Fury is brewing at Rocky Mountain High School, in Colorado, after a multicultural student group were encouraged to recite the Pledge of Allegiance over the loudspeaker in Arabic – replacing ‘one nation under God’ with ‘one nation under Allah’.

Following Monday’s pledge, Principal Tom Lopez has been inundated with complaints from outraged parents concerned that saying the Pledge in any language other than English is unpatriotic.

Standing by his controversial decision, Principal Lopez has said that despite the irate telephone calls and emails, he is not in any way or form trying to push an Islamic agenda at the Fort Collins school.

‘These students love this country,’ said Lopez to Fox News.

‘They were not being un-American in trying to do this. They believed they were accentuating the meaning of the words as spoken regularly in English.’

At the school, the Pledge of Allegiance is recited once a week and on Monday, a member of the Cultural Arms Club at Rocky Mountain High School read out an Arabic version.

The pupils sought the permission of Principal Lopez, who previously had allowed the Pledge to be read out in French and Spanish.

However, the backlash began from students hours after the recital and has continued through the week as angry parents have waded into the controversy.

‘We understand not everybody would agree with the students’ choice,’ said Danielle Clark, communications director of the Poudre School District to Fox News.

‘We’ve heard there are some who are upset.’

Clark said though, that the club has a history of reading the Pledge in different languages and some parents have emailed to say it ‘was a great thing’.

And she added that the students had asked permission from the principal.

‘We deferred to the students because it’s their deal,’ she said to Fox News.

Students at the school rushed to the classmates defence, keen to highlight the motto of the Cultural Arms Club which seeks to ‘destroy the barriers, embrace the cultures.’

‘No matter what language it’s said in, pledging your allegiance to the United States is the same in every language,’ student Skyler Bowden told The Coloradoan.

The issue for some parents and pupils at the school is that in an Arabic translation of the Pledge of Allegiance, ‘one nation under God’ is replaced with ‘one nation under Allah’.

‘Obviously in Arabic, you would use the word Allah, but Christian Arabs would use the word Allah,’ said Ibrahim Hooper, of the Council on American Islamic Relations.

‘It’s not necessarily specific to Islam and Muslims.’

Principal Lopez has borne the brunt of the criticism of the decision to allow the recital – and some have gone as far as to label him as a traitor.

‘They claim they are outraged that this is blaspheming a real major tenet of our patriotism – which in their mind the Pledge of Allegiance is only in English,’ said Lopez.

Other parents have accused him of ‘pushing a Muslim Brotherhood agenda – to push Islam into the school.’

‘How on earth is it un-American to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in another language,’ said Hooper to Fox News.

‘It doesn’t make sense unless the people complaining are anti-Muslim or anti-middle eastern bigots.’

Indeed, the embattled head is becoming wary at the number of complaints and level of abuse he has received.

‘I’ve been shocked with prejudicial statements that have been made,’ said Lopez.

‘I’ve been shocked with the lack of seeking understanding. There’s definitely suspicion and fear expressed in these people’s minds. There’s some hate.’

Lopez says the school is a place of inclusion where one message can be communicated in many different ways.

‘When they pledge allegiance to United States, that’s exactly what they’re saying,’ Lopez said. ‘They’re just using another language as their vehicle,’ he said.

Students Recite Pledge in Arabic and Say ‘One Nation Under Allah’

The effort to destroy American patriotism has reached a new level at Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, Colorado.  According to Principal Tom Lopez, the Pledge of Allegiance is recited at the school every Monday and I think that’s great, especially considering the fact that many public schools today never recite the Pledge.  When I was in public school, it was recited first thing every day.

The school’s multicultural club has been translating the Pledge of Allegiance into other languages including French and Spanish.  Lopez has allowed them to recite the foreign translations over the schools PS system on occasion.  No one seemed to mind and there were no complaints that I heard of.

However, the club then translated the Pledge into Arabic and in so doing, changed the ending to ‘one nation under Allah.’  Principal Lopez approved of the translation and once again allowed the club members to recite the Arabic Pledge of Allegiance over the school’s PA system.

It wasn’t long before complaints from parents and citizens in the area started to come in to Lopez’ office.  Some of the complaints were lodged against the use of Arabic in general and others were lodged against the phrase ‘one nation under Allah.’  Lopez says that some of the complaints have been threatening.

I read a justification for French and Spanish in one article but I personally disagree.  The article said that the French helped us win the Revolutionary War and gain our independence.  However, in today’s France, America is a curse word and many French people that have forgotten about how we liberated them from Nazi Germany, hate American and everything it stands for.  Additionally, they now have a socialistic government and leader.

Spanish was justified on the ground that there are millions of Hispanics in the US and that they make up nearly 20% of Colorado’s population.  I’m not sure what the percentage of legal versus illegal Hispanics there are, but I’ve seen figures that state that there are between 11 to 15 million illegal Hispanics in the US.  Illegal means they violated the law and therefore should be treated as criminals and made to be held accountable for their crimes and deported.

But to allow students to recite America’s Pledge of Allegiance in Arabic offends me in two ways.  First is the ‘one nation under Allah.’  Sorry folks, but Allah and the God of the Bible and our Founding Fathers are not the same thing.  There are huge differences between the Muslim Allah and the Christian/Jewish God of the Bible.  To change the Pledge to say Allah is offensive to me as a Christian and as an American.

Second, there are millions of Arab Muslims that have vowed to see the United States destroyed or converted into an Islamic nation.  They are working hard to make themselves appear like they are our friends, when in reality they want to change everything that is good and wholesome about America.

Arab Muslims are already incorporating Sharia law into local governments and courts, especially in Dearborn and Detroit, Michigan.  The Obama administration has also taken steps to make any anti-Muslim speech to be considered hate language, but no such measures have been taken when the speech is anti-Christian or anti-Jew, it’s just considered free speech.

When our Founding Fathers were forming the nation, they wrestled with what language should be the official language.  Some advocated French because of the ties we had with France in the Revolutionary War.  Benjamin Franklin pushed for German because it is one of the easiest languages to learn and he saw America to be the melting pot of the world.  However, the majority was English speaking and they settled on English as the official language of the United States of America.

For over two centuries, people who came to the US learned English so that they could be part of America and function in America.  Today, our local, state and federal governments spend millions of dollars printing everything in English and Spanish because so many Hispanics come here and refuse to learn the language.  Yet if we were to go to any of their counties, we would have to learn Spanish in order to cope and get by.

I firmly believe that everything official, including the Pledge of Allegiance and all government documents should be done in English only, the official language established by our Founding Fathers.  If people want to live here, then make them learn the language like we would have to do in their home countries.

And as far as reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, I would call for the termination of Principal Lopez for approving a blasphemous reading of our national pledge.  Sorry, folks, but I’m an American and proud of it and want to keep the country the way it was intended, not what foreigners want to convert it into!

Arizona High School Graduates to Swear Oath to Constitution?

Arizona High School Graduates to Swear Oath to Constitution?

loyalty oathScandal is once again rocking the streets and social media pages of Arizona where a group of Republican legislators are asking for the unthinkable.  They have proposed a bill that would require all graduating seniors to take a loyalty oath to the Constitution of the United States of America.  Worse yet, the end of the oath has them, oh this is almost too scandalous to say out loud, but it says, ‘So help me God.’

Bob Thorpe (R-District 6 in northern Arizona) along with 5 other Republican state representative and one state senator, have sponsored HB 2467.  This bill would require all high school graduates in the state of Arizona to take an oath of loyalty to support and defend the US Constitution, similar to the oath taken by public officials and law enforcement personnel.  Once each student has taken the oath, the school principal or head teacher would have to issue a signed certification that the student successfully fulfilled that task.

The oath states:

“I, _________, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge these duties; So help me God.”

To add to the horrificness of the matter, Steve Smith (R- District 23 – central Arizona) has introduced HB 2284 that would require all public school students, grades 1st through 12th, to recite the Pledge of Allegiance every day at school.

Immediately, the liberals went into an uproar claiming that Thorpe had gone too far and that his bill was unconstitutional and would not be held up by any court.  Anjali Abraham of the America Communist Lawyers Union, err, that’s the American Civil Liberties Union, told the local media:

“Both bills are clearly unconstitutional, ironically enough.  You can’t require students to attend school … and then require them to either pledge allegiance to the flag or swear this loyalty oath in order to graduate. It’s a violation of the First Amendment.”

How dare anyone ask US citizens to say the Pledge of Allegiance every day in school and then have to swear a loyalty oath to the US Constitution?

Before anyone can swear an oath to the Constitution, don’t they have to know what it says first?  So that means that every high school student should have to take a class on the US Constitution so they know what it says.  Sadly, many law schools today don’t even do that.  There are hundreds of people graduating from law schools that have never read the Constitution or have any idea what it actually says.  They only know what their liberal professors have told them.

Personally, I think it’s a great idea.  I know I had to stand and say the Pledge of Allegiance every day in school through the 8th grade.  I felt that doing that made me a part of this country and something to be proud of.  How can saying the Pledge of Allegiance or swearing an oath of loyalty to the governing document of your country be considered unconstitutional?  A violation of the First Amendment – bull pucky!

Is it unconstitutional to teach our children to be patriotic and loyal to our country?  What I don’t understand is why would any citizen object to saying the Pledge of Allegiance or swearing an oath to uphold and defend the US Constitution.  If they refuse to, then perhaps they should consider finding another county that would better suit their views.

I know some people say they won’t say the Pledge of Allegiance or swear a loyalty oath because of their religious beliefs about not being able to serve two masters, but they are taking that out of context in this case.  Saying the Pledge or taking the loyalty oath is not asking anyone to give up their loyalty and obedience to Christ, rather they are intended to support and uphold the freedoms and rights that God granted to this great nation over 230 years ago.  By saying the Pledge and taking such an oath should cause one to strive uphold our Christian values, morals, and biblical laws and to fight against those like Barack Obama who are actively trying to take them away from us.

I know it’s an old cliché, but I firmly believe it’s true and represents the efforts of Reps. Smith and Thorpe: ‘America – Love It or Leave It!’
