Hillary Clinton takes shot at Trump, GOP over Russia — and even invokes treason clause in Constitution

Reported by CHRIS ENLOE | February 25, 2022

Hillary Clinton just cannot resist.

The twice-failed presidential candidate made reference to the Constitution’s treason clause on Friday while implicitly condemning former President Donald Trump and parts of the Republican Party that she alleged have emboldened Russia’s aggression.

During a radio interview this week, Trump described Russian President Vladimir Putin as “very savvy.” He also described Putin’s decision to declare the independence of two Ukrainian regions as “genius.” And regarding the “peacekeepers” — which were Russian soldiers — that Putin sent into those eastern Ukrainian regions, Trump said, “we could use that on our southern border.” Meanwhile, Russian-state media have reportedly used comments from former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Fox News host Tucker Carlson for their propaganda purposes.

Speaking on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Clinton referred to Trump’s comments and said that any American who parrots talking points worthy of being broadcast by Russian propaganda outlets must be called out.

“We have to also make sure that within our own country we are calling out those people who are giving aid and comfort to Vladimir Putin, who are talking about what a genius he is, what a smart move it is, who are unfortunately being broadcast by Russian media, not only inside Russia, but in Europe to demonstrate the division within our own country,” Clinton said.

Clinton’s comments implicitly invoked the Constitution’s “treason clause,” which is found in Article III, Section 3:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

The Congress shall have power to declare the punishment of treason, but no attainder of treason shall work corruption of blood, or forfeiture except during the life of the person attainted.

Hillary Clinton: What’s Left Of The GOP Must Stand Against Those Giving ‘Aid’ To Putin

Later in the interview, Clinton described rhetoric from Trump and other Republican figureheads as “heartbreaking” and “dangerous,” and she repeated the accusation that they are giving “aid and comfort” to Putin.

“I think it’s time for what’s left of the Republican Party that has any common sense not just to say, ‘OK, go help defend Ukraine against Putin,’ but to stand against those people in politics and government, in the media and elsewhere in our own country who are literally giving aid and comfort to an enemy of freedom and democracy,” Clinton said.

Such rhetoric, Clinton claimed, emboldens not only Putin, but also Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“It can’t continue because it plays right into the ambitions of not just Putin, but also President Xi of China to undermine democracy, to literally divide and conquer the West without ever invading us, but by setting us against each other,” Clinton said.

Clinton attributed the development of the problem that she identified as happening because “starting with ascent of Trump, there has been, sadly, a total loss of spine and conscience of too many Republicans.”

“There is also another element. These people are naive in such a dangerous way,” Clinton continued. “I think the naiveté that we saw starting with Trump, but which has now been accelerated, is really hard to understand. But we have to deal with it, and we have to call it out.”

MSNBC Host Praises Socialism: ‘Here’s Some Good Socialism!’

October 3, 2014 By

While MSNBC’s ratings continue their freefall, the leftstream cable news network affiliated with NBC News, has not stopped their pro-communism and socialism leftist agenda.

A perfect example of this agenda was on display Thursday, when Ed Schultz, who’s literally on the payroll of big unions, directly glorified socialism.

“We need to take a page out of the country, Germany,” Schultz bloviated. “Here’s some good socialism for you!” he said enthusiastically.

Schultz was attempting to make a case on Thursday that U.S. taxpayers should bailout student loans, concluding that since taxpayers bailed out Wall Street, it only makes sense that taxpayers should bailout student loans. After all, two wrongs apparently do make a right, in the mind of one of the remaining MBNC apparatchiks hosts who hasn’t recently been fired.

Schultz was praising Germany, saying, “This week, Germany abolished all tuition fees, not some–All! A college education is now free in this country. Free!”

As Newsbusters  points out, giving specific examples, Schultz has a long history of praising socialism.

MSNBC: IRS Scandal – Wait For It – Bush’s Fault!

You knew it was just a matter of time, didn’t you? As the IRS scandal draws ever closer to Barack Obama, liberal media lapdogs are circling the wagons. In fact, they have just identified the “real” culprit: George Bush.

Who knew? From the “Let’s connect the dots that aren’t there” department, comes this ridiculous stretch, as reported by Mediaite:

Is it possible that the right-leaning Tea Party was being forced to reconcile onerous information requests from the Internal Revenue Service because former IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman, who was appointed by President George W. Bush, thought the nascent conservative movement reflected poorly on the Republican Party? This is the theory that was posited on MSNBC on Monday in an effort to explain the IRS’ admission that they had singled out conservative groups for undue scrutiny.

“Is it really the interesting part here that Shulman, who was a Bush appointee, might have been looking at Tea Party groups because of what it might have done to the Republican Party at the time – in the future of what we’re seeing now; basically, splintering the foundation of the Republican side?” MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts asked?

Mother Jones reporter Monika Bauerlein declined to respond to that speculation, but noted that when a group seeks tax-exempt status, they are asking for “a subsidy from the tax payers.”

“These Tea Party groups were looking for a subsidy from the tax payers, and there were a lot of these groups springing up at the time,” Bauerlein added. She contends that, in the wake of the Citizens United decision, there was a flood of applications to the IRS seeking tax-exempt status as a 501(c)3 – 6 organization. In fact, the number of applications for that status declined in 2010 in the wake the decision.”

Incredible. And? Not so much. Humorous, either way. Liberals’ “He hit me first!” or “Yeah, but what I did wasn’t as bad as what you did!” mentality is particularly entertaining when their crises erupt. (See: Hillary: “Vast right-wing conspiracy.”)

It’s only going to get “better.” Stay tuned.
