Obama released a statement thanking Muslims for their many “achievements and contributions to building the very fabric of our nation and strengthening the core of our democracy.”

I’d like to know what Muslims have done to improve America. It must be a secret list, kept with Obama’s birth certificate and his college transcripts!

All the Muslims do is complain about Israel and why Obama isn’t doing more to promote Islam, as this video suggests: 

Muslim-Americans Fed Up With Obama Administration Some members of the Muslim-American community will no longer stand with President Barack Obama and his policies regarding the Middle East, and they refuse to believe that the situation can be fixed this time…

Obama said this in Egypt.

The contribution of Muslims to the United States are too long to catalog, because Muslims are so interwoven into the fabric of our communities and our country.”

I’d like Obama to list THREE contributions of Muslims to the fabric of America. In fact, I Googled “Muslim contributions to America,” and here is an excerpt from one website, the title of the article being, “American history incomplete without Muslim contribution”

As the Muslim population in America increases, it is especially important to look back on the history of Islam in America and to acknowledge and appreciate Muslim American contributions.

The scholarship of Dr. Sylviane Diouf of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, Dr. Michael Gomez of New York University and Amir Muhammad of America’s Islamic Heritage Museum has confirmed that some of the slaves brought to the Americas from West Africa were Muslims. The transmission and sustainment of the faith over several centuries among their descendants has been documented through artifacts, paintings, writings and even gravestones depicting a connection to the religion.

Given their enslavement and heavily restricted mobility, these early believers could neither avail themselves of American citizenship nor did they have the liberty to transform their presence into communities and institutions. However, there is evidence that American leaders of the time, including the founding fathers of our nation, such as John Quincy Adams and Thomas Jefferson, were quite familiar with Islam and possessed copies of the Holy Qur’an in their personal libraries.

As you can see, there is NO real contribution mention, just the notion that a couple of presidents had Qu’rans. And in case you missed it, the Muslims are intent one thing: Expanding.

The Nation of Islam (NOI), one of the most significant organizations in American Muslim history, is founded.  A high percentage of African Americans who were members of Nation of Islam later converted to  Islam. NOI was also effective in highlighting American Christians’ difficulties combating the effects of slavery and racism among African Americans. The NOI’s philosophy was introduced in the United States by Fard Muhammad (Wallace Ford), a mystic who disappeared in 1933. The late Elijah Mohammed, who succeeded Fard in 1933, helped build the organization into a strong ethnic movement advocating a deviant brand of Islam as a way of life. Two of the most famous African Americans, Muhammad Ali, and Al Hajj Malik al-Shabazz (Malcolm X), were early adherents of this movement. Both later embraced the true Islam

So the Nation of Islam is a contribution? Holy Kwanzaa, what would we do without the Nation of Islam. 

Outside of raising my alert to “high” when I’m on airplanes, and showcasing how to treat women as surrogates, I can’t seem to put my finger on much positive coming from our Muslim brethren.

I am all about the mosaic that is America. I love the idea of other cultures contributing to America, their dress, their music, and the overall improvement of the greatest civilization ever. That’s how it was back in the day, as people assimilated and America got stronger. But as Dillon wrote, “Times, they are a changin’.”

America is now catering to other cultures, religions, and so on, to the point of forgetting our identity. In the case of Obama’s comments to mark the celebration of Eid-al-Fitr, a time of spiritual renewal for Muslims, Obama was not merely trying to placate Muslims. Obama believes that America is having a Muslim Renaissance ushered in by him.

Truth be told, if it weren’t for oil, nobody would even know what a Muslim was. As one of my scholar friends said, “When a Muslim takes over anything, it doesn’t take long for it to become a wasteland.”

Obama has elevated my friend from scholar to prophet.
