Last week, the Senate’s Tea Party caucus was held in Washington as lawmakers met to discuss a variety of issues important to the grassroots movement that continues to dominate GOP politics.
The event, hosted by national tea party groups, was held at the Heritage Foundation and was an off-the-record event where lawmakers and Tea Party organizers could speak freely about the 2014 midterms, the direction of the country and other important issues.
“The purpose of the event was to communicate with the Senators about what the country needs and hear from the lawmakers their ideas and solutions,” stated Joel Frewa, Communications Director for TheTeaParty.net. “Sharing ideas and discussing the issues are important and it’s important that they hear and discuss what’s important to the millions of tea partiers rather than hearing from consultants what the country needs. There’s really no better source of information about what the country needs than the grassroots Tea Party Movement that has been very vocal about the actions needed in Washington.”
The caucus was a forum attended by various Tea Party and conservative groups such as TheTeaParty.net, Tea Party Express, Tea Party Nation, the Heritage Foundation, AMAC, 60 Plus and other important groups dedicated to advancing conservative principles on Capitol Hill.
“The broad spectrum of conservative organizations shows the Senators that the Tea Party is united in one voice, dedicated to bringing the message of limited government to them,” Frewa stated. “While Democrats try to drive a wedge through what divides us, these caucus meetings are important to show a unified message and to deliver concerns from our members directly to the Senators who are charged with the task of making the government work for the people.”
This caucus event was held for the Senate and the next Tea Party caucus, which is held quarterly, will assemble House Tea Party members for a forum to express ideas and thoughts on how to best serve the people and improve this nation’s government.
TheTeaParty.net coordinates and hosts these events and has already hosted four House caucus events and two Senate caucus events.

Pundits within the mainstream media often like to posture as if the Tea Party is dead; it would certainly be easier for the Harry Reids and the Nancy Pelosis if that were true. However, with millions of members nationwide, Tea Party lawmakers dominating GOP politics and a formidable presence on the Hill, it seems the movement that began as a manifestation of frustration has matured from flag-waving crowds to helping shape policy on a meaningful level inside government.
