Obama’s Sick Bias Against Christian Refugees

Thanks to a new report from the Center for Security Policy, President Obama’s disgusting bias against Christian refugees has been laid bare. The president who constantly slams Republicans for their religious bigotry has consistently refused to accept Christians from Syria who are suffering just as much as the Muslim population.
According to State Department numbers, 2,184 Syrian refugees have been allowed into the United States since 2011. Of that number, only 53 were Christians. Not 53 percent, mind you. 53 individuals total. Compare that to 2098 Muslims. Granted, the country is majority Muslim, but the difference in demographics is not nearly that stark. Christians make up about 10% of the Syrian population and they make up only 2% of the refugees permitted into the U.S.
But even those demographics don’t tell the whole story because Christians make up a disproportionate share of people fleeing the war-torn country. According to several charity groups, Christians may make up as much as 23% of Syrian refugees.
How can Obama preach religious inclusiveness when presiding over such a biased refugee program? Well, he gets away with it because the State Department is sticking closely to the legal definition of a refugee, limiting it to individuals in danger of being massacred by the Assad regime. Since Christians are more likely to be butchered by Assad’s enemies, including ISIS, the Obama administration feels no compulsion to protect them.
Contrast this with the refugees coming in from South America, where the administration feels perfectly fine in disregarding federal law governing asylum. In this instance, Obama is more than willing to overlook specific requirements while allowing in thousands of people who are fleeing nothing more than economic uncertainty.
Besides the obvious moral questions, President Obama’s refusal to help Christians and his zeal in helping Muslims poses a national security risk. With no certain methods of vetting these refugees, the State Department will almost certainly bring terrorists into the U.S. along with innocent Muslims. Even if that were not a risk, though, dropping refugees with a completely different cultural and religious background into this country is a disaster waiting to happen. These Muslim refugees, marginalized from American values at the outset, will be particularly susceptible to the radical strains of their religion. The true folly of Obama’s program may not be obvious for years.
Until Obama extends the same compassion to Christian refugees that he does to Muslims, he does not have the right to accuse conservatives of favoring a religious test. The test is already in place.
