MSNBC hostess Joy Reid is as liberal as you can get. She’s said a lot of strange things in her day, but this one might just take the cake. Reed tweeted something that all but said the words: Rep. Steve Scalise deserved to be shot.

With a picture showing Scalise’s record, she tweeted:

“Rep. #Scalise was shot by a white man with a violent background, and saved by a black lesbian police officer, and yet…”

She might not have literally said the words, but don’t worry, people on Twitter clarified what she meant.

One user called her out on her incisive comment.

But she wasn’t done yet. On her show, Reid said this was a “delicate” situation. She hopes Scalise recovers (how sweet of her…) but she stated she cannot ignore his history in regards to race, same-sex marriage, and gun control.

“It’s a delicate thing because everybody is wishing the congressman well and hoping that he recovers, but Steve Scalise has a history that we’ve all been forced to sort of ignore on race. He did come to leadership after some controversy over attending a white nationalist event, which he says he didn’t know what it was. He also co-sponsored a bill to amend the Constitution to define marriage as between a man and a woman. He voted for the House healthcare bill, which as you said would gut health care for millions of people, including three million children, and he co-sponsored a bill to repeal the ban on semi-automatic weapons. Because he is in jeopardy and everybody is pulling for him, are we required in a moral sense to put that aside at the moment?”

Aren’t you “required in a moral sense” to just hope that a man with a wife and children can make a full recovery? That’s what we think is the moral thing to do at this point…
