Sens. Booker and Harris (Kavanaugh hearing)A public policy analyst contends that despite the loud protests and delaying tactics from Senate Democrats, Brett Kavanaugh ultimately will be confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has made it clear that the confirmation vote for Judge Kavanaugh before the full Senate will take place this week, regardless if the FBI has finished its latest probe on the allegations against Kavanaugh brought by California professor Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. Meanwhile Rachel Mitchell, the sex-crimes prosecutor hired by the GOP to question Ford during last week’s hearing, has released a memo that points to numerous inconsistencies in Ford’s testimony.

“Dr. Ford has struggled to recall important events relating to her allegations, and her testimony regarding recent events raises further questions about her memory,” Mitchell concluded. The case is even weaker than “he-said, she-said” because it’s complete uncorroborated, she added.

Abraham Hamilton III, general counsel and public policy analyst for the American Family Association, concurs with the prosecutor.

“As Rachel Mitchell said in her memorandum to members on the Senate Judiciary Committee, the allegations of Christine Ford do not even rise to the level of preponderance of evidence, which is one of the lowest standards in legal work that exists,” he explains. “The burden of proof in criminal cases is ‘beyond reasonable doubt.'”

In Hamilton’s opinion, this clearly isn’t about getting at the truth. The ultimate objective of Democrats – both on the Senate Judiciary Committee and in the Senate as a whole – he says “is to defeat Kavanaugh’s nomination, drum up additional support for midterm elections, hopefully flip the Senate, and onward to 2020 where they hope to regain the presidency.”

But Hamilton predicts the Democrats’ effort to block Kavanaugh ultimately will fail – and the judge will be confirmed to the Supreme Court.

Former U.S. attorney not buying Ford’s claims

“[Dr. Christine Blasey Ford] could remember none of the key facts: where it happened, when it happened, who got her there, who took her home – all of the sorts of things that are fundamental to a situation like this. In addition, none of the people to whom she pointed as being at the party corroborates her. In fact, they basically refute what she has said or have never heard of such a party, didn’t know anything about it – and in their subsequent FBI interviews in the last 48 hours, they have confirmed that they do not know what she is talking about.”
“I take a very different view than some people have taken of Dr. Ford. I think Dr. Ford is a very sick woman; I think she suffers from very serious emotional and mental problems. That testimony which she gave – and I have now watched it five times – was the testimony of an adolescent. It bore no resemblance to the testimony of an adult. And I believe it was an act. I believe she purposely designed her demeanor, her voice, her posture to make it look like she was a child to get sympathy.”
