This name is getting a little too familiar – and Americans should be getting very angry. Amid the blockbuster report by The Daily Caller that a Chinese firm had penetrated Hillary Clinton’s private email server “throughout” her time as secretary of state, one FBI figure is mentioned prominently.

And it’s the same agent who’s appeared at almost every sordid turn in the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s handling of the Clinton email investigation and the  trumped up “collusion” case against President Donald Trump – the now-fired FBI Agent Peter Strzok.

According to The Daily Caller, Strzok, who was a one of the FBI’s top counterintelligence agents,  was briefed by investigators with the Intelligence Community Department of Inspector General (ICIG) about the possibility that Clinton’s email server had been compromised by a foreign intelligence service.

The meeting took place sometime after the ICIG had discovered an “anomaly” on Clinton’s server that indicated information that was placed on it was being surreptitiously copied by another entity. That discovery was made “pretty early in 2015,” The Daily Caller reported.

The Daily Caller quoted a former intelligence official explaining the problem:

“When [the ICIG] did a very deep dive, they found in the actual metadata — the data which is at the header and footer of all the emails — that a copy, a ‘courtesy copy,’ was being sent to a third party and that third party was a known Chinese public company that was involved in collecting intelligence for China.”

That’s pretty serious stuff, considering Clinton was secretary of state – the top diplomat in the United States government. If emails she was writing were being copied – in real time – to a hostile foreign power like China, Americans would expect the FBI to take some sort of notice.

But Peter Strzok, under questioning by Rep. Louis Gohmert in July, said he didn’t even remember the conversation. In response to Gohmert, a Texas Republican, Strzok acknowledged speaking the ICIG investigator Frank Rucker but, unbelievably, said he didn’t remember what they’d talked about.

(Watch the CSPAN clip of the exchange here. Strzok’s smirk is as infuriating as his statements are, literally, incredible.)

“I remember meeting Mr. Rucker on either one or two occasions,” Strzok said. “I do not recall the specific content or discussions.”

If the “content” of the conversation was China spying on Hillary Clinton, that’s simply not possible.

In an editorial published Tuesday, the Investors Business Daily summed it up nicely:

“It seems unlikely that the FBI’s top counterintelligence official — who was leading the investigation into Clinton’s emails — wouldn’t remember being told that the Chinese had unfettered access to those emails while she was secretary of State.

“So, either Strzok is lying or the ICIG officials are. Our money is on Strzok.”

That’s as safe a bet as anyone ever made.

There are many, many figures in the Clinton email scandal that have disgraced themselves – not least the former secretary of state herself, President Barack Obama, who appointed her, and the political party and mainstream media that tried to make this woman the president of the United States.

But for sheer nuts-and-bolts deception, the FBI “counterintelligence agent” who clearly turned a blind eye to information that his favored candidate had been compromised by an intelligence operation from China, then had the effrontery to tell a United States congressman that he couldn’t remember the conversation is in a class by himself.

That isn’t just negligence, and it isn’t just a partisan passion to use the powers of the FBI to swing the outcome of a presidential election. It amounts to Strzok being a traitor to his duty to the bureau, and the Americans it’s supposed to serve.

Democrat voters outside Washington – infected by a bizarre mix of blind range at their loss in 2016 and what can only be described as staggering stupidity – could be forgiven for supporting obviously demented nutcases like Maxine Waters or doddering statists like Nancy Pelosi.

But now, just in time for the midterm elections, they’re being faced with evidence that not only did the Democrat Party’s 2016 presidential nominee put national security at risk for the entire time she was secretary of state, but minions in the FBI like the increasingly loathsome Peter Strzok have been helping her conceal it for their own ends.

Strzok worked directly for FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. McCabe worked directly for former FBI Director James Comey. And it was James Comey who reacted to his own firing by President Donald Trump by leaking information that led directly to the hiring of Robert Mueller as special counsel investigating Trump campaign’s alleged collusion with Russia.

Those connections aren’t hard to make. Maybe someone in the Justice Department or the mainstream media might be able to connect the dots at some point and the country can realize what a bill of goods it’s been sold with the “Russian collusion” story.

Most Americans busy living their own productive lives might have thought the name “Strzok” was fading into the background by now. But it’s just getting familiar again – and it’s getting beyond infuriating.

Commentary by Ann Coulter

Apart from building the wall, President Trump’s most important act as president so far was his attack on internet censorship this week.

The left controls all the cultural institutions — the establishment media, corporate America, Hollywood, Silicon Valley, public schools and universities. The only breach in their total dominion of the flow of information is the internet. So now they’re fixated like a laser beam on private citizens yammering to one another online.

Why can’t people accept the officially certified news as delivered by respected truth-tellers like Brian Williams, CNN and NBC — the network that censored Juanita Broaddrick and illegally leaked the “Access Hollywood” tape?

Liberals assessed the situation and correctly concluded: People are learning facts on the internet that we’ve been withholding from them, so now they don’t agree with us. We have to stop this.

The media relentlessly lied to the public about Hillary’s health, denouncing conservatives as “conspiracy theorists” for mentioning it. Then an alert citizen with an iPhone captured Hillary having to be carried to her car at the 9/11 memorial service in 2016.

Mainstream media outlets painted a cherubic picture of Michael Brown after he was fatally shot by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. He was a “gentle giant,” gunned down like a dog as he plaintively cried, “Hands up! Don’t shoot!”

HEY! Wait a second! How did that video get out of Brown manhandling a tiny Indian man while robbing a convenience store? That should have been suppressed like the Broaddrick interview!

Would we ever have known about Monica Lewinsky, but for the Drudge Report publishing the blockbuster story that Newsweek had killed?

Currently, the establishment media are in a rage that the public has found out about the modern genocide being waged against white South African farmers. ( https://whatdidyousay.org/2016/09/28/most-important-article-written-in-2016-when-america-becomes-south-africa/ (https://whatdidyousay.org/2018/07/23/dear-cnn-theres-a-white-genocide-going-on-in-south-africa-is-that-news/)

I can’t even blame them. If I were advising liberals, I’d say: You’ve got only one small breach in the wall of sound; you’ve got to ban conservative speech on the internet.

It’s not as if the left has ever shown any particular commitment to free speech. They love “transgressive” ideas and “controversial” speech — but only when they’re in the minority. As soon as they get control, no more free speech for you! Just look at the universities.

You might think that the exact same people wailing about Trump attacking the “free press” (fake news) would be too embarrassed to use their next breath to demand censorship on the internet. But that’s exactly what they’re doing.

On Sunday night, MSNBC host Kasie Hunt spent her entire interview with Facebook’s former chief information security officer Alex Stamos, demanding that Facebook go pedal-to-the-metal on censoring conservatives. It was left to defender of the reich Stamos to mumble something about not banning speech based on “content.”

Indignant that Alex Jones was allowed to “foment dissent on controversial topics online,” Kasie asked, “Did Facebook react too slowly to the Alex Jones issue? … Does Facebook have a responsibility to take on figures like this?”

Kasie then quoted Stamos back to himself, citing a memo in which he’d written: “We need to be willing to pick sides when there are clear moral or humanitarian issues.”

One “clear,” “moral,” “humanitarian issue” for Facebook — which according to Kasie isn’t doing enough censoring — is to prevent any criticism of caterwauling, protesting illegal aliens. (That sentence just violated Facebook’s Community Standards.)

Last May, I was notified by Facebook’s Julia Smekalina that “one of your posts was reported and found to be in violation of our Community Standards.”

Little Nazi block watchers are constantly reporting conservatives. They can’t just stop following people they don’t like. Liberals used to mock fundamentalist Christians, claiming they feared that someone, somewhere, may be happy. Now they’re the ones haunted by the fear that someone, somewhere, may disagree with them.

The offending post was from January, months earlier, when I retweeted John Binder’s story on Breitbart News headlined: “Illegal aliens who say they ‘deserve’ amnesty tell pro-amnesty Sen. Thom Tillis: ‘Fck this conservative! Fck this person!’”

Illegals screaming obscenities at a U.S. senator does not offend Facebook community standards. It was the comment added to the story by the pro-American immigration website, Vdare: “It would be so easy to just deport these parasites @realDonaldTrump. They hate you, they hate your supporters, they hate your party, they hate our country. Why not just enforce the law and send them home?”

(The reason I’m talking about “tweets” when it was Facebook that censored me is that I detest Facebook, so the only “posts” of mine that ever showed up there were my tweets, which used to transfer automatically. Now they don’t, so I’ll never go to Facebook again.)

Here is my full and complete exchange with Smekalina, defender of “Community Standards,” illustrating what a complete joy using Facebook is.

From: Ann Coulter:

Okay, you’ll have to tell me how to delete. nothing I click on offers the option of deleting. I wish you’d spend more time making facebook user friendly. Also, can you please tell me how it violates community standards to support enforcing the law? is the word “parasites” forbidden?

From: Julia Smekalina:

… yes, comparing immigrants to parasites is the specific portion in violation of our policies.

From: Ann Coulter:

It’s obviously NOT about “immigrants.” it’s about illegal immigrants, i.e. law breakers. is it a violation to call lawbreakers “parasites”?

I never heard from Julia again, but I gather she helpfully deleted the post for me. At the risk of bringing MSNBC’s hammer down on Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, the tweet’s still available there.

Here’s another taste of the ‘fundamental change’ President what’s-his-name had promised. Where are all those ‘Separation of Church and State’ radicals now? In Portland — of course it would be Portland — there is a new teacher’s handbook. It’s chock-full of inspiring quotes, and important dates like holidays (Except Thanksgiving. That’s now called ‘National Day of Mourning’), anniversaries of protests, and quotes from such wonderful and inspiring people as Che Guevara or founders of the Black Panthers?

Objection to the ideas or indoctrination of ’See You at The Pole’ events are so yesterday. Now they WANT indoctrination and activism. It just has to be the ‘right kind’ of indoctrination. So long as the thing they’re being indoctrinated by is not aligned with traditional Western values or culture, it is A-OK to this crowd.

They published a “plan book for social justice teachers”. Because the most important thing for kids to learn is NOT math, science, or a solid grasp of language skills. The most important thing is raising up a generation of rabid activists.

Here is how the book was introduced on another activist site, the Education for Liberation Network:

Planning to Change the World—an annual lesson plan book for social justice teachers that features birthdays and anniversaries from the history of the struggle for justice, references to resources to teach about those dates, inspirational quotes, essential questions and much more.

They were the organization who produced the book and described themselves this way.

Picking one city at random — Baltimore — how well are the students doing, that teachers think they can divert attention from more traditional studies?

In fourth- and eighth-grade reading, only 13 percent of city students are considered proficient or advanced. In fourth-grade math, 14 percent were proficient and in eighth-grade math 11 percent met the mark, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, a federally mandated test from the U.S. Department of Education. — Baltimore Sun, April 10, 2018

Here’s the objective of the program:

Can the content REALLY be that bad?

It tells you that Wednesday August 1 is the birthday of the founder of PETA, that the British slaughtered people in India on April 13, when Islam’s Eid formally begins (sunset on 8/20), the 60th anniversary of the closure of Little Rock schools, the 30th Anniversary of the CANADIAN apology for their Japanese Internment. And, naturally, the celebrate the 30th anniversary of Palestine declaring independence. (November 15) They forgot to mention the Charter of Hamas pledging the annihilation of the Jews, or that they have affirmed this goal has not changed.

It’s almost like they’re conditioning people to be perpetually angry and aggrieved. Because life never goes badly for people with a perpetual chip on their shoulder, right?

Are there some of the inspiring quotes by someone like FDR, Helen Keller, Frederick Douglas or Henry David Thoreau to inspire students to strive for greatness? Not exactly. They’re working from a different list of inspirational figures.

Yikes.

Who else are they celebrating?

Noam Chomsky… Black Panthers founders… trans activists… and this guy, who is justifying turning schools into indoctrination camps:

Is this the kind of ‘education’ that will give graduating students a level playing field, and an even shot at getting into good careers? Or are they more interested in churning out protesters and aggrieved activists?

Hat tip to GP, who seem to be the first ones to spot this story and make it public.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., revealed on Wednesday that President Donald Trump called him after the senator’s tearful tribute speech to the late Sen. John McCain, telling him, “you did right by your friend.”

During an appearance on CNN, anchor Dana Bash asked Graham how he can square his friendship with McCain to being willing to “carry the water” for Trump.

“It’s pretty simple, if you knew anything about me. I want to be relevant,” Graham responded. “I want to make sure this president, Donald Trump, who I didn’t vote for and ran against, is successful.”

He added, “I regret the relationship between the two. John is my dearest friend in the world, and I am going to try to help President Trump, and I will. I think ‘Country First’ means that.”

The South Carolinian went on to say that when Trump speaks poorly of McCain, “it pisses me off.”

“He called yesterday after my speech, and he couldn’t have been nicer,” Graham recounted. “He said, ‘That was very sad. I just want to let you know you did right by your friend.’”

“To those who say the only way you can honor John McCain is to fight Donald Trump and try to kick him out of office, I don’t agree,” the senator said.

Graham and Bash talked about Graham’s emotional tribute from the Senate floor during which he said, “It is going to be a lonely journey for me for a while. I am going to need your help, and the void to be filled by John’s passing is more than I can fill.”

“What hit me was the desk,” he recalled to Bash. “Funerals are for a reason. They’re for the living.”

“They give us a chance to remember what we’ve lost and how we can cope with it. It hit me really hard when I saw the cloth on the desk, because I’ve sat next to that desk by him for years talking about everything under the sun, and that will be an empty desk. My life has changed like everybody who knew John.”

Graham told NBC’s “Today” on Tuesday that Trump had gotten to the right place in terms of honoring McCain’s service to the country while acknowledging the two men often didn’t see eye-to-eye.

“John Kelly, (the White House) chief of staff has been terrific,” the lawmaker said. “The president told Gen. Kelly whatever they need, they get,” referring to the McCain family.

CNN reported that besides his Senate tribute speech, Graham will read a scripture at McCain’s memorial service at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., on Saturday and speak at his burial service on Sunday at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

“So the opportunity [is increasing] to let people come into a place of dignity and equality in America, not based on skin color, not based on sexuality,” Alveda King says of the 55th anniversary of her uncle’s “I Have a Dream” speech at the Lincoln Memorial. (Photo: Brian Frank/Reuters/Newscom)

Martin Luther King Jr.’s niece says her uncle’s vision in his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech is being brought to fruition today.

“Are we living in a perfect society today? No, but the dream is being realized 55 years later,” pro-life activist Alveda King told The Daily Signal in an interview Monday ahead of the 55th anniversary Tuesday of King’s famous speech.

King, who directs the Civil Rights for the Unborn program for the organization Priests for Life, said of her uncle’s oratory:

He said ‘Let freedom ring’ and he named all of the different places, including the hamlets, the townships, and he says ‘from the hilltops’ [and] I think of Stone Mountain … in Georgia.

This year, 55 years later, I was at Stone Mountain for a OneRace rally that was led by millennials, and so prophetically, many of the things that Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed 55 years ago are being revisited today.

MLK delivered the speech during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on Aug. 28, 1963, about five years before his assassination in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1968. It was prophetic, Alveda King said, because her uncle’s vision for a more unified and equal America has been coming true.

“President Trump himself has said we all believe the same,” King, 67, said, adding:

I voted for President Trump … for many reasons, but one of the reasons was that when he was asked about race … his answer—and this was as a candidate, but he has echoed it and said it over and over and repeated it—he says, ‘We all believe the same, [it] doesn’t matter what color our skin is … everybody … wants somewhere safe to live, food to eat, opportunity to work and produce, opportunity to enjoy their families.’

King noted that her uncle’s speech, which he made on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, asserted that “America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked ‘insufficient funds.’”

She said she is encouraged by how today’s economic environment—with black and Hispanic unemployment at historic lows—is correcting that insufficiency.

“The unemployment rates are lower, the employment rates are higher in the job market,” she said. “We have 6.5 million jobs at least, here in America. The technical, the skilled positions where there are not enough people who are … trained with those skills to step into those jobs.”

The country still has room to improve, King told The Daily Signal, and one opportunity is through the Trump administration’s work to advance prison reform:

We are looking at … prison reform and we are beginning to see that we need jubilee to let those prisoners out and to put them back into society and perhaps into some of those jobs with the proper skills, those who did not commit violent crimes.

The time is ripe, she said, for America to embrace the values that her uncle fought and prayed for.

“So the opportunity [is increasing] to let people come into a place of dignity and equality in America, not based on skin color, not based on sexuality, but the fact that, as human beings, we were created and desired with a genuine purpose. And that’s by God, and so our mantra, our motto [is] one nation under God, in God we trust,” King said.

Let me preface this entire thing with two notes: First, I am an avid video game player. I’ve been playing video games since I was six, and I’ve easily played thousands of hours worth of video games. Second, I am a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment. Few things are more fundamentally American than the right to keep and bear arms. In short, I love my constitution and I love my video games.

Unfortunately, the two of them became intertwined in the worst possible way on Sunday in Jacksonville, Florida, when 24-year-old David Katz shot up a Madden football game tournament and killed two people before turning the gun on himself.

To the utter surprise of absolutely nobody, this tragic event somehow became a political issue instead of an indictment against the evil humans are capable of.

There were those who predictably jumped on the anti-Second Amendment train, calling for the logistically impossible task of banning guns. In turn, that triggered a defense mechanism from the other side who immediately wanted to blame violent games.

Both fringes of the spectrum are wrong on this matter.

As has been noted ad nauseam, you can’t regulate the evil that lurks in people’s hearts. Taking away freedoms has never been the answer to any question worth asking.

Equally as obnoxious are people who want to scapegoat violent video games. Madden is a football video game, which is a fairly far cry from the likes of “Grand Theft Auto,” and is rated “E” for “Everyone” by the ESRB.

Considering it’s impossible to regulate evil intent, let me posit something that’s actually worth regulating since the mainstream media is too preoccupied with wanting to ban guns or violent media.

As competitive video gaming, or “eSports,” continues to grow, alongside the proliferation of streaming platforms like Twitch, which creates unprecedented access, fame and money to gamers, perhaps it’s worth looking into whether or not that entire scene needs to be regulated and looked into.

Mental welfare checks, psyche evaluations, limits on practice time and meaningful punishments for toxicity are all things that professional or competitive video gamers need at this point.

Guns are already regulated through permits and licenses. Video games themselves are regulated by the ESRB and sometimes the government.

I have never been a “professional gamer,” but I know the scene well. I have close friends who would consider themselves pros or at least Twitch gamers. I’ve dabbled in competitive video game tournaments here and there.

I can say, unequivocally, that the competitive video game scene is insanely toxic. It’s one of the primary reasons I stick to single-player video games. I’d rather play “Zelda” and have some music playing in the background than play “Call of Duty” with a prepubescent punk yelling racial obscenities at me.

Video gamers as a whole are probably not the most well-adjusted people. Thrusting the most avid of players (in other words, people who likely have the worst work-life balance) into prominent public spotlights is unlikely to lead to anything good.

Going back to violent games, there have been no conclusive studies correlating violent games to aggressive actions. You know what types of video games do trigger aggressive actions? Competitive ones.

The American Psychological Association published a study that found gamers were more likely to have aggressive responses to a competitive video game than a violent one.

It makes sense. As history has proven, whether it’s steroids in baseball or any number of New England Patriots-related scandals, competition often brings out the very worst in people. Bringing the worst out of people who aren’t well-adjusted is a recipe for disaster.

Toxicity within gaming culture is hardly a novel problem. Companies like Blizzard and Riot Games have been trying to regulate the overwhelming toxicity in popular competitive games like “Overwatch” and “League of Legends,” respectively, for a while now. It’s mostly been lip service with a couple of band-aids thrown in. Perhaps more stringent and significant change can come from them now.

If there’s one positive thing to emerge from the horrible tragedy in Jacksonville, perhaps it’ll be an honest and introspective look from my fellow gamers. We can, should and, apparently, need to be better.

If I could have two television shows and two movies on a desert island, they’d be “The Office,” (the American version) “Breaking Bad,” “The Dark Knight,” and “Die Hard.” I love sports, video games, comics, movies and television. And I guess my job, too.

Democrats with an eye on winning the midterm elections are already planning a multi-pronged assault aimed at taking down the Trump administration with a strategy of offensive techniques that seek to create chaos. Democrats likely believe going on the offensive by creating so many crises they will destabilize the Trump administration. And with the aim of returning Washington to the arrogant mess it was during the Barack Obama presidency, they are loaded for bear.

According to Axios, Republicans on Capitol Hill are preparing for a pitched battle with Democrats if the current opposition party wins the majority in November and implements a a laundry list of crises they’re just waiting to dump on Republicans, turning “the Trump White House into a 24/7 legal defense operation.”

“Axios has obtained a spreadsheet that’s circulated through Republican circles on and off Capitol Hill — including at least one leadership office — that meticulously previews the investigations Democrats will likely launch if they flip the House,” the website reported.

That list includes:

  • “President Trump’s tax returns; Trump family businesses — and whether they comply with the Constitution’s emoluments clause, including the Chinese trademark grant to the Trump Organization; Trump’s dealings with Russia, including the president’s preparation for his meeting with Vladimir Putin; The payment to Stephanie Clifford — a.k.a. Stormy Daniels;
  • “James Comey’s firing; Trump’s firing of U.S. attorneys; Trump’s proposed transgender ban for the military; Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin’s business dealings; White House staff’s personal email use; Cabinet secretary travel, office expenses, and other misused perks;
  • “Discussion of classified information at Mar-a-Lago; Jared Kushner’s ethics law compliance; Dismissal of members of the EPA board of scientific counselors; The “travel ban”; Family separation policy; Hurricane response in Puerto Rico; Election security and hacking attempts; White House security clearances.”
  • The list also includes more than 100 formal requests for members of the administration to go before committee staff in hearings to obtain sworn testimony, to seize communication relating to policies and personnel decisions deemed controversial, as well as threats of subpoenas.

As these requests span nearly every committee, the result would be a near gridlock of the Trump administration and would be considered a great threat to the Trump presidency. Many of the items on the current list are already floating around Capitol Hill, but Republicans have blocked requests for investigation. The fear is if Democrats take control of the House, the GOP will lose the power to control and block investigative calls in the future. And if special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation looks bad now, it might look like nothing compared to what a Democrat majority could do in the House.

The Hill reports: “Republican lawmakers have sought to downplay Democrats’ chances of taking the House in the upcoming elections, claiming reports of a ‘blue wave’ are overblown.”

However, Axios also reports that unnamed lawyers “close to the White House” have said the administration isn’t fully prepared for the Democrat offensive that’s going to break if the midterms hand control of the House or Senate — or both — to Democrats. Clearly, the list of chaos provides ample grounds for Republicans to worry.

The idea of the Trump administration being mired in an even more aggressive swamp in its second two years as it was in the first does not bode well for an agenda aimed at continuing the economic boom fostered by Trump’s deregulation strategies or rebalancing American trade relations with its international partners.

Perhaps they wouldn’t have to worry quite so much if they had their own “Hell List” of inquiry on matters such as the Hillary email investigation, Strzok-Page texts, possible perjury by James Comey and more. What has come out so far should have Republicans in Congress on the warpath, but virtually nothing is changing.

The American people might possibly elect, in a landslide, a party they thought was really serious about draining that Washington swamp.

You all need to know that the CA Legislative Year Closed on Friday.  All the Representatives went home exhausted and the damage was done.
So, what did they accomplish during this high-pressure year in Sacramento?

This is an update today on the progressive Democrats’ continued destruction of California.  The ones who would not endorse Dianne Feinstein, because she is not sufficiently Socialist extreme.
By the way, we are already deemed the worst state for businesses.
Here are some of the highlights of this session:
  • Passed Cap-n-Trade Tax which will increase gas 0.63 to 0.93 cents a gallon change and the taxes that go with it. So do the math projection … (0.12 + 0.63 = 075/gallon + current $3.10/gallon = $3.85/gallon).
  • Proposed increase on a new tax.  Every residence will pay for tap water!
  • A $3.46B parks bond to pay for parks in “disadvantaged communities”.  The debt service alone will be over $200 million a year. The good news is some money goes to help fix the Salton Sea which should have always been a State responsibility!
  • Law to release any lifer (murder, rape, child molestation, etc.) who is 60 years old and has already spent 25 years in prison! Charles Manson would have qualified if he just waited a few months before dying; and the Melendez brothers, who murdered their parents could be released in about 12 years? Victims?  What victims?
  • A new $50 charge on all residents living in a mobile home parks to address “living condition enforcement” in those parks? What the hell does that mean?  As if having to live in a mobile home park isn’t bad enough? Regressive tax on the poor?
  • We picked an official dinosaur for the State of California!  Really?
  • Requires Tesla to either unionize with the United Auto Workers Union, or forfeit State incentives to buy their electric cars! Maybe political blackmail doesn’t count as breaking any law.  Unions are loving it. “Watch out solar companies.  They may be coming after you next!”  Hang tight Elon!
  • Reduce from a felony to a misdemeanor the purposeful intent to transmit the AIDS virus to an unknowing partner.
  • Give preferential treatment to prisoners convicted of serious crimes, who are less than 25 years old. Why? Because their brains are not mature enough to understand right from wrong. Whaaat?
  • A bill to require our true sex be omitted from driver’s licenses? Whaaat?
  • Free legal services for illegal immigrants.  Of course!
  • Establish safe “injection zones” … run by a new government bureaucracy … to oversee people injecting heroin!

Yep, it all passed!

You may consider sharing this so that ALL Californians can be proud of our elected officials.

PLEASE. NO PUSHING AND SHOVING AS YOU FLEE THE STATE!!!!!. Let’s start the state break-up process NOW!

San Francisco, California is not the city portrayed on the television show Full House.  It is a city of debauchery, sodomy and crap, literally.  Now, because the city has decriminalized public urination and defecation, they are spending $1 million to clean it up by paying a limited amount of workers $185,000 per year to clean up poop.

We previously reported that the city was receiving some 20,000 complaints about feces in public. They even lost a major medical convention over the issue.

Then the mayor came out with a brilliant method of dealing with it.

London Breed is the newly elected Mayor of San Francisco and though she knows the problem exists, she has a very odd way of trying to deal with it. Her plan?  Ask the city’s estimated 7,500 vagrants to kindly stop with all the street-squatting and clean up after themselves.

As was reported earlier:

When pressed about whether her plan calls for harsher penalties against those who litter or defecate on city streets, Breed said “I didn’t express anything about a penalty.”  Instead, the mayor said she has encouraged nonprofits “to talk to their clients, who, unfortunately, were mostly responsible for the conditions of our streets.NBC Bay Area

“I work hard to make sure your programs are funded for the purposes of trying to get these individuals help, and what I am asking you to do is work with your clients and ask them to at least have respect for the community — at least, clean up after themselves and show respect to one another and people in the neighborhood,” Breed told NBC, referencing her conversations with nonprofit groups aimed at serving the homeless.

Now, it looks like instead of those pooping in the streets cleaning up their own mess, taxpayers will pay to clean up the crap to the tune of $185,000 per worker.

Breed has announced the “poop patrol” for San Francisco.  Now, this should come as no surprise to a city that houses open sodomites who engage their bodies constantly with human waste, but for some of us, not only is the problem of human feces on the streets an issue, but so is robbing taxpayers of hundreds of thousands of dollars to clean it up rather than dealing with those who do it.

“We’re spending a lot of money to address this problem,” Breed said.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports:

San Francisco Public Works has a $72.5 million-a-year street cleaning budget — including spending $12 million a year on what essentially have become housekeeping services for homeless encampments.

The costs include;

  • $2.8 million for a Hot Spots crew to wash down the camps and remove any biohazards,
  • $2.3 million for street steam cleaners,
  • $3.1 million for the Pit Stop portable toilets,
  • plus the new $830,977-a-year Poop Patrol to actively hunt down and clean up human waste.

(By the way, the poop patrolers earn $71,760 a year, which swells to $184,678 with mandated benefits.)

Wouldn’t it just be cheaper and cleaner to rent port-a-johns?  Maybe that’s me, but honestly one would think people would have enough decency to find a public restroom and relieve themselves, but not in the city of Sodom.

On top of that, the San Francisco Chronicle adds:

At the same time, the Department of Public Health has an additional $700,000 set aside for a 10-member, needle cleanup squad, complete with it’s [sic] own minivan. The $19-an-hour needle cleanup jobs were approved as part of the latest budget crafted largely by former Mayor Mark Farrell.

Again, if that is a public health hazard, why are people not being held accountable?  Perhaps it’s due to the entire wickedness of the city?  People are just fine with lawlessness and tyranny in their town and now it’s being turned into a literal dung pile.

“It was just getting a lot of media attention, which almost kind of made me uncomfortable because it almost became kind of a public spectacle rather than [being about] finding her,” student Iris Ho says about Mollie Tibbetts’ disappearance. (Photo: Rachel del Guidice)

IOWA CITY, IOWA—For students who attend the University of Iowa, the beginning of the school year brought the tragic news of their classmate Mollie Tibbetts’ death.

Tibbetts’ body was found Tuesday in a corn field in Poweshiek County, Iowa.

Tibbetts, a 20-year-old psychology major who would have begun her junior year this fall, was last seen July 18 jogging in Brooklyn, Iowa, her hometown.

The Daily Signal went to the University of Iowa to speak with students there.

  1. ‘It Can Definitely Happen Again and That’s the Scary Part’

Jordan Gringer (Photo: Rachel del Guidice)

Jordan Gringer, 22, a senior at the University of Iowa, said Tibbetts’ death could have been prevented.

Police announced Tuesday that Cristhian Bahena Rivera, 24, was charged with first-degree murder in the Tibbetts case. Although Rivera’s lawyer claims he was in the United States legally, Rivera is “an illegal alien from Mexico,” said Shawn Neudauer, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman for Iowa.

“It really goes back to enforcing the immigration laws,” Gringer told The Daily Signal. “Making sure that those who shouldn’t be here, aren’t here. It’s really that simple. The fact that some people are even making this a political issue quite frankly is concerning because it shouldn’t be.”

Enforcing the law is not politics, Gringer said, but “common sense.”

“It’s just safety,” Gringer said. “It’s just common sense that those who shouldn’t be here, shouldn’t be here. Especially those who are criminals. All of this easily could have been prevented if our immigration laws were enforced.”

The media, Gringer said, should “not ignore the story, [as] some outlets are trying to do.”

The Iowa City native said he is concerned that a similar situation could be repeated.

“It absolutely can happen again,” said Gringer. “Basically anywhere. As long as we have our immigration laws that aren’t being enforced and there are people … I mean this guy was apparently in the state for four to seven years and nobody really knew. So yeah, it can definitely happen again and that’s the scary part.”

  1. ‘Always Watch Your Surroundings, Make Sure That You Have Each Others’ Back’

Tianna Torrejon (Photo: Rachel del Guidice)

Tianna Torrejon, a sophomore, said Rivera’s employers should have been more careful about checking his legal status.

Yarrabee Farms, which employed Rivera, “clarified Tuesday afternoon that the farm did not use a federal E-Verify check on suspect Cristhian Rivera,” Fox News reported. E-Verify is a system that allows employers to electronically check the immigration status of workers.

“I think everyone should be accounted for—we have to do our double check, even if he had a background check, make sure he goes through extensive checks,” she said.

The 18-year-old said Tibbetts’ death “is affecting the student body hugely.” She added:

I guess it just means we need to take more precautions about what is going on in the world and always watch your surroundings, make sure that you have each others’ back.

I think Mollie, just from seeing her on social media … always make new friends, smile at people, give them a pat on the back if anything, make sure that their day is OK, and always be there for them.

You don’t know what they are going through.

  1. ‘An Issue With How Men in Our Country Can Treat Women’

Andrew DeGaetano (Photo: Rachel del Guidice)

Andrew DeGaetano, a senior, said Tibbetts’ alleged murder’s legal status was irrelevant.

“Personally, I don’t believe that that has any relevance to the fact that she was attacked by this man,” DeGaetano said. “I think it’s more of an issue with how men in our country can treat women.”

Asked about the E-Verify status not being checked by Rivera’s employer, the 21-year-old said that there is room to reform immigration law to prevent similar tragedies.

“I guess overall they should streamline the process for people coming into country legally,” he said.

  1. ‘People Grew Numb … Because of How Often It Was Being Shown on the Media’

Iris Ho (Photo: Rachel del Guidice)

Iris Ho, a sophomore, said she was particularly concerned with how Tibbetts’ situation was sensationalized.

“My first reaction was that I was more worried than anything,” Ho said. “When it first came out before her death, it was just kind of scary that something like that was happening.”

“It was just getting a lot of media attention, which almost kind of made me uncomfortable because it almost became kind of a public spectacle rather than [being about] finding her,” she added.

“After awhile it was becoming something that people grew numb to because of how often it was being shown on the media.”

  1. ‘When I Found Out That It Was an Undocumented Person [I Knew] That the Right Wing Was Going to Pick It Up’

Eddie Garcia, a sophomore, said, “We have to teach men, when a woman says no, we have to respect them.” Eddie Garcia (Photo: Rachel del Guidice)

“We have to understand their body language and when they’re uncomfortable. We just have to teach men that it’s not OK, not everything is yours. It’s OK to be rejected. And I just feel like we’re not teaching men enough at all about that.”

Initially, when he heard about Tibbetts’ death, Garcia said he was “a little shocked at first and worried for myself, considering I’m of Hispanic descent.”

“I know that times are politically charged right now, especially with the Trump administration first tweeting about that,” Garcia added. “So I was a little shocked at first because I know they have huge policies on immigration and whatnot, so I knew absolutely when I found out that it was an undocumented person that the right wing was going to pick it up, as well as the left wing, of course, but I just knew it was going to go into chaos.”

He said Tibbetts’ murder is a reminder for people to be aware and concerned for those around them.

“I just want everyone to know, please, watch out for your friends, be more careful with them, and just tell everyone before you leave, ‘Have a good one, be safe,’—you never know if you’ll see that person again.”

  1. ‘It’s Kind of Sad to Say, but Never Go Anywhere Alone’

Katie Peck (Photo: Rachel del Guidice)

Katie Peck, a freshman, said Tibbetts’ death has prompted her to give more attention to her personal safety on campus and elsewhere.

“It’s kind of sad to say, but never go anywhere alone—maybe go to the gym instead of running by yourself,” Peck said.

“It definitely made me more aware of who exactly is around me at all times, especially when walking to the bus at night,” she said.

The #WalkAway Campaign Facebook group had gathered more than 172,000 members as of Aug. 22. (Photo: Mark Makela/Reuters/Newscom)

Two thousand years ago, St. Paul found himself blinded by a bright light on the road to Damascus. The dramatic experience led him to stop persecuting his opponents and to take up new beliefs.

Today, many former leftists are taking their first steps on their own road to Damascus, and the right is not doing nearly enough to capitalize on this unprecedented mass exit from the left.

It all began just a few short weeks ago when gay New York hairdresser Brandon Straka posted a hard-hitting video explaining why he is no longer a Democrat or a liberal. Since then, his #WalkAway Campaign Facebook group has attracted more than 172,000 members. A multitude of videos from other WalkAways have been posted online.

CLICK ON IMAGE BELOW TO GO TO WEB SITE:

Make no mistake, the left has been greatly rattled by all this. The left’s treatment of the #WalkAway Campaign mirrors the way it reacted to the Tea Party movement. First, it ignored it, hoping it would go away. Then it moved on to minimizing and attempting ridicule, which it has done with #WalkAway. Steven Colbert and others claimed that the #WalkAway Campaign is just run by Russian bots.

Having seen that fail, the next step was to try to co-opt it with its own movement.

Bill Scher wrote a piece in Politico inviting Republicans to become Democrats. The suggestion is that Never Trumpers should walk away from the GOP, get themselves elected as delegates to the 2020 Democratic National Convention, and thereby prevent the Democratic Party from going full-blown socialist.

Nearly every WalkAway has a unique reason for leaving the Democratic Party. Some of the most common reasons I’ve encountered are:

  • The Democrat Party rejects Christian values.
  • Liberal rhetoric on helping the poor does not match up with reality. For instance, Democrat-run Los Angeles now has 55,000 homeless people living on the streets.
  • The left frequently denounces the armed services, law enforcement, and the American flag. Many military veterans are outraged by this.

There are countless others. But the wellspring of the #WalkAway movement has less to do with policy than with the realization that Democrats and the left invariably use despicable methods to achieve their goals, and without remorse. To the left, winning is all that matters.

Consider these words from one WalkAway, Rebecca Meli, who posted on Facebook:

The left only cares about pitting us against each other to keep control and keeping people dependent on them. … This movement has gone right to my core. To have the privilege of watching people think for themselves and recognize the deceitful practices of the left and the manipulation of minorities has been like an awakening.

Another WalkAway, Amanda Velásquez, wrote:

I am tired of the narrative, tired of people who don’t let you speak even if you have proof of what you are talking about, they attack you and label you as racist, closed-minded, and so on.

Many WalkAways have said it was easier to come out as gay than to come out as a conservative or libertarian. Many have even lost friends and been ostracized by family members because they decided to leave the Democrat Party.

One man, Vlad, who grew up in communist Poland, posted a YouTube video in which he compared the methods of today’s American left to the old communist government in his home country.

This is an extraordinary opportunity for conservatives, and it is not likely to come our way again in our lifetimes. Many of these WalkAways come from surprising demographics—gay people, ethnic minorities, and others.

https://www.walkawaycampaign.com/

The left worked these communities hard in amassing its power, and it is incumbent on the right to reach out to these same individuals. With the left inching ever closer to total victory, the right cannot afford to shun those who are like-minded just because they previously found themselves on opposite sides of a debate. This is a golden opportunity.

The bright light has shone. The WalkAways are on the move. We at Potomac Tea Party are doing our part to affirm their courageous personal decisions.

What will you do to get other former Democrats to Damascus?

Here we go, from Russia with love, to campaign finance with love.

Why was Michael Cohen investigated? Because the “Steele dossier” had him making secret trips to meet with Russians that never happened, so his business dealings got a thorough scrubbing and, in the process, he fell into the Paul Manafort bin reserved by the special counsel for squeezing until the juice comes out. We are back to 1998 all over again, with presidents and candidates covering up their alleged marital misdeeds and prosecutors trying to turn legal acts into illegal ones by inventing new crimes.

The plot to get President TrumpE out of office thickens, as Cohen obviously was his own mini crime syndicate and decided that his betrayals meant he would be better served turning on his old boss to cut the best deal with prosecutors he could rather than holding out and getting the full Manafort treatment. That was clear the minute he hired attorney Lanny Davis, who does not try cases and did past work for Hillary Clinton. Cohen had recorded his client, trying to entrap him, sold information about Trump to corporations for millions of dollars while acting as his lawyer, and did not pay taxes on millions.

The sweetener for the prosecutors, of course, was getting Cohen to plead guilty to campaign violations that were not campaign violations. Money paid to people who come out of the woodwork and shake down people under threat of revealing bad sexual stories are not legitimate campaign expenditures. They are personal expenditures. That is true for both candidates we like and candidates we do not. Just imagine if candidates used campaign funds instead of their own money to pay folks like Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about affairs. They would get indicted for misuse of campaign funds for personal purposes and for tax evasion.

There appear to be two payments involved in this unusual agreement. Cohen pleaded guilty to a campaign violation for having “coordinated” the American Media payment to Karen McDougal for her story, not for actually making the payment. He is pleading guilty over a corporate contribution he did not make. Think about this for a minute. Suppose ABC paid Stormy Daniels for her story in coordination with Michael Avenatti or maybe even the law firm of the Democratic National Committee on the eve of the election.

By this reasoning, if the purpose of this money paid, just before the election, would be to hurt Trump and help Clinton win, this payment would be a corporate political contribution. If using it not to get Trump would be a corporate contribution, then using it to get Trump also has to be a corporate contribution. That is why neither are corporate contributions and this is a bogus approach to federal election law. Note that none of the donors in the 2012 John Edwards case faced any legal issues and the Federal Election Commission ruled their payments were not campaign contributions that had to be reported, both facts that prosecutors tried to suppress at trial.

Now, when it comes to Stormy Daniels, Cohen made a payment a few days before the election that Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani says was reimbursed. First, given that this payment was in October, it would never have been reported before the election campaign and so, for all intents and purposes, was immaterial as it relates to any effect on the campaign. What is clear in this plea deal is that, in exchange for overall leniency on his massive tax evasion, Cohen is pleading guilty to these other charges as an attempt to give prosecutors what they want, which is a Trump connection.

The usual procedures here would be for the Federal Election Commission to investigate complaints and sort through these murky laws to determine if these kinds of payments are personal in nature or more properly classified as campaign expenditures. On the Stormy Daniels payment that was made and reimbursed by Trump, it is again a question of whether that was made for personal reasons, especially since they have been trying since 2011 to obtain agreement. Just because it would be helpful to the campaign does not convert it to a campaign expenditure. Think of a candidate with bad teeth who had dental work done to look better for the campaign. His campaign still could not pay for it because it is a personal expenditure.

Contrast what is going on here with the treatment of the millions of dollars paid to a Democratic law firm which, in turn, paid out money to political research firm Fusion GPS and British spy Christopher Steele without listing them on any campaign expenditure form, despite crystal clear laws and regulations that the ultimate beneficiaries of the funds must be listed. This rule was even tightened recently. There is no question that hiring spies to do opposition research in Russia is a campaign expenditure, yet no prosecutorial raids have been sprung on the law firm, Fusion GPS or Steele. The reason? It does not “get” Trump.

So, Trump spends $130,000 to keep the lid on a personal story and the full weight of state prosecutors comes down on his lawyer, tossing attorney-client privilege to the wind. Democrats spend potentially millions on secret opposition research and no serious criminal investigation occurs. Remember that the feds tried a similar strategy against Democratic candidate Edwards six years ago and it failed. As Gregory Craig, a lawyer who worked both for President Clinton and Edwards, said, “The government theory is wrong on the facts and wrong on the law. It is novel and untested. There is no civil or criminal precedent for such a prosecution.” Tried it there anyway and it failed.

Let us also not forget that President Clinton was entrapped into lying about his affairs and, although impeached, was acquitted by the Senate. The lesson was clear: We are not going to remove presidents for lying about who they had affairs with, nor even convict politicians on campaign finance violations for these personal payments.

With Cohen pleading guilty, there will be no test of soundness of the prosecution theories here, and it is yet another example of the double standards of justice of one investigation that gave Clinton aides and principals every benefit of the doubt and another investigation that targeted Trump people until they found unrelated crimes to use as leverage. Prosecutors thought nothing of using the Logan Act against former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn, but they are using obscure and unsettled elements of campaign finance law against Trump lawyer Cohen to manufacture crimes in what is a naked attempt to take Trump down and defeat democracy.

Trump should do a better job of picking aides who pay their taxes, but he is not responsible for their financial problems and crimes. These investigations, essentially based on an opposition dossier, were never anything other than an attempt to push into a corner as many Trump aides and family members as possible and shake them down until they could get close enough to Trump to try to take him down.

That is why so many of his aides, lawyers, and actions in the campaign and in the White House have undergone hour by hour scrutiny to find anything that could be colored into a crime, leaving far behind the original Russia collusion theory as the fake pretext it was. Paying for nondisclosure agreements for perfectly legal activities is not a crime, not a campaign contribution as commonly understood or ruled upon by the Federal Election Commission. Squeezing guilty pleas out of vulnerable witnesses does nothing to change those facts.

Liberals across the nation are squirming in their seats with glee at the latest news that President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, struck a plea deal with prosecutors that involved violating campaign finance laws related to a payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Not so fast.

As conservative talk radio star Mark Levin made clear Tuesday, through an interview with a former Federal Elections Commission chairman, the Cohen plea bargain is not exactly the slam dunk against Trump that it’s being portrayed by the mainstream media.

Cohen agreed to plead guilty to eight criminal counts of tax evasion (five counts), making a false statement to a financial institution (one count), and campaign finance violations (two counts), according to The Wall Street Journal.

It’s the campaign finance charges that have liberals going bananas. But Cohen only pleaded to them, Levin said, to avoid prosecution on even more charges.

“Prosecutors and Cohen cut a deal. It’s a plea bargain,” Levin said, according to Conservative Review. “It’s not a precedent. … They obviously had more on Michael Cohen, or Michael Cohen wouldn’t have cut a deal.”

More to the point, Levin said, Cohen’s guilty plea to campaign finance charges don’t mean there was an actual violation of the law.

And it wasn’t just Levin. Bradley Smith, a Clinton-appointed member of FEC from 2000 to 2005 and its chairman in 2004, agreed.

Early in the interview with Levin, in response to a hypothetical situation Levin described, Bradley said a payment such as the one involving Cohen, which related to behavior that took place prior to a potential candidate’s political campaign, “should not be” considered a campaign violation

In the interview, Smith — the former chairman of the FEC, remember — makes the point over and over again that just the fact that an expenditure might help a candidate’s public image does not make every penny a candidate spends a matter of campaign finance law.

The whole interview is worth listening to, but the heart of Levin’s questioning comes about the 2:45 mark.

“The argument seems to be and it hasn’t changed is that if I spend money to make myself look better or to take away negative issues in my private life, my business life, my employment life, and use my own money, that somehow that is a campaign contribution, correct?”

Smith agrees, “Right.”

Levin confirms, “Which is it’s not.”

And Smith again validates, “That’s right, it’s not.”

Clearly, no matter Cohen might have agreed to to avoid other forms of prosecution, the alleged “campaign finance violation” is incredibly weak.

Then Levin, a constitutional lawyer who served in the Reagan Justice Department, went deeper to ask how much weight Cohen’s conviction would carry in future legal proceedings.

Smith’s answer, basically, was not much.

Levin asked: “Does this have judicial precedent? Stare decisis? Is it controlling in any way on any future case in that respect?”

“No, it’s not the same as if you had a judgment from the court,” he said. “Defining this as a campaign expenditure. It’s a plea bargain. People plea bargain for lots of reasons and one of the big reasons is that they plea bargain down to lesser charge to get a lesser penalty for pleading to something. …

“Sometimes they plea bargain to one charge because the penalty for that is less than the other thing they would be charged with. There are lots of reasons why people plea bargain, but bottom line is just as you said, it’s not judicial precedent that you can cite in court to prove the law of a case.”

The interview is loaded with reasons why the liberal media’s evident delight in Tuesday’s Cohen plea deal is as misplaced as all the media’s previous certainties that whatever the latest scandal was, it was going to be the one to bring Trump down.

Is it good news for the president that his former attorney has pleaded guilty to eight counts of criminal behavior? Obviously not.

But is it the legal crisis that Chuck Todd at MSNBC and the rest of the liberal media are pretending it is?

A guy who used to be in charge of the Federal Elections Commission doesn’t think so.

And he knows a little more about it than Chuck Todd.

Until such time as liberals come up with something of substance for to go after the present administration, it’s my opinion that there is probably a lot of really important news on which to focus.

And while we turn our attentions there, we can also enjoy a better economy, higher employment numbers and hopefully celebrate an upcoming confirmation of a constitutional conservative to the Supreme Court.

Editor’s Note: Fox News reported that the website mentioned by Michael Cohen’s lawyer, Lanny Davis, directed users to President Donald Trump’s campaign website. However, it now redirects visitors to a GoFundMe page for President Trump’s border wall.

Lanny Davis is not having a good day.

On top of having to convince people his client Michael Cohen is ‘committed’ to the truth, he was apparently also tasked with raising his own paycheck.

On Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom,” Lanny preached Cohen’s love of everything true. “He’s committed to telling the truth.”

“We’ve actually set up a website with the name ‘truth’ in it, called michaelcohentruth.com, and he’s looking for help from people who want to give donations to help him uh… tell the truth.”

There’s only one problem. Typing michaelcohentruth.com in your browser takes you to a GoFundMe page for President Donald Trump’s border wall.

Better not cash that paycheck just yet, Lanny.

Where did it all go so wrong?

Lanny did the math. Fox has a huge number of viewers, so it would be a perfect place to promote the website. With possibly millions watching, what could go wrong?

Lanny gave a typical lawyer interview and was a courteous professional. Everybody wants to donate to those guys.

But despite doing everything right, our lovable lawyer failed to take a crucial step: visiting the website you’re planning to promote.

It’s a deceptively simple concept, one that 7 years at Yale never prepared him for.

Nobody noticed the website despite it being mentioned twice, and it was not corrected in the interview.

Before the questions get a little more aggressive and Lanny gets a little more frustrated, he was able to get one more confusing jab in.

“When Rudy Giuliani says ‘truth isn’t truth,’ you just heard Donald Trump reverse truth and make it into a falsehood.”

“It’s classic,” Lanny said, shaking his head with a chuckle. “Classic.”

You got that one right, Lanny.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

The California Senate passed AB 2943 on Aug. 16, sending the bill to the Assembly for consideration. (Photo: nito100/Getty Images)

A groundswell of opposition from churches, pastors, and ordinary citizens in California may have delayed but ultimately could not prevent the passage of AB 2943 by the California Senate on Aug. 16.

The bill itself, dubbed by some as the “Must Stay Gay” bill, is a perfect storm of leftist political correctness that attacks free speech and freedom of religion while institutionalizing the sexual revolution. The state’s Assembly and Gov. Jerry Brown have one last chance to stop it from becoming law.

On its face, AB 2943 is Round 2 of the California Legislature’s attack on sexual orientation change efforts, referred to by critics as “conversion therapy.”Sexual orientation change efforts” is an umbrella term for talk therapies or counseling practices that assist people who experience unwanted same-sex sexual attractions in overcoming those feelings, or abstaining from homosexual behavior.

The first round of attack was a 2012 bill prohibiting licensed mental health providers from giving this therapy to clients who are minors—an approach since imitated in more than a dozen other states.

AB 2943 would significantly expand this restriction, applying it to clients of any age whatsoever. The bill, which would prohibit advertising or providing sexual orientation change efforts, would also apply to any counselor who is paid a fee for their services, regardless of whether they are state-licensed (including religious or pastoral counselors).

The bill has awakened many people to the threat that such therapy bans pose to core freedoms of speech and religion. The implications of these attacks extend well beyond the limited population of people with unwanted same-sex attractions and the compassionate therapists who seek to help them achieve their client-driven goals.

For example, a prohibition on pursuing a goal in therapy amounts to a restriction on what the therapist or counselor can say in that private setting. This is legally dubious, as shown by the Supreme Court in its recent decision in NIFLA v. Becerra, which struck down another radical California law. The state had essentially tried to force pro-life pregnancy centers to advertise for the state’s free abortion program, but the Supreme Court said such a requirement violated the centers’ free speech rights.

In his majority opinion, Justice Clarence Thomas wrote, “Some Courts of Appeals have recognized ‘professional speech’ as a separate category of speech that is subject to different rules”—specifically citing the 9th U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals ruling (Pickup v. Brown) that upheld California’s 2012 therapy ban. But Thomas went on to rebuke that view, declaring, “Speech is not unprotected merely because it is uttered by ‘professionals.’”

Thomas’ opinion sent a strong signal that the Supreme Court is prepared to strike down even limited therapy bans on free speech grounds.

The broader and more radical prohibition in AB 2943 almost certainly won’t survive. Even so, California legislators had the gall to vote for a bill that they now know is unconstitutional.

Ironically, the California Senate’s vote came in the same week that a new peer-reviewed medical journal article debunking the key claims made in support of therapy bans began circulating. Critics of sexual orientation change efforts routinely assert that such therapy is ineffective (arguing sexual orientation cannot be changed) and that attempting it is harmful (driving clients into depression or even suicide).

The problem with such reasoning is there is only anecdotal evidence of harm—including “victim stories” that are at times dubious or even clearly fabricated. Meanwhile, there are both personal testimonies and research to indicate that such therapy can be beneficial and effective.

The new study in The Linacre Quarterly, authored by Paul L. Santero, Neil E. Whitehead, and Dolores Ballesteros, observed 125 men who underwent sexual orientation change efforts. The study found that “most … had heterosexual shifts in sexual attraction, sexual identity, and behavior,” as well as “decreases in suicidality, depression, [and] substance abuse.”

These findings mirror those of a similar study by Stanton L. Jones and Mark A. Yarhouse a decade ago, which were reported to the American Psychological Association convention and exhaustively documented in a 400-page book.

AB 2943 poses a threat not only to freedom of speech, but also to freedom of religion. While some secular therapists and nonreligious clients have achieved success with sexual orientation change efforts, there is no doubt that most clients seeking such care, and most therapists and counselors providing it, have religious motivations.

AB 2943 would effectively block people from placing the teachings of their faith above the urgings and impulses of their mind or body. AB 2943 is, therefore, an attack on the religious liberty of us all.

It didn’t take long for liberal spin to conjure up the specter of guilt by association as the media  tried to build a case for impeachment of President Donald Trump due to the latest developments in the Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort cases.

On Tuesday Michael Cohen, the president’s former attorney, pleaded guilty to eight charges of felony fraud and campaign finance law violations. In doing so, he also implicated the president, who he claims directed him to pay off porn star Stormy Daniels as well as a former Playboy model to buy their silence for alleged sexual encounters.

That alone would have made liberals happy. But the anti-Trump crowd was also crowing that former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort was convicted on the same day of eight charges of tax and bank fraud brought by special counsel Robert Mueller as part of his investigation of alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

A lot of nonsense takes place on social media, but sometimes bits of wisdom shine through. These particular comments put the spotlight on liberal hypocrisy that has no problem with smearing Trump with guilt by association, but was mysteriously blind when it came to former President Barack Obama.

Liberal memories are short when it comes to liberal sins, but author and conservative Twitter user Thomas Wictor reminds us all that guilt by association was — or should have been — a much bigger issue in the Obama administration.

He listed at least five egregious instances where guilt by association could be argued in relation to Barack Obama, and he starts with Obama associate Tony Rezko.

“(3) Obama fundraiser and member of his U.S. Senate campaign finance committee Tony Rezko. Sentenced to over ten years for public and private corruption. Served four.”
“(4) Obama fundraiser Courtney Dupree. Convicted of bank fraud.”
“(5) Obama bundler Willie Shepherd. Pleaded guilty to third-degree assault on his wife in exchange for dropping negligent child-abuse charges.”
“(6) Rod Blagojevich, Illinois governor. Doing 14 years in the federal pen for trying to sell Obama’s vacated seat.”

And he caps it off with this closing tweet.

To be fair, longtime Barack Obama buddy Bill Ayers was never implicated in murder during his spree as a bomber for the domestic terrorist group the Weather Underground.

It’s also worth pointing out that Ayers’ girlfriend at the time, Diana Oughton, died in 1970 when a nail bomb she was helping to build exploded in a house in Grennwich Village. A Vanity Fair article from 2015 claims Ayers and his Weather Underground terrorists never intended to hurt people, but it’s safe to wonder if they were worried about who would be on the receiving end of those nails flying through the air with deadly, explosive force.

The Daily Caller points out some clarifying factors on the the guilt-by-association accusations against Trump.

In the Manafort case, even though Manafort spent a short time with the Trump campaign to work specifically on the Republican National Convention, the media will fail to mention he was “fired over questions of his work as a lobbyist for foreign governments years earlier,” and all charges were related to actions of Manafort long before he ever joined Trump’s presidential run.

As The Daily Caller put it: “It’s guilt by association coupled with omission of relevant facts to paint the president as somehow associated with a guilty person’s actions.”

As far as Cohen is concerned, and as conservative radio host Mark Levin has pointed out, the charges of payoffs to two women for alleged sexual encounters are still not proven to be illegal. It is not not illegal for to pay for non-disclosure agreements in politics or any other sphere of the law.

Liberals have once again cast stones from their own glass houses. They should really think twice before they invent false scenarios.

Some sharp-minded Twitter members might just throw a litany of facts on their feed that blow their latest spin out of the water.

If you’ve ever wondered how Russia became America’s most fearsome enemy, long after that country gave up Communism, gulags, forced starvations and mass murder (all of which liberals were cool with), the answer is: This crackpot idea came from the same woman who blamed a “vast right-wing conspiracy” for Monica Lewinsky.

The Russia conspiracy is classic Hillary, as detailed in my new book, Resistance Is Futile!: How the Trump-Hating Left Lost Its Collective Mind.

Throughout her long and blemished public career, Hillary has always blamed her troubles on bad people conspiring against her.

When her husband’s mistress, Gennifer Flowers, stepped forward as Bill Clinton was running for president in 1992, Hillary blamed a former gubernatorial opponent of her husband, who “has now spent the last two years doing everything he can to try to get even, and it’s a sort of sad spectacle.”

Bill later admitted to the affair.

When Hillary callously fired long-serving White House travel office employees to make room for her friends’ travel business, she responded to the public outcry by accusing the head of the travel office, Billy Dale, of embezzlement. To continue the charade, her husband’s government criminally prosecuted Dale. The jury acquitted him after about three minutes of deliberation, but Dale was left jobless and nearly bankrupt.

When Hillary’s health care bill went down in flames, hurting the Democrats and leading to the first Republican Congress in 40 years, she blamed the media for having “bought into the right-wing attack.” (You know how the media slavishly repeat conservative talking points.)

As mentioned above, when her husband was caught for the millionth time molesting the help, Hillary blamed a “vast right-wing conspiracy.”

When DNA proved the story was true, Hillary blamed the fuss in the media on “prejudice against our state” — meaning Arkansas. “They wouldn’t be doing this if we were from some other state,” she said. Even The San Francisco Chronicle hooted at that one.

When she lost to Obama in 2008, she blamed the media’s rampant sexism. In fact, a ham-handed liar like Hillary could only have survived in politics as long as she did thanks to the media’s devotion to her.

Quiz: When the Democratic National Committee’s emails popped up on Wikileaks in July 2016, embarrassing her campaign and enraging Democrats, would Hillary:

A) Apologize to Bernie Sanders for the DNC’s horrible mistreatment of him;

B) Demand an accounting of the inept computer security measures at the DNC;

Or

C) Invent a story about Russia conspiring against her?

Answer: C. Russia had to become the next Linda Tripp, a mysterious enemy undermining our heroine.

Hillary’s campaign manager Robby Mook launched the Russia conspiracy theory on the eve of the Democratic National Convention on ABC’s “This Week With George Stephanopoulos” — because who better to ask the tough questions than a former top aide to Hillary’s husband?

Mook explained:

“Well, what’s disturbing about this entire situation is that experts are telling us that Russian state actors broke into the DNC, took all these emails and now are leaking them out through these websites. … And it’s troubling that some experts are now telling us that this was done by — by the Russians for the purpose of helping Donald Trump.”

Stephanopoulos may not have burst out laughing, but, at the time, every serious journalist in America did. Right up until Trump drove liberals mad by winning the election, Hillary’s Russia conspiracy theory was scoffed at throughout the media.

A New York Times story described Mook’s claim as an “eerie suggestion of a Kremlin conspiracy to aid Donald Trump.” It was, the Times reporters said, a “remarkable moment.” Even at the height of the Cold War, such an accusation had never been leveled by one presidential candidate against another. And yet, the Times dryly observed, Mook had cited nothing more than unnamed “experts.”

Los Angeles Times reporter Mark Z. Barabak also pointed out the unnamed “experts” and noted that Mook’s “allegation” served two political purposes. It tainted Trump’s boast that he’d get along with Russia and “also served the added benefit, from Clinton’s perspective, of distracting from internal party divisions over the emails.”

Russian scholars and cyber-security experts dismissed the harebrained claim:

“Experts: Hard to prove Russians behind DNC hack” — USA Today

“Why the Kremlin might not be the fan of Trump that it’s said to be” — The Christian Science Monitor

A month later, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi held a conference call with nervous Democrats, urging them to push the Russian conspiracy theory and also to put out the word that “the Russians” might have altered the content of the emails.

President Obama took the alleged Russian hacking so seriously that he told Putin to “cut it out.”

It was only after disaster struck and Trump won the election that the media decided maybe there was something to that Russia business, after all.

As described in the book “Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign,” two days after the election, Hillary’s communications team met for hours “to engineer the case that the election wasn’t entirely on the up-and-up. … Already, Russian hacking was the centerpiece of the argument.”

The entire Russian collusion gag was invented to assuage the potty pantsuit’s embarrassment at having lost a second election that was fixed for her to win.

In the two years since the media guffawed at Mook’s claim, the public has been presented with no new evidence. All that’s changed is that the media suddenly decided to demand that we all believe it.

By now it has become predictable old news to hear that Fox News Channel defeated their cable news rivals CNN and MSNBC in the weekly ratings, as they have finished number one out of the big three in total average viewers per day for 31 consecutive weeks, according to Adweek.

Nor is it a surprise to hear that Fox beat their rivals in prime time viewership either, as they have done so for 11 consecutive weeks now.

What is somewhat surprising, and incredibly laughable, is that CNN — the formerly vaunted crown jewel of the establishment media — has sunk so low in the ratings that they are losing out to other basic cable networks in terms of prime time viewers, networks with decidedly less important topics to air than the serious news of the day.

The Daily Caller noted that while Fox ranked number one in total prime time viewers for the week of August 6-12 — 2.18 million viewers on the average evening — and were followed closely by MSNBC — 1.75 million viewers — both were trailed significantly by CNN, which averaged only 992,000 viewers during the prime time hours.

That placed CNN at seventh on the list, behind such basic cable networks as Home and Garden Television (1.33 million), USA Network (1.25 million), the History Channel (1.06 million) and TBS Network (1.02 million).

Essentially, CNN’s prime time stars like Anderson Cooper and Chris Cuomo are drawing fewer viewers than History Channel shows such as “Pawn Stars,” “American Pickers,” “Counting Cars,” “Mountain Men,” and perhaps funniest of all, “Ancient Aliens.”

Indeed, it would appear that more Americans would prefer to watch people haggle over the price of obscure antiques and old cars — or dive into the conspiracy theory of intelligent aliens visiting ancient civilizations on earth to help build the pyramids and teach them other civilization-building knowledge — than watch Cooper or Cuomo prattle on about Russians or bash the Trump administration on a daily basis.

Some of our readers who frequent social media have likely seen the memes of “Ancient Aliens” crazy-haired star Giorgio Tsoukalos stating “I’m not saying it was aliens, but it was aliens.”

That meme has recently been transformed in light of the ratings news to now feature Cooper or Cuomo stating, “I’m not saying it was the Russians, but it was probably the Russians.”

It is worth noting that while CNN lost out to the History Channel during prime time hours, the media outlet did manage to beat the History Channel in terms of total day viewers — 674,000 to 548,000. That means that at least some day time viewers seem to prefer watching CNN compare the current administration to Nazis than watching documentaries on actual Nazis during WWII.

So there is that, I guess, that CNN has going for them. Now if only CNN can find a way to woo viewers away from Nickelodeon, HGTV and Investigation Discovery … but they’d still be trailing Fox and MSNBC during the day.

It is also worth pointing out that while Adweek had noted that number one Fox News had seen a slight decline in its total numbers over last year — down 4 percent in total day viewers and down 18 percent among the key 25-54 demographic — CNN saw an even greater decline in their viewer numbers over last year.

Indeed, CNN’s daytime total was off by 13 percent and they fell by 23 percent in terms of the key 25-54 demographic of viewers that advertisers are so fond of.

We are witnessing the slow death of the overtly biased liberal media — which isn’t confined simply to TV, as formerly widely-read legacy newspapers have also seen immense drops in their numbers. This decline has been brought about their own actions, and no amount of kicking and screaming about Russia, Trump is Hitler or racism everywhere is going to save them.

Reporting the news in a straight-forward and objective manner is the only remedy that will save them now, but that might as well be buried beneath an alien spacecraft hidden inside a pyramid or tucked away on the back shelf of a pawn shop, given the media’s continued lurch leftward in spite of their plummeting ratings.

Another day, another “we’ve got him now. No, really, we’ve really, truly, madly, deeply got him, now!” series of headlines from the establishment media about President Donald Trump.

This time the focus is on campaign finance.

And once again, voters are left to their own devices to figure out what the truth really is and if there actually is a crime involved. Add to that the way the establishment media addressed the topic when President Barack Obama was involved in similar “scandals,” and you have more evidence as to why the establishment media outlets are so often called “fake news.”

The latest “Get Trump” establishment media feeding frenzy stems from a plea deal made by Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen. On Tuesday, Cohen pleaded guilty to eight criminal charges against him, including two alleged campaign finance violations. One involved a payment of $130,000 in 2016 from then-candidate Trump to porn star Stormy Daniels. The other involved coordinating a $150,000 payment by the National Enquirer’s publisher to former Playboy model Karen McDougal, according to The Wall Street Journal.

A great breakdown of the situation comes from radio and television personality Mark Levin, who is also a lawyer and worked in the Justice Department during the Reagan administration.

Appearing on “Hannity,” Levin offered his “help to the “the law professors, the constitutional experts, the criminal defense lawyers, the former prosecutors, and of course the professors” in regards to “what the law is” surrounding the campaign finance issue and Michael Cohen plea deal.

“The general counsel for the Clinton Mob Family, Lanny Davis, he had his client plead to two counts of criminality that don’t exist. These campaign finance violations that they are saying all over TV implicates the president directly.”

“First, let’s back up. It’s a guilty plea. It is a plea bargain between a prosecutor and a criminal. A criminal who doesn’t want to spend the rest of his life in prison. That is not precedent. That applies only to that specific case,” Levin said.

“Nobody cites plea bargains for precedent. That’s number one.

“Number two: Just because a prosecutor says that somebody violated a campaign law, doesn’t make it so. He’s not the judge, he’s not the jury. We didn’t adjudicate anything–it never went to court. That’s number two.

“A campaign expenditure, under our federal campaign laws, is an expenditure solely for campaign activity. A candidate who spends his own money, or even corporate money, for an event that occurred not as a result of the campaign, it is not a campaign expenditure.”

Levin then gave some examples, one being a candidate for office having disputes with a vendor and not wanting the negative publicity. In this scenario, the hypothetical candidate instructs his private attorney to just pay the vendors and he (the candidate) will reimburse the attorney.”

Levin adds that this is “perfectly legal” and a “point” made that such an act would “influence an election” was “stupid.”

Earlier this year, Newsweek tackled the “the question of whether longtime Trump attorney Michael Cohen’s $130,000 hush money payment to adult actress Stormy Daniels was an illegal campaign contribution.”  Ex-Federal Election Commission Chairman Bradley Smith told Newsweek in March that, “It looks like Trump has made these kinds of payments to people before unrelated to his campaign or as a candidate. It’s hard to show this payment was made solely because he was running for election.”

By way of comparison as to how the media handled a “campaign finance scandal” when it came to Trump’s predecessor, let’s first ask if anyone was aware there even was one.

In one of the few mainstream media reports about it, a U.S. News & World Report headline from 2013 announced, “Obama Campaign Fined Big for Hiding Donors, Keeping Illegal Donations.”

The article went on to note that,The FEC levied one of its largest fines ever against Obama’s campaign committee, new documents show.” The Federal Election Commission fined his campaign $375,000 for “a failure to disclose or improperly disclosing thousands of contributions to Obama for America during the then-senator’s 2008 presidential run.”

More specifically, citing the FEC, the article stated that “the Obama campaign failed to disclose the sources of 1,300 large donations, which together accounted for nearly $1.9 million. Election Commission rules state campaigns must report donations of $1,000 or more within 20 days of Election Day.”

“Obama for America was also fined for ‘untimely resolution of excessive contributions,’ according to the conciliation agreement, FEC says,” the report continues. “The campaign accepted more than $1.3 million in contributions that came from donors who had already given $46,000 — the maximum allowed by FEC rules. The campaign eventually refunded the excess cash but did not do so within the 60-day window allotted for resolving such cases.

“In addition to failing to report big donors and excess donations in a timely manner, the Obama campaign incorrectly dated the filings dealing with $85 million in funds, the FEC claims. This error appears to have been primarily the result of one transfer to the campaign committee from the Obama Victory Fund, a fundraising group that includes money raised by the Democratic National Committee that is earmarked for the presidential race.”

Do you remember the media having a field-day with the news and screaming for Obama to be impeached?

Was anyone sent to jail over actual mishandling of actual campaign funds? (No Russians were implicated in the commission of those violations of federal election law, either.)

The sharp contrast between the two situations is undeniable.

To anyone with eyes to read, there is a distinct appearance of the establishment media using extreme measures to smear a sitting president and build public pressure for impeachment. Neither of which is the duty of a free press or an honorable Fourth Estate.

On Monday, Communist Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA), a man who called for the prosecution of citizens who would not turn in their weapons to the state, said that after the 2018 midterm elections, he would consider a presidential run in 2020.

I don’t know whether to say, “Go ahead” or not, but I do know this man has a very dangerous ideology that is anti-American no matter what language he wraps it in, just like a lot of Californian politicians.

Fabricating news network CNN host Poppy Harlow said to Swalwell during an interview on Monday, “Let’s talk about where you’ve been standing a lot, congressman, and that is in Iowa – 10 times over the last year and a half. Now I like Iowa … People running for president also like Iowa.”

“Are you going to run for president?” she asked.

“I’m going to do all I can do first to win my way back to Congress,” Swalwell said.  “I’m helping a lot of colleagues. Particularly, there’s three seats in Iowa where we have two of our candidates under the age of 40. Then after the midterms, I’m going to consider it.  Right now, I’m helping candidates who are stepping up to protect our health care, paychecks and protect the democracy. I’m inspired by so many new candidates who are bursts of new energy, ideas and leadership.”

“There was the news in there, ‘I am considering it,'” she queried, trying to get a straight answer from an obvious weasel.  “So not a denial. You are thinking about running for president. Why do you think that you would be (a) your party’s best shot at the Oval Office and (b) the single best person to lead this country?”

“Poppy, this president has just taken a wrecking ball to so many freedoms that give me, a first generation person in my family to go to college, an opportunity,” Swalwell said. “I was raised to believe if you work hard, it means something. I think that having experience and energy to give Americans a health care guarantee, invest in modern schools, to make sure we green our grid and infrastructure, that that is the path forward – and that the future for our country is a page forward. I’m going to consider [running for president].”

Wait, what?  This guy talks about wrecking ball to freedoms while demanding to prosecute law-abiding citizens for not turning in their guns?  Hello pot, this is kettle.

And what?  While he says “I was raised to believe if you work hard, it means something,” he then goes on to tell you what that means.  He wants to take what you work hard for and then steal it from you through taxation to fund his little projects that he thinks moves the country forward when it actually moves us backward.

Where did this man get “experience and energy” to give Americans a health care guarantee?  Where does he think he gets the authority to do that in the first place from our Constitution?  I’ll tell you where.  Nowhere!

When he speaks of “investing in modern schools,” he means stealing more money from taxpayers to prop up the illegal federal Department of Education, which is really the Department of Indoctrination that should be abolished and gotten rid of because it is a usurpation of the rights of the people of the states and nowhere did we give authority to DC to engage in the education of America’s children.

When he speaks of “greening our grid and infrastructure,” that has to be the stupidest, most costly thing one could engage in and the numbers play that out. Again, this is all moving backward not forward.

“Right now, the best way to cut our time in Hell in half is to win Congress,” he added.  “We shouldn’t look beyond that.”

Personally, a bit of time in “Hell,” as he puts it, was cut out with the exit of the usurper of the White House, Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Sobarkah, but we’re far from out of the woods in this administration either.

Last week, he seemed to imply the same thing.  Politico reported that he was asked about those trips to Iowa.

“I’m laying the groundwork right now to win three congressional seats in Iowa … I’m going to make that decision after the midterms.” But he adds: “I have a full term coming, my wife’s due on December 4,” so any decision will come after.”

The Washington Free Beacon reported on the other Commies in California who may seek the highest office in the land, none of which should be allowed in public service due to their anti-Constitutional and corrupt standing.

Bookmakers in Vegas currently aren’t running any odds on Swalwell, but two other California candidates are listed. Senator Kamala Harris is ranked first on the odds maker’s boards, generally giving odds between 4/1 and 6/1. Fellow Californian and gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newsom is placed at 7/1 or 8/1, according to oddschecker.com. Newsom is currently the lieutenant governor, and is expected to easily win his contest in November. Currently, the website is listing odds on 44 different potential candidates.

As the Washington Free Beacon reported in July, Rep. Adam Schiff’s (D., Calif.) leadership PAC appears to be on pace to spend more in the 2018 cycle than it did in the previous six cycles combined.

Schiff has used his elevated profile to harvest more fundraising dollars, and according to campaign finance data compiled in the last reporting period by the Center for Responsive Politics (CRP), Schiff was passing along most of that to other Democratic house candidates, most of whom were in the most competitive districts nationwide.

We don’t need anymore Communist Democrats from California in DC.  Swalwell is one of many who needs to lose the election come November.

The Paul Manafort case is now in the hands of the jury — and, if the people at CNN and other leftist news outlets have anything to do with it, that jury could be facing some serious intimidation. According to Breitbart, CNN and six other news outlets have sued to obtain the personal details of the individuals who will judge the merits of the government’s case against the former Trump campaign manager. Along with CNN, BuzzFeed, Politico, The New York Times, NBC and The Associated Press have filed a suit requesting the details of the jurors, including their names and home addresses.

Breitbart described the suit as “a move that is both disturbing and almost unprecedented.”

Writing at The Federalist, Bre Payton noted that the request by CNN and other left-leaning outfits suggested there was more going on that simple journalistic pursuit of information.

“Publicly outing the names and home addresses of jurors is considered ethically questionable, as outlined in this guidance sheet on the topic from the Reporter’s Committee for Freedom of the Press,” Bre Payton noted at The Federalist.

This is doubly troubling when you take into account the fact that the judge in the case says he’s received threats due to his role in adjudicating the matter.

In rejecting the motion put forth by the news organizations, U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III said that he’s currently being trailed by U.S. Marshals because of the threats made against him, according to Fox News.

“I can tell you there have been (threats), Ellis said, adding that “The Marshals go where I go.”

“I don’t feel right if I release (the jurors) names,” he concluded.

That would be bad enough, but CNN in particular has a long history of intimidating people that cross them. Last year, they threatened to dox an individual who created an anti-CNN .gif meme.

According to Breitbart, the network also doxxed an elderly Trump supporter who had promoted a pro-Trump event that may have been set up by Russians, leading to harassment and threatening.

And then there’s the time, as RealClear Politics reported, that the network gave out George Zimmerman’s Social Security number. We could go on and on.

With that kind of history in mind, CNN’s request to the court looks less like an act of journalists seeking information than it does the groundwork of a plan to attack the Manafort jury if it comes back with a verdict the media doesn’t like.

This is an absolutely farcical request that serves no legitimate journalistic purposes. It’s doxxing, plain and simple.

These jurors don’t deserve this. CNN shouldn’t be putting their thumbs on the scales of justice.,

A mass execution by Islamic State jihadis

A man suspected of being a murderer for ISIS in Iraq was arrested in Sacramento, California by the FBI, reported The Daily Caller.

Omar Ameen, 45, has been in the U.S. since 2014 and faces extradition to Iraq for murdering an Iraqi policeman for ISIS.

The FBI began investigating Ameen in 2016 for fraud and misuse of visas. According to government documents, eight witnesses confirmed to the bureau that Ameen was a member of ISIS and al-Qaeda, and that the murder was on behalf of ISIS.

When applying for a visa and green card, Ameen hid his alleged terror memberships and actions.

Authorities also say that Ameen’s family facilitated the establishment of al-Qaeda in Iraq and, in addition to the murder, Ameen was responsible for planting explosives in Iraq.

Ameen left Iraq for Turkey in 2012 where he applied for refugee status in the U.S. Two years later, in June 2014, he was granted that status. The same month, prosecutors say he returned to Iraq and carried out the murder for ISIS. Five months later, he traveled to the U.S. and entered the country as a refugee.

According to government filings, Ameen said he worked in Salt Lake City as a truck loader and laborer beginning in January 2015. He then said he worked as an auto mechanic in Sacramento from February 2016 through February 2018.

The media wanted last August’s “Unite the Right” rallyin Charlottesville to be the next “Bridge to Selma,”an iconic civil rights moment honored by the entire country every year. All week, there were excited announcements of the coming anniversary this past Sunday.

Assured of fawning media coverage, thousands of leftists descended on Charlottesville and Washington, D.C., to march against nonexistent “Nazis.” But we haven’t heard so much about the anniversary since then.

Last year, President Trump blamed “both sides” for the bedlam at the rally to defend Confederate statues — sending the media into a moral panic. Naturally, Trump also denounced white supremacy, for anyone who missed it the first million times he did so. But the part of his remarks that sent a shock wave through the media was this:

“You had a group on one side, and you had a group on the other, and they came at each other with clubs — and it was vicious and it was horrible. And it was a horrible thing to watch. … Yes, I think there’s blame on both sides. You look at both sides — I think there’s blame on both sides. And I have no doubt about it, and you don’t have any doubt about it either.”

BOTH SIDES? But “Antifa” is pure as the driven snow! They are anti-fascist! To blame “both sides” was to endorse fascism.

As Mitt Romney tweeted: “No, not the same. One side is racist, bigoted, Nazi. The other opposes racism and bigotry. Morally different universes.”

Liddle Marco tweeted: “Very important for the nation to hear @potus describe events in #Charlottesville for what they are, a terror attack by #whitesupremacists.”

These tweets were sent about eight months after Antifa member and then-Drexel University professor George Ciccariello-Maher tweeted, “All I want for Christmas is white genocide,” and just four months after Antifa member Eric Clanton was going around Berkeley in a hoodie and face mask cracking a massive U-shaped bike lock on the heads of Trump supporters. He was a professor, too.

But according to the media, the entire Democratic Party and two-thirds of the Republican Party, only one side was to blame for the chaos and violence in Charlottesville last year. We were all agreed: Antifa are heroes. To condemn “both sides” was to cozy up to white supremacists.

This past weekend, we got to test that theory. With a few dozen white supremacists surrounded by a phalanx of cops and unable to instigate anything, and morally pure “Antifa” and their supporters swarming the streets, Charlottesville and D.C. should have been like a field of puppies.

EXPERIMENT RESULTS: Masked, black-clad Antifa violently attacked the police, journalists and random passersby. They destroyed reporters’ camera gear, hurled bottles and fireworks at cops and journalists, smashed cars and screamed obscenities.

Among the popular slogans being chanted by Romney and Rubio’s heroes were:

“F–K THE PIGS!”

“NO BORDER! NO WALL! NO USA AT ALL!”

“COPS AND KLAN GO HAND IN HAND!”

“ALL COPS ARE RACIST, YOU BETTER FACE IT!”

No hate there! Celebrating mass murder on a scale that dwarfs the (real) Nazis, the crowds waved hammer-and-sickle flags. They carried premade signs, such as:

“Behind Every Cop, a Klansman”

“Last Year They Came w/ Torches … This Year They Come w/ Badges”

“This system cannot be reformed, it must be OVERTHROWN!”

“America was NEVER Great!”

A random guy on Twitter with a few thousand followers, Landon Simms, tweeted on Sunday night:

“My grandfather is a 96-yr-old German. When seeing Antifa videos, he shakes his head and says; ‘We didn’t think it could happen in Germany either. These people (Antifa) act and sound like the NAZI party’s Sturmabteilung. Stop them now or you’ll regret it.’”

In short order, Simms’ tweet had gotten a Kardashian-level number of retweets, well surpassing CNN’s average viewership. (And you wonder why the left is fixated on ending free speech on the Internet.)

Simms’ grandfather didn’t see any of the antifa videos on TV – the media showed only antiseptic clips carefully washed of any untoward behavior. But videos were all over the Internet. (Again, you see why the left wants to shut down free speech on the internet.)

The Charlottesville anniversary invented by the media was a controlled experiment of Trump’s “both sides” remark. To test his theory, we removed one side entirely — the white supremacists.

It turns out that even with no “fascists” in sight, with networks and — more importantly — websites filming them, the self-proclaimed “anti-fascists” couldn’t contain their terrifying violence.

Trump was proved right, once again.

“The state is doubling down on its hostility against my beliefs, even though that’s what the Supreme Court said they couldn’t do,” says cake artist Jack Phillips, pictured Sept. 21 working on a custom cake in his Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colorado. (Photo: Rick Wilking/Reuters/Newscom)

The Colorado Civil Rights Commission is going after Christian baker Jack Phillips again, although the Masterpiece Cakeshop owner won a resounding 7-2 decision in June before the U.S. Supreme Court.

The state commission moved against Phillips after a lawyer asked him to design and bake a custom cake celebrating a gender transition, pink on the inside and blue on the outside.

Phillips, who calls himself a cake artist, said the requested cake’s message would violate his religious beliefs.

“The state is doubling down on its hostility against my beliefs, even though that’s what the Supreme Court said they couldn’t do,” Phillips said in a prepared statement released by his lawyers. “It seems I’m the only person in the state of Colorado who can’t live out my beliefs.”

The religious liberty group Alliance Defending Freedom, which has represented Phillips since he turned down a gay couple’s order six years ago for a cake celebrating their marriage, also represents him in a federal lawsuit filed late Tuesday to challenge the latest state action against him.

Shortly after its Supreme Court loss, the state Civil Rights Commission informed Phillips that it found probable cause to believe that Colorado law requires his bakery in Lakewood to create the requested gender-transition cake.

“I serve all customers,” Phillips said once again in his formal statement. “I simply decline to create custom cakes that express messages or celebrate events in violation of my deeply held beliefs.”

According to Alliance Defending Freedom, a lawyer identified as Autumn Scardina asked Masterpiece Cakeshop to bake the gender-transition cake on June 26, 2017. That was the same day the Supreme Court agreed to hear Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, the case involving the wedding cake.

“We told him we’d sell him anything in the shop, but we could not create that cake because of the message it conveyed, Phillips said of the lawyer’s request for the pink and blue cake.

Justice Anthony Kennedy, in an opinion joined by four conservative justices and two liberal justices, ruled nearly a year later, on June 4, that the Civil Rights Commission showed “hostility” toward Phillips and his faith in deciding he had violated state anti-discrimination law by declining to create the cake marking the same-sex marriage.

“It’s clear that the state of Colorado did not get the message from the Supreme Court, since it is still singling out Jack for punishment and showing hostility toward his religious beliefs,” Kristen Waggoner, senior vice president for Alliance Defending Freedom, said in a formal statement.

Scardina, the lawyer who requested the cake celebrating a gender transition, is not a defendant in Phillips’ lawsuit. The baker is suing the state commission’s members in their official capacities, as well as suing its director personally.

“In moving ahead on this new complaint, the government is yet again confirming that it applies its law in an arbitrary and unequal way, which the Supreme Court has already said that it cannot do,” Waggoner, who argued Phillips’ case Dec. 5 before the high court, said.

“Jack and other creative professionals should not be targeted by the government for living consistently with their religious beliefs,” she said.

As a policy, Phillips’ lawyers note, Masterpiece Cakeshop also does not make custom cakes that celebrate Halloween; that center on alcohol or drug abuse or sexual themes; or that convey disparaging messages, including those targeting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals or others in the LGBT movement.

Phillips said:

The Bible tells us God created us male and female, and I believe that. A gender-transition cake is not something I’ve ever made, and it’s not an event I could celebrate. There are plenty of messages I won’t convey on a cake. I’ve turned down requests to make anti-American cakes, cakes disparaging the LGBT community, as well as those glorifying drug and alcohol use, mistreatment of women, divorce, and more.

In the case Phillips won before the Supreme Court, his lawyers stress, the state of Colorado admitted that cake artists are free to decline to create custom cakes with a “specific design,” including wedding cakes with “a symbol of gay pride,” cakes that contain “pro-gay designs or inscriptions,” or cakes with images opposing same-sex marriage.

The state has not found probable cause when other bakers refused to create custom cakes, including those opposing same-sex weddings.

“The arbitrary basis on which the commission is applying the law makes it clear that they are simply targeting Jack because they don’t like his religious beliefs,” Waggoner said. “Jack shouldn’t have to fear government hostility when he opens his shop for business each day. We’re asking the court to put a stop to that.”

This report has been updated to include the name of the lawyer who requested the “gender transition” cake.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, a Democrat, speaks at an event on April 11, 2018. (Photo: Nancy Stone/TNS/Newscom)

During the weekend of Aug. 4-5 (and the preceding Friday night), 12 Chicagoans were shot dead, and 62 others were shot and wounded, the Chicago Tribune reported. Before last week’s mayhem, 1,718 Chicagoans had been shot since the beginning of the year, and 306 had been murdered. Adding to this tragedy is the fact that Chicago’s clearance rate is less than 15 percent. That means that in more than 85 percent of Chicago’s homicides, no suspect is charged. Chicago is by no means unique in this lawlessness. Detroit, Baltimore, Philadelphia, St. Louis, and some other major cities share high rates of homicides.

It’s not just shootings and homicides that negatively impact the overwhelmingly law-abiding black residents of these cities. In addition,

  • there are sky-high rates of burglaries, rapes, and property destruction.
  • The schools are notoriously bad.
  • City budgets face shortfalls.
  • Residents deal with deteriorating city services.
  • All of this causes mass exoduses from these cities by their most capable people.

Ordinary decency demands that something be done to address the horrible conditions under which so many black Americans live.White liberals, black politicians, and sports figures focus most of their attention on what the police do, but how relevant is that to the overall tragedy?

According to Washington Post data, as of July 9, 626 people had been shot and killed by police this year. Of that number, 114 were black. Last year, 987 people were shot and killed by police, of which 223 were black.

To put police shootings in a bit of perspective, in Chicago alone in 2017, there were 674 homicides, almost 80 percent of whose victims were black. It would appear that if one is truly concerned about black deaths, shootings by police should figure way down on one’s list—which is not to excuse bad behavior by some police officers.

Would getting more blacks and Democrats in political office help? It turns out that of the Chicago City Council’s 50 aldermen, only one is Republican. One is an independent. Forty-eight aldermen are Democrats, and 19 are black.

In fact, most of the cities where large segments of their black citizenry live under horrible conditions have been controlled by Democrats for nearly a half-century, and there are many blacks on the instruments of control, such as chiefs of police, superintendents of schools, and members of city councils. If Democratic and black control meant anything, these cities would be paradises.

How helpful to these desperate black communities are the efforts of so many black politicians to focus on allegations about President Donald Trump’s ties to Russia? The leader of the movement to impeach Trump is Rep. Maxine Waters. Her congressional district suffers from high crime rates and failing schools. She, like most other black politicians, claims that she is helping her constituency by doing all she can to fight to get more taxpayer money to her district.More money from taxpayers could not fix the problems of these communities. Over the past 50 years, more than $16 trillion has been spent on poverty programs. The majority of those programs have simply made poverty more comfortable by giving poor people more food, health care, housing, etc.

What’s needed most is to get poor people to change their behavior. Chief among the modifications is reducing female-headed households. Female-headed households produce most of our prison inmates, the highest crime rates, and disproportionate numbers of high school dropouts and suicides. These devastating factors are far beyond the capacity of Washington to fix.

The only people who can fix these problems are black people themselves. Black athletes could be far more productive by going to schools and community centers to encourage constructive behavior and shaming self-destructive behavior. Support should be given to police to stop criminals from preying on communities. Nongovernmental local groups should be encouraged to play greater roles.

It’s a challenge, but keep in mind that black people had the intestinal fortitude to lead the world’s greatest civil rights movement through some very dark days from 1865 to 1965. I believe that we’re up to the challenge.

If we wait for Washington to solve our problems, we’ll be waiting for a long time.

As with anything else, the crime is bad, but the coverup makes it far, far, worse. And considering just how bad the crime was in this case, that’s saying a lot.

Hundreds of Roman Catholic priests in Pennsylvania have molested more than 1,000 children and senior church officials, including the now archbishop of Washington, D.C., systematically covered up the abuse.

A grand jury report released Tuesday reveals the horrific predatory behavior which included making young boys rinse their mouths with holy water to ‘purify’ them after they were forced to give oral sex to clergymen and the abuse of one boy who was made to pose naked as Jesus while other priests took pornographic pictures.

The priests would mark out which boys had been groomed for abuse by giving them gold crosses to wear as necklaces.

The 800-page report refers to more than 300 priests in six diocese where children were raped, plied with alcohol, or forced to perform for clergymen to produce pornographic material since the mid-1950s.

If cultural credibility is ever to be regained, the world will have to see that wolves among the sheep are ruthlessly put down, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

If they fail to do so, look back to the Book of I Samuel, and see just how failing to reign in bad behavior worked out, not just for the offenders themselves, but for Old Eli who should have put a stop to their behavior himself He got judged for NOT doing so.

(Spoiler alert: it went badly.)

The Democrats are pushing a pro-illegal immigrant anti-ICE agenda into the midterms. Is this a good plan?

Every now and then, we should remind ourselves of the horrific acts that were committed by a handful of Obama’s ‘Dreamers’. We all remember Kate Steinle, but here’s a reminder of the horrific murder of Josh Wilkerson 8 years ago.

Since 18-year-old Josh Wilkerson was killed by a Belize national in 2010, Pearland resident Laura Wilkerson has campaigned for more stringent immigration laws, even appearing in a Donald Trump ad on the topic during the 2016 presidential campaign.

“In 2010, one of the illegals slaughtered my son,” Wilkerson told Pelosi. “He tortured him; he beat him; he tied him up like an animal, and he set him on fire.”

Hermilo Moralez, who was 19 at the time of the murder, is serving a life sentence after he admitted to the killing and was convicted in February 2013.

During his trial, Moralez testified that he beat Wilkerson to death at Moralez’ home after the two had an argument.

Following his arrest, Moralez was first declared unfit to stand trial and was placed in a state mental hospital for schizophrenia. He was declared competent in 2012.

Watch Laura Wilkerson confront Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) about Sanctuary Cities:

Let me be clear: This isn’t to say that every person that crosses the border illegally is going to be a vile murderer like Hermilo Moralez. But isn’t one Hermilo Moralez enough? Yet, the Dems are running ‘Open Borders’ candidates.

That is their plan to #ResistTrump?

Reported By Bryan Chai | August 12, 2018 at 1:54pm

Mother Nature can be a fickle mistress.

Even the best-laid plans are at the mercy of everyday elements like wind and rain.

On Saturday, President Donald Trump and his administration were preparing to welcome approximately 180 bikers, consisting of veterans, police officers and members of the “Bikers For Trump” New Jersey chapter for a meet and greet event.

The event was set to take place at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, where Trump is currently on a “working vacation.”

Unsurprisingly, it’s a gorgeous golf club.

Well, it’s normally gorgeous — not so much when there’s a torrential downpour.

Unfortunately for all of the event’s many attendees, the event was rained out.

Now, nobody would’ve blamed the president for canceling or rescheduling the event to try and avoid the rainfall. In fact, with the weather expected to clear up, so he could’ve postponed it for later in the day.

Instead, Trump went above and beyond for his supporters in a way that even his most hardened detractors would struggle to nitpick.

Trump’s certainly not above reproach, but nobody will ever critique him for not caring deeply for his most die-hard supporters.

Without hesitating, Trump invited everyone inside his luxurious golf club which is a pretty big improvement from a simple outdoors photo-op.

Trump greeted many of the guests personally, shook hands, signed autographs and took photos.

It all seemed like controlled chaos in the ballroom at his golf club, which is fitting, considering that’s an apt description for the whirlwind first half of his presidential term.

Eventually, the event moved outside when the weather cleared up a bit, and Trump provided even more photo-ops despite his already generous gesture to move everyone inside.
