Cop Who Responded To Deadly Crash Stands In Parents’ Place At Son’s Graduation

 |  By

A local police officer helped turn tragedy into triumph for a high school graduate.

Less than a week before Kazzie Portie’s high school graduation, Orange, Texas, police officer Eric Ellison had the difficult assignment of telling the 18-year-old that his parents had been killed in a car crash. Portie told Ellison he didn’t know what he was going to do about the upcoming graduation ceremony, but Ellison told the teen he had his support.

“I said, ‘You are going to walk!’” Ellison told BuzzFeed News. “Your mom and dad will have front-row seats looking down from heaven, and I’ll stand in their place. I’ve got your back.” At the ceremony on Friday, Ellison embraced Portie on stage, and the audience responded with a standing ovation.Screen Shot 2015-06-02 at 10.33.31 AM

Portie’s parents, Riley and Emily Portie, were struck by a pickup truck while riding their motorcycle on May 24, and the driver of the truck is currently facing two charges of intoxication manslaughter, KBMT reported. Ellison, who responded to the scene of the accident, told the news outlet that breaking the news to 18-year-old was one of the hardest tasks he’s faced in his career.

But on Friday, Portie received his diploma at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School in front of a cheering audience.

Seeing Officer Ellison there to congratulate me meant the world to me,” Portie told BuzzFeed News. “It was so nice to see that he actually showed a genuine care for me and my family’s situation instead of us just being another ‘case.’”

The image of Ellison and Portie embracing on stage has gone viral, but Ellison has made sure the special moment has stayed focused on Portie.

“The life struggles you see out here, it was rough on the kid, on the family,” Ellison told KBMT. “Sometimes life is not fair but you have to go on and I think Kazz is going to do that.”

Wedding photos going viral are routine – thousands appear in an online search. But a viral prayer image? Not so much.WeddingPrayer-470x599

But that’s exactly what is happening with the image of U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Caleb Earwood, 21, holding the hand of Maggie, 22, then his fiancée but now his wife.

Photographer Dwayne Schmidt captured the moment when the two wanted to pray together before their ceremony, but didn’t want to be seeing each other before their vows.

It reveals her standing next to the corner of a building, her left hand reaching out to hold his hand. He is standing at the same corner, but facing away from her, and his right hand reaches behind him to touch hers.

He is praying. She holds her right hand to her face, touched by emotion.

Schmidt posted it on Facebook, where he said it was a unique moment.

“I have photographed a lot of weddings. This has to be one of the best things I have ever got to see, much less photograph.”

Commenters joined him.

“WOW! PRECIOUS. Always put God first!” wrote Shannon Conner.

“My eyes filled with tears!!!” said Marcela Pulido.

“We were about to take our first steps in life together, and we didn’t want to take a step without it being in God’s will. I prayed to God for my beautiful and intelligent wife that he blessed me with and the amazing family I was marrying into,” he said.

Maggie added, “When I first grabbed his hand, he was shaking really bad, so I knew he was really nervous. It relieved me to know the person I was getting ready to marry felt the same way about God.”

The report said the two grew up in Asheville, North Carolina, were friends in his school, and began dating several years ago.

We’re thankful that our picture is able to bless so many people and touch that many hearts,” Caleb told USA Today.

It already has circled the globe. The Daily Mail explained they “kept their eyes closed and turned away from one another as family members brought them together for a prayer on Saturday before their Memorial Day weekend wedding.”

Tens of thousands of Facebook users have “liked” the picture since it was posted.

Beautiful picture. It brought tears to my eyes,” said Rebecca Warren Helms. “The bride is showing some raw emotion and love. You captured how affected she was by his words.”

The wedding was at a pavilion at Camp Daniel Boone in Canton, North Carolina.

Josh Duggar in child-molestation scandal

My two cents

I don’t understand why this is a news story published by WND.com. I do not know why this ever came up, or why Josh Duggar has become a target of the Leftist thugs. No matter. If in fact he has been a thorn in the sides of the Leftist thugs, then this is strictly motivated by the Leftist hatred of Christians, and Christian organizations, because as we all know for certain, none of them have the innocence to cast the first stone.

Jerry Broussard of WhatDidYouSay.org

Josh Duggar, the 27-year-old eldest son of “19 Kids and Counting” stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, has responded to reports he was once accused of molesting five underage girls while he was a teenager.

“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends,” Duggar said in an exclusive statement to People. “I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life.”

Duggar has resigned from his position as the director of the lobbying arm of the Family Research Council in Washington D.C., as a result of the accusations becoming public, reports People.

“Today Josh Duggar made the decision to resign his position as a result of previously unknown information becoming public concerning events that occurred during his teenage years. Josh believes that the situation will make it difficult for him to be effective in his current work. We believe this is the best decision for Josh and his family at this time. We will be praying for everyone involved,” Family Research Council President Tony Perkins said in a statement.

Joshduggar

“I would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions,” said Duggar. “I sought forgiveness from those I had wronged and asked Christ to forgive me and come into my life. In my life today, I am so very thankful for God’s grace, mercy and redemption.”

Duggar’s parents issued a statement of support:

“Back 12 years ago our family went through one of the most difficult times of our lives,” Jim Bob, 49, and Michelle, 48, said in a joint statement. “When Josh was a young teenager, he made some very bad mistakes, and we were shocked. We had tried to teach him right from wrong. That dark and difficult time caused us to seek God like never before.”

Their statement continues, “Even though we would never choose to go through something so terrible, each one of our family members drew closer to God. We pray that as people watch our lives they see that we are not a perfect family. We have challenges and struggles every day. It is one of the reasons we treasure our faith so much because God’s kindness and goodness and forgiveness are extended to us – even though we are so undeserving. We hope somehow the story of our journey – the good times and the difficult times – cause you to see the kindness of God and learn that He can bring you through anything.”

Jim Bob Duggar informed the elders of his church about Josh’s actions and they waited a year before contacting authorities.

The information is contained in a Springdale, Ark., police report obtained by In Touch magazine through a Freedom of Information Act request.

The report stated the elder Duggar told police he was alerted in March 2002 by a female minor that Josh — who turned 14-years-old that month — had been touching her breasts and genitals while she slept. This allegedly happened on multiple occasions. In 2006, Jim Bob told police that in July 2002, Josh admitted to fondling a minor’s breasts while she slept. Duggar was investigated for multiple sex offenses — including forcible fondling — against five minors. The police report alleged Duggar had assaulted four of his sisters and a fifth underage female three to four years earlier. Some of the alleged offenses investigated were felonies, according to In Touch.

According to the 2006 police report, the investigation began when the Duggars traveled to Chicago’s Harpo Studios to appear on “Oprah.” An email from a 61-year-old in Rogers, Arkansas, to the studio on Dec. 7, 2006, alleged that a member of the family had molested his sisters while they were sleeping. “I think that you should know the truth before they make a complete fool of you and your show,” the person wrote.

Duggar, his parents and the victims were interviewed by police five days later in Arkansas.

Duggar’s wife Anna said he confessed his “teenage mistakes” two years before proposing marriage and that counseling her husband received “changed his life.”

“I was surprised at his openness and humility and at the same time didn’t know why he was sharing it. For Josh, he wanted not just me but my parents to know who he really was – even very difficult past mistakes.”

Teacher allegedly let students have sex in his storage closet….

“He told my son you can have it from 7:30 to 8:30. Did you tell the girl what’ s going to happen, that she cannot tell anybody? Basically don’t tell anyone I’m allowing you to use my room,” she said, paraphrasing the messages.

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (WSB) — A teacher in Georgia is out of a job and facing charges for allegedly allowing students to have sex in his classroom’s closet, officials said. A parent told PIX11 News sister station WSB she has proof the sexual escapades took place with the teacher’s knowledge.

“I was in a state of disbelief when I read all these messages,” the mom, who asked to remain anonymous, said.

She said she looked at her 14-year-old son’s phone and discovered a shocking exchange of text messages last week between him and Quinton Wright, a math teacher and coach at Champion Theme Middle School in Stone Mountain, Ga.

“Basically he’s allowing the students to have sex in a storage room in his classroom,” the boy’s mom said. She went on to read some of the texts between her son and allegedly the teacher. “He told my son you can have it from 7:30 to 8:30. Did you tell the girl what’ s going to happen, that she cannot tell anybody? Basically don’t tell anyone I’m allowing you to use my room,” she said, paraphrasing the messages. The mother said the teacher also sent her son a calendar showing teachers’ schedules and a txt saying he did not have condoms.

“It’s very sickening and disheartening, because we trust administrators and educators when we drop our kids off at school,” the mom said.

She pulled her eighth grader from school, contacted the principal and went to the police to file a report. The Dekalb school system removed the 25-year-old teacher from the classroom. A judge issued an arrest warrant for Wright on Monday. There’s no word yet on what specific charges he’s facing.OARLogo Picture6

BREAKING: Natalee Holloway’s Father Makes Major Announcement Confirming New Eyewitness Report

waving flagReported by Katie McGuire Katie McGuire

A major announcement from Natalee Holloway’s father regarding the *alleged* eyewitness that has come forward, claiming to have seen another man carrying her body. He didn’t come forward because of his own involvement in criminal activity. But what he has to say will shock you about Natalee and the location of her body:

nataleeholloway

Jurrien de Jong said that he saw Joran van der Sloot carrying Holloway’s body on the night of her disappearance. He claimed that he didn’t come forward earlier because he had been involved in criminal activity.

Inside Edition reported:

De Jong goes on to say that he witnessed Joran van der Sloot, the main suspect in Natalee’s disappearance, carrying Natalee’s body on the night she disappeared. He states, “I saw that Joran was chasing Natalee into a small building under construction. In about five minutes he came out with Natalee in his arms, and slammed the body of Natalee on the floor, and then he made an opening in a crawl space…I knew she was dead.”

Dave Holloway said that he recently went to Aruba with a canine to search for his daughter, but that they weren’t permitted to search “restricted areas.”

Holloway told Gretchen Carlson that he went on Google Earth and pulled up the exact location where the alleged witness claims he saw van der Sloot and Natalee.

“Lo and behold, [the location] was under construction at the time,” Holloway told Carlson.

“Things are starting to make sense now,” he said of de Jong’s claims.

Hopefully, this father can finally get some closure on the loss of his baby girl . I can only imagine how I would feel if it was one of my precious babies. I hope that you find the answers that you seek and that you can finally lay your baby to rest.

Why We Stand for Life

waving flagBy: Tasha Troy , Posted: Wednesday, May 13, 2015

  mommy can you feel me

“Their story underscores how precious and valuable each little life is. “

– Tasha Troy

Born at 26 Weeks Weighing Under 2 Pounds, This Happy Girl Shows Why We Stand for Life.Picture15 Picture14

When David and Becky Sherwood of St. Louis, Missouri talk about the value of life, it is not theoretical. Their daughter, born at just 26 weeks gestation, has been a precious gift – yet it has not been an easy road. Becky is also my sister; in walking with her as she takes on each challenge, I have gained a deeper appreciation for the value of life. Becky Sherwood’s daughter Riley was born at 26 weeks gestation.

As Congress considers a bill today that (when enacted) will save thousands of pre-born lives, Becky recounts how her beautiful micro-preemie baby girl came into the world… and the struggles she’s overcome in her life so far.

Bound4LIFE: Becky, what was your journey to becoming a mother?

Becky Sherwood: David and I got married in November 1999. After trying for several months, we became pregnant with our first child in 2008. We were so excited to welcome this new little person into our family; she was due just in time to be our Christmas present!

We went through the preparations many expecting parents go through – choosing a name, selecting baby furniture, buying baby clothes, and setting up the nursery.

Bound4LIFE: When did you first find out something was wrong?

Becky Sherwood: From the beginning of my pregnancy, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. Other than that, I was very healthy. However, as a precaution, my doctor was monitoring me closely.

As I approached the end of my second trimester, I was referred to a maternal-fetal specialist to be closely watched for possible signs of preeclampsia. Other than the elevated blood pressure, I had no other symptoms.

Bound4LIFE: Tell me about the day Riley was born.

Becky Sherwood: The afternoon of September 16, 2008, I was scheduled for a check-up and ultrasound. At that appointment, the specialist believed my blood pressure was high enough to put me on bedrest. At any other time of the year, this might not have been such an issue, but this happened two weeks before the biggest conference event for my employer (I work in the conference department).

I knew it was terrible timing, especially at that crucial time. I started to cry, knowing how much work still needed to be done.

By the time I got home from that appointment, I was in the worst pain I had ever been. It was late enough that I had to call the doctor’s exchange; it became so severe that my husband insisted on taking me to the emergency room.  Upon arrival, we discovered that my blood pressure had spiked to 210/110. After some quick tests, it was confirmed that I had severe preeclampsia – necessitating an emergency C-section.

Within just one hour, our Riley was delivered at just 26 weeks gestation with a birth weight of only 1 lb. 15 oz.  Riley’s arm was so small, she “wore” David’s wedding ring at first.

Bound4LIFE: What were you praying on that day – and do you believe God has answered?

Becky Sherwood: That day, my body was in shock and my mind was barely keeping up. I didn’t panic, and truly didn’t understand what was happening to me until weeks later, but my prayer that night was: God, please save me and my baby.

He truly answered. God placed me in the care of some of the top maternal-fetal doctors in the nation, at a hospital with one of the top neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), and they did an amazing job caring for me and Riley.

Bound4LIFE: What were some of the repercussions of such an early birth?

Becky Sherwood: We knew that there was a long road ahead. Though we were blessed that her lungs were fully formed and functioning, Riley still needed to be on a ventilator on-and-off for the next few months. She was born before her brain remembered to take breaths, so sometimes she had to be “reminded.”

From jaundice to feeding issues, the first few months were sometimes terrifying, nerve-wracking and heartbreaking. But there were beautiful moments too. We will be forever grateful for the support of family, as well as the nurses and doctors who supported us through nearly four months in the NICU.  Riley has been through many rounds of physical therapy. At approximately 3 months, we discovered Riley had some microscopic cysts in the left side of her brain that caused her to neglect to use her right side.

The normal pathway the brain would use to send signals to the right side was disrupted, and it was going to take ongoing physical therapy in every stage of her development.

Just before Riley came home from the hospital we discovered she had a slight hearing loss and would need hearing aids.

Bound4LIFE: Without realizing it, moms may dream of having a “perfect” baby. As it became clear Riley wouldn’t fit society’s view of “perfect,” what was going on inside you?

Becky Sherwood: I can’t lie, I was devastated and had to go through a period of mourning – which really didn’t even begin until we brought Riley home and the reality of what it all meant started to set in.

I had to come to terms with the fact that what I “planned for” was not what was going to happen. But we would still have an amazing journey with Riley – even better than what we had planned – and that we could even let God use our pain and experience to help others.

Bound4LIFE: How is life different since she came home from the hospital?

Becky Sherwood: We are fortunate to live in the State of Missouri, which provides great support for families of babies with low birth weights including various therapies and educational opportunities.

Today, Riley is a smart, creative, thriving six year-old who loves to travel. She is a voracious reader in a mainstream kindergarten – and is at the top of her class.

Most people would never know it, but she still struggles with some of her physical challenges and continues to work hard at her physical therapy. I know there are more struggles ahead. Yet she is the most determined little girl, full of love and compassion. She truly is our miracle baby.

Through this six-year journey, I have developed a deep respect for Becky’s faith and strength of character, and I am so proud of Riley. Their story underscores how precious and valuable each little life is.

14-Week-Old Unborn Baby Starts Clapping in the Womb as Parents Sing a Nursery Rhyme

She said, “At our 14 week ultrasound our baby was clapping, so I sang a song with our doctor as my husband filmed. The experience is one I’ll never forget. The baby clapped three times, then the doctor rewound and scrubbed it while we sang. No mystery. It was amazing.”

As LifeNews previously reported, a recent study published in Infant Behavior and Development revealed that babies in the womb are able to recognize words and even remember nursery rhymes if their mom repeats them between weeks 28 and 34.

Another study published in the February 2014 Pediatrics suggested that the more words a preterm baby hears while in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), the more they respond with sounds of their own. This means that preemies could be developing speech patterns in the NICU. Additionally, the study found that an increased amount of parent talk was linked to higher language and thinking scores when the babies were older.

Great Story to Prove Why We Need a Law Prohibiting Abortion AFTER 20 Months

The Life and Death of Baby Walter is Changing The Abortion Debate

Posted by Nancy Flanders, Mar 26, 2015, Washington, DC

URL of the Original Posting Site: http://www.lifenews.com/2015/03/26/the-life-and-death-of-baby-walter-is-changing-the-abortion-debate/

(LiveActionNews) — It took a long time for Michayla, age seven, to deal with the loss of her baby its timebrother, Walter. Michayla still proudly speaks of him, telling strangers that she has two sisters here, and a baby brother in heaven. At 19 weeks gestation, Michayla’s mother, Lexi Fretz, miscarried Walter. At the time, Fretz, her husband, Joshua, and their two daughters were hundreds of miles away from home. They had traveled for a wedding where they were both guests, as well as photographers. Then the unthinkable happened – Fretz went into labor.

Baby Walter may have only lived outside the womb for a few moments, but his life has had a lasting impact. He saved others from abortion, and helped pro-abortion individuals see the preborn as human beings deserving of life. But Walter’s family had to move on with their lives without him, starting with the long trip home.20 wk ban

“Having to travel 600 miles home having just given birth, and dealing with traveling kids and postpartum me wasn’t fun,” Fretz said. “And then when I got home, I had lots of support from family and friends, and the community as they found out, too – church and everyone else. We kept on living and trucking along, and doing what we had to do.”

A picture of Walter on Fretz’s Facebook page quickly spread, and she began to pen Walter’s story and the impact of his short life. Today, well over a million people have seen Walter’s photos.

“It still blows my mind,” Fretz said. “I never expected that when I put those pictures up, or the story up – just seeing how God would use our pain. So many women don’t get the answer to why. Everyone wants to know, Why, God? Why did you do this? Now I know why. I have seen Walter’s purpose. That has helped my husband and I, and our healing.”

People around the world continue to tell the Fretz family that they ended up choosing life for their babies because of Walter. One note that stands out to Lexi is from a woman not too far from home.mommy can you feel me

Baby Mia. Images courtesy of F2 Photography by Lexi.

“There was a lady in a town next to ours who was sitting in an abortion clinic with her daughter,” Fretz said. National death rate percentages“She was ready to go through with it. She said the whole time, she was thinking she shouldn’t be doing this. She went online while she was sitting there, and she saw Walter, and she started to cry – and they got up and left.”

While Walter’s photos made their way across the globe, Fretz discovered she was expecting another child.  She was thrilled, but the pregnancy had some frightful moments. Fretz was diagnosed with an incompetent cervix, which can lead to premature labor. She had surgery at 13 weeks gestation to place a permanent band around her cervix, and it was a success.

This fall, the Fretz family welcomed their third daughter into the world. Mia, now nearly seven months old, joins Emma and Michayla.

“They were thrilled to find out about Mia,” Fretz said. “We bought a cake, and my husband had [the baker] write ‘baby’ on the top, and our oldest was just starting to read. It clicked, and her face lit up. They were ecstatic. They would come up, rub my belly and say, ‘Mommy, I hope this baby doesn’t die’.”

The Fretz family’s lives are full of the color pink, plenty of glitter, and princesses – and two little girls who are in love with their baby sister. Both girls endured the loss of their brother through difficulty, especially Michayla. They still discuss Walter, and Michayla tells her parents that she misses him and wishes God did not take him away. The girls and their parents are proud of the difference Walter is making.

“For someone who survived so few minutes outside of me, he’s left such an impact, more than I ever could,” Fretz said. “For someone so tiny, he’s touched so many. I hope he keeps educating the world and the masses as to what the preborn looks like on the inside – that it’s not just a blob – it’s not a clump of cells.”20 wk ban

Abortion Activist Throws Firebomb at Pro-Lifers Praying at Texas Abortion Clinic

Melanie Toney has been arrested for the alleged assault

“Yesterday evening toward the end of the daily prayer vigil, a passerby threw a flaming object at the prayer volunteers.  Fortunately no one was injured and the flames were put out quickly,” the group said. “This is not the first time people have thrown objects at pro-lifers but clearly this instance was a more direct threat, and we always want to exercise caution.”

“The prayer volunteers handled the situation very well – one took a photo of the license plate of the vehicle, another called the police and her Day Captain to report the incident.  The police soon caught and arrested the female driver.  Eventually KXAN News came out and interviewed one of our brave volunteers, Ruth,” the group added.

UPDATE: Local news sources indicate a Melanie Toney has been arrested for the alleged assault.

A woman who police say threw a Molotov cocktail at a group of women praying in front of a Planned Let GodParenthood clinic on Monday evening is charged with aggravated assault. Austin police and members of the bomb squad responded the location on E. Ben White Boulevard received the call shortly after 6 p.m.

According to the executive director of Central Texas Coalition for Life, the group was able to record the suspect’s license plate number before she drove away, which led police to 52-year-old Melanie Toney. Toney was pulled over less than three miles away from the clinic.

When officers interviewed Toney, she initially denied everything but later admitted to throwing the bottle and that it “might” have been smoldering when she threw it out of her window, according to an affidavit.

The local news station has more on what happened and the arrest of the perpetrator:

Police arrested a driver Monday night who they say threw a flaming object from a car near the Planned Parenthood clinic on East Ben White Boulevard near South Congress. Austin police received the call shortly after 6 p.m., and members of the bomb squad responded. No one was injured and nothing was damaged, police said.

KXAN spoke to Ruth Allwein, a member of pro-life campaign 40 Days For Life, Monday evening. Allwein said she was praying outside the clinic when a driver threw the object at her.

“I realized she was throwing something out the window and it was on fire,” Allwein said. “So I backed away and turned around to see if I could tell what the car looked like, but I couldn’t.”

Police could only provide initial information Monday night and were unable to confirm all of the details provided by Allwein.Picture14

The pro-life organization continued: “The safety of our volunteers is of utmost importance which is why it is necessary to have at least 2 people praying at all times.  Our approach has always been that we have a peaceful prayerful attitude and be aware of our surroundings, which is what these volunteers exemplified.   Let us pray for all involved.  Thank you to everyone who boldly takes a stand for life!”

Bristol Palin engaged to Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, and the left goes bonkers!

In a development that’s already driving the hatemongers on the left insane, Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol got engaged Friday to Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Dakota Meyer.

Meyer, 26, was awarded the highest U.S. award for bravery for saving the lives of 36 of his fellow soldiers during an ambush in Afghanistan in 2009, according to NBC News.

“He’s wonderful with Tripp and I’m so proud to be marrying him,” the bride-to-be wrote on her Patheos.com blog.

“He’s so romantic! He asked me to marry him at a Rascal Flatts concert,” Palin added. “The lead singer, Gary LeVox, dedicated ‘Bless the Broken Road’ to us, and Dakota got down on one knee and proposed!”

Palin, 24,  shared the happy news with her followers on social media:

The former governor of Alaska explained on her own Facebook page that the couple met last year when Meyer, whom she describes as a “good and kind man,” was in Alaska to film an episode of Palin’s reality TV program “Amazing America.”

“Our families couldn’t be happier for Bristol and Dakota!” Palin wrote.

“Yes, God working behind the scenes to turn beauty from ashes,” she said. “Had tough circumstances in their lives not occurred, and had they reacted differently to those circumstances, they’d have never met.”

National: 12-Year-Old Bravely Rejected Abortion After Rape, She Has No Regrets 23 Years Later

Posted by Sarah Zagorski, Feb 27, 2015, Washington, DC

She said, “If abortion wasn’t going to heal anything, I didn’t see the point. I just knew that I had somebody inside my body. I never thought about who her biological father was. She was my kid. She was inside of me.”

liannarebolledo

Now Lianna, 35, says she has no regrets about choosing life for her child and that her daughter has helped her overcome suicidal thoughts. She said, “It was really hard, but just to see that little person telling me how happy she was that I gave her her life. When she said that — and she was only four years old when she told me: ‘Mommy thank you for giving me life’ — I realized that she was the one who gave me my life back.”

She concluded, “In my situation, two lives were saved. I saved my daughter’s life, but she saved my life. Even though [the rape] was a very hard moment, if I had to go through that [again] just to know and to love my daughter, I would go through that again. She’s always been there for me. She’s the only person who has shown me a real love. And I always will be grateful.”liannarebolledo2

International: As His Girlfriend Was Inside Preparing for an Abortion, Boyfriend Rushes in to Save His Baby

Posted by Shawn Carney, Feb 27, 2015, Washington, DC

In Birmingham, England, pro-life advocates outside abortion clinics there report three babies saved from abortions and one fascinating story of a boyfriend who rushed inside an abortion center to save his unborn child from abortion.

As 40 Days for Life staffer David Brando relates:

Very good news from England … as already the Birmingham team reports three saves so far!

One couple told prayer volunteers they had a one-year-old and were worried they couldn’t cope with another child so soon. “They were going to have an abortion,” Isabel, the local leader said, “but now they had changed their minds.”

Another young couple agreed to go to the pregnancy help center … and they decided to keep their baby.

In the third instance, a young woman was inside the facility while her boyfriend waited outside. The prayer volunteers talked to him, Isabel said, “and he decided to go back inside and get his girlfriend out … and they went off all smiles and waves. God is blessing the hard work and prayers of so many people here!”

As the campaign started, Archbishop Bernard Longley led volunteers in prayer. “He ended with a beautiful blessing which extended to all those who would come and pray there during the 40 days,” Isabel said. “God is blessing the hard work and prayers of so many people here.”

Babies are also being saved in Calgary, Canada:

abortionclinic8

Steve Karlen, our North American outreach director, helped the team in Calgary kick off their campaign.

“As is the case with many Canadian campaigns,” Steve said, “the situation in Calgary is challenging. Because of a court injunction, the vigil participants are required to stand across the street from the abortion center.”

The volunteers “were delighted to hear how the no-show rate for abortion appointment skyrockets when there are people praying in front of the building.”

This abortion facility is not clearly marked … so it isn’t always clear why there are people praying out on the sidewalks. “Nevertheless,” he said, “the campaign in Calgary knows of at least one baby saved through their efforts, which makes is all worth it for them.”

Songwriter for Maroon 5, Nick Jonas Composes The Most Powerful Pro-Life Song You’ve Ever Heard

Singer Sam Martin who co-wrote Maroon 5’s top 10 single “Daylight,” David Guetta’s “Dangerous,” One Direction’s “Change Your Ticket,” and Nick Jonas’ “Wilderness,” wrote a beautiful song about his unborn son. Martin said that when he first found out that his wife was pregnant and saw his son’s heartbeat in an ultrasound, he was moved to compose a song.

His son is due on March 19th. Martin said, “The lyric came right then — ‘I’m going to love you anyway.’ I almost started crying just singing it over and over again. … It was a spiritual experience.” Two months later he finished the full chorus and verses.

Initially, Martin kept the song secret from his wife, Joy, because he wanted to complete it first; however, one day she walked in on him privately practicing it. He told her, “‘You weren’t supposed to hear that — give me 10 minutes. She left and came back; I played it, and then both of us were just sobbing. Uncontrollably crying. She left and came back; I played it, and then both of us were just sobbing. Uncontrollably crying.”

He concluded, “I wanted to do it very simple; this song is all about the lyrics. I didn’t want to distract too much. This song is a rare situation where the label actually liked something that was incredibly personal and meaningful.”

Doctors Said She Was “Incompatible With Life,” When Removed From a Ventilator a Miracle Happened

Posted by Steven Ertelt, Feb 20, 2015, Norman, OK

URL of the Original Posting Site: http://www.lifenews.com/2015/02/20/doctors-said-she-was-incompatible-with-life-when-they-removed-her-from-a-ventilator-a-miracle-happened/

If there is any lesson the pro-life movement could teach the world it’s that one should never give up hope. Whether it’s an unborn baby, an infant after birth, someone who is disabled or an elderly or terminally ill person — the human spirit and the fight for life is often more resilient than even experts would predict.

Here’s another case of a little baby defying doctors’ expectations.

Oklahoma mother Sarah Rodriguez prayed to God to find a way to take care of her little girl, 2-week-old Ellis Rodriguez, who had contracted bacterial meningitis in November and had significant brain swelling as a result. Little Ellis had been placed on a ventilator and doctors informed the girl’s mother that Ellis’ situation was “incompatible with life.”

But that didn’t prompt Sarah to give up hope.

“I said, ‘God, if there’s any way,’” Rodriguez recalled. “‘Thirty days is not enough.’”

As she stood in the bathroom thinking and praying, Rodriguez said she was unimaginably distraught. Having been a Christian her entire life, abandoning God wasn’t an option, but if her infant daughter died, she felt her faith would be forever changed.

“I know that God is real enough that I will never be able to turn my back on him, but I don’t know if I can serve him like I did before,” she remembered thinking. “[Or] if I could ever make sense of that.”

In the days leading up to the removal of the ventilator, Rodriguez said, she held out hope for a miracle, but was profoundly discouraged.

“They told me, ‘It’s worse than we ever thought,’” she said of the day before doctors decided to remove life support. They said there was profound damage to Ellis’ brain. “I took that whole rest of the day and I said, ‘All right, I’m going to say goodbye.’ I cut locks of her hair. I painted her hands and did handprints and footprints.”

ellisrodriguez2

Eventually doctors did remove Ellis from the ventiallor and expected the worst, but Sarah hoped for the best.

Rodriguez, 33, who lost her husband, Joel, to kidney cancer in 2013, was left with no other choice but to take the child — a baby she had barely had the opportunity to get to know — off of life support just one month after her birth.

She walked out of the bathroom, mentally prepared to say goodbye. But as doctors removed Ellis from life support, allowing the grieving mother to hold and comfort her baby, Rodriguez said something miraculous happened.

Ellis began breathing on her own, which medical professionals previously told her would be highly unlikely.

“For the first hour I was rocking her. I read her a story, because I had never gotten the opportunity to give her a story,” she said. “I’m giving her permission to leave. I was telling her, ‘You get to meet your daddy today’ — [trying] to make transition as peaceful as it could be.”

Sarah’s little girl didn’t respond the way doctors predicted.

But Ellis continued breathing, defying the very prognosis that was supposed to render the child “incompatible with life” — and the baby continues to beat the odds months later.

“They said, ‘We don’t think your child would ever breathe, but if she did happen to live, she would be a vegetable. She won’t ever be a normal,” Rodriguez recalled. ”And what we’ve found is just the opposite. She had four different follow-up appointments. Every single one said, ‘We’re not seeing signs of damage with this child.’”

A physical therapist, too, said that developmentally speaking, Ellis is right where she should be, with one doctor telling Rodriguez that her daughter is “absolutely laughing in the face of medicine.”

ellisrodriguez

Now, Sarah is raising money online to help Ellis with her future medical care.

The story of Ellis Claire Rodriguez’s life has been one of miracles! You can read all about this sunshine girl’s latest miracle at http://journeyofsarah.com.

There are many future unknowns for this family, in terms of the care needed in the coming months. We want to rally around them in support, especially for her mom, Sarah, who is her sole caretaker.

As we rejoice in the progress Ellis has made, which is truly miraculous, please consider supporting this family through a financial gift to help cover the growing medical costs.Freedom with Prayer

Three Muslim students shot dead execution-style ‘by neighbor who had ranted against religion’ in fight over parking at UNC Chapel Hill

By Claire Carter and Lydia Warren For Dailymail.com

A man allegedly shot dead three Muslim students execution-style near to the University of North Carolina campus on Tuesday after posting anti-religious sentiments online.

Craig Stephen Hicks, 46, shot dentistry student Deah Shaddy Barakat, 23, his new wife Yusor Mohammad, 21, and her sister Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19, in their heads over an ongoing parking dispute at their quiet condominium complex in Chapel Hill around 5pm, police said.

But the women’s father, Dr. Mohammad Abu-Salha, said even though parking might have triggered the killings, Hicks had long targeted the family because of their religion and culture.

‘It was execution style, a bullet in every head,’ Abu-Salha told the News Observer. ‘This was not a dispute over a parking space, this was a hate crime.Picture2

Dr Abu-Salha, who has one other child, added that police told him Hicks shot the three inside their apartment.

Hicks, who is married, turned himself in ‘without incident’ after the killings and is currently being held in Durham County jail on three counts of first-degree murder.

On Wednesday morning, he kept his head down as he appeared in an orange jumpsuit at the Durham County Detention Center. He is being held without bond.

Police say that he is cooperating, and that their preliminary investigation showed that the parking dispute was the motive.
There have also been questions over whether Hicks’ anti-religious stance – which he freely shared on social media – had also been a factor in the murders.

On a Facebook page in his name, Hicks shared a number of anti-religion posts, describing himself as a supporter of ‘Atheists for Equality’. A banner about ‘anti-theism’ is prominent on his page.

Hicks posted a photo from United Atheists of America on February 8, which has the title ‘why radical Christians and radical Muslims are so opposed to each others’ influence when they agree about so many ideological issues’.

Most of the pictures he has posted in recent months criticize a number of religions, including Christianity. Other recent pictures he has published include one of a loaded revolver.

In one post allegedly written by Hicks and shared by CNN, he wrote: ‘When it comes to insults, your religion started this, not me. If your religion kept its big mouth shut, so would I.’

When they arrived they found three people dead. They had been shot in the head, CNN reported.

According to their Facebook pages, Mr Barakat had married his wife just over a month ago and was a second year student at the dental school at the University of North Carolina.

The last picture on his Facebook page, posted on January 29, said he helped provide free dental supplies to 75 homeless people in downtown Durham.

The couple had organised an online fundraiser to get dental care to refugees from Syria, raising around $15,000 – but after news of their deaths, the total reached more than $23,000

Mr Barakat was due to travel to Turkey in the summer to treat children who have become refugees following the civil war.

Last month, he tweeted: ‘It’s so freaking sad to hear people saying we should ‘kill Jews’ or ‘Kill Palestinians’. As if that’s going to solve anything SMH [shaking my head].’

His sister-in-law Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha had been studying for a degree at North Carolina State University in Architecture and Environmental Design.

After their deaths, Barakat’s brother Farris paid tribute to the trio on Facebook as he struggled to comprehend the killings.

He added: ‘We live as Muslims to die as Muslims. May Allah enter them to the highest of paradise.’

Following news of the deaths a hashtag #MuslimLivesMatter started trending on Twitter.

Burcu Bozcurt wrote: ‘Hate will not prevail. Three beautiful souls taken, but examples of their love & impact on others abounds. #MuslimLivesMatter #chapelhill’

And MohaNNad said: ‘Remember them like this. Deah and Yusor had names, dreams and families. #MuslimLivesMatter.’

The couple are only thought to have been married for just a month and were fundraising for Syrian refugees

People called for action to be taken with some speculating that the attack could have been religiously motivated.

A Facebook tribute page has been set up for the victims, called ‘Our Three Winners’. It says: ‘Deah Barakat, Yusor Abu-Salha and Razan Abu-Salha have returned to their Lord. They have set an example in life and in death.’

It noted that funeral arrangements will be announced after they receive news from the medical examiner, who will carry out an investigation and release the bodies.

The shooting took place in the Finley Forest complex – a typically quiet area home to students.

Bethany Boring encountered police cars, crime scene tape and people upset in the street when she went to walk her dog.

She told WRAL: ‘It’s a very quiet community. It’s a lot of graduate and professional students. You know, professional’s families.’

A campus crime alert from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was sent to students. The complex is located near campus.

About two hours after the shooting a group of young people arrived at the scene and sat on the pavement, apparently waiting for news of the names of the people who had been killed. Police later turned away people in tears, claiming to be relatives.

The Chapel Hill Police Department said in a statement there was ‘reason to believe that there is no ongoing threat to the public’.

The school added in a statement: ‘We are sensitive to the impact an incident of this nature has on campus and in the community.

‘We understand you want to know the facts as quickly as possible. At the same time, we must respect the job our Chapel Hill police have as they investigate this crime.

Pit Bulls get a bad rap a lot of the time. I don’t believe that any breed is just mean simply because of the breed, they are mean because people raise them to be mean.  The average Pit Bull weights about 40 pounds and intimidate many people… well, imagine this one coming after you… all 173 pounds of him. New Pampers Ad Celebrating Babies : The Most Powerful Pro-Life Video You’ve Ever Seen

by Katie Yoder | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com | 1/29/15

While the upcoming Superbowl ads count on puppies and scantily clad women for views, Pampers is counting on something infinitely more precious: babies – both born and unborn.

Pampers’ new ad, “A Newborn Journey of Firsts,” boasts almost 950,000 views on YouTube since its release earlier this month. With the video’s focus on multiple babies, Pampers aims to show how “every first is significant no matter how small they seem” – “[f]rom the first scan to the first cuddle.”

From the beginning, the video shows a sonogram of a baby giving her first “hello” with a heartbeat playing in the background. The ad progresses to show the touching journey of babies’ and parents’ “firsts” together – from “Your first tears of joy” to “Her first word.”

vidpampers

Pampers’ description of the video reads:

From the first scan to the first cuddle, every first is significant no matter how small they seem. For both baby and mom, it’s a journey full of firsts. And there’s nothing more rewarding than experiencing each and every one together.

pampers2

For the pro-life movement, Live Action News’ Kristi Burton Brown credited the film for showing the “beauty of human life at its various stages.”

But even the pro-choice Huffington Post acknowledged the “dazzling reminder that new parents and their babies are in this thing together” via Caroline Bologna. “The ad captioning reminds parents what makes this crazy ride totally worth it,” she wrote.

It’s impossible to deny the beauty of even these little human beings – and Pampers’ video makes that all the more difficult for the pro-choice media to ignore.

Woman Sold Her Baby for Sex Multiple Times, Man Took Porn Images of Child

by Steven Ertelt | Gary, IN | LifeNews.com | 1/28/15

URL of the Original Posting Site: http://www.lifenews.com/2015/01/28/woman-sold-her-baby-for-sex-multiple-times-man-took-porn-images-of-child/

Last year, an Indiana woman admitted to authorities to selling her baby for sexual relations multiple times. Natisha Hillard, then 25, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court on accusations that she sold her baby to a man for sex multiple times and was present for all but one of the transactions. Reports indicate Hillard pleaded guilty to one count of selling a child for sex and two counts of allowing a child to take part in child pornography.

Hillard admitted under questioning by her attorney, Visvaldis Kupsis, that she met Christopher M. Bour through a dating service in 2011 and that they agreed to meet at her place. That was when Bour started asking her about two children she had access to, both girls, who were 4 months and 3 years old at the time. The crimes lasted from September 2011 until February 2013, when an acquaintance of Bour alerted the FBI that he had been asking her to take part.

She agreed with statements by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jill Koster that she can be seen on images found on Bour’s computer showing him sexually touching the child with Hillard in the background. She also let Bour take sexual pictures of the older child at least once, Koster said. Koster said that Hillard told law enforcement after she was arrested that she agreed to sell the children to Bour because she needed money and that Bour paid her extra for the last encounter to be alone with child.

natisha2

Now, Bour has been ordered to pay the child restitution in the case:

A man convicted of purchasing an infant and using her and her sister to make child pornography was ordered Monday to pay $75,000 in restitution to the girls for mental health counseling.

Christopher Bour, 41, argued he owed no restitution in part because he didn’t distribute the pornography and the girls are unlikely to remember the abuse because of their young ages.

U.S. District Judge Rudy Lozano found Bour’s defense that he didn’t distribute the pornography to be “ludicrous.”

Lozano also cited a licensed clinical psychologist’s report, which said that while an infant “may not retain a ‘cognitive memory’ of their abusive experiences, they are likely to sustain numerous later difficulties based on that ‘betrayal in infancy.’” The psychologist said support from a mental health professional is essential for a person who was sexually abused or exploited as a child to deal with possible reactions to the abuse.

A letter written by the psychologist estimates each girl will need counseling once a week for five to 10 years. Each session typically costs $125, the letter says.

Lozano ordered about $8,300 in proceeds from the sale of Bour’s Gary home to be surrendered as a partial restitution payment.

Lozano sentenced Bour in May to life in prison. He is incarcerated at the U.S. Penitentiary Tuscon in Arizona.

The girls’ mother, Natisha Hillard, was sentenced in June to more than 24 years in prison for her role in the abuses. Hillard agreed to pay $12,500 in restitution for each of the girls.

Abortionist Loses Medical License, Botched Abortion Left Baby Stuggling in Toilet Trying to Live

by Steven Ertelt | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com  1/19/15

URL of the Original Posting Site: http://www.lifenews.com/2015/01/19/abortionist-loses-medical-license-botched-abortion-left-baby-stuggling-to-survive-in-toilet-trying-to-live/

New information has surfaced today of a Florida-based abortion practitioner who recently lost his medical license. He is responsible for killing babies in abortions and injuring women — and for one horrible botched abortion case that left a baby born alive in a toilet struggling to survive.Picture14 Picture15

A few years ago, abortion “doctor” Zvi Harry Perper was arrested and charged with enriching himself by illegally writing and selling prescriptions for powerful painkillers. He was eventually jailed for his crimes.

Now, following a lengthy bureaucratic process, a pro-life blogger indicates Perper has finally lost his medical license.

Back in July the Florida Medical Board issued an emergency suspension of abortionist Zvi Harry Perper’s medical license. According to the Florida Medical Board website, the Emergency Suspension Order was filed 7/23/14.

But a Voluntary Relinquishment Pending Board Action was filed September 10, 2014. The order was not on pro-life radars, because, this particular “doctor” was sitting in prison when the emergency suspension was issued.

harryperperPerper is one of 17 people who was snared in a sting operation authorities conducted that netted 17 people on charges of engaging in an illegal drug racket, but his association with abortion was not lost on pro-life blogger Jill Stanek, who wrote about him in connection to an infamous abortion case years ago.

“In 2005 he was the abortionist on call when beautiful Baby Rowan was tragically aborted alive in James Pendergraft’s Orlando late-term abortion mill,” she said. “Finally, [there is] some semblance of justice.”

Perper is the abortion practitioner who began the abortion procedure in a case that result in the suspension of the medical license of another abortion practitioner, James Pendergraft. The latter was fined $10,000 and had his licensed revoked for one year over an illegal late-term abortion he did in 2005.Third of our generation

In 2005, a woman filed a lawsuit against one of Pendergraft’s abortion facilities saying it refused to call emergency personnel to help her or her baby, born on the second day of a two-day abortion procedure. The pro-life law firm Liberty Counsel filed complaints with the Florida Department of Health and the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration and alleged that staff at the abortion facility, including Perper, refused to help Angele or her baby, born on the second day of a two-day abortion procedure.

SIGN THE PETITION! Congress Must Ban Abortions Because Babies Feel Intense Pain

Angele had chosen the “labor and delivery process” for her abortion as opposed to partial-birth abortion or dismemberment. She thought it would be less harmful for her unborn baby. The woman, who is in her 30s, had asked what would happen if the baby were born alive.

“I wanted it to be as humane and painless as possible for my son,” Angele told WorldNetDaily. “They told me they would guide a needle directly into his heart and it would put him to sleep, and he wouldn’t feel anything.”

harryperper2Following her initial visit to the abortion facility, she could feel the baby still moving within her. The next day she took pills meant to induce labor.

I waited outside, cramping and crying, for the clinic to open. My contractions were close. I had been having them for hours. I knocked repeatedly at the door,” Angele told WorldNetDaily.

After she obtained access to the abortion facility, she delivered her son.

“In one agonizing push, I felt and heard something come out. Then immediately another push. I was weak. I just held my head in my hands for a moment. Then I decided to stand up. I looked. There was my baby, the whitish cord and what I thought surely must be the placenta,” Angele said.

Angele added, “I started sobbing and lay down (on) the floor. I stared and stared at my son. I was horrified that I had just had him in a commode.”

Angele then screamed for help for her son, whom she called Rowan. When an abortion facility employee finally arrived, she refused to call 911 for the baby, who was still moving. Angele ended up calling a friend, asking her to call an ambulance. But Rowan died before help arrived.

HERO Cat Saves Abandoned Baby Left in Street! [VIDEO]

In Russia, where apparently babies are left in the street in boxes, a neighborhood cat is being hailed as a hero for saving the life of an abandoned baby. The “communal” cat climbed in next to a little baby boy left in a box outside, keeping the child warm and alerting a neighbor with constant “meows”..

The neighbor said of the cat; “She is very placid and friendly so when I heard her mewing I thought that perhaps she had injured herself because normally she would have come and said hello to me. You can imagine my shock when I saw her lying in a box next to a baby..”

From The Mirror: As well as making sure the three-month-old didn’t freeze to death, the moggy (cat) raised the alarm by crying out to make people aware of the boy’s presence. Irina Lavrova, 68, who lives near to where the tot was dumped in Obinsk, Russia, was throwing out rubbish when she heard Masha the cat meowing near the bins.

Girl Who Walked Away From Deadly Plane Crash Learned Survival Skills From Dad

Seven-year-old Sailor Gutzler, who was the sole survivor of a plane crash that killed four members of her family, learned survival skills from her father, according to relatives.

After the plane crashed in western Kentucky on Friday, Sailor was able to emerge from the wreckage and walk to safety, authorities say.

Lt. Brent White with the Kentucky State Police said in a press conference, “What she knew … was something to the effect that the plane was upside down, her family onboard was unresponsive. She utilized her non-injured arm and hand to free herself from the aircraft.”

Will Carr reported on “America’s News Headquarters” that authorities are saying it’s a miracle that the little girl walked away from the crash with only a broken arm.

Authorities say that Sailor got out of the plane, which was on fire from the crash, and walked nearly a mile in rough terrain and freezing rain.

Eventually, she ended up outside local resident Larry Wilkins’ house.

“She told me that her parents were dead,” Wilkins said earlier today on “Fox and Friends Weekend.” “I asked her how she knew that and she said, ‘I tried to wake them up and I couldn’t wake them up.'”

Carr reported that authorities have confirmed that both Sailor’s parents died in the crash, along with her 9-year-old sister and 14-year-old cousin.

According to authorities, everyone was still strapped in their seats and appeared to be bracing for impact, except for the father. It’s unclear if he had his seatbelt on or not.

Carr reported that Sailor was taken to a hospital, where a family member eventually picked her up and took her home.

Carr also reported that NTSB investigators are on the scene and said they will release an initial report in the next 10 days.

A Gutzler family spokesperson has issued a statement asking for prayers for the entire family moving forward, especially Sailor.

The Real Christmas Story

Jesus is the Reason for the Season

All Scripture References are from the New International Version

John 1:1-3; 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

(After the fall of man); Gen 3:14-15; 14 So the LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, “Cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

Gen 49:10; The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs and the obedience of the nations is his. Num 24:17; “I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob; a scepter will rise out of Israel. He will crush the foreheads of Moab, the skulls of all the sons of Sheth.

Isa 7:14; … the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. 9:6-7; 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. Mic 5:2; “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” Dan 9:25-26; 25 “Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble.

Luke 1:26 In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. 31 You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.”

34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. 37 For nothing is impossible with God.”

38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her.

39 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, 40 where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!”

56 Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.

Matt 1:18-25; 18 This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. 19 Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”-which means, “God with us.”

24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he had no union with her …..

Luke 2:1-20; 2:1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to his own town to register.

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

John 3:16-21; 16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.   19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.”

John 1: 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. …. 9 The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God- 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

15 John testifies concerning him. He cries out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.'” 16 From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father’s side, has made him known.

Heb 2: 9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.  10 In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering. 11 Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers. …. 14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death-that is, the devil- 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. (1 John 3:8b; The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.)

16 For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. 17 For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.

1 Peter 1:19-21; 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. 21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

Rom 10:8-13; 9 …. if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”   12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile-the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

1 John 1; That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched-this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We write this to make our joy complete.

5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.

1 John 2:1-2; My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense-Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

1 Tim 3:16: “…. He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.”

“‘Twas the Night Before Jesus Came”

Twas the night before Jesus came and all through the house

not a creature was praying, not one in the house.

Their Bibles were laid on the shelf without care,

in hopes that Jesus would not come there.

The children were dressing to crawl into bed,

no one ever kneeling or bowing a head.

And mom in her rocker and baby in her lap,

were watching the late show while I took a nap.

When out of the East there rose such a clatter,

I sprang to my feet to see what was the mater.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

tore open the window and threw up the sash.

When what to me wondering eyes should appear,

but Angels proclaiming that Jesus was here.

With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray,

I knew in a moment this must be the day.

The light in His face made me cover my head,

it was Jesus returning just like He said.

And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,

I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.

In the Book of Life which He held in His hand,

was written the name of every saved man.

He spoke not a word as He searched for my name,

when He said, “It’s not here.” My head hung in shame.

The peoples whose names had been written with love,

He gathered to take to His Father above.

With those who were ready, He rose without a sound,

while the rest were left standing around.

I feel to my knees, but it was too late,

I waited too long and thus sealed my fate.

I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight,

Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.

In the words of this poem the meaning is clear,

the coming of Jesus is drawing near.

There’s only one life and when comes the last call,

we’ll find that the Bible was true after all.

There are Two More Heroes in Heaven this Christmas.

Officer Wenjian Liu and Officer Rafael Ramos

Two days ago, two young men, two men who gallantly protected the freedoms many of us take for granted were senselessly, needlessly assassinated in cold blood by a coward, a being who cannot even be called a man because what he did was not manly, it was a cowardly unwarranted attack on two men who were working overtime and eating lunch while wearing the uniform of the NYPD.

These heroes, Officer Wenjian Liu, was married just two months ago. Officer Rafael Ramos had two sons.

Ramos and Liu were shot with “no warning, no provocation” shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday as they sat in their patrol car in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn by the lowest form of humanity. I will not even mention his name here, as he does not deserve to have his name mentioned in the same thought as these two heroes.

As the son of a 29 year police veteran, let me tell you from a child’s point of view about these heroes.

My pop, or as he was known, “Joe the Cop” came into my life years after my father passed away when I was not yet three years old.

He was my big brother, my best friend, my priest, my rabbi, my teacher my role model. He made me the man I am. He passed away in 1999, but is still with me every day!

Policemen leave their house every day, and their family members realize that they may not come home. These heroes realize that when they kiss their wife, their children, or their parents goodbye, it may be for the last time.

They realize that in this profession, the calling in which they chose to protect us, there may be no tomorrow.

But to be ambushed and assassinated by a “coward” who bragged moments before that he was about to kill two policemen is not what they signed up for. There are Two More Heroes in Heaven this Christmas.

When you eat lunch today, tomorrow or the next day, remember that is all these two heroes, Officer Wenjian Liu and Officer Rafael Ramos were doing!

On behalf of all the sons and daughters of all the men and women who serve this great nation of ours, as members of Police Departments all over the country, I am asking you to please take two minutes to honor these two heroes and send a check to the NYC PBA Widows and Children’s Fund.

NYC PBA Widows and Children’s Fund, and send it to the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, 125 Broad Street, 11th Floor, New York, NY 10004-2400.

There are Two More Heroes in Heaven this Christmas.

Thank you,
Steve Castleton, son of “Joe the Cop”

Author Describes the Shocking Thing She Saw Watching Abortions for Book Research

by Sarah Terzo | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com | 12/18/14

Author Magda Denes witnessed abortions for her book In Necessity and Sorrow: Life and Death Inside an Abortion Hospital:

“I am drawn to the unit, irresistible, by my reactions of disbelief, sorrow, horror, compassion, guilt. The place depresses me, yet I hang around after working hours. When I leave, I behave outside with the expansiveness of one who has just escaped a disaster. I have bad dreams. My sense of complicity in something nameless grows and festers. I consider giving up the research…

ultrasound4d5bI remove with one hand the lid of a bucket…I look inside the bucket in front of me. There is a small naked person there floating in a bloody liquid- plainly the tragic victim of a drowning accident.

But then perhaps this was no accident, because the body is purple with bruises and the face has the agonized tautness of one forced to die too soon.

Death overtakes me in a rush of madness…I have seen this before. The face of a Russian soldier, lying on a frozen snow covered hill, stiff with death and cold….A death factory is the same anywhere, and the agony of early death is the same anywhere. I take the lid off all the buckets. All of them. I reach up to the shelf above this bucket and graveyard tabletop and take down a pair of forceps….With the forceps I lift the fetuses, one by one.

I lift them by an arm or a leg…Finally, I lift a very large fetus…I look at the label.

Mother’s name: Catherine Atkins; Doctor’s name: Saul Marcus. Sex of item: Male. Time of Gestation: Twenty-four weeks. I remember Catherine. She is seventeen, a very pretty blond girl…This is Master Atkins- to be burned tomorrow- who died like a hero….Might he have been the only one to truly love her?”

CHRISTMAS HEROES: Parents Fighting Anti-Christian Agendas

Written by Kevin Fobbs on December 13, 2014

URL of the Original Posting Site: http://clashdaily.com/2014/12/christmas-heroes-parents-fighting-anti-christian-agendas/

How ironic that as children all across the nation prepares to take part in various Christmas season events that they, in far too many cases, will not be allowed to actually celebrate Christmas. But to be honest, it is far more serious than just celebrating Christmas. Each day millions of students are sent by their parents off to build a solid academic base as well as learn about our American values in school. Those values and principles are built upon Judeo-Christian beliefs. In 2013 there were over 400 biblical principle attacks on children who wanted to read a Bible before or after school or even during lunch break and were denied.com02

When your child returns from the Christmas holidays will he or she still have to learn and embrace the teaching of Islam in the classroom, but have the teaching of biblical history overruled? What happens when the topics your child may be learning are ideals and values that marginalize how you have raised them and articulate an agenda that compromises your family’s religious beliefs? This is not something that can be overlooked simply because the child is heading home for a Christmas break.Confused

Actually this serves as the best time to discuss and share what your beliefs are and reinforce the reasons why you will stand up for them when your child returns to school in the New Year. Don’t accept the erroneous church and state separation argument that liberal school officials try to jam down the throat of Christian parents. Your child has U.S. Constitutional rights and they must be protected.

In 2014, it has become an unfortunate circumstance in far too many communities across America that conservatives and parents of faith find themselves locked out of a parental support system like the school’s parents’ organization. Instead of assisting the parents by standing up for their interests and the interests of their kids, the parent organizational members give them cold to lukewarm support.

So it really is upon you;

  • As a parent what are you willing to sacrifice to stand up and protect your child from a school or a school district that is willing to take away or marginalize your child’s values and principles because it is convenient for them?

  • Are you willing to tolerate unfair and illegal treatment of your child?

  • Are you willing to let the politically correct values of liberal parents and secular anti-Christian organizations dominate your life, principles and support of America’s biblical heritage?real heros

America has a culture that rises up from the deep foundational values that guided the founding fathers. We understand that it is America’s heritage found in small towns, big cities and rural communities that give birth to parental heroes whose actions become larger than life. These are the parents that pray over their decisions at their kitchen table, or in the living room or perhaps during the church service. As a responsible parent they take a stand on principle rather than they should turn over their role and responsibility to the offending teacher, principal, submitting to the will of a partial anti-Christian school administrator or local school board member. They are not like others who take the easy route and conveniently swallow their principles and their values.

Be one of those parents who are not just heroes for their children but are truly American Heroes with a capital H. Join and recruit others in your school, neighborhood and church this Christmas season in the nation’s Heartland.

Take a page from Samuel Adams, who was one of America’s Revolutionary Heroes and a Founding Father. Adams’s father was a church deacon and was deeply influenced by him. Adams spoke of lukewarm supporters saying,

“If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

Let liberty and your children and America’s future generations be your guide and your prayer as you celebrate this Christmas season. There is no tranquility in servitude to political correctness, so take off the politically correct chains of convenience that are used to shackle your children. Praise the birth of the Son of God and fight to protect your child and their future in the New Year as their Hero!

Lawmakers: It's OK to say Merry Christmas now
State lawmakers want to remind you that a bill passed last year makes it OK to stay Merry Christmas in schools

AUSTIN, TX (KTRK) — Texas lawmakers are reminding people it’s OK to say Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah in school now. Last year, the Merry Christmas bill was signed into law. It allows people to celebrate religious holidays on campus.

“That allows parents, teachers, students and school administrators to celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah in public schools without fear of censorship, litigation or persecution,” said Representative Dwayne Bohac, who co-authored the bill with State Rep Richard Raymond.

Religious scenes and symbols can now also be displayed on school property.

Watch How Restaurant Patrons React When Teen Tells Girlfriend She Must Get Abortion

by Carole Novielli | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com | 12/8/14

URL of the Original Posting Site: http://www.lifenews.com/2014/12/08/wait-until-you-see-how-restaurant-patrons-react-when-man-tells-girlfriend-she-must-get-abortion/

The TV show What Would You Do has produced an episode of a pregnant women being forced by her boyfriend to have an abortion.

The show uses actors to portray real life circumstances to see how the public would react.

WWYD couple

The interchange occurs inside a restaurant geared for the patrons to overhear the argument to catch their reactions on camera.

In the scenario, the pregnant actor tells her pretend boyfriend she is pregnant.

He gets irritated, accuses her of sleeping around and tells her she has to have an abortion, “You’re ending this pregnancy or I’m ending this relationship,” he insists.

whatwouldyoudo

As she sticks to her decision to not have an abortion, the actor playing her boyfriend abandons her in the restaurant and storms out.

WWYD Girls abortion

A table of girls seated by the couple offers the crying pregnant teen a ride home telling her, “He’s not worth it….you should keep the baby.”

As they reset and do the act again, the patrons appear uncomfortable, “How’d you want me to responds yeah, I’m a daddy now?” the young man says loudly, “You wanna keep this baby? I’m going to show you how to be alone, this is what it feels like,” he says as he storms out of the building.

The pregnant actor sits alone crying until one man goes over to ask if the young pregnant woman is okay and needs a ride, “You don’t deserve that, you know,” he tells her.

She is invited to join he and his mom at their table where she tells them she is 16 and doesn’t want an abortion. Although the man’s mother tells her it will be hard to keep a baby at that age, the sympathetic man intervenes and says, “You don’t know that,” in an effort to be more comforting.

What Would You Do if you overheard this conversation in a public place?

18-Year-Old’s Short Film on Abortion Will Blow Your Mind

by Nancy Flanders | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com | 11/28/14

(LiveActionNews) — One decision can change everything. Mitosis, a short film from 18-year-old director Hannah Victoria (Worth Saving), aims to prove that. It may seem that the choices we make for ourselves will affect us and us alone, but it simply isn’t true. There is always a ripple effect, whether small or large.

Mitosis tells the story of a young doctor, who after making a promise to a childhood friend, sets out to find a cure for cancer. The film, from Victoria’s company Expressionistic Studios, was released on YouTube this week and promises to shine a light on the magnitude of damage each and every abortion could have on the world.

Victoria explains:

As young people, whether we choose to acknowledge it or not, society’s popular opinion on the sanctity of life is directly affecting our lives in huge ways. Just thinking about how profoundly different our world would be if the millions of lives lost were present is mind boggling!

mitosis

The film was funded by generous donations through a Kickstarter campaign. When it reached its goal of $5,000, Victoria announced it would be released for free. The total raised through Kickstarter has now reached $5,200.

hannahvictoriaVictoria, who received a Best Young Filmmaker award for her work on Small Talents, says she has always been passionate about the sanctity of human life and wanted to create a film that showcases the potential that each and every life holds. She also wants pregnancy resource centers to be able to use the film in any way they can to support their work. In its first few days on YouTube, Mitosis has been viewed nearly 1,000 times.

“It is amazing to see the impact it is having just in the few days it has been released,” says Victoria, “I’ve gotten e-mails from people who have had multiple abortions, people who want to thank me for making a film about what their baby could have done, and pro-life supporters who are excited to have this tool to show to those who need to see the message!”

As we know, those who support abortion believe that the only person who is affected by a pregnancy or an abortion is the pregnant woman. Her decision should, they say, have no bearing on the rest of us.

Except it does. And Victoria shows us how in Mitosis.

Today Is Gratitude Day

thanksgiving
Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, 2014, Devotion  by Dr. David Jeremiah of Turning Point Ministries
“I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” (Psalm 34:1; NKJV)
“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise-the fruit of lips that confess his name.” (Hebrews 13:15; NIV)
We often say, “God bless you!” to others without thinking about what it actually means. When God blesses us, He speaks a word of care or favor over us (Psalm 29:11). And when we bless God, we do the same—we speak a good word about God’s many attributes that benefit (bless) us (Psalm 26:12). So when the psalmist says, “I will bless the Lord at all times,” he is saying, “I will continually speak of God’s goodness, kindness, generosity, and other traits.” That is, I will continually manifest an attitude of gratitude toward God for who He is and what He has done.
Do you see this background of blessing in Paul’s words, “In everything give thanks” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)? Not just on Thanksgiving Day, but on every day, we should give thanks to God and bless His holy name for His many gifts of grace to us. Even on challenging days, we can be grateful for the fact that God is with us, causing all things to work together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28).
Let today be a day of thanksgiving for sure. But let every day be one in which you live with an attitude of gratitude toward Him.
”Christian doctrine is grace, and Christian conduct is gratitude.” ~ J. I. Packer

Since Michael Brown Died, 981 Black Babies Have Died in Abortion in Missouri, But There are No Riots

by Steven Ertelt | Jefferson City, MO | LifeNews.com | 11/26/14

URL of Original Posting Site: http://www.lifenews.com/2014/11/26/since-michael-brown-died-981-black-babies-have-died-in-abortion-in-missouri-but-there-are-no-riots/

Riots are taking place across the country in response to a grand jury’s decision not to indict a Ferguson, Missouri police officer for shooting a black teenager. The decision not to bring charges has renewed difficult racial tensions nationwide.

blackbabyYesterday, LifeNews reported how the Planned Parenthood abortion business fanned the flames of racial divide by aggressively opposing the decision in Ferguson.

Though the events in Ferguson have nothing to do with abortion, Planned Parenthood and its pro-abortion CEO Cecile Richards have been very active on Twitter condemning the decision and stoking the racial divide. Ironically, as the abortion giant jumps in the debate, it makes no mention of the fact that it preys on black Americans and aborts black babies at alarming rates.

Today, a pro-life advocate from Missouri put Planned Parenthood’s targeting of black babies in abortion into perspective. She says that while there are riots over the controversial death of a black teen in Missouri, there are no riots over the death of 981 black babies who have died in Missouri since Michael Brown died. She wonders why no one is speaking up for those black victims of violence via abortion.

From Reverend Katherine’s blog:

Today, my native city of St. Louis is under siege; one black man was shot dead by a police National death rate percentagesofficer because he feared for his own life while on duty. The people of Ferguson and surrounding municipalities including St. Louis are looting, setting fires, rolling cars, etc., because of one person.

Since the day that Michael Brown died [Aug 9, 2014], another 981 Black Missourians have died; 9 per day, every day since then. These Black Missourians were unarmed, innocent, and had no ability to defend themselves and died in plain sight. But there is no outrage, no riots, not one protest.

So, while these rioters are trying to destroy my native city of St. Louis because of the death of one Black man, the rioters overlook the fact that just a couple of miles away at Planned Parenthood on Forest Park Avenue, another 109 Black babies have died since Michael Brown.

Why aren’t the rioters at Planned Parenthood defending themselves and their future generations? Why do they allow themselves to be essentially exterminated by abortion but riot over one?

Everyone’s life has value regardless of how many people die or in what circumstances. Michael Brown’s life had value in the same manner as the lives of black babies killed in abortion, yet we’re outraged by the taking of one life and not the other.

THANKSGIVING AND GRACE: Politics Aside for One Day, At Least

Written by Pauline Wolak on November 25, 2014

URL of Original Posting Site: http://clashdaily.com/2014/11/thanksgiving-grace-politics-aside-one-day-least/

George Washington“…that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations, and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally, to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.” – President Washington

George Washington issued the first Thanksgiving Proclamation on October 3, 1789. 225 years later, Presidents are still thanking God for the blessings we have as Americans. Given the current political climate, it’s hard to remember that we are blessed. But remember we must. Just for one day, I will set aside enmity. I will recognize that for all the headlines blazing with heated rhetoric and vitriol, there is good. Life is, despite angry words in sixty point font, full of joy and wonder and awe.

So this Thanksgiving, I choose to thank God. Not with the words of ghosts, but with my own.

I am thankful.

For the overcooked dinner on my table.

For the sometimes leaking roof over my head.

For the lawn that needs mowing and for the driveway that needs shoveling.

I thank God every single day that I am safe inside these four walls. I have the comfort of good food and of a warm bed. I have clean, running water. A reliable car to put into an overflowing garage. Cringing at the thought of rewiring the house, bemoaning the cost of a bathroom remodel, or grumbling through the third coat of paint in the living room; I am mindful of my fortune.

I am thankful.

For the shooting pain of a Lego against a bare foot at two a.m.

For every exasperated pre-teen eye roll.

For laundry that never ends.

For forgotten homework, diapers, late night feedings, skinned knees, and slammed doors.

I thank God for the gift of motherhood. There are days I thought would never end; where falling into bed is the only thing I want. Days that try my patience, my sobriety, and even my faith. But these are the days I am most grateful for. They are the days that taught me strength comes through tears and grace by counting to ten.

I am thankful.

For being reminded every summer what Red Stag did to me once. (Once!!)

For being called out for acting like a jerk.

For phone calls asking for bail.

For texts that wake me up, favors asked, and money borrowed.

I thank God for the gift of friends. I am grateful to be surrounded by the people that have become family by choice, not birth. We have seen each other through the absolute best and worst times. The joy of a new job and the crushing blows of divorce. We’ve mastered the art of fitting three weeks of gossip into a one hour lunch. We’ve drunk to the memory of friends that have left us behind. Weddings, baptisms, graduations, or just another Friday night; the moments that we’ve truly lived we have lived beside each other.

I am thankful.

For being the only Republican at family dinners.

For sitting at the kids table, even at 37.

For the hysterical, dysfunctional, wonderful, odd, and loud.

I thank God for the gift of my family. I thank God my parents picked me at the ripe old age of eleven to join their family. I am grateful that, for all of the crazy, there remains fierce loyalty. The kind of loyalty that is only felt by the people that have seen you at your worst and love you anyway. They accept your flaws and fill your life with frustration and triumph. And they never ask you to stop bringing up politics at the table.

I am thankful.

I am fortunate to call myself an American daughter. I have the freedom to speak my mind, to live and love in the place I choose, to worship God publicly, to work hard and achieve things others can only dream of.

Tomorrow I will be reminded of lives gone wrong, government gone wild, and people gone off the deep end. But, for today, I am thankful.

Does sex ed conference for students go too far?

Some question material taught at annual adolescent sex conference in Seaside

SEASIDE, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Students as young as 11 from across the state have been attending a sex conference held in Seaside, Oregon, for the past 20 years.

Taxpayers’ money is used to fund the program, which is meant to promote safe sex and prevent teen pregnancy. However, a KOIN 6 Investigation uncovered that there’s a good chance the parents who signed permission slips in order for their children to attend have no clue what is really being taught behind closed doors.

Part of the lesson plan at a workshop at the Oregon Adolescent Sexuality Conference is an adult website called Virtual Fem. In addition to the content from that website, numerous handouts, such as one that encourages cyber and phone sex, have been passed out to high school and middle school students in attendance.

The pamphlets go on to suggest other ways students can engage in intimate activities without going all the way, including bathing together, shaving each other, wearing each other’s underwear, role playing, buying an extra-large pair of pajama bottoms to sleep in together, lap dances and strip teases.

Another workshop at the conference focuses on how to pleasure someone else over the Internet.

“Teledildonics basically refers to the control of sex toys over the Internet; the remote use of sex toys,” said keynote speaker Cory Silverberg in an audiotape obtained by KOIN 6 News after the conference from an attendee.

Conference director

When confronted about the graphic content, the conference’s director, Brad Victor, declined to comment about one session in particular about performing sex acts over Skype and whether those sessions could potentially be recorded and used against a student later.

“Is this interview going down this line the whole time? If it is, I’m walking out. I’m serious about this,” said Victor.Liberalism a mental disorder

Victor, a spokesperson and director for Teen Pregnancy Task Force, the organizer of the conference, is partially paid with state funds to put on the program in Seaside.

While he refused to answer KOIN 6’s questions, a student, who wanted to remain anonymous, spoke about what she saw during the conference, calling it shocking.

“I felt really just horrified and unsettled by it all,” she said.

While there was a session on learning how to put on a condom and make a dental dam, a workshop where the speaker brought students to a porn website and taught them to program virtual women really upset the student.

“When you press a certain command, it tells her to perform various sexual acts, um, and so that was very disturbing,” she said.Liberalism a mental disorder

Audio of keynote speaker Silverberg giving detailed directions on how to make an avatar for virtual sex.

“You can program her to do whatever you want to say, if you don’t want to say, ‘give me a blow job or something,” said Silverberg.

Teachers and parents

This conference isn’t just for students. Teachers, school district healthcare workers and school board members, including Lisa Maloney, have also attended.

Maloney was not representing the St. Helens School District, but she said she was concerned by what she witnessed.

“All kinds of speakers about Internet porn, using Internet sex toys, using meth as is shown in this book for when you’re engaging in sex. It encourages using meth because it helps your sexual drive and what not in here,” said Maloney. “It says in this booklet that was handed out and given out to all young people.”

Indeed, a section of the handout Maloney referred to read: “Meth is widely used for a million reasons to have lots of sex with lots of partners for long periods.”

Lori Porter, a concerned mother, also showed other pamphlets distributed during the conference titled “Dry Humping Saves Lives” and “How to Get Your Groove on Fluid Free.” Another gave tips on masturbation.

“Watch porn, lube, do it in front of a mirror, do it while someone else is watching,” said Porter.Liberalism a mental disorder

Still, Victor defended the material and said it is not censored.

“The material passed out at this conference is dedicated to preventing teen pregnancy, preventing STD’s and also developing healthy relationships,” said Victor.Really with logo

When asked whether he thought the suggestions given in the pamphlets prevent teen sex, Victor refused to comment.

“I’m not going to address that question. That question is inappropriate,” he said.Really with logo

State agencies

Victor has two state agencies supporting him and the conference. On the conference website they list the Oregon Health Authority as a sponsor of the conference. A public information request revealed the Oregon Health Authority has spent more than $1000 of taxpayer money for the 2013 and 2014 conferences, according to OHA. That money was spent for staff members to attend the conference.

The Oregon Adolescent Sexuality Conference website also lists the Oregon Department of Education on their steering committee. A public information request revealed ODE has paid Victor more than $800 since 2013. That money is in addition to the more than $4,000 Victor received from the federal government since 2013, the Oregon Department of Education says that money goes to his work supporting districts with aligning instruction to state standards. However, Victor is mostly paid by Wise, a private grant from a private foundation, for working to institutionalize sex education.

Superintendents

KOIN reached out to 16 school district superintendents listed as possibly having students at the conference. Of those contacted by KOIN 6 News, 10 said they were unaware such material was being taught.

Of the 10 superintendents, Newberg School District Superintendent Dr. Kym LeBlanc Esparza was the only one who agreed to speak on the record. When she saw some of the handouts she was clearly discouraged.

“This is garbage, so that’s disappointing,” said LeBlanc Esparza.

Material from the conference shown to her, she said, was a far cry from what she was told would be at the two-day program.

“It’s fascinating because of the documentation that comes out of the Oregon Department of Ed and that comes out of the programs, (that) the organizations put out speak specifically to addressing at-risk kids questions and things to help them make good healthy decisions,” said LeBlanc Esparza.

Wise, the grant behind the conference, also provides the sex education curriculum for the same 16 Oregon school districts who attend the annual conference.

“The individuals are able to take this professional development opportunity back to their workplace,” said Victor.

Some are concerned it is working too well.

In the Wise curriculum, sixth grade students are asked, “How do people express their sexual feelings?” The answers they’re given to choose from include anal sex, oral sex and sexual fantasy.

Concerned parents say it’s too much too soon.

“If it was an adult sex conference, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation, but this is directed to adolescents. We want them to be safe,” said concerned mother Lori Porter.

The next conference

To receive the WISE funding, school districts must attend one of three conferences. So far Woodburn, SKSD, Paisley, Pleasant Hill, Cascade, Clatskanie, Warrenton-Hammond school districts have not turned in the paperwork to attend any of the conferences or to take part in the WISE program at all.

Gervais, Sherwood, Sheridan, Willamina, Bethel, Corvallis, St. Helens, and Sisters have sent in their paperwork to attend this upcoming year. However, when KOIN 6 News contacted St. Helens school superintendent Mark Davalos, he said students will not be attending the conference in the future. On Thursday, the Sherwood district told KOIN 6 News they would not attend.

The Newberg superintendent said the school district will not be sending students. If they go their parents will be taking them, not the school.

“If it’s going to take the route of giving kids information that suddenly our families and our communities are uncomfortable with we’ll have a conversation about what that means for us,” said LeBlanc-Esparza.

The Sheridan superintendent told KOIN 6 News Wednesday the investigation raised serious concerns about the conference and the district is re-thinking its involvement.

The superintendent in Woodburn also contacted KOIN 6 News and said their students will not be attending the conference.

A total of 7 of the 16 Oregon school districts will not be participating in the conference next April.
