Details of the fatal shooting of yoga and spiritual healing teacher Justine Damond have been released. It is being reported that Officer Mohammed Noor acted alone when fatally shooting Damond, and his partner was ‘stunned’ when he opened fire.

Officer Matthew Harrity was in the driver’s seat during the incident. He was speaking with Damond after she phoned 911 to report a sexual assault that occurred near her home. At this time, Noor reached across him and shot her in the abdomen.

According to a police source, Harrity was ‘left stunned’ by Noor’s actions.

Clearly Harrity did not view the woman in question as a posing threat, which makes Noor’s motive for shooting Damond all the more suspicious.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, BCA, investigating the incident, is remaining tight lipped about what happened late that Saturday night until they finish interviewing Noor and Harrity as part of their probe.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Minneapolis Betsy Hodges is demanding to know why neither officer had their bodycam turned on at the time, which she called a ‘key question’ for investigators.

Mohammed Noor, 31, has since offered his ‘condolences’ but demanded everyone respect his privacy after opening fire on the 40-year-old yoga instructor.

Justine Damond is a teacher at the Minneapolis Lake Harriet Spiritual Community, who teaches meditation classes and spiritual healing. She is hardly a suspect you would imagine being fatally shot down by police. Yet, it happened.

Relatives, friends and even the mayor are demanding answers. They want to know why she was killed in the first place and why the officer who shot Damond didn’t have his/her body camera on.

“I mean ask anybody here, they’re shocked,” said Corey Birkholz, a student of Justine Damond. “It doesn’t seem like she’d be the kind of person to get shot in an alley,” Birkholz said.

His feelings were shared by more than 200 people who gathered for a vigil Sunday near the spot where Damond died hours earlier.

“A woman who you met her — was just peaceful,” a neighbor at the vigil said.

Investigators with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) said that at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, a 911 call was made about a possible assault in the area.

The involved police officer fired their weapon, killing a woman.

A man who identified himself as Damond’s son said in a Facebook video that she’s the one who called 911 after hearing a noise in the alley near their home.

“She thought something bad was happening and next thing I know, they take my best friend’s life,” Zach said in the video.

Investigators said both officers had body cameras, but neither were on.

“I don’t know anything about the law or police work to that extent but to me, it seems really stupid. You have a body camera, aren’t you supposed to use them? asked Birkholz.

Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges made a statement saying, “I share the same questions other people have about why we don’t have body camera footage of it, and I hope to get answers to that in the days coming.”

Investigators said the squad car video was on but didn’t capture what happened at the scene. The detectives said they’re trying to figure out if any video evidence of what happened exists.
