Planned Parenthood Praises ABC for Having Character Abort Her Baby as “Silent Night” Plays
Planned Parenthood sang the praises of the ABC show “Scandal” on Friday after the TV show glorified a main character’s abortion to the tune of “Silent Night” and the defeat of a bill to de-fund the abortion giant. “We just hope those in Congress — and throughout the nation — who are steadfast on rolling the clock back on reproductive health care access are taking note” of the show, Planned Parenthood said in a statement.

Planned Parenthood Abortionist Prays Next to Pro-Life Sign and Thanks God She Can Kill Babies
The Pro-Life Action League caught a disturbing moment on video (watch below) last Monday in Chicago outside a Planned Parenthood conference when an abortionist knelt down beside the photo of an aborted baby to thank God for her work. After the event, the pro-life group witnessed the unnamed, female abortionist’s prayer.

“Scandal” Actors and Producer Defend Playing “Silent Night” as Character Aborts Her Baby
ABC’s “Scandal” has everyone talking about the brash, pro-abortion messaging of its latest show. The Nov. 19 episode took on Congressional efforts to de-fund Planned Parenthood and glorified main character Olivia Pope’s abortion to the tune of “Silent Night.” The episode was a sickening hour-long “advertisement for Planned Parenthood,” Alexa Moutevelis wrote for Newsbusters.

The Poll Numbers on the Planned Parenthood Scandal CNN Left Out

waving flagOpinion by Genevieve Wood / / August 05, 2015

URL of the original posting site: http://dailysignal.com/2015/08/05/the-poll-numbers-on-the-planned-parenthood-scandal-cnn-left-out

Regardless of one’s point of view on an issue, you can usually find a poll that shows that a majority of people agree with you. I’d suggest that is exactly what we saw happen on CNN Wednesday, when anchor Alisyn Camerota interviewed Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., about the debate surrounding Planned Parenthood.

  • A May 2015 Gallup poll asked, “Should abortion be legal?” Here’s how the numbers broke down:
  • Twenty-nine percent said abortion should be legal under any circumstances.
  • Fifty-one percent said abortion should be legal only under certain circumstances.
  • Nineteen percent said abortion should be illegal in all circumstances.

Here’s what Camerota said:

“That’s 80 percent of respondents who believe abortion should be kept legal.” (She added together the 29 percent who said abortion should be legal in any circumstance and 51 percent who said it should be allowed only in certain circumstances.)

Here’s what Camerota could have said:

“That’s 70 percent of Americans who believe there should be limits on abortion.” (Adding together the 51 percent who said it should be legal only in certain circumstances and the 19 percent who said it should not be legal under any circumstances.)More Evidence

Those who identify as pro-choice are more inclined to report the poll the way CNN did, and those who identify as pro-life are likely to use the latter number—the point being, in this particular poll and many others, you can “interpret the data” to get the spin you want.

I also found interesting that while CNN chose to show questions from a Monmouth University Poll showing that a majority of respondents favored the use of fetal tissue for research and that 49 percent opposed cutting off federal funds to Planned Parenthood, they conveniently left out the response to this question: “Have you seen or heard recent news about videos that supposedly show Planned Parenthood employees discussing the sale of aborted fetus tissue, or not?”how many body parts

Here were the responses:

  • Only 27 percent said they had heard a lot.
  • Only 21 percent said they had heard a little.
  • But 53 percent of respondents said they had not heard about the story at all.

I wonder how different the other answers in the poll about fetal tissue research and defunding Planned Parenthood would have been if the 74 percent of people who had heard or seen little to nothing had indeed seen the videos.

Of course, as the Media Research Center points out, the death of Cecil the lion has received more than four times the coverage in one week by the network news media than the five undercover videos released over the past three weeks showing Planned Parenthood committing potentially criminal acts.

CNN didn’t mention those numbers, either.Party of Deciet and lies

8 Unbelievably Heartbreaking Quotes From Women Who Aborted Their Babies

by Nancy Flanders | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com

URL of the Original Posting Site: http://www.lifenews.com/2014/12/03/8-unbelievably-heartbreaking-quotes-from-women-who-aborted-their-own-babies/

Let God

(LiveActionNews) — We as a society are constantly bombarded with the pro-choice rhetoric that abortion is sometimes necessary. We also hear the words of post-abortive women like Cecile Richards who will say that their abortions were the right thing to do. But whether they are stuffing down their emotions or just plain lying, abortion is never a happy ending.

It kills a child and leaves a mother to live the rest of her life with the knowledge that she took her child’s life. Nothing brings that pain to light better than the words directly from the mouths of everyday post-abortive mothers who are ignored by the major media outlets. Unlike Richards, these women have nothing to gain from sharing their stories. They only hope to help other mothers choose life.

Lori Nerad, Former National President of Women Exploited by Abortion:

“Two weeks after the abortion, I went into labor. I staggered into the bathroom. And there, with my husband beside me, I delivered a part of my baby the doctor had missed. It was the head of my baby. . . I’ll wake up in the middle of the night, thinking I hear a baby crying. And I still have nightmares in which I am forced to watch my baby being ripped apart in front of me. I simply miss my baby. I constantly wake up wanting to nurse my child, wanting to hold my child. And that’s something the doctor never told me I would experience.”Third of our generation

Abby Johnson, Founder of And Then There Were None:

One day in the car, my daughter (out of nowhere) asked if someday she would be able to see her siblings in Heaven. I asked her what she meant…honestly, hoping that she was not talking about my own two abortions. She said that she knew I had two abortions and she wanted to know if she would ever get to meet those babies because she said, “in my heart, I miss them.” I never knew I would pass that sort of heartbreak on to my children.

When I had my abortions, I never thought about how it would affect others. I didn’t think about my future children. I never thought about how I would have to explain my selfishness to them.

My abortions live in me, and unfortunately, they live in them. ”Ki;lling a baby with poison

Ashley Granger, Wife, mother, sonography student:

“Now that my son is 4 years old, I sometimes look at his sweet face and wonder what features my other child would have had. I still have dreams about holding him or her and it makes me so deeply sad to think that I have robbed my son of a sibling. Why not just try and conceive a sibling for him today you may ask? Well, I would love to but my husband and I have been struggling with infertility for two and half years. I never once dreamed that I wouldn’t be able to conceive when I wanted to! Every night my sweet boy prays to God for a sibling and every time I hear those precious prayers my heart aches over what I did. Because in retrospect an abortion isn’t an easy fix or a solution to a problem….it is the problem, and it leaves a lasting effect on generations to come.” Eagle Eggs

Katrina Fernadez, Catholic humor writer at Patheos:

“I killed two of my children, robbed my parents of grand-children, and murdered my son’s siblings. These abortions directly caused a medical condition known as incompetent cervix which resulted in the premature birth of another son who died after a week long struggle in the NICU in 2001. The suffering I’ve endured and caused others is immeasurable and the guilt almost drove me suicidal. I am a coward in every way.”National death rate percentages

Addie Morfoot, mother, writer:

“Ross likes to tell me that Annie is our son’s guardian angel, but that idea scares me. Do I want my son’s protector to be someone whose mother gave her up? Ended her existence prematurely?  She must be so mad, disappointed and hurt. So I keep her ultrasound images, along with a Hallmark “It’s a Girl!” card that my best friend sent, along with a Christmas tree ornament engraved with Annie’s due date, which my parents gave me the week I found out I was pregnant, locked away in a closet far from my son’s bedroom. […] But Annie still haunts me. When her due date rolls around, or when our son has a bad cough, or with the birth of my sister’s baby girl — I think of Annie. And once every year — on her birthday — I let myself cry. I think about how it would feel to hold her in my arms. And then I ask her to please understand that I did what I thought was best for my child.”Mary-Planned-Parenthood

Beatrice Fedor, Member of the Silent No More Campaign:

“I flushed my baby in the toilet and it was horrifying. And it didn’t help me to graduate. It’s been nineteen years and to this day, I don’t have a degree. […] Seven years later, I got pregnant again. The father was twice my age and he was abusive. Abortion was the quick fix solution to protect myself and my baby from the abuser. So I went to a clinic and in great anxiety, I was put to sleep. When I woke up with blood on my legs, I burst into tears and I was inconsolable. I sank deeper and deeper into depression and suicidal thoughts.

Then, I met my husband and he brought Jesus into my life but I was still hurting. When I was pregnant with our first child, my abortions resurfaced and the guilt was overwhelming. I went to counseling and I started to heal. Later, I attended a Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat and finally, I was able to forgive myself and find peace.

Abortion promised to free me from two crisis situations and instead, it has nearly destroyed me. But there is hope for all those who are hurting and it is for them that I am Silent No More.”prolifewomen20

Jewels Green, former abortion clinic worker and public speaker:

“[…]January 6, 1989, at 9 1/2 weeks gestation, I had an abortion. It nearly killed me. No, not the surgical procedure, the psychological aftermath. I attempted suicide three times after my abortion and finally ended up in an adolescent psychiatric ward of a community hospital for a month to recover. […] Working in the autoclave room was never, ever easy. I saw my lost child in every jar of aborted baby parts. One night after working autoclave my nightmares about dead babies were so gruesome and terrifying and intense I met with the clinic’s director to talk about my feelings. She was very understanding, open and honest, and painfully forthright when she told me, “What we do here is end a life. Pure and simple.”12-weeks_feto-3d-620x293

Brice Griffin, Founder, Charlotte Center for Women

“After napping [after the abortion] I was raring to get back out to the bar scene. There was not enough whiskey in DC to satisfy me that night, or any night for many months following. When I woke up the morning after my abortion, Brian asked how I slept. I said, ‘Like a baby.’ He said, ‘You mean like a baby KILLER?!’ […] For months after that, I knew nothing except that I wanted to die. Death was the only certain escape from the horrific pit that had formed in my soul. I begged for therapy. I screamed for help. But only inside. How could I admit what I had done?

So I buried it. No one else needed to know. No one else needed to judge me as harshly as I had come to judge myself.

I trudged through several more years, feeling happy at times and doomed at others. One day I was running and listening to a homily by Fr. Larry Richards about Confession. He said (loosely), “If you’ve had an abortion, confess it. Your child is praying for you in Heaven.” My chest heaved with uncontrollable sobs and I ran home to arrange an appointment for Confession with my dear Priest. There in the confessional, heaving with sobs once more, I truly expected to be struck by lightning. I now sat there acknowledging that I was guilty of the worst sin possible, murder. My dear Priest smiled and handed me a box of tissues and said, ‘God is so happy you are here. You will be forgiven, but you need healing.’ He then proceeded to tell me about Rachel’s Vineyard, a ministry aimed towards healing from abortion.”hobbylobby25

These are just eight of the women who are speaking out about the aftermath of their abortions. Lifetimes of pain and regret. Lifetimes spent yearning for a child they will never get to hold. Due dates come and go and always bring about another year of remorse. Abortion isn’t something someone does one day. It lasts a lifetime.

Planet Fitness Kicks Out Man From Gym Twice for Wearing “Offensive” Pro-Life T-Shirt

by Steven Ertelt | Orlando, FL | LifeNews.com | 11/18/14

URL of Original Posting Site: http://www.lifenews.com/2014/11/18/planet-fitness-kicks-out-man-from-gym-twice-for-wearing-offensive-pro-life-t-shirt/

cause of deathA pro-life man in Florida says he was kicked out of a Planet Fitness gym not once but twice simply for wearing a pro-life t-shirt. Mike Amoroso says he has a collection of pro-life t-shirts but officials with Planet Fitness told him they were “offensive.”

When someone complained about the shirt, he was told to change his shirt or leave the Planet fitness gym. He came back the next day with a new pro-life shirt and was told again to leave.

Here’s more:

planetfitness“She told me, ‘I am very sorry. We have someone who is not happy with your shirt. Someone is offended by your shirt,’” Amoroso said. “I said, ‘You know, I wear them all the time.’ She said, ‘You’ll have to leave,’ and I left.”

Amoroso believed the issue wasn’t what his shirt said but how the message was delivered. So the following day, he wore a “softer” anti-abortion shirt, which was also deemed too offensive.

“Do you understand why people are offended?” asked reporter Shannon Butler.

“Yes. Yes, I do,” Amoroso said.

But for Amoroso, it’s about freedom of speech. He said he has nothing against women who chose abortion, Third of our generationbut one day would like to see an end to abortions. He added that he’s upset the shirts offended someone but said at least it’s starting a conversation about the topic.

“This doesn’t deter you even though people are offended from wearing these?” Butler asked.

“No, I might wear them more,” Amoroso said.

Planet Fitness is disclaiming any responsibility — saying its gyms are independently owned and operated.

“At Planet Fitness, we are committed to providing a comfortable and welcoming environment for everyone. The majority of Planet Fitness clubs, including this location in Orange City, FL, are owned and operated by individual franchisees. The dress code policy is enforced at the discretion of club staff and the local franchisee,” the company said in a statement.

Bryan Kemper, a pro-life activist with Stand True who is known for his extensive collection of pro-life t-shirts, Eagle Eggstalked with Amoroso.

“I just got off the phone with Michael Amarosa, a 68 year-old man from Deltona, Florida who was recently kicked out of the local Planet Fitness for wearing a pro-life t-shirt to work out in,” he said. “Michael has been going to Planet Fitness for three years and about two weeks ago was approached by one of the staff as he was working out. The staff member informed him that his shirt was offensive to someone and asked if he would be willing to change into a shirt she had in her hand. Michael said no and asked what would happen if he did not change his shirt. He was asked to leave.”

“Now before I go on, lets look at the slogan for Planet Fitness: “Welcome to Planet Fitness. Home of the Judgement Free Zone®”. That’s right, Planet Fitness wants people to think they are a “judgement free zone” while casting judgement on Michael for a pro-life t-shirt,” Kemper continued. “Michael’s shirt read, “abortion kills a person” and he thought that if he wore a less abrasive shirt that maybe they would not cast judgement on him. He was wrong. Michael came back the next day wearing a shirt that read, “pray to end abortion” and he was approached again and asked to leave.”

“Michael told me how he was inspired by Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life who encourages people to be open with their pro-life beliefs. He wants to educate the public about abortion and thats why he wears his pro-life t-shirts. Michael is not yelling at people or trying to start debates in the gym, he simply works out and practices free speech with a t-shirt,” Kemper added. “I encouraged Michael and thanked him for his courage and told him that Stand True will be sending him a bunch of free pro-life t-shirts from our store at http://www.prolifeworld.com.”

“I am in the process of contacting pro-life lawyers for Michael to help him fight Planet Fitness and get his rights back. In the mean time I need you help us fight for Michael,” he concluded.

Supreme Court voids 35-foot abortion clinic protest buffer

The Supreme Court on Thursday struck down a 35-foot protest-free zone outside abortion clinics in Massachusetts.

The justices were unanimous in ruling that extending a buffer zone 35 feet from clinic entrances violates the First Amendment rights of protesters.

Chief Justice John Roberts said authorities have less intrusive ways to deal with problems outside the clinics and noted that most of the problems reported by police and the clinics occurred outside the Planned Parenthood facility in Boston, and only on Saturdays when the largest crowds typically gather.

“For a problem shown to arise only once a week in one city at one clinic, creating 35-foot buffer zones at every clinic across the Commonwealth is hardly a narrowly tailored solution,” Roberts said.

National death rate percentagesWhile the court was unanimous in the outcome, Roberts joined with the four liberal justices to strike down the buffer zone on narrow grounds. In a separate opinion, Justice Antonin Scalia criticized Roberts’ opinion for carrying forward “this court’s practice of giving abortion-rights advocates a pass when it comes to suppressing the free-speech rights of their opponents.”

The case began when Boston-area grandmother Eleanor McCullen and other abortion opponents sued over the limits on their activities at Planned Parenthood health centers in Boston, Springfield and Worcester. At the latter two sites, the protesters say they have little chance of reaching patients arriving by car because they must stay 35 feet from the entrance to those buildings’ parking lots.

Planned Parenthood provides health exams for women, cancer screenings, tests for sexually transmitted diseases, birth control and abortions at its clinics.

The organization said that the buffer zone has significantly reduced the harassment of patients and clinic employees. Before the 35-foot zone went into effect in 2007, protesters could stand next to the entrances and force patients to squeeze by, Planned Parenthood said.

Before 2007, a floating buffer zone kept protesters from approaching unwilling listeners any closer than 6 feet if they were within 18 feet of the clinic. The floating zone was modeled after a Colorado law that the Supreme Court upheld. That decision was not called into question in Thursday’s ruling.

Clinic officials said they are most concerned about safety because of past incidents of violence. In 1994, a gunman killed two receptionists and wounded five employees and volunteers at a Planned Parenthood facility and another abortion clinic in nearby Brookline. The most recent killing was in 2009, when Dr. George Tiller, who performed abortions, was shot in a church in Wichita, Kansas.

Abortion protesters said that other state and federal laws already protect health center workers and patients, as well as access to clinics.

Mark Rienzi, who represented the protesters at the Supreme Court, said, “The government cannot reserve its public sidewalks for Planned Parenthood, as if their message is the only one women should be allowed to hear. Today’s decision confirms that the First Amendment is for everyone, and that the government cannot silence peaceful speakers. That result is good news for Eleanor McCullen, and it is great news for the women she helps.”

Abortion Clinic Nurse Who Claims She “Serves God” Assaults Pro-Lifer

Abortion Clinic Nurse Who Claims She “Serves God” Assaults Pro-Lifer

by Carole Novielli | Tuscaloosa, AL | LifeNews.com | 5/30/14 10:03 AM

A video posted on Youtube shows an abortion clinic nurse appearing to attack attack a pro-lifer.

The abortion nurse is upset because the pro-lifer accused her of telling patients that their abortion won’t hurt….

tuscaloosaThe pro-lifer who posted the vid identified as Paul Lake explains, “I learned that the # 1 question women ask in abortion clinics when considering abortion is; Does it hurt? Some clinics have certain people who do certain jobs and answer certain questions women ask. When the nurse at our local abortion clinic arrived to work Tuesday morning I asked her, “Are you the nurse that tells the women that it don’t hurt?” She didn’t answer. So I said to her that “whoever is telling them that it doesn’t hurt is lying to them”. She went into the clinic. 10 minutes later the same nurse walked up to me and this is what happened..”

“I don’t need you out here telling me nothing bout I’m a nurse and I’m telling these people it don’t hurt. I don’t tell them that, so I’m not a liar…and I’m not a liar and your not going to stand there and tell me that I’m a liar…because I’m not a liar. I serve a God that sees everything and know everything and if you was any kind of big Christian you wouldn’t be sit’n your tail out here doing what your doing.”

At that point the pro-lifer says, ” I want to help you.”Worker 2

And the abortion nurse replies, “You aren’t helping me and you’re right there your wearing that cross – you don’t need to be wearing it…”

The pro-lifers says, ” I’ll get you another job…”

As the conversation continues a second abortion worker joins in threatening the pro-lifer, “You need to watch what you’re doing because we know every single thing that you do. If you wipe your f***ing a** we know. So, you need to quit stalking me – you need to quit stalking Dr. Payne…we know everything about you just like you’re trying to find out about me that you’ll never know.“

She then asks the pro-lifer, “Can you tell me where I go to church, that’s what I want to know?”

They then get into a debate on whether abortion kills a baby and both nurses who claimed to go to church say abortion is a women’s choice.

A state inspection conducted in January of 2013 at the WEST ALABAMA WOMEN’S CENTER, INC revealed that:

Based on review of the center’s policies, observations and interview, it was determined the center did not follow their own standards of practice for:

1. Hand Washing

2. Glove usage

3. Cleaning of supplies

4. Safe use of sharps containers

During the tour on 1/10/13 at 10:30 AM in Exam Room # 2 the surveyor noted a sharps container more than 2/3 full with needles on the floor beside the sharps container. The soap dispenser by the sink in Exam Room 2 did not work so the surveyor was unable wash her hands with soap and water.

An interview was conducted with Employee Identifier # 1, Director on 1/10/13 at 10:45 AM who verified the sharps container was more than 2/3 full and the needles were on the floor.

A tour was conducted in Medication Storage Closet on 1/10/13 at 11:00 AM. The surveyor observed the following unlabeled:

1 – 10 cc (cubic centimeter) syringe with liquid and a needle

2- 3 cc syringes with liquid and a needle

3- 1 unit syringes with liquid and a needle

An interview with EI # 1 and EI # 2, Medical Director was conducted on 1/10/13 at 11:05 AM and both stated it was used for Lidocaine. On 1/10/13 at 2:40 PM the surveyor observed EI # 2 perform a procedure in Exam Room # 2. EI #2 was observed giving an injection intravenously in the right antecubital without the use of gloves.

EI # 2 was also observed by the surveyor during the above procedure use non sterile gloves to examine Patient Identifier (PI) # 1 and then change to sterile gloves without hand hygiene.

EI # 3, the nurse assisting with the procedure also changed gloves during the above procedure without hand hygiene.

PI # 1 was transferred to the Recovery Room on 1/10/13 at 2:51 PM. PI # 1 was seated in a recliner and feet propped up. EI # 4, Registered Nurse, then administered Rhogam to PI # 1 right shoulder without the use of gloves.

PI # 1 was discharged on 1/10/13 at 3:21 PM. EI # 4 did not clean the back and feet area of the recliner.

A tour was conducted on 1/11/13 at 9:10 AM, to exam Room # 2. The surveyor was unable to obtain soap from the soap dispenser. EI # 1 tried to obtain soap and was unable.

But this was not the only time…. the Alabama Department of Health which regulates abortion clinics in the state, shows that the West Alabama Women’s Center abortion clinic has been written up on several occasions:

Deficiencies

So to recap – abortion does hurt and if you point that out as a pro-lifer you could be attacked by a nurse who claims she serves God and slices while working at an abortion clinic with several health deficiencies…..just who is on the side of woman again?

19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.” John 3:19-21; NIV

“The foundation for why people think, and act the way they do is answered by Jesus in John 3:19-21. People who chose to give their lives to Jesus have come into the light. All others have chosen to stay in darkness. In darkness they feel secure and untouchable. They feel they are hidden and their ideologies, theologies and sociologies are covered by the darkness. When light shows up, everything they are, everything they believe, everything they stand for, everything they defend, all their “ologies” and all their stances are exposed for what they really are. Thses women used God’s Name in Vain by claiming to be followers of our Lord and Risen Savior, Jesus the Christ. Their stance, based on what they really believe and who they are really associated with is exposed. That is why they were so angry.’

“As Christians we are taught not to judge (meaning to condemn someone to eternal death). We are called to be fruit inspectors (Matt 12:33-37; NIV). Love is the key and according to Jesus, as recorded in John 13, we prove we are His followers by how we love one another. So, keep in mind why they act the way they do, refuse to be offended, refuse to contend with them and love them. Take their verbal abuse. Pray for them to come to the light, and don’t stain yourself by being drawn into their desire for confrontation.” JB

She Was Totally “Pro-Choice” on Abortion, Then This Happened

She Was Totally “Pro-Choice” on Abortion, Then This Happened

by Josh Brahm | Fresno, CA | LifeNews.com | 5/28/14 9:11 AM

Roni Cairns is a good friend of mine whom I’ve known for at least four years. She’s the reason I began exploring the use of relational apologetics to persuade pro-choice people to the pro-life position. After four years of friendship and debate, Roni is now pro-life.

Roni and I met each other in an abortion debate group on Facebook. I spent about a year participating in that group, ultimately becoming one of the admins, even though most of the participants were pro-choice. I learned a lot that year about how to (and how not to) debate online. (I’m sure I will be publishing some of what I learned in the future.)

lifenotabortionRoni was extremely pro-choice, but we genuinely liked each other from the beginning. Of all the people in that group, Roni was one of the three pro-choice people whom I was closest to, and believed most likely to one day become pro-life. Roni is an amazing reader, a good thinker and her ultimate fantasy is being a Supreme Court justice.

Roni just finished writing a series of blog posts about her conversion. There are links to all of them at the bottom of this article, but my favorite is part four, which Roni gave me permission to post in its entirety here. It’s about the night my friend Clinton Wilcox and I took Roni to dinner.

Becoming Pro-Life: Iceberg, Straight Ahead!

As I sit here and am about to share perhaps the most significant part of my shift to Pro-Life, a very special book sits next to me. It’s in nearly the same condition as I got it. The pages are still white and crisp. But the upper right corner of this softcover book is a little bent. This is because I have a terrible habit of flicking pages between my fingers as I read. Opening the book to the title page, I find myself smiling and tearing up at the five hand-written messages crammed onto the page. I can tell you the exact date I got this book and these notes were made: September 12, 2012.

Let’s back up a wee bit, though. By this point, I’d been talking to some of the greatest Pro-Life people in the history of ever, even if I didn’t realize it. I don’t even think I could list all of the great Pro-Lifers I’d talked to by this point… Josh Brahm, Clinton Wilcox, CB, JBH, FA, AL, GT, AR, LR, LHB, KDT, CDD, CD, AF, Destiny ReNae Gonzalez, IT, RMN, SMU/P, Aryn Bedrick… So many names. Now let me say here that some of these were not my friends by the aforementioned date–some I had merely spoken to. Some I severely disliked (at this time, though I considered myself “on the fence”, as far as abortion legality went, I still supported it, and was still judging many of these Pro-Lifers from what my Pro-Choice friends (typically, but not always, extremists) had told me about them).

I had started to call myself “on the fence” because I came to realize, slowly but surely, that there were many great Pro-Life points out there (and great Pro-Life people, even if I didn’t realize that my “enemies” were some of them). There were bad Pro-Choice arguments, and I’m really glad that the ones who first started pointing these out to me were not the stereotypical hateful Pro-Lifers/extremists. I don’t know what I would have done if they had been. No doubt, I would have been even more resistant to change than I already was.

I actually paid attention to the logic behind arguments. And I think that is what made a world of difference. There was still that day though, and that book. It’s not a large book, but it’s significant. For some time, by this point, I called myself “Pro-Solution” and had a page about trying to find common ground between the Pro-Life and Pro-Choice sides of abortion. I was certain it existed, and still am. However, due to the nature of the terrible people I still associated myself with, I had countless times gotten discouraged (and I will address this in the next post). I will share with you the title of the book and maybe you’ll see why just that alone is significant. But I am not going to share that with you yet. First, I want to share with you the date. September 12, 2012: The day I met Josh Brahm, Clinton Wilcox, and a few other important people.

“God loves you, Roni. Seek him all your days.”
~JM
(one of the messages on the title page)

I cannot possibly express to you how excited I was as my mother drove me, my sisters, Piper, and my husband (at the time) to Wichita. I was going to meet Josh and Clinton! I’d been talking to them online for a good year (more than that!) now and here they were in my state! AAAAH!!! I could not contain my excitement, either. I would catch myself smiling when I thought about it on my ride there. I cannot, for the life of me, remember what my family was going to go do while I hung out with Josh and Clinton (and some guy named Steve). I didn’t care then, and I don’t care today. The point of the day was to meet two really, really awesome people.

Here was the plan: I was going to be dropped off at Steve’s place where Josh and Clinton were staying, and we would hang out there for a while. Then we’d go to Olive Garden and eat. Then I’d go back home.

As we pulled into the driveway I saw Josh outside. I waited (barely) for the car to stop before I got out, jogged, and had to jump up in order to hug him–he was tall, okay? Clinton is quite a bit taller than me, too. Pretty sure I had to jump to hug him too. And I’m only 4’11”. I then introduced Josh and Clinton to my family and to my husband. I introduced them to my precious baby girl, who was a whole year and two months old at the time).

“Dear Roni,
It was a pleasure to meet you. I admire your desire to think critically and enjoyed tonight’s discussion.
Peace and joy,”
~JW (Steve’s sister)
(Another message on the title page)

I’d brought a bag of books with me, to show the books I’d been reading. I had also brought one of my favorite books, a legal text, regarding bioethics, personal autonomy, and social regulation. It was this big, bulky, brown book–one that you would see in a lawyer’s office, or one you’d have to read from in law school. I still treasure it. I think that they may have been shocked, but in retrospect, they’ve both read so many books on the abortion issue, if they did seem shocked, I wonder if it was simply to compliment me?

We talked for some time about how awesome it was to be meeting, and not just Skyping or chatting behind a screen in a debate forum. I genuinely think they were happy to see me, which is really weird because I was (and still am) a nothing. I’m not some kind of big philosopher. I’m not that smart. I’m not famous. I’m not, nor have I ever been, big in the Pro-Choice or Pro-Life movements. I’m this woman who lives in Kansas who sometimes Skypes with people and talks on the phone with others. People don’t listen to my views and think that I’m some big thinker. I don’t think I’ve influenced many with my views at all. I’m just now making more friends and just now really desiring to do something with my views (blog, talk, listen, go out there and do something).

“Roni
I appreciate knowing you and enjoy our discussions. I know you’ll enjoy this book.”
~Clinton Wilcox

I’m pretty sure Steve wasn’t there in the beginning, because if I am remembering correctly, he and his sister came home after I arrived and had been talking to Josh and Clinton. Steve introduced himself, as did his sister. There was someone else with them (JM), who also introduced himself.

We all sat in the kitchen/dining area (they were in the same room), and there the real talking began. It was wonderful to be able to be heard. In most online debates, you speak all you want but your arguments are seldom heard from the opposite side, and if they are, it is mostly so that the opposing side can misconstrue them. For a long time, by that day, I had been mostly asking questions and lurking. Of course I’d debate too, but it was mostly on the pages where, again, you weren’t really heard. But here these people were, (all Pro-Life, mind you) talking to me, asking me questions, and–here’s the kicker–actually listening to me. They didn’t tell me I was wrong. They didn’t call me a murderer. They addressed what I said, asked for clarification, and they let me ask questions–answering every single one I asked. Now THIS was a discussion! Their questions were sometimes difficult to answer though.

I remember one stuck out: Someone asked me what the difference between a child immediately after birth and the fetus immediately before birth. Not just what the difference was, but what the MORAL difference was. There aren’t really that many differences anyway, physically, and I couldn’t think of a moral difference. It moved back from there. What was the moral difference between a fetus at 39 weeks to 38? 38 to 37? 37 to 36? And down and down and down.

I noticed that my knowledge of facts really didn’t have nearly as big of a part in the discussion as I would have liked then. I understand it now, but I still felt like all facts were 100% relevant and you could derive an “ought” from an “is.”

The discussion really didn’t last long, though. But it was fantastic. I wish I could see more of these, be a part of more of them. Some might say it was unfair; four Pro-Lifers to one “non-traditional Pro-Lifer” (as Josh had once called me). Four individuals to one who had been so extreme at one point. But each question opened my mind further.

Titanic

If you’ve seen Titanic (and if you know me, you know Titanic references are 150% predictable and valid), perhaps you remember that the iceberg it struck seemed to come out of nowhere (despite The approximate locations of the six openings in Titanic's hull (indicated in green).the warnings), and when it struck the hull of the ship, instead of ripping straight through, it left a series of holes. That was pretty much what my conversion was like.

My Pro-Choice ship was sinking. There weren’t enough lifeboats to save everything. But it was going to take a good while for it to sink, considering its size and the small breaks in the hull. I had a ton of Pro-Choice friends, many of them hateful, and I knew that no matter how many flares I shot, many of them wouldn’t understand. The ones that managed to rescue the pieces of my Pro-Choice self (which I came to desperately cling to) were too late when they arrived. The ship was already gone.

I had mentioned that I wanted to find common ground between the two sides of abortion. Someone mentioned that Steve had written a book. He even had a copy. Better yet, he was going to give it to me. Best detail: He was going to give it to me FOR FREE. BOOYAH!

He handed the book to me. It was small (especially compared to other books I owned), but I didn’t care. I knew before I looked at it that I would treasure it. But then, I read the title and the value of the book to me rose to infinite heights:

Have you read this book yet? And why not? Order it at CommonGroundBook.com.

And then they wanted to write in the book. I’m not sure what prompted that, but they did. The fourth message in the book read:

“To Roni–
It was a joy to meet you [and] have you in our home. You’re welcome anytime. Enjoyed seeking truth together with you!”
~Steven Wagner

I’m actually crying now as I type this. I will never be able to thank the people I met that day enough. Don’t judge me.

Clinton, Josh, and I went to eat at Olive Garden. I’d never been to one before, but I knew I liked chicken alfredo. I can’t remember what the other two ordered, but I do remember that when we got our salad, the server asked if we wanted any cheese on it, and was prepared to pour some on the salad. I refused. Clinton said yes. He got cheese. When asked if that was enough, Clinton wanted more. I respect Clinton more for loving cheese. It’s delicious.

And I swear to you that some deity made my chicken alfredo, because I was in heaven. It was so delicious.

chickenalfredo

I was dropped off at a Barnes & Noble bookstore, where my family was, after dinner. I was sad to see the day end, but I knew I would never forget it. I cherish the memories. I cherish the book. I cherish the friends i had and the friends I made. I wish I could tell Steve about this change. I wish I could thank him again–him, his sister, Clinton, Josh, and JM. I will never stop being thankful for the real discussion, the real dialogue, the listening, the understanding.

I love you, my friends. You have made me a better person, even if I didn’t realize it then.

Oh, but before I end this, I recall telling you that there were five messages on the title page. I’ve only shared four. Let me share that last one.

“To my closest pro-choice, soon to be pro-life friend Roni.”

Liberals are Not Pro-Choice- They are No Choice

If liberals really believed in choice, they would not oppose giving parents the choice to place their children in charter schools; something they do vociferously. But self-protective teachers’ unions whose leaders know that under-performing public schools cannot stand up to the competition of charter schools use their political clout to eliminate them as an option. In other words, liberals use political power to ensure that parents have no choice when it comes to the education of their children. So much for choice.

If liberals really believed in choice, they would not attack black Americans who choose independence over government assistance, nor would they attack black Americans who choose conservatism over liberalism. Let a black American choose to identify himself on the basis of something other than race and that individual becomes a pariah among liberals. Let a successful black American choose to publically state that government dependence is just another way to keep the minority races in chains and he will be labeled a traitor or an Uncle Tom. Let a black American choose to join the Republican Party and the attacks on him will be unmerciful and unrelenting. So much for choice.Tyranney Alert

If liberals really believed in choice, they would not put so much effort into taking away the choice Americans are given by the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment allows Americans to decide for themselves whether they wish to be armed or not. Liberals have already been successful in making the choice to own guns more difficult than the Second Amendment suggests it should be. Apparently the only people liberals want to have freedom of choice when it comes to guns are the criminals who cause all of the gun-related problems liberals are always wringing their hands about. No law or regulation enacted or proposed by liberals has done anything to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. The only people punished by gun laws are law-abiding citizens. So much for choice.

Complete MessageIf liberals believed in choice, they would not have passed and enacted healthcare legislation that gives Americans no choice concerning health insurance. The misnamed Affordable Care Act was passed out of Congress without even a hint of support from Republicans and over the objections of a few thinking Democrats. Prior to passage of the AFA, Americans could choose what type of health insurance to buy and what types of coverage the insurance would provide. In fact, they could even choose to do without health insurance, which many healthy younger people did. Not anymore. Obamacare took away an American’s choice when it comes to health insurance. So much for choice.

If liberals really believed in choice, they would not have passed regulations that require gasoline to contain ethanol. In the old days Americans could pull into a gas station and choose between regular, mid-grade, and high-test gasoline. Now, no matter what grade of gasoline you choose it is likely to contain ethanol courtesy of the federal government. Despite the fact that scientists have known for some time that ethanol is not the environmentally safe alternative advocates claim it to be, liberals still oppose giving Americans freedom of choice when it comes to the gasoline they use in their cars, trucks, and gasoline powered equipment. So much for choice.

If liberals really believed in choice, they would not tell Americans what size soft drinks they are allowed to purchase, what type of toilet they have to buy, or what type of light bulbs they must use. This article has touched on only a few choices liberals have taken away from Americans; there are many, many more. Not only that, every day bureaucrats in the federal government are creating new and more burdensome regulations that will rob us of additional choices. Liberals make a lot of noise about being pro-choice but the facts belie their hypocritical claim. The truth is, liberals want you to be able to murder an innocent unborn baby and that is about it. As to other choices in your life, they will make them for you. So much for choice.

NOW President: Babies Wouldn’t Die So Much If We’d Just Kill Them Before They Died

http://www.lifenews.com/2014/05/14/now-president-babies-wouldnt-die-so-much-if-wed-just-kill-them-before-they-died/

by Matt Yonke | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com | 5/14/14 1:17 PM

National Organization for Women (NOW) president Terry O’Neill published an editorial on the Huffington Post today entitled, “Abortion, Like Contraception, Is Essential Health Care That Saves Lives.”

Let that sink in for a second. A procedure that’s taken over 50 million lives in the U.S. alone since 1973 . . . saves lives.

O’Neill’s “life saving” abortions

terryoneill

National Organization for Women (NOW) president Terry O’Neill. Notice the typical smug look on her face. The face of a child hater.

How does O’Neill get to the conclusion promised in the title, that “abortion care” saves lives? Easy! She ignores 50% of the people involved in every abortion.

The first place she looks for saved lives from abortion is high infant mortality rates. They’d be so much lower if more of those pesky underprivileged women would just get more abortions. That’s right, her solution to high infant mortality rates is to kill the babies before they get the chance to die!

From the article (emphasis mine):

We have a premature birth crisis in this country that can be directly linked to our failure to provide adequate contraception and abortion care. About half of pregnancies in the U.S. each year are unintended, and for those women who carry their pregnancies to term (more than half do), the prognosis is anything but great. They not only experience higher rates of premature birth, but also are more likely to have inadequate prenatal care, low birth weight and small size infants, maternal depression and anxiety.

From a public health point of view, abortion care, no less than contraception, is an essential measure to prevent the heartbreak of infant mortality . . .

To avoid the “heartbreak of infant mortality,” we should just kill the infants before anyone starts keeping statistics about them.

Again, from the article (emphasis mine):

. . . as more states like Texas and North Carolina restrict access to abortion care, more women are dying in childbirth or pregnancy, and more infants are not surviving to their first birthday.

They’re not surviving to their first birthday because you didn’t even give them the chance to be born, Terry!

Killing the poor would be an efficient way to reduce poverty, disease, recidivism, and any number of other problems, except that it’s wrong to kill the people who have problems in order to solve problems!

O’Neill mentions maternal mortality, which I won’t address in detail because it’s never right to kill someone in order to solve your problems, and so abortion cannot be a solution to the problem of maternal mortality. But it should be noted that the data actually shows that direct abortion is never necessary to save a woman’s life.

The Myth of “Abortion Care”

But, at its heart, O’Neill’s piece is an attempt to make the phrase “abortion care” happen. Planned Parenthood and their ilk have been using the phrase for a while, though apparently not everyone is getting on board with this bit of Newspeak, or O’Neill’s piece would not have been necessary.

“Abortion care” is yet another attempt to shift focus off the human being who’s being killed in every single abortion procedure. Abortion can only be called “care” if you’re not thinking about the person who’s being dismembered.

But controlling the narrative is at least half the battle in a culture war, so it’s imperative that we who recognize the inherent value of the child in the womb combat their twisting of language.

Don’t let the phrase “abortion care” go by unchallenged if it’s used in your presence. All that’s required for a pernicious phrase like “abortion care” to slip into the American lexicon is for you and me to say nothing.

Ask about what care is being provided to the child. Show the images of abortion victims to “abortion care” advocates, and ask what kind of care they would call that. Ask how killing a child so it doesn’t die solves the problem of infant mortality.

But whatever you say, keep the focus on the child in the womb, whose life is an end in itself, not a tool to be used to fix statistics we don’t like.

Planned Parenthood Abortion Doc Surrenders License After Sexually Molesting Patients

http://www.lifenews.com/2014/05/02/planned-parenthood-abortion-doc-surrenders-licenses-after-sexually-molesting-patients/

by Cheryl Sullenger | Boston, MA | LifeNews.com | 5/2/14 10:59 AM

A former Planned Parenthood abortionist has surrendered his Massachusetts medical license amid allegations that he sexually molested patients – many under anesthesia – during fertility treatments at Fertility Centers of New England.

However, yesterday’s story in the Boston Globe, which reported on Roger Ian Hardy’s legal woes, failed to mention that Hardy once worked for Planned Parenthood where he had similar access to women as he had at a fertility clinic where he molested and inappropriately touched women over a period of two decades.

“You won’t read about his connections to Planned Parenthood in the Boston Globe, but you should!” said Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue. “Sexual abuse of patients and staianhardyff is more common than people realize among those who work as abortionists. These men have access to women when they are extremely vulnerable. It’s an unspeakable betrayal. Adding to the scandal is the reticence of medical boards to take action when women bravely come forward to file complaints. Hardy’s situation is a case in point.”

In 1991, Hardy began moonlighting for Planned Parenthood in Santa Clara, California, then moved to Massachusetts in 1992 when he began providing abortions for Planned Parenthood of League of Massachusetts, Inc. In the late 1990’s, documents show he was accused of at least one case of medical malpractice as evidenced in a suit filed against him and Planned Parenthood related to an incomplete abortion. Why he left Planned Parenthood is unknown, but the Boston Globe article published on May 1, 2014, indicates that Hardy’s abhorrent behavior stretched back as far as 20 years, which would include his stint with Planned Parenthood in Massachusetts.

In 2004, a woman filed a complaint with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine alleging that Hardy took advantage of her while she was under anesthesia at a fertility clinic after discovering suspicious physical injuries the following day. The Board sent her complaint to Hardy, who wrote a long letter denying the charges and suggested that the woman’s injuries were self-inflicted. [Read the documents related to this complaint. Warning: sexually graphic content.]

The Board closed the complaint without action. The woman wrote a letter back complaining that the Board was not doing its job, but no further action was taken, until recently.

That 2004 complaint was revisited after 18 witnesses came forward to testify against him about his inappropriate sexual behavior not only with his patients, but also female members of his staff. The Board has since determined that Hardy had indeed sexually abused the women who had come forward in 2004.

In addition to surrendering his Massachusetts medical license, Hardy’s licenses have been suspended in Maine and New Hampshire.

Part two of the Boston Globe’s exposé
on Hardy mentions the “code of silence” that protected him. One employee was upset when she saw Hardy fondling a patient’s breast but was told not to report it if she did not want to be known as a “disgruntled worker.”

“Ironically, the Boston Globe is part of that that ‘code of silence’ because not once in two articles did it warn former patients of Planned Parenthood that there is a possibility that they also may have been victims of Hardy’s perverted practices,” said Newman. “It appears that the paper is shielding Planned Parenthood’s abortion business from scrutiny when women have a right to know the truth.”

Operation Rescue has found that even when clinic workers do have the courage to report such abuses, often the medical boards turn a blind eye or just slap the offender on the wrist and send him back into the exam room, which only ensures that the abuse will continue.

“If the Board had taken the 2004 complaint against this man seriously, perhaps it would have spared countless women from being abused,” said Newman. “We’ve seen this kind of behavior with abortionists more times that we can stomach.”

• Oklahoma Nareshkumar Patel was charged with rape after several women came forward with horrific stories of his appalling sexual conduct with abortion patients and clinic workers. Unfortunately, Patel was inexplicably exonerated despite the overwhelming evidence against him.
• Maryland abortionist Harold O. Alexander was found to have “crossed sexual boundaries” with patients at his abortion business in Forestville. That and a slew of other violations earned him just a three-month suspension in 2012.
• Former Planned Parenthood abortionist Timothy Liveright was accused of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior with patients at a Delaware Planned Parenthood in 2013. He received only a public reprimand.
• Former California abortionist Laurence Reich was convicted of raping and molesting his female patients in the 1980s. With his license restored in the 1990’s Reich went to work at an abortion clinic where he had unrestricted access to vulnerable women. Once again, he was caught sexually abusing his abortion patients and surrendered his license in 2007, yet when his clinic was raided by police a year later, they found Reich still at work doing abortions.
• Maryland abortionist Mansour G. Panah’s long history of discipline started in 1988 when he was accused of fondling and attempting to kiss his patients on the mouth. He was disciplined once again for unwanted sexual contact with patients in 1995. One woman received as many as three breast examinations in one visit for no medical reason. When asked why the need for repeated examinations, Panah simply expressed admiration for the woman’s breasts. His Maryland medical license remains active.
• Houston abortionist Douglas Karpen was said to have engaged in sexual harassment in accusations made by his former employees. They reported that he would also touch abortion patients he found attractive in inappropriate ways. Their complaints were dismissed by the Texas Board of Medicine.
• In 2012, a filed suit alleging patient molestation and employee sexual harassment at Lovejoy Surgicenter in Portland, Oregon. The surgical nurse accused of the molestations was fired and the clinic continues to operate without further action.
• In one of the few cases where an abortionist was actually prosecuted, Arizona abortionist Brian Finkel was sentenced to 35 years in prison for raping and otherwise sexually abusing over 100 of his abortion patients.

“Our list of abusers could go on and on, but the point is that authorities often look the other way when receiving complaints that women have suffered from sexual abuse and harassment at the hands of abortionists,” said Newman. “Boards should show more respect for the clinic workers and patients who have the courage to come forward, and take their allegations more seriously. That could help prevent dozens, if not hundreds of women from being raped, molested, and otherwise abused.”

Because clinic workers and patients often fear reprisals if they report abusive behavior, Operation Rescue offers the Abortion Whistleblowers Program, which operates in a way similar to Crime Stoppers. Operation Rescue offers a $25,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of abortionists who are breaking the law.

“People like Hardy and his ilk should be criminally prosecuted for their crimes and we hope the authorities in Massachusetts are looking into doing just that. We hope that our reward offer will encourage both clinic workers and patients to come forward and blow the whistle on abortionists’ abusive or otherwise criminal activity,” said Newman. “We are constantly working to get abortionists like Hardy off the street and into jail where they belong so women have fewer predators to fear. Those who do come forward are heroes, in my opinion.”

547 Babies Saved From Abortion as 40 Days for Life Prayer Campaign Ends

http://www.lifenews.com/2014/04/14/547-babies-saved-from-abortion-as-40-days-for-life-prayer-campaign-ends/

Another 40 Days for Life campaign is now complete, and we’re still counting the blessings God has provided!

More of our local campaign leaders will be sending in their reports soon … but so far, we are aware of …

547 babies whose lives have been spared from abortion during this campaign!

And as always, those are only the ones we know about. Here are some of those stories.

——————————————————-
EL PASO, TEXAS
——————————————————-

40d17“Exciting news from the sidewalk!” said one of the El Paso volunteers. “A woman rejects abortion! “

When the woman arrived with her sister, there was a group of people praying on the sidewalk. One of the counselors talked to them, and provided information about positive options.

They continued on their way inside the abortion center … but came out soon after. “With a smile on her face,” the volunteer said, “the woman said she had changed her mind.” She was thinking about abortion because she feared her husband’s response to the pregnancy. But after talking with the counselors, she no longer felt afraid.

“We believe the prayers of everyone united helped give this woman the courage she needed to say yes to life,” the El Paso volunteer said. “Praise the Lord!”

——————————————————-
TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA
——————————————————-

A couple parked near the abortion facility in Tuscaloosa – close to the location where 40 Days for Life volunteers were praying. As they walked towards the building, vigil participants offered them information, but they didn’t take it.

They weren’t inside for long before they exited and said they couldn’t go through with the abortion. The woman said she couldn’t do it “because of all the young girls inside.”

The two were visibly shaken by what they had seen inside the abortion center. This time, they took the information the volunteers had offered.

——————————————————-
PENSACOLA, FLORIDA
——————————————————-

The Pensacola team asks for prayers for a woman who was abortion-minded … until the baby’s father convinced her not to go through with it.

The woman is still struggling, however. She has had a number of abortions in the past and feels she is incapable of mothering a child. She does, however, seem open to adoption … and there is a couple that stands ready and willing to adopt the baby.

“Please pray,” said one of the Pensacola volunteers, “that God will give them all the strength, love, mercy, and healing that they need to proceed with these adoption plans and provide a most beautiful future for this baby.”

ZAGREB, CROATIA
——————————————————-

Lastly, a few words for this campaign in Croatian: 40 Dana Za Život — 40 Days for Life — and they’re on a billboard above a row of buildings in Zagreb.

“They are an impressive group,” said Robert Colquhoun, our international outreach director, who visited Zagreb recently.

Dan Miller, the local 40 Days for Life director in Milwaukee, Wisconsin saw this photo and said, “this says awesome in any language!”

I think we can say that about all of the 40 Days for Life volunteers. You’re awesome! May God bless you richly!

321 Babies Saved From Abortion So Far During 40 Days for Life

http://www.lifenews.com/2014/03/31/321-babies-saved-from-abortion-so-far-during-40-days-for-life/

by Shawn Carney | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com | 3/31/14 9:40 AM

I was in Charlotte, North Carolina last week and have amazing news from that city. But first, there is even better news. Already in this 40 Days for Life campaign, we’ve had reports of 321 babies that have been saved from abortion! Praise God for His mercy and love!

There are two reports today. One shows the power of a strong, consistent pro-life witness. The other shows the agony a woman goes through when it’s clear the “choice” to have an abortion is not her own.

——————————————————-
CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA
——————————————————-

John in Charlotte sent a quick note as a follow-up to my recent stop there: “46 saves! Praise God!”

It helps that a local pregnancy center parks its mobile ultrasound RV outside the abortion center – an impossible-to-ignore, positive resource that has encouraged so many women reject abortion.

I had a great visit with the Charlotte team, including Katherine and Andrea, the two women who first brought 40 Days for Life to the area … even before it became a national campaign (their story of courage and success is featured in the 40 Days for Life book).

40d27

The abortion center knows the combination of prayer and a determined, life-affirming witness on the sidewalk is hurting business. So their security guard is outside regularly, yelling at volunteers and turning up loud rap music on his car’s sound system in an attempt to silence the prayers.

I saw this for myself! But it isn’t working. Since March 5, it has failed on at least 46 occasions!

——————————————————-
BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA
——————————————————-

As Carrie, her friend Laura and their children prayed at the 40 Days for Life vigil in Brisbane, a drama played out before their eyes outside the Dr. Marie abortion facility.

“A young woman and her boyfriend were walking in and out of the front door for 10 minutes or so,” Carrie said. “The man kept trying to comfort the woman and hold her hand – and also lead her into the clinic.”

It certainly looked like the woman had no interest in going inside. So they turned away and sat in the garden for a while. Carrie and Laura smiled at them, prayed quietly, and kept watch with the children.

After a time, they walked towards the door again. The man walked up the steps, but the woman stopped, threw her bags down and started crying. She kept looking at the vigil participants’ faces … and the children. “We were just being there,” Carrie said.

They approached the door one more time and the woman still refused to go in again. This time, they left and did not return. The volunteers prayed that this woman would continue to be brave and refuse to abort her child.

“It was profound to be there, keeping watch,” Carrie said. “It is a very sad place to be in the world, but we were there — being light in a dark place.”

GIRLS IN THE SHADOWS: Sex Trafficking, Abortion, Pornography, Drugs and Millions of Slaves

 http://clashdaily.com/2014/03/girls-shadows-sex-trafficking-abortion-pornography-drugs-millions-slaves/#3IiF6w5ZDzlbP4LW.99

By Allan Erickson / 30 March 2014

sex_trafficking_child_victimsImagine a 12-year-old little girl, enticed by “friends” with the promise of a career in modeling, movies or show business.  She is told she can make a great deal of money posing for “fashion” photos.  Promises are made about riches and fame. Slowly she is lured into the world of pornography, drug abuse, and prostitution.  And if she tries to escape she is drugged even more, beaten, imprisoned, and sometimes killed.

Little boys are victimized as well.

According to the Polaris Project, there may be as many as 27 million people enslaved by traffickers worldwide, one million of these, children, sold into the sex trade.

The connections between human trafficking, pornography, abortion and the drug trade are obvious.  Keep in mind each is a business—-some legal, some illegal—-and each business generates enormous profits.  Equally obvious, the use of drugs to lower inhibitions and enforce compliance is useful in recruiting slaves and promoting pornography, which is useful in developing new customers for the prostitution trade.  Abortion feeds off all of it. After all, child sex slaves and prostitutes lose their profitability if pregnant.

The direct link between sex trafficking and government-financed abortion has been established by pro-life activists.

Excerpt:

In an undercover investigation, LiveAction sent actors into seven facilities, posing as a prostitute and pimp to inquire about Planned Parenthood’s services. During the conversation, they revealed that they were sex workers and even that they worked with girls as young as 14. According to the law, sex trafficking is considered a federal crime punishable by imprisonment of 10 years to life. But Planned Parenthood didn’t comply with the law. Instead they offered support, secrecy and cover-up . . .

Lawlessness is the norm within Planned Parenthood.  One former clinic director accuses the abortion provider of risky medical practices and financial malfeasance, insisting taxpayer dollars support abortion.  Fraudulent claims for reimbursement from Medicaid is another accusation from a former Planned Parenthood director.   Still another former director says Planned Parenthood regularly provided defective contraception, intentionally putting girls at risk of pregnancy in order to increase abortion revenue.

Of course supporters of Planned Parenthood stand against notification of parents prior to any abortion procedure on a minor. Can’t have parental rights trumping profits.  No wonder the friends of Planned Parenthood resist efforts to educate women about the reality of human life in the womb, and the terrible damage done to women who suffer abortion.  Abortion is a women’s health issue, a matter of reproductive rights, not harmful to women, and not the killing of innocent human life.

Tyranney Alert

When government funds an organization conspiring with criminals to defraud taxpayers, and all of it supports the profit motives of abortionists, traffickers, pornographers and pimps, people have a right to be outraged and demand correction.  This president and Democrats in power have long insisted Planned Parenthood receive government funding.  They have turned a blind eye to the damage done by pornography, refusing to regulate it behind a false argument calling such regulation censorship.  Democrats have promoted and instituted abortion on demand, financed by taxpayers.  And can anyone say Democrats are serious about doing something about drug abuse when the push has always been legalization?

Conservatives, on the other hand, have stood against illegal drugs, prostitution, Planned Parenthood, abortion and the efforts throughout culture to hyper-sexualize everyone, youth especially.

In light of these realities, who do you think is truly against trafficking, and which party is actually engaged in a war on women?

211 Babies Saved From Abortion So Far During 40 Days for Life Campaign

http://www.lifenews.com/2014/03/24/211-babies-saved-from-abortion-so-far-during-40-days-for-life-campaign/

by Shawn Carney | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com | 3/24/14 9:29 AM

Here we are at the halfway point of our 40 Days for Life campaign … and God has really been generous with His blessings! So far, there have been 211 babies saved from abortion that we know of. And maybe more!

Here are a couple of stories about the impact of the peaceful, prayerful vigils.

——————————————————-
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS
——————————————————-

40d25Deana and other 40 Days for Life participants in Little Rock watched as three couples arrived at the abortion center – and all left without having abortions.

The first couple arrived with a child. “They were told they couldn’t bring the child into the building,” Deana said. After a short time, they exited the side door of the abortion facility and left.

A second couple arrived – and was quickly met by a security guard who said they couldn’t bring the bag they were carrying inside. They left the bag in their car and went in. “Not long afterward, they were seen leaving,” Deana said. The young woman was in tears.

As a third couple then approached the building, volunteers noticed the woman had a bewildered look on her face. They weren’t inside very long. When they came out, the woman had that same wide-eyed look on. They also left the area and did not return.

“We pray that they chose life for these babies and find the support they need,” Deana said.

——————————————————-
TUCSON, ARIZONA
——————————————————-

Kaitlynn said as volunteers were praying outside the abortion center in Tucson, a young woman pulled up and parked – in the wrong lot. These parking spaces are very close to the vigil location, and “for that very reason, women are told not to park there.”

“She got out of the car and looked anxious,” Kaitlynn said. “She was 16 weeks pregnant and her boyfriend told her she had to get an abortion. After we informed her that no one could force her to have an abortion, we gave her information about the local pro-life pregnancy resource centers.”

After gladly reviewing her newfound options, the woman declared she would not follow through with the abortion. “A life was saved,” Kaitlynn said, “all because she chose the wrong parking lot!”

Six States Are Almost Abortion-Free and Have Just One Abortion Business Left

http://www.lifenews.com/2014/03/24/six-states-are-almost-abortion-free-and-have-just-one-abortion-business-left/

by Jill Stanek | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com | 3/24/14 10:21 AM

Back in January 2010 I reported that the DC Abortion Fund had given the “gorgeous and touching” coat hanger pendant as a holiday fundraising gift. And it’s so très chic, constructed of “handmade sterling silver,” no less.

Two days ago, National Review Online noticed DCAF is again hawking the coat hanger bauble, and this time Drudge picked up the story, drawing the abortion funder lots of scorn.

goodnewsAn editor at U.S. News & World Report called DCAF’s give-away a “misguided parody” that “makes you wonder what goes on in the minds of people who think a trinket like that is a good idea as it lampoons the horrors of back alley abortions and makes light of the imagery the supporters of legal abortion used for decades to get their point across.”

I, on the other hand, want to thank DCAF and the pro-abortion community for their decades long “anti-coathanger abortion” public service announcements. They pretty much ensure no one will be so senseless as to try to kill her baby that way once abortion again becomes illegal, since the psa’s make it clear she might take herself out in the process.

Indeed, I think evidence points to the fact that the coathanger-abortion psa’s are having a positive impact in almost-post-abortion America. If, when abortions become difficult to obtain, we will return to the coathanger-abortion days, as abortion proponents threaten, you’d think we’d already be seeing them in any of the six states – Arkansas,  Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming – that are now down to one abortion provider. But no.

Or how about in Texas, where a “400-mile stretch between Houston and the Louisiana border,” in the “vast, impoverished Rio Grande Valley,” quoting CBS News, is now without an abortion clinic?

Indeed, if abortion access is indeed now “in a full-blown crisis,” as claimed at Salon the other day, shouldn’t we be seeing that crisis played out in coathanger abortions?

But we have abortion advocates constantly warning against them, from old

I Am Afraid of This Indisputable Pro-Abortion Argument

I took the bait. I couldn’t help but open an email with the subject line: “You’re afraid of this pro-choice argument”

Afraid? I’m afraid of a lot of things. Actually, five things: spiders, asteroids, ghosts, head lice, and malaria. But arguments? Especially pro-abortion arguments? Definitely not on the list.

I might be frustrated by them; annoyed, angered, even disturbed, but afraid? I don’t think so.

Here’s Rachel, trying to strike fear into my heart:

Dear Matt, ever since I first read your blog I knew you were a cowardly fake. It wasn’t until I started reading some of your anti-choice articles that my suspicions were truly confirmed. You spend a lot of time picking the low hanging fruit. You attack the weakest abortion rights arguments while ignoring the glaring weaknesses in your own position.

If you had the guts or the brains you’d try to respond to the most important abortion rights argument… bodily autonomy or bodily integrity. This means that we have the final jurisdiction over our own bodies. Nobody can claim a right to our body that goes above our own right. Nobody can use our bodies without consent. We cannot be forced to donate organs or blood to someone else. A fetus must survive on a woman’s body so the woman has a right to withdrawal her consent and her body at any time.

prolifeimage46This is the pro-choice argument that no anti-choice fanatic… especially one as stubborn and simpleminded as you… could ever possibly dispute. If you still don’t understand, try to imagine this hypothetical…

Imagine that you wake up one morning in a hospital bed. In the bed next to you is a famous singer. He is unconscious and all of these tubes are connected from him to you. A doctor comes in and explains that the singer became sick and you are the only person with the right blood type to match his. They need you to remain hooked up to him until he recovers… they tell you it should only take nine months. Until then, he needs to use all of your organs… your kidneys, liver, lungs, everything… just to survive. If you unplug yourself, he will die. So do you think you are obligated to stay plugged in? Does he have a right to live off of you like this? Should you be FORCED to stay connected to him?

That’s what situation the pregnant woman is in. Instead of harping on all of these irrelevant issues, I wish you’d be brave enough to address it from this angle. It is immoral to require a woman to sustain a fetus and it is moral for a woman to make a decision with her body based on what is right for her. How can you argue against this?

But I guess your blog is more about preaching to the choir than actually being intelligent and bold in your writing. What a shame.

-Rachel

Here’s my answer:

Dear Rachel,

You’re right. You win. I have no response. I can’t think of any reason why you’re wrong about any of the points you raised.

Well, I can’t think of any reason — except for, like, ten reasons. So I’ll start with five reasons why that hypothetical is flawed, and move on to five additional reasons why your overall argument is flawed.

Here we go:

baby, womb, pregnant, woman1. Your analogy is flawed because it presupposes that the relationship between mother and child is no more significant, and carries with it no more responsibility, than the relationship between a person and some random stranger in a hospital bed.

This is absurd. If we’re trying to make this hypothetical as close to pregnancy as possible, shouldn’t the sick singer (or violinist, according to the original iteration of this hypothetical) at least be your child? Your argument doesn’t work because the fact that your child is your child, and not some strange adult from across town, is precisely the point. Hidden cleverly in this hypothetical is the insinuation that one cannot agree that an unborn child has a right to his mother’s body, without agreeing that anyone in the entire world, in any context, for any reason, at any point, for any period of time, has a right to a woman’s body.

Nice try, Rachel.

Just because a mother is expected to be a mother doesn’t mean she’s also expected to be a slave, a prostitute, and a forced organ donor to talented musical artists. Indeed, the extent of our responsibility to a person hinges in many ways on our relationship to them. You would, I assume, agree that you have a responsibility to your born children, wouldn’t you? And your responsibility to them extends far beyond your responsibility to your neighbor, or your plumber, or your trash collector, doesn’t it? The relationship matters. Your hypothetical fails because it pretends that relationships are irrelevant.

2. Your analogy is flawed because it leaves out an important detail: how did the singer become ill in the first place?

Aside from cases of rape, a child is only conceived because two people intentionally committed a particular act which has, literally billions of times, resulted in the conception of a human life.

This singer came down with a terrible sickness. You might feel pity for him, but you didn’t cause him to be sick. You didn’t put him in this state. You had absolutely nothing to do with it. The same cannot be said when a child is conceived.

3. Your analogy is flawed because, when framed properly, it doesn’t strengthen your moral position — it defeats it.

The hypothetical should be this: your own child becomes very sick because of something you did. He needs a blood transfusion and you are the only match. Would you refuse to give him your blood because it infringes on your bodily autonomy? Could this be morally justified? You put your kid in the hospital and now you will choose to watch him die because he ‘doesn’t have a right to your blood.’ THIS scenario would be the closest to abortion. And, if you are consistent in your affinity for ‘bodily autonomy,’ you could not criticize parents who’d rather let their child die than be inconvenienced by a blood transfusion.

4. But, no matter how you frame the hypothetical, it is still flawed because it ignores one crucial thing: natural order.

An unborn child is exactly where he is supposed to be. He couldn’t possibly be anywhere else. This is the fundamental difference between two people hooked up to machines on a hospital bed, and a ‘fetus’ connected to his mother insider her womb. The former represents unnatural and extraordinary measures, while the latter represents something natural and ordinary. The unborn child is where Nature (or God, as I call Him) intends it to be.

The unborn child is not, in any scientific or medical sense, an intruder or a parasite. These words have meanings, and unborn babies do not fit the bill. They are where they are supposed to be. They are where they belong. A fish belongs in water, just as an unborn child belongs in his mother’s womb.

5. Beyond all of these points, the analogy is flawed because abortion is not the same as ‘unplugging’ a person from medical equipment.

It might be quite sanitary and pleasant to refer to abortion as a woman ‘withdrawing support’ from her child, but the procedure goes beyond this. During a ‘termination,’ the baby is actively killed. It is crushed, dismembered, poisoned, or torn apart. It is killed. It is actively, actually, purposefully, intentionally killed.

In fact, even in the original hypothetical — where you’re hooked up to a singer in a hospital bed — while it would be acceptable to unplug yourself, it would NOT be morally or legally permissible to shoot the poor guy in the head. A person’s physical reliance on you does not give you the moral (or legal, usually) right to murder them. ‘Withdrawing support’ is precisely what an abortion isn’t. If it was, then the baby would be delivered and left to die in the corner of the room. Of course, this is how some abortionists conduct business, but it’s illegal. If they’re caught, they go to jail.

6. But the bodily autonomy argument is flawed in ways that go beyond that utterly fallacious and misleading hypothetical. It’s flawed because nobody is crazy enough to consistently apply it to pregnant women.

According to bodily autonomy, a mother could not be judged harshly for smoking, drinking, doing coke, and going skydiving (hopefully not all in the same day) while 6 months pregnant. If you really believe that a woman’s body is autonomous — that she has absolute jurisdiction over it — then you must defend a mother who does things that could seriously harm her unborn child, even if she hasn’t chosen to abort it. This is not a slippery slope argument; this is a reasonable and inevitable application of your principle.

20 week old unborn child - when many states still allow abortion

20 week old unborn child – when many states still allow abortion

7. The bodily autonomy argument is flawed because it requires you to support abortion at every stage of development.

I’m throwing this in here because most pro-aborts will not (vocally) defend abortion at 8 or 9 months. But — if bodily autonomy is your claim — you must. Is a woman’s body less autonomous when she’s been pregnant for 35 weeks? There is no way around it: bodily autonomy means that it is moral to kill a fully formed baby, at seven months, or eight months, or nine months.

8. The bodily autonomy argument is flawed because you can’t limit it to pregnant women.

You say that our bodies cannot be ‘used’ without our ‘consent.’ Why should this apply only to pregnancy and organ donations? Children, at any age, create profound demands on their parents’ bodies. Whether it’s waking up in the middle of the night for the crying baby, working long hours to pay for their food and clothing, carrying them around when they cannot walk, staying home when you’d like to go out, going out (to bring them to the doctor, or school, or soccer practice) when you’d like to stay in, etc, etc, etc, and so forth. An argument for absolute bodily autonomy means that it can’t be illegal, or considered immoral, for a parent to decline to do any of these things, so long as their decision was made in the name of bodily autonomy.

9. The bodily autonomy argument is flawed because it necessarily justifies things like public masturbation.

If I can ‘do what I want with my body,’ then it becomes very difficult to launch a salient moral or legal attack against a man who chooses to sit in a playground in front of children and pleasure his own body.

10. Finally, the bodily autonomy argument is flawed because our bodies are not autonomous.

I’m often accused of oversimplifying, but I’ve never oversimplified to the extent of you bodily autonomy proponents. Once we’ve considered every complexity and nuance, we can rightly say that our bodies are autonomous in some ways, and in some circumstances, but not in others. We cannot say that they are absolutely autonomous, and I find it hard to believe that anyone truly thinks that.

Any claim or responsibility placed on me, automatically includes a claim and responsibility on my body. Everything I do involves my body. I am my body. CS Lewis would say that I am my soul and I have a body. I agree with him, but for our purposes in this discussion, leaving souls and spirits aside, we are our bodies. Whether we are expected to pay taxes or drive the speed limit or provide a safe and sanitary home for our children, we are using our bodies to meet these expectations. We experience and participate in life with our bodies. Absolute bodily autonomy is inexorably linked with personal autonomy. If my body is autonomous, my person must be autonomous, and if my person is autonomous, then my very existence is autonomous, and if my very existence is autonomous, then it is simply unacceptable and (by your logic) immoral for anyone to expect me to do anything for anyone at any point for any reason.

If you concede that we ought to be expected or even required to do certain things, then you are placing limits on our bodily autonomy. If you place limits on our bodily autonomy, then you are admitting that limits can be placed on our bodily autonomy. If you are admitting that limits can be placed on our bodily autonomy, then you must consider whether abortion falls within or outside of those limits. And here’s the rub: if you contend that abortion falls within the limits on bodily autonomy, you must justify that belief beyond simply reasserting our right to bodily autonomy.

Personally, I think that abortion goes well beyond the limits on bodily autonomy, for all of the reasons I’ve previously stipulated.

There’s your answer, Rachel.

But, except for the ten reasons why you’re wrong, you’re right on the money.

And, except for the ten answers I’ve provided, I have no answers for you.

I guess you win.

Thanks for writing.

I Am Overwhelmed by 55 Million Babies Killed Since Roe v. Wade

http://www.lifenews.com/2013/01/22/i-am-overwhelmed-by-55-million-babies-killed-since-roe-v-wade/

by Kristan Hawkins | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com | 1/22/13 11:40 AM

What can I say that hasn’t already been said about today?

Yesterday evening, I was sitting in my living room working while watching my sons play. I began to think about what my life would have been without them. How different I would be. How their lives have already made this world a different place since they were born. How much I would hurt if I had chosen abortion.

Then, I thought of the more than 55,000,000 lives that have been taken in the U.S. since 1973, and I became overwhelmed at the tragedy. Tragedy for the babies, their mothers, their fathers, families, and us.

Who is our nation missing? What price is our society paying for the ultimate deceit of abortion?

40 years ago today, seven men on the Supreme Court decided in favor of a case presented to them from a 27 year-old, unknown, post-abortive lawyer, Sarah Weddington. That case was Roe v. Wade and, along with its companion Doe v. Bolton, it legalized abortion in all 9 months of pregnancy, for any reason, in the United States.

Today, this 27 year-old is writing to you as a survivor of that decision. The undeniable fact is that nearly a third of my generation is missing. We are missing brothers, sisters, cousins, friends, husbands and wives.

You see, Miss Weddington’s generation got it wrong. In attempting to correct gender inequality in the workplace and in our society, they set into motion the ultimate act of discrimination – abortion. Instead of glorifying motherhood, they pitted the mother against her child, creating an endless cycle of selfishness, pain, and deceit.

But this generation is determined to set it right. We’ve seen the ultrasounds of our siblings, googled “abortion” and seen the bloody images, and sat with a friend as she cried about her abortion. This youth generation is the most pro-life generation of young people since 1973; we’re even more pro-life than even our parents’ generation. And this week our presence will be known as this generation will be the predominant participants in Wednesday’s March for Life in Washington, D.C. and pro-life rallies across the nation.

This week, we will be proudly carrying our “I am the Pro-Life Generation” signs, and Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry will watch their target audience slip away.

In fact, we already have. When Nancy Keenan, the former president of NARAL/Pro-Choice America, announced her resignation last year, she cited the lack of young pro-abortion leaders as the reason she wanted to step down. This month’s Time magazine headline story dealt with the same problem, claiming that the pro-abortion movement has been losing since 1973.

And last week’s new Planned Parenthood video and talking points on abortion confirm this fact. They don’t want to use the term “pro-choice” anymore because it’s too negatively associated with abortion. You see, they know when abortion is mentioned, their favorability falls. Their goal? Never bring it up.

So, what should be our goal? To bring up abortion in every conversation we can – in church, the grocery store, at school, and at the neighborhood party. To never forget about abortion, no matter how busy our lives may get or how sad or immobilized we become by this immense, overwhelming tragedy.

Friend, it’s time to rise up. Rise up off of your couch, out of your dorm room, or pew. Rise up and dedicate your life to something bigger than yourself.

It is the time for us to tell our stories to our friends and family about how abortion has hurt us. It’s time to paint the vision by telling people what our nation will look like without abortion and how it’s possible. It’s time to seek real justice with those young women and men facing unplanned, crisis pregnancies. It’s time to shine the light of truth, to expose Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry for what they really are.

It’s the time to stand courageously for Life.

Friends, I believe this generation of survivors will see abortion abolished in our lifetime. But it won’t be easy.

“Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.” – Harriet Beecher Stowe

I hope today, on this day of overwhelming sorrow, you will join us. There’s so much you can do.

If a Man Doesn’t Want to be a Father, He’s a Deadbeat; A Woman is Just Pro-Choice

http://www.lifenews.com/2014/01/20/if-a-man-doesnt-want-to-be-a-father-hes-a-deadbeat-a-woman-is-just-pro-choice/

by Secular Pro-Life | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com | 1/20/14 1:09 PM

When arguing about abortion, I’ve seen a lot of people claim “sex isn’t a contract.” Other variations of this idea include:

  • Consent to A doesn’t mean consent to B (that is, consent to sex doesn’t mean consent to reproduction).
  • You clearly don’t consent to reproduce if you use birth control.
  • Sex is not a crime and shouldn’t be punished / Rights cannot be restricted unless there is a crime.
The problem is, when it comes to reproduction, these arguments only apply to women.
If a man gets a woman pregnant–be it his wife, girlfriend, affair, or one night stand–he is legally bound to provide support for that child. In other words, because the man participated in the child’s conception (because the man had sex), his rights are altered. It doesn’t matter if the man was only consenting to sex, and not to reproduction. It doesn’t matter if he used birth control. It doesn’t matter that sex isn’t a crime. He fathered the kid, so the law considers him responsible for the kid.
secularprolife2And the law takes a pretty hard line on the subject. Courts can require a father to pay child support based not just on what he earns, but on what courts believe he has the ability to earn. Child support obligations remain even if a father goes to prison, or declares bankruptcy. Even if he wants to terminate his parental rights (and therefore his parental responsibilities), the courts usually won’t allow it unless there is another adult prepared to adopt the child and take over that responsibility. And there are many methods for enforcing child support. A man’s tax refunds can be intercepted, his property seized, business or occupational license suspended, and in some states his driver’s license can be revoked. If he still fails to make payment, he can be held in contempt and given jail time.
In short, if a man has sex he runs the risk of being (rather tightly) legally bound to any new life he creates. In the essay “Abortion and Fathers’ Rights“, author Stephen D. Hales summarizes the situation:
“…the father, having participated in conception, cannot escape the future duties he will have toward the child. The father can decide that he cannot afford another child, that he is not psychologically prepared to be a parent, that a child would hinder the lifestyle he wishes to pursue, and so on, to no avail.”
Sound sad? If a man is forced to pay child support, that could mean serious emotional, psychological, financial, and social repercussions for him. So why do we have child support laws? Is it because we hate sex, and want to punish people for having sex?
No, of course not. And interestingly, you rarely see anyone even suggest as much. No, it’s clear to most people that we have child support laws in order to, you know, support children. Child support laws aren’t enforced to punish men for having sex—they’re enforced because it’s best for the child. In the same way, abortion shouldn’t be outlawed to punish women for having sex—it should be outlawed to protect fetal life. In both cases, it’s not about punishment, it’s about protection.
And that’s as it should be.
I’d love to live in a world in which there are no unplanned pregnancies and no unintentional parents. I think people should have control over whether they become parents, in the sense that people should have control over whether they get pregnant or get someone pregnant. That’s why I support comprehensive sex education: I want people to understand their own fertility and, if they do choose to have sex, I want them to understand how they can best prevent pregnancy while being sexually active.
However, once pregnancy has happened, once there’s already a new human organism in the picture, it changes everything. I think the people whose actions created that new life should be responsible for its protection.
Of course, many people disagree. Abortion rights advocates place reproductive freedom over protecting the lives we create, at least when it comes to women and pregnancy. How would this mentality look if they also applied it to men and child support? Hales has an idea:
“A man has the moral right to decide not to become a father (in the social, nonbiological sense) during the time that the woman he has impregnated may permissibly abort. He can make a unilateral decision whether to refuse fatherhood, and is not morally obliged to consult with the mother or any other person before reaching a decision. Moreover, neither the mother nor any other person can veto or override a man’s decision about becoming a father. He has first and last say about what he does with his life in this regard.”

(And if we’re being really consistent, he doesn’t have to inform the woman he impregnated, or anyone else, about his decision to refuse fatherhood.)

It seems to me that consistency requires abortion rights advocates to argue for the man’s right to choose as well as the woman’s: the pro-choice mentality means that, as women can “walk away” from their pregnancies, men should be able to walk away from the women they have impregnated.

Not very uplifting, is it?

Or we could strive for a different kind of consistency–the kind that holds both men and women to a higher standard. This is why I’m for child support laws, and this is why I’m against abortion.

Woman Has Abortion Because She Couldn’t Fit Into Her Wedding Dress

http://www.lifenews.com/2013/12/26/woman-has-abortion-because-she-couldnt-fit-into-her-wedding-dress/

by Sarah Terzo | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com

In 2005, the Los Angeles Times ran a story by Stephanie Simon entitled “Offering Abortion, Rebirth.”

Simon interviewed an abortion provider named Dr. William F. Harrison and observed abortions at his clinic. Harrison died in 2010, after closing down his clinic because of health reasons.

The article quotes Harrison saying, “I am destroying life.”

Simon described witnessing an abortion on an 18-year-old girl. The author says the girl had not told her parents about her pregnancy. The unborn baby was 13 weeks along. At 13 weeks, the child has fingers, complete with fingernails. If female, the child has a uterus of her own. He or she can respond to touch and has both a heartbeat and brain waves. He can also suck his thumb. (See ultrasound pictures of 13-week-old babies here.)

According to the author:

Harrison glances at an ultrasound screen frozen with an image of the fetus taken moments before. Against the fuzzy black-and-white screen, he sees the curve of a head, the bend of an elbow, the ball of a fist.

“You may feel some cramping while we suction everything out,” Harrison tells the patient.

A moment later, he says: “You’re going to hear a sucking sound.”

The abortion takes two minutes. The patient lies still and quiet, her eyes closed, a few tears rolling down her cheeks. The friend who has accompanied her stands at her side, mutely stroking her arm.

When he’s done, Harrison performs another ultrasound. The screen this time is blank but for the contours of the uterus. “We’ve gotten everything out of there,” he says.

Right after her abortion, the teenager said:

“There’s things wrong with abortion,” she says. “But I want to have a good life. And provide a good life for my child.” To keep this baby now, she says, when she’s single, broke and about to start college, “would be unfair.”

The article also profiled several other women coming in for abortions.

A high school volleyball player says she doesn’t want to give up her body for nine months. “I realize just from the first three months how it changes everything,” she says.

Kim, a single mother of three, says she couldn’t bear to give away a child and have to wonder every day if he were loved. Ending the pregnancy seemed easier, she says – as long as she doesn’t let herself think about “what could have been.”

Many pro-lifers find it hard to understand why some women would rather abort than put the baby up for adoption – pro-lifers tend to think it would be better to adopt out a child than to kill that child. But often the thought of giving up a baby is painful for women, and many women have heard the message over and over again that abortion is not killing.

The article also describes:

Amanda, a 20-year-old administrative assistant, says it’s not the obstacles that surprise her – it’s how normal and unashamed she feels as she prepares to end her first pregnancy.

“It’s an everyday occurrence,” she says as she waits for her 2:30 p.m. abortion. “It’s not like this is a rare thing.”

Amanda was 15 weeks pregnant and has not told her boyfriend about his child. Amanda also says:

I’ve been praying a lot and that’s been a real source of strength for me. I really believe God has a plan for us all. I have a choice, and that’s part of my plan.

As much as pro-lifers don’t like to admit it, many religious people get abortions. There are some churches that support abortion. In a recent Facebook post, Abby Johnson mentioned that a member of her Episcopalian church told her to leave after she became involved in the “antichoice” movement. One study says that many women who have abortions claim to be Christian and that one out of five women coming in is a self-identified born-again or evangelical Christian (1).

Later in the article, two other women give their reasons for having abortions.

His first patient of the day, Sarah, 23, says it never occurred to her to use birth control, though she has been sexually active for six years. When she became pregnant this fall, Sarah, who works in real estate, was in the midst of planning her wedding. “I don’t think my dress would have fit with a baby in there,” she says.

The last patient of the day, a 32-year-old college student named Stephanie, has had four abortions in the last 12 years. She keeps forgetting to take her birth control pills. Abortion “is a bummer,” she says, “but no big stress.”

People on both sides of the abortion debate often say that abortion is an agonizing decision for women. They say that women do not take abortion lightly. Many pro-lifers view women as the second victims of abortion. Although this is often true, it is the sad case that some women do use abortion as birth control.

The clinic that Dr. Harrison works at makes an effort to shield women from guilt. In the abortionists’ own words, “we try to make sure she doesn’t ever feel guilty … for what she feels she has to do.”

The article goes on to say:

For the few women who arrive ambivalent or beset by guilt, Harrison’s nurse has posted statistics on the exam-room mirror: One out of every four pregnant women in the US chooses abortion. A third of all women in this country will have at least one abortion by the time they’re 45.

“You think there’s room in hell for all those women?” the nurse will ask.

If the woman remains troubled, the nurse tells her to go home and think it over.

“If they truly feel they’re killing a baby, we’re not going to do an abortion for them,” says the nurse, who asked not to be identified for fear protesters would target her.

This sounds all well and good, but right after this statement, the article goes on to quote this very same nurse saying to a teenager who is 5 weeks pregnant:

“It’s completely formed about nine weeks,” the nurse tells her. “Yours is more like a chicken yolk.”

According to The Biology of Prenatal Development:

Between 4 and 5 weeks, the brain continues its rapid growth and divides into 5 distinct sections.

The cerebral hemispheres appear, gradually becoming the largest parts of the brain.

Functions eventually controlled by the cerebral hemispheres include thought, learning, memory, speech, vision, hearing, voluntary movement, and problem-solving.

You can watch the heart of a 4-week-old unborn baby beating at this link. The baby, even at 5 weeks, is hardly an egg yolk.

Although Dr. Harrison admits that what he’s doing is killing, he contradicts himself later by saying, “It’s not a baby to me until the mother tells me it’s a baby.”

As of 2005, Dr. Harrison had performed over 20,000 abortions. He left practice in 2010 and died shortly afterward. When Harrison left practice, his abortion clinic closed its doors. He was unable to find another doctor willing to perform abortions at his clinic.

The Ten Dumbest Things Said in Defense of Abortion

by Cassy Fiano | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com | http://www.lifenews.com/2013/08/01/the-ten-dumbest-things-said-in-defense-of-abortion/

Washington, DC (LiveActionNews) — The past few years haven’t been great for abortion.

More and more people are calling themselves pro-life, including more young Americans than ever before. Pro-life laws are being passed in record numbers each year. While it would be foolish to say that pro-lifers are winning the war on abortion, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that we’re making progress — and that has the pro-aborts panicking.

Some pretty crazy statements are being made in their desperate attempt to keep abortion on demand legal at any time, for any reason. Some are flat-out ridiculous, some are insulting, and others chilling. These are ten of the dumbest things said in defense of abortion.

10. Women shouldn’t have to choose between their cell phones and birth control.

In a stunning display of entitlement, students at the University of New Mexico got upset because the school would no longer be subsidizing birth control. While pro-aborts often try to give sad, sad stories about women who need birth control out of medical necessity, or need abortion because they will DIE without it, the truth is, it’s often merely a matter of convenience. The reason women should get free birth control? Because otherwise, students might be forced to choose between their birth control and… their cell phones! Or their gym memberships! Oh, cruel world! It is just an unthinkable notion that a college student be forced to work out for free at the icky gym on campus, or go with a cheaper cell phone model — or, even worse, pay for the ultra-cheap generic brand birth control at Wal-Mart. Worst of all is the notion that they might be forced to abstain from sex, since they can’t afford birth control and aren’t ready for a baby. Because in the pro-abort world, women are merely animals, incapable of controlling their sexual urges, right?

9. Pro-lifers need a lesson on the birds and the bees.

Nancy Pelosi makes her first appearance on our list, where she responded to laws limiting (but not outlawing) abortions in North Carolina and Texas by saying that pro-life politicians needed “a lesson on the birds and the bees”. Because the only people who understand sex and pregnancy are the pro-aborts, right? Unfortunately, that has turned out to be less and less true over the years. Pro-lifers have embryology on their side, as well as the science of pregnancy and fetal development. Meanwhile, pro-aborts just try to insist that a baby is just a clump of tissues, or that fetal pain laws are dumb because fetal pain doesn’t exist, or that there are no adverse risks that come with abortion. It doesn’t matter that the science isn’t on their side — they’ll still keep claiming, like Nancy Pelosi did, that it’s pro-lifers who are the idiots in need of educating.

3d-ultrasound-fetus-baby38. Women should go into debt to have an abortion.

Abortions are often expensive, costing thousands of dollars when late-term. Ripping babies into pieces is hard work, after all. But this can mean finding the money for the abortion is difficult for some women. Thankfully, pro-aborts like Leela Yellesetty are here to help! What does she do when women are struggling to afford an abortion? Why, help put them into debt, of course! Yellesetty bragged about how she would talk women into taking about payday loans with interest rates over 300%, pawning their valuables, and putting the money for their procedure onto already maxed-out credit cards. Who cares that these women will be breaking their backs to pay off a $3,000 abortion funded by a payday loan with a 322% interest rate? The abortionist got their money, and that’s all that matters.

7. White people are trying to eliminate abortion to “build up the race”.

Pro-lifers have long since spoken out about the overwhelming number of black babies that are aborted. We speak out against the fact that black babies are being aborted at higher rates than other babies, or that many abortion clinics intentionally target minority neighborhoods. And why is this? According to CBS analyst Nancy Giles, this is all because white pro-lifers want to build up the white race. Yep, that’s right. Our dastardly plan is to build up the white race by opposing abortions of black babies, therefore leading to… erm… the births of more black babies. Makes perfect sense.

6. Men don’t deserve to have a voice on abortion.

According to many pro-aborts, men shouldn’t be allowed to talk about abortion, at all (unless they’re for abortion, in which case it’s totally cool). This is because men can’t get pregnant, so as one pro-abortion blogger said, male voices should be silenced in the abortion discussion. Nevermind that the baby is half the father’s. Men need to just shut up about abortion! And meanwhile, anyone who isn’t black can’t speak about slavery, and anyone who isn’t Jewish can’t talk about the Holocaust. Right? It’s the same logic, after all.

5. You’re only a person if you can play tennis.

A few years ago, Choice USA released a video about pregnancy that was just hilarious. To show how ridiculous the idea of a fetus being a person is, a pregnant woman is told that she has to play doubles tennis instead of singles, must pay for two tickets to see a movie instead of one, and must split a bill between two people three ways — because her unborn child is a person. Get it?? Because everyone knows that a person is defined by what they can or cannot do. In a wheelchair and can’t play tennis? Well, clearly this means you aren’t a person worthy of life.

4. As a Catholic, abortion is sacred ground.

Nancy Pelosi makes her second appearance on our list, where she talks about her wackadoodle version of the Catholic faith. Pelosi defended not only abortions, but late-term abortions, by saying that as a practicing Catholic, keeping late-term abortions legal was sacred ground. Abortion may be a sacrament for pro-aborts, but in the actual Catholic church, protecting all human life is what’s actual sacred ground. Pelosi’s fight to keep abortion legal goes against Catholic teachings, and pretending she’s a pro-abortion warrior because she’s a Catholic does nothing more than make a mockery of the Church.

3. Women who don’t support abortion are men with breasts.

It’s not unusual to hear a pro-abortion feminist say that women can’t be feminists unless they support abortion. Unless you fall in lockstep with their abortion worship, you can’t be a part of their club. But they also insist that they’re pro-choice, not pro-abortion. Actually exercise a choice they don’t agree with, though, and they’ll turn on you before you can blink. Case in point: Pennsylvania State Representative Babette Josephs, who smeared pro-life women by calling them men with breasts. Because you can’t be a real woman unless you’re willing to advocate for the brutal murder of your unborn child!

 2. Women would be nothing without abortion.

Carly Manes is 19-years-old, and defines herself as an abortion activist. She’s able to do all kinds of cool stuff, and so are other women. Why? Because of abortion! According to Manes, it is only because abortion is legal that women are able to devote their energy to do things like go to school, work as an activist, be an athlete, or decide to be vegetarians (like Manes!). Women owe everything to abortion. Without the ability to kill our unborn children, women would be able to accomplish nothing. Girl power!

1. Abortion takes a life, but it’s a life worth sacrificing.

Salon blogger Mary Elizabeth Williams takes the number one spot on our list, with easily the most chilling statement. According to Williams, abortion is taking a life — but that’s OK because it is a life worth sacrificing. Williams claims that an unborn child is a life, just not one worth as much a mother’s feeling that a pregnancy is inconvenient. For Williams, some lives simply have more worth than others, with the “others” being disposable. It takes a truly depraved mind to argue that it’s acceptable to take a life merely because that person isn’t worthy of life.

Texas House Tentatively Passes Bill to Ban Late-Term Abortions After 20 Weeks

by Steven Ertelt | Austin, TX | LifeNews.com | http://www.lifenews.com/2013/07/09/texas-house-passes-bill-to-ban-late-term-abortions-after-20-weeks/

After a full day of debate and pro-life votes to defeat almost two dozen pro-abortion amendments to weaken the bill, Texas legislators successfully approved on second reading a bill that will ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Lawmakers voted 98-49 for the bill on second reading and a third reading vote is forthcoming, likely tomorrow, but the same margin is expected. The vote today for conditional approval is four more votes for the measure than the last time the House approved the bill before Wendy Davis’ infamous filibuster.

Five pro-life Democrats voted for HB2 including Guillen, Herrero, Martinez, Munoz, and Pickett while one Republican voted against it: Sarah Davis.

The bill would ban abortions after 20 weeks and hold abortion clinics accountable by making them meet basic health and safety standards that have closed facilities in other states that are unable to comply. The bill also requires all abortion clinics to meet the same health and safety regulations as an ambulatory surgical center, requires a doctor providing abortions to secure admitting privileges at a nearby hospital, and lastly, requires a doctor to personally administer the abortion-inducing drugs to the patient.

The last attempt to pass the bill was halted in the state Senate with a pro-abortion filibuster but state Sen. Wendy Davis says she will not filibuster the bill a second time. Today, she told CNN she thinks the bill will ultimately pass and be signed into law by pro-life Gov. Rick Perry.

“It will be very difficult because unfortunately the voices that have been here crying out against this bill are not going to be heard,” Davis told CNN in a brief interview. “But I don’t think it’s the end. It’s the beginning of a battle line.”

“That’s probably the case,” Davis said about not being able to filibuster the bill a second time.

Today saw a death threat issued to the Texas Lt. Governor and abortion activists screaming “F— the Church.” Texas Governor Rick Perry issued a call for a special session of the Texas legislature to pass the bill that a pro-abortion mob prevented the legislature from passing last week. “I am calling the Legislature back into session because too much important work remains undone for the people of Texas. Through their duly elected representatives, the citizens of our state have made crystal clear their priorities for our great state,” Perry said. “Texans value life and want to protect women and the unborn. Texans want a transportation system that keeps them moving. Texans want a court system that is fair and just. We will not allow the breakdown of decorum and decency to prevent us from doing what the people of this state hired us to do.” A recent national poll by The Polling Company found that, after being informed that there is scientific evidence that unborn children are capable of feeling pain at least by 20 weeks, 64% would support a law banning abortion after 20 weeks, unless the mother’s life was in danger.   Only 30% said they would oppose such a law. Polling from Texas also shows support for the legislation. The bill relies on the science of fetal pain to establish a Constitutional reason for Congress to ban abortions late in pregnancy. The science behind the concept of fetal pain is fully established and Dr. Steven Zielinski, an internal medicine physician from Oregon, is one of the leading researchers into it. He first published reports in the 1980s to validate research showing evidence for it. He has testified before Congress that an unborn child could feel pain at “eight-and-a-half weeks and possibly earlier” and that a baby before birth “under the right circumstances, is capable of crying.” He and his colleagues Dr. Vincent J. Collins and Thomas J. Marzen  were the top researchers to point to fetal pain decades ago. Collins, before his death, was Professor of Anesthesiology at Northwestern University and the University of Illinois and author of Principles of Anesthesiology, one of the leading medical texts on the control of pain. “The functioning neurological structures necessary to suffer pain are developed early in a child’s development in the womb,” they wrote. “Functioning neurological structures necessary for pain sensation are in place as early as 8 weeks, but certainly by 13 1/2 weeks of gestation. Sensory nerves, including nociceptors, reach the skin of the fetus before the 9th week of gestation. The first detectable brain activity occurs in the thalamus between the 8th and 10th weeks. The movement of electrical impulses through the neural fibers and spinal column takes place between 8 and 9 weeks gestation. By 13 1/2 weeks, the entire sensory nervous system functions as a whole in all parts of the body,” they continued. With Zielinski and his colleagues the first to provide the scientific basis for the concept of fetal pain, Dr. Kanwaljeet Anand of the University of Arkansas Medical Center has provided further research to substantiate their work. “The neural pathways are present for pain to be experienced quite early by unborn babies,” explains Steven Calvin, M.D., perinatologist, chair of the Program in Human Rights Medicine, University of Minnesota, where he teaches obstetrics. Dr. Colleen A. Malloy, Assistant Professor, Division of Neonatology at Northwestern University in her testimony before the House Judiciary Committee in May 2012 said, “[w]hen we speak of infants at 22 weeks LMP [Note: this is 20 weeks post fertilization], for example, we no longer have to rely solely on inferences or ultrasound imagery, because such premature patients are kicking, moving, reacting, and developing right before our eyes in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.” “In today’s medical arena, we resuscitate patients at this age and are able to witness their ex-utero growth and development. Medical advancement and technology have enabled us to improve our ability to care for these infants…In fact, standard of care for neonatal intensive care units requires attention to and treatment of neonatal pain,” Dr. Malloy testified. She continued, “[t]hus, the difference between fetal and neonatal pain is simply the locale in which the pain occurs. The receiver’s experience of the pain is the same. I could never imagine subjecting my tiny patients to horrific procedures such as those that involve limb detachment or cardiac injection.” This week, a pro-abortion activist had to be removed from a hearing and another read a disgusting poem to legislators equating her vagina to a gun. The protesters at the Texas capitol have exploited children by making them hold signs supporting their protest against a ban on late-term abortions. Today the Internet is abuzz with shock and disgust over another sign, along with a video showing abortion activists chanting Hail Satan.

Meanwhile, a little girl is shown in a picture along with pro-abortion protestors holding a sign saying, “If I wanted the government in my womb, I’d f— a senator.”
