Mexican cartels are luring young gamers with large sums of cash to scout the U.S.-Mexico border, according to Telemundo. There have been at least 30 cases of such recruitment attempts on video games, Telemundo reported, citing the Mexican cyber police. The cartels often message players who are online at times their parents are likely not around to start coaxing them, using terms like ‘n4arc0’, ‘c4rt3l’ or ‘zic4ri0s’ to bypass potential blocks on the games.

“We have identified a situation that is worrying us that girls, boys and adolescents are not denouncing these behaviors that are manifesting for fear of being scolded by their parents, of being exposed within society and being singled out,” Director of the Cyber Police in Oaxaca Mauricio Valdez told Telemundo.

Ernesto, a 13-year-old gamer, was recruited to keep watch of the border, according to Telemundo. He and his friends were recruited by a man who went by the name Moreno, who also played the video game with them and later talked with them on WhatsApp. (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: DEA Officials Directed To Stop Saying ‘Mexican Cartel’) They later discovered Moreno was a member of the Northeast cartel, who offered the group of kids between the ages of 11 and 14 $800 a month to move from Oaxaca to Monterrey to work as cartel scouts, according to Telemundo. Their jobs would be to notify the cartel bosses to the presence of law enforcement at the border. If they succeeded in that task, the group could go on to sell drugs, Moreno promised, according to Telemundo.

“He told us that they were going to put us in a tree or a mountain to see how many police or military officers were going there. We were going to count how many went inside. They told me that after I was a scout they would promote me, and, when I was ready, they would teach me how to shoot,” Ernesto said.

After Ernesto disappeared to Monterrey, his mother notified authorities and began searching for him, Telemundo reported. He was later rescued by police, who arrested one woman involved in the operation.

The Northeast cartel, also known as Cartel Del Noreste, was formed from the los Zetas cartel and is known for the trafficking of guns and drugs, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Opinion: It Wasn’t Just Mental Illness; There’s Another Sickness Infecting Gamers

Commentary By Bryan Chai | August 27, 2018 at

Let me preface this entire thing with two notes: First, I am an avid video game player. I’ve been playing video games since I was six, and I’ve easily played thousands of hours worth of video games. Second, I am a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment. Few things are more fundamentally American than the right to keep and bear arms. In short, I love my constitution and I love my video games.

Unfortunately, the two of them became intertwined in the worst possible way on Sunday in Jacksonville, Florida, when 24-year-old David Katz shot up a Madden football game tournament and killed two people before turning the gun on himself.

To the utter surprise of absolutely nobody, this tragic event somehow became a political issue instead of an indictment against the evil humans are capable of.

There were those who predictably jumped on the anti-Second Amendment train, calling for the logistically impossible task of banning guns. In turn, that triggered a defense mechanism from the other side who immediately wanted to blame violent games.

Both fringes of the spectrum are wrong on this matter.

As has been noted ad nauseam, you can’t regulate the evil that lurks in people’s hearts. Taking away freedoms has never been the answer to any question worth asking.

Equally as obnoxious are people who want to scapegoat violent video games. Madden is a football video game, which is a fairly far cry from the likes of “Grand Theft Auto,” and is rated “E” for “Everyone” by the ESRB.

Considering it’s impossible to regulate evil intent, let me posit something that’s actually worth regulating since the mainstream media is too preoccupied with wanting to ban guns or violent media.

As competitive video gaming, or “eSports,” continues to grow, alongside the proliferation of streaming platforms like Twitch, which creates unprecedented access, fame and money to gamers, perhaps it’s worth looking into whether or not that entire scene needs to be regulated and looked into.

Mental welfare checks, psyche evaluations, limits on practice time and meaningful punishments for toxicity are all things that professional or competitive video gamers need at this point.

Guns are already regulated through permits and licenses. Video games themselves are regulated by the ESRB and sometimes the government.

I have never been a “professional gamer,” but I know the scene well. I have close friends who would consider themselves pros or at least Twitch gamers. I’ve dabbled in competitive video game tournaments here and there.

I can say, unequivocally, that the competitive video game scene is insanely toxic. It’s one of the primary reasons I stick to single-player video games. I’d rather play “Zelda” and have some music playing in the background than play “Call of Duty” with a prepubescent punk yelling racial obscenities at me.

Video gamers as a whole are probably not the most well-adjusted people. Thrusting the most avid of players (in other words, people who likely have the worst work-life balance) into prominent public spotlights is unlikely to lead to anything good.

Going back to violent games, there have been no conclusive studies correlating violent games to aggressive actions. You know what types of video games do trigger aggressive actions? Competitive ones.

The American Psychological Association published a study that found gamers were more likely to have aggressive responses to a competitive video game than a violent one.

It makes sense. As history has proven, whether it’s steroids in baseball or any number of New England Patriots-related scandals, competition often brings out the very worst in people. Bringing the worst out of people who aren’t well-adjusted is a recipe for disaster.

Toxicity within gaming culture is hardly a novel problem. Companies like Blizzard and Riot Games have been trying to regulate the overwhelming toxicity in popular competitive games like “Overwatch” and “League of Legends,” respectively, for a while now. It’s mostly been lip service with a couple of band-aids thrown in. Perhaps more stringent and significant change can come from them now.

If there’s one positive thing to emerge from the horrible tragedy in Jacksonville, perhaps it’ll be an honest and introspective look from my fellow gamers. We can, should and, apparently, need to be better.

If I could have two television shows and two movies on a desert island, they’d be “The Office,” (the American version) “Breaking Bad,” “The Dark Knight,” and “Die Hard.” I love sports, video games, comics, movies and television. And I guess my job, too.

Nintendo Promises to Push Gay Agenda on Children

Progressive left has politicized same-sex movement and fashioned the gay lifestyle into a civil rights movement

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver on HBO has given a boost to the next wave of progressivism politics – the effort to mainstream homosexuality and fashion a civil rights movement around the “equality” of same-sex marriage. Oliver’s segment on the #Miiquality campaign draws attention to a push designed to normalize the gay lifestyle in video games geared toward children, specifically the eight-thirteen year old demographic.

Earlier this month, the Japanese company Nintendo declined to introduce same-sex marriage in “Tomodachi Life,” a life simulation handheld video game marketed to children over the age of eight. Following the #Miiquality push (Mii is a digital avatar used in the game), Nintendo said it “never intended to make any form of social commentary with the launch of” the game.

THE AGE OF EIGHT! Can you name an 8 year old that can comprehend homosexuality? This is more of the Socialist Left “Social-Engineering” efforts to brainwash Americans Children.” JB

The company, however, later stated in future releases of the popular game they will “strive to design a gameplay experience from the ground up that is more inclusive, and better represents all players.”

The push to introduce homosexual marriage in video game content is part of an aggressive agenda to normalize and force cultural acceptance of a lifestyle many Americans oppose on religious and moral grounds. The progressive left has politicized the same-sex movement and has fashioned the forced acceptance of the gay lifestyle into a civil rights movement. Indoctrinating children is key to the movement and this is why video game content is targeted.

“They claim homosexuality is normal. Then why work so hard to change everyone’s minds, and shove their lifestyle choices down our throats?” JB

“Children, like soft wax, are very malleable,” Soviet propaganda during the Stalinist period declared. “We must rescue children from the harmful influence of the family… We must nationalize them. From the earliest days of their little lives, they must find themselves under the beneficent influence of Communist schools.”

In much the same way the progressivist left believes children must be nationalized and rescued from reactionary Judeo-Christian ethics. In order to normalize what was previously considered aberration behavior, the left is pushing the gay agenda into avenues of mass media, television, cinema and video games.
