Air Force: Christians’ Religious Speech Not Legally Protected Right

Bret BART

by 16 Mar 2014

Christians in the U.S. military are being told they must forfeit their First Amendment rights. Bible verses are being erased from cadets’ personal dorm-room white boards, and military lawyers claim that legal protections for religion only pertain to matters such as clothing and growing beards but do not extend to any religious expression such as talking about one’s faith or posting a Bible verse.

Last year Breitbart News broke the story of a campaign by anti-Christian extremists to suppress traditional Christian expression within the U.S. military. There were conflicting stories regarding the possible court martial of service members who share the gospel of Jesus Christ and confirmed reports of military chaplains being officially censored, as well as Bibles temporarily banned from the Walter Reed military hospital.

After these stories went viral on the Internet, Republicans in Congress launched an investigation, then introduced legislation to specify that religious expression is a protected right for men and women serving in uniform. Although President Obama originally threatened to veto the legislation, those protections were signed into law in December 2013.

Now these new protections are being put to their first test. Military officers at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs are saying that the Obama-Hagel Pentagon does not regard these new protections as encompassing religious speech or writing. As such, cadets are not allowed to post Bible verses on their personal white boards in their dorm rooms.Cadet,

This latest incident occurred when a cadet (whose identity we are not disclosing) posted Galatians 2:20 on his personal whiteboard, posted outside his living quarters in a residential dormitory. That verse reads, “I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

According to media reports, several people at the academy contacted Mikey Weinstein and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, the radical anti-Christian group that had been in communication with the Defense Department under President Obama regarding adopting new policies for religious expression in the military. Weinstein claimed that he called the Air Force Academy to complain about the Bible verse and further claims that two hours and nine minutes later, the verse was gone.

Sources quote Weinstein as saying that having this verse on the outside of the dorm room “clearly elevated one religious faith over all others at an already virulently hyper-fundamentalist Christian institution.” He is quoted as adding, “It massively poured fundamentalist Christian gasoline on an already raging out-of-control conflagration of fundamentalist Christian tyranny…”

Contrary to existing reports, Academy personnel did not erase the Bible verse or order the cadet to remove it.

Breitbart News spoke with Mike Berry, an attorney who is director of military affairs with Liberty Institute. Berry traveled to the Academy last week and met with cadets of different religions. These cadets say these personal messages are traditionally allowed on cadets’ whiteboards. A message might ask to meet for a basketball game or root for a favorite sports team. They claim it is a meaningful exercise in which many cadets include spiritual or inspirational quotes, whether Bible verses, a verse from the Quran, or from football legend Vince Lombardi.

Berry exclusively tells Breitbart News:

We met with Col. Paul Barzler, the Air Force Academy Staff Judge Advocate, to find out what really happened and to ask about the Academy’s policy on religious exercise. It turns out that, contrary to Mikey Weinstein’s claims, the cadet may have voluntarily removed the Bible verse from his white board. But I was stunned to find out that, had the cadet not removed the verse, Academy officials would have ordered him to do so. I asked why, and Col. Barzler explained that, because the cadet held a leadership position, it could create the perception that he was forcing his religious beliefs on subordinates. I pointed out that under the Constitution, federal law, and military regulations, cadets have the right to religious exercise. I was shocked when he responded that Air Force policy, from the Pentagon, is that the term “religious exercise” does not include written or verbal speech. [emphasis added]

Berry then reminded the colonel regarding the specific legal protections service members have, from the Constitution itself, to Acts of Congress, to military regulations. He says of the colonel’s response:

He went on to state that the Air Force interprets [Department of Defense] Instruction 1300.07 to only apply to religious grooming and apparel matters, but not writing a [Bible] verse on a white board or even verbally sharing a verse. This means that, under Air Force policy, cadets and airmen are not free to express their religious beliefs through words or writing. This policy appears to come from a March 2013 Air Force JAG memo that interpreted federal law in that way.

Last week, on Mar. 14, 2014, the Air Force Academy issued a press release regarding this situation. It says, “While we swear an oath to Support and Defend the Constitution of the United States, Airmen are also bound by [military policy].” It references Air Force Instruction 1-1, which was adopted several years ago once President Obama took office and is frequently used to suppress religious speech, especially by Christians. The press release then adds that “sometimes we must put the good of the entire unit before the good of any single individual.”

This press release only makes the situation more alarming to a legal analyst. An Air Force policy instruction carries some force of law, but it is trumped by a Defense Department regulation. Those regulations, in turn, are subordinate to federal statutes adopted by Congress, which for over three months now has expressly provided that religious expression is a protected right. All of those must follow the Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land, where the First Amendment makes both free speech and free exercise of religion fundamental rights for all Americans.

As Berry summarized, “This is a stunning development because it is now clear that the Air Force is interpreting federal law and military regulations in an unlawful way. And it is absolutely shameful because the brave men and women of the U.S. Air Force who make huge sacrifices for our religious freedom are having theirs stripped away.” Hinting at legal action that could be forthcoming, Berry concluded, “This is not only morally wrong, it’s illegal.”

BREAKING: Malay Airline Flight 370 NOT hijacked by Christians

Malaysian plane

There are many rumors afoot about Malaysian Airlines flight 370, but what you won’t hear is that some Christians committing Jesus-jihad had anything to do with it.

The last time a Christian hijacked a plane was 9-9-09, and he was a Bolivian kook. Pretty much since the ’80s, hijacking has pretty much been done by Muslim extremists.

But according to this article, there are nine possibilities of what happened to flight 370:

In addition to the wild speculation by conspiracy theorists, experts and media types are floating a range of ideas as to what might have happened to Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, its 12 crew members, and the 227 passengers on board.

china_hijacking_0310Of course one of the theories is that Muslim extremists hijacked the plane. You’d have to be a politically-correct imbecile to think otherwise, and of course you would be a liar as well. There is no way that thought would not enter your brain.

What’s interesting is the lack of coverage of this theory.

Can you imagine if anybody even remotely considered that Christians had anything to do with the disappearance of this plane? Holy mother of Mary.

Hijacking of planes is almost exclusively the act of crazed Muslims, yet everybody tried just about every technique to AVOID this as a possibility. It’s comical, in fact. It’s almost like how the news goes out of its way to avoid saying that a perp who [insert heinous crime here] is black.

I think it’s because if a perp is black, that means he or she has a 96 percent chance to have voted for Obama, ergo is a DEMOCRAT. But I digress.

I’m going out on a pretty substantial and fruit-filled limb, and going on record to say that I believe Malay flight 370 was hijacked by Muslim extremists. Oh, and there may also be gambling in casinos.

I have HAD IT

Joe the Plumber Banner

“I have HAD IT”

Please…please let me go on a rant. Because every single day, living under this regime, is an outrage.

The Malaysian jet thingy – yeah! Like no one could see that coming! I’ve been warning about something like this for going on…let’s see, 9/11 was in 2001…at least 13 years! And I am just a minnow…no, plankton…in a HUGE OCEAN. I am not saying that all Muslims are like that, and I sympathize with the devout (being a persecuted Christian American in the United States), but Islam has become an international theo-political cult. The people sucked into this cult, involuntarily or because they’ve been indoctrinated, are dead set on conquering the world for Allah, and they will use violence or any other tool at their disposal to get there. Ever heard of taqiyya?

Our culture is rotten.

I read a story the other day about a 10-year old girl who needed a training bra. Her older sister took her shopping and the bras available for that age group were mostly something like push-ups in leopard print. This is a ten year old girl for crying out loud. She’s a child. You know what? If I was a kid growing up right now in the United States of America, I would think that life revolves around sex and health insurance.

Way to go, America.

And you hypocrites In Hollywood. With your kids messed up because you named them “Apple.” You are always on trends about “more misfortunate” people, you don’t have a CLUE. So self-absorbed and CLUELESS. You claim to have the best interest of the children in your heart but by what you dish out, as “entertainment,” you commit child abuse. Every. Single. Day.

Have any of you noticed the salaciousness of commercials lately? Not all of them, thank God most companies still have some class and dignity. But there are a couple…a few?…That are painfully injecting soft-porn into my living room, with no warning. I’ll be watching PG show (for a reason, I shun anything over PG-13) and an R-rated commercial will come on. With no warning. And don’t get me started about how this affecting our young people again.

Adults in my generation are so selfish. We want what we want and to hell with anything else.

Once a generation becomes so absorbed with their own desires, at the expense of the next generation…I think the younger folks have a real reason to be very…revolutionary

Obama and Putin Clash over Ukraine: Empty Words vs. Bullets and Bombs

The clash between President Obama and President Putin over Ukraine is just the latest in a long line of similar clashes between American presidents and Russian/Soviet tyrants.  Several American presidents in my lifetime have been forced to deal with an international crisis precipitated by Soviet aggression.  Each of these crises had the potential to escalate into a world war.

  • President Truman had the Soviet blockade of Berlin to deal with.  He responded with the Berlin Airlift, the greatest logistical feat in history.
  • President Eisenhower had the escalating Cold War with the Soviets.  He responded by initiating a policy of containment, a policy that eventually led to the downfall of the Soviet Union.
  • President Kennedy had the Cuban Missile Crisis, 13 of the most tension filled days in the history of the world.  He responded by quarantining Cuba and forcing the Soviets to remove their missiles from that island nation 90 miles off the coast of the United States.

In each of these cases, the world teetered on the brink of a nuclear holocaust, but was saved by the strength, courage, and resolve of an American president. Now comes the invasion of Ukraine, the first major clash between the United States and Russia since the old Soviet Union imploded.  However, unlike past Soviet/American dust-ups, the Ukraine crisis has little potential for escalating into a world war.  Why? Because at a time when the United States is supposed to be the world’s only remaining superpower, we are powerless.  Unfortunately for the freedom seeking people of the Ukraine, at this critical point in world history America is a strong nation governed by a weak president.  Russia on the other hand is a weak nation governed by a strong president, and that president—Valadimir Putin—neither fears nor respects President Obama.  Put another way, Putin knows he can do what he wants in Ukraine because he has Obama’s number.

  • Harry Truman was small in stature but large in substance, something the Soviet leaders learned the hard way.  Consequently, when they finally realized he would see the Berlin Airlift through to ultimate victory no matter the cost, they caved.
  • Dwight Eisenhower had already earned the grudging respect of the Soviet leaders because of his record of leadership in World War II, one of the main reasons his policy of containment worked.
  • John F. Kennedy, on the other hand, had not earned the respect of his Soviet counterpart, Nikita Kruschev.  As a result of his mishandling of the Bay of Pigs invasion, Kennedy was viewed by Kruschev as a pampered rich kid he could bully.  Of course, the Soviet leader should have studied the PT 109 incident before drawing erroneous conclusions, a humiliating and career ending lesson he learned during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Truman had to contend with Stalin, a bloody tyrant who has murdered 20 million of his own people in purges against intellectuals, priests, and anyone else who might be even remotely perceived as a threat.  They went eye-to-eye over Berlin and because of Truman’s stubborn determination and courage, Stalin eventually blinked.  Eisenhower and Kennedy had to contend with Kruschev, a crude and crafty peasant whose innate inferiority made him both aggressive and unpredictable, a dangerous combination.  Eisenhower and Kennedy both went eye-to-eye with him over a variety of issues and, in each case, Kruschev blinked.

President Putin is just the latest Russian tyrant to confront an American president on the global stage, but he may be the most dangerous of all.  Putin embodies the brutal ruthlessness of Stalin and the aggressiveness and dangerous unpredictability of Kruschev.  But this time America is led not by Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, or John F. Kennedy.  Rather, the world’s only remaining superpower is led by Barack Obama, a president who lacks the courage of Truman, the steadfastness of Eisenhower, and the resolve of Kennedy.  In taking on President Putin, Barack Obama is armed with just one weapon: empty words.  At this critical juncture in history when freedom hangs in the balance, America is led by a man of words and Russian is led by a man of bullets and bombs.

The hard truth is that Barack Obama has no concept of how to deal with Valadimir PutinPutin cannot be charmed by Obama’s words, nor is he moved by idle threats and blurry lines drawn in the sand. Putin is the quintessential Russian bear in that he responds only to strength and the will to use it.  Seeing neither strength nor will in President Obama, Putin is focused solely on his goal of regaining control over Ukraine and its Black Sea port of Sevastopol.  Obama on the other hand showed his resolve by taking a golfing vacation to Florida at the height of the crisis.  To a bully like Putin, Obama’s vacation to Florida was a clear signal that Ukraine is not a high priority of the American president. Consequently, while Obama is playing golf and talking, Putin is acting—he is sending in troops, tanks, and aircraft while simultaneously whipping the Russian population of the Crimea into a pro-Putin frenzy.

It is noteworthy that Valadimir Putin has publicly stated that the greatest tragedy of the 20th Century was the fall of the Soviet Union.   One suspects that re-establishing the “evil empire” would suit him just fine.  The eventual outcome of the Ukraine crisis is predictable, but will that be the last of it?  I doubt it.  Which of the former Soviet satellites will Putin target next?  Putin knows he has to move fast if he is going to re-establish Russian hegemony over any more of the former Soviet satellites.  After all, 2016 is right around the corner and no matter how the election goes Putin’s favorite pin cushion will be gone.  In fact, 2016 could usher in another Truman, Eisenhower, or Kennedy, or even another Ronald Reagan.  If this happens, Putin’s ambitions for expansion are in trouble. Until then, he can do pretty much what he pleases in  Ukraine.  Too bad.

Bolton: Sending Kerry to Ukraine Talks ‘Like Sending a Cupcake to Negotiate With a Steak Knife’

(CNSNews.com) – Sending Secretary of State John Kerry to negotiate with his Russian counterpart in a failed bid to avert a Moscow-backed referendum in Crimea was “like sending a cupcake to negotiate with a steak knife,” former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton said on Sunday.

Speaking as the referendum was underway, Bolton told Fox News that both the Obama administration and the European Union (E.U.) were demonstrating weakness in their handling of the Ukraine crisis.

“We sent Secretary of State John Kerry to London to negotiate with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov – that’s like sending a cupcake to negotiate with a steak knife,” he said.

Bolton, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, said there was “a real failure of leadership” in the West.

“We’ve ignored the security issues that are inherent in Ukraine not being part of NATO after the Europeans rejected it in 2008, so after five years of failing to even think about this issue we’re now seeing the consequences,” he said. (CLICK ON IMAGE TO VIEW VIDEO)

Bolton

The U.S. in 2008 backed putting both Ukraine and Georgia on a formal path to NATO membership, but objections by E.U. countries leery about Russia’s strong objections meant the required consensus was not achieved, and the decision was put off.

Now that Ukraine’s Crimea region – effectively under Russian military control – has voted to join Russia the willingness of the West to confront President Vladimir Putin will again be put to the test, beginning Monday.

For weeks the Obama administration and E.U. leaders have been talking about “costs” and “consequences” for Russia’s military intervention, and the White House said Sunday that President Obama in a phone conversation with Putin had done so again.

“[Obama] emphasized that Russia’s actions were in violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and that, in coordination with our European partners, we are prepared to impose additional costs on Russia for its actions,” it said.

So far actual punitive measures have been mild. The State Department has instituted a visa ban on a group of undisclosed “officials or other persons who have been complicit in or responsible for supporting actions which threaten the sovereignty, territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine.”

Separately, Obama has issued an executive order creating the authority for sanctions against such individuals or entities – but no targets have yet been named.

Even after Kerry’s last-ditch talks with Lavrov on Saturday failed to avert the referendum, Kerry seemed reluctant to talk about sanctions.

Asked during a press conference after the talks whether U.S. and E.U. sanctions would now be a fait accompli on Monday, he agreed that Obama and the E.U. “have said if the referendum takes place, there will be some sanctions” – but then added immediately, “There’ll be some response, put it that way.”

Kerry referred several times during the press availability to Russia’s “legitimate concerns” and “legitimate interests” in Ukraine.

“We hope President Putin will recognize that none of what we’re saying is meant as a threat. It’s not meant as a – in a personal way,” he said.

Kerry also held out the hope that Putin’s pledge to honor the outcome of the referendum did not necessarily mean he would move to annex Crimea.

“The reality is that President Putin’s statement that he will respect the vote offers him many options as to how he chooses to respect the vote,” he said.

Kerry said that Putin could “respect the vote” by ensuring that Crimea’s autonomy is increased and its people’s needs respected, “without necessarily having to make a decision to annex.”

E.U. foreign ministers meeting on Monday will decide on what steps to take in response to the referendum, with travel bans and asset freezes on some officials under active consideration.

Meanwhile in Crimea, the separatists are wasting little time. Local lawmakers were scheduled to meet on Monday morning (around 4 AM eastern U.S. time) to begin the “political process of reunification with Russia,” Voice of Russia reported. From there a delegation planned to visit Russia to take the matter forward

It said the final decision on the Russian side would rest with both houses of parliament and with Putin.

The leader of the third-largest party in the State Duma, the lower house of parliament, Sergei Mironov, predicted lawmakers would quickly pass the necessary measures on Crimea’s accession to the Russian Federation.

State Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin told Russian television the Crimea referendum was a historic development after years of Russia “losing” people – a reference to the breakup of the Soviet Union and consequent loss of Russian minorities in former Soviet states.

“Here at last we’re getting our compatriots back,” Naryshkin said. “That’s a historic moment for Russia.”

Obama Declares Self-Determination To Be A Threat To US National Security

INFOWARS

http://www.infowars.com/obama-declares-self-determination-to-be-a-threat-to-us-national-security/

Paul Craig Roberts
Infowars.com
March 17, 2014

In his March 6 Executive Order, “Blocking Property of Certain Persons Contributing to the Situation in Ukraine,” Obama declares that support for Crimean self-determination constitutes “an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States, and I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat.” http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2014/03/06/executive-order-blocking-property-certain-persons-contributing-situation

Obama and the lawyers who drafted his executive order did not notice that the way the order is drafted it applies to Obama, to the unelected coup government in Kiev, and to the Washington and EU regimes. The order says that any person “responsible for or complicit in, or to have engaged in, directly or indirectly . . . actions or policies that undermine democratic processes or institutions in Ukraine” is subject to having his assets frozen.

Washington and the EU are the only two governments whose personnel have undermined democratic processes and institutions in Ukraine by overthrowing the elected government and imposing an unelected one.

Obama worshippers–yes there are still people that stupid–object when I call Obama the White House Fool. Yet, here is Obama or his lawyers proving that he is a fool by issuing an executive order that requires the property of Obama, Victoria Nuland, Samantha Powers, Susan Rice, the UK prime minister, the German chancellor, the French president, the EU Commission and any number of associated persons to be frozen by the US government.

Of course, Obama’s executive order will not be applied to those to whom it is applicable. It will be applied to those to whom it is not applicable–authorities who permitted the Crimean population to exercise democratic processes in order to determine their own fate.

Washington has stood democracy on its head. Overthrowing Ukraine’s democratic government and installing a puppet regime does not undermine democratic processes or institutions in Ukraine, but anything that allows self-determination to go forward in Crimea does undermine democratic processes.

Clearly, the West can no longer be associated with democracy.

Obamacare Has Been a 90 Percent Failure Using the Obama Regime’s Own Numbers

Obamacare Failure
According to the Obama government’s own latest numbers, 4.2 million Americans have signed up for Obamacare. And while the Obama regime twists and spins the number as being a great accomplishment, and with the looming deadline to sign up less than two weeks away, just how successful is the number?

Obama said in August of 2009 that there were 46 million uninsured, telling the nation, “I don’t have to explain to you that nearly 46 million Americans don’t have health insurance coverage today. In the wealthiest nation on Earth, 46 million of our fellow citizens have no coverage.”

According to Joseph Curl, writing in The Washington Times, Obama spouted the number as being factual over a dozen times, including in June of 2013, when he tried to guilt the nation into accepting Obamacare by goading, “We are not a nation that accepts nearly 46 million uninsured men, women and children.”

Given that the stated goal of Obamacare is to provide health insurance to the uninsured who were in a state of “crisis,” gauging the success of the operation demands that it be judged based upon that goal. Using Obama’s number of 46 million (he wouldn’t lie about that number, would he?), and using the regime’s latest enrollment number of 4.2 million, it means that less than 10% of the uninsured have actually signed up.

Generously disregarding the fact that the regime doesn’t actually know how many of those enrolled have actually paid for their insurance, or that a reported 5 million have had their policies cancelled because of Obamacare, that’s over a 90% failure. And a 90% failure is a failure by anyone’s yardstick.

The Essence of Sarah Palin’s Message for 2014

Tea Party News Network Banner

http://www.tpnn.com/2014/03/16/the-essence-of-sarah-palins-message-for-2014/

March 16, 2014 By

Sarah-PalinI watched a great old movie in the time period of the 1700s starring Anthony Quinn. A small village was brutally abused by an evil bandit and his army of thugs. Quinn organized and inspired the fearful villagers to fight back. When villagers were killed, many blamed, criticized and rejected Quinn. Displaying true leadership, Quinn remained willing to fight. He informed his critics that cowardice begets more tyranny. Freedom ain’t free.

Folks, true leaders pay a heavy price which is why they, as do eagles, fly alone. Sarah Palin has led by example, displaying tremendous courage, backbone and grit by standing up for conservative principles, traditional values, freedom and liberty; even when some conservatives and establishment Republicans joined the chorus of liberals, Democrats and MSM calling her a fool.

Someone said if you promote a lie long enough, for some, it becomes reality. Such is the case regarding Palin’s smarts. Meanwhile, Obama’s list of faux pas, including his recent inability to correctly spell “respect” are ignored or laughed-off.

Threatened by her enormous presence and the extreme impact of her inspiring 2008 VP nomination acceptance speech, Democrats and the MSM immediately launched a campaign to destroy Palin. In their joint effort to discredit her, every word out of Palin’s mouth has been viewed through an unjust false lens that assumes that she is an idiot. I challenge anyone on the planet to survive such extreme critical scrutiny.

Sarah Palin is not perfect. She is a human being like the rest of us. But, Sarah Palin is an unmistakably gifted charismatic born leader who inspires millions to fight back against the horrible evil attempting to overtake our great nation. Palin’s passion is fueled by her love for God, family and country and her knowledge that freedom ain’t free. Thank God Palin is conservative.

For those on our side who wish to nitpick everything Palin says and does, I ask, what the heck are you thinking? Stop it! Obama and his vile minions (Lois Lerner and others) are launching daily unprecedented outrageous assaults on our freedoms. Why waste time, energy and resources beating up on one of our few generals leading the charge to restore America?

As a proud conservative, I hold our leaders to a higher standard than the Democrats. I expect conservative leaders to make character driven decisions rooted in the best interest of the American people. However, I think it is unfair and foolish to demand that our leaders be perfect in every way. We should not join our enemies in berating them every time a conservative has a less than home run hitting media appearance. Our laser focus should be on exposing and stopping Obama’s non-stop crimes against our Constitution. Attacking our own is counterproductive.

Despite the left’s best efforts to silence her, Palin has been relentless, sounding the alarm of all the bad things that would accompany an Obama presidency. Palin was right. America’s chickens have come home to roost for electing Obama.

Here are Palin’s predictions that have come true.

Obama pacifying world aggressors would have negative consequences.

Russia (which had just invaded the sovereign nation of Georgia, a U.S. ally) would feel emboldened to send troops in Ukraine as well.

Under Obamacare there would be government “death panels” that would determine whether or not a patient should be eligible to receive life-saving treatments, or whether it would be cheaper to just let that patient die. Could you ever imagine such a thing in America?

A few liberals have admitted that Palin was right when she said Obama does not have a whole lot of substance.

Sarah Palin was right on all these issues.

But the most important thing that Palin has been right about, winning her my utmost respect, is her unapologetic advocacy of true Conservatism; confidently touting Conservatism as the miracle cure for all of America’s woes.

The 2014 midterm election must be a vote for Conservatism. Conservatives in office is the only way we defeat our outlaw president and his army of thugs. We must take the House and the Senate.

Palin’s CPAC speech confirms that she continues to lead the charge. Her battle cry is loud, strong and clear. If the GOP wishes to repeat the victory it enjoyed in 2010, it had better embrace the Tea Party (Conservatism).

I stand with Sarah Palin 100%. I pray you will do the same.

On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed and the American people informed the British that they were no longer recognized as their leadership. This meant that they no longer considered themselves as dependents upon the British to establish rule of law or commerce, and set themselves to be independents to make their own rule of law and establish their own commerce.

Some of the stated reasons for this endeavor were revealed in John Hancock’s speech after the Boston Massacre which was said to have “sparked the Revolution;”

…as though they thought it not enough to violate our civil rights, they endeavored to deprive us of the enjoyment of our religious privileges, to vitiate our morals, and thereby render us deserving of destruction. Hence, the rude din of arms which broke in upon your solemn devotions in your temples, on that day hallowed by heaven, and set apart by God himself for his peculiar worship. Hence, impious oaths and blasphemies so often tortured your unaccustomed ear. Hence, all the arts which idleness and luxury could invent were used to betray our youth of one sex into extravagance and effeminacy, and of the other to infamy and ruin; and did they not succeed but too well? Did not a reverence for religion sensibly decay? Did not our infants almost learn to lisp out curses before they knew their horrid import? Did not our youth forget they were Americans, and, regardless of the admonitions of the wise and aged, servilely copy from their tyrants those vices which finally must overthrow the empire of Great Britain? And must I be compelled to acknowledge that even the noblest, fairest, part of all the lower creation did not entirely escape the cursed snare…?

John Hancock 1774 after the Boston Massacre

On January 8, 2014 a Gallop poll revealed that the majority of Americans consider themselves to be Independents. The percentages of the poll were 31% Democrat, 25% Republican, and a whopping 42% Independent!(http://www.gallup.com/poll /166763/ record-high-americans-identify-independents.aspx)

Personally, I believe that it will climb higher.

Why? because I’ve done a lot of polling on the “street” myself. And when I informed people that my opinion of the government consisted of : In the 15th century, a man was born by the name of Niccolo Machiavelli. His last name became synonymous with political corruption and manipulation of the masses to achieve political aims (primarily for self- gratification at the expense of the People) . One of his formulas for maintaining such an attainment of Despotic status amongst the People was as follows (paraphrased):

… If a government is fully engaged in active Deceit for self-gain, and it desires to maintain its position, yet never be fully set in the crosshairs of an angry People’s blame for their political and Economic woes; then it must divide the People by two elite ruling parties that blame one another for the suffrage; thus, the one divided arm of the politically controlled masses blames the other arm, never realizing that the masses of both arms are controlled by one Satanic Head…Hereby may “crisis’” be created to divert the People’s attention from the true malefactors by “putting aside their differences” to unite for a “national cause”; thereby maintaining control when things begin to get out of hand…

I’ve only met a single digit percentage of those that disagreed. This “Declaration of Independents” is the most politically powerful thing that We the People can do at this moment. For it sends a message straight to the heart of D.C. even as a little over 200 years ago it did unto the British Empire.

We the People now have the power to take every seat in 2016 including the Presidency if we are smart about it without firing a shot unless attacked first. The question most people rightfully have is, “But how do We overcome the media ‘wall’ erected by the “Republi-Crat Regime?”

I believe that the answer is found in this copyrighted idea: Because the controlled mainstream media will fight tooth and nail to prevent a challenge to the Republi-Crats, We create our own Web TV based “Reality Show” based upon 13 candidates actually running for the office of President in 2016. And to make this introduction to the idea short, We vote them off one by one based upon their answers to usually unasked questions as pertaining sodomite soldiers, adolescents being instructed in sexual perversion, their personal religious views, and current national and world events.

Not only do I believe that the 42% majority would make this series spread like wildfire, I believe that millions of $$$ would be made, it would be one of the most watched series of our times, and would guarantee the Presidency.

It amazes me that not one American with the know how to create such a Web TV program will do it even when the opportunity is freely given to them. Fortunately, because this is an entrepreneurial venture, foreign investors are smart to recognize the opportunity that can be had at a tax write off as an investment; and some Eastern European entrepreneurs are soon to be looking closely at it.

I believe that the Right Hand of God is about to move today as it did in 1776! Watch out.

Alaska House Passes Convention of States Application

Convention of States

March 14, 2014

Robert Kelly

The good news keeps rolling in.

The Alaska House passed the Convention of States application on March 12 by a vote of 24-13.

Thanks to everyone in Alaska who wrote an email or made a call.  Our team in Alaska has done a fantastic job, and we’re proud to work with such amazing patriots.  (If you haven’t joined the team in your state, you can do so by signing up in the Action Center.)

But we’re not quite finished in Alaska, and you can do three things to help complete the process.

First, you can contact the members of the Senate Rules Committee and voice your support for SJR 18. The rules committee will be voting on our application in the upcoming weeks, and we must pass this committee before moving on to the Senate as a whole. You can find the rules committee members’ contact information on this page.

Second, you can contact your state senator and encourage him or her to vote for SJR 18.  This webpage allows you to find your senator’s contact information.  You can give your senator a call or write them a quick note like the one below.

Dear Senator [Last Name],

Please consider voting for SJR 18 to call a Convention of States. The Alaska House already passed the COS application, and I believe this is the last, best chance to preserve liberty in this nation and force Congress to be fiscally responsible. The Founders gave the states Article V for such a time as this—it is our duty to use it.

Your vote can bring us one step closer to ensuring the preservation of liberty in this country.

Respectfully,

[Your Name]

Finally, you can forward this email to your friends and family, encouraging them to lend their support.

Your hard work made the difference yesterday, and we can do the same thing in the senate!  You call or letter can tip the balance in our favor, so pick up the phone today.

Mississippi To Start Drug Testing Those Receiving Welfare Benefits

http://weaselzippers.us/179547-mississippi-to-start-drug-testing-those-receiving-financial-aid-benefits/

MS GovernorIt looks like Mississippi is taking the right steps to reducing fraud when it comes to government assistance. Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) will now require new applicants to submit a questionnaire that will evaluate the likelihood of substance abuse.

Residents who apply for this temporary assistance from the state will have to submit to drug testing if the state deems they are likely substance abusers from this questionnaire. Testing positive once would require a TANF recipient to undergo treatment for substance abuse. For testing positive a second time, the recipient would be kicked out of the program for 90 days. A third positive result would remove the recipient for up to a year.

Governor Bryant said, “The TANF program is a safety net for families in need, and adding this screening process will aid adults who are trapped in a dependency lifestyle so they can better provide for their children.” The state will be using federal funds earmarked for TANF to administer the questionnaires and testing. They estimate the cost of testing will be only $36,000 each year.

There are currently only 9 other states that have passed legislation requiring TANF applicants to be screened for drugs. And there are at least 24 more that are looking into this type of legislation too.

This seems like a great way for the state to spend a minimal amount in order to save the system a lot of money. What many people will think here is how Republicans hate poor people and how we don’t want to help them, but in all reality we want to help those who really need it and aren’t abusing the system. The governor of Mississippi and his legislature have figured out a way to do this, and I say “kudos” to them!

Allen West: ‘Faux Commander in Chief’ Obama Thinks ‘Beards, Turbans, & Hijabs’ More Important Than Vets

Check it out:

Speaking at CPAC earlier this month, Lt. Col. Allen West had some very harsh words for President Obama on the subject of the military and veteran’s benefits.

West’s primary issue in this clip is the reduction in force of our military, as well as deprioritizing of training and equipment in favor of progressive, feel good policy initiatives that, frankly, do nothing for readiness. As long as this administration continues to focus on nonsense like undermining good order and discipline by breaking long traditional and obvious common sense rules of uniforms instead of what is actually necessary for a modern fighting force, a “faux Commander-in-Chief” is about as kind and delicate a description as Obama can expect from a soldier like Allen West.

Al-Qaeda Calls for Car Bomb Attacks on American Cities, Targets Abroad

Bret BART

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2014/03/15/Al-Qaeda-Set-To-Attack-American-Cities-And-Abroad

by 15 Mar 2014, 11:36 AM PDT

The latest issue of Al-Qaeda’s Inspire magazine contains an article about using car bombs in U.S. cities as well as abroad during election seasons, both presidential and congressional, as well as on Christmas and New Years Eve.

The cities and areas listed in the piece include Washington, D.C., New York, Northern Virginia, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

America is our first target, followed by United Kingdom, France and other crusader countries.

As for the field target for the car-bomb, you have places flooded with individuals, e.g. sports events in which tens of thousands attend, election campaigns, festivals and other gathering. The important thing is that you target people and not buildings:

Washington DC and New York:

Washington is the capital, and New York is the former capital. Both have symbolic importance to the American people and government. Moreover, White House is in Washington, and DC has about 347,000 federal govern ment employees and many important figures in the government live there. As for New York, it is known for its status as a financial, cultural, transportation, and manufacturing center, it is the leading center of banking, finance and communication in the United States.

Northern Virginia:

It has a big military presence, almost all the military bases are based in this state, apart from the Air Force which is based in Chicago. There are federal agencies in Northern Virginia, including the headquarters of the Department of Defense and CIA; and military facilities in Hampton Roads, the site of the region’s main seaport. Virginia in general attracts a load of tourists.

Chicago:

It is in the mid of the US, hence it is a major transportation hub. It is an important component in global distribution, as it is the third largest inter-modal port in the world. It is also an important worldwide center of commerce. The city has the second largest financial center in the United States. Among its most important financial structures:

1. Sears Tower, a 108-story skyscraper, it held the title tallest building in the world for about 25 years.

2. The Chicago Board of Trade Building.

Los Angeles:

The most populous city in the state of California, and the second most populous in the United States. It is also the largest manufacturing center in the western United States. It is also the home base of Hollywood. Areas and Restaurants with high profile personalities – Usually these people visit the restaurants during the weekend:

Arlington

Alexandria

Restaurants and Bars in the M street, Washington.

Tennis stadiums; they are visited by thousands of people, and high profile people, especially the US Open.

The piece includes interviews with islamist and Al-Qaeda recruiter Anwar al-Awlaki, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in 2011, and Samir Khan, who was killed in the same air strike. Khan served as editor and publisher of Inspire up to that point. A photo of New York City is shown at the end of the piece.

The terrorist organization’s magazine has a letter from the editor that states:

Whenever Al-Qaeda is mentioned, the American citizens’ mind thinks of vest and car bombs.

Bearing in mind that none of these weapons has struck them post 9/11. So why would they relate Al-Qaeda to these bombs? Simply because they fear these weapons and have seen enough of their destructive power in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Many Feisal Shahzads are residing inside America, and all they need is the knowledge of how to make car bombs. They are all yearning to fulfill their duty of Jihad.

The American government was unable to protect its citizens from pressure cooker bombs in backpacks, I wonder if they are ready to stop car bombs!

Therefore, as our responsibility to the Muslim Ummah in general and Muslims living in America in particular, Inspire Magazine humbly presents to you a simple improvised home recipe of Shahzad’s car bomb.

And the good news is … you can prepare it in the kitchen of your mom too.

The piece also lists specific locations and times to attack European sites in England and France. These include the Bastille Military Day Parade on July 14 in Paris and soccer (football) stadiums during Premier League FA Cup Matches in the UK “when huge crowds leave the stadium and celebrate around the entrances and FA Cup matches.”

Move Seen in Response to International Concern About Country’s Control Over Internet Structure

WASHINGTON—The U.S. government plans to give up control over the body that manages Internet names and addresses, a move that could bring more international cooperation over management of the Web, but will make some U.S. businesses nervous. The Commerce Department said Friday it plans to relinquish its oversight of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, or Icann, which manages a number of technical functions that serve as signposts to help computers locate the correct servers and websites. The action is viewed as a response to increasing international concern about U.S. control over the Internet’s structure, particularly in light of the recent disclosures about surveillance by the NSA and other U.S. intelligence agencies. Other governments have complained that the department’s contract with Icann gives the U.S. unique influence over the Web, which it could use for a wide variety of purposes. In response to those concerns, the Obama administration is convening a process to create a new oversight structure for Icann when the current contract runs out in September 2015. Alan Marcus, senior director of the World Economic Forum, said “the NSA tarnished the U.S. stewardship” of the Web. Mr. Marcus said the U.S. needs to relinquish control over the Web before new leadership can emerge. “There are real issues that get clouded” by U.S. leadership, he said. The action had been debated among technologists and policy makers, but the prospect of the U.S. relinquishing control concerns some businesses because of the potential for censorship. “If you hand over domain-name registration to someone who doesn’t want certain classes of domains registered, then you’re setting up a censorship structure,” said Bill Reinsch, president of the National Foreign Trade Council, which represents businesses. In recent years U.S. policy makers have pushed back against calls from nations including China and Russia for the U.N. and ITU to have a greater role in overseeing the structure of the Web. U.S. officials have previously argued that such an arrangement would lead to the repression of free speech and the Balkanization of the Internet. “We thank the U.S. government for its stewardship, its guidance over the years. We thank them today for trusting the global community to replace this stewardship with the appropriate accountability mechanisms,” Icann CEO Fadi Chehadé said. Icann will launch the process later later this month at Singapore event and collect input throughout the year, with an aim of having the new governance structure completed by September 2015 when the existing contract with the Commerce Department expires. Anyone with an interest in how the Internet is managed is invited to take part. According to Larry Strickling, administrator for the Commerce Department’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration the new governance model must ensure that Icann is free from government influence. The plan must also fulfill several other conditions, such as preserving the security and stability of the Internet while keeping it open and free from censorship. Until 1998, the functions were managed by Jon Postel, a computer scientist at the University of Southern California, one of the early pioneers of the World Wide Web. Upon Postel’s death in 1998, the Commerce Department issued a contract to Icann to take over those functions, making Icann the primary body in charge of setting policy for Internet domains and addresses. Mr. Strickling said the U.S. always viewed its role as overseeing Icann as temporary. “The Internet was built to be borderless and this move toward a more multistakeholder model of governance creates an opportunity to preserve its security, stability and openness,” said Vint Cerf, Google vice president and chief Internet evangelist, in a statement. Some Silicon Valley executives support the move, which they view as inevitable in light of the concerns over the NSA disclosures. “I’m not sure they have any choice,” said Peter Schwartz, senior vice president of global government relations for software maker Salesforce.com Inc., who heard a presentation from Icann Thursday in Silicon Valley. “They’re better off getting out ahead of it.” —William Mauldin contributed to this article. ATLANTA –  During a speech in Atlanta Friday, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia on Friday defended interpreting the Constitution as it was originally written and intended.

Scalia delivered a speech titled “Interpreting the Constitution: A View From the High Court,” as part of a constitutional symposium hosted by the State Bar of Georgia. Originalism and trying to figure out precisely what the ratified document means is the only option, otherwise you’re just telling judges to govern, Scalia argued.

“The Constitution is not a living organism,” he said. “It’s a legal document, and it says what it says and doesn’t say what it doesn’t say.”

But an originalist interpretation still provides for a flexible legal system, he said.

“You want the death penalty? Persuade your fellow citizens it’s a good idea and enact it. You think it’s a bad idea? Persuade them the other way and repeal it. And you can change your mind. If you repeal it and find there are a lot more murders, you can put it back in,” he argued. “That’s flexibility.”

Scalia also took anonymous questions that had been collected by event organizers in advance.

Asked if more regional, geographic and educational diversity on the court would make a big difference in opinions, Scalia said he didn’t think trying to have a court that is representative of the population is necessary, using geography as an example.

“As far as I’m concerned, you can find bad judges in every region of the country … and good ones as well,” he said.

Scalia was appointed to the nation’s highest court in 1986, making him the longest-serving justice.

John Kerry’s Message to Russia: “Peace Through Weakness”

The Washington Examiner ran an interesting headline on Thursday: “John Kerry: Russia has until Monday to reverse course in Ukraine.” The Examiner continued: “If there is no sign [from Russia] of any capacity to respond to this issue … there will be a very serious series of steps on Monday.” Chief among those “steps?” “…the U.S. and its European allies will not recognize (Russia) as legitimate under international law.” That ought to learn ‘em. Yet, unaccountably, The New York Times reported Thursday that, even in the face of Kerry’s paper kitten, Russia is busily massing forces on the borders of Ukraine.

The Washington Examiner quoted Kerry in saying how impressed he was at “… how united our European allies are on the issue…they are very, very committed to make sure there is accountability…” So was the U.N. when they shook their finger at Saddam Hussein for over twelve years. When Senator Lindsey Graham asked Kerry what the administration would do should Russia make further inroads into the Ukraine Kerry responded cautiously but in full pie-in-the-sky mode: “Our hope is not to create hysteria or excessive concern about that at this point in time,” he said. “Our hope is to avoid that, but there’s no telling that we can.” Hope. Hmmm. As the tune says, it seems we’ve heard that song before. Unfortunately for “Clap-For-Tinkerbelle” Kerry, he might have to wrestle with that very eventuality. The New York Times had the breaking story: “Russia’s Defense Ministry announced new military operations in several regions near the Ukrainian border on Thursday… A day after a deputy minister denied any military buildup on the border; the Defense Ministry released a series of statements beginning early Thursday that appeared to contradict that. They outlined what was described as intensive training of units involving artillery batteries, assault helicopters and at least 10,000 soldiers. The operations confirmed, at least in part, assertions by Ukrainian leaders on Wednesday that Russia was massing forces…columns of armored vehicles and trucks in a border village called Lopan, only 30 miles from the Ukrainian city Kharkiv.” The latest estimate of Soviet forces parked on Ukraine’s doorstep is 25,000 troops.

Angela Merkel and the rest of the European adherents of finger-wagging policy have joined America’s Secretary of State, warning Russia off of incurring possible economic and diplomatic sanctions. Europe’s trading ties with Russia, particularly when it comes to oil however, suggest that such a tack might be a case of the EU cutting off its nose to spite its face. Particularly when Russia is in a position to acquire the wealth of Ukraine. One would guess that Putin might be willing to gamble that Europe’s posture might hurt them more than it would hurt him.

Statists have long chosen to pervert what Ronald Reagan really meant by “peace through strength.” Although Reagan did not endorse military conflict he knew that not having a strong military would send a catastrophic signal to cultures that respect only strength. Democrats, believing that what they want makes their desires true, prefer diplomacy and sanctions and ignore the failures of the past. They eagerly neuter U.S. armed forces while providing military aid to nations hostile to America.

Kerry, although he has taken up room on planet earth for over 71 years, has not learned very much. Not surprising considering that Kerry earned a D in history, twice, at Yale. But he has, unfortunately, been foisted on a hapless America as Secretary of State. Even should he be willing to give up junk food to shield his own grades from public view, The Lyin’ King might have looked into Kerry’s political science grade at Yale before appointing Kerry: D. One can’t blame Kerry for everything even if what passes for The Lyin’ King’s ludicrous foreign policy is right up his alley. But embarrassing himself is one thing; making America a perennial clown on the world’s stage is another. And having Europe for company in the overcrowded clown car won’t help should the elephants run amok. Diplomacy is an ineffectual bludgeon; wielding it hasn’t worked throughout all of recorded history. Fear of an opponent’s strength has. Proof of this is rapidly becoming evident. Friday, Kerry met with his Russian opposite number, Sergei Lavrov, in London. After five hours of implementing his sure-fire diplomatic strategy the Kremlin told Kerry to stick an onion-domed minaret where the sun don’t shine. FOX News summed up Kerry’s dismay in the aftermath: “…he said that he came with ‘good faith with constructive ideas’ to address the concerns of both Ukraine and Russia. But he said Putin is not backing down.” Who could have seen that coming?

Europe and the free world used to rely upon America’s military might for safety, allowing them the fantasy of overcoming evil with a Coke and a smile. The world’s bad players may have dawning awareness, however, that America is becoming less of a threat and more Kool-Aid and a rictus grin.

Stand, Men of the West!

The Imaginative Conservative

http://www.theimaginativeconservative.org/2013/12/stand-men-of-the-west.html

men of the west

Conservative intellectuals tend to be a dismal sort. By natural disposition we are pessimistic people. We cannot really be blamed for this, when one considers the history of mankind and particularly the sorry history of human governance. From starting unnecessary wars to enslaving whole peoples to reducing the masses to poverty through excessive taxation, man, when clothed with the right to rule others, has shown himself to be a tyrant-in-waiting.

Moreover, we conservatives realize that human nature is intrinsically inclined to do evil, that utopias are unachievable and their pursuit dangerous, and that we are apt, over time, to lose our moorings to the commandments of God and His laws of nature. We thus tend to hold out little hope for the future.

As justification for our inherent pessimism we need only to look at the peculiar and sorry times in which we live: an era in which the Founding Fathers are considered “dead white men,” but in which the Constitution they made is held to be living; a time in which political compromise is valued as a priority but commitment to principle is reviled as naïve, quixotic; an age in which any kind of perverse speech or lifestyle is celebrated in the name of freedom, but in which free enterprise is stifled in the names of equality and compassion; a time in which information reigns supreme, but in which logical thinking is scarce; an era in which we have attained the greatest technological know-how but in which we have the least understanding of beauty, goodness, and truth.

Added to all this is our conservative tendency to revel in the nobility of lost causes. This in itself is not a bad thing at all—quite the opposite in fact. As T.S. Eliot said:

“We fight for lost causes because we know that our defeat and dismay may be the preface to our successors’ victory, though that victory itself will be temporary; we fight rather to keep something alive than in the expectation that anything will triumph.”

But we have not taken Eliot’s words to heart. We mistakenly look for permanent victories, political and cultural, and when they do not come, we despair. We seem not to realize that it is not permanent victories that we should seek but rather the preservation of “the permanent things,” which is victory enough.

Keeping alive the flame, however, does not mean hiding its light. After all, a flame that is not open to the air will be snuffed out. Like Isaiah we are under the Divine injunction to be “a light to the nations, to open the eyes that are blind.” This means that conservative thinkers should not talk exclusively amongst themselves, as we are prone to do. (One might recall that perennial philosophical question: “If an intellectual presents a paper at an academic conference, does it make a sound?”) Instead, we need to shine forth the light of truth, goodness, and beauty through the best available means that can reach the masses; today that means the internet, and specifically online journals like The Imaginative Conservative.

As Sam Gamgee says in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings:

“There’s some good in this world, and it’s worth fighting for.”

In fighting our worthy battle, American conservatives can position their forces on the ramparts of certain premises: that the Founding Fathers, despite their flaws, still have much to teach us today; that the Constitution is actually dead, in the sense that its actual written words need to be taken seriously; that free enterprise is inextricably linked to political freedom and ordered liberty; that inquiry, to be free, must be grounded in reason and must be directed to the ascertainment of truth; and that information and technology are not goods in themselves unless they serve the good and the beautiful.

Yes, our enemy is strong, but we must remember that temporary victories are indeed possible if we keep sharp our Kirkian Sword of Imagination. As the composer Richard Wagner said, “Imagination creates reality.” Who, for example, would have thought that Ronald Reagan’s vision of the early 1980s of American victory over communism would become a reality less than a decade later? Of course, since the collapse of “the Evil Empire,” new terrors have arisen in the world— abroad and at home—to threaten Western Civilization, but we conservatives should have expected that.

This should not be interpreted to mean I advocate engaging in crusades to right wrongs across the globe; to the contrary, we should heed the sage advice of John Quincy Adams and not “go abroad looking for monsters to destroy.” Yet there indeed are dragons in the world, and some are rising in the East, and they may find us soon enough. The most fearsome ones, however, are already amongst us, inhabiting our very souls, twisting them toward evil, falsehood, and ugliness, and causing them to decay. But we can take comfort in Chesterton’s assurance that such dragons can be killed.

Western Civilization is undeniably in decline and indeed its very existence is in doubt. Yet these thoughts ought not to drag us conservatives down into a morass of defeatism. Sadly, though, some conservatives are indeed calling for retreat. They say that the hour is too late, that a remnant must run to the barricades and shield itself and whatever is left of Western Civilization from the barbarians at the gates. Like Tolkien’s King Theoden, they seek a Helm’s Deep in a desperate attempt to preserve the world of men from the hour of the Orc. But I call on conservatives to refuse to cede the current hour to darkness, and I join with the Aragorn of Tolkien and Peter Jackson in declaring:

“A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends, and break all bonds of fellowship; but it is not this day! An hour of woe, and shattered shields, when the Age of Men comes crashing down; but it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!”

EPIC: What Question Asked by Rep. Trey Gowdy Resulted in Thunderous Applause on the House Floor?

Congressman Trey Gowdy asks, "If a president can change some laws, can he change all laws?"

Congressman Trey Gowdy asks, “If a president can change some laws, can he change all laws?”

Normally speeches given by Congress are a little ho-hum, but not when they’re given by fiery Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-SC).  But along the growing lists of Gowdy’s most powerful moments, this one may turn out to have the greatest impact (watch video below), as his persuasive speech was greeted by massive applause by his colleagues yesterday on the House floor. Gowdy’s speech was made in support of the ENFORCE the Law Act, a bill Gowdy sponsored which would allow legislators to sue agency officials if they refuse to enforce legally-passed laws.

Rep. Gowdy read a series of statements made previously by Obama while a U.S. Senator, asking who made these statements:

  • “These last few years we’ve seen an unacceptable abuse of power, having a president whose priority is expanding his own power.”
  • “No law can give Congress a backbone if it refuses to stand off as the coequal branch the Constitution made it.”
  • “What do we do with a president who can basically change what Congress passed by attaching a letter saying I don’t agree with this part or that part?”
  • “I taught the Constitution for ten years, I believe in the Constitution.”
  • “One of the most important jobs of the Supreme Court is to guard against the encroachment of the executive branch on the power of the other branches. And I think the Chief Justice has been a little too willing and eager to give [sic] the president more power than I think the… Constitution originally intended.”

“How does going from being a senator to a president rewrite the Constitution?” Gowdy asked. “What’s different from when he was a senator? Mr. Speaker, I don’t think there’s an amendment to the Constitution that I’ve missed. I try to keep up with those with regularity.”

But the statement by Congressman Trey Gowdy that brought the House down was this one:

“What are we to do when this president, or any president decides to selectively enforce a portion of the law and ignore other portions of that law?

What are we to do Mr. Speaker, regardless of motivation, when a president nullifies our vote by failing to faithfully execute the law?

How do we explain waivers and exemptions and delays in a bill passed by Congress and affirmed by the United States Supreme Court?

How do we explain away a refusal to enforce mandatory minimums that were passed by Congress and affirmed by the Supreme Court?

And why pursue, Mr. Speaker, immigration reform if presidents can turn off the very provisions that we passed?

The oath that brand new citizens take, it contains six different references to the law.

If it’s good enough for us to ask brand new citizens to affirm their devotion to the law, is it too much to ask that the president do the same?”

Barack Obama’s desperation in hawking his failed signature legislation Obamacare, otherwise known as the unaffordable Affordable Care Act, is beyond pathetic. It is getting downright embarrassing.  He has sent his wife out to belittle young people by calling them knuckleheads for not enrolling. Remember, these are the same knuckleheads, i.e. uninformed voters, who voted for her inexperienced and inept husband.

He has gone around the country lying about the cost of premiums hoping enough poor dupes will believe him, despite the evidence that the Affordable Care Act is anything but affordable. He has consistently told the young that they should sign up for his government controlled health care system because they are not invincible. In fact, he suggested to one young father to just cancel his phone and cable bill in order to free up money in his budget for the insurance that he claimed would cost everyone less than they were paying.

But, two of his new efforts in a last minute push to get as many people to sign up for Obamacare prior to the March 31st deadline goal of 7 million, a self-imposed goal that he is far from reaching, are ridiculously idiotic.

On Wednesday, Obama’s HHS tweeted his latest propaganda picture push featuring an ‘angry mom’, as reported by Truth Revolt.

Truth Revolt

For Throwback Thursday, he went even more ludicrous. He tweeted an article featured on his propaganda laden Organizing For Action website, also known as BarackObama.com.

Invincible

Refocusing on the ‘you’re not invincible mantra,’ Obama’s Healthcare Campaign Manager Erin Hannigan had this to say on the site.

“I’m going to share a secret with you: Sometimes I wore a cape when I was a kid. It’s true. Putting that cape on made me feel like a real superhero. Invincible!

That’s a feeling I hope some people can relate to—at one point in your life you probably were pretty sure you were invincible. But here’s the truth: we’re not. Things happen—and that’s why it’s so important to have health insurance.

Time is running out to get covered this year, and we’re doing something a little different today.

For this Throwback Thursday, we’re asking everyone to share a photo of when you felt invincible. Maybe it’s a photo of yourself dressed up like a superhero on Halloween or flexing your kid muscles for the camera. Maybe you’re just wearing a cape.

Tweet it out—and let folks know why it’s important to get covered now that you know you’re no longer invincible. Use the hashtags #TBT and #GetCovered to be part of the conversation.”

Maybe someone should remind the president that begging is not becoming. It makes one look weak and pitiful.

A Colorado reporter shows the Washington Press Corpse how to ask about ObamaCare

Joe the Plumber Banner

This clip shows Jay Carney being cornered by a lowly local reporter from Colorado. He’s been in front of Carney before because he notes, at the outset, “the last time I asked you a question you didn’t answer it”. Enjoy the skewering…

Reporter

He prefaces his question by noting that the Democrats passed ObamaCare facing overwhelming poll numbers that said the American people didn’t want it and with a personal shot at Harry Reid when he notes that “the President said you could keep your plan and I know that’s not true because my wife lost hers”.

“We don’t get here very often…” Honestly, you’re not likely to get asked back.

Jay Carney is a dissembling liar. “Do you want quality, affordable health insurance or do you want the insurance company to tell you that you can’t get coverage because of the fine print…” referring to the demon of “pre-existing conditions”.

NEVER FORGET

The pre-existing condition argument made by Democrats is a chain of lies. Forbes deconstructed that argument in just a few words.

According to the latest Census Bureau data, 309 million Americans have health insurance. Of these 4 percent are covered by directly purchased insurance alone. The remaining 96 percent are covered by government or company insurance or some combination. Government health insurance does not allow discrimination based on preexisting conditions. Company insurance typically does not either, insofar as the risk pool is already incorporated in the premiums, and there are portability requirements in moving from company to company.

Thus 12 million people purchased private direct purchased health insurance on the eve of Obama Care. Insurance industry studies show that one in eight applicants for private health insurance have preexisting conditions that affect their eligibility or premiums. This gives a total of 1.5 million Americans who were denied health insurance or paid higher premiums due to pre-existing conditions.

One point-five-million people are impacted because of a pre-existing condition. So the Democrats took over one-sixth of the US economy to “fix” a problem effecting 0.48% of the population. As for the other 99.52% of Americans, our insurance premiums have gone down an average of $2,500 per year increased by an average of 23% according to the Manhattan Institute.

–Average rates will rise in 81% of the 300 age and sex categories, and go down in 19%.

–For all categories in all states, the average increase comes out to 22.8%, with rates going from $268.33 to $329.44 a month, up $61.10. The median increase is just under 32%.

NEVER FORGET

So, on average, consumers with ObamaCare policies saw their insurance cost go up an average of $733.20 vs. the President’s claim of a $2,500 drop. Today, that has only impacted those in the private insurance marketplace because the hit to group plans was delayed until next year by The Imperial President. New pricing on group plans should be out in September/October of this year.

November is a time to exact revenge on the people who’ve been lying to you for the last half-dozen years about this mess called ObamaCare. Republicans need to take back the US Senate and grind this administration to a halt.

RAW CHRISTIANITY: This Column Is Rated NSFW (Not Safe For Wussies)

If Christians would toughen up a bit, get out of the religious closet, follow their faith instead of their fears, and live their beliefs in a more robust way, we would once again change the face of this nation more drastically than Kim Novak’s plastic surgeon altered her mug. Maybe that’s a bad analogy. But you get my point.

Hey Christian, why don’t you go public with your faith? Why don’t you work what you supposedly believe into your sphere of influence, huh, PC JC man? Come on, Dinky – true faith is resilient. It can handle scrutiny. It has answers for tough questions. It has solutions for societal pollution. It wants to go play outside.

Look, if the believer really wants to change things that he feels are detrimental to both the soul of man and the soul of our nation, and not just blather on about how bad things are then he must embrace four spiritual qualities. Yes, the following four points were common denominators, fundamentals that Christians have joyfully lived for hundreds of years around the globe, principles that eventually caused the land in which they dwelt to be changed for the better. If you live, eat, sleep and breathe these four things for a few decades, history states that you’ll watch their positive impact on the course of your life, your church and your nation.

Are you ready for this? I knew you were:

1. Incorporate what you believe into your daily grind. 2. Bump up the quality of your spiritual experience. 3. Get a passion for effective action. 4. Labor for personal, ecclesiastical and national reform.

BTW: 1-4 have been borrowed from J.I. Packer and abused by me.

1. Incorporate what you believe into your daily grind.

Look, we’re not going to change our nation if we compartmentalize our faith and relegate our Christianity to once a week ditty. Where Christianity has historically rocked, its adherents saw no incongruities between their sacred worship and their secular work.

Martin Luther, the 16th-century Augustinian monk who shook all of Christendom like a bowl of liposuctioned fat, said the Christian was worthless until he could vibrantly live a profane life, which means in the Latin, outside the temple. Luther not only brought clarity to the gospel message, but he also catapulted believers beyond the stained glass walls of the Church, exhorting them to be salt and light in places where they might be skewered and lampooned. Yes, Martin re-tabled the New Testament notion that the secular environment was not to be avoided because it was bad and that all creation is sacred so all activities are to be done to the glory of God.

Listen: true spirituality is incredibly practical, robust and workable no matter where you dwell or what you do. If your spirituality/Christianity isn’t viable and stout in the most difficult of cultures, then it ain’t the stuff Moses and Christ sold.

To help you take your Christianity out of the Christian ghetto where the secularists would love you to remain, here’s a simple can do: start to see life as a whole. Begin to merge, as J.I. Packer says:

· Your Christianity with culture,

· Your contemplation with achievement,

· Your worship with work,

· Your labor with rest,

· Your fasting with a Foster’s,

· Your love of God with love of neighbor and self,

· Your personal identity with social identity

· Your wide spectrum of relational responsibilities with each other in a thoroughly conscientious and considered way.

Try that next week, next month and the next few years, and watch your influence spread like butter. And you can be certain that such a resurrection of a hearty Christianity will definitely tick the sassy secularist off and get Satan’s panties in a wad.

2. Bump up the quality of your spiritual experience.

If, as a Christian, you want to have true influence upon culture, then you must deepen your soul’s relationship with God and refuse to be simply denomination-centered, success-oriented, self-indulgent, and repellently corny. This type of me-monkey religion might be en vogue with an immediate aberrant version of the faith, but hear me loud and clear: such a “faith” is a farce and not the force Christ intends it to be. I know that’s tight, but its right. Yes, shallowness and sappiness keep you from impacting the real world, where the big boys live and play. And as far as I’m concerned, being a spiritual force and not a ridiculous farce is what having a robust faith is all about.

Believe it or not, no matter what you’ve seen on Christian TV, the believer is a creature of thought, affection and will. God’s primary way to up the robusticity of the human heart is via the human head, by the principal means of the scripture. Having a profound and extensive knowledge of the scripture, coupled with contemplation and application of the Word to one’s person, will naturally cause one to move into substantially deeper waters.

Now, wouldn’t it be great to see a Christian of significant spiritual substance brought back to the Church? One who worships rationally and resolutely with ardent devotion to Christ and is completely comfortable out of a stained glass environment? Imagine having a believer who is serious about the law without becoming a legalist and who enjoys his Christian liberty without becoming Ted Kennedy on St. Patrick’s Day.

3.  A passion for effective action.

Wherever and whenever Christians forcefully delivered a holy spiritual punch to the demonic gut and brought life, light and liberty to people and places, it was because they had dreams without being dreamy. They had a practical faith which worked in the mud, a faith that was not nebulous, vapid, ridiculous or insipid. They were people who were supernaturally natural, who did not forego working in this world to be caught up in the world to come.

When Christianity has been a contender within its culture, the Church has had low tolerance for the lazy, passive, airy and indecisive disciple who thinks it’s not his job to change the world. Savory Christian cultural architects actually believed God’s will should be done on earth as it is in heaven, and thus clipped along at an energetic pace, establishing Christ’s view of justice, mercy and righteousness.

Today, too much of the Church can be characterized as pessimistic and passive, always willing to believe the worst as long as it takes as little energy as possible. The beliefs that societal wrongs cannot be corrected because the world is supposed to slide into an anti-Christ-run keg party, or that the job doesn’t belong to the laity but to the clergy, have left tens of thousands of believers about as active in the world as Howard Hughes was during flu season.

In contrast to the indolent and gloomy quasi-religious crowd, the salvific saints of souls and society have always been set apart by the hope and heat they carry within which manifests in good works without. They know that time is on their side and that their efforts are not going to go unnoticed and ineffectively down the crapper.

4. Laboring for personal, ecclesiastical and national renewal.

As I stated, believers who successfully carried out the creation and evangelistic mandates understood the need for constant rejuvenation. Yes, these believers comprehended the innate spiritual rot, which unsurprisingly and easily crept in on them, their church and their nation.

Appreciative of this nefarious bent, these Christians intentionally and constantly prodded themselves Godward. Yeah, the effective believers who shaped culture stirred up their lukewarm hearts, stifled their lower cortex monkey brain and labored earnestly against the grain for an enriched understanding of God’s truth, stoked spiritual affections, and more resolution regarding their calling in life.

These useful believers were ever mindful of the fact that no matter what a person has accomplished, what a church has done in the past or what our nation has formerly stood for, as long as there are humans involved, there must be the incessant rousing of God’s gifts and graces, or all our progress will derail like an AmTrak and become a fraction of what it could be.

If the church would take a regular hard look at itself now, bolster the things which are great and kick to the curb the crud that impedes us, we would be more fit to powerfully impact the nation in which we reside. A Christian’s desire to biblically better the planet demands that we constantly revamp our graces because of the tremendous task which is set before us. Renewal in the scripture is always preceded by reality, and reality can sometimes be brutal. This is why we avoid it.

The cold hard reality is that our carnal man wants to take hold of God as much as Ted Nugent wants to hold hands with Piers Morgan. As believers, we naturally will go from bad to worse. And as the church goes, there goes the culture. Therefore, it’s incumbent for the believer to be busting his hump to make certain his love toward God, man and that which is holy, just and good never, ever, becomes tepid and tame.

Homeschool advocates warn of dangerous precedent from court case

Published: 19 hours ago

author-image Bob Unruh

Bob Unruh joined WND in 2006 after nearly three decades with the Associated Press, as well as several Upper Midwest newspapers, where he covered everything from legislative battles and sports to tornadoes and homicidal survivalists. He is also a photographer whose scenic work has been used commercially.

An administrative decision by the Department of Homeland Security means members of a German homeschool family whose grant of asylum in the U.S. later was withdrawn will not be returned to face the persecution homeschoolers face in Germany.

But advocates for homeschooling are warning that the underlying legal precedent in the Romeike family’s case suggests that the government always knows best what education is appropriate for children and can require them to attend a school that violates their religious beliefs.

The warning comes from Michael Farris, founder of the Home School Legal Defense Association, which represented the family.

The Romeikes were facing massive punishment, including fines, jail time and loss of custody of their children, had they remained in Germany and continued homeschooling. They made the choice because of teaching in public schools on homosexuality, abortion and other issues that violated the family’s Christian faith.

An appeals court complied with the Obama administration’s request to withdraw the granting of asylum, and the Supreme Court recently left the decision undisturbed.

Last week, however, the DHS said it would put the case on a deferred status under which the family would be able to remain in the United States indefinitely.

While that is a victory for the Romeikes, Farris warned that Americans need to be watching what actually was determined in the courts.

In a statement posted on HSLDA’s website, Farris said “the dangers latent in this case must be understood, combated and reversed.”

“Once these dangerous ideas are unmasked, it becomes apparent that they pose real threats to the principles of freedom that virtually all Americans would have believed were solidly established.”

Farris noted the government “contended that forcing a parent to have their children attend a school that violates their religious beliefs does not offend a conviction that one should not be required to change.”

“Hence, the first dangerous rule to emerge from the Romeike case is that governments may order children to attend schools that violate the family’s religious beliefs. It was not a direct ruling in this case … but the conclusion is present just the same,” he said.

He said the arguments in support of that conclusion are equally alarming.

The Obama administration relied on a decision by Germany’s Federal Constitutional Court in the American case.

That foreign court found: “The general public has a justified interest in counteracting the development of religiously or philosophically motivated ‘parallel societies’ and in integrating minorities in this area. Integration does not only require that the majority of the population does not exclude religious or ideological minorities, but, in fact, that these minorities do not segregate themselves and that they do not close themselves off to a dialogue with dissenters and people of other beliefs. Dialogue with such minorities is an enrichment for an open pluralistic society. The learning and practicing of this in the sense of experienced tolerance is an important lesson right from the elementary school stage. The presence of a broad spectrum of convictions in a classroom can sustainably develop the ability of all pupils in being tolerant and exercising the dialogue that is a basic requirement of democratic decision-making process.”

Farris said the U.S. government argued the German court was simply trying to promote tolerance.

“Tolerance? Really? The aberrational German theory of ‘tolerance’ was clearly demonstrated by the facts in the record,” Farris said. “Another German appeals court held that it is appropriate to use the family courts to seek ‘the removal of the right [of parents] to determine the residence of the children and to decide on the children’s education.’ The same court held that it is ‘completely acceptable’ for courts to ‘enforce the handover of the children, by force if necessary and by means of entering and searching the parental home.’”

The German courts said physical force, including such components as SWAT teams with equipment to smash down doors on homes, was needed to prevent “the damage to the children, which is occurring through the continued exclusive teaching of the children of [sic] the mother at home,’” the HSLDA analysis noted.

“The court conceded that it was not concerned with academic issues – homeschooling could successfully transmit knowledge. It was the philosophical development of children that was at issue. The German court believed that it was ‘damaging’ to children to be taught only the philosophy of their mother,” said HSLDA.

Farris explained that the “controlling legal rule” in the case “is that persecution is proven when a government acts against a person either for an immutable characteristic or for a reason that one should not be required to change.”

Regarding homeschooling, the case sends the message that government is allowed to force parents to change their beliefs, he said.

The Obama Justice Department, on the issue, echoed George Washington University Law Professor Catherine Ross, Farris wrote.

Ross said: “In order for the norm of tolerance to survive across generations, society need not and should not tolerate the inculcation of absolutist views that undermine toleration of difference. Respect for difference should not be confused with approval for approaches that would splinter us into countless warring groups. Hence an argument that tolerance for diverse views and values is a foundational principle does not conflict with the notion that the state can and should limit the ability of intolerant homeschoolers to inculcate hostility to difference in their children – at least during the portion of the day they claim to devote to satisfying the compulsory schooling requirement.”

Farris disputed her argument, contending history and logic prove “tolerance will never be achieved by a government which is intolerant of religious minorities.”

“The long-term concern for American homeschoolers arising from the Romeike case is obvious,” he wrote. “If our government contends that Germany did not violate the principles of religious freedom when it banned homeschooling in order to gain philosophical control over children, then it implies that it would not violate religious freedom or parental rights if the United States decided to ban homeschooling for the same purpose. After all, we would simply be promoting tolerance and pluralism.”

He said what really is needed is a Parental Rights Amendment, which would tell government “to not interfere with our rights to raise our children.”

The alarm Farris expressed echoed that of several WND columnists.

Ambassador Alan Keyes wrote: “It’s telling that Obama and Holder held out against the Romeike family’s plea for asylum until, with the passive-aggressive support of the U.S. Supreme Court, they had established a legal precedent upholding the administration’s lawless view that an unalienable right of the natural family (rooted in the parents’ obligation conscientiously to care for the upbringing of their children) is a ‘mutable choice’ government is not bound to respect.”

WND Editor-in-Chief Joseph Farah wrote that people need to understand “the Romeikes are victims of a Nazi-era law that has never been overturned.”

“The 1938 law passed under the leadership of Adolf Hitler eliminated exemptions that would provide an open door for homeschoolers under the nation’s compulsory education laws.”

It was in 1937 when Hitler himself said: “The youth of today is ever the people of tomorrow. For this reason we have set before ourselves the task of inoculating our youth with the spirit of this community of the people at a very early age, at an age when human beings are still unperverted and therefore unspoiled. This Reich stands, and it is building itself up for the future, upon its youth. And this new Reich will give its youth to no one, but will itself take youth and give to youth its own education and its own upbringing.”

WND reported when the DHS decision was announced that supporters of the family still believed an act of Congress might be needed to establish family rights again.

Muslims Demanding Their Own Sharia Patrols in Michigan

http://wizbangblog.com/2014/02/22/muslims-demanding-their-own-sharia-patrols-in-michigan/

February 22, 2014

During the public comment time at the Dearborn city council meeting, a Muslim stood to demand that the city institute sharia patrols to keep young people out of parks and to prevent the sale of “offensive” magazines in stores.

The man named Hassan took his place in line during the public comments and when it was his turn to speak he prefaced his comments with loud chanting of Islamic prayers. He then went on to demand that the city begin patrols of the parks because people used them for “sexual activities.”

The Muslim would not tell the council where he lived claiming he feared for the safety of his family but said he lived near Westland.

As reported, “Hassan also stated that there were magazines and newspapers at the public libraries and civic center that can ’cause colossal damage to a child’s health,’ asking the city to review and monitor literature before they are distributed.”

So, Mr. Hassan wants sharia compliant patrols to prevent people from using parks and he wants the city to perpetrate sharia compliant censorship at libraries.

Fortunately, the city council shot down Hassan’s demands. This time.

But this is how we begin to lose our nation to invading Islam just as it has happened in Europe, Britain, and elsewhere. Muslims use our own system against us, using democracy to destroy democracy.

First they have a few people complain at a public meeting. Next they have a dozen. Then they shame the government to concede in a few demands. Next they demand more and government gives them, more. Then they are allowed their own enclaves where they have full power and can ignore the rule of law (this has happened in Britain). Then they branch out from their enclaves and begin to force other areas to observe their medieval rule.

Be ware of this, America. Sharia is coming if these Muslims have any say at all over it. Sharia is un-American, anti-democratic, anathema to freedom and liberty and it must be stopped.

Obama suggests people cancel cable and cell phones to afford Obamacare

According to President Obama, low-income families may have trouble affording Obamacare premiums because they simply do not know how to spend their own money. Last week, during a town hall meeting for Spanish language media where Obama was promoting enrollment, a viewer challenged the economics of it for low-income Americans now forced to buy health insurance, according to Hot Air.

The president responded that “if you looked at their cable bill, their telephone, their cell phone bill… it may turn out that, it’s just they haven’t prioritized health care.” He added that if a family member gets sick, the father “will wish he had paid that $300 a month.

nEVER fORGET

Not that the father has any choice in the matter, considering the government is forcing him to buy it.

No Sir, it just means they haven’t prioritized spending on the health care you’re shoving down their throats. The hypocrisy never ceases to amaze. While the “era of austerity is supposedly over,” it’s clearly over for the federal government only.

Once again, President Obama finds someone else to blame for the failures of his own policy — which is so unappealing he keeps delaying it piece be piece. Ironically, cell phones are okay if they’re given away “free” at the expense of the hard-working American taxpayer, but not if you want to buy one yourself.

Daniel Garza, Executive Director of The LIBRE Initiative said of Obama’s remarks, “If the president actually believes that a family earning less than $40,000 per year can afford nearly $4,000 in health insurance premiums, then he truly does not understand middle-income families. Americans do not need the President to tell them how to budget their households. People are already cutting back on things like cable television and cell phones, just to compensate for an awful economy. This president promised he would deliver on affordable health care. Instead, premiums are up, out-of-pocket expenses are up, and overall cost of living is up. The president simply doesn’t get it. And his condescending attitude adds insult to injury.”

nEVER fORGET

Once upon a time, families had the choice of using Healthcare Savings Accounts (HSAs) to spend pre-tax money on routine care and smaller emergencies, while using so-called catastrophic insurance to deal with serious illness requiring hospitalizations. But as part of Obamacare, HSAs are now taxed as well. So much for freedom of choice.

Perhaps we should take away Obama’s cell phone (and pen, while we’re at it) so the politicized executive orders will stop.

Obama is trying to convince Americans that the unaffordability of the Affordable Care Act isn’t his fault. It’s the fault of the states (run by those rascally Republicans) that won’t expand Medicaid. And it’s the fault of those selfish, irresponsible folks who’d rather have cable and cell phones.

If you like your iPhone, you can’t keep it. Period.

Largely unreported sections of an executive order signed last week by President Obama grant the U.S. government the right to seize property of American citizens determined to be undermining, even indirectly, the democratic processes or threatening the peace in Ukraine.

The executive order does not define which actions constitute a threat to Ukrainian democracy or peace.

It cites the National Emergencies Act, which subjects to revocation the constitutional right to habeas corpus, the requirement to bring an arrested individual before a judge or court.

The text of the executive order extends to the actions of what it calls any “U.S Person.”

Aaron Klein’s “Impeachable Offenses: The Case to Remove Barack Obama from Office” is available, autographed, at the WND Superstore

A “”U.S. Person” is defined by the order as “any United States citizen, permanent resident alien, entity organized under the laws of the United States or any jurisdiction within the United States (including foreign branches), or any person in the United States.”

The order freezes property of “U.S. Persons” deemed by the treasury secretary in consultation with the secretary of state to have been “responsible for or complicit in, or to have engaged in, directly or indirectly” in the following:

  • Actions or policies that undermine democratic processes or institutions in Ukraine;
  • Actions or policies that threaten the peace, security, stability, sovereignty or territorial integrity of Ukraine; or
  • Misappropriation of state assets of Ukraine or of an economically significant entity in Ukraine.

It’s hardly the first time Obama has issued an executive order extending the National Emergencies Act. The act was cited in previous orders on Russian highly enriched uranium, Iran sanctions and national security threats by terrorists.

Much of the major news media coverage of last week’s executive order focused on the sections that seek to impose restrictions on Russia or foreign interests while scarcely mentioning U.S. citizens are impacted.

Reuters reported that “President Barack Obama on Thursday ordered sanctions on people responsible for Moscow’s military intervention in Ukraine’s Crimea Peninsula, including travel bans and freezing of their U.S. assets.”

CNN led the coverage by quoting senior administration officials telling reporters in a phone call the executive order means to “send a strong message that we intend to impose costs on Russia for this intervention.”

The Guardian newspaper of London ran the headline “U.S. imposes visa restrictions on Russian officials as Obama signs sanctions order.”

The second section of the order clamps down on “unrestricted immigrant and nonimmigrant entry” into the U.S. for those deemed to be undermining Ukraine’s democracy.

Keystone Pipeline Protest Showcases Opposition’s Hypocrisy Who’s up for a petition to lower the temperature of the sun?

WASHINGTON– Hundreds of Keystone Pipeline protestors descended on the Nation’s capital last week to participate in a march from Georgetown University to the White House where they urged President Obama to join in their dissent. See video of event here;

Global

Clad in plastic suits and Captain Planet costumes, the crowd of college students and their environmentalist elders bore clever homemade signs denouncing fossil fuels and equating climate change to class warfare. Though they turned out to protest a variety of “environmental crises,” their hypocrisy stole the show.

“I flew here from Boulder [Colorado],” said one protestor, who later signed a mock petition asking Congress “to pass legislation that would lower the Earth’s temperatures.

”Last January, the New York Times reported that “one round-trip flight from New York to Europe or to San Francisco creates a warming effect equivalent to 2 or 3 tons of carbon dioxide per person.” According to the article’s author, air travel could easily be considered Americans “biggest carbon sin.”However, the fossil-fuel foes who boasted their decision to travel by greyhound or road-trip in their Toyota Prius, deserve a dose of reality as well. Last year, Climate Central issued a report which stated that “in 39 states, an electric car actually produces more emissions from its manufacture to its 50,000th mile than a gas and electric-powered hybrid.

”Further hypocrisy ensued when the very protesters who claimed the  Keystone XL Pipeline’s approval would devastate the economy and lock us into a trajectory of guaranteed job loss, eagerly signed a petition to ban domestic oil drilling in the United States.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, between 2007 and 2012 the oil and natural gas industry “increased by more than 162,000 jobs.” The U.S. Energy Information Administration went further, writing that “beyond within-sector employment, oil and gas industry activity also directly supports output and employment in other domestic sectors, such as suppliers of pipe, drilling equipment, and other drilling materials.

”Rather than supporting the abolition of an industry responsible for massive job growth, perhaps these protestors – who declared concern over reports allegedly linking the pipeline to unemployment – should extol it.One can only hope they mulled this over on their long, fossil fueled flights home. The protest took place last Sunday.

Right-wing mobs? Say it isn't so, conservatives!

By: Ann Coulter
3/12/2014 04:02 PM

When I wrote a book about mobs and group-think a few years ago, I could honestly say that mob behavior existed exclusively on the left in America — unless you count Oakland Raiders tailgate parties, which I do not. As described in Demonic: How the Liberal Mob Is Endangering America, the distinctive characteristics of the mob mentality include:

– Slogans as arguments (“Bush lied, kids died!” “Keep your laws off my body!” “You can’t hug a child with nuclear arms”);

– Imperviousness to facts (e.g., the left’s refusal to abandon repeatedly disproved canards about Reagan’s tax cuts causing the deficit, the Aug. 6th PDB (President’s Daily Brief) stating anything relevant about 9/11, and Valerie Plame being an “undercover agent”);

– Acceptance of contradictions (I haven’t heard a cavil from MSNBC about Obama’s expansion of the Afghanistan war, use of drones and continued operation of Guantanamo — all deemed “war crimes” in the Bush administration); and

– Extreme emotional attachment to their leaders combined with a passionate hatred of putative enemies (the burning and decapitations of Bush in effigy, books and movies about Bush’s assassination — even as liberals’ publicly discuss their sex fantasies about Clinton and Obama).

To my dismay, some of these mob characteristics can now be found in small pockets on the right.

For months and months, for example, I’ve been demanding facts — not shibboleths or epithets — from the anti-Mitch McConnell brigade.

Here are my facts:

(1) For more than a decade, Sen. Mitch McConnell has stood alone in fighting unconstitutional campaign finance laws, earning him the undying enmity of The New York Times. (The Times is probably the largest contributor to the Senate Conservatives Fund opposing McConnell.)

McConnell took on the entire MSM, as well as members of his own party, principally John McCain and President Bush, who incomprehensibly signed McCain-Feingold into law with the idle musing that the Supreme Court could strike down any unconstitutional parts. (It didn’t — until some of it was finally overturned in Citizens United.)

McConnell was the Ted Cruz of campaign finance laws, leading filibusters to block these outrageous infringements on free speech, writing op-eds and giving speeches denouncing them, and directly suing to have McCain-Feingold declared unconstitutional in McConnell v. FEC.

As McConnell explained (beautifully):

“(T)he political left has always faced an uphill climb in a country in which there are two self-identified conservatives for every self-identified liberal. … In order to succeed in this environment, liberals have generally resorted to one of (three tactics): obscuring their true intent; pursuing through regulation and the courts what they can’t through legislation; or muzzling their critics.”

(2) As minority leader, McConnell managed to get every single Republican in the Senate to vote against Obamacare — even “Strange New Respect” Republicans like John McCain, Susan Collins and Lindsey Graham. No other Republican leader has ever accomplished anything like that.

For example, under Minority Leader Bob Dole, seven Senate Republicans voted for Clinton’s 1994 crime bill, which contained the assault weapons ban widely credited with Republicans’ sweep of Congress later that year. That’s not merely a reflection of Republicans being worse back then: Among the “Ayes” were conservative John Danforth (Mo.) and William Cohen — as good as you get from Maine.

The importance of a solid Republican vote against Obamacare can hardly be overstated. Thanks to McConnell, there is no confusion about which party is responsible for this widely detested law — and which party you should vote for to get rid of it.

nEVER fORGET

(3) McConnell tricked Obama into accepting the only spending cuts to the federal government in more than half a century.

Obama originally proposed the sequester on the assumption that its provisions were so harsh, Republicans would never accept it. But McConnell called his bluff and, for the first time since Eisenhower’s first term, a bill was signed into law that would impose large-scale spending cuts on the federal government.

Even Ronald Reagan didn’t cut federal spending!

McConnell did — and that was with a Democratic president and a Democratic majority in the Senate. (Imagine what he could do with a Senate majority!)

Unfortunately, that deal was lightly thrown away by Rep. Paul Ryan last month, after he was bamboozled by the stupidest person in America, Sen. Patty Murray. Ryan claimed he jettisoned the spending cuts in order to restore military spending.

I’m sorry, but who cares about military spending as long as Obama is president? At the rate he’s going, Obama might use our military to attack England.

In any event, about a week after Ryan scuttled McConnell’s historic budget cuts, Obama’s defense secretary announced plans to reduce the Army to its smallest force since before World War II. Good work, Paul!

While we’re on the subject, Ryan also supports giving the Democrats 30 million new voters with amnesty. But I don’t see the shyster “tea party” groups or talk radio charlatans trying to take out Ryan. Only the guy who cut government spending for the first time in 60 years is on the hit list of the Senate Conservatives Fund and the rest of the fake tea partiers.

(4) On the most important issue — immigration — McConnell not only voted against Marco Rubio’s amnesty bill, but at the moment, he may be the only thing standing between us and a scheme to import 30 million new Democratic voters. As House Speaker John Boehner works feverishly behind the scenes to push amnesty through, McConnell recently announced that there would be no immigration bill in 2014 (thank almighty God).

There are breathless headlines all over the Internet claiming, “McConnell Supports Amnesty!” but when you click on them, the links don’t work and the claims don’t make sense.

In fact, over the years, McConnell has voted for:

– preventing legal immigrants from collecting food stamps (1997);

– a border fence (2006); and

– English as the official language of the U.S. government (2007).

He also voted to block federal funds from being sent to so-called “sanctuary cities” for illegal aliens (2008). The only amnesty McConnell ever voted for was the one signed by President Reagan in 1986.

I know this from looking up McConnell’s actual voting record, as opposed to reading nonsensical jeremiads against McConnell on the RedState blog.

True, McConnell is bad on guest worker programs, but if that’s the test, the only Republican senator worth a damn is Jeff Sessions. I don’t disagree, but I wish conservatives would mention that to their elected representatives once in a while.

Like Ted Cruz. According to The New York Times, Cruz supports “a path to legal status,” with “the goal of allowing (illegal aliens) to stay,” and expressly rejects Mitt Romney’s idea of “self-deportation.” (“Cruz Tries to Claim the Middle Ground on Immigration,” Sept. 12, 2013.)

McConnell has never said anything that bad on immigration.

Those are facts. Here’s the counter-argument from the anti-McConnell crowd: HE’S A RINO! HE’S AN ESTABLISHMENT REPUBLICAN! HE’S BEEN A TERRIBLE LEADER! MITCH LIED, KIDS DIED!

Ladies and Gentlemen, there you have all the attributes of a mob: Slogans in lieu of logic and evidence, beliefs impenetrable by facts, emotional hatred of the “enemy” and the acceptance of wild contradictions.

Isn’t Paul Ryan dreamy? Let’s run Ted Cruz for president! We love Reagan … But we hate McConnell for voting with Reagan!

Nothing good has ever been accomplished by a mob.

Abortion Providers Don’t Inform Authorities about Pregnant 11 year old

Abortion providers are generally disgusting people. You’d have to be to make a living murdering people and pretending you were performing some kind of public good. Maybe I go too far… but I don’t think so. The evidence keeps piling up that my first instincts are correct.

Case in point –

In West Virginia a pair of parents, Michael and Amanda Adkins, have been arrested on charges of child neglect. Why? They took their 11 year old daughter to an abortion clinic to have a baby murdered that was likely the product of incest. Then because the abortion clinic defied the law and didn’t inform authorities that a crime had been committed (at the very least the statutory rape of an 11 year old), these scumbag parents were able to take their daughter back to her doctor and lie to him about her experiencing symptoms of miscarriage. Because of their lie he performed a DNC on a little girl that had recently undergone an abortion putting her life at unnecessary risk – simply to cover their own behinds.

Michael and Amanda Adkins were arrested Friday night on charges of child neglect causing the risk of injury.

child abortionIn this case, because the abortion was not reported by the abortion clinic — and the parents did not tell anyone it was done — state police say the parents were able to go back to the doctor that was working with investigators and tell him the girl was having symptoms of a miscarriage. He then performed a D&C procedure, unknowingly putting the girl in danger.

“That point was withheld, which makes it pertinent in her health and her safety,” West Virginia State Police Cpl. Marlene Moore said. “That’s where the neglect creating risk of injury comes in. The parents neglected to take care of her needs — her basic needs and put her in extreme danger by letting her go through an unnecessary procedure– be put under anesthesia when they knew that that had been performed before.”

The horrible parents have become the center of the story… but let’s not leave out the murderous abortion clinic staff that decided not to tell authorities that a child had been raped.

This kind of story plays out every day in every abortion clinic across the country. These facilities and the staff that work there are constantly lying, cheating and fudging the truth – breaking copious laws along the way. To them the ends always justify the means, and it does not matter how repulsive they must be to be to accomplish their goals… they’ll do it. Think I’m overstating things? Then you haven’t seen Lila Rose in action.

Or how about this abortion peddler telling a pimp to pretend he’s actually the guardian of an underage prostitute.

Face it folks. Abortionists are murderers. They are evil vile criminals who murder people for a living – so why would you expect them to obey laws that would have them report underage abortion seekers? That’s foolish.

It’s time to end the holocaust that America is perpetrating on our children. Abortion must be made illegal, and it must happen now.

Obama threatens vetoes of bills requiring him to follow the law

Washington Times Banner

http://washingtonexaminer.com/obama-threatens-vetoes-of-bills-requiring-him-to-follow-the-law/article/2545545

By Joel Gehrke | MARCH 12, 2014 AT 1:45 PM

President Obama is threatening to veto a law that would allow Congress to sue him in federal courts for arbitrarily changing or refusing to enforce federal laws because it “violates the separation of powers” by encroaching on his presidential authority.

“[T]he power the bill purports to assign to Congress to sue the President over whether he has properly discharged his constitutional obligation to take care that the laws be faithfully executed exceeds constitutional limitations,” the White House Office of Management and Budget said Wednesday in a statement of administration policy. “Congress may not assign such power to itself, nor may it assign to the courts the task of resolving such generalized political disputes.”

The lead sponsor of the measure, Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., said it was designed to curb Obama’s abuse of presidential authority, most notably in his frequent changes to Obamacare.

“We have pursued certain remedies afforded to Congress to address executive overreach but these efforts have been thwarted,” Gowdy said. “This bill is necessary; it will give Congress the authority to defend this branch of government as the Framers and our fellow citizens would expect.”

Obama also threatened to veto another bill by Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., which would require the administration to explain decisions not to enforce laws when those decisions are rooted in policy concerns rather than just constitutional concerns (which the Justice Department is already required to do).

“The American people deserve to know exactly which laws the Obama administration is refusing to enforce and why,” DeSantis said when introducing his bill.

OMB said DeSantis’ law is too burdensome. “The bill would inordinately expand current law, which already requires reports to Congress when non-enforcement of federal law is based on constitutional grounds,” Obama’s team said in a statement of administration policy.

“Federal agencies are continually engaged in the process of determining how to concentrate limited enforcement resources most effectively. … The vastly expanded reporting scheme required by the bill would be unduly burdensome and would place the Attorney General in the unprecedented position of having to be kept informed of and report on enforcement decisions made by every other Federal agency,” the statement continued.

The House is scheduled to vote on both bills Wednesday.

On the same day that DeSantis introduced his bill, Attorney General Eric Holder told Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, that he thought Obama was “probably at the height of his constitutional power” when issuing the delays of Obamacare mandates, though he acknowledged that he couldn’t explain the precise legal analysis.

“When you look at the quality, not just the quantity but the quality, the nature of the executive orders that he has issued, he has usurped an extraordinary amount of authority within the executive branch,” Lee said at the time. “This is not precedented, and I point to the delay — the unilateral delay, lawless delay, in my opinion — of the employer mandate as an example of this. And so, at a minimum, I think he owes us an explanation as to what his legal analysis was.

Walk

The Liberal Jihad

eagle-rising-logo3b

http://eaglerising.com/5085/liberal-jihad/#J34elGhg6iRSseQg.99

By / 12 March 2014

It is my experience that liberals are far more than simply gullible or ignorant. Their world view is one of self-deception and self-loathing. They are political and historical masochists. They feel so ashamed at the generosity, wisdom, beauty, and success of Western civilization that they have trained themselves to process everything through the prism of masochism. They are truly Ameriphobic.

I think they view American slavery as the worst of all sins ever committed. While that period of our history is certainly abhorrent, the liberals were never taught that the slave trade was possible mainly because of Islamic conquest and its heavy emphasis on human trafficking.

They don’t look fondly on our Founding Fathers (most of whom were true abolitionists), or our Declaration or Constitution, both of which are true abolitionist documents. They tear down America because of our sins. In contrast, conservatives look fondly at America for her ideals and values, which led to the ending of slavery and eradication of many other historical ills. Americans are not the dictators of the world, but the liberators of humanity from the hands of dictators. That is simply a fact!

Liberals have actually taken on many of the traits of the Islamists they defend.

America is in decline for this very reason: the liberal population of our country no longer defends her, but is, rather, attempting to destroy her. Moderates and middle-of-the-roaders tend to follow like lemmings, because they are incapable of processing reality, and cannot discriminate between the rights and wrongs of history, and give credit where credit is due ~ to the superiority of Western culture, even with all its flaws and blemishes. There is such a thing as better. And I, for one, am proud to be an American, and I will defend her every chance I get. As for our presidents and the current administration, many of them are not worthy of defense, as they are far more anti-American than patriotic.

Liberals live by their own version of Sharia Law.

They say they are inclusive – yet, when asked about including the Tea Party, or a Republican, or a conservative, they recoil in horror. They aren’t inclusive and they aren’t tolerant.

They say they speak for the innocent – yet they refuse to defend the unborn and the elderly from Obamacare.

Only Democrats

They say they are for free speech and the First Amendment, but say anything ill of a liberal, a liberal program, or a liberal idea, and you will be railed for “blasphemy” ~ a crime punishable by a boycott, lost jobs, or character assassination (the next “best” thing to death itself).

They say they are for women, and pretend to defend them against the so-called “War on Women”, yet they allow their men to live lives of shame, permitting the likes of John Edwards and Bill Clinton (who practically had a concubine in Arkansas) to roam free in the hen-house. Never mind the dozens of others who got away with philandering with nary a harsh word from the so-called “women’s groups”. It would be laughable if it weren’t so downright depressing. It seems the liberal men get to enjoy the Islamic paradise of endless women here and now, rather than having to blow themselves up for the cause. Well, I guess they do “blow up” their egos a bit, don’t they? Let’s call it martyrdom “lite”.

antiamericanJust like Islamists, liberals, too, have a dualistic ideology. It’s always okay to destroy the livelihood of a non-liberal, and never okay to speak ill of a fellow progressive, even when the subject or offense is exactly the same.

Liberals are always drooling on themselves about promoting women and minorities, but are simply hypocrites when it comes to putting their money, or political appointments, where their mouth is. Republicans, they may be shocked to learn, were the force behind abolition, desegregation, women’s suffrage, and civil rights. But you won’t hear that in the high schools, colleges, or universities, and you will never see it on network news.

Liberals are all about fairness and equality, except for conservative blacks and conservative women. To those, slander and ad-hominem attacks are delivered on cue. The ugliness echoes almost endlessly, as if fed back through a liberal meme-phone.

Vitriolic talk is to be condemned, if not outlawed, unless it comes from the lips of a liberal. In which case, it is simply the truth, on steroids. All passion from the right is, of course, from the bowels of racism and sexism, and any and every phobia invented in the progressive nomenclature.

Liberals condemn any sort of criticism of those who switch sides – tolerance, acceptance, and open arms are how you welcome those who have turned to the dark side. However, it is much different when leaving the liberal plantation, (an apostate) which leads to marginalization at best, and most-assuredly a fatwa on your head. It never leads to enlightenment and tolerance, and happy good-byes. Giving up the old faith is an apostasy worthy of death, but character assassination will suffice, as it is the most trusted form of liberal abuse to beat former acolytes into submission.

The most hated conservatives are often those who escaped through the underground railroad of critical thinking: Ronald Reagan, Andrew Breitbart, Thomas Sowell, David Horowitz, even Milton Friedman, were all once liberals! Do current liberals have anything good to say about them? No. All we get is “Uncle Tom” to “Bat poop Crazy”. They are only recognized by the verbal filth poured upon their heads.

Show me a young Conservative, and I’ll show you someone with no heart. Show me an old Liberal, and I’ll show you someone with no brains.” – Winston Churchill

This is certainly true of liberals ~ no brains, all emotion; no thought, all feelings.

Leftist Revisionist

Aristotle said “Tolerance and apathy are the last virtues of a dying society.” On that account, where are we today? Near death? The tyrants are not coming, they are already here?

Friends, liberals are very much akin to the Islamists, you either think like them, convert to their side, or face the penalties of their faith system; convert, pay them homage and lip service, or silence yourself before an avalanche of political correctness, lest you die the slow death of a million cuts known as the political vendetta aka character assassination.

Liberalism may be just as deadly as their Jihadist brotherhood. We have many fronts on which to do battle. Let’s mount up and ride…. May we all still be standing when the smoke clears, and may that banner yet wave over the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Democracy… Temporary?

Joe the Plumber Banner

It’s a sad state of affairs in our country.

Check it out:

About the time our original 13 states adopted their new constitution, in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:

“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.”

“The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

* From bondage to spiritual faith;

* From spiritual faith to great courage;

* From courage to liberty;

* From liberty to abundance;

* From abundance to complacency;

* From complacency to apathy;

* From apathy to dependence;

* From dependence back into bondage.

We’re clearly in the “apathy” stage, possibly as advanced as the “dependence” stage. Damn, I hate it when history repeats itself.

If we give up, we doom ourselves to tyranny.

Check it out:

Here’s the thing about this. I’m not gonna sit here and exist in denial. We have reached a point — we have to be realistic here. We can’t honestly say that all of this is gonna turn around in one election. Let’s say the Republicans win the White House. That’s not single-handedly going to be what turns this around. Democrats lose the Senate, we win with the House. I’m still not sure that the Republicans want to win the Senate. It’s much easier to be in the minority where you have no responsibility. It’s much easier where you don’t have to come up with the agenda that is reform. It’s much easier to sit there and say there’s nothing we can do; we’re in the minority. That’s a side issue.

I think we’re at a point here, we’re in deep. I don’t want anybody to be misled with my optimism. The end of the Obama presidency is not gonna be magic. It’s gonna be big in one characteristic, though. It’s gonna end this paralysis of criticism that everybody is suffering. The second thing, I touched on it earlier, when you look at the Dakotas where the fracking is going on and Texas, the states hold the key, I believe. If you say, and a caller did, that Washington is not responsive, that Washington does not seem interested in fixing this or reforming it, may be. But the states are. The states can’t print money. The states cannot do what the federal government can do. They have to actually abide by a whole different set of rules and laws. So there are a lot of things that have to happen.

Leftist Revisionist

I’m not pie-in-the-sky here. But enough things happen just on this radio show in pushing back and retarding the progress or stopping it of some of their most important issues, global warming and health care, to name a couple; there are others as well. But I think this notion that — I, too, I said it earlier, there is gonna be a generation, it may be the Millennials, a generation growing up and saying, “Wait a minute, this is not what we’re in this for. We’re not going to pay for half this country, for 92 million people to not work. We’re just not gonna do it. We’re not our parents. We’re not our grandparents. We’re not gonna do it.” I have that faith as well.

When I consider the incredible opportunities this great nation has afforded me over my entire life, it just makes my chest swell with pride — and unlike First Lady Michelle Obama, this isn’t the first time I’ve felt this way.

Sunday evening I landed at Bradley International Airport in Connecticut and was driven to Old Saybrook where I’m here to do the audio recording for my book Guardian of the Republic.

But what is so amazing is where I’m staying: the Deacon Timothy Pratt Bed and Breakfast in the lovely antique Library Room. In 1746 when this home was constructed no one could have ever imagined that 268 years later I would be sitting here documenting this phenomenal experience. Yet, here I am the kid from the Old Fourth Ward in Atlanta chilling out at Deacon Pratt’s place.

This morning I took a nice run down Main Street to the Connecticut River, crossed over Bridge Street and gazed towards the South Cove.

This, ladies and gentlemen is the true America. The exceptional America. Not the contrived “social justice” and “equality of outcomes” America into which Barack Obama seeks to transform our Republic. This is the America that says there are no limits on what you can do or what you can become as an individual.

This is the America Buck and Snooks West told me about as a child and made me believe that anything and everything is achievable, if only you dedicate yourself to working hard. This is the America that my wife Angela and I now tell our daughters Aubrey and Austen about, and prepare them for. This is the America that Dr. King spoke of because it is character that matters, not skin color.

This is the America that our Founding Fathers just somehow knew was possible. This is also the America we are challenged to preserve and defend. We must continue to talk about this America and the legacy of liberty and why it must be passed on to subsequent generations.

We must tell the stories of the sacrifices of previous generations that have enabled us to enjoy these blessings. We cannot begin to believe that all we can ever be are just subservient drones to a tyrannical government that does not believe in our individual indomitable American spirit. And we must once again restore the brilliance of that beacon of freedom of conscience and will that has drawn so many to our beautiful shores and graced those of us fortunate enough to be born here.

Say what you will progressive socialists and others with your incessant personal attacks. This America shall triumph, as liberty and freedom always have. This America will see a re-commitment to its fundamental constitutional principles. This America will once again be that special place that holds respect, regard, and honor in the world.

I look forward to doing the audio recording for the book and its release next month because I get to tell the story about this America and why I shall always be a Guardian of the Republic.

(Liberals will be furious if my book debuts on the best seller list. Want to wind them up? Pre-order your copy now, and get a special poster)

Last Friday, Time reported that Russian troops attempted to take a Ukrainian military base by storm on the Crimean peninsula by ramming the gates with a truck and rushing inside.

According to the report, within two hours, the Russian forces managed to seize part of the Ukrainian air force base at the edge of Sevastopol. After failed negotiations for the surrender of the entire base, the Russian troops pulled back before midnight. Armed pro-Russian paramilitaries in civilian clothing were still in the area, the spokesman said, but the two Russian military trucks that had rammed the gate of the A-2355 base outside Sevastopol were gone, as were the several dozen Russian troops involved. “Now only the radicals are left,” he said, referring to the pro-Russian militants who call themselves “self-defense forces” on the Crimean peninsula.

Now, let me get this straight, Vladimir Putin says there are no Russian troops in the Crimea. But two Russian military trucks were used in this attack against a sovereign nation’s military base. Imagine if the Mexican Army had troops come across the border and tried to seize Ft. Bliss Texas.

However, what is most interesting is “armed pro-Russian militants” are working in coordination with the Russian military. Sounds to me like Putin is conducting state-sponsored terrorist activities. As well, according to the Geneva Convention, all combat belligerents are supposed to wear uniforms and display their national markings. So, the real question: is Vladimir Putin in violation of the Geneva Convention and should Russia be considered for listing as a state sponsor of terrorism? After all, we call Islamic militants terrorists don’t we, or are these armed pro-Russian paramilitaries extremists?

I am waiting to hear what President Obama, Secretary Kerry, and Secretary Hagel have to say on the matter. Sounds like crickets.

Government bans calling terrorists ‘jihadis’

Forbidden ad was based on Washington’s own wanted list

Bob Unruh joined WND in 2006 after nearly three decades with the Associated Press, as well as several Upper Midwest newspapers, where he covered everything from legislative battles and sports to tornadoes and homicidal survivalists. He is also a photographer whose scenic work has been used commercially.

A federal appeals court is being asked to reverse a lower court decision that banned the American Freedom Defense Initiative from featuring in a bus ad the faces of men already identified by the U.S. government as suspected terrorists.

“This case is a classic articulation of political correctness as a form of tyranny, which violates our fundamental right to freedom [of] speech guaranteed by the First Amendment,” said Robert Muise, co-founder of the American Freedom Law Center, which is working on the AFDI case.

“Simply put, the government’s position is inconsistent with reality – namely, Shariah-adherent jihadists pose a significant threat to our national security.”

The King County, Wash., transit system, in the Seattle area, had rejected AFDI’s ad that featured a most-wanted list of terror suspects compiled by the FBI. The transit agency claimed the ad was “false,” “demeaning” and “objectionable.”

But the transit agency previously had posted essentially the same ad when it was prepared by the government, which generated political pressure from Islamic groups.

Appealing the ruling from Judge Richard Jones to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, the lawyers explained that the ad included “pictures, names and a similar message from an earlier anti-terrorism advertisement sponsored by the U.S. State Department, which was accepted for display on King County buses.”

“The State Department advertisement depicted the ‘Faces of Global Terrorism’ in an effort to ‘stop a terrorist now’ and ‘save lives.’ In addition, the advertisement offered an ‘up to $25 million reward’ for helping to capture one of the FBI’s most wanted terrorists,” the appeal explains.

AFLC now is asking the 9th Circuit to reverse the lower court decision and tell King County’s transit operations to run its own ad, which was based on the government promotion.

The lawyers, who have fought similar battles in other cities around the country over the past several years, said that there is nothing materially false about the advertisement. They note the ad says nothing more “than the State Department’s ‘Faces of Global Terrorism’ advertisement, which the county accepted.”

Second, they explain, the idea that identifying terror suspects listed by the federal government as suspects was “demeaning” is entirely subjective.

“What prompted plaintiffs to propose this advertisement in the first instance was the State Department’s willingness to acquiesce to political correctness by accepting the ‘viewpoint’ that it is improper to highlight … (that Islam that is practiced by the jihadis),” the argument explained.

“Indeed, there is ample evidence in the record that these most wanted ‘global terrorists’ are aligned with Islamic terrorist organizations,” the brief explained. “Is it the district court’s viewpoint that those who engage in terrorist acts in the name of al-Shabaab (which is formally aligned with al-Qaida), the Abu Sayyaf Group, the Taliban, or al-Qaida, as examples, are not jihadis? Based on what? As plaintiffs demonstrated below, the use of the term ‘jihadis’ to describe the global terrorists pictured in the advertisement is not only factually accurate, but, more important, it expresses plaintiffs’ viewpoint on the issue of global terrorism.

“It is clear to any reasonable person that the use of the accurate descriptor ‘jihadi’ in the context of global terrorism does not disparage those Muslims engaging in a self-reflective internal struggle. And to further illustrate this point, federal court opinions in cases prosecuting self-described ‘jihadis’ routinely utilize that descriptor.”

The brief said the principle “that has emerged from [Supreme Court] cases is that the First Amendment forbids the government to regulate speech in ways that favor some viewpoints or ideas at the expense of others.”

“When the government targets not subject matter, but particular views taken by speakers on a subject, the violation of the First Amendment is all the more blatant,” the brief said.

“Here, the content of plaintiffs’ message (and thus its subject matter) is permissible in this forum, as evidenced by the fact that the county had previously accepted the same message content that was submitted by the State Department (‘Faces of Global Terrorism’), and the county subsequently accepted another State Department advertisement (‘Stop a terrorist. Save lives.’) that addressed the same subject matter: terrorism.

“Consequently, it is not the subject matter that is being restricted, but plaintiffs’ viewpoint on the subject. This is a classic form of viewpoint discrimination that is prohibited in all forums,” the brief argued.

The ad is one among many that AFDI executives Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer have used across America to spread warnings about the threat of Islamic terrorism.

The government’s ad:

The AFDI ad:

The AFDI ad pictured a long list of suspects compiled by the government, including “30 out of the 32 listed terrorists [who] had Muslim names or are wanted for terrorism related to organizations conducting terrorist acts in the name of Islam.”

Geller and Spencer repeatedly have been forced to fight for their speech rights.

One recent conflict was in Detroit, where Geller, of Atlas Shrugs, co-founder with Jihad Watch director Robert Spencer of the organization that placed the ad, were opposed by Detroit Transit.

The ad stated: “Fatwa on your head? Is your family or community threatening you? Leaving Islam? Got questions? Get Answers!”

During depositions taken in the case, SMART officials testified that “political,” for purposes of its advertising guidelines, means “any advocacy of a position of any politicized issue.”

But Muise argued there the U.S. Supreme Court has warned “the danger of censorship and of abridgment of our precious First Amendment freedoms is great where officials have unbridled discretion to determine which messages are acceptable and which are not.”

“Indeed, a speech restriction violates the First Amendment when it grants a public official such broad discretion that the official’s decision to limit speech is not constrained by objective criteria, but rests on ambiguous and subjective reasons, as in this case,” he said.

The legal team has pointed out that the Detroit transit system already had accepted political ads, including one from the Detroit Area Coalition of Reason, an atheist organization which, by its own admission, engages in “separation of state and church activism.”

As WND has reported, AFDI has fought other related ad censorship battle in several other locations already.

In each case, efforts to censor the ads have been struck down by courts.

In a commentary on WND, Geller wrote that the original ad was “a publicity campaign sponsored by the Joint Terrorism Task Force for the State Department’s Rewards for Justice program, or RFJ.”

“But then the leftists and Islamic supremacists complained that the ads were ‘Islamophobic,’ and they came down – and unbelievably, Seattle is refusing to allow my group, the AFDI, to put them back up.

“We have asked that the ads be put up forthwith, as the county’s refusal to run them is an unconstitutional restriction on our freedom of speech. Moreover, the RFJ program has been successful: Through it, the State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security has paid more than $125 million to more than 80 people who offered genuine information that led to jihadis being jailed and prevented acts of jihadist terror. This program was instrumental in leading to the arrest of jihadist Ramzi Yousef, who is now in prison for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center jihad bombing. In short, this program has saved lives,” she wrote.

Geller said the FBI “is putting Americans at risk by submitting to the outrageous demands of Islamic supremacists.”

“It is not the fault of the FBI that the world’s most dangerous terrorists are jihadists. That is the reality. You cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality,” she said.

“Capturing these mass murderers is significantly more important than propping up the fictional narrative of victimhood and the nonsensical hurt feelings. People are being slaughtered every day in jihad attacks,” Geller wrote.

Homeland Security Pre-Staging A Domestic Military Force

During the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, the U.S. Army built 28,000 MRAPs (Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected Trucks). Now the U.S. Army has announced that it is giving 13,000 of them away, for free. Who’s receiving the trucks? Homeland Security and U.S. Law Enforcement.

Instead of mothballing these MRAPs, Homeland Security is evidently pre-staging a domestic army of militarized agencies, police and law enforcement.

While Police and agencies say that all this military equipment from DHS grants will only be used against crime, the trust in many American alphabet agencies has been broken – now that we know some of the extent at which they are using technology to monitor and probe its own citizenry. DHS and many others, they’re stockpiling.

What we have here is a paranoid government, and one which is apparently and evidently ramping up for something…

The U.S. Army is giving away 13,000 armored trucks, worth about $500,000 each.

The 20-ton MRAPs, or Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected trucks, were built specifically to save U.S. soldiers from roadside bombs in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Now the trucks are patrolling U.S. city streets. U.S. law enforcement agencies have received the lion’s share of this high-powered military surplus.

-Bloomberg
Recently, retired Marine Colonel Pete Martino spoke plainly during a Concord (NH) city council public hearing over the cities intent to procure a armored attack truck (the manufacturer’s description, although the police prefer “rescue vehicle”).

He said:

What’s happening here is we’re building a domestic military, because its unlawful or unconstitutional to use American troops on American soil.

My best friend who’s a SWAT officer in Nashua (NH) who came to Iraq with me to train the Iraqi police, sent me an email with a picture of him on the streets of Watertown Mass (Massachusetts) wearing the exact same combat gear that we had in Iraq – only it was a different color.

The way we do things in the military, it’s called task organization. You take a command and then you attach units to it in order to accomplish the mission.

What’s happening is Homeland Security is pre-staging their equipment – it’s consistent. What they’re trying to do is use standardized vehicles, standardized equipment.

I saw a picture in the Boston Globe after the Marathon bombing where there was a state police officer – actually there were two officers – both had identical helmets, flak jackets, weapons, everything I wore in Iraq – only it was all blue.

The officer on one side had a big patch on his back that said Massachusetts State Police. Another officer next to him, his patch said Boston Police.

So what we’re doing here, and let’s not kid ourselves about it, we’re building a domestic army and we’re shrinking the military because the government is afraid of its own citizens.

The last time more than 10 terrorists were in the same place at one time was September 11, and all these vehicles in the world wouldn’t have prevented it, and it wouldn’t have helped anybody. So I don’t know where we’re going to use this many vehicles and this many troops. Concord is just one little cog in the wheel.

We’re building an army over here and I can’t believe people aren’t seeing it. Is everybody blind?

During his military career, he commanded an infantry platoon, company, and battalion. He was also the senior U.S. adviser to an Iraqi Army brigade. Mr. Martino has had a successful civilian career providing training, consulting, and program management services to private companies and to state and federal agency contractors. Mr. Martino presently holds a top secret security clearance.”

We now have desensitization – desensitizing the people getting used to seeing military hardware on local roadways.

DHS procuring-reserving nearly 2-billion rounds of ammo.
Check points to travel within our own country.
Paramilitary civilian police forces.
Mass surveillance of all citizens.
Political elite above the law.
Intimidation of press.

Something’s afoot…

NEVER FORGET WHAT CANDIDATE OBAMA SAID;

“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

Obama on life support, CNN reports “he’s flat-lining”

It’s a media panic. No, President Obama is not in the hospital, but he probably should be. CNN is talking about the President’s latest poll numbers. See actual broadcast below;

CNN

Republicans will add eight, ten, twelve, even more seats in the House and take the Senate.

Don’t break out the confetti just yet, we’d wait until January after the new Senate is sworn it. We’ve got a long haul over the next eight months, lots can happen and they don’t call Republicans “The Stupid Party” for nothing.

We will note that we don’t think there’s much chance of the President’s poll numbers reviving before the election, he’s facing pretty much a perfect storm of his own making.

  • We should know what the new insurance rates for 2015 will be in September-October. Barring a backroom deal between Democrats and the insurance companies, rates will increase dramatically.
  • Foreign policy is a joke and that won’t improve.
  • Speaking of flat-lining, the economy is stumbling and that won’t be picking up any time soon.
  • Jobs? What jobs?
  • Immigration reform? Well, if somebody can duct tape John Boehner to a radiator in the basement of the Capitol Building, we shouldn’t have too much to worry about there.
  • The War on Women? Sure, that will get yelled about, but hopefully Republicans will point out that it’s really Democrats who are waging that war.

And on and on.

If Republicans can just hold their own for the next eight months, they’ve got a good chance of taking the Senate and then we might have the opportunity to see some real fireworks – joint House/Senate investigations on Benghazi and the IRS for starters. Bills repealing or at least neutering ObamaCare. Bills on Republican priorities like a real jobs program that will give the private sector the incentive to create real jobs.

Hang in there, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride

44 Babies Saved From Abortion So Far During 40 Days for Life Campaign

It wasn’t long into this campaign before we got word of the first turnaround outside an abortion center. And so far, we have reports of 44 babies saved from abortion – that we know of!

It takes faith and courage to pray and stand witness in front of an abortion facility. Some say it is a waste of time – but I beg to differ … and so do the moms who turn around at the last moment. God has not forgotten them … and neither should we.

Here’s what I mean.

——————————————————-
NORRISTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA
——————————————————-

David Bereit, 40 Days for Life’s national director, fired up the crowd of more than 150 people at the kickoff of the Norristown campaign, just outside of Philadelphia.

In addition to launching the inaugural campaign in Norristown, many people came from nearby Collegeville to celebrate the closure of the local Planned Parenthood abortion center in their community following twelve 40 Days for Life campaigns outside its doors.

postabortion4Little did the participants know they’d be celebrating again just days later.

“Praise God!” began the excited note from Victoria in Norristown. “Our first day – of the first-ever 40 Days for Life in Norristown – and our first baby saved!”

A couple of hours later, she let us know about even more blessings – two more babies had been spared from abortion. Victoria’s reaction? “I’m so excited!”

——————————————————-
CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA
——————————————————-

The 40 Days for Life team saw miracles unfold on Day 1 in Charlotte. “We had four saves today!” said John, the local coordinator. “We now have an ultrasound van with a registered nurse every day. Praise God!”

John said the peaceful vigil outside the abortion facility has had a great turnout so far, “including pastoral staff from Stonebridge PCA Church, who have begun a pro-life awareness program.”

——————————————————-
LANSING, MICHIGAN
——————————————————-

There was more good news from Lansing – no abortions! The facility was unexpectedly closed.

Cecilia, the 40 Days for Life coordinator in Lansing, had an opportunity to talk to a woman outside who said she wanted an abortion. “She allowed me to sit in her car and pray with her. It’s cold here!”

Cecilia prayed with her while the young woman cried softly. “She is a student and works part time — and is overwhelmed. ‘It’s going to be okay,’ I told her.” She shared pregnancy resource information with the student and encouraged her to schedule an ultrasound. “And she did!”

Please join the Lansing team in praying for this young woman – and her baby.
