On Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida a man identified by police as Gregory Timm drove his van through a tent where Trump supporters were working to register voters.
Timm drove his van through a tent where members of the Duval County GOP were registering people to vote. The driver barely missed several people and fled the scene. A few hours later he was caught by police. Images posted by the Duval county GOP posted images of the vehicle fleeing and the aftermath.
“We are outraged by this senseless act of violence toward our great volunteers,” said Duval GOP Chairman Dean Black in a statement on Facebook. “The Republican Party of Duval County will not be intimidated by these cowards and we will not be silenced. I call on every Republican in our great city to stand up, get involved, and show these radicals that we will not be intimidated from exercising our Constitutional rights.”
The Mayor of Jackson Ville Lenny Curry also responded to the attack.
“I just spoke to the local GOP chair. This is outrageous. The hate is toxic and dangerous. Thankfully no one was injured but certainly, they are shaken after being targeted because they were registering voters. I’ve spoken to the Sheriff and of course, his team is on top of this,” said Curry in a statement.
President Trump also responded to this senseless act of violence.
Both of Florida’s Senators also responded.
Timm was arrested and has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault on a person 65 years of age or older, one count of Criminal Mischief, and Driving while Driver’s License Suspended.
