Mom Gives Age 11 Son Christmas Present, Boy Breaks Down after Opening the Box

The holiday season is a time for celebration and giving thanks for the blessings we’ve received. For those experiencing loss, this element of the season can be hard to accept. In the most joyous time of year, some people are at their most depressed. For them, the cheery attitude and celebratory atmosphere only remind them of what’s missing from their life.
One family knows what this feeling is like, and they shared their story with Love What Matters, accompanied by a video.
“Our family lost twins in June 2016,” the post began.
“We all took it hard, but my son took it especially hard, not able to understand why this was happening when he wanted to be a big brother so badly,” the matriarch of the family wrote.
Above the post, the video showed an 11-year-old boy opening a Christmas present. The boy struggled with the twine on the package, then ripped off the wrapping paper to find a Harley Davidson box. He opened it with excitement.
“Bubble wrap! Yay!” he exclaimed as he pulled the wrapping from the box.
When he looked in the box a second time, at what was hiding below the bubble wrap, his smile faded. As you watch the boy’s face, you can see it transform as he starts to understand what is inside.
“After 15 months of trying again, we finally got pregnant with our Rainbow baby. We told our son, by wrapping up a framed sonogram picture,” the post read.
After a few moments of staring blankly at the sonogram, the boy broke down. He looked up at his mother with tears in his eyes before covering his face and sobbing.
“His reaction was heartwarming and more than I expected,” the boy’s mother wrote in her Facebook post. The recording ended abruptly after the young boy began to cry.
“I couldn’t record anymore at the end,” she wrote. “I had to go and sit on the floor with him, and cry together.”
She concluded her post by writing: “This baby is going to have the best big brother in the world, even with an 11.5 year age gap. I have a feeling they will be the best of friends.”
