Target furthered its commitment to advancing radical gender ideology this month when it partnered with a Satan supporter who called for the eradication of anyone who disagrees with the mutilation of children to supply transgender-themed merchandise to Target’s “pride” collection.

The recent collaboration between Target and the U.K.-based brand Abprallen and its designer “Erik,” a self-proclaimed “gay trans man,” features a sweatshirt emblazoned with a caduceus wrapped in a “cure transphobia not trans people” ribbon, a rainbow UFO tote bag that states “too queer for here,” and a pink “we belong everywhere” fanny pack.

“Being able to transition brings with it euphoria, comfort, self-love, and perhaps most importantly – hope,” Erik wrote in one Instagram post promoting a “transitioning saves lives” image. What Erik didn’t mention is the irreversible damage gender experiments yield, such as “sexual dysfunction, infertility, cardiac event[,] endometrial cancer,” life-threatening infections, and transition regret.

Erik’s products, which are showcased on Target’s website, average just a couple of stars. One five-star review penned by the designer, however, restated excitement that one of the largest U.S. retailers would stock this type of clothing.

“These have already got the transphobes infuriated with me and I feel like quite the celebrity to think that they believe this is all some big conspiracy and I have any power to brainwash anyone when I’m just some guy drawing pictures!” the designer wrote in an Instagram post announcing the partnership.

What Erik didn’t mention in the social media defense of Abprallen products is that “just drawing pictures” includes a long history of producing and selling goods that elevate Satan and transgenderism in the same breath. One quick glance at the designer’s website and Instagram shows dozens of designs featuring satanic and sacrilegious symbols such as pentagrams, “Satan respects pronouns” T-shirts, “gay as hell” stickers, and stained glass windows covered up by “trans bodies are holy.”

“So, for me, Satan is hope, compassion, equality, and love. So, naturally, Satan respects pronouns. He loves all LGBT+ people. I went with a variation of Baphomet for this design, a deity who themself is a mixture of genders, beings, ideas, and existences. They reject binary stereotypes and expectations. Perfect,” Erik wrote.

One particularly graphic image on the designer’s Instagram shows a naked demonic creature with a horned skull and mutilated breasts.

“Being called a demon is something I can cope with, and the idea of a trans demon is pretty damn cool, most of my work focusses on gothic or dark and satanic imagery juxtaposed with bright colours and LGBT+ positive messages,” Erik wrote in the caption.

Abprallen appears to have sold some of these products at an “Anti-Christmas Fayre Satanic Flea Market” in London in December of 2022.

In addition to promoting explicit evil, Erik often uses violent language and imagery, with products such as a “burn down the cis-tem” lighter, a “we bash back” mace, and “time’s up for transphobes” skull pins to call for action against people who take issue with radical gender ideology and the dangerous mutilation and castration it prescribes. Erik also sells merchandise promoting the murder of babies in the womb.

“In order to keep transphobes at bay we must eradicate them, it is very important to not engage in conversation with them – fascists do not listen to reason and they do not deserve the trans person’s valuable time,” Erik wrote in early March.

Target’s embrace of someone who promotes the explicit fusion of radical gender ideology and Satanism might seem recent but it’s not. In 2021, when a man dubbed a “homophobic heckler” asked a Target employee if the company supports “satanic pride propaganda,” the red-shirted employee replied “Yeah, both, Satan and Pride” without missing a beat.

Since 2012, Target has happily stocked the front of its stores with pro-LGBT T-shirts, accessories, pet items, party supplies, and decor. In recent years, Target expanded the reach of messages like “trans people will always exist,” “queer,” and “live laugh lesbian” to the children’s section.

Even well before the scheduled commencement of “pride month” in June, Target began selling “light binding effect” tops and “tuck-friendly” shorts in the children’s clothing section.

Target isn’t the only company elevating people and products that blend transgenderism and demon worship. In recent years, Hollywood stars like Lil Nas X and Sam Smith have tried to advance the LGBT agenda using demonic shoes, music videos, and performances with clear links to Satan.

Consider these quotes from two of our nation’s Founders.

“We have no government armed with the power which is capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other.” — John Adams, U.S. president 1797-1801

“We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind of self-government; upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.” — James Madison, U.S. president 1809-1817

It’s not hard to imagine what Adams and Madison would think of where the cherished society they helped build is headed. Some would say we are headed for hell, and while that is likely true for some, what I want to talk about is a different kind of hell on our horizon — tyranny.

Freedom without morality leads to tyranny.

Let’s look at the path.

That we are no longer able to “control ourselves” is apparent everywhere but let’s start in Salem, Massachusetts, where last month the Satanic Temple celebrated its 10th anniversary with “SatanCon 2023.”

The opening ceremony featured the destruction of “symbols of oppression” which — no surprise here — included the Holy Bible. And among the lectures attendees flocked to hear was one titled “Sins of the Flesh: Satanism and Self Pleasure.”

This “temple” claims to have 700,000 adherents globally, but they are always looking for new minds to warp. Just this week, the After School Satan Club, sponsored by the Satanic Temple, opened in a school in Pennsylvania that fought hard to keep the club out.

A federal judge ruled that the “sanctity of the First Amendment’s protections must prevail.”

Temple members demand unbridled freedom without any moral norms.

That’s exactly what our Founders said would destroy our republic.

The Founders took a calculated risk in giving citizens of the United States so much freedom, by allowing sovereignty to reside among the people. But if we’re going to govern ourselves without destroying ourselves, we have to know the difference between right and wrong.

That’s where religion comes in; it teaches us that crucial difference. Where we find ourselves now is somewhere darker than the in-between of right and wrong. We’ve entered a space where too many think there is no right and there is no wrong. It’s up to us, each individual, to arrive at our own (im)morality.

The Satanic Temple is fulfilling the worst fears of the Founders, and it’s not just that group. There are lots of others at work undermining our society, including the Democrat party that has heartily embraced a godless world view. Everything goes, everything gets redefined, everything gets hijacked by the radical left and there is no such thing as truth. This world view is why the Democrats can’t respect life, and why they are so in deep with the abortion industry.

The constitutional republic can’t survive if we get to a point where the people are no longer rooted in faith, and where those who are so rooted are required to choose between following that faith or following the law. And while most Americans can agree we don’t want to live in a tyrant state, that’s exactly where we will find ourselves, and very quickly, if we lose the anchor of our Constitution. Unbridled freedom that allows people’s passions to rule them inevitably leads to those people to trample on the rights of others.

The culture of “I do what I want” leads back to tyranny because the strong oppress the weak and if we have to rely on a strong government to rein in our worst urges, we have handed power to a tyrant.

We see the beginnings of our turn toward tyranny with abortion. The strong are oppressing the weakest and insisting — at least in certain abortion-friendly states   that everyone has to get on board with this view that the unborn are not part of the human family and thus not entitled to the same rights as those of us lucky enough to make it out of the womb.

As St. John Paul II wrote so presciently in “The Gospel of Life,” 1995, when a government legalizes abortion, “The State is no longer the ‘common home’ where all can live together on the basis of principles of fundamental equality, but is transformed into a tyrant State, which arrogates to itself the right to dispose of the life of the weakest and most defenceless members . . . when this happens, . . . the disintegration of the state itself has already begun. . .  This is the death of true freedom” (#20).

It’s time for every citizen to take up again, with fervor, the mantle of our Founding Fathers, and their commitment to both freedom and faith!

This past Monday morning, I was teaching hundreds of ministry school students at Christ for the Nations in Dallas on the topic of demons and deliverance. During the class, I stated that in the days ahead, I believed that satanic manifestations would become much more open and overt in our society. Rather than hiding himself in the culture, the devil will reveal himself more clearly.

After teaching, I got back to my room and began to read headlines and receive emails that confirmed the very thing I was saying. (More on that in a moment.)

Of course, we’ve been seeing this trend for years now.

One prominent example would be the rise of Drag Queens in our culture, some of them in overtly satanic attire, reading to toddlers in libraries, and performing at churches.

Another prominent example would be the “Shout Your Abortion” movement and the celebration of radical, pro-abortion legislation. This is in stark contrast to the old Bill Clinton adage that abortion should be “safe, legal, and rare.”

Back in the late 1960s and early 1970s, there was a radical feminist group with the acronym WITCH, standing for the Women’s International Terrorist Conspiracy from Hell. (I kid you not.) They certainly got their message across!

But most groups are not that overt (even if tongue in cheek), and gay activists learned decades ago that the in-your-face, “We’re here, we’re queer, get used to it” approach was not working. Instead, gay strategists adopted a policy of presenting themselves to be exactly the same as the couple next door, just like you in every way, except gay. (This was laid out in the watershed 1989 book After the Ball: How America Will Conquer It’s Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 90’s.)

So, from a strategic viewpoint, most groups wanting to bring about radical change to society do so in more covert, incremental ways rather than announcing, “We’re a terrorist conspiracy from Hell!”

In the same way, Satan doesn’t march around as a huge, horned dragon carrying a pitchfork.

As a senior demon counseled a younger demon in C. S. Lewis’s classic book The Screwtape Letters, “The fact that ‘devils’ are predominately comic figures in the modern imagination will help you. If any faint suspicion of your existence begins to arise in his mind, suggest to him a picture of something in red tights, and persuade him that since he cannot believe in that (it is an old textbook method of confusing them) he therefore cannot believe in you.” 

These days, however, it’s as if Satan is coming out in full force, red tights and all — if not literally, then metaphorically. What else can be said of the performance of “Unholy” at the Grammy Awards this past Sunday night? As the Breitbart headline announced, “Non-Binary Pop Star Sam Smith Performs BDSM, Devil-Themed ‘Unholy’ at the Grammys.” How lovely!

But even that only told part of the story.

As explained in more detail by the American Family Association, “During the annual Grammy Awards ceremony on Feb. 5, originally designed to recognize outstanding artists in the music industry, Pfizer pharmaceutical company felt it fitting to sponsor performers Sam Smith, who claims to be non-binary, and Kim Petras, who claims to be transgender. These two gave the nation a Satan-themed performance of their song ‘Unholy,’ in which Petras performed inside a cage with drag queens dressed in devil costumes, while Smith gyrated in a costume with devil horns sticking out from a top hat.

“The entire ‘performance’ depicted a hellish scene with lots of darkness, blood red colors and flames.”

So, you have: 1. the name of the song, “Unholy”; 2. both lead performers denying their biological realities, one of them wearing devil’s horns; 3. drag queens in devil costumes; 4. BDSM-related themes; 5. and the fires of Hell. I would say that is pretty clear!

No wonder podcaster Liz Wheeler tweeted, “Don’t fight the culture wars, they say. Meanwhile demons are teaching your kids to worship Satan. I could throw up.”

Compared to some other past hits (whose lyrics are virtually unrepeatable in moral circles), the lyrics to “Unholy” are relatively tame. It is the overall message of the Grammy performance that shouts out its depravity loudly and clearly.

Similar to this is the announcement from The Satanic Temple that it is raising funds to provide “free religious [meaning Satanic] telehealth medication abortion care in New Mexico.”

But this could be good news for us as followers of Jesus. The greater the darkness, the clearer our light is seen. May it shine brightly in front of the whole world! And may we shine as lights without shame, without compromise, and without hypocrisy.

And don’t be surprised if, in the days ahead, in front of your very eyes, you witness scenes as if taken straight out of the Bible where, in broad daylight, visibly demonized people get set free in Jesus’ name — dramatically, gloriously, and in full public view.

Things are heating up.
