SNL Has Fun at Obama’s Expense with Depression Skit

Saturday Night Live has allowed itself the leeway to begin satirizing the  President, and it’s offered up a few  memorable moments over the last few weeks. It’s the job of the comedian to  assault those in power, it may very well be the most important thing they do – especially in a “democratic” society. We must use all our tools to keep our “leaders” egos in check, and if the political class tries to silence the  mockers, it’s a sign that they need to be made fun of even more.

SNL

“With Paxil You’ll feel like you’re giving a speech at a college campus in  2008 or getting bin Laden, all over again!”

“And Paxil Second Term Strength treats a whole range of symptoms like:  Benghazi, the NSA scandal, the IRS scandal, the AP scandal… and of course  Obamacare website problems.”

“Warning: Paxil is not covered by Obamacare we promised that it would be,  but it’s not. And for that, we apologize.”

This sketch was a lot of fun to watch; it was concise and accurate. The folks  at Saturday Night Live have been missing comedy gold by not laughing at the  President for the last five years — maybe they’ll remedy that and use the next  couple of years to laugh at the people in power. I don’t think SNL or any other  mainstream comedians (like Jon Stewart) are the “voice of the people,” but they  shouldn’t take their “jobs” lightly. The clown’s purpose is to bring the people  in charge down a few notches and remind them that they aren’t immune to failure  and farce… indeed, they are just like us, no better.

Do your jobs guys, and stop sucking up just because the people in charge just  happen to be liberals like you.
