US No Longer in Top 10 of Most Economically Free Countries

The following article is more evidence of the importance of the 2014 elections. So, why is the media, even FOX, so focused on the 2016 elections?

The Wall Street Journal and the Heritage Foundation released their 2014 Index of Economic Freedom, and, unsurprising to most of us, the United States has dropped out of the top ten most economically free countries. This is due in part to our escalating economic regulations and out-of-control debt, but it also has to do with growing freedoms in other parts of the world. The Wall Street Journal reports:

The most improved players are in Eastern Europe, including Estonia, Lithuania and the Czech Republic. These countries have gained the most economic freedom over the past two decades. And it’s no surprise: Those who have lived under communism have no trouble recognizing the benefits of a free-market system. But countries that have experimented with milder forms of socialism, such as Sweden, Denmark and Canada, also have made impressive moves toward greater economic freedom, with gains near 10 points or higher on the index scale. Sweden, for instance, is now ranked 20th out of 178 countries, up from 34th out of 140 countries in 1996.

The U.S. and the U.K., historically champions of free enterprise, have suffered the most pronounced declines. Both countries now fall in the “mostly free” category. Some of the worst performers are in Latin America, particularly Venezuela, Argentina, Ecuador and Bolivia. All are governed by crony-populist regimes pushing policies that have made property rights less secure, spending unsustainable and inflation ever more threatening.

I think it’s important for us to realize that the United States is being plunged into an economic quagmire that European and Eastern nations have already suffered through and are exiting. While we extol the virtues of government regulations, universal blah blah blah, and socialist utopias, former socialist states are abandoning these same ideologies in favor of the laissez-faire economic policies that traditionally characterized the US. And why are formerly socialist countries abandoning socialist policies? Because they just don’t work. I don’t know how long it will take for us to figure that out. How many other countries need to destroy themselves pursuing socialism before everyone just agrees that big government top-down economic controls paralyze economies and dissipate economic potential? Seriously. This is frustrating.

Obama Plans to Sidestep Congress on Jobs Agenda with Executive Actions

More evidence that President Obama believes himself to be a King who can just;

order people to do whatever he wants,
enforce the laws he likes,
or change the laws he does not like,
issue an executive order to bypass the Congress and the Constitution he swore to uphold,
ignore the restrictions the Constitution puts on the Presidency.

President Obama has surrounded himself with other Marxist/Socialist/Collectivist who think like him, and therefore, encourage his law-breaking conduct. The following article exposes more of these “self-attributed” efforts.

Ready to put an economic spotlight on his State of the Union address, President Barack Obama is picking up the pace of his jobs message and making a case that, even against a divided Congress, he can still be relevant to people struggling in the up-and-down recovery.

With two weeks left before his message to a joint session of Congress, Obama is showcasing how he can advance his economic agenda administratively and through his ability to coax action from important interest groups.

On Tuesday, Obama is meeting with his Cabinet to discuss measures that can help the middle class. On Wednesday he will go to North Carolina to draw attention to industry steps to increase high-tech manufacturing. On Thursday he has invited college presidents to discuss ways to improve workers’ skills. Later this month, he is convening CEOs at the White House to lay out plans for hiring the long-term unemployed.

“The president will use every tool he can to create new jobs and opportunities for the middle class,” White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer writes in an email to be sent Tuesday morning to the White House list of supporters. “He will be looking for areas of bipartisan cooperation, but he won’t be waiting on Congress to act.”

The approach has strong echoes of Obama’s 2012 “We can’t wait” campaign that sought to depict Obama as an impatient executive in the face of inaction from Congress, particularly the Republican-controlled House.

Obama’s reliance on his executive powers and his bully pulpit — at the White House it’s called his “pen-and-phone” strategy — illustrates the means at his disposal but also highlights the limits of his ability to work with Congress.

Only through legislation can Obama obtain some of the most ambitious items on his economic agenda — from a higher minimum wage to universal preschool to an overhaul of immigration laws, three items in his 2013 State of the Union that will make a return appearance in this year’s address.

That means that as long as Republicans in Congress are unreceptive to his legislative priorities, he will have to settle for more incremental and narrower solutions that don’t necessarily have the staying power and the force of law.

Last week, Obama announced that five communities had been designated as “promise zones,” fulfilling a goal he set out in his 2013 State of the Union speech. Last year, Obama also announced that he intended to launch three manufacturing hubs where businesses would work to create centers of high-tech jobs by working in partnership with the Energy and Defense departments. But in an example of his limitations, he also called on Congress to create 15 more similar hubs, a request that went unanswered.

Obama’s determination to use the power of executive orders and administrative actions as well as his decision to convene key figures from private enterprise, education and other interest groups to help advance his agenda also underscore some of the built-in powers of the presidency. Clinton-era White House chief of staff John Podesta, who is joining the White House as a senior adviser, has long pressed Obama to use his executive authority to get around congressional opposition.

Podesta co-authored a report in 2010 for the liberal Center for American Progress that was essentially a treatise on presidential authority. It argued that both presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton had enacted aspects of their agendas even in the face of a divided Congress.

“The upshot: Congressional gridlock does not mean the federal government stands still,” Podesta wrote. “This administration has a similar opportunity to use available executive authorities while also working with Congress where possible.”

Obama is using executive power to affect immigration law

While reading the following blog, please keep one thought in your mind;

Why does the Left hate immigrants that come here legally?

I have had the privilege of knowing many LEGAL immigrants. When you ask them how they feel about ILLEGALS you’ll get an ear full of anger. The LEGAL ones

got in line,
filed the papers,
went through the interview processes,
learned our language, and culture,
got the physicals and shots, and
WAITED until they were allowed to come here.
When they arrived they determined to merge into our culture and BECOME A CONTRIBUTING MEMBER OF SOCIETY.
They got a LEGAL Social Security Card with a number assigned they THEIR name.
They paid all taxes.
A large number of them did all that is necessary to become CITIZENS.

All the arguments of the Left spits in the face of all these numerous law abiding people who immigrated legally.

Why hasn’t FOX, or any other respected news entity conducted an investigative report focused on these wonderful people who have made a genuine contribution to our society? Huh?

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama didn’t wait for Congress to rewrite the nation’s immigration laws to help millions who are in the United States illegally stay in the country.

He halted deportations of those who came to the United States when they were young, those who care for children and those who haven’t committed crimes. And he’s started allowing some relatives of U.S. service members living in the country illegally to stay as a way to alleviate additional stress on the military and reward veterans.

With a proposed immigration overhaul stalled in Congress, Obama is changing the policy step by step on his own. He’s using executive actions to affect millions of people, part of a pattern he’s embraced on a variety of topics in recent years to bypass Capitol Hill.

“What this administration has undertaken has never happened to this degree,” said Mark Krikorian, the executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, a research center.

Obama’s actions spark anger on both sides of the issue. Supporters of an immigration overhaul complain that he hasn’t gone far enough. Opponents of an immigration overhaul say he goes too far.

Supporters have tried to block deportation proceedings at government buildings in a dozen cities, chained themselves to the gates outside the White House, even interrupted a presidential address.

“The president has the legal authority to exercise discretion in immigration enforcement, and to date, that authority has been exercised poorly,” said Pablo Alvarado, the executive director of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, which is leading the charge against deportations.

Critics have accused Obama of violating the Constitution, prompting a congressional hearing and a lawsuit by immigration agents who accuse the government of preventing them from fulfilling their sworn oath to uphold the law.

“The current administration is picking and choosing which laws to enforce,” said Rep. Robert Goodlatte, a Virginia Republican who’s the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. “The president cannot refuse to enforce a law simply because he dislikes it.”

Obama broke his campaign promise to tackle immigration in his first year in office. Since then, though, he’s consistently urged Congress to rewrite the immigration laws, with no success.

The Democratic-controlled Senate passed the most significant overhaul of the nation’s immigration laws in a generation last year. The Republican-led House of Representatives won’t consider the bill, which provides a path to citizenship for the estimated 11 million immigrants who are in the country illegally, until the borders are secure.

While lawmakers argued, the Department of Homeland Security enacted a series of changes using prosecutorial discretion, the wide latitude given to prosecutors in determining whether to pursue apparent violations of the law.

“In the absence of any immigration action from Congress to fix our broken immigration system, what we’ve tried to do is focus our immigration enforcement resources in the right places,” Obama said in 2012.

The president’s opponents and those who want stricter enforcement say the tool was created to review individual cases, not entire categories of people, though it’s been used occasionally for groups, including Cubans and Haitians.

Kevin Johnson, an immigration policy expert who serves as the dean of the University of California, Davis, School of Law, said the president could halt all deportations much the same way a governor could ban executions but that it would be a mistake because angry Republicans would refuse to consider an immigration overhaul.

“Could he put a moratorium on removals? Yes,” Johnson said. “But politically it would be a disaster. It would end the possibilities for comprehensive immigration reform.”

Obama has said repeatedly that he doesn’t believe that he has the authority to stop all deportations.

In late November, a heckler seated behind Obama at an immigration speech in San Francisco argued that the president has the power to stop deportations.

“The easy way out is to try to yell and pretend like I can do something by violating our laws,” Obama responded to him. “And what I’m proposing is the harder path, which is to use our democratic processes to achieve the same goal that you want to achieve – but it won’t be as easy as just shouting. It requires us lobbying and getting it done.”

Krikorian accuses Obama of trying to have it both ways. “He is telling supporters he can’t do it unilaterally, but he’s doing a lot of it unilaterally,” he said.

Obama was initially skeptical of using his executive powers the way his Republican predecessor George W. Bush did.

In his first two years in the White House, when fellow Democrats controlled Capitol Hill, Obama largely worked through the regular legislative process to try to achieve his immigration agenda. But Republicans took control of the House in 2010, making that task more difficult.

The next year, after an intense lobbying effort from advocates, he began to use his own power to move his immigration agenda forward.

“Clearly, the pressure is what drove him to act,” said Frank Sharry, the executive director of America’s Voice, a group that seeks a path to citizenship for immigrants who are in the country illegally.

Overall, deportations have increased during the Obama administration to roughly 400,000 people a year, but not in all categories.

In 2011, the administration issued a memo that called for deporting only the most serious criminals, including those who pose threats to national security, have extensive criminal backgrounds and have recently crossed the border.

The next year, after a bill to create a path to citizenship for those who attend college or serve in the military failed, Obama announced that illegal immigrants who were brought to the country as children – so-called Dreamers – would be able to stay and obtain work permits.

Last August, the administration said federal agents shouldn’t deport the parents or guardians of minor children. Three months later, agents were directed to allow the spouses, children and parents of service members, reservists and veterans to stay.

“It’s an effort to shift priorities,” said Marshall Fitz, the director of immigration policy at the left-leaning Center for American Progress. “Doesn’t it make sense to prioritize?”

The spending bill: 1,582 pages of dismay

The bipartisan Murray-Ryan budget agreement has now been “fleshed out” into an omnibus spending bill, as Fox News puts it. It’s 1,582 pages long, which is a lot of flesh. If you plan on reading it before your representatives vote, you’d better get cracking, because you only have until tomorrow afternoon, even though Republicans promised there would be minimum 72-hour review periods for legislation when they took control of the House in 2010. Based on media accounts, the bill seems to have most of the strengths and weaknesses of the Murray-Ryan outline; its primary strength is how deeply disappointed everyone on both sides of the aisle finds it, which makes it a “bipartisan” compromise in dismay. Hey, it’s the best your bloated mega-government can do.

Fox News feels the seismic tremors from hundreds of shoulders shrugging in unison on Capitol Hill:

To be sure, there is plenty for both parties to oppose in the legislation. Conservatives face a vote to fund implementation of President Obama’s health care overhaul and Wall Street regulations, both enacted in 2010 over solid Republican opposition. If history is any guide, conservative provisions on environmental and abortion policy will be tossed overboard.

But conservatives can take heart that overall spending for daily agency operations has been cut by $79 billion, or 7 percent, from the high-water mark established by Democrats in 2010. That cut increases to $165 billion, or 13 percent, when cuts in war funding and disaster spending are accounted for.

Liberals are more likely to climb aboard, but only after voting to give Obama about $6 billion more in Pentagon war funding than the $79 billion he requested. The additional war money is helping the Pentagon deal with a cash crunch in troop readiness accounts. Including foreign aid related to overseas security operations, total war funding reaches $92 billion, a slight cut from last year.

The alternative, however, is to allow automatic spending cuts to strike for a second year and even risk another government shutdown if Congress deadlocks.

Are we sure we don’t want to try another partial shutdown? The last one gave us the only decent month of job growth we’ve had in a while.

So how does Congress make itself choke down this melancholy compromise? Sweeteners, my friends. Sweeteners.

At the same time, the bill is laced with sweeteners, including the provision exempting disabled veterans from a pension cut enacted last month to help pay for the budget relief in the spending bill. It contains increases for veterans’ medical care backed by both sides and fully funds food aid for low-income pregnant women and their children. The National Institutes of Health is sure to fall short of the $31 billion budget it won when Democrats controlled Congress.

Though the bill provides the billions in aid to Egypt, it also places conditions on the aid and leaves it up to the Obama administration to determine if Egypt qualifies. The country has seen political turmoil over the past couple of years after the ouster of longtime leader Hosni Mubarak.

The bill requires Egypt to pursue democracy, seek to enforce the rule of law, honor human rights and adhere to agreements with Israel. If not, it’s possible the US could pull the aid. Aid to Israel is also included in the bill.

Well, as long as the rest of the world is getting paid, I guess American taxpayers can’t complain too much. Technically giving another $1.5 billion to Egypt is illegal, because the current government seized power in a coup, and there is a law against providing financial assistance to such a government, even when they’re a huge improvement over the Muslim Brotherhood nutters they displaced. Fortunately, we’re well past the point where anyone expects the government to obey its own laws, or follow the correct procedure for modifying them.

The Washington Post adds that the bill “would fully restore cuts to Head Start, partially restore cuts to medical research and job training programs, and finance new programs to combat sexual assault in the military. It would also give all federal workers a 1 percent raise.” However, “in a blow to the District, it provides only partial funding to continue constructing buildings for the Department of Homeland Security’s campus in Anacostia.” Take that, Leviathan State!

It’s good to know Head Start funding will be plumped back up, because Uncle Sam loves expensive, useless programs whose termination can be portrayed as cruelty to children. With the world in chaos after five years of Obama foreign policy, and al-Qaeda’s influence at an all-time high, this might not be the best time to cut military spending, but since that’s the only spending Democrats are ever interested in cutting, it’s bound to be part of any successful deal. At least disabled veterans will be spared from those pension cuts, and the federal worker bees are only getting a 1 percent raise, not to mention giving up part of the funding for that new bureaucracy theme park they wanted in Anacostia. It all balances out, see?

Just wait until the next omnibus spending bill prices in the ObamaCare insurance industry bailout! It’ll be interesting to see what kind of “sweeteners” it takes to chug that toxic brew.

The Washington Post goes into great detail about the contents of the spending bill, and finds a few items worthy of celebration:

The Department of Homeland Security would face a reduction in funding of about $336 million, with most of the cuts at the scandal-ridden Transportation Security Administration. In a victory for Republicans who have sought for years to boost the use of private security contractors, the agreement increases funding for private security screeners and caps the TSA’s overall screening personnel at 46,000.

The agreement is riddled with dozens of controversial policy riders. One would bar funding to enforce the Obama administration’s new standard that would ban the use of incandescent light bulbs. The proposal was an early environmental policy victory for the White House, but the old bulbs remain widely popular.

The measure would continue a ban on transferring terrorism detainees at the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to sites in the United States. It would also withhold additional funding for the government of Afghanistan until the country agrees to a new bilateral security agreement. And the measure would ban foreign aid for Libya until Secretary of State John F. Kerry “confirms Libyan cooperation” with ongoing investigations into the Sept. 11, 2012, attack at the U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghazi.

[…] Several issues regarding gun control are also included in the bill. The legislation restricts the Justice and Homeland Security departments from establishing programs similar to the “Fast and Furious” gun-tracking effort. In response to allegations that the administration has been stockpiling ammunition for use by federal agents, the measure also requires Homeland Security to provide detailed reports on its purchase and use of ammunition.

The measure also continues a ban on the use of federal funding to perform most abortions, including abortions in the District and for federal prisoners. But Republicans agreed to jettison other contentious proposals, including a ban on new federal regulations for greenhouse gases and the “global gag rule,” which sought to prohibit U.S. funding for organizations that give women information about abortion.

We might get our light bulbs back? That would make it easier to read the next omnibus spending bill. Alas, the Church of Global Warming will be able to keep bleeding American industry with other madcap regulations, but maybe the post-2014 Congress can address that problem.

Perhaps this sort of compromise is to be expected from a divided Congress with a big-spending President holding the veto pen. There’s little chance the Republicans were going to fight like wildcats to get a better deal, although they did promise to fight like wildcats this time, the last time they explained why they didn’t feel up to a savage battle. But next time, if they can get the Senate in 2014, their fury for limited government will resemble a cross between the Tasmanian Devil and Wolverine. They might even insist on holding the President to his legal obligations and preparing a rational budget plan for the gigantic federal government, instead of driving us to insolvency in the omnibus – a curious vehicle that has a trillion forward gears, nothing in reverse, and a clutch that takes tendon-popping effort to depress.

Beyond NASA photo, ‘Hand of God’ seen everywhere

Stunning X-ray telescopic image suggests more than some scientists intended

Although the newest galactic image captured by a NASA telescope is being reported widely, there’s a major irony in the name given to the remarkable photograph – the “Hand of God.”

Today’s scientific establishment is largely secular, even atheistic, so naming the image of an exploding star – captured by NASA’s Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array, or NuSTAR – the “Hand of God” seems just a rare and whimsical acknowledgement of God, since the image does bear an unmistakable resemblance to a giant, cosmic “hand.”

However, renowned scientist Arthur Robinson, commenting on the photo’s name, tells WND that until the current historical era, everything in nature was considered by scientists to be evidence of the “hand of God.”

“Scientists during most of history have recognized that the vast natural beauty they are privileged to see and study could only have been the product of an awesome Creator,” Robinson said.

The new NASA photo resulted when the NuSTAR telescope X-rayed the explosion of a star and subsequent ejection of a huge cloud of matter that shows up as blue in the image.

In a press release, NuSTAR telescope principal investigator Fiona Harrison, of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, said, “NuSTAR’s unique viewpoint, in seeing the highest-energy X-rays, is showing us well-studied objects and regions in a whole new light.”

Robinson, a former CalTech professor and co-founder with Nobel laureate Linus Pauling of the Linus Pauling Institute, and later of the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine, assured WND that while science has become increasingly atheistic, “many scientists today still recognize the hand of God in the natural world.”

In “The Marketing of Evil,” author and WND Managing Editor David Kupelian points out a few other scientists who see the “Hand of God” everywhere:

“This ubiquitous natural wonderland caused man to acknowledge and honor the Creator of creation, as Copernicus did when he wrote, ‘[The world] has been built for us by the Best and Most Orderly Workman of all.’ Or as Galileo wrote, ‘God is known … by Nature in His works and by doctrine in His revealed word.’ Or as Pasteur confessed, ‘The more I study nature, the more I stand amazed at the work of the Creator.’ Or Isaac Newton: ‘When I look at the solar system, I see the earth at the right distance from the sun to receive the proper amounts of heat and light. This did not happen by chance.’”

Newton, interestingly, is universally regarded as one of the most important scientists in history, and his 1687 book, “Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy,” is considered perhaps the most influential science book of all time, laying out the basis for classical mechanics.

But Newton also wrote another book many people have never heard about: “Observations Upon the Prophecies of Daniel and the Apocalypse of St. John.” In fact, a devout Christian, Newton spent a significant amount of his time researching and studying the Bible.

With views like that, which by today’s academic standards might be regarded as “unscientific,” it is questionable whether Sir Isaac Newton, history’s most famous scientist, could have landed a professorship at a modern secular university.

Here are a few other images that scientists of past eras, had they been privileged to view them, would certainly have regarded as the handiwork of a divine Creator.

In his book, “God and the Astronomers,” world-renowned astrophysicist Robert Jastrow, founding director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, explains the “fear of faith” many of today’s scientists experience.

There is a kind of religion in science, it is the religion of a person who believes there is order and harmony in the universe, and every effect must have its cause; [but] there is no First Cause. …

“No First Cause,” however, means there is no Creator, no God. As Jastrow continues:

This religious faith of the scientist is violated by the discovery that the world had a beginning under conditions in which the known laws of physics are not valid, and as a product of forces or circumstances we cannot discover. When that happens, the scientist has lost control. If he really examined the implications, he would be traumatized. As usual when faced with trauma, the mind reacts by ignoring the implications – in science this is known as “refusing to speculate” – or trivializing the origin of the world by calling it the Big Bang, as if the Universe were a firecracker.

Consider the enormity of the problem. Science has proven that the universe exploded into being at a certain moment. It asks, What cause produced this effect? Who or what put the matter and energy into the Universe? Was the Universe created out of nothing, or was it gathered together out of pre-existing materials? And science cannot answer these questions …

“Now,” Jastrow continues, “we would like to pursue that inquiry farther back in time, but the barrier to further progress seems insurmountable. It is not a matter of another year, another decade of work, another measurement, or another theory; at this moment it seems as though science will never be able to raise the curtain on the mystery of creation.”

The famed scientist’s ultimate conclusion is astonishingly candid, particularly in light of his own professed agnosticism: “For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountain of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries.”

Obama Parole Board Frees Al Qaeda Terrorist, Bin Laden Guard From Gitmo

The Al Qaeda terrorist—Osama Bin Laden’s bodyguard—determined to be “too dangerous to be released” from Guantanamo just a few years ago will be freed from the military prison because President Obama’s new parole board found he no longer poses a “significant threat to the United States.”

The shocking about-face comes on the heels of mainstream news reports disclosing that a former Guantanamo detainee, Sufian bin Qumu, participated in the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack on the U.S. mission in Libya. Bin Qumu was released from the prison at the U.S. naval base in Cuba despite having historic ties to the Al Qaeda network and training at bin Laden’s Torkham camp, according to information obtained from his Gitmo file.

That makes this week’s news that bin Laden’s former bodyguard, Mahmud Abd Al Aziz Al Mujahid, will soon be free, all the more outrageous. It was not that long ago—in 2010—that an Obama task force listed Mujahid as too dangerous to release from Gitmo. That put him on a special “forever prisoner” list of 48 indefinite detainees. His Pentagon file says he’s a high risk likely to pose a threat to the U.S., its interests and allies and that he is of high intelligence value.

The defense document also says Mujahid is a member of Al Qaeda who served as a body guard for bin Laden for one year and that he has familial ties to Al Qaeda members, including other bin Laden bodyguards and Gitmo detainees. He traveled to Afghanistan in late 1999 or early 2000 for jihad and received militant training at the Al Qaeda al-Faruq training camp, the file says.

“Detainee is a committed jihadist who received theological training from, and was recruited by, radical Yemeni shaykhs who continue to recruit Yemeni youth to participate in hostilities against US and coalition forces. Detainee’s assessed commitment to jihadis supported by his discussions with another JTF-GTMO detainee on methods to conduct suicide during detention.”

Yet soon he will be freed to his native Yemen because Obama promised to close the military prison. Gitmo still houses 155 men and the president created a special parole panel, a six-member Periodic Review Board, to essentially clear out the facility. Mujahid is the first prisoner to be considered by the panel, though dozens of Gitmo detainees have already been approved for release to meet the demands of the leftist groups that have long called for the facility to shut down.

Obama’s special Periodic Review Board found that Mujahid’s “continued law of war detention is no longer necessary to protect against a continuing significant threat to the United States,” according to a Pentagon announcement. Therefore Mujahid is “eligible for transfer subject to appropriate security and humane treatment conditions.” No further information was offered on the drastic change in this prisoner’s assessment.

School recommends pornography for reading assignment

GEISMAR, La. – Judging from the content of several texts recommended by the Common Core State Standards, it seems apparent that both the creators of the standards and the U.S. Department of Education (by way of its continued endorsement and funding of the standards) consider sex, profanity, and violence to be somehow beneficial to the education of children.

Thanks to a few attentive parents, we know that at least two Common Core Text Exemplars, The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison and Dreaming in Cuban by Christina Garcia, contain pornography and vulgar language.

Dutchtown High School in the Ascension Parish School District of Louisiana recommended both The Bluest Eyeand Dreaming in Cuban to students in 2012 as part of a required summer reading assignment. In addition to these two books, several others on the school’s summer reading list contain sexually explicit material, sexual themes, graphic violence, and profanity. Some of them recommended reading, some required.

As shown in the screen shot above, 11th grade English III AP students were required to read Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. This book was previously banned for offensive language and sexually explicit content.

Another required text from the Dutchtown High School list is Thomas C. Foster’s How to Read Literature Like a Professor. Sounds harmless enough (and boring), right? Hardly.

In this book, Foster jumps immediately into race baiting his readers, in the Introduction no less, by comparing white people to the devil.

Many pages, including a chapter titled It’s All About Sex, are dedicated to “finding the sexual component in literature”. Readers are taught to look for sex in everything — such as identifying lances, swords, guns and keys as phallic symbols and chalices, grails and bowls as symbols of female sexual organs.

Unfortunately, CCSSO and the Obama administration have cunningly managed to evade accountability for The Bluest Eye and Dreaming in Cuban by way of liability waivers and by labeling these trash texts as ‘recommended’ and the standards as ‘voluntary’ and ‘state-led’.

States and districts, however, can and should be made accountable for this obvious attack on our children and on parental authority.

As explained here, at the heart of the Common Core State Standards is a political and social agenda. These standards are a means to further infiltrate and then take over schools for the purpose of indoctrinating and controlling our children, a vital step in an attempt to decimate the social and moral fabric of our country.

Ascension Parish has long been a politically conservative district boasting some of the highest performing schools in the State of Louisiana. The district recently ranked 7th out of 70 in the state. Today, however, it appears to be the district most enthusiastic to embrace the morally corrupt agenda of the Common Core State Standards.

Proctor and Gamble has released a video ahead of the 2014 winter Olympics, which begin next month. The ad portrays the role of moms in helping their children achieve their goals.

The video opens with moms around the world helping their children learn the very first basics of physical independence, like walking. As their children grow older and begin to experiment with outdoor sports, the role of the mom shifts as she is now the one to pick them up and clean them off after they fall.

Their children continue to grow and progress in their respective sports, and mom’s job becomes more hands-off, moral support. Ultimately their children make it to the winter Olympic games, thanks to the unfailing support of their mothers from their earliest days.

The video concludes, “For teaching us that falling only makes us stronger. Thank you, Mom.”

Syria: Armenian Christians forced to convert to Islam or die

Arabic language websites reported earlier this week that the al-Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant—which, throughout the course of the war against the Assad government has committed any number of atrocities, from decapitating “infidels” to burning churches—has successfully “forced” two Armenian Christian families to convert to Islam.

A video accompanies some of these reports. In it, what appears to be an elderly Armenian man stands alongside an Islamic cleric who announces the Christian man’s conversion to Islam—to thunderous cries of “Allahu Akbar!” In his exultation, the cleric makes exuberant statements like “You see, we have no honor without Islam—without proclaiming aloud that “There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet!” (Without the religious jargon, this is simply another way of saying, “Only by joining our team can you ever escape dishonor,” the lot of all non-Muslim, subhuman “infidels.”)

The cleric also adds that, because the man is the head of his household, his Christian wife and children are all now Muslim as well—“all praise to Allah!” Naturally, if they reject their new Islamic identity, they become “apostates,” a crime punishable by death.

The rather flippant and sarcastic text that accompanies this video points out the obvious:

After decades of peaceful coexistence between the various religions of Syria, and after decades of living under the moderate form of Levantine Islam … these two Armenian families were none too keen on entering Islam or learning of its eminence—except at the hands of DAASH [al-Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant], which has been presenting a “rosy” picture of Islam and Muslims, by way of chopping heads, whipping people, and general repression. Thus did these two Christian Armenian families finally enter Islam, “willingly”—but only at the hands of DAASH.

In other words, it’s “curious,” to say the least, that Christians who for generations lived amid moderate Muslim majorities in Syria but opted to remain Christian, are now “suddenly” attracted to Islam—and at the hands of a jihadi organization that has been bombing churches, kidnapping and beheading Christians, and even teaching children to slaughter Christians wherever they may be found.

Sound like genuine conviction to you? Maybe things like the 2012 news that “a family of Armenian Christians was found murdered, and all members of the family horribly decapitated” in Syria is compelling these Armenian families into seeing the “wisdom” of embracing Islam?

Here we reach an important but overlooked historical point. While many Christians, past and present, have indeed willingly embraced martyrdom—the sword, death—rather than recant Christ for Muhammad, the majority of born Christians, when faced with converting to Islam or dying, have opted for the former. Indeed, call it a lack of idealism or a lack of faithfulness, when faced with converting to the “winning team” of Islam or simply being third-class subjects (dhimmis), many nominal Christians throughout the centuries have opted for the former.

That is precisely how and why the so-called “Islamic world”—the majority of which was almost entirely Christian before the Islamic conquests—came into being: a fact Western people were once well acquainted with, before the current age of political correctness and alternate realities fell upon us.

Update:

New information has just emerged concerning the recent killing of a young Armenian man, Minas, for refusing to convert to Islam, again at the hands of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (so much for their claims that they do not threaten Christians to convert).

He was reportedly killed in one of ISIL’s dungeons in Aleppo, north Syria, which has a notable Armenian minority.

According to iNews, “Minas and his father were held in ISIL’s prison for 115 days, according to one activist, and his accusation was that he refused to submit [to Islam, i.e., convert].”

iNews adds that activists from the region sent the accompanying picture, saying it is of the slain Minas. Others confirm that the picture is of a slain Armenian in Syria, but not of Minas. In any case, the man appears to be wearing the garments of the Armenian Evangelical Church of Aleppo.

The same report mentions other Christian Armenians slaughtered, including one who reportedly had “his head chopped off and placed in a biscuit box.”

Here is one of our favorite bits of satire from a master of the genre, Mr. Ray Stevens!

It may be just our personal opinion, but we think Mr. Stevens hits the nail on the head with his depiction of the President.

I’m not sure there has ever been a politician more ripe to be made fun of…and yet we’ve seen too little of it. It’s nice to see that some comedians still have the guts to mock our “leaders.”

Mr. President, We got record foreclosures, folks are losing their homes, the banks got money but they won’t make loans, the taxes are bringing small business to their knees, and we owe our soul to the Red Chinese. Mr. President, Mr. President, what are you going to do?

Well, I’m going to take off my coat and roll up my sleeves, turn on the teleprompter and give another speech, act real cool and talk real soft, then go out and play another round of golf. Throw a party at the White House and give a big show, board Air Force One and away I go, up to New York, take Michelle to a play, shoot a few hoops and call it a day.

But Mr. President! We got illegal aliens crossing our borders, and drug lords committing mayhem and disorder, states are going broke trying to pay their benefits, bond markets in the toilet, job markets in the pits, Mr. President, Mr. President, what are you going to do?

The Texas Congresswoman who once urged a Congressional oversight panel to study how Christian militants and other radicals might bring down the country has some new progressive ideas she’d like House members to begin implementing.

In a brief speech on the House floor about safety nets that touches on all manner of government assistance, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee suggested that the term “welfare” is no longer politically correct, and like all masters of doublespeak, wants Congress to change its name to a “transitional living fund.”

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) hailed the war on poverty, endorsed government welfare programs, and said the “safety net has to be something for all of us.”

“Maybe the word welfare should be changed to something of, ‘a transitional living fund.’ For that is what it is — for people to be able to live,” she said.

She urged Congress to pass emergency unemployment insurance — “a transitional outreach to individuals who are chronically unemployed,” as she put it.

“Quite frankly, of all the wealthy nations, we have the lowest safety net and the highest poverty, because we’re not willing to accept the fact that sometimes an American needs help. Even a veteran — even a soldier.

Following the financial crisis of 2008 when millions lost their jobs, homes and life savings, it is certainly understandable that emergency programs were established to help people transition and get back on their feet.

The operative term here is “transition” – a period of changing from one state or condition to another. Normally, when we think of a transition, especially as it relates to emergency funds from the government, we think short-term assistance. That could mean several months, or as is the case with unemployment benefits, 99 weeks.

However, no matter how Ms. Lee tries to spin this, welfare is no longer a short-term program for the majority of people on it. The “transition” the Congresswoman refers to is one in which a person simply stops working and starts collecting a monthly check from the government for producing absolutely nothing in return.

As we highlighted in a recent interview, and though it’s not necessarily descriptive of everyone who receives welfare assistance, the program itself is being abused on a massive scale. In the case of this particular caller, the “transitional living” involved going from working a job to sitting at home, smoking weed and still getting paid.

Me and people that I know that are illegal immigrants that don’t contribute to society, we still gonna get paid.

Our check’s gonna come in the mail every month… and it’s gonna be on time… and we get subsidized housing… we even get presents delivered for our kids on Christmas… Why should I work?

Ya’ll get the benefit of saying “oh, look at me, I’m a better person,” but when ya’ll sit at home behind ya’lls I’m a better person… we the ones gettin’ paid!

Sometimes our best laid plans fall apart. People hit hard times. That’s inevitable. Providing those people with transitional living assistance with food, health care or housing makes sense.

What doesn’t make sense is the confiscation of earnings from hard working Americans to the tune of $500 billion per year only to distribute those funds to apathetic leeches who contribute absolutely nothing to society. For many on government assistance you are a joke if you struggle at a 40-hour job for a weekly paycheck.

Transitional living? Hogwash.

People like the esteemed Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee would like to see nothing less than cradle-to-grave long term government dependents.

Department Of Justice’s Message To Schools: Singling Out Black Students For Poor Behavior Is “Racist”

Obama’s Department of Justice, under career race-baiter Eric Holder, issued a stark warning for schools across the country. It’s time to end the “racial disparity” in classrooms. Apparently, it is now “racist” to single out black students for misbehaving in the classroom. No longer is it acceptable to punish a black student, or other minority student, for behaviors that would negate suspension or strong disciplinary action. Thus, this only proves how racist the Department of Justice is in its deliberate manipulation of school policy. This is all about balancing the scales. Go easy on black students because they’re unfairly targeted, but punish other well behaving students to “even the playing field.” Obama’s Department of Justice is a nightmare, and the blame lies squarely on his shoulder’s and his comrade in arms, Eric Holder.

The Obama Administration’s singular accomplishment, besides igniting the vile flames of Islam both at home and abroad, is stoking perceived “racial tension.” For it was the Department of Justice that deliberately got involved in the George Zimmerman case, in order to make an example of him. What was the aim? To fan the flames of racial discord and create perceived tyranny for blacks at the hands of whites. In the process, they also wanted to go after guns “stand your ground” laws. The Obama Administration does not do anything without a motive. In perpetual race baiting, they can control the masses. Thus, the Department of Justice inserts itself in perceived “racial disparity” in schools, creating yet another mythical lie that blacks are unfairly singled out in schools for no reason other than race.

Attorney General Eric Holder said the recommendations were meant to protect the civil rights of students, and disrupt the so-called “school-to-prison pipeline.” Civil rights advocates have long said that overly zealous school discipline policies target black and Hispanic students, pulling them out of schools and into the court system.

“Each year, significant numbers of students miss class due to suspensions and expulsions – even for minor infractions of school rules – and students of color and with disabilities are disproportionately impacted,” the Justice Department said in a news release. “The guidance package provides resources for creating safe and positive school climates, which are essential for boosting student academic success and closing achievement gaps.”

In other words, schools should stop punishing minority students for disciplinary infractions. If a student disobeys school rules, he or she should be punished in the appropriate manner, regardless of skin color. Only Obama’s Department of Justice would dare imply that it is “racist” to punish students of color for general infractions.

The Daily Caller reports, Eric Holder’s DOJ co-wrote the letter with the Department of Education, and sent it to public schools across the country yesterday. First among its decrees: Schools should not strive to treat all races the same; rather, they should treat the races differently, levying weaker punishments when necessary, in order to effect equal outcomes among students of all races.

The problem? Not all races are equally likely to misbehave at school. Boys, for instance, get into trouble much more frequently than girls. And black, Hispanic and Native American children — who are far more likely to grow up in single-parent households — have higher misbehavior rates than white and Asian students, according to Roger Clegg of National Review.

So if a black male student curses in class, or refuses to do what a teacher asks, the teacher will first have to consider the race of the student before issuing discipline; or not disciplining, if the behavior is menial. However, if a white male student does the same thing, the teacher should crack down on him to even the playing field. This is grotesque, and it will only help to ruin an already failing education system.

The public school system is already ruined by the horror that is Common Core. This just adds more absurd, racial policies that will limit a teacher’s potential to teach, and will negatively impact students that are well-behaved. The term “well-behaved” can apply to all races, unless the Department of Justice has deemed this a racially charged statement, one implying white privilege. But the goal here is to protect minority student’s “civil rights” and the “school-to-prison pipeline.”

“Effective discipline is, and always will be, a necessity. But a routine school discipline infraction should land a student in a principal’s office – not in a police precinct,” Holder said.

Holder said many students were suspended, expelled or arrested for minor infractions such as school uniform violations, schoolyard fights or laughing in class.

School yard fights are not usually minor infractions. They can cause serious harm to students and faculty, but in this case, if a black student instigates a fight or disrupts class, the teacher should just let it go. This is unfair targeting. Of course, school rules are uniform, but this makes it to where schools MUST discipline proportionately, or face Department of Justice charges.

“You have to make certain that your school discipline cases match those percentages. If you don’t, you’ll have the feds on your doorstep,” said Joshua Dunn, a political science professor at the University of Colorado and director of the university’s Center for Legal Studies. “If they actually do enforce these guidelines, there will be unintended consequences. This creates some rather destructive incentives. I don’t think there’s any way around that.”

“Eventually, you’ll have disorder in schools. … They either suspend white students for relatively trivial things or they don’t punish black students for behavior that is really disruptive or even violent,” said Hans Bader, a senior attorney at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. “You’re effectively commanding them to have racial quotas” with respect to which students are disciplined and how often.

The Obama tyranny is never ending. In these outrageous rules, the Department of Justice is creating more situations where schools can be targeted for “racial disparity.” This is just further proof that racial thuggery starts at the top, and it is systematically destroying the United States.

With Republicans tying themselves in knots over the Democrats’ destructive, but superficially appealing, demand that unemployment benefits be extended to two and a half years, I return to my suggestion that Republicans stop playing defense and go on offense.

For every issue that MSNBC loves to prattle on about, gloating that it will cost Republicans this or that demographic, there’s an equivalent issue to use against the Democrats. (The difference is: Our proposals would actually be good for the country.)

In addition to my repeated suggestion that Republicans introduce bills to institutionalize the dangerous mentally ill and force the Democrats to defend the right of psychos to crap in libraries and shoot up schools, Republicans should take the public’s side on immigration.

Democrats love to pretend their sucking up to illegals is all upside for them, but that’s because they lie even when taking polls.Liberals will claim that 99 percent of Americans favor national health care after taking a poll that asks: “Do you support Americans being nice to one another?”

WAIT! THAT’S NOT A POLL ABOUT NATIONAL HEALTH CARE!

It’s the same thing. The government providing free health care to everyone is just being nice.

They’ll claim “90 percent of Americans favor banning most guns” based on a poll that asks, “Are you for common sense gun safety or are you against it?”

Similarly, the immigration polls triumphantly brandished by the media ask about positions no one holds, no politician has proposed and no bills would require. Polls are irrelevant if you lie to the people being polled.

Most immigration polls are variations on the one taken by the liberal Brookings Institution last March. Although it has been endlessly cited for allegedly showing that a majority of Americans support amnesty, the poll never asked about amnesty, or any real policy.

Rather, the poll gave respondents only two options, neither of which have been proposed by either political party or are up for a vote anywhere in America.

The options were: “The best way to solve the country’s illegal immigration problem is to secure our borders and arrest and deport all those who are here illegally”;Or:“The best way to solve the country’s illegal immigration problem is to both secure our borders and provide an earned path to citizenship for illegal immigrants already in the U.S.”

Neither of those choices describes the position of anyone on either side of the immigration debate. Amnesty proponents have no intention of either securing the border or making illegals do anything to “earn” citizenship. Meanwhile, not a single amnesty opponent has proposed any program to “arrest and deport” illegals.

But amnesty proponents turn around and cite this fraudulent poll as proof that a majority of Americans support “a path to legalization.”

This is how the left uses polls to manipulate public opinion, rather than find out what it is. They provide the ingredients for today’s political discussion and we’re not allowed to pick any items off the menu.

But can’t I be against amnesty without voting for rounding up illegals at gunpoint?

No substitutions! Look at the menu.

All the “path to legalization” polls play the same trick. Either armed men round up millions of women and children at midnight, put them in leg irons and immediately deport them on stinky buses; or we offer them a “path to legalization” after meeting all sorts of onerous requirements (none of which will ever materialize).

There were loads of promises surrounding Ronald Reagan’s 1986 amnesty, too — such as securing the border, punishing employers who hire illegals and forcing illegals to pay back taxes. Sen. Teddy Kennedy vowed: “We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this.” (Those were the good old days when they were willing to call it “amnesty.”)

Obviously, that promise ended up in the same place Mary Jo Kopechne did — underwater and unmentioned.

After the bill passed, then-Rep. Chuck Schumer (Gov. Chris Christie’s current immigration adviser) immediately introduced a bill excusing illegal aliens from having to pay any back taxes at all.

Now, instead of 3 million illegal aliens living here, we have 11 million, salsa is the best-selling condiment in America, and I have to press “one” for English.

We already tried this the nice way. The country gets one mulligan, not two.

An honest poll question would ask:

Do you think people who have knowingly broken our laws to come here illegally with their families since the last amnesty should be rewarded with citizenship, or should they voluntarily go back the same way they came?

An even more honest immigration poll question would ask:

At a time of massive unemployment, do you think people who have knowingly broken our laws and come here illegally with their families since the last amnesty should be rewarded with citizenship, or should they voluntarily go back the same way they came?

Even a poll question that simply omits the lies about the theoretical hurdles illegals will have to clear (which will never happen) produces a poll in which a majority of Americans support “deportation.”

Last year, the TechCrunch website polled this question: “Do you support or oppose deporting the 11 million undocumented immigrants currently living in the U.S.?”

Again: NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT DEPORTATION. We didn’t round up 11 million foreigners to get them here, and we’re not going to round them up to send them home. They’ll leave the same way they came.

But even answering a stacked poll question asking about something no one has proposed — deportation — a majority of respondents, 53.4 percent, supported deportation, compared to 42 percent opposed. Among Republicans, 74.1 percent favored deportation, with only 22.3 percent opposed.

Not only that, but a Fox News poll last year showed that a majority of Americans would like to curtail legal immigration, with 55 percent supporting a decrease in legal immigrants and only 28 percent supporting an increase.

My thought is: Republicans should push policies that are popular.

But instead of proposing immigration reforms that are runaway hits with a majority of Americans — without anyone even having made the argument! — Republicans have been hoodwinked by Democrats into trying to outbid Democrats for the Hispanic vote. They still won’t win the Hispanic vote, but now the rest of the country will hate Republicans, too.

Congress “Calls.” Do They Control?

One of the more frequent objections to a Convention of States goes something like this: “Article V says Congress ‘calls’ the convention when it receives 34 applications. Doesn’t this mean Congress controls the convention and chooses the delegates?”

In a word, no.

The Founders were very clear on this point. Once 34 states apply, Congress has no discretion whether to call a convention and no control over the delegates. Alexander Hamilton said as much in Federalist No. 85:

“[T]he national rulers, whenever nine States concur, will have no option upon the subject. By the fifth article of the plan, the Congress will be obliged ‘on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the States [which at present amount to nine], to call a convention for proposing amendments, which shall be valid, to all intents and purposes, as part of the Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the States, or by conventions in three fourths thereof.’

The words of this article are peremptory. The Congress ‘shall call a convention.’ Nothing in this particular is left to the discretion of that body. And of consequence, all the declamation about the disinclination to a change vanishes in air . . . We may safely rely on the disposition of the State legislatures to erect barriers against the encroachments of the national authority.”

Hamilton makes two key points. First, Congress has no discretion over the convention process (“Congress shall call a convention”). The states are not asking Congress to call a convention. They are ordering Congress to perform its constitutional duty to call the convention when 34 states apply.

Second, a Convention of States is meant to “erect barriers against the encroachments of the national authority.” The purpose of convention process was to give the states power over the federal government. The Framers unanimously decided to add the Convention of States provision to Article V because they thought Congress had too much control over the amendment process. It makes no sense to interpret Article V to give more power to Congress, when the whole point was to take power away. Why would the Founders—given their intelligence and foresight—include two amendment processes if both were controlled by Congress?

Finally, the claim that Congress gets to choose the delegates goes against common sense. Just because one party “calls” a convention, doesn’t mean it gets to choose the delegates for everyone else. Think about it. Virginia called the Philadelphia Convention of 1787. Did it get to choose the delegates for Massachusetts? Of course not. Massachusetts did. Each state chooses its own delegates; it doesn’t matter who calls the convention. This is Agency law 101 and basic common sense.

Does Congress “call” the convention? Yes. Does it have any discretion whether to do so? No. Does it control the delegates or set the agenda? Absolutely not. The Founders wanted a congressional bypass in case the federal government became corrupt. What was their plan? A convention controlled by the states.

Dr. Benjamin Carson, the retired neurosurgeon whom many are urging to run for president in 2016, gave a remarkable interview to WND columnist and radio talker Bob Just recently, who was filling in as guest-host on the top-rated “Sean Hannity Show.”

Just interviewed Carson during the second hour of the Dec. 27 program. (During the third hour, Just interviewed WND Managing Editor David Kupelian and historian Ron Rychlak about the influential new book, “Disinformation.”)

With more than 500 affiliates nationwide, Hannity’s radio show, second only to that of Rush Limbaugh, is heard by roughly 13.5 million loyal listeners each week.

Carson, who retired recently as director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, became a household name for “speaking truth to power” when he delivered the keynote speech at the National Prayer Breakfast last February and, with President Obama sitting a few feet away, proceeded to brilliantly critique the Obama administration’s deficit spending, health-care takeover and more.

In October, Carson told The Hill, “[Running for president] is not something I have any desire to do whatsoever,” adding “but I certainly listen.”

He continued, “If the circumstances were to evolve in such a way that that seemed to be what God was calling me to do, I would certainly do it. And I would never turn my back on my fellow citizens, if there was a hue and cry for such.”

But on the Hannity show, Just turned aside from all the usual political questions Carson is asked, to get the famed surgeon and possible presidential contender to talk about the person who put him on the path to success – his desperately poor mother.

“She was one of 24 children and got married when she was 13 in a desperate attempt to escape the horrible environment in rural Tennessee,” said Carson. “And she and my father moved to Detroit. He was a factory worker and then she discovered some years later he was a bigamist. So there she was by herself again, trying to raise two young sons in the inner city.”

However, as Carson explained, his mother had one saving grace:

“But the interesting thing about her was, she was never a victim. She never felt sorry for herself, she never made excuses, and that was a good thing.

“The problem was, she didn’t accept excuses from us either (laughter), and that was a problem for us! So we had to learn pretty early on, just forget about making excuses cause it’s just not gonna work. …

“More importantly, we were both poor students, and she was observant, and she noticed in the homes that she cleaned – these were wealthy people – that they didn’t sit around watching TV all day. They did a lot of reading, studying and figuring things out. So she determined that that’s the life we were going to have.

“We were extremely unhappy … but it didn’t matter, we had to do it.

“Interestingly enough, after a while, as I began to read those books, particularly about people of accomplishment, I began to notice something. And that is that the person who has the most to do with what happens to you in life is you. Nobody else gets to determine that except you. And that was an incredible revelation for me and for my brother both. And we realized our terrible situation did not have to continue. We had the power to change it.”

But wait, asked Just: “She had a tough childhood. … How did she overcome that? Where did she find her authority to love you and discipline you the way she did, as a struggling single mom?”

Said Carson: “She found it in God. She became a believer, and a very strong believer …”

’I don’t want to offend anyone’

At the National Prayer Breakfast last February, broadcast live on C-SPAN2, Carson said at the outset that he didn’t want to “offend” anyone. Yet his words nonetheless made at least one distinguished guest in attendance – President Barack Obama – squirm in his seat.

For instance, taking on class-warfare economics by advocating for a 10 percent flat tax, Carson said a person who earns $10 billion should pay $1 billion in tax, while one earning $10 will pay $1 in tax.

“Some people say, ‘Well, that’s not fair because it doesn’t hurt the guy who made $10 billion as much as the guy who made 10,’” Carson said. “[But] where does it say you have to hurt the guy? He just put a billion dollars in the pot!

“We don’t need to hurt him,” Carson continued. “It’s that kind of thinking that has resulted in 602 banks in the Cayman Islands. That money needs to be back here, building our infrastructure and creating jobs.”

Carson further took aim at the swelling national debt, increasing bureaucracy and political correctness, which he called “dangerous” because it “muzzles” people and “keeps people from discussing important issues while the fabric of their society is being changed.”

But it was Carson’s proposal for health-care reform – an approach completely antithetical to the president’s massive and disastrous health-care overhaul program – that likely rankled Obama the most.

“Here’s my solution,” Dr. Carson said of America’s health-care woes. “When a person is born, give him a birth certificate, an electronic medical record and a health savings account [or HSA] to which money can be contributed – pretax – from the time you’re born ’til the time you die. When you die, you can pass it on to your family members, so that when you’re 85 years old and you got six diseases, you’re not trying to spend up everything. You’re happy to pass it on, and there’s nobody talking about death panels.

“And also, for the people who were indigent who don’t have any money,” Carson continued, “we can make contributions to their HSA each month, because we already have this huge pot of money. Instead of sending it to some bureaucracy, let’s put it in their HSAs. Now they have some control over their own health care.”

“Dr. Carson said the one thing that Obama and the Democrats do not want to hear,” Rush Limbaugh later commented. “In this case, we have an ideal replacement for Obamacare that is much better, that promotes the health-care industry, that promotes cost savings, that promotes competition and it gets everybody covered.”

Martyrdom of Christians Doubles in 2013

I hate our foreign policy. I try not to get too agitated about it on the pages of Eagle Rising because I know there is a lot of disagreement within our “family’s” foreign policy beliefs. But having to report that 2013 was a horrible year worldwide for our Christian brothers and sisters has me angry.

Our President pours millions, no billions, of dollars into fascist Islamist regime nations like Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen… all the while, they are subjugating and persecuting our brothers and sisters.

In 2013 we documented that at least Two Thousand One Hundred and Twenty Three Christians were killed for their faith. 2,123 of our brothers and sisters martyred for believing as we do. And this number is low, because these are only the martyrdoms that we can confirm.

“This is a very minimal count based on what has been reported in the media and we can confirm,” said Frans Veerman, head of research for Open Doors. Estimates by other Christian groups put the annual figure as high as 8,000.

What has our government done about it?

Nothing.

Nine of the 10 countries listed as dangerous for Christians are Muslim-majority states, many of them torn by conflicts with radical Islamists. Saudi Arabia is an exception but ranked sixth because of its total ban on practicing faiths other than Islam.
In the list of killings, Syria was followed by Nigeria with 612 cases last year after 791 in 2012. Pakistan was third with 88, up from 15 in 2012. Egypt ranked fourth with 83 deaths after 19 the previous year.
The report spoke of “horrific violence often directed at Christians” in the Central African Republic but said only nine deaths were confirmed last year because “most analysts still fail to recognize the religious dimension of the conflict.”
The report had no figures for killings in North Korea but said Christians there faced “the highest imaginable pressure” and some 50,000 to 70,000 lived in political prison camps.
Look at some of those names. Saudi Arabia, Paikistan, and Egypt. Three of our “allies” that depend on the millions of dollars we give them or the trade we complete with them. Each of them is in the top six of nations in the world that persecute Christians.
Do we demand that they set their Christians free from imprisonment? Do we demand that they cease persecution of their Christian minorities? Do we demand that they give free and fair treatment to their Christian citizens? Do we even ask for any of these things? No. We make speeches where we attempt to shame them into fairness, but they know that we will never back up our speeches with actions and so their Christian minorities continue to suffer.
If we but threatened to pull funding or political support or international trade agreements, some of these villains would change their tunes.
In Iran, Pastor Saeed Abedini has been imprisoned for over a year for his crime of being a Christian. Recently his wife learned that the American government had been at work in Iran, but not in getting her American husband released.

“Initially, when I went to the U.S. government, they said we don’t have a direct relationship with Iran,” Naghmeh Abdeini said, moments after telling a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee her husband’s health is failing in prison. “Here we were sitting across table from Iran. It was our best leverage. It should have been a precondition.”

Needless to say, she felt betrayed.

In North Korea, an American Christian was taken prisoner for “crimes against the state”,” though the North Koreans will not enlighten us to those crimes.

U.S. officials have repeatedly called on North Korea to release Bae. In August, the two countries appeared close, but North Korea rescinded an invitation to a U.S. envoy. Ambassador Robert King, President Barack Obama’s special envoy for North Korean human rights issues, had been expected to fly to Pyongyang to try to win Bae’s freedom.

Words. Nothing more.

I guess I just didn’t realize that the most powerful nation in the world was in the practice of allowing its citizens to be kidnapped and held imprisoned by their enemies.

We must demand that our government be more proactive in demanding the protection and liberties of Christians around the planet.

Obama Nominates Cop Killer Advocate to Head DOJ Civil Rights Division

In 1982, former Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal was convicted of murdering Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner. Abu-Jamal never denied the killing during his trial. He, and his supporters, are still unapologetic for Faulkner’s death. More on this from Matthew Vadum:

“The question of Abu-Jamal’s guilt is not a close call,” according to John Fund. “Two hospital workers testified that Abu-Jamal confessed to them: ‘I shot the motherf***er, and I hope the motherf***er dies.’ His brother, William, has never testified to his brother’s innocence even though he was at the scene of the crime. Abu-Jamal himself chose not to testify in his own defense.”
As Faulkner tried to arrest Abu-Jamal’s brother during a traffic stop, Abu-Jamal shot the policeman once in the back and then stood over him and shot him four more times at close range, once directly in the face. Multiple eyewitnesses were present during the crime.

One of those unapologetic supporters is former NAACP Legal Defense Official Debo P. Adegbile, who has worked tirelessly to free guilty murderer Abu-Jamal from prison. President Obama has nominated Adegbile to head the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division as an assistant attorney general to replace radical Tom Perez, who is now the Secretary of Labor. Adegbile is sure to continue carrying out the radical racial agenda of President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder with the weight of the law behind him.

After the Supreme Court threw out the Beard v. Abu-Jamal case in 2010, a petition was circulated calling for President Obama and Attorney General Holder to investigate the “long history of civil rights and constitutional violations” in Abu-Jamal’s case. If Adegbile is confirmed, it is likely he will open up an investigation into the Abu-Jamal case, despite multiple court rulings over the past three decades upholding his murder conviction.

On the voting front, there are many concerns about how Adegbile will enforce or change the law. In June 2013, the Supreme Court struck down Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act as unconstitutional, allowing states to change their voting laws without prior approval from the Justice Department. Attorney General Eric Holder has essentially ignored the ruling.Through his extensive work at the NAACP and in arguments before the Supreme Court, Adegbile has made it clear he does not believe civil rights apply to whites.

Not surprisingly, the mainstream media seems to be less interested in Adegbile’s radical ties and more interested in his role on Sesame Street as a child actor.

USA Today: Obama taps ex-Sesame Street actor for Justice post

Not every child actor grows up to be a high-ranking Justice Department official, but Debo P. Adegbile has a chance to do just that.
Adegbile, who appeared on Sesame Street during the 1970s, has been nominated to be the new assistant attorney general for civil rights; President Obama submitted the nomination to the Senate on Monday.
If confirmed, Adegbile would replace Tom Perez, the new secretary of labor.
The Los Angeles Times reported on Adegbile’s previous career:
“When he was 4 or 5, a friend noticed an ad seeking children to audition for Sesame Street. Adegbile landed the job and played the part of Debo, a child of the Sesame Street neighborhood, until high school.

Will President Obama be treated as if he’s still running America even after his term expires?

The answer is a guaranteed yes, according to Rush Limbaugh, the nation’s most-listened-to radio broadcaster.

Obama’s announcement that he plans to continue to reside in Washington, D.C., when his term ends was mostly ignored during the Christmas news cycle.

But Limbaugh heard the statement loud and clear, and offered his listeners Tuesday his opinion about Obama’s unusual decision.

“Most presidents go back home,” Limbaugh pointed out.

George Washington set the pattern, by pointedly imitating the Roman statesman Cincinnatus’ quiet return to his humble farm after serving in public office.

“Now Obama’s home is Hawaii or Chicago,” Limbaugh continued. “I fully expected Obama and Michelle to set up the Barack Obama Library of Social Justice at the University of Hawaii or something and go back there, and they may very well do that.

“But Obama says he is going to stay in Washington. Can you guess why that might be?”

Limbaugh speculated Obama wants to “stay in town to make sure that whatever he accomplishes is not unwound.”

As an example, Limbaugh said if a Republican is elected in 2016 and says certain aspects of Obamacare were sought to be dismantled, “Obama is going to call the media, and he’s going to go on TV as though he’s still president, and the media will treat him that way.

“He is going to stay there to make sure that whatever he’s done to remake this country is not changed, is not unwound,” Limbaugh added.

“I guarantee you folks, even after he’s out of office, he is going to be treated by the media as though he’s still president. And this may be the case even with a Democrat president [in office then]. Whatever the next president does, the media is going to go to Obama every day.”

The radio host noted that by staying in the public eye, Bill Clinton had already “blown up a number of time-honored traditions involving the presidency, one of which is: When you’re time is up, you go. You don’t comment on your successor.”

“I’m here to tell you that within days of the new president’s inauguration, [Obama] will be calling press conferences, and whatever he thinks is going to be the news that day. There is no other reason to stay” in Washington, he said.

Limbaugh warned his audience to “prepare” for this eventuality, which will pose a particular challenge on the new president, no matter what party he or she belongs to.

“Do not doubt me on this,” Limbaugh concluded. “I know these people. I know how they think. … [Obama will] have a satellite administration in exile.”

Hiking in the deep wilderness can be foreboding. In the morning you may find yourself in a deep ravine between the sides of two mountains, barely able to glimpse the sky above. In the afternoon you may be in a rugged, old-growth forest, completely surrounded by trees with no view of the horizon. In either case, you are headed toward a destination you cannot see. Aided by a map and compass (and now GPS), you trudge on with certain expectation of your direction.

That is what the Christian life can be like at times—walking toward a destination we cannot see, but one which we have every confidence of finding. The destination may be in this life—a decision about vocation or our children—or it may be eternal (Hebrews 11:8-16). Either way, we have a map (Psalm 119:105) and a heavenly Companion (Hebrews 13:5) upon which we depend. We don’t know specifically what next week, or eternity, will look like. We are moving toward destinations we cannot see. But that is not a problem since we walk by faith, not by sight.

Walking by faith means seeing life differently: trusting the God we cannot see (1 Peter 1:7-8) for that which He has yet to reveal.

A mixed martial arts fighter in New Mexico may face charges after authorities say he fended off four home invaders – killing one and severely injuring another – during a an early morning break in on New Year’s Day.

According to authorities in Dora Ana County, MMA fighter Joe Torrez fatally beat and stabbed one of the intruders, beat another so badly he needed to be taken from Torrez’s home in an ambulance and then convinced the other two to retreat in fear.

Authorities found the body of 25-year-old Sal Garces near Torrez’s trailer home in the 600 block of King James Avenue.

Garces, his 19-year-old brother Raymond Garces, 20-year-old Nathan Avalos and 22-year-old Leonard Calvillo forced their way into 27-year-old Torrez’s house about 2 a.m. on New Year’s day.

Once inside the home, a fight began between the intruders and Torrez – a fight that ended with Garces dead, Avalos being admitted to a hospital with ‘severe’ facial injuries and the other two fleeing the scene.

The younger Garces and Calvillo were arrested shortly after the altercation, while Avalos was taken into custody at the hospital.

What led to the fatal fight are unclear, but Raymond Garces told police the group had gone to Torrez’s home after a previous altercation, according to court documents first obtained by Las Cruces Sun News.

Court records claim that Torrez was in the home with his young son, fiance and friends when his fiance’s sister arrived claiming to have been ‘jumped.’

Torrez then received a threatening call from Calvillo.

‘I’m big Eastside,’ Calvillo reportedly said, referring to a gang. ‘… I’ll kill you and your family … I will go to your house.’

Each of the four intruders, authorities said, are known gang members.

Shortly after the threatening phone call, the people inside heard a ‘huge bang outside.’

Within a matter of seconds the four intruders were in the house.

Bad move: Sal Garces was found stabbed and beaten to death near Torrez’s home

One of the men, a witness told police, was armed with a ‘crude shank.’ Another grabbed a knife after entering the home.

An attorney for Torrez, C.J. McElhinney, says his client was acting in self-defense when he fought off the intruders.

‘He was fighting for his life,’ said McElhinney.

After the fight, Raymond Garces and Calvillo fled, authorities said. Las Cruces police helped deputies locate and arrest them, according to a news release. Both men face several felony charges. Avalos has not been charged, but the case is still under investigation.

Calvillo has been charged with aggravated battery, two counts of conspiracy and criminal damage to property. Raymond Garces was charged with two counts of conspiracy and criminal damage to property. He was being held at the detention center on a $10,000 secured bond.

Authorities haven’t ruled out charging Torrez with any crimes. A Facebook page has been setup in support of the MMA fighter.

A group of Satanists have unveiled a design for a statue of Baphomet that they hope will soon sit outside the capitol in Oklahoma City. A Ten Commandments monument was placed at the capitol in 2012, and soon after, Satanists wanted their own monument as a token of the equality of all religions. As they themselves have said, they don’t think their monument will be approved, but they hope their rejection will highlight what they think is a religious double-standard.

The design sketch depicts a seated Baphomet with a pentagram over his head, with two smiling children approaching, presumably to sit on his lap. Satanists say Baphomet’s lap can be used as a space to sit and reflect on things. I guess it could also be an Anti-Christmas fixture—all the naughty boys and girls can go sit on the lap of Satan Claws to request special curses on their enemies.

This is not entirely a joke by the way. Apparently Satanists really do want an ancient goat-headed hermaphroditic false god they honor as the symbolic linchpin of their metaphorical framework to sit in all its stupid hideousness outside the capitol of Oklahoma. But forgive me for not taking this seriously.

Aside from being the center of a controversy that eventually dismantled the Knights Templar, what has Baphomet ever done in the world? Even according to Satanists, he is no more real than a talking tortoise from Aesop’s Fables. This is not equality of religion. Because no Satanist in this small group actually worships a being named Baphomet. So it’s not a religion. If it were, we also need to allow ComicCon fanatics to put up a monument of Superman or the Green Lantern. In the name of equality of religion. These too stand in for “immortal principles.”

And even if Satanism were actually a religion, and not just a philosophical framework, there is no stipulation that every religion be represented at a state capitol. Freedom of religion is not equality of all religions, and a state has the freedom, unlike Congress, to favor a particular religion if it feels like doing so.

So I imagine when the majority of Oklahoma citizens adopt Satanism, they will erect their comical statue of Baphomet outside the capitol. That is, if the state hasn’t entirely collapsed into blood-soaked, orgiastic, anarchical dysfunction before they get around to it.

The United States didn’t invade and temporarily occupy two Islamist terror-nation-states after 9/11 on a maneuvers-locale-whim or for some sort of Maureen Dowd-defined Bush-family revenge-motive. It is true that agents of Saddam Hussein came perilously close to assassinating former President Bush41, but President Bush43 was content to continue the game of Hans-Blix-cat-and-WMD-mouse with no-fly-zone missile dodge-ball games on the side, before non-Iraqi-based terrorists hijacked three planes and killed 3000 Americans in the Lower Forty-Eight.

For decades before 9/11, terrorists sponsored by Iran, in safe havens in Taliban-Afghanistan, and trained inIraq, attacked and killed Americans overseas. Saddam Hussein conquered Kuwait and threatened to take over effective control of middle class-enabling oil supplies. Americans died to remove Iraq from Kuwait, then watched him use chemical WMD to attack his Kurdish opposition, defy the ceasefire agreement to account for WMD and fire at our no-fly-zone-enforcing planes. After 9/11 Hussein openly sponsored and appeared with the families of suicide bombers on Iraqi TV.

Before, and especially after 9/11, the United States was justified in removing his regime. We did so after 9/11 and after a surge that galvanized Iraqis against al Qaeda in Anbar Province, we removed the last safe haven of the perpetrators of 9/11 at the time.

President B. Hussein Obama unilaterally surrendered those gains, even by refusing to negotiate a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) that would have served as deterrent to the formation of future safe havens like the one from which 9/11 was launched in Afghanistan.

Today, America is less safe from future 9/11s as al Qaeda has re-taken portions of Anbar, including Fallujah:

This former neo-con does not favor long occupations of Islamist countries. But neither do we favor abandoning allies and strategic locations that empower enemies that have proven they can attack the homeland.

Our Commander-in-Chief is an appeaser that invites aggression against the United States.

Many of you know that I grew up in Boston. No, not outside of Boston. Not North of Boston. Not 2 hours from Boston. But in Boston proper. I grew up in the days when the Mafia acted in plain view. They were powerful and didn’t care who saw what. They were above the law and knew it. They owned the law and the people were afraid, some in fear of their lives, some in fear of their welfare.

I’ve been told the Chicago Mafia is much more ruthless and powerful. I can’t imagine. What I grew up with was pretty bad.

You see, they could walk up to a busy intersection, shoot someone in the head, watch him fall to the ground, pop him a few more times for good measure, and through all this, no one would “see anything.” When the police arrived, eventually, and all the local proprietors were questioned, no one ever saw anything, ever! They knew something unspeakable would happen to them and no one could help them.

This is how the American people are feeling about the Obama administration. This “Gang” never stops. This Gang is above the law, with President Obama acting as “Don” or leader and Attorney General Eric Holder as his “Capo” or captain. This Gang has so crippled the people of this country that we have gone from a nation to fear and respect to a nation to be ridiculed and laughed at.

The Gang has ruined our relationships oversees. Nobel peace prize winner and freedom fighter Lech Wałęsa recently said that Mr. Obama has ruined the credibility of America.

Americans should have seen this coming as far back as the 2009 elections. The New Black Panther group intimidates white voters ON VIDEO. Don Obama’s ultimate law officer, Capo Holder, does NOTHING! DOJ attorney J. Christian Adams quit his job because he was basically told to back off. When he wouldn’t let it go, the Gang made it very uncomfortable for him.

Election fraud is not investigated. Tens of thousands of dead and illegals voted in the last presidential election and Capo Holder did NOTHING!

Many states have legalized marijuana, however, it is still against federal law and Capo Holder does NOTHING! The chief law enforcement officer of the United States, Capo Holder, won’t bother the states as long as they adhere to a few guidelines, one being it can’t be sold to minors. Because that law works so well on cigarettes and booze. No minors ever get those. (Yes, that’s sarcasm!)

The Gang won’t enforce a law banning same sex couples from receiving veterans benefits. Capo Holder said that even though it’s the law “Decisions by the Executive branch not to enforce federal laws are appropriately rare,” (though not with this Gang), this one makes sense because the law will eventually change. (Is that how our legal system works now?)

The Gang won’t prosecute Goldman Sachs or its employees for financial fraud. Capo Holder said, “We conducted an exhaustive investigation of allegations brought to light by a Senate panel investigating the financial crisis. And feel there is not enough to prosecute.” Huh? Every other agency but the Gang has found evidence of fraud.

Family members of Don Obama have somehow eluded immigration laws and the DOJ because the Gang has protected them. His uncle in Boston has owned a liquor store, been “technically” deported several times, failed to show up for deportation hearings several times, and been arrested for drunk driving. Even after all that, he is still running around free in this country! His aunt is fleecing welfare and wants more AND she is not even an American citizen.

Fast and furious caused the death of a Border Patrol Officer (at least one officer that we know of, and countless other people) and the Gang refuses to allow the DOJ to investigate.

Meanwhile, the Gang is actively pursuing at least one law-abiding German immigrant family to deport them back to their country of origin. Why? Their visa expired and their reason for seeking political asylum isn’t good enough for the Gang. A judge granted their asylum petition, but Capo Holder’s DOJ takes time out of their busy schedule to overturn the ruling and is deporting them anyway.

Yet the Gang refuses to pursue more pressing issues of national security, immigration, and voting laws and simply enforce the other laws on the books? What does this family have that the others don’t have? It’s actually what they don’t have… a connection to the Gang.

I could write so much more on this. Don Obama issues laws AKA Executive Orders. For someone who was supposed to be a constitutional professor he has no clue as to how a “bill becomes a law” and the checks and balances called out in the Constitution.

He obviously doesn’t understand that the presidency and a dictatorship are NOT one in the same.

People, PAY ATTENTION, the REAL MOB is working the White House. You have to play by their rules. Laws are only for you to follow and them to change on a whim. And should you happen to get in the way… there’s always the IRS.

Wake up America… or you’re going to lose it!

Exposing the Global Efforts Behind the Homosexual Agenda

Over the past three years, Americans have been witness to vicious media assaults on any group or business that goes against the politically-correct position on same sex-marriage and the gay agenda. Chick- Fil-A and Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson immediately come to mind; however, there have been other instances of state intervention against private businesses refusing to sell wedding cakes to same-sex couples as well. To put it simply, there is an obvious effort on the part of the left to demonize anyone who disagrees with the homosexual agenda and the argument being used is that disagreement with their ideals equates to hatred and bigotry. As the battle against political correctness and the gay agenda continues, it should be noted that this is a fight that is occurring on a global scale as well. The New American is reporting on a story from Italy where the media has been exposed as forcing journalists to report on the gay lifestyle in a positive light or perhaps face consequences as harsh as jail time. What is most significant about this development is the fact that these mandates are coming from the superior European Union governing structure; they are being forced onto Italy’s government from a U.N. type global governing body. The Italian government is not taking this lightly and in fact, like many people in America, the parliament are calling the homosexual agenda out for what it is, a fascistic, dictatorial type movement where any disagreement or opposition must be eliminated. That would all be done in the name of fairness, of course. This is similar to the efforts made earlier in the spring of 2013, by the DOJ, to force acceptance of the gay life style in the American work place. While many Americans are simply “O.K.” with people being gay already, as long as they don’t have it shoved down their throats, or as long as their sexual exploits stay where they should, in their private lives; Eric Holder thought this wasn’t “fair enough.” Claiming that a failure to make some sort of positive comment towards a person gay lifestyle was a “sort of discrimination” if you will. The truth is, the radical homosexual lobby is just another leftist, communist front group dedicated to the destruction of traditional morality and America’s Christian heritage. Communists believe that the only way they can force human beings into subjugation is by destroying any connection to the divine. The first step in doing this is destroying morality. This is done by the promotion of homosexuality as being normal and healthy, exactly what is going on in our schools today. This is actually listed as one of the goals of the Communist Party (Number 26): Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural and healthy.”

By promoting homosexuality as normal, human beings are turned against one of the very purposes of their existence, procreation. It is self destructive because if enough people are encouraged to be gay the growth of the human population would be limited. There is a good chance that the communists seeking to change our culture are fully aware of this as well, which is why they got behind the movement. Is it possible that the teaching of homosexuality is also geared to aid in U.N. population control efforts? Looking at the points made in my article “The Truth of Agenda 21” where the U.N. has been exposed using abortion and family planning to achieve such ends you can’t discount the possibility. Whatever the case may be, the left knew the homosexual movement would tear America apart.

Once Americans are separated from the divine then the idea of God given rights, the idea of “liberty being derived from God” is all but destroyed. Men then become subjects of the state, they look to government to grant them rights, and they look to government to solve their problems. I believe that this is the true motivation behind the gay agenda. If what they believe is normal and acceptable, then why do they feel the need to shove it down our throats? They claim homosexuality is normal because it can be observed in the animal kingdom while marriage is something that is not observed in nature. This, as I have pointed out several other times is a result of Darwinism in our schools. By placing man in a category where he is no different than any other animal, the foundation for separating him from the divine built. No one has to force the idea of men and women being married down society’s throat because there is an obvious reason for the coupling of men and women, the creation and the raising of children. The coupling of same sex couples has no obvious reasoning; therefore it is hard to accept as normal no matter how hard the communist left attempt to normalize it.

4 points to guide you in 2014: a most memorable sermon

Our oldest daughter Aubrey headed back to college today at Nova Southeastern so we all drove down to our home church, Community Christian in Broward County, for the first services of the New Year. Our Senior Pastor, Scott Eynon, delivered one of his best messages ever — please indulge me as I share the summary.

The sermon was titled, “How to Make the Most of Your New Year” and one of the core scriptures was Jeremiah 29:11, New International Version (NIV): “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Pastor Scott emphasized four points:

1. Accept responsibility for your life, your actions, no blame game. He emphasized that you will never reach God’s potential for your life by blaming others (a possible message for our own president?). The Bible even addresses that premise in Galatians 5:6, — “for each one should carry their own load.” I also liked this quote from John Maxwell: “Life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent how you respond to it.”

2. Believe you can change and set goals. If you want something to be different, first you have to want it, and second you have to commit to hard work, focus, and discipline in achieving it. Pastor Scott did a comparative analysis between the malaise of King Solomon in Ecclesiastes 1:9 against the inspirational vision of Isaiah 43:18 (NIV): “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.” I choose the latter and Scott recommended we all do. He talked about choosing spiritual empowerment over popular psychology and pointed to the promise from two of my favorite biblical verses, Joshua 1:9 and Phillipians 4:13.

3. Clarify what you really want.Pastor Scott used the base scripture of Job 34:3-4 N (NIV): “For the ear tests words as the tongue tastes food. Let us discern for ourselves what is right let, us learn together what is good.” We m ust ask ourselves what are our values and priorities, and clarify what is important, as Scott articulated, “our values determine our vision,” — an appropriate statement for our elected leaders. Scott went onto say, “urgent things are seldom important and important things are seldom urgent.” I had a leadership maxim when in the Army, “if everything is a priority, then nothing is a priority.” The key is a value- based system of prioritization that keeps one focused and grounded. 4. Do it now. This reminded me of the Nike campaign, “Just Do It.” Scott spoke about how we procrastinate by using the age-old excuse that we are waiting for the perfect moment. Solomon’s wisdom shows clearly in this verse, Ecclesiastes 11:4 (NIV) “Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.” In other words, if you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done. In the Army we put it this way, “don’t let perfect be the enemy of good enough.”

In closing, Pastor Scott used Luke 2:52 to draw our attention to the four aspects of personal development: intellectual, physical, spiritual, and social. Focus on what we want to learn, what will improve our health, what will deepen our relationship with God, and how to improve our interpersonal relationships. Pastor Scott left us with three seminal questions as we embark upon 2014: What do I value? What do I want to change? What is going to last?

Some may just brush this message aside. However, as I sat there in church, God laid it upon my heart to share this message with all of you. I hope, I pray, that perhaps as you prepare for the first full week of 2014, these words can give you courage and inspiration, not just as an individual, but also for our country.

I leave you with these final words, from Paul as he sat in a Roman prison and wrote this letter to the believers in Phillipi, Phillipians 3:13-14, (ESV):

Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

My goal may be different from yours but nonetheless, I hope you will at least establish goals for yourself — and perhaps for our country.

Government Intrudes Into Virtually Every Aspect of Our Lives

No matter how we label ourselves — conservative, liberal, moderate or none of the above — we all must grapple with the ever-expanding size and scope of government.

America has reached a tipping point. The federal government has grown exponentially, not just in spending, but in its reach. Government intrudes into virtually every aspect of our daily lives, from the type of toilet we can buy, to the mix of fuel we put in our cars, to the kind of light bulb we can use.

Government policies have stifled domestic energy production while pouring billions of tax dollars into alternative-energy subsidies, reflecting the elitist, “progressive” faith that bureaucrats can pick winners and losers better than individuals making voluntary decisions in their own interests can. Unelected bureaucrats have been empowered to stipulate what health services we will purchase, and how and from whom we will receive them.

Excessive government intervention not only limits individual freedoms, it stifles entrepreneurial creativity and job creation. It locks the poor into a lifetime of dependency and poverty. And it limits the ability of hard-working Americans to enjoy upward mobility.

The federal government also dominates in spheres of activity traditionally reserved to the states. This leaves little or no room for state-level innovation in areas such as education, transportation, health care, welfare and even law enforcement.

The pace of expansion has been breathtaking. The rapid growth of federal grasp and reach is unsettling, leading Americans to question whether their children will inherit a better future — and even whether it’s still possible to achieve the American Dream.

That’s why it’s more important than ever for us, as we begin a new year, to recommit ourselves to the principles that led to the founding of our great nation.

At the heart of these principles is the belief that people are free by nature and possess inherent rights. The use each of us makes of these rights will naturally differ, and the outcomes of those choices will naturally differ, too. The choice remains ours.

Freedom is thus inextricably bound up with living our lives as we see fit. This is self-government in the truest sense of the term. We the people need not slavishly defer to experts. We can be trusted to govern ourselves.

That is why government must remain limited. The people have given it only limited powers, as described in the Constitution. When government takes more than we have given it, it renders our choices meaningless. At worst, unlimited government is tyrannical; at best, it imposes a dull uniformity that crushes true diversity and saps the independent spirit of the people.

The Founders understood this. That’s why they avoided creating a government that could be dominated by a single faction. Whether that faction was a minority or a majority, it would seek to promote its own narrow interests at the expense of the people’s liberties. The Constitution’s checks and balances are intended to restrain the ambition of the powerful — to ensure that government genuinely promotes “the general Welfare.”

As the federal government has grown over the past century, the business of government has increasingly become taking from Paul to benefit Peter, and then borrowing from Peter to pay off Paul. What the supporters of big government call the general welfare is merely the artful distribution of favors to particular factions.

The federal government is not supposed to be the most important institution in America. In securing the general welfare, it is supposed to do only those things that are provided for in the Constitution.

It must, for example, provide for the common defense and regulate our relations with foreign nations. It must respect our right to enjoy the fruits of our labor by taxing lightly, and defend the freedom of the marketplace by ensuring the rule of law.

And it must remember that the family and religion are where we learn virtue — and that without virtue, government cannot be both limited and free.

Let’s see if we can move America back in the right direction together during 2014.

Seven Minimum Wage Facts That Have Democrats Worried

With the midterm elections just over 300 days away, nervous Democrats reeling from the Obamacare debacle are hoping a big push to raise the minimum wage will be the silver bullet that will spare them from the historic losses they suffered in 2010.

Democrats and unions are busy working to get minimum wage initiatives on state ballots in the hopes of creating an electoral “minimum wage magnet” to attract low-income, minority, and union voters to the polls.

Seven minimum wage facts, however, may diminish Democrats’ high hopes.

1. Just 2.8% of American workers earn at or below the minimum wage.

The U.S. Department of Labor says 1.6 million people make the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour. Another 2 million earn below that rate, such as restaurant servers who make tips in addition to a lower base hourly wage which, according to U.S. News and World Report, “in many cases actually puts them significantly above the minimum wage in reality, if not officially.” That means in a nation of 317 million people, just 3.6 million (1.1%) make at or below the minimum wage. As a share of the U.S. workforce, just 2.8% of people working make minimum wage.

2. Half of all minimum wage workers are 16 to 24 years old.

According to the Department of Labor, “minimum wage workers tend to be young,” and “about half of those paid the Federal minimum wage or less” are below age 25. Many of these are students working while in school or teenagers with part-time or summer jobs. That means half of the people most affected by a minimum wage hike are among those least likely to show up at the polls to vote, especially in a midterm election year. Indeed, minimum wage workers who are 16 and 17 years old are not even legally eligible to vote.

3. Labor workers already make well above the minimum wage.

Democrats and unions hoping labor workers will be energized by a minimum wage bump will be sad to know that laborers in every single sector of what the government calls “production and nonsupervisory employees”—like manufacturing, construction, mining, retail, transportation, etc.—already earn well above the minimum wage. In fact, in November 2013, the government reported that the average hourly labor wage across all industries was $20.31—a figure nearly three times the federal minimum wage. And as the unions themselves boast, a union member’s annual salary is already $10,400 higher than a non-union worker.

4. Even those who support minimum wage hikes concede it could kill jobs.

Many economists and conservatives point to the body of economic literature that shows minimum wage increases kill jobs and simply encourage companies to pass along the added cost in the form of higher prices. But even ardent supporters like socialist Seattle City Council member Kshama Sawant, who recently helped pass a $15 minimum wage in the SeaTac, Washington, concede the move could spawn job losses. “There may be a few jobs lost here and there, but the fact is, if we don’t fight for this, then the race to the bottom will continue,” said Sawant.

5. Minorities and the poor are hit hardest by the minimum wage.

Nobel Prize-winning economist Milton Friedman famously noted that “the most anti-black law on the books of this land is the minimum wage law.” Higher wages mean employers seek higher, more skilled workers. That, said Friedman, puts those with disproportionately less education and experience at a significant disadvantage when looking to put their foot on the first rung of the employment ladder.

6. Even progressives concede the minimum wage is no panacea for America’s economic woes.

President Barack Obama’s former chairwoman of the Council of Economic Economic Advisers Christina Romer says, “economic analysis raises questions about whether a higher minimum wage will achieve better outcomes for the economy and reduce poverty.” As a result, says Romer, “most economists prefer other ways to help low-income families.” Similarly, progressive Daily Beast writer Jamelle Bouie says while he supporters the move, “the minimum wage is a Band-Aid for wage stagnation and income inequality” and “doesn’t make up for our sluggish economy and weak labor market.”

7. 21 states already have minimum wages that are higher than the federal $7.25/hr rate.

Just last week, 13 states boosted their minimum wage rates above the federal minimum wage rate of $7.25/hr. That means 21 states now already have minimum wages that exceed the federal rate.

For these reasons and more, Republicans see Democrats’ minimum wage tactic as a desperate attempt to run from the Obama record.

“If I had a dollar for every time Democrats thought their issue of the week was going to be their pathway to victory, I would have enough money to pay taxpayers back all the money that was wasted on the broken Obamacare website,” said Republican Congressional Campaign Committee spokeswoman Andrea Bozek.

Republican senators on Saturday blamed the Obama administration for Al Qaeda affiliates over-running parts of Iraq, including the city of Fallujah, which the United States secured before President Obama removed all U.S. forces from that country in 2011.

Sen. John McCain, Arizona, and Lindsey Graham, South Carolina, called the recent turn of events “as tragic as they were predictable” and suggested Obama misled Americans into believing that Iraqi leaders wanted U.S. forces out of their country.

“While many Iraqis are responsible for this strategic disaster, the administration cannot escape its share of the blame,” the senators said in a joint statement. “When President Obama withdrew all U.S. forces … over the objections of our military leaders and commanders on the ground, many of us predicted that the vacuum would be filled by America’s enemies and would emerge as a threat to U.S. national security interests. Sadly, that reality is now clearer than ever.”

The Al Qaeda-affiliated fighters took over Fallujah on Friday after a bloody three-day battle, raising their flag over government buildings as a sign of victory, according to The Washington Post.

At least eight people were killed and dozens injured Friday night as the Iraqi army tries to regain control of the city. The army, which lobbed mortar bombs in its response, has been joined in the fray by tribesmen from Ramadi, a Sunni stronghold.

U.S. forces secured Fallujah in 2004 after one of the deadliest battles of the Iraq war. Fallujah became notorious among Americans when insurgents in 2004 killed four American security contractors and hung their burned bodies from a bridge.

After the recent takeover by Al Qaeda-tied fighters, the Obama administration on Saturday called the attacks barbaric and said it is working with the Iraqi government and the tribal leaders.

“We are … concerned by efforts of the terrorist Al Qaeda/Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant to assert its authority in Syria as well as Iraq,” said State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf. “Their barbarism against civilians of Ramadi and Fallujah and against Iraqi Security Forces is on display for all to see.”

Major Sunni tribes turned against Al Qaeda before the American withdrawal at the end of 2011. But they do not support the Shiite-led government in Iraq, creating an odd alliance in the battle against militants.

“The administration’s narrative that Iraq’s political leadership objected to U.S. forces remaining in Iraq after 2011 is patently false,” said McCain and Graham, military hawks with an active interest in Middle East affairs. “We know firsthand that Iraq’s main political blocs were supportive and that the administration rejected sound military advice and squandered the opportunity to conclude a security agreement with Iraq.”

On Friday, the Al Qaeda affiliates tried to win over the population in Fallujah with a militant commander appearing among worshippers holding Friday prayers in the main city street, proclaiming that his fighters were there to defend Sunnis from the government, a resident said.

There have been no reports on the total number of people injured or killed in the fighting that started earlier this week.

The overrunning of Fallujah and Ramadi, another Sunni stronghold, by Al Qaeda’s Iraqi branch in the Sunni heartland of western Anbar provinces is a blow to the Shiite-led government of Prime Minister al-Maliki. His government has been struggling to contain discontent among the Sunni minority over Shiite political domination that has flared into increased violence for the past year.

Anbar province, a desert area on the borders with Syria and Jordan, has almost an entirely Sunni population. The area served as the heartland of the Sunni insurgency that rose up against American troops and the Iraqi government after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein. Authorities earlier this week arrested a senior Sunni politician and dismantled a months-old sit-in in Ramadi sparking anger among Sunnis.

In an effort to ease tensions, al-Maliki pulled the military out of Anbar cities to transfer security duties to local police, a top demand of Sunnis who see the army as a tool of al-Maliki’s rule. Al Qaeda militants then erupted in Fallujah and Ramadi overrunning police station, driving out security forces and freeing prisoners.

“Thousands of brave Americans who fought, shed their blood, and lost their friends to bring peace to Fallujah and Iraq are now left to wonder whether these sacrifices were in vain,” said McCain and Graham, who argued the administration’s failure in Iraq has been compounded by its failed policy in Syria.

That country is involved in a years-long civil war in which tens of thousands have been killed or driven from their homeland, which the senators say has resulted in a regional conflict that now threatens U.S. national security interests.

The senators also called on Obama to learn from the Iraq experience and promptly decide on the troop levels needed to secure U.S. national security interests in Afghanistan and to keep out Al Qaeda and its terrorist allies.

I love the music from the 80s. The other day I heard one of my favorite songs from that era by Missing Persons — “Words” — and the refrain truly struck a chord: “What are words for, when no one listens anymore?” Unfortunately, with our sound bite mentality, we are no longer paying attention to words — to our detriment.

The progressive agenda being laid out by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is truly frightening as we reported yesterday. He clearly articulated his plans to attack free market success in the nation’s largest city. Was anyone paying attention?

Scott Stringer, the new Comptroller of New York City, is unfortunately on the same page. Here’s some of what he had to say in his inaugural address:

There will be those who say that we as a city cannot afford to tackle poverty and inequality. As Comptroller, I say we can’t afford not to. I believe that pursing a progressive agenda and being fiscally responsible is not mutually exclusive. We can and we must do both… And just as America has historically looked to New York for inspiration, so the country once again turns its eyes toward us today, to this city, to our people, for a blueprint of a thriving hopeful future, to a city that puts people above politics, and shared prosperity above individual success.

I hate to break it to the NYC Comptroller, but it is impossible to pursue a progressive agenda and be fiscally responsible. A progressive agenda is rooted in a Marxist/socialist governing philosophy, which means a government-centric economy aimed at wealth redistribution to combat “inequality.” The result is and always has been that government grows in size and scope to provide more services under the guise of fairness.

It eventually leads to higher government spending and that means taking more resources from the hard working and/or more borrowing, an increase in debt, and of course larger deficits.

Stringer unabashedly articulates his bottom line for a progressive agenda: shared prosperity above individual success. Those words should send a chill down the backs of every New Yorker and every American. The Comptroller of the nation’s largest city does not believe in the fundamental premise upon which America was created — individual rights and determination.

This is the essence of the “collective vision” of a progressive agenda. Yes, it’s a communist manifesto, the reduction of the individual and the elevation of the group, the collective. What are words for when no one listens anymore?

Perhaps some are listening because apparently Florida just surpassed New York in terms of population. Of course the weather is better down here, but I’m quite certain taxes have a little to do with the decision to move as well.

ObamaCare foul-ups lead to chaos at hospitals As expected, it’s chaos in the hospitals, as the disastrous system Barack Obama inflicted on America leaves medical staff uncertain whether patients have valid insurance. This is yet another reason why it was important for the chief executive to stay on top of his signature initiative, and order the plug pulled when it became clear the system was not ready for launch on October 1. But instead, as we all know, the Empty Chair just assumed everything was going great, and later claimed he was the most angry and frustrated person in America when he read the newspapers and discovered Healthcare.gov was a useless mass of bugs and unfinished code.

Judging by a report at the UK Daily Mail, there are people who would hotly dispute the President’s claim of being the most frustrated victim of the Healthcare.gov fiasco:

Hospital staff in Northern Virginia are turning away sick people on a frigid Thursday morning because they can’t determine whether their Obamacare insurance plans are in effect.

Patients in a close-in DC suburb who think they’ve signed up for new insurance plans are struggling to show their December enrollments are in force, and health care administrators aren’t taking their word for it.

In place of quick service and painless billing, these Virginians are now facing the threat of sticker-shock that comes with bills they can’t afford.

‘They had no idea if my insurance was active or not!’ a coughing Maria Galvez told MailOnline outside the Inova Healthplex facility in the town of Springfield.

She was leaving the building without getting a needed chest x-ray.

‘The people in there told me that since I didn’t have an insurance card, I would be billed for the whole cost of the x-ray,’ Galvez said, her young daughter in tow. ‘It’s not fair – you know, I signed up last week like I was supposed to.’

Hey, remember how the Administration was running around and claiming victory because the system was “fixed” after Thanksgiving weekend? That was funny as hell, wasn’t it? To this day, Obama’s team of liars claims they have no way of determining how many valid insurance policies have been sold through the ObamaCare exchanges. They throw out a lot of crazy made-up numbers, which the media dutifully reports as if they were valid facts, but the one and only metric that actually matters for the moment is how many fully-processed policies have seen their first completed payment. The people described by the Daily Mail are learning that the hard way. Ms. Galvez said no one has even sent her a bill yet.

The Daily Mail goes on to speculate that Galvez wouldn’t be in much better shape if she did have valid ObamaCare coverage, because it stinks – she’d have to pay a $5,500 deductible before seeing any benefits from her “bronze” plan. She’s paying a whopping $450 per month in premiums – or, rather, she will, when someone gets around to sending her a bill.

A similar situation frustrated Mary, an African-American woman small businesswoman who asked MailOnline not to publish her last name. She was leaving the Inova Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia with two family members.

‘I had chest pains last night, and they took me in the emergency room,’ Mary said. ‘They told me they were going to admit me, but when I told them I hadn’t heard from my insurance company since I signed up, they changed their tune.’

She told MailOnline that a nurse advised her that her bill would go up by at least $3,000 if she were admitted for a day, and her doctor told her the decision was up to her.

‘Should I be in the hospital? Probably,’ she said. ‘Maybe it’s one of those borderline cases. I have to think that if I were really in danger, they wouldn’t give me the choice. But what if I think I’m covered and I’m really not?’

‘The emergency room bill is going to be bad enough.’

Remember, the stated reason Democrats are putting us all through this ordeal was to make insurance coverage available to people who didn’t have it before. Those people are going to be exceptionally confused when they try to use their expensive new benefits and discover they’re still on the hook for enormous out-of-pocket expenses, to say nothing of getting turned away because the lousy Soviet-surplus computer system can’t even determine if they have coverage.

As for the people who used to have coverage, but ran afoul of Obama’s Big Lie and saw their plans canceled, Democrats are still trying to push back against this disgrace by claiming that “only” half a million people (the Obama Administration), or maybe as few as 10,000 people (congressional Democrats) will end the year without coverage due to ObamaCare. Even that lowball number from the Democrat caucus is not at all what they promised, over and over again, when they were ramming the Affordable Care Act through Congress. Also, those who lost their preferred plans and were able to make other arrangements before December 31 still count as betrayed by Obama’s Big Lie. They were just fortunate enough to work something out with their providers, saving them from the hell of the ObamaCare exchanges… which, incidentally, received a 59 percent negative rating from users according to Gallup, with 29 percent “very negative.” Let’s see how those numbers look after the hospital and clinic chaos of January.

More vignettes of confusion from the Associated Press:

In Burlington, Vt., the state’s largest hospital had almost two dozen patients seek treatment with new health insurance policies, but more than half of those did not have insurance cards. Minnesota’s health care exchange said 53,000 people had enrolled for coverage through its marketplace, but it was unable to confirm the insurance status of an additional 19,000 people who created accounts but did not appear to have purchased plans.

In Connecticut, officials were pleading for patience as call centers fielded calls from people who are concerned because they had yet to receive a bill for premiums or an insurance identification card.

“This is an unprecedented time, because there are a record number of people who have applied for coverage with an effective date of Jan. 1,” said Donna Tommelleo, a spokeswoman for the Connecticut Department of Insurance.

[…] Julie Cadorette, 63, of Maynard, Mass., said she has spent dozens of hours on the phone trying to find out the status of her application through Massachusetts Health Connect, which she said she sent by certified mail three months ago. Her current plan ends Jan. 31.

“It’s very hard to deal with them, they’re so behind,” she said Thursday. “When you call them, they ask you specific questions. You can’t ask them any questions.”

That’s pretty sad, considering that Massachusetts was already accustomed to the joys of State-controlled health insurance. Remember how one of Obama’s campaign tactics was claiming Romneycare in Massachusetts was the model for his plan? Somehow I don’t think you’ll be hearing much of that talking point in the future, now that ObamaCare has plunged even Mitt Romney’s old gubernatorial stomping grounds into chaos.

Just imagine how things must be going in a big state like California! Oh, wait, we don’t have to imagine. The Associated Press checked in with them, too:

In California, employees of the state health exchange were still going through some 19,000 paper applications sent in the early days after Covered California launched on Oct. 1, spokesman Dana Howard said. He could not say how many were outstanding.

The entire tracking system was “in a sort of chaos” Thursday as consumers tried to use or confirm their new insurance, said Kelly Fristoe, an insurance agent in Wichita Falls, Texas.

“I’ve got pharmacies that are calling in to verify benefits on these new plans that are getting incorrect information,” he said. “I have people that are calling to make their initial premium payment, and they’ve been on hold for maybe three or four hours at a time and then they get hung up on.”

And we’re only three days into this nightmare. Depending on how seriously one takes the Administration’s claims of 2.1 million “enrollees,” and the failure rate for information relayed from the ObamaCare exchanges to insurance providers, we could be looking at 700,000 to 1 million people in coverage limbo. Obviously, most of them haven’t tried seeing a doctor or filling a prescription… yet. A report at The Hill says everyone in the industry is bracing themselves for a “spike” of activity next week, which is when gale-force winds of wackiness will truly begin howling across the fruited plain. Wal-Mart and Walgreens are already offering to hand out a free month of prescriptions, with no upfront cost, to ObamaCare victims… er, customers… through the end of January.

And while the private sector he despises has once again saved Obama’s bacon, it doesn’t sound like doctors are going to play along with these seat-of-the-pants fixes for long:

Dr. John Venetos, a Chicago gastroenterologist, said there was “tremendous uncertainty and anxiety” among patients calling his office.

“They’re not sure if they have coverage. It puts the heavy work on the physician,” Venetos said. “At some point, every practice is going to make a decision about how long can they continue to see these patients for free if they are not getting paid.”

Did you enjoy President Obama’s caricature of your profession as a bunch of profiteering tonsil-thieving vampires back in 2009, Dr. Venetos? Just wait until he tears into you after you start refusing patients due to ObamaCare insurance chaos.

It’s not just ObamaCare policy purchases in turmoil, either. Both the Daily Mail and Associated Press mention the Medicaid applicants stuck in limbo because the system can’t process them, either. Yesterday we heard of 16,000 Iowans caught in this Sargasso Sea of incompetence; the AP speaks of another 25,000 in Pennsylvania.

No doubt Democrats will portray all this as a small price to pay for the Great Health Care Leap Forward, having made an ice-cold political calculation that they can live without the votes of the people who spent hours of their valuable time fighting a bug-riddled system to buy insurance they can’t even use. They’re gambling that general public discontent can be kept under control, while some the people suffering through January (and probably February) chaos can persuaded to forget their tribulations when it’s time to hit the ballot boxes this year. They’re already trying to make everyone forget about the humiliating launch-pad detonation of the ObamaCare system in October. But as we can see from today’s chaos, it matters that the system wasn’t ready for prime time when it was launched. The shock waves from that botched rollout will rumble throughout the year to come. And for some of the people who showed up at hospitals and clinics to use coverage that doesn’t really exist, the results are a lot more than merely “inconvenient.”

Update: If you think ObamaCare is confusing now, just wait until you try to add a new baby to your health insurance plan. The statist geniuses who designed this boondoggle forgot to add that capability to the system. It’s not so great at handling other “life changes affecting a consumer’s taxpayer-subsidized premiums” either, according to the Associated Press… such as “marriage and divorce, a death in the family, a new job or a change in income, even moving to a different community.”

Americans asked to refrain from doing any of those things until President Obama blows another hundred million dollars of your money updating the exchange software to add new features, such as a “Have you died recently?” check box for the subsidy calculator.

Cold: Denitra Green allegedly drove away as her cohort stole Jay Z tickets from a seller they’d connected through on Craigslist. The seller clung to their car and was dragged, disfigured and then run over

A Houston man was disfigured and nearly killed when the women he was selling Jay Z tickets to sped away as he leaned into their car, leaving him clinging desperately to the door handle.

The unnamed victim begged Denitra Green and Cessica Darden, both 20, to stop the car but police say Green continued speeding away while Darden kicked at his hands in an attempt to get him to fall off.

As Darden’s baby sat in the backseat, Green continued to drive after the car ran over the man’s nearly lifeless body.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Darden had told the victim they’d need to meet in a parking lot, with her in the car, because she was unable to leave her young child.

Court documents indicate that the man held on to the speeding vehicle at the back seat, right beside where Darden’s child sat.

‘[Darden] kicked his arm so hard, they broke it,’ the victim’s attorney Andino Reynal told KTRK. ‘It was a clean break. He’s going to have to have surgery. When the arm broke, he came off the car and the car ran over his legs.’

The man broke a leg, an arm, tore a knee cap, and suffered disfiguring facial wounds.

‘He was begging them and instead of stopping, they drove faster,’ Reynal said.

He will in all likelihood live out his life with diminished use of his right hand and one of his legs.

The man remained in the hospital Thursday in the wake of the devastating December 15 incident and faces plastic surgeries and the possibility of never regaining the use of some fingers thanks to extensive broken bones and horrific road rash.

Horrified witnesses gave the police the car’s license plate number.

The victim was also able to provide the contact information the women had used leading up to their meeting.

But they were led to the suspects by way of something far more shocking: police went to the December 19 concert and found them in seats matching those for which the victim had been selling tickets on Craigslist.

The witnesses and victim would later identify Green in a lineup. She was then arrested.

Police said the women admitted to the crime and showed no remorse even after being shown pictures of the grisly injuries they allegedly caused the man.

9 Things You Didn’t Know About the Second Amendment

1. The Second Amendment codifies a pre-existing right

We hold these truths to be self-evident...inalienable

The Constitution doesn’t grant or create rights; it recognizes and protects rights that inherently exist. This is why the Founders used the word “unalienable” previously in the Declaration of Independence; these rights cannot be created or taken away. In D.C. vs. Heller, the Supreme Court said the Second Amendment “codified a pre-existing right. The very text of the Second Amendment implicitly recognizes the pre-existence of the right and declares only that it “shall not be infringed … this is not a right granted by the Constitution” (p. 19).

2. The Second Amendment protects individual, not collective rights

The use of the word “militia” has created some confusion in modern times, because we don’t understand the language as it was used at the time the Constitution was written. However, the Supreme Court states in context, “it was clearly an individual right” (p. 20). The operative clause of the Second Amendment is “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed,” which is used three times in the Bill of Rights. The Court explains that “All three of these instances unambiguously refer to individual rights, not ‘collective’ rights, or rights that may be exercised only through participation in some corporate body” (p. 5), adding “nowhere else in the Constitution does a ‘right’ attributed to “the people” refer to anything other than an individual right” (p. 6).

3. Every citizen is the militia

To further clarify regarding the use of the word “militia,” the court states “the ordinary definition of the militia as all able-bodied men” (p. 23). Today we would say it is all citizens, not necessarily just men. The Court explains: “’Keep arms’ was simply a common way of referring to possessing arms, for militiamen and everyone else” (p. 9). Since the militia is all of us, it doesn’t mean “only carrying a weapon in an organized military unit” (p. 11-12). “It was clearly an individual right, having nothing whatever to do with service in a militia” (p. 20).

4. Personal self-defense is the primary purpose of the Second Amendment

We often hear politicians talk about their strong commitment to the Second Amendment while simultaneously mentioning hunting. Although hunting is a legitimate purpose for firearms, it isn’t the primary purpose for the Second Amendment. The Court states “the core lawful purpose [is] self-defense” (p. 58), explaining the Founders “understood the right to enable individuals to defend themselves … the ‘right of self-preservation’ as permitting a citizen to ‘repe[l] force by force’ when ‘the intervention of society in his behalf, may be too late to prevent an injury’ (p.21). They conclude “the inherent right of self-defense has been central to the Second Amendment right” (p.56).

5. The Second Amendment exists to prevent tyranny

You’ve probably heard this. It’s listed because this is one of those things about the Second Amendment that many people think is made up. In truth, this is not made up. The Court explains that in order to keep the nation free (“security of a free state”), then the people need arms: “When the able-bodied men of a nation are trained in arms and organized, they are better able to resist tyranny” (p.24-25). The Court states that the Founders noted “that history showed that the way tyrants had eliminated a militia consisting of all the able bodied men was not by banning the militia but simply by taking away the people’s arms, enabling a select militia or standing army to suppress political opponents” (p. 25). At the time of ratification, there was real fear that government could become oppressive: “during the 1788 ratification debates, the fear that the federal government would disarm the people in order to impose rule through a standing army or select militia was pervasive” (p.25). The response to that concern was to codify the citizens’ militia right to arms in the Constitution (p. 26).

It’s one of the most blatant examples of Soviet-style media disinformation and manipulation I’ve ever seen, here in the West, in my life: A prominent, big-city newspaper deliberately distorting/omitting a salient detail of an important news story, in order to provide cover for the evil school of economic thought that their editors share with yet another crazed, violent attacker of innocents.

It’s bad enough that we’ve already seen numerous examples of the democrat-run mainstream media trying to smear the Tea Party & conservatives by falsely, shamelessly attempting to associate various mass-shooters and terrorists with conservative philosophy and politics (while, in fact, they are almost invariably leftist, Obama-supporting democrats who carry out such attacks).

But this time we have someone who knew the shooter, a classmate, going on record to explicitly identify the madman’s political orientation as being the same as that largely held by those in the liberal media, those who usually vilify and smear the Right–and the newspaper reporting on it shamelessly censors the information, the day after it is initially printed.

The article in question, first published last Friday in The Denver Post, deals specifically with the political philosophy of school shooter Karl Pierson. Titled, “Arapahoe gunman held strong political beliefs, classmates said,” it features various statements from students who knew Pierson, concerning his worldview on economics and politics.

When The Post first ran the story, as written by the article’s authors Zahira Torres and Yesenia Robles, a key remark from one of Pierson’s classmates was reported.

This was the initial version:

Thomas Conrad, who had an economics class with the gunman, described him as a very opinionated Socialist.

A day later, whoever controls the levers at The Denver Post took out the word “socialist” from their edited, updated version of the piece:

Thomas Conrad, who had an economics class with the gunman, described him as very opinionated.

When challenged, on Twitter, about the edited version of the story, the senior news editor of The Denver Post, Lee Ann Colacioppo, Tweeted this pathetic reply:

“We decided not to have another student apply a label to the shooter–a label the student likely didn’t even understand ..”

There ensued a storm of dozens and dozens of Tweets and counter-Tweets between Colacioppo and several others.

Typical, isn’t it? How often we hear socialists and communists insist that their critics “don’t even know what socialism/communism is”?

Most reading this know all too well what the true nature of socialism is, and we also know the score where most of the dinosaur media is concerned.

The liberal democrat socialists who comprise 85% (self-identifying surveys confirm this) of the editorial and reporting staffs of most major media outlets have perfected their under-handed craft to a high art over the decades. We’re kind of used to it by now.

Fortunately, the internet and the alternative/new media has made it so much easier to bust them, and to spread the word when they get caught red-handed. So, help spread the word

The Allegheny County Sheriff claimed that there was nothing spectacular about the arrest; that the officers were following routine procedure. I wouldn’t doubt that the cops’ actions are commonplace, but to suggest that there’s nothing wrong with what they did is a different story.

There was a warrant for 35-year-old Amy Needham, a mother of three, for failing to appear at a preliminary hearing to answer to a charge brought against her. The charge had apparently been reduced to “disorderly conduct.” Maybe a cop had bumped into her.

So, police arrive at her house, and I assume they help themselves in, because she was in the bathroom. No matter. They break down the door to the bathroom, shoot her with a Taser, apply arm bars and wristlocks, handcuff her and haul her off to jail.

During the week in jail following her arrest, she complained a total of 16 times that she needed to see a doctor about her arms. According to her complaint against the police department, the handcuffs had been on too tight, and it caused compartment syndrome, characterized by “increased pressure in a muscle compartment that can damage both muscles and nerves.” The Daily Mail reported:

According to her attorney, Marvin Leibowitz, the tight handcuffs caused her to suffer compartment syndrome, a limb- and life-threatening condition that occurs after an injury. It happens when there is insufficient blood supply to muscles and nerves due to increased pressure within the compartment, such as the arm, leg or any enclosed space within the body.

Leibowitz continued:

“They never sent her a doctor. Never took her to the doctor. She developed a septic shock. The infection went over and she almost died and they had to take off her arm to prevent her from dying.”

Now, she’s suing them for $75,000, a seemingly meager sum, considering that their treatment of her literally cost her an arm.

Bound by Bad Precedent, Judge Rules Against Free Speech in Boston

My organization, the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) tried to place pro-Israel ads in Boston, countering anti-Israel ads that ran there. Our ad read, “In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat jihad.”

The ad was rejected, and we sued. Last week, U.S. District Court Judge Gorton ruled against us in our preliminary injunction against Boston’s Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA). No surprise here, during our hearing Judge Gorton said that he did not have the authority to rule on matters out of his jurisdiction. Still, Gorton dropped the ball on the question of “reasonableness.”

This is Boston, after all, site of the most recent jihad bombing in America, so Gorton’s ruling is sad and regrettable. We will, of course, appeal.

A couple of weeks ago I headed to Boston to cover a hearing concerning our pro-Israel ads that had been barred from running by the MBTA. Such abusive violations of our freedoms have become catalysts for historical resistance and actions in the defense of freedom. And these dangerous restrictions on speech must be fought.

It was the MBTA that invited the debate on this issue by accepting anti-Israel ads. And then they turned and said that our ad was objectionable. They accepted an ad on the same subject that was so genuinely demeaning and disparaging that it had to be taken down after numerous complaints, only to be restored later, and then they had the audacity to reject our ad. That is viewpoint restriction and unconstitutional (even under the Ridley decision).

The jihad against Israel is savage. Any war against innocent civilians is savage. That this is “controversial” or “demeaning” illustrates just how far down the rabbit hole we have gone.

My lawyers at the American Freedom Law Center (AFLC) filed a motion for a preliminary injunction and accompanying brief, requesting that the court order the MBTA to display the pro-Israel advertisement. David Yerushalmi and Robert Muise represented AFDI in our lawsuit against the MBTA.

We knew going in that overcoming the Ridley decision was an enormous hurdle. The Ridley case is the Dred Scott of free speech decisions. During our hearing Judge Gorton specifically stated that, being a district judge, he did not have the authority to rule on or alter the decision in that case.

Judge Gordon ruled against us. But in reading his extensively thought out, well written opinion, it appears that he did so reluctantly. He did not want to hold against us, even going so far as to say that he personally views jihad as violent war, but in his view, Ridley as his binding precedent tied his hands.

Here is the most interesting (and perhaps telling in that Judge Gorton agreed with us, but had to follow Ridley) part of the opinion:

Nevertheless, the Court agrees with the plaintiffs that the most reasonable interpretation of their advertisement is that they oppose acts of Islamic terrorism directed at Israel. Thus, if the question before this Court were whether the MBTA adopted the best interpretation of an ambiguous advertisement, it would side with the plaintiffs. But restrictions on speech in a non-public forum need only be reasonable and need not be the most reasonable. See Ridley, 390 F.3d at 90.

We are appealing. Contribute here. We must fight this all the way.

Expect the enemies of freedom to crow and howl. This is what they do: invoke the freedom of speech to kill freedom of speech. Free speech is for them, and them alone. It speaks to the heart of matter and the reason why we fight. Those who applaud free speech restrictions expose who and what they really are.

These enemies of freedom mean to destroy the founding principles of this nation. You won’t like what comes after the Constitution–not if the jackboots have their way.

VET’S BACKLASH AGAINST OBAMA

URGENT! A movement has been started by our armed forces, to get out the vote in 2014.. They are organizing themselves, but this can be done by all of us. The President, the Commander in Chief, has made the Rules of Engagement (ROE) so difficult, that our troops are often killed before they can even get permission to fight. Nothing has been done to stop our troops from being murdered by Afghanis they are training, either. Now, the President wants the US to sign on to the UNs International Criminal Court (ICC), which would allow the UNs ICC to arrest and try US troops for War Crimes, without the legal protections guaranteed under US Law, and from which there is no appeal. The President, with his Democratic control of the Senate, has nearly all the power. If the Non-Establishment can take back the Senate in 2014, our troops can once again be protected from unnecessary danger. Interestingly enough, when GWB was president you heard about the the military deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan almost daily. With Obama in the White House, the mainstream media has been strangely quiet. —

More than 1,000 American soldiers have lost their lives in Afghanistan in the last 27 months. This is more than the combined total of the nine years before. Thirty have died in August. During the last month, over 50 additional NATO and US servicemen have been murdered, inside jobs by those who are hired to be a force for good in Afghanistan.
The commander in chief is AWOL. Not a peep, although he ordered the White House flag flown at half-staff for the Sikhs that were killed. There is a deep disgust, a fury, growing in the ranks of the military against the indifferent incompetence of this president.
It has taken on a dangerous tone. No one knows what to do about him, but the anger runs deep as the deaths continue with no strategic end in sight to the idiocy of this war. Obama has had 4 years to end this futile insanity, during which time he has vacationed, golfed, campaigned, and generally ignored the plight of our men and women in uniform. But, there is now a movement afoot in the armed services to launch a massive get out the vote drive against this president.

Not just current active duty types, but the National Guard, Reserves, the retired, and all other prior service members. This is no small special interest group, but many millions of veterans who can have an enormous impact on the outcome of the November election if they all respond.

The million military retirees in Florida alone could mean an overwhelming victory in that state if they all show up at the polls.

It might not keep another one hundred U.S. troops from dying between now and November, but a turn out to vote by the military against this heart breaking lack of leadership can make a powerful statement that hastens a change to the indifference of this shallow little man who just lets our soldiers die.

NEW YORK – Can ordinary citizens protesting on the Internet block the Obama administration’s plan to ram through Congress one of the most ambitious globalist, “free-trade agreements” ever negotiated?

Very quietly, opposition is building on the Internet to oppose legislation that may be introduced as soon as Jan. 8. The measure would grant President Obama what is known as “fast track authority” to ram through Congress the Trans-Pacific Partnership with limited debate and no opportunity to propose amendments. The international trade agreement, negotiated largely in secret by the Obama administration, is regarded by globalist free traders as a cornerstone of the emerging “New World Order.”

A Facebook page has been created to call for a “Anti-TPP Twitter Storm” on New Year’s Day beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.

“Anti-TPP Twitter Storm Wednesday 1/1/14 @ 4 p.m. PST/7 p.m. EST, the whole world will tweet and post an ANTI-TPP hashtag (to be announced) with posts about why people should stop the Trans Pacific Partnership,” the Facebook page reads.

“The goal of this ‘hashtag storm’ is to get this hashtag trending on both Twitter and Facebook, so we can inform the public about the dangers of the Trans Pacific Partnership and agitate people to ACT to stop the TPP. Join us and help expose the corporate coup known as the Trans Pacific Partnership.”

Obama’s ‘two –ocean’ free-trade agenda

As WND previously reported, Obama, in his State of the Union address Feb. 12, announced a two-ocean globalist free-trade agenda:

“To boost American exports, support American jobs, and level the playing field in the growing markets of Asia, we intend to complete negotiations on a Trans-Pacific Partnership,” he said. “And tonight, I am announcing that we will launch talks on a comprehensive Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership with the European Union – because trade that is free and fair across the Atlantic supports millions of good-paying American jobs.”

For the first time, a decision by the U.S. Trade Representative within the Executive Office of the President was made public to expand the ongoing negotiations for a free-trade zone with Pacific Rim countries to include a a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership with European Union countries.

Now there is no doubt the Obama administration has decided in the second term to double-up on a globalist agenda to develop massive new free-trade agreements across both the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans, adding a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, or TAP, to what is being developed as the Trans-Pacific Partnership, or TPP.

Fast-track authority

WND has reported Obama administration plans in development for the past two years are ready be implemented as Democrats in Congress plan to pass the massive Trans-Pacific Partnership free-trade agreement with a simple majority vote that would skirt the two-thirds vote in the Senate that the U.S. Constitution requires to ratify a treaty.

The strategy centers on what is known as “fast track authority,” a provision under the Trade Promotion Authority that requires Congress to review a free-trade agreement, or FTA, under limited debate, in an accelerated time frame that is subject to a yes-or-no vote by Congress without any provision for Congress to modify the agreement by submitting amendments. Fast-track authority is also intended to reassure foreign partners that the FTA negotiated by the executive branch will not be altered by Congress during the legislative process.

A report released Jan. 24 by the Congressional Research Service, “The Trans-Pacific Partnership Negotiations and Issues for Congress,” makes clear the Obama administration does not have fast-track authority to negotiate the TPP, even though the office of the U.S. Trade Representative is acting as if it were in place:

The present negotiations are not being conducted under the auspices of formal trade promotion authority (TPA) – the latest TPA expired on July 1, 2007 – although the Administration informally is following the procedures of the former TPA. If TPP implementing legislation is brought to Congress, TPA may need to be considered if the legislation is not to be subject to potentially debilitating amendments or rejection. Finally, Congress may seek to weigh in on the addition of new members to the negotiations, before or after the negotiations conclude.

The CRS report states that the TPP is being negotiated as a regional free-trade agreement that U.S. negotiators describe as a “comprehensive and high-standard” FTA that they hope “will liberalize trade in nearly all goods and services and include commitments beyond those currently established in the World Trade Organization (WTO.)”

That the Obama administration is treating the TPP like a TPA and not a formal treaty obligation strongly suggests the Obama majority will seek passage of the TPP by a simple majority vote in Congress.

Still, the impact of the TPP will be equivalent to a formal treaty obligation in that agreements made within the TPP will be designed to supersede U.S. law with the regional authorities as specified within the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement.

So, the last hurdle the Obama administration faces in making the TPP law is to get Congress to vote fast-track authority as the terms under which the TPP will be introduced to Congress.

As a consequence, one of the few remaining strategies left to opponents of the TPP is to urge Congress to vote against giving the Obama administration fast-track authority when the issue comes up for debate, possibly as early as next week.

Advancing the NWO agenda

The globalists advising the Obama administration appear to have learned from the adverse public reaction to the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America, or SPP, during the administration of President George W. Bush. Obama has avoided the leader summit meetings that exposed to a critical alternative news media the international “working group” coordination needed to create international free-trade agreements.

Globalists have learned from the adverse reaction that such internationalist adventures as the Trans-Texas Highway, known as the NAFTA Super-Highway, will only succeed if such initiatives are pursued covertly with a determination to ridicule anyone who dares contemplate its larger purpose of increasing global sovereignty.

The Obama administration has shut down the Security and Prosperity Partnership website, SPP.gov. The last joint statement issued by the newly formed North American Leaders Summit, operating as the rebranded SPP, was issued April 2, 2012, at the conclusion of the last tri-lateral head-of-state meeting held between the U.S., Mexico and Canada in Washington, D.C.

Now, with the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the Obama administration appears to have leap-frogged SPP ambitions to create a North American Union by including Mexico and Canada in the TPP configuration.

The 10 nations involved in the TPP include Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam.

A graph presented in the CRS report on the first page shows the reach of the agreement across the Pacific, including Peru and Chile in South America; Australia and New Zealand; Malaysia and Vietnam in Southeast Asia; Singapore; and Japan.

As seen in the North American detail below, trade from Canada extends down into roughly Oklahoma in the United States, and trade from Mexico extends north roughly to Colorado.

At the same time, trade from Mexico is seen both as extending up into the United States, reaching across the Pacific Ocean to the Asian and Pacific Rim nations involved in the FTA.

International tribunal dispute resolution

A leaked copy of the TPP draft makes clear in Chapter 15, “Dispute Settlement,” that the Obama administration intends to surrender U.S. sovereignty to adjudicate disputes arising under the TPP to the processes of an international tribunal.

Disputes involving interpretation and application of the TPP agreement, according to Article 15.7, will be adjudicated by an “arbitral tribunal” composed of three TPP members whose purpose under Article 15.8 will be “to make an objective assessment of the dispute before it, including an examination of the facts of the case and the applicability of and conformity with this Agreement, and make such other findings and rulings necessary for the resolution of the dispute referred to it as it thinks fits.”

The TPP draft agreement does not specify that these arbitral tribunals must render decisions in compliance with U.S. law or that the decisions of the arbitral tribunals are invalid should they violate or otherwise contravene U.S. law.

Investment disputes under the TPP appear to be relegated for resolution to the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes, an international authority created by 158 nations that are signatories to the ICSID Convention created under the auspices of the World Bank.

The TPP draft agreement specifies that foreign firms from Trans-Pacific signatory countries that seek to do business in the U.S. can apply to the arbitral tribunals to obtain relief under the trade pact from complying with onerous U.S. laws and regulations, including environmental regulations and financial disclosure rules.

Because the TPP agreement places arbitral tribunals created under TPP above U.S. law, the Obama administration appears to be intent on creating a judicial authority higher than the U.S. Supreme Court. The tribunal could overrule decisions U.S. federal courts make to apply U.S. laws and regulations to foreign corporations doing business within the U.S.

NEW YORK – Atrocities by Syrian jihadist rebels have reached sensational new levels, according to a revered nun working with persecuted Christians and an explosive new video report.

Sister Hatune Dogan told WND in a Skype interview that members of the Syrian opposition are draining the blood of Christians they behead and selling vials to Islamic radicals for $100,000 a piece.

The Syrian Orthodox nun explained that the blood is used in a ritual washing of hands in the belief the act atones for sins and provides privileged access to heaven.

The Christians, she said, are beheaded in ceremonies in which they are forced to kneel, with their hands and feet bound, as the Muslim radicals read a death sentence imposed because the victim refuses to renounce Christianity and embrace Islam.

She detailed how the head of the victim is brutally severed with knives. The blood spurting from their necks is captured in basins and then bottled.

“The Muslims sever the necks and collect the blood in vessels to sell the blood. The Muslims believe that if they kill a Christian and wash their hands in the blood of the Christian, they will go to heaven,” she explained.

She said the sale of the Christian blood “is a big business.”

“With this money, the Muslim terrorists can buy more weapons,” she explained.

Walid Shoebat, a native Arabic-speaking Christian who was a member of the PLO, has called Hatune a Mother Teresa figure in an article that featured her presenting the results of an independent investigation of Christians in Syria under the rule of Muslim fundamentalists.

A video posted on YouTube shows Hatune presenting the results of the investigation in which she discusses how women held captive by Muslims for ransom have been raped and mutilated. She also presents evidence for her claim Muslims are beheading Christians and selling their blood.

“Hatune’s willingness to help the persecuted is so immense that it surpasses what anyone is doing today in the Middle East,” Shoebat has written on his blog.

“Her righteous deeds, of course, receive the vociferous wrath of the jihadists,” Shoebat said.

The nun says she gets “18 death threats in seven languages.”

“But Sister Hatune is no pacifist,” Shoebat writes. “As she ardently believes in denying one’s self, helping the oppressed and turning the other cheek, like a true warrior, she as well zealously believes in taking up a whip and driving out the wicked.”

Independently, Shoebat has published a video of Sunni Muslims playing soccer with the heads of the people they murdered.

WND Middle East correspondent Michael Maloof, a former senior security policy analyst in the office of the secretary of defense, said the “vociferous wrath” from jihadists that Hatune is receiving because of her vigorous effort to protect Christians has made her a prime target of al-Qaida and its affiliate, the Jabhat al-Nusra.

“Al-Nusra, which wants to establish caliphates in Syria and throughout the Middle East, has amply demonstrated that it will kill any ‘infidel,’ even Muslims, who do not subscribe to a strict form of Shariah,” Maloof said. “This places all Christians and other minorities in peril which, in turn, puts Sister Hatune and her companions in al-Nusra’s crosshairs.”

Hatune explained to WND that she was born into a Christian family in Zaz, a village in Turabdeen, Northern Mesopotamia in Turkey, at a time when Christians were being persecuted by both by Turkish and Kurdish Muslims.

According to a biography, her family migrated from Turkey to Germany in 1985 to escape persecution.

She completed her education in Germany. In 1988, she joined the Morephrem Monastery in Losser, Holland, where she entered the sisterhood under the leadership of the Mother Superior Seyde Atto.

In Germany, she completed her degree in practical theology at the Theological Seminar in Mienz, Germany, in 1996. Later, she worked as a psychotherapist in Kathekese Psychotherapy Institute in Augustburg, Germany.

She has visited 38 countries and worked in the Ministry of Charitable and Social Service in Turkey, Africa, India and the Middle East.

She is a member of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church under the Holy See of Antioch.

Hatune is the founder of the Sister Hatune Foundation, registered in the United States in New York. The foundation has a Facebook page. Her various country-specific Internet websites are frequently hacked and often inoperable.

Shoebat has begun accepting contributions through a foundation he created for Hatune, RescueChristians.org.

Another American Woman Attacked by Four Black Women Because She Was Walking While Being White

NOT A HATE CRIME: Ithaca woman gets face sliced open by four black women

Imagine if a black female pedestrian was attacked at random by a mob of white females and had her face sliced open. It would be the biggest news story in America.

Except in this case, the victim is white, the perpetrators are black, and it was completely censored.

A friend of the victim posted pictures on bodybuilding.com. There is another photo that shows the skin on the woman’s face hanging wide open.

The attack took place last Saturday after the unnamed victim left a bar in Ithaca, New York. The website has reported on several brutal black on white hate crimes in Ithaca in the past. This is not an isolated event.

Police arrested four black women.

More evidence that President Obama believes himself to be a King who can just;

order people to do whatever he wants,
