A Convention Of States Will Take Washington’s Power And Return It To the People

waving flagAuthored By Pamela Adams October 3, 2016

Since Democrat President Woodrow Wilson’s administration, America has been on Progressive Road heading towards Socialist Town. Our freedoms have eroded, our liberties have deteriorated, our independence has been eradicated and our voices have been silenced. We are grossly off track. So where do we go from here?

Progressives in both parties have betrayed the American people for too long. Democrat, Republican, Libertarian or Independent, Conservative, Liberal, or Constitutionalist, Christian or Atheist, the vast majority of this country knows we are going in the wrong direction.

We have allowed “progress” to take us down a road that has made America unrecognizable. Most millennials do not understand liberty, freedom, or personal responsibility because they have never been taught it. They have no idea what made America great. Even more so, government has indoctrinated them to believe it never was in the first place.

But don’t lose heart yet. There is hope. There is a solution.

Inigo Montoya declared in The Princess Bride, “You told me to go back to the beginning. So I have. This is where I am. This is where I will stay. I will not be moved.”

We need to go back to the beginning.

We need to go back to our foundation.

We need to go back to the Constitution.

The Founders wisely anticipated that the Federal Government could usurp its Constitutional authority. As a result, they gave the states and their citizens the ability to reclaim the country with Article V of the Constitution:

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no amendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.

All three branches of our Federal Government are out of control. They do not check and balance each other anymore. Instead, they work with, support and conspire with each other to push through their agendas, not our best interests. It is time to tell them enough. No one in Washington can do this for us. We have to do it ourselves.

ConventionOfStatesLogoA mock Convention of States was held last month in colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.  Issues such as term limits for congressman and justices, a virtual Congress (where congressmen remain in their home districts), a balanced budget, and single subject bills were discussed.

No more Congressmen spending 40+ years stealing and wasting our money. No more elbow rubbing, back room deals and lobbying of Congressmen. No more spending our grandchildren’s money to pad Congress’ pockets today. No more 2000 page bills that include 1000 lines of pork that must be voted on in a day.

The focus and goal is to return the power to the states and to the people. Washington is taken completely out of the process.

The mock Convention was conducted as if it was a real Convention. Eight proposals were presented, debated and voted on. Six passed, one was voted down, and one was tabled altogether.

The Abrogation Amendment was one of the popular proposals. This amendment would allow states to overrule any Supreme Court decision, Congressional legislation or Executive Order they do not like with a 3/5ths passing vote. It gives the control back to the people, removing government’s ability to shove their agenda down our throats. Common Core, Obamacare and same-sex marriage could be revoked by the people with this Amendment.SCOTUS GIANT

Delegates also repealed the 16th Amendment, which formed the Federal Income Tax. Many favored replacing it with a Flat Tax, but that can be determined later.

The Commerce Clause was reworked, returning it to its original intent. The Federal Government has completely overstepped their authority with the Commerce Clause. They used it to chock businesses’ abilities to trade and deal across state lines, usually for political reasons.

The Commerce Clause restricted health insurance agencies from being able to provide insurance to those out of state. Restoration of this clause would eliminate the need for Obamacare. It would radically change departments such as the Department of Education, the Department of Energy, Department of Commerce, and the EPA. That is actually a change and progress America can get on board with.AMEN

The Article V was specifically designed by the Founders to allow citizens to reset. Likewise, to go back to the beginning.

Only a few more states are needed before an actual convention can be called. You can help by going to and signing the petition. You can stop there or be connected to your local chapter and state representatives. There is information on volunteering, organizing your neighbors and getting involved. Training tools are also available.

A large grassroots campaign is already underway with millions of citizens working on the ground. This is in our reach and can be done.

Washington, regardless of who becomes president, will not relinquish the power they have grabbed. Fortunately, it’s not up to them. We have a Constitutional trigger we can pull to put things right.

We still have a chance to save America. It is all up to us though.fight

The Founders told us to go back to the beginning. So I have. This is where I am. This is where I will stay. I will not be moved.

Will you join me? Visit for more information.

God Bless America.

But that’s just my 2 cents.

Federal bureaucrats find ‘superhighway’ around Fourth, Fifth Amendments

waving flagPosted by on November 11, 2015

Tyranney AlertSocialism alertLeave it to federal bureaucrats to find a way around pesky constitutional requirements. The Daily Caller reported last week that federal officials are using “administrative subpoenas” to circumvent the Fourth Amendment’s prohibition against warrantless searches and seizures. These subpoenas aren’t issued by a judge — federal agencies simply cook them up whenever they need information for an investigation.

Equal Employment Opportunity Commission officials used a warrantless subpoena on a Texas-based grocery chain that fired an employee who failed a post-maternity leave physical fitness test, demanding the home addresses and Social Security numbers of every company employee.

The EEOC’s action was made possible because officials there used warrantless demands — formally known as “administrative subpoenas” or “civil enforcement demands” — that are rapidly replacing judge-issued warrants as standard procedure for federal  bureaucrats on the prowl for information about individuals and every aspect of their lives. Such subpoenas threaten personal privacy and individual liberty at the very least and are almost certainly unconstitutional, legal scholars say.

“The government now has a superhighway to go around the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution,” Tim Lynch, director of the Cato Institute’s project on criminal justice, told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

“The reason why these things have cropped up in the first place is government agencies will argue that they need information, they need it quickly, and that has been the driver behind, kind of bypassing the checks and balances that apply in the Fourth Amendment context,” Lynch told TheDCNF.Picture2

This sounds more like Soviet Russia than the Land of the Free, and is yet another example of how the federal government gets around the original intent of the Constitution by taking advantage of just-vague-enough phraseology.

The American people can change this. By encouraging their state legislators to call an Article V Convention of States, the people — acting through the states — can propose constitutional amendments that clarify the Founders’ original intent. Federal bureaucrats, the President, and the Supreme Court have trampled the Constitution long enough — it’s time to stand up and fight for the greatest governing document the world has ever seen.

In the News: Ron Paul says secession is ‘good news’

Posted by on February 20, 2015

At a Mises Institute meeting in late January, former Republican presidential candidate and congressman Ron Paul said secession is happening and it’s “good news.”

He also referenced the nullification movement in which state governments do not to adhere to federal laws they deem unconstitutional.

“I would like to start off by talking about the subject and the subject is secession and, uh, nullification, the breaking up of government, and the good news is it’s gonna happen. It’s happening,” Paul said.

Ron Paul is a true patriot and has done much to advance the cause of freedom in this country. On this point, however, we’d like to point him to Article V of the Constitution, which describes a peaceful, constitutionally-sanction means to limit federal power.

Secession, of course, is not lawful. And if we’ve learned anything from history, we know it can have disastrous results. The federal government abuses its power, true, but if we have any alternatives to civil war, we should take them.

Nullification, while somewhat less extreme than secession, is the first step down that road. And the legality of nullification is equally dubious, as we explain in this document.

Article V, on the other hand, is perfectly legal (it’s in the Constitution), and it doesn’t carry with it the potential for violent results.

An Article V Convention of States can limit the federal government’s power and jurisdiction and stop the abuses of Washington, D.C. It can restore rightful power to the states, and return this country to its federalist roots.

Governor Bobby Jindal endorses The Convention of States Project

Posted by on November 11, 2014

PURCELLVILLE, Va., and AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 10, 2014 — Today the Convention of States Project announces the endorsement of Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal.

“Gov. Jindal knows first-hand about how Washington, D.C. strips away state’s rights in its insatiable thirst to control everything from education to healthcare to the environment,” said Mark Meckler, president of Citizens for Self-Governance and co-founder of the COS Project, which is dedicated to reducing the power of the federal government through the use of Article V of the Constitution. “Gov. Jindal has been a tireless champion of Tenth Amendment rights, which resonates with the Convention of States volunteers and supporters.  In fact, it resonates with all Americans looking for common sense from its leaders and real solutions that get government out of our daily lives.”

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal says, “The federal government has clearly grown far beyond the size and scope that the Founders ever envisioned.  Over-spending, excessive regulatory overreach, and disdain for individual liberty all run rampant in Washington D.C.  Luckily, the Founders gave us a mechanism to reform a runaway federal government in Article V of the Constitution.  We can — and we must — scale back the monstrosity that our federal government has become.  For this reason, I support the Convention of States project efforts to call an Article V convention to propose amendments to restrain the size of the federal government.”

The Convention of States Project currently has organized leadership in 43 states around the country, including thousands of volunteers committed to stopping the federal government’s abuse of power. Three Article V applications have already been passed in Alaska, Florida and Georgia.

Tuesday night’s election results and what they mean for the Convention of States Project

I have no doubt you are already aware the Republicans gained control of the U.S. Senate last night, securing at least 52 of 100 Senate seats. I wanted to give you a full rundown of the election results and their impact on us.

  • Senate Republicans picked up seats in Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Montana, North Carolina, South Dakota, and West Virginia, giving them at least a 52 seat majority. Three races (Alaska, Louisiana, and Virginia) have yet to be decided, with Louisiana going to a runoff on December 6th and pundits already saying that incumbent Democrat Landreiu will likely lose.
  • Republican Dan Sullivan is currently leading in Alaska, with 60% of the vote counted and Democrat Mark Warner is leading in Virginia in a surprisingly tight race against Ed Gillespie. Republicans in tight races were able to stave off significant challenges in Georgia, Kansas, and Kentucky. Barring any unforeseen circumstance, Senator Mitch McConnell will become the new Senate Majority Leader in 2015.
  • Republicans in the House have picked up at least 12 seats, with the GOP currently holding 243 seats to the Democrats’ 174. Fourteen races have yet to be determined, and Republicans are leading in six of them. This will likely cement John Boehner’s power for the foreseeable future. Just in case you were wondering, the largest margin the Republicans have held in the House was 270 seats during the 1928 session.
  • Republicans did well on the state level as well, netting at least three governor’s races with victories in Illinois and Arkansas, and surprising upsets in Maryland and Massachusetts, giving Republicans at least 31 seats. The Democrats picked up the governor’s mansion in Pennsylvania. Republicans held off challengers in key races including Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Michigan, and Texas. Three races are still too close to call with Democrats leading in Colorado and Connecticut and an independent leading in Alaska. Vermont’s legislature will determine the winner of the governor’s race, as neither candidate was able to get to 50% needed for victory, with incumbent Democrat Peter Shumlin likely to win the seat.
  • At the state legislature level it will take some time to get a clear picture of which party will control each chamber. Of the 99 legislative chambers nationally, 87 held elections yesterday, with Republicans controlling 57 and Democrats controlling 41. As of this morning Republicans were able to flip control of 7 chambers to their control, including the Minnesota House, Nevada House, New Hampshire House, West Virginia House, New Mexico House, New York Senate, and Nevada Senate. The West Virginia Senate went from Democrat control to an even split. Five chambers are still too close to call, with Democrats controlling four and Republicans controlling one before the election.
  • At this point Republicans have trifectas (controlling the Governor’s office and both legislative chambers) in 23 states, losing the trifecta in Pennsylvania, with three still to be decided. Democrats lost trifectas in Colorado, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, and West Virginia.

What does this all mean for Convention of States? It means we need to strike while the iron is hot and redouble our efforts to secure Article V applications in 34 states in 2015. While the elections put new people into office, the results tell us the American people are dissatisfied with their government, and they want meaningful change. Fox News exit polling shows that:

1. Congressional still hovers around 13%, with Obama at 41%.
2. 49% of respondents feel their children’s generation will be worse off than their generation.
3. 78% of voters are concerned about the direction of the economy, with 70% saying the state of the current economy is not good.
4. 78% said they do not trust the government, with 79% saying that they cannot trust Washington to do what is right.
5. Realizing they handed Republicans power in Congress, 60% still said they are dissatisfied with Republican leadership.

So, while there is a shift in Washington, people are still not happy with the federal government. Only a Convention of States will allow the people to take back the power the Founders intended them to have all along.

Disarming the PC Police by Refusing to Conform

When is a beheading not a beheading but instead, workplace violence? When is a mass shooting on a military base by someone yelling “Allahu Akbar” not a terrorist attack? Never?

When are we going to say, “Enough is enough” to the politically correct world that we have unfortunately grown accustomed to or at least have come to tolerate?

As a psychotherapist, the one thing I know for sure is that you cannot change a behavior unless you acknowledge it.

States Formal Sacred Cow of Policital CorrectnessWe have become too complacent for far too long and have become comfortable with allowing the progressive left to make us believe that we are no longer the intelligent and God-fearing people that America has always been.

It’s time to disarm the PC police and take back our country. Common sense must make a comeback and we must quit allowing progressives to use their handbook against us to silence and change the very culture of the United States.

Political correctness began in the 1970s as a means to bring about “inclusion.” It referenced “language” that could be tempered so that an individual or group wouldn’t feel excluded or offended. It has grown into something far beyond the use of language.

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, being politically correct is defined as “conforming to a belief that language and practices which could offend political sensibilities (as in matters of sex or race) should be eliminated.” It also means, “Agreeing with the idea that people should be careful to not use language or behave in a way that could offend a particular group of people.”

Being PC has grown into a monster and has become something it was never intended to be. It now includes, not only the use of language, but practices and behavior. We have allowed the expansion and have made it a weapon that can be used against us.

It’s high time that we began to disarm the PC police and defeat the monster.

The average American has been taught from childhood to treat people with respect. We have safeguards in place that punish those who show disrespect to others.

We don’t need a specific rule that controls our behavior and forces us to conform, typically, to the dictates of a group desiring to bring about change for their own benefit. This change is achieved by making us believe that if we are not in favor of the plan, then we are somehow part of the problem.

Being PC today means that an individual, group, or industry is being silenced by propaganda used in an effort to further an agenda. We have seen this tactic used over and over again by people like Al Sharpton who profits from using race-baiting tactics to cause division between races.

We have allowed being PC to change our behavior in such a way that it works to our detriment and removes common sense from our rational thinking.

Relying on truthful information, even if offensive to another individual or group, is still the truth and must not be ignored. To ignore the facts in order to get along in a PC world not only does a disservice to the individual but to the nation as a whole.

Fifty-four-year-old Colleen Hufford, was beheaded at her place of employment in Oklahoma, allegedly by someone who had recently converted to Islam and who had reportedly been trying to convert his co-workers.

cause of deathThe Obama administration is labeling the incident as workplace violence. Is that accurate or is there some other reason for this description?

Should we accept the government’s definition of a beheading as workplace violence because they want us to believe that? Common sense would tell you that you are not being told the truth.

We begin to lose our grip on reality when we don’t accept the facts, choose not to apply common sense, or live in fear of what others will think.

Eventually, it may even cause someone to lose hope and give up entirely because it is easier than arguing against the progressive left’s point of view.

Also, we often fear what others will say because we worry about not being accepted.  Human beings long for acceptance and distain rejection. Swimming upstream against the tide is difficult and brings with it dread that we will be polarized from the group.

Those on the extreme left know that fear and rejection are natural human feelings. That is why they act quickly to reinforce those feelings when a person or group steps out of line with their philosophy.

It’s time to stop buying into the lie. You are not alone in your beliefs. There are plenty of people out there, just like you, who are afraid to say something because they have bought into the falsehoods and are terrified of traveling the road alone.

Many people, who are stuck in their place of fear, are waiting in silence for a leader to step up and declare that the restraints brought about by being PC must be broken.

Become that leader who steps up and points our country back toward the right direction by informing others about an agenda that could harm them.

We must also remind others that they are equipped with common sense and have the ability to spot the truth.

Dismantling the PC lie will require all of us to seek out like-minded people and support from each other, if needed.

Discerning the truth, always treating people with respect, and then moving forward even if it means acting alone to defeat the PC police should become our battle cry.

Start taking the lead by voting in upcoming elections for the best candidate, not the candidate that everyone else convinced you that you should vote for because it was the PC thing to do.

Attend meetings at your child’s school and speak out against what you know doesn’t benefit your child. This may mean that you speak out alone. However, you can also look for other parents willing to support your decision to stand up. Your child needs a leader and you can be that leader.

Consider whether the Convention of States movement would help this country return to a nation in which the People govern and not one in which a runaway government rules over its People. Then spread the word and prepare to vote for it when it is time.

If we don’t start returning to common sense and grasping the truth then we will be convinced that losing everything, including our freedom, is something we’ll just have to get used to.

I’m willing to stand for truth alone or with my country. Will you stand with me?

Article V convention moves a step closer

By Thomas Lifson / October 1, 2014

Read more:

Long dismissed as a crackpot idea, a convention of states to propose amendments to the Constitution to restore the limited government vision of the Founders is moving toward realization. It will not be an easy or quick process, but some great minds are working together to make it happen.Via the PR Newswire and CNBC, we learn of the new Jefferson Statement in support of an Article V Convention and the formation of a stellar “Legal Board of Reference”:

The Convention of States project (a project of Citizens for Self-Governance) announcesthe creation of a Legal Board of Reference, made up of well-known lawyers, law professors, and constitutional scholars who have signed the Jefferson statement (see below) endorsing the Convention of States initiative to call an Article V Convention to propose amendments to the Constitution to restrain the federal government.

“The federal government has exceeded the bounds placed by the Framers of the Constitution, and it’s time for the States to exert their authority by calling a Convention to propose Amendments pursuant to the authority granted to them in Article V,” said Mark Meckler, President of Citizens for Self-Governance and the Co-Founder of the Convention of States project. “An Article V Convention to propose restraints on an ever-expanding federal behemoth which refuses to restrain itself is exactly what the nation needs right now.”

Michael Farris, Senior Fellow for Constitutional Studies at Citizens for Self-Governance, and the Co-Founder of the Convention of States Project said, “We are extremely gratified that such an impressive group of nationally known, experienced lawyers, law professors, scholars and conservative public opinion leaders have agreed to support the Convention of States project by endorsing the effort, signing the Jefferson Statement (see below) and serving on our Legal Board of Reference. This is a historic moment for the country. “

The Convention of States Project currently has organized leadership in 43 states around the country, including thousands of volunteers committed to stopping the federal government’s abuse of power. Three Article V applications have already been passed in Alaska, Florida and Georgia. For more information visit

The Jefferson Statement

The Constitution’s Framers foresaw a day when the federal government would exceed and abuse its enumerated powers, thus placing our liberty atFreedom's Battle with Heading risk. George Mason was instrumental in fashioning a mechanism by which “we the people” could defend our freedom — the ultimate check on federal power contained in Article V of the Constitution.

Article V provides the states with the opportunity to propose constitutional amendments through a process called a Convention of States. This process is controlled by the states from beginning to end on all substantive matters.

A Convention of States is convened when 34 state legislatures pass resolutions (applications) on an agreed topic or set of topics. The Convention is limited to considering amendments on these specified topics.

While some have expressed fears that a Convention of States might be misused or improperly controlled by Congress, it is our considered judgment that the checks and balances in the Constitution are more than sufficient to ensure the integrity of the process.

The Convention of States mechanism is safe, and it is the only constitutionally effective means available to do what is so essential for our nation — restoring robust federalism with genuine checks on the power of the federal government.

We share the Founders’ conviction that proper decision-making structures are essential to preserve liberty. We believe that the problems facing our nation require several structural limitations on the exercise of federal power. While fiscal restraints are essential, we believe the most effective course is to pursue reasonable limitations, fully in line with the vision of our Founders, on the federal government.

Accordingly, I endorse the Convention of States Project, which calls for an Article V Convention for “the sole purpose of proposing amendments that impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and limit the terms of office for its officials and for members of Congress.”
