Pastors may want to pay attention to Becket appeal

Reported by Chris Woodward (OneNewsNow.com) | Monday, October 22, 2018

gavel with Bible 2You may not live near Chicago but your church could be impacted by a case being heard this week in the Windy City.

The case is Gaylor v. Mnuchin, and arguments are set for Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Brought by atheist group Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), the case argues that pastors should not be able to receive tax-free housing allowances as part of their job, as it “provides preferential and discriminatory tax benefits to ministers of the gospel.”

The atheists have won at the federal district court level but now Becket, a religious liberty law firm representing a Chicago pastor, appealed that ruling to the Seventh Circuit.

“This case represents a tremendous practical challenge to churches and to other houses of faith,” says Becket attorney Joe Davis. “This is a challenge to a very old tax provision that’s used by most pastors, most imams, most rabbis, in order to live in the areas where they serve. And if the plaintiffs’ lawsuit succeeds, it’ll impose about a billion dollars of new taxes on houses of worship in this country.”

Speaking of pastors, imams and rabbis, friend-of-the-court briefs have been filed from various faith groups including Muslims, Jews, and Hindus, Davis tells OneNewsNow.

Some members of Congress filed a brief in favor of religious leaders having housing allowances, something that business leaders, teachers and military service members also enjoy.

“Hundreds of thousands of non-religious employees get to use provisions very similar to this in order to live in the place that they work, and so this provision that’s being challenged here just makes that same thing available to pastors,” Davis continues. “This is about an atheist trying to raise taxes on ministers.”

Scalise: It’s notable what Left is being silent about

Reported by Steve Jordahl (OneNewsNow.com) | Monday, October 22, 2018

Maxine Waters rally June 2018A congressman who survived an assassination attempt a little more than a year ago says it’s time to tone down the violent rhetoric in the current political discourse – and it needs to come from one particular side of the aisle.

Last week two Republicans running for office in Minnesota were attacked while out in public. State Representative Sarah Anderson, who is running for reelection, was punched in the arm when she confronted someone destroying her yard signs; and Shane Mekeland, a House candidate for District 15B, was sucker-punched in the face while talking to potential voters in a restaurant. And on Friday night, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and his wife, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, were accosted by protesters at a restaurant in Nashville, one of whom reportedly “slammed his fists down” on their table.

U.S. Congressman Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana) says Democratic leaders need to put a stop to it.

Rep. Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana)“I would like to see leaders on both sides calling it out,” he told Fox News. “You’re seeing leaders on the Right calling it out, [but] you’re not seeing any leaders on the Left calling it out. In fact, you’re seeing some of the leaders on the Left inciting more violence.”

He’s referring to a few recent public statements by leading Democrats:

  • “Michelle [Obama] says when they go low, we go high. No – when they go low, we kick them.” (Former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, October 10, 2018)
  • “You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about.” (Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, October 9, 2018)
  • “You get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.” (California Congresswoman Maxine Waters, June 23, 2018) (pictured above)

Perhaps the stage was set years earlier by a Democratic presidential candidate who in 2008 jokingly said of his political opponents:

  • “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.” (Barack Obama)

Scalise said “there’s no place” for this type of rhetoric in politics, yet “more and more of this [is coming] from the Left.” He added: “When you see these kinds of things being said, it is inciting people – and frankly it’s not the direction that we should be going.”

He should know – that shooting at a baseball field in June 2017 by a Bernie Sanders supporter almost took Scalise’s life.

UN can play role in stopping U.S.-bound caravan

Honduran caravanThe caravan of migrants currently traveling through Mexico on its way to the United States is a job for the United Nations, says the spokesman for a pro-border enforcement organization.

Mexico’s government has reportedly called on the United Nations to help with the 7,000-plus wave of Hondurans, whose numbers have nearly tripled as the group broke through border gates to enter Mexico over the weekend.

The group began with about 2,000 in the town of San Pedro Sula, Yahoo News reported.

Mehlman

Ira Mehlman, a spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, or FAIR, says the UN High Commissioner for Refugees is well-suited to deal with the Hondurans who left their country determined to enter the U.S.

“If the people are legitimately fleeing persecution,” he tells OneNewsNow, “then the UNHCR can hear their cases and make some kind of determination before they reach some third country.”

"USA Border" signPresident Donald Trump has vowed to stop the migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border, threatening to cut off aid to the Central American countries that have failed to stop the illegal migration.

Late last week, Trump threatened to scrap the new U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade deal if Mexico failed to stop the caravan and, soon afterward, Mexico’s foreign affairs secretary made a personal request to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, The Washington Times reported.

It appears, the news story stated, that Mexico is seeking UN help to evaluate migrants “worthy of protection” from those who are “traditional illegal immigrants.”

Mehlman says the United Nations, for once, can play a “constructive role” in this border-crossing crisis.

Facebook Just Silenced Political Speech In America. And No One Seems To Care.

Reported By Shaun Hair and Randy DeSoto | October 19, 2018 at 2:07pm

Matt has operated his small digital publishing business since 2015. He spends his mornings like most business proprietors: After waking up, he reviews his numbers and checks messages to ensure his livelihood is running smoothly and as expected. It’s undoubtedly a more peaceful existence than Matt’s years in Army intelligence. His time in the military left him disabled, so his ability to work at least part of the time from his computer is a blessing.

It’s a good day for Matt when numbers are up and messages are down. As is usually the case for young entrepreneurs, no news is good news, because that means there are no fires to put out. But on October 11, Matt woke to the fire of his nightmares.

Matt is an online publisher. His business depends on his ability to drive page views to his website. Like many in the mid 2010s, Matt found Facebook to be good place to share articles and keep people coming back day after day. In those early days, growing Facebook pages was much easier. And getting more people to follow his Facebook page meant more people would see his articles.

Matt uses his website to tell stories about the thing that is most important to him — American politics. And his rise in online popularity proved he was not alone in his views. His activism mixed with his tough guy persona — “Do I look like a snowflake?” is his slogan on Twitter where he goes by “Matt Mountain” — resonated with many on Facebook. By last week, Matt had amassed an impressive 1.8 million Facebook followers on his pages.

But in a moment and without warning, Facebook took them all away.

On this fall morning, as Matt began his early-morning check of his site, he was greeted with a notification from his Facebook app that read simply, “account disabled.” He was obviously worried, so he immediately called his wife, who helps run the site, and asked her if she could access her Facebook account. She could not.

Facebook had unpublished all of Matt’s pages. Every page was inaccessible — effectively wiped from existence. The 1.8 million followers Matt had worked to connect with were no longer a click away. The 1.8 million followers who over the last three years had chosen to follow Matt’s site could no longer read the stories they loved or comment on the page with their friends about what mattered to them.

Matt checked his records. He had received nothing from Facebook. No warning. No deadline. No ultimatum. With two simple words, many years and countless hours of Matt’s work were forever wiped from Facebook.

While Matt was scrambling to figure out what had happened, Facebook was announcing through a blog post that it had removed over 559 political pages and 251 accounts in a clampdown on what the company calls “inauthentic behavior” in the lead-up to the U.S midterm elections.

“Many were using fake accounts or multiple accounts with the same names and posted massive amounts of content across a network of Groups and Pages to drive traffic to their websites. Many used the same techniques to make their content appear more popular on Facebook than it really was,” wrote Nathaniel Gleicher, Facebook’s head of cybersecurity policy, and product manager Oscar Rodriguez.

Facebook’s pre-midterm purge included pages and accounts that Facebook described as “ad farms” that used the platform to earn money and “to mislead others about who they are, and what they are doing,” rather than engage in “legitimate political debate.”

It appears that Facebook had strategically briefed The New York Times and The Washington Post ahead of the removals, given that within minutes of Facebook’s announcement, both papers published lengthy pieces describing the purge that included screenshots of the pages, something that could only have been obtained before the pages were removed.

After the purge, Facebook provided media outlets with only the same few examples: The Resistance, Reasonable People Unite, Reverb Press, Nation in Distress and Snowflakes. Four of these pages were liberal, while one was conservative. When asked for a complete list of pages, Facebook has repeatedly refused to release it. Even knowing the names of these five pages, journalists visiting the page are greeted with a message “Sorry, content isn’t available right now,” with no ability to see the page, previously posted content or examples of alleged “spam” actions.

Facebook claims the purged pages fell on both sides of the political spectrum, and originally declined to say if there were more pages on the right or the left, but a Facebook spokesperson later told Axios that “the takedowns may have impacted more right-leaning hyper-partisan Pages.”

Because Facebook has refused to release a full list of the affected pages or any proof of alleged “spam” activity, The Western Journal has attempted to track down as many of the purged pages as possible.

Starting with the sparse list of pages that Facebook chose to release to media outlets and pages mentioned by individuals on social media, The Western Journal searched on Google which domains were most often shared by those pages. The Western Journal then found other sites with common Adsense and Google Analytics accounts. These domains were then searched on on Google’s cache of Facebook to locate pages that shared links from that site. Pages which showed the message “Sorry, content isn’t available right now,” a sign that the pages had been unpublished, rather than completely deleted, were added to The Western Journal’s list.

That list of pages confirmed as having been taken down by Facebook is now totaling 220. Of the 220 pages uncovered by The Western Journal, 67 percent are conservative or pro-Trump pages, 22 percent are libertarian or non-aligned, and 11 percent are liberal or anti-Trump pages.

Additionally, among the 147 conservative pages taken down, 26 specifically mention President Donald Trump or related topics like “MAGA,” “deplorables” or first lady Melania Trump.

Brian Kolfage, who ran Right Wing News’ Facebook page, sees the company’s purge of political sites as part of a “war on conservatives and a war on Trump.”

“It’s not by mistake, this happened weeks before the midterms,” contends the Air Force veteran, who was severely wounded while serving in Iraq.

“People are being punished for their simple beliefs — beliefs of freedom, beliefs of religion, beliefs on anything that differs from that status quo. If you have an alternate view, you’re attacked — physically, financially and socially,” he says.

“Now, it’s me, my family, and my young children in the line of fire,” Kolfage adds. “This isn’t the right to free speech I gave my legs and arm to defend. Three limbs wasn’t enough for some … now my livelihood is gone with it.”

Kolfage tells The Western Journal that he was in regular contact with Facebook, but was not told his page was out of compliance with the company’s rules before the purge.

Kurt Von Arnold, whose page IPhoneConservative (70,000 likes) was also a casualty of the purge, explained to The Western Journal that when he consulted with fellow page owners, a common thread emerged about Facebook’s actions.

“In the lead up to this coordinated removal of conservative pages, going back months before, all of us were required to verify our accounts and locations,” says Von Arnold. “This involved, under their direction, logging out of our accounts and then re-logging in using a code they provided, for each device used to access their platform.”

Von Arnold argues this drill was really a “Trojan Horse” to allow Facebook both to efficiently take down their sites and to prevent them from starting new ones from any of their known devices. He recounted that after his page was taken down Thursday, he published a new one.

“Within a few hours I had a couple of hundred page likes and though the loss of my 70k audience that I had built up over 10 years organically, never paying for boosts or spamming or ad-farming or any of the other tactics FB claimed it was acting against hurt very much,” says Von Arnold. “I consoled myself that I was back in the fight and with hard work I could build that audience again.”

“That was a fundamental mistake,” Von Arnold added with a sarcastic tone. “The new page which was starting to move suddenly went dead. All interaction on posts ceased, post reach went to 1 or 2 people in each post.”

Facebook has been unresponsive to the Von Arnold’s request for assistance.

“This is malicious harassment and a form of gaslighting which I wouldn’t wish on my worst political enemy,” Von Arnold argues. “Moreover it is proof positive, at least in my mind, of the persistent animus FB has shown to conservative pages on their platform.”

“I cherish the freedoms that have been bought so dearly,” he concludes. “I wanted to voice my concerns that those freedoms were becoming increasingly endangered. I started a page to give voice to those concerns and allow other to find their voice and Facebook punished me for it.”

Facebook’s purge of pages was not limited to last Thursday.

BJ Zeagler tells The Western Journal that her page, Donald J. Trump — President of the People, was taken down three weeks ago. (Because it had been affected before October 11, her page was not included in the previously mentioned list.)

Zeagler emphatically denies committing any violations that Facebook listed in its blog post last Thursday. The 74-year-old Nashville resident only ran one page, on which she posted articles from different sites, not owned by her. In other words, she made no money from her postings. The Tennessean had built up 2,000 likes over the last 10 years, originally starting her page in 2008 as a pro-retired Lt. Col. Allen West page, in hopes he would one day run for president.

“It was a really good page. I worked hours on it (each day),” Zeagler explains. “I did what I did because I loved this country.”

She posted articles from sources that she trusted like conservative talk radio personalities Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin and Sean Hannity.

“It was really sad to me. They removed by page,” she laments. “They removed the names of everybody that was coming there. They don’t know how to reach me. I don’t know how to reach them. It was dirty, and they didn’t tell me they were going to do it.”

The Times reported that concern over Facebook’s political bias against conservatives inspired Brian Amerige, a senior engineer with the company, to write a post to his co-workers in August.

“We are a political monoculture that’s intolerant of different views,” he wrote. “We claim to welcome all perspectives, but are quick to attack — often in mobs — anyone who presents a view that appears to be in opposition to left-leaning ideology.”

“We are entrusted by a great part of the world to be impartial and transparent carriers of people’s stories, ideas and commentary,” Amerige added. “Congress doesn’t think we can do this. The president doesn’t think we can do this. And like them or not, we deserve that criticism.”

The Times related that since the engineer’s post went up more than 100 Facebook employees had joined him to form an online group called ‘FB’ers for Political Diversity,’ based on two people within the company who had seen the page, but were not authorized to talk to the media.

The day before Facebook announced its purge, The Business Insider reported that Ameriage had left the company.

“I care too deeply about our role in supporting free expression and intellectual diversity to even whole-heartedly attempt the product stuff anymore, and that’s how I know it’s time to go,” he wrote in a memo to his fellow employees, announcing his departure.

Patrick Brown, editor-in-chief of The Western Journal, has called on Facebook to release the full list of the pages it has unpublished.

“If Facebook is deleting American-run political pages in run up to election, Facebook should release full list of pages affected, regardless if these pages were violating terms of service or not. Without that list we have no way to verify their claims,” he tweeted.

Although it is clear many of these page owners did violate Facebook’s prohibition against using multiple accounts, many of the owners say that once they were told it was a problem, they immediately stopped using those accounts and verified their single remaining accounts with Facebook. The owners also shared a similar complaint — that Facebook never told them that they had done anything so egregious as to have years of their work literally erased with no warning and little more than a vague, one-sentence explanation that raised more questions than it answered.

Even Facebook’s recent “war room” announcement referenced the company’s efforts to increase “accountability and transparency.” But the company has still yet to release more than 5 of the 559 pages that were purged.

The majority of the known pages suspended by Facebook were right-leaning. While there may be valid justification for all of Facebook’s actions, Facebook has not responded to The Western Journal’s request for comment or provided to any known media outlet a full list of suspended pages or any evidence that any of the pages had in fact violated any of the rules Facebook claims were the basis for their purge. And to date, neither The Times nor The Post, the two papers who received the early scoop of the purge along with the five examples of purged pages, have called for the entire list to be made public.

Facebook’s refusal to release the whole list or any proof of any violation of terms of service has many questioning if Facebook is being honest about its intentions.

Rhett Jones with Gizmodo noted, “the fact that Facebook is keeping almost all of the details about this action under wraps may save it some short-term pain, but it just gives everyone’s imagination the chance to run wild.”

Back at his computer, Matt Mountain is trying to make sense of Facebook’s recent actions. He is convinced that Facebook’s actions have little to do with violation of terms and conditions. “They have an agenda and they are twisting their terms and conditions to pursue that agenda.”

Matt argued that Facebook is desperate to avoid possible antitrust attention: “They are in the hot seat over politics. They are worried about regulation. I think they are conducting security theater — in other words, they are pretending to do something.”

“Facebook can decide who gets elected,” Matt warned. “Their staff has joked that they can control the outcome of a presidential election just by where they deploy the ‘I voted’ badge, because that badge influences friends to vote.”

The fact that Facebook’s purge happened only weeks before the important 2018 midterm elections did not go unnoticed by Matt, either. “(T)hey wipe out hundreds of the top activists, real Americans who have been working in politics for years, just a month before midterms.” According to Matt, Facebook “wiped out” more than 60 million followers. The main Facebook pages of CNN and Fox News combined have only 46 million followers. “I don’t think staff at Facebook, who we don’t know and have zero transparency, should have that much power without regulation.”

One last note: Matt is a self-described liberal. His site is LiberalMountain.com. Matt’s content is vehemently anti-Trump and he depicted Republicans as Nazis. But Brown underlines a key point in a tweet directed personally to Matt about why The Western Journal, a conservative site, cares that Matt’s pages were deleted: “This isn’t a left-right issue, this is a free speech issue.”

Actual Descendant of Pocahontas Speaks Out on Elizabeth Warren’s DNA Test – ‘I Feel Betrayed’

Reported By Steven Beyer | October 17, 2018 at 10:20am

A descendant of the famed 17th-century Powhatan princess Pocahontas spoke out against Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s DNA test results Tuesday on Fox News Tucker Carlson Tonight,” saying she felt “betrayed” by the senator’s claims of Native American ancestry.

Host Carlson asked Debbie White Dove Porreco about the Massachusetts Democrat’s test results, saying, “You’ve watched Elizabeth Warren, once again, put herself at the head of the ‘Me Sioux’ movement, and come out with this DNA test which you called for. Now that we have the results, what’s your response?”

“Well, first of all, I’m so glad she ended up taking one,” Porrecco said, “and it did prove that she wasn’t the Cherokee Indian that she’s been claiming to be for so long.”

“How did that make you feel as a descendant of Pocahontas?” Carlson asked. “Cultural appropriation is often in the news. Do you think she’s guilty of it?”

Porrecco replied, “Well, I think she’s guilty of claiming she’s been American Indian but (has) no proof, and using it for applications, for college, for political reasons.

“And that was all wrong, that she did that this whole time.”

Carlson then asked her how she felt about Warren being called the “first female faculty member of color” at Harvard.

“I feel betrayed,” Porrecco said, “because she wasn’t. She was using the name, trying to be American Indian just to rise above.”

She went on to say that Warren’s claim of being American Indian took away “benefits” from the American Indians that belonged to them.

Carlson asked Porrecco if other Native Americans felt the same way she did.

She responded, “I do. I think they feel betrayed. They feel disappointed, you know. I think at this point, she needs to come back and apologize to everybody for what she’s done.”

“Yes,” Carlson said, “I think that’s right.

Porrecco, however, isn’t the only Native American to speak out after Warren released her DNA test results on Monday. Chuck Hoskin Jr., the Cherokee Nation’s secretary of state, said in a statement Monday that “Senator Warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage.”

Additionally, Hoskin said, “A DNA test is useless to determine tribal citizenship. Current DNA tests do not even distinguish whether a person’s ancestors were indigenous to North or South America.”

Using a DNA test to prove that you have a connection to the Cherokee or any other tribal nation, Hoskin noted, is “inappropriate and wrong.”

French City Refuses To Honor Slain Police Officer for Fear of Offending Muslims

Reported By Lisa Payne-Naeger | October 17, 2018 at 5:04pm

Under any other circumstances, a law enforcement officer who sacrificed his life to save that of another, whether or not it was in the line of duty, would be widely heralded as a hero. No question.

Arnaud Beltrame was a lieutenant colonel with the National Police in Marseille, France, and he lost his life in the line of duty. He was killed by 25-year-old Radouane Lakdim, a Moroccan-born Muslim terrorist.

Beltrame was certainly a man worthy of honors. But according to Voice of Europe, recognition for his bravery doesn’t seem to be in the cards.

CNN reported the incidents that led to Beltrame’s death in March.

“Interior Minister Gérard Collomb said the officer, a lieutenant colonel with the National Police, offered to exchange himself for one of the female hostages being held inside the Super U supermarket in Trèbes.

“When the officer went inside the supermarket, shots were fired. The lieutenant colonel had his phone on, so police could hear his interactions with the gunman, Collomb said. As soon as they heard gunfire, police went in,” reported CNN.

The standoff lasted more than three hours. Lakdim was killed by police and Beltrame died later of stab wounds.

American Military News reported that the 15th district in Marseille is said to have a significant population of jihadists. Just five months prior to Beltrame’s death, two women were killed by an ISIS terrorist in the same area.

“ISIS-linked news outlet, Amaq News Agency, published a statement in which they referred to the terrorist as a ‘soldier’ of ISIS who carried out their attack on a U.S. ally involved in efforts against ISIS in Syria and Iraq,” AMN wrote.

President Emmanuel Macron had high praises for the slain officer.

“Our country has suffered an Islamist terrorist attack. We’ve paid the price of the danger of the terrorist threat in blood for several years,” Macron said, according to CNN.

“The forces of order intervened with remarkable speed, both to contain the individual who hid away with his hostages, to help one of the victims who was still alive who he had left in the surrounding area. He has saved lives, and done his role and his country proud.”

So, what problem could there be in honoring such a brave man?

In March, the people of France were attempting to honor the bravery of Beltrame after his death and preparing for a “day of tribute,” but sentiments soon changed. As officials in Marseille worked to make a memorial to Beltrame, they hit a road block. Political correctness run amok.

“Attempts to name the city’s 15th district after Beltrame were recently rejected over concerns of offending the Muslim community, AMN reported.

Marseille’s 7th district National Rally mayor Stephane Ravier said the proposal was refused during a town council meeting. Ravier exclaimed that it was the first time the “Leftist elected officials, socialist and communist” refused such an honor in the 15th district. He claimed their excuse for denying Beltrame a place of honor was because they were afraid of offending the Muslim population and possible retaliation for their public praise of Beltrame.

“Leftist elected officials, socialist and communist, refused that a place in the 15th district be named after Arnaud Beltrame, in the first time, they’ve said, under fallacious pretext, that this place wasn’t prestigious enough, before telling the truth in these terms: we are on the field, we witnessed that the population has changed and if we give the name of Arnaud Beltrame in this district, the population will take that as a provocation,” Ravier said, according to Voice of Europe.

Americans should take a swift lesson from this politically correct travesty in France. Such a sad ending to a tragic story for Beltrame, a true hero. He deserves better. And so do the people of France who are living under the threat of terror.

State Demands Christian US Filmmakers Make Same-Sex Films or Face Jail Time

Reported By Randy DeSoto | October 18, 2018 at 1:51pm

A Christian couple who owns a media company is suing the state of Minnesota after being threatened with fines and imprisonment if they refuse to make films involving same-sex marriage.

Carl and Angel Larsen, through their company Telescope Media Group, want to enter the wedding industry, but due to their religious beliefs do not want to create films celebrating same-sex marriages.

Minnesota’s Human Rights Act stipulates that if the owners produce films about traditional Christian marriages between one man and one woman, they must also produce films about unions that violate their Christian views, CBN News reported.

The religious liberty law firm Alliance Defending Freedom, which is representing the Larsens in the suit, said in a Tuesday news release that the couple faces steep fines, including compensatory and punitive damages of up to $25,000, and up to 90 days in prison if they fail to comply with Minnesota’s public accommodation law.

ADF filed suit at the U.S. 8th Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday challenging the constitutionality of Minnesota’s law, arguing it “illegally controls artistic expression — violating the Larsens’ freedom to choose which messages they will express, and refrain from expressing, through their films.”

In 2017, federal district court Judge John Tunheim, a Clinton appointee, dismissed the Larsens’ suit challenging the application of Minnesota’s Human’s Rights Act in their case.

ADF senior counsel Jeremy Tedesco, who represented the couple at the district court, filed Tuesday’s appeal at the 8th Circuit.

“The government shouldn’t threaten filmmakers with fines and jail time to force them to create films that violate their beliefs,” Tedesco said in a news release announcing the suit.

“Carl and Angel are storytellers — they script, stage, conduct interviews, capture footage, select music, edit and more — all to tell compelling stories through film that promote their religious beliefs,” he added.

ADF successfully sued the state of Colorado on behalf of Christian baker Jack Phillips, securing his right to decline to make custom wedding cakes celebrating same-sex marriages. In a 7-2 ruling, the Supreme Court found Phillips had a legitimate claim “that using his artistic skills to make an expressive statement, a wedding endorsement in his own voice and of his own creation, has a significant First Amendment speech component and implicates his deep and sincere religious beliefs.”

The Court went on to note, “That consideration was compromised, however, by the (Colorado Civil Rights) Commission’s treatment of Phillips’ case, which showed elements of a clear and impermissible hostility toward the sincere religious beliefs motivating his objection.”

ADF is arguing, like Phillips, the Larsens gladly serve people of all backgrounds, but as creative professionals they decline business which requires them to produce films containing messages they find objectionable. ADF reported that the 8th Circuit received a friend-of-the-court brief from 10 states supporting the Christian filmmakers’ right to artistic expression earlier this year.

The states joining in the brief include: Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and West Virginia.

Complaint: TX Democrat Party Sent Altered Voter Registration Forms to Noncitizens

Posted on October 18th, 2018

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN.) – October 18, 2018: the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) today alerted local, state, and federal law enforcement to campaign mailers directed at noncitizens in south Texas which encouraged voter registration via altered forms indicating they were U.S. citizens.

Texas Democrat Party mailers circulated around the Rio Grande Valley region of south Texas landed in the hands of lawfully present noncitizens in late September and early October. The envelopes contained voter registration applications where the answers to questions “Are you a United States Citizen?” and “Will you be 18 years of age on or before election day?” were pre-printed “Yes” for each.

“Noncitizens usually register to vote at the prompting of another party—usually a DMV clerk,” PILF President and General Counsel J. Christian Adams said. “Today, we are raising awareness to how the Texas Democrat Party—unintentionally or otherwise—is offering voter registration to noncitizens. Without some form of official intervention, confused noncitizens rather than the Texas Dems will end up paying the consequences of this matter.”

The letters from PILF went to district attorneys in the region, in addition to Texas and federal officers, explains why pre-printing answers about eligibility are problematic:

[W]hen Congress passed the NVRA, it envisioned a registrant making two separate affirmations of citizenship – both the checkbox as well as the signature attestation. This enables prosecutors to easier establish intent and state of mind when noncitizens illegally register to vote.

The Foundation urges the recipients of the referral to “investigate if and how many returned applications arrived in your local county elections office(s) … The Foundation yields to your office in addition to the state and local election officials on how best to protect ineligible registrants from casting ballots during the 2018 Election.”

Attached with the Foundation’s referral is an affidavit from a former employee of the 229th Judicial District Attorney, David. C. Kifuri, Jr., who initially came forward with the documents in question.

Digital versions of the referral letter and Kifuri affidavit are linked here.

Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) is a 501(c)(3) public interest law firm dedicated to election integrity. The Foundation exists to assist states and others to aid the cause of election integrity and fight against lawlessness in American elections. Drawing on numerous experts in the field, PILF seeks to protect the right to vote and preserve the Constitutional framework of American elections.

American media, just stick to your job

Written by Denise Shick – Guest Columnist | Thursday, October 18, 2018 | http://www.help4families.com

Shick

Many in the media truly believe they are serving children’s best interests by promoting the LGBTQ agenda. If only they would just inform people based on facts obtained through objective investigation.

Well, it’s official now: Jazz Jennings – born 18 years ago as Jared, with normally functioning male parts – now has female parts.

Despite a “complication” requiring a second procedure, Jazz is happy to tell her throngs of adoring fans that her surgery was a success and that now “I just get to be myself, be in the body that I’ve always wanted.”

In case you missed it somewhere along the way – as you worked those long, hard hours scraping up enough money to pay the rent and feed your family – in 2007, when Jared was just seven years old, he became the poster-child for childhood transgenderism. ABC’s Barbara Walters gave the young boy the platform he needed to become a wealthy celebrity – as a girl, Jazz. Many other media appearances soon followed. Jazz quickly became a star, with her own TV show.

Alluring attention

Imagine for a moment being seven years old and having adoring adult celebrities praise you – on TV, in front of millions of viewers – as a brave, pioneering role model. Imagine, while still transitioning out of baby teeth, having your own TV show – on the implied condition that you continue as the brave young transitioning pioneer. How would all that fame and adulation affect you? Who, whether child or adult, wouldn’t feed on such flattering attention?

Now imagine you are another seven- to twelve-year-old watching the Jazz interviews – or her own TV show. It must appear pretty captivating – pretty enticing. Is it possible that our media are feeding the surging childhood interest in transgenderism?

Studies on peer-group pressure

One study indicates it could be. “Rapid-onset gender dysphoria in adolescents and young adults: A study of parental reports[i] by Dr. Lisa Littman and others at Brown University concluded in part:

It is plausible that ROGD represents an ego-syntonic maladaptive coping mechanism for some AYAs and that peer group and online influences may contribute to its development. It is unknown whether the gender dysphoria of rapid-onset gender dysphoria is temporary or likely to be long-term. The elevated number of friends per friendship group who became transgender-identified, the pattern of cluster outbreaks of transgender-identification in these friendship groups, the substantial percentage of friendship groups where the majority of the members became transgender-identified, and the peer group dynamics observed all serve to support the plausibility of social and peer contagion for ROGD.

In other words, “Look at all the attention Jazz is getting. That’s so cool!” Okay, that’s clearly in considerably more vernacular phrasing than anything seen in the Brown study. But kids don’t read those kinds of studies; they’re the subjects of such studies. And if you read between the lines, that appears to be what’s happening.

Before I get deluged with angry replies telling me the above-cited Brown study has been debunked, let me elaborate. Lisa Littman, who led the Brown University study, is assistant professor of the Practice of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Brown. I won’t take up your time by listing all her credentials. Please go see them for yourself. Prior to this study no one questioned Dr. Littman’s credentials or her objectivity. But these days the preferred method of operation in refuting studies is censorship rather than open debate. After heated objections from LGBTQ groups, Dr. Littman’s published study, previously posted on the Brown University website, has been removed.

According toDevelopment of Intra‐ and Intergroup Judgments in the Context of Moral and Social‐Conventional Norms,” a study led by University of Maryland developmental psychologist Melanie Killen: “Peer group pressure begins in elementary schools, as early as age nine. It’s what kids actually encounter there on any given day.” Kids, it turns out, want to be like those famous kids.

Growing percentage of transgenders?

When my father came out as a woman back in the 1980s, the very thought of changing one’s gender was foreign to nearly everyone. Post Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner, transgenderism has become the progressive crusade du jour, and the numbers appear to be growing. The generally accepted percentage of adult transgenders in the U.S is about half of one percent. But a recent study of high schoolers has pegged the percentage at about three percent. While three percent might seem insignificant, it’s dramatically larger than half a percent. If the percentage has grown by a factor of six over the preceding generation, that is truly significant.

Reporters or promoters?

So … are the media merely reporting the trend or successfully promoting it? Thomas Sowell wisely wrote:

Media bias in editorials and columns is one thing. Media fraud in reporting ‘facts’ in news stories is something else …. The issue is not what various journalists or news organizations’ editorial views are. The issue is the transformation of news reporting into ideological spin, along with self-serving taboos and outright fraud.

Many in the media truly believe they are serving kids’ best interests by promoting the LGBTQ agenda. But the role of the media is simply to inform based on facts obtained through objective investigation. The role of the media’s consumers is to choose how to interpret and apply those facts.

American media, stick to your job, please.

Soros? GOP Rep. Posts Video Purportedly Showing People Being Paid To Join Honduran Caravan

Reported By Benjamin Arie | October 17, 2018 at 4:09pm

Are poor Hondurans being bribed to join the latest migrant caravan heading for the U.S. border … and if so, who is paying them? That’s the question that Rep. Matt Gaetz is raising after he discovered footage of a strange scene allegedly shot in Central America.

On Wednesday, the Florida Republican posted a one-minute video that appears to show women being handed cash to join a group — possibly, according to Gaetz, to be part of a slow-moving horde that plans on making its way north through Mexico and then into the United States.

The suspicious timing of the caravan, just three weeks before November’s midterm elections, and questions about what was happening in the clip were both raised by Gaetz on Twitter.

“Footage in Honduras giving cash 2 women & children 2 join the caravan & storm the US border @ election time,” the congressman posted.

Soros?” he continued, referring to one of the most infamous wealthy backers of liberal political movements, billionaire George Soros.

“US-backed NGOs? Time to investigate the source!” Gaetz wrote.

Information was not immediately available regarding where the video came from or what, precisely, it showed. More than 15,000 Twitter users responded to the post online, and the comments about the video were overwhelmingly against illegal immigration.

While many details about the clip are still missing, Gaetz’s allegation would have serious implications if it is accurate. A scheme that paid poor Central American citizens to leave their country and march toward the U.S. border would help explain the speed at which the latest caravan has grown in size.

“Up to 3,000 (Upgraded to 4,000) migrants crossed from Honduras into Guatemala on Monday on a trek northward, after a standoff with police in riot gear and warnings from Washington that migrants should not try to enter the United States illegally,” Reuters reported on Tuesday.
“The crowd more than doubled in size from Saturday, when some 1,300 people set off from northern Honduras in what has been dubbed ‘March of the Migrant,’” the news service continued.

It probably wouldn’t take much money to tempt them. The average monthly income in Honduras is about $230 U.S., and that’s if a person actually has a job in its shattered economy.

There are a number of plausible explanations for the footage shared by Gaetz, including the possibility of a non-governmental organization trying to assist the migrants by handing out cash for their unsanctioned journey.

Gaetz’s theory about somebody like Soros pulling strings to influence what is happening may be less likely, but it certainly is worth considering.

InfluenceWatch, a project from the Capital Research Center that tracks the funding of various groups, lists several Soros-backed movements in the category of “Mass Mobilization.”

The leftist billionaire has been linked to disruptive organizations including Black Lives Matter and the Women’s March, and may be linked to the radical far-left group “antifa” as well.

“(T)he left-wing billionaire George Soros has ties to Antifa through a group called the Alliance for Global Justice (AfGJ),” explained the Capital Research Center. “Soros’s philanthropy, known at the time as the Open Society Institute, gave $100,000 to AfGJ.”

Considering that Soros is also an avowed advocate of open borders in Europe, according to The Daily Caller, it wouldn’t be that much of a stretch for him to have his financial tentacles in the growing Central American immigration crisis.

More and more, political issues are not exactly what they seem. It’s time to follow the money and dig into what is happening with the migrant situation — and it wouldn’t be surprising if there were some shady figures pulling levers behind the scenes.

The original headline for this article was unclear whether Hondurans were being paid or were themselves paying to join the “caravan.” It also implied that such payment might be an illegal activity, which is unknown. We have therefore updated the headline for clarity. — Ed. note

The Ann Coulter Letter: “Fake News Autopsy”

Commentary by Ann Coulter

URL of the original posting site: http://humanevents.com/2018/10/18/fake-news-autopsy/

Whenever Donald Trump talks about fake news, there are howls of indignation from the establishment media. We’re told that the very mention of “fake news” is a direct attack on our democracy, that the alternative is “darkness,” that it led to the dismemberment and murder of Jamal Khashoggi, and that, yes, every once in a while there might be a typo, but if you mean the media intentionally report false information, that is dangerous demagoguery.

I present CNN’s Ana Cabrera.

On Sunday night, Cabrera launched a premeditated, vicious, racist lie about President Trump, then proceeded to discuss the false story with a black guest, primed to analyze the fake news.

We’ll slow down the replay in order to follow the ball, so you can see every handoff in the creation of fake news.

A few weeks ago, when Judge Brett Kavanaugh was facing 30-year-old, completely uncorroborated accusations of sexual assault based on recovered memories in order to block his Supreme Court appointment, Trump said, “It’s a very scary time for young men in America when you can be guilty of something that you may not be guilty of.”

This statement was quoted by numerous news outlets, including CNN: “Trump says it’s ‘a very scary time for young men in America,’” Jeremy Diamond, Oct. 2.

Cabrera rewrote the president’s quote, telling CNN viewers that Trump had said: “WHITE men have a lot to fear right now.”

How did “white” get slipped in there?

If this were merely a mistake, there are lots of words in the English language that might have been inserted instead of “white.” Why not “radial tire”? Why not “hangnail”? Why not the words “virtuoso” or “champagne”?

Dictionaries are heavy with all of the words that might have been inserted if this were an accident. How could the word “white” inadvertently get slipped into a Trump quote?

CNN intentionally told an ugly lie about the most incendiary issue roiling the nation: race. It wasn’t a lie about Trump’s position on tax policy, North Korea or school vouchers. The network deliberately pushed a racism narrative calculated to incite racial hatred that could get someone killed.

Like a professional jewel thief swiping a Cartier watch so deftly that the guard doesn’t notice, Cabrera launched the lie during a segment that began: “People are talking about a string of recent incidents with racial undertones.”

“People are talking about” is how opinion journalism masquerades as news. What topics aren’t “people talking about”?

People are talking about CNN head Jeff Zucker’s split from his wife after 21 years.

People are talking about Chris Cuomo’s behavior at the CNN Christmas party.

People are talking about how Ana Cabrera got her job.

Cabrera then presented two stories about white people falsely accusing black people of doing things they hadn’t done — which was ironic, inasmuch as Cabrera was about to falsely accuse Trump of doing something he hadn’t done.

After a brief word from a black guest, professor Marc Lamont Hill, who said our world is “still shot through with white supremacy,” Cabrera told the lie about Trump:

“President Trump and his son, Don Jr., said this week, white men have a lot to fear right now.”

(His son said no such thing either.)

Cabrera then ran a clip of “Saturday Night Live” comedian Michael Che’s “take” on the nonexistent quote, in which he injected race into the president’s remarks, calling Trump a “white dude.”

Che: “Come on. Old, rich white dude telling us it’s a scary time in America? That is pure comedy.”

(The absence of a punchline was covered with, “That is pure comedy,” meaning, “Please laugh now!”)

At this point in the program, the lie about Trump transformed into actual presidential policy. Cabrera asked Hill, “Why do you think that is Trump’s strategy?

Hill went off on the fictional Trump quote, talking about the president’s “racial tribalism.” Again, this was about a Trump statement that had absolutely nothing to do with race — until CNN made it so.

“It stokes white fear,” Hill continued, “saying that it’s a scary time to be a white man because you get accused of something that you didn’t do”as CNN was accusing Trump of something he didn’t do.

Goebbels would be proud!

If this were an error, it would have been quickly corrected before the first commercial break. It was not corrected because it’s not a mistake; it’s a political strategy. CNN invents fake news to push an ugly narrative about the president’s “racial tribalism.”

That’s why an entire news segment was prepared around the fake quote, with an invited guest asked to comment on something Trump never said.

To those of you with jobs and busy lives, clip this column and keep it in your wallet so you are prepared the next time someone scoffs at Trump’s denunciation of fake news.

Trump, Mexico move to stop 2K (Updated to 4K) Honduran migrants

Reported by Chad Groening (OneNewsNow.com) | Thursday, October 18, 2018

Illegal immigrants caughtAn immigration enforcement advocate is encouraged by the efforts being made to stop a caravan of migrants from reaching the United States illegally.

The Honduran government has called on the 2,000-person caravan to give up its trek north and return home.

President Donald Trump has threatened to withhold $65 million in aid if Honduran leaders do not find a way to stop the caravan – which has already reached Guatemala.

Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) Director of Public Studies Jessica Vaughan – who formerly served as a foreign service officer with the U.S. State Department – commended the president for continuing to be tough on immigration.

“I think it’s a good move for President Trump to have made the statements he’s made – that our relationship is going to be affected in a bad way,” the immigration expert expressed. “But I’m not sure there’s much the Honduran government can do. It evokes an image of East Germany – with the country trying to force people to stay home. I don’t think you can prevent people from leaving if they want to.”

Vaughan also pointed out that Guatemala has already caved into the caravan, but she is encouraged that Mexico has deployed officers to its southern border.

“They’re saying all the right things now, and they’re behaving more responsibly than they did in the spring when the earlier caravan came through and they actually issued them transit visas to continue to the United States,” she explained. “They seem to be responding to the statements of President Trump and our indications that our relationship is in trouble if they don’t behave like good neighbors.”

Vaughan stressed that it is a good sign that Mexico is realizing that it has more to gain than lose by cooperating with the U.S. on border enforcement.

WASHINGTON (October 18, 2018) — President Donald Trump is lashing out over the caravan of Central American migrants trying to reach the United States, saying that if Mexico does not stop the effort, he will use the military to “CLOSE OUR SOUTHERN BORDER.”

Trump tweeted Thursday that he wanted “Mexico to stop this onslaught.” He also appeared to threaten a revamped trade deal with Mexico and Canada.

Trump did not detail his military threat. Earlier this year, some National Guard members were deployed to the border on a limited mission that does not include contact with migrants.

More than 2,000 Hondurans are in a migrant caravan trying to reach the United States.

Mexico’s government says migrants with proper documents can enter and those who don’t either have to apply for refugee status or face deportation.

The Tale of a Sick Uncle Sam

The Tale of a Sick Uncle Sam

It was in 2008 – as the residency for Dr. George W. Bush was coming to an end – that Uncle Sam collapsed on the floor of the housing market.  Things were not looking good for the old icon.  He was bleeding jobs and all the vital signs were pointing downward.  There was a chance Sam could slip into a coma.  His family – we the people – were very worried.  They almost fell into depression.

Panicked by his condition, and blaming Dr. Bush for not preventing the collapse, Sam’s family hired a new team headed up by Dr. Barack Obama.  To offset the bleeding, Dr. Obama pumped in a big transfusion of money and prescribed a bunch of economic medications that would regulate Sam’s symptoms but not address the underlying cause of his collapse.

Having earned his medical degree from the University of Socialized Medicine, Dr. Obama believed that constant transfusions of money was the only option – even if the family could not afford it.  But no matter.  Dr. Obama said they should just go out and borrow the money.

So, month after month and year after year, Sam lay in Intensive Care showing very small signs of improvement, but not enough to see him on his feet again anytime soon.  In fact, Dr. Obama and his team of specialists all agreed that everything possible was being down, but it would be a looooong time before Sam would recover fully – if ever.  We would just have to accept our weaker and frailer Uncle Sam.

Then along came Dr. Trump, who had gotten his degree from the School of Common-Sense Medicine.  He diagnosed Sam as strong as a bull but in need of a different treatment – one that had been proven effective in the past.  Sam did not need that highly expensive stuff that Dr. Obama has been prescribing – at more than a trillion dollars  per year, to be precise.  Dr. Trump promised to provide much less costly treatment that would be far more effective.

In response, Dr. Obama and his team called Dr. Trump a quack.  If he is allowed to treat poor ole Sam, they said, the old geezer will just get worse.  In fact, just hiring Dr. Trump would probably send Sam into a downward tumble and eventual cardiac arrest.

But seeing Sam just laying there, weak and helpless, for so long was enough to try something different.  Maybe it was a risk, but what the hell?  Sam’s family turned his care over to Dr. Trump.  Just the thought of a new doctor and the possibility of new treatment made Sam feel better.  His stock perked up almost immediately.

Just having the family hire Dr. Trump put Dr. Obama’s team into shock, however.  Many were found huddling together in safe space trauma centers across the nation.  Others were so angry at the family that hired Dr. Trump that they went on a rampage – calling the family a basket full of nasty names.

Dr. Trump said that Dr. Obama was doing too many things to just regulate Sam’s problem and not enough to cure him — and THAT was the problems.  According to Dr. Trump, Sam needed to be taken off all that  stuff Dr. Obama had prescribed to regulate Sam’s condition so that his own body could heal itself.

Rather than spending all that money on Sam, Dr. Trump suggested that the money saved be given to his family so that we could use it to buy things Sam needed – and the more they bought, the better Sam felt.  Soon, Sam was out of bed, out of the hospital feeling better, stronger and healthier than ever.

Instead of admitting he and his staff were wrong, Dr. Obama started saying that Sam still had problems.  And when he could no long point to any problems because all of Sam’s vital signs were amazingly good for a guy of his age, Dr .Obama said that it was he and his people who had saved Sam’s life and that it was his treatment that put Sam on the road to swift recovery.  And with that, Dr. Obama handed the family an $18 trillion bill not covered by insurance.

Uncle Sam was back to his old self – taking care of his family — and everybody lived happily ever after.  Okay, not everybody.

The Democratic party, and the far left in general, like to paint themselves as the party of tolerance and enlightenment. Obviously, we all know that’s not the case. But every once in a while, the Democratic Party reminds us of just how hypocritical they truly are. The best part is, they don’t even realize they’re doing it.

Case in point, just look at the hysteria surrounding Georgia’s “exact match” law.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the “exact match” law simply states that to be acceptable, a voter’s registration application must exactly match a driver’s license, state ID card or Social Security records.

That hardly seems controversial. After all, voting is such an important American right which helps shape our country, it’d make sense to make sure that all information is accurate and legitimate.

Democrats and the left don’t see it that way. They essentially find that law racist, apparently.

“Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp has been a driving force behind multiple voter suppression efforts throughout the years in Georgia,” said Kristen Clarke, president and executive director of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law said in a statement through Common Dreams.

It didn’t take long for Clarke to throw in a veiled accusation of racism.

“If there is one person in Georgia who knows that the ‘Exact Match’ scheme has a discriminatory impact on minority voters, it’s Brian Kemp because we successfully sued him over a mirror policy in 2016,” Clarke said.

Kemp, who is running for Georgia governor in the upcoming midterms in November, has frequently heard similar complaints from his Democratic opponent Stacey Abrams.

Abrams recently called Kemp “a remarkable architect of voter suppression” according to the The Associated Press.

Apparently, it’s now racist to try and safeguard our Constitutional Republic from voter fraud.

Clarke and Abrams seem to be glossing over the little fact that voters who have been flagged by the “exact match” law can still vote, as the Journal-Constitution notes. Oftentimes, the hold-ups when it comes to “exact match” issues stems from something simple like a missing hyphen, discrepancies between married and maiden names or even clerical government errors.

Even while those issues are pending, flagged voters can vote. Assuming a voter is not actively trying to commit voter fraud, the “exact match” law is a minor inconvenience at worst.

Not only are Democrats being intentionally misleading about the severity of the impact of “exact match,” think about the message they’re sending.

Derek Hunter, an author and contributor to The Daily Caller, summed it up best.

“Georgia Democrats are complaining that the state’s ‘exact match’ law, meaning people have to write their own name accurately on registration forms, is racist,” Hunter wrote on Twitter. “In other words, liberals don’t think minorities can write their own names. That’s pretty racist.”

That scathing take couldn’t be more true. Democrats are no strangers to racial double-standards, but these particular claims of racism go beyond that. At best, it shows a distinct misunderstanding of law, which is a damning sign for a political party. At worst, it shows a distinct willingness to lie and manipulate racial minorities no matter the cost, which should be even more damning.

Based on the Democrats’ track record, I’m inclined to believe the latter.

The New College Class on Reading the Bible Will Leave Christians Everywhere Furious

Reported By |

A college located in California has started offering a course for the 2019 semester titled “Queer Theory and the Bible,” strangely placing the class under the heading of “Religious Studies.”

Pomona College, a liberal arts institution, offered up a brief explanation for the one-credit course, saying “This process of queering will allow and require us to approach the biblical text in new ways.”

The course aims to teach students how to read the Bible through the lens of “queer theory,” and its participants will examine portions of the holy book that are more centralized to “prohibitions on homosexuality,” such as same-sex relations.

Completing this poll grants you access to Flag And Cross updates free of charge. You may opt out at anytime. You also agree to this site’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

According to the course description, the course will also explore “the larger discourses of heteronormativity (constructed around gender, sexuality, class, national identity, state formations, kinship, children, etc.) in which homophobic readings of the Bible emerge.”

“We will also look at the ways in which these discourses and the identities they shore up can be ‘queered,’ as well as at biblical texts that can be read as queer friendly,” the description continues. “This process of queering will allow and require us to approach the biblical text in new ways.”

The course will be taught by Dr. Erin M. Runions, the chair of religious studies. Dr. Runions research interests include “[t]he intersections of biblical interpretation and political philosophies, with their multiple impacts on political subjectivity, gender, sexuality, U.S. national sovereignty, and biopolitics.”

If you take a gander at Runions’ bio on her webpage, it states that she has been involved in activism for a number of years, her work largely focusing on issues like prison injustice, globalization, antiwar activism, feminist and queer organizing, and police brutality.

If you still aren’t convinced that Christianity is under attack by progressives in the university system, this should pretty much get you off of the fence.

Commentary: Pathetic media doubling down on stupid

Commentary by Ben Shapiro – Guest Columnist | Wednesday, October 17, 2018

URL of the original posting site: https://www.onenewsnow.com/perspectives/ben-shapiro/2018/10/17/pathetic-media-doubling-down-on-stupid

Ben ShapiroDemocrats have the enviable advantage of being able to trot out nearly any story and be given credibility by most of the mainstream media. And every time the media do that, they undercut their own credibility.

This week, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., in preparation for a 2020 presidential run, decided to fight back against President Trump’s brutal nickname for her: “Pocahontas.” Trump, you’ll recall, labeled her Pocahontas because for years, she has claimed Native American ancestry. Not only that, she claimed repeatedly that her mother’s Native American ancestry drove her parents to elope after her father’s family refused to welcome her mother with open arms thanks to their bigotry. As it turns out, Warren could never provide any evidence of Native American ancestry – even though she spent years labeling herself “Native American” while at the University of Pennsylvania Law School as well as Harvard Law School.

On Monday, Warren decided she’d had enough. She released a video of her family members discussing her claims of Native American background. “Native communities have faced discrimination, neglect and violence for generations,” Warren intoned. “And Trump can say whatever he wants about me, but mocking Native Americans or any group in order to try to get at me? That’s not what America stands for.”

She accompanied that video with her supposed proof of Native American background: an analysis by Professor Carlos Bustamante of Stanford University in which he explains that it is possible that Warren had a Native American ancestor anywhere from six to ten generations ago. That would have made her anywhere from 1/64th to 1/1,024th Native American. The study was based not on Native American DNA but on Mexican, Peruvian and Colombian DNA.

In fact, not even Cherokees were happy with Warren. In a stunning rebuke, the Cherokee Nation released a statement saying, “Senator Warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage” – and that Warren’s DNA test “makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, whose ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is proven.”

All of this should have been foreseeable by anyone with half a brain. Falsely claiming you are Native American for years is bad enough. But releasing a study demonstrating that you are 99.9 percent white – and then claiming that such a study justifies your false claims? What made Warren, an intelligent human being, think such a thing?

Only one simple fact: Warren knows, as everyone in politics knows, that the media will cover for nearly any instance of leftist political manipulation.

  • They’ll cover for Warren fibbing about her ancestry.
  • They’ll cover for Texas Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke driving drunk, plowing into a truck and then attempting to flee the scene of the crime.
  • They’ll cover for Arizona Senate candidate Rep. Kyrsten Sinema saying that she didn’t care if Americans joined the Taliban (CNN’s headline: “Kyrsten Sinema’s Anti-War Activist Past Under Scrutiny as She Runs for Senate”).

Democrats have the enviable advantage of being able to trot out nearly any story and be given credibility by most of the mainstream media.

Non-Democrats, however, see this game. And every time the media simply parrot Democratic talking points on issues like Warren’s ancestry, they undercut their credibility. Large media institutions have done more than anyone, including President Trump, to destroy their reputations with the American people. Their pathetic behavior over the past few weeks, in the approach to the 2018 elections, shows that they’re doubling down on stupid.

Pulpit politics: Tell us how you feel, preacher

Reported by Bill Bumpas, Chris Woodward (OneNewsNow.com) | Wednesday, October 17, 2018

church congregation (rear view)A Christian law firm says when it comes to politics and elections, silence isn’t an option for pastors. A recent survey indicates, however, that a substantial percentage of them are still unwilling to jump into the political fray and express their feelings about President Trump.

Liberty Counsel says pastors and church leaders are free to speak up regarding biblical and moral issues relevant to the upcoming election, including educating their members about the positions of candidates.

“Pastors can preach on any topic at any time, no matter whether this is a political discussion at that moment,” explains Mat Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel. “You may educate the people on these biblical topics and then explain to the people the candidates’ positions on these topics. You can do that by the distribution of voter guides or other means.”

Staver

Staver adds that candidates may also speak at a church. “You may acknowledge candidates who are attending your church and you can have candidates engaged in a forum or debate at your church,” he continues. “You can encourage people to register to vote. You can actually bus them to the polls.”

The bottom line, Staver says, is that pastors and church leaders must be empowered to confront what he calls the “assaults” on culture, faith, and freedom.

“This is not about politics [but rather] biblical and moral issues that have become politicized,” the attorney stresses. “The truth is [that] no church has ever lost its tax-exempt status for either endorsing or opposing any political candidate. Nor has any church lost its tax-exempt status for supporting or opposing local, state, or federal law.”

Are some pastors really ‘undecided’ – or are they just unwilling?

On the annual National Day of Prayer in 2017, President Donald Trump signed an executive order that promotes free speech and religious liberty, making it easier for churches to participate in politics. He has also loosened the unenforceable IRS restrictions on churches regarding political activities, effectively weakening the “Johnson Amendment” enacted in 1954.

LifeWay Research October 2018Despite those decisions by Trump, a recent survey of 1,000 Protestant senior pastors indicates they remain divided when it comes to assessing how they feel about his Oval Office performance. The results of the survey by LifeWay Research show a slim majority of pastors, 51 percent, approve of how Trump is handling the job; 28 percent say they disapprove of the president’s performance; and 20 percent are not sure.

Pointing to the number of those who are uncertain, Scott McConnell, executive director of the Nashville-based evangelical research firm, says when asked about politics typically some pastors are just reluctant to commit.

“When we asked about the approval of President [Barack] Obama during his first time, we saw that nine percent of pastors were not sure, were not willing to say one way or the other,” he recalls. “But we see twice that many today giving that kind of response related to President Trump.”

McConnell continues: “There’s definitely no lack of information on how the White House is doing and the decisions they’ve been making; and so the undecided posture really seems to be an unwillingness to kind of jump into the political fray at all or to pick sides in how the president is doing and really the current state of American politics.”

McConnell, Scott (LifeWay Research)He says younger pastors are least likely to approve of the president’s performance, explaining that it appears they are a little less tied to political identities.

A LifeWay Research survey conducted prior to the 2010 midterm elections found 30 percent of Protestant pastors approved of President Obama’s job performance. More than six in ten (61%) disapproved and only nine percent said they were not sure. By way of comparison, another survey by LifeWay Research – taken in the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election – found that only 32 percent of Protestant pastors were planning on voting for Trump while 19 planned on voting for Hillary Clinton. A full 40 percent were undecided.

Graham laments ‘what’s happened to Democratic Party’

Reported by Michael F. Haverluck (OneNewsNow.com) | Wednesday, October 17, 2018

Franklin Graham preachingRev. Franklin Graham is in a quandary as to what has become of the Democratic Party – especially with its frequently exposed anti-God and anti-America agenda.

The president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) recently took to social media to air his concern about Democrats forcing a county party leader to resign a while back over posting a statement that most Americans would — and should – feel proud to make:

“I stand for the flag, I kneel at the cross,” former United States Marine and Gulf War veteran Mark Salvas declared – to the chagrin of his fellow Democratic leaders, according to WND.

Dems evolving so far left, they can’t be right?

The son of the late iconic evangelist Billy Graham took to social media to back Salvas and shame Democrats for punishing their own party member for making such an honorable declaration.

“I’m not ashamed of my patriotism – not one bit,” Graham expressed on Facebook to his millions of followers, as reported by WND. “I fought for this country. I think I have a right to have a voice and be patriotic.”

The CEO of the Christian humanitarian aid organization, Samaritan’s Purse, went on to reaffirm his support of Salvas and question the motivation taking over the blue party – one that many see as continuing to move farther and farther to the left.

“He’s right,” Graham continued. “What has happened to the Democratic Party?”

Equating loyalty to God and America to ‘racism’

Democratic leaders were noticeably upset and distraught when Salvas publicly proclaimed his personal faith and patriotism as the new chairman of Allegheny County Democratic Party – so furious that they booted him from his position.

“We have a zero tolerance for sexual harassment or racism of any kind,” Democratic Committee Chairwoman Nancy Mills insisted, according to Fox News’ The Todd Starnes Show. “I think Chairwoman [Eileen] Kelly made the right decision once she was aware of the issues.”

While sitting down with the Fox News show’s host, Todd Starnes, Salvas shared how angered Democratic Party leaders were about his wife showing her support in a Facebook post for a police officer who was accused of killing an African American with racist intent. Even though her support was clearly expressed to denote her confidence in the law enforcement officer – because she had witnessed his virtuous character all his life – Democrats interpreted her backing as nothing more than a white supremacist rant.

“Salvas said they had known the police officer and his family since the officer was a toddler,” Starnes explained to his audience.

Rep. Ed Gainey (D-Pa.) also jumped on the Democrats’ race-card bandwagon, going as far as to accuse Salvas of insulting African-American voters … as losing votes – as opposed to genuine concern over racism – appeared to be the key issue at hand.

“To put that up on Facebook was, to me, insensitive – also to African Americans, who, as you know, have backed the Democratic Party for quite a long time, and everybody knows that it was insensitive,” Gainey argued, according to The Todd Starnes Show. “A Democratic leader has to be sensitive.”

Same Dems during the Obama years …

Several years ago – at the 2012 Democratic National Convention before former President Barack Obama’s second term – a similar reception to what Salvas received for saying he knelt at the cross and bowed to the flag was received when Democrats booed after it was announced that God was being reintroduced to their party’s platform.

“Thousands of bloggers are reporting this morning that delegates at the Democratic convention in Charlotte booed when God was reintroduced into their party’s platform,” CatholicCulture.org reported in September 2012. “In drafting the original platform, Democratic leaders had removed references to God – and to Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. They didn’t merely forget to mention God – in updating previous party platforms, they made a conscious decision to remove Him.”

Even though most Democrats from coast to coast would most likely not cheer their party devising a godless platform, elected leaders apparently thought it was a good idea.

“When that decision was brought to the attention of ordinary American voters – outside the orbit of the Democratic Party apparatchiks – it was unpopular … it didn’t play in Peoria,” CatholicCulture.org’s Phil Lawler explained. “Belatedly, the Democratic leaders realized that they should put God back in the picture, so an amendment to the platform was placed on the convention’s agenda.”

Showing the godless heart and soul of the Democratic Party, the amendment to put God back in the party’s platform was received with much controversy from within the rank and file at the DNC Convention.

“Quite a few delegates opposed the mention of God – some, no doubt, were primarily concerned about the mention of Jerusalem,” Lawler recounted. “Party leaders might have simplified matters by introducing two separate amendments – one to restore a mention of God, the other to name Jerusalem as Israel’s capital – but that tactic would not have suited the purposes of the party strategists. They didn’t want an open debate on God or on Jerusalem during the convention – they didn’t want to give American voters the opportunity to see just how radical the Democratic Party has become … they wanted the amendment approved quickly.”

Regardless of the problematic and confusing amendment process that took place during the convention, it was evident that a large proportion – most likely the majority – of the nation’s most vocal and influential Democrats were more than hostile to the idea of letting God back into their platform at the time.

In fact, it was reported that most Democrats at the 2012 DNC Convention actually voted to keep God out, as one conservative media outlet insisted that the voice vote from the crowd definitely went against welcoming God back in to the Democratic platform.

At the time, then-Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was put between a rock and a hard place and evidently tried to save face for his party – so it would not resemble a pack of atheists of anti-Semitists.

“Villaraigosa was lying, in any case – there is no way that the voice vote had passed,” Breitbart News explained in September 2012. “Opponents stood up and protested, waving and shouting – the fix was in. The Democratic leadership had to ram a mention of God and a mention of Jerusalem through – violating their own rules – to avoid the fallout within their own ranks.”

Not where your vote is … it’s where your heart is

Even though Graham has been vocal about his support for many of President Donald Trump’s conservative Christian policies regarding religious freedom and biblical principles concerning social issues, he made it quite clear earlier this summer in August that what truly matters is not whether one stands with Republicans or Democrats – but whether one stands with God.

“Graham – who described himself as ‘not a politician’ and involved with neither political parties – said healing the country’s political divide is a problem beyond mere mortals,” The Mail Tribune noted at the time.

He addressed the tension in America between those on the political right and left – insisting that neither party has the answers – only God.

“Only God can fix it,” Graham added. “The Republican Party’s not going to fix the problems of this country, or the state … neither are the Democrats – they’re not going to do it.”

Dear Snowflakes: If This Trump Painting Freaks You Out – This Trump Art Will Give You A STROKE

Reported By Wes Walker |

It’s a great idea for an art piece. But it’s got Democrats in a lather. All because it puts the Republicans in a pleasant light — how DARE they!

Trump sitting at the table (with his signature diet Coke, it looks like) with previous Republican presidents – all reasonably young and vibrant — laughing around the table over drinks. Dubya and his dad are there, naturally. So are Reagan, Ford and Nixon. Eisenhower and Roosevelt are there, too, and further back are Coolidge and Harding.

Trending: LMAO: This Eminem Meme Will Make Patriots Howl Like A Monkey!

One woman emerging from the crowd stands in for an as yet unknown female leader who will take her place in the future. She also appears in the Democrat version of the same painting.

That’s right — the artist, Andy Thomas, wasn’t making a partisan statement. It was just his way of representing history in a memorable way… as artists have done since time immemorial.

Trump liked this painting and hung it in the White House. Trump has been criticized for doing so.

The president, however, did not commission the painting titled The Republican Club that was pictured during a walk through of the West Wing with 60 Minutes’ Lesley Stahl. It is the work of Andy Thomas, who also painted The Democratic Club during President Barack Obama’s time in office.
The Republican Club was a piece that had been done previously. This was an update to that painting, according to Thomas. It was re-worked to include 45.

They’re comparing it to ‘Dog’s Playing Poker’.

But lemme guess — if Obama had done the same thing with the Democrat version, and thy noticed, they would have cheered it as Obama ‘taking his place in history’, right?

There’s no winning with these people. So why not just troll them and ‘go all in’?

Imagine their reaction if he hung something from THIS collection in the White House?

They’d probably wet themselves.

Meadows: Religious liberty a high priority for Trump administration

Reported by Bill Bumpas, Chris Woodward (OneNewsNow.com) | Tuesday, October 16, 2018

Pastor Andrew Brunson releasedA U.S. congressman who was part of the effort to bring Pastor Andrew Brunson home recalls the “powerful moment” he witnessed as the pastor prayed over the President of the United States.

The televised meeting on Saturday between Brunson and President Donald Trump continues to have people talking. “What a day of celebration to know that not only Pastor Brunson is back home, but our God still reigns over the affairs of nations,” said Congressman Mark Meadows (R-North Carolina). “It is a great day of rejoicing.”

Meadows, who made his comments Monday on “Washington Watch with Tony Perkins,” went on to say that it was a powerful moment to see a man of God – who not only had been in prison but also possibly would not be coming home – now free.

Andrew Brunson praying over Trump“At times, it looked very, very bleak [for Brunson],” said Meadows, who was among the lawmakers and administration officials in the Oval Office on Saturday. “The president deserves just unbelievable gratitude not just from Republicans or Democrats or unaffiliated, but from those who believe in religious liberty. And it was a powerful moment as the president was prayed for by Pastor Brunson.”

(See C-SPAN report; prayer begins at 7:30 into the video)

Meadows added that the entire Trump administration made him feel that there was no higher priority than getting Brunson home. “I had the opportunity to not only talk to the pastor and his wife, but to his children,” he continued. “They were so unbelievably grateful … and it lets us know that Americans will not be left behind.”

Meadows was also moved by the “Christ-like love” Brunson obviously has for the Turkish people. “He said that in the Oval Office,” the congressman emphasized, “and that’s saying something after being imprisoned against your will.”

Brunson was accused of espionage and terrorism. On Friday he was found guilty in a Turkish court of terrorism, but released on time served. He had been held in prison and under house arrest by the Turkish government for two years.

Brunson’s back … but don’t stop now!

The successful return of the American pastor to the U.S. after being imprisoned in Turkey for his faith is inspiring hopes that more persecuted Christians will be freed from captivity.

Faith McDonnell is director of religious liberty programs at The Institute on Religion & Democracy as well as a founding member of Save the Persecuted Christians. McDonnell says she’s grateful for the work by the Trump administration to gain Brunson’s freedom – and she’s hopeful it could lead to relief for other oppressed believers.

McDonnell, Faith (IRD)“… I would love to see this kind of effort go on for other Christians who are being persecuted and imprisoned, whether they’re American citizens or not – particularly Leah Sharibu right now,” says the IRD spokeswoman.

Sharibu is the Christian teenage girl being held captive by Boko Haram. McDonnell tells OneNewsNow that Pastor Brunson’s positive outcome should motivate the Trump administration to move forward in helping other persecuted Christians.

“But it’s going to take continued encouragement from American Christians,” she explains. “They need to care as much about a little girl in Nigeria as they do about an American pastor – so Americans need to continue to step up to the plate and be advocates for persecuted brothers and sisters around the world.”

If that happens, McDonnell is convinced the Trump White House will continue to take positive steps towards helping more persecuted Christians.

City settles lawsuit with fire chief fired for his faith

Reported by Chris Woodward (OneNewsNow.com) | Tuesday, October 16, 2018

Kelvin Cochran speaking at rallyThe former fire chief of Atlanta who has argued over the last few years that he was fired for his Christian faith and beliefs got some good news yesterday.

On Monday the city of Atlanta agreed to pay Kelvin Cochran $1.2 million in the wake of a federal district court ruling in December 2017 that found some of the city’s policies that led to his termination are unconstitutional.

“To actually lose my childhood dream come true – [my] profession, where all of my expectations have been greatly exceeded – over my faith, the very faith that caused me to get my job, ultimately has cost me my job,” Cochran says.

Cochran argues he was fired for his Christian faith and beliefs. The case began in 2014 after Cochran self-published a men’s devotional book he had written on his personal time. While the book does mention biblical sexual morality, attorney Kevin Theriot of Alliance Defending Freedom points out it was only a brief mention in the 162-page book.

Theriot

“Government officials can’t force employees to get permission before engaging in free speech,” says the attorney. “As the court found, the city can’t leave such decisions to the whims of government officials.”

The court determined last year that Atlanta’s rules restricting non-work speech for Christian men that Cochran wrote were too broad and allowed city officials to unconstitutionally discriminate against views with which they disagree.

“All Americans are guaranteed the freedom of actually believing and thinking in such a way that does not cost them the consequences that I’ve experienced in this termination,” adds Cochran.

A HUGE Dude Wins Women’s World Cycling Championship

Reported By K. Walker |

A biological male competing against biological women wins the competition. What. A. Shocker. Who could’ve seen this coming? The answer, of course, is anyone with any sense. The shocking part is that this athlete was allowed to compete against women at all.

ClashDaily has covered stories like this before:

WTF? Teen With Mustache Says ‘He’s A SHE’ And … POOF! There’s A NEW Female ‘TRACK STAR’

LMAO: Transgendered Strudel Hun Wins WOMEN’S Weightlifting Title

And this one where a biological girl taking testosterone to become male won a championship against other girls:

Watch: TransGendered High School Dudette Wins Wrestling Title – Is This BS?

Just last year the Olympics set out guidelines on how to include transgender athletes into international competition, and it’s rather controversial.

Allowing biological males to compete against biological women in ‘women’s sport’ is perfectly fine says the new World Cycling Champion. As a matter of fact, Professor McKinnon is an ‘expert’ in this very field of study — the new world champion of the UCI Masters Track Cycling Women 35-44 is tweets, ‘I’m an internationally recognized expert on the science and ethics of transgender inclusion in sport.‘

[Editor’s Note: To avoid confusion, and to follow the Associated Press Style Guide for news outlets, Rachel McKinnon, a Ph.D. in Philosophy will be referred to as ‘Professor’ rather than Dr.]This particular individual believes it is ‘discriminatory’ to force transgender women to suppress their natural testosterone.

I swear I’m not making that up.

So, just say you’re a woman and stay a biological male to compete?

McKinnon is also an Olympic hopeful.

But right now, Prof. McKinnon is reveling in the rush of the win.

A biological male who identifies as a transgender woman won a women’s world championship cycling event on Sunday.

Rachel McKinnon, a professor at the College of Charleston, won the women’s sprint 35-39 age bracket at the 2018 UCI Masters Track Cycling World Championships in Los Angeles.

McKinnon, representing Canada, bested Carolien Van Herrikhuyzen of the Netherlands and American cyclist Jennifer Wagner to take home the gold.

McKinnon celebrated the victory on Twitter, writing: “First transgender woman world champion…ever.”

Source: The Daily Caller

Here it is, the pic with the gold medal:

Not fair, you say? Well, according to some transgender activists, that’s just straight-up bigotry.

Earlier this year, McKinnon and another transgender cyclist, Jillian Bearden, were profiled in USA Today to contrast their very different views on testosterone levels when including transgender athletes into sporting competitions. Bearden agrees with the Olympic guidelines that state that biological men with naturally occurring testosterone have a competitive advantage over biological women. McKinnon, however, says that subjecting transgender women to testosterone blockers violates their human rights and ‘furthers the oppression of transgender people.’

In other words, McKinnon is all for using biological men using their natural male hormones to compete against women in a women’s competition.

That is a level of insanity that is beyond words.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Let’s look at some of Professor McKinnon’s words.

McKinnon says whether other competitors believe transgender women have an unfair advantage is irrelevant because she says there is no way to measure if such advantages even exist.

“This is bigger than sports and it’s about human rights,” McKinnon says. “By catering to cisgender people’s views, that furthers transgender people’s oppression. When it comes to extending rights to a minority population, why would we ask the majority? I bet a lot of white people were pissed off when we desegregated sports racially and allowed black people. But they had to deal with it.”

(Emphasis added.)

McKinnon says that it isn’t about what is fair and unfair in the rules — it’s a ‘human rights’ issue.

McKinnon, who teaches a class on ethics and inclusion at Charleston, cites the Olympic charter in saying that sport is a human right.

“We cannot have a woman legally recognized as a trans woman in society,” McKinnon says, “and not be recognized that way in sports. … Focusing on performance advantage is largely irrelevant because this is a rights issue. We shouldn’t be worried about trans people taking over the Olympics. We should be worried about their fairness and human rights instead.”

Source: USA Today, January 11, 2018.

This is just unbelievable.

So, you can just say you’re female now — without any adjustment to hormone levels or surgery or anything and you’re allowed in a women’s competition?

That is insane!

Well, I guess we can kiss women’s sports goodbye thanks to the ‘inclusive’ left.

Where are all the feminists screaming about the ‘patriarchy’?

Oh, right.

They’re getting threatened with violence by trans activists.

You know who else this makes me think of?

Poor Lance Armstrong.

If only he’d known that he could’ve just identified as a woman and won every women’s championship, he might not have resorted to doping. Especially since a study done in 2017 appears to have revealed that the drug didn’t work anyway.

You live and you learn, I guess.

Swedish flotilla lands in Gaza to support Israel, Christians

Reported by Michael F. Haverluck (OneNewsNow.com) | Sunday, October 14, 2018

Palestinian housing Gaza StripA pro-Israeli Swedish flotilla packed with more than 50 evangelical Christians arrived on the shore of Gaza in Israel to counter pro-Palestinian Gaza-bound ships.

The fleet of ships symbolizes the Scandinavian country’s support of Israel in its ongoing conflict with the Islamic terrorist group-led Palestinian government and its people.

“A flotilla of Swedish ships arrived in the Herzliya Marina on Israel’s Mediterranean coast Thursday night – following a roughly month-and-a-half journey from Gothenburg, Sweden,” Israel National News (INN) reported. “Led by the ship ‘Elida’, the flotilla is part of an effort by pro-Israel Evangelical Christians in Sweden to improve their country’s image vis-à-vis the Jewish State.”

Anchoring down for Israel

Elida’s captain, Stefan Abrahamsson – the owner of the yacht and organizer of the trip – pitched his anchor to begin a show of support for Israel over a week and a half – a visit that also seeks to reach solidarity with Middle Eastern Christians.

“It’s great to be here at last,” Abrahamsson proclaimed after docking, according to the Israeli Yediot Ahronot, as reported by INN. “It was wonderful to see all the boats that accompanied us with the flags and music. We will be here for 11 days … we came here because Sweden’s image in Israel is very bad, and we are here to express our sorrow over this.”

He stated Israel’s case in the ongoing controversial Israeli-Palestinian conflict that is often misrepresented by the media, which portrays Palestinians as victims of Israeli oppression and “apartheid” – a message that is readily embraced by many Europeans.

“Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East that is built upon ideals which are central throughout the western world – such as equality; however, Israel is the only country which my country condemns,” Abrahamsson continued. “We are here to tell Israelis: ‘We love you,’ we are standing behind you and want to show our solidarity with you.”

Abrahamsson declared the intention of his voyage to help the persecuted Church in Gaza through a post on social media just before his flotilla embarked a month and a half ago.

“We want to break the silence of the severe persecution and cleansing of the Christian population that is taking place in this region,” the Swedish Christian captain announced on Facebook on August 25. “As the only democracy in the Middle East amid dictatorships, Israel welcomes us on this show of solidarity with human rights, freedom of expression, freedom of religion and fundamental democratic values. In turn, we are taking a stand for the values that Israel stands for.”

A tour of support for Israel

Abrahamsson’s itinerary was jam-packed from the moment his flotilla touched down on Israeli shores.

“The crew and passengers aboard the 131-foot yacht will host visitors every day during their stay,” CBN News reported. “They will also visit the Technion in Haifa – which some call Israel’s MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).”

From Israel’s capital – where President Donald Trump recently moved the United States Embassy to from its previous location in Tel Aviv – to Ashdod, Abrahamsson’s crew will be busy supporting Israel’s government and persecuted Christian population within the Gaza Strip.

“The Israeli Foreign Ministry will host the delegation for lunch in Jerusalem on Sunday, JTA reported,” CBN News’ Tzippe Barrow informed. “For one day, Tuesday, October 16, the Elida will be docked at the Ashdod port.”

Another mission of the flotilla was to garner support from fellow Swedes, who have predominantly taken the pro-Palestinian stance in Israel’s conflict and supported Muslim immigration into Europe in the so-called “refugee crisis.”

“Former Israeli Ambassador to Sweden, Isaac Bachman, called the flotilla a ‘solidarity with Israel marine voyage’ that brought Swedish Christians who love Israel,” Barrow noted. “In Sweden’s political and social climate, he said, it’s uncommon to declare strong support for Israel out loud.”

Appreciation and a warm welcome were expressed for the Swedish Christians taking three-month-plus round trip to show solidarity with Israel.

The other side of Sweden

Another Swedish flotilla to Gaza set sail earlier this year on May 22, but those on board the ships had an anti-Semitic agenda, as it attempted to break through a blockade set by the Israeli Navy in order to support the Palestinians’ ongoing attack and rebellion against Israel.

During the pro-Palestinian demonstration – which reached Gaza in August – Israel took security precautions to make sure the demonstrators did not incite Palestinians to engage in more hostility and violence against the Jewish State.

“Seven Swedish activists detained by the Israeli Navy while attempting to breach its blockade of Gaza [were] deported to Sweden – the organizers of the Ship to Gaza activist flotilla said,” The Times of Israel reported in August. “Israel imposed the blockade following the rise to power in Gaza of Hamas – which is internationally recognized as a terrorist organization and whose charter speaks about killing Jews and destroying Israel.”

During the days surrounding the rebellious Swedish flotilla demonstration, Islamic Palestinian terrorists launched more than 150 rocket attacks at Israel from inside the border of the Gaza Strip.

One pro-Palestinian entertainer participating in the flotilla incited more anti-Semitism in Sweden and Gaza through her inflammatory rhetoric.

“Among the activists aboard the Gaza-bound ship was actress Oldoz Javidi, whose remarks about Israeli Jews during the sail to Swedish media caused an uproar,” The Times of Israel pointed out at the time. “She said that her ‘fantasy’ was to see Israeli Jews ‘transferred’ to the United States and the land being given to Palestinians – whom she said owned it.”

Javidi has a considerable amount of political sway in Sweden, where she is running for office as a leader for an ultra-leftist party. In an attempt at damage control to stem public outrage over her racist remarks, Javidi tried to diffuse the controversy using evasive language.

“Amid accusations of anti-Semitism, Javidi – [who] is a candidate for the Feminist Perspective radical party – retracted the statement, explaining it ‘could be misinterpreted or misunderstood,’” the Israeli daily added.

New charges vs. Colo. Christian baker after his SCOTUS win

Reported by Michael F. Haverluck (OneNewsNow.com) | Sunday, October 14, 2018

Jack Phillips (Colo. baker - concerned look)Renewed discrimination charges against Christian baker Jack Phillips have been waged in federal court – despite his victory in the United States Supreme Court (SCOTUS) this summer allowing him to decline making a pro-LGBT “wedding cake” – as the state of Colorado is now arguing that the replacement of members in its Civil Rights Commission gives it the right to resuscitate its attack.

“Now, the state is issuing new charges against Phillips for refusing to create a cake celebrating a ‘gender transition,’ ignoring evidence that Phillips accepts all customers while refusing to create messages that violate his religious beliefs,” WND reported. “Phillips has responded with a lawsuit contending his constitutional rights have been violated.”

Does Colo. have it all wrong… again?

Before the Supreme Court corrected the Colorado Civil Rights Commission’s (CCRC) ruling – which found that Philips was merely acting upon his religious convictions protected by the U.S. Constitution – the original Colorado panel concluded that his bakery should have been forced to bake a same-sex couple a wedding cake – or be shut down.

“The commission found that Jack Phillips – the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop – discriminated against a same-sex couple by refusing to bake a cake for their wedding,” WND recounted. “The Supreme Court reversed the decision in a 7-2 ruling in June on narrow grounds – concluding the commission did not employ religious neutrality, violating Phillips’ rights to free exercise of religion.”

The controversy is being reignited with a new spin – as the commission is now using a transgender cake instead of a “gay” wedding cake to gain a new brand of sympathy in the name of “equality,” “tolerance” and “anti-discrimination” movement pushing transgenderism.

“The Colorado Civil Rights Commission has been under scrutiny since the Supreme Court ruled in June that it showed ‘clear and impermissible hostility,’ towards Phillips, [as] the high court ruled the commission was wrong for being overtly hostile to him,” CBN News noted. “Phillips argued that he did not discriminate when he refused to bake a gay wedding cake after the commission said he did.”

No – not again …

After its renewed challenge on Masterpiece Cakeshop’s owner, Dr. Dobson Family Policy Institute’s Jenna Ellis argued that CCRC is just proving that it should be dissolved once and for all so that it does not continue to overstep its authority in America’s court system.

“The Colorado Civil Rights Commission is not a court of law,” Ellis told CBN News in an interview. “This is not where you have a judge and a jury and actual due process.”

She said CCRC’s panel merely promotes the political agenda of elected officials in office – who currently advocate special LGBT “rights” and privileges.

“They are a commission that is just appointed by the governor,” the conservative Christian whose organization is based in Colorado explained. “These are commissioners that don’t have to even be attorneys, and what they’re doing is making ‘findings of fact’ and ‘conclusions of law’ outside of due process.”

It was then argued that CCRC simply uses an unfair advantage it has against Phillips to push its pro-LGBT agenda – one that is championed by a majority of commissioners on the panel.

“So Phillips can’t opt out of this commission – he doesn’t have the right to a jury,” Ellis added. “The only thing that they have to do to be appointed as a commissioner is to be part of a traditionally discriminated class.”

In an earlier plea, Dr. James Dobson himself demanded that CCRC should be held accountable and radically changed – if it is allowed to exist.

“The state’s second prosecution of Phillips prompted James Dobson – the noted Christian psychologist and founder of the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute – to call for reform of the commission, decrying the new claim as ‘a continued attack on the First Amendment and religious freedom,’” WND noted.

Bringing the DOJ into it …

More suspicion of CCRC’s recent problematic move abounds, as WND reports that a Colorado congressman recently called upon the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate the state commission for its questionable behavior.

The additional intervention was requested by Rep. Dough Lamborn (R-Colo.), who asked U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions to look into the matter with CCRC.

“Both Mr. Phillips and Masterpiece serve everyone,” Lamborn asserted, according to CBN News. “All people – no matter who they are, what they believe or what protected class they belong to – are welcome in Mr. Phillips’ shop and may purchase anything available for sale, but as a devout Christian, Mr. Phillips cannot create custom cakes the express messages or that celebrate events in conflict with his deeply held religious beliefs.”

The congressman went on to press his argument that the government should not be allowed to quash the creativity and religious rights of Phillips just to bulldoze forward the LGBT agenda.

“We are stronger as a nation because of the societal contribution of religious Americans like Jack Phillips,” Lamborn continued. “Mr. Phillips and other creative professionals should not be targeted by the government for living consistently with their deeply held beliefs just because an agency director or the government doesn’t like those beliefs.”

After SCOTUS justices scolded the state of Colorado for its “hostility” toward Phillips and other Christians, CCRC jumped back on the saddle and is upping its attack on the already beleaguered baker and trying to justify its new charges.

“But Colorado officials now are asking the court to dismiss Phillips’ claims against them, arguing that since the old members of the commission are gone, the new ones have a restored authority to prosecute Phillips,” WND pointed out. “The state argued the complaint ‘does not allege that any commissioner who is named as a defendant here was also serving as a commissioner when the commission finally decided the 2012 discrimination charge and defended that decision in the Masterpiece I appeals.’”

The bakery owner countered his state with strong arguments of his own, which were naturally discounted by CCRC.

“Phillips’ lawsuit cites the fact that the commission refused to prosecute several homosexual bakers who were given permission to refuse to create a cake with a Bible message that violated their beliefs,” WND added. “But the state says those decisions also were made by previous commissioners, so it should have no ramification on the state’s current prosecution of Phillips.”

The state of Colorado essentially believes and argues that it is above the law.

“The civil rights commission insisted it has immunity to claims for damages, [as it] claims it can order people to violate their faith through its orders to ban ‘discrimination in all places of public accommodation,’ but it doesn’t address the fact that Phillips repeatedly has confirmed he will serve all customers, but has a First Amendment right to free speech,” WND informed. “The commission finding equates ‘products,’ which all persons must be given access to, with ‘messages,’ which are protected by the First Amendment – [and it] argues over and over that it can escape liability because its members changed.”

Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Kristen Waggoner – whose nonprofit Christian legal firm worked on Phillips’ behalf – explained how CCRC is overtly refusing to accept what SCOTUS has already determined.

“[The state] is ignoring the message of the U.S. Supreme Court by continuing to single out Jack for punishment and to exhibit hostility toward his religious beliefs, Waggoner argued, according to WND. “Even though Jack serves all customers and simply declines to create custom cakes that express messages or celebrate events in violation of his deeply held beliefs, the government is intent on destroying him – something the Supreme Court has already told it not to do.”

Listen to the nation’s highest court already …

SCOTUS’s June ruling on the matter in favor of Masterpiece Cakeshop clearly makes the argument for Phillips to bake and run his business according to his own sincerely held religious beliefs – without fear of punishment by the government.

“The laws and the Constitution can – and in some instances must – protect gay persons and gay couples in the exercise of their civil rights, but religious and philosophical objections to gay marriage are protected views, and in some instances protected forms of expression,” the SCOTUS decision reads. “While it is unexceptional that Colorado law can protect gay persons in acquiring products and services on the same terms and conditions as are offered to other members of the public, the law must be applied in a manner that is neutral toward religion.”

Recently outgoing SCOTUS Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy – who was recently replaced by SCOTUS Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh – sided with Phillips in the ruling.

“Justice Anthony Kennedy said when the Colorado Civil Rights Commission made its decision, ‘it did not do so with the religious neutrality that the Constitution requires,’” Fox News recounted“The opinion says the Commission ‘violated the Free Exercise Clause – and its order must be set aside.’”

Commentary: “You don’t support Trump? Neither did I, until …”

Commentary by Dr. Michael L. Brown – Guest Columnist | Monday, October 15, 2018 | http://www.askdrbrown.org/

Michael BrownWhat’s changing the minds of some formerly Never Trumpers? How is it that today, despite my ongoing concerns about some of the president’s message and methods, I’m hoping for a red wave in the midterms?

I’m reading about more and more former people like Erick Erickson. They were once Never Trumpers, but they would vote for him in 2020 if he runs again. What’s changing their minds?

I too once opposed Donald Trump. I didn’t like his past. I didn’t trust his intentions. His character, to me, was highly suspect. I had no idea what he really believed or stood for. And I certainly questioned if his outreach to evangelical Christian leaders was sincere. Wasn’t he just using them, as others had in the past?

To be totally honest, I had actually forgotten just how deeply I disliked him when he was a Republican primary candidate. But when editing my new book on Trump, which includes 90 Trump-related articles from August 2015 to August 2018, I realized just how much of a problem I used to have with this highly controversial figure.

You see, most of us remember the past through the filter of the present. It’s like the man who says to his wife after 30 years of marriage, “I want a divorce. The truth is, I never really loved you.”

His present attitude has clearly distorted the facts of the past.

It was the same with me and Donald Trump. It was only while re-reading my articles written about him during the primaries that I remembered just how much I did not want to see him win.

And, to be brutally honest, since I had endorsed Ted Cruz and Trump was his main opposition, on some level, even subconsciously, I must have looked at Trump as the competitor. So, just like you root for your home team and against the opposition, I rooted for Cruz and against Trump.

How did I go from that attitude to rooting for him and voting for him? How is it that today, despite my ongoing concerns about some of the president’s message and methods, I’m hoping for a red wave in the midterms? (For the record, I’m registered as an Independent but consistently vote Republican, especially because of key social issues.)

Let’s think about what is changing the minds of some formerly Never Trumpers:

  • The Kavanaugh hearings revealed just how intense and ugly the opposition can be.

  • The Democrat-inspired mobocracy is deeply disturbing.

  • The radicality of the pro-abortion movement has been unveiled for all to see, along with the radicality of the extreme feminist movement.

  • The outright hostility of the leftwing media has revealed their depth of antipathy, not just to Trump but to conservative values in general.

  • The emergence of die-hard socialist candidates has made our choices more stark.

  • It’s even increasingly hard to deny that some kind of “deep state” exists.

On the positive side, Trump has done a great job with the economy. He is doing better against ISIS and Islamic terrorism. He has proven to be a true friend to Israel. He has made some positive progress with hostile countries. He is absolutely keeping his promises about Supreme Court and federal court nominees. And he has proven sincere in his commitment to stand with evangelical Christians.

In my case, there were several factors that led to a change of thinking, all of which can be followed in the chronological reprinting of the 90 aforementioned articles included in my book.

  • First, I always said that if it was Trump vs. Hillary, I would reevaluate my opposition to him.
  • Second, prophetic words from friends of mine saying that God had raised up Trump like a Cyrus-type figure (a foreign king who was not a worshiper of Yahweh) had me asking the whole time, “Am I wrong here?”
  • Third, the fact that he struck a chord with so many Americans got my attention.
  • Fourth, the fact that he beat so many fine Republican candidates suggested strongly to me that there was a supernatural wind in his sails.
  • Fifth, close friends of mine who were respected evangelical leaders spent lots of time with him and assured me that he was open and listening.
  • Sixth, his positions became more consistent, leading me to believe (or at least hope) that he would keep his word, hence my vote for him.

Now while I certainly do not support his every word and deed, I must say as president he is doing the things I hoped he would do if elected.

Would it be great if he would be a good role model too? Absolutely.

Do I often wish that he could unify more people behind him? Certainly.

But am I glad I voted for him? Without a doubt.

And, as I’ve often said, if it were Trump vs. Hillary today, I’d vote for him without any hesitation.

Perhaps this analogy will prove helpful.

There are a bunch of pit bulls with rabies terrorizing a neighborhood and biting the children. But there is no town dog catcher, and kids are suffering and dying.

Two candidates emerge.

One is the nicest guy in the world. He’s happily married with great kids, and you’ll never hear a foul word from him. But he can’t even catch a fly. The guy is hopeless.

The other candidate is as nasty as they come. His three ex-wives hate him. He curses like a drunken sailor. But the guy can catch a dog with his teeth.

For whom would you vote?

That’s where many formerly Never Trumpers are today. The stakes are that high, and he’s the man for the job. A great role model would be a wonderful plus. It’s just not in the cards right now.

So, let’s keep standing with President Trump, both in prayer and in face-to-face support, helping him become a better man. And let’s make our voices and votes heard for the good of the nation. The political stakes are really that high.

Pastor Brunson: Lord, give Trump wisdom, endurance, courage

Reported by Jody Brown (OneNewsNow.com) | Monday, October 15, 2018

Andrew Brunson praying over TrumpOne day after being released from house arrest in Turkey, American pastor Andrew Brunson was in the Oval Office, where he prayed over President Donald Trump.

After spending nearly two years in jail and then some time under house arrest, Brunson was freed on Friday by a Turkish court despite the fact that the court found the pastor guilty on terrorism charges. Within hours he was spirited away, taken by military aircraft to Germany where he was examined at a U.S. military hospital then flown to the U.S.

On Saturday, the just-released evangelical pastor and his family were hosted at the White House by President Trump. “From a Turkish prison to the White House in 24 hours – that’s not bad,” the president stated.

Brunson thanked the president for helping secure his release. “We pray for you often as a family, my wife and I pray for you. You really fought for us, unusually so,” the 50-year-old pastor told Trump. “From the time you took office, we know that you’ve been engaged.”

The president deflected the praise to many other elected and administration officials in attendance, including Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and several U.S. senators and representatives. After thanking them as well for their efforts, Pastor Brunson prayed over the president, requesting that he be blessed with “supernatural wisdom.”

“I ask that you pour out Your Holy Spirit on President Trump, that You give him supernatural wisdom to accomplish all the plans You have for this country,” he prayed. “I ask that You give him wisdom in how to lead this country into righteousness. I ask that You give him perseverance and endurance and courage to stand for truth.”

Trump a ‘course correction’

David Curry, president and CEO of Open Doors USA, tells OneNewsNow that he’s pleased – and relieved – with the news of Brunson’s release.

“It’s been long overdue but we’re grateful for it nonetheless,” Curry shares. “Very thankful that the president was able to see the value in making human rights a priority – and really, by putting strong sanctions on Turkey around the religious freedom of Pastor Brunson I think [Trump] expedited his release.”

Curry continues: “I applaud President Trump for the unrelenting pressure his administration applied to Turkey on this matter, in part through tariffs and sanctions. The president has rightly recognized that economic leverage can help bring positive change for human rights and can convey a powerful message of solidarity with oppressed religious minorities, especially persecuted Christians. In this case, it worked and was helpful in the release of an American Christian.”

David Brody, CBN’s White House correspondent, writes in an op-ed for USA Today that Brunson’s release from Turkey is the latest example of President Trump’s commitment to upholding traditional Judeo-Christian principles:

“Picking his Supreme Court justices is the generational cornerstone of a much larger change. In the evangelical world, whether it’s moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, actively upholding religious liberty, eagerly encouraging pro-life policies, or standing strong for the Judeo-Christian values that made America the best country in the world, Trump is seen as an instrument in a much needed American course correction.”

Evidently that’s not just Brody’s opinion. He says he hears it “all the time” in his reporting, interviews, and comments. “The majority of evangelicals think God has raised up Trump to be president at this time in America’s history,” he writes.

Protester Asks GOP Senator To ‘Apologize’ To Her Children — His Response Makes Her Angry

Reported by Benny Johnson | Reporter At Large | 12:38 PM 10/12/2018 | Politics

Anti-Brett Kavanaugh protesters flooded Capitol Hill for weeks before his eventual confirmation to the Supreme Court, walking hallways in protest, holding loud demonstrations and confronting senators in their office buildings.

One such protester named Alethea Torrellas Shapiro had been attempting to harass senators on the Hill for days and regularly used her school-aged children to do so.

Shapiro is an activist who calls extremist feminist activist Linda Sarsour her hero and regularly goes on profanity-laced tirades against GOP senators like Chuck Grassley.

After Kavanaugh’s confirmation, Shapiro wrote a public post on Facebook describing how she intended to use her four young children to shame “these horrible atrocious men” in the Senate “now that they confirmed Kavanaugh.” She writes:

Tomorrow I plan on birddogging in the Senate hallways and basement with all 4 of my kids (my daughters are 12, 10 and my boys are 5, 3). I went these horrible atrocious men to see the faces of the future that they are ruining and to know the tremendous pain women and men are feeling now that they confirmed Kavanaugh. So if you have 1-2 lines for me to tell them, or a message what should I say??? I need help! I also want to address their Kavanaugh confirmation so what do I say…

One of the senators Shapiro approached was Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana. Cassidy has made a name for himself shucking off protesters and throwing their arguments back at them. (RELATED: Anti-Kavanaugh Protester Confronts GOP Senator – He Pushes Back)

Shapiro caught Cassidy as he was walking at a brisk pace in a Senate office building. She asked, “Sen. Cassidy, can you please apologize to my children for ruining their futures?”

The senator turned to the kids, removed his earbuds and said, “Hey, guess what. … I know your parents are using you as tools.”

“No, we’re not using them as tools. We’re not using them as tools,” Shapiro interrupted.

Cassidy concluded, “But in the future, if somebody makes an allegation against you, and there’s no proof for it, you will be OK. Thank you.”

He then walked away.

Shapiro could be heard yelling at Cassidy at the end of the video, saying, “Shame on you for not believing women and for ruining my daughters’ lives.”

In Tight Race, Tenn. Dem’s Own Staff Says He’s Lying To Get Votes

Reported By Karista Baldwin | October 11, 2018 at 11:33am

James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas’ undercover reporting just exposed the double-dealing tactics that Tennessee Democratic candidate Phil Bredesen is using in his 2018 election campaign for the U.S Senate. The group released damning undercover video footage of staffers from Bredesen’s campaign revealing that Bredesen is not above lying to voters to get elected. And his staff has no problem helping him get away with it.

On Friday, Bredesen voiced support for Judge Brett Kavanaugh and said that he wanted him on the Supreme Court, according to The Washington Post. This, according to Bredesen’s own staffers, is a total lie.

On the Project Veritas video, a man identified as Will Stewart, a field organizer for Bredesen’s campaign, was asked if Bredesen “would actually vote yes” on Kavanaugh’s confirmation if he were in the Senate. Stewart quickly set things straight.

“Oh, he wouldn’t,” Stewart said. “But he’s saying he would.” (“It’s politics,” another campaign staffer added.)

“Which, I don’t know if it makes it worse or better,” Stewart continued. “No, it makes it better.”

“I don’t understand what’s to gain by saying yes,” the undercover Project Veritas journalist prodded.

“Moderates,” Stewart said.

“Moderate Republicans,” another staffer agreed.

The duplicitous strategy seems to be common knowledge among Bredesen’s staff.

A woman identified as Maria Amalla, another field organizer, responded to why Bredesen would lie about supporting Kavanaugh, saying, “Yeah, because it’s a political move and he’s trying to make up those points.”

“I guess we won’t know until November 6th whether or not this was worth it,” she said.

Apparently, lying was the only way Bredesen could see himself beating Marsha Blackburn.

“We’re down eight points and it also said that … 74 percent of Tennesseans wanted to see Kavanaugh confirmed. Logically, based on those numbers and what I’ve seen, is that he had already known that the gap between him and her has grown more,” Amalla said, referring to Blackburn.

“And so he thought that by coming out in support that it would get more Republicans on his side. He wasn’t doing as well in the rural parts … He thinks that by saying this he’s appealing to more moderate Republicans and he’ll get more of them to vote for us,” Amalla continued.

Bredesen doesn’t hold much respect for the people he wants to represent, with Stewart agreeing that Bredesen can get away with his tactics because Tennesseans are “ignorant.”

The Project Veritas journalist also talked to a man identified as James Miller of “voter protection” on Bredesen’s staff. “I think it’s important to just remind yourself that it’s just a political move, right?” the journalist asked him.

“Yeah.  But isn’t that gross?” Miller said, lowering his voice. “That’s the way it has to go.”

“I just hate that he has to like … lie to get that vote,” the journalist said.

“I know. I know. Tell me about it.  Unfortunately, that’s reality,” Miller agreed.

Another field organizer, identified as Delaney Brown, said she hoped that all the deception at least pays off in the election.

“I know I’m going to be p—ed if this doesn’t pay off,” she said in the video.  “If we lose, I’m going to be so mad.  Because not only did he forfeit a lot of moral high ground … if it’d still lose, if it’s by a small margin, that’s the base.”

But campaign staffers assured the reporter that Bredesen’s just pulling a bait and switch. Fear not! His staff says that once Bredesen gets in office, he won’t feel any obligation to follow through with his campaign promises, since he doesn’t plan on running for re-election again anyway. Phew.

“He’s not going to be running for re-election. He can get in there and do the right thing,” Stewart said. “Between you and me, once Phil actually gets into the Senate, he’ll be a good Democrat.”

Right … once Bredesen’s elected he’ll “do the right thing.” No reason to jump the gun and act ethically while he’s campaigning.

“Once you’re in, six years, you’re going to do the right thing,” Miller also said. He agreed that Bredesen would be a good Democrat, saying, “100 percent. Always has been.”

Stewart also said that despite orders not to act as if Democrats are simply running against Trump, that’s actually pretty much the point.

“We don’t say that out of these walls. But here, of course, we talk about that,” Stewart said. “Cause it’s so funny. The messaging is like, ‘don’t talk about the blue wave. We’re not running against Trump.’ All this sort of stuff. Even though that’s all why we’re all here.  We can’t put it out there.”

Stewart then added that Bredesen “hates Trump.”

But if Democrats want to beat Republicans, they could learn a thing or two from them. Stop looking down on the people you need to vote you and show them respect instead, starting with not blatantly lying to them to try to con them into supporting you.

Also, if you do need to con people to get them to vote for you, maybe re-evaluate some of what you actually stand for.

I’m with Bredesen’s staff on this one in one respect — it’s just plain gross.

American pastor freed; ‘tenacious’ Trump team thanked

Reported by Jody Brown (OneNewsNow.com) | Friday, October 12, 2018

Andrew Brunson released (Oct 2018)An American pastor who has been held in prison by the Turkish government for two years should be on his way home to the U.S. by the end of the day.

The bottom line: Pastor Andrew Brunson, a North Carolina native, is free to leave Turkey and return home. In his own words today: “This is the day our family has been praying for – I am delighted to be on my way home to the United States. My entire family thanks the president, the administration, and Congress for their unwavering support.” (Image shows Brunson arriving at home on Friday after his release.)

Brunson, 50, had suffered for his faith in prison and then house arrest at the hands of Turkey, America’s NATO ally, since October 2016. During a hearing today, a Turkish court convicted him on an alleged “terror charge” before releasing him; a charge of espionage against him was dropped. He had faced charges that could have resulted in 35 years in prison.

Family Research Council president Tony Perkins attended today’s hearing this morning.

“The prayers of thousands were answered today when Pastor Brunson was released by the Turkish government and told he could go home to the United States. Those prayers – combined with the unwavering resolve of President Trump, Vice President Pence, Secretary Pompeo and Ambassador Brownback – brought tangible help to Pastor Brunson and hope to those around the globe who are being persecuted because of their faith.

“Pastor Brunson was also well represented legally by our friends at the American Center for Law and Justice,” Perkins adds, “and we commend them and their attorneys for the outstanding work they did on behalf of Pastor Brunson.”

The American Center for Law and Justice had been working in the U.S. and abroad to secure Brunson’s release. “President Trump and his team have been tenacious in seeking the release of Pastor Brunson,” says Jay Sekulow, chief counsel of the ACLJ.

“We’re grateful to the President, members of Congress and diplomatic leaders who continued to put pressure on Turkey to secure the freedom of Pastor Brunson. The fact that he is now on a plane to the United States can only be viewed as a significant victory for Pastor Brunson and his family.”

Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, president and CEO of National Religious Broadcasters, also is crediting the Trump administration for its role in obtaining the pastor’s release. He singles out the president, Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Ambassador Sam Brownback, and Senator Thom Tillis (R-North Carolina). “[They] refused to take ‘no’ for an answer for this man’s release,” says Johnson. “This administration stayed true to its citizen.”

“May the Lord strengthen Pastor Brunson and his family as they work to turn the page on this difficult chapter in their lives,” Johnson adds. “And may God protect and give peace to our other brothers and sisters in Christ who continue to endure hardships and severe persecution around the world because of their faith in Him. Let us never forget them!”

Dede Laugesen, director of Save the Persecuted Christians, strikes a similar tone in her remarks today.

“This has been a long road of persecution for Pastor Andrew Brunson,” says Laugesen. “We are joyful and so thankful for Pastor Brunson’s long-awaited freedom. We praise God for this wonderful turn of events and thank the many people who worked on his behalf, including high-ranking officials within the Trump administration and influential and committed attorneys.

“Despite the joy we feel today, we must never forget there are millions of Christians who are not free to believe in Christ. Many remain jailed, persecuted in their own communities or even shunned in their own homes. We pray all will someday experience the freedom Andrew Brunson is savoring today.”

Background

Today’s was the fourth hearing of the case against Brunson. The evangelical pastor had been accused of terror-related charges and espionage, facing up to 35 years in jail if convicted. Brunson, who had lived in Turkey for more than two decades, rejected the charges and strongly maintained his innocence. He was one of thousands caught up in a wide-scale government crackdown that followed a failed coup against the Turkish government in July 2016.

Prosecutors accused Brunson of committing crimes on behalf of terror groups, linking him to outlawed Kurdish militants and a network led by a U.S.-based Turkish cleric who is accused of orchestrating the coup attempt. The U.S. maintained he was being held unjustly and had repeatedly called for his release.

Brunson told the court he is “an innocent man. I love Jesus. I love Turkey.” He again denied accusations that his church – a small congregation in the Izmir Resurrection Church – aided Kurdish militants, saying he had handed over a list of Syrian refugees whom the congregation had helped and adding that Turkish authorities would have identified any terrorists.

“We helped everyone, Kurds, Arabs, without showing any discrimination,” he said.

William Devlin, an evangelical pastor from New York spoke to reporters outside the Turkish prison, saying hundreds of thousands of Christians were praying for Brunson’s release.

Antifa Shut Down Major Intersection, Threaten Citizens with Violence If They Don’t Obey

Reported By Jack Davis | October 8, 2018 at 5:48pm

Antifa protesters holding a vigil for a man shot to death by Portland police made it clear Saturday that they were taking over, and there was no room for anything else but obedience to mob rule.

The raw violence was captured by Brandon Farley, who in his Twitter profile says he captures “disruptive events in downtown Portland, Oregon.”

Warning: the following embedded videos contain strong language.

At one point, protesters blocked off an intersection as though they were the police and refused to let drivers pass.

A woman, asked by a driver why traffic was rerouted, had no time to explain.

“Because I told you to,” she said.

Various videos posted to Twitter show protesters threatening elderly drivers who did not understand what was going on.

Antifa protesters swarmed one car when it did not comply.

“Yeah brother, yeah you little white little f—er,” said one protester. “The First Amendment. Get the f— down the road.”

In the video, he appeared to notice that the car was registered in North Carolina and called the driver a “little white supremacist.”

“Go back to North Carolina where you came from. We don’t need your KKK in Portland, Oregon,” the protester said.

Meanwhile, drivers were frazzled.
“I’m in the middle of the intersection and (the protesters) are blocking traffic,” one confused driver says into his phone.
“We’re not here to riot. We’re here for justice,” said Charles Kimmons, who is related to victim Patrick Kimmons, according to Oregon Live. “We need to fight this all the way to the end. These cops need to be locked up.”

Police have said that Patrick Kimmons was shot at about 3 a.m. on Sept. 30 when police, responding to a call of a shooting, encountered Kimmons, who was armed.

Antifa has been on a rampage in Portland since June, when protesters blocked the offices of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and neither city officials nor police did anything to help the federal workers targeted.

Violence Escalates, Another Pro-Life Woman Physically Attacked After Engaging in Civil Debate

Reported By Savannah Pointer | October 10, 2018 at 4:00pm

For the second time in as many days, an altercation between pro-life and abortion rights protesters ended in violence directed against the pro-life demonstrators.  video uploaded by Toronto Against Abortion starts with what appears to be a civil conversation that took place Oct. 1 between two people from opposing sides of the issue. It was interrupted by someone physically attacking one the pro-life demonstrators. The video appears to consist of footage from several cameras that the pro-life demonstrators were wearing.”

See video footage here:

The attack, which appeared to be originally targeting the pro-life speaker heard on camera, eventually was carried out on a woman beside him, identified as Katie Somers by Life News, who retreated quickly.

“Blaise Alleyne, one of the pro-life team members, said they were engaged in civil discussion with several of the counter-protesters when one of them, allegedly Gabby Skwarko, became hostile,” Life News reported.

The attacker, a young woman, threw things, shoved, hit, grabbed and even wrenched away part of the victim’s items attached to their backpack.

“She chased after me, grabbed my full, stainless steel water bottle and smashed it on the ground, then grabbed my backpack, yanking me back and forth,” Somers told Life News. “I yelled, ‘Get away from me!’ And she came after me and shoved me.”

Other protesters on the street stepped in and blocked the attacker from continuing to act out her rage, but not before the suspect made contact with the victim several times. After noticing that she was being videotaped, the attacker came up to the person with the camera, shoving her chest out in a threatening manner, asking if she was being filmed.

“She then moved on to Blaise, bumping him in the chest with hers and saying, ‘Let’s go, are you filming me? Let’s do this!’” said Somers.

The attacker also threw a metal dolly at a group of pro-lifers, which according to Somers, suggested that she intended harm to others.

“The possibility of self defense was gone for me the moment she used the metal cart as a weapon,” Somers told LifeNews. “At that point I was terrified of having my teeth broken, being concussed, or worse, and my priority was to get away and to safety.”

Skwarko is reportedly a member of the Ryerson Reproductive Justice Collective and a former faculty of arts director at the Ryerson Students Union. This was the second incident of a similar nature to take place in the Toronto area in as many days.

The Conservative Tribune reported on an incident that took place Sept. 30 where another abortion rights advocate roundhouse kicked a pro-life advocate while in the middle of a discussion about abortion.

“According to a police news release, Jordan Hunt, 26, of Toronto, surrendered to police shortly after a video of him kicking a pro-life protester was posted online,” the Conservative Tribune reported.

The kick, which seemed unexpected due to the conversation surrounding it, appeared to be in response to a question that Hunt couldn’t answer.

After kicking the pro-life advocate, Hunt seemed to immediately regret his decision, saying, “I meant to kick your phone.”

Hunt was charged with eight counts of assault and seven counts of mischief. It was the second time he had been charged with assaulting someone at a political rally in the past year.

He has been ordered to stay at least 500 meters away from any “organized pro-life demonstration,” according to LifeSite News.

Today’s Ann Coulter Letter: “GOP Needs Update to Dems’ UFC Cage Match Rules”

Commentary by Ann Coulter  |

It’s time to update the GOP’s Marquess of Queensbury Rules.

If you saw Ruth Bader Ginsburg at Brett Kavanaugh’s swearing-in ceremony, you know that we may need to fill her seat in about 4 1/2 minutes. Naturally, I hope she lives to be 300 — although parenthetically, it seems she already has.

The confirmation hearings for Kavanaugh made Robert Bork’s hearings look like a day at the beach. At least liberals only lied about Bork’s judicial philosophy. They didn’t accuse him of being Ted Bundy. The next nomination hearing will make Kavanaugh’s look like an ice cream social. Just because it didn’t work this time doesn’t mean Republicans’ work is done. They have to make sure this never happens again.

Democrats are already pushing the idea that Kavanaugh’s confirmation was somehow illegitimate because of the shoddy FBI investigation. Liberals’ beef is that the FBI neglected to interview Kavanaugh’s former Yale classmates, who dispute his characterization of precisely how big a drinker he was in college.

I wouldn’t say he was a belligerent drunk, but more of an obstreperous drunk.

No, no! I would say he was a mild drunk with periods of obstreperousness.

This is not the stuff of perjury prosecutions.

Of course, if true, it’s HUGE. Kavanaugh’s demeanor when drunk in college sounds nearly as awful as liberals’ behavior when sober — obnoxious, aggressive and argumentative. I refer you to the recent antics we’ve seen on Capitol Hill, as well as anywhere Ted Cruz stops in for a bite.

Since none of the FBI’s latest report on Kavanaugh has leaked, the one thing we can be sure of is that the agents turned up nothing unfavorable on him. Except for a colonoscopy, I think we’re done with Kavanaugh.

It’s the accusers who have skirted investigation. Even Republicans have moved on. He’s on the court, so who cares if Kavanaugh was falsely accused of “rape” in front of his little girls?

That’s what everyone thought when the falsely accused Duke lacrosse players were proved innocent and the D.A. was disbarred. Why go after the accuser? Hasn’t she suffered enough?

Crystal Mangum was not prosecuted for falsely charging she was gang-raped. And see? No harm, no foul! She went on to live a happy and productive — oh, wait! The next time we heard about Mangum was when she stabbed her boyfriend to death.

On reflection, it certainly seems possible that Kavanaugh accuser Julie Swetnick was not being completely, 100 percent honest in her sworn statements about repeatedly attending high school parties in the 1980s, when she was a college student, where underage girls were drugged and gang-raped.

Deborah Ramirez’s three-decade-old, unsubstantiated, recovered memory of a drunken Kavanaugh exposing himself as a college freshman is the sort of charge that makes feminists laugh! (I know that from reading Gloria Steinem’s explanation in The New York Times that Gov. Bill Clinton summoning a female underling to his hotel room, dropping his pants and saying, “Kiss it!” did not rise to the level of sexual harassment. He took “no” for an answer!)

Perhaps Republicans could get Steinem to explain under oath why it’s acceptable for a sitting governor to do what is disqualifying for a drunk college freshman to do.

While no one would question the word of a living saint like Christine Blasey Ford, some parts of her testimony demand the clarity that can be obtained only in a formal legal proceeding — such as her trauma-induced need for two front doors (when the second front door seems clearly attached to a rental apartment); her fear of flying (but only when it will delay a confirmation hearing); and her claim that she never helped anyone prepare for a polygraph (contradicted by her ex-live-in boyfriend); among other things.

Pretending they are the wronged ones, liberals keep yipping about Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland. They believe any attack on Kavanaugh was justified after the dirty trick pulled by Republicans on Garland.

The Republicans’ refusal to hold hearings on Garland has been called an “unprecedented obstruction” (MSNBC’s Chris Hayes), a “violation of traditions in norms” (Hayes again), an “insult and injury” (Sen. Cory Booker) and “remarkable and unprecedented” (MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow). The GOP’s treatment of Garland showed their “hypocrisy on Brett Kavanaugh” (MSNBC’s Ari Melber).

The truth is apparently a big secret, inasmuch as even Republicans aren’t saying it. You’ll read it here for the first time.

The Republicans’ wily, underhanded, double-dealing trick with Garland was this: Win a majority of seats in the U.S. Senate! I know liberals won’t read the Constitution, but can they do math? Garland didn’t have the votes.

Republicans had 54 seats and, in 2016, Senate rules still required 60 votes for Supreme Court appointments. Democrats would have needed 14 Republican senators to switch sides to confirm a Democratic president’s nominee.

There was no way that was happening. A Republican Senate simply wasn’t going to give “consent” to any Democratic nominee eight months before a presidential election — even an election that everyone thought Hillary was going to win. The Constitution says “advice and consent,” not “advice and rubber-stamp.”

There was nothing “unprecedented” about a Republican Senate rejecting a Democratic nominee — other than the fact that Republicans were the ones doing it. Democrats do it all the time.

That’s how we got Justice Anthony Kennedy — whom Kavanaugh replaced: A Democratic Senate rejected Reagan nominee Robert Bork. That’s also how we got Harry Blackmun, author of the ridiculously lawless Roe v. Wade: A Democratic Senate rejected Richard Nixon’s previous nominees Clement Haynsworth and G. Harrold Carswell.

It would have been a waste of time and only humiliated Garland to hold hearings. At least Republicans didn’t accuse him of gang rape.

Which Do You Think America Spends More On, Border Security, Or Childbirth Costs Of Illegals?

Reported by Wes Walker |

There is more than one way of keeping that promise of making Mexico pay the costs of the wall. For example, we could stop incentivizing illegals to come over the border and have their kids here — at our expense.

As it happens, that expense is considerable. By ‘considerable’, I mean, ‘more than we’re paying to build the wall’.

Americans are paying more to cover the costs of illegal immigrants having children in the United States than Congress plans to give President Trump in border wall funding this year, according to an explosive new analysis of Census Bureau data.

The new report reveals that women in the United States illegally had 297,000 children in 2014 at a cost of $2.4 billion.

That is $800 million more than the Senate has approved for Trump’s border wall this year and enough to pay for the wall over 10 years.
Source: Washington Examiner

Add that information to the fact that the number of illegals in America are far higher than anyone had previously claimed:

Our conservative estimate is 16.7 million for 2016, nearly fifty percent higher than the most prominent current estimate of 11.3 million, which is based on survey data and thus different sources and methods. The mean estimate based on our simulation analysis is 22.1 million, essentially double the current widely accepted estimate.
Source: Cato

And suddenly all those claims of illegal immigration being a ‘net benefit’ to the economy look pretty lame indeed. By these numbers, the expense of one single year’s worth of illegal immigrants having babies here in America would more than pay for the wall. Suddenly, ‘making Mexico pay for it’ looks a lot easier.

Add a change to the law that only the children of mothers lawfully present in America are granted US citizenship, and we might be well on our way to having sensible immigration priorities again.

‘F*** the Bible Voters’: Democratic Fundraiser Crosses Every Line Imaginable

Reported By Lisa Payne-Naeger | October 9, 2018 at 10:40am

Democratic candidates Colin Allred, left, and Amy McGrath are running in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District and Texas’ 32nd District, respectively.

Democratic candidates Colin Allred, left, and Amy McGrath are running in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District and Texas’ 32nd District, respectively. (Colin Allred / Facebook; Amy McGrath / Facebook)

That’s it. I have come to the personal conclusion that liberals have completely lost their marbles.

This story reminds me of my mother trying to teach me as a young child that we are judged by the company we keep. I didn’t understand it then, but I certainly understand it now, especially as it applies in the world of politics.

However, that lesson is completely lost on the left.

The Washington Examiner published a piece by Ryan Girdusky on Monday that clearly illustrates that reality.

As he wrote, the Democrats have their sights set on overturning some Republican congressional districts in the November midterm elections by convincing voters their supposedly moderate candidates hold dear the center-right values of the voting demographic.

However, Democratic campaigns in Texas and Kentucky have teamed up with a motivational speaker “who has a history of hostile rhetoric and negative views of middle America,” Girdusky wrote.

That can’t possibly play well in those states.

“Retired Lt. Col. Amy McGrath and former Tennessee Titans linebacker Colin Allred are running in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District and Texas’ 32nd District, respectively,” he wrote. “Both candidates have been campaigning as centrists, and neither have endorsed extreme positions like, for example, abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement. But despite their carefully crafted images, they have been working with far-left-wing activist and motivational speaker Laura Gassner Otting.”

And while her background seems harmless enough for a liberal, it hardly tells the entire story.

“According to her website, Otting is a professional motivational speaker who ‘helps innovators, idealists, and critics get “unstuck” in their thinking.’ Before becoming a motivational speaker, she was a political appointee for the Bill Clinton White House and then worked for several nonprofits,” Girdusky wrote.

Here’s where it gets sticky for Otting and Democrats.

Nothing ever dies completely on the internet. It never goes away. Girdusky found some old Facebook posts where Otting emotionally up-chucks all over conservatives and everything they stand for. How is she going to paint Democratic candidates as centrists when she holds core beliefs that are diametrically opposed to her target audiences?

The Examiner posted screen shots of some of her vile rants, explicit language and all. Her disdain for those who didn’t support Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is apparent in this post from August 2017.

“F— the patriarchy,” she began.

“F— the white males standing by in silence.

“F— the bible voters who looked away and believed the worst rumors about her instead of facing up to the worst facts about him.

“F— those who think they are being ‘replaced’ because they have to, for the first time in their privileged lives, compete with people who spend their days being twice, thrice, and four times as good to still just get table scraps.

“And f— those who didn’t vote, stayed out of the fray, considered themselves non-political, or couldn’t bring themselves to vote ‘for the lesser of two evils.’”

After Donald Trump won the election in November 2016, she went into a rant against “sexist” and “racist” America.

“So, America wants major change?” Otting wrote. “But, also overwhelmingly sent every ineffective male Republican incumbent back to the House and Senate? Don’t tell me this isn’t about misogyny.

“It turns out hate trumps love after all.

“Side note: who knew that America was even more sexist than racist? And jeez, it is racist.”

Girdusky connected the dots and noted that while Otting holds deeply disdainful feelings about conservatives and middle America, she held fundraisers for candidates Allred and McGrath at her home on June 25 and Sept. 25, respectively.

Girdusky said he attempted to reach out to the Allred and McGrath campaigns for an explanation, but representatives failed to return his calls.

Maybe the lesson here for Democrats is to be smarter about portraying themselves as something they aren’t. Americans are on to them.

Hillary Uses Absurd Sexual Assault Double Standard To Defend Bill

Commentary By Cillian Zeal | October 9, 2018 at 12:41pm

Hillary Clinton isn’t letting go of her loss to Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election. That’s not necessarily unexpected.

What’s somewhat unexpected is the new battleground on which she wants this contest fought: sexual misconduct allegations.

You’ve probably already guessed why this is problematic, given that her husband spent the vast majority of the 1990s racking up allegations of rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment and inappropriate relationships with subordinates, to say nothing of his record of adultery. (At least that was consensual, after all.)

Meanwhile, Trump has the “Access Hollywood” tape and a bunch of accusations that mostly disappeared like the morning fog the moment he was elected. That’s not to say that all of them were baseless, mind you, but considering Juanita Broaddrick has been consistently telling the same story about Bill Clinton for nigh on 20 years now to any reporter who will listen — and there aren’t a whole lot — it casts at least some doubt upon Trump’s accusers.

But according to Hillary Clinton, that’s just because Trump hasn’t been subject to the inquisition of the vast right-wing conspiracy.

That’s a reductionist version of the argument she gave Christiane Amanpour during an interview with CNN, clips of which were released Tuesday. It’s not that far off, however.

In the interview, she rejected any comparison between her husband’s alleged behavior and Trump’s, arguing that Bill came out better by comparison.

“There’s a very significant difference, and that is the intense, long-lasting, partisan investigation that was conducted in the ’90s,” Clinton said.

“If the Republicans, starting with President Trump on down, want a comparison, they should welcome such an investigation themselves,” she said.

She also praised her husband’s resilience.

“Bill had to be incredibly strong,” Hillary said. “First to get elected, then to get re-elected, and to survive.

“And it was not easy, by any means, obviously. But he really believes that Democrats had to be tougher and stand up to the bullying and the intimidation.”

Clinton doesn’t just play the world’s tiniest violin for herself, her husband and their collective legacy; she has a collection of microscopic Stradivariuses perfectly tuned for each possible occasion — and when it arises, she produces that precise instrument and Itzhak Perlmans that bad boy until even I almost feel sorry for her.

To her credit, Amanpour wasn’t bowled over by Clinton’s playing or that she glossed over why he had “to survive” an impeachment attempt and numerous accusations of sexual misconduct. That’s what prompted the question that led to Clinton saying the “intense, long-lasting, partisan investigation” against her husband that Trump apparently hasn’t endured.

The proper riposte to that would simply have been to mention the network on which this interview will be aired: CNN. Democrats may not be in a position of power in either house of Congress (although they certainly managed to guarantee Robert Mueller steady employment), but the those in the fourth estate — in particular the folks at CNN — have been all-too-eager to run their own “intense, long-lasting, partisan investigation” into anything Trump-related, including his ice cream habits. During the 1990s, meanwhile, the press was so servile that CNN earned the backronym “Clinton News Network.”

This response also assiduously avoids any mention of the validity of the claims made against the former president. One can certainly postulate the reasoning behind this, particularly since even ardent liberals are re-evaluating whether actively, continuously undermining women who made credible, corroborated sexual misconduct allegations may have hamstrung them in the long run. (The subtext of the debate seems to lack any ethical concerns about this strategy, but this ought not surprise anyone familiar with Democrat politicos.)

And then there’s the disturbing subtext here. When it comes to conservatives like Trump or Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, all women are to be believed. After all, what reason do they have to be lying? When it comes to her husband, however, they’re all just prevaricating floozies, likely put up to it by some member of the vast right-wing conspiracy who’s no doubt out there somewhere twirling his mustache and smoking a cigar he lit with a T-Bond.

Clinton said her husband was “standing up to bullying and intimidation” when he fought allegations by Broaddrick, Paula Jones and Kathleen Willey. And she said this just days after she declaimed Kavanaugh “deserved laughter” for even intimating the accusations against him might have been out of vengeance.

You can’t fault Hillary for trying to efface her husband’s sordid legacy. Everything else in her response, however, is profoundly blameworthy.

Blasey Ford Caves: Legal Team Shuts Down Further Investigation into Kavanaugh

And so the Brett Kavanaugh scandal has ended — not with a bang, but a whimper. That could change, of course, if Democrats continue their crusade to remove the judge should they take the Senate after midterms. But as far as the original accuser goes? Christine Blasey Ford is throwing in the towel.

Ford’s lawyers have told CNN that their client “absolutely does not want him (Kavanaugh) impeached if Democrats take control of Congress.”

Debra Katz, one of Ford’s attorneys, told CNN that Ford has done everything she originally sought to do.

“Professor Ford has not asked for (Democrats to continue investigating Kavanaugh.) What she did was to come forward and testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee and agree to cooperate with any investigation by the FBI and that’s what she sought to do here,” Katz said.

Ford was thrust into the national spotlight after she accused then-Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh of sexual assault at a party while the two were in high school. Countless accusations and investigations ultimately yielded nothing, and Kavanaugh was sworn in as the 114th Supreme Court justice on Saturday after a 50-48 Senate vote.

Some prominent Democrats, such as House Judiciary Committee ranking member Jerry Nadler, have made no secret of Democrats’ desires to further investigate Kavanaugh should Democrats have a successful midterm.

“If he is on the Supreme Court, and the Senate hasn’t investigated, then the House will have to,” Nadler told ABC News George Stephanopoulos. “We would have to investigate any credible allegations of perjury and other things that haven’t been properly looked into before.”

Nadler’s statements fly directly in the face of Ford’s desires. Considering the accusations that Democrats willfully ignored Ford’s request for anonymity, it’s not exactly surprising that Democrats might ignore her requests again.

“She does not want (Kavanaugh) to be impeached?” CNN’s Dana Bash asked Ford’s lawyers.

“No,” Katz bluntly responded.

It’s totally understandable that Ford wants this ordeal finished and tucked away. Another Ford lawyer, Lisa Banks, stressed that Ford wanted closure but had no regrets.

“I don’t think she has any regrets. I think she feels like she did the right thing,” Banks said.

“And this was what she wanted to do, which was provide this information to the committee so they could make the best decision possible. And I think she still feels that was the right thing to do, so I don’t think she has any regrets.”

Katz hinted that she wasn’t thrilled with how everything played out, but still supported Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s handling of the accusations.

“What I can speak to is when victims of sexual assault and violence go to their Congress people — when they go to their senators and they ask for their information to be confidential, I think that that’s a request that needs to be respected,” Katz said.

“Victims get to control when and how and where their allegations get made public,” she added. “Now, if we want to look at all the things that went wrong in this process, there are many. There are many issues that need to be addressed. But I think Sen. Feinstein respected the process of her constituents, and I think that was the right thing to do.”

It’s certainly up for debate whether or not Feinstein actually “respected the process of her constituents.”

But if Democrats continue the assault on Kavanaugh, they most certainly will not be respecting Ford’s request for this to end.
