Hillary Clinton and the Obama White House have spent more than three years telling the American public that there was no chance to respond militarily to the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack on American diplomatic outposts in Benghazi, Libya. But a newly-released email tells a different story.
The email, obtained by Judicial Watch via Freedom of Information, is from Jeremy Bash, then the Chief of Staff at the Department of Defense to Jacob Sullivan, the Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary Clinton.
“I just tried you an the phone but you were all in with S,” Bash wrote, S representing Clinton, the Secretary. “After consulting with General Dempsey, General Ham and the Joint Staff, we have identified the forces that could move to Benghazi. They are spinning up as we speak.”
The portion of the email detailing which forces could be deployed is redacted.
“Assuming principals agree to deploy these elements, we will ask State to secure the approval from host nation. Please advise i-you wish to convey that approval to us,” Bash wrote.

In the end no troops, no planes or other weaponry were deployed, raising plenty of questions in Congress and from commentators. The Obama administration has always insisted that there was not enough time to deploy forces to the region, something this email appears to refute.
The email did not come from the ongoing release of emails to and from Hillary Clinton over her personal, private and until recently, secret email server but rather through FOIA via the Defense Department. Judicial Watch has been relentless in pursuing this file including filing lawsuits to try and force the release of information.
