Missouri Rolls Back Minimum Wage Hike In Effort To Bolster Business

Reported By Andrew West | July 6, 2017

The massive liberal outcry for an increase to the minimum wage in America has backfired in St. Louis, Missouri, and now the state is taking action.

In many locales across the nation, particularly in the ultraliberal west, the minimum wage for American workers has been bumped from $7 and change to $15.00 – an enormous increase with dire consequences.  Not only have massive corporations such as McDonald’s been forced to replace flesh and blood workers with kiosks, but small, family-run businesses are shedding employees faster than you can say “order up!”.

Now, after feeling the adverse effects of paying a minimum wage of just $10, Missouri is looking to roll back the destructive switch in order to preserve the state’s heritage as a business-friendly destination.

“And Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens agrees. Next month, the minimum wage will return to $7.70 an hour — ten bucks an hour was a mistake, he says.

“‘Despite what you hear from liberals, it will take money out of people’s pockets,’ Greitens said.

“Cities all over the country have been boosting their minimum wage. It’s up to $15 an hour in Seattle, but it’s going in the opposite direction in St. Louis.

“But after nationwide protests, the minimum wage went up on July 1, or will go up soon — from Chicago to Flagstaff, Arizona, and Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. “

In St. Louis, several mom and pop restaurants were particularly hard hit by the change that just happened to coincide with an increase in product costs and taxes.  This triple-whammy of expenditures had many fearing for the future of their businesses.

Liberals continue to push the boundaries of entitlement and welfare in our nation, and their constant push for an unreasonable $15/hr minimum wage is just another symptom of that sickness.  To require any business to provide even the most inane of employees with a wage of such magnitude, especially given the sudden nature of these changes and the severity of the increase, is downright destructive.  American businesses will surely need to pass these costs along to the consumer, inflating prices and decreasing bank accounts.

In reality, the minimum wage hike will be directly transferred right back to the consumer in the form of those inflated prices, negating the entire experiment altogether.  If you make more money, but also have to spend more of it so that other employees can get their enhanced wage, you’ll find yourself at a net zero change.  It becomes a farcical campaign promise from the left that, in reality, is nothing more than a ball and cup magic trick where you simply move the money around instead of creating it or spending it.

St. Louis Cardinals Ignore Pressure From LGBT Community to Cancel Christian Day Speaker

The LGBT community is up in arms after the St. Louis Cardinals refused to back down after taking a massive stand for Christianity. The team’s “Christian Day” event this year features Lance Berkman, former Cardinals All-Star Outfielder.

Berkman, a Christian, was criticized when in 2015 he spoke out against transgender bathrooms. The LGBT community branded Berkman a homophobe over his opposition to a Houston city ordinance that would allow individuals to choose bathrooms based on their gender identity rather than their biological sex.

In an interview with The Houston Chronicle at the time, Berkman said that “Tolerance is the virtue that’s killing this country.”

A spokesman for the PrideCenter of St. Louis Pride released a statement expressing his displeasure with the invitation to Berkman.

“Pride St. Louis is disappointed by the decision of the St. Louis Cardinals to provide a public platform for Berkman, an individual whose words and actions towards the LGBTQ+ are divisive and demeaning,” the statement said.

“We know that the Cardinals can do better, and we want to extend an offer to help them by co-organizing their official LGBT Pride Night at Busch Stadium. Let’s work together to promote love, diversity, and inclusion,” the statement continued.

Many would argue that rather than “divisive and demeaning” what Berkman said about the issue is pretty commonsense.

“The issue is, what to do about a 15 or 16-year-old boy who thinks he’s a girl and wants to shower with the girls,” Berkman said. “Maybe he is [transgender], maybe he’s confused. But I wouldn’t want him in the shower with my daughters. We shouldn’t have the rights of 2 percent of the population trump the rights of the other 98 percent.”

Furthermore, it’s pretty hypocritical of the PrideCenter to lecture the Cardinals about diversity and inclusion while they insist Berkman be excluded from the event because of his beliefs.

The Cardinals, however, are sticking to their guns. The team responded to the criticism by pointing out the 30-year tradition of “Christian Day” welcoming “all types of people and organizations.” It also pointed out that it would host LGBTQ Pride Night at Busch Stadium.

The left will continue to try to silence anyone and everyone who disagrees with them — hats off to the Cardinals for not backing down to the pressure.

Why Do Progressives Want to Whitewash FDR’s Racism?

waving flagBy Pamela Adams June 17, 2016

Four months before Hitler invaded Poland, officially starting World War II, Jews were fleeing Germany by the thousands. Captain Schroder agreed to take a shipload on his luxury cruise liner to Cuba. Shortly before leaving, he was informed Cuba rejected most of the visas issued to his passengers. He left with them anyway, praying for a miracle.

Covering up a portrait of Adolf Hitler in the dining hall, Schroder made sure his passengers were given the dignity and respect they deserved. They were fed the best food, given the best entertainment, provided Friday night religious services, and furnished with luxuries denied them for years.

Upon arrival at Cuba, the St. Louis was not allowed to dock. Captain Schroder worked for a week in vain to allow his passengers to disembark. He was denied. Only 22 Jewish refugees were allowed entry as they did have acceptable passage, along with four Spanish citizens and two Cuban nationals. One gentleman, so distraught over returning to Nazi Germany, attempted suicide. He was taken to a hospital in Havana for treatment for his wounds.

Captain Schroder turned to America, pleading to President Franklin D. Roosevelt for help. Claims of improper paperwork, German Jewish immigration quotas and national security were given as excuses for rejecting the passengers. Afraid Schroder would run his ship ashore in Florida, forcing America to accept the refugees, the Coast Guard was sent to watch the St. Louis as it sailed close to our shores.

Finding no help anywhere in North America, Schroder was forced to return to Europe. Determined to be the liberator of his remaining 907 passengers (as one person died during the voyage), Schroder refused to return his ship to Germany until all the refugees were given protection in other countries. The United States finally stepped in and helped secure those arrangements in European countries.

Franklin D. Roosevelt FDROnce those agreements for asylum were made, Captain Schroder docked his boat in Antwerp, Belgium, on June 17th. The United Kingdom accepted 288 passengers while France welcomed 224, Belgium accepted 214, and the Netherlands received 181. In less than a year, Hitler invaded Belgium and France in May of 1940, again threatening those refugees who for a moment had a taste of true freedom. It is estimated that 254 of the 907 returned to Europe were victims of the Holocaust, loosing their lives in concentration or internment camps.

Progressive Liberals are citing this incident as reason why America must accept Syrian refugees. Thanks to their rewriting of history, they don’t even realize how wrong they are.

Roosevelt and his administration claimed these refugees could contain German spies and we could not take that risk. There was one case in 1942 that was exploited to perpetrate this propaganda, giving the government cover to reject millions of Jews over several years.  Historians believe this case was overblown and sensationalized in the media. On the other hand, we know from their own documents that ISIS is infiltrating Syrian refugee camps with the express purpose of making it to America. Jewish refugees included many women and children, while Syrian refugees are dominated by twenty-something males. It is estimated 1 in 50 refugees is an ISIS fighter.

Roosevelt rejected the Jewish refugees like Obama is rejecting those truly being persecuted and slaughtered by ISIS: Christians.

Progressive liberals refuse to hear any argument for rejecting Syrian refugees, accusing the opposition of Islamophobia. What has been conveniently kept hidden, that is until recently, is Roosevelt’s obvious distain for the Jewish people. In 1923, he limited the number of Jews allowed in each class at Harvard. He accused the Jewish people of dominating economies, monopolizing predominate professions, and overrunning populations. During his 12 years as president, there is only one year he allowed America to reach its quota of German Jewish immigrants, usually keeping it under 25% of the allowed number.

Roosevelt’s racism and bigotry was not limited to Jews. While he used the European conflict to reject German Jews, he used the Pacific conflict to round up and imprison Japanese-Americans. Again claiming national security, he placed them in internment camps here in the United States in conditions slightly better than Hitler’s. Roosevelt wrote in a 1925 column for the Macon Daily Telegraph, “Anyone who has traveled in the Far East knows that the mingling of Asiatic blood with European or American blood produces, in nine cases out of ten, the most unfortunate results.” He continued, Japanese immigrants are not capable of assimilation into the American population.”  Americans then and now admire his racism.

We have refused to learn and understand history and progressives are repeating every horrible mistake progressives have made. Since Obama took office, Islamic extremists have attacked us in Boston, Chattanooga, Fort Hood, San Bernardino, and now Orlando, just to name a few. And who does Obama and the media blame? Christians and right-wing constitutionalists, just like Hitler and Roosevelt blamed the Jews.

The Pulse nightclub massacre is proving the mistake we are making now is become more and more catastrophic. It is leading to devastating consequences, but I will continue to pray I am proven wrong.

But that’s just my 2 cents.

AFDI Rolls Out New Free Speech Billboard Campaign Featuring Muhammad Cartoon

waving flagby Pamela Geller 8 Jun 2015

St Louis Muhammad

The new free speech campaign went up on 100 billboards today in St. Louis.

Geller explained: “Drawing Muhammad is not illegal under American law, but only under Islamic law. Violence that arises over the cartoons is solely the responsibility of the Islamic jihadists who perpetrate it. Either America will stand now against attempts to suppress the freedom of speech by violence, or will submit and give the violent the signal that we can be silenced by threats and murder.”

“Speech that is offensive to some must not be curtailed, but protected (i.e., the Mohammed cartoons). Freedom of speech is the foundation of a free society. Without it, a tyrant can wreak havoc unopposed, while his opponents are silenced. If speech that offends a group is outlawed, that group has absolute power, and a free society is destroyed. A group that cannot be criticized cannot be opposed. It can work its will no matter what it is, and no one will be able to say anything to stop it.”freedom

Geller added: “There is nothing about this cartoon that incites violence. It is within the established American tradition of satire. If America surrenders on this point, the freedom of speech is a relic of history.”free speech

AFDI Vice President Robert Spencer stated: “Many people on both the Left and the Right are saying that we should do nothing to provoke Islamic fundamentalism. The immediate answer would seem to be that we should do nothing to provoke violent jihadis, that the prudent thing to do would be to avoid doing things that anger them. But if we did that, they would not they stop coming at us. Last September, an Islamic State spokesman boasted: ‘We will conquer your Rome, break your crosses, and enslave your women, by the permission of Allah, the Exalted. This is His promise to us; He is glorified and He does not fail in His promise. If we do not reach that time, then our children and grandchildren will reach it, and they will sell your sons as slaves at the slave market.’

“In light of that, what is the point of asking whether or not we should provoke them? They’re already provoked. A more useful question now is whether it is really productive and helpful to signal to them that we will acquiesce to their threats of violence and change our behavior accordingly, or whether we will instead signal to them that their violent threats are not going to frighten us into submission.”

The ads have been submitted to run on billboards in the St. Louis area. The next city will be going up tomorrow.

AFDI stands for:

  • The freedom of speech – as opposed to Islamic prohibitions of “blasphemy” and “slander,” which are used effectively to quash honest discussion of jihad and Islamic supremacism;
  • The freedom of conscience – as opposed to the Islamic death penalty for apostasy;
  • The equality of rights of all people before the law – as opposed to Sharia’s institutionalized discrimination against women and non-Muslims.
