You can’t celebrate America, school says

Students and parents at a Colorado high school are outraged after administrators turned down their request for a spirit week day honoring America because it might offend non-Americans.

“They said they didn’t want to offend anyone from other countries or immigrants,” a 16-year-old member of the student council told me. “They just really did not want to make anyone feel uncomfortable.”

The student council at Fort Collins High School had proposed having a day to celebrate the United States during next week’s Winter Spirit Week. The young people pitched “’Merica Monday” – and invited their classmates to dress in patriotic colors. Their proposal was promptly shot down by administrators.

“They said they didn’t want to be exclusive to any other country,” a 17-year-old member of the student council told me.

The students and parents who talked to me about this incident have asked to remain anonymous. The parents feared their children might face reprisals from liberal educators.

“It’s bizarre and idiotic that we’ve come to this crossroads in our society that we are having to sacrifice our own culture and belief system,” one of the parents told me. “I can’t even tell you how it got our blood boiling.”

After the administrators rejected the day to celebrate America, the teenagers offered a compromise – “My Country Monday.”

“We opened it up to everyone – no matter what country you are from,” the 17-year-old student told me. “That got declined, too.”

The school’s decision left students frustrated, confused and angry.

“It’s shocking,” the 16-year-old said. “There are men and women fighting for our country and we should be able to celebrate that and be proud that we live in a country where we are allowed to vote – the right to free speech. They won’t even let us celebrate it.”

The irony, said the students, is that they are required to participate in Cinco de Mayo celebrations. One member of the student council pointed out the hypocrisy – and noted that students were not being forced to dress in red, white and blue for “’Merica Day.”

“We were confused why we couldn’t do one day that was for America,” the student told me.

The parents said they are “so tired” of political correctness.

The principal at Fort Collins High School did not return my phone calls and neither did the assistant principal. A spokesperson for the Poudre School District sent me a statement acknowledging that they rejected the “’Merica Day” celebration.

“Building administration met with the students to discuss the inconsistency of this day versus the other planned theme days including PJ day and Twin day,” the statement read. “The students then suggested changing the first day to My Country Monday and administration agreed. This theme day allows students to showcase their pride in America and for international students, their country of origin.”

However, parents and students said that’s not accurate. They said My Country Monday was originally rejected last week and was only reinstated midday Monday – shortly after I called the school district and began making inquiries (a coincidence, I’m sure.)

I asked the district spokesperson to clarify their statement. The spokesperson did not return my message.

“They said they didn’t feel comfortable having a day celebrated where students might feel uncomfortable with the patriotism that students are showing,” one of the students told me.

Unbelievable. This is the United States of America. We welcome the huddled masses yearning to be free with arms wide open. But if you come to our land and take offense at our values and traditions, then as we say down South, “don’t let the door hit you where the good Lord split you.” 

And shame on the administrators at Fort Collins High School for treating American school children like second-class citizens.

To the young patriots at Fort Collins High School, I offer these words:

America, America, God shed His grace on Thee.

Don’t let your teachers tell you otherwise.

Donnie Spell, a farmer in Hope Mills, North Carolina is finding out just how intolerable people are.  Every year, the small town of 15,000 residents in south-central North Carolina holds its Independence Day parade and celebration and for years, Spell has had his old tractors in the parade.  This year, he was given permission to use ten old tractors in the parade, one of which would be hauling a trailer full of watermelons for sale.

When Spell lined up for the parade, officials noticed the sign on the side of the trailer full of watermelons and asked him to remove it.  They thought he had, but when Spell drove down the parade route, the sign was still draped over the side of the trailer and Spell was flying a Confederate Flag on tractor as he had done in a number of other parades.

Sure as shootin’, the town received some complaints from people that were offended by the sign, saying that it was racist and hateful.  Mayor Jackie Warner knows Spell and said:

“I think, if you talk to him, you’re going to see it’s not anything meant to be vicious.”

Town Manager John Ellis said they want to the keep the parade a ‘wholesome family event’, so they are taking measures to try to control such outrageously offensive racism as a simple sign promoting white history from ever being displayed in the parade ever again.

Why is it racist for a white person to promote white history, a white entertainment channel or any type of white professional organization but it’s not racist when blacks do it?  White people have been forced into tolerance of blacks while blacks are allowed to be intolerant of anything white.  The people that holler racism the most are usually the ones guiltiest of it.  People like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson Sr are among the most racist people I’ve ever listened to and yet they are making a fortune being racist themselves.

If one ethnic group is allowed to promote their background such as the blacks, then why can’t whites, Asians, American Indians, and so on?  They scream for equality, just like the gays, yet they don’t allow equality, just like the gays.  Blacks want privileges that others are not allowed to have.  They want preferential treatment over others.

Biblically, we’re all one race physically, the human race.  We’re all descendants of Adam and Eve and of Noah and his wife.  We are all related like or not.  Ever since the Tower of Babel, when God dispersed mankind across the globe, we have different ethnic groups but still only one race.

Spiritually, there are two races according to the Bible – believers in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and those who are not believers.  Believers will spend eternity with Christ in heaven while unbelievers will spend eternity in hell, separated from God for all of time.

I know which race I belong to and which ethnic groups my family came from.  I don’t hate the others nor am I intolerant of them.  I pray for the race of unbelievers and share my hope and assurance of eternity with them.  As for other ethnic groups; I consider them equal and wish they would do the same, nothing more, nothing less.

It’s “Oh, So Clear”, Yet We Are Too Blind as a Nation to See It


The following email goes around about once a year and always need to be read and passed along. I believe it’s one of God’s ways to remind us before it’s too late. Please take the time to read the following;

“In 1887 Alexander Tyler , a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh ,had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier: “A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, so that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship.”

“The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.”

It doesn’t hurt to read this several times.  Professor Joseph Olson of Hamlin University School of Law in St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts about the last Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29
Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 McCain: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million McCain: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: “In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was  mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low-income  tenements and living off various forms of government welfare…”

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the  “complacency and apathy” phase of Professor Tyler ‘s definition of democracy,  with some forty percent of the nation’s population already having reached  the “governmental dependency” phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal  invaders called illegal’s – and they vote – then we can say goodbye to the  USA in fewer than five years.

If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message.  If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom..

This is truly scary! Of course we are not a democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic .. Someone should point this out to President Obama. Of course we know he and too many others pay little attention to The Constitution. There couldn’t be more at stake than on Nov 2012.”” (Email ended)

As I have said since President Reagan left office that the Political Left has worked overtime to create a “DEPENDENT UNDERCLASS”. President Johnson’s “War on Poverty” was the beginning. They have succeeded in creating a 40%+ part of our Society as members of that  “DEPENDENT UNDERCLASS” That is an extremely large voter base who will NEVER vote to elect anyone that will take that away from them or make them earn it, or take drug test proofing they aren’t using those benefits to support a drug habit.
Changing this will not be easy, or solved with one election. We have to raise up men and women who will risk everything politically damaging to make those changes. Such changes won’t come at a small price, but a price I’m not sure we have enough PATRIOTS to fight the good fight, and sustain that FIGHT through to victory. Are you such a PATRIOT?
