CBS News, Margaret Brennan host of Face the Nation, is one of the more fair liberals left in the media. ON Sunday she interviewed CEO of the 22,000 member hospital group AdventHealth, Terry Shaw who reported that they are ready to deal with the virus.
In her questions, even Brennan couldn’t resist trying to hype up the virus but Shaw calmly reported some encouraging news for the Orlando area.
Brennan asked Shaw if his hospitals and morgues are being overwhelmed. Shaw reported that things in Florida are stressful but they are “not at that point.” Shaw explained, “We have a stockpile of ventilators, and we have an amazing clinical team that have taken best practices from around the globe and put them into our treatment protocols. And I’ll give you an example, our length of stay in our ICU for COVID patients has dropped in half. The number of people coming into our hospital with COVID that need a ventilator, we’ve also been able to cut that in half, and because of those things, our death rate has also been cut in half over that time period. This disease is only seven months and our clinical team has done an amazing job determining how to care for people better today than they were just even three months ago.”
Shaw also informed Brennan that in March and April his group went out and stockpiled as much PPE as they could get their hands on.
Shaw reported that their hospital system is running about 85 to 90 percent capacity and are prepared to make more space if they need more ICU beds in all 30 of their Florida facilities. He noted that adult ICU bed availability across the Orange County hospitals is at 24% and the ICU length of stay for the Wuhan virus and death rate has dropped in half. Shaw also reported that AdventHealth received another treatment of the drug remdisivir that is helping treat coronavirus patients.
Usually the media, only bring on politicians or their own medical experts to comment on the coronavirus, they start gaslighting (i.e., manipulate (someone) by psychological means into questioning their own sanity.), and that induces fear. Shaw didn’t shy away from the fact that things are stressful and people are getting sick but, calmly instilled confidence that they can handle it.
Here’s another great example, the Republican Governor of Mississippi, Tate Reeves had a very honest discussion about how he is going to lead his state. Reeves addressed herd immunity and believes that what it would take to get there quickly would overwhelm the hospitals in their state. Instead, he is going to continue with social distancing guidelines and wants everyone to wear a mask to curb the spread so hospitals don’t get overwhelmed. You may not agree or like his conclusion however, Reeves calmly addressed the situation and explained how the state is going to move forward. We need more of Reeves and Shaw’s calm honest communication and less of “we are all going to die”hysteria from the media, you can read Tate’s full thread below where he lays out his case.
Deputies kill half-brother of black man found hanged in park
Robert Fuller’s half-brother was stopped just north of L.A. by deputies tracking him for numerous alleged crimes including kidnapping and opened fire, authorities said.
The half-brother of a black man found hanged in a Southern California park was killed by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies Wednesday after, they say, he opened fire on them.
Detectives with the sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit were tracking a man who was wanted for kidnapping, spousal assault and assault with a deadly weapon but when they tried to stop his car, he opened the door and began shooting, authorities said.

READ THE ARTICLE. This is the type of media click bait headline civil people in a civil society should call out. Where’s twitter support? I thought they were in charge of flagging misleading content. Publisher? …platform? No wonder the public at large is confused.

You may have seen the video since over 6 million people have. The nurse was bawling her eyes out because she was forced to quit her job because the hospital she worked for allegedly was making her take care of coronavirus patients without a mask or protective clothing because the hospital lacked the resources and her claiming she was determined to continue nursing but at a hospital that was supplying protective equipment.
It was a great story, which CBS was promoting to the hilt, The only thing that could have made it better would have been if there was even a small shred of truth to it. CBS loved the narrative, so they didn’t bother vetting her story. Unfortunately, the entire story was built lie upon lie.
First of all, she had taken a leave from her job in an effort to be an internet “model”. She returned to that job for only one day but quit to become a blogger and :”influencer.” Guess which party. The hospital did only assign her 1 patient with coronavirus and they did provide her with safety equipment, which the hospital said they have plenty of. No one was asked to care for patients without personal protection, including a mask.
“I quit my job today,” Vera says in the viral video, tears streaming down her face. “I wanted to work, and I was assigned to a COVID patient on an ICU unit that has been converted to a designated COVID unit.”
“None of the nurses are wearing masks,” she claimed, “not even surgical masks in the hallways when they’re giving report to each other.”
“I had my own N95 mask,” the woman continued. “I told my manager, I understand we’re short on supplies, but let me protect myself, let me feel safe. I have family that I have to come home to, and the way things are looking, this isn’t gonna get any better.”
CBS, which apparently picked up the video from the blogger’s heavily trafficked Instagram page, added sad music and a video caption: “This nurse had to make a difficult decision in order to protect herself and family members with pre-existing conditions.”
CBS News posted a follow-up “clarification” on Monday: “Imaris Vera, the nurse in this video, clarified her experience on Monday in a tweet: ‘We were each assigned 1 N95 per 1 covid patient’s room but was not allowed to wear it outside of the room, wear our own N95 mask around the Nurses station or Halls, which I came prepared with.’”
“The hospital, Northwestern Medicine, acknowledged that Imaris Vera had quit her job, but referred CBS News to Vera as to the details of why,” the news outlet added.

During an appearance on a podcast last week, CBS News correspondent Lara Logan said, “This interview is professional suicide for me.”
Boy, she wasn’t lying. In a moment of bravery or serious miscalculation, Logan decided to tell the truth. And it wasn’t about anything salacious — an extramarital affair, fabricating a story, anything like that. Instead, she said what we all more or less know: The media is biased toward the left.
The CBS correspondent, best known for her reporting from war zones, had made the appearance on the “Mike Drop” podcast with former Navy SEAL Mike Ritland, who had said that the media was “absurdly left-leaning,” a “huge f—— problem” and a “disaster for this country.”
“I agree with that. That’s true,”Logan said.
“The media everywhere is mostly liberal, not just the U.S.,” she said, according to Newsbusters. “But in this country, 85 percent of journalists are registered Democrats. So that’s just a fact, right?”
“Visually, anyone who’s ever been to Israel and been to the Wailing Wall has seen that the women have this tiny little spot in front of the wall to pray, and the rest of the wall is for the men,” she said.
“To me, that’s a great representation of the American media, is that in this tiny little corner where the women pray you’ve got Breitbart and Fox News and a few others, and from there on, you have CBS, ABC, NBC, Huffington Post, Politico, whatever, right? All of them. And that’s a problem for me, because even if it was reversed, if it was vastly mostly on the right, that would also be a problem for me.
“My experience has been that the more opinions you have, the more ways that you look at everything in life — everything in life is complicated, everything is gray, right?”she continued. “Nothing is black and white.”
When it came to the liberal sameness of the media, Logan said it represents problems when it comes to trust: “How do you know you’re being lied to? How do you know you’re being manipulated?”
I would argue that most people, at this point, have realized that they’re being lied to, but that’s neither here nor there. And it wasn’t just media: Logan said that “creating one ideological position on everything throughout your universities, throughout academia, in school and college, in media, and everywhere else, that’s what concerns me.”
Logan also cast doubt on so-called “grassroots” political campaigns.
“We don’t even question if what we see on social media is real or not. We don’t even question if a grassroots movement is really grassroots,”she said.
“You know, there’s a way to start a grassroots movement. You write an algorithm, and you create all this outrage, and you’re basically throwing out all the sparks that light the fire, so then it becomes a grassroots movement because it takes nothing to set that in motion. But did it really begin as one? And if it didn’t begin that way, but was manipulated and paid for by someone and serves someone’s political purpose, is it really what we believe it is?”
And there were other truths to be served up: “We’ve become political activists, and some could argue propagandists, and there’s some merit to that,”she said, later adding that, “Responsibility for fake news begins with us.”
As for the president: “For example, the coverage on Trump, all the time, is negative,”she said.
“There’s no mitigating policy, or event or anything that has happened since he was elected that is out there in the media that you can read about, right?
“Well, that tells you, that’s distortion of the way things go in real life.”
She also went off on single-sourced stories: “We have a few conventions — because they are not really rules — but you need at least two first-hand sources for something, right? Those things help keep your work to a certain standard. Those standards are out the window. I mean, you read one story or another and hear it and it’s all based on one anonymous administration official, former administration official. That’s not journalism. That’s horses—. Sorry. That is absolute horses—.”
That’s also basically a compendium of ways to commit career suicide. The media is all supposed to say they’re objective. Democracy dies in darkness, right?
The facts are the facts, however. The media is almost uniformly left. Outlets like ours, The Daily Wire and Breitbart are outliers and act as correctives, but there’s only so much we can do when arrayed against broadcast networks, newspapers and cable channels. This is the unalloyed truth — and that’s why it’s going to get a lot of pushback at CBS and with other media outlets.
