Senators Want Answers: 121 Illegal Immigrants Avoid Deportation, Now Charged With Murder

More than 100 convicted criminals who remained in the U.S. despite receiving deportation orders between 2010 and 2014 now face murder charges, according to the agency charged with carrying out such deportations of illegal immigrants. U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement reports that 121 convicted criminals who were never removed from the country face murder charges today.

In response, Sens. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., of the Judiciary Committee submitted a letter on June 12 requesting a “multi-departmental response” from Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Secretary of State John Kerry and Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson. In their letter, Grassley and Sessions cite Immigration and Customs Enforcement statistics that show 1,000 of the 36,007 criminally-convicted illegal immigrants released from custody in fiscal year 2013 have been reconvicted of additional crimes.

The senators wrote that the murders committed by the 121 convicted criminals “could have been avoided” had they not been released. As a result, Grassley and Sessions are requesting an explanation from the Obama administration officials concerning the government’s decision to release the convicted criminals before deportation.Only Reason

The senators also ask for information concerning the future of U.S. initiatives to deport convicted criminals and whether immigration officials are “fully leveraging existing tools and resources to prevent these dangerous outcomes.” However, Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Sarah Saldana wrote in a recent letter that convicted criminals may be released, even if the convicted individuals face deportation charges. In fact, the agency states some individuals who face deportation charges are not required to be detained by law.Why

This primarily manifests itself though the Supreme Court’s ruling in Zadvydas v. Davis, which requires Immigration and Customs Enforcement to release those who are being detained if the deportation does not occur within 180 days. Of the 121 convicted criminals, 24 were released because Immigration and Customs Enforcement could not deport the criminals within 180 days, as lawfully required.just-stop-300x200

Additionally, Grassley and Sessions’ letter claims that the majority of convicted criminals released due to the Zadvydas v. Davis ruling are from one of 12 countries. Nearly one-third of these criminals are originally from Cuba. Grassley and Sessions requested a statement from Kerry to delineate actions planned to “incentivize cooperation” with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement’s removal efforts. Both senators also requested a response from Johnson asking if initiatives including the visa waiver program had been implemented in order to “promote compliance with ICE removal efforts among recalcitrant countries.”Really with logo freedom combo 2

Stopping jihad in America; The Paris atrocities reveal the risks of leaving the border uncontrolled

The terrorist attacks on France are a reminder that the broken U.S. immigration system isn’t just about saving American jobs, but keeping out terrorists who are itching to make similar attacks in America. In the wake of the Paris attacks that killed 17 men and women last week, security officials have warned that the United States is a target for mayhem, too. President Obama’s relentless determination to open the nation’s borders to just about everyone makes it considerably easier for the Islamic jihadis to prepare a strike. We shouldn’t need a violent episode here to remind everyone that a nation that won’t control its border is no nation at all.

Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, a Republican, has taken the explosive immigration issue head on, producing a 25-page pamphlet titled “The Immigration Handbook for the New Republican Majority,” which he distributed to all Capitol Hill Republicans this week. Mr. Sessions’ focus is the economic harm caused by uncontrolled immigration, but his battle plan for controlling immigration would enhance the nation’s security as well.

“President Obama has engaged in a sustained campaign to collapse immigration enforcement,” Mr. Sessions writes. “As long as the president continues to ignore the law, order his officers to free illegal immigrants, and refuse to remove individuals who are here illegally, the problem will only get worse.”obama-border-is-open-378x257

U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., who calls himself the president’s “wingman” in the campaign to bend the law to fit the White House agenda, conceded in Paris while avoiding the solidarity march that the United States faces similar threats: “It’s something that frankly keeps me up at night, worrying about the lone wolf or a group of people, a very small group of people, who decide to get arms on their own and do what we saw in France.” If the man who left the gate open to terrorists is worried, the rest of Americans should be, too.

The plotters of the Charlie Hebdo atrocity are said to have traveled to Yemen to train for terror. Yemen has become a training ground, preparing fanatics for the export of jihad. Breitbart News reported in August that four Yemenis were caught trying to sneak across the U.S. border in 2014, and another 28 either turned themselves in or were apprehended at official ports of entry. Twenty-eight persons from Pakistan, another breeding ground for radical Islam, were picked up at the border, and 211 others were stopped at ports of entry.Wake up America

With only five-hundredths of 1 percent of the nation’s estimated 12 million illegals removed in 2014, according to Mr. Sessions, it’s not difficult to imagine that radicals looking for targets of opportunity are walking the streets of America, plotting murder and mayhem. It’s further disturbing that Mr. Obama weakened the legal immigration process last year by relaxing restrictions on applicants who show ties to terror organizations.Obama Muslim collection

There are encouraging shafts of hope in an otherwise gloomy prospect that the president’s failure can be overcome. Two-dozen states, led by Texas, have sued the Obama administration for its malfeasance of duty, arguing that the president’s executive action granting amnesty to 5 million illegals is unconstitutional. A federal court in Brownsville, Texas, is scheduled to hear the case Thursday. Republican members of Congress who are meeting in Hershey, Pa., this week should use Mr. Sessions’ immigration pamphlet as a map to design a strategy to regain control of the nation’s border. Resolving to withhold even a dime for the president’s amnesty scheme, which the House endorsed Wednesday by a vote of 236 to 191, is a good place to start.

Jeff Sessions Stands Against Amnesty. It’s a lonely stand, help him today!

Jeff Sessions, one of the only senators willing to speak the truth about illegal immigration, takes John Boehner’s latest version of the Gang of Eight’s immigration amnesty offering to President Obama apart.

The border crisis is the direct and predictable result of the President’s sustained policies undermining America’s immigration laws.

The President’s continued determination to carry out this nullification remains the singular obstacle in the way of restoring lawfulness. It is therefore odd that the House working group did not mention President Obama even once in their released findings. Indeed, they made no mention of the President’s threat of sweeping new executive actions. Multiple reports indicate that these imminent actions are likely to take the form of administrative amnesty and work permits for 5-6 million illegal immigrants. Any attempt at improving the border situation would be rendered utterly void if the President follows through on his dramatic nullification acts. How can Congress ignore this brewing constitutional crisis? In fact, granting the President new funds without tackling these orders would be an institutional surrender to the planned illegality.

obama-border-is-open-378x257Let’s not mince words, John Boehner is the President’s point boy on amnesty.  The US Chamber of Commerce has his soul locked in a vault along with those of John McCain, Lamar Alexander, Jeff Flake, Jeb Bush, and a host of pro-amnesty Senators and Reps.  Does Boehner speak for the base of the Republican Party?  He should ask Eric Cantor.

So, what specifically is wrong with Boehner’s bill and why does it seem to insure not only amnesty for those illegal aliens already here, but continue to encourage the flood coming from Mexico and Central America?

“The document also appears to cement the idea that anyone who shows up unlawfully at our border is presumptively entitled to an asylum hearing in the United States,” Sessions said. This cannot be so. We cannot allow unjustified claims of asylum to overwhelm our system. Also, because the working group does not explicitly demand a narrowing of the conditions for asylum, the end result of their plan may paradoxically be that more illegal immigrants are eventually granted asylum—enticing even greater numbers to arrive on the promise of speedy grants of lawful status.”

Remember this when you hear politicians blathering on about how great Boehner’s bill is.  Call your Representative, tell him or her to vote NO on Boehner’s immigration farce.  You can join by calling your representatives at (202) 224-3121.  If you don’t know your Rep, or you’d like to call directly to their office, go HERE, type in your address and you’ll get the info you need.

Your calls can make a difference.  Yesterday, the Capitol Hill switchboard melted down with calls from people like you urging their Representatives to stop amnesty.

And Senator Sessions, thank you for your steadfast service.
