™t want to do that. But yet I donโ€™t want to be that man my dad is, so I made a vow at a very early age Iโ€™m going to be the man my dad is not.

So thatโ€™s how I saw life through that: If I grow up, Iโ€™m going to be this, so Iโ€™d rather be a man instead. I didnโ€™t become a man because I wanted to date women or anything like that. It was, I was running from pain. I didnโ€™t want to be hated, vulnerable, or weak from those lies.

Allen: How old were you when you started telling people, โ€œIโ€™m a man,โ€ and living essentially as a man, dressing like a man?

Duncan: When I was 19, I became desperate. Throughout my whole childhood, that was my secret. I didnโ€™t tell anybody. And then at the age of 19, I was desperate. So I moved out of the house, changed my name, started hormones, and started living as a man.

Allen: What was the response of people around you? Also, set the context of, around what year was this?

Duncan: Sure. So, it was early โ€™80s, so it was definitely frowned upon and very unknown. You were basically looked at as being really weird. My whole goal was to have a normal life. And to me, that was normal.

I didnโ€™t tell anybody when I changed. I moved in with a single-parent woman and I didnโ€™t tell her anything. I presented already as a man on hormones, and then I told them that the hormones was to help me because I had a pituitary issue. So I told a lot of white lies to cover up what I was doing. But again, it was out of desperation.

Allen: And how long did you live as a man?

Duncan: I lived as a man for 11 years.

Allen: When did you start thinking, โ€œOK, this isnโ€™t โ€˜fixing it’โ€? Or when did you kind of begin to feel just like, โ€œWait a second, Iโ€™m not sure that this was what I wanted or that this is the answerโ€?

Duncan: I actually didnโ€™t ever question. I think thatโ€™s because my mind was so set at a very early age. I thought, โ€œThis was it. This was the goal.โ€ But it was probably about four years before I came out of the lifestyle I started opening my heart and my life everywhere to the Lord. He had called to me and said, โ€œWill you now?โ€ And I said, โ€œYes,โ€ because there wasnโ€™t any reason why I couldnโ€™t.

And so I started following him and looking for him, and I was going to be everywhere where he was. And at the end of that four-year period, Iโ€™m still serving in the church as a man.

Allen: And your community sees you completely as a man?

Duncan: Correct. And at the end of that, I was confronted by the church. They said, โ€œHey, weโ€™re hearing some rumors about you. We just want to know who are you? Who are you really?โ€ And it was at that point I confessed, โ€œIโ€™m a woman living as a man.โ€ Which I didnโ€™t believe that before, so it was the four years of the Lord working in my heart where I came to that place. When I confessed that, I encountered the Lord. He blew into me and I realized then I have to go back to being the woman he created me to be.

Allen: Thatโ€™s a huge โ€œyesโ€ after 11 years. The Lord takes you on this four-year journey. What was that process then of detransitioning and saying again, โ€œIโ€™m a woman and Iโ€™m going to live and present as a womanโ€?

Duncan: Sure. So, there was five years that I went through the detransitioning process, and that was undoing the thinking that being a woman is bad, that Iโ€™m not safe, that Iโ€™ll be hated, that Iโ€™m vulnerable. So itโ€™s undoing those things and embracing being a woman is good, and I was created on purpose for a purpose, and we have an intentional God.

And so, again, just embracing those things, figuring out that Iโ€™m safe, Iโ€™m OK, and figuring out how do I embrace being a woman and how do I cast off being a man? Itโ€™s like taking off the old, putting on the new.

I have to say, the first time I ever wore a dress, I was paralyzed. I felt like I was supposed to, but I went into the womenโ€™s bathroom and I couldnโ€™t come back out. Iโ€™m like, โ€œTheyโ€™re going to think Iโ€™m weird.โ€

I was a fundraiser for this ministry I was a part of. And the executive directorโ€™s wife come in and sheโ€™s like, โ€œSo what are you doing here?โ€ Because Iโ€™m just sitting there. Sheโ€™s like, โ€œWhat are you doing in here?โ€ And Iโ€™m like, โ€œIโ€™m terrified. I canโ€™t go out there.โ€ She goes, โ€œCome on and Iโ€™ll go with you.โ€ And then it was, after that, I was like, โ€œOK, this isnโ€™t quite as bad as what I first feared.โ€

Allen: When you think back to yourself as a young child, that 3-, that 4-year-old who was in that place of struggle, you were watching what was happening to your mom and thinking, โ€œI donโ€™t want to be victimized,โ€ what were the resources that now as an adult you can think back and say, โ€œThis is what I needed. This is what little Kathy Grace needed. And for any child whoโ€™s experiencing gender dysphoria, this is what they needโ€?

Duncan: Well, I think, first of all, to have intentional parents. To look at, โ€œWeโ€™ve got this little girl whoโ€™s struggling.โ€ And even though I may not have been showing it, I still needed to be loved. I still had needs that were going unmet. My mom wasnโ€™t very nurturing. And so itโ€™s looking for my parents to go, โ€œYou love me,โ€ and to nurture me up as a little girl. For my dad to say, โ€œYouโ€™re my beautiful little girl.โ€

So for parents to begin to instill that in their kids at a very early age because theyโ€™re making up their mind about who they are, even at 3 and 4.

And other resources than that, maybe teachers. Teachers looking at that, going, โ€œYou know, this little girl, sheโ€™s quite a tomboy. Iโ€™m just going to kind of watch her.โ€ But as far as other resources like that, I didnโ€™t have any.

Allen: For both of you, please feel free to jump in on this, what are the psychological resources that today are available, specifically for young people who are struggling with their gender identity? What is out there that they can access and what are the major holes that you-all still see in this realm?

Woning: Thereโ€™s so many. Thereโ€™s so many. One of the things that is true today is, Kathy Grace has reflected for years on her childhood. Like, โ€œHow did this happen?โ€ But even so, even what she knows about her childhood and even what that can tell us about children today who are experiencing dysphoria, the phenomenon that weโ€™re seeing today is new of young children, especially young girls, believing that theyโ€™re boys and moving in the trajectory of transitioning into what they perceive to be masculinity or manhood in droves, seeking mastectomies and hysterectomies to transition. This is a new phenomenon that has never happened before.

Now, the tomboy phenomenon has been around, I think, probably foreverโ€”not just because girls might have some kind of emotional distress, but because of developmental factors in their bodies. Actually, young girls who might be 5, 6, 7 have a lot of testosterone in their bodies at that time. And so their developing body can influence that.

But so the phenomenon weโ€™re seeing today is so new. Itโ€™s very poorly studied. Thereโ€™s very little expertise speaking to gender dysphoria generally. If you look across the LGBTQ world, the transgender population is very small in percentage comparison to the population of the LGB population. It is very small. Itโ€™s kind of a very unique population, maybe even much more marginalized than the LGB population historically. And so thereโ€™s just not as much known about that experience.

So then fast forward to today where weโ€™ve got conversion therapy bans, therapy bans that basically say, โ€œNo one can change. Your sexuality is determinative.โ€ Based on those perspectives, the belief that the dysphoria, like, for example, you could be born a female with a male brain, those kinds of perspectives, which are completely untrue, are being considered as possible.

And so weโ€™re in this interesting time where something new is happening. The psychological world, particularly the American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association, largely only affirms LGBT identity. They donโ€™t favor moving backward. There are a lot of reasons for that, in part because the experience is itself so distressing. But then on top of that, because of activism.

So young children today, the resources available are very limited. I can say that there is a very, very great need for American culture to step back and say, โ€œWhat are the ethics of affirming LGBT identity in a prepubescent child?โ€

And then understanding that sexual behavior for a prepubescent child, whether you perceive it to be same-sex sexuality like a gay behavior, or whether itโ€™s cross-gender behaviors, is signaling something thatโ€™s going wrong. Itโ€™s signaling a misperception about yourself, or a trauma response to some pressure thatโ€™s happening. And instead of resolving the trauma, weโ€™re medicalizing the trauma for what we perceive to be a trans-identifying child and never treating the psychological distress.

And so like Kathy Grace said, coming into this meeting, what weโ€™re facing isnโ€™t the development of a transgender movement as much as it is a mental health crisis that weโ€™re witnessing and weโ€™re completely ill-equipped to address because of our affinity for LGBT activism, just with the psychological world, our agreements in that realm, lack of understanding of the whole LGBT experience, and then lack of understanding of childhood development.

Duncan: I would just add to that by saying, coming out of that, when I was detransitioning, I didnโ€™t look at that I lived as a man or now that I need to live as a woman. Itโ€™s why I lived as a man that helped me to deconstruct that, if you will, and move forward into living as a woman. And realizing that itโ€™s not a sexual issue, itโ€™s relational issues. All the things that I worked back through was rejection, abandonment, and abuse, which are all relational issuesโ€”you know, broken relationships. And there was unmet needs that I was trying to get met by living as a man as well.

Allen: As you worked through that, the care that you were receiving, the counseling, would some of that now be illegal today in certain states like California?

Duncan: Yeah, it would be.

Allen: Kathy Grace, itโ€™s been about 25 years, right? Since you detransitioned?

Duncan: Thirty.

Allen: Thirty, OK. So as you work with detransitioners and folks who are wanting to come out of that lifestyle, what are some of the most common reasons that you hear from people as to why theyโ€™re making that choice of, โ€œNow I want to live according to my biological sexโ€?

Duncan: Well, thereโ€™s a few. I work with a lot of Christians, and they come out because theyโ€™ve encountered the Lord. Theyโ€™ve asked the Lord, or theyโ€™ve began to question, and so they take it to the Lord, โ€œI am not sure this is right,โ€ and the Lord affirms that.

I even had one detransitioner tell me, she was talking to the Lord saying, โ€œIโ€™m not sure. Do you want me to go back to being a woman? Should I still live as a man?โ€ And the Lord said to her, โ€œWell, what name do you want me to call you?โ€ And I was like, โ€œOh, thatโ€™s kind of powerful and convicting.โ€

And then thereโ€™s been those who Iโ€™ve talked to who do not know the Lord and theyโ€™ve come out because they have gone off of social media. Theyโ€™ve stopped TikTok, Reddit, Facebook. Theyโ€™ve stopped listening to the narrative. Once theyโ€™ve cleared their mind, theyโ€™re like, โ€œNo, I want to be a woman. I want to go back.โ€

Allen: Thatโ€™s powerful.

Duncan: Yeah, I was amazed by that. The thing thatโ€™s amazing to me too is when they get away from that narrative, they go back to how God designed them to be, whether they know it or not.

Allen: I want to encourage all of our listeners to visit your website, which is CHANGEDmovement.com. You can find the book there, so many powerful stories of lives that have been transformed, and learn more about the advocacy work that you-all are doing. So again, the website is CHANGEDmovement.com. But Kathy Grace, Elizabeth, thank you both so much for your time today.

Woning: Thank you very much.

Duncan: Youโ€™re very welcome.

Newsom Vetoes Bill Requiring California Parents to Affirm Kidsโ€™ โ€˜Gender Transitionsโ€™

California Gov.ย Gavin Newsom vetoed a state measureย on Friday that would have required parents to โ€œaffirm gender transitionsโ€ for their children or risk losing custody. State Democratsโ€™ bill, AB 957, cleared both theย Californiaย Senate and the Assembly along party lines two weeks earlier on Sept. 8. AB 957 would have added โ€œgender affirmationโ€โ€”a term California doesnโ€™t define or explainโ€”as an essential need of every child to California family law, along with โ€œhealth, safety, and welfare.โ€

Assembly member Lori Wilson, D-Suisun City, whose child identifies as transgender, wrote the bill and introduced it Feb. 14. State Sen. Scott Wiener, D-San Francisco, co-sponsored the measure.

The Daily Signal previously reported thatย Wiener successfully amended the billย June 6, altering AB 957 from requiring a judge to consider whether a child experiencing gender dysphoria was โ€œaffirmedโ€ by parents to making โ€œgender affirmationโ€ an essential need of a child in California. Violating the standard of โ€œhealth, safety, and welfareโ€ set for a child under the California Family Code can carry penalties under the California Penal Codeโ€”prompting parents, activists, and lawmakers to speculate that the new law could result in parents beingย charged with child abuse or neglectย for not participating in their childโ€™s transgenderism.

Parents, lawmakers, and activists said they were furious with Californiaโ€™s passing AB 957, and urged Newsom not to sign the bill.

Entrepreneur Elon Musk, a California resident, called AB 957 a โ€œwolf in sheepโ€™s clothingโ€ and โ€œutter madness.โ€  Musk, who owns X, the social media app formerly called Twitter, is the father of a child who claims to be transgender.

Nicole Pearson, founder of the Facts Law Truth Justice, a law firm and civil rights advocacy group, described the legislation as โ€œunconstitutional, unscientific, and cruelโ€ in an interview with The Daily Signal:

AB 957 is illegal, unconstitutional, unscientific, and cruel, and will not stand. It does not define โ€œaffirmation,โ€ rendering it impossibly vague for judges to apply and, thus, โ€œvoid for ambiguity.โ€

It violates parentsโ€™ and guardiansโ€™ fundamental and constitutionally protected First Amendment rights to speak freely, be free from compelled speech, and exercise their religion because they will be forced, for example, to say they will affirm or to not say that they wonโ€™t, or that they believe their child needs alternate care, even if they do not believe it, just to maintain custody.

Similarly, it will deprive them of their Fourteenth Amendment right to direct the care and upbringing of their children, which has been safeguardedโ€”without hesitationโ€”by the U.S. Supreme Court for over a century.

Many speculate that Newsom vetoed the bill because he is attempting to appear less extreme as a potential presidential candidate. Erin Friday, a California attorney and co-leader of Our Duty, a parental rights advocacy group, says Newsom โ€œonly vetoed the bill because he seeks higher office.โ€ While we celebrate the governor vetoing this horrendous bill, we know that the Governor did not veto it for the sake of protecting parents and children. He continues to assert that children who are struggling with gender issues should be transitioned.ย Newsom only vetoed the bill because he seeks higher office. Perhaps as the Governor fields the vitriolic outrage of the extreme left, it may dawn on him how unhinged those who want to force parents to either transition their gender-dysphoric kids or lose them.

Newsomย did sign SB 407, which would prevent โ€œLGBTQ foster youthโ€ from being placed in homes in which parents donโ€™t believe in LGBTQ+ ideology. In total, Newsom on Friday signed eight pro-LGBTQ+ bills, which dramatically increase Californiaโ€™s authority to require citizens to acquiesce to LGBTQ+ ideology.

Wiener criticized Newsomโ€™s AB 957 veto, calling it โ€œa tragedy for trans kids here & around the country.โ€ He also claimed that โ€œtrans kidsโ€ are living โ€œin fear,โ€ accusing โ€œright-wing politiciansโ€ of targeting and attempting to โ€œerase [trans kidsโ€™] humanity.โ€ Wiener provided no evidence to back up his accusations.

Wisconsin Forces Female Inmates To Live With Man Who Raped His 10-Year-Old Daughter

Mark Campbell is a registered sex offender convicted of first-degree sexual assault for raping his 10-year-old daughter, but thanks to the state of Wisconsin, he is nowย housedย in a womenโ€™s prison in Fond du Lac. Despite his biology and the heightened threat he poses to women based on the nature of his crime, the Wisconsin Department of Corrections allowed him to be categorized as โ€œFEMALE,โ€ and subsequently to be incarcerated with female inmates at Taycheedah Correctional Institution since August of 2022.

Campbell began serving his 34-year sentence in 2007 and has since beenย receivingย wrong-sex hormones and claiming to be a woman named Nicole. In 2013, he requested a surgical operation to mutilate his male sexual organs to appear more female and was initially declined for not meeting prerequisites.

In 2016, Campbell sued the Department of Corrections for not allowing him to undergo the procedure, claiming it was an Eighth Amendment violation. In 2019, the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that โ€œclearly established law did not require Wisconsin prison officials to provide Campbell with gender-dysphoria treatment beyond hormone therapy.โ€

But as of December 2020, โ€œa federal judge ruled that Wisconsin must offer Campbell taxpayer-funded transition surgery and move him to a womenโ€™s prison while awaiting that surgery,โ€ according toย reportingย from The Daily Signal.

In his ruling, U.S. District Judge James Peterson referred to Campbell by inaccurate female pronouns and argued the disfiguring genital surgery was necessary because Campbell was still โ€œin anguishโ€ thanks to his โ€œgender dysphoria,โ€ even after receiving experimental female hormones on Wisconsin taxpayersโ€™ dime. While he awaits the procedure, the convicted rapist continues to be housed with female inmates.

Campbellโ€™s status as a sex offender isnโ€™t unusual for male inmates with whom female prisoners are forced to live. According to The Daily Signalโ€™s reporting on Wisconsin data, 81 of the 161 male inmates who claim to be transgender have been convicted of โ€œsexual assault or sexual abuse.โ€

Nor is the trend of leftist localities housing dangerous men with female inmates to appease the pro-transgender agenda of the Democrat Party limited to Wisconsin. A California law passed in 2019 โ€œrequires men who say they are women to be housed in womenโ€™s prisons.โ€ In both the 116th and 117th Congress, House Democrats overwhelmingly voted for H.R. 5, which sought to bar so-called โ€œdiscriminationโ€ based on โ€œgender identityโ€ in federal institutions โ€” effectively demanding that men like Campbell be treated as women under the guise of โ€œequality.โ€

Dallas mayor leaves Democratic Party, switches to GOP: ‘American cities need Republicans’

The mayor of one of the largest cities in the U.S. announced in a Friday op-ed that he is leaving the Democratic Party and becoming a Republican.

In a Wall Street Journal op-ed with the headline “Americaโ€™s Cities Need Republicans, and Iโ€™m Becoming One,” Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson explains that he is leaving the Democratic Party because “the future of Americaโ€™s great urban centers depends on the willingness of the nationโ€™s mayors to champion law and order and practice fiscal conservatism.”

“Our cities desperately need the genuine commitment to these principles (as opposed to the inconsistent, poll-driven commitment of many Democrats) that has long been a defining characteristic of the GOP,” Johnson wrote.

“In other words, American cities need Republicans โ€” and Republicans need American cities,” he continued. “When my political hero Theodore Roosevelt was born, only 20% of Americans lived in urban areas. By the time he was elected president, that share had doubled to 40%. Today, it stands at 80%. As Americaโ€™s cities go, so goes America.”

Johnson has been a vocal supporter of police as other cities, including the Texas capitol of Austin, have moved to defund police departments in the wake of the George Floyd riots.

In February, Johnson posted a Fox News Digital article on social media outlining how Austin police officers are retiring in droves due to low morale resulting from defunding and encouraged those officers to move to Dallas and work there.

“When you have a mayor who supports the police not only in his words but his actions, you see what happens to crime in your city,” Austin Police Retired Officers Association Dennis Farris told Fox News Digital on Friday.

“Mayor Johnson has led from the front and it showed when he was re-elected without one single challenger โ€” thatโ€™s unheard of in a major U.S. city.”

Dallas saw a significant decrease in crime after Johnson took office in 2019. Johnson told Fox News Digital in 2021 he attributed that success to three things โ€” a strong police chief, having “a budget that reflects public safety being your city’s top priority” and ensuring thereโ€™s “community buy-in” for crime reduction.

Rep. Biggs Estimates 10M Illegal Migrants Under Biden

Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., estimated that 10 million illegal immigrants will have entered the country during the Biden administration.

“It’s actually gonna have to be necessary,” he said on the “Just the News, No Noise” television show in reference to former President Donald Trumpโ€™s vow to invoke the Alien Enemies Act should he win the 2024 presidential election.

“Because by the time Trump gets back in office, you will have had over 10 million, in my opinion, over 10 million illegal aliens cross our border and come into the country, under the Biden regime.”

More than 1,300 migrants cross the border into Arizona daily, according to U.S. government data obtained byย NBC News.

In a letter sent recently to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Biggs warned that Border Patrol may be undercounting the number of illegal immigrant โ€œgot-awaysโ€ at the southern border.

โ€œUnder current practice, U.S. Border Patrol agents report daily on the number of people they believe evaded apprehension,โ€ Biggs said in the letter. โ€œWhile those reports cannot be exact, agents typically provide a best guess based on visuals of escaping aliens, images of aliens captured on camera, or a ‘sign’ that aliens moved through an area.

โ€œHowever, when agents report groups of aliens that exceed 20, no matter the number above, the group is reported as ’20+’ and counted as 20. For years, sources have claimed this maximum category of 20+ has led to underreporting.

“Now, given the sheer volume of people entering the United States illegally, gotaway groups regularly exceed that number, leading to further underreporting. Gotaway aliens pose a significant threat to the safety of our communities and our national security.โ€

UAW Sings the Blues Because of the Greens

At stake in this strike is the financial power of the United Auto Workers union and the future of the Democratic Party as a representative of blue-collar workers. Pictured: Presidential candidate Joe Biden speaks Sept. 9, 2020, in a parking lot outside United Auto Workers offices in Warren, Michigan. (Photo: Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)

The big economic news at the end of last week was the start of a strike by the United Auto Workers union against all three major U.S. automakers. This is the first strike against President Joe Bidenโ€™s green agenda, pitting two parts of the traditional Democratic coalition against each otherโ€”the environmentalists against the blue-collar workers. Or simply the greens against the blues.

At stake is the financial power ofย the UAWย and the future of the Democratic Party as a representative of blue-collar workers. The greens and the blues generally have come together to elect a series of Democratic presidents.

Yes, there was a split over the Keystone XL pipeline, which the blues wanted for the jobs and the greens rejected because of the heavy crude that would be coming in from Canada. No matter that Biden then begged the Venezuelans to sell America a similar heavy crude, this time coming to U.S. refineries by tanker rather than pipeline.

This time, however, the green energy agenda is driving the UAW to strikeโ€”because banning the internal combustion engine is equivalent to banning auto jobs.

The UAW is singing the blues because of the greens. UAW President Shawn Fain has refused to endorse Biden for another term because of the presidentโ€™s insistence on following Californiaโ€™s lead by ending sales of new vehicles with internal combustion engines by 2035.

The blue-collar workers want their jobs, but the greens care more about trees. It doesnโ€™t help that inflation is up for the second month in a row, and American Airlines employees, West Coast dockworkers, and United Parcel Service employees all have gained pay raises of 30% to 40% over the next four years.

The UAW is demanding a 35% hike in pay and benefits over four years, moderating its initial request for a 45% hike. The union is asking for automatic cost-of-living adjustments just as in the 1970s and a four-day work week rather than a five-day one. The inflationary 1970s are calling Biden, and they want their benefits backโ€”with a post-pandemic four-day twist.

Ford Motor Co. President Bob Farley estimates that the industry will need 40% fewer workers to produce electric vehicles rather than gas-powered cars and light trucks. Thatโ€™s 200,000 fewer jobs in 2030 and 400,000 fewer jobs in the long run.

Dwindling jobs lead to dwindling income. Many of the new jobs in EVs and batteries with Inflation Reduction Act funding are being created in right-to-work states, where wages are lower and workers donโ€™t have to join a union as a condition of employment.

Other jobs are being created in China, which has a lock on a substantial share of minerals required for EV batteries, such as lithium, graphite, and cobalt. Mindful of the worldโ€™s concerns about Chinaโ€™s dominance in this area, Beijing is setting up factories in Indonesia to take advantage of minerals there, and the Chinese-built, high-speed rail across the country from Jakarta to Bandung opened this month.

This is why switching to electric vehicles is not only a major threat to the UAW and ithe unionโ€™s ability to negotiate higher wages for auto workers, but a mortal danger to the paycheck for Fain, as well as to the finances and political clout of the UAW.

Fain was elected UAW president in March. Financial disclosure forms showing his salary arenโ€™t currently available, but the unionโ€™s former president, Ray Curry, was paid $273,000 in 2021, according to UnionFacts.com, a nonprofit which compiles data from required Labor Department disclosure forms.

On the UAWโ€™s 2021 financial disclosure form, Fain was listed as an administrative assistant with total compensation of $156,000 annually. Thatโ€™s more than three times what the Bureau of Labor Statistics lists as an average salary for administrative assistants: $45,000.

The United Auto Workers has $1.2 billion in assets and 372,000 members, according to UnionFacts.com. The UAW Political Action Committee has donated $50 million to Democrats and $2 million to Republicans.

And thatโ€™s the rubโ€”despite the spending, the blue UAW canโ€™t protect its members against the green government that it elected. Electrification is leading not only to shrinking worker incomes but to a fundamental fracturing of the Democratic Party coalition.

That might be the most damaging part of the UAW strike.

Federal Court Chides Dem Activists: Thereโ€™s Nothing Racist About Election Integrity Laws Like Floridaโ€™s

Voter putting their ballot in voting machine in Columbia, MO

A full federal appeals court declined to take up Democrat groupsโ€™ challenge of Floridaโ€™s 2021 election integrity law on Thursday, marking a major win for Gov. Ron DeSantis and the GOP-controlled state legislature.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Thursdayโ€™s decision by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals โ€œlet stand an April ruling by a three-judge panel of the [court] that sided with the state on major issues in the case.โ€ The 11th Circuitโ€™s April decision effectively overturned a prior ruling issued by U.S. District Judge Mark Walker โ€” an Obama appointee โ€” who baselessly claimed the law in question discriminated against black voters.

โ€œWhat are the supposedly racist provisions that the district judge enjoined officials from enforcing?โ€ Chief Judge William Pryorย wroteย of the courtโ€™s Thursday decision. โ€œThey are unremarkable, race-neutral policies designed to bolster election security, maintain order at the polls and ensure that voter-registration forms are delivered on time.โ€

Signed into law in May 2021, SB 90 includes numerous provisionsย heavily supportedย by election integrity activists and American voters. According to aย DeSantis press release, the statute โ€œstrengthens existing voter ID laws, bans ballot harvesting, prohibits unsolicited mass mailing of ballots, increases election transparency, and prohibits private money from administering elections.โ€

In hisย March 2022 decision, Walker claimed that Florida lawmakers demonstrated โ€œintent to discriminate against Black votersโ€ and that the statute is โ€œthe stark result[] of a political system that, for well over a century, has overrepresented White Floridians and underrepresented Black and Latino Floridians.โ€ The majority of the 11th Circuitโ€™s three-judge panel disagreed,ย writingย in April that Walkerโ€™s allegations of โ€œintentional racial discrimination rest on both legal errors and clearly erroneous findings of fact.โ€

โ€œUnder our precedent, this history cannot support a finding of discriminatory intent in this case. Floridaโ€™s more recent history does not support a finding of discriminatory intent,โ€ Pryor wrote.

28 Republicans Reject Biden Administrationโ€™s Demands to Fund Indefinite Proxy War in Ukraine

Twenty-eight Republicans publicly vowed on Thursday to oppose the use of billions of American tax dollars to fund a proxy war in Ukraine. The rejection, sent in aย letterย to Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young, is a direct response to the Biden administrationโ€™s recent demand that Congress sendย $24 billionย more in American taxpayer-funded resources to Volodymyr Zelensky in an attempt to curb Vladimir Putin and his regime.

Sen. J.D. Vance, who spearheaded the letter, said Congress should not keep funding โ€œan indefinite conflictโ€ without more fact-based information about the war.

โ€œYesterday at a classified briefing over Ukraine, it became clear that America is being asked to fund an indefinite conflict with unlimited resources,โ€ Vance wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. โ€œEnough is enough. To these and future requests, my colleagues and I say: NO.โ€

More than half of the nation says Congress should stop financing Ukraine, a country plagued by corruption. Yet, President Joe Biden, his cabinet members, and even establishment Republicans like Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell have repeatedly pledged to support the war โ€œfor as long as it takes.โ€

Retiring Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley reportedly received aย โ€œstanding ovationโ€ย on Wednesday after he also swore that โ€œthe United States will continue to provide support to Ukraine for as long as it takes.โ€

โ€œMy tenure may be ending but the mission for this group continues until the end state of a free and sovereign Ukraine is attained,โ€ Milley said.

โ€œThese statements imply an open-ended commitment to supporting the war in Ukraine of an indeterminate nature, based on a strategy that is unclear, to achieve a goal yet to be articulated to the public or the Congress,โ€ the signees wrote.

The statements also lack any transparency about how the nationโ€™s previous aid was used.

In their letter, the Republicans note the whopping $114 billion total often used to measure U.S. funding for Ukraine โ€œdoes not reflect the full picture, which includes transferred and reprogrammed funds.โ€ They add that in all five of its โ€œsupplemental requestsโ€ for Ukraine funding to Congress, the Biden administration โ€œrequested additional authority to transfer and reprogram funds.โ€

โ€œThe vast majority of Congress remains unaware of how much the United States has spent to date in total on this conflict, information which is necessary for Congress to prudently exercise its appropriations power,โ€ the Republicans warn.

The ignorance is not due to a lack of curiosity from the Republicans behind the letter, who have made multiple inquiries over the last two years demanding more information. In January, Vance and three dozen other Republicans in Congress signed a letter to Young demanding a โ€œfull accountingโ€ of U.S. aid to Ukraine. Their requests went largely unaddressed.

โ€œIt is difficult to envision a benign explanation for this lack of clarity,โ€ the Republicans state.

As prime examples of the executive branchโ€™s reckless Ukraine spending spree, the GOPers highlighted the Department of Defenseโ€™s recent $6.2 billion Ukraine aid accounting error and the Biden administrationโ€™s $5 billion request for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, a number which exceeded 15 times what Congress allotted in the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act.

โ€œThe American people deserve to know what their money has gone to. How is the counteroffensive going? Are the Ukrainians any closer to victory than they were 6 months ago? What is our strategy, and what is the presidentโ€™s exit plan? What does the administration define
as victory in Ukraine?โ€ the GOPers ask.

To grant another round of Ukraine funding requests by the Biden administration without โ€œanswers to these questions,โ€ the GOP members declared, would be โ€œan absurd abdication of congressional responsibility.โ€

The 28 Republicans pledge to keep their purse strings closed until the Biden administration explains its funding frenzy to Congress and taxpayers.

Itโ€™s No Accident the Southern Border Is Collapsing, Itโ€™s Intentional

Southern Border

A clip of comedian Louis C.K. on the Joe Rogan show has been circulating on X (formerly Twitter) this week in which he goes on and on about how opening up the southern border would be a good thing because Americans shouldnโ€™t have such a high standard of living compared to the rest of the world, how poor people in other countries just want what Americans have, and how itโ€™s not fair that we have so much. โ€œIt shouldnโ€™t be so great here,โ€ he says. So, open the border and let them pour in.

Itโ€™s possible heโ€™s joking, that itโ€™s just a comedy bit heโ€™s practicing. Thatโ€™s what my friend Inez Stepman thinks. Get liberals to nod along in agreement and then expose the consequences of such an insane idea. You can judge for yourself:

I donโ€™t think it comes off as a joke but as an almost perfect distillation of globalist liberalism. Louis C.K. cannot fathom why Americans should have a say about who comes into their country and who does not. He clearly has no real allegiance to his country or countrymen, and is actually embarrassed by their prosperity โ€” and presumably his own as well.

There is nothing special about America, according to this view, and no reason the rest of the world should not enjoy her ill-gotten riches. Opening the border is the least we could do for the cause of justice.

Whether itโ€™s a joke or not, the substance of what Louis C.K. articulates is the logical endpoint of leftist ideology. Itโ€™s what the mainstream left actually believes โ€” and the Biden administration has been actively working to accomplish at the southern border.

This week, the border began collapsing completely in south Texas. Over five days, about 45,000 people illegally crossed the Rio Grande near the small town of Eagle Pass, Texas, population 28,000. In one especially active 24-hour period, nearly 10,000 people forded the river.

Customs and Border Protection shut down two international bridges to deal with the crisis. The mayor of Eagle Pass, Rolando Salinas, declared an emergency on Wednesday, it seems with good reason. He told The New York Post that the surge of illegal immigrants, most of them single adult men from Venezuela, has swamped the cityโ€™s only migrant shelter. Many of them, says Salinas, โ€œdonโ€™t want to listen to instructions.โ€ He added, โ€œNot all of them come in peace.โ€

Bill Melugin of Fox News has been in Eagle Pass this week posting jaw-dropping videos and images of the influx, which sure enough consists of mostly single adult men. The lines stretch over the river and along both banks as far as the eye can see. Whatever you think of the border and U.S. immigration policy, this is shocking.

All of it recalls the mass encampment of some 15,000 Haitians under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas, two years ago. At the time, images of what looked like a refugee camp you might see in a war-torn country dominated several news cycles, goading the Biden administration to disband the encampment and deport a small number of Haitians as a warning to others. Most of them fled back across the Rio Grande rather than face being deported to Haiti, a country they had left years ago for better jobs in South America (which countries they in turn left for better jobs in the United States).

But notice how the illegal immigrants in Meluginโ€™s footage are walking calmly, not running, not trying to evade Border Patrol. They show every indication they believe they will not be detained long.

And of course theyโ€™re right. Itโ€™s impossible for federal authorities to detain this many people arriving within such a short timeframe. There is simply nowhere to put them.

A soft-sided facility erected by Customs and Border Protection that could house about 2,000 quickly reached capacity early in the week, leaving federal officials little choice but to parole mass numbers of illegal immigrants and release them from custody on their own recognizance. They are now making their way to points all across the United States. The vast majority of them will stay for good.

This is not a mistake or a mishap, the unintended result of an ill-considered policy. This is intentional. Flooding the border with illegal immigrants is the actual policy.

When White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre repeats the talking point that President Biden has โ€œdone more than anyone elseโ€ to secure the border and deal with illegal immigration, as she did again last week, what she really means is that under Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, uncontrolled illegal immigration is not something federal officials are trying to stop, itโ€™s something theyโ€™re trying to facilitate and manage.

The numbers tell the tale. Nearly six million people have been arrested crossing into the United States illegally since Biden took office. Millions more have gotten in without being caught. About 200,000 are arrested every month. They are coming in such great numbers because they know that if they can get across the river theyโ€™ll be allowed to stay. Under Biden, there is almost no chance of being deported. Itโ€™s not more complicated than that.

That brings us back to Louis C.K.โ€™s comments and the ideology from which they spring. Deterring illegal immigration is a policy you pursue only if you believe foreign nationals do not automatically have a right to enter the United States simply because they want a better life. Borders are something you enforce only if you believe you have a duty to your fellow citizens and the nation at large to protect the country and safeguard its way of life.

Biden and Mayorkas and the ruling elite in this country do not believe these things. They believe a borderless world is better, that the United States does not belong to the American people, to whom they feel no particular allegiance.

To quote Louis C.K., they believe it shouldnโ€™t be so great here. And theyโ€™re determined to make it so.

Max Eden Op-ed: Books aren’t being banned at school. But Democrats, media do defend porn for kids in school libraries

The Senate Judiciary Committee recently held a hearing into so-called “book bans.” My message to Congress was simple: books arenโ€™t being banned, and itโ€™s good that they are.

For years now, the left has been having a field day crying foul over parents who are concerned about what theyโ€™re finding in school libraries. Democrat pollsters have convinced their clients that this is a winning issue, and President Joe Biden even featured it in his re-election launch video. But Republican Senator Kennedy and I demolished that narrative with one simple trick: we read the books out loud.

When Fox News played clips of Senator Kennedy, it had to bleep out so much of it that it sounded like an emergency broadcast message. I took no pleasure in (probably) being the first, and hopefully the last, to read words like “butt-plugs” and “strap-on dildos” into the Congressional Record. But if discussion of these items have no place in the U.S. Senate, then maybe they also have no place in public schools?

Amazingly, by the end of the hearing even the Democrat Senators seemed to agree. Senator Durbin, who called the hearing, insisted that no one supported having obscene or pornographic materials floating around in school libraries. So, it really should be case closed, then. Because thatโ€™s what this issue is truly all about.

Video

The Heritage Foundationโ€™s Jay Greene, Madison Marino, and I published a report closely examining so-called “book bans.” The term itself is deeply misleading, as the media has accepted the expansive definition of “ban” offered by PEN America, a leftwing advocacy organization. According to PEN, if a book is removed, reviewed, and then put back on the shelves, it has been “banned.” And if the school moves the book to a guidance counselorโ€™s office, or places a parental permission requirement on it, it has been “banned.” So, we set out to determine how many of PENโ€™s alleged 2,532 “banned” books were actually still available. The answer: about three fourths of them.

Donโ€™t believe it when the media tells you that “book banning” has anything to do with race. Parents have certainly objected to books dealing with race. For example, PEN America listed the Black Lives Matter-inspired The Hate U Give as the fifth-most banned book. But we found it available in every single school library in question. Parents might object, but school districts arenโ€™t obliging.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ORGANIZE WALKOUT TO PROTEST TRANS BATHROOM RULE

And donโ€™t believe it when the media tells you that “book banning” is all about LGBT issues. As the Washington Post documented, only seven percent of book challenges contained the term “LGBT” without also containing the term “sexual.” (Although those challenges may have contained terms like pornographic or obscene.) All of the top 10 most removed books contained extremely sexually explicit passages, and more than half regarding heterosexual relations.

Why are we even having this debate, then? Well, part of the answer is that the Democrats thought they had a winning rhetorical issue. “Book banning” certainly polls badly. And itโ€™s hard to argue against when the media wonโ€™t even allow you to say whatโ€™s actually in these books. So, you can understand the cynical calculus behind Democratic politicians lining up to effectively insist that anyone who objects to porn in school libraries is a bigot.

Video

But thereโ€™s actually something deeper and more intentional to it. Senator Mike Lee played a clip of Deborah Caldwell-Stone, the director of the American Library Associationโ€™s Office for Intellectual Freedom. Caldwell-Stone advocated for: “sustained messaging that reframes this issue, that takes it away from the idea that these are inappropriate for minors, or sexually inappropriate for minors, and promote them as diverse materials and programming that are about inclusion.”

Why reframe obscene material as “diverse” or “inclusive”? Because of a political agenda. Emily Drabinski, the head of the American Library Association, is a self-proclaimed “Marxist” who recently declared that “public education needs to be a site of socialist organizing [and] I think libraries really do too. โ€ฆ We need to be on the agenda of socialist organizing.”

A hundred years ago, Marxists pursued a strategy of leveraging sex education to break familial bonds and refashion society. It might sound too strange to say that something similar is going on today. And yet, Americaโ€™s most prominent sex education organization is literally named “SEICUS: Sex Ed for Social Change.”

Most parents would not embrace the notion that public employees should teach their children lessons about sex on behalf of political agendas. Indeed, most parents would not approve in general of public employees providing their children with sexually explicit material for any reason. And yet, Democrat politicians and the media have been running defense on behalf of porn in school libraries for their own partisan gain.

Maybe that will stop soon. But sadly, too many in public education are ideologically committed to the proposition that exposing kids to sexually explicit material is good because itโ€™s “inclusive.”

Sen. Graham to Newsmax: Venezuelan Work Permits Will Bring ‘Another Million’ to US

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told Newsmax on Thursday that the Biden administration offering work permits to almost half a million Venezuelans currently living in the United States will cause โ€œanother million to come.โ€

Graham told โ€œWake Up Americaโ€ that the United States has โ€œcompletely lost control of the southern border, and how smart do you have to be to figure out what will happen next if you give 470,000 Venezuelans work permits, youโ€™re going to get another million to come. People will be attracted by that move.โ€

He went on to say, โ€œIn the supplemental sent to Congress to help with emergencies, you know what the Biden administration did on border security? They defunded ICE, the enforcement part of immigration, they took money from ICE and weโ€™re going to put it into community shelters, which means more space for illegal immigrants.โ€

Graham said that the Biden administration has โ€œdone everything but take an ad out all over the world: Come to America, if you get here youโ€™ll never leave.โ€

He added, โ€œThese people are either incompetent or theyโ€™re doing it on purpose, and I think theyโ€™re doing it on purpose.โ€

Texas Governor Sends Troops for Border ‘Invasion’

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is sending Texas National Guard troops to the southern border to hold off what he declared in a letter to President Joe Biden to be an “invasion” of illegal migrants.

“I officially declared an invasion at our border because of Biden’s policies,” Abbott said in a post on the social media site X on Wednesday. “We deployed the Texas National Guard, Department of Public Safety, and local law enforcement. We are building a border wall, razor wire, and marine barriers. We are also repelling migrants.”

Abbott also accused federal border agents of cutting state installations of razor wire in Eagle Pass on Wednesday, allowing the illegal migrants access to the U.S. side of the border.

“Texas installed razor wire in Eagle Pass to stop illegal crossings. Today the Biden Admin CUT that wire, opening the floodgates to illegal immigrants,” Abbott wrote in a separate post Wednesday. “I immediately deployed more Texas National Guard to repel illegal crossings and install more razor wire.”

In a Nov. 16, 2022, letter to Biden, Abbott criticized the president for his inaction to stem the tide of illegal migrants flooding into Texas.

“Your inaction has led to catastrophic consequences,” the letter said. “Under your watch, America is suffering the highest volume of illegal immigration in the history of our country. This past year, more than 2 million immigrants tried to enter the country illegally, coming from more than 100 countries across the globe.”

Abbott said in the letter that due to Biden’s failures, the United Nations named the U.S.-Mexico border the “deadliest land crossing” in the world.

“Texans are paying the price for your failure,” the letter reads. “Ranches are being ripped apart, and homes are vulnerable to intrusion. Our border communities are regularly disrupted by human traffickers and bailouts. Deadly fentanyl is crossing the porous border to such a degree that it is now the leading cause of death for citizens between the ages of 18 and 45.”

Abbott’s move comes after installing razor wire and buoys in the Rio Grande River, which the Biden administration challenged in court as a violation of the Rivers and Harbors Appropriation Act, the Washington Examiner reported.

Democrat state Sen. Roland Gutierrez, who is running against Republican Sen. Ted Cruz for his Senate seat, posted Wednesday that the citizens in the area were “fighting back” against Abbott’s “inhumane” actions.

“The citizens and community of Eagle Pass are fighting back against the inhumane treatment of migrants under Operation Lone Star,” the post read. “Texans want real solutions to address border security and reform our broken immigration system. The days of Cruz’s negligence must come to an end.”

Garland Wonโ€™t Say If Youngkin Right to Pardon Father Charged After Protesting Daughterโ€™s Sexual Assault

Attorney General Merrick Garland declined to say Wednesday whether Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, a Republican, should have pardoned a father who was arrested in 2021 when he tried to defend his daughter during a local school board meeting.

Youngkinย pardonedย Scott Smith,ย who wasย arrestedย during a meeting of the Loudoun County School Board on June 22, 2021, where he intended to comment on the mishandling of his daughterโ€™s sexual assault in a school restroom the previous September.

U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, asked Garland whether Youngkin was correct to grant the pardon as he questioned the attorney general during a House Judiciary Committee hearing called โ€œOversight of the U.S. Department of Justice.โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t know the facts of the case, so Iโ€™m not in a position โ€ฆโ€ย Garland said, before being cut off by Roy.

In 2021, the National School Boards Association cited Smithโ€™s arrest in a letter to Garland. Shortly afterward, Garland issued anย Oct. 4, 2021,ย memoย calling on the FBI to โ€œuse its authorityโ€ against those who threaten public school officials. The 2021 sexual assault of Smithโ€™s daughter occurred inside a girlโ€™s bathroom at Stone Bridge High School by a male student who was wearing a skirt.

โ€œWe righted a wrong. He shouldโ€™ve never been prosecuted here,โ€ Youngkin said of Smith on โ€œFox News Sundayโ€ when announcing the pardon.

โ€œThis was a dad standing up for his daughter, and just to remind everyone, his daughter had been sexually assaulted in the bathroom of a school and no one was doing anything about it.โ€

โ€œUS military asks the public for help finding its missing F-35 fighter jet after its pilot had to eject while training over South Carolina.โ€

While the above Insider headline may sound like a comedic piece straight from the pages of The Babylon Bee, itโ€™s not. The U.S. military actually publicly claimed it had lost a multi-million-dollar fighter jet.

The loss occurred Sunday following an alleged โ€œmishapโ€ that required the aircraftโ€™s pilot to eject. The F-35 purportedly kept on flying. It wasnโ€™t until Monday evening โ€” a day after Joint Base Charleston requested the publicโ€™s assistance in finding the missing jet โ€” that military officials announced they had discovered a debris field โ€œabout two hours northeastโ€ of the base.

The debacle has since prompted the Marine Corpsโ€™ acting commandant, Eric Smith, to issue a โ€œtwo-day stand-downโ€ order for all military aviation units โ€œboth inside and outside of the United States.โ€

A Sign of Decline

  • This episode raises so many questions. For one, how does the U.S. military โ€” the supposed best and most advanced fighting force on the planet โ€” lose a highly-valued asset, especially over U.S. soil?
  • Why are military bases such as Joint Base Charlestonย acting as landing padsย for commercial planes transporting members of the Peopleโ€™s Republic of China โ€” the very government trying toย toppleย the United States as the worldโ€™s hegemon?

While itโ€™s improbable any of these questions will actually be answered to the publicโ€™s satisfaction, the likely answers probably wouldnโ€™t reverse Americansโ€™ waning confidence in the ability of U.S. military leadership to defend the American homeland. Nor should they.

This weekโ€™s fighter jet fiasco is just one example of many showcasing a U.S. military in severe institutional decline. Instead of focusing on how to win wars โ€” whichย shouldย be the sole purpose of any military โ€” top Pentagon brass have since at least the Clinton administration treated the service as one giant, left-wing social experiment.

Through its adoption and outright promotion of neo-Marxist ideologies including DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), the military has sacrificed efficiency, ruthlessness, and strength for LGBT celebrationsracial politics, and climate alarmism. A look into the backgrounds of President Bidenโ€™s many military nominees shows the primary focus of the Pentagonโ€™s leading figures isnโ€™t defeating communist China or protecting Americans from other international threats, itโ€™s crafting a โ€œdiverseโ€ and โ€œinclusiveโ€ social club where leftist lunacy is treated as gospel and conservative โ€œwrongthinkโ€ as extreme.

Look no further than the Pentagonโ€™s abortion policy, which violates U.S. law in using taxpayer money to pay for female military membersโ€™ travel expenses to kill their unborn child. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Democrats have baselessly claimed for months that Alabama Sen. Tommy Tubervilleโ€™s slow-walking of Bidenโ€™s military nominees in protest of the policy harms โ€œmilitary readiness.โ€

  • If thatโ€™s true, then why hasnโ€™t the Pentagon dropped its policy?
  • If โ€œreadinessโ€ is such a major concern, why did the militaryย fireย thousands of service members who chose not to get an experimental shot?
  • And why isnโ€™t Democrat Chuck Schumer usingย his powerย as Senate majority leader to approve Bidenโ€™s supposedly important nominees?

The reason, as tacitly admitted by the heads of the Army, Air Force, and Navy, is that taxpayer-funded abortions are a sacrament of the leftist religion so must be preserved at all costs. Coupled with decades of failed military adventurism and nation-building like that conducted in Afghanistan, itโ€™s no wonder the U.S. military is facing the worst recruiting crisis since shifting to an all-volunteer force in 1973.

A High Price to Pay

The Marxist hijacking of Americaโ€™s military isnโ€™t an accident; itโ€™s an intentional act contributing to the leftโ€™s greater plan to re-invent society. For the left, the military is just another piece on the American chessboard to coopt. Itโ€™s why the military so vigorously promotes Marxism and penalizes conservative beliefs: to dissuade the God and America-loving patriots who have largely staffed it for generations from joining or remaining in service.

As witnessed many times before, however, the leftist takeover of institutions has its costs. Only Americaโ€™s โ€œrainbowโ€ military could cost our country its security and well-being.

For decades, the U.S. military has prevented widespread global conflict, deterring aggression from hostile actors and maintaining peace through strength. If the worldโ€™s leading aggressors no longer view America as the dominant military power, where does that leave us? If the U.S. gets dragged into a war with a rival power, can we be confident our โ€œrainbowโ€ fighting force can get the job done? The withdrawal from Afghanistan and growing quagmire in Ukraine atop the failed war in Iraq and our militaryโ€™s distraction into identity politics donโ€™t bode well.

Much like the missing F-35, our nationโ€™s military is lost with no sense of direction or purpose, and those faithfully committed to the American cause are forced to bail out. Let us hope and pray for new military leadership before itโ€™s too late.

U.S. Attorney, now Special Counsel, David Weiss did not have full charging authority during the bulk of his federal investigation into Hunter Biden, Attorney General Merrick Garland slyly admitted in his testimony to the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

Garlandโ€™s confession contradicts his previous under-oath insistence that Weiss possessed all of the authority he needed to properly charge President Joe Bidenโ€™s youngest son with various tax and gun crimes, some of which extended to other jurisdictions.

โ€œYou said [Weiss] had complete authority but heโ€™d already been turned down. He wanted to bring an action in the District of Columbia and the U.S. attorney there said โ€˜no, you canโ€™t.โ€™ And then you go tell the United States Senate under oath that he has complete authority,โ€ Chairman Jim Jordan explained during the hearing.

โ€œNo one had the authority to turn him down,โ€ Garland claimed. One second later, Garland divulged that those U.S. attorneys in fact โ€œcould refuse to partner with him.โ€

Even after acknowledging Weissโ€™s attempts to charge Hunter were hampered by a U.S. attorney acting on behalf of the DOJ, Garlandย doubled down on his claimsย that the attorney โ€œhas full authority to conduct his investigation however he wishes.โ€ He repeatedly invoked Weissโ€™s position as a Donald Trump appointee as proof that he was acting independently of the AG.

Despite the potential penalty of perjury, Garland claimed during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on March 1, 2023, that โ€œthe U.S. Attorney in Delaware has been advised that he has full authority โ€ฆ to bring cases in other jurisdictions if he feels itโ€™s necessary.โ€

In a June 7 letter to Jordan, Weiss appeared to confirm that โ€œI have been granted ultimate authority over this matter, including responsibility for deciding where, when, and whether to file charges.โ€ In a subsequent June 30 letter, however, Weiss reversed his claim and declared that his charging authority โ€œis geographically limited to my home district.โ€

Weissโ€™s June 30 clarification is consistent with testimony from IRS whistleblowers, including email documentation they recorded in 2022, and testimony fromย FBI agents. During the hearing, Garland attempted to discredit the agentsโ€™ attestations that the DOJโ€™s โ€œcumbersome bureaucratic processโ€ made it difficult for Weiss to charge Hunter by claiming โ€œtheir description of the process as cumbersome is an opinion, not a fact.โ€ He also claimed that Weissโ€™s letters โ€œreflect that he had never asked me to be special counsel and that he understood the process for asking for a signature on a Section 515 form,โ€ the form which Garland needed to sign for Weiss to prosecute outside of Delaware.

Weissโ€™s lack of jurisdiction was further confirmed in August when Garland named Weiss special counsel, an authority that allows the prosecutor to charge Hunter outside of Delaware. If Weiss truly did possess full autonomy in the Hunter case, as Garland dubiously declared on numerous occasions, he wouldnโ€™t have needed the special counsel appointment to prosecute the presidentโ€™s son. Garland still claimed he had made it clear that Weiss could bring a case in any jurisdiction with the attorney generalโ€™s blessing via a Section 515 form.

For most of the hearing, Garland tried to appear as a hands-off department head who let Weiss independently conduct his investigation. Republicans quickly saw through that facade when Garland immediately refused to disclose whether he had communications with Weiss about Hunterโ€™s case.

He also claimed could not โ€œrecollectโ€ whether he discussed the investigation with anyone at the FBI.

โ€œThere is no question that he can answer whether such conversations occurred,โ€ legal scholar Jonathan Turley noted on X, formerly known as Twitter. โ€œWhen Bill Barr testified as Attorney General he confirmed subjects even in communications with the President while declining details on conversations.โ€

Joe Biden Claims, โ€˜Democracy Is at Stakeโ€™ as His Party Does Everything to Prevent Democracy from Happening.

Joe Biden

Now that one of the 2 million Democrat prosecutors chasing Donald Trump has filed a court motion to make it illegal for him to talk about the election, is it okay to laugh anytime Joe Biden frames 2024 as a referendum on โ€œdemocracyโ€?

Monday night would have been a good time to exercise that rule. Speaking at a fundraising event on Broadway, the presidentย toldย โ€œFOLKS!โ€ in attendance that heโ€™s running for reelection because โ€œdemocracy is at stakeโ€ and โ€œon the ballot once again.โ€

Itโ€™s gotten so corny, and yet if there werenโ€™t pollsters, consultants, and all of the media telling every Democrat in the country that itโ€™s a line that works for their voters, he wouldnโ€™t be saying it.

Yet, itโ€™s Democrats who come up with a new way to shut down the few remaining options and avenues the American public has to express their opinions and choices on virtually everything. They do it on the daily. Just last week, Special Counsel Jack Smith requested that a federal judge in Washington, D.C., place a gag order that would prevent Trump from disparaging Smithโ€™s Jan. 6-related case against him, even in political terms.

โ€œ[T]he defendant has repeatedly and widely disseminated public statements attacking the citizens of the District of Columbia, the Court, prosecutors, and prospective witnesses,โ€ Smith wrote inย the filing. โ€œThrough his statements, the defendant threatens to undermine the integrity of these proceedings and prejudice the jury poolโ€ฆโ€

He asserted that Trump has a โ€œhistory of inflammatory and misleading statementsโ€ that โ€œwould cause others to harass and harm perceived critics or adversaries.โ€ One of those supposedly dangerous statements was a social media post wherein Trump said, โ€œJoe Biden directed his Attorney General to prosecute his rival. This is not an independent Justice Department, this is not an independent special counsel. This is being directed by the Commander-in-Chief.โ€

Smith said that remark was made โ€œwithout any basis,โ€ even as none other than the New York Times wroteย in Aprilย last year for its millions of readers โ€”ย does Jack Smith have a subscription? โ€”ย that Biden has told his associates he wants indictments against his predecessor and that he wanted his attorney general โ€œto act less like a ponderous judge and more like a prosecutor who is willing to take decisive action over the events of Jan. 6.โ€

It wouldnโ€™t be until seven months later that Trump would launch his own reelection campaign, but everyone knew he was going to do it, and everyone knew that when he did, he would instantly become the frontrunner for the Republican nomination.

Thatโ€™s the context dismissed by Jack Smith as โ€œwithout any basis.โ€

The motion comes just a month after the judge in the case, Tanya Chutkan, has already sided with Smith on a similar motion regarding โ€œinflammatory statements.โ€ She said there were limits to what Trump could say โ€œwhether it will affect a political campaign on either side.โ€ In essence: Even if Trumpโ€™s campaign is partly or wholly about the case against him, he canโ€™t talk about it.

When Democrats arenโ€™t limiting what Trump can talk about in a national election, theyโ€™re trying to get his name removed from state ballots. When theyโ€™re not doing that, theyโ€™re suppressing what their dissenters can say on the Internet. When theyโ€™re not doing that, theyโ€™re trying to shrink the Internet by icing out would-be customers from renting space.

If you donโ€™t agree with Democrats on anything, what are you supposed to do? Where are you supposed to go?

Democracy really is at stake. Biden and his party are working to eliminate it as an option altogether.

On Friday, the House Judiciary Committee subpoenaed Elvis Chan, the lead FBI agent involved in mass social media censorship, to appear for a September 21, 2023 deposition. Last weekโ€™s subpoena followed Chanโ€™s failure to appear for a scheduled voluntary interview to face questioning about the federal governmentโ€™s role in burying the Hunter Biden laptop story in the month before the 2020 election.

While that scandal is much bigger than Chan, he is first in line to untangling the truth about how the government interfered in the 2020 election by running an info op to convince voters the Hunter Bidenโ€™s laptop was Russian disinformation. Given Chanโ€™s testimony in the civil lawsuit brought by Missouri and Louisiana and several individual plaintiffs in Missouri v. Biden, as well as since-uncovered documents from Facebook, the importance of questioning Chan cannot be overstated.

What Chan Said

In Missouri v. Biden, the plaintiffs sued the Biden administration and numerous agencies and government officials, including the FBI and Chan. They alleged the federal defendants violated the First Amendment by, among other things, coercing and significantly encouraging โ€œsocial-media platforms to censor disfavored [speech].โ€ After filing suit, the plaintiffs filed a motion for a preliminary injunction and then obtained an order allowing for expedited discovery.

Since then, the district court has entered a preliminary injunction barring several federal agencies from coercing tech giants into censoring speech. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals narrowed the injunction but upheld many of the lower courtโ€™s legal conclusions. The Supreme Court is currently considering the Biden administrationโ€™s motion for a stay of the injunction.

What matters to the Houseโ€™s subpoena of Chan is what the expedited discovery in Missouri v. Biden uncovered. It included the plaintiffsโ€™ deposition of Chan. In his deposition, Chan testified he was one of the โ€œprimaryโ€ FBI agents who communicated with social media companies about so-called โ€œdisinformation.โ€

Specifically, โ€œDuring the 2020 election cycle, Chan coordinated meetings between the FBIโ€™s Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF) and at least seven of the major tech giants, including Meta/Facebook, Twitter, Google/YouTube, Yahoo!/Verizon Media, and Microsoft/LinkedIn,โ€ with meetings occurring weekly as the election neared.

In questioning Chan, the plaintiffsโ€™ attorneys pushed him on several points related to the censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop, forcing Chan to acknowledge the FBI regularly raised the possibility of โ€œhack and dumpโ€ operations with senior officials at the various tech companies. Those discussions included the FBI warning of a potential hack-and-leak occurring in advance of the 2020 election, much like the Democratic National Committee (DNC) hack and WikiLeaks release of internal emails.

Attorneys for the plaintiffs also quizzed Chan on the identity of the government officials who discussed โ€œhack-and-dump Russian operationsโ€ with the tech giants. Chan identified Section Chief Laura Dehmlow, along with four FBI officials who attended Department of Homeland Security Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) meetings. Chan named Brady Olson, William Cone, Judy Chock, and Luke Giannini as some of the individuals who had discussed the supposedly impending hack-and-leak operation. Chan claimed not to recall, though, whether anyone within the FBI suggested he raise the possibility of Russian hack-and-dump operations with the tech giants.

That Chan and others warned big tech of the potential for a pre-election hack-and-dump operation is huge. As Chan also testified, the government had no specific intelligence suggesting there were plans for such an operation. Nonetheless, the warnings prompted Twitter and Facebook to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story following The New York Postโ€™s story breaking.

FBI Played Social Media Companies

While the government had no reason to believe a hack-and-leak operation was in the works, several of the FBI agents involved in warning the social media companies knew Hunter Biden had abandoned his laptop at a computer repair store and that the material on the laptop was genuine. That includes Chan, Demhlow, and at least three other individuals connected to the FBIโ€™s FITF.

Chan did not reveal these details in his Missouri v. Biden deposition. Instead, Dehmlow informed the House of these facts during her deposition. Among other things, Dehmlow testified that soon after The New York Post broke the Biden laptop story, somebody from Twitter asked the FBI whether the laptop was real. An analyst in the FBIโ€™s Criminal Investigative Division confirmed, โ€œYes, it was.โ€™โ€ An FBI lawyer on the call then immediately interjected, โ€œNo further comment.โ€

Dehmlow further testified that several individuals on the FBIโ€™s FITF knew the laptop was real, including then-FITF Section Chief Brad Benavides and the unit chief. Dehmlow then confirmed that after the call with Twitter, the FBI had internal deliberations about the laptop and that later when Facebook asked about the authenticity of the laptop, Dehmlow responded, โ€œNo comment.โ€

During his deposition in the Missouri v. Biden case, Chan confirmed Dehmlowโ€™s representation that in response to the Facebook inquiry, she had replied, โ€œNo comment.โ€ Chan, however, then claimed he was not aware of any other inquiries from social media companies concerning the Hunter Biden laptop.

Was Chan Telling the Truth?

Last month, House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan revealed his committee had obtained internal documents from Facebook that call into question Chanโ€™s testimony. โ€œI spoke with SSA Elvis Chan (FBI San Francisco) on 15 October 2020, as a follow up to the call with the Foreign Influence Task Force on 14 October,โ€ one Facebook document read, contradicting Chanโ€™s claim that he knew of no other inquiries from social media companies.

โ€œI asked SSA Chan whether there was any update or change. . . as to whether the FBI saw any evidence suggesting foreign sponsorship or direction of the leak of information related to Hunter Biden as published in the New York Post story,โ€ Facebookโ€™s memorandum continued. According to Facebookโ€™s internal document, Chan stated โ€œthat he was up to speed on the current state of the matter within the FBI and that there was no current evidence to suggest any foreign connection or direction of the leak.โ€ Chan further assured Facebook โ€œthat the FBI would be in contact if any additional information on this was developed through further investigation.โ€

Chanโ€™s claim to Facebook that he was โ€œup to speed on the current state of the matterโ€ also seemingly conflicted with Chanโ€™s testimony in theย Missouri v. Bidenย case that he had โ€œno internal knowledge of that investigation,โ€ and โ€œthat it was brought up after the news story had broke.โ€ It is also difficult to reconcile Chanโ€™s claim โ€” that the laptop was only brought up after the Post ran the story โ€” with Dehmlowโ€™s testimony that several individuals on the FITF knew the laptop was real, including an FBI analyst.

What the House Should Ask Chan

The House should explore these inconsistencies with Chan and further quiz him on both Dehmlowโ€™s testimony and the Facebook documents. Chan should also be quizzed on with whom else he discussed the potential for a hack-and-leak operation.

We know from Chanโ€™s Missouri v. Biden deposition that he had served as the supervisor for the Russia-adept cyber squad that investigated the DNC server hack before the San Francisco office handed it to FBI headquarters. Chan testified in that deposition that he would have discussed national security cyber-investigations involving Russian matters with Sean Newell, a deputy chief at the DOJ National Security Division who had also worked on the DNC hack. Chan should be pushed further on whether Newell or anyone else who worked on the DNC hack had raised the issue of a 2020 hack-and-release repeat.

If so, the question then becomes whether they knew of the existence and authenticity of the Biden laptop. That question proves significant because it appears the hack-and-leak narrative was peddled to the social media companies to prime them to censor the laptop story. So, knowing who knew the laptop story was accurate but still fed the hack-and-leak hysteria will point to the players responsible for interfering in the 2020 election by silencing the truthful reporting of the Hunter Biden laptop story.

Chan may refuse to testify, however, even pursuant to a subpoena, or the Department of Justice may direct Chan not to submit to congressional questioning, forcing Republicans to enforce the subpoena in court. Weโ€™ll know tomorrow if either scenario plays out or if Chan comes clean with what he knows.

Carol Roth Op-ed: While you struggle with inflation, smug elites say, ‘Let them eat cake!’

The August CPI numbers were even hotter than the economic consensus expected (up 0.6% for the month, the biggest monthly increase of the year), showing inflation to be a persistent issue for Americans.

Regardless of the reported figures, which we know have been manipulated formulaically several times since the 1980s,ย Americans are strugglingย with food, housing, gas and other energy costs, and the general cost of living. The concerns are real and they are valid โ€“ perhaps except to those who run in elite circles. From Nobel Prize-winning economists to college professors pulling down six-figure salaries, while you grapple with the price of groceries, they say, “Let them eat cake.” Americans are struggling with food, housing, gas and other energy costs, and the general cost of living.ย (istock)

Take New York Times economist Paul Krugman. He has been flummoxed by the average Americanโ€™s response to inflation. Looking through his academic lens, he has been posting on social media about his apparent confusion on why voters arenโ€™t absolutely thrilled with the economy.

INFLATION ACCELERATED IN AUGUST TO 3.7% AS CONSUMER PRICES HEAT UP AGAIN

One such thread on X (formerly Twitter) included the following, “Many people trying to explain away voters’ perception that inflation is rising amid a historic decline by saying that people are actually talking about the level of prices, not the rate of changeโ€ฆ it’s possible that voters are less sophisticated than they were 40 years ago; or maybe they live in an information environment that feeds false perceptions.”

Looking through the lens of the people trying to pay their bills is apparently out of his grasp. In his eyes, and the eyes of the elite, your sophistication level is the problem.

Video

The analogy that I have used before relates to weight. Imaging that you have had relatively steady body weight over time. Then, one year you gain 10 pounds. The following year you gain 3.5 pounds. In Paul Krugmanโ€™s world, you should be thrilled because the growth in your weight gain has slowed! In your reality, you are up 13.5 pounds and canโ€™t fit in your pants anymore. Even if you gain two pounds the next year and settle in at two pounds per year, you will soon end up obese. Krugman wants to know why you arenโ€™t celebrating this.ย

Other smug academics and pundits have also tried to use cherry-picked charts and statistics to thumb their noses at the Americans who they believe are too stupid to assess their own economic reality.

Video

Americans have experienced inflation that hasnโ€™t been seen in four decades. This, which has occurred as a direct result from a combination of monetary, fiscal and other government policies, has had an enormous impact on families around the country, particularly as wages havenโ€™t been able to keep pace during this period.

TOP WH ENERGY ADVISER’S PREDICTION COMES BACK TO HAUNT AS GAS, OIL PRICES SKYROCKET

Credit card balances have surpassed the historic $1 trillion level. The personal saving rate has fallen to 3.5% as of July, a rate well below historical averages. Credit card and auto loan defaults have reached levels not seen in a decade. More wealth is getting consolidated in the hands of the wealthiest.

So, while the wealthy (and the government) may be propping up the average economic numbers, for most Americans, inflation has been a substantial financial burden to bear.

Video

It used to be that those elite would at least acknowledge this. Back in 2008, when Fed Chair Ben Bernanke testified in front of the House Financial Services committee, Congressman Ron Paul said inflation was a tax. Bernanke himself agreed, repeating that inflation was a tax.

Now the economists, academics and media are fully entrenched in the elite inner circle. These are the same people who said just a couple of years ago that there would be no inflation, low inflation was the actual problem, then that inflation would be transitory, then that inflation was good for you and so on.

Their lack of empathy for the average American shouldnโ€™t be a surprise, but it is the kind of attitude known to beget revolutions.

Video

Today, while you deal with a real financial issue caused by entities that get no blame, you are also called the equivalent of stupid in the process by their hype-men.ย Theย Federal Reserve and the governmentย have worked together to legally plunder your wealth. They have extracted wealth from Main Street and transferred it to Wall Street. They have put your American Dream at risk, they have not acknowledged their mistakes and they have no plans to address any of the foundational issues, from bad energy policy to outrageous debts and deficits, that would fix our foundational economic issues over the long term.

I have said many times that Fed and government policy have been the biggest drivers of non-merit based inequality. Legendary investor Stan Druckenmiller has taken that a step further. It was reported that Druckenmiller said in a 2021 speech, “I donโ€™t think there has been any greater engine of inequality than the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States the last 11 years.”

Video

Even 10 years ago, he warned that the Fedโ€™s QE policy “is the biggest redistribution of wealth from the middle class and the poor to the rich ever.” The wealthy have gotten wealthier and the rest of America has gotten screwed over, and then the elite continue to kick them while they are down.

When the people who are struggling to afford their daily “bread” are told the equivalent of “Let them eat cake,” itโ€™s a signal that major change is needed. Letโ€™s hope we get that change soon and peacefully.
