Since Democrat President Woodrow Wilson’s administration, America has been on Progressive Road heading towards Socialist Town. Our freedoms have eroded, our liberties have deteriorated, our independence has been eradicated and our voices have been silenced. We are grossly off track. So where do we go from here?

Progressives in both parties have betrayed the American people for too long. Democrat, Republican, Libertarian or Independent, Conservative, Liberal, or Constitutionalist, Christian or Atheist, the vast majority of this country knows we are going in the wrong direction.

We have allowed “progress” to take us down a road that has made America unrecognizable. Most millennials do not understand liberty, freedom, or personal responsibility because they have never been taught it. They have no idea what made America great. Even more so, government has indoctrinated them to believe it never was in the first place.

But don’t lose heart yet. There is hope. There is a solution.

Inigo Montoya declared in The Princess Bride, “You told me to go back to the beginning. So I have. This is where I am. This is where I will stay. I will not be moved.”

We need to go back to the beginning.

We need to go back to our foundation.

We need to go back to the Constitution.

The Founders wisely anticipated that the Federal Government could usurp its Constitutional authority. As a result, they gave the states and their citizens the ability to reclaim the country with Article V of the Constitution:

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no amendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.

All three branches of our Federal Government are out of control. They do not check and balance each other anymore. Instead, they work with, support and conspire with each other to push through their agendas, not our best interests. It is time to tell them enough. No one in Washington can do this for us. We have to do it ourselves.

A mock Convention of States was held last month in colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.  Issues such as term limits for congressman and justices, a virtual Congress (where congressmen remain in their home districts), a balanced budget, and single subject bills were discussed.

No more Congressmen spending 40+ years stealing and wasting our money. No more elbow rubbing, back room deals and lobbying of Congressmen. No more spending our grandchildren’s money to pad Congress’ pockets today. No more 2000 page bills that include 1000 lines of pork that must be voted on in a day.

The focus and goal is to return the power to the states and to the people. Washington is taken completely out of the process.

The mock Convention was conducted as if it was a real Convention. Eight proposals were presented, debated and voted on. Six passed, one was voted down, and one was tabled altogether.

The Abrogation Amendment was one of the popular proposals. This amendment would allow states to overrule any Supreme Court decision, Congressional legislation or Executive Order they do not like with a 3/5ths passing vote. It gives the control back to the people, removing government’s ability to shove their agenda down our throats. Common Core, Obamacare and same-sex marriage could be revoked by the people with this Amendment.

Delegates also repealed the 16th Amendment, which formed the Federal Income Tax. Many favored replacing it with a Flat Tax, but that can be determined later.

The Commerce Clause was reworked, returning it to its original intent. The Federal Government has completely overstepped their authority with the Commerce Clause. They used it to chock businesses’ abilities to trade and deal across state lines, usually for political reasons.

The Commerce Clause restricted health insurance agencies from being able to provide insurance to those out of state. Restoration of this clause would eliminate the need for Obamacare. It would radically change departments such as the Department of Education, the Department of Energy, Department of Commerce, and the EPA. That is actually a change and progress America can get on board with.

The Article V was specifically designed by the Founders to allow citizens to reset. Likewise, to go back to the beginning.

Only a few more states are needed before an actual convention can be called. You can help by going to ConventionOfStates.com and signing the petition. You can stop there or be connected to your local chapter and state representatives. There is information on volunteering, organizing your neighbors and getting involved. Training tools are also available.

A large grassroots campaign is already underway with millions of citizens working on the ground. This is in our reach and can be done.

Washington, regardless of who becomes president, will not relinquish the power they have grabbed. Fortunately, it’s not up to them. We have a Constitutional trigger we can pull to put things right.

We still have a chance to save America. It is all up to us though.

The Founders told us to go back to the beginning. So I have. This is where I am. This is where I will stay. I will not be moved.
