DEAR NEVER TRUMP PEEPS: Can This FACT About Dems Change Your Vote?

After the RNC Convention, talking heads are buzzing about so much nonsense. Picking apart little divisions within the party. Fly poop out of pepper stuff. Eating our own.

Let’s take a step back. While we’re busy being worried about the pomp and circumstance of the formal process, what is the other side is up to? It can help us see the “Big Picture”.

A Tale of Two Parties. Where better to see their stark difference than their leadership conventions?

Forget speeches and policies. Just look at the guest lists. That one difference tells you everything to you really need to know about each party. There is going to be hype and hyperbole in the speeches. But the one place their true colors come through that guest list. Intentional or not, values drive those choices.

Who are the people on the guest lists? Besides the predictable political insiders?

For the Republicans, Marcus Luttrell spoke. So did Pat Smith. We heard from Mary Ann Mendoza, Sabine Durden, & Jamiel Shaw. We heard from David A Clarke Jr.

Their stories highlight what Republicans call important. Marcus Luttrell — Navy Seal. Pat Smith — Gold Star mother of murdered Benghazi ambassador Sean Smith. Mary Ann Mendoza, Sabine Durden and Jamiel Shaw — each a grieving mother of children killed by illegal immigrants. David A Clarke Jr. is Milwaukee County Sheriff who doesn’t think the “Thin Blue Line” should describe a Funeral Procession.

In their usual “unbiased reporting”, CNN chose those grieving mothers’ speeches as the best time to take a station break.

(In a graphic, CNN described the mothers whose speeches they had omitted as having been “affected by undocumented immigrants”. That’s a little like saying the Twin Towers and Pentagon were “affected by mass transit”.)

A quick glance over that list reminds the voters about the courage of those who defend the national interests abroad and at home, as well as examples of obvious failures of the current administration to safeguard citizens abroad or at home. These were not mere failures, but refusal either to do the right thing, or to admit and learn from error.

Contrast that to the Democrats guest list.

  • One is the mother of that guy who was shot dead while slamming someone’s head into a curb. Trayvon something. I hear he looks like a President’s son.
  • Another is the mother of the famous “gentle giant” (also dead) famous for stealing from a convenience store and giving us the forensically disproven “hands up don’t shoot” BS.
  • Will any of Chicago’s 300(+) 2016 fatalities be remembered in these speeches? Nope. Progs like petty thugs for their political martyrs. They threw in a few others besides these to round out the list.More Evidence

These are the names energizing a movement — a movement demonstrating its deep love for the democratic process by blocking highways, chucking rocks, and lobbing piss-bombs at police officers.

One party celebrates proud traditions: Duty. Honor. Courage. And when it is angry, that anger is against injustices. Injustices involving politicians who put private political agendas above the safety of citizens and diplomats.

Their Side? They specialize in race-baiting. Division. Blame-shifting. They are known for recycling disproven propaganda and lies.

One party honored mothers mourning children killed by people who should never have been in America in the first place.

The other leveraged “children” with rap sheets to galvanize a grievance group.Partyof Deceit Spin and Lies

Do you even need the Debates to know who is who?

Rand Paul wants values ‘revival’

Obamacare

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) sought to merge his libertarian-leaning philosophy with social conservative beliefs on Friday, telling the religious crowd at If my peoplethe Values Voters summit that the two go hand-in-hand.

“Where there is liberty there is always plenty of space for God,” Paul concluded at the end of a speech at times punchy and professorial that touched on abortion, foreign policy and religious liberty.

The likely 2016 presidential candidate sought to convince a socially conservative crowd wary of libertarians that he’s one of them, calling for a “revival” of cultural values.

What we need is something more than laws. We need something that civilizes a nation, and that is virtue,” he said. “What America really needs is a revival.”

The senator used that philosophy to defend his opposition to an intervention-first foreign policy mentality.

“Our foreign policy has too often accepted war instead of peace and intervention instead of strength, leading to unintended consequences,” he said before arguing against arming Syrian rebels, a decision backed by more interventionist lawmakers in both parties.

“One group of these so-called moderate rebels has stated publicly that when they’re done with [President Bashar] Assad, next they’re coming for Israel,” he said.

“You and I must stand with Christians in the Middle East … but that does not necessarily mean war and that certainly doesn’t mean arming both sides in every conflict,” he said to laughs from the crowd.

He also used the crowd’s fury at oppression of Christians abroad, saying that until Asia Bibi, a Christian sitting in prison in Pakistan, “is freed, Christian PersecutionPakistan should not receive a penny of U.S. aid.”

Paul also tackled abortion, a tricky issue for the senator following seemingly ambivalent comments earlier this year about Roe v. Wade.

“The debate isn’t really about whether government has a role in protecting life. The debate really hinges on when life begins,” the ophthalmologist told the crowd. “Don’t tell me that 5- and 6-pound babies have no rights simply because they’re not yet born.”

Speaking shortly after fellow Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who stalked the stage like a televangelist to huge cheers from the crowd, Paul stayed steady at the podium, approaching the speech more like a professor.

Imperial President ObamaBut he did take some opportunities to throw red meat to the crowd, saying President Obama “acts like he’s a king” and calling his announcements of executive orders “the exclamations of an autocrat.”

Needed: Principled Conservatives; It’ll Take a Miracle, But …

miracle

The sad truth is most Americans are ignorant, and apathetic.    They’ve only recently awakened, partially, to the activities of the criminal in the White House, and only then when their health insurance was canceled and costs skyrocketed.   Perhaps they will fully awaken when electric bills triple, when the cost of food and gasoline doubles, or when DHS kicks in the door to confiscate firearms.    At this point the American people are only reacting to pin pricks to their comfort zone, a selfish orientation.   To save this republic people must react on principle.  They must develop a fierce devotion to proven, traditional principles, to liberty and the general welfare.  That kind of devotion requires a selfless, inspired posture.  It will take a miracle for this to happen in the time we have left.   Thankfully, the God of love specializes in miracles.    No doubt part of that miraculous movement will involve inspired leadership capable of dealing with ignorance and apathy.

Freedom vs. Collectivism

http://eaglerising.com/3782/freedom-vs-collectivism/#MqTe5cuoWq1IKt6E.99

In his book The Road to Serfdom, F. A. Hayek lists the characteristics that make America an exceptional country. (1) independence and self-reliance, (2) individual initiative and local responsibility, (3) successful self reliance on voluntary activity, (4) noninterference with one’s neighbor and tolerance of the different and queer, (5) respect for custom and tradition, and (6) a healthy suspicion of power and authority. He attributes these as deriving from our Anglo-Saxon heritage. These characteristics, Hayek said, “…have molded the national character and the whole moral climate of England and America,…”

Even while listing those attributes, he warns that “…the progress of collectivism and its inherently centralistic tendencies are progressively destroying” this exceptional heritage. He cautions against centralized planning of business, industry, education, health care, and other systems that are necessary for our way of life. He readily admits that a system such as we have we had for the first 125 years of our union’s life is sometimes slow and awkward. But the trade off is that we have freedom to “pursue happiness.”

Obamacare_Road_to_Serfdom_Obama didn’t start all of this. This began with Woodrow Wilson, and Wilson’s inspiration, we are told, was a little book named Philip Dru Administrator: A Story of Tomorrow 1920-1935 by Edward Mandell House. (I’ll be writing more about this book and the author’s relationship with President Wilson later.) If you have never read this book, do so. It is available from Amazon.com in the Kindle edition for a pittance. It will send cold chills up your back. If you have read Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, you will perhaps see some of the genesis of that huge novel. I don’t know whether Ms Rand knew about Philip Dru Administrator, but she was a well read person. I would guess that she knew about it.

We are witnessing today the streamlining of our country’s processes for achievement. Congress takes too long to pass laws. So we get a Presidential Executive Directives and Orders to get things done. Some of our laws, indeed many of our laws, date back to the twentieth century and even further back and sections of them have become antiquated. So we have a Department of Justice that advises the administration that it can ignore certain laws or certain sections of laws. Sometimes my wife accuses me of selective hearing. Well, I accuse the DOD of selectively cherry picking our laws, and that includes the Constitution.

At one time we proudly would say that we are a nation of laws and not of men. We can now say that we are a nation of decrees and regulations and not of laws. The citizens of the United States have been shuffled down and over to one side and ignored. Our congressmen, with a few exceptions, are like sheep being led to the slaughter. They talk a good talk, but they do not walk a good walk. When it comes right down to it, they are more afraid of the colleagues in leadership positions in the House and Senate and of the president himself than they are of the people who bestowed upon them the honor of representing them. Even the nine grave men and women who wear the black robes and sit in supreme judgment of lesser courts–with a couple of notable exceptions–have kowtowed to the president and his lackeys.

We have the ballot box. We have primary elections. We have the power of recall. We have term limits. Let’s do what we need to do to rid ourselves of this mill stone that the Democrat party has hung around our necks. And, for goodness sake, let’s keep Hillary away from the White House. I know it’s a long time until the election of 2014 and even longer than the election of 2016, but we need to keep the fires burning in the furnace of our opposition to avoid being dragged any deeper into the quagmire of collectivism.

Oh, and by the way, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to y’all from deep in the heart of South Georgia. Drop in and see us sometime, ya hear?

Why Republicans Must Go

The above quote perfectly encapsulates the divide within the Republican Party. The rift within the Party is based on many things, but when boiled down, it is all about philosophy. For the longest time, the philosophy of the Republican Party has been about winning at all costs. This has caused permanent blindness which has led to endless mediocre candidates. In the Party’s pursuit of the “perfect” candidate, they have eschewed their own values in favor of someone they hope will be “electable,” and adored by moderates.

The problem with the desire to be liked is that it clouds one’s judgment. Trying to cover every base is impossible, and in their extraordinary need to be liked by all, Republicans have become hated by all. The tides have changed a bit with the appearance of Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and the rest of the cast of Real Conservatives of Washington DC. Their rise has dramatically shifted the demographics of the Republican Party, increasing the rift between the establishment and the true Conservatives.

According to Breitbart:

Appearing on NBC’s Meet the Press, former Pennsylvania Senator and 2012 presidential candidate Rick Santorum bashed Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), saying that Cruz’s crusade against Obamacare had been counterproductive. ‘I would say in the end, he did more harm. I think it was not his objective.’”

This column is not designed to bash Santorum, but to highlight the philosophical difference between establishment and Conservative. Santorum went on to say that Ted Cruz is a good guy, but that his strategy was misguided. In those words lies a massive philosophical statement. Santorum belongs to the establishment, a group of politicians who are unwilling to make waves in order to incite change. He will gladly make a statement about abortion, making waves around himself, but he is not out to change Washington in any real sense.

This is why we need to oust establishment Republicans. It’s not necessarily because they are malevolent—though some are (McCain)—but because they simply don’t understand what’s going on. No matter the situation, establishment Republicans just aren’t useful anymore.
