Rep. Crockett: Hispanic Voters Have “Slave Mentality” and “Can Barely Vote”

One of the most consistent elements of the identity politics practiced by the left is its selectivity. Whether in politics or higher education, the outrage that comes from allegedly racist or insensitive comments is confined to targets on the right. A case in point is the deafening silence after a diatribe by Rep. Jasmine Crockett D-Texas, during which she accused Hispanic voters of having a “slave mentality” and said that they “can barely vote.” There was no vaporous segment on The View or condemnations on the floor from members.

Crockett has been celebrated in left-wing publications such as Vanity Fair for schooling her colleagues, which she describes as “old as sh*t.” She offered Vanity Fair her “distilled summary of what happens within the Latino community.” Not surprisingly, it is identity politics with a race edge:

“I’ve not run into that with the Asian community. I’ve not run into that with the African community. I’ve not run into that with the Caribbean community. I’ve only run into it with Hispanics. When they think of ‘illegals,’ they think of, you know, maybe people that came out of the cartels and that kind of, like, the criminal-type book or whatever. It’s insane.”

“It almost reminds me of what people would talk about when they would talk about kind of like ‘slave mentality’ and the hate that some slaves would have for themselves. It’s almost like a slave mentality that they have. It is wild to me when I hear how anti-immigrant they are as immigrants, many of them. I’m talking about people that literally just got here and can barely vote that are having this kind of attitude.”

The attack on Hispanic voters as including people who “literally just got here and can barely vote” did not even generate objections from many Democratic Hispanic groups. Imagine if Trump or a conservative commentator made this comment.

Ironically, just before the election, I wrote how recent immigrants seemed to have a particularly strong connection to our defining and collective values. That does not appear a view shared by the congresswoman.

Crockett was, if anything, inclusive in her attacks based on gender and race. She also attacked black men and women for voting for Trump. She just dismissed black men as hating women: “I’m going to chalk up to misogyny.” What is unimaginable is that any woman or person of color could vote on the merits against the Democrats.

Notably, after her loss, Hillary Clinton offered the same attacks on women as voting against her only because they are weak and self-loathing. She claimed that Kamala, who notoriously avoided interviews and could not think of “a thing she would do differently” from Biden, “ran a flawless campaign.” The problem is again self-hating women and minorities, adding, “I don’t trust White women. I said, I’m just telling you, and I think you need to have conversations with your sisters, because they are the group that failed Hillary Clinton.”

The claim that Hispanics “can barely vote” would not be tolerated from someone on the right. It is reminiscent of the controversy involving Democratic lawyer and former Clinton campaign general counsel Marc Elias over what some called inherently racist comments about Georgia voters. Elias argued that Georgia voters could not be expected to be able to read their driver’s licenses correctly — a statement that seemed to refer to minority voters who would be disproportionately impacted by such a requirement.

What is striking about the Vanity Fair article is that Democrats continued to rely on identity politics despite every indication that it was not working. Now, after losing both houses and the White House, they are doubling down on identity politics.

Outgoing Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Jaime Harrison used his farewell address to warn Democrats not to abandon identity politics as the touchstone of future campaigns.

Why Hispanic Voters Say ‘Adios’ to Democratic Party

Hispanic voters are bolting from the Democrats faster than Kamala Harris can say “Latinx.” This is one of the most significant trends in this year’s presidential campaign. The growing discontent is a result of economic frustration as well as a broader cultural clash over values, as many Hispanics reject the Biden-Harris administration’s radical positions on gender ideology and parental rights.

According to the most recent NBC/Telemundo poll, Harris leads former President Donald Trump with Hispanic voters by 14 percentage points. However, that is the smallest margin for a Democrat in over a decade. Every other presidential Democratic candidate since 2012 had an advantage of at least 36 points and, eventually, went on to win the Hispanic vote by similarly significant margins.

The NBC poll is far from an outlier. The latest Quinnipiac University survey shows that Harris’ lead among Hispanics nationally is down to single digits. In the key battleground states of NevadaNorth Carolina, and Pennsylvania, Harris is only slightly ahead. In the border state of Arizona, Trump is actually winning the Hispanic vote. This increased support of Hispanics for Trump and Republicans is driven by several factors.

According to the Pew Research Center, the economy is the top issue for Hispanic voters. Often with larger families and lower median incomes, Hispanics have been disproportionately hurt by crippling inflation and the massive influx of illegal immigrants into their communities. Under Trump, Hispanic unemployment hit a record low of 4% and, contrary to common assumptions, more than half of Hispanic voters support stricter border security measures.

Yet Hispanics are also disgusted by the Biden-Harris administration’s extreme cultural agenda. Two-thirds identify as Catholic or Protestant. And it turns out they aren’t thrilled about the latest “woke” school offerings: teachers chatting about sex with their kids in class and allowing adult men access to girls’ locker rooms.

An American Principles Project survey of Hispanic voters in Arizona and Nevada revealed strong opposition to these progressive positions. Over two-thirds surveyed said schools should stick to teaching the fundamentals and leave “sex and racial issues” to parents. Hispanics are repulsed by the Left’s obsession with “transgender kids” and “transgender girls of color,” and reports that reveal 5,700 minors underwent sex-change surgeries in the United States in the last four years.

Trump is making inroads with Hispanic voters by slamming “transgender insanity” and running ads denouncing Harris’s support for taxpayer-funded sex-change treatments and surgeries.

The blitz against Harris on cultural issues has been so effective that even Democrat strategists had to concede to The New York Times that it is “taking a toll in some races.” But wait, the Democrats have an ingenious trick up their sleeve!

The Harris campaign announced the launch of a coalition called “Hombres con Harris”—literally, “Men With Harris.”

The campaign apparently hopes this new group will help stem the party’s losses among Hispanic men. Just like “White Dudes for Harris” has been so helpful for her support among Caucasian males. But in truth, it’s the Democrats’ far-left agenda, not a lack of awkwardly named affinity groups, that is repelling Hispanic voters. Hispanics have historically voted Democrat, but they do believe in common sense and that parents know what is best for their children.

If the Republican Party wants to solidify and expand its gains with Hispanic voters, it must continue to champion commonsense policies that prioritize family values, parental rights, and economic opportunity.

Hispanic voters have had enough of being treated like a checkbox for the Democrats. They’re making their voices heard, and this time, it might just sound like “Adios!”

CNN Sounds the Alarm on Another Voting Bloc Fleeing the Democratic Party

High Asian American turnout in races around the country could signal a mass exodus from the Democratic Party, much like what is occurring among Hispanics, CNN reported Sunday. The successful recall campaign against San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin is one example, CNN Senior Data Reporter Harry Enten wrote, observing that Asian-Americans were a key factor in the vote. Boudin’s disapproval numbers were highest among Asian Americans and Hispanic voters prior to his recall(RELATED: Asian Americans Are Helping Lead The Charge Against Woke School Boards)

Boudin was recalled with 55% of the vote, CNN reported.

“Asian American voters are sick and tired of Democrats hurting our families by causing the highest inflation in 40 years, defunding the police, and ending merit-based education,” RNC Spokesman and Director of Asian Pacific American Media Nainoa Johsens told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “From the election of Glenn Youngkin in Virginia to the recall of San Francisco’s Chesa Boudin, the numbers show that the AAPI community is leaving the Democrat Party behind in droves and the shift is only accelerating.”

“Joe Biden’s radical agenda is out of touch with Asian American voters and Republicans are poised for big gains because the GOP is on the ground months before November to listen to the AAPI community’s concerns and provide real solutions based on our shared conservative values,” Johsens said.

Enten pointed to various Pew Research Center polls, highlighting President Joe Biden’s rapidly declining margins among Asian Americans.

“That’s far greater than the drop he’s had with the electorate overall,” Enten added.

CNN: “Democrats are losing ground with the fastest-growing political bloc: Asian Americans”

Some Republicans believe that reported discrimination against Asian Americans in academic admissions is one issue driving the shift. One notable case centers around Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Fairfax County, Virginia, when the school board changed the admissions policy to pursue “equity.”

The Supreme Court took a similar case involving college admissions earlier this year. The Trump administration sued Yale over admissions policies that allegedly discriminated against Asian Americans, but the Biden administration dropped the case.

Democrats face similar defections among Hispanic voters, with Republican Rep.-elect Mayra Flores defeating Democrat Dan Sanchez Tuesday in a special election to replace former Democratic Rep. Filemon Vela of Texas in a district that is 85% Hispanic.

The Democratic National Committee did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Ted Cruz Slams Racist MSNBC Host, Poses the 1 Question People Have Been Asking

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas responded to MSNBC host Joy Reid’s racist remarks against him by questioning why the network permitted her to get away with it and saying that comments of the like were leading Hispanics to turn their back on the Democratic Party.

On Tuesday, Reid discussed the Texas senator with guests Democratic Sen. Alex Padilla of California and NAACP legal counsel Janai Nelson, and made a reference to the movie “Django Unchained” — comparing Cruz to a traitorous house slave in the film for not supporting the For the People Act, which aims at altering voting processes across the country.

Cruz’s rebuttal was swift, calling out the host of the MSNBC segment “The Reid Out” for “using overt racial slurs” to make assumptions concerning how Hispanic-Americans should vote.

“I appreciate MSNBC lecturing me on how people of ‘my race’ are supposed to vote,” Cruz tweeted on Wednesday. “This arrogant condescension is a big reason Hispanic voters are moving right in large numbers.

“Also, why is MSNBC ok with their hosts using overt racial slurs (‘Stephen from Django’)?”

Cruz called the For the People Act, officially known as House Resolution 1, “Jim Crow 2.0” — a reference to President Joe Biden’s remarks about Georgia’s new voting law, which the president called “Jim Crow in the 21st Century.”

“Jim Crow laws were bigoted, racist, and disenfranchised millions of people,” Cruz said in a Tuesday tweet. “Those laws were drafted by Democrats and implemented by Democrats to keep Democrats in power. Today, Democrats are doing it again. The Corrupt Politicians Act is Jim Crow 2.0.”

Reid was highly critical of Cruz and the GOP after his comment, alleging that the Republican Party was attempting voter suppression in his state of Texas.

“Ted Cruz says a lot of stupid things,” Reid said Tuesday. “He does a lot of stupid things. But I personally — as a person of color, as a black person — am beyond offended that he would dare use the word ‘Jim Crow’ when his party is literally a ‘Jim Crow’ party at this point, trying to suppress the votes of people, including in his home state.”

She later called Cruz “Stephen from Django Unchained.”

Reid suggested Cruz was a traitor to Hispanics and defended HR 1, saying that if it fails to pass, America may never see free and fair elections again.

Republicans, however, have said that the act threatens election integrity and the rights of states.

“The legislation would strip states of their constitutional authority to run elections and allow the federal government to decree what’s best,” Republican Sen. Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia said in a Fox News Op-Ed.

“It would ban voter ID laws, which maintain the integrity of elections in my state and a majority of others … To put it simply: states don’t need Washington, D.C., to strip them of their authority and impose burdensome requirements to fix problems that do not exist,” Moore said.

Reid has made racist comments about Republicans in the past. She has made an “Uncle Tom” reference, alluding to the Harriet Beecher Stowe novel, about Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, whom she called “Uncle Clarence.” She has also called Republican Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina the token black person in the Republican Party.

Exclusive: Donald Trump Caravan Parades Through Deep-Blue Heart of Hispanic New Jersey

The caravan attracted 47 cars, organizers Frank Torres and Ramón Morejón told Breitbart News, in an area that Democrat Party candidate Hillary Clinton won by more than 50 percentage points in the last presidential election.

Both Torres and Morejón, who are Cuban American, say they have no official positions with the Trump campaign or any reason to believe the campaign knew the event was occurring. Torres is a registered independent voter and Morejón a registered Republican who admitted he voted for Trump reluctantly in 2016 but became an enthusiastic supporter in the past four years. Torres is a retired real estate professional, and Morejón runs a flower shop.

Trump did not attract any caravans in Hudson County four years ago nor any major public support. This time, Morejón told Breitbart News with pride, “We didn’t even get that many middle fingers.”

Hudson County is a solidly, uncontestedly Democratic area. Democrats took control, town by town, from the late 1800s to the early 1900s, building ironclad political machines through unions and social support for newly arrived Italian and Irish immigrants. As the Irish and Italian gave way to Cuban, Colombian, Dominican, and other Latino refugees and immigrants, the Democrats maintained power even in the face of an increasingly conservative, anti-socialist constituency because no adequately funded Republican Party opposition exists in the area. The machine only has to fend off the radical left, which remains distasteful to most voters.

Yet on Saturday, Trump supporters took over the most important street in the northern end of the county: Bergenline Avenue, which MacArthur fellow Junot Díaz once described as “a straight shot of Spanish for almost a hundred blocks.” All of Hudson County, including large cities such as Jersey City, is only about 43 percent Latino, according to the U.S. Census, but the municipalities Bergenline Avenue runs through average about 70 percent.

Photos and videos from the event show that the caravan did not cause any significant interruptions, as the cars simply went with the (usually slow on weekends) traffic. They flew flags, some wore “Make America Great Again” hats, and at least one couple dressed up as Trump and first lady Melania Trump, as it was also Halloween. Frank Torres led the caravan on his bicycle while dressed in all red, including the signature “USA” Trump hat:

Torres and Morejón both told Breitbart News they organized the event to celebrate America, not just President Trump, and to combat the “negative” messaging of the left.

“We just did it because we’re proud Cubans, and we just wanted to do something for our president and our country,” Torres said. “We did it because we’re tired of people talking negative stuff, you know. … I love this country, I came in 1970, five years old, and I love my freedom. I saw where it was going, and I said, ‘You know what? Let’s do something because people are just negative and negative and negative, and people don’t appreciate the United States of America.’”

“After the second debate, I was so frustrated, and I said, ‘How can this happen in the United States? How can they bash a president the way they do it?’” Morejón explained. “I planned the caravan, and I said, ‘People, please share it [the video] so the word gets around.’”

Bergenline Avenue runs through four municipalities – North Bergen, Guttenberg, West New York, and Union City – which means Morejón and Torres had inadvertently organized an event that would require cooperation with four police departments. The event began, Morejón narrated to Breitbart News, as a “crazy idea” he threw out into the virtual world through a Facebook video that Torres then helped him promote. Neither he nor Torres made a Facebook event or kept track of the interest levels or potential attendance numbers.

Morejón’s video – in which he said he owed it to his parents, who lost everything they owned to communism in Cuba, to organize an event against socialism and communism – spread virally in local circles and, it appears, made it to the West New York Police Department:

“All of a sudden, I notice a lot of people contacting me through [Facebook] Messenger. … In less than 12 hours, I had like 240 views,” he said.

“Then I got really worried because … Friday morning, I’m at my flower shop, and the police officer comes in, and I’m like, ‘Oh, shit. I’m in trouble!’” Morejón noted. “But no, all he wanted was details of the caravan.”

The police officer, from the West New York Police Department, collected as many details as possible and shared with the neighboring municipalities. Morejón says all four and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office worked with him to ensure a safe and legal gathering occurred, understanding that he was not an experienced political organizer.

“If you’re going to do an article … all I’m asking you is to please thank the police officers of all these towns and the county sheriff because they really tried to work out with me on how to go about it,” Morejón noted.

While a solidly Democrat area, Hudson County locals are renowned for their appreciation and support of their local police. Throughout the summer, when leftist groups organized protests and riots against the institution of policing nationwide, police departments themselves participated in or led protests – presumably against police departments in other parts of the country, not themselves – that remained entirely peaceful.

The crowd at the caravan included “friends, friends of friends,” Torres said, stating that most were Hispanic but not necessarily Cuban and that some “Americans” (meaning non-Hispanics) attended, as well”:

“We had everything,” Morejón added. “We have older people. We had young guys. … I’ve been in this country for 50 years; I’ve never seen anything like this, ever.”

Both organizers say the event attracted only minimal resistance, nothing extraordinary in urban New Jersey.

“A lot of the bystanders were raising their hands. A lot of people were quiet,” Torres noted. “There were a few people that said, ‘Loser,’ ‘Clown,’ and we said, ‘Thank you very much; you’re entitled to your opinion, and so are we.’”

Morejón added that one person threw an egg at a car towards the end of the caravan.

Morejón told Breitbart News he would not have expected four years ago to be the kind of person to organize a rally for Trump.

“In the beginning, I voted for him, and I did not like him. I did not like his look. I did not like his personality. … Now, I love everything about this guy,” he said of Trump. “I think he’s so open. He’s so himself. He has nothing to hide. You know, I think he’s an amazing guy. And then, if you look at it – did he do it for fame? No, he had fame. Did he do it for money? No, he had money. … He did it because he loves America.”

Torres, the independent, appeared to like Trump more during his first candidacy than Morejón did, but echoed his sentiment that Trump had won over many people during his first term.

“Trump is like us. He’s not a politician. He was a billionaire that wanted to be president,” Torres said, “got voted by the people, the regular folks, you know, blue-collar workers, and that’s why there is that connection.”

“We don’t care how he speaks,” he concluded. “Do you want a polished politician stealing, or do you just want a guy who says it how it is? And most people feel that way.”

Ann Coulter Letter: Trump: The Great Unifier

Trump: The Great Unifier

The modern Democratic Party is obsessed with voting blocs they call “Latinos,” “Hispanics” and the “blacks and browns.”

But apart from ethnic pimps trying to get money from the government, no authentic person calls himself a “Hispanic.” They’re “Portuguese,” “Cuban” or “Colombian” — and they don’t think of themselves as “brown.”

Everybody else is from a country.

It’s an insult to imagine that recent immigrants are all in a simmering rage at Trump’s affront to the brown masses. Salvadorans and Guatemalans resent having to pretend they’re Mexican — much less Mexican illegal immigrant rapists.

Mexico is heaving Hondurans out of their country. El Salvador and Honduras went to war over a soccer game. But we’re supposed to imagine that the moment they cross the Rio Grande, they all become blood brothers.

The only people who believe in something called “Hispanics” are white liberals and the RNC. The condescending class is not happy unless they are infantilizing minorities.

Republicans B.T. (Before Trump) worked overtime to reinforce these artificial group identities as one big happy (and aggrieved) family, constantly babbling about reaching out to — as Rand Paul says — “blacks and browns.”

Has he heard of Compton? The city memorialized in the song “Straight Outta Compton,” by the hip-hop group N.W.A. (modern translation: African-Americans With Attitude), is now majority Mexican.

This dramatic transformation didn’t happen because “blacks and browns” came together in peace and harmony in our vibrant melting pot, but because Mexicans moved in and decided they wanted blacks out, which they accomplished with violent racist attacks and drive-by shootings.

Unlike white Americans, Mexicans are unguiltable.

Nearly 20 years ago, both black and Hispanic Americans begged Congress to do something about illegal immigration. Rich white people see illegal immigrants only as their maids. Blacks and Hispanics live in their neighborhoods.

Terry Anderson, a black radio talk show host from South Central Los Angeles, told a U.S. House subcommittee on immigration in 1999 how illegal immigration had changed his predominantly black community. (That was then; today South Central is 99 percent Mexican.) He said all anyone ever hears about is the “poor, poor immigrant,” and the immigrant worker, “who works harder than the black person works and he will take the job that nobody else takes.”

But, Anderson said: “You never hear that every time that illegal alien comes here, he displaces somebody else ….

“You never hear about all the race-based organizations that step forth and advocate for the illegal alien. You have MALDEF, MEChA, LULAC, La Raza and others who are exclusive only to one race of people and advocate for those people only …

“(You) will never hear from these people about the 17-year-old black kid in my neighborhood who went to McDonald’s and was told you can’t work here because you don’t speak Spanish.”

In response to Anderson’s claim that only Spanish-speakers could get jobs at McDonald’s, Democratic congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee tried to put the onus entirely on McDonald’s. Anderson wasn’t having any of it.

Every time Rep. Lee tried to say the responsibility belonged to corporate America, Anderson responded with, “And to the illegal alien who takes the job. Yes, ma’am.”

Would any politician ever blame the foreign law-breakers themselves? That’s a rhetorical question — the answer is “no.” Until Trump.

A Latina witness, Angie Morfin from Salinas, California, told the committee that illegals were bringing “crime, gangs and an overloaded social safety net” and that “the Latino-American citizens of our community want illegals removed.” She blamed Reagan’s amnesty for the rise of Mexican gangs in the U.S., saying, “You gave them a right.”

Republicans obsessed with winning the “Hispanic vote” act as if these Hispanics don’t exist. The only Hispanics in their circle of concern are those who broke into our country illegally.

By constantly groveling to ethnic activists, the GOP simply confirmed the idea that people should see themselves as ethnic identity groups — and ought to be bloc-voting for whichever party offers their team the most goodies.

Their argument to Hispanics was: We’ll give you everything the Democrats are offering, but not as much. Paul Ryan’s “opportunity society!” was not cutting it.

Democrats must go home and laugh themselves silly at the GOP’s incompetence at sucking up to minorities. We buffaloed them out of talking about immigration once again!

Instead of cooing at immigrants and trying to lick their necks, Trump treats them like Americans.

They like America! They came here. And they’d like good-paying jobs without the endless competition of cheap foreign labor.

Trump’s plan to stop job-killing trade deals, H1-B workers replacing American workers, and the dump of millions of low-skilled workers on the country has made him the great unifier!

The media’s only move is to quadruple down on the phony “racism” charges. But to accuse Trump of “racism” because he wants to protect jobs for our own poor, working-class and native-born is like squeezing a balloon. His popularity with the employers of nannies and diversity coordinators may be in the dumps, but oh my gosh — look at what’s happening at the other end! It looks like Americans want jobs!

Let Hillary produce studies showing that it’s much better for African-Americans to have to compete with Mexicans. Yes, that’ll work!

No one really enjoys thinking of himself as a victim. Trump sees Americans as winners and he doesn’t care if you’re black, white, gay or a disabled Eskimo. He’ll bring back jobs for everyone — except the plutocrats outsourcing manufacturing and importing cheap labor while making the rest of us subsidize their foreign workforces.

Because of his positions on immigration, Trump has a sneaky appeal to everybody. For more on how great America is going to be under our next president, get In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!, out this week.
