Surprise: At least one of the students backing the banning of the American flag at UC Irvine wants all whitey’s out of California – and the rest of the South West. If this is true – they’re not getting much of an education. Gotnews.com reports that one of the college kids who supported the UC Irvine anti-American flag resolution is an activist for the anti-white group, The Movimiento Estudiantil Chican@ de Aztlan (MEChA) de UCI.

Natividad “Naty” Rico backed the anti-American flag resolution as a member of the student government. She was recently elected to be an At Large Representative for ASUCI’s Legislative Council, according to a Tumblr post she wrote. MEChaA is an Aztlan, anti-Semite movement which advocates the secession of all of the Southwest.

From the M.E.Ch.A. website:

Adamant rejection of the label “Mexican-American” meant rejection of the assimilation and accommodationist melting pot ideology that had guided earlier generations of activists. Chicanismo involves a crucial distinction in a political consciousness between a Mexican-American (Hispanic) and a Chicana/o mentality. El Plan de Santa Barbara speaks to such issues of identity politics by asserting:

“The Mexican-American (Hispanic) is a person who lacks respect for his/her cultural and ethnic heritage. Unsure of her/himself, she/he seeks assimilation as a way out of her/his “degraded” social status.

M.E.Ch.A. also endorses boycott, divestment and sanctions on Israel.

Garbage in / garbage out–

Many supporters of the anti-American flag resolution at the University of California-Irvine said their illegal immigrant constituents demanded Old Glory be removed from the common area.

Khaalidah Sidney, humanities representative and co-author of the legislation, said that the flag served as a reminder for her DREAMer friends of their constant battle of obtaining citizenship.

A “viable threat of violence” related to a plan to ban flags including the U.S. one in a student government building on the UC Irvine campus prompted the university to cancel a meeting Tuesday. Chip Yost reports for the KTLA 5 News at 6 on Tuesday, March 10, 2015.

  • The Associated Students of University of California, Irvine voted to ban hanging flags in its main lobby.
  • The flag banning legislation passed with six yea votes, four nay, and two abstentions.

The Associated Students of University of California, Irvine (ASUCI) voted Tuesday to remove all flags, including American flags, from an inclusive space on campus because of their offensive nature. The bill, R50-70, was authored by Social Ecology Representative Matthew Guevara, and accuses all flags, especially, the American flag, of being “symbols of patriotism or weapons for nationalism.”

“[F]lags construct paradigms of conformity and sets [sic] homogenized standards for others to obtain which in this country typically are idolized as freedom, equality, and democracy.”

“[F]lags construct paradigms of conformity and sets [sic] homogenized standards for others to obtain which in this country typically are idolized as freedom, equality, and democracy,” the bill reads.

The legislation argues that flags may be interpreted differently; the American flag, for example, can represent “American exceptionalism and superiority,” as well as oppression.

“[T]he American flag has been flown in instances of colonialism and imperialism,” the bill continues, arguing that “symbolism has negative and positive aspects that are interpreted differently by individuals.”

The anti-flag hanging bill adds that free speech, such as flags in inclusive spaces, can be interpreted as hate cause of deathspeech.

“[F]reedom of speech, in a space that aims to be as inclusive as possible[,] can be interpreted as hate speech,” the bill reads.

“Let it be resolved that ASUCI make every effort to make the Associated Students main lobby space as inclusive as possible.”

“Let it further be resolved that no flag, of any nation, may be hanged on the walls of the Associate Student main lobby space.”

“Let it be further be resolved that if a decorative item is in the Associate student lobby space and issues arise, the solution will be to remove the item if there is considerable request to do so.”more evidence
