Donald Trump Shrinks Federal Monuments In Utah: ‘You Know Best How to Take Care of Your Land’

President Donald Trump used his authority under the Antiquities Act to shrink the size of two massive national monuments designated by former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton. Trump returned the land back to the people of Utah.

“The families and communities of Utah know and love this land the best, and you know the best how to take care of your land,” Trump said during a visit to Utah. “You know how to protect it, and you know best how to conserve this land for many, many generations to come.”

Trump took the unusual step of shrinking the amount of land protected by the Antiquities Act, despite an outcry from leftist environmental groups.

“I’ve come to Utah to take a very historic action to reverse federal overreach and restore the rights of this land to your citizens,” Trump said during the event, which included Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke, Utah Senators Orrin Hatch and Mike Lee, as well as Governor Gary Herbert.

Obama designated 1.35 million acres of land to serve as the Bears Ears National Monument right before he left office in 2016. Clinton designated 1.9 million acres in Utah as the Grand Staircase-Escalante monument. Both monuments were reduced after Secretary Zinke conducted a study of both monuments.

The president reminded the audience that the Antiquities’ Act required a president to protect the “smallest necessary area” for conservation. He commented that previous administrations “severely abused” their powers under the Antiquities Act to lock up millions of acres of land and water under federal control.

“With the action I’m taking today, we will not only give back your voice over the use of this land, we will also restore your access and your enjoyment,” Trump said.

ObamaKingGeorgePIX-300x128For months, an American Marine has lingered in a Mexican jail for having accidentally brought firearms into Mexico. On March 31st, 2014, Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi missed his exit near San Diego and accidentally drove into Mexico with no way to turn around. The Marine carried three loaded firearms in his truck and was arrested and has remained in Mexico’s infamously horrid prison system ever since.  

While the Obama Administration has concerned themselves with Michael Brown’s death and as the vacationer-in-chief remains MIA on Martha’s Vineyard, taking breaks to fundraise for Democrats on occasion, the Obama Administration has done nothing to secure the release of the American veteran who lingers in a jail cell.

One man, however, has an idea. Ryan Zinke, the former SEAL Team Six Task Force Commander and current Congressional candidate in Montana, sees the current situation regarding Sgt. Tahmooressi unacceptable. His solution? Send the Marines into Mexico and take back our soldier. 
“If I was the first executive of the United States, I would have called the first Marine division and told them to go get their MarineCorpsSealmarine back, and I would give them the equipment to do it,” Zinke revealed in a recent interview with Breitbart News.
 
“I cannot fathom why the media is not pounding the issue,” Zinke explained. “Here is a young marine who’s being held in a Mexican prison and where is this administration? Where is our country? We need to demand that this marine comes back home.” 
Breitbart News reported on Zinke’s outstanding resume and noted, 
After spending two separate tours with the SEAL Team Six, he served as a Special Operations Officer in Europe commanding the SEAL Joint Task Force TWO in support of Special Operations missions in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, and Kosovo. He was elected to the Montana State Senate in 2008.
 
Zinke considers himself an optimist and feels America can regain its position as the world’s leader, but we can’t do it under this administration. “We can get respect back, but we can’t lead from behind,” he explained. Moreover, he says that “You lead from the front by doing what you said you were going to do. When you say you are going to be on Israel’s side, then you take its side.”
 
“If during the Reagan years you were to say that Egypt would be a closer ally to Israel than America, no one would believe it,” said the commander. Bannon agreed, saying that the turnabout is “absolutely shocking.” 
2Zinke is absolutely correct. This administration is, seemingly, only interested in playing hardball with Americans who resist their radical agenda. On the world stage, however, the Obama Administration is cowardly and flighty on important issues and thoroughly uncommitted to American interests.
 
If the American military is, indeed, dedicated to the mantra of “leave no man behind,” then Obama must send in troops to retrieve our soldier if he is not man enough to force the release of Sgt. Tahmooressi through diplomacy.
