Mayorkas Can’t—or Won’t—Say How Many Illegals Biden Admin Has Released Into US

During a Senate committee hearing Tuesday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas couldn’t answer a question about how many illegal immigrants federal authorities have released into the U.S. interior under the Biden administration.

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., pressed Mayorkas on the issue, but the DHS secretary couldn’t provide a number at Tuesday’s Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing. Illegal immigration at the southern border of the U.S. has surged past 2 million in both fiscal year 2022, the highest year on record, and 2023, according to federal data.dailycallerlogo

An Inspector General report in September found that DHS lacks the ability to track all illegal immigrants released from their custody into the U.S. interior, partially because of the overwhelming surge at U.S. borders.

“I’ve asked you this in the past, what numbers are represented here? How many people has this administration let in by encountering, processing, dispersing or that come in as a known or an unknown got-away? Approximately, I don’t need an exact number, so what do we got?” Johnson asked Mayorkas.

“Senator, let me say,” Mayorkas responded before being interrupted by Johnson.

“I need numbers. Don’t filibuster me. How many people has this administration let into the country?” Johnson continued.

Mayorkas began speaking before Johnson again interrupted him for not providing a clear number.

“Let me say at the outset that our job would be a lot easier if the broken immigration system … ” Mayorkas responded.

“Mr. Secretary, I want a number. How many people will have you let into this country? I’ll give you the number, it’s about 6 million, about 1.7 million as known got-aways. Now, again, we don’t know who these people are. We just know that they’ve come to this country and that they’re residing somewhere. Where are all these people residing? Where did the 6 million people go?” Johnson asked.

Border Patrol doesn’t have the ability to always collect migrants’ addresses, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement doesn’t always validate the addresses before they’re released into the country, the inspector general previously found. Between March 2021 and August 2022, Border Patrol collected 981,671 migrant records, but more than 177,000 migrant records “were either missing, invalid for delivery, or not legitimate residential locations.”

Mayorkas began to attempt to answer Johnson again, but still could not provide a direct response.

“Senator, you speak of encounters, and let me share,” Mayorkas said before Johnson interrupted.

“Would you answer my questions? Where did these 6 million people go? Are you keeping track of them? To what extent [do] we have a handle on where are these 6 million people are in America?” Johnson asked.

Mayorkas continued to attempt to answer Johnson’s questions.

“As you well know, when an individual is indeed released, they are released into immigration enforcement proceedings and are subject to removal if they do not have a legal basis to remain in the United States,” the DHS chief said.

“You’re not answering that question. Where do these people reside?” Johnson asked.

Sen Ron Johnson: Cathay Bank ‘willingly’ provided Biden bank records

A “Mornings with Maria” panel says the American public should be “rightly concerned” with the Biden family’s financial relations with China. As more confirmations come forth regarding the Biden family’s business dealings in China, Americans are calling on President Joe Biden to address the “significant and important” financial connection.

“When you see this kind of a connection between a sitting president, his son and the Chinese government, when people just don’t trust this and know that it’s one of the biggest threats facing us right now, that’s a really big issue that needs to be addressed,” Maslansky + Partners President Lee Carter said on “Mornings with Maria” on Monday.

Her comments come on the heels of Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., revealing Sunday to host Maria Bartiromo that Chinese-American-owned Cathay Bank disclosed Biden family bank records that match U.S. regulator records.

“A bank from China, let’s face it, the Communist Party controls those types of institutions; they willingly gave us the documents that backed up the Treasury records,” Johnson said on “Sunday Morning Futures.”

While Cathay Bank was founded in the U.S. in 1962 and is currently headquartered in Chinatown, Los Angeles, they also house representative offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Taipei, according to its website. It also claims to be America’s oldest operating bank founded by Chinese Americans.

Despite Biden denying in recent weeks that his son, Hunter Biden, brother Jim, and Hallie Biden, the widow of his son, Beau, received split payments of $1 million from Hunter’s business associate, Rob Walker, Johnson claimed the new Cathay Bank records solidify the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into the family’s international business ventures.

“Is that the Chinese Communist Party, is that a shot across President Biden’s bow, saying, ‘Listen, this is some of the information we have. If you don’t toe the line, if you don’t do things that displease us, we’re going to even provide … more information,'” Johnson said. “So, we obviously have a multiple-tier system of justice.”

Carter further argued Monday that Americans’ concerns around Biden’s potential Chinese collusion are valid.

“This isn’t just a Chinese bank, this is an American bank that was founded by Chinese Americans,” Carter said. “After everything that we’ve been through with China, at this moment, only 15% of Americans trust China … the American people are rightly concerned. They deserve to have answers. And I think at a minimum, the president needs to make a statement and address people’s concerns because they’re valid.”

Financial services industry veteran Michael Lee also joined the conversation Monday, pointing out the coincidence of U.S. banks’ reluctance to provide Congress with information now that a Democrat holds office.

“Let’s just go back in time and remind everyone: Nobody gets [$1 million] sole mandate from the Chinese government to start a private equity firm, especially one that doesn’t have any private equity experience, especially someone that doesn’t have any private equity experience and has a debilitating crack habit,” Lee said.

“So, what type of influence did they buy as the Chinese Communist Party is running around with Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, setting up a new reserve currency to take out the United States of America?” he continued. “What did the Bidens give up and what is it doing to our national security?”

Republican Sen. Ron Johnson called out NBC News anchor Chuck Todd on Sunday for his contentious attitude toward the Wisconsin lawmaker’s suggestion that Hunter Biden may be guilty of any wrongdoing.

On “Meet the Press,” Todd first asked Johnson whether he agrees with the special counsel investigation of President Joe Biden. After Johnson explained why he is generally “not a fan of special counsels,” the conversation quickly turned to the merits of a Hunter Biden investigation.

Senator, do you have a crime that you think Hunter Biden committed, because I’ve yet to see anybody explain. It is not a crime to make money off of your last name,” Todd told Johnson.

When Johnson did name potential crimes, Todd quickly shifted the conversation to Jared Kushner, implicitly accusing Johnson of being one-sided. He also accused Johnson of “targeting” Hunter Biden. At that point, Johnson had enough.

“Chuck, you know, part of the problem — and this is pretty obvious to anybody watching this — is you don’t invite me on to interview me, you invite me on to argue with me,” Johnson said. “You know, I’m just trying to lay out the facts that certainly Sen. Grassley and I uncovered. They were suppressed. They were censored. They interfered in the 2020 election. Conservatives understand that.

“Unfortunately, liberals in the media don’t. And that’s part of the reasons our politics are inflamed is we do not have an unbiased media. We don’t. It’s unfortunate,” he added. “I’m all for free press. It needs to be more unbiased.”

After crosstalk between Todd and Johnson, the NBC anchor took a shot at his guest.

Look, you can go back on your partisan cable cocoon and talk about media bias all you want. I understand it’s part of your identity,” Todd accused.

At the end of the interview — after Todd attempted to connect the riots in Brazil to Jan. 6 and Donald Trump — Todd said he looked forward to hosting Johnson for an in-studio interview.
